Best way to layout a MMO/simulation game

2014.03.22 20:02 pmrr Best way to layout a MMO/simulation game

I'm writing a MMO game similar to iMobsters where the player is training/upgrading/etc various aspects of their character. I'm looking for some advice on how best to build the game, particularly in terms of UI layout. Here's what the design looks like:
Existing Design
I've been playing with storyboards and I'm wondering if composing the entire screen from buttons/images and using some kind of "container" behind them to scroll my main content would work. Ideally I would like to design the various views in separate storyboard views then insert them as scrolling subviews, if that's even possible!
I'm open to other technologies although I'm wary of SpriteKit/etc, as I think my game is more of an app than it is a 'proper' graphical game.
I'm a professional dev but a complete iOS noob so any advice is greatly appreciated.
