2024.06.02 09:14 mcclanenr1 [PS5} H: Alan Wake 2, Prince of Persia LC, Helldivers 2, Expeditions and more below. W: Someone with similar interests (SP AA, AAA and Indie games) for LONG TERM PS5 sharing

H: PS Extra (claimed 90% of all PS+ Essential games since 2013)
Digitally purchased games:
Long term share would mean we basically take turns buying the games we both want. For example I would buy Star Wars Outlaws and you buy Assassins Creed Shadows, the next game after that I would buy and so on. Thats for typical full price games. Cheaper games we can handle on a case by case basis. I'm not very pedantic in that regard.
Future games I'm interested in buying: Most Sony Exclusives, SW Outlaws, AC Shadows, Astro Bot, V Rising, Stalker 2, Space Marine 2, Metaphor Refantazio, Plucky Squire, MGS3 Delta, GTA VI, Little Devil Inside, Still Wakes The Deep, Judas, Death Stranding 2, Dragon Age 4, Wolverine, Next Mass Effect, most Metroidvanias and other interesting indie games.
If you can see yourself taking turns buying these games with me (not necessarily all of them) comment below or DM me. I am not interested in short term sharing.
My PS+ Extra ends next month, I will extend it for a year. After that if we share you would buy a year for us to share.

2024.06.02 05:54 a_modest_espeon [H] Lots of Games, Please Look [W] Games(See Below)/Offers, Wishlisted Items, and Paypal

I am currently taking paypal for games, you always go first and cover fees
For game trades, you always go first and message me, usually it takes me about 1-2 days to get back to you at the latest
My Rep Page has not been updated in about 5 years, but I have a lot of trades finished
Bolded items are just the ones I would like to consider keeping so don't feel as though you need to offer more for the game

2024.06.02 01:07 CIAHerpes I live alone in Alaska. The Twisted Man has been peeking in through my windows.

A few years ago, I decided I needed a major life change. Everything seemed to be going downhill- my finances, my mental health, my life. I would go weeks without sleeping sometimes as the heavy traffic passed through the city streets down below. Every time I went outside, I saw more homeless people, more needles and crack pipes littering the ground, more muggings and assaults and overdoses and deaths. The city had become a wasteland, and I knew it was time to leave.
I had no girlfriend, no wife, no kids. My parents had both died a few years prior and I barely talked to my siblings anymore. I had nothing to tie me down to this place where I felt like I was dying inside a little more each day.
That was when I sold nearly everything I owned, got in my car and drove up to Alaska to try starting anew. I bought a small cabin and a plot of land in the middle of its majestic mountains and dark, enchanting forests. In the winter, the Northern Lights would shine through like the eyes of God, sending out divine trails of light that danced through the sky in cosmic waves.
And while the move did help give me some peace of mind, in the end, the source of all my problems had ultimately followed me thousands of miles into this endless wilderness. It would take me a long time to realize the cause of all this misery was myself.
Because, as a wise man once said, “Wherever I go, there I am.”
***
I lived in that cabin for three months without any major issues other than the constant threat of bears, moose and wolves. I had a rifle and a shotgun for hunting, a small garden in the backyard and a solar panel to generate electricity.
“This is the life,” I said, relaxing on a hammock I had strung across the corner of the cabin while staring at the endless beauty directly outside the window. White-capped mountains loomed like giants in front of thick clusters of evergreens. A virgin covering of fluffy snow made the entire world glisten and sparkle. There wasn’t a house or road in sight.
“No work, no stress, no pollution, no cars honking all the time…” I closed my eyes, breathing in the clean air. I ended up falling asleep for a couple hours, waking up just as the Sun had started setting. Bright orange streaks mixed with the bloody smears of the fading light as it disappeared behind the mountains.
I groggily arose, stumbling over to make a cup of instant coffee. As I sipped it, I wandered around the room, looking for something to pass the time. There were still quite a few random objects left behind by the last owner that I hadn’t gotten rid of yet. I had moved in to find a stocked bookshelf filled with classics by Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein. Bored, I started rifling through the collection, looking for something good to pass the time. As I shuffled past “A Maze of Death” and “Ubik”, something caught my eye.
A black, leather-bound book with no title or author name stood there, its cover faded with time and wear. Curious, I pulled it out and opened it. I saw the cursive scrawled across the pages in a neat, copperplate script and realized it was a diary left behind by the previous owner. The first entry was dated “January 9th, 2015.” This is what it said.
***
“I don’t know if I’m going crazy or not. I went into town to talk to my therapist yesterday and she said I should try writing everything down. She talks to me like it’s all in my head. But I know it’s not.
“When I first moved into the cabin, it seemed like Paradise. I never thought in a million years that something would be slinking around at night. I never thought it would be hiding under my bed, peeking in windows and following me like a shadow.
“Right now, I’m snowed in with a cup of coffee in one hand and my pistol in the other. I can’t sleep anymore. I keep hearing something shuffling around under the bed. Sometimes, I think I even hear ragged breathing, as if a corpse with dirt in its lungs had come back to life.
“I’ve caught glimpses of that thing in the darkness. Whatever it is, its skin is loose, almost falling off the bone. It almost looks like a naked, emaciated man. Its eyes are rotted and dark, its back hunched, its spine twisted and jutting out like tumors. It moves in this slow, jerky way, but I can never seem to catch it. Its body seems broken and out of alignment. Its legs bend the wrong way sometimes.
“By the time I turn on the lights or try to take a video of it, it’s always disappeared. But its fetid odor remains. It lingers in the cabin like a sweet-smelling, spreading infection.
“I don’t know what it wants from me. I want to leave, but with the storm raging outside, I’m stuck here, unable to get all the way back to town. The snow surrounds the cabin in mounds five feet high. I feel like a prisoner caged with a rabid beast, not knowing when it will strike.
“My wife claims she hasn’t seen or heard anything, but she keeps vanishing on me. Last night, she disappeared in the middle of a snowstorm. Where did she go? I asked her in the morning, but she said she was here the whole time. She didn’t remember anything. There’s no way she went into town. There wasn’t time and the trails were impassable that far down.
“Something’s going on here, but I don’t know what it is. I’m truly scared for our lives.”
I slammed the diary shut, not wanting to read anymore. I didn’t want to become infected by some kind of contagious cabin fever. If the last owner had gone insane in the mountains and started hallucinating naked corpses crawling around, I really didn’t want to know.
I shoved the diary back in the bookshelf, going for “A Maze of Death” instead. I tried to forget what I had read in the diary as I flew through the novella. All night, I tried to get the image of the naked, twisting man with rotted eyes out of my head, but I couldn’t.
I eventually fell asleep right before dawn. But, as my eyes were closing, I thought I saw a silhouette in the window- a starved man with excited, black eyes that seemed to be rotting out of his skull. I thought I saw him put his inhumanly long fingers against the glass as he leaned forward. I blinked, sitting up and glancing out into the white, snow-covered wonderland.
There was nothing there.
***
Another hunter occasionally followed the deer trails near my cabin. A frozen lake stood a quarter-mile away, the surface white and covered in thick drifts of snow. I bundled up, deciding to go outside for a hike in the frigid dawn. I strapped on my snowshoes and grabbed my shotgun, as I always did when I went outside. I never knew when a polar bear might be waiting around the next tree, after all.
I opened the door, seeing footprints pressed into the snow all around my house. At first, I thought it was that silhouette I had seen, the nightmarish thing from the diary. But the footprints didn’t go over to my window. They followed the trail twenty feet away, veering off towards the frozen lake at the bottom of the hill. I glanced down in that direction, seeing a black figure plodding slowly forward.
“Steve!” I cried, recognizing my only neighbor in a four-mile radius. He had a cabin about a mile away on his own little plot of land. He jumped, clearly startled by the sudden noise. His black snow pants and heavy fur coat swished together as he spun, raising his rifle high. When he saw me, he immediately lowered it and put a gloved hand up in a friendly greeting.
“Hey Josh! Surprised to see you up this early,” he yelled over the muted wintry landscape. Sounds always seemed different after it snowed, as if all the noise in the world had become faded and dead.
“Yeah, I’ve been having a little trouble sleeping,” I said, slinging my shotgun around my shoulder. “What are you doing anyway?”
“Just a little hunting, you know,” he said, giving me a sly wink. “Animals are always most active around dusk and dawn, it seems. That’s when I always have the best luck, anyway.” He stepped close to me, staring me in the eyes. “You do look like shit. Those bags under your eyes are big enough to carry groceries in.”
“Yeah, trust me, I know… Hey, this might sound a little weird, but did you know the previous owner of this cabin?” I asked. Steve’s wrinkled, old face fell into a scowl. His expression immediately became guarded and distant.
“Sure, sure, we met,” he exclaimed bluntly. He seemed to be searching my face for something, but I didn’t know what. His reaction left me feeling off-balance and nervous.
“Is he still around?” I said. Steve’s scowl deepened.
“Buddy, I don’t know what this is about, but he’s dead. He’s been dead. He died in that cabin, actually.” He pointed a finger at my home accusingly. With those words, my heart seemed to drop into my stomach. Waves of dread flowed through my body like water.
“How… how did he die? Like a heart attack or something?” I asked. Steve’s gaze turned downwards. He didn’t meet my eyes.
“Do you know that Alaska has the highest missing persons rate in the entire United States? It’s not even close. In fact, for the population size, we have far more people who go missing and never get found than anywhere else. They even have a name for it: the Alaska Triangle,” Steve said. “And we’re square in the middle of it.” I stared blankly at him, wondering where he was going with this. It seemed like a way to avoid answering my question.
“No, I didn’t know that…” I responded. Steve nodded, raising his head again. He heaved a deep sigh.
“Look, the thing with the last owner and his wife… it’s somewhat disturbing. If you really want to know, I’ll tell you, but it’s certainly not going to help your peace of mind. And it definitely isn’t going to help you get some sleep.”
“I want to know,” I insisted instantly. The wind started to whip past us. Flakes of ice and snow flew sideways in the sudden currents.
“Let’s go back to your cabin then,” Steve said, pulling his heavy fur-lined hood off and shaking out his long, black hair behind him. “I could use a bit of whiskey to warm up.”
***
We sat down with a bottle of Johnny Walker and two shot glasses. I wasn’t much of a drinker, but Steve certainly was. He chugged three shots in the span of a minute. I sipped at mine, drinking half and putting it back down on the coffee table with a thunk. Steve grunted, hissing through his open mouth for a moment.
“Ugh, that’s the good stuff,” he said, slamming his chest as the burning liquor worked its way down. Steve looked up at me with a new sparkle in his eyes. “Huh, so you want to know about what happened to Will Lenning. Well, I’ll tell you that no one really knows the whole story. I used to see him occasionally, come down and have a drink and talk. We all know each other around here, obviously.” I nodded, motioning him on. “He seemed like a normal, upstanding guy. He kinda reminded me of you, actually. A young guy trying to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life, the cancer of the American Dream.
“Well, he was here for maybe a couple months, I don’t know. Everything seemed fine. We used to go skeet shooting occasionally, have a beer, you know. We’d get together with a couple other hunters who live closer to town and sometimes play some poker. I never saw anything odd about Will. I never could have predicted what happened to him.” He heaved a long sigh at this, looking out the window at the sharp mountains with an expression of nostalgia.
“Well, what happened to him?” I asked, encouraging him to go on.
“He started talking about seeing someone peering in through his window at night. He talked about hearing sounds from under his bed while he was laying there in the dark- sounds like diseased breathing and shuffling. He started keeping all the lights on in his cabin twenty-four hours a day.” Steve leaned close to me. A glimmer of fear rippled across his pale, wrinkled face. “He started to lose his mind. Started digging holes all over the place, looking for something. Even in the middle of snowstorms, I would occasionally see him outside, digging. It seemed like he never slept anymore. It was classic cabin fever if I ever saw it.
“It was only a few weeks later that I came over here, concerned. I hadn’t heard from him in a few days, which was fairly unusual. I found the door hanging wide open. Propped up in a chair in the exact spot where you now sit, Will lay with a blast hole showing clear through his skull, a shotgun laying at his feet.
“And next to him, I found a blood-stained diary opened to the middle page. The last entry was stained with blood spatter, but still visible. I remember leaning down and reading it. It was only a few sentences long.” I glanced over at the bookshelf with the same diary, saying nothing.
“It said something like, ‘I see now what’s going on. The Twisted Man is leading me to the truth. Today, I will finally find it.’”
“And that was his suicide note?” I asked, my heart hammering in my chest. He nodded.
“Yeah. I went into town and got some rangers to come check it out. Eventually, they got cops and CSI there. They took all the stuff as evidence, including the diary,” he said. “Good riddance, I say. Reading something like that is never beneficial. Sometimes delusions spread like a virus, you know what I mean?” I did, but I said nothing. I glanced back at the diary, its black leather cover gleaming like a crouching snake.
And I wondered- if the police took the diary as evidence, how did it get back here?
***
“You said he had a wife living here with him, too?” I asked.
“Yeah… she went missing around the same time,” he said. “Pretty bizarre. The cops thought maybe she just moved away, but…” He shook his head grimly. “As far as I know, she was never seen again. It was like she had evaporated into thin air.”
After Steve left, I walked stiffly over to the bookshelf, taking down the diary. I flipped open through the pages. In the middle, I found the last entry. Spatters of old, darkened blood were scattered over the page like raindrops. I found the suicide note and read the date.
“January 27th, 2015,” it read. Will Lenning had not lived long after he started seeing the Twisted Man. I wondered if my fate would be the same.
The Sun had started to set outside as I sat with the diary at the small circular kitchen table, eating some stewed venison and rice as I read through the entries. At the end, Will Lenning said the Twisted Man had been trying to guide him somewhere, that, in fact, the Twisted Man had been trying to protect him from some great evil, rather than being the source of it.
I scoffed, feeling a flash of anger at his stupidity. His naivety obviously led to his death. But then a flash of insight struck me like lightning.
What if I was committing the same kind of stupidity? Perhaps I should just grab my gun and valuables and leave. I could take off on the snowmobile and be in town within a couple hours.
But, in my heart, I knew I would not. Something about the mystery of all this beckoned me to stay. Like a siren leading sailors to destruction, my curiosity called out to me, and I knew I would not be leaving that night. I needed answers.
And, sadly, I would find them.
***
I had fallen asleep with an empty bottle of beer in my hand. I sat in front of the TV, which only got satellite reception. There were, of course, no cable or phone lines threading their way through the forest. All of my power came from stored solar energy. Since I rarely watched TV and really only used it to cook or heat up water for bathing, the energy produced was sufficient even in winter. Tonight, though, I needed its sound, its mindless flashing of light and colors and canned laughter. It seemed to drive away the creeping, suffocating presence like a candle.
I woke suddenly. The TV flashed with static. The repetitive hissing of the white noise spit from the speakers like thousands of snakes. I glanced up at the clock. 3:33 AM. I looked around the dark cabin, confused for a long moment. I didn’t understand what had woken me so abruptly. The satellite had never gone out before, either, even with the howling winds and freezing hail of the Alaskan winter.
The TV started flickering as if the static were rising upwards. Black lines traced their way horizontally across the screen. The hissing deepened into a gurgle, and for a second, I thought I heard faint words behind the white noise. I thought I heard breathing, slow and diseased, like the death gasp of a drowning man.
A black line rose across the TV and an image came into view. The cabin was suddenly plunged into silence, except for the shrieking, wintry wind outside. I leaned close to the screen, confused at what I was looking at. It looked like a live camera feed of a room. As I took in the details, I realized it was my cabin. I saw myself in the chair, leaning close to the screen. I raised my hand, and the miniature version of me on the screen did likewise. Ice water seemed to drip down my spine as waves of dread coursed through my body.
“What the fuck is this?” I whispered, looking back to where the camera should be. It was just a coarse wooden ceiling in that corner. I turned back to the screen and nearly screamed.
The TV showed a pale, naked man crouching directly behind my chair now. With jerky movements, he rose, his broken spine twisting and shivering. A hissing voice rang out from the speakers. It spoke as if it had dirt and writhing maggots in its throat.
“He is a killer. The shadow of death,” it gurgled. “Many have fallen. Many lie buried across this forest. You will be next. He is watching you…”
Long, broken fingers with blackened nails reached out to touch my shoulders. I jumped out of the chair, stumbling back as I spun around in terror. My back smashed into the TV, and it fell to the floor with a shattering of glass and an explosion of light.
In those few moments before the darkness descended on me like a blanket, I thought I glimpsed a pale, sunken face with rotted, blackened eyes peeking out from behind the chair.
***
I turned on every light in the cabin, but there was no sign of the Twisted Man now. I knew I had to get out of there, though. I thought about the warning that the voice had spoken. If the creature wanted to attack me, then why hadn’t it just killed me while I was sleeping? None of it made sense. Who was watching me? The Twisted Man? And if he was, why warn me? Perhaps it was psychological warfare, I thought to myself. Perhaps the Twisted Man simply liked to play with his food before he ate it.
Thoughts raced through my head at a thousand miles an hour as I threw on snow pants and a couple heavy sweaters and coats. I covered up my entire body as much as I could to try to prevent frostbite. I had made up my mind to flee. There was no snowstorm tonight, though the entire landscape was blanketed in it and I knew the wind chill would be like an ice blade whipping against my skin. It was extremely dangerous to travel in the middle of the night like this in temperatures that might reach negative thirty degrees. Steve had been right, after all- Alaska had the highest missing persons rate of any state, and many of them were never found, their bodies likely frozen solid in the deep snow dozens of miles from the nearest town.
I grabbed my shotgun, jumped on my snowmobile and started heading to Steve’s cabin. I hoped I could wait there until the sunrise and then figure out what to do next.
But fate would take the decision out of my hands.
***
I felt like there were eyes watching me as I drove along the narrow, winding deer trail. The boughs of the evergreens reached into the path like greedy hands, grabbing at my coat and legs. More than a couple times, I thought I saw a pale, naked figure standing in the snow, but it had always gone when I turned to look.
I gave a sigh of relief when Steve’s place appeared in the distance. I could see the lights twinkling through the small windows of his log cabin. I pulled up next to his door, looking down. I saw two pairs of footprints there, one much smaller than the other. I found it odd, but shrugged it off. The snowmobile cut out with a sucking gurgle.
I knocked on the door hard a few times. Steve appeared after a few moments, groggy and half-dressed. He blinked slowly as he looked me up and down. His wrinkled face fell into a frown.
“Steve, I need a favor,” I said quickly. “Something weird is happening in my cabin. Can I stay here until morning, until maybe I can go to town or something? I can’t stay at my place tonight. I just can’t.” He nodded, yawning and motioning me in.
“You can sleep on the couch, I guess,” Steve said. “Put that shotgun somewhere safe, though, boy.” He had a partitioned bedroom in his cabin. It was significantly larger than my little one-room cabin, though it was basically still just a joint kitchen-living room, a small bedroom and a bathroom. He pointed to a well-worn couch in the corner and gave me an apathetic wave as he stumbled back into his bedroom, slamming the door.
I couldn’t sleep, though. I tiptoed around the room, looking at Steve’s bookshelf. He had a rather strange taste in books- lots of Anne Rule and true crime there. I saw dozens of books about Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Chase, Herbert Mullin, Jeffrey Dahmer and Richard Ramirez among the collection. At the end, a large, black binder stood, unlabeled and worn-looking. It reminded me of the look of that leather-bound diary for a second, and my heart dropped. But logically, I knew this was just a coincidence. Yet, still, I pulled out the binder, my curiosity piqued.
What I found inside filled me with dread and horror.
Countless news clippings covered the length of it. The first clipping was from nearly twenty years earlier, about a woman who went missing in the Alaskan forest while hiking. A later one confirmed that her body was never found, and that her family was still hoping that she might turn up alive somewhere. A reward was offered for any information, it said.
And every page after that was more of the same: missing woman, murdered prostitute, missing man, no leads. I kept flipping through until I found clippings about Will Lenning’s suicide and the sudden disappearance of his wife. On the article about the suicide, Steve had used red marker to scrawl, “HA HA!” next to it.
I heard the click of a gun being cocked from behind me. I froze as Steve’s voice traveled across the room like a whisper.
“How do you like my work, friend?” he asked, his tone jovial and mocking.
***
I still held the binder of horrors tightly in my hands as I stared open-mouthed at this man I thought I knew.
“It’s you? What, you killed Will Lenning and his wife? And a lot of other women, apparently.” Everything felt unreal, as if I were stuck in a dream. Steve’s grin spread across his face, but his blue eyes stayed cold and dead.
“Yes, well, she was cheating on him with me anyway. Just another whore, you know. They always get what’s coming to them in the end,” he hissed with hatred oozing from his voice. “It’s too bad, really. I just killed another slut tonight. I was planning on saving you for later. The urge isn’t too bad yet right now, after all. It comes in cycles, you see. It comes in waves…” I saw a glimmer of pale, naked flesh writhing behind Steve. With jerky movements, the Twisted Man came up behind him. I said nothing, just watching with wide-eyed horror and amazement.
“You need help, man,” I whispered. Steve laughed.
“Help? The only help they give people like me is a needle in the arm. You know that. That’s why it’s important to always cover your tracks…” The Twisted Man ran a long, broken finger across Steve’s neck. Steve gave a strangled cry and jumped. He spun around, screaming. I glanced over at my shotgun next to the couch.
I jumped for it as Steve turned back to me, firing his pistol twice. The first bullet soared high above me, raining wood splinters down on my head, but the second ripped into my leg. A cold, burning pain ran like fire up my shin. I screamed in agony and battle fury as I gripped the shotgun, spinning and firing.
Steve’s head exploded as the slug ripped through his brain. His forehead collapsed like a smashed melon as bone splinters and blood sprayed the wall behind him.
The Twisted Man stood there, hunched over, grinning up at me. I felt warm blood gushing from my leg as I stared back at him, breathing hard. I wondered if I was dying.
“You… you weren’t after me at all, were you?” I asked. “You were after… Steve.” But the Twisted Man said nothing. After a long moment, he slinked back into the shadows of the bedroom and disappeared.
***
As night crawled its way toward morning, I thought back to the words the Twisted Man had spoken through the TV, suddenly understanding everything.
“He is a killer. The shadow of death. Many have fallen. Many lie buried across this forest. You will be next. He is watching you…”
He hadn’t been trying to hurt me at all. He had been trying to warn me. He had probably tried to warn Will Lenning and his wife, too.
I wrapped my leg in gauze, gritting my teeth. The wound looked puckered and deep, but I could still move my foot, and the bullet had gone clean through the flesh. I poured alcohol on it, screaming in pain as it burned its way through my skin. After rummaging through Steve’s bathroom, I found some prescription painkillers and swallowed a handful of them with a beer. I knew I would need the opiate high to get through the pain of riding into town with a mutilated leg.
As the Sun finally rose, I made my way outside the blood-stained floors of the cabin to my snowmobile. Before I left, I glanced back at that horrid place, the scene of so much torment and death.
In the open doorway, the Twisted Man stood, his back hunched, his rotted lips grinning at me. His hand lifted up into the air with jerky movements and waved.
I waved back as I started the engine and headed into town.

2024.06.02 01:06 CIAHerpes I live alone in Alaska.

2024.06.02 00:15 KyleKKent OOCS, Into A Wider Galaxy, Part 020

~First~
Harriett The Spy AND HHH/Herbert’s Hundred Harem
The sensation of Null on her was never pleasant. Sure, with the Axiom her new shape was perky, bouncy and looked like a supermodel’s idea of a supermodel on Earth. But with Null in effect... everything drooped painfully. She leaned on the table and heard Jurgen’s deep breathing.
“Thirty Seconds.” Lloyd states as she watches the three doctors work. Gin may be in charge, but he’s clearly not the only star of this show. With Doctor Lorn assisting him and Doctor Howard peeling off the larger chunks of Blood Metal things are moving quickly. Half the nightmare is already off and being moved into containment. Continual cracking and snapping sounds as the thin metal is broken apart to be taken away piece by piece.
“Third neural area taken care of.” Doctor Gin says.
“Forty Seconds.” Lloyd says as Harriett shifts as the Doctors start moving faster.
“We’re ahead of schedule. One last piece of metal on neural tissue.” Doctor Gin says.
“No remaining metal in the tissue in this part of the crater.” Doctor Howard says. His operating position is awkward as hell with Doctor Gin and Doctor Lorn as he has to reach over All Lady’s core and stay out of the way of the more delicate part of the procedure, but he still has surgical training and can still safely peel the Blood Metal off and away from the poor woman.
The medics are quickly rushing up and taking away all the Blood Metal while it’s forced into dormancy and then right into a bio-hazard container. That is going to be sealed into a trytite and lead lined case once they have it all.
“Fifty Seconds.” Lloyd counts.
“Delicate part done. Let’s get this shit off her.” Doctor Gin announces. All three doctors shift around and quickly start peeling the nightmare of the woman and...
“Sixty Seconds.”
Blood Metal clangs as it’s thrown away and then shifted into containment in rapid order. Chunks the size of dinner plates are stacked up fast and efficiently.
“Seventy Seconds.”
They finish peeling off the metal and high powered lights are shone on the core to see clean through it. Tiny slivers are located and pulled out.
“Eighty Seconds.”
They scan over the core again and then glance to each other before giving things a third scan.
“Ninety Seconds.”
“We’re clear. Let the Axiom in. Patient is free of Blood Metal and can begin standard Axiom restoration.” Doctor Gin says.
“She’ll recover a little sooner as well. I adjusted the dosage after seeing her first sample of it.” Doctor Howard says as the lights that flickered out with the Axiom scrambled start to slowly start glowing again.
“Waking up fifteen minutes after surgery is fine.” Doctor Gin says.
“Since when is Fine enough? We’re looking for healthy, and the less drugs in a patient’s system the better. We add them as needed and no more, otherwise we can cause further damages. The addictive nature of anaesthetics are well known among humans and we are intensely toxin resistant by compare to something like a Slohb, the less I give to any patient the better.” Doctor Howard answers and there are some noddings.
“So how much sooner will she wake up?” Harriett asks as the pain slowly tapers off as the Axiom returns and breathing becomes something she can do without leaning forward and resting the boulders on something.
“Any minute now. It was hard to calculate the amount of anaesthetic she would need in either surgery without knowing definitively how much of her anatomy is dedicated to digestion, neural tissue, sensory tissue or other vital organs. Each one processes it differently, but all of them are linked together, normally in a single, sphere, but each bump is a partial sphere with any one of a number of differing organs inside it, and she has bumps on the bumps of her bumps bumps.”
“Did you have to say that in rhythm?” Doctor Gin asks in a grumpy tone.
“Do you have to be a giant asshole?”
“So that’s a yes then.” Doctor Gin concedes even as the gel starts to shift again. “Already?”
“Hmm... too soon. I’ll need to run the numbers again.” Doctor Howard notes to himself.
“So is she safe to approach, or am I still an infection hazard?” Jurgen asks as he looms over the surgical tent.
“You’re fine. The girl just needs to let herself heal a little and she’s fine. The benefit to working on a Slohb is that their slime repels almost all known infectious agents. She’s producing more and her injuries are covered. She will be fine.” Doctor Lorn says.
“That’s a relief... Now...” Jurgen begins to say and then stops as the gel starts moving.
“Is... is it over? It feels like it’s over.” All Lady asks without forming any tendrils. Holding herself still as if afraid.
“Hold on a moment. The last bit of Blood Metal is being sealed away.” Harriett says before the final lock on the bio-hazard containment latches into place.
“Sealed!” A Medic reports.
“Good. Get that nightmare out of here and away from this poor woman.” Harriett says even as All Lady reconnects to her gel and things start moving.
“So it’s over? I can use Axiom on myself again?”
“Yes.” Doctor Gin says. “There are no longer any traces of...”
The gel RUSHES around and then rushes onto the core only to vanish. Like an entire waterfall landing in a single shot glass and being unable to fill it. Then suddenly it does as Dark Blue Gel surrounds the core and then it seems to invert and a singular, transparent and delicately detailed Gel woman is lounging in the surgical bed.
“I haven’t been able to be small and cute for years!” She exclaims in a giddy tone. “I can store all that gel again and my core! Oh this is great! I’ll be able to go up top! Feel the sunlight! Not starve as I feel myself bud over and over again without ever having a child... Oh thank you! Thank you little humans! This is everything I wished for but didn’t dare think I would truly gain.”
“Alright, so the patient is recovering... I hope? How did you hide your core like that?” Doctor Gin asks.
“One of the earliest Axiom techniques a Slohb learns, one I couldn’t use with that terrible stuff inside me.” All Lady says before she shifts around them. “Hee hee! I just shifted my everything between two people standing near each other! It took one move!”
“So I take it that you’ve gotten everything you’ve hoped for and more?” Jurgen asks and then in a single move All Lady launches herself onto him and wraps around his torso before rising up from it to hug him around the head.
“Yes! Yes yes yes! Thank you for bringing them! I was right to ask you for your help this is amazing I can finally leave this place!”
She then flits off him and shifts around the entire tent in moments. “Oh there’s just so much to do now! I couldn’t risk going anywhere if I couldn’t hide more core as is proper but now I can jump around as much as I want! Oh thank you!”
“Alright, calm down ma’am. If you can bring your core back for us to check, we need a final sample to make sure you’re not growing addicted to the anaesthesia or having grown dependant on the Blood Metal.” Doctor Lorn says and All Lady flits back into the tent, engorges her form over the surgical bed and suddenly her core is in it and she slips away from it ever so slightly. She pulls away all her gel and only a thin film covers it as the core, now much healthier, produces a little more. Doctor Lorn gently gathers some of the gel in a vial.
“Thank you, stick around until I’ve finished testing this.” Doctor Lorn says and he immediately begins testing.

Tiaria looks up as the door to her cell opens and she draws herself up to lambaste whoever it is thinks any of this is even slightly acceptable. Only to see a tiny figure pushing in a chair. They then rush out before she can question anything and returns to push in another, then repeats the pattern with a third.
“What is...” She begins before he rushes out before returning with a small trolley covered with treats and drinks that he drags in behind himself.
“Nearly there!” He says before sticking his head out of the room. “Miss Bleat! It’s time!”
“Bleat that...” Tiaria says before a woman wearing the mask of The Daughter walks in. Then out of the trolly the child brings out a Mask of The Midwife he holds out to her. He then puts on a mask of The Son as she takes the mask in confusion. “Wait... what is...”
She freezes as she recognizes the woman.
“Told you.” The little boy says as he pours a few drinks and then grabs a can of something cold and bright purple out of the trolley. He opens the can and it causes a strange sound before he drinks from it.
“So, do you feel sorry?” The woman in The Daughter mask asks.
“What?”
“I recognize you. It’s still you. You pushed me so hard into giving my assets up.” Miss Bleat says.
“I’m sorry, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Tiaria says simply.
“Then why’d you look so funny when she first came in?” The boy asks.
“I’m sorry, who are you young man? I can tell you’re a young man. Truly young. Healing comas leave a certain trace and you only have a touch of it. Likely no more than enough to save your life from an accident.”
“Enemy action actually.” The child notes as he takes a sip of his drink. “We got you. Now we need the other.”
“The other?” She asks.
“Who wore The Mother mask?” The boy asks and her eye twitches in memory. “So you DO know! That’s wonderful now...”
“I want my lawyers.” She says.
“Your assets are being looked over. You’ve been very, very naughty.” The boy says.
“Who are you?” She demands and he taps his mask. “You’re no son of mine.”
“You have no sons at all.” Herbert says before pointing to Miss Bleat. “Now, don’t you think you owe this lady an apology?”
“Excuse me?”
“She’s been having a very hard time after you and your friend took everything from her. At least an apology would be nice.” Herbert notes.
“...!? Is this all about an apology?”
“It’s about a lot of things. An apology is just one of them.” Herbert says.
“... Your insane.”
“Nope.” Herbert retorts before snagging a cookie. “Now you wanna play nice? Or nasty? Because you’ve played pretty nasty so far.”
“I have rights.”
“And you have trampled on the rights of others. Do you want to be treated in the same way you’ve treated them?” Herbert asks.
“Who are you?”
“Agent Herbert Jameson of the Undaunted.”
“You...”
“By many standards I am a child. However, I am also working with The Council and many of it’s powers and associates to get our hand on what The Darnaxian Concurrence got up to because it is a world of trouble. Literally, the whole world has felt it and...”
“...dead...” Tiaria mutters.
“Excuse me?”
“She’s dead! The woman in charge of it all! She’s dead! We were planning on keeping Bleat there in the know, pay her back and everything but the woman with all the codes and all the plans died to a stupid conspiracy that tainted the food supplies of a restaurant! One day things are fine, then she misses a call in, I go looking and I find out I missed her dying by six hours! She is deader than stone! Throw an engine into her corpse and all you get is dust because she is dead, cremated and done! The whole thing is finished! I lost all contact after that because there were no higher ups and there was no one else with any information! Dead! Gone! Wasted! Stupid! Finished! After everything she promised and planned and wheeled and dealed and scammed she didn’t have a single stupid backup so the moment she had a stupid accident with her goddess damn Llanwrack steak sauce being tainted the whole thing fell apart!”
Tiaria slumps back into her chair like a puppet with it’s strings cut. Panting, furious, exhausted emotionally and looking down until a bottle is placed in her view. It’s a personal favourite of hers. She tears out the stopper and downs it.
“What was her name?”
“Mariandia Lowbridge. She died of Lulathi Poisoning. Her favourite sauce has an identical taste and... She was dead in her seat. No one noticed until the waitress tried to get her attention far too late to help her. Just slumped down and done. I don’t know what she was making. She said she stumbled onto something big from an old club and kept it to herself. Said there would be big money in it and no one would get hurt. She just needed someone to keep things safe, which was me, and some start up funds, which was Bleat.” Tiaria says gesturing towards Gina who’s taken off her mask to just stare. “So what was the big secret? If people are getting kidnapped over it and The Council is taking interest it must have been big. What was the score? What was Lowbridge’s big promise?”
“... Blood Metal.” Herbert says.
“What?”
“A very rare metal that can normally only be created by turning someone’s own Axiom against them. It tortures the person to death and produces a few milligrams of the stuff.”
“What in the...”
“She found a way to make more, a lot more. Set up a lot of systems to automate things so well that we have literally the largest stash of the stuff in the history of the galaxy now. The price is incalculable because Blood Metal is illegal to own due to it’s horrific manufacturing method.”
“But if it could be produced safely, and en mass we could have named a price. Any price.”
“No. You see, Blood Metal is dangerous unstudied and could do anything. Just looking at it makes anyone feel uneasy, and the method of it’s mass production has contributed to the horrible nature of the bottom ten levels of the spires. Even worse, we have found one more thing it can do, which is that it will stab itself into a Slohb and torture them into budding uncontrollably, but render them unable to split, causing them to grow without end. There’s no telling what it would do to other races, it twists Axiom and draws it in too. Eating it for lack of a better term. There could have been a lot of money in it for you. But it would have only been a matter of time until everything went wrong.” Herbert says and Tiaria just stares into the middle distance, seeming to age centuries in seconds before she sighs.
“So it was all just a waste of time? Even if it worked, it would have just made us public enemies?” She asks and he nods. She slumps down into her seat and throws the now empty bottle away. Thankfully it’s plastic and not glass, otherwise it would have shattered. “So what now?”
“We confirm things, and then we see from there.” Herbert says. “Care for another drink?”
“Yes, please.”

There was a harem anime where the main character avoided doing anything because one of the girls might be her sister. Next to the main character, there was a girl bodyguard who dressed like a boy, and MC ended up with the black-haired girl.

2024.06.01 22:48 Nimble_the_Humble The Exotic Squad's Reactions to Commander's open Harem

I bet:
Crow: She would be more surprised than mad for the commander to actually have an open harem with the lines of: "I knew you got the Rizz but.. this was unexpected."
Warning: might throw some grenades as a joke.
Viper: She would literally poison the commander, make him unconcious, keep him in her private outer-rim hotel room, enjoy him all by herself.
Than proceed to talk to him seductively on how he is such a bad boy and she will be a naughty girl just to fit the role as the counter part. The only thing is: she isn't just being sexual.
Jackal: :IS THIS A TUG!? LET ME PLAY TOO!"
Proceed to pull the commander's arm with other Nikkes almost ripping the arm off.
Yeah I am bored and sleepy.

The Kingdom of Camelot, Arthur's Castle
Footsteps and whistling echoed throughout the hallway as Lancelot made his way through the castle's corridors , the young man , now a honored Knight of the Round Table and one of Arthur's closest friend and advisor was dressed in his silver and white armor , his long blonde hair tousled and untidy yet he still was able to look as handsome as ever .
Reaching the double doors of the throne room, Lancelot gave a few casual raps on the wooden material before proceeding to let himself in.
" Your most magnanimous majesty ! " He called out in a casual and humorous tone , " To what urgent matter do you need my humble assistance for ? "
However, the humor in his tone was soon lost , as Lancelot realized something amiss in the throne room , that being the lack of other human beings inside the room .
On days where he was holding court for visiting nobles or subjects , Arthur's throne room would be a vibrant place , filled with lights and laughter as they all shared tales and drinks with one another . Meanwhile two row guards would be standing vigilantly by either side of the room , trying their utmost best to remain professional despite their own king's lax attitude towards the standard procedures .
In stark contrast , the throne room now was barren of any life save for Lancelot at the back , and Arthur at the pedestal where his throne was located . The king stood with his back turned towards Lancelot , shrouded mostly in darkness save for the dim light cast by a few candles that were already halfway melted . The sudden change in ambience caused a slight shiver to go up Lancelot's spine , but nevertheless he took a step forward and addressed his king again .
" Y-your majesty , is everything alright ? " The knight asked tentatively as he made his way over to the throne .
" Do you know why I called you here Lancelot ? "
Lancelot froze , never before had he heard his best friend's voice so cold and spiteful , something definitely was wrong , could it be ? No , there was no way he could have found out , they had ensured only to meet in secret whilst no one else watched !
" N-no , I do not , " He answered shakily , a trickle of sweat running down his forehead .
It was only then did Arthur turn , an unreadable expression upon his bearded face , with a dark shadow cast over his eyes . The king's hand rested heavily on Excalibur's pommel as his eyes seemed to stare daggers into Lancelot's soul , something was definitely wrong here , Lancelot had never seen the usually jolly and care-free Arthur ever look so mad and spiteful.
" Indeed ? " Arthur replied , walking slowly to the other side as he inspected his gloved hand , a dangerous aura seemed to follow him which made Lancelot even more nervous , " And you are certain you don't have anything of great importance or secrecy to tell me ? After all we have been friends since childhood , I would think that I could handle even your darkest secret . "
" M-my King ? " Lancelot stuttered , any confidence of charm he previously had now completely gone , " I'm not sure I follow ? "
Suddenly Arthur seemingly flew into a rage , as he grabbed a candle stand with his hand and flung it to the floor , the ornament smashing into pieces with a loud , " CRASH ! " Causing Lancelot to flinch at his friend's outburst.
" Still you lie ? " Arthur snarled , " To think I once trusted you with all my heart and soul Lancelot ! Perhaps I need to spell it out for you to help jog your memory ? If so , I have only ONE thing to say to you ! G-U-I-N-E-V-E-R-E ! "
Lancelot's face was now so pale it matched the color of his armor , Guinevere was the Queen of England and wife of Arthur, her beauty unmatched in all the land. And it was because of that beauty , did she and Lancelot begin a passionate love affair behind Arthur's back .
It was just small flirtatious remarks and secretive winks at first , but Lancelot and Guinevere's relationship very soon evolved into something much more than that , with both of them meeting privately under the cover of darkness where they got much more intimate than they let on to be in public .
Although he felt awful for betraying his king by doing something like this behind Arthur's back , Lancelot's lust and Guinevere's charm led him to continue keeping this dark secret from his best friend , foolishly hoping that the king would never find out about it .
" A-arthur … I … I "
" It's funny isn't it ? " Arthur interrupted spitefully , " To think that my own wife and the person who claimed to have my back from the very start , would sneak around behind my back , doing … THIS ! What's the saying Lancelot ? The worst thing about betrayal is that it doesn't come from the ENEMY ! "
With that, Arthur screamed a battlecry as he held Excalibur aloft , charging towards Lancelot with murderous intent . The latter's eyes widened as he just barely managed to draw his own sword to parry the blow , and with that , the two former friends engaged in a savage battle .
" All those years whilst you were courting my wife behind my back , did you ever feel any sort of regret or shame ? " Arthur roared as he swung a heavy blow , sending Lancelot flying backwards from the sheer strength of his swing .
" I … " Lancelot started , but he was immediately interrupted by another brutal attack from Arthur , who in his rage-filled frenzy , had abandoned all sense of calm and order . The King of Camelot's attacks had no technique , just pure barbaric rage as he charged forth with his blade swinging wildly .
Lancelot barely had time to duck and roll to the side before Excalibur's blade came crashing down at the spot where his head was a moment before , in all his years of serving under Arthur , he had never seen his friend fight with such viciousness and savagery .
" Arthur , PLEASE ! Just stop and let's talk like reasonable people ! " He desperately pleaded as the King of Camelot advanced upon him .
" Talk ? What is there to talk about ? " Arthur replied , " I thought you were my FRIEND ! And then you go and pull this sort of STUNT behind my back ? You two-faced BASTARD ! I so desperately hoped that Mordred was lying to spread discord when he told me about your affair , but now I see that even HIS words hold more truth than yours ! "
" M-mordred ? "
Mordred was another one of Arthur's Knights of the Round table , but unlike his fellow knights , who earned their spot at the table through honorable and heroic deeds . He had earned his through his vast amounts of strength and power alone . As such , he was known as the most cunning and ruthless member of the round table , with many other knights disliking him greatly or just tolerating him at best .
" Mordred indeed ! He came to me reporting your betrayal and my wife's infidelity ! And to think that it was he of all people to do so ! Goes to show just how much I've misjudged the both of you ! "
" W-wait Arthur ! " Lancelot tried reasoning with the king once again , " I know what I did was wrong ! And yes I admit to my wrongdoings ! But you can't trust Mordred ! His every move always has some sort of ulterior motive behind it ! "
" Oh isn't THAT rich ! Especially since it's coming from the likes of YOU ! " Arthur roared as he suddenly charged with Excalibur raised above his head .
" Arthur NO ! " Lancelot cried as he instinctively swung his own sword upwards to parry the king's strike . However , due to his current rageful state and poor form , Arthur's guard was non-existent , and as Lancelot's blade flew upwards , a gush of blood spilled from across Arthur's face , as the cold hard steel grazed his flesh .
" ARGH ! GOD DAMN IT ! " Arthur howled as he stumbled backwards , holding his hands over his face and dying his gloves crimson with blood .
" Arthur ! Oh god ! Are you alright ? " Lancelot cried out as he rushed to help the king .
" STAY BACK ! " Arthur snarled , causing Lancelot to back away , the King of Camelot removed his hands from his face . Revealing the bloody scar that now ran from his right cheek to his forehead , the gruesome wound that he had inflicted upon his own friend caused Lancelot to retch , disgusted not only by the scar , but by his own actions as well .
" You bloody BASTARD ! " Arthur growled as he picked Excalibur up from the ground next to him , " I'll KILL YOU ! "
But before Arthur could charge at the stunned Lancelot , a beam of blue light pulsed throughout the room , causing them to momentarily shield their eyes . And the next thing either of them knew , Merlin had appeared in front of Arthur , his hands outstretched , preventing Arthur from moving any further towards Lancelot .
" ARTHUR ! Seize this rage-filled foolishness ! " The wizard commanded loudly , hearing his mentor's words seem to calm Arthur down enough to stop and listen , " I know your anger is justified , but we have MUCH more pressing issues at the moment ! "
" What ? " Arthur barely had enough time to say anything , before the throne room's double doors burst open , and an armored guard came rushing in , huffing and puffing loudly .
" Your majesty ! I bring terrible news ! Sir Mordred has amassed an army of his own with the help of your step-sister Morgan Le Fay ! And the two of them are leading an attack on Camelot right now in an attempt to take your throne ! We need you on the front lines IMMEDIATELY to lead the troops !
Arthur's eyes widened in a mixture of anger , fear and disbelief , " Bollocks … Mordred that treacherous LEECH ! He used Lancelot and Gunievere's love affair as a distraction ! Fuck … Tell the men to hold the fort as long as they can ! I shall be there to assist them as fast as I can ! "
" Understood ! " The guard replied , before turning and exiting the room .
" Goddammit … " Arthur cursed as he rubbed the temples of his forehead in frustration with his eyes closed .
" W-what should I do ? "
Arthur's eyes snapped open as he and Merlin turned to glare at Lancelot who had just spoken .
" Do ? Whatever do you mean by that Lancelot ? " Merlin said spitefully with a look filled with disappointment and disdain , " You've betrayed the trust of your own king by sharing his queen's bed , and by extension betrayed the very kingdom you swore to serve . I think you've done more than enough damage , no ? "
Lancelot felt like he was melting under the steely gaze of his former friend and mentor , his mouth opened and closed immediately afterwards, as he tried and failed to come up with a proper response .
" I-I'm sorry … I'm … So … So sorry . " Was all the disgraced knight could manage as he hung his head in shame .
" You're sorry ? " Arthur suddenly spoke up , " A bit too late for that now don't you think , Lancelot ? But since you're SO sorry for what you've done , here's one thing you can do to even BEGIN, trying to make amends . "
Lancelot looked up hopefully , but felt his soul plunge into his stomach once more as Arthur's bloodied and spite filled face leaned towards him and spoke the following words with resentment and hatred ,
" Leave , flee , run away , and take that filthy harlot along with you too . I NEVER want to see either of your miserable faces near my very presence EVER again . "
Lancelot's face paled once again , the knight stood still for a moment or two before he finally regained control of his senses .
" A-as you wish , my king … "
With that , Lancelot turned and ran , as fast as his legs could carry him . Out of the throne room , out of the castle and out of Camelot . Away from his former life , and away from his former friend who now hated him with every fiber of his being .
Once Lancelot had left , Merlin turned to Arthur , expecting his protege to let his emotions go now that they were alone . Instead , Arthur was beginning to fasten his armor and was in the process of wiping the blood off his face , as he prepared for his battle against Mordred and Morgan Le Fay .
" A-arthur ? Are you alright my boy ? " The wizard asked gently , hoping to provide some level of comfort to the king .
However , Arthur did not return his mentor's concerned gaze , all he did in response was simply pick up Excalibur and testing it's tip to ensure it was still sharp , before beginning to walk towards the doors which Lancelot had just left through .
" I'm fine Merlin , " He replied in a monotone voice , " Now if you excuse me , I have a war to win . "
Merlin pursed his lips tightly , before sighing and giving Arthur a slight bow , " As you wish , my king . "
As Arthur prepared to exit the room , he suddenly felt that something was amiss about his current attire , yet he just could not put his finger on it . So the King of Camelot began to pat the sides of his pants , before finally realizing what was missing .
" Merlin … " He said with a slightly frantic tone , as he turned back towards his mentor in a panic , " Have you seen Excalibur's sheath ? "
Merlin now felt his own face pale , as a trickle of sweat dropped from his forehead , " I-I thought you had it with you ? I did tell you to keep it by your side at all times ! "
Arthur grimaced as he realized the horrible predicament that he was now in . His troops were currently struggling to fend off invaders without his leadership , he had just chased his strongest knight out of the kingdom for their betrayal , and he currently did not have the magical healing powers of Excalibur's sheath by his side … There was only one word that Arthur could use to sum up all his feelings right now .
" Bollocks … "
( Present Day )
" Wait , wait , lemme guess . Because you didn't have Excalibur's sheath with you at the time , You were gravely injured during your fight with Mordred , and died from your wounds afterwards . Am I correct ? " Nezha finished .
" That is the gist of it, yes . " Arthur replied with a simple shrug .
" Damn , my condolences , anyway lemme make a wild guess again . Once you entered Valhalla you sought out Lancelot , had a little heart to heart , and somehow managed to get over your animosity towards each other and became the best of friends once more. Did I get THAT part correct as well ? "
Arthur chuckled softly as he shook his head , " Nope , you didn't … Far from it actually … Like you , I still held on to my hatred and resentment for Lancelot back then , so the moment I entered Valhalla , the only thing I could think about whilst I was first there was finding him and making him pay . "
" W-what ? " Nezha gaped , that was an answer he definitely did not expect to hear come out from Arthur's mouth .
" Indeed , for so many centuries , I sought Lancelot out , challenging him to duel after duel , each more vicious and deadly than the last . Sometimes I still can hear the deafening sounds of our fights if I close my eyes and listen carefully , but despite our countless battles , neither of us were able to strike that killing blow .
" S-so what happened next ? " Nezha asked now very much enthralled in Arthur's tale ,
" Well one fateful day , I finally got the upper hand , I managed to disarm Lancelot and finally had my sword pointed at his throat . At that moment , I could have finally gotten my revenge , I could finally make him properly pay for the great betrayal he had committed against me … "
Nezha leaned forward , completely enthralled in Arthur's tale and anxious to hear what was next .
" But I didn't … "
Somewhere in Valhalla , a century or so prior
" GAH ! " Lancelot cried as his sword was sent spiraling out of his palm , the knight barely had time to hold his injured arm before he was roughly knocked down to the ground by Arthur with a blow to the chest . Leaving the knight gasping for breath as he lay on the floor .
He quickly caught his breath however, when the tip of Excalibur loomed in front of his chest , causing him to hold his breath . Looking up he saw Arthur , multiple cuts adorned his chainmail armor as blood stained his vest , the King of Camelot was also struggling to catch his breath , but his eyes were filled with determination and anger as he moved his sword tip closer to Lancelot's flesh .
" Well ? " Lancelot said as he coughed up blood whilst tilting his head to look upwards at the sky , his armor badly dented and his face bruised and battered , " Looks like you finally got me in the end , eh Arthur ? Guess even after all these years , I just could never grasp Merlin's advice on seizing the offensive . Ah … You know , I'm actually alright with going out like this … "
Arthur did not respond , but his eyes narrowed in confusion as Lancelot continued to speak .
" These fights have been going on for what ? a few centuries or so ? Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it had already been a millennia since we first started this . " Lancelot momentarily paused to cough , causing drops of blood to speckle the front of his armor .
" At first , I absolutely dreaded these fights , having to face you countless times in battle after all I've done to you ? Fighting desperately to keep my place in the afterlife ? Even though we're in heaven , it felt like fate was punishing me with my own personal hell … But to be honest … "
Arthur tensed as Lancelot shifted till he was resting on his elbows , but still the King of Camelot did not yet strike the killing blow .
" After the thousandth battle , when the intensity and bloodlust of our fights died down , I honestly started looking forward to them … After all , eternity in Heaven gets boring if there's no one to talk to , and these clashes we've been having for the past hundreds of years … Well it's just … Reminded me of the good old days when we were young and carefree … Everything we used to have before I ruined it all with my stupidity …"
Silent tears began flowing down Lancelot's eyes as he finally looked up at his former friend , " So if this is how my story must end , then I cannot ask for a more fitting way to atone for my sins , to die by your hands after all the wrongs I have committed against you … I only hope that my death can quell the fire in your heart , but know this Arthur … "
Lancelot wiped the tears from his eyes , before calmly looking up at his former friend with a look of sincerity ,
" I am … Truly sorry … For all that I have done to you . "
With that , Lancelot closed his eyes , awaiting for Arthur to deliver the blow that would erase him from this plain of existence . Yet … As he lay there on the hard ground , waiting and waiting , the blow never came …
Lancelot opened his eyes confused , above him stood Arthur , his face was cold and expressionless . Yet the hand which held Excalibur above his former friend's throat shook slightly , as the King of Camelot seemed to struggle to deliver that final strike .
" What are you waiting for ? " Lancelot asked incredulously , " Isn't this what you've always wanted ? "
Then to Lancelot's further surprise , Arthur slowly backed away from him , taking Excalibur's point off the knight's neck and gazing at his own reflection on the flat of the sword's blade , contemplating what he had nearly done .
Slowly shaking his head , Arthur turned back at his former friend , the fires of hate and righteous fury that once burnt bright inside now gone , replaced by a small hint of melancholy as he spoke softly ,
" No … It's not … At least not anymore … Killing you … It won't change anything … "
After saying this , Arthur shakily sheathed Excalibur , before turning and walking away , leaving Lancelot incredibly confused . But just before he disappeared from sight , Arthur paused , he and Lancelot completely still for a moment before the King spoke his final words .
" Though I choose to spare you today … That does not mean I've forgiven you for your sins Lancelot … But perhaps one day … I hope … That I can … "
With that , Arthur left the battlefield , leaving Lancelot lying on the ground alone and confused for a long while even though his opponent was already gone .
( Present Day )
" I-I don't get it ! " Nezha spluttered , " You had him at your mercy ! You could have ended it right there and then and made him pay ! S-so … Why did you spare him ? "
" Even after my story you still do not understand , Third Lotus Prince ? " Arthur replied in a disappointed tone , " I forgave Lancelot for a simple reason , that reason being that I no longer wished to plague myself with such pointless negativity . I have resided here in Heaven for so many years , yet I chose to waste the first few centuries I had living in paradise , engaging in pointless violence over a matter that could not be changed no matter how much blood was spilled . Was that what I truly wanted ? "
" I too understand how hard it is to find it in yourself to forgive , and that the journey to do so can be long and uncertain . I mean it took centuries just for me to do that myself ! But if I had continued to curse Lancelot's memory as you did Ao Bing for so long , what good would it do ? I do not deny , to feel anger after what has happened to you , it is natural , good even ! But it too is never a good idea to suppress that anger and keep it bottled up , for if you do not let that rage out to subside , if you choose to let the flames continue to fester and burn , the only person who will suffer in the end is yourself . So tell me Third Lotus Prince … "
Arthur swung Excalibur around and held his arm straight , pointing the sword point towards a stunned Nezha . A blue aura seemed to shine around the King of Camelot as his face brimmed with determination and resolve ,
" In a battle where a god like yourself can die , if this truly be the battle where you might lose your life. Are mistrust and resentment really the emotions you wish to burn out on ? Is surrounding yourself with shallow meaningless relationships truly the key to ending your torment ? Or do you wish for something better ? That is my final say to you , Nezha , and I truly hope you can reach the answer that will satisfy you once and for all , before it is far too late . "
Well this took way longer than it should have...

2024.06.01 16:08 LiberVix Summer Collection Release Today

Hi all,
Just wanted to give you a heads up that I have a Limited Summer Collection release today, which includes my Wild Collection and some returning summer scents (and one new GC!). I am only able to do a limited amount of these (except the new GC) so when they sell out , that will be it! The Language of Flowers Collection, however, I will continue to restock indefinitely.
WILLOW WAXCRAFT SHOP
Here is the lineup!
AULD LANG SYNE Reminders of days gone by: strawberry jam filled breakfast pastries, wooden game tiles, pecan pie, and fields of dangerously sweet purple flowers.
ANIMAL ARMY A technicolor blend of ripe passion fruit pulp, pineapple juice, mango, coconut milk, sea salt and sour gummy candy with a faint whiff of ozone.
BIRDIE'S HOUSE Mama smelled like peaches. Bergamot, a steaming cup of green tea, peach nectar and osmanthus, grounded with secrets hidden in a warm, dusty attic.
THE LAST MEN They’re already extinct. They just don’t want to admit it. Burning embers, charred resins, smoked lavender, sage, gunpowder, and birch leaf.
OUT OF THE DEEP WOODS Take the first step into a new world, with new friends to guide the way: prickly pear, Calypso orchid, juniper berry, fresh cucumber, warm earth, evergreens.
A VERY SPECIAL BOY Part deer. Part boy. All hope. His story begins with warm maple wood and leaves, a worn flannel shirt, caramel apples, and maple syrup, on a soft bed of ambrette seed musk.
YOU ARE WELCOME HERE A safe haven from the crumbling world outside: Lush greenery, golden mimosa, lime blossom, petitgrain, tomato leaf, and carrot seed.
RAINBOW SPRINKLES In the backyard, leaping through the sprinkler, watching rainbows shimmer through the cold sweetwater. Wild strawberries, green apple, and pear blossom grounded by wet grass, moss, and clover with a comforting whisper of line dried linens.
WATERFALL HIKE A cool forest walk to a hidden woodland waterfall- crushed fir needle, cedar, flowing water, with the dark berry and green leaf shading of Siberian Rhododendron.
WAVE POOL ‘92 Let go and let the waves carry you to the deep end of the perfect, carefree summer day- pool water, salty skin and sunscreen, soft baked pretzels, cotton candy, and waffle cones piled high with vanilla soft serve.
CITY BLOCK PARTY Step outside, meet the neighbors. Cola on the front steps, gas exhaust and motor oil, green peeking through sidewalk cracks, and the ozonic rumble of an approaching rainstorm.
TROUBLE IN PARADISE (ORIGINALLY FALLOWEEN, SWITCHING TO SUMMER!) You have the map to the hidden rainforest ruins, where X marks the location of a rare, sparkling emerald. But shady jewel thieves are hot on your trail! Who will find the treasure first? A sudden tropical rainstorm, frozen pineapple, Ginger Co2, bergamot, bittersweet tamarind, and glowing green musk.
BEYOND THE INVISIBLE (NEW GENERAL CATALOG) Golden sandalwood, benzoin resin, oud, rose, soft patchouli musk, and a delicate, misty veil of rain.
I also have a new Volume in The Library of Scent! This Volume can be found in the 478 nonfiction section of the library on June 1st, under the subject heading:
LATIN patchouli, rosemary, basil, dried fruit, pomegranate, olive, cinnamon, incense, rose
I took Latin for 3 years in high school (can't remember much except licetne mihi ire ad latrinam si placet :) This scent is inspired by materials that ancient Romans may have used for perfume (per fumum= through smoke). Starting June 1st through June 30th, use code LATIN for $4.50 off your purchase of $40.00+

2024.06.01 15:05 WhovianTrekkie_6366 My Star Trek Ranking Part 2: 900-876

Hello; really loved the interaction with my first post, so thanks so much for that! I'll just reiterate: spoilers for all Star Trek, and everything is just my opinion.
900) Unnatural Selection (1989)
TNG 2x7
Writer: John Mason & Mike Gray
Director: Paul Lynch
We've seen this idea done before and better. Yeah, it's a little bit different this time: it centres around children genetically engineered to be free of disease (isn't that illegal in the Federation?). But the actual plot of the episode is little different from TOS' The Deadly Years, with Doctor Pulaski aging and trying to find a cure for the condition. An uninspired repeat of a TOS episode that wasn't even that good in the first place.
899) We'll Always Have Paris (1988)
TNG 1x23
Writer: Deborah Dean Davis & Hannah Louise Shearer
Director: Robert Becker
Bored me stiff. I'm not always a huge fan of time travel stuff in general, and this is one of the least dynamic uses of that story type I've ever seen. Picard also has some weak character development, in his reminiscence about the girlfriend he left behind to join Starfleet, after he runs into her in this episode. The resolution with Data is fine, though, and I do like that they used him, as somebody less affected by the Maddox Effect, to solve the problem. Functional, just really dull.
898) Angel One (1988)
TNG 1x13
Writer: Patrick Barry
Director: Michael Rhodes
I will say that, as a teenage boy and as a young man now, this episode did give me empathy for what women go through in real life: being dismissed as weak and soft and barred from meaningful work. Beyond that, however, this episode really says nothing. It feels like it wants to be a deep and compelling exploration of gender roles, but apart from that feeling of empathy it gave me it doesn't accomplish anything of the kind. It's just a rote story about an oppressed section of society trying to combat their oppressors, and Riker saves the dissidents from being executed with a dull speech.
897) Silicon Avatar (1991)
TNG 5x4
Writer: Jeri Taylor, story by Lawrence V Conley
Director: Cliff Bole
Oh, just what I always wanted: the return of the Crystalline Entity from Datalore! Most anticipated villain return ever! But seriously, this could have been an interesting episode exploring a decent creature, but all that ends up happening is the Enterprise chasing the Crystalline Entity while Data has conversations with the mother of one of the victims of its attack on his colony. I will say that her hatred of Data got some genuine emotion out of me, as I raise my hackles against anyone who dares attack that loveable android, and seeing her come round to him was reasonably satisfying. But I still wasn't intrigued by their conversations, or the story of her seeking revenge for her son's death. The actual murder of the Crystalline Entity was done with a decent weight, but the episode takes forever to get there, through a slog of boring conversations and virtually no emotional investment for me.
896) The Outrageous Okona (1988)
TNG 2x4
Writer: Burton Armus, story by Les Menchen, Lance Dickson & David Landsberg
Director: Robert Becker
An aimless, artless story of a rogue caught between two fathers hounding him for his misdeeds. I don't find Okona amusing or charming, so his heavy presence in the episode doesn't do anything for me, and the story surrounding him is weak too. Data's stand-up comedy stuff is quite funny; Brent Spiner plays it brilliantly. I particularly enjoy the scene where he's trying out his act on Guinan, and it's just so bad. Also love Whoopi Goldberg's delivery of 'No' after Data asks her if his act was good. But this B-plot has only a flimsy connection to the main story, and therefore its presence leaves the end product feeling messy as well as weak.
895) Bounty (2003)
ENT 2x25
Writer: Hans Tobeason, Mike Sussman & Phyllis Strong, story by Rick Berman & Brannon Braga
Director: Roxann Dawson
An A-plot and B-plot that are both very bad. The story of Archer getting kidnapped by a bounty hunter is rote and uninspired, and definitely feels like it was one of the last ideas the writers came up with for the season. They were just filling time with a poor sequel to the earlier episode Judgement. His interactions with the Tellarite do not interest me at all, and I do not care about the Tellarite's lost ship. The B-plot with T'Pol prematurely going through the Pon Farr sees some of the worst sexualisation of the character, plus some cringey dialogue between her and Phlox. Archer's ending escape from the Klingons, with the Tellarite's secret help, is solid, though.
894) The Omega Glory (1968)
TOS 2x23
Writer: Gene Roddenberry
Director: Vincent McEveety
Goes from mundane to insane. For much of its runtime I would give this my label of dull but functional: there's a rogue Starfleet Captain trying to discover the secret to eternal youth on a pre-warp planet, and there's a lot of fighting with some of the savage natives. It's all very boring... until the last quarter.
It gets revealed that this is (yet another) TOS Season 2 Earth parallel, with the savages representing the US and the village people the Communists. There is no explanation given for how the aliens ended up with all the exact paraphernalia of that time on Earth, from the US flag to the American Constitution; it's all just ludicrous.
The crowning weirdness of the episode is Kirk's lauding of the American Constitution as the greatest thing ever invented. Now, I don't just not like this because I'm English; I would feel the same if the British (unwritten) Constitution was being lauded like this. I consider myself a pretty patriotic person, and I believe that every country has equal reason to celebrate themselves, but I feel it is utterly inappropriate in Star Trek for any one country or group to be held up as the ultimate shining example of civilisation. This is because Trek is meant to represent a future where everybody's come together under one banner. There's a lot to praise about the American Constitution, but it's inappropriate for it to be held up as the 'One True Way', if you will. Kirk's final admiring look at the US flag is so cringeworthily saccharine. So, yeah, this episode is boring for most of its runtime, and it certainly isn't in the end... it's much worse.
893) The Muse (1996)
DS9 4x21
Writer: Rene Echevarria, story by Rene Echevarria & Majel Barrett-Roddenberry
Director: David Livingston
The DS9 Lwaxana Troi episodes are largely not a good time, and this is the absolute worst of them. The story of her pregnancy feels so hammy and forced, and the drama with her and Odo doesn't interest me at all. She also doesn't feel like she has much of a presence in the episode, which is shocking given how she came on so wonderfully strong in TNG. The other plotline with Jake is also uninteresting. It's at least not as bad as the Lwaxana storyline, but it's still so very uninspired (you see what I did there?). Annoyingly our last Lwaxana appearance; they really should have stopped her episodes after TNG's Dark Page; that was the perfect ending for her character.
892) When the Bough Breaks (1988)
TNG 1x16
Writer: Hannah Louise Shearer
Director: Kim Manners
Gene Roddenberry did like his kiddie episodes, didn't he? The idea of 'Atlantis-but-a-planet' is interesting, but the episode wastes the concept on a tiresome kidnapping story. The kids are fine I guess, but I'd also rather not be watching them. Wesley feels kinda out-of-place among them, to be honest, considering how noticeably older he is. I will say that Picard's reaction to the abduction: 'You have just committed an act of utter barbarity!' is a superb bit of acting from Stewart, but other than that there's nothing else I'll praise about this outing.
891) Pen Pals (1989)
TNG 2x15
Writer: Melinda M Snodgrass, story by Hannah Louise Shearer
Director: Winrich Kolbe
This always feels like a short to me, despite its forty-five minute length. No time is spent building up Data and the alien kid's relationship; we just see the kid's first communication, then jump into Data confessing to Picard he's been in contact with a pre-warp individual. So I have no investment in this relationship, which is a shame because Data-plus-kid had the potential to be really sweet. They just didn't put the legwork into it. The resolution is fine.
890) Unforgettable (1998)
VOY 4x22
Writer: Greg Elliot & Michael Perricone
Director: Andrew Robinson
Got to be the most ironic title in Trek history, since this episode is extremely forgettable. It's also mind-numbingly boring: Trek does not have a good track record with single-episode romances, and this has got to be one of the worst. I feel zero connection to the guest character and zero investment in her relationship with Chakotay. The idea of a species that you forget after they've been gone for a while is intriguing, but it is wasted on this insipid romance. This was one of the longest forty-five minutes I've ever sat through.
889) Transfigurations (1990)
TNG 3x25
Writer: Rene Echevarria
Director: Tom Benko
Speaking of dull one-episode romances, here's another one. The idea of a species going through a butterfly-like transformation, that is feared and suppressed by the authorities, is again intriguing. It reminds me of the Jon Pertwee Doctor Who story The Mutants, if anyone's watched that, except it's done less well. Again, the good concept is wasted on a boring romance, this time between Beverly and her patient. This is another one that feels much longer than forty-five minutes.
888) Bread and Circuses (1968)
TOS 2x25
Writer: Gene Roddenberry & Gene L Coon
Director: Ralph Senensky
At this point in TOS Season 2, I just thought: 'Really, Mr Roddenberry? Another Earth parallel? I know you like them, but this is getting ridiculous!' Not only is this a tired repeat of an already done idea, but no explanation is given for why this planet parallels the Roman Empire. In A Piece of the Action and Patterns of Force clever reasons were given, but in this it's just presented as a weird fact. That doesn't fly with me.
And even if they had come up with another clever explanation, they have done this idea, which I don't like very much anyway, way too many times this season. I did have some minor interest in the concept of a Rome that never fell, but not enough to sustain me for fifty minutes. Boring and uninspired to the highest degree. I will say there's one really great scene between Spock and Bones in a prison cell, though, when Bones confronts Spock about how he keeps all his emotions carefully concealed.
887) How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth (1974)
TAS 2x5
Writer: Russell Bates & David Wise
Director: Bill Reed
Similar to Who Mourns for Adonais?, in that it gives us an omnipotent alien, who was once worshipped as a God on Earth, and has returned to take charge of his wayward children, only to ultimately discover they don't need him anymore. This is a much weaker version of that story, however, with a less sympathetic godlike character and less runtime to flesh out the idea.
The episode also takes a weird swerve halfway through, from the setting of Kukulkan's city (a nice location, I must say) to his zoo, which I find much less appealing. This episode had an idea, but it wasn't quite sure how to tell the story. Kukulkan genuinely scared me a little, though, and I did feel sorry for him when he flew off, knowing that his former worshippers had outgrown him. But again, that was done better in TOS.
886) Resurrection (1997)
DS9 6x8
Writer: Michael Taylor
Director: LeVar Burton
Michael Taylor is a curious writer for me. He has written both some of my favourite and some of my least favourite episodes, with little middle ground. This falls hard into the latter category. It's interesting to have someone from the Mirror Universe cross into the Prime Universe, rather than the other way around as normally happens, and it's doubly interesting to have that someone be Mirror Bareil. But the episode falls flat on its face: every scene is just so interminably dull, and, unlike his Prime Universe counterpart, this Bareil has no chemistry with Kira. So boring, so pedestrian, and the absolute worst of the DS9 Mirror Universe episodes.
885) The Paradise Syndrome (1968)
TOS 3x3
Writer: Margaret Armen
Director: Jud Taylor
I think this is the epitome of functional but dull. The story makes sense, the characters' motivations make sense, but that doesn't mean the episode is interesting. I do like the idea of the Preservers, beings who transplanted members of endangered peoples, here the Native Americans, to other planets, but the episode flops. Kirk's memory loss leads to a yawnworthy stay among the Native Americans, filled with predictable tensions and conflicts, and a bland romance. The Spock and Bones B-plot is also boring. I feel a little something for Miramanee's death, but only a little something.
884) Assignment: Earth (1968)
TOS 2x26
Writer: Art Wallace, story by Gene Roddenberry & Art Wallace
Director: Marc Daniels
Star Trek without the Star Trek. Deciding not to focus on the main characters for an episode isn't a bad idea in and of itself, but the characters put in their stead hold little interest for me. The same is true of the plot they work within. This was of course a backdoor pilot for a spin-off that never manifested, and maybe if it had come about I would like this episode much more, but as it stands I find the characters unintriguing and the plot uninspired. The climax is particularly poor, with about seventy different shots of the rocket going into orbit, while the characters mill about and do very little. I want me my Kirk, Spock and Bones back.
883) The Red Angel (2019)
DSC 2x10
Writer: Chris Silvestri & Anthony Maranville
Director: Hanelle M Culpepper
Down here for the same reasons as previous DSC Season 2 episodes I've put on this list. It engages heavily in the twin foul-ups of the Spock's sister storyline and the Section 31 portrayal. I hate the base concept of Burnham being Spock's sister, for reasons I've explained in my previous post, so I despise all their scenes together, that build out this relationship that I wish had never been. And Section 31 continues to be portrayed as a public wing of the Federation, with ships and resources provided by Starfleet, which is godawful.
I will say, however, that I do kinda like the sequence where Burnham has to strap herself to a chair and bare herself to the planet's toxic atmosphere in order to summon the Red Angel. And the reveal that the Angel is not herself but in fact her mother is cool. But this is still a really bad episode.
882) The Storyteller (1993)
DS9 1x13
Writer: Kurt Michael Bensmiller & Ira Steven Behr, story by Kurt Michael Bensmiller
Director: David Livingston
A really messy, weak outing. The A- and B-plots have nothing to do with each other, which isn't automatically bad, but here it just makes the episode feel untidy. Of the two, I prefer the Jake and Nog subplot; it's funny seeing them mooning over the female teenage leader of a settlement who comes to the station. Their getting in trouble to impress her is charming. The A-plot sucks, though: the whole business of O'Brien having to become the protector of this village, from an amorphous cloud villain, is just lame, and the resolution is whatever. It is funny to see O'Brien and Julian in their first episode together, though, and witnessing how much O'Brien doesn't care for the good Doctor at this point. Oh, how times will change.
881) The Arsenal of Freedom (1988)
TNG 1x20
Writer: Richard Manning & Hans Beimler, story by Maurice Hurley & Robert Lewin
Director: Les Landau
A ramshackle adventure with a medley of different storylines, all of which are underwhelming. The best is Geordi's plotline, where he asserts himself as commander of the Enterprise over the *rsehole Chief Engineer of the week, but the other two don't really have any redeeming qualities. The Riker and co storyline is repetitive and the Picard and Beverly storyline is dull. I do like that the threat is resolved when Picard agrees to make a purchase from this dead civilisation, though.
880) Move Along Home (1993)
DS9 1x9
Writer: Frederick Rappaport, Lisa Rich & Jeanne Carrigan-Fauci, story by Michael Piller
Director: David Carson
OK, so I said this wasn't the worst of DS9, but it's still really bad. Though I have to say that, after I watched this with my siblings last year, and had such fun doing so, I've never been able to see it quite so badly. It's bad, yeah, but it's so, so much fun. The best-worst bit is of course the alien hopscotch scene, and I also really have to give credit to Alexander Siddig for playing some brilliant cringey comedy with Julian. The scene where he's trying to wake himself up from a nightmare by screaming? So funny. These (sort of) praises made, this is still a stinker of an episode, with a messy plot, too-silly events, and some serious overacting from Armin Shimerman at the end. Definitely something best watched with friends or family.
Allamaraine, count to four,
Allamaraine, then three more,
Allamaraine, if you can see,
Allamaraine, you'll come with me!
879) Justice (1987)
TNG 1x7
Writer: Worley Thorne, story by Ralph Wills & Worley Thorne
Director: James L Conway
I love the basic idea of this episode: Wesley runs afoul of a law on another planet and is sentenced to death by their draconian justice system. Then Picard has to struggle with whether to obey the Prime Directive or save his life. But the episode is dragged down by some weird costuming choices and, most of all, the addition of an omnipotent entity that watches over the planet's people. This should have just been an episode about Picard struggling between duty and conscience; the addition of a mega-powerful being steals screentime from this fine idea.
878) A Simple Investigation (1997)
DS9 5x17
Writer: Rene Echevarria
Director: John T Kretchmer
Uuuuugh; another boring single-episode romance. It's an interminable chore to sit through, from beginning to end, with tired, uninspired romantic scenes and an unexciting criminalistic plot surrounding the Orion Syndicate. I also don't like how the Changelings' linking is equated with sex in that one scene. There are a few fun scenes with O'Brien, Julian and Jadzia when they're playing the spy holosuite program (Jadzia's 'Ooh, somebody stop me!', or O'Brien's 'Hi, Odo!'), but that's about it.
877) Such Sweet Sorrow Part Two (2019)
DSC 2x14
Writer: Michelle Paradise, Junny Lumet, & Alex Kurtzman
Director: Olatunde Osunsanmi
DSC wasn't merely content to introduce a sister for Spock who weakened the story of his childhood and family life. They had to make that sister so important in his life that he'd be willing to go with her into the future and leave his life behind. I hate that Kurtzman and co made this decision, as it makes everything in TOS, SNW etc feel like Spock settling for second-best, when in reality he is fulfilling his life's purpose in those series.
I also never connected with any of the DSC original characters, except for Saru, and even with him I don't feel any emotion at their grand final 23rd Century adventure to stop Control. As I've said before, this evil sentient AI story is a tired, repeated idea, and its connection to the terrible portrayal of Section 31 makes it worse. As a result of all this don't give a single crap about any of the grand-scale action in this episode, and I feel nothing for the loss of the Discovery crew to the far future. I will say that this episode did at least propel DSC into the 32nd Century, which would end up saving the series from being irredeemably awful, and it sets up the phenomenal SNW (although we didn't strictly need all this for SNW to work).
876) Vis a Vis (1998)
VOY 4x20
Writer: Robert Doherty
Director: Jesus Salvador Trevino
A vapid story about Tom feeling dissatisfied with his life on Voyager, and getting replaced by a shape-stealing alien. The concept for the alien is solid, but the execution doesn't fly. It ends up being a limp episode that drags quite a bit, with a bland character arc for Tom at its centre. Shoutout for the appearance of Dan Butler as the alien's main form, though; he played the testosterone-fuelled Bulldog Briscoe in my favourite comedy, Frasier.
That's it for now. Thank you very much for reading, and Live Long and Prosper!

2024.06.01 08:36 Latter-Ad-1523 i am a dude who has been talking to this girl for about two years, tonight was a turning point thanks to her drunken call.

we have been slowly working our way to becoming closer. tonight we were texting and she decides to call me to explain a curious situation to me.
via sms: on monday she plans on meeting one of her "baby father's" ex's. i asked why in the world would you want to do that and boom the phone rings and she starts talking about all these dumb ass bs reasons, she wants her kid to meet the other kids etc etc.
her drunken blabbing went on for a while and i started drifting into thinking:
how in the fuck? she seems to be friends with her ex boy friend's exs' and they are all kinda like this weird harem of women. they seem to act like friends but hate each other and want to keep tabs on each other. they all also seem to use their kids as some sort of tool to stay in this harem. i was very very disappointed in this behavior. i totally lost a lot of respect of her for this, but i sat and listened anyways. i felt like i was observing what it must have been like to be a women in a tribe in africa, all competing for the males attention, it was the strangest thing, or even a male dog and a pack of female dogs or something.
while on the phone she kept mentioning she was drunk as fuck and then of course she thought it was wise of her to bring up politics, which is where i should have drawn the line. we have never talked politics btw. i am going to try to be vague here so she/i wont get attacked for our beliefs.
anyways i try say a few vague political things that she couldnt attack and she says ok, change of subject then mentions how i should look into this football players speech and how he said women should be at home in the kitchen raising kids and how this pisses her off to no end.
i said, i have no idea what you are talking about, i dont follow sports or college kid speeches, she then went on to say i better not agree with that idiot or we are done and we will never speak again and rattled on about womens rights etc etc for a few minutes about how bad men are to women and we need to respect them more etc etc and this went on for a while.
i sat on the phone quietly and thought: you are picking a fight with me because i am a man, and i dont even know what you are talking about, i felt like she was starting to disrespect me and wasting my time to be honest but i just listened to her ramblings, i also thought, hey you are a stay at home mom, who pays your bills? you are also part of a group of women who all had kids with one dude. he is a looser, he is in and out of jail constantly and you are attacking me? but i said nothing.
over the past 1.5 years or so she has said many times i am the closest thing to a normal adult man she has had the chance to interact with and this is what she does with her time with me?
how in the world can her and four other women all take turns sharing time and space with one looser dude and then she preach to me about men trying to keep women down???? and then on top of it tell me if i disagree with her, then we are done. wtf? this one hit hard. this was the moment that i decided we are done, but i wanted to quietly exit the building without her noticing.
if this is what is considered ghetto life no wonder its a retarded mess. i suspect this is one of those times that if i was ghetto like she apparently is, i would slap her across the face and force her to have another child with me, but instead i am done talking to her and she may not even wonder why a man who woudlnt abuse her wont stick around.
i have been dealing with some health issues but do not try to bring her into it, but i am on a journey of recovery and getting out and enjoying life again, and thought i might bring her along with all my walks and bike riding adventures etc etc.
i knew she was in a bad place mentally but thought i could be a source of good energy for her and i always let her control the pace of our social engagement and activities and here all she needed was a felon to abuse and mistreat her i guess, while she complains about womens rights to me as if i am the problem.
then she abruptly gets off the phone due to her 10 year old kid who walks all over her, was up at 2am and she needed to get him a snack.
i already know. she is a clown, and i am a clown for even wasting my time and typing this out. she is low class, apparently low iq and full of drama and its time i move on. i feel like i lost some class even interacting with her this long. this wound is fresh, its late and i cant talk to my friends and i am a little embarrassed of the whole thing and needed to vent and will likely say meh to it all tomorrow.

2024.06.01 06:55 ghostgabe81 Respect the MonsterVerse Titans (Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong)

The Titans are ancient "superspecies" that inhabited the Earth of the MonsterVerse long before humanity, only to be awoken in the modern day. These creatures are thought to be the inspiration for many stories and myths.
When a teleportation mishap sends the Legion of Doom to the MonsterVerse, the Toyman is enamored with the Titans. Using the mystic Dreamstone, he transports his new "toys" to the DC Universe to wreck havoc.
Sources: Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong. Feats are marked with the issue number
Notes:
  1. The author has stated that while the Titans are based on the MonsterVerse movies and comics, the story is an Elseworld on both the DC and MonsterVerse sides. That being said, I'll still link to Threads of the mainline versions of the Titans as a reference point.
  2. The author has stated that while he didn't write this version of Superman as explicitly weaker than his mainline counterpart, he also doesn't write with battleboarding or powerscaling in mind. Rather he chose to depict the "alphas" of each universe (Godzilla and Superman) at similar levels of strength and scale each character down from there.
  3. Both the DC Universe and MonsterVerse have kaiju called The Kraken. In this thread only the DC one is referenced

Infinity Blood: Hunt for the Divine Book One:
This is a horro adventure series I’ve been working on for over a year! Thought I’d post some of it on here! Would love some feedback!
Existence began with a flash of light that pierced the black vastness of space, bringing forth a billion stars. And the world as we know it came to be––suspended, breathing, becoming life. Magnificent oceans, brilliant blue skies patchy with sheets of white vapor, animals from the humble mouse to the prideful lion arose, as did all forms of flora that sprouted up from beneath the dirt and soul, spreading across the lands culminating in lush jungles and forests, providing refuge to the fauna from the ever-changing elements.
On the seventh day, Man came, and with man came the original sin. As Eve plucked the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and Adam partook, they were cast out from paradise, condemned to fend for themselves in an imperfect world filled with struggle and hardships––a reality to which man grew all too accustomed.
No longer in paradise, existence no longer felt like a blessing but a vile curse. Scornful towards his Almighty Creator, Adam's hatred brought forth the embodiment of malice––creatures with an insatiable thirst for vengeance against the God who seemed to have forsaken them. This rage was passed on to his two sons, Cain and Abel, who themselves committed the second sin and unleashed the Maligus onto the world.
From then on, man's soul was thrust into a ceaseless war between good and evil; Proelium in Principio Esse had begun. Only the Angelix, warriors of the holiest order, wielded enough power to challenge the growing threat of the demon Maligus. Armed with the gifted, Divine Items––the Saber of Sovereignty, the Dagger of Divinity, and the Armament of Authority––the grand battle seemed all but won. But as civilization grew, so did the sins of man, and soon, the scales between good and evil became unbalanced.
The chosen Angelix relinquished paradise and descended to Earth to continue their duty of bringing balance to mankind, to finally rid the world of the foul demons. And so, they remained on earth, living as humans, learning to love the ever-fleeting imperfection that was humanity. Passing on the lessons of the Riteful Fite to their descendants, calling themselves Pharus Spei, as so they fought on, awaiting Proelio Finem Temporis––the final confrontation between the forces of light and dark.
The end will be ushered in by the union of three prophesied warriors, each of whom will once again wield the Divine Items hidden for millennia throughout the long stretches of time. They shall bring an end to this war and, at long last, bring forth an everlasting peace for mankind.
They will be the Infinitrinity.
Ephesians 5:16
And Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
He was being hunted. No sooner had the sun retreated behind the city skyline did the creatures come pouring out from within the shadows and trailing after the young boy from the rooftops. The boy cut through alleyways and a vacant lot in a panic frenzy, lungs burning and bare feet aching, he felt their desperate hunger careening down at his back. Young as he was his primal instincts for survival and adrenaline kept him pushing forward, trying every effort he could to lose the creatures leaping overhead. He knew they wanted nothing more than for him to take a wrong turn leading to dead end or to trip or loose his balance. These mistakes would be all they needed to guarantee an easy meal.
They were quick. Catching a glimpse of them leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Their bodies were thin and long. Barely making any sound as they landed onto the rooftops. The dark hid their viler details. But he's seen them before. They image of their hideous features haunted his dream most every night. Their jagged teeth protruding from their enormous mouths. Their scale covered limbs. Bit it was their eyes which clung most vividly to the forefront of his mind. Those wide, scarlet eyes. They were so full of equal parts malice and insatiable hunger. They only existed to feed and cause misery. And he had unfortunately borne witness to both these things.
He took a hastened turn down the wrong alley. This was the mistake they had preyed upon. He found it led to a brick wall. Far too tall for him to climb over. It was a dead end. He turned on his heels, eyes swollen with tears he prepared to face his fate head on. A boy only twelve years of age; living impoverished and without a home. Scrounging for food in dumpsters and taking shelter wherever he was able was now being forced to face his mortality. His mouth had run dry. His small chest heaved as he struggled to catch his breath.
I don't wanna die. God. I don't wanna
The heard of demons huddled around the child. Salivating. Their long, serrated teeth readied for the taste of the boy's tender flesh.
A figure appearing to materialize in the moonlight stood in between the feral beast and the frightened boy. Draped in a long coat and wearing a wide brimmed hat. The boy noticed the demon's demeanors suddenly altered as they began to place distance between them and the mysterious man. No sooner did he appear did he make charge the fiendish things, a long sword in hand. Within what seemed seconds the demons were torn a sunder, leaving nothing behind by cloud of ash.
The man turned to the boy. He was an older looking fellow. A long grayish whirl beard falling from his chin and a long silver mane pouring out from beneath his hat.
"What's your name boy?" The man asked. His voice was calming.
The boy spoke.
"Nathaniel, sir. Nathaniel Lumen."
There was a brief pause. The man spoke.
"Where are you parents? You're much too young to be out here alone at this time of night."
"They're dead sir. Those things killed them. A year ago."
The mysterious man took a moment before speaking, surveying the boy from head to toe. On the boys right fore arm there was a familiar looking birthmark. It was blotchy and abnormally pigmented in the shape of an '8'.
"It appears you have a choice to make. You are course free to stay here and live your life as you choose, fighting for survival in this city rampant with those foul creatures. Or you can come with me and never fear again."
The boy looked on at the stranger in the bellowing trench coat. Perplexed. This offer had a weight to it unlike any he'd been given before. Was such a decision truly his to make? A boy of twelve years old given such reign over his destiny expected to make this life altering decision.
The man said nothing further, simply slipping his sword back to its sheath and he began to walk away.
The boy watched as the stranger walk out of the dimly lit alleyway and into the lightened streets. His silhouette statuesque, the shadows seeming to bend around him. Whoever this man was he felt certain wherever he was headed would be a place filled of purpose. There would be light.
The boy followed after.
Chapter 01
The Distant Future, the Year 2307
The Cathedral of Kayn
"The perimeter is secure."
" No heat signatures are showing up on our end."
"Copy that, we're moving in."
The Faction 7 infiltration squad had managed to make it through the mountains bordering the outskirts of the once-great city of Edenlore. After an arduous battle that left their ranks severely diminished, they had finally breached the hard light barrier, an omnipresent protective shell surrounding the cathedral. Exhausted and running low on supplies, they were weak in body but strong in spirit. Their mission was to breach the heart of the cathedral and locate the throne room.
"Hurry down the left corridor; there should be a flight of stairs to the right!" Vector Lux, a young soldier of the Pharus Spei, recited aloud, providing the infiltration squad with the intelligence that had been gathered by the last platoon on their prior mission.
Sargent Lancer nodded. "You two, you're with me. The rest of you men cover our end."
Private Vector Lux obeyed Sargent Lancer's command and followed closely as they made their way up the stairwell. This was the opportunity they had long fought for; all the lives lost, all the bloodshed, all the years he'd spent training—it all led to this moment.
They sprinted up the flight of stairs. Vector glanced to his right, locking eyes with Private Sands. Both had been enlisted into the ranks of the Pharus Spei at the age of thirteen, and both had spent years on the battlefield, bearing witness to the horrors of the ceaseless war, the countless deaths of loved ones, and the all-consuming dread that governed their entire lives.
This mission's success would make all the difference and could very well bring an end to all the suffering. Peace could finally be achieved at long last. All of civilization's fate depended solely on this success.
Hordes of maligus––winged, bloodthirsty beasts––trailed behind them, existing solely to feed on the fear and flesh of men, of which their jagged teeth made short work. They were under his dominion. Hundreds of them stood watch over the cathedral through the night, ever vigilant. Throughout the long hours of the night, they were his enforcers.
Several soldiers had managed to fend off a portion of the maligus, allowing Sargent Lancer and his team to break from the group and toward the objective. However, they were severely outnumbered, and before long, they were overwhelmed by the malevolent beasts. Vector could hear their blood-curdling screams echoing through the stairwell as the Faction 7 soldiers were torn apart in the ensuing battle.
Sargent Lancer led the two soldiers up through the stairwell and into the grand hall, where they were met with a mighty staircase leading towards two large doors.
"Intel says that's the entrance to the throne room." Sargent Lancer activated a device on his wrist that displayed a holographic map of the cathedral's interior.
"What's our next move, Sarge?" Vector asked. Suddenly, Lancer's device emitted an alarming beeping sound.
A deep, unsettling, booming voice filled the hall.
"Impressive, humans, making it this far, and only at the cost of your entire fleet." Lum was its name; a behemoth of a bestial form emerged from behind the banister.
"Was it worth it? The annihilation of all your comrades?" Another demon, female in appearance, with long flowing hair and an alluring presence; its name was Langu.
"Food!" shouted another voice, raspy and excited. Esu appeared, its long and thin body dwarfed by Lum's broad and massive form.
"Let us gift them a quick and painful death as a prize for making it this far," Morto, the final demon, said as it walked forth, unveiling its massive bat-like wings, sneering down at the three intruders.
The Four Hellsmen, the deadliest of his enforcers. Sargent Lancer engaged his mechanical wrist gauntlets, setting them to incineration mode. He looked to his right. His fellow soldier stood there, trembling, trying to keep a brave face. His teeth clenched, his left hand on the hilt of his sword, still sheathed. Fear radiated from him.
He then looked to his right and saw Vector with his sword at the ready, his face stern, unshaken, and full of resolve. He had made his decision.
"Private Lux, when I give the order to move for those doors, we will cover you. Get through those doors and complete this mission. That's an order. Do you understand, soldier?" Sargent Lancer had given his final order, and Vector nodded.
"Now! Move!" Vector ran for the staircase, only to be blocked by the winged demon Morto, who dove downward with a sweeping strike of its claw.
Vector sprung backward narrowly, evading the demon's attack. Grasping his extendable, he then began blocking a barrage of strikes from above, his steel blade clanging against the demon's talons. Like a hungry vulture, the demon attacked relentlessly, swooping up and then backing down with violent vigor.
A storm of bullets pelted the demon's body, causing it to collapse to the ground. Sargent Lancer readjusted his gauntlets and readied himself with another round of ammunition. "Go, that's an order!"
He set off another round of shots; the bullets sprayed both banisters, heaving a cloud of debris into the air. Lum jumped from atop the banister and landed heavily on the marble floor below, fracturing it with its tremendous weight. It heaved its neck back, puffed out its wide-breasted chest, inhaling deeply, and then exhaled a large wall of flames. Vector, using his jet propulsion boots, propelled himself into the air. From above, he watched the flames dissipate, hoping his team had survived the inferno below.
Vector launched himself forward in the direction of the throne room doors. Suddenly, swarms of flies appeared, obscuring his sight. He felt something grab hold of his left ankle and begin to pull him down. He looked down to see a hairy, greasy, and dark leg tugging at him.
Langu cackled, using its tendril-like locks of hair to further ensnare the slayer. A nameless soldier lunged at the demon with an arching slash of his steel blade, severing the wretched, ghastly tendrils and allowing Vector to escape.
"Go Lux, go now while we hold them off! Go!" he shouted, desperately fending off the demon Esu, who had gotten the upper hand. He had managed to pin him to the floor and begun draining him of his life essence. He shrieked in terror until all that was left was a withered, lifeless husk sprawled out on the floor.
In a state of desperate rage, Vector engaged his gauntlets and shot Esu with a pinpoint hit to the head, causing it to explode on impact. Lum leaped into the air, wrapping its massive arms around the slayer, and they came crashing down. Now, Vector was at the mercy of the demon. Staring into its eyes, he could see nothingness, only hatred and malicious intent glowing in those red pits.
"Let hell have you, Pharus Spei," the demon said, raising its head and preparing to unleash a blast of its fiery breath. Suddenly, a gleam of shimmering light tore through its chest, moving upward and splitting it down the middle of its massive torso.
Lancer stood triumphant, his plasma saber in hand. He had sustained noticeable burn wounds to his right arm; even so, he wore a face of gratification as he watched the beast fall to pieces. The three remaining demons gathered around the shredded corpse.
Having faced the Hellsmen numerous times before, Lancer knew it wouldn't be long before the beasts would regenerate and return to fighting form.
He knew he had to do whatever he could to allow Private Lux a chance to reach the throne room. He ignited his plasma blade, flipping a switch on the blade's handle. It began to grow in length, losing its straight shape, resembling that of a loose line of wire, glowing and growing into a whip made of pure light energy.
Then it began. With the flick of his wrist, the plasma whip looped outward and then inward, and suddenly, in a flurry of movements, it had begun to move in every direction, cutting through marble pillars, the banister above, and everything in its path. The demons backed away, doing all they could to avoid its wrath.
"On your feet, Vector!" he commanded, his voice still strong and focused.
Vector rose, regained his focus, and turned toward the two large wooden doors. He ran up the steps, hesitating for an instant at the top. Sargent Lancer called out to him. Turning, Vector met his gaze––a look of reassurance, pride, acceptance, but most of all, hope.
With that, Lancer deactivated the plasma weapon and tossed it to Vector Lux. They exchanged nods.
Vector now knew with all certainty that the fate of the world was in his hands. Yet, for a moment, he found himself unable to move forward. He turned once more for a final lingering glance back at Sargent Lancer, fully aware of the fate that awaited him once he walked through those doors. It was a feeling of hopelessness.
Summoning all his resolve, he pushed through the heavy doors and into his throne room.
The throne room of Kayn.
