6l6 transmitter

Hello all,

I am currently studying for my tech and gen tickets. I just lucked into a Collins R-391 receiver and a Gonset GSB-100 Transmitter. I need tubes, a vintage microphone, test equipment, baluns, and wire. All items are untested and sold as is. I also need funds for parts.

I was considering using a 110-220 voltage converter like the Simran AC-100 in front of a rectification circuit to run 200+ on the plate of a 6L6 cw transmitter circuit. It's $15 versus around $60 for a proper transformer. Can it be that simple or am I missing something? 72 de KC1BBC
