Gday guys! I’ve got a 96 ek hatch that just recently had the little plug that sits in the brake pedal to stop the brake light always being on break. I’ve replaced it with an old nut and screw from my old license plate but have been told to replace it properly before going in for a new wof. Problem is, I have no clue what this part is called or how to explain it online in a way that gives me useful results… would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? I’m so grateful for this reddit group! As an absolute rookie when it comes to cars and a brand new Honda lover, you guys have always been able to provide clear, concise and banterous replies that give me so much motivation to work on my baby. I’ve had my KJ Classic I for 10 years and have done many successful cooks with it, including brisket, pork butt, pizza, etc. But I’m always looking to improve my game. In the last few years I’ve added a charcoal basket and a slo roller, and replaced an old CyberQ controller with a FireBoard (still using the Pit Viper fan.) What’s on my mind now is optimizing my techniques for building a fire with lump charcoal and using wood to add smoke.
Building the Fire
For years I would start with a rough square of large lumps of charcoal on the grate and build a “volcano” on top and around them, leaving the a hole in the center. This allowed me to aim the nozzle of my butane fire starter at the lumps on the bottom so that the fire would burn from the bottom up. There were two minor problems with this technique: 1) as I added charcoal around the base of the volcano, it was hard to keep the vent holes in the firebox clear, and 2) for really long cooks, piling on a lot of charcoal could make the center of the volcano fall in on itself. Nevertheless, this technique worked pretty well.
The basket solved the vent hole problems and made building the fire really easy. It works quite well to dump a bunch of lump into it and light it from the top. That said, my first basket was the Smokeware basket that’s made of sheet steel with holes punched into it. I haven’t been happy with airflow, and quite a bit of ash builds up in the bottom, I think because there aren’t enough holes to let it drop down to the ash tray. I’ve since replaced it with a Kick Ash basket. Haven‘t used it yet. The instructions say you can light the coals from the top, but also recommend an alternate method of putting some coals in the bottom with a couple of fire starters, and once the starters get going adding more charcoal. The fire burns from the bottom up, which they say keeps the ash from dropping down through the bed of coals. I like this idea, but would prefer to use my butane fire starter to light the coals in the bottom before adding more charcoal. Is there a reason why Kick Ash recommends fire starters? Any reason I can’t use the torch?
Adding Wood
Over the years, I’ve experimented with adding wood chunks while building the volcano, so they’d be roughly in the middle, or piling chunks on top of the volcano, or both. The concern I’ve had is that much of the smoke from the wood is released while the KJ is heating up and stabilizing (I like to give it at least an hour to get to temp and settle down.) I understand that the meat absorbs the most smoke early in the cook, so I don’t want to burn up the wood too early. I’d love to be able to add wood an hour or so after the meat has been on the KJ, but that’s hard to do. I have to remove meat from one of the half-grills, lift out the half-grill, pull out the drip pan, take off the slo-roller deflection plate, put chunks of wood on the fire, then put it all back together. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had tears flooding out of my eyes from the smoke when I do this! The difficulty of adding charcoal or wood to the KJ is the only downside to what I think is a fantastic smoker.
I saw that Smoking Dad BBQ adds wood a couple of ways: 1) when using a basket, he arranges the leftover charcoal and puts a small split or a couple of chunks in the middle, then covers all that with fresh charcoal, lighting from the top, or 2) he puts a small split in the ash tray behind the bottom vent door. I tried the first method recently but when the fire got down to the wood the pit temp rose 25-50 degrees for more than an hour. And by that time it might have been too late to add smoke to the meat. If I light from the bottom, the wood will catch right away, but too much of it might burn off before the KJ gets up to temp and stabilizes. I haven’t tried the second method. I‘m a little concerned that wood in the ash tray will block air flow. Also, it seems to me that unless I build the fire from the bottom, it’ll take a long time to get to the wood in the tray, perhaps too late to add smoke to the meat (and possibly spiking the temp as described above.) But if I build the fire from the bottom, the wood may catch too soon and may be gone by the time I get the meat on.
Maybe these questions are more important: Is the thick white smoke given off when the wood catches fire what we want, or is that smoke too dirty? Or, do we want to burn the wood for a while until it becomes more charcoal-like and puts off cleaner smoke? If the latter is true, then maybe it’s best to burn the wood right away, while the KJ is heating up and stabilizing, so that it’ll put off clean smoke when the meat goes on and the pit temp won’t spike later on.
One more question: I’ve been looking at a source of wood that sells 3”x3” chunks and 3”x6” splits. I’ve always used chunks. Would larger pieces like the 3”x6” splits produce smoke longer?
I realize many will think I’m hopelessly OCD about this, but that’s me in practically all things — especially brisket! I’d appreciate any advice from those of you who have successfully dealt with these issues.

Hello, I recently built my pc a couple weeks ago and up until this week I haven’t had this problem. My pc shuts off on its own when I’m using it.
Some times I could play a game for hours no problem and other times it won’t be 5 minutes until it shuts off.
Once I try to boot it up after it shuts down the Ram lights only come on or it boots up again with the cpu light on motherboard. My temps are fine I’m not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated!

 | So the wife and I are driving from Phoenix, AZ to San Diego, CA with our 2 year old for his 2nd birthday. (What a great start to the Fxxxin weekend). 6 hour drive roughly. We had 40 mins left in our drive till we got to our hotel just cruising at about 70mph on the 8 fwy and thilen BING check engine light comes on. Mind you the last 40 mins im in hills and canyons so absolutely no service, no where to stop or anywhere to check whats wrong so had no choice but keep pushing Trans temp, oil temp, oil pressure, oil level, battery all ok according to the dash. Didn't drive rough at all, nothing changed, truck was as if everything was the same except, check engine light on now. Finally got out the canyon and stopped at a auto zone just to make sure we were not gona have to rent a car home b.c guess what? WE NEED THE TRUCK FOR THE WEEKEND TO and it's all we have.... so the code pulled was was 219A (also have an attachment for reference to see). Got to hotel and looked under hood but was too hot obviously to check and its dark now so hard to see. Now From what I've read it could be many things? But my main question is just, will I be able to get through my sons birthday weekend and get my family home safe? That's all I care about. Hey all,
Put a new build together about 2 months ago. This was my first AM5/DDR5 build.
Specs:
Ryzen 7 7700x MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi Corsair Vengeance 32gb (16gbx2) 5600 C36 Radeon 7800xt
About a week ago I started getting random shutdowns, event log showed possible USB issues so I didn’t think anything of it and just D/Ced unnecessary stuff. Temps were great, and did a fresh install assuming it was just random bugs.
Then it started taking a while to Post- showing CPU and DIMM bios lights before finally booting, found that could be memory training and let it ride. Then today it stopped posting period and would sit with those lights. A little digging had me thinking I had a bad batch of C36 RAM, but more slot testing and I found DIMM A2 is the culprit that was erroring out.
I’m running memtest now on each stick individually and so far it’s looking fine. I plan on begrudgingly getting a new mobo in the next month(MSI really hasn’t been my favorite), but as a stop gap do yall see anything terribly wrong with using A1 and B1 until then? Assuming A1 isn’t just as screwed as A2 that is…

I have a tomato frog, currently I use a heat lamp on top and heating pad under the tank, I am buying a misting system to keep humidity up, but I want a better method to keep up temp. I feel like the pad doesn't do much and I'm not sure the light fmdoes either.

Wanted to limit RGB system bloat, and I was terrified of tearing down my GPU and the pre-applied pads were a good incentive. Been quite happy with it. After about 30 minutes of figuring out if I could be sneaky and replace all the fans without draining the loop, I drained the loop... At 100% they are very loud. Maybe it's more that the SP120's weren't the highest performing fans so that made them more quiet. I hope that running these at a lower RPM will continue to give me good cooling. Running them at 60% and they aren't much louder than my SP120s at the same speed. Some things I liked: Install was quite easy. Everything went together well, and the included cord with the starter set was very long. I am very thankful Corsair thought to send some of the 200mm adapters. I was able to not have all the fans on the same channel of the Link hub as a result. the 200mm cable does go quick though. Linking the fans together was easy, and those new quick turn fan screws were great where I was able to use them. ICUE recognized everything right away and did a firmware update to the Link hub with no issues. One small issue I had with the configuration wizard. It lit up the fans so you knew which was which, but some of the colors were so similar it was still tough to tell which was which. I ended up having to play with individual fan speeds to figure out which was which. Fan curves were easy to set up, and lighting was also easy to set up. Visually the fans are nice. I like that the back of the fans have just a nice logo rather than all the text like the SP120s had. They look nice from the back. The little side light things I'm kind of indifferent on. I kind of wish they came with a solid black plate. I would have probably just lit up the "Corsair" one on the top center fan. Some negatives (more just some annoyances) I get that the whole iCUE link system is meant to replace their old system, but that said, I was let down to have to do this. Was able to ditch the built in fan and RGB hubs that came with my 5000X case. But I had to keep the Commander Core XT in there just to control the pump and HydroX lighting. That big thing just for those few components seems like a waste. I thought the 2 prong port on the Link hub would work for the temperature sensor, but it's a different size. When I do a new build I will probably stick with Corsair and probably go with Link parts, and then I can ditch the Core, but it would have been nice for my stuff not to be obsolete already (even just a small HydroX adapter that gives the Pump header, RGB port and Temp port would be great for keeping old stuff current and maximizing space). Physical compatibility annoyances aside, everything does play nice together in iCUE. I also would have liked to see the Link hub power cord be longer longer. Instead of routing the PCIe cord up to connect to the short little thing, I would have been nice to have it long enough to tuck down with the rest of the wires. I am going to guess this was a safety thing. Have it too long and people might plug it right into the PSU. All in all pretty happy with them so far. Don't have any measuring equipment, but temperatures playing the same game do seem to be lower (I did do a repaste of the GPU and CPU, but the previous paste looked just fine) when I run it at similar decibel level to my old fans. So thanks Corsair for running this contest. Even without the great consolation prize, I think this is a really cool event and look forward to seeing what the winners put together. |

Hey all! I recently built a new PC, I’ve built a few before, but this one is giving me trouble. It will boot to windows, then randomly, but more commonly under load, it will just shut off. The only critical event showing is that the system stopped unexpectedly. Then, even if you hit the power button it will not turn back on. You have to power cycle the power supply to do so, then sometimes it will try to boot and shut down without even making it to bios. This is my first build with pretty good specs in it, so I’d love to get it working and get to gaming. Thank you!
Some things I’ve tried are: Disabling XMP profiles Disabling PBO enhancement Reseating and swapping ram/gpu Running sfc /scannow
Notes: Speaker does not output a noise when failing to boot. CPU has a max temp of 38celcius. All games run amazingly until crash. Does it with one stick of ram in. Seems to get stuck on the red dram light then crashes.

Description of Original Problem:
I built this new PC in February of this year. Things seemed fine at first, and I ran the RAM at the stock EXPO profile. Tried to run some stock profile overclocks in the BIOS, where CO set a -20 voltage and TBJ is raised to 85C, but could not find a stable system so gave up on the CPU overclocks. I always monitored the cpu temps, they never went above 80C from what I could tell.
Computer seemed to run fine until earlier this month when I started experiencing symptoms nearly identical to this poster. Occasionally, on system restart, my computer gets stuck in memory training (motherboard lights show solid CPU, blinking DRAM, which according to the Asrock manual means memory training is occurring). When these lights are on, the computer will not post, even if left on all night. When stuck in the memory training bug, my rear exhaust fan will not spin while all others do, which strangely matches the linked post.
Troubleshooting:
Hard power button restarts do not fix the memory training issue. The only way to break the cycle is to either clear the CMOS or to remove a single stick of RAM, which allows the system to post and boot.
Ive tried the following and still had the issue occur:
The problem is, I do not know how to trigger the issue. I have ran the stress tests for hours and restarted with no problem. Then I will boot up Elden Ring, play without issues, and a restart will trigger the memory training. Sometimes playing Elden Ring and restarting will not cause the issue. So I am at a loss.
One thing, my RAM is not on the approved list provided on the ASROCK Livemixer page, so I suppose that could be an issue, but I am hesitant to go out and start buying new components. I have read MANY posts of people replacing many hardware components to still have the issue, so I want to avoid doing this. Seems to be a common problem with this 7800x3D CPU.
Is there anyway to test the hardware to find a faulty component? Unfortunately it has been several months since I bought the components, and I thought things were working fine so I no longer have the original boxes (I live in a small apartment so I did not want to keep them, a mistake nonetheless). Will I have any luck trying an RMA on the individual components? Anyone have experience on this after the fact? Not sure AMD would even accept the CPU, as I have enabled some overclocking and I assume they can tell when those settings are touched.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

- I have verified all connections are fully seated on the motherboard
- Removed CPU and inspected motherboard for bent pins
- BIOS update to second latest release
- Backed off CPU fan (Noctua nh-d15s) screws to relieve potential excessive motherboard pressure
- Successful no error Memtest86 runs
- Successful OCCT (core cycler and fixed)
- Prime95 without error
- Ran on both sticks of RAM alone, (have had the no boot issue occur on one stick alone, but not the other, not sure I tried this method long enough, suppose one stick could be faulty)

can you still flare on 60mg of prednisone? my rheum seems to think it’s impossible. i have pretty active SLE and class III crescentic lupus nephritis. about a month ago i had induction therapy with iv pulse solumedrol. i’m currently taking 400mg plaquenil, 2000mg cellcept, and 60mg prednisone. i’ve had some residual joint pain but overall feel a lot better. however, my period came on a couple days ago (after not having it for awhile) and i’ve started getting some of the mild early symptoms i had- red, hot, flushed cheeks and a low temp of 99. it doesn’t seem to be linked to light exposure. this is the second time i’ve told my doc that i don’t feel 110% on prednisone but because my biomarkers are moving in the right direction he doesn’t wanna hear it. basically my complements are normal so it’s not a flare is the message i’m getting from him. so, are these just “normal” residual symptoms? am i flaring? is it my period? am i losing my mind? i am changing rheums to a lupus specialty center thank god but i don’t see the new one until june so until then im not sure what to do

Hey guys, thanks for stopping by.
As the title states, I'm seeing if it's possible for anyone to identify if my pins could possibly be bent.
Back story:
I wasn't happy with my temps with my 2017 Corsair h100i so I purchased and installed a new CPU cooler (Peerless Assassin heatsink). I can link if needed..
After a smooth install, I press power button and all the components that are capable of displaying lights only light for a second.. accompanied by a red cpu debug light and then turns off and will do this repeatedly.
I look online and they mention things like reseating the cooleheatsink, using one stick of ram, checking connectors etc.. which I did to rule things out. Then I saw that they say the pins can be bent and they did seem bent as I installed the heatsink pretty tight and assumed that bent it.. because I literally only unscrewed my cooler and put a heatsink in.. I didn't need to disconnect anything or remove any connectors besides the cpu fan and pump.
I buy a new mobo and cpu and install that and everything goes smooth. I install the heatsink and didn't screw it in as tight... Press power button and the same exact issue is here. I am not sure if I still screwed it in too tight and messed up this board so this is where I'm at right now... I have built many computers for myself, work, and friends and rarely come across any issues where the computer wouldn't post. So I am stumped.

TLDR: I am thinking about drilling a hole in my fuel cap to prevent over pressurizing the system so that my check engine light doesn't come on during warm days.
So this happened to me again...temperatures warmed up to 20 degrees above normal and I went on a ride with a pretty good elevation change. I noticed some popping and afterfiring on deceleration. Midway through my ride, my check engine light came on. I took it straight home and then three days later, took it to my local shop. The light was still illuminated when I took I rode to the shop. Of course, the second I show the tech my issue, the check engine light turned off.
Apparently, the pressure buildup caused by the heat and elevation gain was enough to cause the O2 sensor to set off its alarm. Once the air temp went back to normal and I got back to sea level, everything was fine again. My dealer, whom I really trust and have a great relationship with, suggested I drill a small hole in the gas cap to allow for venting so the pressure in my system doesn't build up. He also recommended not to fill my fuel tank too high.
If venting is such an issue, then why aren't there any aftermarket caps with vents and why don't they come standard when you buy a new Vespa? I haven't drilled a hole in the cap, but I loosened it with the hopes that the seal isn't so tight as to cause the system to be over pressurized.
I'm just wondering if anyone had the same issue, and what they did to resolve it.
