Shooting for the stars here, and praying that I will get into a Tier 1/T20. Very nervous about test scores however I'm hoping my ECs are decent enough to get me into one of these schools. Relying on the ECs, however there are plenty of EC warriors within Reddit and America. I will probably apply test optional unless recommended otherwise because my test scores are somewhat weak compared to others. I'm applying everywhere because I have no idea where I'll end up, so I'd rather go big. Along with this, I'm looking to be recruited for college volleyball, because that is what I'm passionate about aswell. If you all have any advice, I would love to hear it! Thanks for your time.

2024.04.19 12:19 joyyysick I am jealous and insecure about my little sister and feel like an asshole for it

I tried multiple things when I was young. Each summer a new class for my new interest. Drawing, volleyball, skating, and a lot of more.
But I ended up with nothing. I just abandoned them all. And can't even do it as a medicore in none of them. Even though I still have an interest for some of them such as drawing, ect...
These days my little sister is constantly praised for drawing good and beautifully. I feel useless for not even being good at what I like and never being praised for doing something good. I'm not even good at studying. My friend praise me for writing poems and stories but I now she doesn't really meant it and when we get older all of them are cringe.
And I feel so bad for feeling like this toward her. I should be happy too. And I am. But I also feel bad and sad.
+just for knowing, I'm 17 and my sister is 9.

[16M] I got some people who talked to me last time so let's do this again. Looking for people to talk to and make friends!
For one, sorry for all the songs on here, just thought I'd give a good idea of what kinda stuff I like to listen to G. I love hip hop music so much and if you have any song/ album suggestions for me, I'll be more than glad to listen to it. Ilove dogs, volleyball, writing (stories or poems based on an idea I have or personal things), drawing (even if it's not the best), playing video games (Fortnite, Minecraft), working out, running, and going on the internet. I'll talk to anybody as long as you're not here to be a creep or other stuff. If you wanted to follow me on ig, TELL ME FIRST and then you can if I want. Talk maybe!

Maldives Holidays and Traditions
Maldives Holidays and Traditions As we step onto the sandy shores of the Maldives, the gentle breeze carries the scent of exotic spices and the distant sound of joyful celebrations. Here in this tropical paradise, holidays and traditions weave a tapestry of culture and history, inviting us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant rhythms of the Maldivian way of life. From the solemn observance of Ramadan to the exuberant festivities of the Eid festivals, the Maldives offers a rich tapestry of traditions that captivate the senses and ignite the imagination. But there is more to discover beyond the surface, secrets waiting to be unveiled, as we embark on a journey to explore the hidden gems of Maldives' holidays and traditions.Key TakeawaysIslamic festivals such as Ramadan and the Prophet's Birthday are important holidays in the Maldives, observed with fasting, prayers, and special gatherings.National holidays like National Day, Independence Day, and Republic Day are celebrated with parades, cultural events, and displays of national pride and unity.Eid festivals in the Maldives bring families together for prayers, delicious meals, gift exchanges, and cultural performances, marking the end of Ramadan.Festive delicacies during Eid festivals offer a variety of traditional Maldivian dishes that combine flavors and aromas to enhance the joy and festivities.RamadanDuring Ramadan, we fast during daylight hours as a time for self-reflection, meditation, and compassion. Ramadan is an Islamic month-long festival that holds great significance in the Maldives. It's celebrated in the months of August or September, marking the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. This religious observance is a time when Muslims around the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn until sunset. In the Maldives, Ramadan brings about a noticeable change in daily routines. Offices and government workers end their working days earlier to accommodate the fasting period. The atmosphere becomes serene and contemplative, as individuals engage in acts of worship, seeking spiritual growth and connection with Allah. The end of Ramadan is marked by the joyous celebration of Eid, known as the Kuda Eid Festival in the Maldives. This three-day festival is characterized by prayers, offering alms to the poor, decorations, feasts, and traditional dances. Families come together to share meals and exchange gifts, fostering a sense of unity and gratitude.Ramadan is a time for deep reflection and introspection, as individuals strive to strengthen their faith and cultivate compassion towards others. It's a period of self-discipline, self-control, and empathy, reminding us of the importance of gratitude and generosity. The National DayAfter experiencing the serenity and introspection of Ramadan, the Maldivian people eagerly come together to celebrate their rich cultural heritage on The National Day. Held on the first day of Rabee-ul Awwal, The National Day is a significant occasion in the Maldives, commemorating important events in Maldivian history. This festive day, usually falling in February or March, marks the victory of Muhammad Thakurufaanu over the Portuguese in 1573. It's a time for the Maldivian people to honor their heritage and reflect on the bravery and heroism of Muhammad Thakurufaanu. On The National Day, the Maldives comes alive with parades, marches, and cultural celebrations. The streets are filled with vibrant colors and sounds as the nation rejoices in its independence. It's a time to showcase the country's unity and pride, as well as its rich cultural traditions. People from all walks of life come together to participate in various events and activities, reinforcing the sense of community and national identity. The National Day holds even greater significance as it marks the day when the Maldives became a republic. It's a reminder of the country's journey towards independence and self-governance. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of freedom and the resilience of the Maldivian people. The celebrations on The National Day not only honor the past but also inspire hope and optimism for the future. It's a time to celebrate the achievements of the nation and look forward to a brighter tomorrow.Independence DayIndependence Day in the Maldives holds great historical significance as it commemorates the country's freedom from British rule in 1965.On this day, the Maldivian people come together to celebrate with parades, performances, and a variety of festivities. The cultural importance of Independence Day is evident in the vibrant displays of national pride and unity that can be seen throughout the celebrations.Historical SignificanceEvery year on July 26th, the Maldives proudly commemorates a significant moment in its history - the day when the nation gained its long-awaited freedom from British colonial rule in 1965. Independence Day is a time of great celebration and reflection for the Maldivian people. It is a day filled with parades, flag hoisting ceremonies, and cultural performances that showcase the rich history and traditions of the nation. 2024.03.15 15:39 Isara_lol Taro's Redemption - Yandere Taro

In this ending for Yandere Taro is the peaceful route. Taro befriends each rival and gains their trust.
In the game, Ayano befriends a rival, but instead of them being more involved with Ayano, they become distant and never cross paths again, so I wanted to change it.
Taro befriends each rival. With each rival befriended, Taro has moments with them and learns new things of friendship and life lessons in a way.
⚠️ This post will be very long, so be cautious. It is another ending, so lol. It's pretty much a whole fanfic so, enjoy this ending . Also, English is not my first language! Sorry for spelling mistakes! ⚠️

“Gifts.” – Kyuji Konagawa.
“Here. Hold him.”Kyuji encouraged Taro as the two were sitting down in front of the kitten on the grass in front of the Gardening Club, “He is a good kitten. He doesn’t scratch you as long as you’re gentle.” Taro shook his head, staring down at the kitten with a blank stare, “I don’t like cats.”
“You don’t? Then why do you have a black cat charm on your phone?”Kyuji pointed out, holding the kitten in his palms. The kitten was sniffing his hand and meowing. Taro sighed, “Osana forced me to put it on my phone. It’s a sign of years of friendship.”He responded. Kyuji blinked and smiled, “That’s a sweet gesture. I’m sure it would make Osana much happier if you could hold this kitten.”
“Hmm…”Taro reached his hands out. Kyuji placed the kitten on his palms with a smile, “There. Just be gentle.” Taro nodded and held the kitten in his hands, staring at the innocent kitten. In response, the kitten sniffled his hands before meowing. The small animal laid down on Taro’s palms, getting comfortable.
“He likes you already!”Kyuji smiled brightly at the sight. Taro gently stroked the kitten's head,”I suppose…”He mumbled. Kyuji watched his new friend with a bright smile,”Also, I want to thank you for helping me with my issue. Heh. I appreciate that you took your time to help me with it.”
“You're welcome.”
“So, how are you doing with Ayano? Any progress?”Kyuji questioned, watching Taro petting the kitten. Taro slightly blushed from the thought of Ayano and mumbled out,”Well, it's been going good. All I do is talk to her. I'm not sure whatever to do…”
“Hmm…”Kyuji got quiet for a moment, thinking of an idea. His eyes lit up, remembering something,”Oh! How about you give her a gift?”
“A… gift?”
Kyuji nodded,”A gift is something you can buy or make with your own hands to give to someone important. I was planning to give her a bracelet I saw in the gift shop in town, but after you did for me, I didn't. I believe it's still there for you to buy. I'm sure Ayano would love the gift. It will be something sentimental between the two of you. You can give her something else like,uh, a ring? A book? A drawing? Something that you buy or make from the heart. That's something that any person would want and love, right?” Taro stared at him, surprised at the advice his ex-rival was giving him. Taro glanced down at the kitten in his hands, rubbing his thumb against his head gently,”A gift…”
“A gift is one of the most sentimental things you can give a person. It's like giving a piece of you to someone you care for and love. That was what I was taught by my parents. Give it a try.”
With that information, Taro, for the rest of the days remaining, would make and buy things for Ayano to give whenever they meet again during the day.

“Love is the secret Ingredient.” – Shoku Tsuburaya.
“Here you go! You can decorate the cupcakes while I frost them!”Shoku moved the plate of frosted cupcakes towards Taro, who was next to him,”Make them pretty. These cupcakes will be given to the school during the bake sale.”
Taro nodded,”I'll try.”He spoke, adjusting his gloves on his hands. Shoku smiled,”Now that you're here, tell me, how's it going with Ayano? After what you did for me, I distant myself like you wanted.” Taro responded while placing some sparkles on top of some of the cupcakes,”It's been going well. I've been talking to her and giving her gifts. She seems to enjoy them. Even the bracelet I gave her.”Taro blushed with a soft smile, remembering the sight of Ayano wearing the bracelet on her wrist whenever he saw her,”I'm glad she likes it.”
Shoku let out a satisfied chuckle,”What kind of gifts are you buying?”
“Just jewelry, some items she wanted, and I've been making her gifts too, like drawing her from memory. Hm… I made her a box where she could keep the jewelry I bought her.”Taro hummed, placing some cherries or strawberries on top of the naked cupcakes. “Have you tried baking her something, or at least cooking her a meal?”
“No.”
Shoku smiled, having an idea in mind,”How about you start? Food is a good way to show others your love. Every single food I make is made with my secret ingredient.” Taro blinked when Shoku gestured to come closer. Taro leaned in. Shoku leaned towards his ear and whispered,”The secret Ingredient is love.”
Taro frowned and leaned back,”That's ridiculous.”
“It's not! Amai and I always cook our foods with love! The Cooking Club does the same thing. What else do you think our foods taste so good? Our love is in them.”
“That's really cheesy.”
Shoku slightly frowned,”Okay, maybe it does sound cheesy, but it is a way many famous chefs make their food. Their love for cooking makes their food much more special and full of favor. If you make something for Ayano with the love you have for you, Ayano will love it.”Shoku smiled again.
Taro stared at Shoku and glanced down at the cupcake he was decorating,”Hmm…”
“Love can make everything in food taste good and make it special. I've learned that throughout my years of becoming a five-star chef. Every baked sweet I made with Amai has a sparkle of love. These foods are a sign of my love for the school and the students within it, even the bad students. Ayano would love to have something that you made with the secret ingredient of love that isn't an object, but a warm and tasty sweet.”
Taro has this advice in his mind and starts baking sweets for Ayano with the secret Ingredient of love. Ayano even shares the food with Taro.

“Your Voice and Words.” — Tsuruzo Yamazaki.
“Ah! Taro, you're here! Thank goodness! I need your help with this sentimental speech that I will be saying in a play that Kizana planned.”Tsuruzo exclaimed, puffing his chest out to the young man in front of him. Taro raised an eyebrow,”A sentimental speech?”
“Mhm! As you know, I'm known for making the most traumatic, breathtaking, sentimental, and wrenching speeches Akademi has ever heard! I need your help to make sure this speech is perfect.”Tsuruzo grabbed Taro's arm and dragged him to a chair. He sat him down and stood in front of him,”Now, let me start,”He cleared his throat. Before he could start, Taro interrupted him,”It's a speech. Nothing special.”
Tsuruzo stared at Taro with widened eyes as his jaw dropped as if he was staring at a dead corpse,”A speech that is made with determination, passion, and love is special, especially when it comes from inside of your soul, Taro! Having a speech and a voice to say it with can mean and touch a person, especially one that means a lot to you personally. Have you ever written a speech for a certain individual?”
“No.”
“Not even for Ayano?”Tsuruzo gasped, placing his hand against his chest. Taro shook his head. Tsuruzo immediately placed the speech down and immediately sat down next to Taro,”My poor boy! You need to immediately start. Ayano is the one you love! You have to show her that she means a lot to you by using that voice of yours. I have an idea. How about you write her a nice poem as a starter? Dig into your soul, Taro, and throw all of your love for her onto that paper. Dig deep, Yamada.”
“You're overreacting here.”
“Nonsense! Do you want Ayano to know how much she means to you?”
“Yes.”
“That you love her?”
“Yes!”
“Then start doing speeches for her. Express your emotions to Ayano using your voice and words. Your voice is the most powerful thing a human being has to express their emotion, along with your words. Use it for love and good, Taro. Dig deep into your soul and let it all out. Don't hold yourself back. Do it for love!”
With the conversation with Tsuruzo, Taro starts working on making poems for Ayano along with speeches on how Ayano makes him feel. Taro does sometimes read it to her during lunch, but there are other speeches that make him nervous and timid, so Ayano is the one to read it.

“Facing Fear Together.” – Shin HIgaku.
“What are you doing?”Taro questioned, looking over Shin's shoulder. Shin jumped and turned around. He sighed deeply,”Oh, Taro, it's just you… Please, don't scare me like that…”
“I apologize.”Taro gave Shin a small bow. Taro leaned back and slightly smiled at his ex-rival,”What are you doing?”He repeated the question. Shin glanced down at the pictures in his hands,”Oh! I'm just looking over the pictures we took while being in the abandoned asylum… which by the way, thank you for coming with me.”Shin flashed Taro a small smile,”I wanted to bring Oka with me… but I don't want her getting hurt. I'm glad that I have someone with me to face my fear of that haunting place…”
“You're welcome. It was an experience. I hope we can do it again. I hope Oka can come with us this time.”
“Maybe… I'm still scared of her getting hurt… but she wants to face this fear together like she and I always have since we were kids.”Shin smiled softly at the memories,”It's nice to… know that someone as scared as you.. is willing to go through the horror to overcome it together.”
“Together?”
Shin nodded, fiddling with the pictures in his hands,”Yeah… having someone to face your biggest fear in life is nice… You know that the world is full of scary things. Each one of us fears something. Big or small. It's something we fear… Knowing that we have people who can relate… and be by our side to face it all… is comforting. Don't you want to be there for Ayano and… face her fears together?”
“Her…fears?”Taro blinked.
“Mhm…Her fears. Don't you want to be there for her… and help her face her fears?...”
“I…I do.”
“Then, it's best to start talking to her about it, don't you think..? I'm not the best at giving advice. Ayano would appreciate that… you're willing to listen to what she fears. I'm sure… you two can overcome it together.”
After that, Taro immediately starts talking to Ayano about her fears that she has along with his own. Because of this, their friendship grows much stronger.

“Learning New Things.” – Iruka Dorufino.
“Iruka! Wait..!”Taro ran after the young man that was a few feet ahead of him on the track. “Come on! You're lacking behind!”Iruka shouted as he continued to focus on his running. Taro panted heavily as he continued to run after him, trying to catch up.
After a few minutes of running, Iruka stopped and took a large sip of his water while Taro sat down on the grass, trying to catch some air,”You know, maybe this running track isn't my thing.”He panted out.
“Of course it isn't, but you still are trying and learning. That's what matters.”Iruka responded,”As my friend, I'm quite glad that you're trying something new. Yesterday, we played some volleyball. You got dirty and got some bruises from the falls, but you're trying.”
“Thank you…”Taro reached out for his bottle of water and chugged some of the water.
“But try harder.”Iruka glared down at the young man. Taro stared at his ex-rival,”As you said, I'm trying.”
Iruka lowered himself down to the grass and sat down next to Taro,”I know, but try harder. I'm sure when Ayano and you try to learn something new, you two will have to try to become better and most likely win, right?”
“Uh,”
“If Ayano and you become a couple, you two will face and learn new things. Is that something you want to do?”Iruka questioned, staring at Taro waiting for his answer. Taro nodded. He slightly smiled,”Then, you two will have to prepare to learn new things in life that will either bring good or bad. Even if it's good or bad, learning new things and understanding can help you become a better person and have stronger connections.”
“I… I suppose.”
Iruka took a large sip of his water and licked his lips,”I wish you luck, Taro. You're a good guy. Ayano is lucky to have a guy like you. I know you two will learn new things from each other and around you. Learning New Things can help you face certain situations and even make your relationships much stronger.”
“Like I am now playing sports with you?”
“Mhm.”
With this advice, Taro takes Ayano to new places for them to learn new skills and things that they never experienced. Their friendship becomes stronger.

“A Hand To Hold Onto.” – Otohiko Meichi.
“Thank you, Taro, for being here with me. My medication always makes me dizzy and sleepy.”Otohiko spoke, leaning against the taller male's shoulder with a tired smile,”It's nice to have you here to help me, and at least have someone to keep me company besides the nurse.”
“Don't your parents keep you company during this?”
“My mom does. My dad… he doesn't like me because of my feminine mannerisms, so he keeps his distance and isn't scared to show his disappointment towards me.”Otohiko mumbled in a sad tone,”Even if I'm used to it, it does hurt…”
Taro remained quiet and glanced down at the ground. Otohiko sighed,”...I don't want to disappoint my father, but I don't want to be what I'm not, or pretend I'm not, you know.”
“I understand perfectly…”Taro mumbled. Otohiko slowly looked up at him,”You do?”
“Mhm. My father has a high expectation of me. I don't want to disappoint him either, but lately, I've been seeing things differently from how he taught me. I'm not even sure if I'm going down the right path.”Taro explained, staring at his lap. Otohiko listened,”Well… are you happy?”
Taro looked at Otohiko after he asked his question with a confused look,”Huh…?”
“Are you happy with what you're doing now? That's what my mom asks me. She holds my hand and asks me if I'm happy with my choices. So,”Otohiko placed his hand on top of Taro's,”Are you happy?”He repeated.
Taro took a long pause, thinking. He responded with unsureness,”I… I don't know. It's confusing.”
“I understand… I get confused, too.”Otohiko rested his head against his shoulder again, feeling the sleepiness slowly taking over him,”Whenever I get confused, or scared on what step to do next, I have my mother, or Sensei hold my hand. Having a hand to hold onto can make you feel better and know that there's someone who can hear you and comfort you. It's nice.”
“Is that so…?”
“Mhm. I know Ayano will be happy to have a hand to hold onto when she's scared or confused about what to do next… Even a nice hug, too.”Otohiko slowly spoke before falling asleep against Taro.
Since then, Taro has always held Ayano's hand whenever she's scared, but she is mostly confused about what to do next. Taro would also just hold her hand to signal that he is there for her. Their friendship becomes stronger.

“Looking forward to the Future.” – Toga Tabara.
“Thank you for helping me with finding a good college to go to. Now, with that done, I can focus on my future after Akademi and in the new university.”Toga smiled as Taro, and he walked down the sidewalk of the town. Taro nodded,”Don't mention it. I'm glad I can help you find a good university to go to and keep you motivated for the future.”
Toga smiled widely, glancing over at Taro,”How about your future? Have you found any good universities?”
“Yeah. I'm still thinking of which one to go to. They're all good ones,”Taro responded. Toga questioned,”Are you planning to travel outside of Japan? If you do, Ayano and you will have to have a distant relationship if you two become a couple. Speaking of which, where do you see Ayano and you 10 years from now?”
“Hm…”Taro hummed to himself, crossing his arms,”Maybe already married and having children of our own.”
“Aw. Do you plan to raise your children the same way your parents raised you?”Toga asked. Taro paused at the question, not sure how to answer that. Was he really going to teach his children how to get away with murder? How to clean up the blood of a rival? Was he going to teach them that murdering a person for their Senpai/Kohai was the right thing to do? Taking control and possession of someone was right? Was he really going to let his own children go down that path?
“I think I'm going to raise my future children in my own way. There are some things in my family that I don't want them to learn about. I want them to have a good future and life. I want them to be successful.”Toga spoke, breaking the silence between them,”I want them to have a better future than I had. I don't want them to repeat the same mistakes I've made.”
Taro didn't say a word as the two continued to walk.
This is the time when Taro rethinks what his future children will have. He is rethinking if his children should follow the tradition of a Yamada; Murdering, kidnapping, mind breaking, sabotage, etc. Along with asking Ayano what she planned for her future.

“Being by Their side.” – Umeji Kizuguchi.
“Thank you for keeping me company, Yamada. You're not as bad as I thought.”Umeji spoke as the two walked down the path outside of Akademi. Taro blinked hard,”Uh, thank you for the compliment.”
Umeji snickered,”It's been a long time since I had a true friend outside of the gang. It's nice to have another person by my side after everything I’ve been through and done.” Taro sighed softly,”Well, I was a witness of what you went through by the bullies. I don't know why they were in Akademi or how and why they got accepted.”
“Neither do I, but now, they're gone from Akademi. Now, I can breathe. Thank you for helping me with that.”
“You're welcome. I'm glad I got to help. It might have been too late, but at least I did it.” Umeji reached out and patted his back,”Mhm. During the few days of trying to expel the bullies, I'm thankful for having you by my side. It means a lot to me, especially when you didn't turn me away like someone did.”Umeji muttered with irritation in his voice.
“Like the guidance counselor?”
Umeji nodded,”But that's in the past now.”He shook his head and looked at Taro again,"I'm glad to know that Ayano will have someone like you by her side. I know she will be safe. The best thing you can do for her is stay by her side. My gang has been by my side through it all, and we are still going strong. I hope that Ayano and you stay together for a long time, and promise me that you'll be by her side.”
“I promise.”
Umeji smacked his back,”You better, Yamada.”
Taro made a promise, and it's a promise he'll keep for years and years of being by Ayano's side no matter what. Their friendship becomes stronger.

“Patience.” – Hazu Kashibuchi.
“Uh, I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.”Taro spoke, trying to stitch a design on an embroidery hoop. Hazu watched through his bangs, slightly cringing at the sight,”Uh, Senpai, you're trying a little too hard… Just relax.”
“Ow!”Taro cried out when the needle stabbed his fingertip. Hazu reached out and wrapped his forearms,”Senpai, you have to relax. Don't focus so much on perfecting it… This project is made from your heart… it doesn't need to be perfect for Ayano.”
“Yes it does.”
“I-It doesn't… Ayano will be happy to know that… you tried your best. As long as she knows that you made it from your heart. This will prove to her… that you're willing to learn and help her family sewing store to continue for another few years… Ayano will be thankful along with her family.”
Taro sighed deeply,”I guess.”
“Here. Let me teach you how to do it.. without you poking yourself. It takes time.”Hazu smiled timidly, taking the hoop and needle away from Taro's hands. Taro watched Hazu stitching,”You have to have patience. Everything you do now and on needs patience, you know… it will take time for everything to go in the right spots. Just relax and take your time.”
Taro slowly nodded, listening to him and watching.
“I know Ayano will need that… once she takes over the shop of her family.”
“If she wants to,”Taro added. Hazu nodded,”All I ask you is to have patience for Ayano…. I know she will do the same for you.”
Taro nodded,”I know, and I will, don't worry.”
Taro learns that sometimes things will be slow to get positive results, but he is willing to wait with Ayano by his side to get his happy ending.

“A Change.” – Kaga Kusha.
“I'm free…”Kaga spoke, standing in front of Taro. His eyes shined from happiness,”I'm free!”He cheered, jumping up and down from excitement before hugging Taro tightly. Taro's eyes widened slightly from the embrace. Kaga's eyes widened once he realized what he did and pulled away,”I apologize.”He bowed to him, clearing his throat,”I shouldn't have done that…”
“Don't worry about it.”Taro said,”I'm glad that I was able to help you put your family behind bars for the abuse you went through.”
Kaga looked at him,”It will take time for them to officially be sentenced, but I'm just relieved that I'm free from them after years. I… Thank you for helping me. You helped me change my future. Now, I can do the same for you.”
Taro stared at him in confusion,”What are you talking about?”
“You have proven to me that you're not like your father and great-grandfather. You didn't go the same path as your father and great-grandfather did. You chose the peaceful route. I saw everything you did. I saw that you became friends with the people who got in your way. I can help you change your future. I can help you make a change. Your father and great-grandfather made many mistakes that they had to pay with prison. Do you really want that path for your future children? Do you really want your children to face prison and a chance of being executed?”
Taro stared at him, being taken back by that question again.
Kaga continued when Taro didn't respond,”The only reason why I did this is because I don't want my future children to deal with the pain I had to face for years. I don't want them to grow up in an abusive environment. I had a chance to make a change and I took it. I had to do it for my future and my future children's future. I needed to save this Corp. To save myself and my sister. Tell me, don't you want that too? Be able to live your life and raise your future children your own way? Give a good example to your sister?”
Taro's eyes slightly widened,”I…”He glanced down at the ground,”My whole life my father always taught me that the only way to get what you wanted and the right way to do it was murdering, kidnapping, sabotage, mind breaking, and pretty much doing whatever it takes to win even if it meant spilling blood. This was taught for many generations in my family, and some didn't because of the circumstances of their positions. I always thought my father was right. He told me that since I was a kid , this was normal. He even told it to Hanako.”
“Do you think it's normal now?”Kaga questioned. Taro slowly looked at Kaga, thinking again on the question. Normal? With everything that Taro experienced with each ex-rival, he learned something new. Something that brought him closer to Ayano each time without the need of violence, sabotage, murdering, kidnapping, and mind breaking. He did it with patience, learned to be an actual friend, learned to understand Ayano through it all, learned to love her for her, and learned that the way he was taught was not right. His father was wrong.
“No.”Taro finally answered,”It's not normal. It's time for me to make a change. They will pay for what they have done. My great-grandfather will pay for the death of your grandfather.”
Kaga sighed in relief and smiled,”Thank you. As the CEO of Kusha Corp, the first thing I will do is help you put them in prison. You're not alone anymore. I'm sorry for misjudging you, Yamada.”
“You're forgiven, and thank you, Kusha.”Taro smiled.
In the end, Taro goes against his father and great-grandfather with the help of Kaga to put them in prison. However, Taro doesn't tell anyone his involvement in the deaths he caused when he was younger. That's a secret that stays with him because now, he will become a better person for Ayano, his mother, his sister, and his future.
There are two outcomes for Hanako to follow, it's either her teaming up with her brother or going against him for betraying the family, or her father will try to manipulate her to go against her brother and get “revenge” for him. A few months later, her father and great-grandfather were executed.
After the truth was brought up to the surface of what happened in 1989, the journalist was able to get an apology, and return to Japan safely, and with no danger.
I can make a Betrayal version. I might do that next :)

CW: sweet lovey dovey romantical moment, an exploration of the role of exterminators as thought police, lockheed martin sales pitch
Memory transcription subject: Jackson Kern, UN-Venlil Interspecies Liaison
Date [standardized human time]: September 19, 2136
There were certain pleasures you just couldn't take from a man. As long as he had a rock and a stick, or a rock and an unloaded rifle, he could play hit-the-rock-with-the-stick. And if he was playing it with a rifle, instead of a stick, he could be made to mow the entire base's lawn with a pair of scissors by a super swole drill instructor.
Learned that one the hard way.
Anyway, one such pleasure was the aspect of pleasurable company. No, I wasn't thinking about that kind, although I supposed it did technically apply as well.
If you dropped me in the middle of the Sahara Desert, armed with nothing but my wits and this really cool bone I found being picked by vultures, which I would inevitably give a name because I'd lose my shit in a place like that, I could probably claw my way back to civilization by drinking camel blood until I could use Bobby Bone to signal a helicopter.
Without the bone, I would have a problem, though.
Anyway, what I meant by pleasurable company was friends. Good people were everywhere, and even if you couldn't find any, you could always draw a face on a volleyball and talk to it like a crazy person. If you didn't have at least a volleyball to talk to, or even a voice in your head if you were really desperate, I couldn't help you.
It was a testament to the natural charm of the human race that, even on an alien world and surrounded by people who wanted me dead, I had managed to gain allies. Three of them, to be exact.
One computer hacker who'd make one hell of a guy in the chair: check! One lovely exterminator lady who probably knows where bodies are buried: check! One mentally damaged purple terrorist who not even Saul Goodman could save from prison time: also check!
I kind of wondered what Kalkey was doing. I hoped he was alright.
Anyway, not even the cold black void of space could stop a man from having game. Even if I wasn't technically in the cold black void of space. And my game was still technically Black Ops: Russian Winter levels of steaming dogshit.
But having dogshit game did not mean I could not pull. On the contrary, in fact, I did pull. I pulled arguably the finest woman on all of Venlil Prime. That was why I was here.
There was a certain kind of woman who you wanted because she made your little soldier stand at attention. You looked at her, with a fat ass and curves and all that shit, and you thought 'damn, that bitch is fine as hell'.
Needless to say, Jelim was not that kind of woman. I mean, I do love a woman in uniform, but there was something more than just looks to her. She was intelligent, confident, charismatic, and all those other things that made the little Jack Kerns in my brain start going 'AWOOGA! AWOOGA!' with their eyeballs popping out of their heads like in those ancient cartoons.
I was never the best at English class, even though I did technically speak it, so you know it meant something when I say I would genuinely write love poems about her.
Yes, love poems. Those cheesy, Hallmark story type love poems that made you gag when you read them, too. I don't play about my love poems.
At the moment, however, I was not writing love poems. I didn't think I'd be any good at it anyway, but it was the thought that counted here. Probably. Hopefully. Moving on. At the moment, I was trudging up the steps to Jelim's one-bedroom apartment. I had on a red polo shirt, black pants, some cologne I stole from a Russian's corpse, and a concealed pistol.
Plus, like, underwear and all that. I wasn't going to just raw-dog the jeans like that.
I had my pistol tucked in my waistband, because people were out to get me, and I had a bouquet of flowers tucked in a plastic bag because I cared about Jelim a lot more than I cared about the environment. In my defense, the people I knew probably cared about it even less.
I knocked on her door in a secret knock that was so secret that she didn't even know it, and she opened it a few seconds later. As always, she looked beautiful. Granted, she'd look beautiful even if she had crawled through mud and dead fish for six miles, but that was beside the point.
"Damn. You look beautiful." What can I say? I tell it like it is. I didn't really know what aliens did to look nice, but she had obviously done it. She'd even put on some touches just for me here and there, if the eyelashes were anything to go by.
"Thanks, love. I try my best." she chirped. Just hearing her call me her love sent tingles down my spine, like I was in a firefight but in the best way possible. She reached out her hand. "Shall we?"
I took it, letting her lead me into what I had to admit was a damn nice place. I used to be entertaining the idea of having Salvek talk to me through an earpiece throughout this whole process, so that I could spit better game to Jelim, but that was a dumbass idea so I dropped it. "Damn nice place." I said. "Looks good."
Holy shit, maybe I should have made Salvek talk me through this. If I fumble a woman I'm already dating, there's no hope left for me.
"Oh, just wait until you see what I've still got in store." You see, this was good game. This was the kind of game that had powers over people. Christ, it's like she has a fucking voodoo doll. Salvek had this kind of game, making him probably the only computer scientist I knew who had the ability to talk to women. Me? I had the kind of game that came with being super duper jacked.
As it turned out, what she had in store was romantic as all hell. Like that one black dude from that old movie who was like 'come over here and kiss me on my hot mouth, I'm feeling romantical' except she wasn't black nor was she a dude.
There was a romantic dinner, or at least an attempt at a romantic dinner, laid out on the table. I saw two dishes, which looked like if a plate had spent some time in the Moscow Radioactive Exclusion Zone, both filled with some sort of green... thing?
What the fuck is that? It looks like the kind of shit you see in swamps. Speaking of, what even is that shit you see in swamps?
"I don't know how palatable this is for you, but it's genuine Nishtal algae." That's what it is! Algae! Those tiny microscopic plant things! "I've been, uh, saving it for a special occasion."
I sat down across from Jelim, giving my algae goop the stink-eye in what I hoped was the least obvious way possible. "It looks delicious," I lied. "Very healthy."
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if eating it didn't just kill me outright. If you took a Geiger counter to this... sludge, I'd bet it would start fucking clicking.
Not that I told Jelim that, of course. Hearing any insult against her was like getting a beatdown from six big brolic black men with names like Requis or Jontavious, and I wasn't trying to give myself a beatdown today.
I took a tentative sip of the goop. It tasted... palatable. By palatable, I meant choke-down-able, but it looked like one of the 'unmentionables' in the Putingrad sewers so I let it slide.
"Is it good?" Jelim asked tentatively. She was a bit nervous, and I wasn't very good at reading people so that probably meant she was a lot nervous.
I thought for a bit, figuring out how to phrase 'this tastes like ass' in an inoffensive way. "It's made with love. That's what matters."
"Oh, no, I hated making it." Jelim chuckled. "I'm a terrible cook." Yeah, I can tell.
I thought of something else to say, because no way in hell was I gonna tell her that. "You said work had you down." I changed the subject. "Can I, like, help with that?" Honestly, I wasn't sure if I wanted to help. If you set a litter of puppies on fire and you didn't feel bad about that, I didn't know what to tell you.
"So, this is going to take some explaining." Jelim sighed. Her vibrant eyes hardened with the thousand-yard stare. "Predator Disease, as it is officially defined, is a catch-all mental condition treatable only by lobotomy, electroshock therapy, or heavy medication and contracted by exposure to predator taint. It's why we burn the bodies," she explained. Most of that sounds like bullshit to me, but okay.
"Of course, most of that is bullshit." Huh. Surprisingly self-aware, for an alien. "Predator Disease, as it really is, is a blanket term that can define anything from 'danger to oneself and others' to 'really likes trains' or even just 'loser with no friends'." Whoa. Holy shit. These people are drinking the stupid juice big-time. "A lot of times, you can get diagnosed just for not conforming to the system."
Whoa. Fuck stupid juice, these people are drinking the Nazi juice big-time. Fucking 1984 Thought Police juice.
"You..." I really did not want to ask this question. I really, really did not want to ask this question because this answer was not going to be the one I wanted to hear. "You said that people can be lobotomized? Because they're not complying with the system?"
Jelim shifted uneasily in her chair. "That's standard policy."
"And exterminators are the ones who handle the lobotomizing?" Please, dear Lord in Heaven above us God, who sacrificed His only son Jesus Christ as penance for our sins... I wasn't even Christian. Nor was I religious.
Jelim's thousand-yard stare changed from the stare of a man who had seen terrible things to the stare of a man who had done them. Even if she technically wasn't a man. "Too many do."
All that glittered was not gold. Jelim had, unfortunately, overseen this lobotomizing. She had to have. "Answer me honestly," I said. "Did you, at any point in time, 'treat' somebody for this illness?"
"Only the ones that needed treatment." Huh. Well, that's a start. That is a promising start. "I mean, just because most of the diagnoses are for things like deviance or noncompliance doesn't mean there aren't actually dangerous people out there." Fair. I could totally see a Venlil Alex Kruger running around after all this terrorist shit.
"Define for me exactly who needs treatment."
"Anybody whose condition makes them a danger to themselves or others." That answer was quick, given with practiced ease. "If they ask me to assess somebody who doesn't qualify, I fudge the test."
That's my girl! That's my fucking girl! "Oh, thank god." I chuckled. "For a second, I thought I was dating a Nazi, holy fuck." She looked at me funny. "The Nazis did a lot of bad shit. It's a long story." I slid my plate of goop toward the center of the table. "Yeah, and I'm really not hungry anymore."
Jelim stood up, took both our plates, and dumped them in a convenient food-dumping place. "I had it custom-installed," she explained. "My job tends to ruin the appetite." She sat back down.
"Yeah, that figures." For the record, I was not an eloquent man. If I knew something better to say at the moment, I would've said it. "Exterminators do shit. Like, actually really fucked up shit."
That thousand-yard stare was actually starting to get really worrying. "Yeah, it's... hard, knowing that. I don't know how some of these people sleep at night." Oh, it's actually really easy. Just close your eyes, think happy thoughts, and start counting sheep. You'll be out like a light!
She clacked her beak dryly, despite the fact she had been drinking goop just a few minutes ago. "You know, it's funny, this was so romantic and then we had to start talking about Predator Disease." She sounded almost mournful, which was usually a sign that something was wrong.
"Isn't that why you brought me here?" I asked. "So I could listen to you infodump about the way the Federation silences its dissidents?" She flinched at that last part. I noticed.
"Yeah, that." Well, damn. Credit where credit's due, that is an honest woman. "I wanted to know where I stood, morally, I mean. If I could still deserve to look you in the eye."
Fuck it. Fuck it. I may as well just say it. "You're an angel." She really was. Beautiful, alien, intelligent, maybe not a series of rotating wheels of fire, but you can't win 'em all. "You are a ray of light surrounded by clouds and I love you for it." Damn. I'm spitting some serious shit right now.
It had just occurred to me how badly Jelim could've turned out. The thing about vegan fascism, like any other fascism, was that it had one really fucking good propaganda machine. I had yet to see any of it, of course, but I figured that you didn't need to shout your message that loud if you could just silence all the other voices.
The thing about propaganda machines, even the really fucking good ones, was that they were never 100% effective. Something always fell through the cracks. "I'm an exterminator," said thing scoffed. "'Angel' is supposed to be a job requirement."
"I don't think angels get very far there." I had my opinions already formed about the Extermination Guild. They weren't good.
"Of course they don't," snapped Jelim. "The system is broken, and morality dictates you change it, but changing the system makes you its enemy. It's a battle you can't win." She paused for a moment. "The whole thing is built on fear, you know. Or, at least, that's what I choose to believe. The Federation is designed to protect and serve its constituents, and the exterminators are a symptom of that, but they're too paranoid to see change as anything but a threat. They lash out at it, like some kind of wounded animal."
"They've been fighting for their survival for, what, the past hundred years?" I replied. "I can't imagine what that's done to the Federation as a society."
"Nothing good." Yeah, that was just about the understatement of the century. "Honestly, the more I think about the Federation, the less I can justify it. It's an ancient system, one designed to remain stagnant, and it'll do anything to ensure that stagnation."
"Why, though?" I had to ask. "Evolution is the natural flow of life, you can either adapt or die." Judging by her face, this was resonating so far. The Federation brainrot had not kicked in. "So why in hell would they choose not to adapt?"
Jelim shrugged. At least, I recognized it as a shrug. "Quite frankly, I don't have the slightest clue why."
That gave me an idea. A really cool one, actually. "What about new cultures and things? I mean, with three hundred worlds, there's gotta be a fucking crazy melting pot somewhere."
"Oh!" Jelim chirped, also having had a really cool idea. "That just gave me the most wonderful idea." She got up and went back into the living room. I followed her. "I've been wanting to show someone this for ages." She held in her hands the big-ass book from that small table in the corner. An actual book. I hadn't seen one of those in ages.
"What is it?" I asked. "A big-ass book?"
"This," she explained, settling in one of the chairs, "is a collection of all the Krakotl culture's myths and legends from before first contact." Her voice turned sour. "All the surviving ones, anyway."
"They're usually told in song form." Jelim flipped open to a page near the middle of the book. I sat down in my own chair, which I found to be small as hell. I switched to the couch real fast. "Can I sing for you?"
I nodded. "Don't have to ask me twice."
She read the book, closed it, and put it to the side. "I never could understand this one," she said. "It's too metaphorical."
"Maybe I can figure it out," I suggested. "I'm no expert, but sometimes it just takes a different perspective on things."
"That's the idea." Then she stood, doing whatever singers do just before they start to sing. She cleared her throat. Then, like the choir that sang on the birth of Jesus, she began to sing.
"And here came they all from high in the sky, here came they all from on high," It was beautiful. Like the voice of an angel singing Jesus hymns, or the best Christian choir on two worlds. "And they broke the world with their steel from the sky, and all we had would die," Damn. That got dark.
"And all that we fought, for all that we bled, all it was in vain. It all was for naught, our heroes made dead, through cinder and through flame," This was a lament. A lament for a lot of shit. It was like if the Jews wrote songs about the Holocaust camps. At least, that's what I got out of it.
"They burned and they broke, and they left us no hope, submit or be destroyed," In Russia, people would conceal messages in their songs. Apparently, on Nishtal too. Even if I wasn't sure what that message was. "Our world became choked, by a gleaming foil rope, of empathy devoid," Jelim really did have a beautiful singing voice. Beautiful and tragic. She could make a killing as an opera singer of something.
"They poured us like steel into the cast of their whim, to burn out who we are. And those who did see, they did sing loud this hymn, to shield us from the stars." Her voice wavered on some of the high notes. I didn't mind.
"I sing for you here to keep who we are, until it may return. We sing far and near and we sing near and far, for song they cannot burn." She ended her song on the most beautiful note, such that it would make angels weep. I, not being an angel, did not.
"That was beautiful," I said. "Gives off war song vibes, but not good ones. Like, really, I think you lost that fucking war." Did the Federation, like, colonize Nishtal? Hernan Cortez that shit? I paused for a bit, rubbing brain cells together. "Sounds like the songs the Russian rebels used to sing, except less angry and more sad. Did the writer go through, like, an existential trauma?"
Jelim looked proud, for a moment, but there was also a sense of sorrow to it. Probably because it was a really sad song. "Not really, but it is really wordy. A lot of poetic prose, which was typical of a lot of works of the time." What time? "If it were produced later, I'd have assumed it was about an Arxur raid, but I don't know how it would make sense in the time period."
I had just realized I didn't even know when this was made. Normally, knowing that helped in understanding things. "When was this made?"
"Actually during the later stages of the uplift of Nishtal. It's one of the few surviving works from that period," Jelim explained. "It's funny, the rest are so upbeat and uplifting, it really does make you wonder why this one is so dark. I really don't know what was running through this guy's head."
"Sometimes, artists do stuff just for the shock value," I ventured. "I once heard of a guy who smeared his own shit on a canvas and tried to sell it to a museum. Asked for a lot of money, too."
"Well, yeah, but that's either a tax break or a sign of mental illness." The idea came to me that I should ask if Jelim would have had him sent away, but that was a stupid idea so I didn't actually go through with it. "I got Salvek the job."
He got the job. It's not what you know, but who you know! Or something like that. He could now take down a terrorist group while sipping Venlil gamer soda from his mother's basement, and honestly, I had to respect the hustle. "Thank you. It means a lot for him." And it was a lot safer than being shot at. That was another bonus.
"I still don't understand how he'll help, but you seem to have your head on straight. I trust you."
"I'm telling you, you need to look into electronic warfare." I started up a Lockheed Martin sales pitch. "It's an entirely new, uncontested field of combat. Winning engagements would be like taking candy from a baby."
"I'll keep that in mind the next time somebody shoots at me," Jelim scoffed. "I'll be sure to hack the bullets away."
"No, I mean, like, in space. Targeting sensors, missile guidance, all that shit is electronic." This was less LockMart salesman and more über autist, but I didn't care.
"That's an excellent point, but I'm not in space, am I?" Jelim chirped. "You have great ideas, but you need to stick to the here and now. You're a detective, not a soldier. Think detective."
I was a soldier, and you could tell I was a soldier because I needed other people to tell me how to think. "What if we just arrested every single terrorist?" Even if I didn't do it very well. We have evidence. Lots of it. We can lock these people up.
"That's what we're doing, Jack."
"Oh."
Jelim sat next to me on the couch. There were chairs, probably for parties or gatherings or some shit, but they were uncomfortable as hell. "We need to take things slowly, in stages, to ensure nobody slips through our net. Rest assured, we have them all under surveillance." Oh. That made a lot more sense. "Do you, uh, mind staying the night?" she chirped. That shit had me giggling like a six year old child with unrestricted internet access. By seven, they had probably seen too many beheadings to giggle. That was how things were.
Granted, I kept it suave and smooth on the outside. I had to play it cool. "Shit, I'd love to!" Great. Real smooth, Casanova. "Let me tell Salvek, so he doesn't think I died."
JackedMF: I'm gonna stay the night at jelims house
Salvek: what am I supposed to do about it
JackedMF: know? I don't want you thinking I died bro
Salvek: nobody thinks that
Salvek: I'm not sure if you even can be killed atp
You know what? I was going to take what I could get. A compliment was a compliment.
Naturally, I showed it to Jelim. "Look at this, he thinks I'm Rambo."
"You see, that is a remarkably civilian perspective to have." Jelim looked at the datapad, blinked once, and then flexed her talons. Damn sharp talons, too. "Claw in the right place, and things die fast."
Yeah, I think there's a lot to be said about how being an exterminator fucks somebody up. Like, you can tell she's seen some service.
"When did you join the Extermination Guild?" I asked. "Random question, I know, but I figure I should learn."
"When I was twelve." Oh. That explains it. "My parents are both former exterminators, active duty at the time, but they never forced any of it on me. I joined up of my own free will."
"Why? Twelve is, like, really young to be handling a flamethrower." That was a stupid question. If I had realized it was a stupid question, I wouldn't have asked it, but I didn't and now here we were.
"Honestly, I think I fell in love with the uniform." I had read somewhere that fascist societies loved their uniforms. I had also read a lot of other things about fascist societies, but I could only vaguely remember those. "All the pride and duty and service came after the fact."
I nodded, more to show I was interested than anything. "Figures. The Navy sure whipped me straight." It was the war that whipped me straight. The Navy just gave me discipline.
"Did you love the uniform?" Jelim joked. It was only kind of funny, but I could respect the hustle.
"I loved the money."
"You would never have joined the exterminators," she laughed. "It took me fourteen years and, honestly, I forget how many awards I have." She trailed off. Damn. That is a scary motherfucker right there. Even I haven't forgotten how many medals I have. "It took me fourteen years for me to finally make decent money at this job."
"You would have loved the military. Word for word. That's exactly what it was like." Besides the flamethrowers, of course. And the fascism. "Or the CIA, but the CIA is more hush-hush about it."
"The CIA?" Jelim asked. "Jack, you always forget that I don't know Earth. I don't know humanity like you do."
"Think exterminators, except spies. And without any flamethrowers. The only real connection is that they both do a lot of shady shit."
Jelim looked briefly offended, briefly confused, and briefly like 'oh yeah I did that shit'. Then she got real quiet. Like, real real quiet.
"You're not half bad, though. You're actually a decent human being. Krakotl being. Whatever you are, you're a good one." I tried to salvage the situation.
"Yeah, I'm a good person," she said. "I can count the number of good people I know on one claw." She wrung her head in what I assumed was sorrow. "If the CIA is anything like the exterminators, it needs to change. Adapt or die."
I nodded. "Damn straight. Adapt or die."
Jelim curled up closer to me, because her exterminator brain equated this with a romantic moment. I wasn't going to complain, of course, but I did find it a bit weird. "We could do it, you know." Huh? "Make a change." Oh. Huh. I was expecting that to go somewhere else.
"You could do it." I was supportive of my girl, of course I was, but I was also realistic. That was the important part. "I'm just a soldier."
"You're a human. About the finest specimen of one I've seen." That was flattering, but probably not true. I had done some shit. "I need someone to guide me, to show me what evil is necessary and what's better off excised." I honestly wasn't sure what that word meant. Last I heard, it was talking about cancer tumors. "Without you, I'd be lost. Shackled by chains I can't even see."
She looked up at me. I looked down at her. "Together," I said. "We'll do this together."
Yeah, exterminators by and large were mostly pieces of shit. Some of them, though? Some of them weren't half bad.

2024.02.12 14:07 saucy_boi27 type me pls!!

How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself. 15F
Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow? nope but i had a phase of slight OCD relating to germaphobia, i got over it tho yay
Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it? grew up w amazing parents and an older brother. Family was religious but not pushed on me that much, grew up just believing in God but not devoted
What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? im a student still
If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed? i love alone time so i would enjoy it for sure. i have a lot of hobbies so i dont think i would get bored
What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities? i am very athletic and i dont mind indoor or outdoor sports. i mainly play volleyball and weightlifting, i also go on frequent walks.
How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate? i grew up very curious about science so as a result i know a lot of little bits of info, i still am curious but not as much. i always have a lot of ideas and they are super abstract and i never really go through with them because i struggle putting my ideas into excecution and explaining them to others, im also scared of failing to get my point or meaning across.
Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be? i only take them on out of necessity. so if im in a group of more introverted people ill notice and take initiative, also if im more skilled in the task we need to do. i like to be a gentle leader when i am put into that position but i dont exactly desire that role and work well being told what to do.
Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity? i struggle with precise tasks, such as drawing a hyperrealistic image with confining materials like pen. i do like working with my hands since im a painter and just like crafts in general but i am definitely not good at making perfect creations if that makes sense. i prefer working with bigger brushes and a more dynamic/loose style of work.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer. i am superrrr artistic. i like to make oil paintings mostly and prefer portraiture. i also sketch and doodle a lot and im really good at literature such as writing essays, stories and poems. im also a musician (drums and bass guitar) and i like every genre with a preference for jazz and rock.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them? i dont think about the past much, but im ALWAYs thinking about the future. i feel like i always have a plan for the future and make many scenarios and think about what i would do if they were true. it sort of calms me down and makes me feel like i can get through any adversity because ive already imagined it and familiarized myself with that possibility. i dont think im that good at being present, but when i am i notice it and it definitely calms me down and makes me happier.
How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so? i love helping others and my friends say my number one trait is generosity. i help people because it makes others lives easier or more pleasant, which in turn makes me feel so fulfilled and happy. even small acts of kindness highlight my day and make me feel really happy,
Do you need logical consistency in your life? not sure what this question means tbh. if i understood it right then no i dont need it. i feel like trying to rationalize every action you do and have a reason behind it all is exhausting and unneeded, but i also dont like the idea of living in uncertainty and being very unstructured/spontaneous.
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you? i wish i was more productive but i honestly think its my biggest weakness. i am naturally intelligent but i have a bad work ethic and procrastinate to the absolute last possible second. i cant bring myself to work no matter what and i hate it. because i work under such small time frames i think ive inevitably become very efficient in terms of ingnoring small/insignificant details to get the job done.
Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that? i may be controlling by accident out of care for people. i feel a strong sense of motherly care for my friends and i always want people to be safe, so i may come across as controlling.
What are your hobbies? Why do you like them? i play video games, make art, play and listen to music, play volleyball and go to the gym. i like artistic hobbies just because ive always liked them since i was a kid and its an outlet for my emotions and complex ideas soemtimes. my brain works very creatively in general. i am also sporty because i like being strong and the idea of training to be better at manual tasks like carrying groceries or smth motivates me.
What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses? i feel like learning comes naturally to me. i feel like i understand something the most when i watch videos on it. i struggle with focus so textbooks and reading about the subject doesnt get into my brain effectively,
How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go? my work style is basically: avoid work>stress>mental breakdown from being so overwhelmed>make a plan like to do lists> do it in one giant burst of energy. in my art however i definitely improvise. i hate using grids and guidelines, even sketching before painting is somethjing i dont do. i prefer to just go right in with paint and work loosely.
What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally? professionally, i see myself working in a humanities related field, mainly art. the idea of being an art teacher is really appealing to me. personally, i want a really big family and i want to find a soulmate, i want to have at least 3 kids tbh.
What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why? im scared of disappointing people, especially my parents and friends. i am uncomfortable with the realization that i have to truly put in hard work if i want to get good grades or get a high paying job. i hate people who are too blunt or honest and are just ignorant of others feelings (it genuinely makes me angry). i also hate arrogant people who cant step back and be self aware. i despise passive aggressiveness so much.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like? when i achieve academic success, when i feel like im in tune with my creativity and im making lots of art. when im in nature i feel so genuinely happy. my highs can only be experienced if im not overwhelmed by upcoming responsibilities or tasks tho.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like? i get overwhelmed so easily and quickly, and my inability to work makes it so much worse. i also start to feel like my relationships are one sided. when my care goes unappreciated i self isolate and start to resent others. i feel very misunderstood because my public personality vs my actual self are not that similar. also my humor is very distinct but when i feel like im the only one laughing i can feel judged or feel like people think im lame.
How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so? i feel like i am never attached to the present moment so much so that i dont realize that im daydreaming. when i daydream it doesnt hinder my ability to do a task its just that im simultaneously daydreaming and my mind is elsewhere. sometimes i do zone out and stop what im doing and dont pay attention tho.
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about? i would probably think about what i will the next day. after that i would most likely try and just close my eyes and meditate or sleep.
How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it? not sure how to answer tbh.
How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life? a good amount of time. i feel emotions very deeply but it doesnt show. they govern my decisions and my motivations in life but i can also be rational.
Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why? yes just because i hate confrontation and would rather have the knowledge that someone has wronged me and that i cant trust them anymore rather than confronting them and then causing conflict.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why? i feel like most rules are there for a reason and can get behind them. i dont like people who dont feel any respect for the rules and feel no consideration for others in their actions. even small things like disturbing people while we are in public is something i hate when people do. i dont have strong opinions about authority. if i do break a rule it would be because i dont think it would affect others if i did break them.

2024.01.12 21:23 shylilanon I pretend to understand literature and film just to make myself seem interesting

I’m not super gorgeous or super smart so I have to be interesting. I tried doing this through being talented and I even took expensive ballet classes and singing lessons as a child and I tried being good at sports like volleyball but my skills are subpar compared to others. I finally found the key to being interesting is to like deep and complex films and books. I can’t actually tell the difference between something that’s intentional and something that tries too hard to be quirky. I honestly don’t even get Normal People by Sally Rooney and why it’s ok for her to not have quotation marks and yet other books get dragged for having no plot. I don’t get why poets like Ocean Vuong are praised so much and Rupi Kaur is criticized because her poems read like sentences but so many poems are basically like sentences. There was one film I watched that I really liked but then I read good criticism of it that said the main lead is bland and obviously written by a man and I felt bad that I didn’t get that at first glance. It’s so hard to keep up this facade of pretending to understand deep things and hate shallow things like Colleen Hoover novels. All I do is parrot whatever reviews and opinions I see that would make me seem the most deep and profound. At least I have something interesting about me.

2023.12.31 15:13 xPolskiSklepx CAUGHT gf >2 years CHEATING on me TWICE in the most UNHINGED, CRAZIEST WAY! Self-sabotage; Gaslighting; Deflection; Manipulation; No accountability; Emotional abuse..... and I still love her.

Hello, this is the first time I have ever written an article and I feel quite anxious so please bear with me.
It’s quite long - so I have split it across the comments too - but I trust you’ll appreciate the narrative.
It kinda reads like a script / kinda reads like a story / kinda reads like an account of the events, so I don’t blame anyone for not getting all the way through it (TL;DR at the foot of the page). However, this is as honest a transcript I can provide FROM MY PERSPECTIVE and from what I can recall from memory/texts/screenshots etc - I understand that my ex (or other parties privy to this drama) might contest my description or provide different opinions/accounts on the chronology and its content but I’m not attempting to arbitrate the truth.
Am I perfect? No, far from it. I too suffer the ills of man: insecurities, baggage, etc. But I am not trying to project this story through a vignette of perfection but more from the trajectory I’m sure many men and women in life have also lived and might somehow be able to relate to a greater or lesser degree.
Do I live with regrets? Absolutely, regret is a solitary sentence. Do I wish things had turned out differently? Of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing. However, I have always been unapologetically myself and tried hard to be a good person in life.
I know that as time advances, I’ll have more opportunities to reflect and grow to become a better version of myself tomorrow than I am today.
Feel free to leave your thoughts, advice and personal experiences at the end. Remember to always be yourself and share life with someone that chooses you everyday and not just when they are in the mood for you.
A note to ‘her’
I still love you dearly, I do not judge you or blame you for your actions and I forgive you for how you treated me because you gave me more experiences and wonderful memories in this life than you took away from me - despite the human urges I feel from time-to-time to really rub your nose in it. It becomes easier to forgive your weaknesses when I realise how easy it is to be weak myself.
I cherish and acknowledge the incredible times we had together (good/bad/ugly and everything in-between) and wish you all the best in life and pray that one day you truly find your soul and learn how to love and be kind to yourself because ‘she’ (you) is desperate to be found and deserves to be loved.
Being in love with you was never a promise that I would never let you down but an undertaking that I never wanted to let you down. I never intended to ever disappoint you but I always knew that there would be times that I would.
No relationship will ever be perfect: they are not impervious to lies, arguments, tears and calamities. However, these imperfections make love beautiful.
I hope you don’t forget me or us. I know I won’t. Keep on buzzing, little bee.
BACKGROUND
The good:
We are both at university in our final year and have roughly 6 months to go until we graduate. We got together in our 1st year and have been living together ever since - to clarify, we currently rent a flat together and we are the sole occupants.
I am extremely close with her family: I have gone to weddings, birthdays, extended family events, travelled on holidays with them, lived under the roof for 3-4 months at a time for the last 2 years and have even been called “a part of the family” by a number of family members and even been likened to “a son” by her mother and “good friend” by her father.
Her personal situation growing up wasn’t great. At age 10 her parents decided to get a divorce. Without going into too much detail, there were multiple counts of infidelity and the break up was extremely messy and traumatic for her to go through. Her relationships with guys following this were apparently not good: I heard stories of emotionally and physically abusive boyfriends and substance abuse which I think contributed to her emotional damage.
I have always done my best to support her in everything she does. She plays volleyball competitively for our university and loves the sport, so much so that I even took a specific driving test so that I could drive a minibus so she and her team could go to matches every Wednesday (I was never paid to do this; drives would often take 5-8 hours; I often had to write off an entire day to fulfil this task and would almost always arrive late at night 10pm-1am and would wake up early the next day 4-6am to go to the gym).
She would regularly be snowed under with her extracurricular activities, procrastinate and fall behind on uni work and leave it up to the last minute to tackle them, resulting in her getting stressed and applying for extensions. We both study science but within similadifferent disciplines, so some of what she learnt was transferable. To help alleviate her stress, I would help her write her essays and proofread her material etc - I will say that I’m not great at maths but she also helped me in that department, so it was mutual and I’m eternally grateful for the help she offered me and how she managed to handle my anxiety over this stress.
If I knew she was under pressure with time or would be coming home late, I would cook her meals and help pack her bag so that she was ready for the day ahead.
If she was sick or needed assistance I would get her what she needed, no matter the hour of the day - I’m some cases I would even walk to her old apartment and back at 3am (a 45 minute journey) just so she had what she needed.
If I could see that she was not feeling good or she was sad/depressed, I would write her little notes and draw pictures on post-its and stick them up around the house to let her know that I love her no matter what and that she is an incredible person that needs no validation from anyone. When she needed to fly abroad to go home I would drive 7 hours straight to get her to the airport whereby I would also had written her a letter to take on the plane with her, including pictures or poems. When she returned I would then always pick her up with a bouquet of flowers.
I’d consider myself to be loyal, trustworthy and independent. Due to this, I would never cage her up or tell her she couldn’t go out and I regularly encouraged her to hang out with her friends, have fun and party.I love her family deeply and have the upmost respect for them all. There were times that I would comfort her mother when she was upset and crying and there were times I would sit outside with one of her aunties and listen to her pour her 1am thoughts into my ears. Through it all though, there was an impression from her family that we might even get married and she even exclaimed on multiple occasions that I was her soul mate and the person she wanted to marry and have children with.
There are countless other examples but I hope the above paints a vivid enough painting of my unconditional love for her and how close our connection and bond was.
The bad:
A number of times, I noticed that she had a very short temper and could be quite aggressive. This first showed its face when I recall her getting incredibly stressed about an assignment and she picked up one of my pencils and snapped it in half and threw it across the room.
She had organised a surprise birthday party for me. After arriving in my kitchen in halls I noticed all my friends were there. After 15 minutes she walked out of the room. I followed her and asked her what was wrong. She told me that all I have done since the party began is talk to my friends and ignore her. I explained that she had thrown a party and invited my friends and that I was sorry if it came across that I was ignoring her but I was just thanking them for coming. I told her that I would ask them all to leave. I went back into the kitchen and made the excuse that she was not feeling well. When I returned to the bedroom she then told me she wanted me to leave. I didn’t return for 2 hours.
Following sex she stared at me and told me that she didn’t have any feelings for me, didn’t love me and said that I was just a replacement for her ex. I started to cry and went into the bathroom to be alone. Having been in the bathroom for 20-30 minutes, she appeared and held me and told me that she was sorry and that she says horrible stuff to me because she just needs to know that I love her.
On numerous occasions she would wake up at 2-3am in our student halls, wake me up and then tell me that she was leaving me. She would then start dressing and grab the keys. Id hold her and ask her to talk about what was going on but she would push me away and then leave. Most of the time she would walk down the road and sit on a bench. The first few times she did this she would return and say “Why didn’t you run after me? Anything could have happened to me out there and you just left me?!” I would explain her that I thought she wanted some space. Eventually, I would end up chasing after her: I guess just to placate any emotional fantasy that she wanted to play out at the time.
Just after our 1st year anniversary we went out together to a group social at a pool bar. I was randomly assigned ton a team with a girl I had never met before. This girl was promiscuous and kept touching me whilst I was trying to play. Not trying to come across like an absolute psycho I would lightly push her away, walk away from her or even tell her to leave me alone and stop touching me. Having seen this, my ex approached me and said “F**k this! You’re disgusting!” And ran outside. I followed. She started shouting at me with tears in her eyes claiming that I had cheated on her with this girl and I wasn’t doing enough to stop her. I told her that I wasn’t trying to be overly confrontational in such a public setting so as not to make a scene and that I assured her I had absolutely no romantic interest in the woman. Later that evening we went home. She immediately started tearing me off a strip when we arrived. She went into the bedroom and started slamming doors, punching the wardrobe, shouting, crying and telling me that I had betrayed her. She then sat down on the floor with tears in her eyes and told me that she didn’t want to be with me anymore and asked me to recite an obscure quote she had told me months ago. I couldn’t remember it despite trying my best - even with her prompting me the words to say. Eventually she said “If you truly love someone then you’ll let them go”. After which she said she needed to seriously think about our relationship. The next morning I wrote her a letter tom apologise and went into town to bring back breakfast and a plushie toy.
On a night out at a house party she got extremely drunk and started making out with girls. She then asked if when we went out to town that evening if would I be ok with her making out with more girls? I told her that I felt uncomfortable with the idea. Eventually she got so drunk that we ended up going home.
When were in bed at her house she woke me up to tell me that she was still in love with her ex and that she didn’t have feelings for me. She lives overseas and I still had 2 weeks left before my flight home so I asked her what that meant for us and my time there. She said she didn’t know and told me not to touch her, to pack my bag and move downstairs and sleep on the couch. I never followed through with these demands and things seemed to go back to normal.
She would regularly tell me which friends of mine she didn’t like or thought were a bad influence on me.
She had previously cheated on me earlier this year (2023) with a 1st year student. I found out by looking through her phone on Snapchat and saw sexy messages/pictures. When I confronted her about this she seemed mildly upset but I got the impression it was more concern of what other people thought about her and her reputation rather than how she had hurt me: I gathered this from when I told her I wasn’t prepared to drive the mini bus that day to their volleyball match and that if people asked me why we weren’t leaving to the game then she would need to explain the situation to them.
After this she went into the kitchen and slammed at kitchen knife into the counter, subsequently damaging it. We got back together a month later but not before she had decided to confide in a girl and tell her that I was a horrible person - presumably to justify her behaviour(?).
I took her back after she apologised and said she felt horrible for what she had done to me and that she would make it up to me. Seeing as neither he nor I knew each other personally, I was prepared to let it go. If I learnt anything from this situation though, it was the behaviour she exhibited learning up to her cheating and it was this pattern of behaviour that became all too familiar prior to the second time she cheated on me…
STORY TIME
It was around the end of Octobebeginning of November 2023 that I noticed a distinct change in her behaviour. She was:-
I could go on…
This behaviour had been going on for some weeks, even before/during/after our 2 year anniversary but it became more extreme shortly after our anniversary.
Things weren’t adding up and I started to get very paranoid, couldn’t sleep and felt sick daily. I had my suspicions as to who the guy was she was cheating on me with but I had no evidence. In the brief periods of the day that I was fortunate to see her I would ask her questions like:
Me: “Is everything ok? Do you still love me?”
Her: “Yes! Of course I do! Don’t be silly!”
***
Me: “I’ve noticed that you’re hanging out with this guy *name omitted*… should I be concerned? Is there anything going on there? Are you cheating on me?”
Her: “What? No! Of course not! I’d never do that to you. You’re crazy! You need to chill, I’m with you”
***
Me: “Do you still find me attractive? Am I sexy? Have you fallen out of love with me?”
Her: “Of course I love you! Yes, you’re sexy! You’re a hunk”
***
Her responses only temporarily settled me but I was never fully satisfied. I felt strongly that she was hiding something, so I decided to investigate…
HOW IT BEGAN
On a number of occasions I had felt very suspicious of her activities:-She hosted a karaoke social on campus and paid next to no attention to the fact I was there. When she went on stage to sing she sung “Can’t take my eyes off of you” by Frankie Valli. During her set when she sang “you’re just too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you” I noticed her stare past me and into the eyes of THE GUY I was suspicious off.
She hosted a music gig on campus and turned up late to the event. She phoned me up and asked me to grab the card machine etc to help set up the payments on the door. She had decided to go shopping in a nearby town with some friends but didn’t tell me who those friends were. When she turned up she arrived with THE GUY and he was wearing some pretty loud outfit and had hickies/love-bites over his neck. I complimented him on his outfit and my ex said “Right?! Doesn’t he look great? I helped dress him!”. It was a bit strange but I didn’t think too much into it. I then commented on his neck and he laughed, shrugged it off and didn’t say anything. That evening she came up to me a couple times, kissed me, hugged me but then shortly after I noticed both him and her had gone missing.
Things between me and her seemed a bit stale whilst all of this was happening. As mentioned above, she was regularly going out and not coming home. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary whilst this was all developing but even that seemed a little sterile. It wasn’t long until the situation started to develop further…
Her mother had planned a trip to come over and see us and had booked a nice hotel for us all to stay in but it was up to me and my ex to book the car to meet her mother there. On the day of the trip she told me she was going to go to the library to study before we left but she said she would be home by 3pm to collect the car with me (I couldn’t collect it without her as the car was rented under her card).
The clock struck 4pm and we needed to collect the car at 5pm. If we were late we would not only be charged but we wouldn’t be able to collect the car because the place would have closed.
I looked on our location app and I could see that she had disabled her location, I knew she studied in the library so I went there to look for her but couldn’t find her. I saw 2 of our mutual friends and they tried calling her to find out where she was but she didn’t answer. I then phoned her mother and told her the situation and she used Find-My-iPhone to locate her… she was walking next to the campus cafe near the student accommodation where I had seen her staying every night for the last week.
I ran down there and saw her walking next to THE GUY I had my suspicions that she had been seeing. Once I caught up with her she look flustered and surprised. I was pretty pissed…
DISCLAIMER: I did raise my voice but I never shouted and never used any derogatory comments or profanities - in fact, I have never used and derogatory words or profanities when we had arguments).
She just stared at me vacantly and remained silent the whole walk over to collect the car - even walking behind me.We collected the car and left. She was silent for most of the journey. At one point I stopped for gas and as I filled the car up I saw her through the window re-downloading SnapChat (she deleted it after cheating on me the first time and said she wouldn’t download it again - I never asked her to delete it, she did so on her own volition) and at the same time saw her messaging her best friend that I had been shouting at her and was being rude and nasty to her. I decided to ignore it as I wanted to move on.
After our time away from uni and when we were driving back she asked if I could drop her off at the library so that she could study. I did so at 3pm and then she never came home. Once again, she was staying at her “friend’s” place. She came home the following morning and I asked her if she wanted to hang out, she said she would love to but she was busy but that she would make it up to me. I told her that I felt a distance between us and that I just felt like an option to her not like someone she actually wanted to spend time with. She told me not to be silly and she said she loved me and she gave me a kiss.
We both made lunch and then I got a message from my friend asking if I wanted to see him. Seeing as she had plans already, I agreed. I went into the kitchen where she was eating and told her I was going out. She looked bothered by this and asked me which bus I was going to take and I told her the next one - this happened to be the same one she was taking.
We both got on the bus and she looked tense which was weird but because there was some tension brewing over the last few weeks I couldn’t really put my finger on anything.
We sat down on the bus and she sat opposite me instead of next to me - even though there was the option to do so. She then started texting on her phone and shielding her screen from me which I thought was weird but I didn’t think too deep into it because she then held my hand and stared into my eyes in a way that looked like love.
As we pulled up to our stop she asked me why I was going to get off at this stop as the next stop was easier for me to get to my friend’s place. She was right but I wanted to spend some time with her before I left but in the end I agreed to get off at the next stop.
As she disembarked I noticed THE GUY walking down the stairs from the top of the bus. It was weird because they obviously knew each other yet both him and her made no eye contact and seemingly ignored each others presence, which didn’t sit right with me.
After spending the afternoon with my friend I got a call from my ex and she asked me what my plans were for the evening. I told her that I had none and that if she wanted to do something then I would love to see her. She told me that she might be going to a Winter Ball with her friends and that I should just stay with my friend for the evening because I rarely get to see my friends. I thought this was strange and asked her why we both couldn’t go to the ball together but she didn’t give me an answer, so I left it.
That night she didn’t return home and stayed at her “friend’s” place again. The following morning I knew she had volleyball practice so I gave her a call to ask what time she would be back. She told me around 2ish and that she was going to play volleyball in her dress because she didn’t have appropriate clothes.
I thought what I would do is pack some stuff and head up so that I could give her kit that she could play in. I took the bus up but as I did I got a text from her asking me where I was going (The location app that we used gives notifications when the other person is moving). I thought this was strange.I didn’t reply and walked into the sports centre. She ran out of the hall to meet me and she looked really flustered, I figured it was because she had been playing volleyball but she looked shaky.
I gave her her stuff and then walked into the sports hall. I could see THE GUY and his entire neck and chest was covered in hickies/love bites. Immediately I was triggered and casually shouted over “Hey! *name*, what happened to your neck?!!” He was like “Huh?! What??? What are you talking about???”. Out of nowhere, my ex ran in and grabbed me and pulled me out and told me she needed to talk to me.
She told me not to worry about anything and told me to chill out and that everything was fine but she needed to talk to me about something. I started to get anxious and asked her if she was going to break up with me and she said no. I asked if she loved me and she said of course.
I asked her about THE GUY’s neck and she said it was a housemate of his that he’s been seeing. I asked her if she would be coming home after practice and staying the night and she said she would and that she would be back at 2.30pm at the latest. I asked if I could stay and watch her practice and she said no - this was weird because she always used to love me coming to watch her play.
I said I wanted to talk about this now and she got angry and said she had left all her stuff at her “friend’s” place and that she would need to go there and collect her stuff and she started saying “Do you really want to do this now? Do you really want to ruin my day? My practice?”. I decided not to push her any further and so I agreed I would see her later, we kissed and I told her that I loved her and then I left.
It got to 3.30pm and she still wasn’t home. It was raining at this point and I decided to call her - I could see she was at her “friend’s” place. She answered but sounded cold. I asked her when she planned on coming home and she said the only shoes she had were her heels and she didn’t want to slip over in them in the rain. I told her that she had walked in the rain in heels multiple times and she never slipped over. This pissed her off and she started to threaten to hang up the phone. I asked her if she could use the trainers I brought up for her and she said she couldn’t wear them outside as they were indoor training ones. I asked her again if she was coming home and she said she was but she wanted the rain to finish first and she didn’t know what time she would be back.
Unsurprisingly, she never came home and actually decided to go out that evening.
As I sat in bed watching Netflix on my laptop I would regularly open up our location app to see where she was. Eventually I saw her travelling back in the direction of home but she travelled straight past the house and ended up going back to her “friend’s” place again that night. I didn’t sleep a wink that night.
At 3.30am a notification pooped up stating that she had left uni campus and she was walking back towards home. She arrived back at 4am and looked surprised to see me awake. I told her that I hadn’t slept and that I am always up at 4am because I like to get ready for the gym.
She gave me a hug then went straight to bed. I was preparing my things for the gym but I felt a pain in my chest and I couldn’t and wouldn’t let this feeling go any longer.
I walked in to the bedroom and saw she had passed out. I grabbed her phone, unlocked it and went through her Instagram DMs and SnapChat. Just as I had suspected all along… she had been messaging THE GUY.
Some of the messages were dirty and suggestive, others were more on an emotional level. The sexual references etc I could get over but it was the more emotionally charged messages or at least the messages whereby they both would state how they missed each other that hurt me the most. And remember that time on the bus she was being cagey with her phone? She was messaging THE GUY upstairs telling him to “watch out *name* is on the bus with me downstairs”.

2023.12.16 12:50 JulieSongwriter Good morning, Ladies: #40

Dear Ladies 706ers!
Thanks for your many texts after our victory yesterday! Special congratulations to Bob and his friends on receiving "the museum smoking jackets once worn by Clark Gable." Folks, take a few minutes and read True's comment in case you missed it! No, True, no do-overs, but we will gladly give you The Honorary Best Snapshot Award!
Heidi and Lita, we see that your volleyball team pizza party was so successful. Congratulations! I appreciate your enthusiasm for us reaching 1000 Seeds but, honestly speaking, I am so busy at the Park with our Winter Wonder Land. I just can't take on your idea. I'm also sorry (not really) that your parents won't give you "Open Door Optional" permissions when you have sleepovers at each other's homes. Maybe someday (far down the road). Thanks for the invite to "The Fake Wedding of the Century" on the 27th but the trip is just too long for the Twinmen, Twinettes...and us. And, yes, anytime you guys want to come up here during the winter and freeze your butts off with us, we would be happy to have you 😘❗
Yesterday we received our January 2024 Living Buddhisms along with the December 8th World Tribunes. Both of them are dedicated to Ikeda Sensei. I can't wait to read every single article. But I would like to keep going with our "Good Morning Ladies" series focused on "Key Passages From The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings." Agreed?
So today we launch Part 5! Sensei's lecture is based on Nichiren's comments on the "Simile and Parable" and "Belief and Understanding" Chapters of the Lotus Sutra. The title of Part 5 is "The Mystic Law Is the Unsurpassed Treasure Possessed by All."
Sensei starts the first section with a poem from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832), whom he describes as "one of the great spiritual companions of my youth." He mentions that he used to recite Goethe’s poetry for his mentor, Josei Toda.
Where we gladly greet the sun Every care is gone at last; Each a different course may run, Therefore is the world so vast.
Sorry, Ladies, the translation doesn't work for me. So I looked up the source, p. 369, and read above a bit. Wow! Some day I am going to dig more deeply into Goethe.
Sensei mentions that in 1981 he and several Youth Division members visited Goethe's birth house in Frankfurt and "contemplated his magnificent life." He also talks about the SGI-Germany Villa Sachsen Culture Center, "a much-loved treasure of the community," located in the city of Bingen, which Goethe described as having “the most beautiful view of the Rhine.” He shares some more about Goethe:
Two decades ago [in 2003], I lectured to a room full of bright young students at Soka University on Goethe’s remarkable life and achievements and called on them to continue shining brightly like the sun, just as Goethe had done.
So, 706ers, are we going to shine brightly like the sun today? Right before the above quoted verse Goethe writes, "Cling not to your homeland's charms, / Take fresh courage, freely roam! / Strong and daring heads and arms / Everywhere can be at home." I take this to mean that we shouldn't be complacent. Wherever we may be, in whatever circumstances or moods, we can tap courage and "freely roam"-- and convert those conditions into a joyful "home."
It is said that Goethe’s mother once wrote to him saying that there are many joys in this world, if only one knows how to look for them.
The joy of living is the key to happiness in life. There is no greater treasure than the wisdom to freely find and bring forth joy and inspiration from the depths of one’s life [my italics].
My parents are inspiring us with this spirit. They have recently begun volunteering with a recent high school graduate who was elected to the local school board. Their specialty is psychology, not education. But that's not the point. It's just a short drive from our house in a leafy part of town to the inner city where they volunteer. But their faces and voices are so bright and youthful since they have undertaken this work. We can find and tap joy wherever we are, however we may feel!
Last night we kicked off our first Winter Wonder Land session. Guy had invited his friend Pastor "Adam" to officiate. We had about 35 people attend, maybe half from the Park and half from Pastor Adam's church. Pastor Adams started by saying the evening's theme would be "friendship." He mentioned that Jesus had many accomplishments. But one of them was that by the age of 30, he had made 12 good friends. He quoted from John 15:14 when Jesus tells his disciples, "You are my friends."
Five minutes. That was that. We broke into 6 "affinity groups" for 30 minutes. We discussed two questions: "Describe one of your closest friends" and "How can you make 12 new good friends?"
Awkward dialogue at first but it became comfortable and enjoyable. And then came refreshments. And that's when the mood became light, bright, and buzzing. A few new friendships were formed!
In the section Sensei mentions:
In the Lotus Sutra, there are many expressions of rejoicing such as “danced for joy” and “their hearts were filled with great joy.”
Did we reach "joy" last night? I would say we all got to friendly and pleasant. But at the end, I saw Guy and Pastor Adam talking--and they were joyful! After all, they were the ones who had planned the evening, invited people, and took the risk. Why shouldn't they feel joyful? And when we got home, Guy was a youthful dragon playing with the Twinettes, putting them to sleep, and enjoying our time with Commander Sisko on Deep Space 9.
Sensei continues:
None express greater joy than Shakyamuni’s voice-hearer disciples when they learn, through the Buddha’s wisdom, of their true inherent potential—that they are not excluded from attaining enlightenment as they were taught in the pre-Lotus Sutra teachings, but in fact are destined to attain it and then go on to help others do the same.
So, dear 706ers, let's grab some joy. Whether or not we feel it at this moment or feel entitled to it, we are destined to become happy. And then we will share this human right of joyful living with others. (Or order some joy from GrubHub).
Ready to start the day with a beautiful gongyo? Is your "originally inherent life state" awake yet? Ready for great year-end discussion meetings tomorrow? Ready "to write a triumphant history"?
Let us, too, as Soka Gakkai members who believe in and uphold the Mystic Law, each write a triumphant history pervaded with great joy by revealing our originally inherent life state, awakened to our true mission, through chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.
See you Monday. But I do plan to take some days off next week. Sorry!
TAG: I adapted this post from Part IV of Ikeda Sensei's lecture "Key Passages From The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings." To make it easier to read, I've edited out brackets and I have done some minor paraphrases of quotations. I've also left out sources and footnotes. If you are curious about them, please refer to the original article.

2023.11.13 06:47 NavdeepNSG I cried in this episode (Somin's farewell)

I cried in this episode (Somin's farewell)
I've been contemplating to write a sincere post for Somin ever since she announced her departure form the show, as this is the only platform where I can write my emotions truthfully.
But I've resisted the temptation. It's mainly due to the fact that a part of me still wanted to pretend that this news is nothing but a joke. Up until I watched the last minute of this episode, I was always hoping that somehow this news is a fake and she won't be leaving the show. But alas, we don't get what we want.
I started watching Running Man some 2 years back. During that time, I was struggling with studies having failed multiple times in a professional course. But watching this show helped me alleviate my troubles, even though for a brief moment. The biggest reasons I started watching this show is because of Lee Kwang Soo and Jeon So Min.
I'd watched LKS in Live and Sound of Your Heart. He is an incredible actor. Similarly, I watched JSM in Something About 1 Percent and her innocence just hit me straight. These two were the reasons I started RM and clearly I wasn't disappointed.
So Min is like a bright ray of sunlight. Her presence always made this show stand apart, be it her silly antics or being so overly emotional at times. I liked how she would go on to any lengths to make people entertained. Because of this, she earned the nick name of 'Crazy Frog'. While her inability to excel at the games was hilarious, it always surprised and wowed me how amazing she was in her spontaneous skits. Her dancing would give serious competition to even some idols and we all know of her amazing talent as a writer.
These are my top 6 most awesome moments of Somin.
  1. There was a foot volleyball game where she came up with the mattress. It was absolutely hilarious to see her unable to control it and Jong Kook fuming over her choice. But this turned out to be a stroke of genius as she put her mattress to good use and successfully defend some crucial points. https://www.reddit.com/runningman/comments/y2vzbs/crazy_somin_and_foot_volleyball_match_ep_486/
  2. That sexy poem on Haha is still the best. I like how she went from Crazy Somin to Somin who forced network to bump RM's rating to 18+. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUQBYH6AsVg&ab_channel=Sherrie
  3. Her pairing with LKS led to some crazy moments. Both of them were equally passionate and wouldn't shy away from going to extreme lengths to trouble each other. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7rApot3npY&t=170s&ab_channel=sNack%21
  4. So Min dancing with Black Pink. We all know how good is BP but JSM stood to her ground and actually https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5geev9RKEk&ab_channel=sNack%21
  5. That pregnancy skit. It was just so spontaneous and hilarious. Even the members were taken aback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMIpSEFqKY4&ab_channel=KOCOWATV
  6. Somin kissing Jo Hyo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytKHnrwHHG4&ab_channel=KOCOWATV

Farewell So Min. You are the reason I started this show and is still loving it. Your absence will surely be missed. I hope to see you soon in upcoming drama or movie.

2023.10.15 14:13 West_Stomach_5909 Just Curious

(19M) Finally got into uni and I realized that majority if not all of my friends just tend to talk about relationships, even the younger ones lol. So I've suddenly started thinking that maybe I should try getting into a relationship too, I do have a bit of experience but it all ended in not so good circumstances and after all that I just kinda stayed in my lane learning new skills, hitting the gym, playing multiple sports, reading and writing. Everyone's so intent on finding a girl or boy to talk to or fall for chatting multiple of them at once and talking abt who they like most and I dont really feel like doing smthn like that. I always feel like the odd one out because I'm not the type of guy who just hits up multiple girls, I'm more of a if I genuinely like you then I'll make a move. I'm decent guy, I do have looks said by multiple people both male and female (I'm usually mistaken as koren lol) tho maybe on the average height side (5'6), I am a former highschool athlete (plays basketball, can play volleyball, badminton, and also trains boxing and muaythai), also known for being a writer(songs, poems, stories and articles) and an academic achiever. Not that famous but pretty well known.
I just have really bad luck with girls due to unfortunate circumstances. All the girls I liked kind off just happened and I wasnt trying to find them or hit them up in their dms. And now I want to ask do I need to get desperate? To find and hit up girls? (PS: last realtionshipnI had was 3 yrs ago)

2023.09.07 01:23 yeetinghelps I am so tired

My best friend and I chatted at the park and asked each other who had it worse among our circle of friends. She told me, it’s me. I’ve told her it ain’t me because I still have some of my allowance and i don’t consider that as broke. I don’t experience so much physical abuse and i don’t know how to differentiate normal to emotional/mental abuse. I always think that the problem always lies within myself but whenever i do something wrong i try to be better. Unfortunately, the outcome is, the opposite of what i’m expecting. She got it worse in my opinion since she experience’s almost every abuse in her family.
I just don’t understand how i feel tired and drained that this is the most suicidal i’ve ever been in my life. (I’ve been suicidal since i was a kid.)
At this point, that woman, Wonyoung coming to my country soon is the main thing that’s keeping me sane. I’m glad i see her poster every time i wake up, it somewhat gives me some motivation to do what i have to do. But sadly, it’s just temporarily :(
I don’t know, maybe i’m way too soft. I tried every hobby that i could afford but nothing sticks on me. Volleyball, Soccer, Skateboarding, Biking, Table tennis, Cubing, Reading, Lock picking, Playing guitar, Keyboard, Drawing, Painting, Skincare, Cooking, Lifting, Calisthenics, Coding, 3D building, Poems, Journaling, Music making, Chess, Tetris, OSU!, Video games, Sudoku, Crosswords, Abacus, Dancing, Butterfly knife tricks, Fishing, Photography, Clay modeling, Driving, Fish keeping, Making a video game, Making a website, Taekwondo, Learning random subjects, Learning Spanish, Rocket making, etc.
I’m :((

Have a great week and enjoy exploring all the great things Baton Rouge has to offer!

Fun Fact: Mark Twain loved Baton Rouge but hated the Old State Capitol. He wrote, “Baton Rouge was clothed in flowers, like a bride – no, much more so; like a greenhouse. The magnolia trees in the Capitol grounds were lovely and fragrant, with their dense rich foliage and huge snowball blossoms.” His words for the Old State Capitol were a bit harsher, “It is pathetic enough, that a whitewashed castle, with turrets and things – materials all ungenuine within and without, pretending to be what they are not – should ever have been built in this otherwise honorable place.” I am sure most of us will disagree with Mr. Twain’s opinion on this historic building.

20. 2023 Music on the Lawn Concert Series Finale with LP Kelly Christiansburg Library, Christiansburg Saturday, August 26, 2023, 6:00 - 7:30 PM Admission: Free Christiansburg Library concludes their 2023 Music on the Lawn concert series with LP Kelly. The sound of LP Kelly comes broadly from the early days of American roots music: when bluesmen sang from front porches on hot afternoons; when swing bands played dances in speakeasies late into the night; when being an American troubadour was a trade. Whether performing as a multi-instrumental one-man-band or appearing ensemble as Old Man Kelly and The Streetsweepers, it’s original music that still sounds familiar. A couple of guitars, a banjo or two, an arsenal of harmonicas, and a whole lot of guts. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening under the stars. Feel free to bring a picnic as well. This concert is rain or shine. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside. Link: http://www.nextthreedays.com/FeaturedEventDetails.cfm?E=707892

It was Rachel Signer's dream to be that girl: the one smoking hand-rolled cigarettes out the windows of her 19th-century Parisian studio apartment, wearing second-hand Isabel Marant jeans and sipping a glass of Beaujolais redolent of crushed roses with a touch of horse mane. Instead she was an under-appreciated freelance journalist and waitress in New York City, frustrated at always being broke and completely miserable in love. When she tastes her first pétillant-naturel (pét-nat for short), a type of natural wine made with no additives or chemicals, it sets her on a journey of self-discovery, both deeply personal and professional, that leads her to Paris, Italy, Spain, Georgia, and finally deep into the wilds of South Australia. Four fantastic wines will be available to taste and Chef Bryan will create a pairing board of house–made appetizers, cheese and charcuterie to accompany the tasting.
