2024.06.01 21:14 AdGlittering2163 I need advice/Rant

This is my first Reddit post, so I apologize in advance. I am a 29F who is still living at home with her parents because I am pursuing my master's in nursing (to one day become a Nurse Practitioner) and also living in an HOC area. Further, I am also the only child of first-generation immigrant parents who also has a multitude of chronic illnesses (gastroparesis, chronic pancreatitis & GERD.. to name a few) and multiple abdominal surgeries that nearly killed me at a young age. Those deadly surgeries were a result of being undiagnosed for gastroparesis for the first 14 years of my life. I give all of this context because, throughout most of my life, my parents have always been VERY overly protective and overbearing of me to the point of it being unbearable.
As a result of my medical conditions, my mom became a SAHM while my dad worked in construction 7 days a week to make ends meet. As grateful as I am for all my parents' sacrifices to help me get to where I am today (they have paid for both my undergraduate and master's degrees), it has come at an extreme emotional cost on my end. Throughout most of my childhood, my mom would always say that if I ever decided to act like a spoiled brat (which I never did, and I never threw a tantrum for a toy), she would take me into a bathroom stall at the mall and spank me and that the more I cried while getting spanked, the more she would hit me. I knew better than to try and see if that threat was true because I knew my mom meant business, and she often got a kick out of spanking me when I had done something wrong or just annoyed her. All this is ironic, considering my mom is quite spoiled herself. She often does not like the gifts given, OR you have to tell her to pretend to like your gift before giving it to her. This is despite her claiming that 'gift-giving is her love language.' My mom also refused to get her driver's license when she immigrated because my dad refused to buy her an automatic car (my dad had a stick at the time, which my mom refused to learn to drive). Further, from when I was born until I was 14, I went undiagnosed with gastroparesis, which meant that I did not eat much as a kid thus, was labelled a 'picky eater' by everyone, including my parents. My mom often compared me to a cousin of mine (who is a year younger than me) to try and shame me into eating more. My mom's mean comments did not stop there. Last year, when I was dealing with some TMJD issues and did not want to leave my house because of the terrible vertigo I had, my mom basically took that as an opportunity to say I had no friends and was only hanging out with my boyfriend. (Both my parents also dislike my boyfriend because he is uneducated, and they view him as 'white trash.' However, he makes $60k/year with benefits from working as a supervisor in a casino. He also treats me very well and is extremely loving.) This is true; I distanced myself from my friends then, but that was because of how terribly I was feeling. I know she only commented because I had distanced myself from my parents. She is quite belligerent and likes to make comments that hit below the belt. On her side of the family, many people often say she has her grandmother's personality (which is NOT a compliment, and my mom was ironically raised by her).
Now, onto my dad. Throughout most of my life, my dad has always positioned himself as a safe haven from my mom because even my dad knows how hard it is to deal with my mom. He often says that you need a mind of steel to deal with my mom- which is true. As the years have gone by, my dad has begun to lose more and more of his patience from dealing with my mom and her belligerent and unapologetic ways. This has caused him to blow up at my mom and I (sometimes) in pure rage. This has resulted in him swearing at my mom (like telling her to STFU) and hitting her (twice that I know of so far- this is not me excusing his behavior because there is no excuse for hitting your spouse). One example of my dad blowing up on me was during Easter 2021. I received some pictures on Easter Saturday from our legal representative from back home in the motherland (Spain) of my parents' house, which was getting renovated. After spending time at my boyfriend's, I communicated this to my parents that evening and told them I would show them the pictures on Easter Sunday (the next day). My dad got really mad and began demanding I show him the pictures. On the other hand, my mom took my side (but only for self-serving reasons because she is quite jealous and does not like being the person who finds out about things last) and agreed that I should just show them the pictures the next day. My dad became even angrier after my mom said this and told me that he did not want to see the pictures anymore, and if he did see them, he would break my electronics (laptop and/or phone). The next day, on Easter Sunday, I got a long lecture from him while my mom was at Mass about how I always should do as I am told and when he told me to do something, I should do it, no questions asked. To diffuse the situation, I offered to show him the renovation pictures, which he accepted only because the whole time he saw the pictures, he just kept saying, 'It looks the same as the last update.' Also, for anyone wondering why I am dealing with the Spanish legal representative and not my parents (despite both my parents being born in Spain and knowing Spanish), it's because my dad REFUSES to use either his work email or create a Gmail account on his work phone or tablet. After all, he fears being tracked by his company. Meanwhile, my mom just claims technological ignorance, thus leaving me to do the emailing.
In addition to my parents' emotional outbursts, they have also been adamant about being as overprotective as possible, which has genuinely stunted my independence. An example of this was during my undergraduate degree when I went to study B2-level Spanish in Madrid for the semester (I was 20 years old at the time). Despite my family being from Galicia and having gone back a ton throughout the years for vacation, I had never been to Madrid. However, my parents took this as an opportunity for a family vacation and forced me to leave residence and live with them in an apartment they rented for the semester. At one point, they even tried to insist that I should let them drive me to school because "I did not know the area," and they wanted me to be "safe." We eventually settled on a "compromise" where my dad would walk me to the subway/metro station in the morning before school. Even though where I live, I always take public transportation, and there are no issues. Another example of this is for an upcoming conference related to one of my jobs (I work two jobs while in graduate studies), which is overseas. My parents are in a frenzy because I will be going alone for a week. And they have been freaking out about me being on my own for the week even though I feel more than ready.
From their overbearing nature to their emotional outbursts, I have, over time, grown to resent them. Once again, I am grateful for all they have done for me, such as paying for my studies, setting me up with a Roth IRA & savings, providing food & shelter, helping take care of my medical expenses, etc. Although the emotional toll is becoming far too much. So much so that I have begun being extremely mouthy towards my parents and my dad has been the most sensitive to it. One example was in 2020 when I flippantly told my parents, "You guys suck for not telling me my uncle's cat had died" (I was really close with that cat, and I was moreso mad that they had not told me because my parents see me as quite sensitive and "didn't want to hurt my feelings"). This caused my dad to give me the silent treatment for three days and then break down crying and saying how me saying something like that made him fear that I wouldn't take care of him in his old age. I did end up apologizing for what I had said. The second example was a week ago when I explained to my mom that because of the time difference between me and some stakeholders from that conference I am going to, I would need to take a meeting early in the morning before being able to help her. My dad then starts freaking out about the time change for whatever reason, and I say, "Alright, I am just going to start talking in overseas times before my dad starts barking up a storm." Once again, I hurt my dad's feelings and immediately apologized. But this time, I can tell what I said cut deep, and he continues to give me the silent treatment.
I know what I said was wrong on both occasions. What should I do going forward? For anyone wondering why I still live at home, it's to try and save money to move out, but paying with my mental health eventually doesn't seem to be going well.

2024.06.01 19:55 Firm_Sugar9417 do any of yall use the casino?

i’ve been in the casino a hand full of times and actually got 3 stardrops in one spin—how common is that? i cheered and took a picture LOL.
besides the fun of gambling and purchasing a rarecrow and interior items, what use does the casino have? i already purchased the rarecrow, and none of the other items is of interest to me. i wish we could convert the qi tokens to gold, and i thought getting three stardrops in a spin would unlock an achievement. alas, nothing!!!
i’d use the casino more if there were other incentives. maybe i don’t know of them? what are y’all’s thoughts?

2024.06.01 05:09 r0oarimali0n Most people are having a very bad time on this awesome cruise I'm on

Smells like a sewer, hallways flooding, pictures below
Okay. I'm on the vision. Me and fiance cruise a lot. This one we are with my parents via a casino comp. So my parents tell me they are complaining about the room. It's noisy. I figure they are overreacting. I go to the room. It's like a freight train. It's not normal. I've stayed on the same floor on this same ship before. Whatever, they get a different spot to sleep. Then some other people's room started flooding, then the hallways down there flooded. Deck 5 smells like a sewer.
The dining room is a shit show. My meal would have arrived before my drink or bread.
So talking to some employees. I'm realizing everyone is on their first contract with the boat.
Now, me and the fiance. Having a great time, top floor, no issues, great steward. We went to art action, and she won some tanzanite earrings that match her ring. Then we won tickets for cococays water park. And the trips been paid for months ago so we are going to have a great time at our destinations.
I felt bad because when I saw the videos from the people who were screaming at guest services, I found out this is their first cruise. I've met like 9 people whose rooms were flooded with sewage water. I guess the water went out for us, too, but it came right back.
What would you want for compensation if you were in their shoes?
I figure they need to get ahold of the hotel director or cruise director ?

2024.05.31 21:27 CUBICHELOCO This is not a flex...Got my asbestos suit on...flame me.... I AM A HOARDER IN DENIAL.(Long)

I own 16 VCR;'s..yes 16..
Five are connected to 2 different TV's..The rest are stored away in one of my closets, maybe even covered with mold since I've had some humidity issues within the apartmernt in the past and frankly...I'm afraid to open the boxes to confirm..The reason for me buying these over the last 40 years was that since my first VCR in 1978;I started a hobby of taping musical performances from various talk/variety shows(Like Johnny Carson,Jay Leno,Letterman,Arsenio Hall,TV specials,MTV videos,Etc.). The hope was that in my retirement; I would go over all the recordings, edit them by copying to other tapes, etc. and cataloguing them;keeping a journal of the clips I had plus putting content lists inside the individual tapes, creating my own music video libraries.
By the early 90's;I had at least 1400 VHS and Betamax tapes (Yes,I had 2 Beta machines up to 2016 when the last one died)recorded..Out of those maybe 300 tapes had been classified and catalogued...I used to write on the cassette labels "Video Bits #(whater it was).
But by the mid 90's;I just lost interest in cataloguing anything...due to laziness, procrastination;finding other stuff to spend my money on(mainly Casino gambling). So now I had at least 2000 recorded tapes, not viewed, classified, catalogued, etc.
In 1997;when DVD's first became available,I started dubbing them into DVD. By 2003,they stopped making VCR's....I panicked...I thought I would not be able to play/dub the music performance tapes or my vast collection of bought movies on VHS.
I started buying VCR'S on EBAY or some other places online that still had VCR's for sale..Some of these were high end...Including the 1st High definition VCR by JVC in 2005 that played special tapes and had a picture quality comparable to a blu-ray...The top of the line model from 1988 from JVC that had special effects capabilities comparable to studio equipment,Etc.
In 2006,YouTube was born...I started uploading some videos of musical performances that had not been seen anywhere since the original broadcasts;some are still up. I actually experienced theft of some of the videos!...I also got copyright violations notices from YouTube;so I gave up on doing that by 2007.
One day in 2017,on impulse;I realized that I would not be able to catch up with all the cataloguing, labelling, etc. of the recordings...by that time I had at least 2500 tapes...I just started filling garbage bags with tapes and dumped them in the building bin. Took about a full day to get rid of everything..about 25 bags if I remember correctly. I still have about 500 used BETA and VHS tapes that I bought to re-use for the recordings...and I still have the 16 VCR's... I dread even thinking of getting rid of those because of the sunk-cost belief;plus now,due to extreme health issues,I am physically, mentally or emotionally able to consider doing so. I've never sold anything I've owned.and frankly,I am afraid of the scams on Facebook Marketplace,Craiglist, etc. I don't have the room or energy to establish an EBAY business.
.
Sometimes I regret doing that..Especially the clips from The Arsenio Hall Show..he had so many Rap/HipHop entertainers...Most of those performances are not on YouTube(I've searched).
I also have huge collections of physical media...I've stated on other Reddit forums that when I die,my landlady will have a huge windfall if she 's smart enough. My hope is that I get some help from the little family I've got left to process my stuff before I die;but at this moment that's unlikely to happen.
So what's the purpose of this post?...Maybe self-flagellation..Further validating my stupid ass mistakes that caused me to not be able to retire and still be in debt at age 67.
You may laugh at me/bully me/call me a waste of space... all you want..I'm ready to be whipped.

2024.05.31 04:44 _tjb You little punk!

You little punk!
Okay, I haven’t seen this mentioned ANYWHERE before!
This only works BEFORE you get the Club Card, which allows you access to the casino, if you clip or use another method to sneak behind the bouncer. So basically before you’re normally allowed to go in. You get behind the bouncer, and try to walk inside.
The screen blanks like it would changing areas. Then it puts you back so you’re standing before the bouncer. He makes one of two comments (see pictures), then HE SETS OFF A MEGA BOMB UNDERNEATH YOU!!!
So cool! Thanks, Ape!

2024.05.31 01:19 No-Highlight-7595 I don't know what's going on anymore.

I had a win rate of around 57%
No purchases ever made everything I grinded myself. I only went as far as tour 8 and maintained about 2.8 million credits back and forth.
However the last two days I have been unable to win a match.
It's not a matter of me playing poorly.. I'm doing great! The ball goes where it's supposed to nearly every shot is perfect, yet every game ends in a draw and during every shootout it doesn't matter how close I get, they are always closer even if their profile picture is an 99 year old man with 3-in thick glasses.
And for some reason almost all of my matches have become very unfair!
Their are times where somebody pulls out a level 5 apocalypse and on a par 5 sends it all the way to the green and I know I'm two shots away from doing that if everything goes perfect.
I guess that's the pay to win factor but when it's not as apparent as those sweaty try hard credit card warriors at least the shootout should be a little give and take but I joke you not 60 games today all down the drain... My win ratio is destroyed.
It's so bad now I have to wait for a chest to play another match. I honestly feel like I'm playing the AI who is just using real players profiles because there is no way everybody suddenly became this good to the point where I stand no chance at all.
Tour 8 down to tour 7 down to tour six 54321 now I can't play, 2.8 million credits vanished. This makes absolutely no sense especially when I place in the top 10 of the past few tournaments, this makes no sense whatsoever It feels like I'm at a casino and they let me win just enough to bet big and clean me out.
So I guess it's time to dig deep in my pocket of conspiracy theories.
  1. To generate revenue they use AI to punish players into credit sales.
  2. A brand new hack is out and everybody bought it but me.
  3. God is real and this is his way of teaching me a lesson.
  4. I'm dreaming and have yet to awaken from this nightmare.
  5. Aliens
Anything you want to say comment or add feel free.

2024.05.30 10:13 Extreme_Objective984 I bloody love this game, but...

So, I am a first time GM, I have owned the book for about 2 months and been eagerly consuming all BiTD content and setting myself up for my first sessions. I ran a session zero about a month ago then had to promptly wait for that group to get together again. Then this week, my 13 year old daughter expressed an interest. So I started up a campaign for her and my wife. I have now run 3 sessions this week.
And I bloody love it, it feels a more natural way of playing TTRPGs to me especially as I have ADHD. It allows me to be creative on the fly. I have learnt a great deal already, I have been far too easy with my scores and need to put in some more complications. I dont need to refer to the book as much, I know which stuff I am better at remembering so need to structure my quick references a little better.
The next thing I would say I am in the process of learning is to let my players perform some of the narrative work. I have one player who will, after I have described a scene or a layout of a building, will then start to argue with me over the plausibility of it. An example, they had to break into the offices above a Casino so they surveyed the building and discovered a fire escape. They use this to get to the office they had to infiltrate, and I describe the sash window that opens onto the fire escape. But the player then says well there should be a door, what kind of fire escape doesnt have a door. A similar thing happened when they had to dispose of a body through that window and they chose to throw it so it clears the fire escape and drops to the floor. The consequence of a Devils Bargain was in making that throw it would smash the window and security would be alerted and come running up the stairs. I then get the argument that the window was open so how would it smash?
Yes this is just a player thing, and the way they picture scenes in their head, and I can do a little better in my descriptions but also I can hand a little bit of the description off to them to mitigate this in the future.

2024.05.30 08:14 ImprovementOne860 searching for a pickguard

searching for a pickguard
howdy all,
recently lost my casino in a house fire, wasn’t able to locate one for a price i liked and just felt weird buying a direct replacement for something i loved so much.
happened upon this 62RI Sorrento, and i’m completely in love with it, it’s really calling out for a pickguard to me tho so i was wondering if anyone knows a decent uk pickguard manufacturer?
casino is in the 3rd picture and i only managed to get a couple songs out of it as it came to me shortly before the fire, link below for the songs x

Some Macau casino resort hotels mark Mayhall without beds
On Tuesday, nearly a week before mainland China's five-day Labor Day holiday season, some luxury hotels at Macau casino resorts said they already had no rooms available to book for that night.

This is the result of GGRAsia checking the hotel's own reservation site. 바카라사이트윈
The Chinese State Council has designated this year's Labor Day holiday in mainland China as May 1, which includes Wednesday, May 1, and Sunday, May 5. May 1 is also known as May Day.
As of Tuesday this week, 11 of the 32 local luxury hotel towers (mostly facilities at the Kotai Casino Resort) had indicated that they were fully booked for all five nights off. GGRAsia's search focuses on the king bed for two adults or the standard room category with two beds.
The luxurious venues with no room to stay overnight included Grand Lisboa, the flagship property on the Macau Peninsula run by SJM Holdings; Palazzo Versace Macau (pictured), two towers in the group's Kotai Real Estate Grand Lisboa Palace; and The Karl Lagerfeld; and MGM Macau's hotel run by MGM China Holdings Ltd.
Also filling up for the upcoming holidays are the upcoming ones: Epic Tower and Galaxy Hotels, Banyantree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, Ritz-Carlton Macau, and Galaxy Macau's Raffles, all of which are part of the second phase of Studio City, a property promoted by Melco Resorts & Entertainment.
The luxury hotels in the casino resort, which indicate that four of the five festival rooms are not publicly available, were MGM Kotai's M Tower and Emerald Tower, Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace operated by Wynn Macau Limited, City of Dream Macau's Nuwa Morpheus, and Venice and Paris' Macau promoted by Sands China Limited.
Nightly rates for hotel rooms still available in Kotai during the Labor Day holiday were mostly above MOP3,000 (US$372) except for taxes and other service charges. Rates indicate they peaked on the second and third days of the five-day break. Some Kotai casino resort standard room stays were above 5,000 MOPs per night during that time.
Macau may receive 130,000 tourists daily during the period, the head of the Macau government's tourism agency said in comments to media last week.
Macau recorded about 98,000 daily visitors during the 2023 Labor Day holiday, which ran for five days on the mainland from April 29 to May 3 of that year. Macau's average hotel occupancy during the period was 85%, according to data from the tourism agency.

2024.05.29 19:53 InsaneComicBooker Vecna Mixed, Not Shaken - fleshing out the adventure with classic modules

I was planning simple guide to adventures that could be used to substitute for any levels of Vecna: Eve of Ruin that didn't work for you, for whatever reason. However, some of these ideas begun lining up too well and I had to separate them into their own post. Withotu a further ado, here are ten modules from previous editions, that I would use to modify the adventure, expanding it. This take begins on level 9 (8 if you use Chapter 1 of Eve of Ruin as lv 8 adventure) and still reaches all the way to 20.
Expedition to the Demonweb Pits
This third edition adventure starts at level 9, but it also has a shortened alternative version that starts at 10. Either way it ends at level 12. The plot would need some adjustments, so here is how I'd do it, to connect it with the Eve of Ruin:
Once Vecna's plan succeeds, Lolth will have revenge on Corellon and Seldraine she was promised. Worshippers of Demon Queen of Spiders are getting agitated by this fact, becoming more aggressive, which PCs take a notice of., leading to them being called to Sigil to meet the Wizards Three, also accompannied by cambion Rule-Of-Three, son of Graz'zt, Demon Prince of Lust. Who officially is there to accompanny his stepmother, Tasha. The PCs are tasked with stopping Lolth from gathering alliens to invade Seldraine, eventually breaking her attempt at forming alliance with several Demon Lords. They may or may not realize on the way that Graz'zt is secretly helping them to make the alliance fall.
During this adventure DM should leave clues there is more to Loth's plan and that she has a mysterious ally. Eventually the PCs should gather enough evidence to realize Vecna is that ally and Lolth's actions were effectively distraction for any powerful do-gooders, keeping their attention away from the lich god's ritual. In Demonweb Pits, PCs find one of pieces of Rod of the Seven Parts and gather enough information to realize the item poses threat to Vecna's plans.
If PCs survive the adventure, demon lords go into an all-out war with each other and Demogorgon and Zuggtmoy invade Demonweb Pits, keeping Lolth occupied. Wizards Three sends PCs on a quest to obtain other peices of the rod, while they try to locate them, one by one. If PCs do not survive, which is possible considering the finale of this speciffic adventure has them interrupt a meeting between many, many demon lords, Wizards Three attemtps Wish, summonning new PCs, with a link to Vecna.
Under the Dark Fist
Classic Spelljammer adventure, with 5e conversion on DMSGuild. This is a campaign for levels 10-14, that may be run as a standalone adventure, and as such is suitable for substitution of any adventures from chapters one to four. Spelljammer experts I asked told me it does not really have material for a full multi-level campaign, so it could be easily inserted as Spelljammer chapter. Personally, I am tempted put some extra work into streching it out and making a campaign in which I can nest other adventures. Because the premise of this campaign is that a powerful Vodoni Empire, that rules over Twelve Crystal Spheres in Known Space with a mithral fist and an ARMY OF WEREWOLVES, seeks to conquer Greyspace, Krynnspace and Realmspace in all out assault. I am really tempted by idea to make Vodoni allies of Vecna and Lolth, with the emperor Vulkaran keeping a piece of Rod as a gift from Vecna. Maybe he even got the Eye of Vecna too? Vecna promised Vodoni to rule all of Known Space in his multiverse, if they crush the planets most likely to produce heroes who can stop his plans. Combined, and maybe even run cocurrently with Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, these adventures could neatly build up the threat level of Vecna and his forces. The heroes Spelljamming and Planejamming, constantly seeing either Vodoni attacking other worlds or Lolth gathering hordes of demons under her command, all while Vecna is doing his ritual.
A Paladin in Hell
This may be an interesting addition in place of any adventure at level 15 or up. It's another 2nd edition module, I'm not aware of there being a conversion. The plot involves PCs boarding demon-manned ship Demonwing, to venture deep into Stygia, Fifth Layer of Nine Hells, to rescue a temple dragged there through a plot to steal (or rather, steal back) a powerful artifact, by Asmodeus himself. Fiend tasked with this job trapped a soul of her mortal enemy, a powerful paladin, who was one of the heroes who stole the artifact in the first place, at the center of the spell. In the adventure, Demonwing is granted the PCs by said paladin's wizard friend, powerful mage Emirikol the Chaotic. It allows to bypas usual ways going to hell operates, where every portal or teleportation from the outside sends you to Avernus and you have to "walk" all the way down. You could still have it go to Avernus if you want to run that Casino adventure, but if you find it too goofy, you can fly it directly to Stygia. Make piece of Rod of the Seven Parts be held alongside with, or outright be the artifact Asmodeus wants. You can also make one of Wizards Three *cough*TashaakakaIgglyv*cough* be the chaotic wizard who gives the PCs this ship. Maybe do it earlier, instead of the constant "shunting" to new worlds, make the PCs planejamm there? You could then connect this adventure to Under the Dark Fist. Just a warning - Demons manning this ship want to be free. And while they cannot mutiny, they'll be free if they manage to get its current owners, the PCs, killed...
EDIT: u/amhow1 pointed out Emirikol resurfaced in an Adventurer's League adventure and is rumored to be in posession of the Eye of Vecna, suggesting he could show up to try and take the ship back. Which I think is a neat idea to incorproate the Eye into the campaign.
City of Skulls
Classic 2nd Edition adventure for levels between 9 to 12, set in the world of Greyhawk. The mission presented here is to save people imprisoned by Iuz the Evil, in the capital city of his Empire, Dorakaa, titular City of Skulls. You could have guy the PCs need to rescue, Earl Holmer of Walworth, either know where next piece of the Rod is, or be necessary to obtain it. Or maybe one of Wizards Three went to recover the Rod and got captured? Iuz may have kidnapped these people precisely to find which one of them can lead him to the Rod. The Old One does not have high opinion of Vecna, the two have a long history and rivarly. In fact, if this adventure ends with PCs captured, they may still salvage it by appealing to Iuz' hatred for Vecna and convince him to help them just to spite the lich. Bonus point if you used any adventures utilizing Tasha/Igglyv or Graz'zt at this point, the PCs may try to use knowing Iuz's parents to win some points with him. If combiend with Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, it may even be Graz'zt, Iuz and Igglyw are working together in secret, trying to undermine Vecna at all costs.
Prison of the Firebringer
Published in Dungeon Magazine #101 for Third Edition, this Forgotten Realms adventure deals with a plot to release a deranged, two-headed Primodial, Ascended Slaad Lord, Bazim-Gorag, Lord of the Pandemonium Stone. There is a cult trying to free him and needing to kidnapp or coerce three wizards of opposite aligment to do so. You could maybe change few things to make it that the cult, say, works for Vecna and, in retaliation for PCs meddling, they kidnapp the Wizards Three to use them in a ritual, and release the Firebringer onto the Sword Coast, as another way to slow down search for the Rod's parts and retaliate on the worlds that dare to oppose the Whispered One.
Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga
Classic Adventure, with DMSGuild 5e conversion. It's intended for characters of Tier 3, through Baba Yaga in it is supposed to be played as a reocurring menance, that keeps terrorizing the PCs with her near invincible hut, as she travels the worlds to collect artifacts. Have Baba Yaga be working with Kas's side (she is, after all, rumored to be Igglyv's mother), and you have a reoccuring enemy charing from the Feywild to steal pieces of the Rod. Since I cannot find a good way to tie Eberron or Midgard into this specific revamp, we could also declare it canon this is the same Baba Yaga who terrorizes Midgard AND she's Sora Kell of Eberron. If at any point she does steal pieces of the Rod, PCs may follow her to Eberron and face her and her daughters in Droaam, Kingdom of Monsters.
Shadow of the Black Rose
Avialable on DMS Guild, Shadow of the Black Rose is a level 11-13 sequel to Shadow of the Dragon Queen. It's a mission to go and slay Lord Soth once and for all, before he raises undead army and unleashes his rage on Absalon. Officially it's supposed to be set right after Shadow of the Dragon Queen, but you could be more lore accurrate and move it few years, to happen right after War of the Blue Lady - after that event Soth gets dragged to Demiplane of Dread for several years, if not decades, only to return at exactly the same moment he disappeared. No wonder the guy is pissed. In official timeline, he doesn't do anything for next 25 years, before dying at Takhisis' hand. So you may as well kill him off here. You could potentially squeeze it as a level 12 adventure, gettign PCs to level 13. Maybe give Soth a piece of the Rod, maybe PCs receive as as a reward from the Gods of Good for laying his soul to rest.
Would Soth work with Vecna? I'm not sure. If you say Strahd and Kas are working together, I could see it, Soth hates Strahd. I can now imagine a hialrious picture of Soth and Vecna bonding over their mutual dislike of a respective very specific vampire... Also, a good excuse to have Soth and Kas fight, the two are good foils to one another and it may be interesting to trap the PCs in a "whoever wins, we lose" situation.
One last note is that, with a bit tweaking, you should be able to add this adventure to expand the one in chapter 6, if you fall on the side of the werewolf debate that accepts it. I originally planned to have more about this topic, but apparently werewolves are canon Krynn creatures since first edition AD&D World of Krynn, the people who don't consider them canon are the ones who declare everything not written by Weiss and Hickman "Kender Tales". Still, that dungeon could use more focus on Soth and conclusion to his sory for SotDQ players.
At this point, we actually do get an interesting set of two evil sides fighting for the rod, if we combine the five adventures above. On the one hand we have Vecna, Lolth, Emperor Vulkaran of the Vodoni Empire, Bazim-Gorag and Lord Soth. On the other we have Dark Powers, Kas, possibly Strahd (to explain why Soth is team Vecna), Iuz, Graz'zt and, likely, Igglyv and Baba Yaga. One side tries to crush the whole worlds opposing Vecna and safeguards pieces of the rod they found, other both uses the PCs to collect it and try to get them themselves.
Where Chaos Reigns
This may be an odd addition. Adventure for levels 17-19 of BECMI era, that's actually a series of smaller time-travel adventures your party needs to undertake to weaken the Oards - otherworldly, technologically advanced aliens, that hate magic and seek to erase it from history - before being able to launch an assault on them. Oards (who I would call Borg Wannabees, if they didn't predate the Borg by 4 years) may possess a piece of the Rod. Maybe they keep it because Vecna's ritual weakness the space-time continuum enough for them to destroy magic, and they do not want it to be interrupted, confident they can stop him by erasing him from history alongside all magic. Or maybe they need the Rod to ensure their word - word of death to all magic - is the law? Oards added to the campaign may provide an additional faction gunning for the Rod and adventures focused on them may provide new additional obstacles, after Vecna's other allies have been mostly dealt with.
Standing Forlon
A rare Tier IV Ravenloft Adventure, Standing Forlon gives complete Celtic Mythology makeover to an obscure Domain of Dread, giving it a Darklord so powerful the PCs will need to go back in time to prevent him from ever getting this realm transported into the mists. May lean on a long side for substitution level, but it has potential. Especially when you consider Book of Vile Darkness, the same one Vecna wrote, is in this module and past version of Azalin Rex, from time when he's been enslaved by Strahd, shows up to obtain it. And that there are time paradoxes PCs may use to obtain a copy of the book even if Azalin takes his. But if we would replace Azalin with Kas, a past version who seeks the book, we could use this to situatioin in which he obtains it, or at least learns of Crown fo Lies from it, but loses his sword in the process, letting a PC to pick it. Or maybe agents of Vecna, like Hand and Eye, are seeking the book on his behalf? Maybe it's all of them at once? The possibilities are very promising.
Queen of the Demonweb Pits
This is a classis AD&D adventure by Gary Gygax, one that is very fitting, if you decide not to use Expedition to Demonweb Pits. It's very straightforward - you go to Demonweb Pits to beat up Lolth, Demon Queen of Spiders. It always felt very disjointed from other modules in the series it was part of (G- Agaisnt the Giants and D - Drow or Descent Into the Depths of Earth), due to a lot of executive meddling and in-fighitng behind the scenes. As such it could be relatively easy to make into the climatic fight with Lolth over last peice of the Rod. I think this should be a high-level chapter. While there aren't any conversions I know of, if Against the Giants in Tales from the Yawning Portal goes from levels 11 to 14, then Drow series would go from levels 14 to 17, making Queen of Demonweb Pits a 17 level challenge.
So here is how the combination of those adventures would overlap with the main structure of Eve of Ruin
Levels 8-12: After dealing with cult of Vecna and some aggressive Lolth worshipping Drow in Neverwinter, PCs are called to Sigil, where they are tasked with trying to stop Lolth from uniffying Demon Lords in an assault on Seldraine, upper planes and the material plane. Iggliv presents them Demonwing, which can planejam, moving both through Wild Space and the Planes as needed. Around this time PCs become aware Vodoni Empire begun war against Realmspace, Krynnspace and Oerthspace and Wildspace is now a very dangerous place.
Levels 12-14: After foiling Lolth's ploth, the PCs discover her alliance with Vecna and that the Rod of Seven parts is the only thing capable of stopping Whispered One. Mordekainen and Alustriel venture to gather pieces in their worlds, only for one to be captured by Iuz and other by cult trying to unleash Bazim-Gorag. PCs aren't aware Iuz switches Mordekainen for Kas, who wears Crown of Lies. After recovering them and their pieces of the Rod, PCs help defeat Vodoni, whom are revealed to be Vecna's allies, taking fourth piece of the Rod from the emperor.
Level 15-17: PCs recover another peice of the Rod from Lord Soth, Stygia and Folron. If they haven't dealt with Loth yet, they may need to pry the final piece off her apendages. On the way they must deal with threats of Oards and Baba Yaga, who try to take the Rod for their own goals. They eventually need to strike Oards in their own dimension and possibly challenge Baba Yaga in Eberron, where she is known as Sora Kell. They also keep running in with Kas, who seeks Rod for his own goals, including his past self, who learns of the Crown.
Levels 18-20 - after assembling the Rod, adventure follows as written, except Tasha/Igglyv was in on Kas' scheme, and Mordekainen is still locked in one of Iuz' cells. During final battle in Pandemonium, Lolth's forces ale aided by remaining Vodoni and, if he wasn't defeated, Lord Soth's undead armies, while Kas and Miska have on their side hordes of demons commanded by Igglyv and Graz'zt, and possibly vampires of Strahd, monsters of Droaam and Baba Yaga.
I willcertainly do at least one more of these posts - I suspect there will be one list like this focusing exclusively on Forgotten Realms modules, as I know there was demand for that, but I only featured one adventure tied to the realms in here.

2024.05.29 17:36 Helpful_Criticism702 Flag Design for New Vegas (Fallout: New Vegas)

Link to Flag on Imgur
Hello there! I was playing Fallout New Vegas when I realized that the city of New Vegas didn’t have a flag, so I thought I’d have some fun by designing one for the city.
Green/Black Background: Supposed to represent the ruler of New Vegas, Mr. House. In-game, he is represented by a tv screen that pictures him as black and green.
Red/Yellow: The red is supposed to represent the luxury that New Vegas has to offer with its many casinos and hotels, while the yellow is supposed to represent the energetic feel of the city.
Yellow Line: Supposed to represent the New Vegas Strip, since that is the main attraction of the city.
Diamond in Forefront: Supposed to represent the iconic Las Vegas sign when you enter the city.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
(Sorry that the flag is through a link, I tried to post the flag through Reddit directly and it ended up not posting.)

My Canon journey and my thoughts. THRAWN, RAEL AVEROS, dark side VOSS. Great storytelling all around.
The picture says it all… (SEE SECOND PIC FOR TEXT) Read before below.
Have also read LOST STARS which really kicked off the whole seeing things from both sides and challenging the black and white nature of Star Wars. Yet now I feel like Lucasfilm have become Imperial sympathizers. PHASMA has really stuck with me. Mostly the desperation it makes you feel. The struggle across this hostile world, forgotten by even the light of the Force. “There is nothing in the desert and no man needs nothing.” Gave up on CANTO-BIGHT after the wine delivery story. I would rather take my money to the casino in space from an episode of SW RESISTANCE. Which I will add is owned and operated by a Hutt. Lastly MOVING TARGET is a fun little Leia side adventure. While it’s nothing of consequence it has made me curious to read the PADME trilogy of books or LEIA OF ALDERAAN. I hate that the YA novels are never included on the canon timeline list. Now I’m just rambling.

2024.05.29 06:33 ARP_Myoko AITAH for resenting a coworker for simply not interacting with me

I 26M have been working for a casino as a cage cashier vault banker for almost 8 months and for some context to give a bit of a bigger picture one of the slot supervisors who we will call J for the sake of this... everytime I tried to interact or simply say hi or thank you stuff like that he would just give me the cold shoulder and just shrug me off like I wasn't even there and it has been bothering me ever since I had started working where I do and I have been bringing it up to my coworker who we will call L and I told her about this over and over again and she is just as shocked as I am that J is doing this to me and it got to the point where I said "you know what fuck J if he doesn't wanna interact with me I am gonna do the same to him because this is getting ridiculous and you would think over the past almost 8 months he would start interacting and get used to me" and L actually agreed to some but all of the things that I had to say on the matter. She is gonna keep interacting with J and all that stuff but then I started to feel remorse for it slowly but surely as the night went on then I spilt the beans on the whole thing and another slot supervisor who we will call D for this D then told me "thats because he has been used a lot and has closed himself off and he isn't what you think he is" and that right there from what he said... fully solidified the remorse. AITAH for thinking this?
