I’m in the A so I don’t know if these are still a thing up top anymore but for anyone interested or into outdoor gear I can pretty much get anything marmot for the low with my discount (40% sometimes more depending on the sale) which knocks a decent bit off anything from there. Fwm 💰

2021.03.18 04:42 unclechett Looking for recs on a 4+ person tent to purchase in the upcoming REI members sale?

looking to snag a new 4-6p tent at the upcoming rei members sale, any recommendations would be much appreciated. our last tent was an rei passage 3 and loved the panoramic mesh ceiling, so that would be a huge plus. we're going to be car camping mostly in the northeastern us with a 13" high queen air mattress, so something with good clearance would be ideal. here are some of the ones i'm considering with my thoughts on each:
REI Co-op Grand Hut 4 OR 6 https://www.rei.com/product/128688/rei-co-op-grand-hut-6-tent https://www.rei.com/product/128687/rei-co-op-grand-hut-4-tent this one seems like the best value and is at the top of my list, but i'm concerned about all the negative reviews, especially with the 6. the size of the 4 would be sufficient, but i feel like i might as well drop the extra $50 for the 6. love the height and mesh top. some people mention troubles with wind, especially with the 6. some complain about poor ventilation with the rainfly on. some mention that the poles aren't up to snuff. not big on the color of the rainfly, but no biggie.
Marmot Limestone 4P Tent https://www.rei.com/product/110892/marmot-limestone-4p-tent with a peak height of 61", the lower clearance is a slight minus but doable. seems to be higher quality than the grant hut, especially considering the DAC aluminum (huge fan of my helinox chairs).
REI Co-op Base Camp 4 or 6 Tent https://www.rei.com/product/136057/rei-co-op-base-camp-4-tent https://www.rei.com/product/136058/rei-co-op-base-camp-6-tent seems solid, probably better venting with the rainfly on than the grand hut. seems more sturdy than the grand hut.
Big Agnes Big House 4 or 6 Tent https://www.rei.com/product/168527/big-agnes-big-house-6-tent https://www.rei.com/product/168526/big-agnes-big-house-4-tent the ability to use the rainfly as a standalone shade seems appealing. the lack of an included vestibule (available as an additional purchase) is not great at this price point. i would be stretching my budget with this one
