2024.05.28 15:07 Ilrustybaba Ok for a jew to travel to Egypt?

My friend is gonna be in Egypt and wants me to come visit her for a little while in El Alamein. Would it be safe for me to go? I don’t wear a kippah or anything but I have a tattoo on my arm of a hamsa with Hebrew lettering.

Hi all! Looking for friends or something more, so don’t be afraid to reach out!
I am a 30-year-old Jewish woman residing about an hour outside of Boston. I’m monogamous and heterosexual!
I am a social worker and I work with psychiatric hospital patients! I really enjoy my job and definitely have some interesting experiences and stories to share. I also like to think that being a social worker has increased my empathy and understanding for others experiences.
I have a cat who is my baby and am looking to adopt a dog as well!
My favorite weekend plans are being a couch potato, reading, and then having an edible while watching a movie and eating snacks. I love Harry Potter and LOTR in addition to trashy TV. I used to do a lot of horseback riding, I still love horses, and I also love board games, Nintendo Switch, watching football, and food (I’m a baker but terrible cook unfortunately).
I am not particularly religious outside of major holidays but I am very much a proud Zionist.
I do have some ear piercings and a hamsa tattoo as well! I’m overweight (but working on it) with blue eyes and brown hair.
Hope to make some new friends soon! :)

2024.04.10 18:42 Serendipic_Epiphany Question about tattoos

Hello all, I’m still fairly new to Buddhism so I’m not 100% knowledgeable on this subject yet. I know that for the most part, tattoos are fine and acceptable, just not if it’s a tattoo of Buddha because that is seen as disrespectful. My question is, does that apply to all symbols of Buddhism, or just the Buddha himself? Would it be disrespectful to get a tattoo of a hamsa or a lotus? Thanks in advance. :)

2024.02.10 00:31 Amf101021 I’ve wanted a hamsa hand tattoo but I’m worried if it’s disrespectful

Quick backstory I have hand a hands hand necklace for over 10 years now and I wear it everywhere and every day. I’m not affiliated with any specific religion and I’ve done a ton of research on the origins of the hand and how it’s used in different religions and the meaning it gives me basically (long version short) is to treat others with respect and the love you want to see in the world. I really want to get it tattooed but would that be crossing a respect line?

2024.01.16 22:19 SavingsRepulsive What would I do with my chestpiece?

What would I do with my chestpiece?
I want some advice on my chestpiece and what I should do with it.
First of all I love the tattoo, I just wish I would’ve gotten it in black and grey.
Soo I got the colored side done when I was about younger. Still love the tattoo just wish I wouldn’t have done it in color. I want your advice as to what you think of having one side colored and one side black and grey.
All my tattoos are black and grey, at the green dot I’m planning on getting an Om (hindhuism/buddhism) and at the orange dot a hamsa hand. I got some mandala’s on my sleeve and am planning to use mandala to fill everything up aswell. (Later when I got most of my upper body covered)
Do you think this would look good with the one colored tattoo aswell or do you think I need to cover it/laser it and get something else?
What do you guys think of how it looks now? (With one chest colored and one black and grey)
Give me your brutally honest opinion about my ideas and what I should do with the colored tattoo. Love to hear you guy’s opinions

2023.12.07 19:28 amig00s Could you tattoo the protective eye amulet?

Instead of wearing it everyday could I just tattoo somewhere in my flesh the eye of hamsa or the eye of Horus? I didn’t believe that much in things like that but the past time is so much weird shit happening to me I definitely need to step up with protective charms, any more tips or help I would be very grateful to hear. Thanks Love

New tattoo, Hamsa (Hand of Miriam), 9rl
Pretty much what it says in the title. This is my first stick-and-poke that wasn't just dot work. I finished the outline yesterday, and am going to fill it in with a design one of these days. But yeah, it's by no means perfect, but I'm proud of and happy with it anyway. I think I did pretty well for a first try at an outline.

2023.08.20 03:34 pixipanicgirl Tattoo linked to trauma

The males on my dad's side have a tradition of getting a small spider tattoo on their wrist
For a bit of context... I am a 21-year-old female and my father and I have not spoken in 13 years, I have 3 other tattoo pieces and I have ideas such as a peacock (my spirit animal), hand of hamsa, or sacred heart. I do plan on sporadically tattooing each idea.
The dilemma I am having is whether or not to execute the spider tattoo, I have yet to formulate an opinion if it would symbolize a "f*ck you" and empowerment move or if I'd come to regret it. I made this post to seek opinions (I understand it is solely my own that truly matters) and/or personal stories.

2023.08.18 14:27 itamaru Would love to get an hamsa hand as my first tattoo

Hi all, i would love to get an hamsa hand tattoo facing downward with an eye/evil eye. Not too sure about the patterns/design but want it to be quite elegant with finer lines. The place i'm looking to get the tattoo is the inside or outside of my ankle. And is it possible to incoporate the sharingan in the eye?

Fresh vs. 10 years
I really enjoy seeing everyone’s aged tattoos, and I just came across a photo of my freshly done hamsa and realized it’s been a whole decade since I got it. It was done by an apprentice who was actually one of my friends when I was a teenager. I moved countries not long after I got the tattoo so never got a chance to show him how nicely it settled in. Thanks for looking :)

2023.05.08 03:57 RoosterEarly7283 Shout out to the managers.

Throwaway account to keep our location private, but long time redditor. I just witnessed the most professional and graceful behavior from our GM.
She said I could post this on Reddit. Our GM is a 30ish year old female who has a Hispanic last name. She is the daughter of an immigrant but adopted and white and speaks fluent Spanish. Not that any of this should matter at all. She is Jewish and has a hamsa tattoo. Anyways, this horrific couple was in my section and causing me a lot of problems so I asked her to touch the table. Long story short…
She approached the table and they called her a “kike” which is basically the equivalent of the N word for Jewish people after seeing her tattoo. They then asked her for her full name so they could write a Yelp review. She told them her name and they proceeded to say “you’re too white to be a wetback”.
She had their food boxed off the line and delivered it to their table and politely asked them to leave, letting them know she had taken care of their ticket and to kindly fuck off. She tipped me 30% of their cost out of petty cash.
Honestly, I would have lost my shit. Shout out to all the managers out there who put up with all the shit we don’t want to deal with. But for real, what in the fuck is wrong with people?

2023.04.30 08:18 PrinceRoyal444 Looking to get tattoos of important things and moments (CW: potential distressing topics)

Before reading! There are slight mentions of Abuse, SA, addiction, and mental health issues!
So, before I get comments from people here that dislike me: Tattoos are not a priority, I’m just getting designs so that when things are better for me and my family, I can have something to show my chosen artist for an idea.
I can answer questions here or in dms about the designs/ideas
As a person with a lot of trauma, struggles, and things that I probably shouldn’t deal with at my age, I want to have some important things to me as tattoos or something similar. I have struggled through things like Physical, mental, and emotional abuse, SA, Addiction, and many suicide attempts just to name a few things that have happened in the last few years before I have even turned 18 (Most before even 16) I have many things that have shaped me to be who I am today, and I want to remember the things I have overcome in a positive aspect.
I’m thinking of either multiple tattoos or some that combine ideas, either one is fine and i’m open to suggestions for basic ideas or drawn tattoos (don’t wanna limit people)
The tattoos can be symbols, quotes, images, etc.
Some of the things I want to remembeget tattoos fogeneral ideas: •Surviving SA (Medusa tattoo iirc, happened 3 times) •Surviving mental health struggles and life ending attempts (Semi-colon) •Physical, Mental, or Emotional abuse survivor (Sometimes represented by a Phoenix) •Addiction survivor (Sometimes represented by butterfly) •Important dates to me (Can be roman numerals, heartbeats with date, date and a clock, name with date, etc.) •Something for my Cherokee Heritage •Evil eye or Hamsa (Power and control, wisdom, certain gods, Protection, etc.) •Anchor (Strength, stability, loyalty)
