I haven't done web or app development in many years. My current career has nothing to do with it.
However, I have an idea I would like to implement, but I am a little bit confused about the best way to do it these days.
Server-side, in 2024 (back in the day I would have gone with PHP + MySQL on a random web hosting service), it seems like AWS Lambda + AWS DynamoDB + Node.js is one possible good way to go.
On the UI side, I basically want it to be easy to use this service from a phone. So, I guess a mobile website + Android App + iOS app would be ideal. I don't have a Mac so I can't make an iOS app. I'm not in the USA and have to use a proxy to download Android Studio, and I've already encountered issues with it and it seems like it's going to be a massive headache.
So, I figured I could do one of these 2024 moves which is to make a mobile website that, if I rely on certain libraries, could basically directly be exported into an Android App and iPhone app as well.
However, on the front end side, for making a mobile website + Android App + iPhone app where I don't have a Mac and live in a country where I need a proxy to access many normal Android things and it seems to cause issues, I'm not sure what the normal tech stack for this is. React Native? React Native + React Native Expo? There are other toolkits like Onset and Ionic? I don't want to waste time writing a bunch of UI components from scratch for a mobile website - and THEN, even worse, having to rewrite them from scratch again for an Android app and iPhone app.
I'm also much more comfortable with web development in general than with Android development, and I have never even done iPhone development.
Any advice?

I live with my GF in her house that she owns. She bought a multiple camera security system to help keep her home and possessions secure. She also is having various trades people coming to fix things in the house and had previously caught one rummaging through her dirty laundry so she understandably wants to be able to keep an eye on them as well.
She got a good deal on a system that meets her needs, has good reviews online and is run from an app on her phone which is super convenient. The problem is that she wants to only have the app on her phone and not let me have access to it.
She is a private person and is extremely unnerved by the idea that anyone would able spy on her in her own home. The only way she was able to finally convince herself to get a camera system was to only allow herself to have access.
She is also worried having the app on multiple devices will cause issues with the app. She had a different system previously and was convinced that part of the issues the previous system had was caused by the app running on multiple devices. (While this may sound like gas lighting, I know her and her technological aptitude enough to know this is a genuine concern she has).
To be honest, don't care about the cameras or about only her having access to them. I appreciate how big a step it was for her to put them in so I want her to feel comfortable and I don't care if she watches me (I don't expect this to a universal standpoint but I personally have no issues so long as she is the only one that can watch me).
I'd feel different if this was a land lord or some third party but with her we have a level of trust and understanding that I am perfectly comfortable with. She was also upfront with me and we had a robust conversation about whether I was comfortable about the cameras and about her being able to see what I’m doing when I'm home.
There are no cameras set up in the bedrooms or bathrooms.
While I realise it might seem hypocritical for her to want exclusive access to the cameras, I also recognise I am a 6’3” 280lbs male and the worst she will catch me doing on the cameras is possibly scratching my butt crack. She meanwhile is a 5’4” female who already had her privacy violated in the past by various disgusting people for various disgusting reasons. This is a double standard but is one that feels to me as understandable even if I get others may have issue with it.
The problem is that part of the security system is an alarm that is turned on and off via the app as well. There is no physical keypad or way to arm or deactivate the alarm without the app.
90% of the time this wouldn't be an issue since she works from home and usually when she is out we are out together and come back together. But this still creates a potential issue when she is out and I'm coming home before her meaning that I have no way to deactivate the alarm.
There is no way on the app for me to just have to access the alarm. Even giving me a guest/non admin login still gives me access to view the cameras, it just stops me messing with settings.
She has suggested I simply message her when I'm home and she will disarm the alarm remotely. This is a hard no in both an emotional and practical standpoint.
Emotionally, giving her 100% control over my ability to access my possessions and a place that I consider home feels wrong.
Practically, she consistently keeps her phone on silent and is notoriously bad at checking her messages or seeing she has missed calls, (sometimes it can take her hours to see the message or that I tried to call her). While I love that she isn't glued to her phone, I am not willing to stand outside the house waiting for her to see my message or get home and I am not willing to gamble on any promises of her changing her behaviour regarding checking messages.
We are looking into potential ways to integrate a keypad or for there to be some other way for me to arm/disarm the alarm without needing the app but I have made it clear that either I be given a way to arm/disarm the alarm that doesn't involve me needing her or the alarm stays permanently off with the only exception being when we both go out together and come home together.
If I was given the app, I would promise never to view cameras and only open it when I needed to arm/disarm the alarm. I do however respect that it means that she would be depending on my assurances which means she would have to give up a degree of control.
AITA?
If so, is there a better way to approach this so that she feels secure and the house is kept secure but my concern regarding access to the house is addressed?

I (38F) have recently decided to dip my toes back in to the flaming cesspool that is dating in this modern age. I joined an app, matched with a few guys, talked with a few less, and had a dinner date last night with F (40M) who I felt like I was vibing with via text.
F and I had agreed to meet last night at a nice but not stupidly-expensive steakhouse in a popular upscale district downtown. I had originally planned on driving my Jeep, but it has been at the shop for maintenance and they still hadn't finished by COB Friday. I live too far out of town for Uber to be reliable, so I decided to have fun and drive my new car that was just delivered this week. I got to the restaurant 45 minutes early, valet-parked (I would have done this with the Jeep too, parking in this district is a complete nightmare), and walked down the block to a stationary/book binding boutique I love to pick up a few things. When I walked back to the restaurant to meet F I was a little surprised to see my car was still parked out front of the restaurant in one of the reserved spots instead of being moved back to the designated lot. I asked and found out that the valet company policy was for any car over a certain value threshold be left in the reserved spots out front both to keep an eye on them, and so that the company wouldn't have the liability of a valet potentially damaging them driving. That made perfect sense to me, so I didn't ask them to move it to the back.
F met me at the host stand and after about five minutes got seated at our table. Hilariously to me, we got seated next to the window looking directly out at my car.
Dinner started off... ok? F started off pretty affable, but started making little comments early on about my dress, and what I ordered and how I wanted my steak cooked - he tried to insist to our server that I really wanted medium when I had ordered my steak cooked blue. I joked to the server that when I said I wanted my steak blue (for those who don't know, "blue" is extra-rare), that that might actually be too well-done for me, better just bring it out raw. The server laughed, but F was quiet.
Conversation after that was pretty one-sided. He did ask me "what do you do for a job" (my standard answer is working at an animal sanctuary. It's not technically a lie...), which he scoffed at and made a comment about how I "must not make any money doing that" and "are you sure you can cover your bill here?". I laughed it off, but definitely found it rude.
Once I asked him about his job he completely took over the conversation. He went on ad nauseam about his job in finance at a major corporation, but once he started in about what a great investment crypto is I knew for sure he wasn't getting a second date. Honestly, it felt like I was talking to someone completely different than who I had been texting, and I was not a fan.
I had ordered desert to go, when for some reason, probably trying to impress me? F pointed out the window at what just so happened to be MY car, saying that he was doing so well in crypto he had just picked it up at the dealership, and was getting another next week just because he could.
Now some important backstory: in my very early 20s I won a significant lottery jackpot. Initially I absolutely went stupid and was spending money like an asshole, but after a few months one of my uncle's (a self-made multi-millionaire) sat me down, made me run the numbers with him, and showed me how if I kept doing what I was doing I would be broke before I was 40. He helped me get a good financial planner, and to make long-term plans. As a result over time I've still been able to have and do pretty much whatever I want as long as I don't decide to do something stupid like have a jet for every week of the year, and my money has actually grown. I've helped my close friend's and family out (and only gotten burned once), invest in local small businesses, and donate to charities that mean something to me.
I now live on a large farm outside of our major Midwestern city. And while I do travel all around the world, I spend the majority of my time training and showing horses, as well as providing homes for horses that have been rescued from the slaughter pipeline and can't be repurposed back to work, or retired show horses that need a soft spot to land (and various other animals, like pigs, alpacas, and an absolute hoard of chickens. Someone offered me a giraffe once, and I had to politely decline). And yes, I do actually do a lot of the hands-on work myself, although I have other people who clean the stalls and help with the general caretaking of the retired crowd, which is why it's not really lying when I say I 'work at an animal sanctuary'.
Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the finer things in life like the latest tech and designer clothes, bags, and shoes, but as I've matured I tend to not go for the flashy "logo" option. Except for one thing...
I love fast cars. My daily-driver is a Jeep that I've had for 10 years, and I have a big truck for farm stuff (I didn't drive it to dinner because it is huge and will not fit in any of the garages downtown), but I also have a small collection of late-model Lamborghinis, starting with the Murcielago I bought during my "asshole spending" phase. I also have a Gallardo, an Aventador, a Huracan, and this week I finally had my Revuelto delivered after ordering it more than a year ago. The Revuelto is what I decided to drive to my date, because I just couldn't resist the excuse to drive the new toy.
Now, back to F trying to claim my car as his. On my best day I am a sarcastic bitch, and this opportunity was too much for me to pass up. I started playing along, asking him "omg, isnt that a Lambor-jeenie Hurricane?", which he confirmed it was, and "would he take me for a ride in it after dinner?" He said maybe on our second date he would.
Basically for the next 10 minutes until we settled our checks he bullshitted his way through my questions about the "Hurricane", and how he could help me invest in crypto so I could have nice things too, and "get some nicer clothes from somewhere better than Target, because my girlfriend should only wear designer". For the record, I love Target and have a lot of clothes from there, but I was wearing a dress from The Row to dinner and my bag and shoes were designer as well, just without obvious logos for him to pick up on.
We walked out of the restaurant together and he made a show of telling me and anyone who would listen (there was a small crowd looking at my car and taking pictures with it, which is fine with me as long as they dont lean/sit on it) that he had an errand to run and would be picking his car up from the valet later, but he would wait with me until my car got brought up. I agreed, walked away to the valet stand to pay my ticket, tip, and collect my keys. Then I walked over to my car, and watched his jaw hit the pavement as I opened the door. I said "by the way F, it's a Revuelto, definitely not a "hurricane", and not even a Huracan, but I have one of those too". Some of the people who had been looking at my car were laughing at F as I got in and drove off.
I had 17 texts when I got home from F, berating me for embarrassing him in front of people because I didn't tell him it was my car from the beginning. He also called me a fat bitch after I pointed out he never should have tried to say it was his in the first place and declined his invite to a second date...
Tl;dr I went on a date with a crypto-bro who didn't know I drove a Lamborghini, and he tried to pretend my car was his to impress me.
So AITA for letting him pretend my car was his, and then publicly showing him it wasn't?

The second disconnect happened with covid
Our celebs in disasters are usually like bards--giving song and acts and art as support--generosity and vows to immortalize our lives and struggles
And we in turn hold them in our hearts too and give them stories to hear and remember their name, give them support
But when they no longer have that connection they lose their use and purpose
They become vile--an evil bard steals your story, your song, your money, your time, your life
With covid there was so much politically--everyone was exhausted

Hey folks! TL;DR on the bottom.
I recently join ADT (Plus) after transitioning from the Google Nest Secure ecosystem. I got a self setup set/box (with a control panel, motion detector and door sensor), and created an ADT account, and then I guess ADT Plus account? Not entirely sure why I need to create two accounts. I used a Gmail account that was associated with the Google Nest Secure account (to get the one year free monitoring services), so I'm not sure if I can use a different email.
For life reasons, I didn't install the equipment right away and didn't go thorough with setting up everything on the app. The app worked fine then. I tried installing everything today, and the app asked me to login, which worked, and then asked me to validate or create an account. I used my full name and email (same one as the one I logged in with), but then told me the email already exists. My only option is to "create an account," and I can't return to a previous step or move forward. I tried clear cache, data, uninstall and reinstall, restarting the device (I was getting desperate lol) and still got the same error message. I decided to try and log into the account on my mobile browser and/or the desktop browser.
However, when I try to log into my account on Chrome mobile and desktop, I can login to the "initial"/first account, and then asked to validate my account/email. When I put in the email address I used for both accounts, it says it can't find my email 🤦 What? First it says the email is already registered, then it says it can't find my email. I decided to call - tech support/customer service had me do all of the steps I described, and it didn't work. Then they had to escalate it, and I'm not sure when I'll hear back ("several business days" was what they said), so I don't have much to do but wait, but I'm wondering if something like this happened to anyone else and if it did, how did you solve it? Any help would be appreciated!

They just sat there in silence for a few minutes while the sun set when suddenly, dark red light columns erupted out of the ground in several places in the horizon. "Huh?" Noah stood up abruptly and blinked his eyes as if trying to reset his vision, he turned his head to Mark to confirm if he was seeing the same thing but all he saw was Mark staring off to the distance with wide disbelieving eyes. If the red light columns weren't enough a blue screen suddenly appeared in the middle of his vision.

Like a torrent, information flooded his mind and forced him to sit down and hold his head in pain. The sheer amount of information forced into his mind was, for lack of a better term, mind boggling. But after a couple of minutes the pain finally subsided and he could stand up again just in time to see the red light columns dim and wink out of existence "I guess that means the system finally finished making those dungeons huh Mark" after a couple of seconds of silence from Mark, Noah looked to his cousin and noticed that he was sitting down and clutching his head obviously he just picked his own class too. Before Mark could finish what he was saying, the space right above Noah's head started to warp and distort as if something was trying to get through. Then, something did, a blue marble the size of a lemon popped out and floated in front of Noah, he reached out to grab it and surprisingly enough the marble let him. It even flew nearer as if to make his job of grabbing it easier. When the marble finally made contact with his hand a blue screen popped up in his vision.

I'm tired as hell from all that so later yeah?"

Restream is supposed to be so you can stream in more than one site like twitch and youtube. I set that up ages ago (Before 2020) and then issues in my life so I never really streamed. I set everything up but then those issues. I got a new phone recently and I was testing out Among US.
Apparently you can connect Among US to your twitch (I have both apps on my new phone) and every title is Live with Restream. I don't stream on youtube.
So how do I change the standard title of my streams? I don't want to mention Restream.

Hello all, I haven't been playing EA or Ubisoft games for quite a while, but recently got in the mood of reigniting my love for Dead Space and Assassins Creed. I remember I used to install uplay and origin via Lutris to install those games, but now when I try to install origin the launcher just always just throws me an error and uplay (or I think ubiconnect or something like this by now) just seems stuck in a loop searching for updates. For EA I also tried the EA App which appears to be their new launcher, but that either "unexpectedly crashes" or shows me a login page in some Arabic looking language (device language is English). I know both EA and Ubisoft have a history of breaking steam deck compatibility and generally make using their launchers a living hell, but is there a current go-to method that works? Aside from sailing the high seas despite owning a game to save yourself the headache?

My mom’s speaker was lost or possibly stolen. She told me usually when someone loses something they replace it . It’s been sticking in my head for the last few hours .
I broke 4 doors in the house when I was under the age of 18 I am 21 now . My mom and sister broke my own room door . I calculated all the costs of the doors which is 543. Or somewhat very close to that.
The reason why this is important is because I worked at my mom’s work after high school when I was 18. She did payroll & at the time I didn’t have a debit card . So the money would be deposited onto her PayPal card that I had . But no access to the app or login whatsoever .
She stole $1,000 dollars from me of two weeks of full time work and extra hours . “To replace the doors I broke” …. 3 years later all 4 I broke + the one my mom and sister broke are all the exact same condition not a single door has been replaced.
The doors are three regular bedroom doors which are $60 roughly and then the fire / garage door is $320 (considering my mom has a Home Depot card)
This is sort of nothing me the comment of “what you break or lose of someone else’s then you replace” it’s logic yes and I agree . I broke 4 doors costing $543 which means she stole a little of $500 extra .
My grandparents gave my mom money for new tires for the vehicle I drive . Which is my hand me down car which was and is my moms . It will not ever be signed over to me.
Anyways they gave her $500 and my tires were not replaced , because “she needed the money” . She only told me about this on our way to my grandparents out of state.
I couldn’t tell them anything negative at all or I’d be kicked out of the house. So for those of you from my previous posts that is why I could not tell them anything. Just like I can’t report my mom for stealing my pay because i would be kicked out.
She told me she would not be replacing my tires and that I would have to & also do all the repairs on the car (even though I don’t own it ) but yes I drive it and I do need a car to get to work and home.
I am working on getting a car this summer hopefully before anything serious happens to the car so I don’t have to repair anything . The car was “given” to me with the engine and tire light on and also the low tire pressure light is now on
And yes I’m aware I can get the pressure done for free it just came on recently
I’m just a little conflicted on what I should do about her missing speaker . She stole $500 ish from me and then also cheated me out of tires because she needed the money. I really don’t feel like I should pay for her speaker considering she stole $500 from me and $500 for money for tires .
I want to replace my room door because there is a giant hole in it . My family sticks their hand through and unlocks it to come in . I do want to take the door cost off my rent . I do also want to buy a knob where I could unlock the door from the outside with a key . Which I would also take off my rent. Also including costs for someone to install it.
My rent is $300 . Basically $100 for car insurance, $100 for my phone bill that is on her account etc , and $100 for rent rent . In addition to buying a car that I will own and pay insurance all under my name ; I want to get my own phone that I own.
My drunk father’s rent is also $300 . Which he hasn’t paid in 2 months . I am behind 2 months as well and I don’t really want to pay her rent when my grown adult father doesn’t and he’s 55.
I just need some advice on how to go about this all . I know I should choose my battles . But money is an important one .

I have been following the development of Day of Dragons for a long time since its original Kickstarter campaign back in 2019. About how an idea was crafted and sold to the public, a genuine concept with great potential and with unknown consequences. At this point many believe that this game was a scam gone wrong, with the game developer asking for money to make a game and gravely underestimating the popularity that their project would receive. From the lead developer proudly taking credit and keeping his audience in the dark about using bought assets while taking all of the credit from the assets' original creators. Eventually as lies kept piling, people were unfairly banned for concerns regarding the financial management, Day of Dragons truly had barely hatched with its tech demo into the world when the lead developer made it clear that he had no interest or patience. As much as Jao has also claimed to have been destroyed and burnt out by the "YouTube propaganda" that brought all of his lies and truth to light originally. Jao keeps coming back to the drama every single year as attempts to use it as a negative monetising of his project, being a strong believer that if you cannot gain good attention, then even the worst kind of attention is enough.
The alpha stage of development with the tech demo was simply put a survival to its fittest, a desert map with only three known oasis at its release and forcing players to only feed upon other players. It was a massive let down that barely kept players' attention and the player cap quickly dropped after first three weeks of its release. The lead developer's belief of players having to work tirelessly to keep their dragon fed truly matched his ideology. It took months before new assets were bought and first single AI creature was added into the game in hopes to bring players back. It did work for a while but it couldn't keep high player population meant for 100 people alive for long. Clans were quickly established and most largest ones kept all other players from growing to adulthood and though these original clans might not exist here today, there has truly been no difference from the bloodshed from the past.
The beta stage of development was started with the first pay-to-win DLC: an acid dragon that could force all flying dragons (99% of all free playable dragons in the game) into the ground for an easy meal. The Acid Spitter Drake that even to this day despite its decreased health pool, still is fully capable of standing above other free playable dragons. The excuse that we were given for a paid DLC to be the first dragon to be worked on was that "It was the easiest and it had no wings." which brought the public's trust down even further. Truly only the greatest of fans continued to keep holding onto the faith of anything that is being developed a good thing. When the beta stage of development was released to Kickstarter backers and soon the new established Patreon supporters, the second dragon and first FREE playable dragon Shadow Scale was easily brought to its knees in front of the Acid Spitter Drake and this would continue to be the end of time of the beta stage. While Flame Stalker dragon was also developed and released there were a real power struggle and lots of issues with balancing the existing 3 dragons.
After as the approach of the 4th Anniversary of Day of Dragons we were promised that the game would finally let go of its early access (EA) title and strive with pride to full release access. We were promised beautiful visuals of the Unreal Engine 5, brand new free dragons that we had been waited for many years to be released, a new skin and customisation system, and much more! Same promises that that the lead developer had promised so many years ago during the Kickstarter campaign. What exactly happened yet again? After so many promised delays. The 1.0 release was supposed to have been here in 2021. It was delayed due to an excuse of not expecting dragons and artists having cost that much. For a new game and first time game developer it was an acceptable pass, not the favoured one but acceptable regardless. Then half a year later another delay came and flew by, and then another and another and another. All the meanwhile the players and community members have had to walk on eggshells hoping not to say something by accident that would "upset" the lead developer's feelings, over 40 year old man who still lives in his mother's basement and who cries cyber bullying when someone says that the flight system isn't perfect but it could be made with [insert suggestion here] adjustments.
Every year Day of Dragons has received thousands of dollars from Patreon supporters. In 2020 when the Patreon was page Day of Dragons was given a large amount of $7,158 USD in its first year in the website. Then in 2021 the financial support grew to huge $41,571 USD. During the start of Covid in 2022 Day of Dragons received $117,506 USD. During the year of 2023 the Patreon sum was $179,288 USD and so far up to mid 2024 Day of Dragons have been receiving total of $91,235 USD this year.
Patreon has in total of its current lifetime given $436,758 USD to the development of Day of Dragons. Well, not exactly development because the lead developer said that its actually going to pay the comic artist and some of their Discord community (part-time and full time) staff.
The original Kickstarter campaign brought together $533,938 USD and the generous people who came together to support the idea and help bringing it to life were generously thanked by the lead developer and said that "they only paid for the concept of the game, not for its development" when Kickstarter backers asked why they were not receiving as many developer blogs on Kickstarter when the developers had failed to update the Kickstarter page for two months.
While we do not know the exact number of private sales that the lead developer has made and gained through the official Day of Dragons website, what we know for a fact from the use of public internet searches and website statistics is that together Day of Dragons has generated roughly around $970,696 USD (not including private sales. The game has mostly a million dollars in support money and income from selling the game on its official website and Steam, yet the game has been 'recoded' twice and its still as poor state with little to no increases in its game content than what it was between the alpha and beta stages of development.

• The lack of giving basic changes in survivability are horrendous. There is still not enough food in the game and the AI behaviour program still has the same issues from alpha and beta where AI sometimes glitches and doesn't spawn at all.
• The new dragon Biolumer has barely any flowers except in 3 known areas of the map, which at least 2 of these areas are in the open. This is a dragon that gets instantly killed by anything larger than itself and it cannot fight back, and it has to sit in the open areas in order to feed where its easy food for other players.
  • Players are actively being punished for not killing other players, playing in PVE or trying to play a certain dragon because of its flaws. This by common sense is extremely poor game design.
• Forcing players to play in groups: yes, I understand that the entire idea of this game is that you play in groups (clans). However, the fact that the game is so piss poorly balanced and that the game is designed to actively punish players who want to play solo- or with 1 - 2 friends is baffling to me.
  • I will not go into the entire clan dynamics and how toxic the member hierarchies are. However, if you are unable to own 3 - 10 copies of the game and have alternative accounts nesting and spamming eggs, you are already being disqualified from most of the still active clans in the game.
  • Not to mention if you do join a clan and something happens, you will end up being witch hunted, harassed and threats of doxxing and none of the official Day of Dragons staff will lift a finger for you. If this doesn't happen in the official Discord server, you will be left for fend for yourself.
• The poor performance has always been an issue in this game and when I started seeing reports of Day of Dragons causing emergency shut downs on computers because of the overheating of CPU and GPU. You should have alarm bells screaming and to uninstall the game. Doesn't matter if you can run it or not, this game is clearly causing severe damage to computers!
• Last but not least the amount of exact same issues, the same bugs and glitches that have existed since the day dawn of the alpha stage of development and refusal to fix them is just mind blowing to me. If you truly know programming and C++ to bring blueprints together and make a good game like the lead developer has been claiming as the 'master programmer'. Then why do we have years old bugs that many others have given support and help how to fix? No, seriously. Why does Jao ban other programmers from 'his' Discord server who are only trying to help? Oh yes, because they are trying to steal and sabotashe his game.
  • Jao literally sits in Unreal Engine asset Discords and asks how to implement a basic thing because he doesn't know how to do it himself and then comes to Day of Dragons official Discord exclaiming how he knew all along how to do something and takes credit of being the first person ever to implement it. Like seriously?
  • Yet no second programmer can be hired because Jao stages himself up to failure. The lead developer claims that he is bigger and brighter than he is with only 3 years of learning blueprints and not fully knowing what to do with the engine that he has. He barely takes any advice from far more experienced programmers and is quick to throw anybody, including his own developers under the buss (like he did with Echo during February after the backlash on 1.0.0 release), or blames them trying to steal 'his code' made out of YouTube tutorials and already existing blueprints that come by default with the engine or the assets that he has bought.

I apologise if this post is this long. I truly am but to this day I cannot believe how people are still so forgiving towards a lead developer and his 'friends' in staff team for the players and community horribly, dare I even say abuse because of the clear favourite picking, harassment, encouragement of harassment and doxxing attempts. As we all know even the people who have believed that they are supporting the development of the game for years have began to receive the nasty side of the developers and staff. It is rich coming from some person in the United States believing about how privileged he is to gather a group of people, force them to shut their ears for reason, claiming that the internet is lying to you when you are shown Patreon or Steam statistics (from the actual Patreon/Steam websites) and then proceed to brainwash adults and underaged to obedience because "he is some big game developer" who in total honestly just happened to get lucky.
Do not take me wrong, I like many many others wish that this game would be finished, but all of the signs of the lead developer holding back the development because withholding information when there are desperate people willing to keep throwing money at him, just points towards the direction that this game is most likely going to fail. As long as we, the community as a whole and people refuse to act and show that actions have consequences the things are not going to change. After the meltdown and entire shutdown during 2019 because the lead developer lost his cool over the backlash and destroyed his public appearance the first time, there was no changes and he refused to change because there were hard headed people who insisted that Jao did no wrong and blamed someone entirely for Jao's actions. People have kept throwing the project and lead developer money year after year. Jao's behaviour has not changed. His game is barely progressing which is not a surprise because long before 1.0.0 update it was barely being developed in the first place.
If you look at one of the more recent survival games that is currently in progress, such as The Wings of Dawn which also includes playable dragons: their game failed their first Kickstarter campaign and received nothing. Where most would have stopped there because their idea was not sellable, The Wings of Dawn development team kept going without any money. It was their community who pushed and kept pushing the developers to accept Patreon funding, which they eventually did and still receive a small fraction compared to Day of Dragons, yet somehow and in some way, this 2 year old survival game has already completed their first map (working on 2nd map), 5 fully finished and rigged dragon models, playable humans and 3 playable dragons in their TECH DEMO. Yes, a pre-alpha tech demo and its going to be free to play for everyone during The Wings of Dawn next Kickstarter campaign.
Where is Day of Dragons' progress of 5 years? Surely noticing that there is active competition the development should have been sped up, right? We have 3 free playable dragons, 1 Kickstarter "aesthetic" dragon and 1 paid DLC (with 2nd right around the corner). There are no completed map, barely have gotten half of the free dragons that we were promised, no questing system which was promised to be here the last 2 years. No character customisation and breeding system that we were promised at the early stages of beta in Unreal Engine 4 build. Hell, something very simple such as weather which is an easy setup plugin has been hold back in the release because of what? Because it would make the release of the Blitz Striker Ampithere so much bigger deal. You serious? A competitor gets half of the basic shit that we have been waiting for Day of Dragons done in 2 years and receives roughly $2K per month, where as the Day of Dragons receives $17K per month to this day.
So in all honesty what the fuck?
Where has all of that $533,938 USD been going to?
Because it most definitely has not been going for the development. Not all of it.
I do believe that when people say "if you don't like the game leave a preview and uninstall and leave it be" is the best advice in this situation. There comes to a point when a game has received very likely a million dollars in funding, support and sales The raw and sad reality is that people have been enabling and encouraging the lead developer's behaviour by giving him money, lots and lots of their money when Jao has done nothing more than acted very predatory and unlawfully towards his community. If people truly want to help this game to do a turn around then it is time to give the lead developer a reality check: act on those consequences: do not support a developer who's morality and ideology doesn't align with your own. There has been new dragon games coming out which may or may not have been the result of Jao screaming at people to go and make their own game if Day of Dragons is so bad. These are consequences.
Please support games who acknowledge you and respect you as a person. Not just someone's wallet that they can bleed dry. Most importantly look after yourselves and your own health. Only through actions can we teach other people the basics of human interaction. Praise and reward the good behaviour in people when they do good. Do not praise and reward bad behaviour because it will turn very harshly something like this that has been happening and keeps happening in the higher up of Day of Dragons. If it turns out that the lead developer, the owner and CEO of the BeAwesome company refuses to take respect his customers and takes no responsibility of his staff's actions whatsoever. Then let it burn.
We do not need game developers like the ones developing Day of Dragons in game industry. We do not need mini AAA's demanding that we must give money just to be treated somewhat better. We do not need a tiny ass company that acts so big because their egos got inflated by a streak of luck that just played right before their company was even founded. We do not need developers who think that they are validated and able to do horrible things to other people because they are in the status that allows them to become predatory. If Day of Dragons doesn't change, then neither are we required to throw money at people who bite the hands that feeds them.
I apologise that this has been such a long post. Consider this as a very long review of mine about the game and the misgivings that we have had to experience and a reminder that not all game developers act this way. Most of all please remember to respect yourselves as a human being. You should not have to pay someone to be treated differently or have your voice heard. You should never have to pay in order to have your feedback or critique heard, any kind of development or company doesn't work that way and will never succeed with that kind of mentality. Stay safe, stay aware and keep playing games. Except this one.

Hope this is the right sub to post the question. A lot of my fellows (italians) are telling me:
"Do you want to start a (small) projects by yourself in digital/IT? Be Strong! You need to pick up one country from IRELAND, LUXEMBURG and SWITZERLAND. Remember (also as a personal adivice in order to enjoy it better) to be a resident in the same state you deciced to go. Just to say...islands are my best places..."
I know El Dorado doesn't exists.
But, for sure, each of these three countries is good to start a business (no doubt about this).
What I'm looking for:

• simple burocray
• NES, english-speaking country (or at least wide-and-good english level country)
• existance of noumerous corporations, especial in tech field

I'm referring only to the business matters from an objective pov. No personal perspective involved here.
Caveats
1 I would go in main city, that is Dublin/Cork/Galway (Ireland), Zurich/Zug/Bern (Switzerland), Luxembourg (Luxembourg). I'm talking about these three countries because, those are countries where I would like to live in. (best business/personal tradeoff imho).
2 In my case, I have read that the best thing would be to go first as solo trader and then incorporate in a limited company
3 I would work on my tech projects (develops apps/games/websites, blogging and yt channels)
4 Beyond my business, I would do financial investments, so it would be great if the country I will live in is tax-friendly towards investemts.

If you had to pick up one from the three countries, which would you pick ? Am I missing others countries in Eurpe with the aforementioned characteristcs?

I've got two regions where I've set up one region to import and the other to export for a few goods, but so far I've not seen any exchange of resources.
I tried the same during the beta and it definitely didn't work (the trader would make the journey but no goods would be exchanged, and the trader would pay the receiving region for some reason), was wondering and hoping it would work on the live branch but haven't had any results yet. One of my trade posts has 4 workers and 2 horses, the other has just 1 worker and no horses.
Any of you guys' findings, advice, whatever it's all useful and much appreciated. I really want this feature to work, because good god things are expensive to import, especially with the change to the foreign tariffs reduction tech.

I use Google Maps on a daily basis and I also have the Rewards app which gives me Google Play credit for answering surveys. It doesn't matter how many times I calibrate Maps it always shows me about 50 yards off from where I really am. It doesn't matter if I use the camera for precise location or do the figure 8. When I get the rewards surveys it always asks me if I went to a different business in the same complex. I can lie and say I did but then Google sends me custom ads for businesses I never visit. Ha ha. I've had this phone for 3 years and I do cell phone tech support for a living. I've even factory reset the phone. I've played with the location accuracy. You name it. Literally nothing fixes the issue. On rare occasions it will be spot on for a day or two but then it always goes back. It's maddening. I know I can't be the only one. I wish Google legitimately took feedback like other phone manufacturers. I'm not entirely convinced there's not an answer out there that I just don't know about but I have yet to find one.
