Help choosing parts. (CPU, RAM and Motherboard)

2024.05.17 12:46 Substantial_Bottle33 Help choosing parts. (CPU, RAM and Motherboard)

First of all, thank you for helping me, so I had planned to update my PC for a more current one
My current PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7sXgWt
I was planning to upgrade to an Intel i7-14700K, with obviously a new motherboard and DDR5 Ram, more or less I have an idea of what I'm going to buy.
I don't know if I forgot any essential components on the PC that I haven't named or listed. Likewise, with this I should have everything ready and functional. Thanks again and sorry for my broken English or if i put this in a wrong tag

2024.05.17 10:33 homomemeboi yes I know people don’t like it when people ask this, and I don’t like asking it, but can I hackintosh this relic?

I have an old HP Compaq 6200 laying around, and whilst I do have my current and custom built PC with Sonoma booting, I do want some way of messing with 32 bit applications in old macOS versions. I don’t mind it being a really old version because the main reason I want to hackintosh it is becaue is want to explore old macOS.
So, is this even realistic? Here’s the specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 B75 GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4200 and the motherboard is just the motherboard it came with. It’s the HP Compaq 6200 Microtower if that helps any.
If it does work, should I use Clover or OpenCore? I don’t mind messing with it in order to get it to work.

2024.05.17 08:36 stockinvest-us Tech Analysis: NVDA closes at $943.59 (-0.29%), bullish momentum with upside potential📈. Fundamental outlook cautious, monitor for corrections. Mixed market sentiment ahead of earnings💼.

Technical Analysis
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) closed at $943.59 on May 16, 2024, marking a slight decline of 0.29% (-$2.71) for the day. Despite this daily dip, NVDA remains strong above its 50-day ($881.32) and 200-day ($606.97) moving averages, illustrating sustained upward momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI14) at 64 indicates a moderately overbought condition but not excessively so, suggesting further upside potential before hitting resistance levels.
The Average True Range (ATR) is relatively high at 3.84, pointing towards significant volatility. Current support is placed at $875.28 and resistance at $946.30. Given the near breach of the resistance level and with MACD at 12.34 (indicating bullish momentum), NVDA might test higher levels soon. However, the stop-loss is calculated at $906.32 to manage downside risk.
Fundamental Analysis
NVDA's high P/E ratio of 79.16 reflects strong investor optimism about future earnings growth. Current EPS stands at $11.92, indicative of a profitable core business. The upcoming earnings announcement on May 22, 2024, is a crucial event as it will provide concrete insights into their financial health, particularly in their data center and AI segments.
However, relative valuations present nuanced challenges. The discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation of $542.33 suggests the stock may be overvalued in the context of intrinsic value, which indicates a significant discrepancy compared to the current market price of $943.59. This divergence necessitates cautious monitoring of any corrections in the stock price.
Market Sentiment and News Impact
Recent news has painted a mixed picture. Stanley Druckenmiller’s reduced stake in NVDA may cast doubt on some bullish beliefs. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s planned competition with AMD against NVDA in AI processors could pressure market sentiment. Conversely, positive anticipation surrounds the forthcoming earnings announcement, which might offset these concerns.
Analyst consensus is bullish overall, with strong support from 36 buy ratings against a minimal number of sell or hold opinions. Price targets vary widely, with a median of $700, indicating a significant range of views on future potential.
Short-term Outlook
For the next trading day (May 17, 2024), NVDA may see an upward movement towards $946.30 if bullish momentum continues past the current support levels. However, given the recent pullback and competition news, cautious trading might dominate, potentially resulting in a sideways movement.
Looking at the week ahead, the key event is the earnings report on May 22. Positive results, especially in data center revenue and new product announcements, could trigger a rally. Conversely, any failure to meet or exceed expectations could exert downward pressure.
Intrinsic Value and Long-term Investment Potential
Despite high short-term volatility, NVDA’s fundamentals reflect strong long-term potential, driven by robust earnings from AI and data center markets. The intrinsic value, as derived from the DCF model, signals possible overvaluation in the current market, suggesting the need for a potential price correction.
However, the company’s innovation strength and leading market position in GPU technology support a positive trajectory over the long term. NVIDIA's strategic partnerships and expansion into quantum computing and AI bolster its growth narrative.
Overall Evaluation
Based on the technical and fundamental analysis, NVDA appears to be a 'Hold' candidate. While curren [...]

2024.05.17 08:06 Peripherial E14 Gen 5 or T14 Gen 4?

My little sister is going to college this year, she's going to study computer science, So I want to buy her a new laptop hoping that it'll last the whole 4/5 years of college.
There's currently a sale in my local Lenovo website and I've configured the the following models:
T14 Gen 4 = USD 1,060 (tax included)
E14 Gen 5 = USD 782 (tax included)
I had a T480 for the longest time (and it is still chugging along as it's my sister's current laptop) before I updated to a Dell 7430, so, yeah, I'm well aware of the build quality on the T series, however I have 0 experience with the E series.
I know the T14 has better specs, but I'm not sure my sister will actually need that much horse power (I'm not going to downgrade the specs because they are currently dirt cheap, so I might as well along with it).
My budget is USD 1,050, but if I can save some bucks and my sister will not notice much of a change from going with the E14 instead of the T14... Well, I'd prefer that, however if the price difference means a significant downgrade in quality... Well, I might as well just buy the T14.
Edit: Please try to remember that prices outside of the US are usually higher, so, the prices of both models are actually decent compared to their usual pricing.

2024.05.17 05:15 Dragulish (SPOILERS) Story gives gameplay purpose

again, SPOILERS- This is a semi rant with my honest opinion on the story as someone who has 1 rated as my favorite game of all time, this isn't random hate and I honestly want to put words to how I felt.
There needs to be repeatable quests that change like culling requests and dungeoning for specific items, it's weird to me that the notice board was removed in favor of pawn quests it feels disjointed and non-immersive.
I love the game, truly, but story wise and compared to 1, the identity doesn't hit the same. The narrative of being the "true ruler" actually lacks so much closeness to the world that the original had, you were a fisherman/woman in a coastal village who was known by everyone in town, they seemed like they actually grew up with you, some of them watched you grow up, quina is a childhood friend and not some stranger who is seemingly pushed into falling for you with zero chemistry and for no reason
In 2 you're already Arisen, what's more that means you're king/queen but there is an imposter on the throne (throne in an absolute gigantic chamber, almost as though a boss battle takes place there) so you're not recognized as the ruler and also seemingly not recognized at all, by anyone except the pawns and they only recognize you as the Arisen, the world revolves so much around the Arisen that who You are actually doesn't even matter, you can't be an adventurer trying to make a buck to pay rent and feed his party, you're the Arisen! You should be in a castle, you can't be a bounty hunter who hunts down bandits for fame amd glory, you're the Arisen you have a rightful place as a ruler, you can't be an expert dungeoner who makes sure to stock up on oil because the last thing they want is to be in a dark cavern, you're the Arisen you have to get in, get out and go take the throne back, in 1 you were pushed with the mystery of what it means to even be Arisen and if the world is even worth saving, the flaws of humanity and the desire to return one's own heart
2 really just feels like vermund is the end goal, the game makes a joke in 1 about choosing becoming ruler as the joke but 2 puts so much emphasis on it that if you were to remove the whole "the Arisen becomes the ruler that's just our way" aspect lf the world building it would feel empty of purpose
We only end up fighting Gregori because of our quest to investigate the godsway and stop phaesus, he is secondary to the plot of vermund.
I love this game to death but if I stare too long at its story, I can see the cracks.

Looking at these right now on amazon. Learned a hard lesson about gpu fitment after I bought (and returned) a XFX SWFT 6700xt that didnt fit at 305mm because I have a thermaltake core v1 case that fits up to a 285mm GPU. Most dual fan setups are what I can fit which limit some of my options.
Right now I have: Ryzen 5600G w/ stock fan Gigabyte A520I 2x8 Corsair 3200mhz Ram Samsung Evo plus 500GB Apevia Galaxy 650W PSU

2024.05.16 17:36 SuccessfulYogurt6295 RTX 4060 laptop vs GTX 1070 Desktop

Not a topic for discussion. Just info if someone also considers a similar upgrade

TL,DR> Bought a new laptop and compared its performance to my pc.
Data for Elden Ring with unlocked fps mod, tested in-game in a cave environment:
PC with GTX 1070, ryzen 3700x - 95 fps, CPU 32 degrees and (forgot)% load, GPU 60 degrees and 87% load.
Laptop with RTX 4060, amd 7845hx - 115fps, CPU 80 degrees and 20% load, GPU 73 degrees and 70% load.

Will look towards downvolting the laptop as well since the pc was already very well undervolted. And these 12 cores/24 threads are pretty hot even if not much is running.

2024.05.16 08:17 notshadeatall Hi, question about what GPU to choose for upgrading my system.

Haudy all. I have been rocking my 1070 for quite a while now and I am thinking about upgrading it for something else. I was comparing some alternatives, but I always settled on 4070, since my PSU is only 650W I didn't find any of the AMD cards suitable for that power output, which would also be comparable to 4070 in terms of performance. I really don't want to upgrade the power supply too, because my budget is kinda limited so I am trying to choose the best option I can reach right now. Also, I am 1080p player, i don't really care that much about the size of Vram as other people who play 1440p or 4k. So I wanted to ask for help, if there would be any better card to choose or if I should stick with the 4070.
Sincere thanks for help.

2024.05.16 06:55 Capable_Yam_7827 What is upgradable on my laptop?

I have a Legion Slim 5 AMD Ryzen 7 7840 HS and RTX 4060, and was curious about these specs and how they stack up for playing games. I do not know a lot about this technical stuff so I was curious where the CPU and GPU compare to the rest of the gaming laptop market (especially whats up with AMD Ryzen and intel debate).
Was also curious if any on my laptop is upgradable. i understand I can buy another hard drive to increase my storage but is there anything I can do to increase my RAM as well? What would increasing RAM mean for when I play games as well? Is there anything else thats not inherent to the system that would allow me to optimize this thing? I love this laptop and really want to see it as optimized as I can!

2024.05.16 05:04 Ethan_2122 Are Nvidia's Exclusive Features Worth the Investment?

In my quest to build a new PC, I've narrowed down my GPU options to the 7800 XT (~£490), the 7900 GRE (£540), and the 4070 Super (~£600). Among them, the Radeon cards boast 16 GB VRAM, whereas the 4070 Super offers 12 GB. Should the discrepancy in VRAM be a significant factor in my decision-making process?
My primary inquiry revolves around whether Nvidia's exclusive features, such as DLSS versus FSR, Framegen, etc., justify the higher price tag. While benchmarks suggest that the 7800 XT slightly underperforms compared to the other two, which exhibit almost comparable performance, it appears that these exclusive features could be the decisive factor.
Considering that I'll primarily use this PC for gaming at 1440p and don't foresee heavy use of ray tracing, the allure of these features becomes paramount.
Furthermore, as someone who has been loyal to Nvidia GPUs for a decade (currently using a 970), I'm intrigued by the prospect of transitioning to an AMD GPU. However, I've heard murmurs about stability issues with the 7000 series. Any insights into this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

2024.05.16 02:27 wild-daisy-42 Asus zenbook UM3406 thoughts

I am currently using a 2017 macbook air and looking for a new laptop. I found this ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3406) on Walmart for 799$. It has a lower display (1920x1200) when compared to the $999 version on the asus (2880x1800) site. Want to gather thoughts from others about this laptop overall especially if anyone has got one? My main use is for everyday browsing and for some software and coding too.

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), showing -5.29, aligns with the stock's recent bearish trend. The Average True Range (ATR) at 3.76 signifies substantial daily volatility, while the nearest support at $154.02 and resistance at $181.86 delineate critical price levels for potential movements.
For the next trading day (May 16, 2024), AMD is anticipated to consolidate within the $154.02 to $181.86 range. Given its current market dynamics and momentum, moderate price fluctuations can be expected.
Fundamental Analysis
AMD's current market capitalization stands at $258.08 billion, a testament to its substantial market presence. Despite strong performance, the company's Price to Earnings (PE) ratio of 234.81 highlights an overvaluation compared to industry norms. The earnings per share (EPS) of $0.68 underscores heightened investor expectations.
Recent news highlights AMD's challenges in scaling its market cap to Nvidia's level in the AI sector, despite its robust GPU capabilities. Insider trading alerts and recent strategic announcements could introduce volatility, yet these have spurred notable interest and optimism among traders.
The upcoming earnings announcement on August 6, 2024, holds potential for pivotal financial insights, influencing market sentiment.
Intrinsic Value & Long-term Investment Potential
Based on a discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation of $64.27, AMD appears significantly overvalued at its current price of $159.67. This divergence suggests that the stock price integrates high expectations of future growth not entirely supported by intrinsic fundamentals.
However, AMD's long-term investment potential remains appealing due to its robust position in the semiconductor industry, competitive innovations, and strategic maneuvers. Additionally, its leadership in GPUs might bolster sustainable growth, albeit clouded by competitive pressures from Nvidia and Intel.
Overall Evaluation
Considering both technical and fundamental analyses, AMD emerges as a 'Hold' candidate. The stock's immediate outlook reflects cautious optimism tempered by significant resistance levels and overvaluation concerns. Nonetheless, AMD's sustained innovation within the semiconductor space underpins its long-term viability.

As you can tell by the title, I have a bunch of parts listed for sale after recently parting out my pc/inventory. Everything has been cleaned and been well maintained. Items will come in their original boxes unless otherwise stated or buyer indicates they don't want them. I tried to go through recent posts to find comparable prices, but I am aware I could be wrongly pricing items and as such I am open to negotiations and offers. Buyer pays for the shipping.
Timestamps: https://imgur.com/a/HnbqMdh I have a:
Enthoo Pro II Case - local pickup (Orlando area) preferred, comes with all accessories and necessary screws (I cannot verify all of the extra screws are there but I tried to include them), $100
Intel 11700k and MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi Combo - I bought this here from another user, tested and verified to be working, the cpu didn't come with a box so it will be shipped already in the motherboard, includes wifi adapter and driver cd, no sata cables, $250
Intel 9100f and Gigabyte h310m Mobo Combo - Previously tested and working, has run 3 years without issue, includes stock cooler, however some of the pins appear to have been bent when removing the CPU, I have no idea if this impacts performance or not, and as such I am willing to send both for just the price of the CPU, $75
32gb 3600 Ripjaws DDR4 - tested and working, $50
16gb 3200 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 - tested and working, all leds light up, $35
Zotac Twin Fan 1660 + Bykski Waterblock - this card comes with both the waterblock and the regular air cooler, the waterblock is already installed and would have to be swapped, if you only want the waterblock I can leave out the air cooler, runs well and cool, $125
Fractal Liquid Freezer 2 360 AIO - I bought this from another user, has never been plugged in by me but it looks brand new, no box but screws and mounting plates are included, $80
Bykski ReservoiPump Combo - cleaned and maintained, runs quiet and smoothly, includes mounting brackets and screws, $100
Phanteks Glacier 140 Distribution Block - no cracks, small scratch on top, 3 fittings and rgb cable included, $100
Alphacool CPU block - includes AMD and Intel mounting options, doesn't leak and performs well, $20
Alphacool 240mm Radiator - no damage, no leaks, includes some screws, $40
Alphacool Eistation Pump/Reservoir Combo - No leaks, runs well, LED light came to me outside of the pump but it can be reinstalled (I never noticed the difference with or without it), $20
Bykski ARGB Hub - will go to whoever buys the first Bysksi product free of charge
EVGA 600W Bronze Power Supply - All cables included and no damage, has run for 3 years without issue, $40
Cooler Master Hyper 212 - a friend gave this to me, it has never been used, I believe all of the parts are there but I can not verify, $10
Molex to Sata Cables (x4) - $5
FebSmart Wifi Card - tested and working, includes driver disk and both mounting options, $5
Thermaltake Pure Plus 12 3 120mm Fan Kit - includes controller, fans, and screws; these were working when I last used them about 2 years ago, and I saw no reason to believe they would not work now, $25

Corsair SP120 RGB Pro Black Edition - includes 3 fans, controllers, and some screws, $30
