2024.06.02 07:02 Immediate_Report_316 form filling GOOD or BAD

form filling GOOD or BAD
What is form filling? - form filling is a way to enter a buyer giveaway via filling out a form on whatnots website , entering you into a buyer giveaway.
Honest opinion - Form filling is okay , and doesn’t take away from the actual buyers. Let me explain.
For one , it’s legal. Yes yes I know , “it’s legal” well it is , and if you don’t like the laws go re-write them! Be my guest! Form filling doesn’t take away from buyers because 9 times out of 10 , a buyer usually wins. Form fillers are just an inconvenience , that’s all. Is it wrong to potentially take away from buyers? No, because EVERYONE should have a chance. Not just buyers!
Should you send a form filler their win? -
Yes , you should. Be the better person! Don’t be an immoral jackass and switch up their prize , because what did they do wrong? at the end of the day… nothing! send it and go on about your day , it isn’t worth the strike you may get!
Should you break all of whatnots TOS trying so eagerly to have one of your buyers win?
No! Don’t be a rule breaker , so what if your buyer doesn’t win. That’s okay! They’ll have another chance next time!

2024.06.02 06:48 TrickyAvogado Mother blames me for everything that went wrong.

I recently posted about my father... I'm now posting about my mother. I'm not sure what to feel about the parents lottery.
My mother used to be a housewife when my father was still around. When my father abandoned us, my mother has no choice but to work for their family business. She never worked a day in her life before. Her family is fairly rich... they have multiple commercial and residential properties. One of which was gifted to my mom after she got married.
When I was still young. My mother will shout at me, hit me, and anything for whatever reason. One of the pettiest is when I brought out chicken, but she wants pork. She never told me her choice but thought that I should be able to read her mind. Yes, I got a beating with slippers just because of that.
When I started applying for university, she tore all of the filled-up application form if I did not follow what she wants. I eventually was able to go to university with a degree of my choice only because my Uncle forced my mother to agree. I became an Accountant. However, basically every week, my mother keeps on asking me when I will fail out or transfer courses to what she wants.
Once I graduated accountancy, I applied for law school. My mother, again, refused to let me to go law school. It was again my Uncle who forced her to, by saying he will pay for my tuition if my mother refused to pay. Please note that tuition money is not a problem at this time. Again, basically every week, my mother keeps on asking me when I will stop studying.
I eventually graduated and became a lawyer. I got a job in the top law firms in the country. Again, my mother keeps on asking me when I will stop working.
Since I am a lawyer, I should know the law.. and should know how to do transactions, such as sale of properties and litigation. This is also the time when my family is having some problems due to their failing businesses and my cousins who cannot do sh...t. I have cousins who never graduated high school but are considered as the best since they follow everything their parents want them to do... unlike me.
5 years ago, they asked me to transfer a property between relatives. This is a approx 2,000 sqm property within the heart of Metro Manila. This property is co-owned by 5 siblings but everyone sold it to 1 sibling. And that 1 sibling is residing there. I gave them a quotation on how much the government fees and taxes will be. I will be getting ZERO professional fees even though I will draft all the documentation and the legwork. They refused and the property remained under the name of the 5 siblings.... or so we thought. One day, when everyone was out of the house due to work/school/whatever, some thugs broke into the property and claiming ownership of the property. They brought a certified true copy of a title showing that the owner of the property is the nephew of the 1 sibling. It appears that one of the siblings forged the signatures and "sold" it to his kid. Now, that 1 sibling who lived there got forcefully evicted.
They asked me what to do. I said, file a criminal case for forgery. Of course they refused. Now, my mother is blaming me on the lost property and even accused ME of formenting problems within the family because I recommended litigation. They never accused the brother who stole it because "he only did it because "I" gave a high price to transfer it." wow...
2 years ago, they asked me to transfer a property between relatives. I gave them a quotation on how much the government fees and taxes will be. Again, I will be getting ZERO professional fees even though I will draft all the documentation and the legwork. My quotation is proper under the law, BUT! I got a mouthful of abuse since they deemed it too expensive. This is already beyond my control so I refused. They got another lawyer who quoted a total price of half of mine, with professional fees. After it was paid in full, the lawyer disappeared. Now, my mother blaming me on the lost money because I cannot match the lower price.. I can't match it because I am not a fraud and I have my name on the line.
For now, I got married and moved out. My mom even tried to stop the wedding until the night before the wedding. But of course, I made sure she did not pay for a single cent on the wedding (except for her gown), and the wedding pushed through. Oh, she left halfway through the wedding because she is already sleepy. At least my father who abandoned me stayed until the end.
My in-laws are nothing but the best. I think I won the in-laws lottery, but lost the parents lottery. But that's a story for another time.

2024.06.02 06:15 Worried_Ad_8545 Just don’t understand

First off want to start that this is not a shit post. I’m not looking to piss people off by making a post that isn’t remotely close to being highly strange however I do and would very much appreciate some insight into what has been going on in my life.
First, I want to add this has been happening to me since I was a child.
Second, perhaps this is a form of deja vu but it truly doesn’t feel like it.
Third, here’s the story:
A few months ago I had a dream that I would start work at a new place. My dream included the name of the place, where it was located, and how it looked. Whenever I have oddly specific dreams I write them down. I understand that this seems completely normal. However 2 weeks ago I applied to my company’s internal job posting application. You don’t necessarily get a say on which location you are assigned to as it’s based on where they need you. Whatever, no big deal, nothing to think twice about. 1 week ago, I get an email and you guessed it I got offered a job at the same place I dreamt about.
I have never EVER been to this location before. Never seen it, never even went near it. You could imagine how I felt when I crossed reference with my journal. Anyway, I’ve been there now a few days and every minute I’m there I’m constantly feeling like I’m in a haze like state, like I can’t think straight, I’m really dizzy, feel nauseous and have a headache. The building is on the older side but doesn’t have asbestos because no joke I thought I was experiencing symptoms and I even spoke to the health inspector of the property (they looked at me like I was crazy).
Like I mentioned, things like this have happened to me many times since childhood. It’s nothing MAJOR though like I know the winning lottery numbers. I’m shaken up about it because it’s starting to mess with me when I’m trying to sleep. I become worried that I’m going to have one of these dreams and maybe it’ll be a bad one. I don’t see apparitions and I can’t communicate with anything other worldly but I do experience things like this and lately always feel like somethings staring at me. EVERYWHERE I GO.
Does anyone have or care to share some insight? Do you REALLY think it’s Deja vu? Like I said I’ve never ever been to this location, truthfully didn’t know this building existed, don’t know anyone who went, is, or has ever been here and am not even extremely familiar with its geographical location aside from a few main roads in the town. Again, I know you may not deem this post highly strange but this is a very real thing that is happening to me. I have seen mental health professionals and have been evaluated in my life and do not have a diagnosis either. If you are about to leave a nasty comment about this being a shit post please don’t. I’m truly looking for guidance or advice.
Thank you.

2024.06.02 06:04 Different_Week_96 Just left the Urgent Care ER from a PA out of nowhere 😔

Just left the Urgent Care ER from a PA out of nowhere 😔
Title says it all. Woke up this morning with a headache and a queasy stomach. Nothing 2 tylenols couldn't fix. Laid in bed until about 1pm, got up and chilled around the house finally feeling fine. Had a yogurt and coffee with my multivitamin and fish oil, proceeded to go about my day.
Around 7:15pm, my gf and decided to get something to eat since we hadn't eaten all day so I got a cool wrap from chick fil a. My stomach immediately told me after 2 bites I couldn't finish it. I got up from the table because I started feeling a little panic-y so I went to the bathroom and noticed my heart rate beginning to increase. Trying to do deep breathing exercises, I started feeling more loopy/lightheaded so I went to my car to think maybe it was my PTSD and I was overwhelmed. Nope it got worse to where my gf had to drive. We planned on hurrying back to my house which was 30 mins away to get my hydroxyzine but everything began getting worse as I was driving so we decided to go to a nearby Urgent Care ER.
What I was experiencing: Increased heart rate upwards of 145 bpm, dry mouth, hands and feet tingling, nauseous/faint, panicking to where I dialed 911 saying I need help to my gf... but my gf hung up quick enough for it to connect and we decided to go to a nearby hospital. Luckily, no chest pains. But everything just felt out of my control.
Got there, front desk lady immediately asks if I'm normally pale in the face - my response was "Hell no!" I get to the room and laid in the bed. Vitals came back really elevated as everything was still going on. High blood pressure, high heart rate, excellent oxygen level, cold feet, nausea, slight confusion, fast breathing, etc. After asking additional questions like if I've taken anything today, smoked, vaped, drank alcohol, etc. They then grabbed an EKG machine to check everything out with my heart. After that was done, they came in and gave me a 1mg injection of Ativan and zofran for the nausea. Within 20 minutes, everything started slowing down but still felt panicky. My stomach started aching like hunger pains.. felt nauseas, etc. They came back in and said my EKG showed 98 bpm and was clear. After about an hour, they checked vitals and everything came back down.. BP was 120/80, HR was raining between 90-105, oxygen at 100, and I just started feeling the ability to breathe normally.
Now I'm home. They prescribed me (10) .5mg Xanax as needed and told me to work with my PCP which I see Monday. Kind of still feel a little loopy but they said it could be from the Ativan.
What a night. 😰

    • Explore the challenges and conflicts faced by the protagonist, both externally (e.g., encounters with government authorities) and internally (e.g., the struggle to confront their identity).
  3. Deep Introspection:
    • Prompt the protagonist to reflect deeply on the uncomfortable subjects that the government's erasure of personal narratives seeks to suppress. These could include topics such as individuality, memory, trauma, and the power of storytelling as a tool for empathy and resistance.
    • Encourage the protagonist to evolve their thoughts and perceptions throughout the narrative, considering the consequences of silence and the potential for personal growth through self-expression and sharing.
  4. Requirements for Responses:
    • Conduct research to explore real-world examples of societies that suppress personal narratives or attempt to erase collective memory.
  5. Prompt: In a post-apocalyptic world, a devastating pandemic has wiped out most of humanity. The survivors are forced to live in isolated communities, each with its own set of strict rules and customs. Write a short story or reflective essay exploring the life of a character who questions the existing order and embarks on a journey to unite these fragmented communities. Consider the role of unity, diversity, and collaboration in rebuilding a shattered world.
  6. Prompt: Set in a future where advanced AI technology has permeated every aspect of society, write a story or reflective essay following a protagonist who begins to question the boundaries between human and machine. Delve into the ethical implications of human-AI relationships, the erosion of human emotions, and the potential consequences of blurring the line between artificial and genuine experiences.
  7. Prompt: Imagine a world where climate change and environmental degradation have irreversibly altered the planet. Write a story or reflective essay from the perspective of a character who is part of a group striving to restore balance and heal the damaged Earth. Explore the connections between personal responsibility, collective action, and the intersections of social and environmental justice.
  8. Prompt: Transport yourself to a society where strict social hierarchies are based on a person's genetic makeup. 2024.06.02 05:58 fthrly How do I permanently keep furfrou a certain trim using the PKHEX "batch editor" tool?

Does Anyone know how to permanently keep furfrou a certain trim using the PKHEX "batch editor" tool?
I've been trying to get furfrou in "star" ands "kabuki" trims as a permanent haircut. I've been trying to follow the rules on the pkhex "how to" section, but i seem to keep having the same issue of the 5 day window which turns furfrou back into the normal trim.
Per the pkhex, I was using this code set up:
=Slot=6 (the slot of where my furfrou is in the game)
.Species=676 (furfrou's dex #)
.Form=2 (the form I'm trying to have "star")
.FormArgument=5 (i'm assuming this is how many days the form lasts?)
.FormArgumentRemain=5 (i was assuming this is the code to keep it at 5 days so that it wont dwindle down to 0 and go back to the natural state)
.PID=$shiny (shiny type)
--------------
From what pkhex states, the formargument code should be in reference too furfrou's trim cycle, so if i can permanently keep it at 5 then it wouldn't go back.
reference from their website below:
Using this variable will change the form of a Pokemon to the desired form (If applicable). Please Note: I only include the first 3 ID numbers as an example, but for Pokemon like Unown, you will be able to go all the way up to the ID number 27 (28 total Unown forms) etc... The ID numbers are as follows: 0 = Pokemon's "normal" form 1 = Pokemon's First alternate form 2 = Pokemon's Second Alternate form etc Note:
Usage of FormArgument may be required for some mons, and FormArgument usage can differ based on species, For example, Alcremie uses values written there to denote the decorations (strawberry, ribbon etc) Runerigus uses it to denote how much damage it received before evolution Furfrou and Hoopa Unbound denotes how many days left before the forms reverts.
Is anyone abe to assist in seeing where i'm going wrong?
Note: Im using CITRA for my 3ds emulator.

2024.06.02 05:51 MrPlaza03 Search Indexing refuses to turn on

Search Indexing refuses to turn on
Hello
The title says it all, but i'll add more detail
For the past several months I have been having an issue with Windows 11 where Search Indexing is turned off, It didn't bother me too much at first but as time went on it started to get really irritating, depending on how large a file is, it can either take a long time to open, or it will not open at all and crash file explorer, and when I try going to Indexing Options and rebuilding the index, it does absolutely nothing

Even after rebuilding the index, nothing happens at all
I tried following several help forums to see if there was a way to fix this, I Tried running "Sfc /scannow" and "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" both commands did nothing, even though Sfc /scannow stated "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." It would still not fix Search Indexing; I also tried going to Services and trying to start "Windows Search" however attempting to do so would give me "Windows could not start the Windows Search service on Local Computer" as well as "Error 15: The system cannot find the drive specified"
The error in question
And whenever I try going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Searching Windows, The Settings tab will Collapse and Automatically close itself.
Next when I try using Windows Troubleshooter by going to Indexing Options > Advanced > Troubleshoot search and indexing, It tells me "Windows Search Service not running" and doesn't fix it, which like shown earlier, I can't turn Windows Search service on because it says it can't find the drive specified
The message it gives me
And lastly, one forum recommended to use Microsoft's "Indexer Diagnostics" which I cannot do because Microsoft has Removed the application from their Store
The tool in question, as you can see, removed and cannot be downloaded
Overall I am posting this as a final hope that i'll be able to fix Windows Search Indexing.
Any form of Feedback is appreciated

2024.06.02 05:50 Adventurous-Relief88 retaining in jc was the best thing that happened to me (in retrospect)

(and also how my teachers and friends saved my ass so many times🫶)
TL;DR at the end
NOTE: this is purely my own personal experience
to provide some bg info, in sec 1 i managed to barely sneak into an ip sec sch with one of the lowest cut off points - my psle score was literally 1 above the cop. by upper sec, i was failing all my subjects consistently (save for english) due to a slew of family problems and resultant mental health issues. i SHOULD have been retained in sec sch or forced to transfer to the o-level track bc i didn’t meet the promotion criteria to the affiliated jc, but my teachers chose to turn a blind eye and let me go on anyway. i was such a hopeless student (chronic absenteeism and outbursts) but in hindsight, i’m still grateful they made this concession for me because had i taken the o-levels, i probably wouldn’t have been able to go anywhere
in jc1 (2021), i never watched any lectures or did any tutorials. i was still just as hopeless as ever. anyone could tell i was still mentally unstable, still having family issues and that acads took a backseat in my mind. i didn’t have good relations with my teachers since i was such an unmotivated student. my support networks were non-existent (my closest friends were also struggling anyway). so it was not much surprise when by the end of the academic year, i had scored a measly 8.75rp (B in GP and U for everything else). still, instead of being directly retained, i was still given the chance to sit for some provisional advancement exams but ofc i failed da sht outta those anyway and actually got retained.
i think retaining made something click in my mind. despite all the past years of getting away with shit grades and not caring about school, i never truly suffered any “true” consequences since concessions were always made for me. but getting retained was now a tangible consequence i had to face. also, being placed into a new batch without the same faces from the past 5 years also helped me care less about people’s opinions and i could truly focus on myself. that said, i’m really grateful that it was in my jc that i retained. not sure how the support for retainees in other jcs are like, but i was put into a structured programme for retainees at the start of the year where we got to attend enrichment activities and head start lessons. also we were assigned to teachers that we could turn to for support :)
my family problems still persisted, sure, and school was still a scary place for me, but less than it had ever been. because i didn’t have pw or mt to worry about anymore, i also had a lot more free time in school. my friends who promoted shared lesson materials and answer keys with me, and also offered to teach me sometimes, which made getting through tutorials so much easier bc whenever i got stuck i knew i had help.
talking about external help, it really defined my retainee journey. i am immensely grateful to my friends and teachers who pushed me along. i was a pw slacker and i still got an A anyway bc my group mates carried… it’s something i still feel guilty about and i definitely didn’t deserve that A. i’m still friends with my pw mates till this day which im really grateful for. in my second jc1 year, because i actually started putting effort into my studies, it became much easier to build a rapport with my new teachers. moreover i think they had to keep an eye on me anyway since i was a retainee lol but i was able to form close relationships with them and they became an integral part of my support network as well :’)
in jc1 (2022) myes, i went into the exams with low expectations - maybe straight Ds and I would’ve been happy. i ended up scoring As for all my subjects except a B in one, which were completely unexpected since i only ever saw Us on my report slips. this kickstarted a “virtuous cycle” for me and i began to take pride in my academics. by the end of my second jc1 year, i had attained a perfect score in my second round of promotional examinations!! my friends and teachers were all really proud of me and i was really happy at that point in time :)
i also began to get more opportunities in school, like leadership positions and the chance to participate in competitions or lead events since i finally had my sht together. these all helped me with my portfolio building as well :’)
around a levels period, smth rly disruptive happened at home and i thought that perhaps the past 2 years of work would come crashing down. it was hard to study at home w everything that was going on. i left every paper unconfident. at that point, i was aiming for a pretty competitive uni course which was kind of unrealistic since i was a retainee, but i dared to dream big and since i had finally pulled myself together i thought that there was no harm in trying. however i thought my a levels score wouldn’t end up making the cut since i felt like my papers all went rly badly ;-;
for the 3 months between my last paper and a level results release, i avoided thinking about my score as much as possible. i kept all my notes and tutorials in case i ended up having to retake my a levels. on the day itself, i didn’t even show up to school to collect my results in person as i was so convinced that i had done badly and that i would end up crying in front of my classmates and teachers. in fact i even waited until the next day to open my results online. but lo and behold, i had attained a perfect score. i was so elated that i could actually apply for the course i wanted :’)
fast forward through the months, i submitted my applications and personal statements + portfolio and my teachers’ referee reports, received my interview invites, went for them, and then received my acceptances from the two local universities offering the degree i wanted. :’) everything truly worked out the best way they could have. circling back to the topic of help, i received a lot of support from my teachers and even reddit strangers during my uni applications haha
and that’s why, in retrospect, retaining was truly the best thing that could have happened to me. i don’t think it’d be far-fetched to say that it literally changed the trajectory of my life. i learned how to have a proper work ethic, took away a strong support network of friends and teachers, and honed important skills like leadership. i still cringe when i think about how much of a problem student i used to be, but it was only because i let things ever get that bad that now i know how important it is to stay on track.
i’m really grateful that as much as retaining is a taboo subject in jc, that i wasn’t discriminated against for having been a retainee. it might seem weird and like im making “retainee” my whole brand, but it was truly a turning point in my life and i wear it like a badge of honour almost.
i’m now excitedly waiting for uni to start in august. ٩( ᐛ )و
TL;DR: retaining helped me gain a proper work ethic and form a strong support network. my mental health also improved by leaps and bounds. i ended up scoring well at the a levels and was accepted into my desired uni course. so quite literally, retaining changed the trajectory of my life for the better🫶

2024.06.02 05:23 Ok_Letterhead4 A series of pain, consultations, and tests which led to the final diagnosis of Left Hip Dysplasia (LHP), with labrum tear and a recount of Left Periacetabular Osteotomy (LPAO) procedure.

Hi, not sure if this has been documented before but here I am, giving my 2 cents worth to everyone who needs this. I know it’s been really tough on everyone who has to go through this. It’s a really long post, so if you are short on time, just go straight to the heading in bold to find out what you’re looking for.
I don't know where everyone is from, but I am from Singapore and apparently, I can’t find any related posts by Singaporeans in any subreddits. If any fellow countryman needs this, there you go. For fellow netizens with Hip Dysplasia, there might be differences in the processes, but I suppose the recovery process is just about the same. Hope this helps, nonetheless!
Pre-diagnosis I have been a leisure runner in my late teens, and pretty much run about 5 to 10km regularly til mid-20s. It started with knee pain in a particular race, and the pain continued for a couple of years more. I had wanted to train for a half marathon, but I also wanted to ensure that I started my training right and pain-free. So I went to straight to a Sports Specialist Doctor in a Public Hospital and she diagnosed me with a Runner’s Knee (or formally known as Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, PFPS) after looking through my x-ray, and my description of pain. She referred me to the Podiatrist and the Physiotherapist for gait correction and muscle strengthening. It was going on fine for a while, but I still couldn’t run pain-free. Then Covid came, and the appointments have to be suspended. But I was still doing my physio exercises and running about 2.5 to 5km when we were allowed to.
Diagnosis As more restrictions eased, I began training for speed, and that was when the pain started coming from the hip, and walking became strangely painful with a pinching sensation at the hip/groin area at this point. I sought help from a private physiotherapist to find out what happened. After a few sessions, he realized something was not right and suggested me to get a hip x-ray done. And so I did, at a Polyclinic, and the x-ray showed shallow acetabulum and I got referred (again) to a Sports Specialist to get a MRI done. And LHP with a labrum tear was the diagnosis. And to no surprise… I got referred to another Specialist again, who was affirmative that I need a LPAO and at the same time broke it to me that I have a RHP which will need a PAO too. If you need to know the timeline - I had the x-ray done at the end of 2022, MRI done on mid-2023, LPAO done at the start of 2024.
Pre-surgery Preparation (Work) Check with your doctor on the estimated rest period (mine’s 3months) and inform your boss about it. The surgery will most likely be about 5 hours max, hospital stay 5 days, and you will be on 2 crutches for 6-8 weeks, and another 1-2 weeks on 1 crutch to stabilize your walking. You might be able to resume work obligations if it’s a sedentary job or another 6 more weeks of home rest if your work requires much walking or manual labour. So it’s really important to work out with your boss and colleagues for a proper handover so that you can concentrate solely on recovery.
Pre-surgery Preparation (Hospital) There will be a blood test / some swab done 3 – 4 weeks prior to the surgery; the nurse will let you know. You will be under General Anesthesia (GA) during the surgery, so fasting is required a day before is required.
Do pack light for your hospital stay. Use a backpack for convenience. Clothes to wear after discharge + source of entertainment and communication is enough. You wouldn’t want to carry a lot of things home after discharge when you’re on 2 crutches.
Pre-surgery Preparation (Insurance + Hospital Wards) Do inform your Insurance Agent / Company about it so that they are aware. It may or may not be covered, so please get in touch with them as soon as you have the details.
[Singapore’s context] There will be a pre-admission appointment with the hospital staff about 3 weeks before the scheduled surgery, which the staff with share with you the cost of the different class wards. Basically, Class C (8-bedded) and Class B2 (6-bedded) wards are fully subsidized by the government. I can’t remember how much a Class B1 (4-bedded) ward costs, but probably about 10-15K SGD. Class A (1-bedded) is about 21-23K SGD. The staff with help you out with the Letter of Guarantee (LOG) from your Insurance Company and will let you know in about 2 weeks if the application for LOG is successful, if not you would have to prepare for the bills depending on your chosen ward (either Class A or Class B1). There is no need for LOG for Class C and Class B2 wards, since it’s fully government-subsidized. Medisave and MediShield/IPs will be used for all Class Wards (Note: IPs is only applicable to 30 years old and above). My insurance allows me to be in the Class A ward and the application for LOG was also successful, thankfully.
Pre-surgery Preparation (Personal) Since you will be on crutches, do arrange your house to accommodate that. A folding bedside table, a caddy trolley, a long-arm grabber, pillows are items that you can prepare beforehand. Do also ensure that your toilet is slip-free as well or restructure it in a way that is beneficial for you. I had to bathe sitting on the toilet bowl for the 1st week as it is difficult to make it slip-free. It got better 2nd week onwards when I was allowed a 30% weight-bearing on my operated side, so I could be in the showering area. You will be at home and ‘confine’ to the bed/chair most of the time, so it’d be good to have some form of entertainment at home. Nanoblocks, Colouring books, Wordsearch, Sudoku, Crosswords, Netflix, Disney+, Hbo, Reading, Crocheting, Journalling, Zoom with friends are some of the things that you can do / prepare before surgery. You may or may not have energy for them, but that’s ok, the main idea is to focus on resting and having a sound mind so that you won’t be discouraged / feel bored / unmotivated. For meal wise, it’d be good if your family can cook / buy food, if not do ensure that your budget allows you to get food delivery for 6-8 weeks. I got my meals from Grabfood. Do ensure that you have a good chair – not those that put your knees above your hips.
Day of surgery If you can, do arrive 5-10mins earlier to settle in after registration.
[Singapore’s context] Do note that the staff who registers you in will ask you for the person to contact after the surgery. It’d be a text message to inform the person on the end of your surgery and which ward you will be in. You will need to sign the LOG letter (if any) and proceed to take your height and weight at the self-administered machine. Wait and follow any instructions by the nurse. You will be asked to change into the hospital gown and the nurses will ask you more questions, just answer them accordingly. They will also help to keep your belongings in their storage and will deliver to your ward at their timeslot after your surgery.
Process of surgery The Anesthesiology team will introduce themselves to you and go through the pain management methods. They asked what method (they mentioned 3, but I only remembered what I had) I preferred, and I told them to go ahead with what they think was good for me. Epidural, it was. And so, I got pricked with needles and whatnots and they finally brought me into the operating room. I didn’t realize the room was so big and cold and there were many doctors and nurses around. They did their thing, and I was just trying not to feel awkward with so many people looking at my bareback and being in a very vulnerable state. It’s a little pricky and painful at some point. Do let them know if you’re too cold, they have this hot air thing that can warm you up. They will also insert a urine catheter for you to help with the bladder movements. I was quickly under General Anesthesia (GA) with a breathing mouthpiece (the Anesthesiologists will direct you on what to do). I woke up after the surgery with a very dry throat and asked if I could have some water. They gave me a tiny vial of water, just about enough to soothe my throat. I guess it was also caused I was under GA and couldn’t be given much for my stomach too. I was quite aware of what was going on though I was still a little sleepy. I had to be brought to the High Dependency Ward (HDW) due to low blood pressure.
After surgery (in HDW) I kept wanting to drink water but that also caused me to vomit out water and had no appetite for dinner. Nausea and vomiting are just some side effects of GA. (I remembered being disappointed that I couldn’t have the watermelon, I had wanted to eat that, but I knew I couldn’t stomach it) And little did I realize that was the last time I saw a watermelon during meal times (damn the side effects). I was also quite weak on my operated left side, I was not in that much of a pain, just some discomfort. I was given a self-administered morphine device too, there is this button that I can press to administer morphine into my system at regular interval, the device has some safety feature which helps to stop people from abusing it) Used it once after I had to be flipped over to be wiped clean by the nurse (at this time, I had given up on trying to maintain my dignity, though the nurses were quite humane about it, if you know what I mean) But I was also trying not to use the morphine at all cos it gave me more side effects like drowsiness and an even lower blood pressure). Thankfully I had a good Pain Team (that’s what they call themselves), which helped to lower the dosage after they realized I was not using it that much and I was still very drowsy (I fell asleep halfway unknowingly after talking to people), and eventually I was off it. I was taken for an x-ray after the nurse ascertained that my blood pressure was normal (since I had the catheter, I just sipped water without a care in the world, to help raise my blood pressure). And I administered the morphine once after they flipped me over for the x-ray (it was bloody hell painful and it took a lot of strength). Probably in a day or 2, the doctors decided to remove my epidural needle and I was finally free of it. The next thing to get rid of was the catheter. I had a love-hate relationship with it. I need to be able to pass motion to get rid of it, which I did after an arduous process. Constipation is a side effect of not moving around. Your stool will most definitely be a Type 1 under the Bristol Stool Chart but it will be back to normal in a few days or so. I did a little cheer when I finally pooped.
My physiotherapist came and pushed me to move around. The first step coming down from the bed was the hardest due to gravitational pull. My muscles needed to be woken up after lying down for 48 hours or more. I got transferred to General Ward (GW) soon after.
After surgery (GW) I had some bed exercises to help to wake up the muscles and I was using the walker to move around. It was tough doing the bed exercises, but they have to be done. I was also able to bath independently by sitting down on the bathing chair in the bathing area of the toilet. I still needed assistance to wear my pyjamas pants. So unfortunately, the nurse still had to be around when I bathed for safety purposes since I was a fall-risk patient.
At this time, I was trying to get out of bed and be in the chair and also use the walker more to help with moving around and getting the muscles up and running. I had 2 more physio sessions with the crutches. Using the walker frequently helped with the use of crutches. (You will know what I meant when you have tried both out. You can push yourself but please do not force it if you are not strong enough yet.) My doctors have cleared me for discharge, I just need my physiotherapist to clear me too (they have to be sure that I can use the crutches properly and safely and also complete simple daily adaptive skills). Finally, I got cleared for discharge. I got the medication, and it was a cashless and fuss-free stay/process for me. I stayed in the hospital for 7 days (3.5 days in HDW, 3.5 days in GW). Remember to get your crutches before leaving the hospital.
Home rest 1st Week I must say, it’s really liberating to be at home, though it’s really a chore to move around. I did my physio exercises about 3x a day and just be a sloth. I was still very tired, but it was difficult to sleep. I’m usually a side sleeper, but I had to sleep on my back for 6 weeks, at least. My doctors said that I could sleep on my unoperated side, but it can be achy.
Home rest 2nd Week Things are looking up a little more since I could place a 30% weight on my left. I could enter the showering area now, just be careful not to overload the operated side. 2 crutches are still a must to prevent any overloading of weight to help with the recovery. Protein and calcium-rich food are your best friend. Again, do your physio exercises regularly. I still do mine 3x a day.
Home rest 7th Week Finally, I got to put full weight on my operated side. Happily, I tried to ditch BOTH my crutches, please do not be like me! Ease into walking slowly. Use 1 crutch to help you with the gravity pull as you put 100% weight on both legs. It is also possible to ditch the crutch and try walking on very short distances, do take care of your walking form. If you limp badly, please use 1 crutch and practice walking. I did try stairs and use the railings if necessary. I managed to ditch the crutches by Week 8. Physio continues, if you have access to the gym, please go ahead, slowly. I am sleeping both on my back and on my unoperated side now.
Home rest 13th Week Not sure if things are still looking good, but my knees kinda hurt, and that’d be another story for another day. I am cleared to resume work, though I still got to be careful with the walking and all.
Week 14 – Week 18 (current) I think since I am walking a lot more, I am limping a little, but not enough for a need to bring back the crutch. It got more achy when I’m sleeping on my unoperated side and still a little discomfort if I try to sleep on my operated side. My operated side is still weak and achy when I walk or sit or lie down. I am still doing my physio, though not 3x a day now.
I am not too sure how I will progress but that’s my journey thus far. Happy to share here and to answer any questions you may have.

2024.06.02 05:20 qwas12357 BPD and hurdles to recovery

Vital Environmental Factors That Can Prevent Recovery From BPD:
If, as a result of childhood trauma, we have developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or borderline personality disorder (BPD) our post-traumatic environment can have an extremely strong impact upon our chances of recovery. I list some particularly important factors below :
LACK OF SUPPORT FROM FRIENDS, FAMILY AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY / SOCIETY
If we are not provided with such support, but, instead, are shunned and ignored, it is highly likely that our feelings of worthlessness, vulnerability and isolation will be intensified.
Support needs to be non-judgmental, empathic and validating both of our emotional pain and also of our interpretation of how our adverse experiences have affected us.
Also, those providing the support need to be 'emotionally literate' (i.e. able and willing to discuss feelings and emotions in a compassionate and understanding manner)
NOT BEING BELIEVED
Obviously, if people we talk to about our traumatic experiences don't believe what we are saying or believe we are exaggerating the seriousness of what happened to us (or the seriousness of the effect it has had upon us) our psychological condition is likely to be severely aggravated: our lack of self-esteem, sense of despair, sense of worthlessness, sense of unlovability, feelings of isolation and any feelings of anger, bitterness and resentment we may have are all likely to be severely intensified.
SECONDARY VICTIMIZATION
We need to avoid those who would cause us secondary victimization. Secondary victimization occurs when those who ought to be helping us instead harm us further. Indeed, the example of not being believed (see above) is one such form of secondary victimization.
Other examples of secondary victimization include :
On top of these problems, it can, too, be difficult to get professional support:
A recent study carried out by Proctor et al., 2020, has produced further evidence that BPD sufferers frequently find it highly problematic gaining access to effective treatment such as dialectical behaviour therapy, or DBT. (In relation to this problem, you may wish to read my previously published articles: How Malignant Alienation May Impoverish Care BPD Patients Receive.)
Whilst many professional used to believe BPD was typically unresponsive to treatment, this can no longer operate as a feasible excuse as there now exists an increasingly large and growing body of evidence that a substantial proportion of those who have been diagnosed with this extremely serious condition (which is closely linked to severe and protracted, interpersonal, childhood trauma) can be treated effectively, at least to the degree that they no longer fulfil the requisite criteria necessary for the diagnosis of BPD to continue to be applicable.
The authors of the study suggest that difficulty obtaining proper treatment is linked to the continued stigma attaching itself to a BPD diagnosis. However, as sufferers of the condition become increasingly knowledgeable about the illness and of the existence of evidence base therapies like DBT (see above), so too should their confidence assertively to request the opportunity to access such treatment. After all, about one in ten BPD sufferers eventually die by suicide, so the need for such individuals to be offered compassionate, non-judgmental, empathetic and non-discriminatory treatment can hardly be overstated. The treatment of extreme mental pain is just as much of an ethical imperative as is the treatment of extreme physical pain.
The Australian study surveyed 500 patients between 2011 and 2017 and found that those offered appropriate help often waited between a year and a year-and-a-half to receive it. The author of the study pointed out that this not only resulted in unnecessary suffering for the BPD sufferer but also placed extra strain on hospital emergency services (i.e. due to more BPD sufferers reaching crisis point, attempting suicide, self-medicating with dangerous levels of alcohol and/or narcotics, extreme self-harm such as self-cutting and self-burning etc.).
The researchers concluded by emphasizing the importance of health professionals applying NHMRC BPD guidelines in order to support front line services responsible for the welfare of BPD sufferers.

RESEARCH SUGGESTS LEADERS’ SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE TAKEN JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS FORMAL STATEMENTS

Over 180 world leaders maintain social media accounts, and some of them issue policy warnings to rivals and the public on these platforms rather than relying on traditional government statements. How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. The research, by MIT political scientists, deploys novel surveys of both the public and experienced foreign policy specialists. “What we find, which is really surprising, across both

PRONATALISM IS THE LATEST SILICON VALLEY TREND. WHAT IS IT—AND WHY IS IT DISTURBING?

For Malcolm and Simone Collins, declining birth rates across many developed countries are an existential threat. The solution is to have “tons of kids,” and to use a hyperrational, data-driven approach to guide everything from genetic selection to baby names and day-to-day parenting. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. And a Guardian journalist witnessed Malcolm strike their two-year-old across the face for misbehavior, a parenting style they apparently developed based on watching “tigers

HOW SCIENCE, MATH, AND TECH CAN PROPEL SWIMMERS TO NEW HEIGHTS

One hundred years ago, in the 1924 Paris Olympics, American Johnny Weissmuller won the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 59 seconds. Nearly 100 years later, in the most recent Olympics, the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo, Caeleb Dressel took home the same event with a time that was 12 seconds faster than Weissmuller’s. Swimming times across the board have become much faster over the past century, a result of several factors, including innovations

BANNING SEX CRIME OFFENDERS FROM CHANGING THEIR NAMES DOESN’T MAKE US SAFER

The government of British Columbia recently introduced a bill to ban people convicted of serious offenses from legally changing their name. The proposed amendment to the province’s Name Act would also prohibit those found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder from changing their name. The government announced the move after media reports that Allan Schoenborn legally changed his name to Ken Johnson. Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children in 2010 because of a delusional disorder, and was placed at a psychiatric hospital.

SILICON VALLEY ISN’T THE START-UP UTOPIA WE THOUGHT, RESEARCH FINDS

Silicon Valley—considered the world’s hub of technology and innovation—can breed inequality and sameness among budding entrepreneurs, according to new research. Behind the multi-million-dollar deals and tales of start-up utopia, Silicon Valley’s “uneven” investment landscape is in fact a barrier to many budding businesses, says the study from the University of Stirling and Georg-August-University Göttingen. But the researchers suggest other countries could still learn from the more discerning entrepreneurial ecosystem that bred giants such as Apple and Google, to be more selective in backing start-ups. While it is not uncommon for

I WANT TO KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM ABUSE—BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME I’M DOING IT WRONG

Child sexual abuse is uncomfortable to think about, much less talk about. The idea of an adult engaging in sexual behaviors with a child feels sickening. It’s easiest to believe that it rarely happens, and when it does, that it’s only to children whose parents aren’t protecting them. This belief stayed with me during my early days as a parent. I kept an eye out for creepy men at the playground and was skeptical of men who worked with young children, such as teachers and coaches. When my kids were

CYBERFLASHING IS A FORM OF GENDERED SEXUAL VIOLENCE THAT MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Sexting—sending sexually suggestive or explicit messages and images—is now a widespread practice, and can be a healthy way to express and explore sexuality. However, there is a need to distinguish between consensual sexting and forms of sexual harassment like cyberflashing. Cyberflashing refers to the act of non-consensually sending sexual imagery (like nudes or “dick pics”) to another person. It is facilitated through communications technologies including text, AirDrop and social media applications like Snapchat and Tinder. 2024.06.02 05:19 unremarkable_emo Trying to understand the process.

So my county (which rarely opens their wait-list) opened it last week for one day for disabled applicants under 62. This was perfect as my in-laws and their disabled daughter have been trying to find housing that's affordable and accommodate their mobility needs. I helped them apply and they were accepted on the wait-list.
The county explained in their advertisement that this wait-list is formed from drawing 100 random applicants from the pool that applied that day. They didn't say how long it would take to move through the list, but I assume they must already have some vouchers available to want to reopen the list, right? Would it be pointless to call and ask if they have any estimate? We're still trying to move forward with looking for a better place for them as their lease is up soon. But we also don't want to help them move somewhere only to get called up for a voucher, then have to spend money to break the lease and move again to find a section 8 place. How do people navigate their current lease when they are offered their housing voucher and need to move?

Runes are integrated into everyday life, influencing everything from household appliances to warfare. * Societal Structure: The society within this world is often stratified, with distinct social classes based on wealth, power, and access to technology and magic. The wealthy elite may control advanced technology and wield powerful magical artifacts, while the common folk struggle to survive in the industrialized cities or rural villages. Architecture: focusing on diesel-punk style from the 1910s-1950s * Industrial Architecture: Industrial buildings, such as factories, warehouses, and power plants, dominate the urban landscape. These structures are characterized by their utilitarian design, with large open spaces, exposed steel beams, and functional layouts. The emphasis is on efficiency and productivity, reflecting the industrialization of society. * Gothic Revival: Gothic Revival architecture continues to influence buildings, particularly churches, cathedrals, and government buildings. Pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and intricate stone carvings evoke a sense of medieval grandeur and religious symbolism. * Brutalism: Emerging in the mid-20th century, Brutalism is characterized by its raw, concrete construction and stark, minimalist design. Buildings in this style often feature exposed concrete surfaces, geometric forms, and rugged textures. Brutalist architecture reflects a sense of social idealism and functionalism, with an emphasis on honesty in materials and structural expression. * Urban Planning: The urban landscape undergoes significant transformations during this period, with large-scale urban planning projects shaping the layout of cities. Modernist principles of efficiency and rationality inform the design of neighborhoods, transportation systems, and public spaces. The concept of the "city of the future" inspires architects and planners to create visionary urban environments that accommodate the needs of a rapidly growing population. * Magic System Description * Foundation: Runes harnesses the inherent mana that’s in all matter through intricate symbols called runes. * Activation: Runes are activated by infusing one's own mana into the symbol, causing it to absorb surrounding mana to perform the desired function. * Deactivation: follows a similar process, with individuals withdrawing some mana from the symbol to cease its effects. * Versatility: Runes can be inscribed onto any surface including parchment, stone, metal, or even living beings. Once activated, they can produce a wide range of effects, limited only by the complexity of the rune and the skill of the Runecaster. * Applications: Runes can be used for offense, defense, enchantments, day-to-day tasks and more. Each rune represents a specific concept or action, and combinations of runes can create complex magical effects. * Training: Runecasters undergo rigorous training to understand the intricacies of rune construction, activation, and manipulation. Mastery of rune magic requires years of diligent study and practice. * Science vs. Art: Runes are considered a science rather than an art, adhering to precise rules and principles governing their construction and usage. While some individuals may have a natural affinity for rune crafting, anyone can learn to make runes with sufficient dedication and training. * Limitations: Improper use of runes can lead to unintended consequences or backfiring effects. The complexity of rune construction means that creating advanced runes requires considerable expertise. * Changed People/Parts: A rare genetic disorder afflicts approximately 25% of the population, resulting in random body parts being transformed into a durable metal that functions just like the original part but with anomalous properties. These affected parts grant individuals elemental powers/magic associated with their respective element. * Changed parts: Any body part/parts ranging from a single muscle fiber to entire organs can be affected. The affected area becomes a metal that resembles the original body part but possesses enhanced durability and elemental affinity. * Elemental Powers: The type of elemental powemagic granted is completely random but what ever the affected body part is they’ll gain total control over that element the only limits being their imagination and power level. * Types of Elements: Individuals with changed parts can manifest a variety of elemental powers. The different elements and the chance of having it is as follows: 15% lightning, 22% fire, 25% air, 10% water, 10% earth, 5% spirit/soul, 5% combustion, 1% space, 1% time, 3% light, and 3% darkness. * Power Utilization: You can control the element you get through your changed part however, you want(kind of like bending, but without the need for the martial arts) the only limitation being your power level and your imagination your power level dictating how much of your element you can create how strong your control over your element is and how much of that element you can control and imagination dictating how you control your element * Power Levels: The strength of an individual's elemental powers/magic is indicated by the brightness of the glow emitted by the transformed body part when it’s used. A brigh glow signifies a high power and proficiency in utilizing there elemental abilities. Your power level goes up the more you use your changed part like a muscle the more you use it that gets. * Awareness: In most cases, individuals and even medical professionals are unaware of the presence of changed parts until the affected individual begins using their elemental powers/magic. The only changed parts, that are visible are ones like changed eyes or skin which are obviously immediately noticeable. * Monsters: a small amount of monsters/folklore creatures/mythical creatures exist but they’re specific to the region where they’re mythology/folklore comes from so let’s say Japan they would have creatures/monsters from there mythologies/religions/folklore * Gods * Artifacts of Power: Each god in every religion or mythology is sealed inside the item they’re associated with the most. These items can be anything these items possess a small part of the god sealed inside them * Connection to Mortals: Mortals who wield one of these items gain a fraction of the god's power, although they are not on par with the deity itself. * Divine Projection: Gods have the ability to astrally project from their artifacts, manifesting in the mortal realm. However, to avoid driving mortals insane with their true forms, gods typically possess a random mortal to interact with the mortal world.

2024.06.02 04:59 curiosityisme11 Subsequent Entrant subclass 482 Visa Granted!

For Background:
First of all I’m from the Philippines. My de-facto partner of 3+ years went to Australia last May 4, 2023 under subclass 400 as a Fitter (323211). His subclass 482 visa was granted on October 31, 2023. An acquaintance of his uncle shared that he was able to bring his family (wife & 2 kids) to Australia by processing Subsequent Entrant Visa. With this, we decided to also take a risk and contacted the migration agency they used. I am currently working for a company where my partner and I met. We wanted to be together earlier than waiting for his processing of PR (2years from his 482 Visa grant the earliest)
My Journey Timeline (all in 2024): 135 Days
Only restriction of my Visa is 8501 - Maintain health insurance.

2024.06.02 04:57 vlb117 Character Affidavit vs Character Reference?

Hi folks, I'm applying for an NYC CCW permit.
I found this file (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xen4Rb32x9Le2YG-JeA-jXzz9DylhBaY/view?usp=drive\_link) in the google drive linked in the main post of this sub. Today I got this form signed and notarized by 2 of my eventual 4 character witnesses, but after a bit of digging on the sub/discord it seems that this form is actually the character affidavit for Long Island, not necessarily an acceptable character reference form for NYC.
My question is, would the affidavit still fly as an acceptable character reference for the NYC CCW? It cost me $25 each to get those 2 filled out so I'd like to avoid redoing it if possible, but having my application rejected because I used the wrong reference form is obviously a much bigger PITA. Would love to hear your thoughts.

2024.06.02 04:53 fthrly How do I permanently keep furfrou a certain trim using the PKHEX "batch editor" tool?

Does Anyone know how to permanently keep furfrou a certain trim using the PKHEX "batch editor" tool?
I've been trying to get furfrou in "star" ands "kabuki" trims as a permanent haircut. I've been trying to follow the rules on the pkhex "how to" section, but i seem to keep having the same issue of the 5 day window which turns furfrou back into the normal trim.
Per the pkhex, I was using this code set up:
=Slot=6 (the slot of where my furfrou is in the game)
.Species=676 (furfrou's dex #)
.Form=2 (the form I'm trying to have "star")
.FormArgument=5 (i'm assuming this is how many days the form lasts?)
.FormArgumentRemain=5 (i was assuming this is the code to keep it at 5 days so that it wont dwindle down to 0 and go back to the natural state)
.PID=$shiny (shiny type)
