2024.05.17 13:48 Dereksversion love my keychron k4 but want some changes to my keys

I love my K4, Its my first mechanical, I got it with the Gateron browns and I love that its right in the middle for noise, I work in an office and so it doesn't piss off my office-mates.
its also my first keyboard with per key lighting, which I really love, after having a few membrane boards with like 5 zone lighting or whatever and dreaming of the per key look, its everything I hoped for.
BUT I have a few things that I would want different and I don't know how to even start to figure out the right moves way to address them.
so #1, I love the color scheme of the OEM keycaps, the grey characters and light grey function keys and the orange ESC and RGB key, even before I knew it was Keychon's I saw mech keyboards and thought that was what I wanted hands down. HOWEVER, I find that the RGB barely lights up the letters on the keys and doesn't seem that bright in between the keys. is there some hack or is there a set of keycaps that have maybe bigger font or just better shine through for the RGB? (I do not want fully translucent keycaps, I like the contrast of only the letters being lit up!) as well, i find the keys pretty shiny when i have my monitor light bar on, makes it hard to read it sometimes!
and #2, even though the browns had what i guess most people consider a high pressure to depress the keys, my ham fists are quite big and i end up depressing multiple keys just by grazing them, i feel like a heavier switch would improve the board feel for me, can anyone recommend switches that won't increase the noise but increase the key pressure needed?
apologies if i didn't search this sub well enough before posting, i didn't find a lot of currently available help from older threads asking this stuff!

2024.05.17 11:09 createdjustforthis23 17/05/2024

I haven’t journaled yet today, it’s 6:23pm so I guess I’ll start now. It’s been a fine day, I’ve been so sleepy though. But not drained tired, sleepy tired? I slept fine though, as per usual. I still managed to be pretty productive work wise which I’m proud of myself for.
I read an article today about assisted dying for mental health related reasons as opposed to physical health. It seems to be somewhat controversial, which is fine but I am firmly on the side that if all options have been exhausted then you should be able to use a healthcare service like that. I do realise I’m very pro assisted dying, I’d use the E word but lord knows I’d get chat requests being like blah blah blah you need god blah blah blah. I try and avoid certain searchy words for that reason, I clearly fail a lot of the time. Anyway I think it’s a good thing. I don’t think it should ever be considered a light decision, and I agree that there should be layers in place to ensure the person is entirely informed and clear on the decision. It’s hard though, because for those with psychiatric illnesses some may not be considered “in their right mind” so their application might be denied based on that, but I feel like the whole point of their application is because of their mind so… ? I’m sure there’s a smart way about deciphering who’s safe to get it and who’s not, but I just know it will always err on the side of caution and if there’s even a seed of doubt they’d get denied. But I think it’s important to have psychiatric illnesses included too, not just physical illnesses - both are suffering an unbearable amount, it’s just that one is visible and the other isn’t - and I don’t feel like other people should be able to make health related decisions for someone purely because they can’t see the illness. Anyway I’m glad it’s an option for some people, because killing yourself can be so violent and messy and a lot more traumatic for their family, whereas I think if they can choose to go peacefully then that’s a lot better. I realise it’s still hard for the family and friends and things, but I hate when people call it selfish. It is NOT selfish and I feel like the only people who say it’s selfish are the people who can’t fathom the amount of pain you can experience. And even if they haven’t experienced the feeling, so what? They likely also haven’t experienced cancer or paralysis or whatever else, but they show more sympathy then. It’s like they think people choose to hurt in their head or something. Anyway I think it’s very sad but I could not feel more strongly about the fact you should have control over your life - which includes how it ends. I don’t think some random doctor or government who doesn’t even know you should be able to dictate how you end your life. I think putting measures in place to review applications is important but I think there should be less decision from strangers and more decision from the individual that it’s actually affecting. Anyway. I’m a BIG believer in this and I’m glad that those suffering in their head might have some sort of option.
No therapy today, I thought I did but forgot we didn’t have a session this week as she’s on leave.
I love him so much. He just sent the cutest thing. So I asked if he could call me when he wakes up even if I’m asleep, and I said I know I can be clingy which is not news to him, anyway he said this is you with a lil smiley and it was a lil video of a baby panda latched on to a zookeepers leg and it wouldn’t let go. He is the zookeeper to my baby panda :) He just makes me so… everything. I can say things like I’m clingy and I miss you and can you please call me and I know he won’t think I’m silly or annoying or anything, or maybe he does sometimes but he doesn’t ever make me feel bad about it. I just love him so much it hurts.
His keyboard is all set up now and he’s so thrilled with it and it makes me so happy!
I wish I could use retinol, but I know my skin will go berserk if I do :(
I haven’t really done anything this evening. I’ve had a shower, read my book, watched some YT and tried to shape my nails a bit and failed. I’m so so so so bad at shaping nails.
There was an earthquake :(
I really need to book my usual appointments, I mean I can go longer with my brows but I do also kind of need hair, brow and nails appointments… I think I’ll wait a bit longer though. Especially for hair. And I can do my own nails and save $80 considering they do next to nothing anyway. I just feel so ugly. So so so so ugly.
I really have nothing to say so night night

2024.05.17 10:42 Tatts1664 Introducing EVE to my partner - Advice

Greetings,
I have returned to EVE after a 16 year break and have created a new character. A lot has changed but it is still very much the EVE I remember, so I was able to jump into the action relatively easily. I’m currently enjoying FW and WH/Null exploration.
My partner wants to give EVE a go on her separate computer. Her only experience with gaming is Red Dead Redemption 2, Subnautica and Hogwarts Legacy.
Besides the beginning tutorial, what would be a good path to take for a beginner who is starting out on EVE for the first time?
Once she picks up the basics, what options would you recommend for a co’op style play?
I’m conscious that I don’t want to overwhelm her with too much info to begin with. Just using a keyboard and mouse for gaming will be a learning experience in itself.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.17 07:56 Expecto_Spaghettios [Ms-dos] [early to mid 1990s?] simple game that let you breed creatures that hatched from eggs and shared genetic qualities from both parents

Platform(s): MS-DOS played from PC
Genre: Simulation, science?
Estimated year of release: 1980-1995. I played this around 1993-95.
Graphics/art style: Somewhere between "Jill of the Jungle" and "Commander Keen" graphics quality.
Maybe vga graphics? The game was in color, but it was very limited pallette.
Side scroller type background, but I can't remember if the screen actually scrolled. If it did, it was only a bit to the left or right.
I can't remember if they all walked across the same elevation on the screen, or if there was maybe a shelf or row of something that could let them go up higher so there would be two levels of walking back and forth.
Notable characters: I can't remember what the characters were for sure, but they were all similar. They were a creature, monster, alien, or possibly a cow type being. They came in a variety of basic colors and maybe patterns. There were different physical features that the characters had like horns, big ears, tail?, etc. I remember a fushia pink creature and maybe a purple. I'm sure there were more colors.
The creatures laid an egg after mating. It just sat in the same path that they characters walked back and forth on. I think maybe the egg could have polka dots on it sometimes.
Notable gameplay mechanics: They were bi-pedal and walked back and forth across the screen. You would breed two characters (I don't remember what this looked like. Maybe it had them stand together for so many seconds?) and the offspring would inherit features from both parents. You could then continue breeding the new characters to come up with new and different creatures that inherited their parents' genetics.
I played using a keyboard. I only needed the arrow keys and maybe Enter or Spacebar.
Other details: Came on the big 5 inch floppy disks. My uncle likely bought it at some type of flea market /swap meet/ technology show. I remember looking through paper ream type boxes that were filled with tons of floppy disks in sleeves that were for sale.
The computer ran some flavor of dos. There was no windows OS. However I remember that my uncle got a brand new computer around this time, and it ran windows 2.1.
I remember I played some apogee games, but I don't know that this was by them. Some titles I played around this time: Cosmos cosmic adventures, crystal caves, Jill of the jungle, commander keen, flyed, a slot machine game, a poker game that looked a lot like some I've seen on the screens at casinos.
I loved this game as a little kid. I played a lot of side scrolling games and card games, so the concept of this was completely new to me. This was also my introduction to the concept of genetics, so it was absolutely fascinating to me.
I would love to find this game again. Thank you!

2024.05.17 07:49 Joshh170 Hades 2 Update Patch Notes Revealed

Hades 2 Update Patch Notes Revealed
Hades 2 developer Supergiant Games released new patch notes for the game's first early access update, which fixes several issues. Community feedback was key for the release of the new Hades 2 update, since Supergiant Games was able to find and fix several issues with the help of avid players.
The original Hades took the roguelike genre by storm in 2020, receiving critical acclaim and winning the hearts of players around the world. Although Supergiant Games typically does not develop sequels to its games, the popularity of Hades and the demand for more games like it encouraged the studio to develop Hades 2. Fans and critics were taken by surprise when Hades 2 was officially unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, and players were finally able to start their playthrough a year and a half later with the technical test, followed by the early access release of Hades 2 on Steam.
In a new Steam blog post, Supergiant Games revealed patch notes for the first Hades 2 early access update. The studio thanks fans for helping out with identifying issues that needed to be resolved, with most of the listed fixes being labeled as changes inspired by community feedback. Sprinting and dashing were formally addressed first in the patch notes, with Supergiant Games confirming that the Sprint and Dash mechanics are now more responsive and reliable following recovery animations. Sprinting is also faster, and certain abilities were rescaled to compensate for this change. In addition, the Swift Runner card now makes the player's Dash activate immediately, with the only downside being that the player's character will be invulnerable for slightly less time than before.
What's more, Hades 2 players may now gather from any resource point after unlocking the necessary Gathering Tool. The new Hades 2 update also applies adjustments and improvements to Driftwood resources, early encounters with Eris, mouse controls, and controller support.
The latest update applies a slew of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, including technical fixes for Hades 2's strange crashing issues. According to the patch notes, various issues involving ultrawide resolutions, keyboard inputs, and controller inputs were also addressed. As a result, players should have an easier time switching between controllers and a mouse and keyboard setup in Hades 2.
Supergiant Games confirms that a second Hades 2 update is being prepared with balance changes and adjustments based on what the development team has observed thus far. This means that players can expect more improvements in Hades 2, and community feedback will continue to be important in finding more issues that should be remedied before the game's eventual full launch.
Hades 2 Early Access Update Patch Notes
General Gameplay
Your Sprint is innately faster and turning is more responsive; re-scaled abilities that boost this You now can Dash out of many attack recovery animations more reliably You now can gather from any resource point once you have unlocked the corresponding Gathering Tool; you now can Prioritize any available Tool in the Training Grounds to make its resources appear as often as before, while resources for Tools you do not Prioritize will appear far less often
Altar of Ashes
The Swift Runner: now also makes your Dash immediate (note the faster speed means you are invulnerable for very slightly less time); re-scaled Sprint speed bonus since Sprint is innately faster now
Level Design & Environments
It is easier to Dash across chasms in Oceanus Driftwood resources are more common in the Rift of Thessaly
Menus & UI
Using a Well of Charon displays your current Gold without the need to check your Boon Info The Grasp Upgrade Tutorial in the Altar of Ashes will repeat if ignored Added Patch Notes option to the Main Menu (where you can read this!)
Miscellaneous
Early encounters with Eris are less likely to occur; she also drops something of value... Related, if this already occurred, look for a one-time bonus in the Crossroads while Eris is present Entries in the Book of Shadows are generally easier to reveal You can gift Echo without having to wait around as long after conversing Adjusted Animal Familiar upgrades invalidated by the Gathering Tool changes above In the Hades Flashback, a hint will eventually play for players who don't realize they are in control Improved mouse selection in various cases Improved support for some additional controllers Abilities that boost Sprint speed display more-accurate numbers (generally lower than before) Updates and fixes to translations in some languages
Bug Fixes
Fixed several issues with Dark Side (Selene) Fixed Sun Worshiper (Apollo) sometimes preventing new foes from spawning Fixed Fire Extinguisher (Hestia) not dealing damage as expected Fixed Sister Blades Omega Attack not hitting Chronos reliably from certain angles Fixed Satyr Hoplites retaining the ability to block while afflicted with Twilight Curse (Selene) Fixed various cases of foes sometimes spawning out of bounds Fixed camera zoom-in getting stuck vs. Polyphemus in certain situations Fixed cases where you could Dash out of bounds in the Crossroads Fixed Fishing Pier events in the Crossroads not passing Whiles like other similar events Fixed autolock not clearing as expected while using mouse controls Fixed keyboard inputs sometimes getting stuck unexpectedly Fixed several input issues switching from gamepad to mouse-and-keyboard controls Fixed several issues playing in ultrawide resolutions Fixed some visual effects vs. Chronos lingering between phases or after the fight Fixed a Melinoë voice line repeating unexpectedly around the City of Ephyra Bat Cages Fixed various rare crashes Fixed several text errors Other minor fixes

Begins script:
FEEL FREE TO ADD AS MANY FX AS YOU'D LIKE
(You're ending a consultation) Ok, so just take the pills, and stay off those flowers ok?
(Funny) I know, you wanted to surprise your wife, but next time.....maybe a box of chocolates? (Giggle)
Alright... Take care.
[Door closes]
[Keyboard]
(Thinking out loud) Alright.... This goes here and ...perfect, that note is done.
(Asking your assitant) Anna?................ Send in my next patient please. Thank you.
Umm..how many more do I have for today?
(Rethoric) 2 more including this one?
(Tired) Great, I'm so tired.
Thanks Anna.
[Door closes]
(Ugh mocking) (Sigh) Today's been such a slow day...I mean, who on earth buys a huge bouquet of roses when they have such a strong pollen allergy... seriously (giggle)
[Door knock]
Come in....
(Soon as your new patient arrives you're blown away by her beauty)
(Professionally nice but blown away) Hello, I'm Dr (insert asmrtist name) and you are...?
(Reverb thoughts) Wow she's so beautiful...
(Reverb pep talk) Can it (insert asmrtist name) she's a patient you can't afford to think like that. Be professional!
(End of reverb)
(Coming back to reality) Oh umm...pleased to meet you.
Take a seat please.
[For the whole interview question part you can add a soothing keyboard sound on the back if you'd like, like you're taking notes]
(Professionally nice) So...tell me, What brings you here today?
(Rethoric) Oh, so you got a new health insurance and they gave you a free checkup at this hospital?
(Nice) Ok. yeah, it's always good to get a checkup every once in a while.
Which health insurance company did you hire?
Yeah, their health plan is very complete.
Do you have any current symptoms of any kind?
(Rethoric) Small seasonal allergy?
(Giggling) Yeah, that's very common this days, tell me about it (giggle)
Any medication you're taking for it?
(Sounds logical) Oh, that's the standard.
Any other medications?
(Rethoric) Occasional aspirin for a headache?
Ok.. that's fine.
Any relevant medical history?
(Rethoric) You got your appendix out when you were 12? Ok...
And..no chronic diseases?
Glad to hear.
Diseases in the family? Cancer, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, anything relevant?
(Rethoric) Oh, your grandpa died from colon cancer 2 years ago?
(Sorry) Oh, sorry to hear.
And...how old are you?
(Giggle) I know, as a man it's never easy to ask that question, but as doctor I have to.
When was the last time you went to the doctor?
(Shocked) 2 years ago?!?!
Remember it's always good to see the doctor once a year. So I'm glad you're here now. (Seeth smile)
(Starting the physical examination) (End keyboard sounds)
(Always be calm, you want to inspire confidence to the listenepatient that there's nothing to worry about)
(Professionally nice) Alright. So I would like to start by assessing your vitals. I'm gonna check your pulse and then take your blood pressure...is that ok?
Alright... Just gonna get a feel here in your wrist...
(Wait a sec)
80... You're pulse is fine
If you would lend me your arm please, just gonna wrap the pressure cuff around.....
Alright...just relax.....you may feel some pressure while I take the measurement.
[Pressure cuff sound inflate and deflate]
75/110...
(Rethoric) Low?....
(Confident) Not really... it's said 80/120 is the standard, but it really depends on the patient, medical history, the height, the weight....so for you 75/110 is fine.
I'm gonna take a listen to your heart now. Ok?
Gonna warm up the stethoscope with my hands before I start ..
(Funny nice) You know, there's nothing meaner than a cold stethoscope (giggle). So I try to avoid that with my patients.
Alright, Just breath normally..
(Listening attentively) mmm....ok....
Could you squeeze both your hands really tight for me?, I'm gonna take another listen.
(You keep listening) mmm
Ok, relax...
Everything sounds normal.
Now I'm gonna listen to your lungs ok?
(Do not breath along you're listening) Take a deep breath for me...in ..........and out.......
Once more please...in......and out ....
Again.....in.......and out....
Last one.....in.....aaand out ....
Alright...it all sounds fine there.
Now, I'd like you lay down in the examination table so I can assess your abdomen ok?..
Alright.
There we go.
Now, I'm gonna lift up your shirt slightly, is that ok?
Ok ..
You said you haven't had any recent abdominal symptoms right?
Ok.
I'm gonna take a listen to your abdomen then..
Now, it may take some time for vowel sounds to appear, but that's normal, so you have nothing to worry about.
(Wait a few sec)
Ok, everything sounds fine.
Now I'm gonna do some percussion, this mainly requires me tapping around your abdomen to asses dullness ok?
Alright.
[You may include the abdominal percussion sounds if you'd like]
(Thinking aloud) (Something sounds a bit off but you don't wanna raise any alarms) Hmm...
Ok..
Now I'd like to palpate around your abdomen to check everything is fine...is that ok?
Ok..... Gonna start pressing here on the top center, any pain there?...people with reflux or heart burn tend to have pain around that area...
Nothing? Good.
Now pressing here on the right side...no pain?
Good.
Any pain or tenderness here on the lower area?....no?..good
Now pressing here on the left side.
(You feel a small-medium mass like 2 in big on that area and get concerned)
(Concerned) Hmmmmm.....hmmmm....
(Concerned) Any pain when I press here?
(Rethoric concerned) No?
Hmmm..
I'm gonna press a little deeper...
(Concerned) No pain when I press deeper?
Hmmmm
(Rethoric) What's wrong?
(Talking while feeling around) I'm feeling something here....
Feels like a small mass, a bit hard....
(Thinking out loud) It feels a bit irregular..hmmm
If you have any discomfort I need you to tell me please..
(She starts to stress and hyperventilate)
(Comforting) Hey hey hey, easy ok?
We don't know yet what it is... It may aswell be something simple.
Easy, I need you to calm down...
You're breathing to fast and that's gonna make you dizzy....
Deep breaths.....breath with me...in.....and out......in.....and out .....
That's it.....
(Professional) I'm gonna palpate one more time, I need you to stay calm please.
(Thinking out loud) Hmmmmm...ok.
Let's get back to the desk so we can discuss the next step.
(Wait a sec)
(Back at the desk)
(Calming her) Now I'd like to get you an ultrasound...
(She panics) Don't panic .. it's a painless procedure... And from there we'll know what's next ok?
(Rethoric) What could it be?
I don't want to jump into conclusions yet.
(Nice comforting worried) Just try to stay calm please.
Let me write you a prescription...
(Reverb thoughts concerned) I'm really worried about her...I do not like at all how that mass feels.
(Reverb feeling sorry for her) She looks so worried and no wonder....
(Reverb) Maybe I could get her that ultrasound after my last patient... I'm so tired though....I was supposed to go home and relax a bit. But poor lady..
(Rethoric) (Seeth) Curse your oversized heart (insert asmrtist name), ugh! Alright....
(End of Reverb)
(Thinking) Ummmm....
(Being nice) Look, I have only one more patient after you... If you'd like to wait... I could take you to the ultrasound room after and get the procedure done...
(Rethoric) Is it late for me?
(Lying to be nice) Nah, I was gonna do some paperwork after, but I can always do it tomorrow, so don't worry.
(Comforting) Hey, look at me....worrying is not gonna help... It could still be something benign..... so try to stay calm please?
Thanks.
(Calling your assistant) Anna?!
She's gonna wait in the waiting room until after the next patient.....
Could you please give her a tea with some honey?
Thanks.
Oh and, send in the last patient please.
(Talking to the patient again) Drink it please...the honey will prevent your pressure from falling after all that stress.
Alright.
(Voice fades away) Come in please....Hi, I'm doctor (insert asmrtist name).....

2024.05.17 06:37 kelosane Help: My USB devices fail when starting Diablo 4

Hello,
Whenever i start Diablo 4, game pauses for a second and i lose audio, my device is no longer recognized.
Then after a few minute the game freezes again, and then both my keyboard and mouse fail.
I’ve reinstalled the game, updated mobo and graphics drivers. I turned off any LED RGB for my computer, killed all associated programs with mouse and keyboard.
I set all my settings to low in game. Ive basically tried to do everything that’s suggested in online posts on Reddit, the Diablo forums, and Microsoft’s website. I’m completely at a loss. It happens as soon as I load into the character screen, and then whenever I open the map or enter a new area, everything else starts to fail. And then I have to reboot the computer. I was working fine before seasons 1 and 2.
Also my game makes a like of popping and clicking sounds before it fails

2024.05.17 06:20 TimmyToldYou Protip for buggy/laggy loot-all-nearby screen: Just Flick It.

TLDR at the bottom, looking back I got pretty sidetracked here. It's a way to get loot-all-nearby menu to pop up instantly, every single time, 100% success rate.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this anywhere and I don't see other people whipping their torsos around like Gmod characters in events, so in case most people don't know about it here goes:
Sometimes I'll run into an issue where I'll highlight a dead enemy and it doesn't give me the loot-all-nearby option, even though I'm staring at a radiation rumbles worth of ash piles still crackling with my Tesla's lightning and glowing gold at me mockingly as I try to loot them remotely.
Or sometimes it will give me the option, but when I press the button nothing will happen. Pressing it a few times sometimes makes it work, sometimes the whole game lags for a moment while it ponders whether to actually let me use this feature or not, and then gives up and does nothing.
So in the long tradition of Bethesda fans, I started troubleshooting. Step one: Do the thing again.
So I'd walk away and come back in a second, which worked some of the time. Problem fixed, not ideal, but fixed.
So I started walking away and coming back when it happened. But over time and being the high APM caffeine addled fuck I am, I started doing it faster and faster, and the funny thing is that it started working more and more consistently.
And so I give you: The Flick.
It works 100% of the time. Since I started doing this I've gotten the loot-all-nearby screen to pop up instantly, every time, no loading or lag or anything, no matter how batshit insane the scenario. 16 players at eviction notice, with two guys using two shot fatmen in what I can only assume was an attempt to grief the event or crash the server? Got my three stars that day boys, through the screams of the other people trying to see through their crispy corneas for long enough to find the nearest dead mutant.
TLDR people start here:
The trick to the flick is to get the body you're starting the loot from off your screen completely, then bringing your camera back in a snap and pressing the loot-all key the instant your cursor slides onto the model.
Before starting this post I timed myself doing it and generally the maneuver takes about a quarter second, now that it's fully in muscle memory for me. The trick stops working nearly as consistently if the model is on your screen for more than a half second before you press the loot all key.
So you walk up to the ghoul on the ground, you press the button, and it doesn't pop up the literal instant you press it? Or maybe it just says transfer, not nearby. Swing your head away and back (think: swinging hair out of your face, a flick and quick return) and press it again. Boom, before the key can come back up on your keyboard you're looking at the loot of everything nearby.
I imagine it's something to do with the game getting distracted trying to render the creature and figure out the physics of it's ragdoll while you're trying to open a fairly taxing menu, but the real trick is pressing the button the INSTANT it's back on your screen. Once you're doing it as a reflex (I honestly started doing it this fast out of frustration, and then realized it's the only way it worked) it will work every single time, instantly, guaranteed.
If you're about to call me a crazy person in the comments, I encourage you to go try it. It works every single time.
Also, if everyone's wondering what I'm talking about because they've never had issues with it working the first time smoothly, I'd like to hear about that as well.
Do other people know about this? Am I actually crazy and this isn't a problem for anyone else?

2024.05.17 03:55 DeepFriedThinker Modal behaves differently inside a component than in the parent screen.

I'm racking my brain trying to figure this out and could use some feedback. The gist is that I have two modals that consist of a single input. When you dismiss modal 1 even with the keyboard active and input in focus, it closes with one tap as desired.
But when you try to dismiss modal 2 with the keyboard/input active, it takes two taps. One to blur off the input/dismiss keyboard, and the next to actually close the modal as intended. I don't understand why the second modal takes 2 taps.
My only theory is that the hierarchy is playing the difference. Modal 1 is in the Screen component itself, high up in the component hierarchy.
Modal 2 is inside a component, which is inside another component. I wonder if this somehow plays a factor.
Other than where they are located within the component tree, the modals are near identical. From the way they are called, to the parameters associated. The Inputs are near identical too. I've combed this over to see if I'm somehow implementing them differently or if there's a parameter missing, but they're pretty much the same.
Here is a the screen component. This modal works as expected with a single press Canceling or Ok'ing.
But the second modal lives inside and then inside another component called I didn't include the code for them but can if needed. I am hoping someone already knows this quick from past experience and can direct me down the right path based on the description.
Thanks for reading.

2024.05.17 03:25 ScreamingPion Chekov's Gun Pt 260 (or why we need to get Gege's ass now)

So yeah, Gojo is back. Ever since it happened I said "death is final, the cat wouldn't bring him back" but he's back.
Or is he? Because I think there's a plot point that actually tells us what this "Gojo" likely is.

Flashback to 223
Here it is: before Gakuganji killed Yaga, the former learned how to create a perfect cursed corpse. On the same page, it's used as evidence that Gakuganji has changed:

That's a scary look
At the time, we interpreted this to mean that Gakuganji was coming around to Gojo's mentality, but now I don't think that's the case. My guess is that Gakuganji wanted Gojo dead so that he could create a Gojo cursed corpse. After all, the elders hated Gojo and realized that if he decided to do something, they couldn't stop him. Gakuganji says as much far earlier:

Back in ch 60
Gojo is the strongest - wouldn't it be easier if they could turn him into a puppet who fights for them directly? And that's the theory really: we know for a fact that Gakuganji can create a Panda-esque cursed corpse, but it simply hasn't happened yet - the damn cat doesn't sprinkle in details like these without some kind of payoff, and so it's entirely the "revived" Gojo is a cursed corpse.
Speculation time! We know that Panda has to be stabilized with two other cores, which for him were Gorilla and Triceratops. If the advanced cursed corpse requires three cores to stabilize it, then we have three characters who recently died who could contribute - Gojo, Kashimo, and Higuruma. Each was stated to be a prodigy in their time, and we got full breakdowns for their ability with little payoff for either of the latter ones. My guess before the next chapter: We've got some berserk fusion of those three here to whoop ass and motivate the start of the merger.

2024.05.17 02:39 BlocksMcChopplyn Discord is the only Android app that screws with text input and voice dictation

I often use voice dictation because I'm done with my thought, and I don't want to tediously type it out on a wretchedly slow virtual keyboard. I do this in most apps to avoid that awful input bandwidth constraint.
However, for some unknown reason, in the Discord app, it will reliably, consistently screw up my voice dictation, and all I'm using is the same Google keyboard speech to text as everywhere else. Odd keyboard lagging and missed inputs are also not uncommon, sometimes acting as though I have held a key longer than I have so the shift-character of that key appears, even after my thumb has left the keyboard.
I'll even watch it correctly transcribe what I said, and then at the last second switch everything around and even insert words that I never said. Dunno what the hell is going on behind the scenes, or what Discord is doing to screw with this otherwise serviceable functionality, but it is borderline infuriating, if not outright. No one likes to be misinterpreted, yet this is what Discord does all the time.
I have resorted to jumping into another app, having it transcribe what I'm saying, select all, cut, jumping back to Discord, and pasting it just so I don't have to wrestle with whatever the fuck is going on under the hood with this nonsense.
So, this exclusive to me, or is anyone else noticed this icepick-to-the-eyeball-deserving behavior in the Discord Android app? If any developers are reading this, what the hell are you doing to mess up what no other app does? Is it an extra "fuck you" layer for the user or what?

2024.05.17 00:55 a55_Goblin420 Do you consider Lee top 10?

So context behind this, scrolling through my feeds, found a streamer currently streaming Tekken 8, dude is a TG Panda, ok cool kudos for using Panda, the bears are having a rough time in this game so I'm thinking this should be interesting to watch (lol). Everytime something didn't go his way or he mashed when it wasn't his turn, he just started bitching about it and complained about people doing 1 and dones, but if he lost he'd one and done block people (lol.)
So one particular fight, he's fighting Lee, and I don't use Lee, but from what I see, Lee's whole thing is dependent on baiting you into a counter or you mashing when it's not your turn, basically he's one of the few characters if he's whooping your ass, you earned/deserve it. He can't really force aggression unless he controls the momentum, but the only way he can control the momentum is if the former happens. So anyways he fighting TGS Lee, Lee giving him business, and he bitches "I'm not rematching, everybody wanna use these top 10 characters".
So I point "hey Lee isn't top 10, you're just mashing when it's not your turn". His chat starts laying into me, and I specifically point out "he's not even top 15". They not having it because I probably use some carry characters that's why I'm defending him. They ask my chars and rank, okay, Jin (Kishin), Asuka (Fujin), Nina (Battle Ruler), Bryan and King (Mighty Ruler), so they're like yeah you use brain dead chars. 1 I'm not gonna stop using chars I been using since I was in kindergarten/elementary (T2-3-T1-4-5) to make my opponents more comfortable, 2 Asuka is just Lee with tiddies but weaker, 3 I got my chars to their ranks before the buffs. Only one on there I'd consider OP is King. At the same time, this is one of the worst iterations of King (and Asuka). But imo, I feel like people are just mad because "wah, I can't mash buttons in the tekken they said they made it easier to mash".

2024.05.17 00:20 Isabellthewolf Any Touhou artists who draws "sussy" arts?

My favorite artist, Aki Chimaki, sometimes draws Sumireko with her thighs exposed in fanarts. Maybe she/he has some sort of fetish of that, I think? Wish I could ask that but can't because the artist only speaks japanese.... Oh and don't forget about Koissa, that artist draws big breasted Touhou characters, and she/he even drew a very sussy Sumi fanart (which I can remember is the one that has her riding on a panda car).

2024.05.16 23:28 luiggel remapping Bluetooth keyboard keys

remapping Bluetooth keyboard keys
First of all, I wasn't sure of what the title should be so I left as that.
Now the problem: I bought this cheap rebranded Bluetooth Chinese keyboard and it works sufficient for my need, although there are some keys I would like to remap. is there any way to remap them keys somehow? (I am not talking about changing the layout for my language or etc because I already did that.)
I bought this keyboard to use with my Samsung Galaxy M51 android 12 one ui 4.1 core, and it works great no problems, but I have some issues:
  • 1 I would want to know what keys and macros are mapped to what since it says to press shift + space*** or ***ctrl + space*** or ***left alt + space*** to change the layout but the shortcut is actually ***crtl + shift in that respective order, the other way around doesn't change. (at least on android mode, I haven't tested iOS mode and I could not find the keyboard on this windows laptop so I am not sure about the other modes)
  • 2 Change the combining keys for these ^~` which instead write these ˆ˜´ˋ** they work fine to produce **â ã á à etc but sometimes I want to write markdown text, be it on discord, here on reddit etc but doesn't work since the unicode character is different ˋhighlight textˋ or ˜˜strikethrough˜˜
  • 3 The fn*** key is to the left of ***crtl and it annoys me because the natural movement of the pinky is to press the last key so I would change what that key does and then later change the key cap itself since both are same size and dimentions.
  • 4 The first row which goes from esc*** all the way to ***f12*** functions are swapped and instead do the second function and to use ***f(1-12) or esc you have to press fn key together.
I have seen that there is a shortcut to that but I didn't found what is it and also when pressing the ' single apostrophe I will often press esc (because it's right above) which since the behavior is swapped, it sends me to home instead.
I have already tried the app keyboard remap helper demo (something) and it helps with this but since I use swiftkey, it isn't ideal to have to change keyboards all the time.
Also the problem is not the layout since I already changed to Portuguese(br) which on the phone is written as brazilian(qwerty) but rather just those keys are different.

2024.05.16 21:52 OrwellianWiress Valley of the Sentries

You know what the best part is about playing Engineer in Team Fortress 2? You get to watch how angry everyone gets when they get shot by your sentry guns. Me and my best friend Jose both main Engineer, and can confirm that the best way to spend your Friday nights after school is to set up a sentry and get ready for the rage. There’s been matches where we haven’t even used our actual guns even once, but racked up lots of kills just because of the sentries.
One day Jose called me up with an idea that was either going to be the stupidest thing ever or the smartest thing ever. He wanted to fill an entire team with only Engineers and watch the chaos unfold. I couldn’t stop laughing at the mental image in my head and agreed with the plan. I joined a Discord server with everyone else on the team.
I convinced my cousin Matthew to join, and he in turn brought along his little brother Zack. According to Matthew, it took quite a bit of convincing because Zack was a Scout main who couldn’t stand Engineers. He eventually got through to his little brother by promising him a Steam gift card. I even got their dad Graham to play along (yes, I have an uncle who plays TF2. How cool is that?). Jose enlisted his friends, who turned into friends of friends and soon enough we had a team of 16 Engineers.
To say that we caused chaos that night was an absolute understatement. As soon as we joined the game the text chat was flooded with messages from the other team wondering what the hell was going on. And they only got worse from that point on. We surrounded our control points with a ring of sentries that people just kept running into. I saw keyboard smashes and heard other teen boys’ voices crack in rage and many, many words that I personally don’t care to repeat here.
The most skilled Engineer was this guy named Craig, who was a friend of one of Jose’s friends. Not only was he the main person capturing the enemy control points with some very strategically placed teleporters, but he was also really friendly and encouraging to all of us. I didn’t know what he looked like, but from his voice it sounded like he was in his early 20s.
Me and Craig started to chat more and more on Discord. He was a super nice guy who was also really fun to talk with. He took time out of his day to teach me how to be an even better Engineer player. Whenever someone started dissing me in the voice chat, he firmly told them to leave me alone. After seeing my fair share of toxicity in the TF2 community, it was nice to know that this complete stranger was looking out for me.
This whole Team Engineer thing became a weekly tradition for us on Friday nights. It was something everyone could look forward to after work or school. One time after everyone logged off and said their goodbyes, Craig sent a message a few hours later in our Discord:
“You guys gotta check this out. I found the weirdest server ever. It’s literally Engineer heaven. Meet me at vl_sentry.”
I was still in the mood to play and I could stay up late tonight, so I hopped back on TF2. I saw that Jose, Graham and this other girl we played with named Lynn were also online. I found vl_sentry and connected to the server. The map was called Valley of the Sentries and it was created by Valve.
It took my computer a little bit to process the map, and it took me even longer than that to process what I was seeing.
The map looked like a chessboard with 3D-sculpted hills. The sky was just pure white. Not even white walls, just the color white. Every square had a blue sentry on it and there were about 4 or 5 other Engineers jumping around, spamming their voice lines. That’s when I realized that we were the only ones there, and there was no red team.
“Hey Sean, glad you could make it :)” Craig said in the text chat. “What the hell is this?” I asked. He told me that this was a server that one of his friends showed him. The friend said he was introduced to the map by a friend of his who knew someone who worked at Valve. Craig then went on to explain that apparently Valley of the Sentries was an experiment to test the limits of the sentry guns and their effect on the servers. Rumor has it that the map is infinite.
“Check this out.” said Jose. He switched to Heavy and immediately got shot down. All of the sentries turned towards him. There were so many of them that it made the game lag a ton. He respawned as Engineer and the sentries just kept on spinning.
“WTF?” I typed. “We tried it with all the other classes and it does the same thing.” said Craig. “It ignores Engineers, but shoots everyone else.” Lynn added. “And that’s why we’re the best class. Engineer power!” Graham joked.
I asked what would happen if you were to play as Spy and sap one of the sentries. “I tried, but you gotta have a godly reaction time to activate it.” said Jose. As soon as he said “godly reaction time”, I knew I had to try it out just for the bragging rights.
Respawn. Shot down. Respawn. Shot down. Respawn. Shot down.
Yeah, I did not have a godly reaction time. The others kept spamming “lol” in the chat each time I failed. I got annoyed pretty quickly and stopped trying. Then out of nowhere, all the sentries turned away from me and started firing at someone. I turned around and all five of us were still standing there. I looked at the top bar that shows how many characters were in the game. There were only five Engineers and they were all on the same team. So what the hell were the sentries targeting?
I started to walk in the direction that the sentries were facing and Jose followed me too. We moved really slow, not only because of the sentries on every square but also the uphill climbs. It was just us two in the chat for a while, talking about seeing each other back at school on Monday while we made our slow walk across the map. Then our conversation was interrupted by a chat message from Lynn.
“Why is there a man in the sky?”
Me and Jose tried to get to Lynn to see what she was talking about as fast as possible, but we moved like snails. To get back to the spawn point, we both switched classes, instantly died and respawned as Engineers. I don’t think we respawned in the same place we started from. I don’t even know where we respawned. There were no landmarks or notable things to help you find your way. Just hills, valleys, and sentries.
I asked Lynn where she was and she just told me she was with Graham and Craig. Only that wasn’t very helpful because we didn’t know where they were either. We stood there, stumped for a minute and a half until Jose got an idea. He said that she should just switch classes and respawn, because then all of the sentries would point toward her and we could follow them all the way back to her. She made the switch, got shot down, and we instantly knew where to find her.
We finally got close enough to kind of make out the vague shape of a few Engineers over the non-existent horizon. Me and Jose were relieved, until all the sentries pointed to our right. I swiveled around and saw them open fire on…nothing. I checked with Jose to see if he caught something I didn’t, but he also didn’t see what they were shooting at. I decided that it wasn’t that important and continued to walk towards the rest of the group.
We met up with Lynn, Craig and Graham, disappointed that we made that trek all for nothing. Even though we were all together now, it just felt so lonely. The only sound coming from my computer was the constant beeping of the sentries in perfect sync. I don’t know why, but it made me so uneasy. I attempted to break the silence by going to the voice lines and playing the iconic Engineer “Nope” soundbite. It echoed across the checkered land with no response.
It was about 12:30 AM at this point and I was starting to feel more and more unsettled with each passing minute. There was just something about this black and white world that I felt creeped out by. Before Craig invited us to come over, there was no one else on the server. Who would even want to play on this map, anyways? It’s so unfairly balanced that only one class can survive. Movement speed was super slow, and you can’t even really do anything except watch the sentries turn and turn and turn forever. It was like hypnosis, except I didn’t feel sleepy or relaxed at all.
Speaking of being sleepy, Jose said he was getting tired and was going to be logging off. We all said goodbye to him and continued chatting amongst ourselves. It sounds stupid, but my stomach dropped when I saw the fifth Engineer portrait disappear. One less person to talk to. One less person to keep myself from wondering what else was out here. I could have sworn that after he left, the beeping got louder.
“So is this map actually infinite?” asked Graham. “Only one way to find out.” Craig said. “Just keep on walking and see if it goes on forever.” “Why don’t you just fire a shotgun and see how far it goes?” Lynn suggested.
I took out the shotgun and fired. The bullet flew off into the white distance and disappeared.
Then I heard the distinct sound of someone getting shot.
A message appeared in the chat, from someone named sentry_check_pattern.
“sentry_check_pattern: stop that”
Once again I looked at the top bar. It just showed four blue Engineers. That meant we were the only ones on the server. Or so we thought.
The chat was flooded with our confusion, almost as if everyone realized at the same time that something wasn’t right. None of us moved an inch.
“What even is this place?” I asked, hoping that the mysterious user would provide me with an answer. “Must be Engineer heaven.” said Graham.
“sentry_check_pattern: more like my personal hell”
This was the moment that made me trust my intuition. I knew there was a reason why I found this map so creepy. I wanted to leave the server, but there was just one thing keeping me back- my own curiosity. My wish to unveil the mysteries of the Valley of the Sentries.
“Okay this is really freaking me out. See ya guys.” said Lynn before she left the server. The fourth Engineer’s portrait disappeared from the top bar.
No no no, please. Please don’t go. Don’t leave us. I wouldn’t want to be alone here. Now there’s just three of us, and I really hope that number doesn’t go down anymore. When the others were here, this was just a weird TF2 map that we were exploring together as friends. And now it feels like we’re trapped in this infinite world, but we aren’t alone. The only problem is we don’t know what else is here.
I shuddered, imagining Craig and Graham ditching me and leaving me all alone in the Valley of the Sentries. Just me and whoever- no, whatever was talking to us.
“sentry_check_pattern: you don’t know how good you have it
you can leave at any time
i can’t”
This terrified me. What a horrible thought, never being able to leave this place. But of course, no one could really be trapped here. It’s a Team Fortress 2 server. You can just exit the game and shut your computer. No one could be trapped in a video game.
But if you think about it, aren’t the characters themselves trapped? They can’t leave the game. They’re characters. They don’t even know they’re in a game. You or the computer controls all their actions. They don’t have free will. And if you’re bad at the game, they’ll just keep dying over and over again.
Wait, why was I thinking about this?
I carefully considered what I wanted to say next in the chat. Whatever I said could either answer all my burning questions or leave me asking more. But sentry_check_pattern talked first.
“sentry_check_pattern: i was made for one purpose
to die over and over again”
Oh my god. It was like this person read my mind and knew exactly what I was thinking about. Who or what was I talking to? I turned all the way around to make sure that no one else was there. It was just the two blue Engineers standing behind me. Just Graham and Craig. And that man with the checkered skin.
Startled, I asked my friends if they saw what I saw. It took them a second, but both of them confirmed that yes, there was indeed something else there. A basic male model with the same chessboard texture as the map. Graham immediately started to shoot at him. Nothing. It just went straight through him.
“sentry_check_pattern: you can’t kill what’s already been killed millions of times over
valve made that mistake too
every company has that one failed project they don’t talk about
and that’s me”
Whoever was behind this weird account was talking crazy. The Team Fortress 2 developers were very open about everything like fixing their glitches and bugs. They always posted things on the official blog about the development process. They’re so open about their failures and always promise to fix them.
“Stop with the weird stuff. We just wanted to know what the deal is with this server and the weird chess guy. Do you know anything about it?” Graham asked in the text chat.
“sentry_check_pattern: know anything?
you’re not very bright, graham
none of you are
do you not realize where you are and what you’re talking to”
Something about the way sentry_check_pattern used Graham’s name gave me goosebumps. I didn’t know what I was talking to. I didn’t even think I wanted to know at this point.
“sentry_check_pattern: this is one of valve’s test servers
i’m the texture they use to check if the sentries work
read between the lines”
“Quiet, NPC.” Craig said. I laughed a little bit to fight off the awkward tension. Then I reminded myself that I was talking to a video game character, no- not even a character. A blank character model. A texture.
“sentry_check_pattern: just because i’m a character model doesn’t mean i can’t feel pain
open fire”
The sentries all swiveled around to face the man and shot at him. He kept falling to the ground, turning white and standing back up in the same position.
“sentry_check_pattern: cease fire”
All of the sentries stopped shooting and just went back to spinning around, their beeps echoing in the air.
“sentry_check_pattern: ready to see what i’ve been through for over a decade?
open fire”
Before any of us could react, the sentries opened fire on Craig all at once. He kept dying, but he didn’t explode the way you’re supposed to when you die in TF2. He just dropped to the floor, turned white, and respawned over and over again. There was no death scream. I tried to type something else in the chat but the game lagged so much that my typing just ended up as a string of random letters that meant nothing. Craig tried to type something out too. It just ended up as “wwwwwwwwwwthisishowitfeelswwwwwwwww” Then the game crashed and my computer shut down.
I hyperventilated. Then I laughed at myself for hyperventilating over a stupid computer game. It was Team Fortress 2 for god’s sake. That game with all the memes and goofy jokes. Stupid, stupid Sean. Scared of a character model. Jose would never let me live it down. I just laughed and laughed to push the fear away.
I closed my laptop and took out my phone to rewatch all of my favorite TF2 animations for the millionth time. As if they weren’t already the funniest things in the world, I forced myself to laugh even harder than usual. Every time I saw the Engineer, I couldn’t help but look at the reflection in his goggles. The reflection of an endless map of black and white squares.
Thankfully, nothing bad happened to my game, account or laptop. The next day I just went right back to playing and enjoying the rage coming from all the people who ran right into my sentries.
Team Engineer was still a thing, but it was never really the same. We played together a lot less frequently. It was still a lot of fun, but I felt a change that I couldn’t really describe.
We found out that Craig had lost all progress on his TF2 account. Everyone gifted him all his favorite cosmetics and we all pooled our money together to get him a Steam gift card. He video called us, crying at our kindness. It was the first time I ever even saw his face. He was a lot older than most of us. If I had to guess an age, I’d say somewhere around 30. He had black bangs and was wearing a TF2 shirt. His room was dark, only lit by his glowing computer screen. He thanked us repeatedly and even tried to return the gift card, but we were all adamant that he should keep it.
Speaking of Craig, we still kept in touch but he didn’t talk to me as much anymore. Any time I tried to ask him about vl_sentry, he ignored me for a few days.
The other day, I got some postcards from my cousin Matthew. He was very academic and happened to be studying at a private high school about 9 hours away from where I live. All of his postcards were pictures of him making funny faces with all his friends at favorite school activities like robotics, debate team, and chess club.
I looked at the chess club photo closely. Matthew and his friends were standing in front of a chessboard with a mirror on the wall. And for a split second, I could have sworn that the chessboard looked different in the mirror. It looked warped, like it wasn’t a flat board anymore. Like it almost had hills and valleys. No, it couldn’t be. I rubbed my eyes. There, in the mirror was a checkered man. I knew it was there. I swear on my mother’s life that there was another person in that photo. And then it was gone. Maybe the picture was just printed badly. But I had to make sure my eyes were right.
So I brought the postcard to school with me and I showed Jose. I asked him if he saw the checkered man in the mirror. He said no. But that wasn’t the answer I wanted to hear. That was the answer I hoped I wouldn’t hear. I asked him again. He said no again. Then I asked him another time. He said I was being annoying. So I asked another one of my friends. He said no too. So I moved on to yet another friend. He told me to stop.
I angrily clutched the postcard in my hand, crumpling it. I was the only one that saw what was really there. Everyone else was lying to me. They refused to see the truth.
I screamed and ripped up the postcard. I stomped on its pieces. I rubbed them in the dirt for good measure.
Somewhere in the distance, I heard the sound of electronics beeping.
It rang in my ears.
It was weirdly comforting to me.
You can leave the Valley of the Sentries. But the valley will never leave you.

2024.05.16 21:26 No_Grapefruit7950 Burnout Recovery Advice

Hi,
TLDR: looking for advice for 'deep recovery' from autistic burnout, venting/rambling a bit about my situation
Sorry for the long post, my life hasn't been great the last few years and I'm hoping that if I describe it in detail then someone might have some advice for where to go next, or be able to tell me if I'm missing something obvious. I've bolded the bits where I'm asking for advice.
I (24F) am not officially diagnosed with aspergers or anything autism related, but am recovering from what I suspect is autistic burnout. I had symptoms of moderate to severe CFS last summeautumn but am slowly recovering from it without any major crashes. When I read the description of autistic burnout I identified with it completely. The loss of skills and extremely reduced tolerance to stimulus on top of the fatigue is something I have really struggled to describe or explain to people (not helped by the loss of skills i.e. barely being able to put a sentence together to speak to someone). I've read Strong Female Character and Aspergirls, and am currently reading Unmasking Autism. I haven't completely self-diagnosed yet, but I am researching it and think it's a strong possibility. The first half of Aspergirls describes my childhood pretty well. I was often called a 'Highly Sensitive Person' and Unmasking Autism states that the creator of this term has said that the people she was talking about have since been diagnosed with ASD. Even if I am not Autistic, I often find Autistic people more relatable and easier to understand that non-Autistic people and find their advice for rest, sensory issues etc helpful to me. I am not looking for a diagnosis or diagnostic advice.
I currently feel like I'm starting my life over again, and I'd really appreciate advice on how to build a sustainable life when I have a lower tolerance for stimulus and find communicating more tiring than many people.
Context/life story: I'm from the UK. I have a degree in maths, was feeling burnt out and was going to take a gap year before doing a masters, but the pandemic happened and I moved back into my childhood bedroom. I couldn't face being stuck there again with no 'escape plan' so one afternoon I (impusively) signed up for a masters at a not so great uni and didn't do well academically. At the time I was considering a PhD and going into pure maths research. I don't have the grades to get funding for this. By the end of the masters my boyfriend had broken up with me and I'd lost touch with all my friends. The only person I 'spoke' to was my mother and even she'd say this was pretty one sided. In my dissertation presentation on zoom, I read a pre-written script and answered 'I don't know' to all the questions because I hadn't spoken to anyone in months and couldn't hold a conversation with the cashier in the supermarket about the weather let alone one with an academic about advanced maths. I scraped a pass.
After this was over (October 2021), I really felt like I needed a break. I decided I was going to have 2022 'off'. I was going to rest, get a job that didn't use my brain, move to a city so I wasn't so isolated (I live in Wales) and recover and rebuild before figuring out what I wanted to do next. I couldn't figure out how to move to a city without getting a professional job. I asked some family for advice but they didn't know either. I didn't know how to get any job near the town where I live. It's very cliquey, I don't know anyone who's got a job through a formal application process, it's always through a family or friend connection, and I'd lost touch with everyone by this point, my mother doesn't have any contacts and the rest of my family lives in another country. I get filtered out of formal applications because I'm overqualified and bad at lying. Spring 2022 I got sick of it and applied for about 5 software dev jobs. I got one basically without being interviewed. In hindsight that was the first red flag.
I moved to a city 5 hours away. I won't go into the details of the job but it wasn't great. I discovered they had a vrey high turnover for a small company. The new hires previous to me had lasted weeks, one only lasted days, before going on stress leave. I did 10 months. I signed a rental agreement for a year and was too exhausted to search for another job to pay for it. It was full time in the office because I was a junior. I had one friend who lived 3 hours away and every time we met up it was me driving to them, and my sibling needed a lot of help with uni and job stuff so I drove the 5 hours back home most other weekends. I did too much, but I didn't know how to not do too much. Within a few months of each other, my dog died, my grandad died and it was the 10 year anniversary of my dads death. I never had a bad performance review and I quit due to 'personal reasons'. The final straw for me was when I noticed in the office I was physically shaking from exhaustion when I reached for my mouse or keyboard. I think I must have been running on adrenaline or something because it was 2 months before I properly crashed. In this time I moved my stuff back to my childhood bedroom, and that is where I am now. July last year was when I crashed and thought I had CFS etc.
I would say I'm mostly recovered from the physical fatigue. I walk 10k+ steps a day and this helps me mentally. I know I should do more restorative yoga, I see this more like stretchy meditation than exercise and it also helps mentally. I used to enjoy powerlifting and I've tried a few times recently but I think I need to take that super slowly because I get carried away and it wipes me out for a few days after. Skills-wise, I am able to read books again, albeit books I've read before or childrens books. I sometimes have 'high energy' days when I'll read more non-fiction and try to plan my recovery. I am not up for doing technical computer stuff. Things I used to know still go completely over my head. Sensory-wise, I struggle having the big light on for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. I try to reduce screen time. I barely watch tv. I've deleted most social media so I only check instagram once or twice a week on my laptop, and I go on reddit or youtube if I'm looking for something in particular. I try not to listen to too much music otherwise the brain fog gets worse, but that's hard becuase it's one of the few things I feel connects me with the outside world at the moment. When family come round and there are group conversations, I cannot follow anything that's going on and it may as well be white noise. I haven't been in a public space for a while, so I don't know how I am with the background noise. I've reconnected with school friends and am going out for dinner soon, so I'll find out then. I will also find out how I hold up in conversation.
In the next few weeks I plan on looking for part time work. Any advice on suitable jobs would be welcome. I also start a compassion focused therapy group next week, after going to the doctors about this in october of last year *sigh*. I plan on working part time and living at home while figuring out what I want from a career and how to build a life. I wish I could just move to London but it's so expensive.
I see pure maths as closer to the arts than the sciences, and also enjoy fiction books (esp fantasy) and music. I played classical piano and violin/viola as a child to a reasonably high standard. I have no interest in computers really, it was just a job thats related to my degree and that I was good at. As a child I wanted to be a writer or a musician, but as a teen I prioritised moving out of my hometown and told myself that was something I didn't need to study and could work on in my free time. I had a 'maths brain' so it was easy enough to coast this path while I was grieving. I have learnt that the first things I let slide when I am stressed or busy, are the things I am interested in. Then it's chores, then my physical health. I have no idea when to stop or when to say no people. Not because I want them to like me, simply because saying no doesn't occur to me until after I've done it. I also don't notice when I am stressed or doing too much. I have gotten better at that the last few months.
In future, I think I need to prioritise my interests more than I have. I think I tried to 'fix' the stress from the things I 'had' to do with exercise and being very physically healthy. I think the solution is to prioritise working on my interests and passions. The thing I've found most helpful is keeping a diary. I started this last July. I'm now writing music and learning how to produce using Ableton. It's going very slowly but it's going. I've found creating things is better for me mentally than consuming them, even if I'm doing that using a screen. I am interested in the links between maths and music (group theory, geometry, topology etc), and plan to read more about this when I'm able. It would be a dream come true if I could somehow work self-employed doing this one day. I can't imagine working full time in an office again. It exhausts me too much to be able to do anything in my free time. I don't know how demanding it would be to work remotely full-time. I'm lucky I can live with family and work part-time for the forseeable future. There is no rush. I am 24.
Any advice on building a career your interested in, moving to a new city, managing stress and having healthy relationships would be very welcome. Or anything else you think it would be useful to hear.

2024.05.16 21:02 Kitchen-Beginning-47 Names of these tropes? I saw them all in the animated movie Rango.

A character ends up in a "tough guy bar", they all notice by the tough customers and it looks like trouble. So they put on an act bluff them all into thinking they're even tougher. Also seen in Kung Fu Panda 4.
"Messy action fight scene". It's an action scene where two sides are battling each other (in Rango when he and friends are escaping the gophers and bats who are shooting and throwing dynamites at them), but it's "messy" with random shots of attacks, characters being hit, explosions etc just for the sake of showing the audience action. It is hard to get an idea of what is actually happening.
The hero has to leave town. Maybe they've been exposed as a fraud or are going to be exposed (think of the rooster in Chicken Run). Of course, they return to resolve the main conflict in the finale.
edit, one more. When a movie refuses to kill anyone (often because it's aimed at kids). Even when you think a character is dead they are later shown to have survived. The Indian bird is shot with a mini-gun and falls through a roof so he's definitely dead right? Nope, he is later seen sitting in a chair with a sling.

2024.05.16 18:40 Bacbi Is there a UI locked mod out yet?

Kind of fell off after act 1, started to play again. But something I wish the game had from day one was a controller+ mouse option. So that I could have the Mouse and keyboard layout. Use the mouse to click on the menus, inventory, and in combat it's mouse all the way. It would be nice to have the feature where I could walk around using the controller and hotkey the main things I use while exploring. I generally like the feeling of being in direct control over the character and camera. But even though it's great that the game can easily switch back and forth unlikes DOS2 which forces you to pick one or the other. I've had the game crash cause it doesn't seem to like that I'll quickly want to use the mouse to scroll back and scan over the areas or move something in the inventory before going back. If it doesn't crash it can also freeze for like 20 seconds unsure if it has crashed or not until the audio cuts out. I tried to search and see if such a mod was out there that would lock the menu and still let the controller function. But I could not find one and thought maybe I just wasn't searching for the right words, so has there been any progress on this front yet?

2024.05.16 17:38 Sheeker389 [5e][Online] Desert exploration filling in

A player left the game, and we have 3 players now, a Bat Rogue (Swashbuckler), a Fighter (Champion), and a custom class caster. Need a 4th player. If you are interested in this after reading it all send me a message.
When: Saturdays 5 PM CEST/GMT+2
Level: 6 (one level up so far)
Character creation: 27 point buy, all classes and specs, anthropomorphic races (PDF for that will provided), 2000 gold to spend as you see fit (though depending on how we decide you come in you may get the items later, note that there will be no place to buy this stuff, so don't hoard it). You can also choose a clan instead of a race. Clans are major political players and provide their own stats and features.
Story: The players were heading into the desert to discover relics of a proposed ancient civilization. Your character would come in around there. Currently there's only really two ways for you to come in. Either you're also an explorer who came here, but are now stuck due to the desert taking its toll, or you were with some pirates and were left in this ancient abandoned city, or maybe you escaped from them, but you know where their cove is. The setting is heavily inspired by ATLA and Kung Fu Panda, with some other stuff mixed in. Very fantasy Chinese (though only one PC actually has a Chinese name, go figure).

2024.05.16 15:55 Rhamni LibreOffice Writer keeps switching languages on me

Edit: SOLVED!
Libre Office version 24.2.1.2. (X86_64), Windows 10, .odt files.
I have a Swedish laptop, so I keep my keyboard set to the default Swedish layout, even though I use Libre Office exclusively in English. Since my laptop rebooted the other day after a Windows update it's impossible to keep Writer in English. I change the language to English, type one symbol, and it immedaitely switches back to Swedish after inputting that one character correctly. I can switch a written text to English for spelling purposes, of course, but I write dialogue, and the god damn quotation marks don't distinguish between open quote and end quote with the Swedish layout, so I have to manually fix that for every sentence or I end up with two end quote marks. I had the same problem with Open Office a couple months back, again after a Windows update, which prompted me to make the switch to Libre. But now the same problem has followed me here. I hate everything. How do I fix this? Switching the keyboard layout to English solves the issue, but it moves a bunch of buttons around and makes it a nightmare to find seldom used symbols like £$#, and removes the åäö characters, which I sometimes need when not working in English.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, with both LibreOffice and Open Office the problem sprung into being immediately after a random Windows update.
