I keep hearing that things are bad because wealth inequality is bad. Then I hear about how wealth inequality is associated with societal upheavals and other problems. Sure, fine, overall it makes sense intuitively. What's the actual problem with wealth inequality?
First, let's look at what actually causes wealth inequality and why that's bad. Typically, its caused by problems with the structure of the economy like barriers to entry. This is where capitalist winners rig the system to protect themselves from competition, so the best way to make money becomes simply to have money. There's also something called elite overproduction. This is where the high-paying jobs end up being influential in society, for example in academia and government, or even the power of HR departments. These will work to expand the resources their class has access to, while gatekeeping as much as possible to not have to share positions. Military is included.
For these cases, it's not wealth inequality that's the problem. The bigger problem comes from the barriers that elites put up to protect their wealth and cause the inequality. These barriers allow wasteful and distorted structures to endure. That waste is the real problem. That's what chips away at society and leaves it high and dry.
Today, we have to ask why wealth inequality exists. I keep hearing about tax breaks and Reagan. Bro. The Federal Reserve has bought up half the stock market to protect the wealth of the upper middle class. That's not some guy in a Bentley on 7th avenue smoking cigars. It's mainly urban liberal baby boomers who benefit from this policy, though the GOP real estate tycoons down South certainly do too. In any event, the trillions of debt that are being paid to prop up near-zombie companies - that's the problem. This isn't "greed" it's government policy. You'd lose the military, the welfare state, the bureaucracy along with the "rich" all at once if you ended this.
Look, Facebook is neat you can send baby pics to your great aunt while she rants about Qanon in another forum. Still, I'm sorry, how many billions of dollars in capital did it raise? People getting paid big six figures to do PR? Give me a break.
Granted, the shadowy accounts in Panama of the really truly global nouveau riche dwarf those salaries, but they're getting their money from the same money printer casino.
And, these petty narratives about billionaires and Reagan miss the point that the very most wealthy people on Earth have so much money it's like y'all always say. They don't NEED anymore, but they actually know it. Which is why they don't focus on making more money, but using - not money - but their control over that shadowy middle layer of society where privately funded NGOs shape government policy, to meddle as architects of society. Hell, these rich people have it set up so the government helps fund most of these think-tanks they control.
So what's the problem with wealth inequality? It's our hopelessly corrupt, entangled, wasteful system. It's producing these elites, creating this inequality, but it was broken to begin with.
We need to expose these rich to the buffeting winds of the free market. We need to significantly decentralize our infrastructure and politics. There's nothing wrong with some welfare or community welfare, but hey, then you too might have to pony up your time and energy to help other people rather than just allowing someone else to tax a third person and make it not your problem.

Long time ape here, long time lurker, please feel free to check my post history to confirm. I was taking a shit this morning when I got a text from Computershare that my bi-weekly purchase of GameStop had filled. Wherever you stand on the book/plan/DRS train, I applaud you - if you've got an account with Computershare I know that you like the stock, you care about your investment, and you know more about Street Name and beneficial holdings than 99% of people investing in brokerages.
I recently looked at my account number on Computershare and realized that I was one of the first 5,000 accounts to register my shares with GameStop's transfer agent. It is amazing to see just how many more apes have joined this subreddit and chosen to register their own shares for themselves over the years, and I look forward to seeing this trend continue. As more and more people start to understand how messed up our markets are, the louder the voices become, and brighter the lights start to grow on the corruption which has filled our capital markets.
Having been on this sub since its inception, it has truly been a rollercoaster for several years, and while I think we are nearing the end of this ride, it could end up like the Aftershock rollercoaster in Idaho, where after you get to the end, you do the whole thing in reverse. Nothing really surprises me anymore when it comes to my favorite stock, and I continue to hold out hope that this process will result in true market reforms. If not, I can still sleep easy knowing I am on the right side of this trade :)
Anyways, with all that boring shit out of the way, I wanted to discuss some of my thoughts on the events of the last month. As many of you may be in a similar position to me, it has been interesting to once again see volatility after the downward pressure in the last few years. In 2021, I kept waiting for the algos to break, for the SHF's to capitulate, and for MOASS to begin in earnest. I would tell anyone who would listen to buy GME, to rail against the corruption of Wall Street, to stick it to the big guy! As time went on and on, and the price kept getting pushed downward, I got far more concerned looks about my sanity as opposed to people jumping on board the GME Rollercoaster with me.
Like many of you, I stopped shouting from the rooftops about what a great investment GME was, how it could lead to long term financial security, how the markets were fraudulent, and faded into the background. Still, while I realized I could not necessarily encourage those around me to buy in, I realized that I could still do what I personally wanted to with my favorite stock. As a result, I just kept accumulating over the years, and I find myself in a substantially larger position now than I could ever have thought in January of 2021.
Of course, as this volatility started occurring again in May and June, all of a sudden people started to ask and text me "Are you still in?" "Can you believe this?" "I can't believe I sold" "Should I buy back in?" - what's funny this time around is I just don't care. People are free to do what they please in this stock market, and they can buy and sell whatever they want to. I just keep holding, and keep thinking of DFV's "What's an exit strategy?" comment.
I do not want to get political at all, but this sub does remind me of very popular political movements (on all sides) where you have a leader with integrity who inspires (Ryan Cohen) and a very popular message to fight corruption which has been amplified by DFV. Both have widespread support among the public for various reasons, and neither individual was born into the wealth they now find themselves having. Both would like to fight against the corruption in the system, and are working to give more power back to the people - "Power to the Players" could not be a better slogan!
Unlike political movements, however, this deep loyalty to companies (as opposed to countries or governments) is something newer we see in our financial and capital markets. In recent memory, the last couple of companies which approached this level of fervor were Apple and Tesla. Unlike either of those companies, however, GameStop is not (yet) a technical company or responsible for the manufacture of major products. It is currently a retailer which finds itself in the middle of a transition, but like Tesla, it is fighting against significant downward pressure from outside actors pushing for its failure.
Also unlike Apple and Tesla, GameStop has a larger and more loyal following than any other company I have ever seen so far. While companies in the future may have individual investors who consider a company a small part (or large part) of their own identity, I cannot think of another company at the moment which inspires such loyalty. Even a company like Nvidia, which is performing incredibly well right now, could lose many of its shareholders if it experienced the volatility like we have seen with GameStop. Wall Street really did create a monster with GameStop investors where any price is a great time to buy - buy when it's up, buy when it's down, hell buy some more when it's sideways (which is always until it isn't).
What I am trying to get at with this long and meandering post is that I am never leaving. While I used to love to day-trade, scalping profits with options, and trying to get in and out of positions to make a quick buck here and there, I am now a forever hold type of investor. My shares are purchased on Fidelity, then transferred over to Computershare to sit and marinate in the infinity pool.
Like DFV mentioned in his stream, RC and the Board have gone from saving the company to the transformative part of the rebuild. There is no longer a risk of bankruptcy, and the current cash on hand is enough to run operations for years even if no profits occur. This is not to mention the new share offering which can be used to raise even more cash if needed.
At the end of the day, was I happy to see the earnings along with a share offering yesterday? No. BUT, MORE IMPORTANTLY...Am I part of the GameStop board and intimately involved with the turnaround plan? No. Have I been privy to behind the scenes information on how they are trying to turn things around? No. Have I been working hard every day to figure out which stores to close and improve profits? No. Have I come up with how to best invest the nearly $2 Billion of cash on hand? No. Do I know why they put up another share offering at this time? No.
What have I actually done? I've purchased shares in GME, continue to purchase shares in GME, and will keep purchasing shares in GME because I believe in the company, I believe in the board, and I believe there has been a lot of work done to improve shareholder value. All of the FUD, all of the negativity, and all of the "Why did they stop the squeeze?" "Why did they sell into such a huge rip?" "Why did they stop MOASS?" is all noise at the moment. Really the only question that matters is this: Do I believe RC and the Board have a plan to turn this company around and maximize shareholder value? YES.
For those who may have forgotten, we have the annual shareholder meeting coming up next week on 6/13, as well as DFV's calls on 6/21. While he may have appeared to be a mindless investor on the livestream yesterday, his positions prove he is anything but that. There is no mindless investor that can increase an 800,000 share position to a 5,000,000 share position (not to mention 120,000 calls and $29M in cash) in three years without serious dedication and knowledge.
While I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks, and I am curious to see what happens, it really does not matter as long as RC and the Board keep building and holding. I remain zen, I stay happy, I keep hydrated, and I continue living my life. It was great to see DFV happy and healthy, enjoying the ride like all of us should, and looking forward to a brighter future. Cheers, everyone!

I (35F) have been married with my husband (38M) for almost 8 years now. When we were dating, we had a lot of common interests, had a lot of projects together, and travelled a lot.
Since we married, however, I feel like I have been taken for granted. My career started late and has had its own share of bumps due to me having a chronic illness (he knew about it before marrying and was ok with it), so some years he has been the sole provider (he is a lawyer, I am a doctor). I feel very guilty when that happens and in those cases I tend to turn over every penny I get to him and not buy everything non-necessary for me (we have separate accounts, and then a joint account).
Thing is, I get he has a very demanding job and that when he comes home he needs to relax and unwind. However, that usually means that, after arriving, he just goes to the computer to concentrate on his hobbies and I will only get to talk to him at dinner, and most times he will be with his smartphone when having dinner. I tried to talk him out of this habit, and he said he would spend time with me first when arriving home. However, he’ll fall asleep shortly after entering the room, and he won’t wake for at least a couple hours, even if he asked me to wake him. When he does, it’s back to his hobbies.
In weekends, or free days, it’s always him who decides what to do (it has been like that for years). Free days is usually him in the computer 24/7. Weekends is usually card tournaments, either here or abroad, or more computer. He has a website he ‘has to’ keep updated and that’s more important than anything else in the world.
Forgot saying that, when he is concentrating in something, be it his website, writing a post in social media, reading an article in a newspaper, or just ordering his card collection, he cannot be interrupted. As it’s impossible to know exactly when he is concentrated and when he is not, I’ve gotten into the habit of asking whether I can speak or not. But, even if I’m given permission, he’ll most likely lose focus (or even fall asleep) if I take 5 minutes or more.
I have tried to talk to him about this several times, from the very beginning, but to no avail. From his point of view, I’m just not letting go some grievances from long time past (which would make sense… if they didn’t keep happening until today), he’s improving by staying with me when he arrives from work, and I just need to have my own hobbies so I’m not dependent on him (I do. But I just happen to want a husband from time to time).
I thought about couples counselling, but since he has his own issues to work with (as per his psychologist, zero tolerance to frustration and problems with impulsivity), that are causing him some trouble at his job; and given that he was unwilling to have counselling at all, since that would mean giving up either time from work or from his hobbies, when he finally agreed to it, I thought individual therapy to tackle those issues was the priority.
On my part, I’ve tried everything. From being a submissive wife to being an independent one. Nothing seems to help. He seems happy enough to live the single life having me on call if he needs anything and being the dutiful secretary that schedules his flights and medical appointments, walks the dog, does the shopping, brings him coke and studies law on her own so he can talk to her about his work and she can follow and offer insight.
Problem is, that makes me feel so lonely. And so unhappy.

But you can get an unlimited number of helps, right? For each one who joins you, you will get 2000 bills. But after a certain number of helps it was reported that this number drops down to 1500. Is that right? After which number of helps does that happen? And is that the only reduction or are there further reductions with even smaller numbers?
Back to the calculation: A gap of 300 000 in three weeks is 100 000 per week.
Assuming 10x2000 for the first helps leaves 100 000 - 20 000 = 80 000.
80 000 / 1500 = 53.3. So you would need 53.3 (let's say 54) extra help per week or 8 extra help per day!?
Assuming you have one main account which receives all, you have 10 extra accounts (of course perfectly legally from your wife, mother, father, four grandparents, one aunt, one uncle, right?) and join a team of four others with the same kind of family, you have those 50 reliable donators who would give you those 50 * 1500 = 75 000 bills, plus some extra helps for free since you are a nice guy. And since you are a nice guy, you had helped those other four clans the same way.
Is that the way how that would actually work? Or am I assuming this perfectly wrong and there is another way to get it done?

**Introduction** 1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs? * No. Currently own a borzoi, and grew up with dogs of very different breeds. 2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a [reputable breeder]( http://ownresponsibly.blogspot.com/2011/07/identifying-reputable-breeder.html)? * No. 3) Describe your ideal dog. * A dog with good drive and athletic ability because I want to mainly do bikejoring with them. I prefer more will to please but I really don't like the velcro personality that tends to come with that. I like when the dog just chills out at home and don't jump up as soon as I move. Our current dog tends to be in the same room with us but just lies there and isn't standing right at my feet at all times. I prefer them to be aloof with strangers and not the kind of dog that happily greets every single person they see. Not too fond of barking and howling, I'm fine with some just not all the time. Either not long hair or hair that can get trimmed/cut short. 4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why? * I really don't have a preference since I just want a dog that fits what I want. I've looked at every group, all types of breeds and found qualities I both love and don't like in many of them. 5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do? * I love doing fun trick training on walks or at home and stuff like that. Picking up stuff I drop, finding chanterelles, just fun little things that are also useful in an every day setting. Basic obediance and more advanced on a hobby level. 6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport? * Bikejoring, I did this with my current dog and got pretty good results for her being a borzoi. But I want to up the level and do it more seriously, maybe even compete. Even if I don't end up competing I would do it on a pretty serious level "at home". **Care Commitments** 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day? * Play and mental stimulation I kind of throw in wherever possible with my current dog and like having it that way, but I wouldn't be opposed to also having more dedicated training sessions for some hours each week. 8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park? * Several hours. Off leash play time (for my borzoi that mostly consists of running around on her own but sometimes I get to throw a ball and she'll fetch it a few times) outside, long walks with fun exercises thrown in to strengthen or build balance, the joring. Longer hikes when time off. I use a dog park but in my country it's not like a small park with a lot of dogs. It's a big, big fenced in area, often with trees and it's more like a field. And you go in one at a time or let people in if you know your dogs get along. But that's like one other dog at a time. The bikejoring I would do a few times a week and want the dog to be able to go around 40km/week. 9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly? * Fine with trimming, don't want to brush too much. All other things like basic care, brushing teeth, cleaning ears and so on is of course fine. **Personal Preferences** 10) What size dog are you looking for? * Minimum 25 kg. Don't care about height and can't really say a maximum weight but not too heavy since I need speed and endurance. 11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle? * Ideally not much shedding but it's not a hard limit. Barking is fine to a degree, don't want the chatties dog out there but they can alert to strangers at the door or talk a little, as long as you can also stop it when needed. Slobber is like the shedding. 12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area? * Not really since I'm used to sighthounds but it would be quite nice if it was possible, for hikes and such. **Dog Personality and Behavior** 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space? * Personal space. I love how my current dog is so I can describe her. She loves to be close and cuddle, often sits in my lap outside but she isn't clingy at all at the same time. She isn't desperate to be close, she just likes it a lot of the time. But is also very capable of just lying down and chill a bit away from me when we're sitting outside. At home, she's fine with being in her spot a few metres away from me in the same room. Sometimes she whines a little for attention, she doesn't want cuddles but that I look at her and talk to her. A few minutes of that and she's fine again. When she wants to cuddle she comes up to me, I pet her a little and then she goes back to her spot by herself again. Like, we know she loves us and likes to be close but doesn't come of as needy, clingy or desperate for attention. 14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please? * More eager to please. 15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors? * I prefer aloof, I don't mind guarding instincts at all but I do mind the typical lab "everyone's my friend!" mentality. The borzoi for example seems oblivious that other humans even exist and I like that. We don't get many visitors but do live in a city and use public transportation so it needs to be fine with being around others. It's fine with more guarding qualities but they need to back down if I let people in. 16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs? * Not at all, since it needs to get along with our current dog. 17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid? * Any kind of real aggression, to other dogs or humans. Separation anxiety. No off switch, like ability to just chill when inside or on the bus. **Lifestyle** 18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone? * A few times a week, for maximum 4 hours. 19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog? * My partners preferences are mentioned so that they can live with the dog but I will be the main caretaker in all areas. They work a lot more and have a lot less energy than I do and don't have the same love for dog sports and training. But they really love dogs and will offer a lot of love, cuddles and involvement when free. 20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they? * Only my borzoi. 21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly? * One child above the age of 12, maybe one to two times every other month. 22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? Made a whole ass account just to make this post lol. This is a long one, too. Lots of backstory, TL;DR at the bottom.
My bestie (let's call her S) and I have been friends for close to 20 years, since we were kids. Aside from a short lull at the beginning of college, we've always been close. We have lots of inside jokes, have traveled around together, used to be able to talk for hours. There was a point that I felt like I could literally tell her anything, and I assumed the feeling was mutual.
Things started changing in 2022. There was an incident where we had been drinking with another friend (we can call her M), S said something that pissed me off, and I yelled at her and wound up breaking my phone in anger. We talked about it a week later, I apologized and accepted full responsibility and fault for what happened, and she seemed to accept that.
About a month later, I went on a trip with her and a group of S's friends. Among this group was her ex. Half the trip was supposed to be at one destination with the larger group, and the other half would be at another destination with just me, her, and her ex.
S and her ex broke up in 2018, and I truly thought the two of them were just friends. I was even happy that they were spending so much time together lately, believing that maybe there was a chance they would rekindle things in the future. Because surely, they weren't back together now. Surely, S would have told me if they were back on, so I could back out of the second half of the trip and avoid being the third wheel.
Well. We arrive at the first destination, and not 24 hours pass before it becomes blatantly obvious that she and her "ex" still have something going on. All of her other friends--people I barely knew--seemed to be aware of this, and were surprised that I wasn't. I confronted S and her bf, and turns out they've been back together, without an official label, since 2020. What?
I felt blindsighted. On top of that, according to him, I was only invited on the trip because my friend sees me as "clingy". I asked S if this was true, and she only said that she also sees her boyfriend the same way--almost as if to say that, just because I'm clingy doesn't mean she doesn't care about me. I felt so small and pathetic, like she was only spending time with me out of charity, like I wasn't even worth being completely forthright with. To say I was offended would be an enormous understatement.
And then, throughout the trip, her boyfriend kept on asking me all these invasive questions about my life, my family, what I felt on xyz topic, ect. When I told him these questions made me uncomfortable, he said I was free to ask him the same kind of questions, but I didn't care to? I barely knew him?? He also seemed to know a lot about me in general, while I barely knew anything about him. I felt so weirdly exposed. It's hard to describe.
And then to top it off, once we got to the second destination and it was just me, her and him, my friend got a lot more emotionally volatile. Randomly crying, spacing out, acting... sort of like a brat, to be honest. It was a new side to her I didn't know existed and didn't know how to interact with.
I spoke to her about all this once we got back. One specific thing that I asked is that she not tell her boyfriend anything about me anymore. I think this was a fair ask, as I didn't (and still don't) know anything about him. She didn't respond much, but seemed to understand.
Despite our talk, I still walked away feeling out of sorts about the whole thing. About 6 months later, I fucked up again--we were drinking with M, S said something that upset me, and I snapped pretty aggressively at her. I regretted expressing myself the way I did pretty soon after, and reached out to see if we could talk. She didn't respond, and we wound up not speaking for close to two months.
I know I was wrong. But the silence also killed me. It felt like I was receiving the silent treatment, something she knows I was subjected to a lot as a kid from my mother, so she knows it's a trigger. It was only after I sent her a very long text apologizing and detailing why I reacted the way I did that she responded.
We got together, I apologized again in person. She said she's noticed that I become a lot more aggressive when M is around--which upon reflection, I agreed was true, because M is a lot more communicative and so I feel more emotionally "free" around her. I then reminded her about the way she acted during our trip, and she agreed she was so volatile because she feels "freer" to do so around her boyfriend--that she always feels worked up that way, but hides it around me. We came to the understanding that while candor can be a good thing, it isn't right for our friendship, and we need to be more purposeful in crafting what we say to each other. Fine, perfect.
All this happened in 2022, but I'm just starting to realize that all this may have damaged (?) our friendship. I don't think I was truly forgiven for popping off on her those two times, and I almost feel like all the talking we did about what happened made things worse because I know it made her immensely uncomfortable. It's like I kept touching the third rail, without realizing it.
Things have changed. We still travel together, which is great, and when we're out like that things 100% feel like they used to. But besides that, there's been a noticeable shift. We used to hang out all the time after work, just me and her; now she goes to the gym mon-thurs instead. And that's a good thing! I'm glad she has a healthy habit. But then, we also don't see each other anymore on the weekends. We only really meet up on Fridays, with a large group of our mutual friends. I'm not going to chase her, because if there's one thing I'm not going to be again is clingy; but she doesn't invite me out, either. I feel like it doesn't make a difference to her whether we spend time together or not.
She's gotten pretty into the concept of boundaries lately. Boundaries are a good thing, they're required for healthy relationships, but I feel like she's been abruptly setting up all these boundaries without us discussing them first. Shouldn't they be discussed? I'd love to, but like I said, I think those raw emotional conversations are our "third rail". I'm afraid to bring it up.
And then last Friday. All of us, our larger friend group, met up at our usual bar, and there weren't many people in that night. S came late because she had to wrap things up at work. When she comes in, I cross the bar to give her a hug--as I always do--but she turned bodily away from me. She didn't so much as say hi. Her doing that, and me having to walk away rejected all the way back to the other end of the bar, was... awkward? Embarrassing? All our friends saw that. It's like we had a fight that I'm not aware happened.
She also hasn't spoken much to me this week about anything substantial. I want to ask her what happened, but I know if I do she's probably just going to say everything is fine, which I know it isn't.
TL;DR after a series of unfortunate events in 2022 that revealed that my bestie and I aren't as close as I thought, I feel that she's been gradually distancing herself from me. I want to reverse this, as it distresses me, but I feel like I can't talk to her honestly without risking damaging the friendship further. Help.

All I Can See Is You (あなたしか見えないの, anata shika mienai no) is a song in r-906’s new album diaLOG / 会話記録 (kaiwa kiroku). The album is accompanied by a novel of the same name, and each song is linked to different chapters of the book.
The lyrics of All I Can See Is You can be difficult to understand without knowing the context that each part of the song describes. The aim of this post is to explain the lyrics with reference to the relevant chapters of the book.
The existing translation) that is credited to Kaz on Vocaloid Lyrics Wiki has some differences in interpretation, and I don’t know if it takes the context into account, but not many lines are too different and I like the way some lines are translated, so I’ll modify the translation instead of making my own. Lines marked by (*) are modified by me.
Disclaimer: I suck at Japanese. I’m far from fluent and I’ll only be taking JLPT N3 next month. I had to use the dictionary hundreds of times to read the book. Not exactly ideal for someone writing such a long analysis. If you have any ideas for improvement, feel free to comment.
Spoilers for the book, obviously.

Background

First, the setting of the story. This kid, who we’ll refer to as Subject A (当事者A), realizes that there are five different worlds or realities. Each world has a different version of their friend. In a dream before the start of each day, the friend decides which version of themselves they want to be for the day, and accordingly, which world it will be. The five versions don’t know of the selection that happens daily as well as the existence of versions other than their own. Subject A only gets to experience the chosen world.
Recently, the friend has been choosing the fourth version, because she is popular, a model student, and generally leading the happiest and most fulfilling life among the five versions. We’ll call her Four (IV番). Subject A is friends with all versions except Four, because of something that happened a long time ago which will be explained later. Subject A also laments the fact that Four is so perfect and desirable compared to the other versions, meaning that the other versions rarely get chosen and Subject A rarely gets to talk to them.
Four doesn’t understand why Subject A has been avoiding her, so she eventually approaches Subject A during lunch break one day to ask. This day’s events are first written from Four’s perspective in the chapter 会話記録（四）(Conversational Record (Four), p. 31-40), and then from Subject A’s perspective in the chapter 独白 (Monologue, p. 69-83). The song’s lyrics are written from Subject A’s perspective. Subject A’s grievances are directed towards Four, so “you” in the lyrics refers to Four.

Title and Omitted Subject

Although the official English title uses the subject “I”, the Japanese title omits the subject. Really, it should be “All Everyone Can See Is You”.
Subject A’s case is obvious: Four keeps showing up and the other versions don’t get to.
On the other hand, Four is the only popular one, whereas the other versions literally (yes, literally) have zero friends other than Subject A. In this sense, a “Side Character B” in Four’s world knows Four, whereas the same “Side Character B” in Five’s world wouldn’t know Five.
I’ll leave all translations of the title as they are to match the title though.

A-Melody: The Big Picture

As explained in the background, Subject A views Four as this perfect person receiving all the attention from everyone else. But unlike Four, Subject A knows of the other versions.
The second line is interesting. In p. 70, Subject A describes Four as 魔性の女 (mashou no onna, devilish girl) due to her natural incredibly charming nature that draws everyone to her, as well as her seemingly malicious tendency to leave Subject A waiting for her at the school gate while she chats with other people in the school, back when Subject A and Four were still friends.
Same as Catchy !? (the first song in the same album), the term 一等星 (ittousei, lit. first-magnitude star, an astronomical term describing the brightest stars in the night sky) is used to describe Four.

B-Melody: “Because I Love Everyone”

Having been made to wait too many times, eventually Subject A timidly asks Four what happened. Four replies,

「んー、でもわたし、みんな好きだからなー」 “Hmm, but you know, it’s that I love everyone…” (p. 70)

Flapping hands probably refers to the Japanese gesture of waving a hand in front of one’s own face to mean “no”. The book doesn’t mention the hand-waving nor the exact conversation, but perhaps Subject A asks, “Did something happen?” To which Four replies, “No, not at all! It’s just that I love everyone…” The existing translation renders あけらかん (akerakan) as “absentmindedly”, and “shocked” is also a given definition in the dictionary, but I think “nonchalantly” fits best with my image of Four. Her approach of loving everyone equally is so natural to her, she doesn’t realize that that comment and the way she treats everyone was what caused Subject A to start avoiding her. Plus, Four appears to Subject A (and surely most readers) like a person who has things under control.

Unbeknownst to Four, this sows seeds of insecurity into Subject A’s head. They had assumed they were particularly close friends with Four as opposed to normal friends. Four’s words make them think, “Am I part of ‘everyone’? Am I really no better than everyone else?” (p. 72) All they could do was wish they were special friends.
Now more than a year after the event, they have mostly gotten over their intense resentment and anger towards Four. However, they still struggle to come to terms with the fact that their feelings are no more than jealousy.

Chorus 1: The Rabble

Today, same as it has been for a long time, the moment Subject A’s eyes met with Four’s, Subject A averted their gaze. They escape into their classroom as a junior in the same student committee as Four calls out to her. Subject A reflects on the past and her emotions (A- and B-Melodies), and snaps back to reality as they hear Four lightly chide a teacher whose collar is twisted. They acknowledge that they can’t really blame Four for their own emotions. Neither can they blame anyone else. Then, who can they direct these vile emotions towards? (p. 73-74)
Four’s conversations with her junior and the teacher give the reader a taste of her charm, humor and tact. I imagine Subject A thinking up these lyrics, green with jealousy, as all they can do is watch these two side characters become captivated. In this section, “I can only see you” is said from the perspective of every one of Four’s friends.
The term 有象無象 (uzoumuzou, the rabble, masses or common people) is used in the novel as Subject A’s insecurities build up.

あたしも彼女に魅せられ惑わされた、有象無象の一人に過ぎないのだろうか、と。 Am I no more than another face in the crowd, enchanted and captivated by her? (p. 72)

Lunch Break

Although Four has no idea what she did to cause Subject A to avoid her, she wants to ask and apologize, so she goes to Subject A’s classroom and asks to join them during lunch break. Subject A accepts, though they are shocked and confused why Four has suddenly approached them after so long. At the same time, they feel terrible for hating and blaming Four in the past.
The song skips over the first part of their conversation where they start having lunch together, but I think it’s important to mention it as Subject A better understands why Four is so well-liked.
Four compliments the colors in Subject A’s packed lunch. Subject A notes that this might be the first time any of the five versions has done so and concludes that Four is observant. (I think all five versions do notice it, since the detail is mentioned in the chapters written in their perspectives. Four is the only one who actually puts it into words.)
Subject A truthfully criticizes their own cooking, saying their tamagoyaki isn’t so great today. Secretly, they feel even more miserable failing, of all days, on this very day when Four comes to talk. The insightful Four uses the opportunity to praise Subject A instead, “Eh, by ‘today’, do you mean you make it yourself every day? Isn’t that amazing?” (I’m no cook, but rolling tamagoyaki sounds pretty difficult.)
Being praised by Four intensifies Subject A’s misery, and they reply, “Not as amazing as you.” Sensing the distance that Subject A is putting between the two of them, Four tries to close it up by poking fun at her partner using a speech style that is primarily used by the elderly: 「まあまあそんな謙遜しなさんなって。」(“Now, now, don’t be so humble.”) Followed by her own humble elaboration that she only tried to make tamagoyaki today because she happened to wake up early. (Four notes afterwards that she hadn’t revealed to Subject A that she made her own lunch, so what did Subject A think was ‘amazing’? It’s likely Subject A was referring to Four herself, while Four thought it was the tamagoyaki.)
Four’s ability to come up with the right things to say leaves Subject A amazed, staggered and feeling miserable at themselves.

I have an account on Instagram (@archi.hacks) which just hit 60k followers, and I wanted to share some of my learnings and useful tools I found along the journey.
I experimented with a few techniques including IG live, stories, IGTV when it was a thing, as well as Reels more recently. After all that, I found that carousel posts to be the most effective means to engage my followers and reach new audience. I attribute this to giving free valuable information increases engagement (likes, comment, share), and boost my posts to discover tab. I don't claim that this will work for everyone, but it certainly did in my niche.
I realized I was doing a lot of repetitive work, so I made a little tool to help me streamline this process of creating carousels. If you want to try it: Cookie Stories. It's in a closed beta (open to friends atm). You can only do limited things, but I wanted to first verify if there's enough interest in tools like this before I sink in more time.
