2024.06.09 05:51 lovachick I 30F met a sweet sweet man 27M but im confused on the signals he's giving me, its been almost 2 months since we've known each other, should i reach out or does he have another girl?

Hi everyone!
I'm a 30-year-old woman (F) and I met a 27-year-old guy (M) named A on my birthday night. He was with a girl, but they were just friends and didn't even go home together. I didn't even notice him at first. His friend B tried to hit on me and my friend, but I wasn't interested. We ended up at his friend A's house, and that's when I noticed A. We hit it off, and I made the first move. We slept together that night (although I told him to use a condom and he didn't, which is concerning).
The next day, he messaged me (I think he gave me his work number and lied about his age). He thanked me for coming over and said he'd love to take me out. I said yes, but then didn't hear from him for over two weeks.
He finally messaged me again on a Thursday afternoon and we made plans for Saturday. I even told him I was on my period, but he didn't care. He just wanted to see me. We talked about the plans, but then he stopped texting me Thursday night and didn't reply until Friday night. Since he confirmed the plans twice already, I didn't respond. He finally messaged again on Saturday at noon to confirm, picked me up that evening, and we had a great date. He was a perfect gentleman, paid for everything, and waited until I was safely inside before leaving.
Since I was off my period, I made another move, but things got confusing. He even posted me on his Instagram, but when I asked him to tag me, he said it was "too soon" because he didn't want me to think differently of him based on his posts. I found this strange since he's single. We ended up adding each other anyway, but I noticed he follows and likes a lot of girls on his social media.
That night, I texted him to thank him for the date. He replied the next evening with a sweet message, saying I "make him crazy" and that he misses me already. I just liked the message.
On Wednesday, he texted wanting to talk, but then stopped replying mid-conversation. On Friday, he asked me to hang out last minute, but I couldn't make it. He said "okay, hope to see you soon" with a broken heart emoji.
Then, he sent a sweet Happy Mother's Day text, but we didn't talk for another week. He finally texted again, asking how I was doing. Since he stopped replying before, I decided to give him the same energy and didn't respond.
A week later, on a Friday night, I asked if he wanted to go out with me and my girlfriends the next night. He agreed, and he even took me home afterwards. It was cute – I was singing a song and he grabbed my face to kiss me.
The next night, he texted me until I stopped replying. There's been no contact for almost two weeks now. I've been quiet on social media because I don't want him to see my posts and suddenly text me.
I'm so confused!
That night we met, I was tipsy, and he asked if I was looking for something casual. I said "no" because I'm learning to be on my own. I don't remember the whole conversation, but he also asked if I get jealous in relationships, and I think I lied and said no. I told him I didn't want to talk about it while tipsy.
Sorry this is so long, but I'm just so confused! We seem to have a connection, but we hardly talk. The last time we saw each other, I asked him to hang out next weekend, and he promised, but neither of us texted that whole weekend! Why hasn't he texted me?
He keeps telling me he wants to txt me but tht he thinks im so busy w my son, i told him to pls text me. he claims his love language is communication. It feels mixed messages and makes me wonder if he has another girl.

2024.06.09 05:50 sacred-heart-marmar I 26f caught Boyfriend 30M lying about talking to ex, should I forgive him or move on?

I really need advice. My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost two years but did take a 3 month break in the fall of 2023. since getting back together things have been pretty wonderful, only struggling with some of the same hiccups, but working through them better than we did previously. I just took a 2week trip with him to the east coast. And on the last day I found out he’s been lying to me about being in contact with his ex. I don’t know if I can forgive him or not. I feel blindsided, devastated, deceived, and manipulated. I love him and truly thought we’d share a future together. Now I want to preface the texting situation by saying that he wasn’t texting her anything inappropriate necessarily but was talking with her too closely for my liking, I’d say emotion support and maybe very minor flirting / overly friendliness. Im more devastated about the lying part and the fact that it didn’t seem like a minor lie- but a very strategic one. He’s told me multiple times he hasn’t spoken to her except when we first broke up he did contact her to see how she was doing. (Which doesn’t bother me I guess because we weren’t together anyway and I was surprised he even told me I guess. ) He really values her as a friend and said he doesn’t want to be with her but for some reason it seems like he can’t just let her go. I do understand some of us are friends with our exes over time but when we very first started dating she called him drunk and still wanted to be together, so I’ve clearly expressed I’m not comfortable with their friendship at the moment bc feelings are obviously still there. I pulled him aside one day on our trip and was very vulnerable with him, asked calmly if they still talk because I get this feeling in my gut at times and it makes me uneasy, I just want resssured. He held me closely and said along the lines of “I’m not that kind of man. I truly value and respect you. I would not contact her unless I talked to you about it first and if you were comfortable. Maybe one day I’ll want to be friends with her again but I know right now isn’t the time. I love you so much and I know it’s a boundary.” He seemed so sincere. He’s always this sincere. I just kept getting this nagging feeling like he was hiding or lying to me. I can’t explain it other than something didn’t feel right. I politely asked to go through his phone a few days later (Which I’ve never done btw because I think that personal privacy is so important and I’ve never really had a problem with trusting him so I’ve never felt the need) He freaked out bad. Like bad bad. Told me no. Said I was unhealthy. Started shouting “I’m not talking to ex” but the funny thing is… I never mentioned said ex. He also said he didn’t want me to “misconstrue messages with his friends who are girls” which was another red flag for me because if he’s being respectful, why would there be anything to be misconstrued? I would happily give him my phone and he could look through any messages with any of my male friends and I firmly believe nothing would be misconstrued. And I know that he has friends who are girls and that genuinely doesn’t bother me, in fact I love a few of them such as one from work and his neighbor! I told him I was leaving him. He finally said he would allow me to see his phone. He gave it to me and then started freaking out again. Acting like someone who is guilty I suppose. Pacing back and forth. Yelling at me. Telling me I was unhealthy, that this is toxic, etc. I only had it for 5 mins before he snatched it from me. I didn’t get to look at his insta in which he said was a place he didn’t want messages misconstrued. I Didn’t get to look at messages from his other friends who were girls, nothing. I did however find messages between him and his ex. They joked about plans for his 40th birthday. Which I was planning with him recently and wanted to take him to Thailand bc it’s his dream. They had emotional convos, he was sending her pictures of things he was up to like sitting at the beach, he gave her his address, they also joked about whether or not she should send a bday gift (bc he was dating me) she has a nickname in his phone and a cute little emoji and my name literally is just normal with no picture or anything. anyways. I was shaking. Livid. Crying. I screamed at him. I feel so deceived. He won’t even admit fully that he lied. He justifies it every time and blames me. Says that he was afraid of my reaction. Said “I didn’t tell you bc I knew you’d react like this you see?” But the things is… I reacted so poorly because he’s been lying to my face for months. They had been talking during the course of our first relationship too. I can’t be around him, talk to him, look at him. I can’t help but feel in my heart and soul that he’s hiding so so so much more. The fact that he snatched his phone from me so quickly without me being able to see anything just made me so uncomfortable. He’s also in the past went behind my back when I was sleeping and went through my phone and gaslit me when I found out. Saying that he didn’t. And then eventually admitting it when I asked again a week later. He keeps calling me unhealthy and says that normal couples don’t ask to go through phones. I thought I was genuinely being respectful by asking him and not going behind his back to look at anything. When I brought up the fact that he breeched my trust in the past by going through my phone behind my back he said “why did you stay with me then? You had a choice to leave if you think I was gaslighting you” His behavior is just really making me feel like he’s this awful person. I do realize that asking to go through someone’s phone may cause discomfort, but I just knew it my gut I guess. I know there is so much good to him. He’s really been through a lot in life, and I try to consider that because of his trauma he’s incredibly defensive and emotionally reactive at times.… I don’t believe him to be a monster but idk why he can’t be honest with me. I’ve caught him in a few other small lies and forgave him for those but every time he’s caught he’s always justifying himself. I even asked him how he doesn’t feel bad and he replied “feel bad for what?” Then eventually said “I feel bad that you’re hurt” but not for talking to his ex? We got in a huge blow out argument the day after we flew home. I feel like he had no apathy or remorse, it was honestly incredibly disturbing. I will say though that I was very angry and I called him a narcissist and a manipulator, which deeply angered him and probably really hurt too. I feel unheard and I couldn’t stand to repeatedly hear him justify why he lied instead of genuinely showing remorse and apologizing. I feel really stupid. I just don’t know what to do. I told him I needed space to process all of this but im struggling so bad with how to process. I don’t know what to think. I feel confused about who he is and my emotions are all over the place. I don’t even know how I’d reach back out. He sent me a long message saying he doesn’t want anyone but me, but that he needs time to process too. He says that I overreacted- I had also bought a plane ticket to just leave on my own without him after I caught him lying and get my own Uber but traffic was so bad that I missed the flight so had to take my Original back with him. I know that may have been an overreaction I just can’t express how awful it felt. I don’t feel like he genuinely feels any remorse and I feel he constantly makes loop holes so that it justifies his lying and makes me look like a crazy insecure girlfriend. I’m sorry this is so long. I also wanted to briefly mention that I’m also having trouble deciding what to do because we haven’t had sex in 6 months or any intimate touching. I’m always very patient and try to be understanding, but pretty much uncovered a porn addiction in which I don’t believe he’s getting help for and I don’t think he will give up. I feel so broken at the moment. He’s wonderful around my kids, knows all of my friends, I love all of his friends, on our vacation we felt so close and in love and I was so excited to feel like our relationship was becoming more permanent and family oriented. He’s my very best friend and someone who I feel understands me better than anyone else. My heart is in so much pain and I am lost. I would really love some sound advice. Thanks so much

2024.06.09 05:43 Resident_Koala_127 Taking an IRL class vs following a video tutorial

A couple years ago I took a pizza workshop that taught me more than a dozen youtube videos on making pizza and I firmly believed the same logic can be applied to sewing: making a garment assisted by an instructor beats any kind of learning by online tutorials, until my experience this week.
I follow a local designer who decided to make a living teaching sewing workshops. The designer launched a new course: Sew a linen vest with lining. It was a six person workshop and the price included the materials, pattern and guidance so I decided to give it a go.
The workshop was divided in two days, two and a half hours each day and the goal was to make a lined vest with a faux welt pocket and button-closure by the end of said workshop. The only requirement to enter was to know sewing basics.
I'm a very slow sewist and still prone to errors so I had to redo a dart and a couple of sewing lines. By the end of the first class I still hadn't finished the main piece. That's on me and not on the instructor.
On the second class, since I was falling behind, I decided to forego the welt pocket and only focus on finish the lining and the buttons part, however the assembly was very confusing since we were supposed to finish both the vest and the lining and then twist them together to sew the armhole, sew around, unpick some of the sides, turn the vest inside-out and hand sew the unpicked part. (I have since found a couple of youtube tutorials that explain this way easier).
When the class had only ten minutes left I was only in the sewing the second armhole part and realized there was no way I could finish on time so I did a basting stich in the armhole and requested the instructor to please verbally indicate me what were the next steps so I could finish at home. She wasn't doing anything and yet she refused, telling me to go back to my machine and finish the armhole, and when I was done, then she can explain the next steps.
When our class time runs out she tells us that if we paid for the next workshop (a matching pair of shorts) then we can come 30 min earlier and she will explain how to finish the vest to the 50% of the class who didn't finish on time.
Since I noticed that the class had a rythm I couldn't follow, I had decided to not buy the next workshop but she didn't have a solution for me, she needed to leave right now to pick up her child. So she knew when she refused to explain that she wouldn't have time later to provide me instructions.
Basically either I pay again and receive the missing instructions or figure it out on my own.
By that point I felt scammed, so I just copied the pattern and ask her to give me the rest of the materials I had paid for to finish the vest, to be fair she did.
I also made a point of staying until I had copied the vest pattern, to recover some of the value of what I've already paid. I do ended up with a pattern but it's pretty bad to be honest, it doesn't have any grainline or notches for the princess seams, not even the included seam allowance is specified, it was just verbally indicated.
After this experience I decided that learning from a video tutorial is far superior, if it's a free platform I don't have to pay to get incomplete instructions and I can evaluate in 10 minutes or less what the quality of the teaching is going to be. If I don't understand something, I can stop and rewatch as many times as needed. If I still can't make sense, I can look up a different explanation, not having the instructor repeat the same technique that didn't work the first time. Also, I can take as long as I need to get to the next step, the video is still going to be there for me to explain what's next. No extra payment required to unlock the next steps.
And finally if I'm paying for a class or a pattern with instructions and they're not provided in full I can ask for a refund. I couldn't do that in the workshop.
If you are reading this and you feel sad that you can't afford or have IRL classes near you please don't, you're not neccesarily missing out. Sometimes a good video tutorial (or three) are all you really need to finish your project.
Have you had a comparison of IRL guidance vs virtual? What has been your experience? What pros/cons have you found?

2024.06.09 05:43 GenX2XADHD How to Write a Paper When You Have ADHD

Getting organized to sit down and write a major term paper is such a daunting task for us folks with ADHD. As a student I would have vague ideas of what I want to write, but lacked the executive function to get to the job done. I would stare at a blank Word doc, type a sentence, delete a sentence, repeat. Unexpected for a writing major, I know. Are you looking for a way to break out of this cycle?
May I present: the Index Card Method.
As a high school student in the 1990s, I was forced to use this method to write a ten page senior thesis. Nearly all senior level English classes in my school used this method. Prior to that year, I had seen students carrying around fat stacks of index cards, protecting them like their ability to graduate depended on them. It did. I begrudgingly followed this methodical approach even though it wasn't "the way I write." Ironically, I found it so helpful I continued using this method throughout college, and admittedly even in grad school 25 years later.
What is it?
It's a low-tech system of organizing your sources, topics, details, citations, and anything else that goes into your paper.
Why low-tech?
It is a hands-on process loaded with sensory actions. Physically handling and arranging the index cards helps me focus on a task. Filling out an index card and setting it aside and then picking up another FEELS productive. Seeing a growing pile of index cards as you move through the project LOOKS like productivity. These sensory activities boost my momentum.
The best part of this method is how it breaks down a mountain of a project into smaller tasks without requiring me to create a big plan before I can start working on it. The size of each task is literally the size of an index card. Plus, it is an opportunity to use those cool pens you bought the last time you said you would start journaling.
The Index Card Method cannot be done the night before a paper is due, at least I wouldn't try it anyway. If you don't like writing outlines or drafts, give this method a try - but if you're cramming, do give yourself a week to get it done.
How does it work?

Step 1: Cards

Get some 3x5 index cards. For a 10-page, double spaced paper, you will need around 300 cards.
Do not get 150 4x6 cards. They must be 3x5.
For this post, I will assume anyone following this method is using lined index cards. It does not matter if the cards are lined, but know that when I say "On the top line write..." I mean where the actual top line of the card would be. This also means you will be writing across width of the cards in landscape orientation, meaning a full line of text on a 3x5 card runs 5 inches, not 3 inches.
There are two simple, but vital rules to remember when creating cards.
  1. Only write on one side of the card. Leave the other side blank. You will need to see all of a card's contents at a quick glance.
  2. If you make a mistake on a card, immediately tear it in half so it doesn't get mixed up with the ones you want to keep.

Step 2: Thesis card

You will only have a thesis card if you are writing a thesis (argument) paper.
In the center of the top line of your thesis card, write "Thesis Statement."
Now write your thesis statement below that.

Step 3: Topic cards

In the center of the top line write "Topic." Below that, write the name of a topic related to your thesis statement.
Topics should be broad, written as one or two words. Create as many topic cards as you think you will need. You can always create more later, so don't get stuck on this part.
Example: topics related to a thesis on the healthcare industry may include: Insurance, Costs, Medicare, Medicaid, Prevention, Prescription Drugs, Hospitals, etc.

Step 4: First Layout

Spread out your topic cards on a table. Select the broadest topics and line them up in a row in the order in which you would like them in your paper. Now arrange the narrower topics in columns below the broad topics in the order that makes sense to you. Using the example of the healthcare industry in the previous step, "Costs" may be a broad topic with "Insurance" and "Prescription Drugs" listed beneath it.
Split a topic if you need to. "Costs" could also be split into "Consumer Costs" and "National Costs", then "Insurance" and "Prescription Drugs".
Don't expect to have a lot of topic cards at this point. You may only have one or two subtopics for each broad topic. This is fine. You can always add more as you go along.
Take a picture of your topic cards in this arrangement.
Congratulations, you just made an outline!
Now type it out. Title it "Preliminary Outline."

Step 5: Sources

Go find sources you would like to use for your paper. When you find a source you would like to use, create a bibliography card.

Step 6: Bibliography cards

In the center of the top line write "Bibliography".
In the upper left hand corner of the card on the top line, write the number "1", as it is your first Bibliography card. This is your source ID.
Now write the complete and proper reference of your source, formatted according to your citation style. Include doi links, if applicable. Where italic font is used in a citation, underline it on your card.
Open a new document file. Title it "References", "Works Cited", etc., depending on your citation style. Type out your bibliography cards in the order appropriate to your citation style. Most likely they will be alphabetical by author. As you find more sources and write out bibliography cards, add them to this document.
About citation styles:
A citation style is a way to reference your sources, specifically how you list them out and how you identify where you found a fact or quote.
If you are in highschool, your teacher will tell you how to write write and format sources and citations. If they don't, ask.
If you are an undergrad, most professors don't care which style you choose, but they want it consistent. If this is the case, I recommend using APA or MLA because they use simple, in-line citations.
If you are a graduate student, use the appropriate style for your field. If your reference style uses foot notes or end notes, please be aware you may need to create citation IDs later to help you stay organized.

Step 7: Read and Highlight

As you read through your sources, highlight anything that stands out to you that you may want to use in your paper.
This is where I would normally say it does not matter if your sources are printed or digital, but for many of us it does matter. Stepping away from technology is one the reasons I find this method so effective. I encourage you to print articles or photocopy sources when possible.
Your school likely has access to full-text articles online that can be downloaded as PDFs and printed later.
If your source is text from a website, right click on in the body of the text and select Print. When the print window pops up, select PDF (or Adobe PDF) as your printer. In the next pop up, select where you would like to store your file. Your source is now saved as a PDF. By the way, printing to a PDF is the easiest way to save a file while maintaining its formatting. Try it from any program. Now when you print it to paper, it will look like the PDF.

STEP 8: Detail cards

In the center of the top line write the topic related to the highlighted text. If you do not have a related topic card, make one.
In the upper left corner on the top line, write the source ID that matches the one on its respective bibliography card.
In the upper right corner on the top line of each card write the page number(s) from your source as "p 87" or "pp 87-88". If your source does not have page numbers, write your source's equivalent as it applies (act/scene numbers, time stamp, etc.). Look up a style reference guide for requirements.
Now in your own words, write about an area you highlighted. If you want to directly quote the article, make sure you use quotation marks. Otherwise, simply paraphrase it. Use complete sentences.
If you are copying a long quote and run out of room on a card, write the topic, source ID, and page number on another new card and continue writing your quote. In the bottom right corners write "1 of 2" and "2 of 2" respectively.
Create bibliography and detail cards for all your sources. Find more sources as needed. For a 10-page double spaced paper, expect to have around 150-200 detail cards.

Step 9: Second Layout

Lay out all of your topic cards in the same order as your preliminary outline, only this time line them all up in one row.
By this time you may also want to combine or eliminate topics because your project took a different direction from when you first wrote them. This is fine.
When you think you have enough detail cards, sort them into piles by topic. Now arrange your detail cards in columns under their topics in a way that makes sense to you.
Take a picture of all your cards in this arrangement.
Congratulations, you just layed out your final outline!

Step 10: Type Your Outline

Save a copy of your preliminary outline and title it "Final Outline." Fill in the text from the detail cards. Each detail card should be a separate bullet point on your outline. After typing out a detail card, add the citation at the end. You already know the source because you wrote the source number in the upper left hand corner of each card.
You should not have anything in your final outline that is not written down on an index card.

Step 11: First Draft

Save a copy of your final outline and name it "First Draft." Now arrange your bullet points into paragraphs. This is your draft.
Now print it . Proofread it. Ask a friend to proofread it. Mark it up and make any necessary changes on paper. Don't change any quoted text because quotes are ...well ...quotes.

Step 12: Final Copy

Save a copy of your First draft and name the file "Final Copy." Type the edits you handwrote on paper. I realize with today's technology a lot of proofreading and peer editing is done electronically. This is fine. If you're using Google Docs, be sure to use Suggestion Mode. If using Word, turn on Track Changes.
Your paper is done.
High school students, if your teacher doesn't think you've made enough changes between your draft and your final copy, hand over your stack of index cards, both outlines, and your highlighted sources. They will know you didn't use ChatGPT or copy someone else's work because you can't fake what you've just handed to them.

2024.06.09 05:37 DexcomUser Recommendations for fishing? At Kitty Hawk Kites!

So yeah, we're visiting Kitty Hawk, and I already picked up a sweet fishing line release mechanism from them... and then some***.
But I realized ALL of my kites are stunt kites (2 handle), and therefore intrinsically unstable.
So, 1. Any recommendations of a really stable kite to grab just for launching lures? 2. Any other extraordinary recommendations of what to shell out for while at Kitty Hawk Kites?

I recently tried out the Hilti 3586412 PM 40-MG Multi-Line Green Laser for various indoor leveling tasks and I must say it performed exceptionally well. This multi-line laser not only sets the level bar for drywall, electrical, and mechanical applications but also ensures accuracy with its self-leveling range at room temperature.
What stood out to me was the laser class 2, which means no special precautionary measures are needed. It also comes with out-of-level and low battery alerts that help prevent mistakes and unexpected downtime. The laser is incredibly versatile, with five lines available, including 4 vertical and a 360-degree horizontal line, as well as a bottom plumbing point.
One of my favorite features is the wall mount, which increases performance in difficult-to-reach locations. Along with the lithium-ion batteries and charger, this kit provides a convenient and hassle-free experience for any indoor leveling project. With a 10-hour run time on a single charge, the Hilti 3586412 PM 40-MG Multi-Line Green Laser has become my go-to tool for precision leveling.

🔗Unity ELITE 20 PRO FB4 Full-Color RGB Diode Laser System

https://preview.redd.it/yc4a29y6vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a96444f84c69ea066e1de67b47bd5df7dec14b5
When I first set eyes on the Firefield Laser Unity Elite 20 Pro FB4, I was in awe of its sleek, robust design. Its integrated Pangolin FB4 media server adds a modern twist to this full-color RGB laser system, and the 20-Watt semiconductor diode laser really packs a punch with a guaranteed optical output of 22,000mW.
Despite its size, the Unity Elite 20 Pro FB4 is impressively lightweight, making it a convenient choice for on-the-go events and presentations. However, the IP 20 ingress rating may not be ideal for outdoor use or in environments with dust and debris.
In terms of performance, this 20-Watt laser shines with a scan angle of 45° and can achieve an amazing 30,000 points per second scanning system. The 6 x 6mm beam size ensures crisp, vibrant projections, perfect for capturing audiences' attention.
While the product specifications are impressive, the lack of reviews to read from other users and a rating is concerning. Nonetheless, the Firefield Unity Elite 20 Pro FB4 appears to be a powerful and appealing laser system, a worthy choice for professionals seeking a versatile, impactful presentation option.

🔗Hilti PR 30-HVS Laser Level with PRA Receiver and Accessories

https://preview.redd.it/xgue25c7vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45770ffbb270e9ea5601f383f2b056028bdb057f
I recently had the chance to try out the Hilti PR 30-HVS Outdoor Rotating Red Laser, and I must say it has made my life much easier on the job site. This laser level is incredibly accurate, delivering a plus/minus 0.02-inch precision at a 33-foot range, making it perfect for aligning columns, grading, and pouring concrete.
One of the most impressive features is its water and dust resistance. Whether it's pouring rain or a dusty construction site, this laser has you covered. The Pra 83 receiver is a game-changer, allowing me to transfer building lines with ease.
Not only is the Hilti PR 30-HVS laser level drop-resistant up to a height of 5 feet and 360-degree free fall resistance, but its shock-absorbing handles make sure it always lands safely on a tripod. The one-person alignment system is another added bonus, making sure the job is done right without the need for assistance.
While this laser level does not come with batteries, it's worth the small investment to get this powerful tool. Whether you're a seasoned contractor or a DIY enthusiast, the Hilti PR 30-HVS Outdoor Rotating Red Laser is a must-have addition to your small grading and excavating equipment.

Recently, I had the opportunity to use the Unity ELITE 30 PRO FB4 laser system in my daily life, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience! This 30-watt full color RGB diode-based laser system is paired with Pangolin's FB4 media server, housed in a sturdy casing. One of the highlights of this device was the impressive optical output, which was guaranteed to be at least 33,000mW.
While setting it up, I appreciated the user-friendly interface that made operation a breeze. However, I did encounter a few minor hiccups during the installation process, which made me realize that the product could benefit from a more detailed manual or tutorial video.
In terms of performance, the Unity ELITE 30 PRO FB4 truly shines. The laser's scan angle of 45 degrees ensured that the projection was accurate and vivid, with the 30,000 points per second scanning system contributing to its smooth motion. The device's power requirements were also a plus, as it could operate effectively with a range of voltage inputs, from 100-240V/50-60Hz.
Overall, while this laser system had some minor drawbacks, its impressive optical output and versatile scanning capabilities made it well worth the investment for any professional looking to up their projection game.

🔗Advanced Self-Rotating Green Laser Level for Precision Finishing Jobs

The Hilti PR-30-HVSG A12 isn't just a basic laser level – it's a powerful and reliable tool specifically designed for long-range interior finishing applications. I found it robust and sturdy, which is perfect for handling the most challenging jobsite environments. One of the features that stood out for me was the 360° outlast unique Hilti-patented design, providing top-notch performance in even the trickiest conditions. Although the high-vis green laser can be a bit challenging indoors, it excels outdoors with an impressive 33 ft. of accuracy.
I also appreciated the convenience of its max operating distance of 984 ft. with a laser receiver. But what truly impressed me was the PR-30-HVSG A12's impressive battery life of 16 hours on a single charge with the Li-ion battery it comes with. Overall, it's an excellent tool for anyone in need of a reliable, high-performance laser level.

🔗Milwaukee M12 Green Laser Level: Versatile, Tether-Ready, Magnetic Tool for Precise Measurements Indoors

https://preview.redd.it/90n2exd8vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5f0fa2a444c4ebb22608629505f08df12e4f51a
Last weekend, I was tasked with setting up drop ceiling elevations in a warehouse, and I couldn't have done it without the Milwaukee M12 Green 360° Single Plane Laser. As someone who's worked with laser levels before, I can confidently say that this one is a game-changer.
First off, the brightest green laser was a dream to work with, making it easier than ever to set my elevations accurately. The 30+ hours of runtime from my M12 REDLITHIUM 4.0 XC Battery had me working all day without needing to worry about battery life. The 360° horizontal plane made quick work of my warehouse, even in large spaces.
I also appreciated the tether-ready lanyard hole, which eliminated any drops and kept my laser level right where I needed it. The integrated bracket with powerful amplified rare earth magnets ensured a strong and secure hold on steel surfaces. Setting up was a breeze with the integrated hang hole, which made the Milwaukee M12 perfect for use in any environment.
The MILWAUKEE 165' Laser Line Detector was just as impressive, helping me align my ceiling grid with precision both indoors and outdoors. With high visibility LEDs on front and back, it made the process a cinch. The rare earth magnets on the detector were my favorite part, allowing easy attachment to metal surfaces.
Overall, the Milwaukee M12 Green 360° Single Plane Laser was a fantastic tool for my warehouse project. Its compatibility with all M12 Batteries and impressive runtime made for a smooth and productive experience. The only downside? I wished it came with a battery of my own, but hey, that's a minor inconvenience.

🔗Hilti Multi-Line Laser Kit with Green Laser Lines

https://preview.redd.it/s3wxuht8vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0d574767b89d0ad1275d999e4b3dd2bf6b491b0
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Hilti PM 30 Multi-line Laser Kit, and let me tell you, it has proven to be quite the handy tool in my daily life. This laser is capable of leveling, aligning, and squaring with ease, making it an essential gadget for all sorts of plumbing and home improvement projects.
One of the standout features of this Hilti laser is its self-leveling capabilities. It was incredibly easy to use, as it kept everything in line with just a small adjustment here and there. I particularly appreciated this, especially when I was working on setting out drywall tracks on various surfaces. It also helped save time by allowing me to focus on other areas of the project without constantly checking my levels.
On the other hand, there were a couple of downsides to this laser. Firstly, the kit doesn't come with a case, which would have been a great addition, considering I had to keep the different components in separate places to prevent them from getting damaged. Secondly, the out-of-level and low battery alerts, while helpful, could sometimes be a bit too sensitive, leading to false alarms.
Overall, the Hilti PM 30 Multi-line Laser Kit is a practical and efficient tool for those working on plumbing and home improvement. It's perfect for those looking for a versatile, reliable, and efficient laser that can make their work easier and more precise.

🔗Firefield Laser Flare: Waterproof, Long-Lasting, 30-Mile Visibility Emergency Signal

https://preview.redd.it/0f2ft479vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07f2bdb7d49815bda3ca30bf99ff45324ce82ea6
As an avid hiker, I've faced my fair share of emergencies while out in the wilderness. The Greatland GREEN Rescue Laser Flare has become my trusted companion during these times. When disaster strikes, this laser flare has the ability to signal for help from up to 30 miles away at night, ensuring my safety even in the darkest conditions.
Its waterproof design allows me to use it even in harsh weather, while its long-life lithium battery means I don't have to worry about constant recharging. The laser's green color is bright and visible, making it the preferred choice among search and rescue professionals. While it's not perfect - for example, it only works for 5 hours before needing a new battery - overall, the Greatland GREEN Rescue Laser Flare is a reliable and effective tool for anyone venturing into the great outdoors.

🔗Firecore 360 Green Laser Level - 3-Plane, Self-Leveling, and Alignment for Accurate Job Setup

https://preview.redd.it/j5i8vnm9vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3db2a7ffc8f6c6ef9257f0cf3e37d1024cd25b5
I've had the chance to use the Firecore 3x360 Green Laser Level in my daily work, and let me tell you, it truly makes a difference. The self-leveling feature is a game changer, especially when I'm working alone. The laser beam is incredibly clear and bright, making those alignment lines a breeze to see.
The product has its flaws too, like any other. The manual mode can be a bit tricky to figure out at first, and sometimes it takes a few tries to get the laser precisely where you want it. But overall, it's a reliable tool that's become a staple in my toolbox.
The Firecore 3x360 Green Laser Level has definitely streamlined my work process, and I can't imagine going back to the old way of leveling and aligning. It's a small investment that's paid off in spades, making my job easier and more precise.

🔗Milwaukee Green Cross Line Laser with Adjustable Tripod

https://preview.redd.it/i33g9xy9vg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9128a0f3d8bbedd6fa46f9f81917a1fc6118bfd
Using the Milwaukee Alkaline Cross Laser with Laser Tripod has been a breeze. The high-intensity green lines are so clear that it's like having a guiding hand, keeping me on track with measurements and alignments. Plus, their 8-hour runtime is a game-changer, allowing me to work steadily without worrying about switching batteries anytime soon.
One downside I noticed was the laser being sensitive to the environment. The magnetic bracket works great but picking up dirt or dust may cause the laser to wobble a bit. And having to switch between 360° bracket, bottom mount, and the regular tripod can be a bit time-consuming.
Regardless, the Laser Level Tripod's precision adjustment and reinforced gears are worth it. Despite its weight, it's an invaluable tool for setting vertical laser lines or elevating the laser when needed. And the lightweight yet durable aluminum build means it can handle the occasional bump here and there without a hitch. Overall, a solid and reliable product, just like a good partner by your side on any job.

🔗Affordable 3-in-1 Rechargeable Green Sewing Laser System

https://preview.redd.it/zbun84favg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36743325b0c66d2da822da8a35692941c6460037

This compact laser system has truly revolutionized my sewing experience, offering remarkable precision and accuracy that I've never encountered before.
The Velcro connector allows for seamless attachment to my sewing machine, and the three interchangeable lasers - dot, line, and crosshair - cater to various sewing requirements. The rechargeable battery ensures long-lasting use, with just a 3-hour charge providing hours of illumination.
While the ViviLux system has undoubtedly improved my sewing game, I did notice a few minor drawbacks. The plastic cover can be slightly difficult to secure, requiring the use of a magnet to keep it in place. Additionally, the laser adjustment can be a bit tricky to find the perfect spot on certain sewing machines, with some trial and error needed.
Overall, the ViviLux 3-in-1 rechargeable green laser system has been a game-changer for my sewing projects. It has certainly made the process more enjoyable and efficient, and I am confident that many sewers would benefit from adding this innovative tool to their arsenal.

2024.06.09 05:35 Merek_Hendr Did I totally misread this?

I need some advice. Last week, I picked up my groceries using curbside pickup at my local supermarket. This really cute and friendly girl brought my order to my car and chatted with me about my car. I figured she was just being nice for customer service.
Today, I went back and the same girl brought out my groceries again. She was even friendlier this time, and she asked if I had any plans later. I said I was just relaxing and asked about her plans. She said she had to work but gets off at seven.
I wasn't sure what was happening, so as she turned to leave, I blurted out, "Oh, are you asking for my number?" She awkwardly laughed and said no before walking away.
Now I'm really confused. Did I misread the situation? Should I avoid going back there? How do I handle this if I see her again?
For clarification this girl looked to be early 20s and I'm 30. Not that it matters but I'd consider myself athletic, 6 ft 1, and decently normal looking so this whole interaction seemed appropriate, not like a 50 year old man hitting on a 16 year old employee.

2024.06.09 05:29 platypuskenny SSV venti rant

I just want to start this off by saying I have been with the company for 5 years. I became a SSV in October, I may be new but I have a handle on what I am doing and have gotten better as the months have gone on but I am not where I want to be and I have trouble handling my stress and anxiety. My team knows this and they tend to be really supportive until lately… My store has a lot of problems due to terrible management where the SSVs end up picking up most of the slack, and only two out of the four of us do actively. I am one of the two, it gets really stressful at times and I go through cycles of positivity to destroyed mental state where I can’t function normally. I am going through the latter part of the cycle right now.
I am stressed, I am burnt out, and I am still carrying the slack. All I ask is for baristas to treat me like I am a human. Today I had to send two people home early, meaning it was only me and one other person for three hours until close. I took my lunch an hour early in anticipation of this happening and when I came back asked the barista to go. To which I got the disrespectful, “No, I solo a lot so why don’t you today?”
Listen I get that the jobs hard, you are asked to solo a lot because the management has the SsVs running like crazy catching up on stuff he isn’t doing. I’d be mad too, in fact in my five years I have been in the same position, but I am not your enemy. I’m trying to make sure all of us gets our breaks, people who don’t feel well can leave, and no one has to be stressed out.
Since I have become a SSV baristas in the two stores I have worked at have disrespected me, said “no” to me, ignored my instructions, treat me like human garbage and do not care for me if I take my breaks, if I struggle, or even if I fall (as I have before and no one asked me if I was ok). I’m not a perfect guy, I know I have a long way to go to be the best shift possible but I do try. I’m constantly sacrificing my lunches and my breaks to alivate and protect my baristas from the same stresses me and the other ssv’s feel. I’m just tired of not being treated like a human by my coworkers.
The worst part was I ended up getting so upset I cried, then I got angry and did the whole close by myself as he was on tiktok. I was just to the point with my coworkers as a whole that I just needed to get out and not say a word to anyone.
To add insult to injury I had to also help another partner by talking to them over the phone after a car crash and them calling me, my manager being under appreciative for me changing the station layouts today to be standard and the one silver lining is that the only person to value my work told me I can transfe to her store if I get my managers approval, just for my manager to deny that idea.
I remember my first year working, one of my supervisors said “… they don’t care about us (newly promoted supervisors name)… they only care about themselves, their breaks, they don’t know what we go through.” Ever since I’ve overheard that I have tried my best to be as understanding and considerate to the shift supervisors as I didn’t know what went on behind the scenes until I became one.
Being a supervisor is hard, baristas please just treat us with respect as humans that’s all I ask.

2024.06.09 05:23 Mindless_Ninja3080 Am I wrong for wanting to end our friendship after they made report to school officials?

I (21f) told my friend Shane (20M) about our mutual friend Becca’s (20f) uncomfortable encounter with a college staff member a few days ago. Now I'm contemplating if I should end our friendship.
Some context: Shane is a sweet but extremely quiet guy who is very strong in his Christian beliefs and has been homeschooled his whole life up until college. While in college, his life revolved around our friend group, and his role in the group can best be described as the youth pastor. Becca, until a few weeks ago, was brand new to the friend group.
I have actually known Becca longer than Shane because she and I attended the same high school way back when. I had seen her around the local community college that all three of us attend but never realized who she was because her looks had drastically changed since high school. She also works at the school. This will be important later.
It wasn't until we all attended a school-funded trip that Shane invited Becca to join that I started to get close to her again.
After this trip, things took a downward spiral. Becca was new to our pre-existing friend group that was attending this same trip, which has a ratio of 3 females to 6 males. Immediately after this trip, 4 out of the 6 guys made a move on Becca, one being Shane. The other girls and I always suspected that Shane had feelings for her since he always invited her to any group outing since the fall of ‘23. He asked her on a date one time but she rejected him because like most of the other girls have said, “He’s too nice”
Besides all this, Becca and I have started to hang out more and talk almost every single day. During this time together, she confessed that on top of all the guys within the group pursuing her one way or another, she had some “weird” encounters with a particular faculty member she works closely with on campus.
The faculty member has often offered to give her rides to another campus in the next town over whenever a school event comes up. She usually agrees to save on gas money, so she meets him at his home and departs from there.
One of the times when they came back, it was late, probably 9 PM. In previous discussions, they had talked about his dogs and how his home was getting some renovations. So when they returned to his home that late night, he insisted on her coming in to look at the dogs and the house to get the “Grand Tour,” as he said. Too kind to say no, she accepts. Nothing out of the ordinary happens during the tour; he shows her the entire home and the dogs, even gifting her a spare mug she said was cute. By the time the tour is over, they are in his living room, and she throws out the old line, “Well, it’s late,” and is ready to leave.
However, he is persistent that they sit and continue to chat. She agrees out of kindness. He moves a few pillows from a small loveseat in the living room, and she goes to sit down. Then he sits closely next to her on the same loveseat. Odd as it is, they continue to talk. He ends up giving her another gift, this time a waterproof journal for her to use on the trip they are both attending this summer with multiple students to the Midwest to hike so that students can finish their science requirements.
She takes the journal and thanks him when the dogs come over. As she turns away to pet the dogs, still seated, it is then that the faculty member starts to give her a massage.
He says she looks tense and that he gives massages to his neighbor as well. Obviously creeped out, she gets up from this interaction, finishes petting the dogs, thanks him for the gifts, and leaves.
Becca tells me that after this, she frequently receives text messages from him with pictures of his dogs, offers to go hiking, and rides to the other campus.
As uncomfortable as it was to hear all this, Becca expressed that she was simply going to limit contact. End of that.
One day, Becca and I talked to another one of our mutual friends about this situation to get advice/opinions. Their advice was to mention that she had a date, therefore she couldn't take up the faculty member’s offer on another car ride. This seemingly has worked because he hasn't talked to her much since, and it’s been mostly above board when he does text her.
The next day is where I messed up. I told Shane all about the situation with the faculty member and about some of the guys who had pursued her after the school trip, while on a gossip-filled rant about some other people. From what I can remember about the interaction, he seemed kind of silent yet surprised. I told him not to share any of it because the situation seemed handled. I trusted him as he is used to my secrets and rants.
The following morning, in a group chat with me and Becca, he tells us that he has contacted the school to file a report about the faculty member due to my conversation with him from the previous day. He says it was morally the right thing to do and wasn't something to joke about as it will protect Becca. He added that it didn't feel right with him knowing that an UNDERAGE student was having inappropriate contact with a faculty member. (remember Becca is 20, and the faculty member is in late 40s)
He shared the email with us and I'll just summarize here: “I need to inform you of a situation involving an anonymous underage student and an anonymous faculty member in their late 40s/early 50s. The faculty member has invited the student to their house in the evening at least once. While nothing bad has happened to my knowledge, the faculty member has invaded the student's personal space without prior consent. There may be no ill intentions, but should this be investigated? Is there someone I should report this to? I'm keeping both parties anonymous to respect their privacy, but I want to prevent any potential issues from escalating.”
I immediately confessed to Becca what all I had said to him the previous day and my sincere regret in sharing as I didn't know he would take such drastic actions. She ultimately forgives me as she understands that I was just sharing the information with someone who is close to both of us, and that she should have made it more clear to me that she wanted the situation to be discreet.
She replies to Shane stating that she wanted him to retract his emailed report because it was her business and she would have taken similar actions if she felt it was necessary.
He agrees and apologizes, saying he should have reached out to her initially but his concerns got the better of him.
She says she understands but it wasn't his place. I, on the other hand, am enraged. I called him and kindly told him not to share anymore with anyone else and that me telling him wasn't me asking him to save her. He says he will remove himself from the situation and apologizes.
A few days later, he texts again and apologizes once more in a long message. He says that as soon as I heard about this from Becca I should have gone to the higher-ups about it. That it is not humorous, and that the faculty member broke the code of conduct by letting a student into his home. He adds, “Even if you have to go against the wishes of someone, doing what is morally right is most important. Sometimes doing something that temporarily emotionally hurts the ones we love can save them in the long run.” To note, he also sent this message after receiving confirmation from the school’s head of Code of Conduct that he did the right thing.
At this point, I'm pushed to my limit and I snapped. I reply by saying that I and others in our friend group have probably broken numerous codes of conduct but he never once reported those because it served his obsession with the group being like a “family”. And that he is NOT THE VICTIM and that it was not his report to make. By saying that the student was underage, it made it sound like a student under 18 was being assaulted by a teacher in their home.
He again apologizes and says it was best in the long run and he hopes we can understand his point of view.
Again, I COMPLETELY understand that I am in the wrong for letting gossip get the better of me and I am the pot calling the kettle black, but never in a million years would I have done what Shane did without consulting Becca, and while I know he is a very kind soul, I cannot forgive him for breaking my trust and failing to understand the severity of his actions.
I have had many discussions with Becca in the aftermath and she forgives me because she understood I was close with Shane up until recently so she can see why I would share that information with him. I have been very open about my actions going forward with her and she agreed to this post because we both want a third party opinion on how to approach Shane and the general situation for the foreseeable future.
What do you think reddit? Apologies for the lengthy post.

2024.06.09 05:21 Director360 [MS] Election Lies Interactive E-Book

The folded newspaper was not much rain cover from the onset showers that were undoubtedly about to come from the looming storm. Nonetheless, it was all Miranda had to protect her hair and makeup as she ran inside the opulent state office building. She was concerned that her hair would get wet; and with a fresh perm, that could disastrous.
She was so used to only speaking to patients in the confines of her home office; not worrying what anyone thought of her with no makeup on and hair tied up in a bun, that being concerned about things like foundation and extensions seemed like a novel annoyance.
Miranda had made the trip to Hillsborough to attend her cousin Andrea’s wedding the following day. And as excited as everyone was, no one in the party had thought to go and pick up the paperwork for the marriage license, so the job fell to her.
As she walked through security, she felt as though she were a leaf in a whirlwind of activity that she intuitively knew was unusual for the space. The place was packed, and she had to avoid bumping into people who were otherwise unaware of anyone else’s existence.
As she placed her keys and other items in the small container on the conveyor belt beside the metal detector, she leaned in and asked a friendly but hapless-looking guard about the day’s ongoing procedures.
“Oh…it’s election day, ma’am.”
“Great,” she thought to herself.
It was like being in a Bruegel painting, an array of scenes around her all happening simultaneously happening. A man shaking hands and giving speeches, a woman filming herself giving a campaign message, another man arguing with security over a pair of keys that he wasn’t supposed to have.
Miranda hoped that she would be able to beat the storm and be back on her way to her Aunt Jess’ house before the rain started to seriously fall, but this was the type of task that had the potential to be easy and seamless or dreadfully bureaucratic.
As she stood in line, she heard a commotion from inside the clerk’s office.
“It’s the law!” a woman yelled. “I don’t care what your personal beliefs are. You work for the state, and that means you work for the citizens of this city; that includes me!”
The woman emerged from the office and was gorgeous. She wore a fur coat that swayed as she walked and had piercing eyes that were hidden by a large pair of sunglasses just as quickly as she had emerged.
“I’m sure she’ll play the race card,” another person in line scoffed, referring to the woman’s complexion, though she neither appeared to be white nor black.
“I heard she’s been spending a lot of time with a particular candidate,” another patron chided.
Miranda reached in her pocket and pulled out a pair of earbuds. “None of my business…”
Just as she reached the front of the line, the lights went out as thunder crashed and lightning flashed outside the building.
A deep sense of dread filled Miranda’s stomach as she heard the loud sound of hail hitting the state office’s roof and windows.
“My goodness,” she sighed. “I’d better call Lucy and let her know I’ll be longer than expected,” she thought to herself.
Just as she took out her phone to search for her aunt’s contact, the red and blue lights and the sound of an alarm went off. Confused, she searched the faces of the other patrons only to hear the voice of a man in a black shirt and pants with a badge directing everyone to the center atrium and away from all the windows.
A woman in a pair of flowing purple pants, a white blouse, and short blonde hair raised her voice and attempted to reassure everyone that everything would be okay.
“Everyone…Everyone,” she shouted. “We will have this mishap sorted in just a few minutes. Just remain calm, and we’ll be able to finish out the counting of the ballots. We appreciate yo…”
She was interrupted by an overweight man in a finely cut suit. “My staff is attempting to get to the bottom of things, and we’ll get the electricity back on as soon as possible. Just bear with us,” he boomed as he stood on the steps leading to the platform in the center of the room.
Miranda noticed the sly smile that crossed his face as he turned and looked at the blonde woman in the blouse. One-upping her had brought him a certain amount of pleasure, and the tension between them was palpable as she shot him a death glance that bounced off of him like a lone BB pellet.
Pleased with himself and chest out, he returned to a group of cohorts. A very serious man in a gray suit approached him while attempting to clean his shirt. His head was shaved and his beard trimmed; he hung a pair of sunglasses from his coat pocket. He was the type of man whose eyes were seen far less than they were exposed.
“Mr. Henly,” one of his minions said out loud, getting the blowhard’s attention and gesturing to the man in the gray suit. The large man quickly made room. The man in the gray suit walked up to Harold, leaned in, and whispered something into his ear that made his face grow hard. Harold reached inside his suit pocket and pulled out a thick manila envelope, surreptitiously handing it to the man in the gray suit and patting him on the shoulder before the man disappeared once again into the crowd.
Just then, the lights came back on as if there was a renewed sense of life in a world where time seemed to have stopped. Color returned to the building and sounds began to fill the atrium.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’re going to need your cooperation,” a handsome African American man said with a certain amount of trepidation in his voice. He took the main stage in the atrium and gestured to everyone to garner their attention. “It would appear as though we have encountered a clerical error,” he said.
A confused murmur rippled throughout the crowd.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Harold bellowed loud enough for everyone to hear, once again making himself the center of attention.
The man sighed. “It would appear…” he paused, “as if several boxes of ballots have gone missing.”
A unilateral chatter began, and concerned looks were exchanged between everyone in the atrium.
“What kind of a clown show are you running here, Pennyworth?” Harold boomed.
“I’m not running this election, Harold, I’m a…”
“No, you’re not capable of running anything. I’ll take over and get this figured out,” he interrupted.
“You’ll do no such thing. You, like me, are a candidate and are prohibited from participating in the election process,” he continued. “But someone had to make the announcement as you were too busy here shaking hands to know what was going on in the building.
“Everyone, unfortunately, until we get this sorted out…no one can leave the building until the ballots are found.”
A unilateral disgruntled sigh filled the large auditorium.
Disappointed, Miranda thought quickly and approached the security office.
Poking her head through the door, she looked for anyone that she thought could help.
“Hello…um…excuse me,” she called out.
Inside was a guard with an untucked shirt and a half-eaten eclair speaking with an older janitor leaning on his broom over the security desk.
“You didn’t hear it from me,” the janitor said with a playful nod, “but I think she and her assistant have something going on, and her husband is a bit salty about the entire thing.” the old man said. “I mean, your wife leaving you is one thing, but her leaving you for your assistant, and a woman for that matter,” he pursed his lips and raised his eyebrows. “I guess I’m just ol’ school, cause that wouldn’ta happened to me!”
“Mr. Jones, quit gossiping,” the guard laughed. “Now what was it that you needed to tell me?”
“I…I done gone and forgot,” he said, frustrated. “It was about her assistant,” he scratched his face trying to remember. “I thought I saw…I thought I saw her…” the older man looked down trying to remember.
The security guard turned his attention toward Miranda.
“Hi…uh…how can I help you?”
“Hi,” Miranda said with a forced smile. “My name is Miranda Fletcher. I work with law…”
“Hey,” the guard said with a long drawn out smile. “Do you know Andrea?”
“Yes…yes!” she stammered. “She’s my cousin!” she said excitedly with renewed hope that she could parlay her family name to get out of this.
“Are you here for the wedding?” he asked cheerfully.
“Bridesmaid, guilty as charged,” she said with a grin and a curtsy.
“How do you know Andrea?” she said with widened eyes and genuine curiosity.
“Oh…, Andrea dumped me six months ago to start dating Alex Tate,” he said with a blank stare and goofy smile.
“Oh,” Miranda stared. She was like a deer in headlights, unable to formulate her next words. In an awkward silence, the two continued to stare and nod at one another for what felt like minutes instead of seconds.
The janitor, feeling the awkwardness of the situation, decided to see himself out.
In a sudden break in silence, the guard continued, “But that’s all in the past now,” he said with a warm laugh that left Miranda still a bit stilted, but more at ease.
“We just weren’t right for one another, and I don’t hold any grudges. I’m Billy, by the way.”
“Miranda Fletcher,” she replied.
“How’s your aunt?” he asked.
“Ah…you know, surrounded by her books,” she said, trying to make light of the situation.
“I was just going to say, I work with law enforcement. I can promise you that I had nothing to do with these ballots being taken.” She assured him. “
You can track me on the security cameras to confirm my whereabouts. Is it possible for me just to go about my business and leave?”
“Yeah…about that…our security cameras have been out almost all day. Worst day this could have happened,” he said. “We’ve got technicians coming to take a look at our system tomorrow, but otherwise, we’ve got no way to verify where anybody was.”
Miranda sighed.
“You said you worked with law enforcement?” the guard repeated.
“Yes,” Miranda replied exasperated as she tried sending a text to her cousin letting her know what was going on. “I’m a forensic psychologist. I do profiles of criminals ranging from fraudulent hedge fund managers to serial killers.”
“Wow…well, that’s more than we could have asked for,” he said. “Look, between you and me, those ballot boxes didn’t go ‘missing,’” he said with air quotes. “Somebody is trying to rig this election.”
Miranda’s face dropped as she stared Billy in the eye.
“And nobody’s leaving this building until those ballots are found,” he said with a despondent gaze.
“Who are the candidates?” Miranda asked with a sigh. “Who’s the loudmouth?”
“Oh…that’s Harold Henly,” Billy said. “He can be a bit much, but I like some of his policies,” he said with a bit of enthusiasm. “But he can rub some people the wrong way.”
“And that man in the gray suit?” she asked.
“Yeah…that’s his associate,” Billy said. “Earlier in the day, we had to confiscate some city hall keys he had in his possession.”
“And the blonde with the short hair?” Miranda asked.
“Oh…that’s Andrea Milton,” he explained with a comically southern accent and scrunched up face as if smelling something distasteful. “She’s a Democrat.”
Miranda nodded graciously.
Billy whispered, “She’s the one ol’ Mr. Jones was gossiping about just before you walked in.”
“Oh…and there’s Carlton Pennyworth. He’s a nice enough guy; smart as a whip, but I don’t know if Hillsborough is ready for him just yet,” Billy added. “There’s some real history with his family in this town though.”
Miranda feigned interest.
“Legend has it that Harold’s great great grandfather changed their last name in the city’s ledger to Penny, telling him that’s exactly how much he was worth. And it just stuck”
Miranda winced at the story feeling a sense of disgust at Henly’s ancestors actions; putting a whole new context to their interaction in the atrium.
“I’m going to take a walk around and see what I can find out,” Miranda told Billy.
“Sure, if you have any more questions that I or one of the other guards can answer, just let us know.”
Miranda took a walk around to talk to some of the characters and explore the building.

🔗DSLR Camera Backpack with Rain Cover

As an avid photographer, the Acuvar DSLR Camera Backpack with Rain Cover has been a game-changer for me. The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek, black design which allows it to blend seamlessly with other everyday bags. However, its true beauty lies within its interior.
The bag features thick customizable foam that protects your equipment and ensures minimal inside movement. It's spacious enough to accommodate two DSLR cameras or small camcorders, along with their lenses and other accessories. I particularly appreciated the padded compartments which provided ample protection for my valuable gear during my travels.
One aspect of this bag that surprised me was its level of comfort. The waist, chest, and heavily padded shoulder straps make carrying this bag a breeze, even when it's full of equipment. The outer dimensions of 11.5" x 7.2" x 15.6" ensure that it's not too bulky but provides enough space for all my camera needs.
Another standout feature is the water-resistant nylon rain cover that comes with the bag. It can be conveniently stored at the underside of the bag, ensuring I always have it within reach during unexpected weather conditions.
However, one minor issue I encountered was the chest strap, which seemed to be a bit tight and not adjustable. This might not be an issue for everyone, but it's worth mentioning for those who are taller or prefer more flexibility.
All in all, the Acuvar DSLR Camera Backpack with Rain Cover has proven to be an excellent investment. Its ample storage, customizable foam, and comfortable design make it perfect for photographers on-the-go. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile camera bag.

This Kodak Premiere Leather Camera Case in Cowboy Brown, is a high-quality camera accessory that has garnered quite a name for its excellent craftsmanship and sturdiness. Made from genuine leather, this case can surely be an aesthetic addition to your camera collection. The real advantage lies in its interior slots, which can snugly fit two memory cards, alongside some cash and credit cards, making it a useful companion for quick errands. What's more, it comes with a belt clip - a convenient feature for those who wish to keep their hands free.
However, there have been some cons. Some users have pointed out it being smaller than described, making it unfit for certain camera types. Its magnetic closure, though powerful, has been regarded as a bit weak by some.
Despite these minor hiccups, the overall user experience with this camera case has been quite positive, with users appreciating its capacity, portability, and the convenience it offers. So, if you're looking for a protective, stylish, and practical case for your Kodak M or V Series digital camera, this could be a great choice.

I recently got the chance to try out the USA Gear SlDSLR Camera Case Bag and was pleasantly surprised how well it protected my beloved camera. The reinforced stitching and rugged exterior gave me peace of mind knowing that my gear would be safe and sound. As a travel photographer, I'm always in search of a reliable bag that can withstand rough terrains and changing weather conditions, and this case definitely delivers.
The quick-release buckles make accessing my camera quick and easy, which is crucial during those spontaneous photo opportunities. Plus, the adjustable length and shoulder support made it incredibly comfortable to carry around for long periods of time.
However, the only downside I encountered was the limited capacity of the case. I found myself constantly struggling to fit all my camera accessories into the external and internal pockets. Although, the adjustable padded divider worked wonders in keeping my camera and lens separate.
Overall, the USA Gear SlDSLR Camera Case Bag is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a sturdy and reliable bag to protect their photography gear.

🔗Waterproof Rolltop DSLR Camera Backpack

As a photography enthusiast, I've been using this Besnfoto camera backpack almost daily for my outdoor expeditions. It's got a unique combination of size, waterproofing and convenience that makes it a standout among other camera bags I've tried.
One thing that really stands out is the 95% tarpaulin and 5% polyamide construction. This not only makes the bag waterproof but it also feels incredibly sturdy and durable. The soft, smooth, yet scratch-resistant texture is a real boon too, especially when you're trying to clear dust off it.
In terms of capacity, this bag is quite impressive. With enough room for two cameras and several lenses, it's perfect for my Nikon DSLR kit. Plus, it has dedicated compartments for storing other accessories, a 15.6-inch laptop, and even includes a rolltop feature for extra storage.
The adjustable shoulder straps and ergonomic padded back make carrying it a real breeze, even during long shoots or hikes. However, one downside I've noticed is the lack of proper ventilation on the backpad, which becomes a bit uncomfortable during hot summer days.
Despite this minor drawback, I must say I'm quite impressed with the Besnfoto camera backpack. For anyone looking for a high-quality, spacious, and truly waterproof photography bag, this one's definitely worth considering.

I recently got my hands on the Tropicfeel Cube Camera Pouch in black, and I must say, it's been an interesting experience. First off, let's talk about the size. This pouch can easily hold all my camera essentials, from lenses and batteries to memory cards and cables. It's perfect for travelling light but still having everything I need within easy reach.
The construction of the pouch is solid and seems durable. The outer material is thick and robust, giving me peace of mind that my expensive camera gear is well protected. However, I did face some issues with the zippers. They are quite stiff, which makes it a bit challenging when I need to quickly access my camera.
One issue I encountered was the static cling on the internal material. It's black, making it hard to see what's inside without pulling everything out. A brighter color would have been more practical for organizing my gear.
Another minor inconvenience is the thin strap. While it's great for keeping the bag compact, it lacks proper padding for heavier cameras. I ended up removing the strap and attaching it to my old camera bag, which has a more comfortable and padded strap.
Overall, the Tropicfeel Cube Camera Pouch is a decent choice if you're looking for a compact and affordable way to protect your camera gear while travelling. But it's not perfect - the zippers can be difficult to open, the strap lacks comfort, and the black internal material could be more user-friendly.
Despite these minor issues, I still think the pouch is worth considering. It offers good protection for my camera gear and has enough space to accommodate all my essentials. Plus, it's stylish and well-made, making it a great addition to my travel gear. So if you're in the market for a camera pouch, the Tropicfeel Cube Camera Pouch is definitely worth checking out.

I recently purchased the Eylar Gear and Camera Hard Case, and it's been a game-changer for my photography escapades. This neon green case is a perfect companion for my camera and other electronic devices, providing excellent protection and organization. The highlight of this case is its ability to withstand extreme temperatures and conditions, thanks to its high-quality construction from reinforced high-pressure polypropylene plastic. What I truly love about this case is its adaptive pressure equalization valve, which releases built-up air pressure and allows for atmospheric compensation during travel.
Another standout feature is the three layers of foam designed to keep my valuables and rifles firmly in place, along with the customizable pull & pluck cubed foam layer. The two press & pull snap latches and two padlock adaptable fittings provide excellent security during transportation or storage at home.
However, one thing I found slightly disappointing was the lack of clear information about the case's dimensions and materials. It would have been helpful to know the exact size and whether it is resistant to cracking. Overall, the Eylar Gear and Camera Hard Case exceeded my expectations and has made a noticeable difference in keeping my camera equipment safe and secure.

As an avid photographer, I've been in search of the perfect camera bag to accompany me on my adventurous escapades. When I found the Kattee Men's Canvas Cow Leather DSLR SLR Vintage Camera Shoulder Messenger Bag, I knew I had struck gold. This beautifully crafted bag combines genuine leather and durable canvas, providing not only visual appeal but also reliable protection for my camera.
One thing that really stood out for me is the flexibility of the inner liner. The built-in padded dividers allow me to customize the layout to perfectly fit my camera gear, making it a breeze to whip out my camera and capture any fleeting moment. The soft lining also ensures that my camera remains safe and undamaged.
The added pockets are perfect for stashing essentials like memory cards, business cards, and CDs. Plus, the spacious design allows me to carry daily essentials such as headphones, umbrellas, glasses, and water bottles with ease. It truly is the perfect companion for daily outings, travel, or more adventurous excursions.
However, one drawback I encountered is the lack of a proper compartment for a tripod. With such a spacious interior, it would have been nice to securely store a tripod for those long photography sessions.
In summary, the Kattee Men's Canvas Cow Leather DSLR SLR Vintage Camera Shoulder Messenger Bag is a must-have for any photography enthusiast. Its combination of durability, flexibility, and visual appeal make it a perfect companion for any adventure. While it would have been nice to have a dedicated tripod compartment, it doesn't detract from the overall quality and functionality of this camera bag.

The exterior of this case is abrasion resistant, making it perfect for everyday use. And while it feels sturdy and well-built, it doesn't sacrifice style. The stylish exterior of mine features a sleek black color with some cool red accents that give it a unique edge.
One feature that really stood out to me was the water-resistant exterior. Now, I can safely carry my camera around without worrying about rain, splashes, or accidental spills. And if I ever need to put my camera down on the ground, it's got rubber feet to prevent any scuffs or scratches.
But the real magic happens on the inside. The Deluxe SLR case boasts an adjustable/ removable shoulder strap and a comfortable handle for easy carry. Plus, the removable padded dividers allow for customized compartments, which helped me keep all my camera gear organized and easily accessible.
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Some users have pointed out some minor drawbacks, such as the absence of a zippered top to keep dust out on windy days. This was a concern for me initially, but after using it a few times, I'm confident that the overall design will keep my camera well-protected.
In conclusion, the Focus Camera Deluxe SLR Soft Shell Camera Case has been a game-changer for me. It's stylish, functional, and reasonably priced. My favorite part about it? The removable padded dividers that allow me to customize the interior compartments. This makes it easy to not only safely store my camera but also keep all my essential gear neatly organized. If you're looking for a reliable and well-built camera case, I high recommend giving this one a shot.

Considerations when Buying Film Camera Cases

Before purchasing a film camera case, think about how you will be using it and where you'll be storing it. Here are some factors to keep in mind:
  • Size: Ensure the case is large enough to comfortably fit your specific film camera model. Measure your camera to get accurate dimensions before shopping.

General Advice for Using Film Camera Cases

To maximize the effectiveness of your film camera case, follow these simple tips:
  • Clean Your Camera Regularly: Dirt and dust can accumulate inside your case, potentially damaging your camera. Regularly clean your camera before storing it in the case to maintain optimal performance.
  • Inspect Your Case Periodically: Over time, the materials used in your case may wear down or become damaged. Inspect your case regularly to ensure it's still providing adequate protection for your camera.
  • Avoid Overstuffing Your Case: While it's tempting to fill up every compartment in your case, doing so can create unnecessary strain on the case and increase the risk of damaging your camera. Only store essential items in your case, and make sure everything fits securely without putting too much pressure on the case's seams.

2024.06.09 05:11 Mindless_Ninja3080 AITA for telling my friend he shouldn’t have made a report to school officials?

2024.06.09 05:06 Narrow_Muscle9572 Water Bears and Dirt Rats

In 1945, the United States underwent Operation Paperclip which gave over 1,600 German scientists, engineers and technicians sanctuary and absolution of their crimes in exchange for the continuation of their research.
In 1953 the United States executed MK Ultra, an illegal human experiment that used its citizens (targeting schools, hospitals and prisons) as test subjects.
In 1954 Plum Island was turned into a research center for diseases.
In 1975 the first documented case of Lyme disease occurred. Rumored to have escaped Plum Island.
In 2005 the DHS announced that all the work done at Plum Island would be continued in Kansas. Not just the center of the continental United States, but also home to crops seen in grocery stores all over the country.
The following is a true story.
Getting into work, one of the first things I do is check my mail. I’ve been a reporter for years and have amassed fans who like to write in and give me leads. Most of the time these leads don't amount to much (Sometimes I wonder if people send me things because of my apophenia and they are trying to get me off their scent), but every once in a while I strike gold.
I had been working at Whisper Alley Echos for a few months by the time I got my first lead. The package I got was small and when I opened it I saw a DVD that had the words “play me” written in black marker on it. Not knowing what was on it, I waited until I got home to put it on. Not just because I didnt know what was on it, but I was also busy working on a different project about how everyone in a nearby town just went missing. The official story is that they all went on vacation or went to visit a relative and decided to stay. I dont know about you, but I found that suspicious.
After getting home and shifting gears to get into the movie mood (popcorn, blinds pulled, etc…) I popped the DVD in and began watching.
There were dozens of different videos to pick from, some ranging from a minute to half an hour. Instead of picking one at random, I just played them in order. After all, all their titles were dates and times and I didnt want to miss anything that might make sense later.
The first video featured a tardigrade, at the time I didnt know what it was, but the scientist doing the voice over described it as being a microscopic animal as well as being extremely resilient. This went on for several minutes and for a moment it felt as though I was watching a nature documentary instead of something given to me by a government whistleblower.
The next few videos featured footage of the tardigrades being given something called “BB-F828” and the changes it caused.
The voiceover talked about how a tardigrade (this time he called them water bears and the two terms were interchangeable from this point on) was showing signs of several thousand generations of evolution in only a few days. Even though I know nothing about science, I could see that the thing on the television was not the same animal that was shown in the first video.
While they were never “cute”, at least they never looked like predators, but after a few videos I saw that the tardigrades were covered in what appeared to be padding. In a later video this padding would change into being chitin-like armor.
The last video was filmed two months after the water bears were given BB-F828 and in it the scientists could see them even without a microscope.
The next morning I went into work and started writing on my computer, copying notes from my small notebook. However by the time I started the second draft, Andrea, the office secretary, dropped a letter off at my desk.
It was the first time I got a letter about an “inside scoop” two days in a row.
The letter said that they were the ones who sent the DVD and if I wanted to know more I would have to go to The Rats Skeleton (a bar that used to be a speakeasy during prohibition. Because of this the place feels as though its a front for a comic book villain. The owners have leaned into this and did everything they could to reinforce this feeling with sparse lighting and everything that isn't red velvet on the walls being painted black) at a specific time.
Usually I wouldn't go meet strangers after getting an anonymous letter that tells me to come alone, but its a small town and I didn't have much going on that particular Thursday.
Parking behind the Merc (short for mercantile, where most of the grocery and general shopping is done in town), I descended the stairs and made my way to the back of the bar. There I found a woman that didnt look like she slept in days. Since no one else was in that back area I figured she must have been the person I was there to see.
“Hey, I’m Daniel West. Am I—”
“Sit” the woman said, motioning across from her. I sat down and asked her for her name but she didn’t want to answer me and when i asked for it a second time she claimed it was Jane, but there is no doubt that was not her real name.
“What made you reach out, Jane?”
“You saw the video?”
I nodded. “Yup.”
“And?”
“I have a lot of questions” I answered.
“Figured you would” Jane said. “Ask.”
“Well, first” I said, my journalistic inexperience showing as I went through my pocket notebook. “Who are you and why do you know all this?”
“Name isnt important” Jane answered. “Let me start from the beginning. We thought we were working on human survivability” Jane answered. “I thought that I was working for some company that had a government contract. That might be true, it might not be. Either way lots of money and resources have been put into this.”
“I saw the video” I answered. “What exactly was it that I was watching?”
Janes eyes were frantic as she looked at the stairs behind me. When I turned around to see what she was looking at I saw a local descending the steps and approach the bar. She only answered my question when she was convinced that the man wasn't eavesdropping, still, she spoke in whispers.
“We were working on human survivability.”
“You said that. What does that mean?”
“Exactly what it sounds like. Consider we civilize mars and the long term effects from the static radiation there. Or another planet that demands thicker bones because of increased gravity? Evolution might give us those things eventually but what if we need it now? In this generation?”
“So you made super humans?”
Jane was annoyed and slapped the table. No one was around to hear or see her but I still looked around anyways.
“We didn’t work on humans. We piggybacked off of some other countries' genetic research and made some breakthroughs of our own. When—-“
“Other countries?” I interrupted instead of letting her talk.
“Yeah” Jane said with a shrug. “Some countries aren’t tied down by the same code of ethics as ours.”
“That’s why you got a hold of me? To tell—-“
“We were working on small parts. At first individual genes, building from that success we went on to more complex organisms. Eventually, hopefully, test on humans.”
“But you never made it that far?”
“No” Jane said, taking a sip from her glass. “We tested BB-F828 on other things, building up towards human testing.”
“Okay, like what?”
Jane inhaled through her nose and looked at me as though she wasnt sure if I could be trusted. Then she sighed when she realized it was too late not to trust me, she had already went too far to turn back. “What do you think has the best chance of not only surviving a planet wide disaster, but also thrive in it?”
“Cockroaches” I answered.
Jane nodded. “Sure. Lots of people would agree with you, however that wouldn't be the best pick.”
“Oh? Then what would be?”
“Rats.”
I laughed.
“They are tough and can thrive anywhere. Even before BB-F828 they are smarter than roaches, plus rats have a complicated social hierarchy, similar to humans. Remember, I didn't just say survive. I said thrive.”
“So you tested all this on rats?”
Jane nodded. “We did.”
I waited for Jane to continue, but thanks to her staring off into space due to lack of sleep, she waited longer.
“What happened?”
Janes eyes drifted back at me, she was running on fumes. “Huh? Oh, yeah. Rats, right?” she asked while pulling a folder out from the seat next to her. She set it on the table and slid it over to me. “Here, take a peek.”
I opened it, expecting redacted pages of ‘evidence’ and while I got some of that, it was the photos that drew my attention the most. At first the photos were individual rats and a designated number they received instead of a name.
“How many rats did you experiment—” I started, but my voice trailed off when I came across a photo of the one rat with unique markings on its back now appearing to be bred for a war on pleasant dreams. Its eyes were pearly gray, teeth became tusks, its whiskers were thick and barbed. According to the scale it was on when the second photo was taken it weighed twenty nine point four kilos.
“A few hundred?” Jane answered, though it was obvious that it was just a guess. “They were paired off and put in different environments to see how they adapt.”
“Why would you pair them off?”
“I think it was to see if some would branch out and become their own species” Jane answered as she checked her watch. Seeing the time she sped up. “See, when something with BB-F828 finds itself in a desert, it might adapt to the point that it grows a hump like a camel. Or grow gills if they are in the ocean. The original purpose was for human survivability on other planets. We thought if we could discover how the adaptations work, and it could be repeated exactly the same over and over again, we could do something for humans. After all you wouldn't want anything unexpected to happen when you're in the middle of growing another set of arms or a dorsal fin, right?”Jane said. “But to do this we needed lots of subjects and all in their own environments. Each one had their own surprises, after all, evolution is random. Favors some things over others. One species can branch out to be dozens or hundreds. Thousands with enough time and environmental factors. When the tardigrades started displaying more predatory behavior we thought it was due to the change in diet and the increase in protein, but now we think its due to the rapid change. It drives them insane. All of this was surprising, but none as surprising as the ‘dirt rats’.”
“Wait. They are all insane? Also, dirt rats?” I asked, flipping the photo over to show the next one. This one revealed what I thought was a bear, but when I was about to flip it over to look at the next one I noticed its teeth. Thats when I noticed that it was a huge, muscular rat.
“Six breeding pairs, all kept in an empty pool full of dirt. They weren't given enough room to get out of the dirt, so they had to adapt to living in it. Anyways, because they are in the dirt its harder to keep track of what they are doing. Because of that, by the time we discovered that they had burrowed their way out of the facility it was too late. They were gone.”
“Gone? What do you mean?”
“Escaped,” Jane whispered. “And they are growing.”
“Growing?”
“Last I heard, they were nearly sixty feet but we honestly don't know. It's not like we can compare them to anything else.”
“Sixty feet?” I laughed. “Someone would have saw them by—”
“Underground” Jane said with a shake of her head. “They are underground. I know it's hard to believe, but how else can you explain those earthquakes in Chicago? New York?”
“Are you saying there are giant rats under those cities?”
“I am saying they aren't rats anymore. They are something else entirely. I am saying six breeding pairs might not sound like a lot, but rats reproduce so quickly it's terrifying. I am saying that they are so big and there are so many of them that they are causing those earthquakes. I am saying that due to their size they burn off lots of calories and some have evolved to hibernating.”
“Why hibernation?”
“No idea, but when they wake up they are going to be very hungry. Ravenous.”
“Any idea when that might be?” I asked.
Jane shrugged. “Some already have. We just covered it up.”
It might have been my apophenia talking, but with that statement I started seeing the bigger picture and asked Jane about the town that went missing (The story I was working on before her DVD reached me). Jane gave me the politician's answer, saying something without actually saying something, and that was enough to confirm that I was indeed on the right track.
Unfortunately Jane and I did not speak for much longer, she got a call that freaked her out and she took off. Before she left she took the folder and the pictures I was still going through. I haven't seen or heard from her since and have dropped the story about the disappearances that have secretly been plaguing our country.

2024.06.09 05:00 TheREALStallman Beginner Rod/Reel Choices

Hey there
I went to my local fly shop to pick up an Orvis Clearwater Outfit in 9ft 5wt to get back into fly fishing. The owner of the shop told me he's not a fan of the Clearwater rod and says that if I'm not married to that rod choice, he really likes the Douglas Era rod instead. He told me the price is comparable between the two outfits and would set it all up for me with backing, line, and a refresher lesson with it.
I'm not married to either the rod or reel, but orvis has a good reputation and warranty so I kinda initially thought I'd get that outfit. I'm just trying to stay in the $250-$350 range.
What are some good set ups for a 5wt rod looking to fish trout, panfish, and the occasional bass?

2024.06.09 04:58 Huge_Impression188 Reflections on being long-term, no contact with my Father.

I just thought I would share my story because I realize it’s almost been two decades of no contact with my father.
After 18 years, it’s become a lot easier to deal with. Me and my father have virtually been estranged for the majority of this time. I am 37 now. When I was 12, my parents split up, namely, my mother left him due to his abusive behavior and unpredictable rage. my teenage years are nothing more but memories of him acting like a big buffoon and torturing me and my siblings with horrible parental alienation. Getting angry if you had any contact with my mother. Sadly, during those years, I did not have a lot of contact with my mother, namely, because I did not want to trigger his anger and violence against me. He and my mother have a 17 year age difference and he really assumed that he had told control of her when they were married. She is now 59 and he is 77 currently. She left him in 1999.
However, at a certain point when I was 18 I left his house, but we were still living in the same city about a year after I graduated high school. I began to be in touch more and more with my mother at this time and my relationship with my father really started to break down at this time. And he had already pretty much not really been there for me too much for years at this point anyway. He provided the Room and board. Yes I’ll give him that, but by and large, anything that I had after the age of 15 I got on my own by working while I was in school. Didn’t pay for any of my clothing didn’t pay for school fee. Didn’t pay for one textbook. So it’s been distant and cold for a long time even before he began leaving me violent death threat voicemails when he knew that I was gonna go live with my mother and try to start over.
This is a man who I have witnessed pull a machete on my little brother, knock an entire old school TV over on my brother and who has also pointed a gun in my face at the age of 14 in a violent rage, and is most consistently very verbally abusive and quite blatant about all of it. Very antagonistic, very irritating, and someone who almost gets a weird twinkle in his eye when he’s being abusive. Very disturbing to witness.
He murdered our neighbors dog because the dog crapped in our yard. He stalked a woman who lived in our neighborhood because he was suspicious that her dog was going to do the same thing and he was following her to find out where the dog lived because he was going to possibly attempt to kill her dog as well.
He and my brother once got into a violent fight over a pornographic videotape. No one was in the home but us three, but it was one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. The police were called to our home many times during my high school years.
Does not know how to have a relationship that isn’t based on fear, control and abuse. However, because he has a lot of money people kiss his a$$, but I have never been willing to do that for one red cent of his money. That’s just not worth the headache.
His wife (the lady he married after my mother) has in the past had a severe gambling addiction. But she worked so much and stayed at the casino. She really wasn’t there for a lot of this rage so I tend to think that she doesn’t believe me anyway and I don’t think her family ever really liked me to be honest. a lot of these incidents used to happen when we three children were at home with him only. When my mother was there with us when they were still married, though he was very violent with her. Also, very violent and cruel with animals. A very sick man. A Vietnam veteran who refuses to believe that he needed to go seek professional help upon his return.
There was a lot of racial shame too. My father is black and my mother is white. Apparently, he deeply hates white people, but nobody realized how bad it was till after my mother left him. He would tell us kids how embarrassing we were because we were half-white and that something was wrong with us because of that.
I have watched him be there way more for his wife’s daughter who’s not even his biological child above me and my brother especially. I have a biological sister who has been abusive with but in a different way, because she was the golden child. But he’s enabled her so much in her life she basically can’t function and is more or less a collapsed narcissist in my book. But that’s a tale for another time about her. The girls were definitely always favored over us boys and it remains that way today anyway.
Once I moved away, and I was far out of that chaotic environment, what I had actually been through for all of those years really started to hit me about six months in and I had a really tough time with it. But in the end, I just decided that I wasn’t going to continue this toxic devastating relationship. It took a lot of years and there were even periods of attempts at reconciling. But in the end, it really boils down to the fact He’s never been someone I can depend on. He’s never been someone I can call in a time of need. I’ve heard some children who are estranged from their parents talk of the financial hardship they have incurred as a result of that but for me there never was any financial support so there was nothing to lose there. Everything and anything that I’ve gotten I’ve had to work for with no help from him. Period.
Not somebody who takes responsibility, not really somebody who can look in the mirror and see the mistakes that he’s made. He just likes to try and sweep all of it under the rug and pretend like nothing ever happened. But it’s really hard for me to do that and as hard as it is to be estranged, sometimes I think it would be harder to sit there and be expected to continue to play these fake games as so that we can put on a show.
I think that’s really what’s always rubbed me wrong about him. His desire to place appearances above all other things. I remember when I was 14 and I didn’t feel like going to some picnic because I think he was on my nerves then. Remember him saying to me oh well if you don’t think there’s something wrong with you but what I couldn’t say at the time was that it was really not something I was terribly concerned about. He’s always been the one worried about putting on a fake show. But when you look behind the scenes, everything is a total disaster and in chaos.
And after my mother got cancer years later, and I ended up taking care of her pretty much on my own with no help from my siblings, I would say virtually more or less I’m estranged from most of my immediate family other than my mother. My mother is also estranged from my brother and sister who are twins. Me and my sister had different falling out about 11 years ago and we have not really been on speaking terms since. I used to believe that we had a close relationship, but I’ve come to learn that it was all a lie. My brother and I talk occasionally but I’m careful about what I talk about because he’s basically the one who is in touch with everyone. It’s definitely a fine line relationship with him. And he doesn’t really understand where I’m met with my relationship with our father and thinks I should get over it, but they have a weird trauma bonded relationship and in spite of the things that my father has done to him, he can’t let go. And I respect that, but that’s not gonna work for me personally. I find my father to be a highly toxic person.
It’s hard, but I think what makes it hard is just the smear campaigns that I know are happening about me. But I think for me that’s the worst part and the good news is I don’t have to hear it. I don’t miss the drama. I don’t miss the lies. I don’t miss the violent threats and the yelling. I don’t miss the betrayals. I don’t miss the favoritism. I don’t miss being treated like someone’s property. I don’t miss the vile words that come out of his mouth. I don’t miss any of that.
So when you add it all up, just remember it takes strength, and it takes courage. it takes a lot of courage to stand up and hold the boundary to someone that you feel has been violently abusive and really scares the sh*t out of you. And don’t get me wrong, like, it’s sad. I do think it’s really sad but at the end of the day these are the cards I’ve been dealt and it was a tough choice, but in a lot of ways, it was the only choice for me in order to survive.
More and more these days I’m just working on trying to not ruminate on it anymore and trying to not let the memories pour over into the present. But I have so much to be grateful for and I’m really happy with the place that I am in my life and I really don’t regret it at all. But I know that my circumstances are somewhat extreme just due to the insane violence and the insane behavior that went on.
And a lot of ways it’s been easy because of his age and the fact that he’s not on social media. he also expects me to do all of the contacting and reaching out. It’s always on me. So he’s not gonna pick up the phone if I don’t pick up the phone. Which once again makes it somewhat easier to deal with. I typically don’t expect any phone calls or text messages from him and I don’t receive them.
For some people, it’s a really tough choice, but in my book if the person makes you feel terrible about yourself constantly, basically craps on your confidence at every turn, belittles and ridicules you regularly And basically makes you feel just nothing but tension, anxiety, and negative feelings about the relationship then what is the point of staying? Everybody has their breaking point and can only tolerate so much before something has to give. 17 years later, I don’t really feel bad about it and in the end I feel like it really has been the best choice. To be able to function in society I had to cut out this kind of severe abuse from my life. And I don’t regret it because it’s made me who I am and it’s made me a stronger person.
And truly at the end of the day, I actually wish them well. I don’t wish them or anything like that but I just know that we cannot have any kind of relationship until people decide that they need to make changes too. I just cannot go back again for any more of that. I’ve always been an observer and a listener, and I don’t think that’s what my father gets his I spent my years just observing and listening to him because I was pretty much forced into silence. Based on my observations, I know that I’ve made the right choice because you can’t reason with somebody who is that crazy. The funny thing is this guy thinks that he is the portrait of sanity.
That’s quite enough of that now, but I wanted to share and I hope that it helps somebody who may have something similar going on or having conflicting feelings about it.

2024.06.09 04:58 iowanaquarist Camera predictive steering lines missing?

When I picked up my 2024 Colorado last week, whenever I turned one of the cameras on, there were predictive lines showing where the steering was pointing. Today, I noticed they are gone. I can't seem to figure out what setting or button needs hit, or even what terms to google.
Any suggestions?

2024.06.09 04:52 Esu-ji Stop online bullying and harassment.

Stop online bullying and harassment.
Hi! My names eunji, keep in mind throughout this story that me and my friend are both young children and extremely uneducated and immature, i am here to talk about my encounter with doxxing (the leaking of personal information), and the app discord.
If you’ve heard about discord you know it’s not a safe place and there are weird people on there, which is EXACTLY WHY you should NEVER EVER SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THERE.
okay dating back a few months ago, me and my best friend rin picked up a new sense of humor, we thought it was humorous to make racist jokes, Nazi jokes, and say racial slurs we couldn’t reclaim, we were uneducated and didn’t know how it deeply we would effect people around us. A few months into us having this humor, we would joke publicly in discord servers, saying the n word around our friends, and making fun of ALL races, not just black people however black people were our target for most of these jokes. After we had drama with another person in our community my discord account got banned and I found out people were mass reporting me, after a post about it, a few weeks later a bunch of accounts with the usernames along the lines of “laiylish, exposingesu, exposingeunji” popped up in my followers, and I was being tagged on videos with screenshots of some of the things I said, so immediately I began to realize how serious what I was saying was and I did some research on the holocaust, racism, segregation, and other sensitive topics that were what my jokes revolved around, after getting educated I immediately apologized to the communities I offended however the harassment wouldn’t stop, the user laiylish had already been harassing me months prior by the way. And after I apologized I made sure to stop making racist jokes, and even educated my friends too. But the harassment still wouldn’t stop even after I told everyone I would change and I was in the process of maturing, a few days after my apology, my best friend rins face got leaked on these accounts, however she was doing blackface in this video and singing the racist song “celebrate our differences” remember that was recorded probably a month ago, before we changed but it was sent in the server and if you know discord you can look at the media tab and see any videos or images from whoever long ago. - [ ] So a spy in our server sent this video to laiylish and she posted it, other accounts too saved the video and posted it, luckily we got laiylish banned on her main TikTok account and rin apologized for the blackface, but it did not stop there, laiylish started posting on instagram and continued to leak more of our personal information, she leaked multiple photos of rin, a few of them were of her doing “chav makeup” and the other was the video of her blackface, after these were posted I spiraled into a depressive state and constantly talked about ending my own life because of the guilt I felt, (which laiylish posted screenshots and claimed I was threatening to take my own life for attention). About two days after the Orginal video of rins blackface was posted, my own face got leaked on the account too, it wasn’t my full face however it was my nose and mouth (but I didn’t know that until later) I woke up to a notification and call from rin, where she told me my face got leaked, I immediately started hyperventilating and making decisions on impulse, I recorded a video of me pouring dish soap into a water bottle and sent it in a group chat with my closest online friends, soon after I drank a little and swallowed it, my throat started burning horribly, (this wasn’t my first time drinking dish soap as an attempt of suicide, but it was my first time actually swallowing it) and after I started drinking a lot of water to flush it out of my system, realizing what picture was posted, it wasn’t even a full picture of my face, but it still took a large toll on my mental health and I was terrified, and the previous day rin showed me a dm of them telling her what her own school was so I was scared laiylish had more photos or my own personal information, about an hour after I attempted I came out to my mom about the situation and my attempt, I wasn’t rushed to the hospital nor got medical help because I felt fine then. The following day we confronted a few close friends who showed signs of similar humor to laiylish, after we confronted our two “friends” hinata/lunette/chaiya (she has like 3 names) and sayaka, the laiylish account posted that they quit that account because their identity was found out. Today i saw a few posts, one claiming I was going to leak someone’s information, one saying I’d forced them to be racist, and more posts about the things I’ve said in the past. I reactivated my account because people were believing these lies even though I said I’d never return to the community. That’s the story so far, I doubt the harassment will end anytime soon, I’m currently posting my story on multiple platforms, you can find me on these socials (Also After laiylish quit she deleted everything except my face leak.) There’s more things she did like lied about us having cp, deleting my reply to a proactive comment that clarified it was a joke and more, I just can’t type it bc reddits laggy. • TikTok - esu.ji • TikTok - tilidwck6i3 • insta - spreading.4wareness.x Those are all the socials I’ve posted about my situation on. Spread my story please.

2024.06.09 04:49 Elly0620 Solo Traveler, Kyoto to Hakone, Hakone to Okaya Nagano Transit Advice

Hello,
I’m looking for some advice or suggestions on my train route from Kyoto to Hakone and then Hakone to Okaya Station in Nagano during my trip to Japan (June 13 - 25, 2024). I will have a Japan Rail Pass so I want to make sure I get good use out of it while I’m moving around and I also plan on having a Kansai One Pass. If for whatever reason I can’t get one I will have a Suica card on my phone as a back up.
Planning routes is not my strong suit and I am hoping that the transfers are doable and that I didn’t pick the worst routes possible, lol.
Just a side note, I will have my medium suitcase (26.3 in. x 17.8 in. x 10.3 in) with me too.
June 20:
10:33am - From Kyoto Station, Hikari to Tokyo (JR Pass) 12:38pm - Arrive at Odawara 1:05pm - Hakone Tozan Line to Hakone-Yumoto 2:04pm - Arrive at Gora Station 2:08pm - Hakone Tozan Cable Car to Sounzan 2:14pm - Arrive at Naka-Gora Walk to hotel Gen Hakone Gora to be there close to check in at 3:00pm. I am leaving my self wiggle room in case I miss a train or any other delays that may happen.
June 21: I need to be at Okaya Station, Nagano around 2:30pm
9:40am - From Naka-Gora Station, Hakone Tozan Cable Car to Gora 9:47am - Arrive at Gora Station 10:05am - Hakone Tozan Line Local to Hakone-Yumoto 10:45am - Arrive at Hakone-Yumoto Station 10:48am - Hakone Tozan Line Local to Odawara 11:03am - Arrive at Odawara 11:14am - Kodama to Tokyo (JR Pass) 11:29am - Arrive at Shin-Yokohama Station 11:36am - JR Yokohama Line Rapid to Hachioji (JR Pass) 12:15pm - Arrive at Hachioji 12:31pm - Azusa to Matsumoto (JR Pass) 2:18pm - Arrive at Okaya Station

2024.06.09 04:48 Clear-Maybe-6710 I love delivering for Amazon

When ever I get a new hire to train or someone asks me if I like delivering for amazon I say I love it! I mean it does have its ups and downs. But today a song came on my playlist and I was really hoping people would notice that when I’m playing it with my windows down waiting to pull into load out. That song is I’m not ok by my chemical romance. Tbh I’m really not ok with the bs I’ve delt with the past couple months. I’m definitely not ok. But I do love delivering when the day goes with no problem. Just a rant and wanted to get this out..
Things that happened the past few months that put me on the edge.
  1. Getting screwed on benefits. Was moving to full time a while back and was going to get benefits. I told them 4 months in advance that my old benefits where going to expire. Constantly told them to remind that I need to get enrolled. Alright the enrollment period happens and I never receive a email. They told me to wait for a email again and j should get it by the end of the month. I wait and 2 days before the end I remind them once again and then I’m told enrollment has passed. I got it worked out but still damn that really sucked.
  2. Went into load out and i had no carts ready. The app said to wait until all carts are ready but I asked for a pick list to start loading when I get a cart. They could not provide a picklist. So I thought ok. We will work this out. First 2 overflow carts get to staging and I start to take them was going to wait to load until I know the tote count. The 3rd cart is ready with 12 bags on it. I couldn’t wait no more I had to start loading because it was 5 min till dispatch. I didn’t get the last cart until 2 minets to departure. I had to rush load everything because I was holding everyone else up. I believe that route had 21 bags and around 40 overflow. I tried to organize the best I could with aid numbers but what really got me was my first tote was in the middle of the van at the very bottom. I had to unload half my van just to get to it and my semi organized van turned into a nightmare. I somehow managed to deliver all the packages without a rescue.
  3. This was on the same trip as 1. The sliding doors! When you try to open the sliding door and it just barley moves! The tracks are so gunked up or the rollers are completely broken. The sliding door at some times only opened like 1/4 of the way. That was almost my breaking point.
  4. A/C not working. Those vans can get pretty hot right? Well of course they will! It’s a big metal box with the sun heating everything up. We shouldn’t haft to deal with that. I’m pretty tired of it.
  5. OTP. I’ve had a big increase in those the past couple of weeks. It was good and easy at first but now I had one lady cus me out because she didn’t understand I couldn’t leave the package without that code. She called and talk to 2 reps and they both said she could use the last 2 of her phone number. WTF support that doesn’t work anymore! Yeah so I called them and the guy called her back and I was able to deliver it. I probably should have just left but I didn’t want to bring anything back to the station because I didn’t want to sit in line waiting for those slow flex drivers.. she left me negative feedback… out of my control lady..
  6. Customer feedback. The most annoying way of saying you don’t know how to do your job even when you do it correctly. I did a test a little bit ago because I noticed a customer didn’t have a note for delivery. I know this route because I’ve been doing it for months. It’s in the hood and she always wants her packages in the back yard up the 20 stairs behind the screen patio. One order she forgot to put the note. So I put it behind the trash can in the front porch. Not visiable from the road. Cool delivered. I received a negative complaint from that person the following week and just so everyone knows that a customer can update a comment after it has been delivered and then say you didn’t follow instructions. Her comment was in all caps saying leave it on the fkn back porch.not the front.the back.
I have a couple more things but I think I’ll just leave it at this point because atm, I’m not ok. I feel better getting this out. I know there is a lot of people going through everything I just posted and I wish a the best of luck. Just wish amazon would take me somewhere fancy first before they screw me.
