Mitrofa Zoldyck

2024.01.07 15:43 Marrchist Mitrofa Zoldyck

A woman named Mitrofa is my fanmade head of the Zoldyck family. She's between Zeno and Maha in age, so she could be Killua’s great-grandmother. She's infamous in the underworld, mainly for her reputation as the world's most dangerous poisoner, poisoning around 150 influential people from around the world in her lifetime, including some very capable hunters.
She looks like and old woman of small stature, with light purple eyes, which she keeps closed or squinted most of the time, and has grey hair tied in a simple knotted hairstyle with a decorative needle. She mostly wears simple black clothes with long sleeves, and occasionally a tracksuit. Her personality is reflected in her hatsu and the nature of her job, but she is kind to her grandkids, like a normal grandma.

Mitrofa’s Hatsu: Sinister Eye of Wisteria

SPECIALIZATION
Her hatsu works in such way that after obtaining the target's DNA in whatever form, she can produce a lethal poison capable of killing only that person. She can extract a person's DNA from breath, fingerprints, saliva, hair, skin, etc. All she needs is a minimal sample. When she activates the ability in someone's vicinity, their DNA will be drawn to Mitrofa without their knowledge.
For example, all her target has to do is breathe through their mouth once and their genetic information will reach her. Specifically, she stores all the DNA she's acquired in her left eye, which she then extracts with her tears. But the intangible DNA is only ever attracted to her from something that leaves the target's body, i.e. a fallen hair, a fingerprint, sweat, etc.
Once the DNA is obtained, she can produce the poison. She makes it by first applying neutral drops on her left eye, so that the poison has no hint of salt, and then just drops one of her tears into a mini vial where she keeps it. She can then extract DNA from this tear whenever she wants, which acts as a deadly poison, only for the target whose DNA it is made from. It is then automatically attracted to that target when the ability is activated near them, and can enter their blood system on any direct contact with their body or via inhalation.
How long does the poison take effect, depends on how much DNA Mitrofa has released to its target. The effect can be almost instantaneous with large amounts, or take up to a week with small amounts. Meanwhile, the poison cannot normally be detected from blood tests, as it blends perfectly with the target's DNA, but that doesn't apply to nen, which is somehow theoretically able to detect and disarm it in time.
Changing her appearance is crucial to her work. Like Illumi, she can completely change her entire appearance except for her eyes for a period of 5 hours, without the use of needles, and wears lenses with a different eye appearance. The only weapon she carries is her decorative needle in her hair, unless she's impersonating someone else. She can fight with it very effectively by being able to block someone's nen, much like acupuncture.
She will do this by quickly stabbing a part of someone's body where they have focused all their nen (Ko), or a part of the body where they only have some nen distributed (Ryu). Until the target removes the needle from the spot, they can't concentrate nen in that spot. Mitrofa can fight with all different weapons, even improvised ones, and is proficient in all other assassin techniques and methods. She is also completely immune to all types of poison.
Notes: - Mitrofa is inspired by two real female assassins, who were both grannies: Baba Anujka and Tamara Mitrofanovna Samsonova - Hatsu name in japanese: Fuji no Fukitsume (Sinister because it means “left” in latin, and wisteria is a purple poisonous flower) - Also if the hatsu could be done without using specialization, let me know

2021.10.03 06:17 Buggi_San [Red Rising] Just finished Red Rising : Presumptions + Discussion + Predictions

Hi everyone !! I just read Red Rising and it was a BLOODYDAMN JOURNEY !! I have some thoughts I want to get out :
Presumptions :
I didn't know anything about the series, except that is good, and that the story is set in Mars, with people who are divided by colors and each color has a specific role in the society and that the MC's wife dies for some rebellion. I was recommended to try the audio book instead of the physical book
Discussion :
First off, I am glad I didn't pick the audio book because : - The story was so captivating that I couldn't have kept pace with the audio book - Darrow is a kid still and it was easier to believe so, with my own internal voice than the audio book narrator, who is obviously an adult
I am going to intersperse my thoughts, with some highlights from the book
The beginning felt a bit slow ... I HATE WORLDS THAT ARE HOT !! But the gradual.world building was keeping me hooked.
Gamma gets the Laurel.
Guessed this ... Ofc MC wants something and works hard for it, he is destined not to get it !!
She traces the haemanthus blossom along my collarbone in a sudden show of tenderness. She is a creature of moods. The flower is the same color as the wedding band on her finger.
Just an interesting way to tell us that Darrow's hair was also red ... I am not sure we are told this before
We see the sky and I believed the story about Mars still being settled like a schmuck. I thought he might escape the underground world, but still work in the above ground world (which is quite unfit to live). I am not sure about them being married already, but it was so sad to see Darrow saying that a thirty year old is considered an old person for Reds.
Then Eo dies. THEN DARROW IS KILLED, WTF ?? It was such a good twist early on. I caught the feed being distorted when Eo dies, and just assumed some propaganda going on.
We are lesser creatures in the grand scheme of things, but without us men of war, no one except those of Lykos would hear Eo’s song. Without our rough hands, the dreams of the pure hearts would never be built
I loved this para for some reason, this made me better grasp the futility of the world they are living in ...
“Now you understand,” Dancer says. “We are deceived.” Beyond the glass sprawls a city.
I felt as betrayed as Darrow, they weren't even doing something actually vital, they could be living better lives all this time
I though him becoming a Gold would be about contact lenses and hair colors, I didn't actually think Golds are bioengineered
A Gold wouldn’t have done that. But as I sit with Matteo on the shuttle as it ferries us back home, I remember the girl’s face. She blushed too.
Darrow is going to like her and she is going to die isn't she ? (Thank god that didn't happen)
All my people sing of are memories. And so I will remember this death. It will burden me as it does not burden my fellow students—I must not let that change. I must not become like them. I’ll remember that every sin, every death, every sacrifice, is for freedom.
After Julian is killed ... I hope Darrow retains his humanity, and what the hell is this system, if no one is safe ?
No, they follow us because Cassius is as charismatic as the sun and, in his light, the shadow I cast looks like it knows what it’s doing. It doesn’t. It, like me, was born in a mine.
I am glad that he has a new tribe now, but I am afraid that Cassius is going to find out. Also, it bothers me more now that they aren't allowed to kill the other students after the Passage, but a lot are ready to !! Also, the speech given at the Institute about the other colors being better (red dexterity, green technical acumen) are noticed by the Golds and are ensuring that the progeny are also trained to ensure the status quo, it is darkly brilliant
“ Mars . A gruesome deity. You’re fit for this, aren’t you lot? Barbarity? Past centuries. Dark ages.” I don’t have a mind to be lectured by an Aureate about morality
The irony, that the supposedly superior Golds are fighting like this ...Also is Minerva better than the other Gold houses ?
I turn to Tamara with a reasonable smile and tell her the truth. “I want Minerva off my back so I can come here and beat you, sure.” And then win the stupid game and destroy your civilization, please.
Darrow's internal monologue is rarely so sarcastic, the last few words made me chuckle
The thing I love about the Proctors is that, they are made to have some attributes related to the deity of their house (For eg : Mercury being quick on foot), and they physically come to watch the game from Olympus, it reminds me so much of Greek gods.
I won Primus and they never gave it to me. Now I know why the Jackal will win. They are getting rid of his competition.
Brilliant foreshadowing with the Laurel in the beginning, it isn't even meritocratic within Golds
Even when I am ruining their Society at the vanguard of a billion screaming Reds, they will tell their children that Darrow of Mars once clapped them on the shoulder and paid them a compliment.
I hope this does happen and, Darrow getting whipped for Tactus seems overkill, but it will most definitely work
What makes the faceless boy so frightening? Is he tall? Lean? Thick? Fast? Ugly? And what gives him his reputation, his name? No one seems to know.
This made me wonder if the Jackal is real, but I realised Augustus is real, so his son is probably too and there would be no point in the Proctors just being impartial
“Well, fine. If you must know, if there’s simply no other way of going about it: she is the Jackal’s twin sister.”
This damn twist, I thought for a hot minute the Institute storyline will go into the next book.
Overall, loved the greeko-roman influence in this world, it reminded me of some of my favourite series/books - Percy Jackson and the Greek-Roman influence, the whole ins - Hunger Games and showing both the worst and best of humanity in the games - Brave New World, the OG bioengineered world, with different classes having different roles
I loved the story, the scifi elements were adequate enough to make it futuristic, but I wish we had more of it. Can't wait to read the next book
Predictions :
I am honestly stumped at where the story is going to lead ... I know the overall plan is to free the Reds and basically break this unjust system.
Darrow joined Augustus, I am not happy with this decision, even though it is best for the overall plan. I thought he was going to end with the honorable Mars patron guy. I know that another hunger games style match is not going to happen, so the next book is probably going to be about politics even more ...
The oath Darrow makes about being a sword to Augustus makes me worry that he is going to be a pawn now
I want to know more about Darrow's uncle and the Sons of Ares
Request :
I am extremely poor at imagining, and are there any non spoilery art of Darrow, Eo, Mustang and other Darrow's friends that I can be pointed to ?
Thank you for reading !! Hope you guys enjoyed my thoughts !!

[Excerpt]
Millions in the US & around the world have gotten their vaccines. More & more every single day. President Biden is methodically, deliberately, & transparently getting the country open again. Following the science, & common sense.
Feedback on Cenacle 114
[Excerpt]
AbandonView’s photos haunt me in the most beautiful way; flowers of time that the buzzings of people haven’t quite left behind.
(Sam Knot)
From the ElectroLounge Forums: Writers’ Notebooks
[Excerpt]
A microscope slide of a slice of soul.
Why does thought bubble?
Prose poems are the transgender athletes of literature.
(Nathan D. Horowitz)
Notes from New England: Dream Raps, Volume Ten by Raymond Soulard, Jr.
[Excerpt]
Now, admittedly, we’re surrounded by cops, & probably the army, & who-knows-who-others. Been accused of bringing about the end of the world. Well, you could say that. I mean, the world ends every day for someone, for many someones. In different kinds of ways. Well, people die. Well, people move, change jobs, gain & lose lovers, discover their favorite book for the rest of their years. Pain, joy, oh, it’s always ending & beginning! End of the world?
Poetry by Tamara Miles
[Excerpt]
Every scented flavor drips,
Rose rising, petals dip,
Teacup, sweet, milk to soften,
Glad as dawn.
Notes on Consciousness by Jimmy Heffernan:
[Excerpt] The consciousness of an individual human (or animal) can be likened to a vortex in a river. The river itself is the undivided, flowing awareness-substance making up the greater reality itself, and the whirlpool is a relatively (but not totally) autonomous swirling concentration of conscious experience.
Poetry by Judih Haggai
[Excerpt]
dear ancestors
it’s all led up to this
thank you for your help
Rivers of the Mind (A Novel) by Timothy Vilgiate
[Excerpt]
“OK. Listen, I know the Mushrooms come off a little strong, but here’s what happened. I was talking to Mick and I could tell something was off about him. I know you’ve seen it for a while. He’s been getting you the wrong food, every day. It turns out he’s cheating on Cassandra, embezzling money from the bank, and using his position to take revenge on people. I tried to talk some sense into him, but he wouldn’t listen. He almost killed me. I pushed him out of my mind, and part of him got stuck. It was his ability to fake—he had this whole construct of a decent person in his mind, and because it was so disconnected from who he really is, it got dislodged, and stuck in my body. Now I’m trapped outside.”
Many Musics (Poetry) by Raymond Soulard, Jr.:
[Excerpt]
“Tall. Thin. Wooden. White Birch?
My hands unclench in my lap,
fall wide open, soft, soft,
will you help me know wherefrom
the many worlds? Will you help me
know myself? Will you be gentle
to my green youth, hard against my fears?”
Saint Paul on the Aguarico (Travel Journal) by Nathan D. Horowitz
[Excerpt]
Tree grapes aren’t grapes, but completely different, though they grow in bunches and are spherical. Each has a big pit inside, which is discarded, and the black skin is sour and tough, so it’s discarded too, but between those elements is a thick layer of the smoothest, sweetest pulp imaginable, the flavor between citrus and almond. You have to eat them immediately, because if they’re off the tree for an hour, you can taste the difference, and after two hours, you might as well throw them away. Thus, they have no commercial value.
Poetry by Tom Sheehan
[Excerpt] It’ll begin itself by spitting.
There’s a law against that.
It’ll spit anyway, mostly off
Monadnock, hunchbacked
over all, and up the valley
from Route 101 barreling
all that way from Nashua.
What Permaculture Teaches Us About Psychedelics [Prose] by Leia Friedman
[Excerpt]
Permaculture can even help us better navigate psychedelics. Just as permaculture takes into account the whole, complex system, the psychedelic experience manifests through multiple, often seemingly unrelated domains. Psychedelics can bring people together to help us recognize our similarities and connectedness—to see ourselves and our surroundings as part of one interrelated system.
Poetry by Martina Newberry:
[Excerpt]
My friend Patrick called them the 3 o’clock demons. He meant 3 a.m.,
and even if yours come at 2 a.m. or 4:14 a.m., it doesn’t matter, they’re still from hell,
and they’re still irresistible.
Bags End Book #17: The Myth of the 4 Famous Travelers! Part 2 by Algernon Beagle
[Excerpt]
It began with mah dear friend Princess Chrisakah of Imagianna finding a long coat with many colored in one of her Castle’s Occasional Rooms. Then it traipsed through Bags End, mah already strange homeland, a couple of times to that nice Creature Common place, & even into Dreamland 4or an episode, be4ore coming back to Bags End again, & finally again to Crissy’s Castle & into her Secret Room full of its cushions & purple light.
Poetry by Colin James:
[Excerpt] The lenses to your glasses
are as thick as Coke bottles.
Having heard that one before,
you stood staring unresponsively
past my twitching left shoulder.
Thank You for the Opportunity (Fiction) by Ace Boggess:
[Excerpt]
The matron stepped forward to greet the new arrivals. She wore all black despite the sunnynoontime atmosphere—shoes, socks, skirt above the knees, blouse pressed tightly to her cartoonishcurves. Allison, read the name above her left breast, letters orange as if sewn in fire. Her hair also wasblack, as were her eyes.
The Turkey (Fiction) by Charlie Beyer:
[Excerpt] And, indeed, the older man mopping the floor was not the typical specimen of the men around the campus, who were young, bright-eyed, slim, and fashionably dressed. Here she had to edge by a graying fifty-something, partially shaved, wearing a greasy ponytail tied with a fat red rubber band. An extra fifty sagging pounds straining the buttons of his faded checkered Madras shirt.
Poetry by Sam Knot
[Excerpt] these words are a mirroring of
the otherwise unreflective
nature of a creature
who has no creator
but the role of the whole
is not the rolling of dice
and so emerges choice
as being never not there -
so this is what it means right?
The Dead (Classic Fiction) by James Joyce
[Excerpt]
“Ladies and Gentlemen, A new generation is growing up in our midst, a generation actuated by new ideas and new principles. It is serious and enthusiastic for these new ideas and its enthusiasm, even when it is misdirected, is, I believe, in the main sincere. But we are living in a skeptical and, if I may use the phrase, a thought-tormented age: and sometimes I fear that this new generation, educated or hypereducated as it is, will lack those qualities of humanity, of hospitality, of kindly humor which belonged to an older day. Listening tonight to the names of all those great singers of the past it seemed to me, I must confess, that we were living in a less spacious age. Those days might, without exaggeration, be called spacious days: and if they are gone beyond recall, let us hope, at least, that in gatherings such as this we shall still speak of them with pride and affection, still cherish in our hearts the memory of those dead and gone great ones whose fame the world will not willingly let die.”
Labyrinthine [a new fixtion] by Raymond Soulard, Jr.:
[Excerpt]
Read how, on the Beach of Many Worlds below, Abe the Ancient Sea Turtle heard the story of Francisco the painter, one of Asoya Donna’s beloved & long-lost Brothers, & how he traveled with a friend who posed as a White Birch for him to render on canvas, a very particular one he could not otherwise find, & how Francisco believed that this painting, once completed, would help the Brothers reunite.

2016.12.05 13:03 Awesome_Cake [Spoilers] Found some stuff in the source of the Westworld site

I visited the delosincorporated site after the episode and found it strange I couldn't click on anything but the Admin box after talking to Aden. I clicked view source and was getting ready to comb the code when I realized there was a series of emails just sitting there in the body and title code. Found some other stuff too, but that will be below the emails.

These glitches have been going on for weeks. I don’t trust this slapdash trashcan server any more than the morons that created it, and if I lose one more narrative tree to these blackouts, I will brick this system myself. Habte, Saron Narrative (WW)

Unbelievable. How did this get past legal? This is literally the same artwork that stupid (but gifted) fanboy schmuck was peddling on the internet. Tamsin, our piracy screeners picked up a fanboy-created image for Westworld popping up. This kid’s already sold 200 of them, and this is a pretty cut-and-dry case of copyright infringement. If you guys want to pursue legal action, I can spin it and reduce the PR blowback. A thing to consider – we’ve got a huge event coming up on October 9, so it’s not the ideal time to have bad press. We’d be in the news cycle for twice as long … especially since the kid’s poster is actually pretty good. I very much like the way the landscape seems to come from the eye, like it’s both an input and an output. Ladipo, Christian Corporate Communications, Westworld

Hi Elsie, I’ve noticed a pattern with repaired hosts received from Livestock Management that I now believe is worth your attention. Many Body Shop techs are neglecting to properly reboot hosts to diagnostic mode, which in of itself is not of great consequence, but it does begin to chip away at our time the more it happens. I understand that the pace of getting hosts prepped and ready to go back into rotation sometimes means that things slip through the cracks, but this should not be one of those things. I imagine they would have an issue if Intake didn’t bother to fully wipe the hosts down before receiving them, so let’s be respectful of the process. Li, Henry Host Behavior (WW)

Hello, all - As you know, the Annual Costume Department giveaway is coming up. I know we all look forward to this event, and many of us enjoy sending home keepsakes to our families and friends. However – I do not believe we have addressed the institutional issues that led to last year’s riot, and I would like to suggest we do not hold the giveaway this year. It would be more appropriate if this event were cancelled by QA and not the Costume Department, because I do think many people will be disappointed. I’m writing to file an official complaint against the goons in the Props Department who have tried to initiate a “prank war” with Host Manufacturing. As you know, we are their direct rivals in the Delos Rugby Intramural League, and they’re trying to “kick the season off with a bang.” Last night between the hours of 4 am and 5 am, they poured blue dye into the host manufacturing liquid, which meant that my team has had to spend the entire day cleaning out the tanks. I cannot even begin to describe how backed up we are with work today. I attempted to speak to Cesar Donovan in Props, and his response was, “Blue looks more badass anyway.” Please handle, as I don’t have the patience or bandwidth. Thank you in advance. Hello, all – In case you are unaware (though I can’t imagine why you would be) – it is not absolutely necessary for Intake to cut up and discard all host costumes that have been damaged parkside. The Costume Department is perfectly capable of repairing clothes that have only received minor damage, and they can even patch most bullet holes. Therefore, please only incinerate clothing that is absolutely beyond reasonable repair. Otherwise, we can all save costs by being more frugal and resourceful. With the current round of budget cuts, it would behoove us all to work together in this. I understand we’re all pressed for time, but this is important. SUBJECT: A Message from Westworld IT Security
To: Westworld Guests
From: Delos Destinations
Team: You may have heard media reports about recent attempts to breach IT security around Westworld’s digital properties and servers. As employees, we would like to make sure you have the facts about what happened and the steps we all need to take to protect sensitive Delos information. In the past couple weeks, users of online digital message boards have been looking closely at the source code behind Westworld’s digital destinations, particularly DiscoverWestworld.com, looking for details about our operations. Thankfully, those users have gleaned little, but we know they are continually watching. Considering this and the fact that code can get messy, it’s imperative all Westworld staffers take the time to comb through all public-facing code and remove any sensitive materials or links that may be inadvertently embedded within. The company does not want to take chances with exposing proprietary information. If you have any questions, contact our Data Security & Protection team. As always, please keep this information and request confidential. Westworld IT Security Delos Destinations Leaked Fall Storylines

Delos Strategy group has the usual concerns about hitting their quadrants, reach, appeal, etc. We're confident they'll sign off. While this is not approved or public yet, the management team thought it pertinent to begin sharing with WW employees as early as possible to grow awareness of the exciting changes coming. This is confidential and for internal review ONLY. Take a look at what's in the works here. Best regards, Westworld Guest Relations Delos Destinations
This is the other stuff I found.
WelcomeThe Delos Security Panel is the largely autonomous software responsible for monitoring activity both in the park and within the Westworld corporate offices.Efficient and comprehensive, the Security Panel flags potentially anomalous behavior and sends it to the attention of surveillance technicians in the Control Room, allocating information on anas-needed basis.
WelcomeBefore we begin the training simulation, we have examined your records and it appears that a number of events under incident #9358504 [extended intimacy violation, Behavior Dept] occurred under your supervision. While individual events in isolation may not have signaled wrongdoing,a failure of pattern recognition allowed this situation to escalate from minor misconduct to major offense.
As a senior surveillance technician, it is your responsibility to ensure the Security Panel sensitivity is calibrated appropriately, filtering comms, messages and audiovisual feeds without over whelming the system with noise and irrelevant information. security panel diagnostics status flagged potential misconduct incidents in mesa hub:45
ADDITIONAL SURVEILLANCE PERSONNEL REQUIRED. All increased surveillance technician staffing must first be approved by QA lead.
Westworld Guest Simulation Welcome to the Delos Quality Assurance training module. Westworld is a complex circus of activity, and only a high-powered computational system could successfully traverse the high wire act of balancing extreme thrills and guest safety. This autonomous mechanism is a hallmark of the Westworld experience—guests are able to remain immersed and unguarded as ultimately few activities in the park are observed by human eyes.
Westworld Guest Simulation As part of your employment at Westworld, you are required to complete a series of simulations addressing issues outside Security Panel jurisdiction, arising from strife within guest parties. The Security Panel’s proprietary logistic software seamlessly works with host programming to ensure guest groups cross paths as little as possible —but there is no fully accounting for the human factor of intra-group conflict.
