SPOILERS FOR UG1, UG2, MW, Pro-Street, Rivals, Payback, Heat and Unbound
Recently, I'd gone and marathon a whole host of NFS Games, starting with Underground, and making my way up to Unbound. I had finished Payback, and moved forward to Heat when I realized the first set of Contracts from the Black Market was called: The Collector's Gambit. Initially, I thought of it as a simple throwaway line, or a callback to the most recent game at that time: Payback. But after going through Raziel's missions, noting the story beats of Heat, and doing the Tess/Yaz Delivery missions in Unbound, something just told me there seemed to be more going on here. It got me thinking about the other ridiculous story beats in the previous NFS games, and wondered if there were any connections.
It all started when I played Rivals again, and thought: "How on Earth do the Police and Racers get these cars? There isn't a single beater or Crown Vic in sight; the Sirens on that Charger are probably worth more than my apartment". Initially just chalked it as: Need For Speed's America could be like Dubai IRL, where supercars in law fleets are the norm; but couldn't put a piece of the puzzle down: The Racers. Obviously, it could be that the Racers get their cars from a number of shady/black market dealers, but who's giving the market their supply of LFA's and Pagani's? And why do both sides of the conflict have what seem to be military-grade weaponry on what should be, civilian vehicles at most?
I decided to move on to Payback, where there were three major story beats that caught my eye: Kobashi, Arkwright, and the NUMEROUS callbacks to pervious titles. The Curator name drops the Blacklist, the Run, and other NFS events, before selling Tyler on the Outlaw's Rush. We also know that the House had hired Cross to interrogate/torture Gallo during the House's initial takeover, which led to Silver Six, but Cross backed out. Even little nods, though unconfirmed, names such as Bull and Cooper are name dropped. Palmont City was also name dropped during the Speedcross DLC's, as it was the place where Speedcross got it's legitimacy in this universe, according to Rav. Aki Kimura also makes a full-fledged reappearance from ProStreet as DK in Noise Bomb. This game makes it clear that the Ghost games universe and the BlackBox universe's are within the same canon. Okay, so what now?
One MAJOR story beat that is often overlooked, is the role that the Brands play in Payback's narrative. To quickly refresh, Payback's parts are not only based on tiered performance, but specific brands give bonuses. One of the brands in-game we know was in-bed with the House: Chidori, as it was revealed by Charlie that Chidori custom parts had been transmitting data from Holtzman's C10, Nova's BC, and Valisev's GT-R. We also know that there were specifications for civilian cars too; alongside other technological developments, such as Skyhammer and the Jammers in Police Chargers being reminiscent of Rivals' and HP Police weaponry. As well, though not stated, due to the name, and the origami logo, it's very clear that Chidori has Japanese ties. We even meet a VIP from Japan in-game, who we pick up for the house: Kobashi. All signs point to the fact that Kobashi was the one outfitting House's cars with custom Chidori parts, and getting data from them. It wouldn't surprise me if Kobashi was the CEO, or at least, a Board of Directors member of Chidori. But why go through all this trouble for data from street racers? And why would data and a wager be so significant, that Fortune Valley's most powerful people: the Collector and the Gambler, would risk it all, just to appease Kobashi? The reward of all this hoop-jumping is joining "Arkwright", is that really it?
Heat's main story revolves around the Speedhunter's showdown, and the High-Speed Task Force stealing cars from the general populace. During "Follow the Law", Ana notes that the F40 we've been tailing had been wrongfully impounded, just like her Z, and other racers' cars. The climax of the mission hits it's peak when we go inside and see a whole operation of the HSTF dismantling the cars they impound, and shipping them off somewhere. At the end of Chapter 5, we even see Frank and Torres have a chat, and judging by Frank's tone, I don't think he was talking about the Police getting to him, but rather, who he would've shipped the cars to. Outside of the mascot cars from past games, the Collector is mentioned in Heat, through the first DLC's name, likely hinting the guy is still around. Because it's not like the House dissolved fully after Payback, the Collector still managed to irk out of Lina's mess; and likely has contacts like Raziel provide the tech needed to do his contracts. We never really grasp the full scope of the Collectors influence, so for all we know, he's the League member that contracts you and gives you the DB11 to find the people responsible for taking the DB5; he does like his cars after all.
Unbounds main story beat revolves around Alec somehow restoring the Lakeshore racing scene, after allegedly 2 years after Yaz stole our car and the LSPD stepped their presence up against street racing. But, when we find the LSPD, they aren't in the greatest of shapes either. Mayor Stevenson's foundation of her campaign is to stop street racing, and provide MORE funding to the LSPD. A detail I noticed about the LSPD was that, they don't have any variation of the Corvette as the "Ace"/Heat 5 car(s). Instead, LSPD's choice of Heat 5/Ace car is the Raptor, a more utilitarian choice, compared to other PD's in the NFS universe. And speaking of more utilitarian, it can be noted that Unbound is the first game in the series that actively TELLS you how to beat the Police. Chargers have this weakness, Camaro's have this weakness, CORVETTES SUCK AT GOING OFFROAD. Note that last part, as Payback and Heat's Corvettes didn't have much issue going off-road; likely signifying whoever was providing technology to LSPD was years behind other PD's. Sure, you could chalk it up to game mechanics, but I'd like to think that LSDP's weaknesses in their cars, and the lack of Rhino's in their fleet, show that the LSPD is eons away from the rest of the Need for Speed police forces. It should be also noted that Alex was a literal who nobody, until the story mentions that someone was sponsoring him and the Lakeshore Grand, but we never meet or hear from this benefactor. Plus, why would someone want to fund something as ridiculous as the Grand, while electoral campaigns to ban the sport of racing are at an all time high?
So, how does all of this relate to Arkwright, Most Wanted, and the Butterfly effect? I believe, that ever since the BlackBox protag showed up to the scene with the M3 GTR, it revealed the major weaknesses, of not only Rockport PD, but the rest of the countries PD's. If ONE guy can come out of nowhere with a then unconceivable car who put the fear of God into Porsche; and make a mockery of a PD, who at that point, was likely the most outfitted unit in the universe, whose to say it can't happen a second, third, fourth, or even millionth time? Hence, why we see the evolution of the Police in NFS Games, from their fleets, to even their weaponry, along with a noticeable downgrade as a benchmark in the form of the Lakeshore PD. Someone had to fund all of this, and that someone also benefits from street racing, legal or illegal, reigning supreme in the country. How else can we explain ludicrous scenario's such as the Run? That's where, Arkwright, enters stage left.
The legal definition of a Cartel is a group of independent corporations or other entities that join together to fix prices, rig bids, allocate markets, or conduct other similar illegal activities. I'd like to propose that, knowingly or unknowingly, the entire NFS universe is played out so that Arkwright can use the populace to make ill-gotten gains through data collection, with cars as the scapegoat. We know from Payback that Arkwright has their hands all over Chidori. Who's to say Carbon, Nextage, Americana and Outlaw weren't in on this either? At the very minimum, we know they have prominence in manufacturing. We also don't know how long Arkwright have been gathering data on racers. Sure we catch them in Payback, but who's to say they don't have our data in-lore, by events such as the Street Festivals in Pro Street or the legal street leagues/sponsorships all the way back from UG1 & UG2? It would make sense, if Arkwright is tracking us, and developing weapons based on the actions of the MC's we play as in NFS. And with all of the car-jacking Payback, Heat, and Unbound had gotten the MC's into, who's to say they unknowingly played into Arkwright's Mouse Utopia, of re-releasing those cars back into the economy for Arkwright to make more profit of these car-jackings? Tyler and his crew certainly didn't. What if Mayor Stevenson was another part of the Arkwright scheme that would be used to corner and monopolize the market, since they've already got Alec?
And who's to say other racers aren't fighting back, Charlie and Shift Lock have taken the fight to Arkwright, the Broker now also knows of Arkwright. Who's to say that the racers in Redview County were street racing out of rebellion? We only see the story from Zephyr and F-8's eyes in Rivals, meaning we don't even know current events in Redview County, as all they care about was what was in front of them. The VRT, the racer's, the weapons in Redview County, if not fully, I suspect Arkwright had a hand in it, and the racers either rebelled; OR unknowingly took the weapons that would provide their enemy with precious data; which could be used to make even more efficient weapons in the future to combat street racers. Hence, it could be an explanation as to why ex-criminals make up some part of the Vehicle Response Team in the RPD; what better guinea pigs than adrenaline-fueled hardened criminals fighting on the open roads with weapons and cars worth cities, with zero impunity to their actions?
All this leads me to believe that, ever since the BlackBox protag and the legendary M3 burst on to the scene, it created a butterfly effect that boosted the technological advancement of weapons and law-enforcement, which in turn lead to several economies, legal or illegal, being more than ready to meet the demands of what the BlackBox protag and his beloved M3 showed the 99% & the 1% of the bond between man and machine. And in both sides of the law, Arkwright would be ready behind the scenes, encourage and discourage where needed economically and technologically, while profiting off each and every event leading up to the NFS-verse's modern day. Hell, if my theory hold some water, the M3 could've been in Unbound because it was taken from Palm City, and being shipped country wide, with Yaz and the Unbound MC being just a link in the supply chain of Arkwright's shadow economy for profit and further technological advancements.
That's more or less what I've got, and I'd love to hear from any other lore enthusiasts out there with their thoughts. There's been a lot of "more questions than answers" with modern day NFS titles; and I know it's better to turn your brain off, and just enjoy the narrative for what it is; but this kind of theory-crafting is fun for me, and seeing the little coincidences you can find in these rabbit holes is the icing on the cake. Alright. I'll ty to be brief.
Fluffy background: I am helping my mother with 'a slow pc'. It had a ~8-10 minute boot time for a laptop from 2022, meaning something was up. Removed various pieces of bloatware, ran scans, tested all hardware health and compatibility, blah blah blah. I touched nothing important because I don't want to be the tech guy when something goes wrong. The pc was actually running much better. No issues with restarting, logging in, running Chrome or Edge. A couple days later, I wanted to boot the pc in safe mode because it was still significantly slower than it should be. Maybe it would run more smoothly that way and could help in troubleshooting.
The problem: So I did. I booted it in safe mode. Oops. My mom uses the (Microsoft Recommended) PIN password, and apparently PIN password mode is bugged in safe mode. You cannot enter the pin, you cannot download the app from the windows store in order to enable you to enter said PIN. I cannot log in.
After rooting around in boot recovery menus, reading forums, finding the BitLocker recovery key, and trying solutions... I'm a bit stuck. There's no way to re-enable a normal restart. My mom, a tech illiterate who calls Chrome 'the google', has not once backed up her drive, and has maybe 8gb of stuff on her 1tb hard drive, but these are probably documents she doesn't want to lose.
It is kind of driving me nuts that, for all the potential boot options listed in the Startup Settings, they don't have any kind of regular boot option. Even more than that is that the freaking login feature is broken.
My goals here are either: 1. Enable a regular, normal boot from the bios recovery menu. After this, I would likely back up the drive and consider a fresh windows 11 install, because something isn't working right. 2. Find a way to back up information from the boot menu. Then I would be able to reinstall windows without deleting important files.
I would appreciate any suggestions, be it related to my stated problem here, old posts with a solution, or even my inability to be succinct.

And this is why it’s glaringly obvious so much is left out. Dawn had to have been wildly inappropriate with oldest, dil, granddaughter for her other son to pull the trigger because of the book. I don’t know if the car stalking was before or after but I get the feeling Dawn pushed so hard that she’d created tension across all the kids in the family. I’ve got a new grip “Mostly Vertical Grip for Mlok” it’s exactly as the title states, mostly vertical it’s got a nice slight Bend which works great for those who mostly use grips as a handstop or similar(myself included) I kinda use it half regular grip half handstop and to make it nice and grippy even when your sweaty or wet, I created a mild texture on both sides that grips well for barehands and I’m sure even better with gloves. It also has some grooves cut into the front and back for added texture. As of right now it is MLOK only but am working on a pic version as we speak.

Good ole 18650 storage tubes for b5 Sopmod stocks. These have come a long way from my first versions. My first versions worked well, but since acquiring some new hardware for my printer I’m able to print these much better which gives more room for variation in 18650 battery films. Some films are thicker than others and this varies brand to brand. When I first came out with these I had trouble fitting my USB built in streamlight 18650. It fit it was just a bit tight, now it slides right in with ease. These are water resistant and hold up well when stored in the stock. You can fit 2 standard 18650 batteries or whatever other goodies you like.
The storage tubes are $20 a piece or $30 for 2. The discount does not show up until you add 2 to your cart.

So I got a straight barbell septum retainer and just assumed only one ball screwed off, making it at least somewhat more difficult to lose. However, I just lost one of the balls on the side I assumed was solid but found it a few minutes later. However, I'm fairly certain I'm screwed with this piece of jewelry. Is it normal for both balls to be able to come off? It would make sense for one side to be solid.

Background: I am in Illinois, the company I'll be referring to is in Indiana. In August 2023 a windstorm blew down part of a large tree that landed in my driveway/back yard and crushed the corner of an existing above ground pool that was part of the property when I purchased it. I had "Exterior Structures Coverage" on my homeowners insurance because of the pool and detached garage, so I filed a claim that was paid out in April 2024. This is an expensive above ground pool, retail cost is probably $35-40k brand new including installation labor.
As part of the insurance claim, I paid for the manufacture/installer to send someone out to generate an estimate. When he was here, he found some additional issues the insurance adjuster missed, which helped my claim go through but he said that the pool was repairable, and that most of what was there was still salvageable. The estimate totaled about $23k, and they gave me credit for what I paid for the estimator to drive 6hrs one way from their office, as well as a couple other discounts. When I received the check from the insurance, I paid my balance and had the parts delivered. I was told during the initial estimate that there could potentially be 2-3 more parts that had to be ordered, but that they couldn't know until the pool was taken apart, as the pieces in question were underground.
On May 19th 2024, the installation crew arrives to begin the repair. They get about 1/3rd of the way through dismantling the pool, and inform my wife that they don't have all the necessary parts to complete the job, and pack up and leave. The parts list that the installer sent out was pretty much "the rest of the pool" and when I received the updated estimate today, it's for another $8k, $2000 of which is "teardown of existing pool" which was always something they were going to have to do and they were well aware of that when they gave me the initial estimate.
My issue is that I have already maxed out my "Exterior Structures" coverage on my insurance, and I do not have an additional $8k to just drop on pool parts. If the initial estimate had included everything I would probably have never started this process with them in the first place. I would have claimed the damages to the pool for loss of value, and used the claim for other home improvements and just removed the pool myself.
So I currently have ~$13k in pool parts taking up space in my garage, with ~$8k in paid labor that I haven't received, looking at another ~$6k in parts and ~$2k in labor. It feels like extortion at this point. I'm planning on emailing their installation manager to see if they can work with me on the price, either by them covering some of the parts, or dropping the labor charge and allowing me to finance the rest. If they won't do that, I'm going to be asking for a full refund and for them to come collect the delivered materials at their cost.
My question is, if they come back and say "No we won't cut you a break on the 2nd estimate even though it's our fault, and we won't refund you and pick up the materials" what recourse do I have? I'm already not in a position to drop $8k, and that also means I'm not in the financial position to afford a long, drawn out legal fight if there isn't a chance that I will get my money back and potentially my legal fees covered. $20k is a lot of money for me, but it's not worth fighting if I'm going to spend $15k trying to get it back.

 | This is my African dwarf frog that I’ve had for about 6 months maybe. Two days ago, I found him in the hallway outside my room and he hopped behind a piece of furniture. We ended up finally catching him after maybe 5 minutes (a long, very scary 5 minutes) but I honestly don’t know how he was able to get out or how long he was out for. He’s seemed okay since then but yesterday I noticed what looked like shed happening. I know they do it frequently but I’ve never seen it on him and I know it usually comes off in one piece. Again today he managed to get into the back part of my tank that’s separate from the main part (where the filtration is). I looked it up and it seems he might have some sort of fungus with him trying to escape recently. We used a 3-1 hydrogen peroxide diluted solution and gently dabbed that onto his body. I decided to take her back after we talked for a while, things were getting better communication wise. Now I’d like to add, although my girlfriend and I are very transparent with our passcodes and what not, I usually don’t dig deep into her devices as I have a blind trust I put into her. Fast forward to now, we started having some sex issues (we don’t have it as much and intimacy is one of my love languages I like to enjoy with my partner to make them feel loved) and I voiced my concerns, she states she has issues down there which lead to pain for her which is valid and she claims that our penetrative sex hurts her most of the time, it’s difficult for her to get wet but it’s not impossible, and even if she is wet it’s still painful. I then checked her email and found out that during our talking period (2 months in) she created a bumble account and bought a profile boost to get more attention to her profile. She claimed she was only using it for followers too but that I shouldn’t be mad anyways because we were not exclusive to each other then. I’m very hurt any advice on what to do in this situation? She has since then deleted 500+ of her followers and admitted to having a validation issue due to her having a bad social life as a pre teen and not getting enough attention due to being obese as a kid. I've been trying to research how this is typically done in Unity.
Here's an example use case of what I mean: A game features mechs. The player can customize their mech. The mech has 5 parts. Head, torso, arms, legs, weapon. So when creating their character they can choose between 10 sets of different arms.
How would you go about making a system where the different parts models can be swapped in and out? The only detailed example I could really find was for character armor. All of the armor pieces were added to the character prefab, then each one was enabled/disabled in order to display the right armor pieces that matched the player's inventory. The part I am not sure on is how they handled animation. I'm assuming that attaching the armor pieces to the bones and then aligning them visually with the base character mesh would work.
Is this typically how this is handled by Unity devs or are there more elegant ways to go about this vs having to add in all the customizable models to every character in the game?

What's the deal?
I understand transitioning everything to UE5 is going to make some things different, just wasn't expecting for the worse.
Worst of all is the UI. Doesn't seem to work half the time and a lot of features that were great were removed from the beta.
As someone with many hours played in the beta, here's some things I've noticed suck now:
The UI is super buggy. After a match, pressing Yes or No to a rematch does absolutely nothing. You just have to sit and wait out the timer (which is way to long btw)
The menus are as convoluted as the new currency systems.
Speaking of, the new currency systems have way to many different things that are not very well explained as to what they're for or how to obtain them (maybe I'm missing something)
The Badge system doesn't even show me what the badges are for anymore, nor do they show the value they represent unless you're in the pregame lobby and everyone is already ready to go, at which point you have about 4 seconds to check those badge stats. Can't check them in the main menu where you put them on for some reason.
Don't get me started on the Rift PvE mode. Lackluster and boring as all hell. Feels like a cheap mobile knockoff of Smash Bros mini games when I'm not in an actual battle, which accounts for what feels like a third of the progression in the Rift Mode.
Earning gems is confusing and not well explained at all.
Certain match quests in the Rift mode require you to have a specific (often paid) character OR paid character with a specific paid Skin in order to even attempt. Shame.
The store doesn't even have said skins or characters available for purchase so we just have to wait and hope we catch the rotation of that item in the shop, pay money for it, then we can get 1 extra point for the Rift mode? Nice try. (i.e. Harley's Joker Tee Skin which isn't even available anywhere that I can find)
The Career tab doesn't track half the things it used to for some reason. Only tracks my 2v2 and 1v1 casual win rate and account level.
There are so many things about this full release that feel like this is the beta and the beta was the full release. Not sure what happened here tbh. I loved this game and was so hype for today when it launched. What a disappointment.
I hope you all listen to your player base and every single piece of feedback you get. Day one with more issues than the beta is a big problem. I'm sure Warner Bros have a lot to do with this as well, but these technical issues should not be a problem, especially in the day and age where devs and publishers seem to think releasing a full game on day one full of bugs and issues is okay.
Hopefully these issues get fixed asap but as it stands, this game is not very good.
All that said, the actual fighting and gameplay feels relatively fine, though I do have some grievances there also, it's at least playable (for the most part) but playable shouldn't be acceptable on day one of your launch.

I am a 25 year old male and I did something in my teens, which destroyed my mental health to the point where I would contemplate suicide.
I am well aware and have this basic principle drilled into my skull, which is that if you have done something horrible and disgraceful, you no longer have the rights and privilege to express any kind of emotions or explain the reasons as to why something happened. In fact the only emotions you can express is regret and remorse all so that it can serve to lessen the pain of the people who have been hurt. If you were to express or explain anything that is irrelevant in service to others such as your own point of view which led you to that point, then people will throw rocks at you and look at you with disgust. In other words all you can do is either take on full responsibility in silence even if it crushes you flat and live with your head low for the rest of your life in shame never to reach any form of happy experiences or continue the destructive path reminiscent to hell itself like a wild animal screeching and wailing as you do more harm to both yourself and others, until someone is robbed of everything or receives death as punishment. At that point the abyss has shown its terrifying face to you and all you can do is look at it in silence as every piece of you crumbles bit by bit straight into the ground.
I stole a bit over £20,000 in the span of 6 years from my own mother.
It started one day when she showed off how much she has saved in cash, as she would spread the money on the kitchen table and tell me to count it all, since she was either too low on energy or couldn't be bothered.
It made me wonder why is it that she isn't keeping most of her money in the bank, and instead in a wallet that would be placed inside the drawer next to her bed or underneath her mattress. I thought to myself, how easy it would be to take little from it in a way that would not be noticed, but I was too naïve as that would only work in short term. I went ahead of myself and did it long term, which fucked me up and strained our relationship.
I used it mostly on Gacha games and some of it on Euro Millions lottery tickets. In the end I was not only bad at the gacha games, but I did not win anything substantial from the lottery tickets.
It basically went from my mother's hard earned money to my gullible mind with intrusive thoughts to someone else's bank account. In return my mother lost that money, because of me and I received temporary cheap dopamine. Even if I wanted to sell the gacha game accounts, It is pretty much impossible, since it is not a physical object and nobody will pay that much for a gacha game account that is not part of the more played gacha games. Alternatively it would've been better if it was trading cards, since those can be sold for quite a lot and you won't have to deal with scammers who pose as buyers.
I was also a NEET for 4 years, which it does not paint a good image on myself. I did at least cook, wash the dishes, do laundry, clean the floors and help with carrying groceries.
However, one day things pretty much blew up and we got in a very serious argument/confrontation. Which resulted in me being told that I will become homeless and I have to figure things out for myself. Then I decided to go back to my father who was a complete POS due to him sexually assaulting and abusing both of us, which really crushed me, as my mother has always placed me under parental alienation. I said to myself that at this point I might as well jump off a high place, since I am screwed either way.
Option 1 - Homelessness and never getting better
Option 2 - Jumping off a high place
Option 3 - Staying with my father whose existence is like Voldemort to me
I chose option 3 and lived on egg shells for half an year until I decided to lie myself out of there.
My mother proposed a deal which is to go live separately in a house next to my grandparent's house. In return I have to give a few hundred every month, maintain the cleanliness of the house, help my grandparents with anything and give free labour on weekends to my uncle. As well as save money to finish a building behind my grandparent's house.
One year later after the deal, I am here...
I was supposed to go through a Formal Autism Diagnostic Assessment in the UK through the NHS, as my GP thought it would be a good idea to get checked, but that was thrown out of the window the moment I had to go back to my home country.
I couldn't even finish my education as I was way too stupid for a bachelor's diploma. A degree is completely out of my league.
At least now I know that I am even a bigger POS than my father and no matter what I do it will never be enough. I am screwed either way and this is not even the whole picture.
I have no real life friends or online friends and don't even see the point of relationships.
I was diagnosed with ADHD and despite that nobody cares. In fact I was told by my mother to not take the prescribed Stimulants as that would ruin me.

I have almost decided that I will run away from everything and end it in Japan. It will probably hurt people and cause a lot of heartache and headache to many people, but I don't see any feasible solid solution to my problems.

My mother proposed a deal which is to go live separately in a house next to my grandparent's house. In return I have to give a few hundred every month, maintain the cleanliness of the house, help my grandparents with anything and give free labour on weekends to my uncle. As well as save money to finish a building behind my grandparent's house.
One year later after the deal, I am here...
I was supposed to go through a Formal Autism Diagnostic Assessment in the UK through the NHS, as my GP thought it would be a good idea to get checked, but that was thrown out of the window the moment I had to go back to my home country.
I couldn't even finish my education as I was way too stupid for a bachelor's diploma. A degree is completely out of my league.
At least now I know that I am even a bigger POS than my father and no matter what I do it will never be enough. I am screwed either way and this is not even the whole picture.
I have no real life friends or online friends and don't even see the point of relationships.
I was diagnosed with ADHD and despite that nobody cares. In fact I was told by my mother to not take the prescribed Stimulants as that would ruin me.

I have almost decided that I will run away from everything and end it in Japan. It will probably hurt people and cause a lot of heartache and headache to many people, but I don't see any feasible solid solution to my problems.

Today, I experienced a difficult situation as a student where, without any valid reason, I was prohibited from participating as a presenter at a student symposium at the music academy. I had worked tirelessly the entire day and night, putting all my effort into it, only to have it all go to waste when I received the notification the night before the symposium. Especially as this topic is closely related to my graduate thesis and my research on flamenco. I have become deeply attached to everything that defines flamenco, and it's not easy for me at all.
A few hours after the symposium, as I sat down at the computer and went through the presentation, as soon as I reached the audio example of the original flamenco singer Silverio Franconetti, I literally burst into tears. His performance struck me deeply, but also because I felt misunderstood and unappreciated for what I do. I felt humiliated in front of everyone and felt helpless at that moment as no one wanted to stand by my side, not even the assistant in whom I had placed a lot of hope to bring a glimmer of positivity to the faculty. Even now, I am shattered like a glass pieces and at the peak of a nervous breakdown because of all this, and I can't get over how much injustice has been done to me.
Okay, no one cares about anyone at the faculty, and I understand that, but I don't understand all this cruelty towards students and the excessive pride that's present in them. It's as if they don't want us to be better than them someday in the future. That's why I've been considering completing my bachelor's studies and pursuing my master in another country because I no longer have the strength to study at my own faculty. That professor has failed me and humiliated me many times, so realistically, it's hard to expect that I will ever have a relaxed student-professor relationship with her. In the meantime, I will give it my all to prove to them that I am the best, and I will present my thesis topic in the best possible way!
