2024.05.25 00:29 ChuWhiSox Why would my OBDII reader say MIL status on but the light is off?

My 2010 f150 was throwing P2098. I tried to fix it, cleared the codes, then it came right back on with same code once the monitors were ready. A couple short drives later and the light is off but code reader still shows same code and says MIL status on. The light is not burnt out. Does this mean anything?

2024.05.24 19:35 King-Of-Rats Long Essay: The Railroad are FO4’s most ‘coherent’ faction - and this leads to a lot of people hating them

Just got done playing through a Railroad run of Fallout 4, and I honestly think it's the most interesting faction in the game - and I've been disheartened to see how many people on social media disregard it, seemingly not 'understand' it, or even go as far as to gleefully rejoice about how much enjoyment they get out of massacring the group every playthrough*.* And I think there are a few reasons for this, but ultimately it winds down to the RR being a much more 'coherent' and grounded faction in an overall very power fantasy game. I have a few points on this that I'd like to go over, sorted from what I think is least 'controversial' to most 'controversial'.
Problem #1: The Minutemen Exist:
The biggest issue with the Railroad in FO4 is that the Minutemen are right there. And what do I mean by this? Well, the RR and the MM are the two main "Good guy" factions. You can make the argument that all the factions have the potential to do good, but the RR and MM are portrayed in-game as the most non-controversially "good" factions in the game. The only problem is that the Railroad, like real life groups (especially ones fighting for radical change), have flaws and quirks, and the Minutemen do not.
The Minutemen are not a narratively coherent faction. As a group, there's simply almost nothing to them, and this is very much by design. You meet the MM almost instantly after the tutorial section of the game, they're instantly kind to you and give you various goodies and encouragement, and then instantly make you their boss. As a motivated group, it's essentially 5 named people, only 2 of which seem to actually give a shit about any 'Minuteman-oriented goals', and then as the game progresses it's... maybe some other unnamed people, who come out of nowhere, have no other lives, and only really exist to serve you the player. Almost every detail about what the Minutemen actually are and how they actually "run" is entirely up to you, the player, to headcanon. Are they a formal government unifying small farms and settlements under a single banner? Are they a series anarcho-communist communes? Is it a libertarian wonderland where everything works out? What's their tax policy? What's the deal with the roaming guards? Are they just volunteers? Do they get paid? Ehh, who knows. The game doesn't tell you, and it really doesn't want you to ask. And that's fine, because simply put a lot of people genuinely do not want to make hard choices in their video games, they just want the "best" option. It's the same reason why the most common faction in New Vegas is, by quite a ways, the Yes Man ending. What does an "independent New Vegas" entail? Well, it entails exactly what you, the player, thinks it does - and as we all know you, the player, have all the correct political views. It makes the Minutemen essentially by default the "best" faction in the game morally, because it's whatever you think should happens and little else. And speaking of your political views: That leads me to #2:
#2: The RR is a low-power faction:
This is both the main appeal and one of the main drawbacks of the RR. The RR, both in game and in a more meta sense, is very 'low power'. They are not a wide reaching organization setting out to try to control the land. They have a singular function and the destruction of the institute happens to coincide with it. They also *treat you* in a way that is more 'low power'. You are not immediately promoted to being the high-leader like you are in the Minutemen or the Institute, and while the BoS gives you *some* pushback - there's realistically hardly any at all. A few officers scoff at you and say "Heh... nice resume kid... but it'll take more than that to impress me...." and then you do one quest for them and they go "god damn, my best men couldn't have done that. Here's your promotion, sir." The Railroad is suspicious, with some NPCs being downright hostile to you because it makes sense and universe and, in real life, *some people just aren't interested in being your friend or underling*. That's just how real life organizations work!
The MM get artillery and a vast network of highly fortified settlements (if you like), the Brotherhood gets power armor and giant military machines, the institute is 200 years ahead of everyone else, and the RR has a bunch of dudes wearing big coats with plate carriers sewn in them and jeans. To me, this is badass, but FO4 is very much a power fantasy game and I think it juxtaposes strangely to everything else. People do not play FO4 to be some working grunt working towards a specific altruistic goal with a bunch of people who, by and large, are just people. It's often a game about ruling the land and lording over all these settlements, changing the face of the Commonwealth, and single handedly destroying massive organizations. People get angry at the RR for not being this, but it's much closer to how heroes get made in real life.
#3: The Railroad actually has internal questions/schisms
I don't want to repeat myself too much here, but unlike most other factions here the RR actually has some (comparatively) deep questions that the named characters have to grip and come to terms with. Namely, what's the acceptable cost of liberating a trapped/enslaved group? Can you kill their enslavers? Can you kill the people who don't directly have a 'leash' on them but support their oppression? What about people who just get caught in the crossfire?
Similarly, when do you draw the line on consciousness, and what it means to be an individual with free will? Synths are virtually identical to humans, but a lot of other robots are too. Is Curie just an object? What about after you put her into the Synth body? Is she "more worthy of being a human" then? What about Codsworth? Supervisor White? What about Prim Slim? How do you draw the line? Is it okay to have volunteer to have your memories wiped if it removes trauma and danger from your life? These are, despite what some people might insist, not exactly clear cut questions.
The Institute has... some internal questions too regarding the cost of science, but it's all so vague it falls into the MM "headcanon" territory, where you can just say "Oh well once I'm director I'll stop all the bad stuff and just be good", and the BoS only really asks the question of what Elder Maxon's actual motivations are, which never really gets answered. You and other NPCs can assert that he's full of shit and clearly up to no good, but it's ultimately up to you the player to determine if this is true or not.
Again, it's very odd to me that people laud New Vegas so much for being often morally gray, but critique the Railroad for having what I consider the same depth of ambiguity.
#4: The Railroad is 'leftist coded'
This is the most controversial one but I'd be remiss to not mention it. I think a lot of the people who get incredibly irate at the Railroad for simply existing do so because it is, in one way or another, the most 'leftist coded' group in FO4. They're a bunch of poorly funded, scrappy, typically younger revolutionaries who are trying to liberate what they view as an oppressed group. Several NPCs in the railroad directly refer to people who would enslave/torture/murder Synths just because they're synths as bigots. I think this triggers a kind of visceral response in people who, in some level of desperation to not be seen as a "commie/leftist/etc sympathizer" - need to announce how ecstatically they enjoy massacring a group who, and I can't stress this enough, is literally just a very blunt allegory for the Underground Railroad.
People often do the same with NCR being a kind of 'liberal coded' organization in New Vegas, and end up posturing that they unironically support the group of literal rapists and slavers because, to them, it's better than being seen as someone who like... supports a tax code. I think a lot of this is just the work of younger players being edgy and some grown adults who are *way* overcorrecting, but I also think it's a lot more common than people think.
Conclusion:
If nothing else, the Railroad are a very interesting faction that offers something a bit more complex than the others. It's not to say it's the most morally superior, and in fact I would say it probably *isn't* (by design), but it feels the least like a fantasy. It has the guts to make the player uncomfortable, and a lot of players simply do not like to be made uncomfortable by their video game. Keep an open mind regarding them, and give them a play sometime if you have't yet.

The main inspiration of this sub faction came from my beloved homeland, Vietnam, not only based on how we fight wars to gain our independent, freedom and happiness in the twentieth century but also base on how we approach our modern army to maintain said independent in the twenty first century.

The Independent Front Icon
Before the Second Tiberium War, unlike most governments in South East Asia, Vietnam still maintaining their own independent and stabilizing their economy. With cooperation of NOD, this status stand for a while before GDI begin their "peace keeping" mission in Vietnam, starting with the battle for Ho Chi Minh city. This violation spark another conflict, which called the Second War of Liberation. While GDI occupied major cities in the South at the beginning of the war, they were bogged down in a war of attrition. It wouldn't take long for GDI to identified the main culprits is an elite group called the Independent Front.
The Independent Front is an irregular military force organized by Vietnamese with support of NOD to fight against GDI invaders. With a complete military and civilian system, along with supports from majority of local populations and advance optical technologies had help them carry out many unthinkable ambushes, saboteurs, infiltrations and even frontal assault. These tactics as old as frustrated, for GDI cannot do anything to change the situation. After several years of attrition war with no gains, the last GDI soldier retreated, marking the end of the Second Liberation War and another victory for the Vietnamese. With the Third Tiberium War on the horizon, the Independent Front, through not willing to sparked another conflict with GDI, pressured by other NOD branches in the region. At this moment, it leadership made a difficult choice of staying neutral. This triggered reactions from other factions but after a deal with general Kilian Qatar, the Independent Front officially stay neutral in the Third Tiberium War, until the Scrin came, of course.
Because of NOD supports and influences, the Independent Front use NOD arsenal but have many adjustment to suit their taste. Their Militants are well trained and disciplined with each squad assigned a Cadre to maintain said discipline. Vietnamese mainly Irreligion, thus Fanatics and Black Hands found themself at odd here. However, the Independent Front still make use flame weapons, through on a moderate scale in the form of the Pyro Technicians. Their strength, however lied on stealthy and surprise attacks with clever distractions. This came in various forms in their arsenal, including elite stealthy units, hologram projectors and Cloaking Field can used on infantries without any harm. There also report of the use of drill pods by the Independent Front, which can pop up right at enemy back. Due to the relationship with NOD is only a beneficial one and they not fully stand with NOD cause, the Independent Front lack the means to build more iconic weapons such as Avatar and Obelisk of Light. They also prefer to train their own Commando, which more suitable for their style of warfare.
Defense
  • Cannot build Voice of Kane and Obelisk of Light.
  • Disruption Tower prevents enemy commanders from using any support powers within a radius 350.
Infantry
  • Cannot train Fanatics.
  • Pyro Technicians replaces Black Hands: Flamethrower-armed infantry primarily tasked for anti-infantry and anti-garrison duty. Through not as resilient and formidable as Black Hand, they're easier to trained and can set up mines or repair damaged vehicles when needed.
  • Guerrilla Squad replaces Shadow Team: Three-man infiltration team. Similar to their Shadows counterpart, they stealth until it opens fire, can place explosive charges and deploy Specter beacons. They cannot use glider but their machine guns had better range compare to Shadow dual pistols instead. They can be upgraded with rapid fire multi purpose rocket rifle, which slow down their rate of fire but increase their fire power and effectiveness against vehicle.
  • Shadow Ranger: Elite marksman commando came with an anti-material sniper rifle, which not only lethal to infantry but also light and medium vehicles, even heavily damage the heavier ones at long range, but have lower rate of fire compare to other Commandos. They can place explosive charges in enemies buildings and walker legs to bring them down. They also carries a portable stealth generator that render them invisible to the enemy if not attacking.
  • Cadre: Political officers assigned to Militant-type Squads to maintain discipline. Armed with mini machine gun, his appearance alone inspired all nearby friendly units to fight harder, giving them +50% fire rate, +25% armor and are +50% harder to suppress. Should he fall in battles, his martyrdom will continue to inspired his own squad, making them doubling their efforts for 30s.

Vehicle
  • Cannot build Flame Tank and Avatar.
  • Stealth Tank and Specter start with Veteran rank.
  • Shadow Tank replaces Scorpion Tank: Light main battle tank, fast, hard hitting and can be used for a variety of combat maneuvers at the cost of it armor. Equip with a makeshift Decoy Generator, allowed the vehicle create a harmless duplicate image of itself to distract enemies.
The Shadow Tank can use the model of Light Tank from Renegade X
Aircraft
  • Carryall stealth in flight.
  • Firefly: Battlefield support helicopter, old but still worked well in modern warfare. Through unarmed, It can transport two infantry squads to the battlefield and mark enemies with a targeting laser to increase the damage of friendly units attacking the marked targets. In case of emergency, it can launch a Pulse Grenade to stun enemy units and add some minors damages.

  • Cannot purchase Confessors, Tiberium Infusion and Laser Capacitors.
  • Cadre Officer: Maintain discipline by add a Cadre to Militant and Rocket Militant Squads to inspired them fight harder, event if he fall in battle. Purchase at Secret Shrine.
  • Camo Gears: Provide Militants, Rocket Militants and Saboteurs with camo gears, give them additional 10% health and 25% speed as well as the ability to stealth while idle. Purchase at Secret Shrine.
  • Unpack Modules: Upgrade Emissary and Reckoner with unpack modules, allowed them packing up after deployed. Packing time is same as deploy time. Purchase at Secret Shrine.
  • Disruption Loadout: Allow Specter and Vertigo Bombers switch to EMP projectiles, which allowed them to disrupt vehicles and building but significantly reduce damage output. Purchase at Tech Lab.
  • Rocket Weaponry: Upgrade Shadow Tank to fire anti-armor missiles, double it damage output. Upgrade Guerrilla Squad, Raider Buggy and Venom with rapid fire multi purpose rocket rifle, which packed significantly more punch. Purchase at Tech Lab.

Support Power
  • Cannot use Shadow Strike Team, Seed Tiberium, Redemption.
  • Can use Decoy Army free of charge.
  • Cloaking Field can be used to cloak infantry without any harmful effects.
  • Eyes of the People: Temporarily reveals all Construction Yards, Cranes and Outposts on the map. Require Operation Center
  • Drill Pod: Deploy two squads of Pyro Technicians any anywhere on the battlefield by drill pod. Require Secret Shrine.
  • Decoy Buildings: Select a building and create an emulation of it anywhere on the map. The fake building have same health and armor as the real building but do not function as the real one. The fake building can be captured by engineer but not will not provide any benefits, even when sold. Require Tech Lab.
Notable Event
  1. The Day of Bloodshed. Location: Ho Chi Minh city outskirt, Vietnam. Decades of peace and independent had abruptly came to an end. GDI, bolstered by their numbers and superiority of weapon had came to invade Vietnam under pretense of democracy and peacekeeping. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen gathered his men at Can Gio beach to stall the invasion forces long enough for the city to evacuate. The first wave of infantries had landed and begun clearing out the surrounding. Nguyen men quickly eliminate them and called in their MCV to set up temporally base to thwart several more GDI attempts. The frustrated GDI commander sent in the Third Wave consist of MCV landing forces, aircrafts and three Battleships for bombardment but this proved a fatal mistake. As Vietnamese reinforcements arrived and Vertigos begun bombing runs, sank all three battleship with some unlucky hovercrafts. Having stalled GDI long enough, Nguyen ordered a retreat leaving behind GDI with their pyrrhic victory.
  2. Flight of the Silver Birds. Location: Cam Ranh Naval Base, Vietnam. For now, GDI had gained control of major population centers in the South through their puppets but their stance are not solid. From various Vietnamese resistant pockets, the Independent Front had been formed, Nguyen appointed as it chief officer for his previous accomplishments in the war. After years of bloody struggle, the Independent Front need a decisive victory to break the stall. The chosen target is the GDI naval and air station in Cam Ranh run by APCOM. A commando team sneaked in and tampered with GDI fire control station there, making all GDI turrets open fire at GDI troops. During the chaos, they send docking GDI ship, including a carrier to oblivion with demo charges. The remaining GDI air base was alerted but soon found themself under attack shortly after. With their Air Tower silenced and Fuel Depots captured, APCOM aircrafts became sitting ducks as the defenders overwhelmed. In the end, APCOM had no choice other than retreat, making the first decisive victory of the Liberation Front.
  3. Onward, Toward, March. Location: Moc Bai, Vietnam-Cambodia Border. The Independent Front victory in Cam Ranh not only boost the morale of the resistances but also remove half of GDI fleet and a third of their aircrafts out of the fight. GDI now pulled back and set up defensive perimeters around Ho Chi Minh city. For several weeks, Independent Front attacks from northeast had met with heavy resistances but cannot break through. Took advantage of the stalemate, Nguyen planned a surprise attack from Cambodia-Vietnam Border and hit GDI from behind. The attack begin with bombard at GDI outpost, then Independent Front mechanized troop crossed the border and set up their base. Two Steel Talon bases along the road detected this incursion and sent out alert. Through clever tactics and determination, the Independent Front come out on top and Steel Talon now on a hasty retreat. GDI defensive line now in complete disarray and they soon forced to retreat from Vietnam, like the Invaders before them.
  4. Rouge War. Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Second Liberation War had come to it end, but the turbulent had not ended yet. After the war, NOD branches in South East Asia and China begin pressure the Independent Front to join their cause but the Vietnamese learned from past lessons, refused to join their cause and remained neutral. Frustrated, a NOD cell in Cambodia openly declared war on the Independent Front to put them in place. The Independent Front rapidly respond by a full scale assault on Cambodia. Nguyen and his men conducted a surprises attack on Phnom Penh to captured all enemies leaders and wiped out all their command structures in one fell whoop. In the end of this conflict, general Kilian Qatar brokered a deal, the Independent Front will example from NOD further operations and remained neutral in exchange for their "supports" and "consults" in the field of guerilla warfare where they're needed. This deal had given the Vietnamese time to prepared for future events.
  5. World in Conflicts. Location: Havana, Cuba. The world itself is ever changing, so as NOD. Kane and his Inner Circle planning for something big, so big that General Kilian Qatar request help from Independent Front. Recently, GDI had discovered NOD activities in North Carolina and tightened their security. Kilian need the Independent Front to distract GDI from the true threat so NOD can carry out it's plans smoothly. As such, Nguyen's men begin their operation in Cuba, where GDI had a large base there. Sneaking in a disguised transport truck, they secretly clear the way toward a GDI Munitions Bunker. There, they snuck the truck in before denotate it. This send signal to NOD hidden cults within the city as they started to riot. By then, an Liberation Front MCV arrived and with the rioters, Nguyen's men set the rest of Munitions Bunkers in fire. GDI alerted by the riot, diverted their attention to Cuba while NOD forces elsewhere can conduct their preparation in silence.
  6. Water Lifeline. Location: Panama Canal, Panama. The riot of Havana had alerted GDI but more distraction required to fully gasp their attention. Nguyen's men move to strike another key point in the world trade route, the Panama Canal. Should the passage through the Canal disrupted, GDI won't stand still and directed all their remaining forces to retake the canal. After cutting through thick jungle, a Shadow Ranger arrived at the right bank of Panama Canal and destroyed Artillery Emplacements on both side of the Canal. With both banks cleared, two NOD Battleships arrived to blockage the Panama Canal. GDI now on full alert, both Steel Talon and ZOCOM arrived to "lift" the blockage but the Coven of Widows cell instigated to fight back GDI. After temporally pushed back GDI, the Independent Front withdraw, hand over control of the blockage to Coven of Widows. With the Panama Canal Crisis in hand, GDI Council distracted from their defend in Blue Zones, giving chance for NOD to attack. The Third Tiberium War had begun.
  7. Pencil Insurances. Location: Hainan, China. The initial NOD success in Third Tiberium had not bring any ease for the Independent Front, as they knew GDI will soon retaliate. Thus the Liberation Front need some sort of "insurance" in case of GDI retaliation. Their fear came true as GDI amassing it force in Hainan, seemingly readied to strike at Vietnam, however the Chinese NOD branch had the upper hand and already attack GDI base there. Under guise of NOD reinforcement, an Independent Front MCV arrived to investigate the situation. There, they discovered NOD is targeting a GDI nuclear silo to get themself some warheads. Using this chance, while NOD and GDI fighting among themself, The Independent Front captured all silo and moved the warheads toward a ship. Enraged, both NOD and GDI send troops to intercept but ultimately failed and the Liberation Front gain an unexpected good harvest.
  8. Delivery Code. Location: Leyte Gulf, Philippines. The successful hijacking of nuclear warheads not without consequents. NOD already figured out who did it but at the moment, they didn't have the energy to dealt with it, especially after Temple Prime is destroyed and Kilian recalled all NOD forces back to Australia. Mean while, the warhead missing a key part, the launch codes. The Independent Front need to acquired the launch codes from a Lab in Leyte Gulf, where most GDI fleet in South East Asia currently gathered for retaliation of Hainan. A commando team had been dispatched. After successfully stole the launch codes, the team retreat to extract point when suddenly, the Scrin arrived and attacked GDI base. Take advantage of the chaos, the team withdraw in silence.
  9. Operation: Raven Terrace. Location: Dien Bien Phu, Vietnam. The Scrin Invasion hit both Blue and Yellow Zones hard. From the China Red Zone, a huge column of Alien march eastward, toward Ha Noi. Nguyen set up an ambush in Muong Thanh Valley, where the Alien will surely passed, there, a battle will be recreated after nearly a century. NOD survivors from Laos had set up barricades inside the city and along the routes in the valley while Nguyen artilleries lied waiting in the surrounding mountain. The Scrin force in charge of the assault belong to Reaper-17, a brutal sect. Their first wave came from the north in form of ground forces and Storm Riders. As NOD survivors held them down, artillery fires come in and blast them off. Soon, more Scrin coming in from the north and northeast routes but all met their end in ambushes. After several failed attempts, the Reaper-17 send in three Drone Flatforms form North, Northeast and South of the valley to surround from all side but Nguyen with high ground and artillery range advantages, pounded all three bases to the ground and secured his victory.
  10. Diversification. Location: Darwin, Australia. With South East Asia Yellow Zone situation temporally stabled, the Independent Front eyes turned toward the world. General Kilian Qatar framed for betrayal and executed by Kane, therefore, all brokers and deals she made are nullified, included the deal of NOD and Liberation Front before. But NOD now shown their interests toward Red Zones for some reasons. A Kilian Loyalists survivor had made contact with the Independent Front to exchange intel for his safety. An extraction team arrived to reach the survivor before NOD did. After get to safety, the survivor revealed himself as a GDI spy and spilling out all even manipulated by Kane to get himself an Alien Tower. He persuaded the Independent Front to join GDI attempts to dismantling these towers in exchange for peace. Seeing the madness of Kane plan, the Independent Front accept the deal.
  11. Threshold to Oblivion. Location: Threshold-16, West Papua, Indonesia. With Independent Front join hands with GDI, NOD officially treated them as a threat to NOD cause, but this is meaningless, since every forces in the world focus on the Alien's gigantic tower. The Independent Front came to assist GDI attempt of Threshold-16. There, a vanguard arrived first and destroyed a NOD outpost for GDI to set up their own base. As GDI building up their forces, the Independent Front disrupted NOD and Scrin attempts to destroy GDI. With GDI finishing their Ion Control Center, the join force make their way toward the Phase Generators. After all three Phase Generators destroyed, the Scrin made a final attempt by teleported in any force they can spare, including a Mothership, but this too failed to prevent GDI firing their Ion Cannon at the tower. The day is won.
  12. The Final Showdown. Location: Threshold-19, Italy. All Alien's Tower destroyed, except one in Italy, well protected and supervision under Kane's order. As for Independent Front relationship with NOD, it had became increasingly hostile. GDI remained neutral but they're working behind the scene to sway Vietnam toward their sphere of influence. To remained independent, the Independent Front had no choice other than cut a deal with Kane. Nguyen had a final job to do, that is draw Kane out for a talk. The Alien Tower guarded by four NOD factions, each had their own Construction Yards deployed along their full arsenal. The Black Hand mainly send heavy shock troops with flame weaponry. The Coven of Widows use human wave attack, with some laser mixed in. The Emerald Vipers took a more defensive stance, using toxic weapons to wither down intruders instead. Under Nguyen careful ambushes, hit and run and surprise assault, the sub-factions fell one by one. At this moment, only the NOD base remained, but the commander of this base is the NOD Legendary Commander. He didn't fool around and deployed full NOD arsenal, including a Redeemer with a Temple of NOD to boost. Through experience, bravery and some luck, Nguyen managed to came out on top. After his base destroyed, the NOD Commander Bunker is surrounded by Independent Front troops. At this moment, Kane made contact with Nguyen, implying he's readied to negotiate ....

Got a P2098 code on my 2014 Mustang GT which reads “Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 2”. The check engine light flickered a few times before staying on and I smell a faint carbon smell when I exit the car, which makes sense since its only on that side and bank 2 should be driver side. This is my first time ever dealing with O2 sensors/exhaust so I want to make sure I have my facts straight: should it be the pre-cat sensor falsely reading, the post-cat, or both? 2024.05.16 18:51 ParticularlyAvocado The Batman Reviewed: Season 1 - 2

1. The Bat in the Belfry - 3/5 (In terms of a Batman introduction episode, this does a decent job. It skips the origin story because superhero cartoons are allergic to them for some reason. But this at least vaguely alludes to Bruce's parents being gone, on top of introducing the struggle of being both a famous playboy and the Batman. As a result, the story is fairly generic though. Joker wants to release a laughing gas across Gotham. Gee, I haven't seen that one a dozen times. That said, this iteration of Joker has a really unique and wacky design. Along with zany acrobatic moves that are fun to watch and a great performance from Kevin Michael Richardson, it more than makes up for the subpar story. I also liked the side focus on Bennett and Fa Mulan- Sorry, Detective Yin. They're fun characters.)
2. Call of the Cobblepot - 3/5 (Penguin is quite acrobatic for a pudgy little guy. Alongside Rupert Thorne doing parkour in the previous episode, it seems the show wants to sell me on the idea that these chubby guys are just as combat capable as the Batman. And did they really have to give him the Danny DeVito hands? That's not a mandate anymore! I liked Alfred getting involved in this episode, though he doesn't really do much besides go to the Cobblepot manor. But it's funny that he does so in search of a tray.)
3. Traction - 4/5 (Colorful iteration of Bane. Why is his skin all red? He looks like a monster. But it's a cool twist on the character, so whatever. Although his motivations don't match up to the rad design, since after getting paid to destroy the Batman, all he wants to do is "take over Gotham", which he apparently thinks will be accomplished by just wreaking havoc. What is this, The Spectacular Spider-Man? I did like Alfred having to come and rescue Bruce, and the cute flashback where Alfred comforts him.)
4. The Cat and the Bat - 3/5 (This one's good, but mostly for the action setpieces. I think the rugged artstyle lends itself very well to snappy action, particularly the final scene with the Batman and Catwoman against the Yakuza. And the stuff before with Batman having to catch up to Selina messing with his Batmobile controls was neat too. But I can't say Catwoman leaves much of an impression on me in this one.)
5. The Man Who Would Be Bat - 4/5 (Kirk Langstrom as a character works pretty well as a kooky old man. I liked the visuals for his echolocation. As for the actual story...I mean it's just a typical Man-Bat story. Langstrom becomes the Man-Bat and goes crazy, so Batman stops him. But I did like the larger inclusion of Bennett and Yin, as I like their additions in this show as foils-yet-vaguely-allies to Batman.)
6. The Big Chill - 3/5 (So in this show Mr. Freeze is just another generic jewel thief. Not that I want this series to just copy paste Batman: The Animated Series, but simplifying the villains like this makes it less compelling by default. In fact here, he was always a criminal, he just happened to get ice powers. That said, his design is actually quite rad, and I did like the addition that he has a vendetta against the Batman. Plus it's funny that he took revenge on a random hobo, just for being in his way a few years ago.)
7. The Big Heat - 4/5 (Gee, I bet the writers thought they were hilarious putting these two titles next to each other. I'd say what this episode does slightly better than the others is showing the "struggle" of balancing the Bruce life with the Batman life. And actually giving the villain a narrative connection to it, instead of his schemes just serving as a vague lesson to learn. Firefly himself had a pretty cool looking suit, and the sky action was pretty nifty. Plus it was cathartic when Batman took him down to ground level and stomped. Nitpick: They forgot to animate Batman's mouth in the reflection of the puddle. I hope somebody got fired for that blunder.)
8. Q&A - 4/5 (Bruce listening to hiphop in his earbuds at a classical music theatre... Yeah this sure is a unique Batman. This is the first episode where I was genuinely interested in the story and villain. For starters, since they didn't immediately show me who it was, I got to remain curious about the kidnappings. Then I appreciated that they were connected to a personal vendetta rather than just wanting to steal jewels. I think Batman discovered the mystery a bit too quickly though. He didn't research the victims connections, he just clicked a button and the Batwave did it for him. But I enjoyed Cluemaster. Funny design. He's HUGE. I chuckled at Batman casually walking into his his moms house and her thinking she's his friend. And I thought it was fun how he defeated Cluemaster by asking the Batman's identity. Side note, that is an enormous basement.)
9. The Big Dummy - 4/5 (Wow, it's Homer Simpson! Well actually, Scarface sounds more like Krusty the Clown when he's yelling. That aside, we're back to villains just wanting to steal stuff for profit. Yeah, sure, whatever. Scarface trying to slap Batman was funny, though. And I found the idea of making him a huge puppet where Wesker himself takes the puppet position by the giant arm a funny twist on the character. The vague subplot about Bruce having a date with some Becky chick feels kind of tacked on and unnecessary, but I digress.)
10. Topsy Turvy - 4/5 (First "villain comes back for revenge" episode. Joker's plan is unfortunately fairly generic, but his zaniness still makes it fun. Not to mention seeing the Batman locked in an Arkham cell and dressing up as Joker. Why did Batman lock in the guard when leaving though? Rude for no reason. Also, I'm glad the fake Joker in this episode had to stay quiet so he won't be found out, unlike in The New Batman Adventures where a goon dressed up as Joker can just perfectly imitate his voice.)
11. Bird of Prey - 4/5 (Okay, I'm just gonna say it: Stop showing front facing Alfred! Without that little patch of visible hair, he looks completely bald, and it's weird! That aside, I guess after the series of villain introduction episodes, it's time for a batch of sequels. This is the better sequel than the Joker one, since I liked that Penguin had a clear cut motive. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but Penguin's zaniness was more amusing. No doubt helped by Tom Kenny's performance. Him wreaking havoc around Wayne Manor and harassing Alfred was just funny. And it made Alfred hitting him with a chair in the end better. I thought his rooftop battle with the Batman was pretty creative, and I liked that Alfred dressed up as Batman to fool the journalist. Also how he intentionally kicked their video tape into the fire.)
12/13. The Rubber Face of Comedy/The Clayface of Tragedy - 4/5 (The cops literally have Joker at gunpoint but they let him proceed with his slow getaway. I'm starting to understand why Batman keeps one-upping them. Great two-parter though, but part 1 is really nothing but setup for the real meat which is part 2. Part 1 is just about Joker causing chaos again, except the tone is more dramatic on account of this being meant to be more serious than the average episode. And while Joker's antics are fun, given how little it had to do with part 2 other than him being the cause for Bennett becoming Clayface, they didn't really need to spend a WHOLE episode for just that setup. It results in part 1 being just good, while part 2 is fantastic. Sadly, combined, I can't give them 5/5. But part 2 gets that honorary score for itself. You could have cut Joker's generic havoc-wreaking in half and have the Clayface transformation start around the 10 minute mark of part 1, leaving you with about 30 minutes to develop it further. But then they couldn't have that cliffhanger, now could they?
As for the actual story... Depressing. I'd say it's a bit early to change the status quo of Bennett since while he is a good character, we haven't really seen MUCH of him, so it's not a huge blow to suddenly make him a villain. But it's a pretty good, genuinely saddening twist regardless. And while the emotional moments feel a little hurried (hence why you could have cut some Joker nonsense) I think they're effective enough. Yin crying, etc. And Bennett's transformation itself is genuinely horrifying stuff, so you really feel the fear he must be going through.)
14. The Cat, the Bat, and the Very Ugly - 3/5 (And now we're on villain team-up episodes. Except they're still just generic stories about them wanting to steal stuff! Well, okay, I guess Penguin DOES want to use the relics to... I don't know, blow stuff up? It just isn't very riveting is all. I do find Batman and Catwoman being stuck to each other interesting in theory, but they don't really do much fun with it. And why did Batman lie to Yin about it? I guess he's worried he'll look suspicious if he's with Catwoman, but also, he could have just told the truth? The lie just incriminated him more. I also question this because the episode ends with Yin TRUSTING Batman, which makes no sense if she literally caught him in a lie the FIRST time she called him about a case.)
15. Riddled - 3/5 (That's certainly a unique version of Riddler. I respect it, simply because it's fun that the show dares to completely revamp characters like this. But the episode itself is mostly just decent. Yin and Bats going across town solvring riddles is mildly fun, but the actual confrontation with Riddler is just okay. I did like the 20 questions game, but couldn't Batman easily get out of that by not answering? I found it funny how dense the Police Chief was to understand even the simplest riddles, especially with how bluntly Yin had to explain the last one. Side note: Riddler uses the term "brainiac" in this. But that term exists because of the Superman character. So has a Brianiac attack on Metropolis happened here and been made publicly known or what?)
16. Fire & Ice - 4/5 (Gee, with a title like that, I sure was scratching my head wondering which two villains it could be about. I'd say while this episode is good, it felt a bit thinly set up as nothing but "what if ice villain with fire villain??". I did find it amusing that they turned on each other near the end and the conflict just became Heat vs. Cold. That scene with Yin yapping about knowing Bruce's secret though... Give me a break. Even if they WERE gonna have her find out his secret identity, that's most certainly saved for a Serious:tm: season finale or something with heavy stakes, not a random Firefly episode.)
17. The Laughing Bat - 4/5 (Golden concept for an episode. Joker trying to imitate the Batman is unhinged and hilarious. And Penguin being caught in the crossfire completely discombobulated by the switcheroo was great. Praise aside, I was a little disappointed that Batman turning into Joker didn't go further than...he can't stop laughing. Couldn't have Joker-ified him any more? White skin? ANYTHING else to have him also vaguely look the part? Overall I also felt there was too much focus on Bruce laughing as opposed to Joker being the Batman, when that was the best part.)
18. Swamped - 3/5 (While I appreciate that this is a villain introduction episode that goes beyond them being a jewel thief", Croc wasn't too interesting. He wants to flood Gotham because he likes water, but then Batman stops him. Although I liked the way he did it by forcing him to stay in water. :ohgood: Also neat that this episode introduces the Batcave "museum". This series gradually introducing all of these iconic aspects of Batman lore as opposed to having it all pre-established is fun.)
19. Pets - 4/5 (Season 2 really IS the season of villain team-ups. I was rolling my eyes at the prospect of another generic Penguin episode of him wanting to steal stuff, but got my excitement back up when they showed Langstrom. Although they could have devoted some more time to Langstrom actually being aware of Penguin's scheme and wanting out instead of just... One. And overall, it IS just another episode where Penguin tries to steal stuff, so yeah.)
20. Meltdown - 4/5 (Wow, this was JUST like the Batman Beyond episode "Meltdown". While a good episode, I have to say the Bennett-Clayface conflict feels a bit forced at times. Him repeatedly getting into encounters with Joker, the very man who caused him to become Clayface, and struggling with not morphing to take his rightful revenge? Valid. Understandable. But him randomly being willing to kill Batman and become an outlaw on a whim? I don't know. His fight scene against Joker on stilts was pretty fun though. That said, Bennett is a good guy and all that, so I'm hopeful for a redemption arc where in the end he becomes a superhero with his powers.)
21. JTV - 4/5 (It's another Joker shenanigans episode. What is there to say? Not that that's a bad thing, since Joker shenanigans ARE fun. He concocts some nutty TV show-themed scheme, and then Batman stops him. Cash was a bit of an annoying inclusion though. Did he even serve any narrative purpose? I guess he vaguely emphasizes how well Yin and Batman work together, by him working badly with her. I did like the "animated" JTV promo. But who even made that? I guess one of Joker's henchmen can animate.)
22. Ragdolls to Riches - 4/5 (Oh boy, the umpteenth episode about a villain stealing some jewels. Wait, it's TWO villains this time. Wow, this changes everything! Jokes aside, it actually kind of does, because Ragdoll is entertaining enough on his own. His costume is cool and unique in its simplicity, and his distorting body leads to some very expressive movements and action which make for a fun watch. And if that wasn't enough, his rivarly with Catwoman and repeatedly trolling her on purpose was pretty darn amusing. Though despite being the titular character, the episode is mostly about the Bruce/Batman/Selina/Catwoman mystery. It is fun seeing the "4" of them interact and not realize who the other is. Especially when Batman, the world's greatest detective, believes Selina's blatant charity scam and hands her a huge check. It's funny seeing Bruce be this oblivious.)
23. The Butler Did It - 3/5 (Another flipping jewel thievery episode! At least there's a mystery element to it this time, in that you initially don't know who the villain is. And when you do find out it's Spellbinder, there's the twist that he swaps his mind control targets from butlers to their employers. And it was really fun to see Alfred be the one to figure this out and escape the room he put himself in to save Batman's ass. I liked the bit where Batman hesitated to punch Alfred. And I think some of the hallucinations were fairly creative. That said, it was still a jewel thievery episode! Get some new plots, show.)
24. Grundy's Night - 4/5 (While I did have thoughts on this version of Grundy, those feel irrelevant when it turns out he was just Clayface in disguise anyway. That said, props for making a twist I could genuinely not predict. However, the reason I couldn't have predicted this is because after all that development of Bennett and his descent into Clayface, I wouldn't have expected his next appearance to just be him doing something generically villainous that Batman must put a stop to. It comes off as a bit awkward, because you'd think this would be more emotionally significant considering he was Bruce's best friend. But not only do we not even see his Bennett form in this episode, Batman doesn't even refer to him as such, just "Clayface". And then he goes home all cheery as if he stopped any ol' twerp. Huh?)
25. Strange Minds - 4/5 (While this episode falls into "Joker shenanigans" territory again, at least the focus here is less about just stopping him and instead delving into his mind. It leads to the zaniness being cranked up more, which is fun to see especially with how expressive Joker is in this show. Although I feel like they could have been a bit more creative with the visuals. I liked the flying fish, Joker as the moon, and the normal Joker managing the idea vault. But other than that it doesn't get more wacky then just a crowd of Jokers. But I liked the solution of how Batman made him disclose the information by making him think they had exited his mind. Cliché, but clever. It's a bit weird how Hugo Strange spots Batman in Joker's mind and immediately assumes it's the actual guy, though. For all he knows that could have been mentally conjured up by Joker. Batman would likely be on his mind a lot. Also, Harley Yin.)
26. Night and the City - 4/5 (Woah, TRIPLE villain teamup? Daring today, are we? I liked that Penguin didn't even know who Riddler was. And despite that, he's clearly stomping both Penguin and Joker in this contest. He came up with the idea to catch Batman in the first place, had the most elaborate bat-bait AND was the last guy standing in a fight against him. Joker and Penguin just followed Batman and quickly fumbled. I guess with Commissioner Gordon and the Bat-Signal being introduced in this episode that this marks the end of Batman being an enemy of the GCPD. Not that I mind, since while I liked the development of it, with Bennett gone and Yin already on his side, there wasn't a lot further you could push it. It's a shame this is Yin's last appearance, though. I don't really understand why, since while she's fired in this episode (for like what, a few hours?), she gets the job back and everything goes back to normal. Frankly it would have been more interesting if she WAS fired and then became a vigilante herself/sidekick to Batman as referenced in this very episode.)
Movie: The Batman vs. Dracula - 3/5 (Starting the story with Joker and Penguin? Yeah, this is a The Batman movie alright. They really can't help but spam these two villains. That said, decent movie, but I'm really scratching my head as to why they thought Dracula was the ultimate villain they could utilize for it. There is some thematic connection with him being able to transform into a bat, obviously... But that's as deep as it goes. And the few bits of Bruce recalling the death of his parents was like, come on, you really felt a need to rely on that as a plotpoint in a movie about Dracula?
The film, much like the show, is fairly barebones. Dracula rises and wants to take over Gotham, so Batman must stop him. The side story of Bruce having a romance with Vickly Vale feels very tacked on and pointless since not only was she not much of an interesting character, just a dime a dozen love interest, but she doesn't even appear in the series going forward. So, what? Also, did Bruce really need to hastily steal someone's lipstick and a platter to write "Alucard" and mirror it to figure out it spells Dracula backwards? Just rearrange the letters in your head.
The most interesting thing about the movie is it gets slightly more visually grim. Stuff Penguin bleeding in the beginning alone was a surprise, as tame as it was, because that's not something I would have thought the censors would allow. Of course I quickly realized it was plot relevant, but then they immediately go on to show Dracula "killing" a guy. Which, while I know having finished the movie that he was cured, the way the scene initially portrays it is obviously supposed to make you think that's what happened. There's also Joker practically bathing in blood and Dracula literally being burned alive in the end. Sheesh. So much for Batman's code. Vampire Joker is probably the best part of this movie. That blood bank scene is really cursed [good thing], and KMR's performance of Joker starving while Batman has him locked up was great. I mean Batman having to feed Joker his own blood just so he doesn't starve is a fairly unique plotpoint. Also his reaction to being un-vampire'd is pretty funny. "Where's Dracula?" "I'm looking at him".)

Konnichiwa, Annyeong hasimnikka and hello guys and girls. I'm back with the third trilogy of homebrew sub-factions. This time, we'll take a look to the far east, where the Empire of Rising Sun used to be, at least in Red Alert 3 timeline. In the lands of Korean Peninsula and Japan Island, a branch of GDI, the Japan-Korea Defense Initiative (J-KDI) is in charge. This concept based on the Empire of Rising Sun from RA3 with many touches to fit in the scenario of the Tiberium Universe. As this region unique geography, society, economical and technological advances, the sub-faction leaned more toward urban warfare, drone combat and the fragile but versatile mech walker.
As you already know, the Steel Talon also favor walkers but their mech are crude, rugged and focus on late-game punch, J-KDI mechs are more futuristic, high-tech, highly versatile, which is an odd for GDI doctrine, but when taking their operating region into account, the feat seem not very complicated, as Japan and Korea are the least suffered from the first two Tiberium Wars and designated as Blue Zones (Yes, even North Korea is a Blue Zone, maybe Kane get scared, who know?). So, without any further ado, let dive in.

Originally created by the United Nations as a branch of GDI in charge of Japan and Korean region and after decades maintaining security and prosperity with advancing in technologies, J-KDI is one of the most renowned division within GDI. They often active in Japan Main Islands and Korean Peninsula, which saw little Tiberium infestation and stable politic and economic environments. During the chaotic time before the Second Tiberium War, the three governments met with GDI presentative and strike a deal: The three countries will accept GDI officials, tactics, policies and complied to mobilization orders in exchange for maintaining their own decree of independent, including the right to command and develop their own army with access to some GDI technologies. This deal has led to the birth a semi-independent regional forces within GDI, known as Japan-Korea Defense Initiative (J-KDI).
One of J-KDI unique characteristic is due to they mostly operate in large city, thus their arsenal is modified to suit urban combats. With their freedom in R&D and a huge sum of budget to do so, their units seem more futuristic and sometime unrealistic compare to normal GDI war machines. Most noticeable is they managed to recovered old prototypes from older projects, upgraded and let them enter services once again. With North Korea also in the mix, J-KDI also employed well trained armed military polices and tactical nuclear ballistic weapons. On the other side, J-KDI saw limited use of aircraft and cannot access to Ion Cannons due to GDI constrictions, however, they soon found out other "solutions" to fulfill their role.
In recent years, J-KDI had found a new talent, Dr. Liang, brother of Jade Liang, a NOD notorious commander. Dr. Liang worked side by side with his sister Jade in the GDI research labs until they were both accidentally exposed to raw Tiberium. Liang chose to amputate his arm rather than succumb to mutation. He now dedicates himself to finding ways to heal wounds of all kinds with most of his research into pilotless vehicles. And Dr. Liang, who in need of a sponsor met with J-KDI, who scouting for talents in robotics and drone vehicles, thus Dr. Liang was recruited as chief scientist and a battle commander for J-KDI. His contributed in drones and AI developments helped J-KDI advanced further to their vision of a futuristic army, until the end of Third Tiberium War, that is ...

  • Missile Silo replaces Ion Cannon: Sponsored by United Republic of Korea, these things make NOD green with envy. It can launch a tactical nuclear strike delivered by an ICBM with 5 tactical nuclear MIRV warheads at the target location anywhere on the map. If this is not enough, J-KDI commanders can purchase additional warheads at the Silo. Each warheads cost 1500$ and each ICBM can carry 10 warheads at most.

  • Riot Squad replaces Riflemen Squad: Basic infantry/policeman armed with mini assault rifles, riot shield and flash bang. They are studier but slower than their counterpart and trained to clear garrisoned building. On the flip side, they can throw flash bang at enemies infantry, which stunned for a while.
  • Dragonfly Drone: Flying scout drones armed with EMP Immobilizer, which can disable ground vehicle. It can ordered to charge and self-destruct in an EMP explosion, hopefully damaging anything around it. Require Command Post.
  • Service Drone: Flying support drone with timed life that can repair or heal adjacent allies units. Can only summoned through Instant Service support power.

  • Cannot build Rig and Mammoth Tank.

  • Robo Tengu replaces Guardian APC: Anti-infantry hover walker, first designed for security, then converted for military use. It can upgrade to transform into the Jet Tengu, a VTOL air superiority fighter. Can detect stealth.
  • Striker-VX: Anti-air walker that can spew out surface-to-air missiles into air. It can upgraded to transform into the Chopper-VX, to combat incoming ground targets with air-to-surface missiles. Require Command Post.
  • Megalodon: Powerful assault walker designed for melee combat with plasma blade, excellence durability and quite fast (for a heavy tank). It also immune to hijacking, mind control and only slowed down by EMP effects. Commandos, however, can plant charges on it legs to bring it down. It leaves behind a husk when destroyed, which can be captured or destroyed. Require Tech Center.

Notable Events
  1. Clear House. Location: Kobe, Japan. After the Firestorm Crisis, Empire of Japan and the United Republic of Korea, designated as Blue Zones B-6 and B-7, entered a decade of rapid development thanks to geography locations, efficient governments and technological advances. But shadows of previous conflicts still remained and now, they stir once again. Dr. Liang, a newly appointed chief scientist of J-KDI, accompanied by Battle Commander Sato in a riot control mission in Kobe. The investigators discovered that riots incited by the local Yakuza and backed by NOD. A MCV with escort arrived and quelled the riots by destroyed all hidden NOD infrastructures around the city. At one of the base, J-KDI found documents about a large operation in nearby Osaka Port.
  2. Hand of Darkness. Location: Osaka, Japan. From the documents J-KDI discovered NOD had secretly taken control of Osaka Port operations through several Yakuza shell companies. There, they established a base, hidden by Disruption Towers to wait for a "special shipment" arrive. J-KDI sent a Commando task force to intercept the cargo. As the Commando arrived, he cut through NOD patrols and secured the cargo ship. With the cargo carried away by a V-35 Ox, J-KDI sent in their MCV to build a base and proceed to eliminate NOD presence in the port.
  3. Hidden Vipers. Location: Ningbo, China. The cargo contained parts of a liquid Tiberium base explosive device and from NOD captives and documents, they intended stage a "test" in Tokyo area. This information raised concern for both J-KDI and GDI alike as such attack will cause massive casualties. Doctor Liang traced back the device is manufactured in Ningbo, China and had signatures of his sister, Jade Liang, now a defector. GDI Council authorized a joined assault on China Yellow Zone and put a stop to these devices production. After a bombardment, Steel Talon vanguards landed at the port while J-KDI mech wings escort Hovercraft upstream Yong Jiang river to strike at the rear. However, the city is defended by Emerald Vipers, a NOD faction specialized in toxic and liquid-T weapon. The Vipers led by Jade resisted fiercely to defend their facilities but crushed eventually. Jade escaped with only a handful of troops and GDI claimed their victory.
  4. Incoming Storm. Location: Tumangang, North Korea. Several years passed since NOD Incursion and GDI slowly diminished their military forces. But J-KDI still maintained their semi-independent status and continued to developed new weapons. Recently, there words of a huge NOD armored column pushed down from Siberia toward the Korean Peninsula. Commander Sato had been mobilized to Tumangang in the Russia-North Korea border to intercept NOD advance. He arrived and begin fortified river crossing just before NOD first wave arrived. After the first wave intercepted, second wave arrived and set up shops at the opposite river bank. From there, NOD aircraft and infantry can support the third and fourth wave directly, giving Sato a hard time, however, no vehicle crossed the river. Just before the last wave, Sato receive information about the attacks on GDSS Philadelphia and Japan. He quickly finished the last wave and returned to Japan.
  5. Day at the bay. Location: Yokohama, Japan. NOD attacked a GDI Council's installations in Yokohama and J-KDI called in as reinforcement to take back Ion Cannon Control Centers there. However, there early reports that another GDI force already there. Feeling something amiss, Commander Sato send a Commando and a Sniper Team to investigate the situation. Turned out, a GDI Insurgent, the Dark Eyes Insurgency (D.E.I) had taken control of the Ion Control Centers there and in process of stealing an Ion Cannon for there usage. After a brief skirmish, Sato cannot stop the D.E.I from finished taking control an Ion Cannon. At this point, the D.E.I commander propose a deal with Sato, as they willingly to help him take back the vital port of Yokohama in exchange for a blind eye, as GDI Council not giving J-KDI access to Ion Cannon Network either. Having no better choice, Sato agreed and the combined GDI wiped out remaining NOD foothold in Yokohama. Before leaving, the D.E.I generously provide Sato a shocking new: Dr. Liang life is under threat by his little sister, as she going to attack at San Diego Conference, where Dr. Liang and many GDI top scientist currently in.
  6. Santa Coming, Too. Location: San Diego, California. Dr. Liang and San Diego base had been warned about the coming of NOD forces. However, the defense of the base fall in local GDI hands, as Dr. Liang forces are only a handful of guards and mechs. As the Vipers approached, they were caught surprised by J-KDI transform mechs and Vipers aircraft soon removed out the sky as their home Air Tower destroyed. This angered Jade and she soon send in more troops to the meat grinder. In the moment the base about to fall, an APCOM reinforcement wing arrived and bombed NOD forces to oblivion. Jade herself forced to abandoned the battle, leaving behind many Vipers casualties behind.
  7. Relics of the Past. Location: Point Hope, Alaska. Having stabilized the Blue Zones, GDI High Command planned for a retaliation strike at NOD. J-KDI Command didn't sit still either, as they're dangerously close to the China Yellow Zone. However, to J-KDI also lack the capability to strike deep into China mainland where NOD headquarter is. Dr. Liang proposed a bold idea: by using an old experimental device Allied forces used during the Third World War, they can teleport a limited number of vehicle directly at NOD headquarter and destroy NOD from inside out. However, this device currently mothballed in a abandoned base in Alaska, with rumors of NOD activities in the region. As the plan when through by GDI High Command, Dr. Liang and Sato lead and expedition to dig out the old Chronosphere and charged it to full. While Dr. Liang busy restore and recharge the Chronosphere, Commander Sato take charge of a naval battle with two NOD Battleships and their escort.
  8. Chrono You Didn't. Location: Nanchang, China. With the old Chronosphere device fully charged, J-KDI begin their raid on NOD Asian Headquarter in China. After clear out a NOD outpost, a MCV with some mech teleported and begin set up shops at the west bank of the river. Local Black Hand alerted of J-KDI presence and sent a Purifier with a few Scorpions to intercept GDI but soon torn to shed by mech reinforcement. This, however, do not deter the Black Hand and NOD from sending in more troop and vehicles at the J-KDI base, stalling J-KDI advance for a time. After a few round of reinforcements, Dr. Liang inform commander Sato that the Chronosphere will reach it limit soon, but a ZOCOM commander volunteer to arrived at a last batch reinforcement. A ZOCOM MCV with some vehicle and two MARVs soon teleported in was the last reinforcement, but they are more than enough. Together with ZOCOM, J-KDI pushed forward and even destroyed a Black Hand Redeemer, forcing them to retreat. The main NOD base soon followed suit and fall to the combined might of the two MARVs. With their Command Headquarter destroyed, NOD forces in China soon fall to disarray. This mission is a total victory.
  9. Doomsday Countdown. Location: Incheon, South Korea. The situation in the Far East is stabled and only minor NOD resistances remained but a large number of NOD had escaped their demise. Peace finally there, but it is short lived, as the Earth under attack by an unknown Aliens. There crafts landed across the globe and their forces strike in every Blue and Yellow Zones. A Drone Platform had landed in Incheon and Commander Sato sent to deal with it. A strike team arrived from sea and encountered heavy Alien patrols. Battleship called for bombards to clear a landing zone for an J-KDI outpost. The alien deployed their Rift Generator, intend using it to wipe out any humans resistant. In face such mass destruction weapons, J-KDI authorized the use of Tactical Nukes and a Silo is deployed. With the help of a EMP Control Center, J-KDI disrupt the Rift Generator long enough for their forces to destroyed the Rift Generator and nuked the Drone Platform along with any remained Aliens to oblivion.
  10. Under the Sacred Mountain. Location: Mt. Fuji, Japan. When Commander Sato busy dealing with the aliens in Hiroshima, Dr. Liang received distress signals from a GDI facility in Mt. Fuji. Apparently, his little sister, Jade attacked the facility to eliminate a high ranking NOD defector sheltered there. But the Aliens arrival foiled her plan and now she caught in the crossfire between GDI and Aliens. This opportunity cannot be missed but J-KDI had given order to prioritized the defector safety first, thus Dr. Liang led reinforcements to Mt. Fuji. He arrived from the north to the final GDI base there while Jade three base besieging them. As for the Aliens, there coming from the South, keep hammering Jade from behind. J-KDI first recaptured the Power Plant to reactivate the remain defend system, which temporally push Jade forces back. Afterward, they begin to hammer Jade bases while she fend off the Aliens. Cannot withstand any further, Jade flee again, abandoned remaining forces to their fate. The Aliens also dealt with afterward and the defector escorted to safety.
  11. Shipwright. Location: Naval Base White Beach, Okinawa. A ZOCOM aircraft carrier task force arrived in Okinawa for emergency repair and refuel. The carrier carried with it a special cargo and under attack by the Reaper-17 pursuers. J-KDI sent Commander Sato to unsured the cargo safety. When be Carrier under repaired, all sirens sounded as Alien Storm Riders approached, but all shot down. Soon, more Aliens ground forces arrived along the north beach while more Storm Riders flied in from the sea. J-KDI and ZOCOM hold off the Aliens long enough for the Carrier Task force to repair and refuel, then escort the task force to high sea, after destroyed the Alien foothold in the region, of course.
  12. Race of Arms. Location: Threshold 14, Guangdong, China. The cargo had reached safety in the high sea while the Aliens pursuer retreated. GDI High Command, alerted of Alien's Towers in the Red Zone, planned to destroyed them before they finished constructing. J-KDI had been assigned to bring down the Tower in China Red Zone, code name Threshold 14. When the vanguard arrived, they found themself not only facing Alien but also NODs. Under pressure from both side, J-KDI hold on to their footholds while withering down Alien and NOD forces. Soon, Dr. Liang informed that a special Chrono delivery is coming. Commander Sato send the signal for three warheads to teleported near the Phase Generators and denotate them, reduced a huge chunk of Alien base to dust. With the Phase Generators outed, the Tower is now vulnerable and a nuclear strike later, it blew to smithereens.
  13. Of Brother and Sister. Location: Giraud-Moebius Tiberium Crater. Five years after the Third Tiberium War, GDI now stand victorious and the Brotherhood back to it shadows once more, J-KDI busying rebuild their city and society when Dr. Liang receive a shocking news, his sister, Jade Liang had betrayed Kane and now withdrawn to her final stronghold deep within Central Asia Red Zone. Dr. Liang asked for permission to finish business with his sister and authorized by GDI High Command. As Jade stronghold is hard to breached, J-KDI use a more bold approach, drop a MCV dropped from orbit inside her compound and destroy it from within. As J-KDI about to attack, the Marked of Kane already begun their assault. This created distraction needed for the MCV to make land fall and how can Dr. Liang refuse such a chance. A MCV task force dropped behind Jade lines and start to set up shops while Jade busy fighting cyborgs. Only when she realized her defend line pincered by both mechs and cyborgs then it is already too late. Not willing give up, Jade activated four Cloning Vats, devices left behind from Soviet-era that can clones every infantry Jade forces have trained. Fortunately, the Kenan Corp reinforcements arrived and together, the three forces pushed toward Jade headquarter. Jade in her madness, denotate a Liquid-T Bomb, intended to take the attacker down but ultimately failed and captured by J-KDI troops. After a brief conversation, Dr. Liang bid farewell to his sister and handed her to a cyborg, then a gunshot rang ....

I got to really dig into the Homeworld 3 campaign yesterday, and I found it really frustrating. Because I really, really like the bones of the game and I can SEE what they want it to do, but it still needs some serious UI/control scheme improvements. So I'm just going to list things in no particular order that I think they could focus on.
1. Zoom levels are screwed. The regular camera can't zoom out enough while the sensor view can't zoom in enough. But why!? There is absolutely no reason to limit zoom like this, how the hell is zooming in on a ship going to lower the quality of the strategic sensor view???
2. Ships are clumsy. I've actually worked on a spaceship game before and I know exactly how this happens: you want your capital ship to take extra damage from the back, so your fighters can run circles around it. But it doesn't work because the ship can turn to face them, so you slowly make the big ship slower and slower to move.
This isn't the end of the world, but the game also wants to have ships maneuver around terrain and do other cool things, which directly conflicts with clumsy ships.
Example 1: there is a campaign level that copies the original Homeworld, where there are asteroids constantly flying from the side and you have to maneuver your fleet through them. But the asteroids fly about TWICE as fast as they did in the original, and dodging them is extremely unfun. This is because giving a capital ship an order to turn, or move up or down, causes the ship to stop its forward motion until the turn/elevation is done, and THEN resume its forward motion. Ships seem to avoid moving diagonally: I think they were probably coded this way to make them better at maneuvering around space terrain but it makes maneuvering in open space pretty bad.
Example 2: ships with an attack order often move WAY closer than they need to. This is particularly awful for Ion frigates and other ships that must face their target, because their default behavior is to rush into a scramble of ships and lose effectiveness. On the flip side, railgun corvettes that are given an attack order on a close enemy will back off in a straight line, which means your group of corvettes might split off in different directions and drift into range of more enemies.
The ship movement is bad, which wouldn't be a big deal for many games. But this game has such a huge, ambitious variety of ships that need to move in very specific ways, that the bad ship movement becomes a much bigger problem than it normally would be.
3. Non-pausing cutscenes. The campaign does this, and it's one of the most unforgivable things that any game can do. When the game starts a cutscene, you lose all control. Sometimes, everything keeps shooting and you just hope you don't lose much, and sometimes ships stop firing during the cutscene BUT THEY STILL MOVE.
One campaign mission tells you, "the enemy is about to arrive over there, you should set up an ambush." Then a few seconds later, a cutscene has the enemy arrive, BUT NOT WHERE IT SAID THEY WOULD. The cutscene shows the enemy ships fly through the gate and mosey on over past your fleet to another spot, and during this time your entire fleet executes whatever move orders it had. Did you order your mothership near the gate, but didn't order your frigates yet? Well surprise, your fleet is now split 30 seconds apart! The game constantly enters cutscenes while spawning enemies directly on top of you, and while you're usually not in grave danger, it's still a fecal-quality design. Stop giving RTS mission designers too many cutscene privileges!
4. Camera controls are bad. I know they wanted to compromise between "old" Homeworld and "new" Homeworld, but you really do have to customize in order to get anything that works. 3D cameras are hard to figure out but they aren't THIS hard: have it so middle-mouse clicking on any object centers the camera on that object, and don't have insane zoom limits that make it harder than it should be. In fact, you should probably have an object list on the side of the screen, similar to Eve Online's Overview, so people can just click an object to center camera on it. That system works just fine with hundreds of objects.
I really love what they've done with the game: they pretty much rebuilt Homeworld 1 brick for brick, the exact same game, and then they started adding, seeming like they want to end up with double or triple the number of options. Even if those options are just simple modifiers like "double range Ions," they completely refresh the game and are extremely fun to play around with. I also like what they've done with space terrain...in theory. The problem is that the basic control scheme and ship movement CANNOT support these mechanics. If you can't order your ships to hide behind a wall in space, the entire mechanic is useless! As the sergeant once said, "Your enemy cannot push a button, if you disable his hand!"

5. Submarine physics, not Space physics. It took me a while to notice this, but the original Homeworld games used SPACE physics. If you order a capital ship to move up, it tilts up and flies straight ahead. It can shoot at enemies properly, and if you tell it to stop, it keeps its orientation. Homeworld 3 does not have space physics, it has submarine physics: you tell your ships to fly up and they RISE, still pointing "horizontally". This is particularly crazy because 3D space physics was the most famous and important part of the original Homeworld games, and they ripped it out entirely!
One mission near the end was very cinematic, but once you see that the devs aren't smart enough to think in 3D, you can't unsee it. There's a long and gorgeous cinematic of the mothership flying through cracks in a space iceberg, and then you emerge on the other side, and IT'S ALL OPEN SPACE!!! Everyone's going "aha, we found the secret hidden location" and I'm shouting IT'S NOT HIDDEN YOU CAN FLY AROUND THE ICE! And then the game treats the ice as "down" and space as "up" and all your ships orient parallel to the ice, and the enemy attacks you along the ice. I can kinda understand the idea of taking cover along the ice shelf? But the enemy isn't trying to take cover, they're trying to find and attack you, so it makes infinitely more sense that they would approach from open space.
The mission is really cinematic and cool, but it was just ruined for me when I realized that they should have had the ice wall be VERTICAL with all of your ships facing away from it, and the enemy attacking you from outer space instead. Remember, we are IN SPACE and can choose our orientation: it makes sense for the defenders to point their guns AWAY from the giant ice wall, and it makes sense for the attackers to approach from open space where they have the best visibility and the widest angles for a crossfire. Having the ice shelf be "down" just portrays a fundamental lack of understanding on the level designers' part.

Yahoo database breach
The Yahoo data breach occurred in August 2013 and affected all 3 billion users. The breach was revealed to the public in September of 2016. There is no doubt Yahoo breach stands as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities in our digital lives, compromising names, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, and security questions of millions.
What’s more, users of platforms Tumblr and Flickr were also caught in the crossfire.
Ukraine Cyberattack
In June of 2017, Ukraine faced what's now considered one of history's most devastating cyber-attacks, all stemming from a seemingly innocuous source: accounting software. The notorious NotPetya malware was spread by a centralized update to MeDoc tax accounting software widely used by many Ukrainian businesses. But its reach didn’t stop there. This insidious malware went global, affecting 65 countries and roughly 50,000 systems, including European and US companies.
The fallout? A staggering loss surpassing the US over US $10 billion.
Alibaba Cyberattack
In November 2019, a significant breach struck Alibaba’s popular Chinese shopping platform, Taobao, sending shockwaves through its user base of over 1.1 billion individuals. The breach stemmed from a bug in Facebook’s contact importer code, providing hackers with a gateway to access user data. The pilfered data was brazenly posted online for free consumption.
