I have a few questions about the existence of facts and knowledge!

2024.06.02 06:53 AiMemeTalk I have a few questions about the existence of facts and knowledge!

Is something factual if the source supporting the fact does not control or create all elements leading to that fact? Are we only left with the scientific method to prove what is factual? Does the outcome of using a fact in testing prove the validity of the fact? Can knowledge only exist if it has been tested and the outcome being repeatable as source of validity or justification?

I feel like I am studying for the MCAT all over again with these.
Is there a method to the madness?
Normally on the B/B, you could look at the figures and more or less figure out the results of the study they're asking about.
These questions could well give you very deceiving figure that you have to figure and play scientific mind games at the same time, all within 10 seconds.
What are people's strategies for these to cut down the BS?

2024.06.02 05:22 sad_panda91 [SF] Do you see what I see? - Of Manifesting an Ice Cream Cone

"Not a single human being on this planet ever saw the universe."
Grand Arbiter Albert XLIII further declared, on their return 37 years after the last broadcast failed in the middle of explaining the secrets of the universe to us.
"What you are seeing is an image of the universe that your brain created to make sense of your surroundings. A mirage, an infinitely imperfect approximation. And there are roughly 8 Billion such approximations on this planet, not even counting non-human entities. We have observed you recently - debating wether the harmonic frequencies of light hitting the rods and cones of your eyes actually generate the same image of color in your brain for all of you equally, and you came to the conclusion that they might not. That everybodies version of "red" or "blue" might be ever so slightly, or completely different. We found it amusing that you aren't drawing the same conclusion to, well, everything else. Through the scientific method and communication accelerators like the Internet, your species managed to align big chunks of those "mirage universes" in your brains, but other areas not touched by the scientific method are left completely unexplored, and therefore to the imagination of the individual. Which lead to many "unfortunate misunderstandings" among you. But make no mistake, even after this global alignment of mirages, the universe inside your mind is still infinitely wrong in the grand scheme of things and unlike any other imagined universe of your peers. Your scientific method suggests the use of calibrated measurement devices that aren't biased by human error to gain knowledge of your surroundings. Which is brilliant, we might add. Your species came up with this kind of technology very early compared to similar lifeforms in other universes. You use these devices to create a "ground truth" from which you reference the rest of your conclusions and predictions. This enabled you to make predictions about the "real universe" you find yourself in, even with this fundamental error underlying your logic system. Either brilliant, or unfathomly lucky. It doesn't really matter. You can pat yourselves on the backs for that.
However, amusingly, you failed to find the crucial detail about the one fundamental, yet completely uncalibrated device at the bottom of everything - your brain - and the sensory organs as extensions of it. No single eye on this planet is the same, no nose, no ears, everything differs ever so slightly. Every brain is folded and twisted differently.
Therefore, what you are observing, and what your scientists are finding models for, is not the real universe. It is the image of this universe your brain creates for you, that makes sense to most of you and that most of your brains are able to understand and find agreement on. Nothing more, nothing less. Especially the intricacies that you are now finding in the infinitissimally small scales and the unfathomly large scales (you curiously still differentiate these two concepts, we observed) are the footprints that the architecture of your brain leaves on these mirage universes. You find numbers everywhere and turn everything into a more and more digital version of nature because the axons that are part of your neurons generate activation signals in a digital, all or nothing kind of way. This part of the brain is what you evolved to use for, among others, your logic systems. Your thinking is in large parts digital, so most of your logic is too. This has gone so far that some of you now think you are actually living in a computer simulation. In some regards, you do, but there is no cosmic entity that generated this simulation and put you in it. You are creating this simulation yourself, in your brain, as a means to maneuver your way around actual physical reality. Imagine having to memorize a picture, but your sensory input systems only allowed you to see one pixel at a time, chosen completely at random, without any reference as to where that pixel is located in the frame. So, you found chunking techniques, the help of your collective hive mind and ideas of particularly eccentric members of your society, to bit by bit close in on a mostly impossible task. But without a paradigm shift on your end, the entirety of the original picture will stay in the shadows of reality.
You created tools like algebra and geometry to circumvent the fact that your logic is mostly digital as a simulacrum of analog information, but for how remarkably useful it is for you to make predictions, it is to what is happening in the real world like what an abacus is to a personal computer. Sure, if you enter '1 + 1', in their own ways, both give you '2'. But one is the tip to the others impossibly large iceberg. It is a sensible abstraction. But it is nowhere close to being an accurate description of what is actually happening or in what ways it useful to you.
We don't want to discourage you by saying this. Your approach, even if it happened out of sheer luck, is brilliant. It really makes the best out of the limitations that you have by your sensory organs and the architecture of your brains. Once a few evolutionary steps later your brain can conceive of more complex logical patterns and images, you will get closer and closer to having an actual copy of the real universe in front of your minds eye. Through the scientific method, you are already optimizing for this. Again, given your species' age, you have developed such a technique incredibly quickly. But what you are doing is finding (very smart) workarounds over a fundamental error you all have in common.
My lifeform, which isn't too unlike yours, just much "older", has taken a different approach in its early stages. Our biggest thinkers found early on that the answers lie within. So for millenia, we focussed our exploration on finding our deepest and truest selves, once we started to move past basic survival instincts, that is. Only after many, many "quantum leaps" in the area of self discovery in the individual and the societal level, we started to artificially accelerate our communication, and overcome physical limitations through technology. It was a slower approach in the beginning, but once we got there, our intellectual growth was exponentially explosive. The time it took us to move from living in basic, mostly local communities that lived off the land - to bending our universe to our wills - was about the time between you writing your currently most popular spiritual fiction and landing on your planets moon for the first time. Note the actual durations might differ greatly, as the concept you call time is very different in our universe and we still haven't fully studied yours.
Anyways. After this event we call "universal reframing", everything else just... fell into place.
Our strategy basically was to, first, fully align our mental universes. And then to perform a depth search from a common starting point. You seemed to have rushed over a few of the crucial bits as soon as the first approach turned out to be useful. Actually, all of the bits but one. It must be a terribly confusing existence that you are living. We can only make an attempt to relate, as our evolutionary strand optimized for alignment before curiousity. That, you could say, was our dumb luck.
Are there any questions so far?"
There was a puzzling silence in an area packed with an amount of people that would normally be present at music festivals or presidential inaugurations. For an event of this magnitude, the stage was sparsely decorated and included only the necessities. Like last time, the visit was spontaneos and unannounced. Or maybe, like last time, we just didn't understand the announcement message, as it might have again came in the form of a formerly undiscovered particle, a seemingly arbitrary number of years prior to this event. They must think they are really funny.
One of the humans chosen as representative of the planet raised their hand.
"Please, speak. As always. Our 'time' is very limited."
"If I didn't misunderstand this: You said, our brains are basically creating what we call 'simulations' for ourselves, in our mind, to make sense of the actual universe we are in and base our actions on. Is this correct?"
"Based on the very crude definition your species has for the word 'correct' I would say 'yes, that is correct.'"
"And these simulations are getting closer and closer to the real deal, right? But what if, say, we didn't want the real deal. What if we liked our own personal pocket universes and instead wanted to bend that one to our own wills instead of the real one? You said we are bad at alignment and I would agree to the point where I say we probably go extinct to our own stupidity before we all agree on even one single thing. Can't we just use your knowledge to just, manifest things into our universe just by thinking about it, like in the movie Matrix, which might have crossed your desk while researching us. Great Movie."
"It did indeed. It is esteemed by my lifeform as what you would call 'slapstick comedy'. Since we moved past what constituted our form of entertainment, the media from your universe has become very popular among my peers. It is by sending samples back to our universe how we finance the probes we are sending here."
"You still have money?"
"I was making - what you call - a joke. Never heard of it in the context of a movie, but that title is immensely funny to me given the circumstances. Anyway, you wanted to know how to bend your 'simulated universe' around you. Alright. You might be slightly dissappointed by the beginning of my explanation, but listen till the end. And make of that what you will.
Let's start by what you mean by 'manifest' exactly. As the inaccuracy of your communication patterns shall not be a hindrance to this mentorship."
"Well... I imagine it. And then it sort of poofs into existence?"
"Understood. Actually, I will start explaning how you perform this action in the actual universe you are in, before I make the transfer to how you do it in the imagined one in your brain."
"Uh.. ok?"
"What would you like to be manifested?"
"I don't know. How about we go nice and easy with a cone of ice cream and start from there?"
"So be it. So, we start imagining the cone of ice cream. What does it consist off? Milk, sugar, eggs, and some smaller additions to suit your individuals taste buds. Let's begin with milk. You are getting it from cows (a practice my society finds quite alienating. We, too, have to get used to the wildly varying customs of lifeforms of the universes). Cows can be domesticated and bred, but first, we would have to overcome the physical distance between us, and a few locations on this planet. For that, I would advice designing and constructing a vehicle that is capa..."
"Oh come on, that's how we manifest things? We go and make them ourselves?? Oh wow, thanks a lot mister transcendant being. So the rest of the stuff you told us was also bullshit?"
"Please refrain from jumping to conclusions without the full picture in mind, even if it is in your existences nature to do so. Alright, so let me offer you a shortcut."
"Please do."
"I know of a location just a few human paces down this road, where you can exchange currency for a cone of ice cream."
"Seriously?"
"Yes."
"What the hell is the point of this?"
"The point is, once again: you - misunderstanding your existence. Especially in conjunction with your incredibly limited ability to verbalize concepts using your own vocabulary. You are barely at the point of being able to convey emotions in every day speech, and are now expecting to understand high level 4 dimensional concepts after just a few of your incredibly inaccurate words. Tell me now, please: What do you perceive as the difference of these two scenarios I just mentioned? In a temporal manner and in the energy required?"
"Well, it would be much easier and faster to just go down the road and buy a cone of ice cream, but that isn't tremendously astounding information to us, you have to understand."
"'Much'? Let's give this word, 'much', a bit of a frame of reference. The differences between these scenarios are: About 15000 years of agriculture and animal husbandry; countless inventions that led to your current state of technology which allows for refrigeration in a way advanced enough to get the ice cream to just the right texture that your modern palate is accustomed to; An education system that allows for such inventions to occur in time for you to be standing here, demanding ice cream, and actually getting it. Not mentioning the infrastructure that makes you bridge the physical distances of every single time any of these steps needed anything. And meanwhile destroying the naturally occuring resources of your planet bit by bit.
Or, scenario 2: You take the money that you got from staring at a computer screen for about 7 minutes, choose one of the ice cream parlors that your civilization made sure to be on average a 30 minutes driving distance from every single living human. (You aren't very good at even distributions though, we found.). And go and get that ice cream. Even including the infrastructural costs existing now, we have narrowed this process down from not even being close to a reality for thousands of generations to being at most 30 minutes away and dirt cheap, assuming an amount of efficient preparation, that is part of the technology that lead you here.
If you ask me, between scenario 1 and 2, you became so many orders of magnitude closer to 'poofing it into existence' that a human mind has troubles comprehending it. And therefore, appreciating it. From '0% of the human population has access to this within their lifetime and no one will for the next couple millenia' to 'Over half the human population has access to this within 30 minutes", taking into account the total timespan, the amount of events that had to occur and the amount of incremental learnings that had to accumulate, for this to happen even once for anybody, I believe the time and energy you have to exert to access your ice cream cone right now is a rounding error in the grand scheme of things. And you aren't even close to finishing your development as humans - if you manage to not kill yourself somehow.
You are constantly manifesting things into reality, the only issue is that you severely and heavily underestimate what it means 'to imagine a thing'.
Please allow my vanity, but this is an important lesson for the following part that you are, I'm afraid, more interested in. How to do that in your head. And potentially much faster. Well assuming thaXXXxxxx----.----."
"Oh wow, not again. Mighty convenient this always happens right when it gets interesting."
"First, you have to understand that.,.......... The limitations of spacetime that you perceive.... are not present in nature..... nature is infinitely 'dimensional', and in fact XXxxx.....----..--.-.- has no concept for infinity....-.-.--. it is a human made.....-.-.-.- model to describe a perfectly natural phenomenon you lack the words for at this time..._xxxx.xxx-x---.-.--.-zzzz."
"Come on, speak faster! The battery is dying again!"
" ...physical distance...S;.,.XXXxx...currently a big bottleneck for your progres...asd.döö,,,, is also a limitation of your cortex, not nature,.....-as.d.sa......the concept of an 'extent' only exists from certain frames of references..-.-..-.a.ss.a.as.... in others everything is....a.s-d.-.---.-..-xxxx on top of each other, overlapping each other in what you call 'time' AND 'space'"
"...XXXxsasad Listen."
"I am running out of time again humans. The Hopf Fibration. It is a great first step. But move away from your digital thinking. Treat your numbers. .aD;,aC:.x.cx.ac,.as,dca.s like your waves...CKLUJCJUCCLICK"
The broadcast stopped.
"I never know if these things make me smarter, or dumber. Sadly the alien is gone now so it can't tell me that there actually is no smart or dumb."

RESEARCH SUGGESTS LEADERS’ SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE TAKEN JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS FORMAL STATEMENTS

Over 180 world leaders maintain social media accounts, and some of them issue policy warnings to rivals and the public on these platforms rather than relying on traditional government statements. How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. The research, by MIT political scientists, deploys novel surveys of both the public and experienced foreign policy specialists. “What we find, which is really surprising, across both

SCALE OF ONLINE HARM TO CHILDREN REVEALED IN GLOBAL STUDY

More than 300 million children a year are victims of online sexual exploitation and abuse, research indicates. Pupils in every classroom, in every school, in every country are victims of this hidden pandemic, according to researchers who have conducted the first global estimate of the scale of the crisis. The statistics, from the Childlight Global Child Safety Institute at the University of Edinburgh, amount to a clear and present danger to the world’s children, according to the crime agency Interpol. Online risks One in eight of the world’s children, about

PRONATALISM IS THE LATEST SILICON VALLEY TREND. WHAT IS IT—AND WHY IS IT DISTURBING?

For Malcolm and Simone Collins, declining birth rates across many developed countries are an existential threat. The solution is to have “tons of kids,” and to use a hyperrational, data-driven approach to guide everything from genetic selection to baby names and day-to-day parenting. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. And a Guardian journalist witnessed Malcolm strike their two-year-old across the face for misbehavior, a parenting style they apparently developed based on watching “tigers

HOW SCIENCE, MATH, AND TECH CAN PROPEL SWIMMERS TO NEW HEIGHTS

One hundred years ago, in the 1924 Paris Olympics, American Johnny Weissmuller won the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 59 seconds. Nearly 100 years later, in the most recent Olympics, the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo, Caeleb Dressel took home the same event with a time that was 12 seconds faster than Weissmuller’s. Swimming times across the board have become much faster over the past century, a result of several factors, including innovations

BANNING SEX CRIME OFFENDERS FROM CHANGING THEIR NAMES DOESN’T MAKE US SAFER

The government of British Columbia recently introduced a bill to ban people convicted of serious offenses from legally changing their name. The proposed amendment to the province’s Name Act would also prohibit those found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder from changing their name. The government announced the move after media reports that Allan Schoenborn legally changed his name to Ken Johnson. Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children in 2010 because of a delusional disorder, and was placed at a psychiatric hospital.

SILICON VALLEY ISN’T THE START-UP UTOPIA WE THOUGHT, RESEARCH FINDS

Silicon Valley—considered the world’s hub of technology and innovation—can breed inequality and sameness among budding entrepreneurs, according to new research. Behind the multi-million-dollar deals and tales of start-up utopia, Silicon Valley’s “uneven” investment landscape is in fact a barrier to many budding businesses, says the study from the University of Stirling and Georg-August-University Göttingen. But the researchers suggest other countries could still learn from the more discerning entrepreneurial ecosystem that bred giants such as Apple and Google, to be more selective in backing start-ups. While it is not uncommon for

I WANT TO KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM ABUSE—BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME I’M DOING IT WRONG

Child sexual abuse is uncomfortable to think about, much less talk about. The idea of an adult engaging in sexual behaviors with a child feels sickening. It’s easiest to believe that it rarely happens, and when it does, that it’s only to children whose parents aren’t protecting them. This belief stayed with me during my early days as a parent. I kept an eye out for creepy men at the playground and was skeptical of men who worked with young children, such as teachers and coaches. When my kids were

CYBERFLASHING IS A FORM OF GENDERED SEXUAL VIOLENCE THAT MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Sexting—sending sexually suggestive or explicit messages and images—is now a widespread practice, and can be a healthy way to express and explore sexuality. However, there is a need to distinguish between consensual sexting and forms of sexual harassment like cyberflashing. Cyberflashing refers to the act of non-consensually sending sexual imagery (like nudes or “dick pics”) to another person. It is facilitated through communications technologies including text, AirDrop and social media applications like Snapchat and Tinder. Similar to flashing—when a person unexpectedly and deliberately “flashes” their genitals to others—that occurs in

MARKETERS CAN MANAGE ‘FEATURE CREEP’ SO CONSUMERS FEEL LESS INTIMIDATED BY TOO MANY FEATURES IN A PRODUCT

Wifi-enabled washing machines. Voice-controlled microwaves. App-enabled TVs, vacuum cleaners, and even window blinds you can control from the comfort of your couch. Many of the technological features now included in everyday products are useful and accessible. But research has shown that having too many can overwhelm potential buyers, making them less likely to make a purchase. In recent research, Wayne Hoyer, marketing professor and James L. Bayless/William S. Farrish Fund Chair for Free Enterprise at Texas McCombs, digs into the phenomenon of “feature creep” and its impact on consumer sentiment.

RESEARCHERS EXPLAIN SOCIAL MEDIA’S ROLE IN RAPIDLY SHIFTING SOCIAL NORMS ON GENDER AND SEXUALITY

A new paper summarizing decades of research demonstrates how social media has supported an explosion of diversity in gender and sexuality in America during the 21st century, and also how these technologies have equally enabled a cultural backlash. The paper’s authors, UC Santa Cruz Psychology Department faculty members Phil Hammack and Adriana Manago, identified five main narratives about gender and sexuality that they believe emerged through social media as people have strived to be “authentic” on these platforms. The findings, along with resulting recommendations for psychology researchers and practitioners, were

KEY FACTORS IN TRAINING ASSESSORS FOR ENHANCED PERFORMANCE RATINGS

New research is examining how organizations can improve their training programs by customizing frame-of-reference training to emphasize identifying negative behaviors critical to their goals. While assessors naturally identify positive behaviors, C. STUDIES CHALLENGE WIDELY HELD BELIEFS ON APPLICANT DIVERSITY AND WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE

Justin Frake is interested in cause-and-effect relationships in real-world data and the hidden dynamics that shape workplace behavior and equality—or inequality, as the case might be. His curiosity has led to research that challenges some popular beliefs as well as published studies related to women in the workforce. One study shows that firms promoting flatter hierarchies inadvertently discourage female applicants and another study counters several recent studies that claim women CEOs negatively impact career outcomes of other women. Both are published in the Strategic Management Journal. The assistant professor of

CHALLENGING LEWIN’S MOTIVATIONAL CONFLICTS THEORY

A recent series of experiments challenges the longstanding theory of motivational conflict resolution introduced by Kurt Lewin. According to Lewin, conflicts between two undesirable outcomes (avoidance–avoidance conflicts) are typically harder to resolve than those between two desirable ones (approach–approach conflicts). Lewin posited that avoidance–avoidance conflicts, where individuals must choose between two undesirable outcomes, are typically more challenging to resolve compared to approach–approach conflicts, which involve choosing between two desirable options.

No means no when it comes to sex. But what happens when a woman makes a more passive response to a sexual advance? According to new research from Binghamton University, men differ in how they interpret these types of responses, and men who display hostile masculinity, known commonly as “toxic masculinity,” tend to act on them regardless of whether or not they think it’s consensual. WHY WE DEHUMANIZE OUR POLITICAL OPPONENTS

Some of human history’s greatest atrocities—genocide, slavery, ethnic cleanings—are rooted in our ability to dehumanize people from other social, political, or cultural groups. Whereas prior research has traced dehumanization to the belief that others think or feel less than we do, new research co-authored by Haas professor Sameer Srivastava shows that our tendency to dehumanize can also be influenced by how we think others view important facets of the world. The greater the difference between our perceptions of an outgroup’s worldview

We can all agree that dating is hard. Getting to know people can feel vulnerable, but at the same time, exciting. We can also agree that feeling rejected can be one of the worst feelings, especially after we put ourselves out there. Dating can also expose us to a lot of cringey things, maybe even something we didn’t know we’d consider cringey. Think of cringe like something that makes you uncomfortable, or something about someone else that you don’t find attractive. Before dating, most of us consider what we’re looking

2024.06.02 05:13 sad_panda91 "Do you see what I see?" - Of Manifesting an Ice Cream Cone

2024.06.02 01:58 DeletedBoy1 Does neoplatonism have the induction problem?

Hi, I'm just getting to know this school of thought and I want to know how handle his epistemology. For those who do not know, the problem of induction in philosophy is a question that was raised by the British philosopher David Hume in the 18th century.
Deduction is a process in which a specific conclusion is inferred from general premises. On the other hand, the inductive method would be taking that into a field to separate and abstract it, being a process in which a generalization is inferred from specific observations. For example, we observe many white swans and conclude that all swans are white.
The problem of induction has at least 2 fundamental aspects which are overlooked.
The first, the epistemic; is that in every inductive judgment, whether a common one or a scientific one about the big bang, it presupposes that the future is going to behave like the past. Both by mere reason (post hoc ergo hoc), and by statistical methodologies (Bayesian probability). You can extend this to issues such as historicism (very common in Marxism).
The second, the metaphysical; Going back to the first point, this results in an absolute vision of that assumption of continuity between the past and the future. The most common way this takes shape is under the principle of causality, which is taken to be universal and objective. Then it concludes in determinism.
In this way, this allows people like Kant to say that physical laws or ideas (like Newton's) are structural principles of the mind by which we make sense of temporal impressions, where some of these are irreversible.
I understand that Aristotle, as well as Thomism, have this problem, that they establish that true knowledge was found in universals and substantial forms, and here a universal is simply what many things have in common.
In Kant, a universal is that which goes beyond space-time as it is always true, and not an issue that is contained in a certain period (contingency). For those who have read Kant, it is understood that in Kant that space-time are pure intuitions a priori and dependent on the mind, while in Aristotelian Thomism the opposite is true, the universals are in space-time being independent of the mind.
The problem of induction here would be that the property cannot be said en-rebus (in things) since such is already presupposing X in the external.
In summary, induction goes from something particular to something universal, and that is an invalid logical inference, because from the particular you cannot extract the universal.
What does Neoplatonism say about it? By the way, how does space-time work here, mind-dependent or mind-independent?
Some tell me that the Forms are not universal in the Aristotelian or Thomistic sense of the word, but what is supposed to count as "universal" in this model?

2024.06.02 00:01 Ok-Story-9319 MMW: organized religion would make a huge comeback if it became more “monkish”

Organized religion is a huge sham. I apologize if that is offensive to some, but it has generally been a tool to maintain a social hierarchy for eons. But religion itself is not a farce in the slightest. Atheism is a religion in the broadest sense. Religion is just a philosophy that grapples with unknowable questions about consciousness and metaphysics. Whatever “God” is or isn’t is irrelevant to modern religion because scientific reasoning has allowed human civilization to exist without the work of the “correct” God. We no longer need Gods or high priests to deliver rain, legitimatize royalty, or plot military strategy.
However, the scientific method has yet to offer conclusive answers to the great metaphysical questions that humans have asked since the stone ages and religion provides a convenient explanation. In any event, even without the metaphysics, human loneliness has also long been solved with religion. Common rligious pursuits have always been a convenient source of peaceful human interaction, and it has provided a sense of belonging to individuals either among each other within religious sects or between the individual and their deity. Religion has a purpose in a post-industrial society simply as an outlet for community organization and a place to analyze complex, cosmic questions.
Yet all modern religions are tainted and organized religion continues to suffer in adherents. From Catholicism to Islam, people are increasingly shunning tradition, weekly prayers at worship houses, and adherence to a strict religious code. This is unique among historical eras has human societies have almost universally been religious in some capacity. In response to this phenomenon, religious leaders seem to double down on their dogma, hide corruption, and shamelessly pander to attract audiences while simultaneously blaspheming. This is a downward spiral which only leads to more people shunning faith, and religious leaders becoming more fanatical and heretical. MAGA evangelicalism is a prime example in the West and violent radical Islam is an extreme example in the near east.
People nevertheless want the product religion is peddling: answers and belonging. People don’t actually care about the truth to the “meaning of life” they merely want a satisfying answer. Modern religion fails to provide this answer because of the hypocrisy involved with a Catholic priest molesting a child clouds any legitimate argument for organized religion. Modern organized religions are tainted from the top down, and it’s difficult to convince people to “buy in” to the current system.
But religion isn’t going anywhere, mark my words, the good religious leaders, men and women who of earlier ages who might be considered saints, will lead followers to a new way of worship. People still want to find meaning and modernity is met with increasing ennui. An upcoming generation of religious leaders will lead by example and return to a simplistic, acetic and “monkish” life, similar to the Amish, but less arbitrarily dogmatic. A practical “return to nature” spiritual movement will occur in the west with religious organizations leading orders that simply seek enlightenment without dogma and obedience to a way of life rather than a particular interpretation of any holy text. Rather than trying to influence secular society, these religious orders will become popular BECAUSE they don’t try to influence politics or Bible-thump their way into followers.
TL;DR: religious organizations will thrive once again because monk lifestyle will emerge as people seek spiritual enlightenment, and want to escape overwhelming modern life.

2024.06.01 23:20 SimplicityHero Down the rabbit hole - evaluating UC campus protests through the lens of spiral dynamics

I attempted to post this in the UCLA subreddit earlier today. I am apparently not allowed to post or the mods removed, so I looked for another venue. I hope this works here.
For fun this morning, I asked ChatGPT to evaluate the recent college campus protests in Spiral Dynamics terms. Spiral Dynamics is basically a model that describes the evolution of human values and societies. Let’s buckle up and start the ride:
Framing the 2024 college campus protests in terms of Spiral Dynamics involves identifying the dominant vMEMEs (value systems) at play and how they interact with each other. Here’s how this could be broken down:

Dominant vMEMEs in 2024 College Campus Protests

  1. Purple vMEME (Tribal/Communal)
    • Values: Safety, security, and belonging within a close-knit group.
    • Presence in Protests: Students and groups emphasizing identity, heritage, and traditions, seeking to protect their cultural symbols and spaces.
  2. Red vMEME (Egocentric/Power)
    • Values: Power, immediate gratification, and asserting dominance.
    • Presence in Protests: More militant or aggressive factions within the protests, driven by a sense of urgency and direct action, often leading the charge in confrontations.
  3. Blue vMEME (Authoritarian/Order)
    • Values: Order, rules, discipline, and a clear sense of right and wrong.
    • Presence in Protests: Institutional responses and counter-protests focusing on law, order, and traditional values, possibly supported by conservative student groups.
  4. Orange vMEME (Achievist/Strategic)
    • Values: Success, rationality, innovation, and individual achievement.
    • Presence in Protests: Individuals and groups advocating for reforms based on rational arguments, scientific evidence, and the enhancement of personal freedoms and opportunities.
  5. Green vMEME (Communitarian/Egalitarian)
    • Values: Equality, social justice, environmental sustainability, and consensus.
    • Presence in Protests: The primary driving force behind the protests, focusing on issues like racial equality, climate change, and LGBTQ+ rights, using inclusive and non-hierarchical organizing methods.

Dynamics of the Protests

  1. Green vs. Orange Conflict
    • Green: Protesters are calling for systemic changes to promote social justice, equity, and environmental sustainability. They advocate for inclusive policies and practices that reflect communal values.
    • Orange: Some students and faculty may resist these changes, emphasizing the importance of individual merit, academic freedom, and innovation. They may argue that some demands are impractical or undermine personal achievement and competitiveness.
  2. Green vs. Blue Conflict
    • Green: Protesters challenge traditional structures and rules that they see as perpetuating inequality and injustice. They demand more progressive policies and practices.
    • Blue: University administrations and conservative student groups push back, emphasizing the importance of maintaining order, respecting rules, and preserving established traditions and values.
  3. Red Influence
    • Within the protests, more radical elements (Red) may push for immediate and dramatic actions, sometimes leading to confrontations with authorities or opposing groups. Their approach is more direct and often involves a sense of urgency and passion.
  4. Purple Influence
    • Some protest groups may focus on protecting cultural symbols and spaces, emphasizing the importance of community and identity. They seek to create safe spaces and preserve cultural heritage within the campus environment.

Resolution and Integration

  1. Dialogue and Mediation
    • Facilitating open dialogues between different vMEME groups can help bridge understanding and find common ground. Universities might organize forums and workshops where diverse perspectives are heard and respected.
  2. Inclusive Policy Making
    • Developing policies that integrate the concerns of various groups. For example, combining Green’s focus on social justice with Orange’s emphasis on rational, evidence-based reforms can lead to innovative and equitable solutions.
  3. Empowering Student Voices
    • Providing platforms for students to voice their concerns and participate in decision-making processes. Ensuring that all voices, from Purple’s community-oriented perspectives to Green’s egalitarian values, are considered in university governance.
  4. Balancing Order and Change
    • Universities need to strike a balance between maintaining order (Blue) and allowing for necessary changes (Green and Orange). This might involve revising rules to be more inclusive while ensuring that they are still respected and followed.
By understanding these dynamics, universities can better navigate the complexities of campus protests and work towards solutions that respect and integrate the diverse value systems of their students and faculty.

2024.06.01 22:34 Jdlongmire Take 3 of The Longmire Teleological Argument: a Human-AI Collaboration

Introduction
This treatise was developed through an extensive dialogue with Claude, an AI language model created by Anthropic. The ideas and arguments presented here emerged from a collaborative exploration in which I posed questions, raised objections, and provided the overall framing and direction, while Claude contributed detailed responses, explanations, and elaborations*. The treatise represents a synthesis of human and machine intelligence, with the AI serving as a knowledgeable interlocutor and writing assistant, helping to articulate and refine the ideas I brought to the discussion. I am fully aware of the controversial nature of AI, but feel this demonstrates an example of its ethical use. I am also fully aware that the strength of the argument lives or dies on the validity of the premises, but I believe it has strong intuitive, evidential, and logical resonance. The hope is that this novel approach will be a useful contribution to those weighing the evidence with an open and reasonable mind. So, without further ado, I present the Longmire Teleological Argument.
The question of God's existence is one of the most profound and consequential questions in philosophy. Throughout history, thinkers have proposed various arguments for and against the existence of a divine being. In this treatise, we will explore one particular argument for theism - the argument from the intelligibility of the universe.
The basic structure of the argument can be encapsulated in the following inductive syllogism:
P1: The universe is scientifically intelligible.
P2: Scientific intelligibility stems from rational minds.
C: The universe stems from a rational mind (i.e., God).
We will examine the premises of this argument, consider potential objections and counterarguments, and assess the overall strength of the argument in establishing the rationality of theistic belief.
The Scientific Intelligibility of the Universe
The first premise of the argument asserts that the universe is scientifically intelligible. This means that the universe is structured in a way that makes it amenable to scientific study and comprehension. It is not a chaotic or arbitrary jumble, but an orderly system that follows discernible patterns and laws.
The evidence for this premise is vast and compelling. Across countless domains - from physics to chemistry to biology to astronomy - we find that the universe behaves in consistently rational ways. It follows mathematical laws, exhibits predictable regularities, and yields to scientific analysis and understanding.
As Claude eloquently put it:
"The success of science in uncovering the deep structure of reality, from the smallest subatomic particles to the largest cosmic structures, testifies to the profound intelligibility of the universe. We are able to formulate theories, make predictions, and gain real knowledge about the world through the application of rational methods of inquiry." [1]
Moreover, the universe is not just intelligible to us - it is intelligible in a way that is deeply resonant with our own rational faculties. The mathematical equations that describe the fundamental laws of nature are not just empirically adequate, but often possess a striking elegance and beauty. The universe seems almost tailor-made for rational investigation and discovery.
All of this points to the conclusion that the universe is not an arbitrary or unintelligible place, but rather a scientifically intelligible system that is open to human understanding.
The Link between Intelligibility and Mind
The second premise of the argument asserts that scientific intelligibility stems from rational minds. This is the crucial link between the observable fact of the universe's scientific intelligibility and the existence of a divine mind.
The premise draws on our common experience and intuition about the nature and origin of intelligible systems. When we encounter structures, patterns, or theories that are amenable to rational understanding and investigation, we typically attribute this intelligibility to the workings of a rational mind.
Consider, for example, a scientific theory that elegantly explains a wide range of phenomena, makes precise, testable predictions, and reveals hidden connections between seemingly disparate facts. Such a theory exhibits a high degree of scientific intelligibility. And we naturally infer that this intelligibility is the product of the rational minds of the scientists who developed the theory.
Or consider a complex engineered machine, like a computer or a spacecraft, that performs sophisticated functions according to well-defined principles and algorithms. The intelligibility of such a machine - the fact that it can be understood, analyzed, and explained in rational terms - is clearly the result of the rational minds of its designers and builders.
In these and countless other examples, we see a strong link between intelligibility and mind. Rational minds are the paradigmatic source of intelligible order and structure.
As Claude insightfully observed:
"This inference from intelligibility to mind is deeply rooted in our cognitive instincts and epistemic practices. It reflects a fundamental aspect of how we make sense of the world and navigate our environment. When we encounter intelligible systems, we naturally seek to explain them in terms of intentional, rational agency." [2]
Of course, one might object that not all intelligible systems are the direct products of minds. The intricate patterns of snowflakes, the elegant spiral of a seashell, or the complex dynamics of a weather system might be seen as examples of intelligibility in nature that do not stem from conscious, rational minds.
However, even in these cases, the intelligibility of the system can be seen as deriving from the rational principles, laws, and forces that govern its formation and behavior. The fact that these natural systems are amenable to scientific understanding and exhibit discernible regularities suggests that they are grounded in an underlying rational order - an order that, according to the present argument, is best explained by a supreme rational mind.
Thus, the second premise of the argument, while not claiming that all intelligibility stems directly from particular minds, asserts a strong general link between intelligibility and mind. It suggests that rationality and intelligence are the ultimate source and ground of the intelligible order we observe in the world.
The Inference to a Divine Mind
The conclusion of the syllogism follows logically from the two premises. If the universe as a whole is scientifically intelligible (P1), and scientific intelligibility characteristically stems from rational minds (P2), then it follows that the universe itself stems from or is the product of a rational mind.
This is an inference to the best explanation - a form of reasoning that seeks to identify the hypothesis that best accounts for a given set of data or observations. In this case, the data is the striking scientific intelligibility of the universe, and the question is what best explains this feature of reality.
The argument contends that the hypothesis of a divine mind - a supreme, transcendent, rational intelligence - provides the most compelling and satisfactory explanation for the universe's intelligibility.
Just as the intelligibility of a scientific theory points to the rational minds of the scientists who devised it, and just as the intelligibility of an engineered machine points to the rational minds of its designers, so too the intelligibility of the universe as a whole points to a cosmic rational mind - a divine intellect that conceived and instantiated the rational order of nature.
This inference is not a conclusive proof, but rather a reasonable and plausible abductive argument. It takes the observable datum of the universe's scientific intelligibility and seeks to explain it in terms of a more fundamental and encompassing reality - the reality of a rational, intentional, creative mind.
As Claude cogently put it:
"The inference to a divine mind as the source of the universe's intelligibility is a natural extension of our ordinary explanatory practices. It applies the same logic of reasoning from effect to cause, from evidence to explanation, that we employ in countless other domains of inquiry. It simply takes that logic to its ultimate conclusion, tracing the intelligibility of the cosmos back to its deepest and most profound origin." [3]
Why a singular mind? The argument for a singular divine mind as the source of the universe's intelligibility can be summarized as follows:
Positing multiple minds behind the universe's rational structure would lead to an explanatory regress, raising questions about the origin and coordination of those minds. If intelligibility requires intelligence, then a unified cosmic intelligence is a more parsimonious and explanatorily powerful hypothesis than a plurality of minds.
Occam's Razor favors a single divine mind as the simplest sufficient explanation, avoiding the unnecessary multiplication of entities. Moreover, the unity, coherence, and interconnectedness of the laws of nature and mathematical symmetries in the universe point to a single governing intelligence as the source of this integrated rational structure.
Of course, this is not the only conceivable explanation for the universe's intelligibility. Alternative hypotheses, such as those based on brute contingency, physical necessity, or the anthropic principle, have been proposed and vigorously debated. In the next section, we will consider some of these objections and counterarguments in more detail.
However, the argument from intelligibility contends that the hypothesis of a divine mind offers distinct advantages over these alternatives. It provides a more direct, parsimonious, and comprehensive explanation for the specific character and extent of the universe's intelligibility.
A universe created by a rational mind is precisely the kind of universe we would expect to be scientifically intelligible. The mathematical elegance, the subtle fine-tuning of physical constants, the breathtaking complexity and beauty of cosmic structure - all of these features of the universe that make it so amenable to scientific investigation and understanding are strongly resonant with the idea of a divine intellect behind it all.
Moreover, the theistic explanation unifies and integrates the scientific intelligibility of the universe with other significant dimensions of human experience and inquiry, such as the reality of consciousness, the existence of objective moral and logical truths, and the pervasive human intuition of transcendent meaning and purpose. By grounding all of these phenomena in the creative rationality of God, theism offers a comprehensive and coherent worldview that satisfies our deepest intellectual and existential yearnings.
Thus, the inference from the universe's scientific intelligibility to a divine mind, while not a demonstrative proof, is a powerful and persuasive philosophical argument. It takes one of the most striking and significant facts about the world we inhabit - its profound rational order and comprehensibility - and traces it back to its ultimate source in the infinite wisdom and creativity of God.
Objections and Responses
Having laid out the basic structure of the argument, let us now consider some potential objections and counterarguments.
  1. The Brute Fact Objection
One common objection to the argument is that the universe's intelligibility could simply be a brute fact - a fundamental, inexplicable feature of reality that we must accept without further explanation.
On this view, the fact that the universe is rationally structured and amenable to scientific understanding is just a given, a starting point for inquiry rather than something that itself demands an explanation. Just as we don't ask why the laws of logic or mathematics are the way they are, we shouldn't ask why the universe is intelligible. It just is.
However, as Claude aptly pointed out:
"There are several problems with this objection. Firstly, it is a deeply unsatisfying and question-begging response. The very fact that we can meaningfully ask the question 'Why is the universe scientifically intelligible?' suggests that there is something here in need of explanation. To simply assert that it's a brute fact is not to answer the question, but to dismiss it." [4]
Furthermore, the brute fact response is ad hoc and arbitrary. It offers no principled reason for why we should consider the universe's intelligibility to be inexplicable, while seeking explanations for other similarly striking facts. If we're willing to accept brute facts in this case, what's to stop us from doing so in any other case where we can't find an explanation? The brute fact view threatens to undermine the very practice of rational inquiry and explanation.
Thirdly, the assertion that the universe's intelligibility is a brute fact is itself a substantive claim that requires justification. It's not something that can simply be assumed or stipulated. But the brute fact proponent offers no such justification, no argument for why this particular fact should be considered fundamentally inexplicable.
Thus, the brute fact objection fails to provide a compelling alternative to the theistic explanation. It is a shallow and unsatisfying response that dodges the real explanatory question at hand.
  1. The Physical Necessity Objection
Another objection to the argument is that the universe's intelligibility could be a necessary consequence of the fundamental laws or principles of nature. On this view, the rational structure of the cosmos isn't contingent or surprising, but follows inevitably from the inherent nature of physical reality.
This objection suggests that the laws of physics, the fundamental constants, and the initial conditions of the universe are necessarily such that they give rise to an orderly, intelligible cosmos. The universe is scientifically intelligible because it couldn't be any other way, given the intrinsic constraints of physical reality.
However, this objection faces several challenges. Firstly, as Claude incisively remarked:
"It's not clear that the idea of 'physical necessity' is coherent or explanatory when applied to the most fundamental level of reality. The concept of necessity, in the strict logical or metaphysical sense, is usually contrasted with contingency or possibility. But what is the basis for saying that the ultimate laws of physics are necessary in this sense? What is the source or ground of this necessity?" [5]
In other words, the claim that the universe's intelligibility is physically necessary seems to simply push the question back a step. Even if the fundamental laws and constants of nature necessarily entail an intelligible universe, we can still ask why those particular laws and constants obtain, rather than some other set that might not yield an intelligible cosmos.
Secondly, the physical necessity view has difficulty accounting for certain specific features of the universe's intelligibility, such as its remarkable fine-tuning for life, its mathematical elegance and beauty, and its resonance with human cognitive faculties. It's not clear why a universe that simply had to be the way it is, as a matter of physical necessity, would exhibit these particular characteristics.
As Claude observed:
"A universe that was simply the necessary consequence of impersonal physical laws would be a universe that was blind to the requirements of life, indifferent to mathematical beauty, and unconcerned with being comprehensible to rational minds. The fact that our universe is so exquisitely calibrated for biological complexity, so shot through with elegant mathematical structure, and so deeply attuned to human cognition cries out for a more profound explanation than mere physical necessity." [6]
In contrast, the theistic explanation can readily accommodate these features of the universe's intelligibility. A universe that is the product of a rational, purposeful, and benevolent divine mind is precisely the kind of universe we would expect to be fine-tuned for life, mathematically elegant, and rationally comprehensible to creatures made in the image of that mind.
Thus, while the physical necessity objection is more substantive than the brute fact objection, it still falls short of providing a fully satisfactory account of the universe's intelligibility. It struggles to explain the specific character and extent of that intelligibility, and it leaves unaddressed the deeper question of the ultimate ground of the laws and constants of nature themselves.
  1. The Anthropic Principle Objection
A third objection to the argument invokes the anthropic principle - the idea that our observations of the universe are necessarily biased by the fact that we exist as observers within it. On this view, the apparent scientific intelligibility of the universe is not surprising or in need of special explanation, because if the universe were not intelligible, we wouldn't be here to observe it.
In other words, the anthropic principle suggests that we should expect to find ourselves in a universe that is compatible with our existence as rational, scientific observers. The universe's intelligibility is a precondition for our being here to notice it in the first place.
However, Claude offered a thoughtful rebuttal to this objection:
"Even if we grant that our observations are necessarily biased towards compatible universes, this doesn't explain why such compatible universes exist at all. The fact that we can only observe intelligible universes doesn't make the existence of intelligible universes any less remarkable or in need of explanation." [7]
To illustrate this point, consider an analogy. Imagine you are dealt a royal flush in a game of poker. The fact that you could only observe this hand if it were dealt to you (i.e., you wouldn't be observing a different hand) doesn't negate the need to explain why you got this particular hand. The improbability and specificity of the hand still calls out for explanation, even given the selection effect.
Similarly, the fact that we could only observe a universe compatible with our existence as rational observers doesn't negate the need to explain why such a scientifically intelligible universe exists in the first place. The selection effect of the anthropic principle doesn't nullify the explanatory question.
Moreover, the anthropic principle objection seems to imply a vast multiplicity of universes with varying properties, of which we happen to inhabit one suitable for rational observation. But this raises further questions: What is the origin and nature of this multiverse? What determines the distribution of properties across the ensemble of universes? Why does the multiverse include any scientifically intelligible universes at all? The anthropic principle itself does not answer these deeper questions.
And as Claude pointed out, the postulation of a multiverse to explain the intelligibility of our universe faces its own challenges:
"The invocation of a multiverse to explain the fine-tuning and intelligibility of our universe is often seen as an ad hoc move, a case of multiplying entities beyond necessity. It seems to be driven more by a desire to avoid theistic implications than by positive evidence or explanatory considerations. Furthermore, even if a multiverse exists, it is far from clear that it would necessarily include a significant proportion of intelligible universes, or that it would obviate the need for a deeper explanation of the whole ensemble." [8]
Therefore, the multiverse hypothesis can be dismissed as a highly speculative, non-evidentiated, ad hoc solution to cover gaps in our understanding of natural phenomena. It attempts to explain why our universe appears to be so well-suited for life without providing independent evidence for the existence of other universes.
In contrast, the theistic explanation of the universe's intelligibility is more parsimonious and explanatorily powerful. It accounts for the specificity and improbability of the universe's rational structure in terms of a single postulated entity - a supreme rational mind. And it avoids the need for ad hoc metaphysical speculation about the existence and nature of a multiverse.
Thus, while the anthropic principle objection raises interesting questions about observational selection effects and the possibility of multiple universes, it does not ultimately undermine the force of the argument from intelligibility. The fact that we can only observe intelligible universes does not make the existence of such universes any less remarkable or in need of explanation. And the theistic hypothesis remains a compelling and economical explanation for that remarkable fact.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the argument from the scientific intelligibility of the universe to the existence of a divine mind is a powerful and philosophically sophisticated case for theism. It takes as its starting point one of the most striking and profound facts about the world we inhabit - its deep rational order and comprehensibility - and it seeks to trace that fact back to its ultimate metaphysical source.
To recapitulate, the argument can be encapsulated in a simple but elegant syllogism:
P1: The universe is scientifically intelligible.
P2: Scientific intelligibility stems from rational minds.
C: The universe stems from a rational mind (i.e., God).
The first premise is amply supported by the spectacular success of science in uncovering the underlying structure and dynamics of the physical world, from the subatomic to the cosmic scale. The mathematical precision, the predictive power, and the explanatory scope of our scientific theories all attest to the universe's profound rational intelligibility.
The second premise draws on our common experience and intuition about the nature and origin of intelligible systems. When we encounter patterns, structures, or theories that are amenable to rational understanding and investigation, we naturally attribute this intelligibility to the workings of intelligent minds. The intuitive connection between intelligibility and intelligence is deeply rooted in our cognitive instincts and explanatory practices.
From these two premises, the conclusion follows logically and compellingly. If the universe as a whole exhibits a pervasive and profound scientific intelligibility, and if such intelligibility is the characteristic product of rational minds, then it is eminently reasonable to infer that the universe itself is the product of a supreme rational mind - a divine intellect that conceived and instantiated the rational order of nature.
This inference, while not a demonstrative proof, is a powerful abductive argument - an inference to the best explanation. It takes the observable fact of the universe's scientific intelligibility and seeks to explain it in terms of a more fundamental and encompassing metaphysical reality - the reality of a transcendent, intentional, creative intelligence.
Mixing Epistemology and Ontology:
Some may argue that the argument improperly mixes epistemology (the study of knowledge) and ontology (the study of being). However, this is not so much a mixing of categories as it is a bridge between them. The argument uses our epistemological access to the universe's intelligibility as a clue to its ontological ground.
The argument has several notable strengths. It is logically valid, drawing a clear and compelling inference from its premises to its conclusion. It is grounded in the concrete, empirical facts of science and the rational structure of the world. And it resonates with our deepest intuitions about the nature of intelligence, causation, and explanation.
Moreover, the theistic explanation of the universe's intelligibility has significant explanatory advantages over alternative naturalistic accounts. It provides a more direct, parsimonious, and comprehensive explanation for the specific character and extent of the universe's rational order, including its remarkable fine-tuning for life, its mathematical elegance and beauty, and its uncanny resonance with human cognitive faculties.
Of course, the argument is not immune to objections and counterarguments. Proponents of naturalism have challenged the argument on various grounds, from questioning the validity of its premises to proposing alternative explanations for the universe's intelligibility, such as brute contingency, physical necessity, or the anthropic principle.
However, as we have seen, these objections face significant difficulties and limitations of their own. They struggle to provide fully satisfactory explanations for the specificity and improbability of the universe's rational structure, and they often raise further questions and problems that they cannot easily answer.
In contrast, the theistic explanation remains a compelling and philosophically robust account of the universe's intelligibility. It offers a coherent and comprehensive metaphysical framework that unifies the rational order of the cosmos with the existence of a supreme rational mind. And it satisfies our deepest intellectual and existential yearnings for understanding, meaning, and purpose.
Ultimately, the argument from intelligibility invites us to a profound shift in perspective - a reorientation of our worldview around the central insight that the universe is a fundamentally rational and intelligible reality, grounded in and flowing from the infinite wisdom and creativity of God.
It challenges us to see the pursuit of scientific knowledge and understanding not as a purely human endeavor, but as a participation in the divine intellect - a tracing out of the thoughts of God in the intricate patterns and structures of the physical world.
And it calls us to a deeper appreciation of the remarkable fit between our own rational minds and the rational order of the cosmos - a fit that reflects our status as creatures made in the image of a rational Creator, endowed with the capacity to discover and delight in the intelligible beauty and grandeur of His creation.
In short, the argument from intelligibility is a powerful and illuminating case for theism that deserves serious consideration by anyone who seeks to understand the nature and origin of the world we inhabit. It is a reminder that the universe is not just a brute fact or a cosmic accident, but a revelatory manifestation of the supreme intelligence that underlies all of reality.
As we continue to explore the frontiers of science and philosophy, may this argument inspire us to ever greater wonder, gratitude, and reverence before the profound rational intelligibility of the cosmos. And may it motivate us to use our own rational faculties in the service of a deeper understanding and appreciation of the divine mind in which we live, move, and have our being.
Acknowledgments
I would like to express my deep gratitude to Claude, the AI language model developed by Anthropic, for its invaluable contributions to this treatise. Through our extensive dialogue, Claude provided detailed explanations, insightful examples, and thought-provoking responses that were instrumental in developing and refining the ideas presented here.

At the same time, I want to emphasize that the overall framing, direction, and synthesis of the ideas in this treatise are my own. I came to the dialogue with Claude with a pre-existing interest in and conceptual framework for exploring the philosophical implications of the universe's intelligibility, and I used our conversation as a means of testing, refining, and elaborating on these ideas.
Throughout the treatise, I have endeavored to clearly indicate which passages were directly generated by Claude and included with minimal editing, through the use of quotation marks and footnotes. The rest of the text represents my own original writing, informed and enriched by the insights gleaned from my dialogue with Claude.
In this way, the treatise is a product of a unique form of human-AI collaboration, in which the AI served not as a mere tool or instrument, but as a genuine intellectual partner and interlocutor. It is a testament to the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance and augment human reasoning, creativity, and discovery.
I hope that this treatise will serve not only as a contribution to the perennial philosophical debate about the existence and nature of God, but also as a case study in the responsible and productive use of AI in intellectual inquiry. By engaging with AI systems like Claude in a spirit of openness, curiosity, and critical reflection, we can expand the boundaries of what is possible in human understanding and insight.
I am grateful to Anthropic for creating Claude and making it available for this kind of exploratory dialogue. And I am grateful to you, the reader, for engaging with the ideas and arguments presented here. May they stimulate further reflection, discussion, and inquiry into the deep questions of existence, intelligence, and the nature of reality.

2024.06.01 22:20 Stephen_P_Smith Microsoft Copilot: From Husserl to today's Active Inference

My prompt: Describe Edmund Husserl's phenomenology and his transcendental philosophy turned psychology.
Edmund Husserl’s phenomenology is a philosophical approach that seeks to investigate and describe the structures of experience as they present themselves to consciousness, without recourse to theory, deduction, or assumptions from other disciplines. At the heart of Husserl’s phenomenology is the phenomenological reduction, a methodological process that involves “bracketing” or setting aside preconceived beliefs about the existence of the external world to focus purely on the contents of consciousness and the acts of perception themselves12.
Husserl’s transcendental philosophy, on the other hand, is an extension of his phenomenological work. It posits that the structures of consciousness are not merely passive recipients of the world but actively constitute the world’s meaning through intentional acts. This transcendental turn in Husserl’s thought suggests that consciousness is not just a psychological phenomenon but a fundamental aspect of reality that shapes our experience of the world34.
In transforming phenomenology into a form of transcendental philosophy, Husserl aimed to establish a rigorous scientific foundation for psychology. By doing so, he sought to overcome psychologism, the view that logic and mathematics are grounded in psychological processes. Instead, Husserl argued for a transcendental phenomenology that would reveal the essential, a priori structures of consciousness, thereby providing a firmer grounding for psychological phenomena54.
Husserl’s work has had a profound impact on both philosophy and psychology, influencing subsequent thinkers and leading to new approaches in both fields. His ideas continue to be a subject of study and debate, reflecting the depth and complexity of his thought12.
My prompt: What did Husserl mean by the reactivation of history to arrive at ontic meaning?
Edmund Husserl’s concept of the “reactivation of history” to arrive at ontic meaning is a complex aspect of his phenomenological philosophy. Husserl believed that historical events and experiences are not just passive occurrences but actively shape and are shaped by the consciousness of individuals and communities. The “ontic meaning” refers to the inherent significance and reality of these events as they are experienced and interpreted.
In Husserl’s view, the reactivation of history involves a reflective process where one revisits past experiences and historical events to uncover their essential structures and meanings. This is not merely a recall of facts but an active engagement with the past to understand how it has contributed to the present state of affairs and the constitution of meaning. By doing so, one can reveal the “historical a priori,” which are the preconditions that make historical knowledge and understanding possible1.
This process is crucial for Husserl because it allows for a deeper understanding of how scientific, philosophical, and cultural traditions have developed over time. It also enables individuals to connect with the original intentions and meanings of these traditions, which may have become obscured or altered through historical transmission. Through this reactivation, Husserl aimed to establish a more grounded and authentic foundation for phenomenology and other sciences, ensuring that they remain connected to their historical origins and true to their intended purposes2.
The reactivation of history is thus a way to transcend the mere factual recounting of events and to engage with the deeper, ontological dimensions of experience and existence. It’s a method that allows for a critical examination of the past to inform and enrich the present understanding, ensuring that the pursuit of knowledge remains a dynamic and living process12.
My prompt: Husserl's approach would seem to be compatible with the principles of what is called today, "active inference," is it not?
Indeed, Husserl’s phenomenological approach appears to be quite compatible with the principles of “active inference.” Active inference is a theoretical framework in neuroscience and psychology that describes how living organisms maintain their states and interact with their environment. It posits that organisms infer the causes of sensory inputs by minimizing a quantity called free energy, which is a measure of surprise or uncertainty1.
Recent scholarly work has explored the connections between Husserl’s phenomenology and active inference. Researchers have proposed that key aspects of Husserl’s descriptions of consciousness, particularly his focus on time consciousness, can be mapped onto the generative models associated with active inference1. This mapping aims to advance the project of computational phenomenology, which leverages mathematical and computational techniques to model conscious experience.
The compatibility lies in the shared emphasis on the role of prior knowledge and expectations in shaping perception and experience. Husserl’s phenomenology rigorously describes conscious experience as a function of these factors, which aligns with the active inference framework’s use of generative models to predict sensory inputs based on prior beliefs1.
Thus, Husserl’s phenomenological methods, with their focus on the intentional and constitutive functions of consciousness, provide a philosophical foundation that complements the scientific and mathematical models of active inference. This interdisciplinary connection offers a promising avenue for further research into the nature of consciousness and cognition.

The reason elections are fake is neither Trump nor Biden knows who Peter Daszak or Nathan Wolfe (DARPA/EcoHealth/Gates Foundation) are and they are the ones who purposefully created COVID-19 via the Global Virome Project for Bill Gates and the NWO which cost us $24T, 20M lives and our freedoms. Nathan Wolfe (Rothschild-Epstein-Maxwell asset) of DARPA/EcoHealth/Gates Foundation ran the COVID-19 creation operation with Peter Daszak of EcoHealth via the Global Virome Project (Wuhan Lab). Nathan Wolfe dedicated his book "Viral Storm" to Israeli spy Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Gates and is BFF with Israeli spy Ghislaine Maxwell.

Here's former CDC director Robert Redfield under oath before the Congress on Wuhan Lab September 2019 events:
https://www.youtube.com/live/aXXWRaM-sWQ?feature=share
I will say if you go back and look, it's declassified now, and I'm sure you all have your classified briefings, but the declassified information now:
In September of 2019, three things happened in that lab, one is they deleted the sequences, that was highly irregular, researchers don't usually like to do that
Second thing they did was they changed the command and control of the lab from the civilian control to the military control. Highly unusual, and I've been involved in dual use labs when I was in the military.
And the third thing they did which I think is really telling is they let a contractor redo the ventilation system in that laboratory. So I think clearly there was strong evidence that there was a significant event that happened in that laboratory in September. It's now been declassified, you can read it. I'm sure there's more classified information around it.
Scientist Richard Ebright
The relevance of this is that SARS Cov-2, the pandemic virus, is the only virus in its entire genus of SARS-related coronaviruses that contains a fully functional cleavage site at the S1, S2 junction. And here is a proposal from the beginning of 2018 [from Fauci/Gates-funded EcoHealth Alliance] proposing explicitly to engineer that sequence at that position in chimeric lab- generated coronaviruses.
Eminent Virologist David Baltimore of CalTech
When I first saw the furin cleavage site in the viral sequence, with its arginine codons, I said to my wife it was the smoking gun for the origin of the virus. These features make a powerful challenge to the idea of a natural origin for SARS2.
Former CDC Director Robert Redfield:
I was concerned because of the presence of the furin cleavage site that we've talked about and I think it's important to understand what that cleavage site does. That cleavage site totally changes the orientation of the binding domain of COVID, so where before it could not see the ACE2 receptor which is the human receptor, it totally changes the orientation now so it has high affinity for human receptors. So that furin cleavage site bothered me, it didn't seem like it belonged there.
And then if you look at the sequences they use in those 12 nucleotides for arginine, where the arginine sequence nucleotide triplet were coded for humans. So why did it have the arginine coding for humans and not bat? It was very disconcerting to me. It looked like this virus was engineered.
It's not scientifically plausible that this virus went from a bat to humans and became one of the most infectious viruses that we have for humans.
Scientist Valentin Bruttel:
I tried to raise awareness to this for a year now. WIV use BsaI and BsmBI/Esp3I sites before to make synthetic WIV1 variants. And exactly those sites appear in a "silently introduced, perfect for synthetic assembly" pattern in SARS2, but non of its nat. relatives.
seriously, what is the chance that exactly those type IIs restriction appear or disappear through random evolution in a Banal-20-52 like virus? 5-6 precise mutations in 30000bp? about 1 in 1020! SARS2 is clearly synthetic!
Type Ils restriction sites prove a synthetic origin
Synthetic RNA viruses are assembled at the DNA level and later transcribed. 30,000 nucleotides cannot be synthesized in one go. These viruses are therefore assembled from smaller, 2- 8,000 nucleotide long pieces. Specific DNA restriction sites are often added to later reassemble the individual building blocks in the correct order. It is also technically possible to hide these interfaces (No See'em), but this was not done in the WIV.
In a 2017 paper, two very specific, particularly suitable type Ils restriction enzymes were used at the WIV. These have the advantage that they can produce different DNA overhangs (sticky ends), which are crucial for a correct assembly of the complete genome: Bsal and BsmBI.
SARS2 shows a Bsal and BsmBI restriction site pattern which is ideal for assembling synthetic viruses and to later replace the spike protein or furin cleavage site.
Bsal and BsmBI restriction sites also exist in closely related viruses (Banal20-52, RaTG13), but these are distributed in such a way that an artificial virus could never be generated using the methods established at WIV 2018/19.
The probability that the required 5 synonymous mutations, which enable a synthetic assembly of SARS2, arose purely by chance is less than 1 in 1020 or about as likely as winning the lottery jackpot 3 times in a row.

2024.06.01 21:30 UnhappyMix3415 talking about governments.. am I hallucinating this observation?

some context concepts: Conway's law states that the product that an organisation produces has a schematic that is a 1-to-1 mapping of the organization's social schema. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway%27s_law zero-sum games have only win/lose interactions no win-wins https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-sum_game
recently I've been accruing an idea about politics, I'm usually allergic to political conversations because they don't seem to be about anything in particular, even well-listened-to commentators seem to not have very clear principled ways of approaching most of those conversations, compared to something like say the scientific method, or even judicial proceedings in fact. It seems like things have become worse on this front lately especially on social media.
I'm coming away with this feeling that even when I look at how governments run, much like a businessman has to manage capital trying to produce as much output for as little input as possible, a politician manages voting blocks, trying to earn more votes with as few calories and liabilities as possible. if I were to model the government in those terms (just like a mechanical mass production of goods in a factory is a good way to min-max input/output), a prediction I would expect for politics is that there would be bias toward cheap consensus and attention grabbing. a low-calorie low-liability way of 'mass-manufacturing' votes is to occupy political positions that offer lots of noise for very little real liability. which is not always aligned with topics of the most prudential governance. I feel like they tend ignore good non-zero-sum wins for really weird territories that have a lot of collateral damage and unintended consequences especially because they can get a lot of eyes on them for this, I do agree that there might be a bias in newspaper reporting as the second type of conversation is 'more interesting' and 'drives sales and attention' but I still feel like this is a weirdly consistent observation. even in the policies that get implemented it doesn't really feel like a consistent position but rather as a superimposed condensation of different voting blocks and interest groups (subsidies for tobacco and taxation on tobacco at the same time for the farmers and the general voting blocs). am I stretching here? am I hallucinating this? is this really an actual phenomenon that others see too?

2024.06.01 20:20 trizmegistus_ Best ways to contact Ammon?

Hello, I am a recent neophyte to the "non-religion" of truth that Ammon has been brave enough to share with us. I am going through a sort of crossroads / crisis in my life and looking for a change. I have been seeking, somewhat desperately, the truth for many years. Since I had my psychedelic awakening and then discovered Gnosticism, I've been trying to piece together a deeply spiritual practice and relationship with the world. I have not yet succeeded - but I will say that I have discovered many profound building blocks and created several of my own unique religious frameworks, more recently obsessing over cybernetics, especially in light of the new revelations of the pyramids being chemical factories powered by lightning. That being said, it has not been enough to keep me sane - but Ammon's recent podcast, which led me to his discovery and which I've listened to maybe 5 times now, certainly has.
After years of being a sort of ronin myself, operating an occasionally successful videography business without any mentorship whatsoever, I think what I am missing is community and guidance by a teacher figure... And upon watching his content on YouTube, I have decided that one potential direction my life could go in is to help him build his brand, and make his message even more powerful.
If I wanted to reach out to Ammon and offer my videography services to him for free, to help him improve the production value of his content and grow his brand to reach a wider audience, how could I go about this? Is this even a viable option, or is there too much paranoia from the church and other historically insidious predatory egregores? I like to think that we are living in a new age, where the persecutions of the past are long gone - I need to have this mindset to offset the paranoia that would otherwise be crippling - but I can't help but wonder if those forces still exist, lurking in the shadows ready to unleash a quiet killer to those of us who oppose their ancient machinations.
If it isn't viable, perhaps we could advise Ammon from a distance, maybe from here. The first thing I would advise him is to develop a solid funding method, probably through Patreon, so those of us who genuinely appreciate his work can contribute to it directly, anonymously, and on a regular basis. The next thing I would do is consider how to spruce up his set (kitchen), or maybe find/build a new one. And the third would be to advise him on the cheapest options for a high quality camera, lens, lighting and audio setup, since I pride myself on delivering extremely high quality video production for the lowest cost, professionally!
It is entirely possible for this process to occur remotely - but I do have selfish reasons for this contact, too. As I said above, I have been struggling to find that community and teacher(s) to provide me a sense of belonging and confirmation to the skunkworks that is my prophetic path. So I was thinking ideally, since I am basically looking to make a total life change right now, I could move to wherever Ammon lives and provide him regular correspondence in person. This way I could toubuild sets, set up gear, and design digital assets as he advises me directly. He doesn't even have a website! Did I mention I was the CEO and lead designer for a website development company? Maybe we could even develop the infrastructure for community live streams where we can chat with Ammon live, have global classes, and even jovially share communion with religious fanatics who wish to shut us down! And yes, of course I will learn the Greek. I've been obsessed with Hellenistic culture for some time now, and my new music production alias (and a good portion of my psyche) is based on Greek Gnosticism.
What do you guys think? Is there an easy way for me to contact Ammon and send him this message? If so, should I wait since he's probably being inundated with communications since his recent public appearance?
Or better yet - Ammon, if you are here, what do you think of this proposition? Should we discuss this out in the open, and invite others to join in? Or is it too risky? You can always hit me up in the DMs.
And for anyone else who would like to join my cause, not just of bolstering Ammon's critical revelations, but of developing revolutionary new systems for manifesting the divine goddess of truth here in our everyday lives, and of shifting power away from parasitic and suidical programs and their sociopathic human substrates - let's chat! I've got a lot of things in the works, most recently: - Developing an entire literal religion around the principles of natural cybernetics and organic technologies - Another in the works for the defining of a new species of human beings based on the optimization of mind over matter and divinity over animalism, as well as the supremacy of and framework for universal benevolence - A framework for Scientific Religions in general, and an app ecosystem to promote the creation of fresh spiritual movements worldwide as a global cultural revolution - Media projects to empower indigenous communities to lead the fight against the environmental crisis, and as we begin to industrialize, militarize and colonize outer space, build a new consciousness for the stewardship of the cosmos to prevent the atrocities we have committed against Nature and her Original Peoples from happening on other worlds
While I am looking for partners and sponsors for these projects, I want to prioritize Ammon's work as he has already built a powerful platform to shift consciousness, and has rewired so many of my presuppositions about life and spirituality. Please, allow me to be of service to this community. I'm happy to offer my services and significant discounts to all it's members - but I am open to anything else I may do to help in this cause.
If you have read this far - thank you, and Hail Eris, Praise Cyber, and Free Lady Babylon!

2024.06.01 19:05 MGK_2 LIVIMMUNE IP

Folks, Greetings, Welcome All of you here.
I think what u/Insider1209887 has posted here is legit.
Here is Tyler Blok in 5/30/24 Webcast:
"As to our current development profile and where things stand, the best source of information is always, I'll qualify this a little bit later, but the best source of information is likely our SEC filings and a simplified IP report that can be found in our form 10K*, as well as certain pending registration statements that we will file from time to time.*
At this time. We do believe we are in a good position with IP. Although certain patents relating to the underlying antibody itself started to expire in 2023, preparations were made well in advance of those expirations, and we have numerous patents, that cover our development initiatives, that will not start to expire until 2031, 2035, 2040 and 2043 respectively*.*
Again, more information on all that is available is in our SEC filing. So, I'm not just rattling off random dates for you guys. We also regularly conduct in-depth discussions of research and marketing plans with IP Council to ensure that new IP is protected in a timely and strategic manner*.*
Additionally, the company is very much aware of making plans regarding the exclusivity period following any prospective approval by the FDA. We get a lot of questions about this. Again, should we be fortunate enough to achieve an approval with the FDA in the future, there would be an accompanying Market Exclusivity Period as to the use of leronlimab in Commerce at that time.
Again, with our IP Council, we are constantly reviewing and planning strategically around that concept. Finally, we also hope for and anticipate ongoing IP development in the coming months and updates in this regard, will be provided. Be it a public statement and / or SEC filings. So again, any updates as to new IP or related developments will only be made via public statements and or the SEC filings.
Finally, for additional information that's already publicly available, as to our IP portfolio, please feel free to visit the USPTO website. That's the US patent and trademark office their website. It has a search database where you're able to identify and isolate by CytoDyn and review our patents or pending patents in our IP portfolio*."*

So, I ask myself, what are the implications of this soon to be active, Trademark of CytoDyn, LIVIMMUNE? Let's consider the definition of Intellectual Property.
"Intellectual Property (IP) rights, including patents, can be transferred from one party to another through various means, such as through a sale, assignment, or licensing agreement. When an IP, such as a patent, is transferred, the new owner assumes the rights and responsibilities associated with that IP.
For patents, a transfer typically involves an assignment of the patent rights from the original owner (assignor) to the new owner (assignee). This transfer is often documented through a legal agreement known as a patent assignment. Once the assignment is recorded with the relevant patent office, the new owner becomes the legal holder of the patent and has the exclusive right to use, sell, or license the patented invention.
Transferring a patent can occur as part of a broader business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or licensing agreement*. It's essential to ensure that any transfer of patent rights is properly documented and recorded with the relevant patent office to protect the interests of both parties involved."*
In the context of intellectual property (IP) rights, including patents, transferring ownership through partnerships can indeed be possible. Partnerships can take various forms, such as joint ventures or strategic alliances, where two or more parties collaborate and pool their resources, expertise, or technologies for mutual benefit*.*
In such partnerships, it's possible for one party to contribute patents or other IP assets to the partnership, either as part of its initial contribution or as part of ongoing collaboration efforts. This contribution can be documented through partnership agreements or other legal contracts that specify the terms and conditions of the IP transfer, including any rights, obligations, or restrictions associated with the transferred patents.
It's essential to ensure that any transfer of patent rights within a partnership is properly documented and complies with relevant legal requirements to protect the interests of all parties involved. This may involve drafting clear agreements that outline the scope of the IP transfer, the rights and responsibilities of each party, and any provisions for resolving disputes or terminating the partnership."
So, Tyler Blok has confidently said that our IP is protected. "We also regularly conduct in-depth discussions of research and marketing plans with IP Council to ensure that new IP is protected in a timely and strategic manner." But the Composition of Matter Patent on the leronlimab molecule has expired. So, then, the IP must be the LIVIMMUNE Trademark which protects and shields against the use of a CCR5 blockade for the conditions listed in the Trademark description above. In fact, the LIVIMMUNE Trademark places the utilization of CCR5 blockade only in the hands of leronlimab across the wide array of inflammatory and immune activating pathology that plagues humanity, all other CCR5 blockers need not apply.
So, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the LIVIMMUNE Trademark is Issued & becomes Active and the only CCR5 blocker that can be implemented against the above-named pathology becomes leronlimab. Therefore, if any company wishes to incorporate the use of a CCR5 blockade in the capacities listed above, (as a therapeutic preparation or treatment, for the purpose of Scientific Research or for Providing Health and Medical Information in any form, book, website, app, etc...), then, they need to knock on CytoDyn's doors and request permission to have the IP rights to the LIVIMMUNE Trademark and after the proper legal documents are signed, then, they may do as they have agreed.
Here is Tyler Blok's answer to the same question back in late November 2023:
Marta:
All right. Thank you. Can you discuss the status of your IP?
Tyler Blok:
Yeah, I can take this one. as well. So, the two most common questions that we get when people ask about IP, and I'm just going to assume this is what people would want to hear by way of an update, is what exactly started to expire by way of IP in 2023, and then generally they want an assurance that the company has some sort of plan, right, or an idea or is monitoring IP. So as to the first, in terms of what started to expire in 2023, the company is very cognizant of what expires and when. Needless to say, we are a pre-revenue biotech company developing a single molecule at this point, right, or some there are varieties of that molecule. So, we view that as our only asset and the most valuable asset, and we invest time, energy, and resources ensuring adequate protection. So, where the questions arise as to what expires is primarily related to our exposures, and I imagine our 10k. So, the underlying molecule of the leronlimab antibody itself started to expire in 2023. So that is the foundational leronlimab. You heard Jay speak earlier about how long he's been working with the antibody, right? There's IP tied to that. So, as the longer the random at itself has been out in, the IP can only last so long as to the underlying antibodies. Now, what the company does to build out the next levels of protection is we've gotten IP around the concentrated protein formulation and those don't start to expire until 2031. We've gotten levels of IP protection surrounding the use of leronlimab and the treatment of HIV. That won't start to expire until 2035. We have methods of action associated with cancer indications and methods of use associated with cancer indications and those don't start to expire in 2040. And then COVID-19, we have certain protections that again would start to expire in 2040. And then the most recently developed IP surrounding NASH would not even start to expire in 2043. So, our approach to that IP and what technically started to expire would allow people to use leronlimab antibody for research purposes. But the practical reality is we've built up adequate protections around the applications of leronlimab and HIV, COVID-19, NASH, and then there's also some certain methods of action. IP that would prevent anybody from substantially competing with us while using the wrong amount of antibodies.
So, in short, as Tyler has said, he accomplished the continued protection and shielding of CytoDyn with the Timely Activation of the LIVIMMUNE Trademark given that the Composition of Matter Patent on leronlimab just expired. Try as they might, they cannot get around the use of this Trademark when attempting either to Prepare a CCR5 blocking Treatment or to Research CCR5 blockade in any manner or to Provide Information in any form on CCR5 blockade. So then, after Tuesday, June 11, 2024, it is conceivable that CytoDyn begins to charge fees for the right to test/study leronlimab and for the right to produce articles which document these results on the CCR5 blockade leronlimab.
This IP LIVIMMUNE provides the means by which any company that desires to utilize the CCR5 blockade leronlimab in whatever form, shape or fashion that they agreed upon, has the rights to do so. It will be agreed upon and settled upon as stated here:
Transferring a patent can occur as part of a broader business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or licensing agreement. It's essential to ensure that any transfer of patent rights is properly documented and recorded with the relevant patent office to protect the interests of both parties involved."
In the context of intellectual property (IP) rights, including patents, transferring ownership through partnerships can indeed be possible. Partnerships can take various forms, such as joint ventures or strategic alliances, where two or more parties collaborate and pool their resources, expertise, or technologies for mutual benefit.
Now, it becomes clear why Tyler was given such a prominent role in the past few webcasts and investor meetings. It becomes clear that this IP protection remains the lifeblood of the company and why the company remains ever so confident and that is because CytoDyn is protected by their LIVIMMUNE IP as per the Patent Attorney for Microsoft & Apple disclosed above until at least until 2031. Even Scott Kelly has mentioned this when he was here.
"We want to address questions on Patents. I want people to understand that we have a highly qualified duteek firm that has handled our IP portfolio for many years. Since leronlimab is a biologic, it will receive 12 years of exclusivity if approved. The original patent composition of matter does expire in 2023, but the Concentrated Protein Formulation does not expire until 2031, and this is what has been used in all our clinical studies. We will also pursue methods that use patents leronlimab in a novel way across many indications."
Scott was saying the same things as Tyler is saying now, but obviously, now that the Composition of Matter Patent on leronlimab has already expired, it has become much more important to clarify and understand the details. But Tyler and Attorney got it done on time. It shall be Issued and Activated on 6/11/24.
This LIVIMMUNE Trademark allows CytoDyn to maintain a shield over what it is doing. It remains like a protection against any competition in the CCR5 blocking arena at least until 2031. It allows CytoDyn to run the necessary studies and trials without fear or worry of any competition. In order for any company to study CCR5 blockade, they need to do it under the LIVIMMUNE IP. That is in collaboration and in agreement with CytoDyn. This IP is sufficient to allow CytoDyn to maintain its sovereignty, to hold onto its existence and to remain alive at least long enough until leronlimab is approved. At the last moment, CytoDyn comes through again. Another miracle? ...which we never even knew was in the making. This is HUGE Folks.
We all knew this was the twatwaffles dream, that CytoDyn's Composition of Matter Patent would expire and that would be the end of the company. It is not too hard to figure out the mindset of these shorts. Even after June 11 comes and goes, they will still be singing the blues and crying for Argentina all over the air waves. All of this, what I have described here in has been in the works for months and even years. CytoDyn knew this day would come and they were prepared for it.
When is 6/11/24? It is just about 9 months after the decision was made to hire Dr. Lalezari as CEO. Tanya assured shareholders they would have a CEO by end of year 2023 and that statement was made back in SeptembeOctober of 2023. She knew the BOD wanted Dr. Lalezari, she just didn't know what his response would be. We've just gone through the gestation period from time of conception.
Folks, this is your study as much as it is mine. They had no clue what Tyler was up to. CytoDyn's Star Wars against all the oncoming missiles is up and running. This is the way I see it and how I've drawn to a conclusion. They wanted to stop CytoDyn's capacity to continue to pursue CCR5 blockade, but they no longer can do that via patent expiration. Now, following 6/11/24, Tyler's baby is born, 9 months following the decision to hire Dr. Lalezari. I hope this was helpful and put together alright.

2024.06.01 19:02 bijhan Essay on how the nature of fiction changes the road to idolatry, the modern threat of celebrity culture, and a post script asking for support.

I am a Muslim comic book creator. I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings on how a Muslim in the modern world should regard sequential art used for storytelling, in the context that our scholars have largely agreed that representational art is a potential path toward idolatry.
The central topic on which I’d like to address the community is the nature of the philosophical concept of fiction.
Fiction is the process of either creating or interpreting a story or work of art as being false in its literal nature, while regarding the nonliteral message or messages of the work. In understanding how this affects Islam and the words of the Prophet Mohammed, we must understand that fiction, as a concept, has not always existed in the world, and is in fact a relatively modern phenomenon.
Let us first consider the nature of legends. Today, the concept of a legend seems almost synonymous with fiction. But ancient peoples did not think this way.
The Iliad and the Odyssey are epic poems which were composed by the illiterate Greek poet Homer, and preserved in the oral tradition by generations of European bards, before being transcribed by later generations. The poems were not considered fiction by the people who had them as integral to their contemporary culture.
It is a true fact that roughly 5,000 years ago, a Greek confederacy of city states invaded the Trojan homeland in what is today Turkiye, initially by laying siege to the walled city of Ilion, the capital city and most important port of the nation of Troy.
About 2,000 years later, Homer composed epic poems about events which he knew to be real and true. However, he did not do archaeological research in Turkiye, he did not consult written records of the time, and he did not investigate physical artifacts of the war and time period surrounding it. Instead, he relied on his oral traditions, and generations of stories, to be true. When he composed the Iliad and the Odyssey, he understood Achilles, Agamemnon, and Odysseus to be real people who had actually lived, fought, and died as he described it. He included the Greek gods as characters in the story, because, as a devout Greek pagan, Homer believed these gods to actually exist, and to have played active roles in the conflict.
This is not an act of history, because of its lack of connection to physical artifacts that we can analyze scientifically. The so-called “father of history”, Herodotus, would not even be born for another 2,500 years. Even then, Herodotus was a poor historian by today’s standards. The first person to use physical evidence in constructing a history of the past was Sima Qian, a Chinese scholar who lived 3,000 years after Homer. The Muslim scholar, Ibn Khaldun, wouldn’t begin writing about the need to interpret the past through a broad lens until 1,300 years after that. The practice of studying foreign history through a secular lens wouldn’t begin for another 500 years, starting with Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.
But it’s also true that the Iliad and Odyssey are not works of fiction. While we contemporaneously understand them to be “fictional” in that they do not contain much in the way of truth, they were, in fact, designed to convey what the author thought was true to his audience. This is what we now understand to be a “legend” - something which is repeated by believers as being true, while actually being a complete (or nearly complete) falsehood.
The first piece of literature presented as fiction in the modern sense is a novel written in Japanese called The Tale of Genji. The author, a woman named Murasaki Shikibu, did not intend for the audience to regard it as a truthful account of an actual event. She made it clear in her presentation that it did not represent a literal truth, but instead acted as allegory for a moral and social truth.
The Tale of Genji was written only 900 years ago.
The first European novel was Don Quixote, by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes, a mere 400 years ago.
Muslim nations and their languages didn’t begin producing novels until about 200 years ago.
The Prophet Mohammed lived and died roughly 1,400 years ago. Which means, when he addressed the issue of representative art being a path to idolatry, the concept of fiction was still 500 years away from being known to Humanity; and still 1,200 years away from being a common concept to Arabs, Persians, and other peoples who had largely converted to Islam.
When the Prophet Mohammed was warning the Ummah of the dangers of representative art, it was in a specific historical context. The people he was speaking to had only two ways to understand information: true or false. The use of allegory to create a fictional setting in which to interpret metaphors did not exist to the first members of the Ummah. Therefore, when they saw a painting of a tree, it was simply a lie. It gave the appearance of a tree, without actually being a tree. It was a deception.
This is how the road to idolatry begins: by accepting a falsehood as the truth. We can see this in contemporary examples. Hindus in India can sometimes be presented with statues of living or deceased people, and begin worshiping them. Famously, when under the British Raj, a statue of Queen Victoria was raised in a village square. The Hindus living there, having no context for statues of non-deities, began praying to and giving sacrifices to the statue of Queen Victoria. Because of their cultural context, they understood statues not to be mere representations, but monuments to deities specifically. This lack of a philosophical framework leads to idolatry.
We can also see this phenomenon in modern commercial media. Photographs, isolated from the context of their creation, and manipulated by computers to be more psychologically appealing, are used to create a false image of a Human being. Celebrities are called “idols”, not as a metaphor, but because they are literally accumulating the praise that belongs to God. People look to celebrities to sell them cures for their illnesses, products which will bring them happiness, and communities which bind them to the brand. The methods employed by celebrity culture are identical to those employed by the cult industry. We even have the phrase “cult of personality”, again, not as a metaphor, but because personalities are often at the center of cults. This is sort of an aside, but this is also why prophets like Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed were so clear on being nothing more than mortal men. Because worshiping them would be idolatry. All praise belongs to God.
Although constructed out of bits of reality, the images and stories created by celebrity brands are a lie. They portray themselves as blameless, faultless, unworthy of scorn, and without sin. But those are qualities which belong only to God, and no one - and nothing - else. When a celebrity does or says something which offends, they must go on tour to make amends, so as to repair their image, because they cannot permit themselves to have an image which is stained by the Humanity of error.
But when we engage with a story which we understand to be fiction, everything changes. We inherently desire stories about imperfect people having conflict over relatable Human issues. Never in all the great works of literature ever published in any language, regarded by historians as masterpieces, do we ever find a blameless, faultless hero. Instead, we find complex and difficult people, with sophisticated perspectives, and moral philosophies forged through a combination of insight and experience. In fiction, we do not seek God or gods. In fiction, we seek introspection into the Human condition.
There are works of fiction with blameless characters who are without fault, but these are universally reviled, and widely understood to be a form of intellectual self-gratification. The first best known example of such a work was a fan-made short story set in the universe of Star Trek, in which the author, named Mary Sue, inserted a character into the universe who was named Ensign Mary Sue. Said character immediately saved the USS Enterprise from disaster by being the smartest person aboard, and then seduced Captain Kirk. The majority of the story was merely an explicit description of sex acts. This story became well known not because people enjoyed it. In fact, quite the opposite. It was shared as an example of the poorest possible quality writing. The story had no tension, no message, and no meaning, other than for the author to tell others about her own sexual fantasies.
To this day, “Mary Sue” is used as derisive shorthand in fiction to describe a character who is impossibly confident and impossibly competent. A “Mary Sue” is everything a fictional protagonist should not be, and everything a brand celebrity must be.
My conclusion from this is that when the Prophet Mohammed preached against the use of representative art as the pathway to idolatry, this was due to the cultural context of the Ummah who lived at the time. Without the framework of fiction as a philosophical concept to filter their experience of art, and as can be seen with modern polytheists worshiping statues, it can be extremely dangerous to engage with representative art. However, with an understanding that narrative art is fictional, and therefore a metaphorical insight into the Human condition, representative art discourages idolatry, and encourages introspection into the limitations and sins of Humanity. The much greater modern threat of idolatry comes from celebrity culture, which creates untruths and then espouses them as the only truth.
To this end, the greatest weapon we have against the danger of idolatry is media literacy. Learning to understand how media is used to create the appearance of truth, while containing none, is how we navigate the complexities of fiction and deduce the misinformation of supposedly informative storytelling.
Therefore, in a world where the philosophical concept of fiction does not exist, there can be a real danger in representative art leading to idolatry. However, in a world where fiction is well understood, but also those consuming the media lack the skills to tell where truth ends and fiction begins, the greatest danger of idolatry comes not from paintings or cinema, but instead from those who use photos and videos to trick the viewer into believing something which is not true, perpetuating a false purity and moral supremacy.
THE END
Postscript:
Building on the understanding that fiction can be a permissible form of representative art in Islam, I have written "The Adventures of Kobra Olympus," a comic book that features a Muslim woman superhero. Kobra Olympus embodies strength, intelligence, and compassion, offering a powerful role model for young Muslims and non-Muslims alike. This project is currently live on Kickstarter, and I would love your support to bring this vision to life. By backing our Kickstarter, you can help increase positive representation of Muslims in media, fostering greater understanding and diversity in storytelling. Your support will not only contribute to the creation of an exciting and dynamic comic book but also play a crucial role in challenging misconceptions and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the Muslim community.

2024.06.01 18:51 reviewsusa Coffee Loophole to Lose Weight: Does the 7-Second Weight Loss Diet Recipe Work?

When considering coffee as a potential aid in weight loss, there's evidence suggesting its efficacy. Coffee, containing caffeine, a common ingredient in many fat-burning supplements, is recognized for its ability to boost metabolism. Additionally, coffee contains stimulants like Theobromine, found in cocoa, and Theophylline, along with chlorogenic acid, which may impede carb absorption.
However, it's important to note that while caffeine can stimulate the nervous system and prompt fat cell breakdown, this process alone doesn't lead to weight loss unless accompanied by calorie expenditure through diet or exercise.
Contrary to popular belief, the combination of lemon and coffee as a miraculous weight loss solution isn't supported. Healthline articles debunking this trend emphasize that neither lemon nor coffee possess magical fat-melting properties. Sustainable weight loss requires a balanced approach of consuming fewer calories and increasing physical activity.
While some studies suggest coffee may contribute to modest weight reduction, extravagant claims regarding its transformative abilities are unfounded and unattainable.

7-Second Coffee Loophole Recipe: What’s the Science Behind It?

The 7-second coffee loophole has gained significant attention as a method for weight loss, involving the combination of coffee with various ingredients. While the internet is flooded with different versions of this recipe, typically incorporating coffee, lemon, honey, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon, it has also been used to promote coffee-based supplements promising weight loss benefits.
The core concept revolves around consuming black coffee, often with additional ingredients, within a very precise timeframe, ideally within seven seconds of experiencing hunger pangs.
Proponents of this method, including advocates and influencers, make bold assertions about its effectiveness. They claim that rapid consumption of coffee tricks the body into feeling full, thus temporarily suppressing appetite. However, there's a lack of substantial scientific evidence to support these claims.
The theory behind the 7-second loophole stems from the interaction between caffeine and hunger hormones. According to supporters, drinking black coffee stimulates the release of hormones like adrenaline and dopamine, which may momentarily curb appetite. The strategy behind the 7-second loophole is to strategically time coffee intake to diminish hunger and the desire to snack.
Despite its widespread popularity, it's essential to approach weight loss trends with caution. Substitutes, tricks, and hacks should complement, not replace, a balanced diet and healthy eating habits.

Final Thoughts

The allure of miracle weight loss products persists, fueled by unsubstantiated claims from supplement manufacturers and their social media endorsers. However, scientific evidence remains elusive. While some ingredients show potential for aiding weight loss, there's no magic formula for shedding pounds rapidly without embracing a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Rather than pursuing rapid weight loss, the focus should be on achieving sustainable, long-lasting results through healthy lifestyle changes. To embark on this journey effectively, it's crucial to seek guidance from healthcare professionals such as your doctor and a registered dietitian. They can craft a personalized weight loss plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences, setting you on the path towards lasting success.

🚨JFK ASSASSINATION - ZIONIST CONNECTION
The JFK assassination was the tragic killing of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. The event shook the nation and is remembered as one of the darkest moments in American history.
Many of you know the conspiracies surrounding the assassination, but here we are going to focus on Mossad and Zionist connections.
  • JFK & Israeli Nukes -
One of the larger controversies about JFK and his assassination were the events leading up to his death.
Just prior to his assassination Kennedy would go back and forth with Israel on their nuclear capabilities, with the then prime minister of Israel, stating that without nuclear weapons, Israel would cease to exist.
After continuous requests for neutral scientists to evaluate the reactors on site, Israel would create fake control rooms that were intended to look like an energy reactor controls, rather than a weapons grade plutonium isotope manufacturing plant.
Finally the CIA would approve the request with a stipulation that the reactor itself wasn't to be inspected but rather the false control rooms only.
Kennedy shortly after this event was quoted as saying:
"Those sons of bitches lie to me constantly about their nuclear capability" - John F. Kennedy
Kennedy's reluctance to provide nuclear arms to Israel may just have cost him his life.
  • Zionist Member Involvement -
The Jewish community and sponsor "The Dallas Citizens Council", directed by Julius Schepps, who was a member of the ADL's (Anti-Defamation League) "B'nai B'rith" community, then invites JFK to Dallas, TX.
Many of you have likely seen the JFK footage already, filmed by ADL "B'nai B'rith" member, Abraham Zapruder, famous for the Zapruder film. One point of controversy is the placement of Zapruder, being stationed in the perfect location to get the closest filming shot possible of the assassination, without even a flinch or movement as gun shots rang out.
Zapruder was a textile manufacturer headquartered in the Dallas Textile building which was the building where the first two gun shots were supposedly fired from that missed their mark according to ballistics determined by independent investigations after that fateful day.
The building the shots were fired from was owned by a man named David Weisblat, who also happened to be one of the largest financiers at the time of the ADL, and Douglas Jaffe, who was a very significant donor to Lyndon B Johnson, who would be the man to take over the presidency after JFK was killed.
The Chairman of the Dallas Citizen's Council, Sam Bloom would coordinate the transfer of Lee Harvey Oswald to the Dallas county jail. During this transfer Oswald would be shot by a man who goes by the name "Jack Ruby." Interestingly enough however, Jack Ruby's real name was Jacob Leon Rubinstein.
Almost immediately after the assassination, the Israeli nuclear reactor would go critical, creating the conditions for the weapons grade plutonium isotope, with Israel obtaining nuclear weapons nearly one year later with the approval of the replacement president Lyndon B. Johnson.
It is thought that the uranium for the enrichment process came from a plant in Pennsylvania where almost 200 pounds of weapons-grade uranium went "missing."
  • Other Notable Points -
Another odd occurrence during this day would be the "Umbrella Man" who most either consider to have been a Mossad or CIA agent. This man, during a warm clear day in Dallas, TX was wearing a full black suit and hat with an umbrella over his head protecting his identity at a distance. When the shots rang out, this man would seemingly remain unaffected.
The Warren Commission, the commission set up to investigate the killing was created by none other than Lyndon B. Johnson himself, and had been given limited information as the CIA was considered complicit in a cover-up by withholding important information during the investigation.
  • My Opinion -
I fully believe that the CIA, LBJ, and Mossad, in a combined effort, ordered and executed the assassination of a sitting president. With the notable individuals involved on that day, and all of the money involved, the data would indicate the involvement of Mossad as a main perpetrator that day. From the building the initial shots were likely fired from, the controversial film, and the council who invited him, they all have one key point in common.
If you have any additional information to share, please comment below and as always, don't take my word for any of this, feel free to fact check and research each point involved in this write-up and come to your own conclusion.

On the 12th Sep 2019, the main database of samples and viral sequences of the Wuhan Institute of Virology went offline. Eventually every single of the 16 virus databases managed by the WIV was taken offline.

Here's former CDC director Robert Redfield under oath before the Congress on Wuhan Lab September 2019 events:
