2024.06.02 09:19 Pretend-Change-2809 Another lyrics interpretation

So, i’m a native Russian speaker, and i am highly aware of the sound of the Russian accent, so i tried to do a lyrics interpretation considering the accent, and based on the interviews, the fact that they maybe weren’t that sober. So here goes nothing:
Fuck Fuck! Love is mine/lonely smile, drink awhile Closed out, i had to picture us We’re falling down, heavy hand(s) And it’s still hard to live it up A lot of words are useless now I’ll seek my ignorant peace Can’t sit/see side, wake up! Ah, it’s a mirror from the sky Busted/busy roads, empty streets In hyperrealism (they had only yellow leaves) And it’s somewhere hidden deadeep And you can never find it!
Today you’ll see, I’m back in your dreams! I’m so unkind, your heart is mine! I waste my time, i’m sure it’s alright You try to find some words in your mind
A lot of time, it’s alright Write a letter, it’s for sure Creating things not too hard But if i leave because of this From the evening, turn it up Until the dark i’ll be alright “There is nothing truly down”-the five words why!
Today you’ll see, I’m back in your dreams! I’m so unkind, your heart is mine! I waste my time, i’m sure it’s alright You try to find some words in your mind. Today you’ll see, I’m back in your dreams! I’m so unkind, your heart is mine! I waste my time, i’m sure it’s alright You try to find some sense in my eyes!

2024.06.02 09:13 treeh9m5 How can I go about sending an immediate resignation letter? I feel really bad about it.

Hi all. I have been working at a library for 6 months under my city. Unfortunately I need to quit immediately because I don’t feel safe there anymore after a male library patron has taken it upon himself to make me his target. Long story short, he has a criminal record for being violent, found my social medias and phone number and harassed me via text despite me politely rejecting him but for some reason he didn’t believe me when I said I have a boyfriend. This has been going on since January, but I tried to let it go since I couldn’t afford to quit my job. My breaking point with him was this Friday when he was using a computer (the section of the library where I work) and was getting upset when something wasn’t working and he decided to point directly at me and tell me repeatedly that “its my fault” his computer wasn’t working and that I was doing this to him. I didn’t include every single detail (which I can if anyone cares) but ultimately I was like yeah… this man isn’t okay and I don’t feel safe. I called out on Saturday and planned to send in a letter Monday morning as soon as the library director comes in. Luckily, I had an interview for a different city department that week and they actually called me back the same day all this occurred and offered me the position. Obviously I’m going to take it, but now I need advice on how to go about leaving my current job. My issue is that both jobs are under the city system and I would basically just be transferring, but I can’t stick out the two weeks here before transferring there. I plan on mentioning the new role in the letter, but I’m worried that if I quit immediately they’ll remove my name from the employee list even though I would just be starting somewhere else soon after. I’m not sure how to go about asking to keep me in the system when I’m not staying for two weeks. Also, I’ve never sent an immediate notice before and I feel bad because in my section of the library, it’s only me, my supervisor and another coworker but she just went on a month long vacation last week so I would be basically abandoning my supervisor to work alone. My coworkers here have been fairly good people and I have no issues with them so it sucks to do this. And please I would like no judgement on the reason why I am deciding to quit. I mentioned that I didn’t include every single detail but I’m glad to elaborate if anyone wants to know. Anyways, thanks for any advice you may have!

2024.06.02 06:43 TheApolloZ 23M, looking for long-term friendships

Hello, I hope you're having a good time! I'm looking for someone whom I can have conversations with in the long term but if you want to have a short conversation, that's okay as well. Who knows if we get along well and end up being in touch for years? I prefer talking to people within the age range of 18–25 as I have talked to older people all my life but it's fine if you're a bit older than the specified range.
Please read the post entirely before you decide to send a chat request or message. It will take about five minutes or more depending on your reading speed. You may skip this post if you can't bother reading it. This is only for people who love reading and typing lengthy messages, because that's the only way we can communicate with each other when we don't get enough time to have real-time conversations. I am mentioning this only to save your time; I don't mean to come off as rude. The messages I send can be way longer than this post if we happen to click, and people who can't read the post entirely won't bother reading my messages properly either, and that would be a waste of time and energy for both individuals. You might have seen my posts very often in case you visit this subreddit on a regular basis, but I assure you that I only post so frequently because I don't receive any responses—and when I do, they're from people who either can't hold a conversation for long or message me without reading the post at all.
A bit about me:
I'm interested in all types of visual and aural arts. Writing, drawing, listening and composing music, watching movies and photography (I'm an amateur though) are my interests and hobbies. I'm broke so I'm not a gamer. I do have a fairly powerful PC but with a low-end graphics card I play older games on. Nothing online though.
Speaking of music, I'm mostly interested in Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, R&B/Soul (both classic and modern). I like listening to The Weeknd, Prince, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Sade, Aaliyah, The Isley Brothers and various artists from the 70s to late 2000s generally. I'm a movie buff so I can recommend you movies too if you're looking for something to watch. And yeah, I LOVE MEMES! Keep sending them all day and I won't complain!
I'm an ambivert (more of an introvert though). My MBTI is INFP-T if that matters. I'm looking for people who are willing to share the events which occur in everyday life, joy and sorrow, secrets, deepest fears, and build a genuine connection over the course of time. I'll be there for you throughout the good and bad times; I expect the same from you too. I am active on most social media platforms. We can move on to other platforms once you feel comfortable with me.
Now here's the important stuff:
I would appreciate it if you don't just send me a "Hi/Hello/Hey." Introduce yourself; the longer the introduction is, the better. Makes room for questions. Instead of simply stating that you like movies/music, mention what genres you prefer. Makes the conversation more interesting. Please put effort into maintaining the conversation. Ask plenty of questions with the data I have provided in this post so I know that you're actually interested in getting to know me as well rather than simply talking about yourself. I feel like an interviewer if the conversation is one-sided. Don't bother messaging me if you're not naturally inquisitive and just want to talk about yourself all the time. I won't respond to any short messages (4-8 lines). If you want to leave, don't ghost me without stating a reason if we've been talking for longer than two weeks. Just tell me that we can't get along if you think the conversation isn't going anywhere. I won't get offended.
Your gender, race, sexuality don't matter at all, but tell me your age and gender just so that I know who I am talking to and follow social etiquette. I absolutely love lengthy messages; I don't feel overwhelmed by them. So bonus points if you're capable of typing lengthy messages. I'm a person who would spend an hour(s) typing a well-thought lengthy message rather than having small talk in real time. I type as if I'm writing a letter. I can chat in real time as well, it's just that I don't get much time throughout the day and I'm active at odd hours. And time zones exist, unfortunately. Short messages or long messages, the amount of time and energy you have to spend will be the same anyway.
Please don't message me if you're just looking for people to kill your boredom and later abandon them. No, I'm not being rude. I have had enough. Those one word or one sentence responses lead nowhere. Also, if you're someone who wishes to stay anonymous forever even after talking for a considerable amount of time, I'm not the person you're looking for. This is an important thing to keep in mind. I am open to revealing my identity if we get along well so I would appreciate it if you're open minded as well. But that doesn't mean I want you to reveal your identity in the very beginning itself. However, I won't wait more than three months just for you to reveal your identity if we communicate regularly. In fact, it's a great feat to converse for longer than a month on the internet. I personally think that anonymity acts as a barrier in any kind of relationship. I would love to meet you in real life at some point in the future if we get along and stay in touch for a considerable amount of time.
In the past 12 years, I have talked to several people around the globe on different platforms who wished to stay anonymous. I had conversations with them for months and years, but they always considered me as a stranger and eventually left. I'm tired of being a disposable person. What's the point of having a friend without a name and a face? I have no reason to trust someone who doesn't trust me. You can call me picky; I indeed am. I don't want to have conversations where both parties only ask each other about hobbies and interests and leave once they feel there's nothing in common. That's the reason why I asked you to cover those topics when introducing yourself. And just because I have already talked about my interests and hobbies doesn't mean there's nothing more to know about me. Human connection is a lot more than mere interests and hobbies.
I would love to interact with someone who doesn't treat me like an AI chatbot and acknowledges the fact that I'm an actual human being with feelings and emotions beyond the digital screen who spends his valuable time and energy to communicate with people—precious time and energy that I'll never be able to get back. I understand that these connections over the internet are very fragile and I can't control things the way I want so if you're interested feel free to send me a message anyway. I enjoy having conversations with people even if only for a while. Sometimes people you expect to be in touch for years leave you while the ones you don't expect to be in touch for long end up staying for a long time. Nothing is set in stone. All I ask you is to not leave without notifying me. Yes, I know whatever I have expressed so far sounds contradictory, but that's how life works, right? Reminds me of this quote by Japanese author Haruki Murakami:
"Is it possible, in the final analysis, for one human being to achieve perfect understanding of another? We can invest enormous time and energy in serious efforts to know another person, but in the end, how close can we come to that person's essence? We convince ourselves that we know the other person well, but do we really know anything important about anyone?"
While I agree with the fact that it's not possible to get to know a person entirely, I think connecting with another human being is a beautiful experience in itself. In the end, we are just lost souls yearning for human connection; searching for people who will provide attention and affection and accept us as we are. If you're still reading this, it means you are a good listener and reader. Message me if we have similar interests or ideals and if you think we can be potential friends. It doesn't really matter whether we have similar interests or not though, I would love to have you as a friend.
There's a lot more to learn about me but I would rather tell you all that when we begin interacting with each rather than typing it all here. Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm open to having a conversation with people around the globe any time. I'm also very patient so I don't mind waiting for weeks or a month if the messages are lengthy. I understand that you might find all of this intimidating, but there's nothing about me to be afraid of. My messages can be lengthy, but only if you reciprocate my efforts and keep on adding stuff to the text. I know that this post sounds like a contract. I know I sound very serious but that's not entirely true. In fact, I can crack jokes sooo bad that will make you laugh. Thank you for spending your precious time reading this post. What are you waiting for? Text me right now! Feel free to message me even if you're seeing this several hours or days later.
Have a nice day/night and I hope you find someone to develop a strong bond with in case I'm not the person you're looking for. Take care of yourself and always stay hydrated!

2024.06.02 06:42 balbiza-we-chikha Why are entry level engineering jobs so hard to find here…

I [23M] have a BSME. I am almost finished a masters with a focus in power electronics, controls, and BESSs (plus some renewable energies). I have 3 internships. One of them was with a power electronics company as an electrical eng intern. My GPAs are above average and I got my resume reviewed in EngineeringResumes.
Honestly, I am trying my best 😞 Every day applying and tailoring my resume and sending cover letters… it’s exhausting but I really want to find a good job!
I’m working at a grocery store right now but am able to live with my mom so it’s just okay so far..
I have applied to 80+ entry level mechanical and electrical eng jobs in the KC metro with one interview.
Is it really just that hard out here in these streets for entry level engineering jobs?
P.S. I am a US citizen with a clean background.

2024.06.02 06:37 Frostbite999 Is this job offer a scam?

Hi all,
A couple weeks ago I got reached out to by a recruiter from Pyramid Consulting with a job offer to be a Validation Technician at Intel, which isn't far off from what I used to do for work. I've been frantically searching for a job for the past few months so I immediately got into talks with this recruiter. They already had my resume and asked me to write a cover letter, which I did and submitted it to them. The following day they emailed me telling me that my resume has been shortlisted and they will send me information regarding an interview by next week. The following week I reached out to them for any updates regarding the interview. They told me that the long weekend put them delayed some things but I should be receiving the information soon. The following day I received an invite to a Microsoft Teams meeting for this coming Monday for an interview and a meeting this Friday (yesterday as of the time posting) for an interview strategy meeting. In the meeting I talked with a couple people from Pyramid Consulting and they gave me advice on what might be in the interview and I should leverage based on my resume and cover letter.
So far everything seemed reasonable and legit but when I did a bit of deeper research some things started not to add up. When I checked the Intel website, this job was not on their, and neither was it on LinkedIn or Indeed. When I googled the job title, I found an exact copy-paste for the job for a different company called Superbeo (which upon deeper inspection might be a vendor for Intel? I don't know if that information is relevant). After seeing this, I did decided to look into Pyramid Consulting to see if they are even real. Reviews from various sites about Pyramid Consulting are very mixed. Some people say they should not be trusted while others say they are legit. Looking at the meeting itself, the person who they said is supposed to be interviewing me from Intel (who is a real Intel employee as far as I can tell), isn't in the meeting. Although there is someone named Intel-PCI-Delivery from Pyramid Consulting in there so I'm not sure if they're connecting using that email. Finally, the last thing to set off some alarm bells within me occurred at the end of the strategy meeting. After discussing interview strats, they asked me to show a photo ID to confirm that I was the person that was supposed to be interviewed. I ended up showed them my drivers license without really thinking about it then continued to discuss some other things.
So now I'm stressed and confused. The supposive interview is on Monday and I have been practicing for it, but the possibility that this job offer is a scam is rattling my brain. I'm no stranger to job scams, but this one feels so well put together that I can't tell if it's a scam or legit.

2024.06.02 06:24 kileynjt "The only reason you can miss work is if you have a kid"

I'm in the middle of a really unpleasant situation at my job and wondering if anyone has any advice or words of encouragement.
The issues here started long before this but everything really kicked off last week when I was written up for being out for 2 shifts the week prior. I had strep throat and provided an excuse from my doctor, according to company policy. I have a very good attendance record. At first they claimed that no attendance policy existed and it was all up to discretion to which I printed and presented the company policy which is readily available via our Microsoft SharePoint. They had also cited me for 1 day which was approved PTO and another which I was able to prove that I worked. On-site HR refuses to speak to me about any of this and has been attempting to ignore it entirely, so last night I composed a lengthy email which contained all of my requests (that they ammend my attendance record to be accurate, provide me with a written ADA exemption for my disability, clarify attendance policy and expectations and explain to me why I'm being punished for the same actions others get away with on a constant basis) and sent it to our on-site HR, corporate HR and both supervisors present during my disciplinary meeting.
Today, when I arrived for my shift, I was demoted by my supervisor. When I asked why, I was told that it was due to my actions and that the only reason that exists to miss work without getting disciplinary action "is if you have a child". I do not have a child; I am in fact, infertile. I was under the impression that Family Status was a protected class in my state, but it seems it may only be in housing situations. My supervisor refused to elaborate in any way, stated to me that i "should've let this go", "just taken the write up and moved on". He stood up and left the room while I was speaking, effectively ending the meeting and refusing to engage any further.
I don't know how to handle this anymore. My supervisor was extremely hostile towards me during our meeting today. I work a night shift and do not see any upper management or office staff due to my start time. I've been documenting absolutely everything including recording the audio from all the meetings I have here (one party consent state) and I have 2 job interviews on Monday, but I don't know if there's more I can do or if i should even be as upset about this situation as I am. There are SO many details I've left out for sake of brevity. Any advice as to how to conduct myself beyond "document everything" and "follow policy to the letter" is welcomed.
Thanks for reading.

2024.06.02 06:06 justgimmiethelight It always takes me a long time to find a job and bounce back

WARNING: this is very long so if you don't want to read a wall of text feel free to skip!
It’s always been like that for me. For some reason it takes me a LOT longer than my peers to find employment. I often find myself chronically unemployed (even though I have years of experience) for a year or more. To top it off I’m autistic and suffer from severe ADHD with anxiety and depression on top of it.
After I graduated university it took me a year to find a job. Had consistent employment for almost 4 years straight until 2018. During this period I actually had a job lined up before quitting.
Fast forward to 2018. Had a job as a software developer for a well known company (no it’s not FAANG) and they paid pretty well. It was the most money I ever made in my life. Unfortunately things didn’t work out there and the work environment and culture wasn’t for me. I was placed on a team as a new dev and they barely gave me any work. After awhile I hated going to work everyday cause everyone basically just ignored me and I spent most of my time self studying on my own. I found this job through their autism to work program. Before accepting the job I was told that I’d get support and accommodations with a mentor.
My “mentor” was basically useless. She didn’t do a damn thing and would cancel our one on one meetings half the time. Sometimes she wouldn’t even tell me at the last minute. She just never showed up. All she did was report negative feedback from my manager and provided no solutions or recommendations to improve. I was let go cause they felt like I “needed a lot of hand holding” lol. They barely gave me work to do. I would finish my assignments in a day or two max. They made some other bullshit complaints too. I showed up on time and did what I had to do every time. It was awful. I was far far away from home and lived out of state at the time also.
Lost my apartment and had to move back home with my family. Long term unemployment stint #1 begins here (if you don’t count how long it took me to find my first job you can say 2)
Fast forward to September 2019 and a friend recommended me a job as a software developer and finally moved out again. I taught myself HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP to the best of my ability. I was not only learning on the job but maintained their website, ran chron jobs, and troubleshooted issues with site functionality and even the web server. I was literally a one man show and to top it off was working for $15/hour. My boss was a prick and would sometimes short my coworker and me money on our checks. My coworker handled all the marketing and promotion. I handled everything related to the website.
Fast forward to June 2020. Of the two of us unfortunately I was the one laid off for whatever reason. My boss just called and said that they’re laying me off right in the middle of COVID. Since I wasn’t working I could no longer afford rent so I had to move back home. Then became super depressed and it took me a little over a year to find a job.
Fast forward to August 2021 and I found a job at a call center. Ended up getting fired and it was my fault sadly. Got fired for yelling and hanging up on a customer. That day I was in a really bad mood and the person on the other line started cursing me out and getting real disrespectful with me. I was happy to be fired. Worked there for only two weeks.
Four months later in December 2021 I landed a job that was closer to home but another shitty call center. Surprisingly I lasted there a year and a half. My mental health was already in the toilet and doing everything I could to hold onto this job for dear life so I sucked it up until I found another job. I wanted to get out that call center so badly since it was nothing but micromanagement and back to back calls.
June 2023 rolls around and I finally started my job in desktop support as a contractor. Offer letter said 6 month contract then when I read it found out it was a 3 month contract to hire and also found out that they shorted me a dollar on the agreed pay rate. I asked for $30/hour and they agreed to it only to find out they changed things last minute. Spoke to the recruiter about the discrepancies and was told that’s the best they can do so I said screw it and took it.
My recruiter told me that they would “definitely” be converting me at the end of the three months but sadly that never happened. I showed up on time everyday and did a good job according to my manager and everyone else (so they said). I even got good reviews from a number of clients I worked with. About two months in I noticed things began to go south. Had a small disagreement and misunderstanding with my manager on a ticket she said I messed up on for whatever reason. Long story short she said the ticket was urgent when nowhere on the ticket said there was a deadline and she made a huge stink about it. Not only did I receive few tickets to begin with but I had to share the one or two tickets I had with a bunch of interns so I barely had anything to do. My other coworkers had more tickets than me yet would rarely put the interns with them. It was always with me which in my head made no sense. I get a call from the recruiter saying that they’re ending my contract early. During the call I asked why and they said it was due to “performance reasons”. At that point I had two weeks left. I worked one of those weeks then one morning left the building during a meltdown. Left my badge, laptop and all their property on the desk and didn’t say a word to anyone. Been looking for work ever since. Sent out hundreds of resumes and so far only had 2 interviews which led to nothing despite both of them saying I did well and they liked me.
Hundreds of applications later and here I am with no job. I’m still looking for work and decided to also start a small business in the meantime. I started a month ago and only had 2 clients so far. Still no luck with applications. I’m 35 now and had to move back home during the pandemic and been here ever since after living on my own for years.
I’m very thankful and grateful for my mother. She’s the only reason why I’m not homeless. Everyday I think about suicide and I’m reaching a point where I might actually go through with it.
I’ve always been behind in life and feel like I progress slower than my peers. Deleted my social media cause I found myself comparing myself to my former classmates and friends achieving the things I tried so hard for and failed miserably.
I also suck at everything I do. After 1300 hours in valorant I only peaked at Gold 2. I’m the worst in my friend group like with every video game and sport. At one point I even paid for a few Valorant coaching lessons which IMO didn’t think were that great. I was always picked last in gym class. At my first job I was the last one to receive an offer to convert full time and the people that joined way after surpassed me despite having good metrics and being top of the leaderboard several times for several weeks.
Honestly at this point I’m ready to give up on life. Feels like I was destined to be a failure. I always felt like my efforts don’t pay off for anything. I failed my career. I failed in dating. I failed in my hobbies. Now I know you shouldn’t compare yourself to others but when I’m the only one I know of in my situation it’s damn near impossible not to. I’m not gonna act like I have the worst life ever but I don’t know of ANYONE my age struggling like this.
Every time I think I’m building momentum some bullshit always happens and every time it feels like I’m knocked back to square one. Feels like building a house that’s in a tornado zone only for my foundation to be knocked to pieces every time and cant afford to move.
I’m just frustrated with life and everything at this point. I hate everything about myself and seriously can’t wait to die. I’d pay someone to kill me. I’m crying while writing this thesis paper of a post. Maybe there’s something very wrong with me. I think I’m slow and stupid. Maybe even borderline retarded. I’m the failure of all failures. Nothing but a talentless garbage can loser bum.
Don’t know what to do. I don’t wanna go back to the hospital but I may have to. Thanks for reading my rant. I needed to get this out since I have no one to talk to.

2024.06.02 02:23 GoodGoodNotTooBad Investors, worried they can’t beat lawmakers in stock market, copy them instead

Washington Post article said investors want lawmakers to have to disclose their stock market trades, that way average Americans can follow the money and what they know. Article below:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/06/01/congress-stock-trading-trackers-pelosi/
Members of Congress hear a lot of secrets: classified briefings, confidential previews of pending legislation and the private opinions of constituents, regulators, corporate executives and world leaders.
Watchdog groups have long believed that some lawmakers use that information to make money in the stock market. Now a loose alliance of traders, analysts and advocates is trying to let Americans mimic the trades elected officials make, offering tongue-in-cheek financial products — including one named for former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and another that refers to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) — that track purchases and sales after lawmakers disclose them.
Collectively, these investment vehicles have attracted hundreds of millions of dollars. At times, congressional investigators have used them to keep tabs on suspicious trading activity, according to people familiar with these investigations who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media.
“Our mission isn’t to make everyone millionaires — it’s actually to highlight the hypocrisy of congressional trading in an effort to bring more transparency and trust back into our government,” said Christopher Josephs, the founder of Autopilot, an app that allows ordinary investors to mimic the trades of leading politicians, top hedge funders and other famous traders. “Hopefully it’s helping, but our slogan is, if you can’t beat them, join them.”
Members of Congress are permitted to trade on the markets, but a 2012 law, the Stock Act, clarified insider trading restrictions for lawmakers and ramped up reporting requirements. Lawmakers are banned from trading based on material and nonpublic information they learn through their jobs and have 45 days to disclose any trades they or their immediate family members make.
Because the trackers rely on lawmakers’ legally mandated (and delayed) disclosures, they don’t allow the average American to make identical, same-day trades.
Those delays likely cut into users’ returns. That’s not the point, tracker boosters say. Their goal is to shine a light on congressional stock trading.
But the rise of these platforms is an alarming sign of distrust constituents have for their elected representatives, said Delaney Marsco, the director of ethics at the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan government watchdog group.
“A lot more people than we would like” believe lawmakers use information gained from their positions to “make significant gains to their stock portfolios,” Marsco said. “That’s incredibly damaging to the public’s trust.”

A whole new product category

The push to allow ordinary investors to mimic lawmakers’ stock trading began in 2019, when an anonymous social media account called Unusual Whales began publishing reports analyzing politicians’ financial disclosures.
The account spotlighted trades it deemed suspicious, including some lawmakers’ decisions to sell large portions of their portfolios as the coronavirus spread across the globe.
Around the same time, James Kardatzke, an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, started scraping up congressional data. In 2020, he launched one of the first websites that tracked trades disclosed by Pelosi, whose venture capitalist husband, Paul, is a successful investor. (The former speaker has long maintained that she does not personally own any stock and has no knowledge of or involvement with her husband’s investments.)
Quiver Quantitative, the company Kardatzke co-founded that year with his twin brother, Chris, offers a data platform that highlights congressional trades and potential conflicts of interest, including lawmakers’ corporate donors, proposed legislation and net worth.
Josephs’s Autopilot originated as a social investment app called Iris that aimed to make it easier for ordinary investors to mimic their friends’ trades. But after copying famous investors’ trades proved more popular, the company pivoted.
According to Josephs, investors have so far routed some $130 million through Autopilot — $60 million of which has gone toward copying Pelosi, whose portfolio ranks as one of the app’s most popular, alongside Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett.
The Autopilot portfolio that mimics trades disclosed by Pelosi posted a 45 percent gain in 2023, above the S&P 500’s 24 percent gain that year.
Quiver and Autopilot allow ordinary investors to follow lawmakers’ trades and copy them if they choose. But last year, Christian Cooper, a derivatives trader and portfolio manager at Subversive Capital Advisor, partnered with Unusual Whales to launch products to make the process even simpler.
They launched two exchange-traded funds, or ETFs — investment funds that trade like stocks — that allow everyday investors to mimic lawmakers’ investment strategies. Unusual Whales Subversive Democratic ETF (NANC) and the Unusual Whales Subversive Republican ETF (KRUZ) — whose tickers nod to Pelosi and Cruz, a member who is not a prolific stock trader but has high name recognition — hit the market in February 2023.
NANC, which invests in stocks purchased by Democratic members of Congress, outperformed the overall U.S. stock market from its inception through April 30 of this year, according to an independent analysis by Elisabeth Kashner, director of global funds research and analytics at FactSet, a financial data and technology company. KRUZ, which invests in stocks purchased by Republican members, hasn’t done as well, underperforming the overall market. KRUZ ended April with $16 million of assets versus NANC’s $78 million. But Kashner argues that those outcomes should come with a caveat.
“While NANC’s run-up has been impressive, it’s statistically insignificant, meaning that there’s a decent chance that the outperformance to date has been random,” Kashner said. “Ditto for KRUZ’s underperformance.”

A push for further change

The trackers have proved popular. But without quicker, more up-to-the-minute disclosures, investors won’t ever be able to perfectly copy lawmakers’ trades — and anti-corruption advocates will have a harder time pinning down whether a trade was problematic, James Kardatzke said.
Because of this, some members of Congress have come to believe that the decade-old Stock Act is insufficient to restore Americans’ trust that lawmakers aren’t using their access to information for profit.
The penalties for those who violate the law are minimal: Members who are late to disclose stock activity, or sales and purchases of cryptocurrencies, generally face a $200 fine prescribed by the Stock Act. Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Tex.), who failed to disclose 122 transactions valued between $9 million and $21 million in 2021 in a timely manner, paid $600 in late filing fees and corrected the record though he refused to cooperate with the review conducted by the Office of Congressional Ethics.
More problematic, in the view of ethics watchdogs and people familiar with the ethics process in Congress, is that enforcement of the Stock Act lacks teeth and relies entirely on self-reporting.
“There does not seem to be much evidence of the Stock Act being violated, but on the other hand, anyone who truly wanted to violate the Stock Act with any degree of sophistication would be able to do it simply by not reporting it on your financial disclosures,” said a person involved with ethics investigations in Congress who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive and ongoing matter.
An effort to ban lawmakers and their families from owning individual stocks stalled out after Pelosi declined to bring a bipartisan change proposal to the floor at the end of her House speakership in 2022, claiming that she didn’t have the votes to pass it.
“It’s already hard for many members to raise a family and maintain homes in two cities on their salaries,” a senior congressional aide explained of member opposition to a ban, speaking on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly. “If you make it impossible for a member’s spouse to take a job that includes stock-based compensation, that is another burden that can drive talented people away from public service.”
That has not deterred a string of unusual pairings of politicians, including Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in the House and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in the Senate, from introducing bills that would place stricter limits on congressional trading.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.), who is leaving Congress in January to run for governor, has been working closely with Rep. Chip Roy (R-Tex.) on another bill, the Trust in Congress Act, which would require members, their spouses and dependent children to put certain investment assets into a blind trust during their term.
Spanberger and Roy are strategizing how best to advance the bill and have discussed the possibility of trying to force a vote on the House floor before the end of this Congress.
“Transparency has created more questions than answers,” Spanberger said, referring to disclosures mandated by the Stock Act. “So now we have a situation where it actually looks like maybe there’s bad behavior when maybe there isn’t — or maybe there is.”
Interest in the bill ebbs and flows “based on the bad or quizzical behavior of our colleagues,” Spanberger said.
Banning lawmakers from owning stock is popular: Eighty percent of voters support a ban on stock ownership by members of Congress, the president, vice president, Supreme Court justices and their families, a poll released last year by the University of Maryland’s Program for Public Consultation found.
“There’s no reason we can’t address it,” Roy said in an interview. “It’s not going to be partisan. It’ll be split, and there will be Republicans who are for or against it and Democrats for it or against it.”
Spanberger lobbied House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), the rare member who disclosed no assets in his most recent financial disclosure report, to address the issue at the start of his speakership.
Johnson did not respond to a request for comment. “Mike understands that there’s a problem,” Roy said. “We’re just trying to work through on a bipartisan basis how we can address it.”

Insider-ish trading

Under current law, members rarely pay a real price for trading-related scandals.
The Office of Congressional Ethics concluded in 2021 that there was “substantial reason to believe” that the wife of Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) used nonpublic information obtained through her husband’s official duties to purchase stock in an Ohio steelmaker. OCE investigators found that Victoria Kelly purchased stock in Cleveland-Cliffs a day after her husband learned that Donald Trump’s Department of Commerce was set to grant trade protections to the company.
Then-Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross informed the Cleveland-Cliffs CEO on April 28, 2020, that the department’s actions would potentially help his company, prompting Cleveland-Cliffs to keep its operations in Mike Kelly’s district open. On April 29, Victoria Kelly made her first individual stock purchase in almost a year, buying between $15,001 and $50,000 in Cleveland-Cliffs stock.
But three years after the ethics office referred what some legal experts deemed a “textbook” case of trading off nonpublic information to the House Ethics Committee — the entity with the power to hold a lawmaker accountable for wrongdoing — the committee has yet to issue a determination as to whether a violation occurred. Tom Rust, the chief counsel and staff director of the committee, declined to comment on the status of the investigation. Mike Kelly’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
In a hyperpartisan environment with threadbare majorities in both chambers, the members of the House Ethics Committee have little incentive to hold other members accountable. The Senate faces even less pressure to investigate its members: It lacks an independent ethics enforcement body like the Office of Congressional Ethics, which has jurisdiction only over the House.
The Senate Ethics Committee has not issued a disciplinary sanction against a senator in over 15 years, even after a stock-trading scandal roiled the upper chamber. Sens. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) came under scrutiny at the start of 2020 after they dumped vast stock holdings ahead of the coronavirus-induced market plunge. Neither the Senate Ethics Committee nor the Justice Department, whose investigators launched probes into the stock sales, pursued charges.
The “clear exoneration by the Department of Justice affirms what Sen. Loeffler has said all along — she did nothing wrong,” a spokesperson for Loeffler said at the conclusion of the investigation, adding that “she and her husband acted entirely appropriately and observed both the letter and the spirit of the law.”
But ethics experts have argued that the problem with lawmakers’ stock trading habits goes beyond the legal issue of insider trading, noting that even the appearance of improper trading can damage the public’s already record-low trust in lawmakers and government.
Members of Congress might not clear the high legal bar for insider trading, which would require making a trade based on material, nonpublic information. But they might still trade on information that the rest of the public doesn’t have meaningful access to, said Marsco of the Campaign Legal Center.
Some members routinely engage in trades that critics see as posing actual or potential conflicts with their committee assignments, where members often are privy to nonpublic — or even classified, sensitive, privileged or otherwise restricted — information. And some have gotten a lot richer — in part due to the gains made through the stock market — during their time in office.
Several trackers have noted that Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) has in recent months disclosed trades of companies that have business before the committees he sits on. Mullin’s net worth has increased from roughly $5.9 million when he was elected to Congress in 2012 to an estimated $63.66 million today.
But Mullin’s case highlights the complexity of the issue. “Over 2 years ago, Sen. Mullin sold several of his companies,” a spokesperson for Mullin wrote in an email. “Any attempts to link an increase in net worth purely to investments outcomes, which are independently managed by a third-party operator, are completely inaccurate.”
Ideally, Mullin and other members of Congress who own stocks would put them in a blind trust, said Kedric Payne, former deputy chief counsel of the Office of Congressional Ethics, who now serves as the vice president of the Campaign Legal Center.
“That way, there’s no way for you to direct your broker to sell that defense contractor stock because you don’t even know you own it,” Payne said.
But the public’s perception of members’ conflicts of interest is the most important issue, Payne added.
“We are now at a new level where the members no longer have to be insider traders to profit — we are at a point where merely publishing what trades a member buys means the price of that stock goes up because other people are following their lead,” he said. “You have a problem that’s very hard to erase.”

[0 YoE] this resume did it for me, but I realized resume itself is not that important
This is the resume that got me an offer that I have been dreaming about, and another one which was even better and unexpected.
https://preview.redd.it/w82fo679u14d1.png?width=1700&format=png&auto=webp&s=154cd3aee443816ac5d3a8d5de1358be1948b332
However, I realized that resume itself is never enough for that magical offer letter to drop into your inbox. Resume is just your key to the room of big fat recruitment process, and that's it. You would like to put 5 times more effort into interview preperation. Your resume just need to properly include keywords, some numbers that make senseful metrics, and experiences in general.
Your resume is also important in the interview process, because the interviewer will be looking at your resume while throwing questions at you. Never put something you did not do or use into your resume. One question that you cannot answer about a thing in your resume, and you are done. Know what you put into your resume.

Hi everyone, I just applied for the Procurement BST Solutions Travel and Operations Senior Manager. This role is US based and is in Procurement, within Internal Firm Services.
I have 15 years in the travel industry with extensive experience in Hotel Management/specifically in Operations and Sales. The past 10 years I’ve been in Corporate Travel Management on the supplier side and with a Travel Management Company. My core competencies include Supplier Management, Contract Negotiations, Sourcing, Procurement Management and Global Account Management. I have my MBA with a specialization in Strategic Negotiations. I am confident that I make an impact in this role due to a combination of my experience and background. I tailored my resume and cover letter to align with the responsibilities of the role.
I don’t have a referral. Will getting referred after the fact help my chances with landing an interview?
I have been reviewing the PWC interview process and the type of questions that will be asked. If anyone can share any tips, I would appreciate it!

2024.06.02 00:32 ThrowRA_butter_ Nursing associate, manager being unfair

So I just finished my nursing associate degree and finally received my pin to be NA. I have been working at a nursing care home for 14 years now. There is another co-worker who has also finished their degree along with me, and we both applied to be nursing associate at the care home.
Now I’m have many ups and down with the matron at my workplace as well as with other staff. Attitude, bullying, etc. I would apply to other places but there is no vacancy right now.
I initially did my interview along with the other woman. Then I received a letter from them saying it is hard to choose between us so they will be trialling us for three months to see who is better and then decide. The pay is subject to the manager’s likeness to the staff as well, I know I have always been underpaid. I know the other woman gets paid more than me anyway at the moment and apparently I won’t be paid the same as her while doing the “trial”. Like why am I doing the nursing associate job if I’m not going to be paid as a NA should be.
Why is the manager making it so hard? And she literally said I’m not a nursing associate yet when I have got my pin and everything. I dont get it. Who shall I complain to? RCN? Is it worth it? I’m just thinking of leaving that job. This headache is not worth it. For the many years I have worked there, they are treating me like this.
I’m just ranting and looking for advice.

2024.06.02 00:26 tarobobateay Emily is not as much of a bitch as people make her out to be.. (kind of long but whatever)

I know people are going to come for me for this take but IMO her being a “bitch“ was totally justified MOST of the time. First of all Hannah who she seems kind of close to (could be a reach but 2 of the clues show Emily and Hannah in pictures together) tried to get with her boyfriend and tried SLEEPING with him and even at that she took that lightheartedly and ”just” pranked her (not saying that the prank wasn’t bad because it was) then a year after that her ex BEST FRIEND gets together with her ex boyfriend after she (Jess) orchestrated the whole prank (her writing the letter to Hannah and Emily saying “I can’t believe you’re doing this” as in Emily didn’t know beforehand and it being jess idea) to scare Hannah away from Mike but then doing the same?? So having that in mind she calls out Jess (justified) and then doesn’t even get supported by her boyfriend 💀 (kinda understand this one because it would probably be really uncomfortable for Matt). Jumping to the fire tower scene (pun intended) Emily screams at Matt and tells him things like “don’t think you idiot just get me outta here“m which yes may seem very harsh but that’s just how she reacts to being in a stressful situation in which she has her literal life on the line. On top of that instead of helping she gets confronted and asked about her ex (people often call her out for “cheating“ but the creators confirmed there was nothing going on between mike and Emily after their break up and she only “confessed” to it on the fire tower because she wanted Matt to help her) and if the player chooses to you can just abandon her (but yes i think we all know Matt would’ve helped her or would’ve at least tried to) then after going trough absolute hell ALL of her friends (except Sam ofc) TURN AGAINST HER and want her out of the “safe“ basement because they were panicked. Ashley who Emily cared much for (can be seen by Emily helping Ashley sit next to her but also trying to comfort hehug her and really showing that she really cares if Chris died) even pushed Mike and reassured him of thinking that the bites are infectious (I know mike shooting me is almost 100% not Ashley’s fault but as I said she made him think/ reassured him that Emily would turn into a threat) to which Mike, mind you had one of the highest relationships with Emily POINTED A GUN AT HER FACE. After mike goes away and ash tells them the bites don’t do anything Emily (100% justified) got mad because she and Sam both tried saying that a bite won’t do anything and mike and ash still insisted it would and DESERVINGLY knocked some sense into Ashley (you can hear her voice kind of breaking down to after saying “there’s no excuse for it” showing that she’s not only mad but hurt) now looking at the police interviews she can call Matt meat brain, incredible sulk etc. (only if relationship is low/ he didn’t defend her and didn’t help her on the fire tower) which is also kind of justified because in her eyes Matt (her boyfriend whom she helped on their journey to the fire tower a handful of times) left her to die. Lastly, something I noticed people who post their gameplay on YouTube get surprisingly really annoyed and mad about?? her complaining about Mike aiming a gun at her face IS 100000000%% JUSTIFIED IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?? People act like she should get over it but why would she?😭😭 Also comes to show that she didn’t only ”target” Ashley but also came for mike and would’ve probably done something if he was still in the basement. To clear things up I do think she was being mean to Matt some times but people act like she hated Matt although there were plenty of wholesome moments between the two of them which people don’t seem to care about

2024.06.01 22:51 PsychologicalLine550 On-campus Research Assistant Jobs

Hi everyone,
I'm an incoming sophomore looking to apply for lab positions through Joblink, but I have never been in a lab before. My limited lab experiences come from intro bio and chem classes. I've already applied to a few non-lab jobs like desk and library assistant positions but haven't gotten good responses, some ghosted me, and some rejected me after the interviews.
Now, I want to focus on perfecting my applications for research assistant roles. My current plan is to spend the summer doing that because when the school year starts, I have to lock in :( I have a few questions:
  1. What should I include in my cover letter to demonstrate my genuine interest in the position and make up for my lack of experience?
  2. Would it be a good idea to email the professors beforehand to inquire about the details of their research projects? This way, I could tailor my application to better fit their requirements.
  3. I don't have anyone to read and give feedback on my application so if you can do that, I would gladly compensate you for your time and help.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

2024.06.01 22:38 TheRealChad_318 AI generated episode of Impractical Jokers

Impractical Jokers Episode: "A Real Knockout"
Opening Scene:
The episode opens with the four jokers, Joe, Q, Murr, and Sal, standing in front of the camera in a bustling city park.
Joe: "Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Impractical Jokers!"
Q: "Today, we've got some insane challenges lined up for you."
Murr: "But remember, the loser faces a punishment that's gonna be a real knockout!"
Sal: "Let's get started!"
Challenge 1: "The Waiter, The Greater"
Location: A fancy restaurant.
Objective: Each joker has to be a waiter for the restaurant's customers. The twist? They have to follow the bizarre commands given to them through an earpiece by the other jokers.
Highlights:
  • Joe is tasked with bringing a customer a single grain of rice on a plate and treating it like a gourmet dish.
  • Sal has to insist that the customer orders a dessert before the main course and argue that it's a new trend.
  • Murr needs to constantly refill a customer's water glass after every sip they take.
  • Q must present the dessert menu first and only offer dishes with made-up names, describing them in an overly dramatic manner.
Laugh-Out-Loud Moment:
Sal accidentally spills water on a customer while trying to refill their glass, and the other jokers crack up as he tries to apologize profusely while still pushing the dessert-first agenda.
Challenge 2: "Survey Says..."
Location: A busy street.
Objective: The jokers must approach strangers and ask them to fill out absurd surveys with questions made up by the other jokers. The catch is they have to complete the survey regardless of the reactions they get.
Highlights:
  • Q asks a passerby if they prefer to brush their teeth with mustard or ketchup.
  • Sal inquires about the likelihood of someone wrestling a kangaroo in the near future.
  • Murr asks for people's opinions on banning the color blue.
  • Joe surveys people on how often they use their non-dominant hand to write love letters.
Laugh-Out-Loud Moment:
Joe interviews a woman who takes the survey very seriously, even elaborating on why she would prefer ketchup over mustard for brushing teeth, leaving the other jokers in hysterics.
Challenge 3: "Whispering Madness"
Location: A quiet library.
Objective: Each joker must wear a hidden microphone and whisper bizarre and often loud comments to strangers, directed by the other jokers through an earpiece.
Highlights:
  • Sal whispers loudly to a stranger that he believes books are actually edible.
  • Q tells a librarian in a hushed tone that he thinks the library is haunted.
  • Murr must repeatedly tell someone sitting next to him that he's a professional whisperer.
  • Joe whispers to a person that he can communicate with books and demonstrates by "talking" to a random book.
Laugh-Out-Loud Moment:
Murr is caught whispering to a stranger and the librarian comes over to shush him, but he insists on whispering back to the librarian about his "professional whisperer" credentials.
Punishment: "Knockout Prank"
Loser: Sal
Location: A boxing gym.
Punishment: Sal is told he has to spar with a professional boxer. However, what he doesn't know is that the boxer is in on the prank. Sal must follow ridiculous instructions given by the other jokers during the match.
Highlights:
  • Sal is instructed to keep complimenting the boxer mid-fight, saying things like, "Nice punch! Teach me that one!"
  • He has to attempt ridiculous moves like a cartwheel before throwing a punch.
  • Sal must pretend to be knocked out dramatically at random points, only to jump back up and continue.
Laugh-Out-Loud Moment:
The boxer playfully taps Sal, who performs an exaggerated and comical slow-motion knockout, falling to the ground and acting unconscious for an extended period while the other jokers laugh uncontrollably.
Closing Scene:
The jokers gather together in the boxing gym, laughing and teasing Sal about his punishment.
Joe: "That's it for today, folks! Thanks for watching!"
Q: "We hope you had as much fun as we did."
Murr: "Remember, you can catch all our crazy antics on our YouTube channel and follow us on social media."
Sal: "And don't forget, always be ready for a knockout!"
End Credits:
The end credits roll with bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage of the jokers preparing for their challenges and laughing at each other's misfortunes.

Dysfunction, Bifurcated Management and $12 Billion: A Call for Reevalution of CIRM

Longtime member of CIRM financial oversight panel resigns, citing 'surpassed tolerance limits'

By, DAVID JENSEN MAY 28, 2024 - LINK to Article: https://david293.substack.com/p/dysfunction-bifurcated-management
Editor’s note: For a look at the performance risks that CIRM has self-identified, see this item from Sunday. https://open.substack.com/pub/david293/p/from-ceo-to-financial-risks-in-californias?r=2vqap&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email
A nearly 20-year veteran of the only state body charged with financial oversight of California’s $12 billion stem cell and gene therapy agency has resigned, calling for a fundamental reexamination of the program's structure and governance.
”I don’t think this train runs on the track any longer. I really don't….They got to figure out how to give us a new engine,“ said Jim Lott, a member of the Citizens Financial Accountability Oversight Committee (CFAOC), in an interview.
Lott has served longer on the CFAOC than any individual has worked at CIRM or served as its chair, president or board member.
“I support the purpose and goals of the voter-approved initiatives that established and reauthorized the agency and its efforts. However, my growing disenchantment with its governance, organization and leadership structures has surpassed tolerance limits,” Lott said in his brief, March 20 resignation letter.
Lott is an organizational psychologist who has held senior positions in the California hospital industry for decades. He also spent 11 years as a health policy expert with the California Legislature. In a telephone interview yesterday with the California Stem Cell Report, Lott shared his perspective on the state’s research funding program.
He said it is time for a major reevaluation of CIRM’s structure. Lott cited dysfunction and a “bifurcated administration” at CIRM, which will be 20 years old this fall. In many ways, his comments echo longstanding critiques of CIRM from years ago, including studies financed by the agency itself. At one point early in its history, one board member called CIRM’s dual executive arrangement a “dog’s breakfast.”
“The management structure may have been ideal for the launch,” Lott said, declaring that it is time to “examine the governance and management structure and look to see if there's any type of reset that would make it continue to work well.”
“No one owns it…because it's a voter-approved partnership. And so everybody just kind of stands by and looks to see how it does, how it goes. But the level of dysfunction that happened with the last president/CEO leaving abruptly the way she did (last November) and the discord in the office” is less than healthy.
“The organization may have outlived the blueprint that was needed to get it launched successfully and now needs to mature to an organization that can operate efficiently.”
CIRM is legally controlled by a 17,000-word ballot initiative that was narrowly approved by 51 percent of the voters in 2020. The measure saved the agency from financial extinction after it ran through the $3 billion approved by 59 percent of the voters in 2004 when they created CIRM.
The hyped-filled, 2004 campaign raised voter expectations that miraculous cures were just around the corner. CIRM has yet to finance a stem cell treatment that is available to the general public. However, it has helped to fund 106 clinical trials, the last stage before a treatment is approved for widespread use. A clinical trial does not guarantee approval. Nine out of 10 conventional treatments entering a trial fail to win approval. And stem cell and gene therapies are not conventional.
“I am somewhat disappointed,” Lott said, by the lack of treatments. “I also understand what it takes for this to happen, for the real cures to happen. So I'm not blasting or criticizing them for not having that….but the public probably has less patience than I do.”
“The way the organization operates was done by the initiative process, which arguably is not the best way to set up and organize and manage a large organization,” Lott said. He pointed out that changes in the law can be made only through another ballot measure or a super, super-majority vote of both houses of the legislature and the governor’s signature.
“Do we really need to continue to have this bifurcated administration between the governing body and the executive branch of the organization? ….We've got a chair and a vice chair who are highly paid, which is another issue.
“Do we really need to continue that model going forward? Do we really need to have a governing board-driven organization as opposed to a management-driven organization?”
CIRM governance and its large, 35-member board have come under fire in the past. CIRM paid the National Academy of Medicine $700,000 in 2012 to make recommendations about its work. The academy recommended major revisions in the role of the board and the chair and vice chair to take them out of management roles. But the board -- then only 29 members -- did not welcome that proposal.
(See also “CIRM's Worst Enemy? Maybe Prop. 71/The ballot measure that created the agency brought with it 'a kind of schizophrenia,' says its president” from 2007.)
If another ballot initiative is proposed when CIRM’s current funding runs out, Lott said he will vote no unless changes have been made.
The CFAOC meets in public session Wednesday at 10 a.m. The meeting is available via telephone. The agenda includes a performance audit financed by CIRM that identified problems ranging from employee morale and an excessively large governing board to pay inequality and royalty income issues.
The agenda does not include a report by CIRM that says it faces risks including high-level management changes, a poor financial environment for biomedical start-up businesses and high interest rates. The public can participate using the instructions found on the agenda.

(From The Article): "CIRM has yet to finance a stem cell treatment that is available to the general public." However, it has helped to fund 106 Clinical Trials - https://www.cirm.ca.gov/clinical-trials/ the last stage before a treatment is approved for widespread use." ...Actually, typically, a successful stem cell treatment is approved if efficacy is proven after Phase 3 of the clinical trial. In my check of the 106 funded Clinical Trials by CIRM, only (7) were Phase 3...That's less than 7%!...As a FIRST priority, I would urge CIRM to consider funding the MOST PROMISING Phase 3 trials...And, to increase that field of MOST PROMISING Phase 3 trials, I would urge CIRM to consider imposing LESS restrictions upon the trial sponsor that requires them to have ties to CALIFORNIA...Might these new proposed priorities, help see CIRM succeed, where it has not before?...Finally, a stem cell treatment that is avialable to the general public...With the help of CIRM!...Thank You!...John Redaelli

2024.06.01 22:15 Karissa36 Senator Tuberville blocks all federal judge appointments and other GOP responses to verdict.

https://twitter.com/SenMikeLee/status/1796600766691672394
You may recall that Senator Tuberville previously blocked all nominations for an extended period of time, because the military was violating the Hyde Amendment by facilitating abortions. Basically, the Committee comes to a complete stand still as soon as one member demands individual interviews of each candidate, instead of agreeing to just rubber stamp the Biden list of recommendations. Tuberville held out around 8 months last time from what I recall. At this point, I think that Biden is done appointing federal judges.
The other steps listed will depend on how many GOP members of the House and Senate that they can convince to join. The initial letter had 8 Senators. Other GOP members have been joining enthusiastically since then, but I am waiting for someone to compile a comprehensive list. At a minimum, it appears that Biden or the democrats' odds of passing further legislation are quite challenging.
Interestingly, they also intend to cut off future funds to the Biden White House, stopping the already many many millions of taxpayer dollars they have spent on lawfare against Trump. Most of this was paid to big private law firms to assist the prosecutors. Judge Cannon recently released a treasure trove of discovery proving the White House's extreme involvement in that case, including paying outside law firms to assist. Now the GOP is vowing to stop it, with quite likely tens of millions in outstanding legal fees, that Biden will have to pull from other pet projects to pay.
The separation of powers is working as intended. Congress has the power of the purse to reign in a tyrannical despot. "No more money" works as well with Presidents as it does with teenagers. Have faith in the process.

2024.06.01 21:51 Contract007 I found a way to connect all of it

Let's start here: https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CHRG-106hhrg74430/html/CHRG-106hhrg74430.htm
This is a joint U.S Congress and DEA meeting in the late 90s-2000 to discuss political influence swaying potential criminal investigations featuring one of Drake's very own father figures, J Prince.
This is a very long meeting with lots of dialogue, but here are the most important pieces of information to consider:
This summer, we heard about an investigation of drug trafficking in Houston, TX. There was an investigation involving a man named James Prince. He owns a record company called Rap-A-Lot. He and his associates were believed to be large-scale drug dealers. This investigation produced more than 20 convictions. There were allegations that political pressure was brought to bear, and the Drug Enforcement Administration killed the investigation.
In July, the staff was briefed by the head of the DEA's Houston field office, Mr. Earnest Howard. Mr. Howard assured the staff that the DEA's investigation was active and ongoing. He was very convincing, so we didn't pursue the matter any further.
Then, in October, we were told there were e-mails that contradicted what we were told.
This leads to an interesting conversation about how the investigation was tampered with:
The e-mails flatly contradicted what Mr. Howard told us. We have a March 14 e-mail from Mr. Marshall to DEA headquarters in Washington. He states, ``I understand that the situation involving Rap-A-Lot and James Smith, a.k.a. James Prince, has only gotten worse. To eliminate any further difficulty in this matter I have decided that the Houston division will curtail any enforcement against this subject.'' He concludes by saying, ``at any rate, it is over; and we are closing our case on Prince.'' The next day Mr. Howard sent another e-mail to Washington. This one states, ``now we bow down to the political pressure anyway. It is over now. The Houston division will terminate all active investigation of Rap-A-Lot except for those persons who have already been arrested or indicted.''
Not only was the investigation stopped, J Prince was also involved with the actual police force within Houston and leveraged his political support:
Last month, we interviewed several local Houston City policemen. They were assigned to a joint investigation of Mr. Prince with the DEA. They told us that they were removed from the case about a month after the Congresswoman's letter arrived. They told us they were called to a meeting with Special Agent Howard, the head of field office. Mr. Howard told them that the investigation was over, and he cited the Congresswoman's letter.
The meeting calls forth witnesses, and Congress sent out subpoenas to the DA, DEA members involved as the information they received did not match with the investigation at hand.
This led to an example of the power J Prince has in that community:
Discussing Mr. Prince, Mr. Burton further stated, ``he gives a million to a church, the Vice President goes to that church, and 2 days later somebody says they are closing the case. Something is wrong. They're blocking us because I think they're afraid that this might be an embarrassment to the Vice President.''
Now the actual hearing is incredibly long, I did not read through all of it but I encourage people to do so because it might go into more depth into Jay Prince's history.
I bring this all up because everything we found so far is connected in some way:
a) How Drake got involved with Birdman and J. Prince
a1. This investigation took place between late 1990s (1998 - 1999) to when the actual meeting happened in 2000, the same time frame that Birdman said J Prince didn't have the structure to support Cash Money Records and went to universal which potentially started the feud between Jay Prince and Birdman.
a2. J Prince's feud with Birdman was over his son finding Drake and bringing him to Cash Money, only to never get fully compensated and he even went as far as threatening his children with Lil Wayne being referred to as Birdman's "other son".
This prompted Birdman to settle it out of court for $11,000.000.
a3. Despite Lil Wayne's issues with Birdman and Birdman's issues with J Prince, Drake was the biggest profit margin for both of them including UMG.
Drake had earned YM and UMG an insane amount of money with both his Views + Scorpion catalogue before he left YM in 2018 and started OVO with UMG. This means he still has Birdman's support.
Jay Prince and his son were executive producers on Thank Me Later, Nothing Was The Same, and other projects and were entitled to 33% of profits from these albums. This means that he still has Jay Prince's support.
And UMG profited from all of it including the current OVO/Gamma branch, leading to his support from Lucian Grange himself.
a) Conclusion: Despite a public J Prince/Birdman feud and contract disputes, Drake has the support of two very dangerous gangstetrafficking entities in Hip Hop along with the biggest musical entity, UMG through his early deals with them.
b) How Trafficking is connected to the industry and Drake
b1. Birdman was Jay Prince's protégée, he took after him in many ways and even began associating with our friend Sabah Nissan who has a history with trafficking overseas, notice how it says #OceanDrive. The same Ocean Drive where Nissan met Diddy who provided him connections to the music industry.
Nissan also is connected to DJ Khalid who is a Global Creative Consultant at UMG, another connection into the music industry.
b2. The Nissan family can be seen with stars like Future, Lil Uzi, and even Ariana Grande. But the most important of them all is the 69 god himself, Drake and Drake even attended their bar mitzvah. (Go read https://www.reddit.com/usePractical-Major-9814/ posts about it, he broke down the Nissan story one by one before he was threatened to stop.)
b3. The Drake-Nissan connection goes deeper where Drake's right hand man co-owned a hotel with Nissan as well as the Jungle Security which coincidentally was scrubbed from the internet after we exposed it.
b4. The most interesting situation is a drug called 2C or "Tusi", which Nissan's family has commented under pictures which Drake has also referenced in tracks like "Toosie Slide" and even bars where he mentions the exact drug as well.
It's other name is "Pink Cocaine", which Diddy is involved in having trafficked which goes back to his earlier connection with Sabah Nissan.
b5. Aside from Drug trafficking, Drake is also implicated with J Mulan and DJ Eric who host controversial clubs that traffic girls for celebrities. Coincidentally this is found in Houston, the same place J Prince operates and has a control of.
b) Conclusion: There is no picture or video evidence of Drake's direct involvement which is why EP is so interesting and why there hasn't been a public case against him, but what we did find long paper trail that implicates himself, his LLCs along with connections from within the OVO camp that not only acknowledges but at times is directly involved with trafficking of drugs and sex with the people facilitating it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I missed anything or messed up, please let me know and i'll edit it.
But so far this is my research and the connections I was able to make.

2024.06.01 21:24 nonetodaysu The scam fake recruiters are now pretending to be lawyers. I'm impressed. That takes guts.

So as you all know there are lots of scams now. They post a job and then pretend to be a recruiter and ask you to download Telegram and Whatsapp for the interview.
But today I got a response from a "recruiter" which is clearly a scam. But they're using the name of a legitimate law firm. The scammers are getting more confident and aggressive than ever.
They sent an email and then I clicked on a google doc and there was this.
We have received your application for the job ad and have looked over your resume. The job description is below. The post is still open, however it will be a somewhat different one as a virtual or personal assistant.
My name is (NAME OF A REAL LAWYER). As an investor in human capital and philanthropist, I manage a network of established commercial relationships with a variety of firms both domestically and internationally. My schedule requires the function of an Assistant due to a recent engagement and subsequent business development. This will help me leverage my workload to guarantee timely service delivery, pay attention to items of concern, and avoid excessive backlogs and ignored briefs.
The sensitivity of this position warrants the officeholder to be upright, responsive, accountable, trustworthy, emphatic, persevering, honest, and willingly ready to go the extra mile.
· Receiving Phone Calls from my clients. · Making Regular Drop-offs at FedEx Stores for letters meant for my clients. · Basic wage is $650 weekly. Working to 5 hours Daily, and 4 Days weekly. (You can choose your working hours for more flexibility)
Due to my frequent travels, I now have an extremely active schedule. As such, this is a remote work from home role rather than an office position. For now, it's part-time employment from home. I'm currently away for some property surveys in the Caribbean Islands of North America to do property surveys. I will return in three weeks. I thus require an assistant to take care of household matters for me, which happens rather frequently. I need someone with strong communication skills who can respond to emails promptly.
This is only an explanation; as time goes on, we should be able to set up a formal meeting for when I arrive. If you'll be available to me, I do have some tasks you could assist me with this week. We may get our working consanguinity off to a solid start if you accept the offer.
PLEASE SEND THE REQUESTED INFORMATION BELOW TO ME BY EMAIL:
[NAMEOFREALLAWER1@gmail.com](mailto:NAMEOFREALLAWER1@gmail.com)
DO CONFIRM ACCEPTANCE OF THIS POSITION BY PROVIDING THE BELOW DETAILS. DECLINE THE OFFER BY NOT REPLYING, OR SAYING NO. PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM REQUIREMENT BELOW :
*FULL NAME: *MAILING ADDRESS WITH APT/UNIT # : (ONLY FOR MAILING PURPOSES) *CITY, STATE & ZIPCODE : *MOBILE & HOME PHONE#: *PRESENT JOB: *HOW SOON ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO START?
KINDLY COMPOSE A NEW EMAIL AND SEND ME THE INFORMATION REQUESTED ABOVE OR IF ANY QUESTIONS TO [NAMEOFREALLAWER1@gmail.com](mailto:NAMEOFREALLAWER1@gmail.com)

2024.06.01 21:09 oldmick Potentially being let go from company because I use a cane to get around...

I recently started a job (Monday) for a Distribution Company on the west coast. During my interviews with the recruiter, she was informed that I used a cane to get around as I have nerve damage in my legs post covid. When I had my in person panel interviews at the company, I used my cane to get around and it was propped up next to me throughout the interview. Nothing was said or asked about regarding it, instead we just focused on my experience and time in the industry.
After being there for a week, mostly doing night work for a network cutover, I received a phone call from my recruiter asking me if I needed the cane to get around. I confirmed I did and that there had been no on the job accident that necessitated the cane. She said that we were good to go and hung up. Later last evening, she called back and asked me to get documentation for my cane use from my GP. I asked why and she essentially told me that she couldn't let me back into the warehouse without the documentation for my accommodation.
I'm not asking for an accommodation. I'm not asking anyone to walk slower, drive slower or excuse me from climbing on a scissor lift. I can and have done all those things this week. I'm also in the IT dept, so the vast majority of my day is sitting in a chair and typing... I was not drug tested or given a physical prior to my offer letter, which I also thought was strange.
To make matters worse, because of the state of American employment practices at this time, for my first 90 days with the company, I work for the recruiters company and not the Distribution Company itself, where I can be terminated for any reason. Do I literally have a leg to stand on ?
