Sharing My Standing Desk Experiences: Tips for Those Considering a Purchase!

2024.05.17 11:14 MinuteMedium5833 Sharing My Standing Desk Experiences: Tips for Those Considering a Purchase!

I am quite a familiar user of standing desk (and ergonomic chair, too) and thought that maybe all the isssues and experiences I had with my standing desks as a long-time user can help those who are considering buying one:
  1. Never buy 1-motor standing desk, no matter how good its price is. Trust me on this as you will probably regret it shortly after 2-3 weeks of using it. First, 1-motor standing desk means weaker loading capacity. This will cause you trouble if you want to customize your desk. An average 1-motor standing desk can lift up to 100 - 150 lbs, but don't forget that this also includes your tabletop. A solid wood tabletop with the size 48''x24'' can weigh ~30 lbs already, not to mention all those stuff like monitor arm, 1-2 monitors and dozens of accessories on top of it (let's imagine you have a gaming monitor that's 34 inches wide, 2 sets of speakers, 1 CPU, keyboard, books, other decorations...ask yourself how long your 1-motor standing desk can survive with all these things). Apart from this, 1-motor standing desk also have high risk of causing uneven issue (because only 1-leg have the motor and the other doesn't) -> trust me, you don't want to buy a desk and plan to use it for 2-5 years, then constantly have to reach out to CS just because your standing desk has a silly problem)
  2. Invest in the frame, not the top: The most important part of a standing desk is its frame, not the top. The desk frame hosts all the technology inside it and directly affect 80% of your experiences. A deks frame that's considered good enough is one that is made of SPCC steel, can lift up to at least 200 Ibs. You should also check what's the max & min height of the desk frame to know if it's suit you or not. For me a good height range should be somewhere between 26'' to 53'' (some products in the market are now offering around 29'' to 52'', and for me it's okay but some of my friends said that with 29'' min height it's still too high for them). Also, normally after like 1-2 years, you might want to change your tabletop due to its decreased quality, or you just simply want to refresh your workspace. So you're gonna keep the frame and get rid of the old tabletop. That's why invest too much money on the tabletop in the beginning is not a wise choice to make.
  3. Choosing the right top: This can greatly vary depending on each user's preferences, but I believe most of the discussions would be about this thing: MDF or Solid wood. To summarize it: MDF is cheaper, lighter, and less affected by environmental changes (places where humidity is high can eventually affect the quality & finishing of solid wood furniture). In the meantime, solid wood top is heavier, sturdier and more aesthetically pleasing. Solid wood can come with different natural shapes and patterns if you a fan of these things. Also, there's one thing that lots of standing desk sellers or brands won't tell you, is that the shipping cost of solid wood top is quite pricey due to its weight. So if you plan to buy a solid wood, be aware that it's not that you are paying more for better quality, but sometimes you are paying more for shipping. I also asked some of my friends and colleagues about whether they like mdf or solid wood tabletop, and it's 50 50. But there's one thing I agree: people choosing solid wood top over mdf is not because of the finishing or quality but more about the looks and feels of it. As nowadays technologies allow standing desk makers to improve the finishing quality of their mdf top way better than before, and when it's out in the market it's difficult to pinpoint any imperfections on the quality (also, there's this thing called UV coating which is applied in the production of mdf wood top, the harder the UV coating is, the better the quality of the tabletop. you can search more on Google, I am not a technical expert so I will pass it here)
  4. Price: A 2-motor standing desk starts from $300 - $500 (Autonomous, Flexispot, Fezibo), or $600 - $800 (Ergonofis, Branch, Uplift), or above $1000 with some big brand names (HM/Fully, Secretlabs...). And it's really up to your budget, but for me it's not really worth investing in more than $1000 for a standing desk (I notice some brand like deskhaus sell their desk at $2000 which is crazy). I understand that higher price come higher quality, but please keep in mind this: will you actually use all of that crazy features and functions that go with that crazy price? For example, a $1000 desk frame (without top) is surely more sturdy than a $300-$400 one, and can lift up to 400 Ibs, but do you really need that capacity? For me, there are products that I just need them to be good enough and come with a fair price, and desk are one of them.
  5. Other things, keypad design, warranty...:. For some people, keypad design is a minor thing, as long as it functions well. But for me I have a different point of view. The interesting thing about the keypad are it's a small part of a standing desk but can significantly contribute to the overal feelings of user about the desk itself, depending on its design and how you interact with it. There a different types of keypad design in the market: Physical button; touchscreen (button or slide, like Ergonofis desks); and touchless (like the SmartDesk Levitate) Mine are physical button (from Autonomous), and it's alright. But I wish it has more cool features, like the touchscreen slider of Ergonofis or a integrating the keypad onto the desk top, like Secretlabs Magnus Pro. For me the important thing about the keypad is how cool/asthetic it looks, not its function. Because the memory presets and standing/sitting modes are way too basic to be considered, and almost all brands offer this so it's not a big concerns. But from the moment you interact with a cool, creative keypad design, you can immediately tell if you love that desk or not.
TL;DR: Go for 2-motor standing desk; invest money in the desk frame over the top; don't go for expensive standing desk (>$2000) unless you have to/or have budget; cool/creative keypad design can positively affect your overall experiences.

2024.05.17 08:35 Jaded_Being_1462 How do you feel about the English translation of LOTM

Until I started subtitling the audiobook, I never considered reading the English version of LOTM. To my surprise, the quality of the English translation seems somewhat 'disrespectful' to the original book. With the money Qidian made from it, they should have hired at least one English literature graduate, if not three English literature professors, to proofread it.
Even though I'm not a native English speaker, I couldn't resist the urge to translate some parts in my own way. One thing led to another, and now I have a brand new translation of Chapter One.
Now, I have a question for my fellow fans of LTOM:
Here is another thread of mine discussing subtitling LOTM's audiobooks: https://www.reddit.com/LordofTheMysteries/comments/1csz252/dramatized_audiobooks_with_english_subtitles/, in case you're interested.

Ouch!
Ow…ouch!
Ow…my head is killing me!
The fantastic yet surreal dream surrounded by whispering and murmuring shattered away instantly, Zhou Mingrui who was sound asleep felt an abrupt throbbing pain deep inside his head, as if his head were ruthlessly clubbed. No, it felt more like something sharp penetrated his temple, followed by twisting and stirring.
Feeling disoriented, Zhou Mingrui wanted to turn around, clutch his head, or sit up. Yet, unable to move his hands or feet, he felt like he had lost all control over his body.
Looks like I’m still in some sort of dream, didn’t really wake up… Moments later, I might even think I'm fully awake, only to realize I'm still asleep… Familiar with such experiences, Zhou Mingrui tried desperately to concentrate, hoping to break free from the grip of darkness and disorientation.
However, trapped between wakefulness and sleep, the willpower was as elusive as smoke, difficult to control and concentrate. Despite his efforts, his thoughts kept wandering wildly, with all sorts of ideas coming and going.
How could I suddenly have a headache out of nowhere in the middle of the night?
Especially one which hurts so badly!
Could it be something like a cerebral hemorrhage?
Damn, am I going to die at such a young age?
Wake up! Wake UP!
Huh? Doesn't feel as painful now? Although it still feels like a blunt knife is cutting through my brains…
Sure thing is, I won’t be able to fall asleep any more. How am I supposed to show up for work tomorrow?
Why even bother going to work? This is a legitimate headache, perfect for time off! And no need to worry about the manager's grumblings.
Put it this way, it’s not so bad after all. Yea, free time off for me!
In between the waves of throbbing pain, Zhou Mingrui gradually accumulated a sense of elusive strength. Finally, with a determined effort, he straightened his back and opened his eyes, breaking free from the state of half-sleep and half-wake.
His vision was blurry at first, then tinged with a faint crimson hue. In his line of sight, Zhou Mingrui saw a sturdy wooden desk, upon which lay an open notebook. The papers were rough and yellowed. Where the title supposed to be, there was a sentence written in strange characters, with eye-catching thick, dark ink that seemed ready to drip.
To the left of the notebook, along the edge of the desk, was a stack of seven or eight neatly arranged books. On the wall to their right, were grayish-white pipes inset into the wall, with wall lamps at their ends.
The lamps had a classical Western style, about half the size of an adult's head. It featured a transparent inner layer made of glass and an exterior grid made of black metal.
Diagonally beneath the unlit lamp, was a black ink bottle shrouded in a pale red glow.
On its embossed surface was a blurry angel figure.
In front of the ink bottle and to the right of the notebook, lay a dark-colored pen with a fully circular body. Its tip shimmered with a faint glint while its cap rested right beside a brass revolver.
A gun?
A revolver?
Zhou Mingrui was completely taken aback. Everything in front of him felt absolutely alien, nothing looked like his own room.
Shocked and confused, he came to the realization that the desk, the notebook, the ink bottle, and the revolve were all coated with a layer of crimson “veil” from the light shining through the window.
Without realizing what he was doing, he raised his head, looking up bit by bit.
In the midair, beyond the heavy smooth darkness, hung a crimson full moon, glowing silently.
Hiss… Zhou Mingrui felt inexplicably horrified, as he stood up abruptly. However, before he could fully straighten his knees, a throbbing pain struck his head, draining all his strength. He fell, with his buttocks slammed heavily back onto the burly wood chair.
The pain didn’t stop him for a moment. Zhou Mingrui popped up, turned around in a fluster, and began examining his surroundings.
The room was not big, with a brown door on both of his sides. Against the wall in front of him, was a wooden bunk bed. Between the bed and the door to the left was a cabinet with two opposing doors and five drawers beneath them.
Next to the cabinet was a pipe of the same grayish-white, inset into the wall at the height of a person. What distinct it is that it connected to a strange looking mechanical device, which had a few of gears and bearings exposed here and there.
Items resembling coal stoves, sat in the right corner of the room near the desk, along with some kitchenware such as soup pots and iron pans.
Through the right door, was a dressing mirror with a couple of cracks, standing on a wooden base emboss with simple plain patterns.
While looking around, Zhou Mingrui noticed himself in the mirror, the present him.
Dark hair, brown eyes, wearing a linen shirt, slim, average-looking features and a rather deep outline…
Hiss… Zhou Mingrui grasped the situation immediately as many helpless and confused thoughts surfaced in his mind.
The revolver, the classical European style decorations, as well as the crimson moon that looked nothing like Earth's moon—all of them were screaming the exact same thing.
Who am I?
C-could I have transmigrated?
Zhou Mingrui's mouth slowly opened wider and wider, bit by bit.
He had grown up reading web novels, even fantasized about such scenes from time to time. However, the fantasy was incredibly difficult to accept now that he found himself in one.
Classic "Talk? Yes, yes! Action? No, no!", isn’t it?
In less than a minute, Zhou Mingrui had already started to sarcastically critique, attempting to make the best of whatever situation he found himself in.
But for the throbbing headache forcing him to think fast and sharply, he would for sure be convinced that he was dreaming.
Easy, easy, easy…taking deep breaths, Zhou Mingrui was trying really hard to make himself to calm down.
Just as his mind and body began to relax, pieces of memories started to flush, slowly flooding into his consciousness.
Klein Moretti.
A citizen of the City of Tingen, Awwa County, Loen Kingdom in the Northern Continent
Recently graduated from the Department of History at Khoy University…
His father was a sergeant of the Imperial Army, who had sacrificed his life during a colonial ware with the Southern Continent. His bereavement allowance made it possible for Klein to study at a private literature school, paving the way for his admission into university…
His mother was a devotee of the Evernight Goddess, who passed away the year Klein passed the entrance examinations to Khoy University…
He also had an elder brother and a younger sister, living together in a two-bedroom apartment.
Their family was far from wealthy, and its financial situation could even be described as somewhat strained.
Currently, the family was supported solely by the elder brother who worked as a clerk at an import and export company …
As a college graduate majored in history, Klein was proficient in the ancient language of Feysac, considering the origin of all languages in the Northern Continent, as well as the language of Hermes, which was commonly found in ancient mausoleums and often associated with sacrificial scenes and praying rituals.
Hermes?!
Zhou Mingrui's mind started to race as he reached out to rub his throbbing temples.
He cast his gaze toward the desk at the opened notebook, but to realize that the strange looking characters on the yellowed paper started to look somewhat familiar, then increasingly recognizable, and finally comprehensible.
It was a statement written in Hermes!
The thick, dark ink, seemingly ready to drip, read:
“Everyone will die including me myself!”
Hiss! Zhou Mingrui felt inexplicably horrified. He instinctively leaned back, attempting to escape away from the notebook, and the ominous statement on it.
Being so weak, he almost fell down, but managed to extend his hands in a fluster to grasp the edge of the desk.
He felt that air around him air started to roar, filled with faint whispering and murmurings. It felt just like listening to horror stories told by elders when he was young.
He shook his head, telling himself that all these were nothing but an illusion. Getting back onto his feet, he looked away from the notebook while still breathing heavily.
This time, his sight landed on the shimmering brass revolver, immediately realizing something unexplainable.
With Klein's social status, in what universe he would have the money or access to buy a revolver?!
Zhou Mingrui couldn't help but furrow his brow. Deeply puzzled, his eyes were caught by a reddish handprint at the edge of the desk, which was even darker than the moonlight, as well as thicker than the “veil”.
It was a bloody handprint!
A bloody handprint?
Zhou Mingrui instinctly flipped his right hand, that was pushing against the edge of the desk. Looking at it, he saw his palm and fingers covered in blood.
In the meaning time, the throbbing pain was getting a little bit better, yet didn’t go away, binding him like one tie after another.
Did I smash and injure my head? Zhou Mingrui guessed as he turned around, walking towards the cracked dressing mirror. After just a few of steps, a medium build figure of dark hair and brown eyes appeared clearly in front of him. The person had a distinct scholarly air to him.
Is this the present me?
Klein Moretti?
Zhou Mingrui was stunned. The poor lighting of the night obscured his vision, preventing him from clearly discerning something he had noticed. He continued forward until he was just a step away from colliding with the mirror.
Illumined by the crimson veil-like moonlight, he turned his head and began to examine the side of his forehead. A clear reflection appeared in the mirror. There, no his temple, was a grotesque wound with burn marks around the edges, blood staining the surrounding area. Grayish-white brain matter was slowly seeping out from within.

Hello, I am M25 looking for a detailed woman that wants to RP as a spy. I am around 5’8, average body that is slightly on the pudgy side, a straight smile, and half white/half Mexican. You were the only child to your parents but your dad was a drunk and your mom cheated on him and neglected to you. Once you hit 18 and graduated from high school, you instantly went into the military. It was hard and difficult for you at first. However, you started to do well in it. So well, that when it came to marksman training and hand to hand combat, you were good at it. You were then contracted by the government to take certain assassination jobs of corrupt officials overseas. You were able to get a graduate degree, own a house, and a new car as you were only called to do your job twice a month with a couple of meetings as well. One job paid 6 digits as long as the terms and conditions of the job was meant. However, you were lonely. You were told that you were allowed to date but not tell anyone your actual job. You and I hit it off where we got along with each other and frequently video chatted. You even went as far as sending me gifts at my work from other vendors. You really liked me but had to be careful regarding your job. You decided to ask me on a date at your place where we can watch a movie and make dinner together. You were looking forward to seeing me. However, you were called in for an emergency briefing on an assassination 24 hours ahead of time. You were able to complete the job but had a black eye and a couple of cracked ribs in the process. You made it with only a few hours to spare as you were sore and tired. Blood even on your lower lip as you tossed your clothes in the washer. Getting your ice bath ready as you had a cigarette and bottle of powerful liquor to dull the pain. When you were in the tub, you had time to reflect and relax. A small part of you just wanted to quit but you enjoyed only having to work a handful number of times a month. You fell asleep in your bathtub but did not set your alarm. The ice cold water making your body numb to the touch as you were in dreamland. I arrived a couple of hours later and rung your doorbell. Even tried calling you as all of a sudden, you awakened and was caught off guard by me. Cursing at yourself as you forgot our date was tonight. The worst part about it was that you did not have much makeup options and only had clothes that covered you from head to toe for your missions and clothes for bedtime usage. You answered the phone, “Hi, if this is a bad time, I can reschedule”. I say as you were eagerly looking forward to meeting with me. Turning me away would make you feel bad.

2024.05.17 07:46 Masqurade-King What Frozen 2 Possibly Could Have Been

What Frozen 2 Possibly Could Have Been
Hello,
I thought of this post after music4ever12 posted about how we were robbed when it came to frozen 2. Her post revealed that the people who created OFA wanted to use it as a set up for Frozen 2, so the actions they characters took in the short would show what we were going to expect to see in the sequel. This got be thinking about what those actions where.
Now, this is both me theorizing and also putting my own ideas in on what Frozen 2 could have been.
Now, OFA, came out in 2018, one year before Frozen 2 came out in 2019. So this really got me thinking on how much Frozen 2 might have changed between that time. They had been working on the script since 2015, and I remember in 2017 Jen Lee said the script was done. But then in early 2019, the teaser trailer was dropped and it was only filled with test animations. There was no story, so what happened? I used to be friends with someone who used to work at Disney and she still had friends in Disney when Frozen 2 was being made. She told me that Chris Buck did have a script, but then Jen Lee took it and butchered it. A lot of people think she did this to make Frozen 2 her own and show she was the right person to be the new head of Disney Animation after John Lasseter was kicked out.
This does beg the question on how much was changed from the original script. Was it a completely different story, or was just the messaging and end results changed? What about the idea of making Anna queen? Was that decided back in 2015, or suggested in 2019? The only things I remember being commented on about the film was that they went to Norway to see glaciers, and had asked the Sami for help on designing the Northuldra, although I don't remember when they did this.
Well, here is what I think was intended based off of OFA.
Kristoff not fitting in with royal life. Started off with him because his story is simple. OFA showed how uncomfortable he is with parties, and how he is not meant for royal life seeing how he likes the troll tradition. The deleted scenes of Frozen 2, showed this conflict, but I think there is a possibility that it could have centered around more of Anna trying to make her choice in where she wants to be in life, rather then Kristoff disliking royal life. See, when Kristoff shows his tradition in OFA, Anna is actually excited about it, and seems to enjoy it. She only rejects it when it becomes disgusting, but she is not as appalled as Elsa is. Kristoff does not belong in the palace, but so does Anna. She is a screw up princess, and that is why she loves Kristoff, because she can be herself around him. With her learning that Kristoff does not want a life in the palace, there could have been a big conflict for Anna. The number one thing she wants in life is to stay with Elsa, but she does not feel right in the palace, and now Kristoff is leaving. So Anna would feel pressured into deciding on weather she should go with Kristoff, or stay with Elsa. Staying with Elsa is obviously what she will do, but then it becomes the question on if and how Anna and Kristoff will manage to make their relationship work.
Anna and Elsa dealing with their childhood, and trying to find their place in Arendelle.
OFA, showed how much Anna and Elsa had lost their childhood. This is literally the first Christmas that Anna can remember, and we saw how Elsa's childhood was filled with gloves and her only friend being a stuffed penguin. FF showed Anna and Elsa finally celebrating a birthday together, and OFA is their first Christmas. So what can Frozen 2 talk about concerning their childhood?
Their parents. Frozen 2 was going to deal with how Anna and Elsa felt about their parents and the mistakes they made raising them. Now, Frozen 2 tried to paint the parents as perfect and loving, but I don't think this was what was originally going to be discussed. There is a deleted song called "I Seek the Truth", this is the only song that was not recorded by the voice actresses for Anna and Elsa, and so I always thought it was the earliest songs made.
In this song, Elsa is putting all her faith in her mother. She discovered her mother is Northuldra and might have the clue to why she was born with powers. Throughout the song Elsa is praising Iduna, how she was a great queen and mother, and how she always new what was right. However, Anna has a very different reaction. She is hateful towards her parents and comments on how many lies and secrets they kept.
One of the things I have noticed throughout the Frozen franchise, is how blinded Elsa's faith in her parents are. She followed Agnarr's advice of using gloves and saying "Conceal it, don't feel it, don't let it show", and in the Broadway musical in the song "Monster", Elsa says this "Father, you know what's best for me". There is also how she looks up at his picture during her coronation, viewing him as the perfect ruler she needs to imitate.
But we all know that Agnarr was wrong. Conceal don't feel, was bad for Elsa and her bottling everything up only made it all worse, and of course locking Anna out from her life as well. But, she still trusted him, and now Frozen 2 is about her trusting her mother.
I think Elsa was going to learn that, even though her parents loved her, they were not perfect as she perceives them as. I think this was going to be done through her learning Iduna's past. Elsa would realize that her mother was in fact just like her. A scared lonely girl who hid who she really was, and whose lie ended up bringing herself and her husband to ruin.
As for Anna. Her frustrations of being kept in the dark and having no one trust her would be brought to light. I think it would be also pointed at Elsa, especially if Elsa once again started to try and do everything by herself again. Anna would feel that after all this time, no one believed in her. This would have been a great character development for both sisters, especially for Elsa as she has to realize how much she is hurting Anna by pushing her away. It would probably end with Anna learning to forgive her parents, and realizing that they did love her.
As for Anna and Elsa trying to find their place in Arendelle.
OFA, showed how much Anna and Elsa wanted to connect with their people. Hosting a party for them at the beginning, and feeling sad when they all left, especially Elsa, as Anna took one look at Elsa's crest fallen face and immediately jumped into action and tried to get people to stay. And then at the end, how happy they were when all of Arendelle helped them to find Olaf and then they all had a party at night, with Elsa using her magic to create a Christmas tree and decorations, as well as tables for the food. Not only were Anna and Elsa closer with each other at the end of OFA, but they also were closer with their people as well, with Elsa saying that Arendelle now had a new tradition, with ringing of the bell being the first. OFA also really highlighted the people of Arendelle. Showing different kinds of families and people that lived in this kingdom, and how different their traditions are.
Frozen 2 was going to show more of this.
First Anna. All Anna wants in life is to be of service. She wants to find her place in how to help Arendelle. This of course is geared to her finding out how she can help Elsa. Elsa is the queen and Anna's sister. Of course Anna would want to help Elsa, and in doing so help Arendelle. But I doubt she would just want to be just someone Elsa gave random jobs to. Anna would want to have specific tasks that are all handed to her. Should she take full control of charity events? Or perhaps she wants to work with Kristoff in the trading business. But it has to be a job that keeps her from a desk, and one where she can go out and interact with people, helping them as they help her.
As for Elsa. Going back to the song "I seek the truth", Elsa says this "How do I be you, how do I be good, how do I be me in Arendelle". Elsa is aware that she is different and feels like she does not belong in Arendelle, but she still wants to be. The reason she is trying to find out who Iduna is, as well as learn why she was born with powers, is so that she can finally feel at peace in Arendelle.
I think Elsa was simply going to learn that she was blessed with magic because of how her parents saved each other when the forest was attacked. She was given ice powers simply so she could find the truth in Ahtohallan. however, I don't think she was going to be revealed as the Fifth Spirit. I think the whole Fifth Spirit idea was added in later, because think about it, it is so random and not thought out, and even the whole voice calling to Elsa was not part of the original plot and who the voice was was changed at the last second as well.
Elsa would have finally found solace in knowing she was not born a curse, and that the reason she had powers as well, was for Arendelle's betterment. To have them face their terrible past so that they could learn and grow. And that is how Elsa will find her place in Arendelle. Finally realizing her parents were not perfect, so she should not beat her self up for thinking she is not as good as a ruler as them. And having powers that help bring to light Arendelle's mistake, so that she can help them move forward.
Now, for the ending.
I think Elsa will freeze in Arendelle like in the movie, however I don't think this will be considered a noble sacrifice. Elsa was constantly warned about going to far, and trying to do it alone. There is even the line grand Pabbie says to Anna in the trailer "magic is alluring, without you, she may lose herself to it". Elsa will make the mistake. She will push Anna away again, and go to far. She messed up, but it finally gives Anna a chance to prove herself, and show Elsa that she is someone to be depended on.
One of the things that Frozen and OFA highlights greatly is how much Anna never gives up on Elsa, and I think Frozen 2 was also going to highlight this.
When Elsa freezes, and after Anna breaks the dam and destroys Arendelle, Elsa would not unfreeze. Anna would become queen, but she would not give up hope in believing that Elsa will return one day. She knows Elsa is not lost, because she believes in her sister. Anna would rebuild Arendelle, and would search for the scattered Northuldra (Originally only Mattias was alive in the forest), and she would help the two people mend their relationship. She does this because it is right, but also so that everything is in order for when Elsa returns.
Anna, even though is called queen, she would not feel like one. She would feel more like she is simply taking care of Arendelle in Elsa's absence. If Anna was queen, then she would feel like she is replacing Elsa, and as Elsa's spare, that would imply Elsa is gone, and that is something Anna would never except.
This is also where Kristoff finally proves himself. Even though he dislikes royal life, he loves Anna more, and he sticks with her even when she becomes queen. He helps her in finding the lost Northuldra and helps represent them as well.
Through Anna's hard work of rebuilding Arendelle and bringing both of her parents people together, but most importantly, her love and faith in Elsa. That is what finally freeze Elsa, both literally and figuratively. Elsa is no longer frozen in the past at the bottom of Ahtohallan, but she also can finally move on from her childhood as well and feeling like she does not belong anywhere.
I am imagining two ways this will be shown.
  1. Anna is on the balcony looking down at Arendelle as it is complete and her people are happy. She looks to the North and says "Come home soon Elsa". We then travel to the forest and we see Olaf wondering around confused, calling out for Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Sven. The movie will end there. By showing Olaf is alive it means Elsa is back as well and that she will return to Arendelle.
  2. Anna is on the balcony and once again says "Come home soon Elsa". Suddenly a wind blows and Anna sees Elsa's signature snowflake. Anna then looks out over the fjord and sees Elsa riding Nokk toward Arendelle. Anna runs through the castle with everyone wondering why, and she bursts out the gates and runs to the water where Elsa and her hug and everyone celebrates.
And lastly, Elsa's dress.
Instead of her dress making her about how she is the Fifth Spirit and belongs with the Northuldra in the forest. I think the dress was originally supposed to represent the two people coming together. Elsa's final dress looked like a recolor of her ice dress, but made to try and fit in with the Northuldra, and I think that was the point. Arendelle was meant to be rebuilt representing both the Northuldra and Arendelle cultures, and that is what Elsa's dress is. The part that is similar to her iconic ice dress, was meant to represent Arendelle, while the changes were to represent Northuldra. Both cultures, now all together in Arendelle, where Elsa can finally be herself. The part of her that is Arendelle, a regel queen, and the part of her that is Northuldra, a person that is attached to nature and magic.
Anna's queen dress would have been a combination of her style and Iduna's queen dress, as well as Elsa. This will show that Anna has forgiven her parents, and is looking to her mother and Elsa for inspiration on being a queen.
And finally.
OFA, said that Anna and Elsa are both in blue to show that they have grown closer as sisters. I think this was going to continue in Frozen 2, with Anna and Elsa being in the same dress and color, but with different styles.
Like this concept art.

And maybe even like this one as well.
Concept art by Jean Gilmore
Well, those are all my ideas. What do you think? And what do you think Olaf should have been like in frozen 2 as well?

2024.05.17 07:46 final_cadencee I accidentally fell for my professor

Me- 25 prof-idk and idc
It's exactly what the title says, for obvious reasons I can't tell anyone about this, some school friends know I have a crush but I told then that my crush is associated with the school so I can't tell them and they respect that but I hate it. Bottling things up is not my Forte. I've never kept a diary but my sketchbook has been filled with writing recently of me trying to let this out. I'm hitting the 6 moth mark soon and the crush hasn't faded, I've looked critically at myself... am I inventing a persona for him? No. Am I mistaking respect for passion? No. Am I simply just attracted too him physically? No... it runs SOO much deeper than that. I want to know him, I want to like go out to dinner with this man and listen to him talk and get in his head, the way he philosophies the world is incredible he's smart and creative and funny, and everything he does thay other people hate makes perfect sense to me. His quirks are adorable and I live for the moments when he let's his personality slip through the cracks in his professional facade. In my head there's a constant battle between my intuition and logic. My intuition says he reciprocates the feelings but for obv reasons can't say. My logic says absolutely not he would never see me like that. The best way I knkw how to explain the feeling is like torture but torture that I don't want to get rid of, in fact i would hold onto this feeling for dear life. Ive had crushes they pass quickly, ive loved, that loving passion and curiosity i felt in my previous relationships was similar but for them i felt it in my heart and part of that was heavy attraction physically. This one i feel it in my gut like theres a rope around my waist and every time he crosses my mind something jerks the rope and my thought process goes haywire for a moment. I know I should go out of my way to not be around him but I can't bring myself to no go to his office hours. Before you say anything no I don't intend on acting on my feelings and im nlt looking for advice I just need to get it out because it's eating me alive. I knkw I should run and not look back, it can't happen, my logic is fighting a loosing battle because my intuition and passion are teamed up and unstoppable. At this point I'm just glad that I have incredibly good self control, because the only place ill let myself admit that I've accidentally fallen in love with him is in writing because to say thay out loud is absolutely fucking bonkers. Is that even possible? Like yeah I spend a good amount of time with him but the little bits n peices I get of his personality aren't a true representation of him. So why am I able to predict everything he does THIS MAN ACCIDENTALLY FINISHES MY SENTENCES SOMETIMES and vice versa, weve stopped doing it cause it sTarted to get weird thay we were able to ACCIDENTALLY do it. Its weird. like wtf. It's getting to an undeniable point, we have this incredible chemistry that's dying to get out of its cage. It's driving me insane. The way we maneuver around one another is uncanny and idk what thats about but I'm putting this thought here so I don't have to think about it anymore. maybe the worst part is thay it's all unspoken, we've never addressed it never talked about it, when we decided to stop doing it it was just like an unspoken understanding thay thays weird and se we stopped. wtf... this shit get crazier by the day stg.

2024.05.17 07:40 ace-k-dog 8 week old not eating enough. Failure to thrive?

Hi all, new mom here. My 8 week old boy has been having such a hard time gaining weight. Dropped from 65th to 15th percentile, actually lost two ounces last week.
IBCLC diagnosed a tongue tie which we had repaired over 2 weeks ago. His tongue mobility has increased tremendously. But still very poor weight gain.
He sometimes feeds really well, especially when he is very alert. However he feeds poorly when he is tired or sleepy. With IBCLC we did a weighted feed of 4.1oz, 3.5oz, etc so he is capable of taking on a whole feed! But he usually doesn’t.
Even pumping and giving a bottle hasn’t worked. He will take a small amount and then refuse more, just wants to sleep. Right now it’s 2am and I could not get him to take much on the breast, offered a bottle and he took 1.5oz but it was a struggle. Woke him up several times in creative ways but it doesn’t work for long.
I have a good supply, I just don’t know what it’s going to take to get this boy to eat more when he doesn’t want to. I estimate he is getting maybe 15-20oz per day when he should be getting 25-35oz.

2024.05.17 07:19 MangoDurgen Copyright issues? (UK, England)

Need to know if my idea would get me in copyright in trouble in England.
I want to sell video game inspired potions on etsy.
Would I get in trouble for copyright infringement if I did this? For example selling a glass bottle with a red liquid in it and calling it a potion of life (from the Legend of Zelda gaming franchise) with a triforce wax seal on the top or other zelda iconography in the decoration.
I don't know where the line between "inspired by" and "copyright infringement" would be.
I see people selling blatantly Harry Potter potions and they don't appear to get in trouble (literally using the names from the books/films). So I wondered what the advice would be on this.
Advice welcomed. Thanks.

A child's bedroom is more than just a place to sleep; it's a portal to a world brimming with dragons, princesses, and pirate ships. It's where their wildest dreams take flight, fueled by boundless creativity. So, when designing a custom space for your little one, why not tap into that powerful imagination and create a room that ignites their wonder? Here are some tips to help you bring your child's unique vision to life, and if you need help translating those dreams into reality, consider consulting with interior designers in Chennai.
Embrace the Power of Collaboration
This isn't just your project; it's a shared adventure. From the very beginning, involve your child in the design process. Sit down together and brainstorm ideas. Ask them about their favorite colors, characters, and stories. What kind of adventures do they dream of having in their room?
Don't be afraid of unconventional ideas. Maybe they want a spaceship bed that blasts off to distant galaxies, or a secret forest nook for reading fairy tales. Embrace their excitement and work together to translate their dreams into a tangible design.
Theme Time: Unleash the Inner Explorer
Themes can be a fantastic way to ignite a child's imagination. Here are some ideas to get you started:
  • Enchanted Forest: Transform walls into a lush green haven with stenciled trees and vines. Add a comfy bean bag chair shaped like a giant mushroom and a canopy tent for cozy woodland adventures.
  • Under the Sea: Dive deep with calming blue tones and playful ocean murals. Hang a net filled with plush sea creatures and create a reading nook shaped like a coral reef.
  • Outer Space Adventure: Blast off to distant galaxies with a starry night ceiling and glow-in-the-dark constellations. Add a rocket ship bed and a planetarium projector for stargazing nights.
Remember, these are just starting points. Let your child's unique interests guide the theme.
Paint a Picture: Walls that Inspire
Walls are a blank canvas waiting to be brought to life. Here are some creative ways to utilize them:
  • Murals: Hire a professional artist or get crafty with stencils and paint. Create a sweeping jungle scene, a bustling city skyline, or a fantastical underwater kingdom – the possibilities are endless.
  • Wallpaper Magic: Explore themed wallpapers with vibrant colors and enchanting patterns. From magical castles to prehistoric landscapes, wallpapers can instantly set the mood for the room.
  • Chalkboard Walls: Give your child a space to express their ever-evolving creativity. Install a chalkboard wall where they can draw, design their own adventures, or even leave messages for you.
Furnish with Fun: More than Just Beds and Desks
Furniture plays a crucial role in setting the stage for imaginative play. Consider these options:
  • Themed Beds: Is your child a princess? Let them sleep in a majestic carriage bed or a charming castle bunk bed. Do they dream of becoming a pirate? Search for a pirate ship bed complete with sails and a treasure chest.
  • Multifunctional Furniture: Invest in furniture that serves multiple purposes. A loft bed with a built-in play area underneath maximizes space and sparks imaginative play. A table that transforms into a fort or a desk that includes a reading nook keeps things exciting.
  • Storage Solutions with Flair: Don't let storage be a bore. Choose baskets woven to resemble animal shapes or ottomans that double as toy chests. Fun storage solutions encourage kids to clean up while adding a touch of whimsy to the room.
Lighting the Way: Setting the Mood
Lighting can dramatically transform the atmosphere of a room. Here are some imaginative ideas:
  • Fairy Lights: String twinkling fairy lights across the ceiling or around curtains to create a magical, starry night effect.
  • Fiber Optic Lights: Embed fiber optic lights in the ceiling or walls to create a mesmerizing, constellation-like effect.
  • Interactive Lights: Consider star projectors or color-changing LED lights that can be adjusted to create different moods for playtime, reading, or bedtime.
The Finishing Touches: Personalize and Accessorize
No room is complete without personal touches. Here's how to make it truly your child's own:
  • DIY Crafts: Get creative together and personalize the space with homemade artwork, dream catchers, or mobiles.
  • Themed Decor: Spruce up the room with decorative elements that complement the chosen theme. Plush toys, figurines, and wall art can further bring the imaginary world to life.
  • Cozy Corners: Create a special reading nook with a comfortable bean bag chair.
While these tips offer a great starting point, remember, the most important element is your child's imagination. Don't be afraid to get creative and have fun with the process! And if you need help translating those grand ideas into a functional and beautiful space, consider consulting with interior designers in India
who specialize in creating magical environments for children.

2024.05.17 06:32 ByMyDecree Reviewing and Ranking Every Battle: Alexander the Great vs. Ivan the Terrible

Tier List: https://imgur.com/a/RjE3PTc
There's something special about this battle from the very beginning, with how the announcer is doing these hushed whispers with this ominous music playing.
"Look alive, crème de la Kremlin's arriving! Try to serve Ivan; no surviving!" Ivan saying "look alive" as we get a close-up shot of his face is an attention-grabbing opener. The wordsmithing here with crème de la Kremlin and serve Ivan/surviving is magical. The background looks gorgeous too, great use of colors. "You're a land rover; I'm a land expander! Here to hand you your first loss, Alexander!" Well this is simultaneously a top-tier boast and diss; Alexander's empire fell apart when he died while Ivan's conquerings remained a part of Russia, so he's already making a strong case for being better at the thing Alexander's famous for. "I'll school you like Aristotle; smack you harder than you hit that bottle!" This is fine. A reference to the fact that Aristotle taught Alexander and a diss against Alexander for being a drunk. These aren't particularly powerful lines, but they're functional. I do love the way Ivan's eyes wander to the rhythm when he says 'hit that bottle'. "You're nothing but an overrated lush; I'll crush ya! I'm the first Tsar of all of Russia!" Interesting tidbit that does make Ivan the Terrible seem like a much more significant historical figure than he otherwise would have if you didn't know that. Getting all the guys from the Russian battle in the background is a fun touch, even if the dancer dude does not feel like he remotely belongs up there with the rest of those guys. "You're an asshole with an anastole! I'm heaven-sent, divine and holy!" The first line is quite mediocre, and the second line is mostly just serving to build up to the next line. "So don't even try to approach the God, or you'll get a huge sack like Novgorod!" God fucking damn, this is easily in my top ten closing lines. Not only is it a clever line and a gloriously epic boast, but the line delivery. His voice is so low and monstrous-sounding, especially with how they seem to have layered extra copies of the line recording on top of it. And the visual with all the Ivans on-screen, and the versions on the right and left turning to the camera join the one in the center in delivering this wham line... UNF. I love this!
"Hey fella, swell diss." Gotta cut in early here to acknowledge how funny and iconic this reaction is. "But now you got the Panhellenist from Pella hella pissed." This line speaks for itself, it's got some of the best wordplay ERB has ever crafted. "Stepping up's foolish as well as useless, little Vasilyevich! Let me spell out the list!" Pretty cool wordsmithing here, nice setup to something bigger though I don't think what follows quite lives up. "I brought foes to their knees in Phonecia! Breezed through Gaza to Giza! Had the Balkans, Persia, Syria, Iraq, and Pakistan in my expansion pack!" This comes pretty close to just being a straightforward history lesson, there's not a ton of cleverness here. The expansion pack joke is a little corny. There's a little bit of wordplay going on with bits like knees/Phonecia and Gaza/Giza. Flow's weaker than in the rest of his verse too. The visual with the map is a nice touch. "While you died in the middle of a game of chess; you got vodka bars: flavorless!" Some competent disses here. I really like the visual of the chess board: he even knocks over a King, which is presumably supposed to represent him defeating Ivan. I think the way Alexander paints Ivan as a disconnected figure who's just playing games whilst Alexander is actually out conquering in-person is a nice way to preserve his credibility after that land expander bit from Ivan. "And what I'm about to spit will be the craziest, so go fix me a drink so I can stay refreshed!" Nothing too great here, although I do like the dismissiveness inherent in Alexander ordering Ivan to make him a drink. "Kudos! Greek for the glory I got from winning every single war that I fought." Nothing much to say, this is a good boast, it checks out. "So this will be straightforward: I'll take up this sword that I brought, and slice you in half like the Gordian knot." This isn't the most substantive way of saying he's better than Ivan, but referencing the Gordian knot legend is something. "And I'll soar to the top, like the eagle whose feather I would sport in the helmet I wore, as I swatted my many enemies; shattered them like a porcelain pot, and they'd be praying for the torture to stop!" Okay, now Alexander is just witlessly rambling. This is easily the low point of his verse. "But I would leave 'em contorted and they'd be screaming and roaring until their vocal cords were torn up and shot!" Again, he's just rambling, but I will say that his flow and line delivery starts being so awesome here that I can give it a pass. I also like how the way the music stopped after he yelled "stop!" last line before dropping into this one. "And I would holler "Bucephalus!", hop on my horsey, and trot! I win, Ivan; I vanquish! I'm an immortal; you're not!" He's still mostly just rambling about how great he is without being clever about it, but again, he sounds so awesome here that it works. And the Ivan/I vanquish is good wordplay and a nice parallel to the serve Ivan/surviving bit, so it does have that much going for it in terms of substance. Also the visuals cutting back to Ivan pouring a drink in the creepiest possible manner are fan-fucking-tastic.
Ivan concedes defeat, having actually prepared Alexander a drink. You'd think a little interim bit like this would hurt the battle in repeat viewings/listens, but I enjoy it every time. Zach Sherwin's line delivery of "I WEEP, it's all so EEEEAAAASY!!!" is hilarious. Love the way Ivan comes poking out of the shadows all rat-like as he asks what's wrong. I also dig the way Alexander's facial expression changes when he says 'queasy' and he falls down and his head moving out of the shot gives way to Ivan standing behind him celebrating and it's just so GOOD. This battle is so much fun! The "HA!!! You've been poisoned!" is fun, as is Zach Sherwin's deliberately bad acting with his final words. Ivan declares that he is Terrible and that there's no Great who could defeat this Russian, but a mysterious shadow materializes and quietly suggests a flute-busting Prussian might manage it.
What the FUCK. The flute solo! The chanting of "Old Fritz!" The bird's eye camera angle that Lloid looks up at as the emblem of what is probably his house or country or some other organization related to him is on the floor! That dapper-ass outfit! The little pose he strikes as his title card appears! This is without a doubt the greatest entrance any contestant has ever had in ERB to this day. This new music track kicks ass too. "Out the gate, first servant of state! Oblique attack tactics, ain't exactly straight!" As if he wasn't cool enough already, the king is a queen! Good use of consonance too. Also apparently this is referencing a famous tactic for battle that Frederick used. I looked up 'first servant of state prussia' and was informed that Frederick pursued a policy of religious tolerance and abolished torture immediately when he came to power. What an absolute chad. I wish he brought that up here; at best he vaguely alludes to it. "I've got creative talents and battle malice; hard as steel on the field, genteel in the palace!" These lines aren't substantive, but the line delivery is a ton of fun. And the visuals with him jabbing his cane and sipping from a cup are immaculate. "Russia's fucked up but no wonder why; with your tundras and taigas and bears oh my!" Great flow, the visuals are absolutely top tier. The line itself is competent, definitely getting carried by the presentation, but the tigers/taigas swapout is good. "I would pay a guy to tear out my eyes if I had to look at your troll face every night!" Man... why can't mediocre lines in all of the battles get such good line deliveries? Lloid is selling the absolute fuck out of this weaksauce diss and making it work. "Now, bring me my chair! I'm weary from tearing you a new derrière from here to Red Square!" Wait a minute, is that... chair... wear... tear... derrière... square... IT IS!!! IT'S A 5X RHYME COMBO!!! "Fought a Seven Years' War, I ain't scared of a Tsar! 'Cause beating you only took me twelve bars!" A truly fabulous boast and iconic verse closer.
These interims continue the trend of being hilarious by having Frederick die in his chair without the need for Ivan's intervention, which is a reference to how he actually died! Fancy that. I do think this one doesn't quite stand up to repeat encounters the way the first intermission did; the line about saving money and the little song Ivan sings are a bit drab to sit through again and again, but hey, they were funny the first time and it's still a fun performance from Peter. Pompey comes in to seemingly start rapping, but immediately gets decapitated by Catherine the Great. Poor guy. I would have liked for this to be a five-way battle and to have gotten a verse from Pompey first, but ah well.
"Macedonians, Prussians, and Romans; those aren't worthy opponents. It takes a Russian to take down a Russian. I'm Cat; I'm a cat; you're a rodent!" This is a pretty good opener, except for the fact that she's singing. Introducing singing into these rap battles is always a serious momentum-killer. She's got a great costume, though. "How are you the head of our state when the state of your head was such a crazy one? Such sick shit going through your brain that you stuck a spike through your own son!" Good wordplay in that first line, great visuals with these dancers up to chicanery in the background. "You're unbalanced like I unbalanced the European powers with the wars I waged! I brought the Russian empire straight out the olden days and right into the golden age!" That first line feels a little forced, competent boast in the second line. "I'm the boss bitch that you just can't meddle with! This whole battle's like Alaska 'cause I settled it!" Nice closer.
Ivan briefly interjects as he tries and fails to seduce Catherine with a horse. Peter continues giving the best performance of his career, though I can't help but wish we got a little more here. Feels weird that this is the last we see Ivan onscreen. Would've been nice to at least see an upset reaction to his ploy failing.
Catherine proceeds to inform Ivan that this rumor about her sexual proclivities is false: "That horse story is a pile of shit, though I do keep 'em chomping at the bit." There's three different layers to 'chomping at the bit' going on here, and that's cool. "But you're never gonna get it, nyet! Couldn't spin in my chamber of this were Russian roulette." This is pretty funny, and I think it's for sure her best line. The little interjection of 'nyet' is great. "I'm picking up where Peter the Great left off! Bringing sexy back to House Romanov!" Not much to say here. Kind of filler. "So don't call me Queen, I'm far more great! Empress to Tsar 8, bitch! Checkmate!" This is literally a killer closing line; she's referencing how Ivan died in the middle of a game of chess, as Alexander said, and years later I'm only just getting that now.
So all of these verses have considerable flaws, I think. Ivan's is too short, for as much screentime as he gets he doesn't get much in terms of actual rapping. We could have at least used a few more lines in his first verse. There's a lot of Alexander the Great's verse that is just him droning on about how great he is without actually having much substance or cleverness to what he's saying. It's his godlike FLOW that is carrying him through a lot of this. And that's a legitimate factor to consider in his performance and it does make his verse great to listen to, but I wish there were more meat there underneath Sherwin's kickass performance. Frederick the Great is the most entertaining part of the battle(saying a LOT when Ivan the Terrible is present) and his lines are probably the most consistently good, but none of them are great, y'know? He could have used a killer burn or two in there, his diss game wasn't great. And Catherine the Great... well, she sang for both of her verses. I hate it when rappers sing, it kills the energy, and when going back to listen to this battle(which is very often!) I usually stop once her verse starts. She's got some good lines, they're decent verses on paper, and her actress is obviously a good singer, but I just do not want to listen to a solid minute of someone singing in a rap battle.
And really, having so much of this battle be skippable to me is reason enough to justify putting it in A Tier rather than S. I certainly intended to put it in A Tier for a long time. But... even if I feel Catherine's verse ends up being a drag, and even if the verses that come before have some flaws that might keep them from being S Tier on their own... it's all just so fun. Peter and Lloid and Zach are all at their best, and I genuinely do think Ivan is the best character Peter ever played. I love the performances, and the visuals, and the music(mostly), and the structure of having all these Greats dying off to the Terrible. This has got to be in the top five rap battles in terms of which ones I go back to the most; probably exactly number five. And if that isn't worthy of S Tier, then there's only gonna be four S Tiers on this list, and that seems like too few. Bottom of S Tier.
Ivan = Frederick>Alexander>Catherine. Maybe a little controversial, but I do think that you could make a valid and substantive case for any one of these rappers being the winner.

2024.05.17 06:25 HandcraftInc Custom Kitchen Cabinets Guide

Custom Kitchen Cabinets Guide
Custom Kitchen Cabinets Guide
The kitchen is often considered the heart of the home, where meals are prepared, conversations flow, and memories are made. When it comes to designing this vital space, custom kitchen cabinets can elevate both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of your kitchen. Whether you're renovating an existing kitchen or building a new one from scratch, designing custom cabinets allows you to tailor every aspect to your needs and preferences. Here's a comprehensive guide to help residential owners navigate the exciting journey of designing custom kitchen cabinets.
Understanding the Benefits
Before diving into the design process, it's crucial to understand the benefits of opting for custom kitchen cabinets over pre-made ones:
Personalization: Custom cabinets are built to your exact specifications, ensuring they fit your kitchen's unique layout and your specific storage needs.
Quality Craftsmanship: Custom cabinets are typically of higher quality than mass-produced options, as they are crafted with precision and attention to detail.
Optimized Storage: You can maximize storage space by designing cabinets that make the most of every nook and cranny, including corner cabinets, pull-out shelves, and vertical dividers.
Enhanced Style: From materials to finishes, custom cabinets offer endless style possibilities. You can choose the perfect combination to complement your kitchen's design theme.
Steps to Designing Custom Kitchen Cabinets
  1. Assess Your Needs
Begin by taking stock of what you need to store in your kitchen. Consider your cooking habits, the appliances you use, and any specialty items that require specific storage solutions. Make a list of everything you want to accommodate in your cabinets, from pots and pans to small appliances and utensils.
  1. Determine the Layout
Next, consider the layout of your kitchen. Take measurements of the walls, windows, doors, and any obstacles such as pipes or vents. This information will help you create a layout that optimizes space and flow. Common kitchen layouts include galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, and island kitchens.
  1. Choose Materials and Finishes
The materials and finishes you choose will greatly influence the look and durability of your cabinets. Some popular options include:
Wood: Classic and timeless, wood offers warmth and beauty. Common choices include oak, maple, cherry, and walnut.
Laminate:Affordable and available in a wide range of colors and patterns, laminate is durable and easy to clean.
Metal: For a modern and industrial look, consider stainless steel or aluminum cabinets.
Painted: You can opt for painted cabinets in any color to match your kitchen's color scheme.
Glass: Glass cabinet doors can add elegance and allow you to showcase decorative items or glassware.
  1. Design Cabinet Features
Think about the specific features you want in your cabinets:
Drawers vs. Doors: Consider the ratio of drawers to doors based on what you need to store. Drawers are great for easy access to pots, pans, and utensils.
Pull-Out Shelves: These shelves make it easy to access items stored at the back of the cabinet.
Lazy Susans: Ideal for corner cabinets, lazy Susans allow you to maximize storage and access.
Vertical Dividers: Perfect for storing baking sheets, cutting boards, and trays.
Custom Inserts: Tailor your cabinets with custom inserts for spices, knives, and utensils.
Working with Custom Carpentry Contractors and Installers
When it comes to bringing your custom cabinet design to life, working with skilled carpentry contractors and installers is key. Here's how to ensure a smooth collaboration:
Research and Get Quotes: Start by researching local carpentry contractors with experience in custom cabinetry. Ask for recommendations from friends, family, or check online reviews. Obtain quotes from several contractors to compare prices and services.
Review Portfolios: Ask to see portfolios of previous work to get a sense of the contractor's style and quality of craftsmanship. This will also help you gather ideas and inspiration for your own project.
Communicate Your Vision: Clearly communicate your design ideas, preferences, and functional needs to the contractor. Provide them with detailed drawings or plans if you have them. Be open to their suggestions and expertise, as they may offer valuable insights based on their experience.
Timeline and Budget: Discuss your project timeline and budget with the contractor upfront. Make sure they can accommodate your timeline and provide a detailed breakdown of costs. Be prepared for potential additional costs if there are changes or unforeseen circumstances during the project.
Regular Updates: Throughout the project, maintain open communication with the contractor. Regular updates on the progress and any issues that arise will help ensure everything stays on track.
Quality Checks: Before installation, inspect the custom cabinets to ensure they meet your expectations in terms of quality, finish, and functionality. Address any concerns with the contractor promptly.
Enjoying Your Custom Cabinets
Once your custom cabinets are installed, take the time to organize your kitchen items thoughtfully. Enjoy the functionality and beauty of your custom cabinets, knowing they were designed to meet your exact needs and style preferences. Custom cabinets not only enhance the value of your home but also make cooking and entertaining a joyous experience.

What better way to commemorate this special occasion than with a bouquet of stunning purple flowers? Not only do they add a touch of elegance, but their rich symbolism makes them a perfect choice for celebrating achievements.

The Symbolism of Purple Flowers

Historical Significance

Purple has long been associated with royalty, nobility, and luxury. Historically, purple dye was rare and expensive, making it a color worn only by the elite. This historical context adds a layer of prestige and honor to purple flowers, making them an ideal choice for graduation.

Modern Meanings

Today, purple symbolizes creativity, wisdom, and ambition. It’s a color that represents the culmination of knowledge and the pursuit of new beginnings. When you gift someone purple flowers, you’re not just giving them a bouquet—you’re acknowledging their hard work and encouraging their future endeavors.

Why Choose Purple Flowers for Graduation

Unique and Memorable

While traditional flowers like red roses or white lilies are beautiful, purple flowers stand out due to their rarity and vibrant color. They make a lasting impression and are often remembered long after the ceremony.

Sign of Accomplishment

Purple flowers signify success and achievement. They are a visual representation of the graduate’s journey and accomplishments. Gifting purple flowers is a way of recognizing and celebrating their hard-earned success.

Popular Purple Flowers for Graduation Bouquets

Lavender

Lavender is not only known for its calming fragrance but also for its delicate and soothing purple hue. It’s perfect for creating a serene and elegant bouquet that can help ease the nerves of any graduate.

Lilac

Lilacs are beloved for their beautiful clusters of tiny, fragrant flowers. Their soft purple color and sweet scent make them a popular choice for creating visually stunning and aromatic bouquets.

Purple Roses

Roses are classic and timeless, and purple roses add a twist to this traditional favorite. They symbolize enchantment and love at first sight, making them a romantic and charming option for graduation bouquets.

Orchids

Orchids are exotic and sophisticated, representing luxury and beauty. Purple orchids, in particular, are a symbol of admiration and respect, making them an excellent choice to honor a graduate’s achievements.

How to Arrange Purple Flowers in a Bouquet

Choosing the Right Flowers

Start by selecting a variety of purple flowers that complement each other. Mixing different shades of purple can create a dynamic and visually appealing bouquet.

Mixing with Other Colors

Adding flowers in contrasting colors like white, pink, or yellow can make the purple flowers pop. This combination adds depth and interest to the bouquet, making it more eye-catching.

Adding Greenery

Greenery like ferns, eucalyptus, or ivy can enhance the beauty of purple flowers by providing a fresh and natural backdrop. It also helps to fill out the bouquet and make it look more lush and full.

DIY Purple Flower Bouquets

Materials Needed

To create your purple flower bouquet, you’ll need a selection of purple flowers, complementary flowers, greenery, floral tape, scissors, and a vase or wrapping paper.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Flowers: Trim the stems at an angle and remove any leaves that will be below the water line.
  2. Start with greenery: Begin arranging the greenery in your hand to form a base.
  3. Add Purple Flowers: Insert the purple flowers into the arrangement, spacing them evenly.
  4. Incorporate Other Colors: Add the complementary flowers to fill in gaps and add contrast.
  5. Secure the Bouquet: Wrap floral tape around the stems to secure the arrangement.
  6. Finish with Wrapping or a Vase: Place the bouquet in a vase or wrap it in decorative paper for a polished look.

2024.05.17 06:08 Moist_Possibility128 I need more games that let me express my creativity

I got into that creative mood ever since spring started and i wanna match that mood in the games I play. I'm currently playing Furnish Master because it lets me design and decorate rooms down to the smallest detail, and it's a really fun way to relax and do something creative while not having to invest too much energy into it. I'm also playing Final Factory because designing highly complex automated systems brings a special kind of joy to me. It's like creating your own little worlds where all parts work together perfectly to create something grandiose (I'm looking at you, Leibniz).
The general idea is to find more games like these 2 where I can just pull the cover off my creative funnel and let it all fly. Genre is not important, I'm open to trying anything.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.17 05:59 isawthreecities I miss the old you.

Dear former friend,
Before we begin, for my safety, please do not share this letter with anyone else. This is a private message. Just between you and me. \[that I ended up posting to Reddit, yeah.\]
I honestly am not sure how to begin this letter, but I just wanted to get this off my chest before the end of the year. I miss you. I don’t miss the current you that I see every day at school: the loud, rude, and brash you who has become infamous for all the wrong reasons, I miss the old you. The beautiful, smart, driven, old you. The person I met at the beginning of the year.
You had goals and ambitions. You cared deeply about others and you smiled warmly with your friends. For someone like me, afraid and alone in a new environment, you were the best glimmer of hope I could find. I got to know you more. You were passionate (but not rude or confrontational) and creative. You were outgoing and friendly. You were wise and sociable. Everything you did seemed like it was commissioned by the stars. Even in times of trouble and fear, you stood up proudly and acted with maturity and grace.
In the fall, things were going wonderfully, I was introduced to some of your friends, and your partner at the time seemed like a nice person. We spoke frequently, and we shared dreams, experiences, and plans. You had a promising future. You had a profession in mind, and you were determined to make your dream a reality. You worked hard, and your grades proved it. You were generally seen as a good student, a good person, and a good friend. You were involved in many extracurricular activities, and you contributed a great deal in all of them. In my eyes, you were perfect. Everything I had ever wanted and more.
Then, and slowly at first, something changed. I partially blame myself. I hadn’t properly spoken up sooner. Someone new confessed their feelings to you. You two began dating. That was fine, you deserved to be happy. Problem is, for some unknown reason, possibly related to your new partner, possibly not, you began changing. Subtly at first. You began removing yourself from me. I, not understanding what was happening, just tried to reach out more. I was, and still am, an attention-starved kid. Love is all I had ever wanted, whether that be romantic or platonic. A bit of difficulty didn’t sway me a bit.
You began venting to me about your problems. Family issues, self-esteem problems. This, of course, broke my heart. You in pain was the last thing I wanted to see. I tried to help, to give advice. You shrugged it off and ignored me. After that came the personality changes. The mature, intelligent person I had once loved completely flipped. It was at the winter formal that I realized that I simply couldn’t feel the same way toward someone who was so different. But, the memories still remain. The you who I once knew still lives on in my mind, for me to love and adore just as before. I suppose I blame myself for the switch. I simply didn’t speak up sooner. I could have circumvented everything. I didn’t because I was afraid. You can tell by the anonymous nature of this letter that I still am. You know who I am though. That’s what matters.
Our last true conversation was at an event. I said something rude to you in order to get my anger and frustration out, and you responded with one single word. I deserved it. You pointed out my own narcissistic tendencies. I admit I have those flaws. It all is just the result of self-loathing. Self-loathing for so many reasons. But this isn’t about me, it’s about you. The lunch incident and the bus situation just further confirmed that the old you was gone. That hurts a lot. But then, I think about the times when I see the tiny glimpses of the aforementioned old you. I think that they still exist, but are hidden. Hidden behind the guards you put up in order to achieve what you thought was the only love you could receive. I’m not saying that I want you to completely reset yourself and leave who you’re with, of course not. I simply wanted to tell you all this. Let out all of the feelings I had kept bottled up for too long. It seems misfortune follows me constantly. I will go my way and you will go yours, but I want you to remember what I was trying to tell you all along: You don’t have to alter your path for anyone, your own passions, your own heart, and your own ethics will lead you to happiness and fulfillment. Stick by your true self, whoever that is.
[the toxic doomed yuri that never actually existed lmao]
