20M seeing what's out there

2024.06.02 09:14 Jetblackheart21 20M seeing what's out there

Im from Utah County and non-Mormon, so you can see the obvious fun I have dating /S. I'm not making this a sob story; the real reason I'm posting here is that it feels a bit more personal than most dating apps. I'm a pretty cheerful, confident guy. I can be a massive smartass and yap a lot, but I can have serious conversations and value communication. So, if you need an ear, I'm game, but do expect the same in return. I tend to be out and about a lot, usually doing stupid stuff and trying not to get hurt or in trouble while doing it. Most of the time, I'm a pro, but there are quite a few stories where I fumbled, lol.
I like to work out. I mostly do calisthenics. I'm admittedly fairly skinny but decently toned. I've also taken up running, but I'm not Usain Bolt, lol. I also play video games, mostly military simulation games like Arma and OHD. I also play platformers like Mario and Sonic, with Sonic being my go-to for my neurodivergent self. I'm big into history, mostly WW2 and the Cold War, and some WW1. I'm actually working on making a Cold War-themed board game.
On top of being a nerd, I do have a sensitive side. I know some of you have probably rolled your eyes, but hey, I like to write poems, and I'm a huge flirt when I warm up to someone. I'm looking for a sweet, caring person around my age and preferably living in the USA. I'm not picky, it's more important that we click, you know?

2024.06.02 09:04 Ho11ow08 Overnight Patrol Officer

I do not know who else to talk to so I’ve come to you reddit. Roughly a year ago I graduated from police academy and started my first employment in Scottsdale, AZ. I stayed there for about 6 months and then I was transferred to a station in Pima County, where I has practically the same hours as my previous station. About a week ago is was moved to night shift witch wasn’t too hard to adjust to because I live alone. Most of the time I was parked outside of a waste management facility running plates and doing the occasional speeding ticket. I never really talk to anyone much at the station, I like to clock in get my hours in and go home.
One night I was requested to aid in a car-chase, I was pretty stoked because this had never happened before and felt like I was in an action scene from one in 60 seconds. One of my colleagues set out a spike strip to blow his tires, here’s a link to more info on that: https://www.kold.com/2024/01/19/homicide-suspect-caught-tucson-area/. When I went home later that day I found 2 gunshot wounds to my sternum. I was very confused because I did not feel any injury at all.
I must have had too much to drink before work because I kept seeing really weird things that I still can’t quite put together and no cars on the road. But as soon as I go home I’m just fine. It’s almost as if I leave a part of me behind every time I clock in and pick up a new one. Now every time I leave for work and go to my usual station, alone made you, about halfway through my workday, suddenly I have a partner in my passenger seat. Ive never seen this guy at the office and now he is just randomly cracking jokes in my car. His name tag said Erik Hite, I know that name from somewhere but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Same thing happened every day I went into work, you get used to it after awhile. One distinct feature I connect to him is he is not up to date on most things. He said that he was exited for the release of Iron Man 2 which confused and put me off quite a bit.
I asked around at the office if anyone has seen him around before and all of them ignored me and not even acknowledge me, I don’t know if this is some kind of prank or something and if it is its not a good one. The next day when I went into work I noticed he too, had apparent gunshot wounds. When I asked him about them he was confused at the question and said “what do you mean gunshot wounds? I’m as healthy as I’ve ever been!” I knew that he wasn’t messing with me by the way that he said it. Is he in the same situation as I am but just doesn’t realize the gunshot wounds? Or is he in denial of the whole situation?
Earlier this month is got in contact with someone who claimed to be the wife of Erik, Nohemy Hite. I started talking with her over Facebook about her husband, one thing that really weirded me out was that she always used past tense while talking about her husband. This is all the info I have for people guys right now, I will post an update once I find out more. It would be much appreciated if you good people could do more research on the mysterious people I have cited, since I still have an actual life so and I don’t have much spare time for research. All help is appreciated, until next time and you’re never out of the fight.

RESEARCH SUGGESTS LEADERS’ SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE TAKEN JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS FORMAL STATEMENTS

Over 180 world leaders maintain social media accounts, and some of them issue policy warnings to rivals and the public on these platforms rather than relying on traditional government statements. How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. The research, by MIT political scientists, deploys novel surveys of both the public and experienced foreign policy specialists. “What we find, which is really surprising, across both

SCALE OF ONLINE HARM TO CHILDREN REVEALED IN GLOBAL STUDY

More than 300 million children a year are victims of online sexual exploitation and abuse, research indicates. Pupils in every classroom, in every school, in every country are victims of this hidden pandemic, according to researchers who have conducted the first global estimate of the scale of the crisis. The statistics, from the Childlight Global Child Safety Institute at the University of Edinburgh, amount to a clear and present danger to the world’s children, according to the crime agency Interpol. PRONATALISM IS THE LATEST SILICON VALLEY TREND. WHAT IS IT—AND WHY IS IT DISTURBING?

For Malcolm and Simone Collins, declining birth rates across many developed countries are an existential threat. The solution is to have “tons of kids,” and to use a hyperrational, data-driven approach to guide everything from genetic selection to baby names and day-to-day parenting. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. And a Guardian journalist witnessed Malcolm strike their two-year-old across the face for misbehavior, a parenting style they apparently developed based on watching “tigers

HOW SCIENCE, MATH, AND TECH CAN PROPEL SWIMMERS TO NEW HEIGHTS

One hundred years ago, in the 1924 Paris Olympics, American Johnny Weissmuller won the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 59 seconds. Nearly 100 years later, in the most recent Olympics, the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo, Caeleb Dressel took home the same event with a time that was 12 seconds faster than Weissmuller’s. Swimming times across the board have become much faster over the past century, a result of several factors, including innovations

BANNING SEX CRIME OFFENDERS FROM CHANGING THEIR NAMES DOESN’T MAKE US SAFER

The government of British Columbia recently introduced a bill to ban people convicted of serious offenses from legally changing their name. The proposed amendment to the province’s Name Act would also prohibit those found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder from changing their name. The government announced the move after media reports that Allan Schoenborn legally changed his name to Ken Johnson. Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children in 2010 because of a delusional disorder, and was placed at a psychiatric hospital.

SILICON VALLEY ISN’T THE START-UP UTOPIA WE THOUGHT, RESEARCH FINDS

Silicon Valley—considered the world’s hub of technology and innovation—can breed inequality and sameness among budding entrepreneurs, according to new research. Behind the multi-million-dollar deals and tales of start-up utopia, Silicon Valley’s “uneven” investment landscape is in fact a barrier to many budding businesses, says the study from the University of Stirling and Georg-August-University Göttingen. But the researchers suggest other countries could still learn from the more discerning entrepreneurial ecosystem that bred giants such as Apple and Google, to be more selective in backing start-ups. While it is not uncommon for

I WANT TO KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM ABUSE—BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME I’M DOING IT WRONG

Child sexual abuse is uncomfortable to think about, much less talk about. The idea of an adult engaging in sexual behaviors with a child feels sickening. It’s easiest to believe that it rarely happens, and when it does, that it’s only to children whose parents aren’t protecting them. This belief stayed with me during my early days as a parent. I kept an eye out for creepy men at the playground and was skeptical of men who worked with young children, such as teachers and coaches. When my kids were

CYBERFLASHING IS A FORM OF GENDERED SEXUAL VIOLENCE THAT MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Sexting—sending sexually suggestive or explicit messages and images—is now a widespread practice, and can be a healthy way to express and explore sexuality. However, there is a need to distinguish between consensual sexting and forms of sexual harassment like cyberflashing. Cyberflashing refers to the act of non-consensually sending sexual imagery (like nudes or “dick pics”) to another person. It is facilitated through communications technologies including text, AirDrop and social media applications like Snapchat and Tinder. A strong fear of public speaking is known as glossophobia. Academic studies estimate it affects 20% of the population, but depending on the sample and methodology, the figure could be as high as 40%. As American writer and humourist Mark Twain said, “There are two types of speakers: Those who get nervous and those who are liars.” But help

HOW SOME PRIVATE COMPANIES ARE MARKETING TECH AND AI SOLUTIONS

How do universities and colleges decide who to admit? Given the earnings advantage of a post-secondary degree both globally and in Canada, this is an important social mobility question. While the answer varies from one institution to the next, most focus on education criteria like exam scores and grades. However, Canada’s new intake cap on study permit applications puts increased pressure on Canadian institutions to also consider immigration criteria when admitting international undergraduate students. This is just the latest example of immigration’s growing influence on the societal roles of Canadian

2024.06.02 04:04 Rohlf44 Pending Development

I an a renter and live in King County WA. By pure accident I stumbled upon information regarding the development of the empty lot to the north and east of me.
The developer sent out plot maps to show where the crane will be swinging (over 100% of my house) as well as a shoring tieback easement which will take 5 feet of property on the north side of our home (yard) and 12 feet of property on the east side of the yard.
The owners of the home have been paid AT LEAST 15k for the inconveniences of the impending construction that has no start date but is slated to last a minimum of 2.5 years.
We were not notified of any of this information in any way and we weren’t notified of anything prior to renewing our lease.
What rights if any do we have.

2024.06.02 04:03 Alguien-01 AITA for leaving? Part I

My (22F) ex (25M) never called me "girlfriend." For context, we started flirting in HS senior year (I was 17 and he was 20) and then kissed a couple months after that. I’m not from the USA, and in my country, you have to ask the girl formerly if you can be a couple even if you already kissed each other.
Well, he never asked me, and it was a little bit weird to me. He invited me to his house a lot of times, and I went (we never had intimacy as I made a promise to myself to do it after marriage or with The One). I told him about it, and he understood. He never tried to force me to do it if I was not ready, but I gave him pleasure with my mouth and hands. So, every time I went to his home, I did it, but it felt awful because after doing it, he basically made me leave because he “had something to do." I told him several times that it was making me feel used and like a toy. Also, I asked what we were and what I was to him, and he always answered with the same thing: “You are my *****(I will not say it, as it was personal), but he never ever said that we were a couple, and if I wanted to go on a date, he always refused. We were not allowed to be seen together outside, and the only day that happened was because I went where he was (already outside), and then we left for his home. I know, I was dumb; he was giving me a lot of reasons to leave, but, even though he was not my first "boyfriend,” he became my first love, and I did love him a lot. Every other day he was going to parties, and I’m not a jealous person, so every time he was outside we were chatting, and at the beginning it was ok for me because I was underage and my parents never let me, but it was a never-ending party. I think he wanted to chill out with me but started feeling something else because he told me if we broke up, he was going to drink for days with his brother.
I cannot say he didn’t talk about his past, and I wanted to work on that with him.
Then he went to college in another county. I told him I could go visit, and he refused. Then we were in FaceTime with other friends, and one of my girls told me, “Ask him if he is loyal to you,” which I did ask but not at that moment, and he did not respond at first and then said yes. But I did not feel like he was being honest. Still, I didn’t leave. Well, our communication was decreasing. But I wanted to make every effort for whatever that was.

2024.06.02 00:27 Jetblackheart21 20m [M4NB/F] #Online #USA #Utah dream a little dream of me

As for my values, I'm very liberal and an atheist. You don't have to share my views exactly, but I'm being upfront now to avoid causing issues later. I drink sometimes and don't use drugs. I don't care if you use pot, but anything harder is a no-go zone for me, as my family has some history with addiction. If you want to talk, I'm down to give you my Snap or Discord in DM

2024.06.01 23:19 HRJafael ‘A good, fun party’: Greenfield Records to host ‘Big 15th Anniversary Party’ with 8 local bands, June 8 at Hawks & Reed

Greenfield Records, formerly known as John Doe Jr., will throw a nine-hour live music festival at Hawks & Reed from 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 to celebrate its 15 years of business in the city.
Greenfield Records co-owner Maria Danielson said the “Big 15th Anniversary Party” will host eight musical acts with local ties — Noise Nomads, Stella Kola, The Eye, OLD PAM, Willie Lane, Creative Writing, Big Destiny and Moth’s Frog — in a party equipped with a DJ, food from Cocina Lupita and records for sale. While the record store used to regularly hold live music concerts at its 275 Main St. shop or the sidewalk out front, Danielson said Saturday’s event will serve as the store’s largest event to date.
“Part of what we really want to celebrate is the regulars that have been coming here all these years and also the city itself — we changed our name to Greenfield Records this past summer because we love Greenfield so much,” Danielson said. “All the performers have a local connection, and almost all of them have performed at our store before, so it’s also celebrating friends who have kept us going over the years.”
Danielson and her husband Scott Seward opened the store in 2009 after moving to the city from Martha’s Vineyard. Seward had formerly owned a record store in Philadelphia and was working as a hospital custodian when the couple first moved to Greenfield. Seward and Danielson, both avid music lovers, named the store “John Doe Jr.” as an homage to the John Doe record store in Hudson, New York, owned by Seward’s brother.
Although Danielson and Seward opened a business only a year after The Great Recession of 2008, Danielson said the store saw growth in its customer base each year. While the store initially brought in a regular clientele of record collectors, Danielson said the business, in time, saw a larger, more diverse array of shoppers.
“There’s always — I would almost call them addicts — record collectors,” she said, “so we’ve always had these regular customers over the years, but definitely more people are into it now than there were at the time we opened. More younger people are into it now, which is interesting to see, and we’re also seeing more women come in then than we did it first. Business has just gotten better and better.”
Things took a turn during in the spring of 2020, when businesses across the county shut down at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Danielson said the business initially survived off small business loans from Greenfield Community Savings Bank, and selling records on the online retail record shop Discogs, where she and Seward listed more than 3,000 vinyl records.
“During the pandemic, people shopped differently, but once we could open up again, we’d get one person and it was like the only place they would go besides home was come here and they would spend a lot of time and buy a lot of records,” Danielson said.
The Big 15th Anniversary party is open to all ages. Although at-the-door tickets cost $10 to $20 sliding scale, Danielson said no one will be turned away if they can not pay. All proceeds will go to Hawks & Reed as well as the performers.
“We’re not going to make any money from this. We just want to have a good, fun party,” Danielson said.

2024.06.01 22:42 GamerDrew13 Discussion on Ballot Access for Jill Stein and Cornel West

I thought it would be interesting to have a discussion on ballot access for independent candidates. I'm excluding Libertarians from this discussion because they already have ballot access to every state but a few. I'm also excluding RFK from this discussion because I believe he shouldn't have any trouble with getting on any swing/lean states considering he collected 245,572 signatures for the Texas ballot and 135,000 signatures for the NY ballot, making me confident he'll get enough for the AZ and FL ballots.
In 2020, Biden won AZ by 11,000 votes, GA by 12,000, and WI by 20,000. If Trump had won those three closest states, he would've won reelection. The Green Party wasn't on the ballot in any of those states in 2020, but they're on WI and AZ now. As we know, nearly 100% of the votes West or Stein receive would otherwise be Biden votes if the voter were forced to choose between Trump or Biden. That's why I believe it's important to discuss and track ballot access for the Green Party and Cornel West, because if this is another a close race like 2020 was, these third party splitter votes could be crucial.
I did some research and compiled the following data on what it takes for a candidate to qualify as an independent on the ballot for the swing and lean states. Note that you can get around these signature requirements by registering for a political party in some states- like what West did in NC- but I'm too lazy to look into every state for those specific requirements. There might also be some additional requirements per state, like you need to collect signatures in X% amount of counties, plus a small filing fee, etc.
Swing states:
State Sig. Required Date Due GP on Ballot? West on Ballot? Ballot Access Difficulty
NC 83,000 passed YES YES HARD
NV 10,095 7/5 NO NO MEDIUM
AZ 3% of RV 8/17 YES NO VERY HARD
GA 7,500 8/7 NO NO EASY
PA 5,000 8/7 NO NO EASY
WI 2,000 8/6 YES NO EASY
MI 12,000 7/18 YES NO MEDIUM
NE-2 2,500 8/1 NO NO EASY
Lean States:
State Sig. Required Date Due GP on Ballot? West on Ballot? Ballot Access Difficulty
ME 4,000 8/1 YES NO EASY
NH 3,000 9/4 NO NO EASY
VA 5,000 8/23 NO NO EASY
OH 2,000 8/7 NO NO EASY
MN 2,000 8/20 NO NO EASY
FL 145,040 7/15 YES NO VERY HARD
TX 113,151 passed YES NO VERY HARD
AK 3,614 8/7 NO YES EASY
NM 3,561 6/27 YES NO EASY
Source: https://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_access_for_presidential_candidates
Going from this list, I believe it should be possible for West and Stein to get on every swing and lean state, except for West in Arizona, Florida, and Texas due to their large signature requirements. West was able to collect just over 13,000 signatures across all 100 counties to get on the NC ballot, so I feel confident he should be able to get 12,000 signatures in the muslim-heavy state of Michigan, which should be his biggest challenge of any state on this list aside from the three mentioned earlier.
Additionally, getting on ballots outside of swing/lean states strengthens West's and the Green Party's legitimacy. For reference, in 2020, the Green Party wasn't on the ballot in RI, KY, IN, ND, SD, ID, WY, KS, OK, AD, LA, or MS plus the important swing/lean states of NH, PA, GA, NV, VA, and WI. The more states the Green Party and West are able to get onto, the more their campaigns strengthen, and the more votes they would sap from Biden in the popular vote, if you care about that. Another unknown variable would be the potential for outside funding from Republican donors to accelerate Green Party and West ballot access and campaign reach. West already turned down millions from a Republican megadonor, so the idea is out there.
My question to you guys are do you think West and Stein will be able to make it onto most of the critical state ballots, and how much could they effect the election?

Hello.
Wanted to share why pride month is here and why it means a lot of people. I am not an expert and want to share a bit from myself and observation regarding it.
-Less than 10 years ago, it was illegal for a LGBT people to get married.
"On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage, legalized it in all fifty states, and required states to honor out-of-state same-sex marriage licenses in the case Obergefell v. Hodges." - Wikipedia as it was concise
-Less than 5 years ago, LGBT people could be fired for their orientation.
"On June 15, 2020, the Supreme Court of the United States issued its landmark decision in the case Bostock v. Clayton County,[1] which held that the prohibition against sex discrimination in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII) includes employment discrimination against an individual on the basis of sexual orientation or transgender status."
cite: https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/protections-against-employment-discrimination-based-sexual-orientation-or-gender
So, public "Pride TM" has been a rather new development as it's to help share that these cases do matter to Americans, including people who are allies.
"But it was solved, so why celebrate?" I hear you ask.
Because people in highly powerful positions, such as the Supreme Court want to revoke it like Justice Thomas and even influencers, like Ben Shapiro call for their removal (link is to a video of him saying it, didnt want to download and edit).
"But why give this attention to them instead of the military?"
The military just finished their celebration month. I volunteered with my dad at the VFW and donated to the legion for programs I did as a kid, which just concluded with Memorial Day (Federal Holiday).
I highly encourage learning about all the days here including important dates like D-day or branch birthdays.
"But why are companies shoveling it?"
Companies are allowed to use their own money as they want. Free market allows that and it allows companies like Chic-fil-a to fund projects that harm the LGBT community. They're also allowed to market to groups and do so with data they harvest from your digital footprint. Its a method of capitalism called "Rainbow Capitalism"
I wanted to highlight how we are at a point of history where its not guaranteed that someone who is bisexual wont be attacked for just existing, and how middle school and high school student just in the 2000s were kicked out of their homes for thinking they might be gay.
That's all, Hope you have a lovely Saturday.

The ticket master agent gave him tickets where the players would walk on to the field. 2024.06.01 20:42 Jv1856 How to convince wife to seek treatment? 37M, 32F- 9 yrs.

My(37M) wife (33F), together 9 years, married 4, is struggling, and it’s a bit complex. Divorce is a real possibility for us, and will taint anything I say to her. I want to make sure whatever treatment actions she takes are protected.
About a year ago, she (a nurse in a psych hospital) was attacked by a patient and kicked in the head. She received a concussion and her work handled it horribly. Long story short, she ended up with considerable time off and poor follow up treatment, before finally leaving and getting a new job.
While off on worker’s comp, we racked up a considerable amount of CC debt, and were already working on a previously built up debt that we had gotten out of control.
She has always been a little bipolar (1pt away from a full blown diagnosis by a licensed doctor) and struggled with anxiety and impulse control, not bad, but it was there. However, since the attack, it has been almost crippling for her. She was bawling hysterically frequently about returning to work and even confided she was very depressed. She finally spoke to our doctor who started to treat her with some meds. She was horrible about following through and taking as prescribed, often missing or (I believe) increasing dosage. Nothing she was on was prone to abuse though. She had also missed her period several months in a row and failed both self and prescribed pregnancy tests.
Then we found out she was pregnant. It was a surprise, as we were actually getting diagnostics done where they had prepared us to possibly expect cancer. Through pregnancy, she was actually very good. I thought things were getting better. Certainly a little anxiety about finances, but it was actually a good thing, as it really woke her up to her spending habits and we were able to drastically cut our spend.
The pregnancy wasn’t unwanted, but was unexpected. We had began to think we couldn’t have kids, though never really considered fertility treatment. We had previously discussed her staying home until school-age if we had a kid and it was financially viable. However, in our current state, we would be unable to make ends meet without her working. I thought we were in agreement on this, both worked from home, and would attempt to avoid day care. We are both high earners, but have a lot of debt.
Then about three months ago our son was born. My wife’s labor was a mess, riddled with with preeclampsia, extended labor inducement, and ending with a c section. She was exhausted and had post partem preeclampsia too.
We got out of the hospital finally, and have basically had family staying with us since, between her parents or my dad.
As soon as her mom got here, she started pressuring me to agree for her to stay home and quit her job. I said if she could figure out a budget I would, but I don’t see a way. She through out bankruptcy, credit counseling, going to 1 car. I already had liquidated 401k to get out of her highest interest rate cards and like I said, her spend was now under control. But I just don’t see a way to make that happen.
She has been really irradic lately and has unilaterally extended her maternity leave without pay. She went ahead and took a new job that is weekends only and pays a little less, so that she can spend more time with the kid.
As part of our reduced spending, we moved to a much cheaper rent in the county. It’s in the worst school district/crime area, but still in a HCOLA area and above average, just the worst in the county.
During the move, her mom has been up to help watch the kid. In reality, my wife and her hang out most of the time. She will unpack a box here or there, but it’s been a month and still a mess. No cleaning is happening.
I have been doing all of the groceries, cooking, errands, moving the boxes, yard work. I understand she has issues going on, but I just can’t do this solo anymore. I am also taking the kid when he wakes up around 530a until her mom or her gets up, usually around 1000. My wife does take his midnight-0200 feeding and lay him down. I am also working full time, it’s WFH and I am fortunate to have pushed off a lot of projects, but it’s soon crunch time for me. I have avg 4 hours of sleep.
I am concerned, because things just are continuing to get worse. She takes great care of the kid, but I feel like she is neglecting so much responsibility. She thinks I am the AH for not blindly agreeing for her to not work. She has told me she has suicidal ideation and recently admitted to being fully suicidal prior to the pregnancy, then said with the kid, she would never go that route now, but just the other day when faced with her return to work date, made a reference about potentially killing herself. She denies that now.
She says she has post partem and the only thing that will work is her not worki. I have told her we can’t afford it but if she is getting treatment by a pro, and following their advice and that advice is to stay home while she continues treatment, I’ll figure out how to make it work.
The problem is, she isn’t pursuing any sort of treatment. She is incredibly smart, and will tell people what they want to hear. With the attack, she had a legitimate big lawsuit to pursue, got a lawyer, but really didn’t follow any treatment plans from the psychiatrist or lawyer. I let it go, as they were admittedly playing things up for a lawsuit, but they weren’t all wrong either.
Her mom is all sort of diagnosed mental illnesses and also a master at manipulating diagnosis to get whatever pill she wants. I fear her influence on my wife. She also encourages her to not work and the impulsive spending. I am terrified my wife will go down this path.
My wife has been threatening divorce and says me wanting to get her help is just to get out of child support . Prior to the injury, we were struggling already but working through it. The aforementioned debt, stale sex life, porn- normalish things for 9-yr relationship. I won’t say they were perfect, but they weren’t impending doom and we worked the problem.
I need her to understand that I think a lot of this is unhealthy and she is ill. If she I truly getting treatment, we may be able to save the relationship, don’t even know if we would want to honestly, but things are to the point I am not convinced that with out me there to pick up the slack, she would be able to fully take care of the kid. When she is sleepy, she just shuts down. We made it one night with breast feeding before she said it was too tiring. If she has slept less than 5 hours, she will wait until I get the baby, even if I had like an hour. I have chalked a lot of it up to birth recovery, but it’s only getting worse.
If I knew she was stable and getting real treatment, I wouldn’t ever use that against her. At the same time, current state, I don’t trust my son to the care if I am not there. I think a child needs his mom more than his dad at this age and want him to have both, but not like this.
Her mom I think is part of the problem too, because she will comment about how much I do and is complimentary, but also doesn’t curb my wife when she is neglecting things. She is in a tough spot, but I think we are to the point where wife needs a reality check.
I am open to feedback on my actions, but don’t need any disparaging commentary on her or her family please. My sole interest is getting her into a mental state that I can trust to do what it takes for our kid.
The only thing I can think of is a 72 hold and force to her to get cleared by a doctor, but i am 1) not confident we are there, 2) not confident she wouldn’t mask it with her background, and 3) it would absolutely kill any chance at fixing things. 4) I’d prefer there to not be a legal record of her treatment, for her sake. Things could well end in divorce, we both see it as at least a possibility, and she is smart enough to understand potential implications.

2024.06.01 19:54 PhoenixDawn1980 [Tenant US - PA] Abusive Landlord

I've worked hard to avoid abusive relationships in my life, to the point of avoiding dating at all, only to find myself trapped in an abusive situation with my landlord.
For context, I am recently disabled, I was able to work and paid my rent on time (more or less) for the first 2 1/2 years I lived here. Then I got sick (I won't go into it, I have multiple chronic illnesses and struggle with pain, vertigo and fatigue) so I can't work anymore. I'm single, no kids and only 44. So I don't qualify for a lot of assistance out there. in PA if you want to get unemployment, you have to be able to accept any job offered you and I can't do that so I can't get unemployment. My family is unwilling/unable to financially support me and i'm 5 hours from them so there's nowhere to go. I'm stuck here until disability is approved and I have the funds to move (and if you know anything about disability in america, it takes YEARS)
I rent a 3 bedroom row house in allegheny county, PA. Since I have the spare rooms, I sublet them in order to keep the rent paid and the utilities on. This is fully legal, since I am still living in the house as well and my landlord has no issue with that. The problem is that he is extremely abrasive, and won't fix anything. My bathroom is located on the second floor above the kitchen, and since the landlord did a poor diy job of plumbing the house (it's backwards, the toilet fills with hot water) at some point the toilet started to leak into the space between the bathroom floor and the kitchen ceiling. I was not aware this was happening until a hole opened up in the plaster and raw sewage started dripping onto my kitchen cabinets.
It took my landlord a WEEK to fix the leak, and at that time he asserted that the toilet broke because I'm too fat to sit on it. (I'm not THAT fat) Personally, I think the leak had more to do with scalding hot water from the water heater corroding the connections in the pipes and melting the wax ring beneath the toilet but what do I know? He did eventually fix the leak, but he hasn't done anything about the hole in my kitchen ceiling which is full of mold and heaven only knows what else.
Another recent incident happened when he wanted the lawn mowed, but my guy who usually handles it refused because it was raining (perfectly reasonable), so the landlord demanded i that go in the yard and cut it with scissors if I have to.
I'm just so tired of living with the constant verbal abuse and threats from him. He knows I have no where to go so he hangs eviction over my head if I'm even a day late on the rent. I'm already physically unwell, constantly exhausted and now I have a panic attack every time my phone rings. I've reached out to various resources, but wait lists for section 8 are years long and any action i take against my landlord will result in immediate reprisal.
Any ideas for how I can expedite my exit from this house? I just want to leave and be done with him. I have 3 cats that I cannot abandon, so we need a place we can go together.
