Hi guys! This last year has put me into ultimate survivor-man mission. From Covid-19 (lockdown) April 2020, to present… this is my timeline.
April 2020 - divorced and closed on a 50,000.00$ house in my hometown, out of work. Had just finished training, absolutely no income or ability to enter into a new field of work. April 2021 - list the house for 120,000.00$ and rent in original city, ex partner demands I move back to where he is and petitions for custody due to “having moved without permission,” previous place of employment shuts down in original city but I get hired at another shop. I resume education and work in Olympia. 2021-2022, ex-partner continues to force court proceedings and becomes completely abusive, death threats, stalking, new girlfriend that’s a stripper. Money goes towards rent, court, and lawyers fees.
House prices are climbing, landlords are refusing to renew leases due to wanting to sell their properties for double what it would’ve been. Never late on rent, never evicted, always paid in full.
Car accident, two loans taken out, and a car loan - all within those two years.
I’m left essentially almost homeless, I try to move back home and even though it wasn’t an option, I ask if I could stay for a couple of months. She agrees and then fights so viciously with her boyfriend, dragging me into it and kicking me out each time.
Friends are struggling. I find a survival partner to stay with, that works. We all come in “polycules” now in the city. That half worked. I am just super desperate for that independence and environment that I once had.
I now have stacked up debt, and I’m spending the last of my money on opening an Etsy shop.
In the middle of couch surfing.
No credit, no loan options, and previous work license shut down for tax liens because taxes were done improperly.
What a process. In the mean time I’ve been assaulted twice physically (horribly) and that was my mother’s boyfriend.
My dad passed away when I was 21, he would’ve never imagined my mom’s decisions afterward. I consider myself totally without a family unit.
My exes wealthy and investor mom provided him with 6k per month, credit, insurance, purchased him a home and then suggested he stay in court with me, buying him all of his lawyers and that down payment.
He has the kids, a house, income no matter what, and has been picking apart my every little thing for 4 years now. He believes I have hidden accounts and recently claimed that my 25$ purse is worth 8$ which he wants.
I have NOTHING. He wants more and more. I started Uber, on foot. Because I can’t pay for car insurance. And my car was broken into and torn apart.
This is fun. I have finally had just enough time to get an Etsy shop going with some inventory. My hope is that I can have safe enough housing soon to maintain. This is such an embarrassing time, and I’m stalked and insulted by him usually any time I go forward.
My house? I was so excited. He said it was dirty, ugly, and that I looked like an idiot for even trying.
He said he would see to it that I’m dead or homeless and it’s been extremely distressing. It kind of seems like he really knew what he was doing there to try and motivate this whole outcome. Life is weird.

Long term share would mean we basically take turns buying the games we both want. For example I would buy Star Wars Outlaws and you buy Assassins Creed Shadows, the next game after that I would buy and so on. Thats for typical full price games. Ok, new pass and it looks like the Schill alone is worth it. However, I'm on a limited budget and I already have the Mainz, so I'm covered with a German premium cruiser. (although it's a light cruiser)
However, the ships at 30 are either the Erich Loewenhardt or the Black Bayern. I don't own a premium CV yet, so I'm leaning towards the Erich Loewenhardt (when I buy the pass), but with the cirrenmt nerf of CVs (spotting limited to fighters) and a fighterless CV named after a fighter ace... sounds like a bad idea.
Can anybody give me opinions on either ships in the current situation? DeathFromAbove has a vid on it, but that's pre nerf.

Context: My husband and I have been married for almost 8 years. We have two young children and I am 37 weeks pregnant. I full time 40 hours a week and come home very late at night as it is a Twilight midnight shift. My husband has his own business that's up and down. 70 percent of our house is under construction for remodeling which my husband does mostly himself and I help where I physically can. It takes a lot of money and work. The kitchen isn't ready still which will be really important to have when the baby comes to safely make found and clean bottles etc.
We moved here in a rush because my husband's PTSD is triggered by the town we lived by. Into that my husband has PSTD because of a whole complicated situation that happened two years ago where I lied a I had been raped and blackmailed by an ex but was trying to handle it by myself and no I didn't trust my husband at the time and we had a terrible relationship so I was admittedly absolutely stupid and tried to handle the situation myself and then just came clean and it all exploded. My husband is an EXTREMELY trusting person so that's basically ruined our relationship and no matter what I do it's not improving trust by a ton so I basically live by clearing activities with him and constantly updating him on everything I'm doing and have a constant location on me... No the point but His trust in people is 100% related. He's been burned by other people before and he keeps trust in others ESPECIALLY his guy friends.

Other related context: I've had a lot of death in my life in the past few years. Namingly about 2 years ago my brother committed suicide sadly and just last year a friend from work also committed suicide. Others in my family have passed away from health related reasons.
So story time. Today I'm having a major mental health struggle, feeling trapped (partially from my husband telling me to come home instead of going out with some friends from work which happens about every week ... I don't really see many people unless he gets to supervise.), and I just was struggling. Hormones probably. I tried to text him about it but I brushed it off saying maybe it'll pass and then he lets me know one of his friends tried to commit suicide last week and he's okay physically. I sympathized and he didn't say much after but talked about other stuff. Anyways he gets home from his guys get together and announced his friend has to stay with someone and move out of his sister's house. He says a friend with a stable home and no kids said he would but wants to discuss it with his wife first. I say oh that's great! Then he says that he volunteered our house if his friends can help him build a wall to make a bedroom for his friend. And tells me they said they would. I was kinda shocked that he just made this decision without me and wasn't asking me but seemed to be telling me. It'll cost $600 or more and we would have to buy a bed for him then I'll have to move all that stuff somewhere else but everything is already crowded in there from the kitchen. I don't know what I'll do with those things. He just says yeah and walks out of the room. I don't know when this is, how long, anything about his schedule, if he's eating our food, or what any of this entails. It's just adding to our list and I wasn't even thought of or consulted. I think about these concerns and questions for a bit (20 minutes) and come out and I ask: when you were talking about ___ staying with us, were you informing me or consulting me? He sarcastically says informing, laughs, then goes on to say it we didnt because of me I'm a horrible person or an evil person (yes those words). I asked if he thought his other friend who is consulting his wife is evil because she might decline and he said "she might be!" I was shocked. I kept trying to explain that as a partnership and with my background and current state (preggers) I think it's definitely appropriate to consult me and for us to talk about any concerns or obstacles. He starts calling me manipulative and a terrible person and say I help no one (I did help a friend who was homeless a couple years ago when we had a different house where she could stay and I help his sisters and mom once a month at least but oh well). He also doesn't count my job in that. Then he starts calling me a liar randomly and calls me horrible again. I said I am feeling really cornered in this that if I feel uncomfortable I am apparently evil but if I say yeah I'm good with it I'm a liar. I was crying pretty bad (hormones mixed with the situation) and he kept telling me to leave and go to work but I was trying to work it out. I do this research of humanity's philosophy earliest sources and read through Plato's works again and again. It's amazing and I want to share some "shower thoughts" about Plato. Couldn't imagine I would say like that ever. But it will be a small input into Fermi paradox discussion. First I'll tell you a short story from the ancient times and at the end I'll give you new interesting reason why some Intelligent Life forms all over the world might be extremely introvert and solipsistic and not technically developed. Why there might be Intelligent civilizations but they never reach essential technical and philosophical progress. Here goes:

Have you heard about Theuth? The ancient philosopher who sort of “invented” main sciences earlier than 7000 years ago. During the times 100-200 years before Ancient Kingdom of Egypt.
That info comes from Plato's dialogue "Protagoras." In the dialogue, Socrates recounts a tale about Protagoras meeting with a king named Amanthus. During this meeting, Protagoras tells the king a story about a mythical figure named Teuth or Theuth (sometimes spelled as Thoth or Thouth), who was a deity associated with writing, wisdom, and knowledge in ancient Egyptian mythology.

When reading original "Protagoras" you can find interesting dialogue of the King Amanthus and Theuth. You are wrong. By writing down the real knowledge we all keep inside our minds now, by taking it out of your head and your real experience, you will give birth to “wise men” that got their knowledge from written texts, they really know nothing about real life, their knowledge will become useless, and they will lose the true connection with gods. So you think you bring goodness by that, but you only make people loose real believes and knowledge.”
Now a new thought why some civilizations from other star systems might never reach our level of development:
Becoming complex and developed, people are still focused on real knowledge of "here and now", "See it with your own eyes" living only "now" moment and having only a personal "bag" of knowledge in their heads. Almost for 10k of years ancient humans lived developed society style, but without using any good written symbol language. Complex rituals and social activity was ruled buy structure that still passed from parents to children directly "in motion" without distortion on the way.
By becoming "wise" by writing books and computer codes we opened a "demon box" of eternal knowledge and opportunities but we are doomed to have a lot of "fake" "false" "disguised" knowledge, events and information around us that we can never be sure for 100% to be real. Though partially this info brings you benefits if you work it out enough and you are lucky enough.
Maybe a lot of "wiser" that us aliens on other planets already understood that "extra knowledge" brings this stress of creating a goal to become God. (know all) Maybe they chose to live happily without inventing printed word and alphabets. So they have no signals to send to us. Like humanity did for thousands of years before some crazy mushroomed guys started to draw symbols on those stones and caves.
Maybe our written and spoken language is a type of interdenominational parasite that occupies the mind of "good feeling fella" and makes him create all this stupid dramatic life stories to feed with its energy or something like that.
And in this world there are. lot of conscious life forms but they all are born in balance with nature, and only guys like us with story creating parasites in our heads start to develop technically for maybe a single reason: to blow up the world. And this infected types of developed civilizations are much less represented in the world. That's why Fermi paradox.

2024.06.02 08:26 moukiez WiFi and Bluetooth keep disabling themselves, shows no networks, and laptop freezes and has trouble turning on/restarting properly, all since yesterday.

I'm at my wit's end, hopefully someone can help me resolve this issue. I apologize for the deluge of text you're about to read.
My laptop is an Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel CC715-71, running Windows 11 Pro. I got it late 2020 I believe, and aside from the sound no longer working a few months in and the finger print sensor saying it can't recognize my fingerprint after like a handful of uses until I reset/re-register the fingerprints and anew, only for the process to repeat yet again, it's been perfect.
(I was living in Canada at the time and imported it from the States, so after all the hassle with customs, it wasn't worth jumping through all those hoops to send it back again, even if it was ridiculous that the sound and fingerprint sensor stopped working just a few months in for such an expensive device.)
Fast forward four years to yesterday, and it was working fine, but I went to the bathroom and came back, and suddenly the WiFi wasn't working. It was fine on every other device/phone/laptop/Steam Deck, but no matter what I did, the WiFi refused to connect.
In the past, I've had issues with this laptop being the only device to not connect to the WiFi network in this building, but now it's not detecting any networks. It claims the WiFi is on, but checking in the settings show it isn't. Clicking it on refuses to engage, either failing to do so, or looking like it complies before immediately turning itself off.
Then the WiFi icon/option would disappear entirely, and the Bluetooth did the same. I would find the Bluetooth setting in the Device Manager window when I enable "Show Hidden Devices", but I don't know how or why it was hidden.
My Network Adapter (Intel (R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201160MHz, I believe) would be disabled, and checking the Event tab in the Properties would say things like "Device not started (Netwtw10)" and "Device configured (oem91.inf)" and things like that.
I would try updating, downloading the latest drivers from Acer for my laptop using my phone and transfer it to my phone and try to install them, and sometimes it would say it installed and works, but other times it would say it detected the drivers I wanted to install but failed to install them.
I've tried disabling and enabling the driver, uninstalling and reinstalling it, deleting it and restarting the laptop to automatically get it again (not sure how it did so without the internet, but it would be there, every time), and doing the same for the Bluetooth driver.
Sometimes the WiFi would work for like all of a minute or two, before it would become disabled and find no networks and there would be an error with the driver and the event log saying things like the Device didn't start, and once or twice I think I saw it say "WiFi Device Cannot Start (code 10)".
At this point I was ready to give up and just use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop to connect to and call it a day until I could care enough again, but even that wasn't applicable, because that option for Mobile Hotspot was grayed out and said something about how I couldn't connect it no Ethernet or Wifi device connected. (Specifically, it says "We can't set up mobile hotspot because your PC doesn't have an Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular data connection.)
All through this, my laptop started being fucking weird in that if I clicked "restart", it wouldn't turn itself back on. I'd have to press the power button to do so, and even then, it often wouldn't. I've tried power cycling like three fucking trillion times, and it would never work consistently or turn on after I've let the lights blink several times or waited 30 seconds or 60 seconds or longer.
(Aaaaaaaand I suspected my WiFi would be a bitch again and so I tried to send what I've typed out on the laptop to my phone via Telegram (because typing all this on my phone was getting tedious), but of course, the WiFi went out the SECOND I tried. I was using the Mobile Hotspot option immediately just in case my normal WiFi network went out, but it still disabled itself and wouldn't stay online via Mobile HotSpot when the option was available/not grayed out like it is now.
So I'm going to have to save this wall of text as a text document or something and manually transfer it to my phone.)
I finally decided to do a system restore, selecting one from May 26th, and it took like 30 - 45+ minutes, and of course it didn't restart itself, but when I finally managed to find the right power cycle attempt to get it to turn on, my laptop said the system restore was a success.
Huzzah! It was working. For 30 minutes.

So I tried to download MalwareBytes on my phone, and it downloaded then I transferred it to my laptop, and of course it needed to connect to the internet to download the rest of itself, so it wasn't conducive to anything in this situation.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and I (foolishly) thought I had solved my WiFi/Bluetooth issues last night and was even feeling galvanized to try and open up the bottom of my laptop and see if the sound issue I've been avoiding dealing with/coping by using Bluetooth earbuds/headphones for the past four years was as simple as something being unplugged, so I went to get my strebito kit, which I see everywhere around me and in my vicinity, except of course (you guessed it) the one time in four years that I actually genuinely needed it :))))))))))))))))
I also got a BSOD today, and I think I glimpsed it saying something like "ACPI block management", but it was very quick so I can't be sure. I tried to google that, but the only ACPI answers I could see in relation to googling it for reddit solutions (lol I love that everyone has had a problem before and that there is invariably a reddit thread with that exact problem, situation, and solution) were in relation to ACPI BIOS errors, so it may have been that.
I tried accessing the BIOS (which took a lot and trial of error in power cycling because of how inconsistent it is that my laptop has been with turning on since yesterday). Of course, I had apparently previously set a BIOS password when trying to allow my laptop to boot into Batocera like a year or so ago, and I apparently am not intelligent enough to have had the foresight to write it down in a note or document on my phone, despite me knowing my ADHD/memory is garbagio, so I always make it a POINT to do so, because I don't trust my powers of recollection (and apparently, as evidenced by this instance, with good fucking reason!).
Of course, I forgot to mention that now my laptop freezes, including when I was writing up a majority of this thread in the aforementioned notepad, so now I can't even transfer it and have to re-type what few paragraphs I see (I had JUST scrolled down to make more distance between the bottom of the text and the document because I hate not having that visual buffer between the text and the bottom of the window, it makes me feel like the text is running out or more difficult to see/continue) on my phone anyways, so that was yet another obstacle. 🙃
So, to summarize:

Laptop's WiFi/Bluetooth keep disabling themselves and the Bluetooth keeps hiding itself, so not even the icon is visible. The WiFi can't find any networks, and refuses to turn on (even though it says it does when I toggle it), and when it's like this, I cannot connect via Mobile Hotspot either.
The laptop is being very peculiar about it restarting, only does so if I press the power again after it shuts down (despite me selecting restart), and even then, only sometimes. I keep having to power cycle it to try and find the perfect sweet spot to let go and have it actually turn on.
The laptop now freezes within 20 or so minutes, and stays that way until I restart the laptop.
Sometimes it tells me that a driver reinstall works, other times it says it doesn't.
The driver events say that the device did not start, and error 10.
The laptop showed a Blue Screen of Death today, and the error said "ACPI" followed by (what I think it was) "block management" or (what it probably was) "BIOS error".
I set a BIOS password that I do not remember.
I do not have access to my Strebito toolkit to open up the laptop, nor do I have money to take it to BestBuy Geek Squad or wherever does laptop repair.
My laptop speakers do not work, despite sound apparently playing based on the animation/sound waves playing in the sound settings when media is active, and stops when nothing is playing, leading me to believe maybe something has been unplugged for like 4 years internally.
(I have many a time tried to uninstall, reinstall, download, and update Realtek drivers, but no sound comes from my speakers.)
I managed to run MalwareBytes, and it said it found a Neshta virus in a CEMU/WiiU emulator I downloaded literally years ago in the CEMUHOOK.DLL file), which I assume was present even in the system restore done yesterday backed up from 6 days ago. Apparently there was also Yontoo adware. I have since quarantined them.
(I should perhaps also note I rarely if ever use CEMU, and certainly haven't within the past two years, if not longer. I just like having access should I do desire on a whim to play.)
The problems (aside from the missing sound) started just yesterday, when I was away from the computer briefly, so it's even more vexing because I wasn't there at the onset of the issue or saw what caused it.
I'm incredibly reticent to do a clean install/start from scratch because I have so much stuff I'd have to reconfigure and download and reinstall because I'm a very particular person, and that would be so insanely time-consuming, you don't even know. If there's anything short of nuking this laptop that can help resolve these issues, that's what I would like to find out. I'm aware this is not the optimal/best idea, but I'm willing to deal with that in the future.
I do not have access to the router, as this is a building and they handle the Wi-Fi.

Either the universe or my own hubris and ineptitude keep trying to humble me, so I require patience and assistance. Please. And thank you. 😭 Whatever steps, whatever instructions, as long as they're clear and step by step, I can provide whatever you might need to deduce what the issue is and what a solution might be.
Edit: Of course, as soon as I do everything in my power to try and get it done and finally admit defeat and resort to outside help from the community, the internet seems to be stable for the moment. I'm hesitant to turn off my laptop and restart again to see if that's still an issue.

Carlos (Action Figure)- a type of doll that is meant to be posed at all main joints (head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, sometimes the waist) and be able to hold the pose, doesn't have any interchangeable parts and typically depicts more masculine figures (commonly superheros and other rigid designs such as mech suits are used as a basis as skin tight suits and armor are easier to model around posable joints than loose clothing)
Akane (Nendoroid)- Nendoroids are a type of collectable figure produced by Good Smile that are smaller than a standard figure often depicting characters in a "chibi" style. Most models also come with multiple replaceable parts including face plates for different poses and expressions. Good Smile did also release a general accessories pack to add extra little pieces to put on the Nendoroids which does include different color cat ears
Junpei (Voodoo Doll) - I'm sure most people already know what this is, I haven't done a lot of research on voodoo dolls or the cultures that may have used them so I don't want to say anything incorrect so imma say Google it in your own time if you wanna go in depth. This being used for Junpei is more than definitely a reference to the "For you" June doll in 999
Sean (Matryoshka)- also called a variety of names including Russian Nesting dolls, stacking dolls, and tea dolls. They were created with the intention of helping kids learn to count. Symbolically is used to represent a number of things including fertility, continuation of life, and less often; someone who is "two-faced" or has secrets.
Mira (dress up doll)- the image used in game most closely resembles a Bratz doll. Dress up dolls usually also have posable joints but the range of points of articulation varies greatly between specific models. The different outfits you can buy with them can be made from cloth and closed with velcro or be made from rubber with an open seam to slip on and off. Definitely made to be played with in a ton of scenarios that kids may come up with
Eric (baby doll)- this one doesn't require much explanation. Baby dolls were initially designed in the 1800s with ceramic heads and limbs attached to stuffed cloth torsos to be a part of "imaginative play" to give kids a more cuddly doll to use as a pretend baby instead of other common dolls that were completely made from hard material with no articulation. Sigma (Nutcracker)- a number of jokes could be made here but I will refrain. Typically associated with the Christmas season and can be used to open nuts with harder shells but using their jaws. Original german Nutcrackers were designed off of people of power to give the common folk enjoyment of the idea of making the powerful work for them by "making them crack their 'hard nuts of life.'" Nutcrackers did not become associated with the Christmas season until they were used in the ballet "The Nutcracker" that opened the week before Christmas in 1892 and became massively popular in the 1940s when it started to be performed outside Russia. Nutcrackers are also used to represent good luck and frightening away evil spirits.
Zero II's doll found on a piece of paper in the Pod room looks to basically be a cloth or rag doll which can be used to symbolize a limp person who is unable to do anything (example: being paralyzed or in a vegetative state) which could be a little itty bitty hind sight nod to Delta spending all of Dcom and the decision game in the wheelchair believed to be incommunicable with before being outed as Zero II.

2024.06.02 07:55 FauxWolfTail I earned the title "Evilest DM in Town".

Long story, but let me give a quick explanation; I am part of a local D&D group for a small town, where I currently run 3 different capaigns, one for a group of preteens, a group of adults, and a group of seior citizens who have been playing their campaign since 1st Edition (I was offered to take over when their DM passed away in '21, and I fear this campaign will keep on going until I am in the retirement home). This story is from the Adult group.
Now, a while ago, I read a reddit post that explained how a DM was using gummy bears and candy as monster pieces, treating the players who deal the final blow with eating said piece of candy. Inspired by this, I added into my gameworld a chaotic god who is corrupting the land, turning people and creatues into evil twisted candy, that the party needs to either save or put down.
Earlier in May, I got my hands on something special, one that I know the party would lilove to tear into.
Now, the party (Ancient Paladin, Totem Barbarian, Life Cleric, Assasin Rogue, and Divi Wizard(the poor victim)) are all lvl9, but they are right on the edge of reaching Lvl10. Their current mission: reach the bottom of an ancient temple that may hold a weapon that once sealed the chaitic god. However, they are aware that the corruption has reached this temple, as they fight thru hordes of gummy worms to the center of the temple, where they find the big boss: a corrupted Guardian Naga, represented by a literal 1-foot long gummy worm I found online. And yes, it nearly did take up a good portion of the table, but every player was ready to claim that bounty.
The fight was mostly even, but about an hour into combat, the players visions of sweet victory were turning sour due to bad rolls: The Paladin was out of smites, the Cleric was out of healing spells, the Rogue was on their third death saving throw (2 success, one failed), the Wizard was out of spells, and the Barbarian was eaten by the Naga, and was slowly both drowning and taking acid damage. Everyone was under 10HP. The Wizard's turn was up, and after him, was the Naga's.
He turned to me, and asked "May I do a Rule of Cool?", which I have as a homebrew rule where if they believe they need to do something drastic that breaks the core ruling, but it would be so cool and lifesaving, I might allow it, with a monkey's paw consequences. "May I cast Wish?"
Now, due to complications of the plot, the party earlier got a hold of a Wizard's book that contained Wish, however he was way too underlevel, plus he was already out of spell slots. "Now why would I allow that?" I asked, putting on the best snarky judge look that I could muster.
"Well, my character is in desperation, the party may be doomed if I cannot stop this Naga here and now, at least two of my friends will die. My character will pay anything- hell, I will do anything for even that small chance to save them!"
Now, I took a quick look over the ruling of Wish. Written in the 5th edition, Wish does state "State your wish to the DM as precisely as possible. The DM has great latitude in ruling what occurs...", plus his character had that Wish spell for a few sessions, so theoretically he could try.
"Alright, tell me your wish, as best and clear as you can, and I may grant it. However, there will be consequences..."
"I Wish... that the Naga loses all of its magic and becomes just a regular gummy worm!"
Nice wish. I nod slowly, and stay quiet for a minute as the rest of the table chatters amongst themselves. I roll 2d10s behind my screen (a 8 and a 9), and I let out a soft sigh.
"As you make your wish... you feel every last bit of arcane energy surge inside of you, a hidden font of power that you have never felt before. And as all of your energy floods into the large Nage Gummy, the gelatin jiggles, wobbles, then falls, the Naga Gummy... now dead."
The table cheers in victory, the Barbarian handing the wizard the gummy worm for first bite. "However..." I stop him, grinning evilly. "As the rest of the party celebrates, you, Wizard, now feel yourself changing. You start to shrink in size as the party watches you vanish under your robes, leaving your gear and clothing in a pile on the ground."
"Wait, am I dead?"
"Oh no~ much, much worse~ You see, the consequences for your actions of using a powerful spell without proper safety measures and training resulted in some magical backlash~ And what has become of the Naga..." I reach down under the table, and pull out a fresh little gummy worm, handing it to him with the rest of the party staring in absolute horror "... has now been graced upon you~ You are now a sentient gummy worm~"
"Oh that is messed up!"
"No, you know whats messed up??" I show him the page I had kept the Gummy Naga's health tracked, revealing the Gummy Naga was at 3 HP left. All he needed to do was a simple Fire Bolt spell and he would of probably killed it. I, of course, laughed like a villain as the session winded down, and we ended for the night.
By the end of the week, Everyone in town heard about what I did to the Wizard, and now even the other groups are giving me shit for it. I'm not mad about it, but damn, now I can't even buy groceries without the local grocery clerk slipping me a free coupon for more gummy worms. And yes, I am now known as the town's "Evillest DM", and I am not even sure if its earned. But now, I think I will buy a few gummy Rats for an upcoming session...

there are 4 belt like structures here. there is a large "buckler" in front in the middle. it has a "simha mukha" to it. this is generally found in South Indian idols, as a sign of warding off the negative eye.
there are round disc-like structures on the belt, decoratively.
there is a tight band below called the KATIBANDHA , near to the groin area.
below this, is a decorative drooping chain , falling half-way down to near the knees.
on the left side, tucking into the belt , the handle of a Dagger (CHURIKA ) can be made out. there is no sword on the idol, only a half-visible dagger on the left.
this is not visible after decoration, as there are too many ornaments, and a sword is used instead of a dagger for decor.
slightly above the navel , is a think band ( UDARABANDHA). it is very thick and tight. it is plain without any designs or motifs
everything seen here is fully formed on the back. there is no flat rock like base , like generally seen in other idols. everything is 360 degrees.
CHEST AREA
the Chest is strong and wide. the nipples are very prominent. there are no breasts , but the nipples can be very clearly seen.
at the corners of the chest , from shoulder to armpit, deep scars, run on both sides. they are also seen on the backside. characteristic of someone who regularly wears a pack of arrows ( devotee of Lord SRI Rama - rejoice !! )
THE SRIVATSA MARK - MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE IN CHEST AREA
Vishnu idols contain a mark called Sri vatsa. its shape and size varies a lot . it is like a triangle, or like a diamond , and sometimes like a knot (figure of 8 knot ) .
the most unique feature of this idol, is the Sri vatsa here is a fully formed Lakshmi .
this is located on the right chest, above the right nipple .
Due to the very large size of the main idol, it is possible to make out all the features even though the mark is small. it's roughly around 4 inches vertical and 3 inches diagonal. I will share a drawing of what this goddess looks like.
she has 2-arms ,seated in lotus pose (padmasana) on a lotus seat, inside a triangle .
this mark is fully integral to the idol, and has been a subject of great interest. it is exquisitely shaped with very tiny details . even the face and hands can be made out .
as such it is possible to take a Tracing of this mark , and the priests regularly do so on every Friday.
they use a paste of sandalwood, mixed with turmeric and various other items, and press it to the chest of the lord. a very clear impression of the goddess forms in this.
this impression is usually taken as 1 each for the priests doing the service on that day. 1 for the Jeeyangar trust, 1 for the TTD officials , and 1 for the acharya Purshas.
as this has been happening for a long time (hundreds of years), most of them have multiple copies of the impression. the surpluses now are shared with devotees.
( I don't want to debate the ethics of selling it for a certain price. the demand for it is a million times more than the supply. hence they started selling it. also, there were bitter fights by all entities who wanted them to generate more and who should be given. it was resolved to sell it - this is legally done. the ethics maybe not acceptable to some- but It is beyond the scope of this article)
those devotees who want to obtain this, can obtain it in 3 ways.

high level government contacts, especially endowments department, IAS officials, or TTD officials.
the Jeeyangar trust. they have the privilege of receiving the first impression on every Friday. you can ask in their mutt for it.
The vaikhanasa Archaka residence , located on the north side of the temple, beyond the temple tank. you may go and ask there. they may tell you to wait for some weeks. sometimes, they might give it away for free as well. ( but usually the wait time is extensive - there are people willing to pay 10 times more than the price they usually quote which is actually not as much as you might think.

many times, they deliberately pick a person at random and give it away, but you need to first go and and ask them, to be a list.
all sources other than the above 3 are selling fake ones on the market. for devotees who want to obtain this highly-prized possession, please don't fall into the trap.
I have personally seen people who paid exorbitant sums of money and got fake ones . I think it's best not to be so desperate. it's a priceless possession for sure, But Lakshmi devi's blessings will surely be there even without it.
THE YAGNOPAVEETA - the second important feature
there is a unique yagnopaveeta called the PRALAMBA BRAHMA SUTRA. it is made of 6 strands (signifies that he is married , 3 for the husband and 3 for the wife ) . there are some curious points here. it is also exceptionally long, and cane traced underneath the belts all the way upto his knees, ( hence the word - PRALAMBA - extra long ) and runs backwards.
unlike other idols, it only has 2 knots. also, its much thicker and heavier than upaveetas found in other idols. it runs down the length across his torso, but 1 strand cuts away also run to the left side going backwards, and never rejoins the rest. there seem to be some kind of inscriptions on the knots, which no one can understand . the script is unknown .
the entire yagnopaveeta can be fully traced on the backside also.
note : within vaishnavism, this yagnopaveeta and the srivasta mark are used to identify 2 other idols, which resemble vishnu in all other respects. one is VISVAKSENA ( SENAI MUDALIAR) and the other is VIKHANASA MUNI. these features are absent on them. the agama specifies that they should be absent.
also , by Puranas, those who attain lord vishnu's abode, may be blessed with his four ( 4 -arms etc . but these features would be absent in them - this is stated across so many scriptures that I cant even quote here )
CHEST JEWELLERY
there are 4 rows of necklaces each successively longer. on the lowest necklace there is a central round-oval with 4 petals on each side - the Kaustubha mani . its not very big in size unlike certain other idols.
all necklaces run to the back, and their knots and strings are clearly visible on the backside, running till the middle of the back.
THE VAIJAYANTI HAARA and the VANAMALA ( both are not the same) are absent on the idol.

The most effective study methods for academic success boil down to:
Time management
There are countless time management techniques, but one beautiful thing about going to school is that a lot of your time is managed for you.
The week and when you need to be in class is arranged.
Professors tell you when assignments are due, etc.
Heck, when I was in university they even gave us calendars for use to write in our due dates.
So the number one thing is to combine what you know with the tools everyone has: the calendar.
In many cases, you can also get advanced notices from professors by simply talking to them before the semester even begins.
You would also do well to explore techniques like the Eisenhower Matrix, time blocking and the Pareto Principle.
Above all, make time management something you study unto itself.
There's no one-size-fits-all approach. But those who study it as the discipline it is will win.
Study Environment Optimization
Studying effectively cannot be random or subject to interruptions.
If you have to study on transit, invest in custom ear plugs of the kind musicians use, not noise-cancelling headphones that will put you at risk in the case of an emergency. Custom ear plugs have filters that let you still hear without being bothered by shrill noises and you can switch between light and heavy filters.
Having multiple study locations worked out in advance is a great strategy because you can walk between them and percolate your thoughts – literally remembering more by simply getting in a bit of exercise. I used to call this "Road Work" when I was in university.
When at home, put a "Do not disturb" sign on your door. Make it clear to others that you are studying and train them to respect the hours you want to put it. Do not compromise. It's your future.
Note-Taking Strategies
There are many different kinds of note-taking methods. My fave is to use Zettelkasten in combination with Memory Palaces.

Memory techniques
Like time management, the topic of memory improvement is huge. Make sure to spend a good three months learning all of its ins-and-outs.
The key techniques you'll want to master are:
The Memory Palace A Alphabet System (or pegword system) A Number System (usually based on the Major System) A Symbol System A Spaced Repetition system
These accelerated learning techniques may feel like you're building an airport in the beginning, but think about it:
You do need airports to launch and land planes as effectively and efficiently as possible. It's the same with memory techniques.
You can also do yourself a favor and learn more about memory science. It will teach you about how the mind and memory work and give you ideas that will only arise if you know a little bit about what researchers have found.
Stress Management For Students
Don't make my mistake. I drank like a fish and ate poorly throughout university. This meant that a lot of the experience was lost to depression.
Sure, memory techniques helped… but I can't help but imagine how much more successful I would have been during and after if I'd had better ways of coping with the stress.
Diet, fitness, mindfulness practices, time off with friends for positive and healthy recreation. This is not complicated, though when you're young, impulsivity can certainly make it seem that way.
Exam Preparation Strategies
This basically comes back to properly using your calendar and memory techniques.
For the benefits of what is sometimes called state-dependent or context-dependent memory, it can be useful to study where you will take your exams. It's advisable to use Memory Palaces based on these exam rooms whenever possible.
(Those terms are the kinds of insider memory hacks you'll enjoy only when you understand your memory science, and there are many more that can help you with your exam prep.)
Take mock tests as much as you can. Reflect on what you're learning often. Talk about it with other students.
Don't cram and avoid wasting time on the fantasy that there are any "subject-specific study tips." Maybe if you're in nursing school and need to have patient bodies in specific position, but generally tests are about words, numbers and symbols. Learn how to commit them to memory and talk as much as you can about the information so it is well-exercised before you sit for your exams.
Form Effective Study Groups
There are many benefits to group study if you can select solid group members. This can be tricky, but one way to do it involves a slightly involved strategy:
Try to be part of a club or association. I was president of the English Undergraduate Student Association at York University in Toronto, for example. This drew precisely the right people because anyone who wanted to be part of the association already loved English Literature by default.
After you find the right members, it's just a matter of scheduling regular meetings based on decent agendas and following reasonable time limits so you don't burn out.
One thing my fave study group in university did a lot was to share reading. In other words, we'd each tackle an article or book and then present on it.
Ultimately, you still have to do the reading yourself, but it forms a nice mental framework that makes reading faster and easier when someone you can speak with has summarized the core ideas. These days, you can search YouTube and podcasts for this kind of summarization much of the time, but it's still not the same as being in a study group with other people.
You also get experience with peer teaching and tutoring this way, which is hugely beneficial for your memory. Even if you never intend to teach yourself, the simple effort that goes into preparing and delivering short presentations will benefit you in the short-term for your exams and long-term in your career. Collaborative learning also gives you something powerful to put on your resume, especially if your study group is linked with a formal university institution or group.
Work On Your Reading And Comprehension Skills
The main shortcut here is to simply read a lot, boost your vocabulary as you go by memorizing terms and write summaries as much as you can.
Doesn't sound like a shortcut, I know. But it really is. It helps develop pattern recognition and that's how you ultimately wind up quickly assessing the key points and inferring many things correctly.
Be humble, though. Mistakes will always happen, so be willing to go back and read things again.
Another key aspect of reading is to challenge yourself. Get outside of your comfort zone and read above your level at least a few times a week.
Don't worry about whether you understand what you're reading or not. Soon, moments of insight will arise.
Even if it doesn't happen soon, rest assured that will. There are aspects of philosophy that didn't come clear to me until after 30 years of reading. I'm not ashamed of this at all. I just haven't read and reflected enough to connect the dots. But if I had read above my level sooner, I probably would have had the insights sooner.
Motivation and Discipline
Technically, motivation is not necessary when you have systems. That's what discipline is all about.
That said, it's useful to know about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. These will be arranged differently in different people as some people respond well to threats of pain whereas others respond better to promises of reward.
Know thyself.
Hire a coach if you have to, as it will be worth it in the end. Many exist and some universities have behavioral science programs, learning disability labs and other institutions where you can learn more directly about these issues.
Finally, you can learn about the difference between tonic and phasic dopamine relative to how the Default Mode Network of your brain is in a kind of battle with the Task Positive Network. This area is kind of heavy on the brain science, but well worth an afternoon or two to figure out the implications in your life.
Just watch out: When optimizing your dopamine levels for motivation, you could wind up enlightened and have your ego make you think you're better than everyone else… which would not be enlightenment. But it'll sure feel that way.
That's why the next category is so important.
Make Time To Learn Critical Thinking
A lot of education involves humans who weigh what they teach and how they teach it based on subjective agendas. It's pretty difficult for anyone not to do that.
When you spend some time developing your critical thinking skills, you'll be able to determine when teachers and writers/video creators, etc. are being too subjective or otherwise slaves to any number of cognitive biases.
Likewise, you'll be able to spot them in yourself and weed many of them out before they can distract you.
The simplest way to use critical thinking while studying is to put Why, Where, When, Who and How up on a Memory Wheel and constantly rotate through it.
As you learn more about different thinkers, you can also start to ask, "What would Freud say about this? What would Skinner say? What would x say?"
To do this, study as many of the sciences and Liberal Arts as you possibly can. If you don't know where to start, go through the Trivium and then the Quadrivium. Knowing how to think through those seven lenses and ask what the major figures in each field would generally say will help you "triangulate" just about any issue and think both objectively and subjectively about it and know which is which.
Self-Assessment And Improvement
Ultimately, the best judge of your progress is you.
To make sure you're giving yourself good materials to judge yourself by, journal, ideally daily.
If you can, keep two journals:
A snapshot journal that simply lists what you did on a particular day.
A discursive journal where you reflect on your thoughts about how things went.
There are many formal products you can buy that will help you journal in particular ways. The Freedom Journal has been one of my faves, but the real tip is to experiment with as many journaling styles as you can in the two main styles I just mentioned.
As you can tell, there's not that much when it comes to embracing a wide number of learning strategies. Apply these tips to the study resources you need to cover on your way to the exam room and you'll do well.
Take Care Around Technology And Studying
There are tons of apps that can help "gamify" these activities, but at the end of the day, gamification is really just a mental metaphor. If it doesn't work for you, find a better metaphor.
Nir Eyal discussion the power of mental metaphors based on some research in Indistractable and more on the matter is found in The Victorious Mind by yours truly. There was even recently a Duke University study showing just how powerful adopting mental metaphors can be for remembering information.
Academic success can indeed be enjoyable, and all the more so when you work out what will make it enjoyable and meaningful for you. Personalize as much of the journey as you can, constantly applying critical thinking to every suggestion you come across and all of your study experiences will become much, much more rewarding.

-Tenebris, once human, now God of betrayal and darkness
-Malicious Eye, God of madness and chaos
-Aurelios, God of light and ruler of mankind
-Nebula, God of the stars and all things from across the cosmos
-Ember, God of Revenge and war
Each of them have their own symbol which represents them, with their only cults and churches all across the islands, some, worship in secret, others, openly. Some Gods are stuck in a “Soul Sanctum” a type of prison, strong enough to prison the soul of a very God. Some are still ruling over their domain, like Nebula, but have been forgotten by mankind, being regarded as part of the history of the old civilizations that lived in the island a long time ago. Most gods hide among mankind, in their own churches, where those who are strongly devoted can see their true Devine bodies as a whole.
There is much more to be told, like the nine hells, the different planes, the minor gods, false gods, vessels and etc. Maybe I will post more in the future lol >:3 bye

Dumbledore had all three of the deathly hallows?
Like it's such a big legend that having all three you could overcome death...
His wand was one, before giving the cloak of invisibility to Harry, he was holding onto it for safe keeping... And he gave the gem to Harry after his death in the snitch.
It never says when he found the gem so I'm just assuming he's had it for years.... And even if he found the gem after he gave Harry the cloak, he could have easily been like "hey Harry let me see your Cloak real quick" and he would have had all three....
What am I missing here?

I can totally see the reasoning for Anyas final scene. She used to be the one who ran away first in the apocalipse and for her ending she embraces her humanity and dies fighting a losing battle. I get the poetry, and symbolism. The did her right by that move. I know a lot of the fandom thinks her death was unfair or something, like she needed over 1200 years to start making the right choices, but I don't. I like she died a human, I like her ending, to me it was respectful to her character.
In comparison Wesleys I don't get. I feel its either about Illyria or about him giving up and I need some of you to offer me a different perspective. Because I find it disrespectful.

I'm not sure if what I'm building is viable or even a good idea but I thought it was cool and want to build into it enough to function. I'm looking for advice, changes, or even a simple thumbs up or thumbs down on the general concept.
My idea with this build is making an armored caster who is a bit of a jack of all trades. They aren't the leader of their team by a long shot but they are absolutely a tactician ready to fight with the front line or protect their back line, no matter if they choose to swing the good old blade or blow up an entire group with one fireball. Here's what I've got so far!
===Race: Githyanki===
Githyanki is the most important part of this character for me, Mage Hand is a fantastic spell, Jump is fun if we need to suddenly be somewhere high up, Misty Step is a must have in my opinion, and it all uses our Intelligence. Along with that it's important to have our Greatsword Proficiency as well as Medium Armor Proficiency. I put bonuses at +2 Intelligence and +1 Constitution
Our stat spread looks like this •Strength: 16 (+3) •Dexterity: 14 (+2) •Constitution: 16(+3) •Intelligence: 18 (+4) •Wisdom: 11 (0) •Charisma: 8 (-1)
===Class: Starting Level 3 Wizard (1-20)===
I thought about doing a Martial class like Fighter or Ranger but that doesn't make use of our starting proficiencies. Wizard doesn't have any of those when starting out and saves us from having to take Mage Armor and expend a Spell Slot at the start of every day. (Plus the Armor feels like a good status symbol for their time in Gith society).
Most importantly we're doing a War Wizard at Level 2 so we can use Arcane Deflection any time we're about to take a hit
Took Proficiency in Arcana (We need to identify magic to keep our team safe) and Religion (Vlakith feels pretty religion based)
Cantrips: Booming Blade (main way to use our Greatsword), Fire Bolt (ranged option), Shocking Grasp (In case we find ourselves weaponless or want to dominate a metal enemy)
Level 1 Spells: Magic Missile (Turn off Concentration), Shield, Burning Hands, Identify
Level 2 Spells: Shatter (Poor man's Fireball), Suggestion, Rime's Binding Ice (Suddenly stop an approaching enemy)
I'm not sure what Feats to take for this build besides Warcaster, other than that one I'm completely open to suggestions here, I am not sure what would work best here
===Background: Sage===
I think this background fits the feel of a battle commander who has locked themselves away for days studying strategy and history. On top of that I really like the background feature, 2 extra languages, and Proficiency in History and Athletics
===Equipment: A or B===
So we'll be buying our gear rather than selecting the default options. Starting out with Scale Mail for 16 AC, a Greatsword for 2D6 (Plus Booming Blade)
