2024.06.02 10:00 JaredAiRobinson Fire Emblem fandom rant

I hate having to waste my sleep over complete and utter BS in pretends with Three Houses (AGAIN) and god forgive my favorite character Veyle. But I to get this rant off of my chest: to most of the Fire Emblem fandom here, forgive me for cursing; YOU F—ING P!SS ME OFF!
I am SICK AND TIRED of Three Houses fans sh—ing on Engage! And even other Engage fans are no better! We can’t have f—ing nice things because you Idiots need something to gripe about!
The next time I hear another “Fire Emblem Engage’s gameplay is fine but the story is too cheesy,” I’m going to full Dimitri on all of you more than I am here!
I have heard the same bloody comments OVER AND OVER AGAIN! It’s tiring!
Whether it’s about Engage’s story, characters, their designs, etc. you just look for an excuse to cancel a game that’s supposed to celebrate the franchise!
And the fact that some people don’t buy the game because they heard is bad is because you just can’t think for yourselves!
Again, to all the people who genuinely played Engage, did every single support, watch the story, and still couldn’t bring themselves to like Engage because it wasn’t for them, I understand! I won’t hate you for it…
But if you’re going to hate on Engage, or any other video game/anime for that matter, at least take some time out of your god🤬 lives to actually look at what you claim to hate in earnest before you you start spouting Bulls—t! Spreading misinformation is wrong!
And I will never forgive anyone for writing off Veyle as a fanservice character (let alone a “loli”) looking at you “Count Gloucester!”
I would much rather debate Three Houses Edelgard coomers than listen to you spread nonsense about my favorite character over her design.
It’s one thing to argue who’s right and wrong in a game like Three Houses, but misccharacterization is another! Veyle deserves so much better than this. You compare Veyle’s feet as if they were Camilla’s chest… do you have any idea how much that ticks me off?!
And another thing, to all of the people who claim that EVeyle undermines Veyle’s character or cleans away any responsibility from Veyle, if that were reallly the case, VEYLE HERSELF WOULDN’T BE ATONING OF HER OWN CHOICE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
And one last thing that I can’t stress enough as an Engage and Three Houses fan, Fire Emblem Engage is meant to be a celebration to the franchise as a whole! And yet here you all are bickering about which is better or choosing to mischaracterize others…
As someone whose only just starting out as a Fire Emblem fan, it truly is a pity that we all have to either fight each other or wish to perform Cancel Culture on Intelligent Systems because of it. Kaga would be ashamed of this.
I’m sorry about cursing and being violent, but I needed to get this off my chest.

2024.06.02 09:58 reviewsusa Coffee Loophole to Lose Weight: Does the 7 Second Weight Loss Recipe Work?

When considering coffee as a potential aid in weight loss, there's evidence suggesting its efficacy. Coffee, containing caffeine, a common ingredient in many fat-burning supplements, is recognized for its ability to boost metabolism. Additionally, coffee contains stimulants like Theobromine, found in cocoa, and Theophylline, along with chlorogenic acid, which may impede carb absorption.
However, it's important to note that while caffeine can stimulate the nervous system and prompt fat cell breakdown, this process alone doesn't lead to weight loss unless accompanied by calorie expenditure through diet or exercise.
Contrary to popular belief, the combination of lemon and coffee as a miraculous weight loss solution isn't supported. Healthline articles debunking this trend emphasize that neither lemon nor coffee possess magical fat-melting properties. Sustainable weight loss requires a balanced approach of consuming fewer calories and increasing physical activity.
While some studies suggest coffee may contribute to modest weight reduction, extravagant claims regarding its transformative abilities are unfounded and unattainable.

7-Second Coffee Loophole Recipe: What’s the Science Behind It?

The 7-second coffee loophole diet has gained significant attention as a method for weight loss, involving the combination of coffee with various ingredients. While the internet is flooded with different versions of this recipe, typically incorporating coffee, lemon, honey, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon, it has also been used to promote coffee-based supplements promising weight loss benefits.
The core concept revolves around consuming black coffee, often with additional ingredients, within a very precise timeframe, ideally within seven seconds of experiencing hunger pangs.
Proponents of this method, including advocates and influencers, make bold assertions about its effectiveness. They claim that rapid consumption of coffee tricks the body into feeling full, thus temporarily suppressing appetite. However, there's a lack of substantial scientific evidence to support these claims.
The theory behind the 7-second loophole stems from the interaction between caffeine and hunger hormones. According to supporters, drinking black coffee stimulates the release of hormones like adrenaline and dopamine, which may momentarily curb appetite. The strategy behind the 7-second loophole is to strategically time coffee intake to diminish hunger and the desire to snack.
Despite its widespread popularity, it's essential to approach weight loss trends with caution. Substitutes, tricks, and hacks should complement, not replace, a balanced diet and healthy eating habits.

Maximizing Weight Loss Potential with Coffee

Unlock the full potential of coffee for weight loss with these expert tips:

The Coffee Loophole: Worth a Try?

Indulging in coffee blended with butter, oils, and spices has surged in popularity, with claims suggesting it aids in shedding pounds. However, the evidence supporting these assertions remains uncertain.
While it might slightly curb appetite, this concoction alone is unlikely to result in significant weight loss for the majority of individuals.
Nevertheless, incorporating it into a balanced lifestyle can be beneficial. Just manage your expectations and understand that no single solution can replace the importance of proper nutrition and regular exercise.
In summary, we acknowledge the potential benefits of the coffee loophole, but it's not a magical solution for weight loss. Enjoy it if you like it and if it complements your routine!

Disclaimers

Please note that relying solely on the coffee loophole is not a guaranteed method for losing weight. Individual outcomes may differ, and it's advisable to adopt a balanced lifestyle that includes healthy eating habits, consistent physical activity, and adequate rest. Prioritizing long-term sustainability is more important than seeking immediate solutions.

Final Thoughts

The allure of miracle weight loss products persists, fueled by unsubstantiated claims from supplement manufacturers and their social media endorsers. However, scientific evidence remains elusive. While some ingredients show potential for aiding weight loss, there's no magic formula for shedding pounds rapidly without embracing a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Rather than pursuing rapid weight loss, the focus should be on achieving sustainable, long-lasting results through healthy lifestyle changes. To embark on this journey effectively, it's crucial to seek guidance from healthcare professionals such as your doctor and a registered dietitian. They can craft a personalized weight loss plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences, setting you on the path towards lasting success.

2024.06.02 09:56 JadeSpeedster1718 Medicine Cats Idea

Medicine Cats
((Don’t mind me, I don’t have the patience for a full fanfic. So just here’s an excerpt that won’t leave my head))
Leafpaw looked at the half moon in the sky, feeling a sense of excitement and apprehension. Paws took her next to her mentor, Cinderpelt, trembling a bit under her.
“Excited?” Cinderpelt purred softly to her apprentice as they walked together. Taking it slow so not to cause any agitation to her mentor’s leg.
Gazing down at the forest floor, Leafpaw took a shaky breath. “Maybe? I’m also a little.. scared?” Her ears flicked slightly. She heard a deep purring hum next to her.
“I was too when I first made their journey.” Cinderpelt said softly to her with a bright look to her eyes. “Yellowfang spoke of many things I’d learn. She was sure Starclan would accept me. And I know they will you too.”
Leafpaw tries to believe that, but the more they walked, the more she felt so far away. It was like with each step she grew farther from what she knew and into something she didn’t know yet.
The journey to the Moonstone was silent, as the sounds of the night grew. Cinderpelt said it was a surprise what she’d see. And the nervous butterflies were back.
Approaching the mouth of the cave and other medicine cats seemed eerie. While Cinderpelt spoke to them, Leafpaw could only gaze into the darkness. Yet despite the crickets, Leafpaw’s ears flicked to sounds. Voices, hushed cats talking, but not a word could be made out. It sounded like so many of them.
Leafpaw tried to strain her ears, but was jolted but a nudge from her mentor. “Come along. And stay close.” Cinderpelt said softly to her, her steady voice calmed the anxiety that gathered in the apprentice’s chest.
Taking a breath, they walked together with the others into the darkness. It was like passing a threshold of some kind. The only way Leafpaw could describe it was akin to entering another Clan’s territory. The tingling feeling of being watched by sharp eyes. Of being in an area that didn’t smell nor look like home. Strange tenseness that had her fur wanting to prickle on end.
Yet, unlike cats of flesh and blood, this felt stronger. Ancient. And powerful. Like gazing into the eyes of a predator. With heavy paws and a dry mouth, Leafpaw made her way forward. Until light entered her vision of the large glowing rock formation.
Her mouth gapped open at it as her mentor stood a few paw steps in front. Cinderpelt looked back at her “just touch your nose to it, and Starclan will come.” Her voice still steady and soft.
Leafpaw took a shaky breath, eyes of many other cats. Some she could see as the other medicine cats, others in the shadows of the low light casted by the Moonstone. Taking steps forward, she pressed her nose to the cold stone.
For a moment the cold spiked through, down her spine and tail, making it bristle. Then… darkness covered her vision.
That however only lasted a brief moment. Before she opened her eyes to a clearing. And the sunlight dappling down through the leaves. Casting warm amber glow on the large tree, the gathering tree. Leafpaw gazed up at the sunlight through the tree leaves. She was sure this was more than a dream, she could feel the warmth of the sunlight. The faint breeze that carried the scent of grass.
Then movement caught her eye, her amber eyes flicked to it. As there stood another cat, but one she didn’t recognize at all. But the unmistakable scent of Thunderclan was on her pelt. Smooth and silk grey fur and a tail that was rather bushy.
Amber eyes bored back into her own. “You wish to walk with your ancestors?” Her voice was soft, yet carried weight. Leafpaw stared at her. “Then walk, follow, for a Medicine Cat can’t longer long in one place.”
The plummed tail vanished into the bushes. Leafpaw hesitated only for a moment, yet the words echoed into her mind. Determination sparked and she bounced after the other cat.
She weaves through the thick leaves and bushes. Gliding over roots and rocks. Eyes ahead catching the faint hint of silver fur ahead of her.
“We walk and run down the path of many spirits.” The voice ahead told her. “We do not linger for long on one spot, flowing forward like the rising and setting sun and moon.”
Leafpaw twisted and turned through the thick undergrowth. Then she skidded to a stop in a clearing. Looking around, and seeing no one but herself in the clearing. Then she felt like someone was behind her.
Whirling around she saw another cat, speckled Tom cat. Bright blue eyes looked at her with mischief, “We are always aware of everything.” He meowed to her leading her onward down another path. Leafpaw followed after him, rushing through the leaves that smacked at her whiskers.
“The wind as it blows and brings with it omens of fortune and faith. The bones as they speak of destiny and strength.” He told her looking at her as he lead her to the river side.
Leafpaw oddly didn’t feel tired looking at the water that divided Thunderclan from Riverclan. A pure white cat leaned down drinking from the crystal clear waters. Yellow eyes glowed with starlight, “We see signs in the flow of the water, the taste of rain, and faces of many other cats.”
His voice was steady, as Leafpaw felt names start to come to mind. Featherwhisker, Goosefeather, Cloudberry. Names that she did not know physically, but on a much deeper level.
A pure black cat brushed against her and motioned to follow with her tail. This time at a quiet walk through the forest again down path that Leafpaw didn’t know but felt old and familiar. “We learn not only medicine, but of the very soul and spirit. The names of the stars,” a leaf fell in front of them. “Of the coming of season in the very fall of leaves.”
Blue eyes regarded her with approval, Ravenwing purred to her. “For lives we can’t give we instead provide a way for the spirits to come a way into the world.”
They broke through the clearing, Leafpaw’s eyes widen in awe at she was being told. “But how can I be sure I am the right own for this?” She asked in a trembling voice as Ravenwing paded into the camp of Thunderclan. A distorted mix of what it looked through time.
“You won’t, until you take that first step.” A new voice said as a cat with back fur and a white tuff approached her. Leafpaw’s ears flicked down at how this felt. Powerful. Old. Ancient. Green eyes glowed brighter than any car she had seen.
“The path is long, it is not for many. And some do not make it to the end.” Cloud Spot looked at her calmly “but the rewards are great young Kit, someday you will be able to sense the smallest of changes just from the passing of sunlight.”
Leafpaw looked around at many cats, many faces, and names in the mind she felt connections to despite never meeting them until now. Then back to the old medicine cat in front of her.
“It starts with herbs and moves on, as you hone into a set of skills all your own. There is no pressure to learn it all, but to pace at the start and following your spirit.” Cloud Spot purred to her and pressed his nose to her head.
“Only if you accept it.”
Leafpaw swallowed hard and took a shaky breath. Yet the determination was back, firm and steady with her own heartbeat. Somehow her very soul wanted to leap out of her fur. She met the gazes of medicine cats past, those who would walk with her and teacher her along side Cinderpelt.
And she found the eyes of her mentor, watching her with encouragement and strength.
“I accept it.” Leafpaw’s voice did not quiver once. Setting it in place as she warmth from the muzzle on her head. A tongue licked her ears.
“Then we’ll walk with you and welcome you to do the same.” A tail brushed her flank gently as Leafpaw sat there with the others. “We welcome you Leafpaw, to the start of your journey.”
Warmth surged through her as the course of cats voices welcomed her among them. Despite being far from her clan, Leafpaw felt closer to them than ever before.

2024.06.02 09:55 AdInteresting2401 Sick through meditation? - German media

For some, intensive meditation can cause mental suffering. The predominantly positive image of meditation makes it difficult for those affected to be heard in the event of side effects, as SWR research shows.
By Linda Huber, SWR
Millions of people in Germany meditate regularly. The offerings range from apps and online courses to meditation in studios and multi-day retreats. According to a Statista Consumer Survey, almost one in four people between the ages of 18 and 64 have a meditation app on their cell phone. A Buddhist tradition has long since become a mass phenomenon and the market for mindfulness is booming, with meditation often being praised as a cure for stress and mental health problems. However, recent scientific studies show that intensive meditation can also trigger serious psychological side effects. This side effect is often ignored or trivialized, as research by the investigative format Vollbild revealed.
One in ten meditators suffers from side effects
In a ten-year long-term study, US psychologist Willoughby Britton from Brown University was able to prove that around one in ten meditators develop side effects that severely restrict them in their everyday life. According to Britton, anxiety, traumatic flashbacks and hypersensitivity are the most common side effects of meditation. German studies also point to undesirable side effects of meditation: a study by a working group at Charité Berlin found that a total of 22 percent of 1,397 meditating test subjects had undesirable effects. Of these, around nine percent were classified as mild and temporary, while 13 percent had moderate to extreme adverse effects that required treatment, were permanent or even required hospitalization.Negative effects often underestimatedResearch on meditation over the past 20 years has mostly shown positive effects such as the reduction of stress or depression. Psychologist Britton criticizes the research on contemplative practices and points out that the negative effects of meditation are often underestimated.
In Germany, the first contact point for victims of meditation side effects has been open for two years at the Institute for Frontier Areas of Psychology and Mental Hygiene in Freiburg. Psychologists Ulrich Ott and Liane Hofmann set up the contact point. They report that the consultation hours are already very popular and that the level of suffering of many of those affected is high. The psychologists suspect a high number of unreported cases and assume that there is a great need for counseling in Germany.
Panic attacks, hospitalization, suicide after meditation
Fullscreen has spoken to several people who have developed severe psychological problems after intensive meditation and had to be treated in a clinic. A 26-year-old student from Wiesbaden describes how he developed panic attacks after intensive meditation with an app and had to be treated in a clinic. A 28-year-old doctoral student from Düsseldorf reports that she developed delusions after an intensive retreat and had to be hospitalized, while a particularly drastic case from Canada shows extreme consequences: A young woman left a ten-day meditation retreat early and took her own life. Her mother reports that her daughter already felt unwell during the retreat. When asked, the meditation center explained that it was deeply saddened by the tragic incident. Teachers are trained to recognize signs of mental imbalance, and students are not asked to continue meditating if they are in distress.
Responsibility seen in meditators
The predominantly positive image of meditation often means that those affected have difficulty being heard and understood when side effects occur, and that providers often see meditators as being responsible.US researcher Britton also observes this: "Blaming the victim is probably the most common reaction. It comes in many different varieties." It is often said that the person has already brought the problems with them. The retreat or the provider are therefore not responsible. Or the person has meditated incorrectly. "The normal meditation teacher wants to be helpful, and then to hear that you have caused harm is a very difficult kind of feedback," says Britton. The psychologists Ott and Hofmann criticize the fact that meditation providers often deny responsibility for possible side effects: "It is of course also the responsibility of the providers to check in advance whether the people are mentally healthy, whether they are stable and not to deny all responsibility with such a disclaimer," says Ott. However, the offers often state: "Participation at your own risk. This clearly places the responsibility on the participants," says Ott.
No mandatory training, no monitoring
How little attention is paid to risks is also shown by an undercover investigation: in a self-experiment, Vollbild asked around 20 meditation providers for a course and stated that the supposed interested party had mental health problems. Only a few advised her to consult a doctor or therapist beforehand. The providers' websites did not provide any information on the risks and side effects of meditation in advance. In Germany, there is the Association of Mindfulness Teachers with eight training institutes and around 1,000 mindfulness teachers. According to full-screen research, undesirable side effects of meditation are an issue in training here. However, the training is voluntary. Anyone who wants to can offer meditation. There are no controls. This is another reason why many meditation teachers are apparently overwhelmed by the psychological damage and side effects of meditation.

Comments to the video:
"The fact that meditation or Buddhist practice in general (not just sitting) has dark sides has always been described. In Buddhist sutras, entire texts are dedicated to the spiritual decline of some practitioners. In Zen, "meditation sickness" is a well-known term, as is "lung" in Tibetan Buddhism. Various studies prove that there are often psychological problems, especially during intensive meditation sessions. For example, one psychologist describes that deprivatized sitting without movement can stress the neurons to such an extent that psychosis-like states can be reached. If you need help or would like more information on the possible symptoms and side effects (based on scientific data), please visit Cheetaw House, they can also help those affected. What Micki describes at the beginning is also something that I consider extremely dangerous, if any teacher says to you "you have to go through this", then you should distance yourself as quickly as possible. Meditation should never be associated with thoughts of self-optimization or the desire for eternal happiness, in Zen they say "Zen brings nothing", or you could say, seek neither happiness nor unhappiness, only in this way can an authentic path be realized, with in my opinion clearly more serenity. Unfortunately, it is not without reason that many practitioners have been saying for a long time that 80 percent of Buddhist offerings are not authentic. Just look at the charlatans who serve as role models these days: Hinnerk Polenski, Shi Heng Yi, Zensho W Kopp... All people who are self-proclaimed masters."
"Shi Heng Yi has never studied Shaolin Buddhism, but has a martial arts master title under an American, yet the Otterberg Temple claimed to teach people on official behalf of the Henan Mother Temple, the warning then came quickly, officially Shi Heng Yi has recently made the first pin in the Warrior Monk Duan Pin System, so he is at the level of a novice. Nevertheless, he sells books on Zen Buddhism and the like. (Shaolin is Chan, Japanese Zen) and also meditation courses with dubious people for thousands of euros, which of course has nothing to do with Zen or Shaolin. Then Hinnerk, could never prove his mastery, like many others of the controversial Oi Saidan lineage he was only in the monastery for a few weeks. Zensho W Kopp, claims to have received Zen mastery from a teacher, but as I said, this man is only a teacher and not a master and therefore cannot confer mastery, but has never claimed to do so. It is clear that this can only result in spiritual confusion, but people who have no prior knowledge of religious integrity find it difficult to differentiate. In the end, a spiritual ego is built. But that doesn't mean that the “authentic” path isn't full of stumbling blocks. Who wants to let go of their ego? For some it can actually brighten up life again, but I think it is much more difficult to find an authentic guru these days than the danger on the path itself. For Buddhist practice, at least in Zen, sitting meditation is not necessary.
“I do not wash my hands or shave my head, I do not read sutras or observe precepts, I do not burn incense, I do not do sitting meditation, I do not perform memorial ceremonies for a master or Buddha.”
Chin'g gak Kuksa Hyesim (1178-1234)
How about that? :)"

2024.06.02 09:55 Stupidladysadlady How can I help my husband with depression and not be so offensive while he is?

Hi people, first I thank everyone who read this all <3 I know it’s long but still like 1% of all. I need advice how to make my husband want to comunicate with me. We’re often arguing, bcz I’m slow and not skilled like him and not very clever, he has way better decision making etc. He taught me many things my parents didn’t. In some ways he was my parent more like my real parents, if you know what I mean. I know that I’m like this and now it’s way better when I realized it. But some things I can’t change even if I try. But we’re together since our 14years (now 12years, 1 married) so he knew me for long time before. Last argue he said that we should do some things separately, like go to gym etc, bcz I slow him and he don’t know how to live slow. There were many things, I can write whole book about this, but this is main problem - my stupidity and clumsiness. I drop things every day more than once. I’m learning to drive many months and I’m not very good after months (I have license, but didn’t drive bcz my fatherdidn’t want to teach me) and this os what made the whole thing worse and every drive ended in yelling and me making mistakes. We end yelling at each other and than we talk after hours in silence like nothing happened everytime. I thought that he was wrong, he thought I was wrong, but we love each other so we talked and many times I was apologizing. And than it is one big vicious circle. Because in 99% of cases he is in rush to spend more free time together. And he feels that I don’t give a ** about our time, but many times it is that I don’t realize my slowness, it’s not disinterest. We were always only me and him, families didn’t want us to be together. We couldn’t watch movie together bcz we could see each other only outside. Everytime we did all things together. And now (or it was always but I was blind, idk….) it’s more important where he is (or circumstances) than with who he is.
I give you example: Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary, we were in town and on the way home we went to buy food. He took one box of meat, I asked why only one (I wanted to do more food so that it would be ready for work the next day, as sometimes I am criticized for not caring enough) and he said that I should rather do more than speak. So I went back for the second one, he for something else, in the meantime he sent me to the cashier. We missed the bus by about 20-30 seconds, which I think would have happened anyway, since there were many people at the cashier. We arrived home about 20 minutes later than with 1. bus. Of course, he was nervous right away. We had a plan to go to the woods with the dog and then play a game at home. But the day ended for him because I slowed things, he is looking forward to when he will be at work and basically we had a fight and we haven't even talked since. In this case, it seems completely exaggerated to me. We could watch something on my mobile during that time, I had headphones, so we could also listen to something and have fun on the anniversary...he does mind a few extra minutes, but he doesn't mind hours and days of arguments and silence.
When I tell him my feelings, he’s like he doesn’t care because I don’t care. I begged him many times, that we should talk and not yell. So he talks but the same words that are killing me. And I want him to realize that it’s not all ONLY my fault. He sometimes make mistakes like everyone, but I’m not like this, I rather look for another solution and don’t make argument from this. But many times he didn’t do things he say, for example shopping, wash dish, do laundry (last time was my mistake I didn’t remind him while I was at work) etc…it was not important for him, but for me it was. Or he does things but than I listen for a week what he did. I don’t have cleanest home, bcz I rather spend time in other ways, but basics I try to do every day.
Many times after arguments he told me that he had depression or anxiety, because he want to be nice to me. But he says he don’t want to yell at me and than after few hours/days it’s the same. So he don’t want or want? In basic life he’s the best and cutest person I know.
He told me last argument, that he don’t know how to live different and that his father was rushing his mooooore than me. In past he wanted from me to slow him. And it’s my mistake I didn’t put more emphasis in it. But it’s rare that he do what I say, so I’m a bit used to not tell things. Now I realize, it can be result of me not keeping my word many times, bcz I thought that I can change myself, but some things I can’t or don’t know how yet. And I’m not very confident person and he’s like alfa, so I often think it’s pointless to say something, but I feel I need to change it.
I want to help him not to be so anxious and angry. And not in such rush. I want us to know how to enjoy life not only live. How can I start? He’s ignoring me completely.
tl;dr We are blaming each other for our mistakes, he’s angry because I’m not very smart and clumsy, so I slow him in life. But paradox is, that he’s in rush for spend time together, but than he don’t talk to me for hours. I think some things he’s blaming me for he should just accept like I accepted many his imperfections and accepted many similar situations. And need advice how to enjoy our life not only survive and make him talk to me.

2024.06.02 09:51 madvk Advice & suggestions

Hey there knife enthusiasts!
I'm looking for a new folding knife but I'm kinda overwhelmed so here I am.
I'm not knowledgeable in the world of knives. I have a Gerber and Buck which I think are good knives. I've handeld a cold steel knife and thought it was pretty good too.
I'm currently looking for a new adc. Some must haves are; - one handed opener - blade length 7cm and up - no rusting/staining materials - durable edge/locking/opening
No no are; - materials that rust - full serrated blades - automatic knifes (law)
I like the thumbstud but am open to try something else.
I'm seeing so many different knives I'm kinda overwhelmed. I'm in the EU so prices differ for some. For example I've seen multiple people talk about the Kershaw iridium which is around 50$ in the us? But it's 100€ over here. Lots of offers here are from civivi and böker. I've found that knivesandtools have the biggest online offer.
Can you guys maybe give me some suggestions? I was thinking about somewhere 60-80€ but am open to go ~100€. Are there any specifics to look for or avoid? If it is really worth it to spend more and get a Benchmade griptilian for 150?

2024.06.02 09:50 jinx_x27 tell me…

an email i considered sending to my therapist, but never sent. share any thoughts as you would like :) thank you to anyone who takes the time to read. let me know if you relate if you’d like.
little jacked up, admittedly probably shouldn’t have done the block or two home from the bar if i’m being honest. it’s kind of wild the way things change and stay the same. the level of disconnect and the lack of discernment between what is okay and what is not. knowing and not knowing… rationalizing? what is okay
and the sadness as you watch people succumb, over and over, more and more. and you stand back and watch as people simply take watch, observe the decline, yourself included. and you think, well, they don’t know any different. but if you’re asking yourself the question, if you all make the jokes that indicate the awareness with things left unsaid… i don’t know. it’s an incredibly sad world we live in some days
and there’s people that greet me upon entering, and these people say they adore me, their words. and i’m here wondering why they ask me these questions, truthfully why can’t you just recognize that i need more than 6 ft of distance for me to be okay with you talking this intensely. no ill intent, warmth, encouragement. and i want nothing more than to not be seen. it’s amazing, truly.
there are so many missed communications. and people just carry on, they just continue to whatever beat their drum drums. they continue to color inside the lines, they don’t dare to shake their status quo. not recognizing that their status quo is what keeps things where they are. not recognizing that if they see something , say something. and i think it’s even more sad if they do see it. i’m one of those people, and i can empathize because i feel powerless too.
it’s a wild wild world all the time
and yet, my aunt texts me just now, she says “ Thanks for listening to me all the time. You’re one of the very few people that I can talk to and know that you totally understand what I’m jabbering about. ” so i have meaning, i made impact. right?
we’re all witnesses to this shit. it’s wild
i must be more jacked up than i thought, to be shamelessly sharing.
i think too many people are in pain, with no means to get out. except they have the means, they have the help, they just can’t see it. it’s a profoundly sad world. and nonetheless, a good night . a night of sharing, of exchanges, of authentic conversation.
i don’t know. i don’t quite have the words
i know that im deeply grateful to have the space to express. and i know that i wouldn’t be here if not for you
how many people don’t have a version of you? how many people stumble blindly through whatever their shit is, unknowingly colluding
i don’t know
and what is there to do? the spouse of the alcoholic takes him in the car home, he’ll sleep in the car or on the couch. the father who texts his son thanking him for his honesty about having been drinking, and therefore isn’t going to pick up his dad. i tell him, that’s a great text from your dad. good on you. (he’ll appreciate that someday if he doesn’t already). did he hear me? was he more upset that i shouldn’t be looking over his shoulder? it wasn’t my business in the first place? he wouldn’t be wrong.. but i read it and wished id have heard it, so i said something. he thanked me, so maybe. but maybe not, maybe he thought fuck you. the brother that storms out on his sister over who knows what, what i hear as a “years long conflict, this happens at least every other time they get together.” and it’s normal, so let’s move on, let’s have fun. forget about it. under the rug it goes.
how are people not profoundly disturbed by this? how do they actively participate?
and how can i say that as i stand by and watch these things pass by because these people are 20-30 years older than me, i dont have the connection necessary to plant any seeds of change. and yet i have 5 minute conversations with people only to hear that they call me extraordinary, they say im destined for great things, always have been.
i don’t know. i don’t know what i feel
i just know that it’s difficult for me to interact with so many people that have no idea what to do. and i have the empathy. i didn’t, i don’t know what to do either. you just keep trying anyway, but they don’t seem to. they brush it off, they act like it’s nothing so as to minimize the discomfort, in an effort to save somebody’s feelings.
i don’t know. it’s a wild thing
nobody i know is ever malicious. i know malicious people exist, they are not the ones i know.
it’s insane to me the level of harm that can be done despite good intentions. and how disturbingly normal it is to watch and do nothing. nothing. sit back. they’ll figure it out. maybe. someday. maybe. hopefully.
it’s fucked up. what if they don’t? what if they need you to say something? what if they need to know that it’s seen, even if it’s uncomfortable, even if it hurts?
i don’t know. i’m not pointing the finger, im no different, im a participant as well
but im 24, i say, im only a kid compared to these people. cant be much different than the things they all tell themselves.
i don’t know.
it’s a weird thing.
and today was my dad’s 50th birthday . and i hugged him multiple times, trying to tell him i love him. trying to tell him to stay close. take care of yourself, i need you around. and yet im fuming over the treatment of my step-sister who still lives in his house. the lack of accountability taken. and how could you carry on this way. how could you not see what you’re doing. how could you continue to oppress, restrict another human being, another child of yours. i told you what it did to me, didn’t i? didn’t you listen? i thought you did.
but i love this man more than i give a fuck whether the sun rises the next day, and so i will give him grace. i will hug him tight because i don’t want him going anywhere. i see him laugh it up, i see him brush things off, i see him swallow, and make light. and i watch his body decay as the stress compounds. why? how? but i get it, too. i haven’t said anything either. that’s all we know
i care that he knows how much i love him, how much i need him, how much i yearn for closeness, for him to understand. i see the weight that you’re carrying that you tirelessly try to dismiss
i don’t know what to do with all of this sometimes there’s too much to be seen that isn’t said.
i’m highly analytical, im logical, im rational, im disconnected. and honestly i don’t know how else to exist, because feeling it all, watching it all
i don’t know sometimes. i don’t know
and it was a great night. it was a great night
too many paradoxes.
and i’ll wake up tomorrow, i’ll forget about this. i’ll be caught up in my own world. it will be out of sight out of mind
what can you do? are the messages i receive from people like my aunt enough? do i need to think better? it’s not like im not already cracking under my own weight. but would more mean more? do more? how do we all sit back like that. how do we all do that
blows my mind, and i understand it all the same.
crazy. crazy. crazy.
i hope you’ve been able to get some rest. it makes me wonder sometimes… did you abuse your body too like i have? is it a case of poor genetics? is it to be expected with aging? do you have regrets that you’re now paying the price for? or have you made your peace and you roll with the punches? what are the things you tell no one about? what are the things you try to forget? what are the things you deny but secretly know, the things that only you could possibly know? and am i projecting? is there a level of healing where that’s not what you think anymore? but at the end of the day, i think everybody has those, no matter how healed you think you are. is that reality or just mine?
do you have somebody too?
maybe it’s arrogant of me, but i don’t think i would sense, i don’t think i would suspect if there was nothing to know.
that pains me some days.
but maybe that’s the human part of this work. maybe i’m human, and you’re human, and we all have things left unseen and untouched, unsaid.
do i think that because im wounded? or is that how this thing we call life is? i don’t know.

2024.06.02 09:45 FourUnderscoreExKay 𝙰𝚜𝚙𝚑𝚘𝚍𝚎𝚕 — Where legends are made.

You might be asking yourself: What sort of place is Night City? Well, Night City is the place where the lawless and wealthy rule with an iron vise. Where the morally grey run rampant in the streets while the top 1% sit in their pristine "ivory towers" and watch over the rest of the unfortunate in total safety. Crime? A daily occurence, another regular day for everyone and as easy as breathing for most. Guns? Everybody has to one-up another. Friends? It's best to keep an eye watching your back before someone sticks a knife in it. It's a dog-eat-dog kind of place in Night City, and a keen eye over your shoulder is better than cold iron to the back of your head.
So why do people come to Night City, to this God-forsaken city? Is it to make scratch and build status? Or to escape from their old lives? Perhaps they are simply here in the endless corp rat race. In this city, you can be anyone. Do anything. Whether you choose to run the Net, be the goody two-shoe honourable lawman, carve your name into the underbelly of Night City's merc business, or just cause chaos, you can be anyone.
Welcome to Night City. Welcome to the City of Dreams. And welcome to Asphodel, where you become either extraordinary, or die ordinary.
So, who will you be, choom?

2024.06.02 09:44 Morgan123ThatsMe Are our cellphones "forcing" us to Mall World?

I wonder if we dream these dreams because of our phones. It may sound weird but our phones are a "mall" of sorts. I can "go" to any store on my phone just like I would if I was at a mall. My phone has "access" to restaurants like a mall, entertainment, I can watch a movie, meet new people etc.
We are constantly being bombarded by ads on our phones from countless retailers while we're awake, so I wonder if this has something to do with why we visit when we're asleep. Especially since most of us actually sleep with or very near to our phones. 😱
They even want us in "buy mode" while we're sleep basically. 🙄 Smh
Even though I don't always buy things at my Mall World or even go there specifically to "shop", we are so overwhelmed with the constant pressure to buy products that they can be influencing us even while we're sleep.
Online Shopping has taken over the real desire to actually want to go to a mall so I wonder if "they" have somehow programmed us to be in "buy mode" at all times and that's why we constantly visit our Mall World and it has such a nostalgic & familiar feeling because: 1.The Mall WAS an actual place that a lot of us would go to and enjoy before our phones took it over.
& 2.The Mall was a place that felt like WE were still in control because we CHOSE to go there and interact with retailers vs THEM forcing themselves upon US & MAKING us interact with them whether we want to or not via our cell phone devices.
Maybe we all subconsciously miss that feeling that a mall once brang us as consumers & our souls are trying to return us to that place when we sleep because we still had a sense of freedom there.
We almost have NO freedom when it comes to consumerism if we use a cellular device which I'm sure at least 95% of us that have these dreams do.
Do you guys get where I'm coming from or possibly trying to go with this?

2024.06.02 09:44 Vicksin Daily Run Guide - June 2nd, 2024

Daily Run Guide - June 2nd, 2024

Greetings, Trainers!

Yesterday was my "day off", which was unfortunate timing as I heard it was a tough daily. Apologies for my absence, it was unfortunately out of my control. Today is a new day, and we're back on the grind!
Notable catches include a Regenerator Mareanie (Toxapex pre-evo) and some great optimal natures, see "Catch Data" below the Guide for more info.
Really appreciate the support players have been sending to my Video Guides and YouTube Channel in all of this, your kindness truly means the world <3

Intro & Information

  • Why should I do the daily run?
    • They are extremely good for new players
    • You get 1 Premium Egg Voucher
      • A 10-pull of eggs
    • You get 1 Egg Voucher per Gym Leader (3 total)
      • 1 egg pull per Gym Leader, so 3 egg pulls or
      • 5 egg pulls per Gym Leader if it's your first time beating them
    • That's anywhere from 13 to 25 egg pulls depending on your account
    • You get to keep what you catch
      • This is great for rarer Pokémon spawns
      • Guaranteed IVs/nature if you follow the guide(s)
  • RNG pathing is seeded, so everyone will have the same results if they follow the exact same steps
    • Shiny Pokémon are client-side, so no Daily Run Pokémon can guarantee shinies
    • Abilities, Natures, and IVs will be the same
  • As long as you start the daily run before the day resets, you can come back to it at any time, for full rewards! The save remains intact regardless of when you load it up, just know you can't create more instances. Once the daily is gone, it's gone.

Discrepancies/Help, this didn't work!

I can't stress enough that literally every little detail matters
  • I've included a video guide if you want to follow along and see what I'm doing
  • Reload (f5 or Menu > Save and Quit) whenever I reload
    • Do not reload when I don't reload
    • A different amount of reloads will change the path
      • Some users have reported they accidentally reloaded but it worked fine, but we also have confirmed cases of rerolling when you're not supposed to changing the spawns, so don't risk it!
  • Ensure you're on a Chromium-based browser
    • Google Chrome, Opera/Opera GX, Microsoft Edge, etc are some Chromium browsers
    • Mozilla Firefox or playing the game offline may result in a different seed
  • Do not switch between devices in the middle of your Daily Run, as it may cause desyncs
  • Follow this guide exactly
    • Learn/forget the same moves I learn/forget
    • Reroll/grab the exact same store items
    • etc
  • I'm happy to provide assistance in the comments below as well!!

Guide

If forgetting/learning a move is not mentioned, it means skip the new move.

ECO

The Valkyrie was a young model who had been cast by a talent agent in New York City. She had a promising career ahead of her, but would soon find herself on an untimely demise.

Case File

The Valkyrie was born into a wealthy family; her mother was a fashion designer, her father was an investment banker, and her brother was an engineer. Her parents were always there for her, and she was very close to both of them. They were all very supportive of her decision to pursue acting.
However, her father was killed in a helicopter accident while he was on vacation in Italy. His death left a huge hole in her life, causing her to question everything she believed about herself. She felt like a failure, and she began to lose touch with reality.
One day, she found herself at a bar, where she made a friend named Fodder. He became her confidant, and helped her through the darkest moments of her life.
Together, they would make a name for themselves in the industry. They would go on to win awards and accolades for their work. They would be recognized as the most successful couple in Hollywood.
But then, they would part ways. The Valkyrie would move back home, and Fodder would move to Los Angeles. They never saw each other again, though they remained friends.
The story of The Valkyrie is one of love, loss, and redemption. It shows how one person can change the world, if given the chance.

The Raven was a beautiful woman. She was tall, with long, dark hair and eyes. She was kind, caring, and intelligent. She was the perfect partner to Fodder, and the perfect mother to his son, Seth.
But something happened during one of their many trips together. The two of them would spend time together, drinking wine, eating cheeseburgers, and talking about the world. They would laugh and joke around with one another. But then, one afternoon, The Raven would disappear.
Seth would search everywhere for his mother, but she would not return. The police were unable to find her. They could not locate any trace of her.
The next morning, Seth would awake to a note from his mother. She had written:
Dear Seth,
Today has been hard for me. It is so sad to see you missing your mother. But I am proud of you for standing up for what is right. You have my support. Love, Mother

2024.06.02 09:38 En_Djinn Twist Refund Policy

I'll make a post since it seems Blizzard don't want to spread the news:
Nerfs to Twist Heroic Decks via Health changes/Hero PowePassive changes will NOT result in a dust refund for the card used to access that deck.
Arfus is going to get nerfed within the next 7 days with likely a health change and a bug fix for the excavate rewards. YOU WILL NOT GET DUST FOR ARFUS. HE IS NOT 'FREE'. Only DIRECT card changes result in dust refunds with very edge cases scenarios like the watch post guy.
Some people seem to not know this, I had loads on stream saying "will I get a refund" or "is arfus free" since the only source we have for this is Twitter and Twitch chat comments.

2024.06.02 09:36 mangoflavouredpanda Friends to something else

I often read/hear about people who had a friend of the opposite sex for many years that suddenly they decided to sleep with... And then the friend went cold and even ghosted them in a lot of cases. I was just wondering how many people this has happened to? Or, if you were the one who ghosted, why? And how long were you friends, and did you know all along you didn't feel a special way about them?

2024.06.02 09:36 WeirdElk7841 A defense of Under the Dome's ending [spoilers, obv]

For the last few weeks, I've been doing a read-through of King's oeuvre for the first time in well over a decade, both re-reading a lot of my favorite books from my initial middle school King-obsession phase and even reading a few I never got around to the first time around (The Outsider wasn't even a twinkle in SK's eye at the time; I thought it was pretty good).
Right after finishing It (it holds up!), I started in on Under the Dome, only really intending to hit those gripping early high points; while I can tear through King's extremely-readable books pretty fast these days, it's still quite long, so I kept telling myself I'd only keep reading until the next chapter break (especially since I remembered being rather cool on the denouement when I read it upon release in 2009).
Long story short, pun intended, I was back at the end within a couple days. Ending spoilers, ofc, after this:
I think knowing what was gonna happen the second time around probably prepared me to be more understanding. Certainly it's not a perfect book, and I couldn't object to anyone saying that it feels like he took the easy way out with the deus ex machina route.
Yet, I think the entire thing being attributable to bored extraterrestrial juveniles fucking with them for kicks is thematically sensible, because, well... we, the audience, are essentially the leatherheads. We are the ones who are getting our kicks by witnessing these characters' squalid misadventures, by way of King's imagination creating this obstacle for them to struggle against.
Granted, it's not a perfect allegory. For instance, King chooses what happens to them, not us (as evinced by the fact that most people would have chosen a different ending). Still: the people of Chester's Mill really and truly do only exist for the reader's amusement, and if aliens were watching me and you, they might clinically take note of something a little sadistic about the satisfaction Constant Readers derive from devouring this and all of King's other, beautifully grisly tales.
Now, if I perceived this parallel as an attempt by King to admonish the audience for our enjoyment of the fucked-up story, as some writers do (Scorsese and The Wolf of Wall Street comes to mind), I would find it cheaply deployed here. You've made a half-billion dollars from our love of reading horrorbooks, you can't get on your high horse here, SK!
But I don't think that's the most parsimonious reading of the allegory. King doesn't think there's anything immoral about his putting fictional characters through the wringer, or our enjoying reading about it. Fictional characters are basically a class of beings who exist to be acted upon in any fashion without triggering moral sanction. The one leatherhead girl who saves the day at the end puts a very fine point on it when she asks Julia, at said climax: "How can you have lives if you aren't real?"
And, of course, within the text of the novel, we see the leatherheads are not the only characters who view other characters as merely fodder to be acted upon. Hackermeyer views the Iraqis this way; the bullies view Julia this way; Big Jim seems to view everyone else this way. Even Junior and his "girlfriends" can be viewed as an extension of the heartless style.
Indeed, the leatherheads' actions are arguably amongst the most defensible in the story: we are naturally prone to see the leatherheads' treatment of the earthlings as cruel, but from their perspective, surely even the one leatherhead girl who takes pity and picks up the dome doesn't actually appear to feel they've done anything wrong by fucking with these little creatures whose sentience she's only beginning to perceive. Yet she still takes that "step in the right direction" and gives them back their "little lives."
What does this mean, metatextually? It can't mean Stephen King thinks he should stop writing books where characters get put through the ringer, or that we should stop reading them. Nor can it mean that stories are only moral if they have some semblance of a happy ending (certainly almost every character had already lost their "little life" before the dome is lifted, and some of his later books end even more bleakly).
What I take away from it is that we are encouraged to be radically open to the possibility that at all times, even if we think our actions are in a vacuum and can't impact any other sentience with a claim to fair treatment, we are being confronted with the opportunity to act in a way that confers either respect or contempt on some other's "little life."
We aren't always even cognizant of this -- but whenever we do recognize that we have the chance to choose respect over contempt, and choose the former, we are moving, even if infinitesimally, in the right direction. The struggle will always continue, and never end: "Sooner or later, the blood always hits the wall." But we ought to keep on fighting the good fight regardless.
[I will also say that if I perceived "the book is about the audience watching the characters" as a thematic well that King went back to many times, that would make this ending much cheaper in my estimation. But I don't really think that's the case: the particular framing device of the Dome as keeping the Chester's Mill folk in a science experiment, where even the other earthlings outside the dome become a proxy for the audience, I think makes this a rather unique audience-allegory in King's bibliography. And I think i works. Even if you agree with my reading and still think it cheap, of course, that's perfectly fine, too.]

2024.06.02 09:36 JoshAsdvgi The Foundling who was befriend by Wolves

The Foundling Who Was Befriended by Wolves
The elder of two brothers was very expert at catching eagles.
He would cover a hole with leaves and brush, place on top the carcass of some animal, and hide underneath until an eagle settled on the brush to eat the meat.
Then he would seize the bird’s legs, draw it inside, and kill it.
Once he caught a big red eagle, but not wishing to kill such a bird he let it fly away.
The younger boy now begged permission to catch eagles also.
The elder refused him three times. The fourth time he consented, but warned the lad not to touch a big red eagle.
So the boy concealed himself in the trap.
One of the smaller eagles soared down and began to eat the meat.
The boy caught and killed it without difficulty.
Another settled on the trap, then a third. Those also he killed.
Then came a big red eagle. Forgetting his brother’s warning and tempted by its bright feathers, he seized its wing and tried to drag it down.
The eagle, however, was too strong. It pulled him out of the trap and carried him far away.
His brother looked for him that evening, saw the gaping hole in the trap, and knowing what had happened sat down and wept.
He wept and wept, until he shriveled up and became a tiny baby again.
An old woman who was traveling to one side of a party happened to hear the baby cry.
She picked it up, wrapped it in her blanket, gathered some of the feathers that were strewn about, and hurried on to rejoin her people.
In the party were her ten sons.
As the eldest was pitching his tent that evening, she said to him, “Back yonder on the hill I found a little baby and brought it along with me.
May we sleep in your tent tonight?”
“No”, he answered gruffly. “The child will disturb us too much.”
She approached the second son, the third, the fourth; each rejected her in almost the same words.
Last of all, she approached the tenth and youngest.
“Yes, mother, come in and bring your baby with you.
He will be a little brother to me.”
So the old woman lodged with her youngest son, to whom she gave her eagle feathers.
The years passed by, and her baby grew into a sturdy youth.
One winter the Indians set up their tents beside a large pond and began to scour the countryside for buffalo. Not an animal could they find anywhere.
Before long their supply of food ran low, yet they would not move away, for they still hoped that one or more herds would appear in their neighbourhood.
While they were idly waiting, the chief of the band tried to capture two foxes that had made their dens in the vicinity, but the animals were too cunning for him.
Annoyed at the failure, he sent a crier round the camp to proclaim that the man who brought him their skins might marry one of his daughters.
All the best hunters went out to try their skill but failed — the foxes outwitted every one.
One day the boy brought some sticks into his foster-grandmother’s tent and began to make a bow and arrows.
She said to him, “What are you going to shoot, my grandson?”
“I am going to try for the foxes.”
“Foolish boy. If the best hunters in the camp can’t catch them, you certainly will not succeed.”
“I can at least try. It may be that I can shoot them with my arrows.”
The grandmother only laughed; she said no more.
Unnoticed by anyone in the camp, the boy slipped away the next morning and hid near one of the dens.
A fox emerged and wandered away.
As soon as it disappeared, he planted a circle of pointed sticks around the hole, then hid again and waited.
Not long afterwards the fox returned, spied the watching lad, and darted for its hole.
The sharp sticks pierced its neck and killed it. The boy killed the other fox in exactly the same manner and, concealing the furs under his coat, he started for home.
As he trudged along, snow fell and obliterated his tracks so that no one discovered where he had been.
Outside his tent he stopped, glanced quickly round, and concealed his furs in a heap of firewood.
Then he went inside and sat down without saying a word.
His grandmother looked up and asked:
“Where have you been?”
“Oh, I just went out and caught the foxes.”
She laughed again.
“Oh, but I will prove it,” he said.
And going outside he plucked a few hairs from the furs and brought them in to her.
“You shouldn’t pull the hair out of our dogs,” she said. “The weather is very cold, and they need all their fur.”
Three times he brought in scraps of the fox fur, and each time she declared that he had pulled them out of the dogs.
The fourth time he brought in the furs themselves.
The old woman gazed at them in amazement.
At last she said, “My grandchild, you have been very lucky.
But you are too young to marry one of the chief’s daughters.
You had better give the furs to one of your brothers.”
The boy did not answer.
In the evening she told her younger son what had happened.
Loudly he voiced his praise and said to the boy:
“Don’t give the furs to anyone else.
Take them to the chief yourself.”
At dawn the people discovered that the foxes were missing and informed the chief, who walked through the camp crying before every tent, “Who killed the foxes?”
No one answered him. None of the hunters could produce the furs, and no one thought of the poor orphan lad.
Greatly perplexed, the chief retired to his tent again.
The sun had reached noon when the old woman, concealing the furs under her robe, stole inside the tent and sat down humbly at the right of the door.
The chief looked up and said to his family, “This old woman has never visited me before.
Feed her well, and then let her tell us what she wants.”
They fed her, but instead of announcing why she had come, she quietly slipped through the door and returned home.
“I brought the furs back,” she said to the boy.
“You are such a poor wretched orphan that I was ashamed to tell him.”
Before he could reply, her own son spoke up, “You did wrong, mother.
You should have told the chief.
Go back now and give him the furs.”
The old woman went out slowly.
Presently she returned with her message again undelivered.
He sent her a third time but shame still sealed her lips.
Driven back for the fourth time, she sat with bowed head inside the doorway vainly trying to muster up her courage.
At last she rose to steal outside again but as she stooped to pass through the door, the fox’s tail slipped down into view below her robe.
With one bound the chief pulled it away from her, seized the other fox fur also, and cried, “Now — which of your sons was it that killed them?”
“It was my foster-grandson”, she murmured.
“I was too ashamed to give you the furs before.”
The chief sat down in silence, and his elder daughter turned her face away in disgust. But the younger girl cried out, “If her grandson has killed the foxes, I will marry him.”
So the younger girl returned with the old woman and married the youth, while her sister remained with her father.
Three days passed without incident.
On the fourth, the youth said to his bride, “Tell your father to build the pound higher and to keep a sharp watch, for tomorrow I am going to drive in some buffalo”.
The girl carried his message to her father, who issued the necessary orders to his people.
He was a wise old man and realized that the orphan possessed great medicine-power.
Most of the hunters, however, ridiculed the youth, and the boys in the camp pelted him with clods when he started out at dawn for the hunting grounds.
All that morning the camp waited expectantly.
A party that left before the orphan had returned empty-handed and reported that there was no sign of game. The sun was already low when a watchman excitedly signaled that a large herd of buffalo was approaching the pound, driven by someone he could not distinguish.
It was the orphan, who, having changed himself into a wolf as soon as the camp was out of sight, had rounded up the animals and now in his proper form was herding them toward the corral.
Glowing with pride, the old chief shouted to his followers, “Come and watch my son-in-law drive in the buffalo.”
As the last of the buffalo stampeded into the pound, the Indians closed the barrier, mounted the ramparts, and shot them down.
Not one escaped.
Then they butchered them and divided the meat and hides among all the families in the camp.
Next day the youth drove in more buffalo, and still more on the third day.
At daybreak on the fourth he said to his wife, “Tell your father to strengthen the pound, because in today’s herd will come the biggest animal he has ever seen.
That animal he must reserve for me to kill.”
The herd he drove in that day was even larger than the three earlier ones.
He did not stay to watch the massacre, but retired to his tent, where he ordered his wife to comb and dress her hair.
Then from behind his sleeping place he mysteriously produced two beautiful costumes, one for her and one for himself.
Arraying themselves in these garments, they proceeded to the pound, where the hunters had killed all the buffalo except the giant animal he had specially reserved for his own arrows.
He shot this last buffalo, and his wife carried the meat in a precious otter skin to his tent.
There she disdained to wash the skin, but scornfully threw it away, for now she and her husband were so prosperous that even an otter skin possessed little value in their eyes.
Henceforth the camp recognized the orphan youth as its leader and promptly obeyed whatever commands he issued through the old chief, his father-in-law.
Yet there was one person who hated him — his wife’s older sister, the girl who had scorned him in the days of his poverty.
If her parents offered her meat from any buffalo he had driven into the pound, she flung it to the ground in contempt.
Constantly did she spy on his movements in the hope that her “medicine”, which was a mole, might be able to work him some injury.
Now the youth frequently visited a hilltop above the camp and often slept there.
One day the girl discovered him asleep and sent her mole-spirit to tunnel the ground under his body.
The mole did its work so well that the earth collapsed and precipitated him into a deep pit, from which he could not get out.
Then day after day his sister-in-law climbed the hill and mockingly threw dirt in his face.
In vain he cried for mercy and begged her to help him out, or a t least to tell his people.
She merely derided his misery. Not knowing what had become of him, his people concluded that he had perished.
Even his own wife gave up all hope and went into mourning for him.
Now that they had no one to drive the buffalo into their pound the Indians moved away.
Then a wolf that was prowling for food round the deserted campsite discovered the youth, and howled.
Soon a whole pack gathered about the pit.
The mother wolf said to them:
“Whoever succeeds in extricating this man may take him for her son.”
The animals scratched vigorously, but no sooner had they loosened the earth all around than the old wolf herself caught hold of him and pulled him out.
She adopted him as her son and allowed him to join the wanderings of her pack.
At night, because he no longer owned a blanket, the wolves made a soft mattress for him by spreading their tails together on the ground; but within two or three days they killed a buffalo, whose hide provided him with a warm robe.
This pack of wolves roaming in the vicinity spoiled the hunting of the youth’s people, who set traps to catch them.
But the youth protected his companions by breaking the traps.
The old chief awakened one night and listened to their howling.
“Hark,” he said. “I seem to hear a man calling to those wolves.”
He roused the hunters, who intercepted the pack and seized the youth as he ran in front of it.
The prisoner tried to bite them, but they said, “Don’t bite. You haven’t yet changed to a wolf.”
They then led him quietly home, where he settled down again with his wife and people.
Every night thereafter he lay awake in his tent, listening for the howl of his foster-mother.
For several nights he could not hear it.
Then one day he saw her skin drying outside a hunter’s tent for she had wandered away from the pack and had been caught in a trap.
The youth sent his grandmother to ask for the skin.
When she handed it to him, he grunted over it four times, at the fourth grunt it became a live wolf again.
He set the animal free and it returned to the prairies.
Thus he repaid his debt to his foster-mother.
He now resumed his hunting and rounded up a large herd of buffalo.
As the animals trotted over the plain, he called to a young heifer, “When my arrow strikes you, leap over the rampart of the pound and flee to that tall poplar beyond the hill.
Then lie down and die.”
The Indians slaughtered all the buffalo he drove into the pound except the young heifer, which leaped the rampart and fled over the hill.
The youth shouted to his wife, “Come with me.
We will follow it”.
“Let me go too”, cried his sister-in-law.
“Yes, you may come”, he answered.
So the two women accompanied him to the dead heifer and watched him butcher it.
“There is your load,” he said to his wife. “Carry it to our tent.”
“Give me a load also”, his sister-in-law demanded.
“Yes here is a load for you too.
You can use the intestine of the heifer for your pack-strap.”
The two women started back with their loads but had traveled only a very short distance when the intestine broke and the elder woman’s pack fell to the ground.
While she was retying it, her sister walked on and disappeared over the top of the hill.
Then the youth, who had lingered behind, began to howl like a wolf.
“Why do you howl like that?” his sister-in-law asked anxiously.
Without answering he turned his back to her and howled three times again.
Suddenly a pack of wolves appeared –his foster family.
They pounced on the woman and devoured her.

2024.06.02 09:35 Jolly_Coyote_9929 They ruin each and every vacation

Sorry I need to rant a little bit.
My exPwBPD (m) and my exbestfriendwBPD (f) literally ruined each and every vacation together. I went seperatly with each of them, but they both were diagnosed BPDs.
(Both lied to me about their diagnosis ("it's just autism, it's just depression from childhood trauma!!"). I found out very late in the relationship/friendship they were - in fact - diagnosed BPDs.)
They both never did anything for the planing/organizing, it was always everything on me. Apparently, it was too much work to go on a website and look for nice hotel rooms and early flights. Even if I told them like 5 times to get their arse up and just do the thing, still they FoRGoT about it and "wHy Do YoU GeT sO UpSET?". Meanwhile, the prices for the flights went trough the roof and of course, I had to pay for most of it because they were always short on money.
And boy, when we finally arrived at our holiday destinations, did they ruin everything. They weather's too cold/warm, the pool is too crowded, the food is bad, they are tired and don't like to go out. The one thing they wanted to do so bad/visit was suddenly not interesting enough anymore ("no I want to stay in the hotel room now!! Watch tv and listen to true crime!!"). Wtf?
Mind you, I even paid for her (exbestfriends) vacations twice, because she was broke and in debt for the 100000 time. And she was still bitching about each and everything for the whole f**** 9 days we spent on a beautiful island. I lost like 3'500 $ during this "friendship" on her due to the fact that she was always short on money and I felt so bad for her (her dad left her family, her exes were all narcissicst and she suffers from really bad depression!!).
Same with exPwBPD, he always found something to moan about and ruin everything with his bad moods.
I'm so done with this. I lost so much money and time to those ungrateful people. I left him a few years ago and got discarded by her a few months ago because I found out about all her lies and the sh*tload of debt she is sitting on. But I still feel so dumb spending so much money and putting in so much work just to make those mentally ill people happy, who didn't even wanted to have a good time. Seems like the only good time they have is when they use and abuse you and then whine about everyhting and play victim.
Thanky you for reading.
