2024.05.14 20:45 backlinedx Shared info during work scam

Hi all. I feel so dumb right now because I thought I was very informed about scams and I visit this reddit page all the time - I used to be so confident I would never fall for a scam, and then today I did at work. :(
I got off a Zoom meeting with my boss and shortly after received an email with my boss’ name saying “are you available right now?” signed with my boss’ name. short emails like this from my boss are not unusual as she’s normally busy and sends short emails to save time. I’ve received similar emails from her in the past, and it’s because she wants to hop on a phone call to discuss something. I assumed it was something from the meeting and was preoccupied so I decided to quickly respond. So I responded saying yes and provided my work phone in case she forgot for easier access.
I then realized after sending my response with my work phone it was a scam because the email address was not my boss’ email and formatted as [random letters]@gmail.com. I immediately reported it as phishing and my work came back with an automated email saying I had detected a “social engineering threat”.
Am I safe to assume I am safe from this since I didn’t share any person information (like my personal email or personal phone?) I sent my work phone number but that is not attached to any of my social media accounts or bank account. I am an anxious person so I just want to make sure. I feel so dumb!

Talk with Designers: Season Edition

Hi everyone, we've been surprised by the amount of feedback and suggestions we've received from our community about the Song of Strife season, and we're truly grateful for your enthusiastic support. Today, we're bringing you another edition of Talk with Designers, where we'll touch on some of the most discussed topics and share our thoughts on how we plan to address them. Let's dive right in.

Q1: Why the nerf on AFK Rewards and free gifts in this new season?

Designer:
Typically, when we plan version updates, we schedule rewards for each season with four updates in mind. In subsequent versions, we have actually prepared more engaging events and gameplay features, along with ample rewards to enrich your gaming journey.
However, we acknowledge that there may have been oversights in reward distribution during the recent season launch. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. To rectify this, we've decided to adjust the rewards for Season AFK Stage, Season Legend Trial, Season Corrupt Creature, and Battle Drills to match those you received during the Starter Story.
Moving forward, we're committed to maintaining this level of generosity for every new season. Please be assured that these additional rewards are entirely new and won't affect what you'll receive from future events and activities.
Your understanding and support are invaluable to us as we continue to strive for excellence in enhancing your gaming experience.
Moreover, rewards will be enhanced in certain modes. (These adjustments are set to take effect after the update planned for this week. Once the update arrives, all players in the new season will be eligible to claim these compensatory rewards.)
a. Season AFK Rewards: Diamond x100 and Invite Letter x1 will be added as stage rewards for the first 1,200 Season AFK Stages. The two rewards will alternate every 5 stages, starting with new rewards on stages 2, 7, 12, 17, etc. Overall, the Season AFK Stages will be more rewarding than the those during Starter Story.
b. Season Legend Trial: Every 5 floors, from the 5th floor to the 85th, the rewards in Season Legend Trial will now be replaced with those from the Starter Story. The 4 towers will provide a total of Invite Letter x36, Tidal Essence x360, and Temporal Essence x120 as rewards. Additionally, we're adding the Faction Acorn x10 reward every 10 floors until the 90th floor.
c. Season Corrupt Creature: In addition to the current rewards, defeating a Season Corrupt Creature will now reward you with Soulstone (S-Level) x15. Collect 60 Soulstones (S-Level) to obtain a random Epic hero, including those added to the Hero Wish List after their Rate Up Recruitment event has ended.
d. Enhanced rewards for Battle Drill: Desolate Grounds. A total of 6 rounds of Battle Drills will be available throughout the entire season.
e. Adjusted diamond rewards in small and medium chests found on the map from 15&30 Diamonds to 30&60 Diamonds.
Please stay tuned for more time-limited events like "Glamor Gift" in future updates. These events will feature plenty of rewards for everyone to enjoy.

Q2: Heroes specialized in dealing true damage, like Marilee and Korin aren't performing as effectively in Season Dream Realm battles as they did before, are we rotating them out?

Designer:
Don't worry, we're not rotating out this type of hero. Our goal is to minimize the power gap between true-damage heroes and other heroes, while preserving their relative advantages. But Dream Realm bosses lack significant Defensive Stats in the current stage (before endless mode), which makes true damage heroes less competitive compare to other types. True damage heroes truly shine in Endless Mode; heroes like Marilee and Korin will remain top-tier damage dealers against certain bosses in that difficulty.
We realize that we've overlooked your early season experience before you could unlock the Dream Realm bosses on Endless Mode difficulty, causing some challenges in transitioning to new formations and raising concerns within the community. For the time being, we encourage you to experiment with different formations. By the way, Artifacts suitable for more formations will actually be unlocked soon (you can preview them in the Season Artifacts interface.)
We understand your concerns but encourage you to experiment with different formations. We'll keep gathering your feedback and monitoring the performance of all heroes on our end. We're proceeding with caution on any balance changes because we recognize the time and resources you've invested in these heroes. So, we're taking extra care with these adjustments.

Q3: What's the plan for this season? I'm confused about what's going to happen.

Designer:
The current season will last about four months, with new content planned for release at a steady pace. We've scheduled an update for each month, bringing in new events, features, rewards and other exciting content. But we will not introducing any new progression features in this season.
As you progress, your stat growth will be significantly capped after reaching a certain level, similar to what happened in the Starter Story. This is to prevent a significant power gap between new and veteran players in the middle and late stages of the season. In the Season Supreme Arena, we'll also set a Baseline Level to minimize the power gap between participants. This will allow you to play the game at your own pace.
We also want to talk more about the recent changes regarding the requirements for unlocking new areas. We made these adjustments after noticing a widening power gap caused by players progressing too quickly through new areas. In future updates, we'll introduce new mechanics to address these imbalances, allowing players to enjoy the game at their own pace while maintaining a healthy gaming life balance.

A heartfelt letter from the designers

Bringing seasonal content to this game genre was a bold move, one we took on with enthusiasm and determination. But we can't do it alone. Your support and understanding fuel our passion, while your feedback and suggestions steer us in the right direction. We're committed to improving each season with your input, and creating even more thrilling content for the game!
Thank you all again for your patience and understanding. Your feedback is invaluable and essential for shaping the future of our game. Finally, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support you've demonstrated for the new season "Song of Strife."

2024.05.14 16:12 ScholarGrade Juniors - If you want to improve your chances, NOW is the time to start brainstorming essays

There have been an increasing number of juniors visiting this sub asking for advice about writing essays. Below are some tips and advice for making your essay stand out as excellent. Feel free to ask questions because I will answer every single question in the comments.
I know from experience that many of you are struggling to identify a good topic for your essay. Conventional wisdom says to start by brainstorming a list of potential topics, and chances are, you have already started a mental list of ideas. You might think you only have a few choices for topics, based on your activities or experiences, or essay examples you read, or the rough draft you already started (or worse, that GPT started...). I advise, however, that you put down your list of topics and back away from it. Forget that exists for a moment. Seriously - thinking about this initial list tethers you to certain ideas that might not actually be your best options.
Now you can begin brainstorming with a clean slate.
Start with thinking about what you want to show in your entire application, not just one essay. Every single component in your app has one purpose – to tell more about YOU. Filling out the rest of the application by rote and focusing solely on the essay is short-sighted and will leave so much potential untapped in your application.

It's About You. Tell Your Story - And Be The Protagonist

An admissions officer’s goal is to understand you fully, in the context of your background and the rest of the applicant pool. They will begin this with assessing your academic abilities and potential. Then they will evaluate how you will fit into the student body they’re trying to curate. All of this can be somewhat broad and diverse and touch on several institutional goals. But they will dig deep to find out what each applicant is like, what your core values and motivations are, what kind of student you will be, how you will contribute to the vibrant and intellectual campus community they’re building, etc.
Your goal with essay brainstorming is to ascertain how to powerfully tell your story in a manner that will fit these criteria. The entirety of your application (again, not just one essay) aims to showcase your abilities, qualifications, and uncommon attributes as a person in a positive way. Before you begin outlining or writing your application, you must determine what is unique about you that will stand out to an admissions panel. All students are truly unique. Not one other student has the same combination of life experiences, personality, passions, or goals as you do. Your job in your application is to frame your unique personal attributes in a positive and compelling way. How will you fit on campus? What personal qualities, strengths, core values, talents, or different perspectives do you bring to the table? What stories, deeper motivations/beliefs, or formative experiences can you use to illustrate all of this?
It is always helpful to start with some soul-searching or self-examination. You might not immediately know what you want to share about yourself. It’s not a simple task to decide how to summarize your whole life and being in a powerful and eloquent way on your application. Introspection prior to starting your application takes additional time and effort rather than jumping straight into your first draft. But it is also a valuable method to start writing a winning application that stands out from the stack.
You'll see the advice everywhere that all essay prompts are really about the same thing - you. The goal of each essay then is to showcase who you are, what matters to you, and how you think. I guarantee if you're on this sub enough, you'll hear the advice to "show, don't tell" when writing about yourself. But what does this mean really, and how do you do it well? How do you even get started on an essay that does this?

Introspection Questions

It’s often easiest to start thinking in terms of superlatives, especially those related to personal insights -- what are the most meaningful things about you, and what do you value the most? Here is a list of questions to help you brainstorm broadly before you narrow down your focus for writing:
I have a free introspection worksheet with over 100 questions like this designed to help you find ideas worth exploring in your essays. You can find it on the A2C Discord or download it directly here.

Find Your Story And Arc

Think of a small anecdote or story from your life that you could share that serves as a microcosm of who you are and what is important to you. It will massively help you narrow this down and find a gem of a story if you first start by thinking about your application arc or theme. This is the one-phrase summary of your entire application. It could be "brilliant entrepreneur who started her own successful business" or "talented athlete who wants to study economics and finance as they pertain to sports", or even "avid baker whose hobby sparked an interest in chemistry". It doesn't have to be related to your intended major, but it can help your arc be stronger and clearer if it is.
Once you have an arc determined and a story to share, think about what you want that story to say about you. This is where it can help to think of this as something you would share on a date - what impression does it make about you to the reader? Once you know this, start showing, not telling this attribute of yourself through your story. For example, instead of saying that you're compassionate toward others, you show an example of a time you were compassionate, then elaborate on why, and what it means to you.

Essay Brainstorming Techniques

If you are having trouble finding a story, or simply have writer’s block once you have picked your topic, here are some ideas to get your juices flowing:

Why Essays Matter

Here's the thing a lot of people don't realize about college admission: it's not an award for being the smartest, most accomplished, or most impressive. It's an invitation to join a community. Far too many students think that if they can just show that they're smart enough, they'll get in. Yale even says right on their admissions website that 75% of their applicants are academically qualified to succeed at Yale. But only ~4% are getting in. That should tell you that they're looking for more than just top tier test scores and grades. To be perfectly clear, you will need top tier grades and (optionally) test scores to show that you're qualified, and the vast majority of my students come to me with this part already in the bank. But what sets the admits apart? It's personal insight - sharing who you are, how you think, what matters to you, and how you engage community. You can't just say "/IAmVerySmart, please admit me," or even "I did a cool thing guys! Isn't that neat!" You need to go deeper and show them your core values, personal strengths, motivations, aspirations, character traits, foundational beliefs, personality, etc. And you need to do it in a charming, winsome way that makes them like you and want to invite you to join their community.
So how do I get students to do this? All of my students complete that introspection worksheet. We go through it and find the stories, examples, anecdotes, conversations, memories, relationships, and other things from their life that will help us craft a strong and personally insightful narrative. We also make lists of the values, strengths, and key personal qualities we want to showcase. Once we have some topics, outlines, abstracts, or rough drafts, we talk about which stories to tell where, how to tell them well, and what details to include to present the best they have to offer. Then we refine, edit, polish, and enhance over and over until the story sings, but more importantly shows their heart and soul. We also go through all the other application components to ensure consistency, quality, and distinctiveness.
Here's why this works so well: at most highly selective colleges there is a primary reader (or 2-3) who will review everything first and then present it to the admissions committee, who then votes on whether to admit you. That presentation typically goes one of three ways:
  1. Total enthusiasm, energy, and excitement. They strongly advocate for admission and paint a clear picture of how you will contribute to their goals and community. Everyone in the room picks up on that energy and is leaning forward in their chairs, looking for reasons to admit you. This is quite rare, generally less than 5 out of every 100 applications, even among those which are "fully qualified." When you do this right, you show depth, meaning, and valuable personal insights so the reviewer is learning about who you are and how you might engage the community they're curating. You come alive off the page as a person, not just another file.
  2. Business as usual. You're another great applicant in a pile of great applicants. They share a basic review of the facts, your profile, stats, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Maybe someone on the committee finds something they love, and they really push for admission. More likely, not and you get deferred/waitlisted even though there wasn't anything "wrong" with your application. They just didn't love you enough to commit.
  3. "Here's a stack of 20 applications that I didn't find all that compelling, so we won't present them individually, but you guys are the committee and you make the decisions. So let me know if there are any you want to talk about." In this case, unless there's a letter of endorsement from an athletics coach or your last name matches several buildings on campus, you're probably not getting additional consideration, much less admission. They will regret to inform you.
Everything we're doing is designed to help them get to know themselves, present the best they have to offer, and land in that first group. Having top tier essays is the single best way to get there. Get started on brainstorming in the next few weeks so you'll have time to get a few essays completed over the summer.

2024.05.14 15:43 asciipip Best Practices for Font Specimen Images?

I like the style of small font specimen images used on a lot of Wikipedia articles. There are a lot of examples in the third column in the list of serif typefaces. I'm trying to put together a program to generate images for my local fonts as an aid to keeping myself organized. Here's an example of what I have at the moment.
But I have a few questions that hopefully people here can answer.

2024.05.14 15:26 BusyPublic Deadbeat son won’t sign papers to bury Dad

Sorry for the formatting, this was done via mobile.
Context: we are in Florida and there have been no fights or disagreements between the bio son and remaining family members. Bio son is the only child by blood. My father-in-law was my husband‘s stepfather and he died five years ago. Before his death, he had prepaid for a burial plot with his wife (my husband‘s mom, who already passed). When he passed, his biological son signed papers for cremation. Everyone took what they wanted from my father-in-law‘s house, and we were told to sell the rest. Which we did. And we used that money to pay for his actual burial. Ever since then we have been trying to get in contact with the biological son to sign the papers necessary to actually bury his fathers creamains. We have made it very clear we’re not looking for money. Everything‘s been paid for. We have tried calling, texting, Facebook messaging, Facebook posts, actual letters through the mail, and trying to reach him through third parties like his wife and friends. All to no avail. He will not talk to us, and he will not sign the papers. So my father-in-law‘s cremains have been in my home for five years. Which is fine. But not what my father-in-law wanted. How do we get his son to sign the papers to follow through on his father‘s wishes? The funeral home is no help. They’re telling us without the signature, they absolutely will not bury him.

2024.05.14 14:50 PleaseDontCumInMe Locked out of Computershare account!

Hi all. Overseas apette here who’s been locked out of my CS account (they created security questions that I didn’t ever set myself, and I got them wrong).
I’ve seen other posts of people having the same issue and they’ve called customer service and been able to unlock their account by verifying their identity over the phone, so I tried this.
However the customer service rep told me the only way possible is to physically mail them a letter asking them to unlock my account, and this has to be notarised or medallion signature stamped.
Has anyone recently managed to unlock their account without having to do this? Notaries are just so expensive and a Medallion signature isn’t an option in my country.
The number I called was +18009425909 and I did this via skype — was on hold for about 15 minutes before getting through to a rep. This was around 8:00am est. I tried the gme specific number first but it didn’t go through.
Thanks in advance fellow apes / apettes!

2024.05.14 14:19 jschinker Email Record Requests

How are you all filling record requests for email?
We use Google Vault, and I can do the searches and export mbox or pst files. That's not a problem. But what's the best way to provide these emails in a format that retains the context/threading and the attachments?
For years, I've been using Thunderbird Portable. I'd put it on a Flash drive, import the mbox files, and then give it to my records officer. He would be able to delete any messages that contained sensitive data before passing it along to the requestor. This had the advantage of being searchable, browseable, and sortable.
But later versions of Thunderbird started putting the messages in the user profile, so that doesn't work any more. Even changing the path requires an absolute path, so if the drive letter changes when the flash drive goes into another computer, everything breaks.
Add to that these additional challenges:
* We can't actually redact messges. I can only delete entire messages. I've done some basic redactions by using find/replace on the mbox files, but that's not foolproof and it's very time consuming.
* We're an Apple district. So while everyone outside the district wants a Windows solution, everyone inside needs this to work on Macs.
Does anyone have a solution for this that they like?

2024.05.14 13:11 Stock-Cookie6967 Everyone were shocked by my results 😎

I don't think I even opened my text-book for more than 3 times in a whole year.
Hindi: I completed watching KOTA Factory the night before Hindi exam, honestly, I prepared for only 3 hours for this exam (Padle Akshay IMP questions video).
Social: I seriously gave up on Social, I was having a headache learning that shitty crop list. I just played Minecraft for the whole prep holidays, I just saw Digraj Sir's morning session video, literally 2 hrs of prep.
Maths And Science: I saw Padle Akshay's video and started watching The Big Bang Theory ( 10/10 show btw).
English: bro idk anything abt the chapters in that, I just made my friend explain all the stories in a 50 minute call. I just saw the format of letter for 2 min before entering the exam hall. I just played on chess.com the whole 4 days (1200 elo btw)
I was engrossed in competitions and other things the whole year, I won national awards, from IIT Hyderabad, even CBSE itself. Everyone thought it's gonna effect my results as I did not attend much classes the whole year too, teachers were expecting me to get around 45-50%.
All my friends studied for hours and hours after school. Literally just study and nothing for a whole 2 years, while I was building my portfolio with awesome wins in huge contests.
TBH even u thought I will get 45%, but when I checked my result, I got 90%. I was more than happy. 9.4 CGPA was more than enough for me. I literally felt like I pissed on my friends hardwork, They all got around 91-93%. Not much more than me. I had an awesome year of chilling before starting a great war(JEE prep).
PS: I just felt like telling someone all this and seek some validation 🥲. Drop your prep stories too.

How to Convert RAW to NTFS Format Without Losing Data?
https://preview.redd.it/eks0x6cjgd0d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=1308983c2fa17502e258f3f11a75aaf0fe71a6b7
When you try to copy or view a file from a memory card you put into your computer, have you ever discovered it's unreadable? Any file system on memory cards, USB drives, external HDD drives, storage devices, and even internal drives might experience this regrettable circumstance. Your circumstances may make this inability to obtain that info disastrous.
When a partition becomes RAW, for whatever reason, you cannot access the data on your drive and it won't be useful until you format it. For you to obtain that data, you must therefore act. Using a data recovery program on Windows or macOS is one such way to succeed.

RAW partition

It's critical to know what a RAW partition is before we discuss recovering lost data. Said another way, a RAW partition is one that has not been formatted using the file system that the computer is using.
It's never really out of the box with removable USB devices and memory cards. If you put an SD card into one computer and it reads it correctly, the next computer may not be able to comprehend the file system structure and may destroy the partition layout, making that device inaccessible. Almost always, you've just taken out that USB device or memory card without first letting the operating system securely remove it. “
The file systems most Windows computers use, for instance, are FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, or NTFS5. Conversely, macOS supports NTFS solely in read-only mode and uses APFS, HFS+, FAT32, and exFAT. Linux systems use XFS, BTRFS, reiser, ext3, ext4, and more.
Sometimes the file system type of a device formatted in one platform can be read by another. Regretfully, there is no assurance here. You will therefore likely be told the disk was unreadable by the computer when you try to read, say, an SD card formatted with the ext4 file system on a MacBook Pro.
The important thing is that Initialize option. It is telling us, in other words, that the card is not formatted so that the computer can read it. While clicking Initialize will undoubtedly remove all of the data on the device, it is still an option.

Can I Get My Data Back from a RAW Partition?

The excellent news is that data lost or unavailable from a RAW partition can be recovered. Occasionally all that has to be done is plug the disk (or SD card) in issue into the computer that was originally used to generate the files and folders on the device. After that, you can format the card to a file system the target computer can read, copy the data back, and insert the card into the target machine.
You will have to fix the damage and retrieve the data on the disk if you can no longer access the original machine (or one with a comparable file system) or if the reason isn't incompatibility between your operating system and the current file system.

What Use Is Converting RAW to NTFS?

Said another way, if your data is kept on a RAW partition, you cannot access it. NTFS and other file systems serve the purpose of logically storing your data for simple retrieval when needed. Your data without a file system is just a disjointed mess that is almost impossible to discover anything.
Computers locate and access your data through file systems, hence a RAW disk will not be accessible. Its contents might still be there, but without a functional file system, it will be unusable.

Converting RAW to NTFS Without Data Loss

Converting a RAW partition to NTFS without losing the data on it is possible in just one way. You need CheckDisk for that.
The Windows utility CheckDisk looks for logical and physical problems in the volumes of your drive. If you need to convert RAW to NTFS without losing data, it can even fix any issues it finds with extra settings. Because CheckDisk might be able to identify and fix the damage keeping the volume from reading properly, we're utilizing it.
Using CheckDisk's Command Prompt, convert a RAW drive to NTFS as follows:
  1. Using a right-click on Start, select Windows PowerShell (Admin). Should UAC ask you to allow it, click Yes.
  2. Start with chkdsk D: /r. D: should be replaced with the RAW partition's drive letter. Key in Enter.
See if Disk Management displays the right file system and the volume is now accessible after issuing the command.

Recovery of Data from a RAW Partition

Sometimes the RAW partition cannot be fixed by CheckDisk or Disk Utility without causing data loss. Before manually converting the RAW partition back to NTFS, you should recover your data in such a situation.
You can recover your data using the following techniques before fixing the malfunctioning drive.

Method 1 :- Recover With BLR Tools

A few fast clicks using BLR BitLocker Partition Data Recovery Tool can allow you to recover data from a RAW partition. And you can find the files you need fast with BLR Tools's useful features like file filters. Furthermore, something the command line cannot achieve, BLR Tools adds Guaranteed Recovery and Recovery Vault data protection techniques to the mix.
Proceed as follows to recover files from a RAW partition:
  1. Get BLR Tools for Mac or Windows and install it. Open BLR Data Recovery Tool when it has downloaded and been installed. BLR Tools will detect a drive even while the operating system cannot.
  2. Choose the disputed RAW drive and hit Search for lost data. BLR Tools will now start looking for files on the hard drive.
  3. Click Review identified items to start browsing the found file structure after the scan is finished (this may take some time depending on the size of the drive).
  4. To retrieve the files, click retrieve. Choose the location to save the restored files. Choose an output location on a different physical partition, please.
  5. Recovering will start as soon as you click OK. This can take some time depending on how many files you've chosen to recover, how big those files are, and the state of the examined device. BLR Tools will show you an overview screen with direct access to your data choice after the procedure is finished.

Method 2 :- Try TestDisk to Recover

Use TestDisk to recover the whole partition. Restoring missing or lost partitions is the goal of the open-source recovery program TestDisk. Not to mention totally free. Its absence of a graphical user interface makes it difficult for novices to utilize. Still, you may quickly recover your lost partition by following the detailed methods.
This is a little video demonstrating how TestDisk can recover a lost partition:
  1. Get TestDisk and extract its zip. Try testdisk_win.exe.
  2. To start a fresh log file, hit Enter.
  3. To continue, choose the drive holding the RAW partition and hit Enter.
  4. Choose a partition table type. The one TestDisk thinks it used gets chosen automatically. Press Enter.
  5. To examine the partition structure and search for lost partitions, press Enter.
  6. Once more hit Enter to start the Quick Search.
  7. Press Enter when finished.
  8. Choose the partition and hit Enter.
  9. If nothing shows up, choose Deeper Search to do a more thorough search.
  10. Find the partition and choose Write.
  11. After you confirm by pressing Y, restart your computer.

Method 3 :- Recovering with a Data Recovery Centre

Sometimes data recovery is still not possible with even sophisticated recovery software. Alternatively, you could merely feel uneasy trying to retrieve the info on your own. Still, there is the choice to use a data recovery facility.
To complete the task, a data recovery center hires data recovery experts with sophisticated knowledge of file recovery and equipment of the highest calibre. The most successful approach to recovery is frequently to use a data recovery facility, but it is also the most expensive.
What to anticipate generally if you decide to use a data recovery service to recover your data is as follows:
  1. Launch Recovery by clicking
  2. Complete every field as required. This covers the kind of service you would like, how to get in touch with you, and any drive specific details.
  3. When ready to submit, click Complete my work order. You will be instructed to send your drive away for repair from this point.

Techniques for NTFS Conversion of RAW

It is now time to consider drive repair after data recovery. Generally speaking, once you are not concerned about losing your data, repairing a RAW partition is really simple. It only means replacing the broken or incompatible file system with a fresh one during formatting.
These solutions will walk you through configuring a disk and converting a RAW hard drive to NTFS.

Method 1:- Method with File Explorer

One of the simplest methods, formatting a drive with File Explorer just requires a few clicks. As you are ready to complete the format, just click Restore device defaults if you are not sure what values to use.
  1. Start File Explorer.
  2. To format a partition, do a right-click on it in the left navigation pane and select Format.
  3. When you're ready, set the format's values and hit Start.

Method 2:- Format using Disk Management

A Windows program called Disk Management lets you examine and modify the storage disks on your computer. It provides an overview of the data allocations and general health of your disks. One can format their drives with it as well.
  1. Choose Disk Management with a right-click on Start.
  2. Give the volume a right-click and choose Format.
  3. Specify the format's values, then click OK when done.
  4. Please click OK to verify the format.

Method 3:- Presentation with DiskPart

Though it manages the storage drives on your computer through a command-line interface, DiskPart is a potent command interpreter. Should File Explorer and Disk Management prove ineffective for you, this is a helpful alternative.
  1. With a right-click on Start, choose Windows PowerShell (Admin).
  2. Just type diskpart and hit Enter.
  3. Press Enter after typing list disc. Notify the disk number containing the RAW partition.
  4. Please choose a disk. Replace 2 with your own disk number.
  5. Type list volume and hit Enter. Note down the RAW volume number.
  6. Put in volume 3 and hit Enter.
  7. Kindly enter clean.
  8. Put in create partition main and hit Enter. In doing so, a fresh blank primary partition is created.
  9. Enter format fs=ntfs. This NTFS-formats the volume.
  10. Enter after typing assignment. One is given a drive letter as a result.
Advice on Avoiding NTFS Partitions from Converting to RAW
By now you're undoubtedly thinking, "How can I keep a partition from going RAW?" That raises a really interesting issue. Ultimately, you want to avoid having to perform RAW partition recovery each time you plug in an external HDD, USB flash drive, or SD card into your computer. Thankfully, you have a few options to lessen the likelihood of this happening.
Never take out a USB drive or SD card without first "Safely removing" it with the built-in feature on your computer. A RAW partition is likely if you just remove the drive without letting your operating system safely unmount or eject the device.
As widely used a file system as you can, format your drives with. Almost all operating systems can read the file systems FAT32 and NTFS, hence those are excellent options. NTFS is read-only on macOS, which is one issue; FAT32 is always your better choice. Choosing one of these file systems should leave you with no issues with your platform of choice needing to start a drive or just not being able to read it.
Put your machine to a proper shutdown. Processes on your computer may be interrupted by sudden power outage. The corruption of your file system may follow from this. Avoid forcing a shutdown of your computer whenever possible.
See how your disk is doing. You can get early warning of any possible problems your drive may run into by using a disk monitoring program that can read the SMART data on your drive. You can stop additional damage by acting right away as problems arise.
Naturally, a drive can still turn RAW at any time even with all of this done. Thus, you should regularly backup your data so that a secure duplicate is always accessible if you want to really protect it from such an occurrence. Easy to configure and maintain snapshot copies of your data so you can even restore to a prior version if necessary, built-in Windows backup solutions like File History are a fantastic option.

Conclusion

A RAW partition or drive can be avoided really easily. Know, nevertheless, that you have the resources to handle the situation if it should come up. Data recovery from RAW drive or partition is highly likely with BLR Tools. If in doubt, run BLR Tools's free Basic edition through your RAW drive or partition. Get the Pro license and safely restore your inaccessible data if BLR Tools can locate it.

Over the past 30 years, my direct mail and email promotions have generated over $100 million in subscription revenues.
Volume one features 10 of my favorite promotions. The same ones that I use to coach my copywriting students on my Million-Dollar Copywriting Formula.
Each one has been hand-picked by me to give you a bank of winning headlines, leads, transitions, and arguments that you can turn to whenever you need inspiration for your next email, landing page, or video sales letter. They include:
  • The Great Retirement Betrayal. This was my first grand slam promotion. As you’ll see, it’s written like a grandfather whose only goal is to make sure you don’t get ripped off by bankers, brokers, and the government. When you read it, you’ll see how you, too, can add this same friendly/fatherly tone to your sales letters, landing pages, and webinars.
  • One Nation Under China is one of my best examples of using the Trojan Horse. Written like a highly-charged news article, it slowly walks you down the order form using a combination of fear and greed. It is one of my best examples of using the news hook to move your readers to do a swan dive to the order form.
  • Tap the Hidden Wealth Inside Your Paycheck was written and targeted at regular everyday people who are trying to get ahead in life and just don’t know how. You’ll read how I speak to them in a to-a-friend-from-a-friend tone. This launch package beat a well-known A-list writer’s effort and was money for me for two years.
  • The One Stock That Will Make You a Marijuana Millionaire is one of my best examples of using a single stock story to sell a subscription to an investment newsletter. The big takeaway here is how I use ~undeniable proof~ to make the case for owning this incredible stock. Another two-year control.
  • The New Science of Getting What You Want was self-promotion for a book I authored 15 years ago. In it, you’ll read how I use my credibility, track record, and the dream of achieving success to walk the reader to the order form. You’ll also see how I integrate a no-risk money-back guarantee throughout.
  • The Fast Money 2020 $1 Million Giveaway is the transcript for a highly successful two-person webinaVSL. You’ll see how I use a conversational back-and-forth style to keep viewers engaged in learning the secret trading strategy that will make them rich.
  • Oil Time Bomb to Blindside U.S. Investors was one of my favorite all-time promotions. REASON: It uses my famous “either-or” news approach to bring in readers on both sides of the argument. Prospects read every last word to see if they are right. This was a three-year control using various headlines and was converted to a highly successful VSL.
  • The Lightning-Fast Profits Summit is the transcript for another highly successful trading service VSL I wrote. Here you will see one of my biggest secrets at work: How explaining how the trading mechanism works to prove to readers that this system will make readers money. So powerful, you may forget this is an example and subscribe!
  • The Retirement Club is one of my legendary email promotions that ran in various formats for over a decade using a simple e-vite and landing page that transformed a publication into a club by repositioning the offer.
  • The Master Key to Marijuana Profits relaunched a struggling publication to incredible success. The key to success was taking a macro-economic view and then drilling down into the individual stock picks.
Individually, you’ll see first hand:
  • My headline formula for grabbing readers by the throat
  • How I use subheads and bullet points to keep the readers’ interest throughout each promotion
  • How I drop “cookies” throughout each piece to build desire.
  • How I close sale after sale with time-proven calls-to-action that work!
Together, you’ll find 233-pages filled with dozens of headline, subhead, landing page, and call-to-action ideas and offers you can use to keep your copywriting strategies fresh and engaging.
My hope is that you can use the structure and format of my winning promotions as a step-by-step guide to writing your next big winning email, landing page, or VSL.
When you consider that each one is packed with 30-years of copywriting knowledge and million-dollar results…
….this is an opportunity I would not sit on.
This is a 24-hour offer and is limited to just 90 copies.
When the clock strikes midnight tomorrow, or the 90th one is taken, I will be taking this offer down and the $325 price will revert to $1500.
So if you want to add grab these swipes for your file, I wouldn’t sit on this because I may never offer this special price again.

2024.05.14 07:14 ScholarGrade Juniors - NOW is the time to start brainstorming essays

2024.05.14 06:35 aleph-moo Deep Dive Analysis on Bundles and Banners

Been seeing some complaints about the changes in Song of Strife, especially regarding the Secret Travelogue and the Growth Bundle, so I thought I would do some math to figure out how much value is actually lost. In the meantime, I also calculated out which banners are the best to pull from, the cost of S- and A-level heroes by dollar and by gems (the latter differing depending on the banner). The Key Findings is the tl;dr. The rest is just showing my work. Enjoy!
Key Findings:
  1. Song of Strife Noble Path Secret Travelogue is, at the most generous, only 60% as valuable as Pre-Season Noble Path Secret Travelogue.
  2. Song of Strife Growth Bundle is slightly better, being ~4.7% more valuable than Pre-Season Growth Bundle.
  3. For S-level Heroes, the banners with the best to worst values are: Epic Recruitment, Rate-Up, and All-Hero.
  4. It's actually less expensive, gem-wise, to get a Celestial or Hypogean Hero via Scamgazer than an S-level via All-Hero Recruitment.
  5. If you have A-level Heroes with the same pull priority as S-level, it is more cost-effective to put those on your Epic Recruitment than S-levels.
  6. If pulling from All-Hero, an S-level Hero costs $21.95 and an A-level Hero costs $2.00.
  7. If pulling from Rate-Up, an S-level Hero costs $16.67 and an A-level Hero costs $5.00.
Baselines
I'll be using the baseline of 270 gems per All-Hero Recruitment letter (2700 gems per 10-pull) and 300 gems per Rate-Up Recruitment Letter.
I will also be using the in-game percentages, without considering pity (since it seems like the consensus that the rate has pity built in). If there's enough interest, I might run these calcs again, but assuming you only hit pity.
Epic Recruitment Letters
This is hard to value. If priced using Emporium, each letter is worth 400 gems.
If priced using Gazettes, each letter is worth 514 gems (12,000 gems for $5, 70 letters for $15). If you take into account AFKJ's "Value" proposition that the Classic Gazette is of better value than the Premium Gazette, you get that each letter is worth ~441 gems.
I'll make calcs based on all three, with results in XXX/XXX/XXX format, representing calcs using 400/441/514 gems, respectively.

A-level Soulstones: 68 Dolly Tickets S-level Soulstones: 550 Dolly Tickets You need 60 of each for one Hero of that tier, meaning AFK Journey values S-levels at ~8.1x the value of A-level.
Source: Epic Recruitment
When you hit the prize pool, you will either receive your choice of 1 S-level or 5 A-level heroes. This values A-levels at 5x that of S-levels. I am not sure whether you can pull Celestials or Hypogeans from an S-level Soulstone, but if you can, then that makes sense why there is a value difference between the Recruitment Store conversion and the Epic Recruitment conversion rates. Moving forward, I will use the 1:5 rate in the Epic Recruitment, since most things won't involve Celestials or Hypogeans.
Value: Rate-Up Recruitment
Rate-Up Hero (S-level) Chance: 3.0% Rate-Up (S-level) EV: 3 per 100 pulls (NOTE: This is EXACTLY the expected value if you only hit the pity of 40, so if chances include pity, this means you actually have a less than 0.04% (assuming they round chances) of actually pulling one outside of pity.) Rate-Up (S-level) Gem Cost: 10,000 gems
A-level Chance: 10% A-level EV: 1 per 10 pulls A-level Gem Cost: 3000 gems
S:A-level Conversion Rate: ~3.3
Value: All-Hero Recruitment
S-level Chance: 2.05% S-level EV: 41 per 2000 pulls S-level Gem Cost: 13,171 gems
A-level Chance: 22.5% A-level EV: 45 per 200 pulls A-level Gem Cost: 1200 gems
S:A-level Conversion Rate: ~1:110
Value: Epic Recruitment
S-level Chance: 5.22% S-level EV: 261 per 5000 pulls S-level Gem Cost: 7663/8448/9847 gems
A-level Chance: 18.75% A-level EV: 3 per 16 pulls A-level Gem Cost: 2133/2352/2741 gems
S:A-level Conversion Rate: ~3.6
(Meaning, it's more worth it to put an A-level over a S-level on your Wishlist for Epic Recruitment if they have the same priority)
Value: Scamgazer
Cost: 400 gems per pull (from Emporium)
Cele/Hypo Chance: 3.25% Cele/Hypo EV: 13 per 400 pulls Cele/Hypo Gem Cost: 12,308 gems
Experia Monthly

Noble Path (Value: 3525 gems per $1 -- which is overvaluing essence and EXP when compared to Pre-Season calculations)
Cost: $10 30 Rate-Up Letters (worth 9000 gems) 30 All-Hero Letters (worth 8100 gems) 10K Essence (worth 8424 gems (note: not sure rate at max AFK, so using stage 250 rate)) 2.312 Million EXP (worth 9721 gems (note: note sure rate at max AFK, so using stage 250 rate))

2024.05.14 05:05 MichaelfromKroger Writing Development Website/Program

Good evening y'all (it's 11 pm EST)
I'm currently a college student pursuing an IT degree and I was speaking with my father in law about an idea for a writing skills development program. The basis of the program/website is to teach students from Elementary school to the highschool and collegiate level on how to write essays. He posits that his students he has worked with do not have a good grasp on how to format their essays and papers, which then falls short in their future academic courses and he wants to make a program that will help them step by step.
My general layout right now is that it will be split into different levels of writing. From Levels 1 through 5: Elementary, Middle School, High School, College Prep, and Collegiate level writing skills. Within each level, I'll have writing tips and exercises to help the students learn the proper way to write their essays, with the Five Paragraph Essay as the format they will be learning.
Level 1: Sentence Structure, Formatting, and Composition. This includes things like spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc.
Level 2: Adding in proper grammar, sentence continuation, paragraph structure, readability and comprehension, editing skills (rereading to make sure it is grammatically correct, has proper punctuation, sounds academically thought out, etc). We'll introduce how to write and connect multiple paragraphs as well as intro, body, and conclusion.
Level 3: Here we'll reinforce sentence structure for Intro, body, and conclusion paragraphs as well as citation and source material research. We'll start on how to properly write a Five paragraph essay with the hourglass/pyramid format (Broad introduction that gets more specific when it gets to the thesis sentence, body paragraphs with point evidence and example sentences, and then specific reintroduction of main points to a broad conclusion of the thesis). [I may have this in the Middle school Level 2 section as this is something I learned in middle school] We will also introduce different types of essays such as Argumentative, Systhesis, Compare and Contrast, Narrative, Persuasive, etc.
Level 4: In this level we will introduce the importance of rough draft, revise and polish, editing and formatting, and college entrance essays and college application questions. This section will mostly be open to Junior (11th) and Senior (12th) grade students who are preparing for their academic life outside of Highschool. We will also be introducing how to write cover letters, resumes, and exploring the other side of life outside of High school.
Level 5: Collegiate level writing will focus on precision writing, using the fewest words necessary to accurately convey an idea. Objectivity, using accurate, clear and relevant information. Logical Structure, using precise word choice and structure. Researching, Formatting, time management, and consistence and conciseness. We will also go back to resume and cover letter writing for those who are looking for a career after a degree. We will be adding a section to help students with term paper writing as well as advancement (Masters and Doctorate level) writing.
I wanted to reach out to former, current, and aspiring English Teachers to ask for feedback on this idea. Is this something that you would use in your class as a teaching tool for your students? What can be done for this to be implemented in your classes if this website/program gets published? What things should be added, removed, improved, or changed in the current idea to make it go alongside the current English course curriculum in your school district? What else should be included to facilitate user interaction with this website?
Please give me as much feedback as you can think of, whether that is directly on this post or in a direct message. My hope and goal is to be able to develop the future generation and to move away from using AI as a writing tool because it takes away the practical skills that is severely lacking in some, if not most, of the students today.

2024.05.14 03:48 MichaelfromKroger Currently in college and have a website idea, can I get suggestions and pointers?

Good evening y'all (it's 9:45 pm EST)
As the title says, I'm currently a college student pursuing an IT degree and I was speaking with my father in law about an idea for a writing skills development program. The basis of the program/website is to teach students from Elementary school to the highschool and collegiate level on how to write essays. He postured that his students he has worked with do not have a good grasp on how to format their essays and papers, which then falls short in their future academic courses and he wants to make a program that will help them step by step.

As of right now, I have a basic site structure and idea of how to create the website but I'm needing advice on the execution. Questions I have are: How do I market this as a good program to use in the academic field and the benefits of this program to a local or state board of education? How would I make it profitable? I understand that I can make it a subscription for a business to use but I do not know the scope of the upkeep and maintenance it requires to keep a program like this from crashing and burning. Those who are in business, what can I do or what can I expect from starting this venture? This is my first business idea ever and I'm struggling to find the right resources to help me get it going besides winging it, please DM me any materials or resources that I can use or read up on to help me out with this venture. Right now, I don't have much money or resources to fully publish this idea, it's not even 5% created yet on the website standpoint, so there is a lot of room for rework and innovation before the final product can be marketed and used.
If this post is not acceptable please let me know. I want to be able to make my Father in Law's idea a reality because he is a man I deeply respect and admire.

2024.05.14 00:48 Artistic_Pirate_Gal English essay help

I’m new to the essays and need some help. I’m used to writing as I do it as a hobby and have written out more professional emails and such for multiple reasons.
But I’m unsure how to format it? I’m on the one where you have to write a mock cover letter and a mini thing about: Speed limit laws. A memorable day of your life. Or, my favorite sport.
Im on Google docs, as I don’t have word. And I know my little sister will have the same struggle so I needed to ask. Even just a photo of how someone else wrote it out will be a big help!
Edit: thanks for the help everyone. I greatly appreciate it!

2024.05.14 00:01 radiatingbaby ex broke up with me through a letter in the mail.

title is pretty much self explanatory. my ex and i went on a break a month ago saying we would go to couples therapy. three days before our first appointment, they mail me a letter saying goodbye to almost four years of our relationship. everything we’ve been through measly summed up for them in not even three pages. none of them from to back. kinda laughable that it was written on those mini notepad papers you use for work meetings too sooo lol…. one and a half pages technically if you wanna call it that. texted them and called them a coward for giving up like this. i got gaslit for it saying they did nothing but have their last words written to me with ‘nothing but love’ and that’s it unfair of me to be upset and insult them like this??? okay buddy. then i find out through mutual friends they were having an emotional affair with a coworker of theirs so i guess they really did take the easy way out to avoid telling me about it. and they had the audacity to say one day we’ll come back to each other. that isn’t love i want. if you truly loved me you would’ve never had done this to me. you would’ve tried to work this out with me together. now i don’t know what to do next. i know there’s not a lot of details as im on mobile and the formatting is weird but god i thought i did everything right. how do i share myself with someone like that again? where do i go from here?

2024.05.13 23:22 JohannGoethe I ask “how: 𐤋 » Λ » д? (and when?)”, at r/Russian (language), someone drops the S-bomb 💣, and the post, with 68 comments (5-hours), gets locked (and removed) per reason “I’m 🧌 trolling!”

I ask “how: 𐤋 » Λ » д? (and when?)”, at Russian (language), someone drops the S-bomb 💣, and the post, with 68 comments (5-hours), gets locked (and removed) per reason “I’m 🧌 trolling!”
Abstract
(add)
Overview
From here (12 May A69/2024), at the Russian sub (members: 253K), wherein I was barraged with comments in a 49-min window, before going to sleep:
https://preview.redd.it/p17f2wfte90d1.jpg?width=1375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=640b682e9dbfd16bb3b2a1f4feee3043e770eeaa
Here’s an example reply:
https://preview.redd.it/1ki091zhba0d1.jpg?width=1235&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe78b90cf38d510a69ab88e1298e4532c93effbc
Talk about pent up anger? Note: I just read (7:15PM 13 May A6) this comment in my comment “mail” section. But the Russian sub mods removed it. This is some type of linguistics anger like I’ve never seen before?? All because I’m asking about the origin of the Russian letter L?
Then someone drops the S-bomb bomb 💣:
https://preview.redd.it/la0u1z9wg90d1.jpg?width=1072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d010621dc0782dc49bf647d1e1dc1a4063dea32f
And, after 68+ comments, much of which occurring after I went to sleep, the post was locked 🔐 because I was clearly trolling:

Arabic Language sub
On 11 May A69 (2024), the one day before this post, I posted the following question to the learn_arabic (members: 71.4K) sub:
  • Do I have the word إيوان (Iwan) [68] {Arabic} rendered correctly? (11 May A69/2024) - Learn Arabic.
Things went just fine, the users were nice, and I got help with the ligature problem I was having with the Arabic name for the city of Heliopolis:
https://preview.redd.it/jjobl1ifi90d1.jpg?width=1421&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a10082769b8bb77b1b70d7d90cdd62ec886e94e2

Here we see an example of mutually respectful polite Q&A.
Syriac Language sub
On 9 May A69 (2024), three days before the Russian sub post, I posted the following question, at the Syriac sub (members: 385), about the first attested usage of the Syriac E:
  • Where is is the Syriac E (ܗ) first testified? Date of first usage? - Syriac.
Things went just fine:
https://preview.redd.it/f6zps34qk90d1.jpg?width=1747&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=372aac2ebdb8af6bb2160a9e8de27b54f8bb13e7
German Language sub
On 8 May A69 (2024), four days before the Russian sub post, I posted the following to the German sub (members: 332K):
  • Need help translating some of the words, e.g. 𓆄𓅱𓀭 → 𝔔𝔢𝔟 (Qeb) or Geb [?] or -ch- ligature of 𝔖c𝔥𝔲 (Shch/Shu), in the god tables and family trees in Brugsch’s Religion und Mythologie der alten Aegypter (8 May A69/2024) - German.
Things went just fine and I found the correct letter Q and S character, the font, and the date this version of type was introduced, by a very helpful user; the post, however, was eventually removed per their rule #4 (no translation requests):
https://preview.redd.it/afbw4ti9j90d1.jpg?width=1405&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f8d9433783afa7a99eedec668d872341cc4b3c9
Discussion
That I was not defined as a “troll 🧌 poster” in the three previous language subs, should CLEARLY evidence that was not trolling the Russian language sub, but rather genuinely interested on the how and when of the following type switch:
Λ » д
And also how I could find a Russian alphabet list, in text copy-past format, in Unicode, that had a lambda L (Λ)?
Update
One of the mods of the Russian sub messaged (9:58PM 13 May A69) the following:
Hi there! We reviewed your post, and the bigger issue is that it’s not really on topic for the sub, which is about general language learning, and not specific questions about name transliteration. The history of the Cyrillic alphabet is sufficiently well summarized in the Wikipedia articles on the topic, and is further detailed in the paper by a Bulgarian linguist Ivan Georgie Iliev:
  • Iliev, Ivan. (Α66/2021). “Short History of the Cyrillic Alphabet”, Research Gate.
We hope you find the answers you are looking for. Best of luck!
Notes
  1. Above we see me use the new one word: reply (period) method, which I will now be using when someone drops red flag 🚩 terms, after which I will just shut my mind down to that user. And if they continue to post in the EAN subs, temp or full bans will result.
  2. The point of me typing this page up, was so that I could message this post to the mods of Russian, to shows I was not “trolling”.
