2024.06.02 10:59 GaimeGuy Terrified of losing job/public trust clearance...

work for a federal contractor on civilian government projects as a software engineer. Just celebrated my 15 year service anniversary at this job, including my college internship.
Employer wanted me to move to 50/50 time between the current contract and another contract. Had to redo an SF-85P I guess because it's been so long since I previously did one, and this is a different federal contract, so it retriggers the process.
Admitted to starting on/off use of Delta-9 THC gummies from hemp in early 2023, after it had been legal for a few years in both my state and at the federal level (2018 Farm Bill for products less than 0.3% THC), thinking it was all okay, but wanting to be as open and transparent as possible. Got told that there was an issue with my application that could potentially cause problems, was sent a drug questionnaire and a letter of inquiry.
I've responded to the letter of inquiry (have to resubmit the questionnaire on Monday b/c the PDF I was sent didn't have digital signature form fields and a few others). I talked with the officer handling my application over the phone and she basically said:
"It's legal, but it's in an unregulated state, and since drug tests can't differentiate between the 0.3%, federal employees and contractors... we're just not allowed to do it. And this comes up all the time, I have coworkers who have been caught off guard by this too. It's clear to me that you're a very honest person, and that you thought you were doing something okay, and that you can stop. Just respond to the questionnaire, restate what you did on the original application, and we'll get this squared away"
So, although she was reassuring, I'm a worrier. It's currently 3:50 AM on Sunday and I'm lying awake in bed, terrified that I might be deemed unsuitable, and wind up losing the job/career I love, the only job I've had since graduating from college in my early 20s. I pledged in my LOI response to no longer use these products, that I had mistakenly believed their legality to mean they were allowed in private as long as they were not abused or in a way that would otherwise interfere with any aspects of my life, and that I never would have tried them out had I understood this.
I can't sleep. I almost had a panic attack yesterday afternoon. I'm not sure how to deal with the stress, and I can't stop beating myself up mentally over this.
Any advice?

2024.06.02 10:50 thealphabetarmygirl Is my EAD enough to get a state ID?

Hi! I have an appointment on Thursday to apply for a state ID, and the website says my work authorization card is enough to prove my identity. But I was told that before and it ended up not being true because apparently that’s not good enough for opening a bank account. That’s wild to me because it’s a US-issued document with my legal name, birth date, and photo, but whatever. What was your experience like? I have been here on humanitarian parole for almost two months now.

2024.06.02 10:40 Frequent-Ad-42 was i unlawfully arrested?

TL/DR
i was taken into custody by federal agents and processed for a suspected DWI without giving any signs that i could have been intoxicated, and after passing all field sobriety tests.
is what they did unlawful and if so, what are my options for recourse?
In early 2020, I was taking a nap in my parked car across from my at the time girlfriends apt waiting for her to get home. This was within the boundary of the Presidio (an ex-military base turned National Park in San Francisco, CA. Think of the area surrounding the southern entrance/exit of the Golden Gate Bridge). The engine was off, and it was the middle of the day. Suddenly, a United States Park Police Officer (federal police) knocked on my window, requesting that I open my door. She then made me get out of my vehicle and began interrogating me under suspicion of DWI because I was asleep in my car. During the search, she found a small amount of heroin in my pocket. She proceeded to spend the next 30 minutes administering every field sobriety test she could think of, which I passed without a hitch. In my opinion and observation, she even seemed to make up her own sobriety test on the spot, and I passed that one as well. Despite passing all the tests, I was taken into custody by this U.S. Park Police Officer. Meanwhile, my dog, who was with me in the car, was taken to Animal Care and Control (the pound) as my car was impounded. They wouldn’t allow anyone, not even my brother who was just 10 minutes away, to retrieve her. The officer said the arrest was for suspected DWI, even though I was completely sober the entire time.
After giving the blood sample at the San Francisco County Jail, I was taken to the U.S. Park Police SF Field Office, where my mugshot was photographed, and I was fingerprinted. I remained detained in a cell by myself for several hours until a detective arrived to speak with me and investigate as to whether I was a drug dealer or not. To the best of my knowledge, I have never been involved as a drug dealer. After an hour-long investigation, they released me, leaving me stranded without no way to get to my car on the complete opposite side of town and unable to reach my dog. The paperwork I received for my dog informed me that if I didn’t pick her up within two days, she might be put up for adoption or euthanized. Being a Pit-Bull, I assumed the latter. Since that release day, I haven’t heard a single word from the U.S. Park Police. I assumed they would send me a court notice, but nothing has arrived.
My question now: Were the actions taken by the officer within her rights and therefore what they did to me legal? Is what they did to my dog legal? Did they make any mistakes during the process, and if so, what options are there for me to seek some sort of compensation? The car impound alone was nearly $3,000 that i went into debt for in order to pay.

Do I have the legal grounds to dispute the new terms and pay my current rental rate for the next term since they failed to inform us before May 1st? (My lease ends June 30, we got the letter May 28)

2024.06.02 09:38 lauraintacoma Trouble Getting Applicants to Follow the Posting Requirement

I recently posted a job on LinkedIn today. My first time. I'm not a recruiter, just a small creative business. We got almost 100 applicants in the first day, but not one of them followed the "Additional Requirements" section that asked for a two to three paragraph cover letter and writing sample attached to their resume via "Easy Apply". Is this fairly normal? Should we not be asking for additional requirements or are job seekers just applying to everything without reading the whole job posting?

2024.06.02 09:32 EmptyImagination4 how afraid are narcs of retaliation by their victims?

hey guys,
My former narc landlord and I are in a legal confrontation (no lawyers yet involved) after me moving out. First, I sent him a letter explaining he's breaking our moving-out agreement (he wants to keep my rent deposit over faulty damages) and let's talk. No response. Second, I sent him a polite letter explaining he has potential additional problems with data protection, building code, criminal law and renters law and his legal professions guidelines as a doctor, but I did not threaten retaliation only said let's find a good solution for both of us. No response for 3.5 weeks.
Now we called a few days ago he was quite heavily guilt tripping, gaslighting and accusing me again. Question: It seems he already has forgotten about that letter from 3.5 weeks ago or is not worried at all for retaliation?
Is it because my letter and our call did not contain any clear consequences and where friendly? Because he historically always takes advantage unless there are clear-cut consequences? Or because I didn't mention reporting him to authorities in my letter, so he doesn't know it's on my mind? Or because I did'nt follow through on any threats so far and he thinks I'm just bluffing? Or because he thinks he did nothing wrong, but my allegations are wrong?

2024.06.02 09:28 ThrowRAgaybestie I 20 M want to call my family out for body shaming my sister 20 F?

So I, a 20 M, have a sister who's the same age. So to give you guys some background, we both were adopted in the early 2000's. Our adoptive mother, passed away in 2016 and our aunt/uncle became our legal guardians. Every since we were little, we've attended almost every family event. As we got older and time passed there were some comments made about my sisters body. Most of the time it was about her either being too skinny or gaining more weight than she should for her age.
Last Christmas, there was a comment made that my sister "needed to eat more" which came from my cousin's sister in laws husband. Now he himself is a bit on the chubby side and yet made that comment. I wanted to say something but I didn't. I would like to tell my sister that these comments have been happening, but usually when I or someone tells her someone said something about her, she tends to not talk to the person who told her. What should I do in this case to not cause drama within my family so this doesn't happen to anyone else including her?

2024.06.02 09:02 Chef00797 HLA ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE PROGRAM HELP

So I have this assignment on strings in HLA is honestly a bit complicated to understand being such a low-level language. These are the program instructions: Write an HLA Assembly language program that implements the following function:
procedure strlen( baseStringAddress: dword ); u/nodisplay; u/noframe;
This function should return in AL the number of characters in the string parameter, passed by its base address. Here is a sample program dialogue: Feed Me: asdfasdf The String You Entered: asdfasdf Has Length = 8
NOW THAT IS NOT ALL WE HAVE TO USE THE FOLLOWING IMPLEMENTATION:
String I/O Routines
In effect to assist you in working with strings, I authored the function "gets" and the procedure "puts". As you can see from the example above, gets is used to read a string, while puts is used to write a string. These routines support the following syntax:
Each routine needs to be passed a nicely allocated and null-terminated string by sending its base address (that is, index 0 of the array). In addition, gets takes a second parameter which tells it how many characters it can legally ramm into the array before it overwrites its allocated size.
Both of these routines are provided in the file: cs17string.hla. By stating in your program,
I HAVE WORKED THIS IN C LANGUAGE AND I AM ABLE TO RUN THIS PROBLEM WITH NO ISSUES, THE ISSUE COMES WHEN I TRY TO WRITE IN HLA, IT BECOMES TOO MUCH AND I GET LOST. IF SOME ONE COULD HELPP THAT WOULD BE APPRECIATED. C CODE:

include

include // For the strlen() function

int main() {
char userInput[256]; // Array to store the input string
printf("Feed Me: "); // Prompt the user for input
fgets(userInput, 256, stdin); // Read the input string (including spaces)
// Remove the newline character added by fgets()
userInput[strcspn(userInput, "\n")] = 0;
printf("The String You Entered: %s\n", userInput); // Echo the input
// Use strlen() function to get the length
int length = strlen(userInput);
printf("Has Length = %d\n", length);
return 0;
}

2024.06.02 08:32 Minimum-Currency-685 There's a missing check. I never cashed it. I never owe my name on it. It was given to me by a customer. Should I report it stolen?

So I work as a waitress and somebody gave me a check for $100. Me and my ESO went out for a last night out for the summer because we're not going out again till probably around Halloween. We have a lot of kids and they were all in the house when we got back. I was a little tipsy and I don't know where it went. A couple at work who have waited on a couple of times gave it to me. They did it as a gesture of Goodwill but they didn't know how to spell my name so they left it blank and put for "good service" on the check. I'm a little worried about it at this point because it was strange I've never gotten a check as a tip in the seven or eight years I've been a waitress, and because they asked me not to I didn't tell anybody. I've just been carrying it around in my wallet. So I didn't catch the check. They gave it to me like 2 weeks ago. I never wrote my name on it and I just carried it around. Sometime either while I was out or while I was at home the check disappeared. I never wrote down the lady's name I was going to write her a thank you letter but I haven't had a chance to go to the store to buy a card. We never took a picture of the check. It was clearly written with her address on it. I don't know which one of my customers it actually was I was really busy that day and I work a lot. So a does the check actually exist or is it Schrodinger's check? And if it does exist am I legally obligated to report it is stolen? (even though I'm not sure which customer gave it to me, and not even my work knows I have it because I was just kind of carrying it around is a good look totem?) and there is a chance that somebody just stole it because there was people over at my house I have teenagers they have friends.... I'm very stressed out right now. So my question is should I reported stolen. And if I do how do I do that

2024.06.02 08:16 Various_Grass_2118 Found Out Husband Has Been Receiving Child Support And Has Been Using It For His Alcoholism Through A Secret Account

I 33(f) have been married to my husband 39(m) for 6 years. I will call him Eric. Eric had a child (Ted) from a previous relationship and we also share another. We have been together for 12 years.
When we met I was an extreme party girl (21) who loved liquor and Eric was a daily beer drinker at home long before I came along. I did not see it for what it really was at the time.
He had his son (Ted) 50% of the time. Because of me, Eric and I essentially lived a double life for the first 6 months we were together. When Ted was at his moms I would go to parties with my friends and bring Eric every weekend and sometimes once during the week.
6 months into our relationship I was in a dnd accident which was my fault. Through that process I found AA and met amazing people and tried to get Eric to come with me. Our relationship was getting more toxic so I broke things off 2.5 months after my dnd accident. A few weeks later my step-father suddenly passed away traumatically. He was the one parent who didn't abuse me and was ever present. I almost immediately reached out to Eric.
Over the next year, we had a newborn. A couple years later, Ted's mom had overdosed on heroin but was revived and sent away to rehab. We had him full time for 3 years.
Shortly after Ted's mom was back in the picture (Eric and I were already married by this time) we found out that we were going to be stuck with a 44k debt of hers that Eric had co-signed on when they were still together. Our shared account was zeroed out on multiple occasions when we were pinching pennies to save up for a house. Eric somehow made it go away despite lawyers turning us down and Eric never gave me a real answer on what happened with it. Eventually we got a house. Our forever home.
Years later I am asked to sign documents to account for all income we receive as a couple. We were both to sign the documents. The document asked if we received child support, so I asked him knowing full well years ago he told me she stopped paying years before that. He reluctantly said yes and also reluctantly gave me the amount paid. Also saying the money almost immediately went to Ted's moms 44k debt. We were not in a position to talk deeply about it at that exact time. But noted it. I was asked to provide proof.
After a month of begging for the paperwork and offering simple solutions that were turned down. On the very last day we needed the paperwork I was given it. When I saw it, the math was not making sense. In asking probing questions and repeating them til I got a direct answer he accidentally let it slip that what money isn't going to the unpaid debt is going into his account he uses for his alcoholism and marijuana (legal in our state).
The only account I knew of was our shared account and the separate account I have in my name (that he knows of) to protect our savings from getting pulled in fear of our account getting zeroed out again due to the 44k unpaid debt. He then tried to backtrack.
I went completely catatonic. I see money go out of our shared account from his drinking and cigarettes and pulling money for what I assume is for his Marijuana. It did cross my mind sometimes the money (which was a lot) still never seemed to add up to how much drinking and smoking I saw happen which was always a problem.
I feel nothing. I'm hurt but not in the intensity I should be. I know I should be angry, I know this is a HUGE act of betreyal. I found out only 24 hrs ago. I'm terrified for my future. I pity him.
I am having him write me a letter confessing everything, what I already know and what I don't know. I'm also having him write in it why he did it and why I should stay with him because I am at a loss.
I am questioning my entire life choices now but it still feels like I'm in a dream. I have no idea if it will be enough. I'm afraid of losing my self respect, but I'm also afraid to leave, and leave Ted behind.

2024.06.02 08:13 JMelonPop DSP Rejected

Hello, I’m the friend of someone above 60 yet not at pension age, whose eyesight is poor due to diabetes, yet stable due to ongoing treatment. They’re unable to support themselves without another person to assist them— they can’t read well nor go anywhere alone, and I’ve been helping them as much as I can. Not only do they have very poor eyesight, but due to a previous cardiac arrest during Covid, they also have poor endurance in day to day activities and had to leave their job because of it and go on Jobseeker. Currently they’re being monitored by their ophthalmologist, cardiologist and GP. At the start of the year, after around 3 years of submitting medical exemption notices to Centrelink, their treating professionals suggested that they submit the DSP since they’re not going to be in working condition for the foreseeable future, even with lifelong treatment. We collected all the evidence we could from the treating health professionals and submitted. We periodically called Centrelink to continue extending the medical exemption and eventually an officer called to collect more insights into how their eyesight was faring and how treatment was looking (around 4 months after the claim was submitted). The appointment seemed to go well and they told us that Sonic Health would call within a month’s time. Unfortunately Sonic Health never called and we recently received notification that the DSP has been rejected and we “would receive a letter” as to why, not sure how long that will take.
Are they supposed to keep doing medical exemptions via Jobseeker? They wouldn’t have considered DSP if they had any other option. I’ve considered that we go directly to a Centrelink office to see what’s going on, but will that do anything?

2024.06.02 07:56 roses-and-sadness At the end of my migraine rope

So as of yesterday I have had a migraine for 6 weeks.
My regular medications (Ubrelvy and Maxalt) have stopped being effective. I've even given them a break for a few days as someone recommended rebound migraines.
My primary care gave me an IM of Toradol, two weeks worth of Qulipta, and two sample bottles of Advil dual action before saying there is nothing else she can do.
I went to the ER and got a migraine cocktail that helped for all of about 3 hours.
I've called my neurologist to see about getting my appointment moved up from the 27th of June but I could probably find the needle in the haystack before they get back to me, despite always telling me to "call and move up my appointment if my migraines increase". I'd have a better chance at winning the lottery than getting them to answer the phone.
So I don't really want to go back to the ER, but my appointment with my neuro is still over 3 weeks away and, at this point, I just have absolutely no clue what to do until then.
If anyone has any suggestions, please comment them, as long as they are not ice packs in a cold, dark room.

2024.06.02 07:51 kpopfanjeff Car got towed. Owner is out of the country.

Hi,
I’m seeking legal advice for my little sister. My sister got her car towed from a parking lot. My sister attempted to get the car back from the towing company, but the towing company is not allowing her to take the car back unless the owner of the car is there. The owner of the car is our father, which he is currently vacationing in another country. The owner of the car can’t get back to country due to being in motorcycle accident. The towing company has sent a letter to us that they’ll place a lien on the car. Is there any way for us to obtain the car and possibly stop the lien from happening? They told us we can got a notarization but the owner is bedridden and can’t go to United States Consulate.

2024.06.02 07:17 Pure_Anywhere8002 Don't quite know what's happening, hex/curse? Your thoughts?

Thank you so much to this community! I've been chatting with a few folks via DM and we've been sharing stories and tips and tricks and it's been so fun!
this was a peculiar thing and I wanted to ask manifestors what you think about this.
So my SP situation, love him, there's been some movement (rather lack of) in terms of his divorce but I'm persisting and believing etc. For context, wife does not love him but wants to stay married for $.
Today though... was intense on an energetic/spiritual level. I'm a pretty spiritual person and believe in the spiritual dimensions/realms. Past lives, guardian angels, divinity, etc.
I think a hex was placed on me today!
This is where I don't know if I've deeply subconsciously manifested this, cuz it's literally not on my mind at all, nor have I ever even thought to do this - I'm not into Magick, I've never explored it, though oddly enough, one of the people I've been chatting with told me about this stuff like earlier today, after all this happened. It was kinda crazy coincidence/synch so I don't shy away from this is all part of my bridge of incidents.
I am absolutely certain except this has NEVER happened to me before that someone placed a hex on me, and I think it's the 3p.. who will be leaving shortly in the legal way. Now, In my manifesting sense I am like "all is working out in my favor, including this" ... but this was energy I couldn't deny. I was in a state of internal unrest for a few hours today and it was an indescribable feeling that I've had a similar intense experience with months ago but it wasn't a hex.
I started doing things i would never do. I wrote up a prank text saying "I'm pregnant" and another text as if I was going to send it to his ex detailing our relationship and messing things up for him in the divorce proceedings. 2 things I would never think to do nor send and as I was writing it out all I kept saying was "this isn't me, this isn't normal, this is not me", it was almost parasitic.
I literally have never done this before and I put on a hex clearing music video and within 2 minutes it was like a lightswitch and I turned back to normal within seconds and just went up and started doing my regular stuff.
In the "background" of this energetic experience.. I heard what i can only say was definitely the wifes voice who i never met screaming bloody murder "fck you you btch" and also the voice of what i think was a psychic or some sort of medium saying "pure is protected, they have more spiritual protection than anyone I've ever seen in my life. This won't work, it's (the hex) coming back to us"
I have had clairaudient experiences before in my life, tons of them actually, that's what led me to this manifestation subreddit group back in January.
I think all of it is real.. my experiences are out of this world abnormal and so I'm not sure how to handle this.
Any insight here on whats going on? Can spiritual realms play here?
This is actually doubling down on my belief that I'm getting what I want so it's not messing with my manifestation for my relationship. I have a very close relationship and understanding of the Divine creative source and negative energies that try to pull me off my path. This is one of many, but extra peculiar because it was my first hex/curse.
There are parts of me that feels absolutely bonkers for saying any of this.. and also I know what i felt.
Guidance, advice, feedback would be great.. i don't really know what this is.

2024.06.02 07:07 Flat-Assignment5155 2 children that are 2

So me and my bf who is a little older than me have been dating for a few months and within the first few weeks I found out he has a daughter. I was mad he didn't tell me but we worked things out. We'll he has a friend who also has a kid where the mom is a drunk and the dad is on drugs and he wants to become the kids legal guardian if anything happens. Mind you he is fresh out of hs and I'm not, I'm okay with being a mom to his daughter but another kid? And ik it's horrible and the kid shouldn't have to go into the system but I don't think I can handle that responsibility especially since I'm not over how I was raised. So like I don't know how to react here or what I'm looking for this, I guess I just need someone to tell because no one around me will really listen
