Why does the top of my banana bread taste funny?
Recipe:
2 large ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
¼ cup melted butter
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
And I baked it in a cake pan because I don't have loaf pans.
It turned out great except the top. I don't know how to describe the taste though. I hear people have had problems with baking soda that wasn't mixed properly, resulting in pockets of bad taste, but this seems even across the top, and the rest is completely fine once you take the top off.
I also found someone saying baking powder is better for white sugar. But people also say don't try to substitute them. I dunno.
Does anyone know why it turned out this way?

just got my IgG food sensitivity test results and i was wondering if anyone has advice they’d like to share. i’m highly reactive to yeast apparently and moderately reactive to oats, egg white, blackberries, chia seeds, bananas, blueberries, lemon, wheat, and a bunch of other things. feeling really defeated since yeast is in pretty much everything i love to eat. i’m a huge carb person. i have adhd and am already kindve a picky eater and im struggling to come to terms with the fact that feeding myself is about to be 10x harder than it already is 🙃
for breakfast i’ll usually eat an everything bagel sandwich with egg, gouda, turkey bacon and green onion. and if not that, i’ll eat oatmeal with blackberries and chia seeds 🤦🏼‍♀️ i also cut out dairy milk awhile ago and switched to oatmilk, considering dairy is inflammatory and i have some stubborn acne im trying to get rid of; so i feel like that was counterproductive. anyone have any creamy milk alternative suggestions that pair well with espresso? any high protein breakfast recommendations?
i need to eliminate pretty much all of the things i eat on a regular basis. if anyone has any advice/tips on how to keep up with eating healthy or if you have any easy recipe suggestions i’d appreciate it. any go-to snack suggestions?? shortcuts for getting in nutrients? anything helps

Hey guys! I hardly ever bake and when I do it's the simplest of things. But I'm looking to make an array of cupcakes for me and my boyfriend's anniversary, and wanted any tips you may have or recipes based on what my ideas are so far!
Vanilla bean and vodka Banana pudding Peach cobbler French toast (possibly able to be reheated) Zero sugar spiced coke? Red Bull or Celsius? Brownie
Okay so above I just implemented some things he likes, some things he's never tried etc. I want the french toast cupcakes to be able to be reheated and I'll add a glaze or something on the side that can be applied after!
I want to do this as cost efficient as possible and i don't want dozens of cupcakes or lots of batter leftover. What is leftover I'll of course donate but any ideas/tips/recipes are welcome. And where's the most cost efficient place to buy what's needed? Also would making batter from scratch be easy and more efficient than just buying a box?

I hardly ever see recipes in this sub so I thought I’d share. I was inspired by a recipe I saw on TikTok for a microwaved mug cake, it didn’t taste bad but the texture and appearance were not good and I figured it would come out better if properly baked.
My goal was to make something with a lot of protein that I didn’t have to choke down like a protein bar. The recipe yields two large muffins, or three regular size. They come out cakey and they’re quite filling. Each muffin has 224 calories and just under 22g protein.
You can find the recipe in a Google doc here.
You can swap out banana for an equal amount of different fruit, I’ve tried cherries, strawberries, and apple with good results for all. If you’re not too worried about calories you can add chocolate chips but just half a teaspoon of chips per muffin will add 40 calories each.

I discovered this recipe in my cooking video files on Tuesday, and decided to make it on Wednesday. This is SO easy!
2Tbsp - Sugar
2 Tbsp - Cocoa Powder
1/2 tsp - Baking Powder
1 Egg
2 Tbsp - Heavy Whipping Cream
1/2 tsp - Vanilla Extract
Add everything in the order listed. The cocoa powder will need to be sifted so you don't get clumps of bitter chocolate powder in your cake. Mix all the ingredients into a batter. Pour batter into an oiled microwavable bowl or mug. Make sure the inside of your bowl/mug is thoroughly coated in oil or it won't release when you turn it over. If you plan on just eating it from the bowl/mug then it's not quite as important. Also, make sure your bowl/mug is in the center of the microwave or it won't rise evenly.
45 seconds in my microwave gave me a delicious lava cake. 1 minute 10 seconds gave me an actual cake. Your times may vary depending on your microwave.
I'm stopping off at the grocery store for raspberries when I get off work in the morning to see if adding a few will be as yummy as I think it will be. I might even try banana or peanut butter too...
Oh... and it's gluten free! Not my thing so I really don't care, but I know that's important to some people. So, I thought I'd mention it.

I found this recipe on Twitter from @roblipsett. It’s delicious, easy, and has fantastic macros.
-2.5 cups fairlife non-fat milk -2 scoops Ghost Cinnabon flavored protein powder -1 large banana, ripe / aged
Blend all in the creami pint with an immersion blender. Freeze 12-24 hours. Remove, defrost for 5-10 minutes, run the outside pint under some hot water, then spin on “ice cream”. When done, hit re-spin on “ice cream”.
Total Macros:
620 calories, 91g protein, 57g carbs, 2g fat *Milk: 39g p, 18g c, 240cal Banana: 2g p, 31g c, 120 cal Protein Powder: 50g p, 8g c, 260 cal
Note: milk calories / macros might be a hair less as I originally made this with 3 cups milk

I have about 4-5 productive banana pepper plants that have about half a dozen fruits. I want to wait until enough grow in to do an effective batch. I need about 1.25 pounds with to get 1-2 half pint jars.
They are currently still on the plant but I know they will not last forever there. Would they be fine being thrown in the freezer until I need to process them.
I am using a sweet hot pepper recipe so they are going in sliced not whole.

Hi all- looking to see if the following daily routine is ok. Tbh I probably only do this routine 3 times a week when I actually have time.
  1. Cetaphil gentle face cleanser
  2. Dr Brandt microdermabrasion scrub
  3. Biologique Recherce Lotion P50 chemical exfoliator liquid on a cotton pad
  4. CEO Sunday Riley 15% vitamin C brightening serum
  5. Just added in: Good genes by Sunday Riley all in one lactic acid treatment [not sure if I should keep this or if it’s too much]
  6. Glow recipe pomegranate firming serum
  7. Tatcha dewy skin cream
  8. Ole Henrikson banana bright eye cream with vitamin C and collagen
Is all of the above ok together? Is this too much? It’s been working well for me for probably a year or longer … not sure if the Good Genes by Sunday Riley is adding too much.
My skin type is combination with a very oily T zone, and I have huge huge visible pores. Not a ton of wrinkles yet. The pores/sebaceous filaments in my nose and chin are unfortunately genetic I think. Everyone in my family has had them. I’ve tried sulfur face wash etc and nothing changes.

Hello! I am trying to add brewers yeast to a banana recipe I have to create a lactation friendly snack. The recipe is rather simple and produces a yummy result and I have all the ingredients, so I'd love to make this work. How would I add in the brewers yeast and how much? Also would I need to make any changes if I wanted to make these in a muffin tin?
Recipe: Bowl 1: combine 2-3 ripe bananas 1 cup white sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup melted butter Bowl 2: combine 1 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt Combine I use a glass loaf pan and bake at 325 for 1 hour.
