I got the diagnosis 3 years ago while checking a cyst at my neck via ultrasonic.. I do blood checks every 6 month since then but just for the single tsh, which is always ok. So my doc don't give me meds, which is ok for me so far. I had been to different doctors multiple times bevore because of fatigue, brain fog and freezing. Because the tsh was always ok, they never found something. So I am glad for the diagnosis.
I don't have any other symptoms than those above plus struggling with my workouts because of long lasting muscle pain after working out. The brain fog is bad because of work. I normally love my job but sometimes I sit on my desk like a zombie getting nothing done at all. It stresses me out because time doesn't go by, I feel bad for my collegues and I am scared my brain is destroying hisself. Private live is also a little bit shut down, because no energie is left after 10h workday. Even cooking, household sometimes gets hard. I do it anyways but it's always fighting.
So I will try with my diat to change some of the symptoms for the better. While doing slow carb the freezing is cone - which makes me super happy and is - I think - because of the increased protein intake. The only source of carbohydrates come from legumes but I consume them not everyday. Staples are eggs and collagen coffee in the morning, the rest is veggies and meet. Sometimes the fatigue and brain fog is gone, sometimes it comes back (even on slow carb). I haven't find out yet. I don't think I have leaky gut or gluten intolerance and I never have headaches or a weak stomach.
When I have brain fog and fatigue I get really high sugar gravings which I can't resist. It feels like my body thinks it's the only solution to get energy.
I had binche eating disorder when going to restrictive about food so I hesitate to do AIP.
Do you have some advice or plan for me to solve fatigue and brain fog for good?
Can I cut out e. g. Nightshades for a couple of months and see if I might react to them with fatigue? Or is the inflammation to high over all that it won't react to a single change?

There were a bunch of great vitamins on Amazon for “cleansing” your gut but unfortunately all had black walnut which I’m allergic to. I always wondered if I cleared out it out that maybe I’d lose the extra weight around my stomach? Like leaky gut syndrome maybe? I’m not sure I’m kind of self diagnosing right now but was very interested in oregano based vitamins.

I have been struggling for about 4 years with chronic health problems that I believe are related to gut dysbiosis. It started with brain fog and depression, then fatigue, then skin problems, and in the past 6 months I've developed reoccurring UTIs (which I have to take antibiotics to treat- I'm sure that's not helping anything).
I am not sure if Candida is my problem. It seems likely, but there are a few other options that match up with my symptoms and the recommended diets are nearly antithetical. I asked my naturopath for gut microbiome testing and they declined. They don't think my issues are gut related since I don't deal with stomach pain, diarrhea or anything like that.
Has anyone used an at-home gut microbiome test kit and gotten helpful results? I think this is the route I will take but I'm afraid of getting scammed and wasting money that I could be spending on supplements or food instead. In particular, I'm considering the "Biohm" brand test, the doctor behind it seems really legit and has done a ton of peer reviewed research on the mycobiome.
Any advice is appreciated!

I just had a colonoscopy and I’m wondering how this disrupts our micro biome. I’ve been on the Candida diet for 8 weeks and I’m hoping it doesn’t undo all of my work. Hi everyone! I think I have issues with candida growth in my GI so I was looking into vitamins for it and saw that oregano was great for killing candida. Maybe I’m actually in a toxic situation (possibly narcissistic unhealthy Enfj friend and friend group who orbits around that enfj ) and I’m just trying to avoid accepting it. But rn I’ve been in a loop of negativity such as imposter syndrome, thinking the people I surround myself with at school is being colder to me. It’s complicated and obviously I can’t explain every grey and nuanced detail in this post, but I don’t know whether it’s my Ni-Ti making me go paranoid or if it’s genuinely my gut telling me that something’s wrong.
Again I can’t explain all the morally greys, how my friends are good people too or how maybe I’m the problem and etc. There are many ways u can see it and I can’t explain that in a Reddit post.
In theory, self isolation or me distancing myself amplifies my Ni-Ti loop. In my case I’ve been getting more thoughts on how I’m worthless or of no value to the friends I care about, how if I was to just leave they wouldn’t really care. (This is because in my group of friends I always seemed invisble or I didn’t stand out as much. The enfj and others in that group used make sure once in awhile I was heard. But maybe it’s me being crazy like lately they’ve been hazing me out as well)
i also no longer feel I fit in their group and that I’ve grown out of my friendship with my them
Examples (I get a vibe that my enfj friend and I don’t see eye to eye anymore but her unhealthy fe doesn’t want to confront me about anything or she doesn’t know how without making it passive aggressive jokes. maybe my Ni-Ti is making me loose sight of what’s Fe important to her and the group. My Ti has also been getting annoyed with her black and white views on people and world issues. I find she thinks she’s very observant and well read on ppl (she kinda is ) so when she gets a hunch from Ni-Se she immediately sticks with it and then labels it as good or bad no in between. )
So when that happens I get a feeling she projects certain hunches onto me without ever asking me questions or actually talking to me about it in any way.
I also find that I’m ask ways the one listening to her issues and she never does for me. This I could be paranoid ab so take with salt. But I find when she dumps her black and white anger on me, it’s hard to pull her out of it. And so I end up just being a listening and trying to weave my advice through nicely. She doesn’t listen or ask about my problems because I think she thinks she knows it already. Again this could be the loop feeding into the negativity, turning find more evidence on my bad hunch.
And then again my other friends in that group, such as an isfj tend to gravitate and kinda lowkey suck up to my enfj bc she is good company. And she really is. We all have a good time when she’s around (or atleast me included before now)
But I’ve been feeling so drained when I see them instead of how it used to be. There’s always this suppressed dread before I spend time with them now. Before, we had similar viewpoints and humour, but now I just feel like a backup friend that will be their fall cushion after their endeavours with other people.
Does anyone have similar experiences with falling out with friends? Or like experiences with unhealthy enfjs? Or just Fe doms because my close friends from that group are enfj and isfj
I’ve always been anxious avoidant and I can see how that is a big issue with situations like this but I really love this group of friends and I don’t know if it’s just me Ni-Ti paranoïa or if it’s actually a sign we’ve grown out of each other and that I should distance myself.

Hi - I’ve been supplementing with Biofilm Defense and Nystatin tablets for about 2 months now. 1 Biofilm Buster before bed and 2x 500,000 Nystatin 3x a day.

Does anyone have any concrete information on this? I’ve always dealt with gut sensitivities and IBS- mixed, but it became intolerable and more triggered during the pandemic. I’ve had 3 colonoscopies / polypectamies in the past year which I know has fucked my gut microbiome. I have a hereditary colon polyposis syndrome - i’m 37 years old - so I have to do these every 6 months.
One day when it got really bad to the point where the only thing I could tolerate was sourdough bread with butter and plain low to mid fat proteins, my boyfriend realized the water from our tap smelled like sulfur, which this goes to the filtration system for the water from the fridge. The water from the fridge smelled and tasting fine and our filters are always new and kept up. Before this I never really gave much thought to water source or its importance but my boyfriend researched the source in our area and it included possibly some well water too and it has high levels of sulfur although we don’t know what else is in the water.
Anyhow I still didn’t think much of it but I immediately stopped drinking it and started going down the rabbit hole watching Martin the Water Sommelier on TikTok, who says all “purified” water and a lot of bottled water they sell is basically glorified tap water. So I also stopped drinking that and switched to only natural spring water and started adding in mineral waters like Ararat and waters with high TDE levels, along with other sources that count as hydration (basically anything else we normally drink).
That 6 weeks ago now and my intestinal system is so much fucking better, I am still in shock. I have been on a very strict low fodmap diet and any time i tried to veer off before or tried to incorporate more fiber or variety of sources it would be extreme pain, distention, bloating, explosive diarrhea for days, migraines. Now im slowly able to add tiny bits in and not die!
Does anyone have any insight on what this could be about and if there is any correlation? Does water source greatly affect our microbiome and are we less aware of it than we should be?

It’s been almost a year since I’ve gotten out of the army. It felt like time was moving infinitely slow while I was active duty. Between basic, AIT, OCONUS and FORSCOM, the crazy hours and amount field trainings, looking back, I realize it now that the years all went by so quickly the army is just really good at making one day feel like two days, and it was almost like a dream. I guess I got out because I was burnt out and expected more in the civilian side and looked at everyone around my age group starting to graduate college which made me feel like I was being left behind, but honestly I should’ve never compared myself, I never took leave (which was a bigger mistake). After ETSing it was like nothing ever changed back home. My experiences in service changed me significantly and quickly started to die down back home. For me now, time has been flying since I’ve left and it’s scary. Looking back at AD it wasn’t so bad, I had all my basic needs, it was simple! I had my hard earned money to spend on fun things for myself and got to see quite a bit of the US and places I would’ve never seen if I hadn’t joined, I had a nice routine and vacations/reunions were fruitful. Unlike most I had very competent leaders who I could look up to and met some amazing friends and connections. I miss that gut feeling of the unknown, where I could be next year, who I would be working with or who I’d meet, what the next training would look like. I enjoyed being in the field at night and seeing the stars in the field, I wish I could’ve given the army a chance as a career maybe looked forward to the possibility of being sent overseas to Germany or Italy or who knows maybe would’ve been sent to the gulag at hood, but nonetheless I’m unfulfilled now with no sense of direction, my mind was a lot sharper while I was in service, i was actually a lot happier, physically fit and proud of myself, and I was good at my job, simply put i was good at being soldier, and I flourished in the structure. I always was adventurous looking back at pictures of myself, i hate to admit it but i enjoyed the suck, i smiled through it and at the end of the day i always had fun being in the wilderness and exploring new regions, I always took extra time to take training seriously on my part because who knew if we would ever be down range. Didn’t realize it at the time but it was fun being able to look forward to returning from a field exercise, a good shower and a good beer before Mondays PT, the simplicity of wearing a uniform for work, and it was like a milestone every time i got to come back home to visit my family and friends. I realize now it was different from most of my friends because it was my path, After being back in the civ side i realize I don’t belong in a cooperate America. I never asked myself before leaving service, would you be willing to stay in one spot or job for the rest of your life, do I have it in me to climb a corporate ladder? I enjoyed my own little bubble in the army away from my hometown and now I feel like a fish out of water. I would reenlist but I ended up getting 100% service connected, I would give it up to have my life back. I was told that it’s risky and I might be left with nothing because I have to give it up before evening trying to go back to Meps and unfortunately I have a pretty long medical history for physical injuries so I might be SOL under genesis portal. I’m still young in my mid 20s, and no fellas I don’t have Stockholm syndrome. Can anyone relate or give advice?

I’m struggling with gut issues my whole life, the last 3 years I developed severe chronic pain, malabsorption, indigestion, fatigue, depression and other devastating sibo like symptoms that ruin my life. No doctor could ever give me a diagnosis, except a big gallstone found recently. Which is just another symptom that developed over time due to my gut health like leaky gut, malabsorption and what not.
Being in pain, depleted, depressed and hopeless I’m just longing for an answer. So I just took the plunge and did a GI Map which was quite in an investment. Now the results being back I’m just overwhelmed. I don’t know what results to focus on first, how to tackle the most important/alarming bacteria dysbiosis?😮‍💨

It came on suddenly after a long bike ride last week, in which I initially had watery diarrhea for a couple days. I took loperamide/imodium as I was out with friends for that weekend and I didn’t want any stomach problems, but after dose 1 the problem remained (although may be my fault because I ate a cheap chicken sandwich?). I then switched completely to eating only about 4 bananas, two plain bagels and a bunch of bottled waters for the remainder of the weekend, and taking more Loperamide each day. When I returned home on Monday, the diarrhea returned as soon as I ate anything non-bland, so I returned to eating bland, mostly just rice and applesauce. Since then, I haven’t had diarrhea per say, but really loose stools that start looking solid but then fall apart and become mushy. They’re light brown/yellowish and have some kind of white fluffy looking mucus in them. Could this be something temporary? It came on suddenly, and most of the time my bowel movements are pretty normal, maybe a little light colored at times but I’ve always chalked that up to my bad diet. It’s lasted just over a week now. What are the odds this is some infection/gut bacteria thing (candida maybe?) as opposed to something new and permanent like IBS or Crohn’s? I’m praying, I really am praying it’s not something like that.

I am willing to bet (and I never bet) that if there were a single common denominator that leads to a caretaker’s overall sense of burnout, it would be poor sleep. We don’t sleep well in many ways, but I want to address two biggies.
Poor Sleep Hygiene [^\1])](app://obsidian.md/index.html#fn-1-918560c8e41eb09e) [^\2])](app://obsidian.md/index.html#fn-2-918560c8e41eb09e) is an odd term that has little to nothing to do with cleanliness (or Godliness, for that matter). It is a set of actions that sets the environment and mood of your bedtime routine up for nothing other than sleep. Reserve the bed for only two activities: sleep and sex. You can learn about the latter on another site. Turning off your phone before you crawl into bed is a major part of this routine. If you have a TV in your room, turn that off before getting into bed too. It’s not just the frenetic activity on electronic visual devices. It’s the blue light emitted from them that messes with your sleep hormones. So, turn off your phone, TV, and whatever other media you might have before turning off the lights. Next, turn off the lights before getting into bed.
Another common sleep problem is Sleep Apnea. That’s not the same as snoring. However, a person with sleep apnea certainly snores; a snorer does not necessarily have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when your jaw and tongue slip back so that it cuts off the airway. You stop breathing. Age, weight, fitness, and about thirty-trillion other factors can contribute to sleep apnea. The most common treatment is a C-PAP machine. It forces air so the sleeper cannot get blocked as easily. I had to break down and get a sleep test late last year. Sure enough, my sleep interruptions were severe enough to warrant a C-PAP.
I hate the damn thing! I really, truly do. However, begrudgingly, I admit I have considerably more energy and am awake the entire day now. In contrast, for as long as I can remember, I needed at least an hour-long nap in the early afternoon, or I could not make it through the early evening. I suppose I will come to accept my life with a C-PAP as the decades pass. Still, for now, I will continue using it every night and devote much energy to bitching about it every day at around 1:00 p.m.

1. This has to be one of the stupidest psychiatric terms in the medical lexicon. Largely because it has nothing to do with being clean.
2. A good runner-up–perfect onomatopoeia–but a little too base for medical terminology is “Dumping Syndrome.” It is a GI term, and it means what it says. The opposite of dumping syndrome is “gastroparesis,” which, of course, sounds very sciency, as in no one knows what the hell it could possibly mean. (Okay, it’s Greek for partial paralysis of the gut.)

Hello I have been eating Brazil nuts, 1-2 a day, taking zinc biglycinate 15mg every other day, 200mg of Magnesium Glycinate every night and 5000ui of D3 every day. I am not sure if I should add K2 100mcg because I am getting conflicting information everywhere as to whether it can cause blood clotting or you need to have a ratio with k1, I just don't know so I haven't touched it yet but anyway after about 1 month of doing this my TPO AB went from 1600 to 1000, and Thyroglobulin AB is still the same at 600. Also found out I have 2 nodules in my parathyroid gland, but I was told they are not going to do anything about it because my PTH levels are normal and calcium at the time it was discovered 1.5 years ago.
Also, can anyone please tell me the best Hashimoto's diet/food they eat that has helped them with severe fatigue, bloating, and 100% inability to poop(I seriously need help on my constipation, the probiotics my gastro suggested caused my constipation to be way worse and it hasn't recovered since stopping them 3 weeks ago, I used to go once a week, now its once every 1.5 weeks. My cat Marley poops at least 8x the amount each week than I do.
Weight gain...Prior to being diagnosed with Lymphocytic Thyroiditis, I never understood how people were unable to lose weight, I was one of those people who really just didn't understand I am 35yr old male 5'9 2 years ago when I was diagnosed I weighed 150lbs I exercised, did kick boxing for fun to stay in shape after all of a sudden getting extremely fatigued and not know what was happening i got the diagnosis. I went from 150lbs to 180lbs in 1 year and the next year(currently now) I weigh 213lbs. I am starting to gain energy back especially after starting Tirosint which after going through generic and 4 brand names its a god send to me on top on my vitamins. I still have chronic fatigue but at least I can walk up 3 steps in my house without having palpitations and being so tired and needing to rest for a few hours to recover or staying in bed for days because no matter how much sleep i got I never felt I slept. I started to believe i had narcolepsy, I would fall asleep everywhere at inappropriate places and times, i could not help it. Okay enough of all that so I paid to see a dietician which ill admit i do not have much money and it was everything I had to see this guy and he gave me the worse advise ever to eat. I should have known while i watched him google hashimoto diets during our appointment. Please if anyone could tell me their diets that has helped them tremendously i would be so thankful, also I can't afford to go see a functional Dr or a motility specialist so please no one tell me that I already know, I am seeking advice here, and if anyone knows how I can cure my leaky gut and bloating. sorry one last question does Hashimoto's/constipation cause breathing issues? I have always had mild asthma, but my breathing has become really bad with wheezing and scratchy throat. Im not sure if its hashis or where I live, im renting and the floor is asbestos tiles covered by peel and stick laminate tiles as well as lead paint on the window frames which i will paint over when I have the money for paint(renting from my sister for very cheap and she won't buy the paint, in case anyone says its landlords responsibility, I am saving to move, because i dont trust the asbestos and mold in laundry room), XRAY showed nothing in lungs, my pulmonologist thinks it might have something to do with my vocal cords? My albuterol has no effect on it and I was given Symbicort which does not help at all either, in fact all it does is give me a headache and make my pulse go up to 120bpm i guess because they're both beta-agonist. Please anyone any advice on diet and anything else I asked would highly appreciate it. Thank you

It’s high 90s where I live and it will be like this for months and months. I’ve been going through all sorts of auto immune flare ups the last couple months, along with SIBO and leaky gut flare ups to the point where I’ve had to cut out even more of my safe foods. I have definitely gained weight even though I am in a large caloric deficit. The inflammation and swelling and water retention is insane especially when it’s in the high 90s outside. I am fully freaking out. My ocd is spiraling. And I have reached the point where I am just going to fully starve and go back to eating salad and lean protein and low fat. That’s what I was doing last year when I was my skinniest and I felt fine. When I gain weight, I have panic attacks and I have these outburts energy moments when I FRRAK OUT in my body like an energy panic surge and I just want to scream and jump out of my skin. I cannot live like this. I’d rather live off my Sf pudding and salads and the few safe foods that my body can tolerate. The leg swelling is driving me insane. Im struggling

We have a 2S+Basement brick colonial in the Atlanta area (US zone 3). The house was built in 1970 and originally had a large monolithic forced air gas heat and AC system. That setup was all gutted and replaced with two (one for basement and lower floor, one for upper) heat pump systems, encapsulated the attic, and made various other improvements to the envelope. It's still fairly "leaky" but much improved over 10 years ago. There are some moisture issues in certain areas and we have to run the A/C more in the shoulder seasons than I'd like. Allergens are also a concern, so every little bit helps.
I'd like to add ducted whole-home dehumidification to either one or both of the existing systems and other than how to plumb them am a little stuck. The current ducting is in good shape and well balanced. I would probably implement dedicated return and supply into the existing supply trunk with a backflow damper. Do I worry about the existing systems or just take some readings on temp/humidity, etc and do some volumetric calculations? I'm not sure where to start other than the "hey, that number in the brochure is about how big my house is" kind of math.
My gut is leaning towards something like a SanteFe Ultra 70 or 98 for each of the systems. Is there really such a thing as "oversizing" an application or are quality units variable and you just end up with a bit of wasted capacity and higher cost (but no real performance downside) similar to a variable heat-pump with excess capacity?
Input on how to go about evaluating my needs would be a huge help.
