2024.05.19 06:22 Fine-Eye4953 [OoT3d] First Time playing Ocarina of Time / A Zelda game - Is it supposed to be this frustrating???

Might be hard to believe, but growing up I had never played a Zelda game (yes people like me exist haha) so I figured better to start late than never. I had recently found and dusted off my old 3DS I found in the back of the closet and took the opportunity to look at old games I missed out on growing up. As I combed through the 3DS' most popular games and people's recommendations, one that kept sticking out was "Ocarina of Time 3D", universally praised and ranked number one on a lot of people's lists. So as someone 26+ years late to the party, I thought I'd finally play my first Zelda game.
So far, I'm loving the game. It's fun and charming, the atmosphere is so nice and immersive, and I finally discovered all the iconic music and sound effects I've heard for YEARS in other stuff LOL. Currently I'm still early on in the game, just landed into the Royal Family's Tomb in Kakariko Village.
I've got a huge question though, is the game supposed to be frustrating and hard to follow? I'm no stranger to these types of games and am used to exploring, backtracking and traveling, but I kept getting stuck ALOT.
In the beginning of the game at Kokiri village, I got stuck immediately. I was told to go find a "Sword and Shield" before I could see the great deku tree. So I went to the shop and bought a shield, and then thought "Well they got a stick for sale in here, so maybe that's the make shift sword for now?" but obviously that wasn't it. After running around the village more, I found the entrance to the The Lost woods. Being such a grand opening of an entrance I thought I was supposed to go in there to find a sword. After running around for 15 more minutes and getting lost over and over I realized this wasn't it either. So after running around the village more I found the crawlspace to learn how to dodge the moving boulder and found nothing again? But I figured that couldn't be it so I keep running around in circles and missed the chest THREE times because of the game's camera controls (maybe this is just a 3ds version issue?). Was I supposed to have a hard time finding the first sword? No one told me it would be at the back of town, behind a small crawlspace, past a moving boulder. The only clue I got was "You need a sword and shield to pass through here". I thought it honestly seemed more like a place to find a secret item, rather than an important story piece?
When I progressed to Hyrule Castle to try and see the princess, I got stuck again. During the portion where you have to sneak past the guards, I found the vines growing on the side of the wall. And after sneaking past to the side of the castle, I found an old guy sleeping? He wouldn't wake up no matter how many times I talked to him and I couldn't figure out what to do. So I thought I missed something and went back to town. When I couldn't find anything different in town I went back to the castle and noticed there was a girl named Malon standing next to the vines now. I talked to her and she said her dad fell asleep on his way to the castle during a delivery and asked if I could "wake him up". I thought "ah, now that I've talked to this girl I can wake up that guy". I did think it was really weird how she wasn't there before hand though, shouldn't she have been there the first time I tried to sneak in? Anyway I snuck to the side of the castle again and the guy WOULDN'T WAKE UP. I was super confused why he wouldn't wake up after I talked to Malon. After running around for 10 minutes and finding nothing, I decided to look up a guide. It turns out Malon gives you an egg, but only after you talk to her TWICE. She only gives you the important item you need if you speak to her again, after she finishes talking the first time?? Wouldn't it make more sense for her to say "hey can you wake up my dad if you find him? Also here is an egg" all in one? Why would I need to talk to her two times in a row for the progression item I need? Anyway, I got the egg and snuck past the guards again and when I made it to her dad it hatched into a chicken. I'm going to be real here, I got stuck again lol. I thought I would just talk to Malon's sleeping dad and he would finally wake up and I would give him a chicken as a gift? I knew chickens were animals in Zelda (and that you're never supposed to attack one) but it didn't even occur to me that the chicken in my inventory was an item to be equipped and used to wake up Malon's dad. I had to look at another guide for that one.
My third time getting stuck was after I talked to Zelda for the first time. After I talked to Zelda for the first time, I got to see the cool cutscene and spy on Ganon in the window. Afterwards, I get the Princess note thing and Zelda stops talking to me (I'm free to move around). At this point, I had been playing for over 2 hours so I saved and closed the game. When I came back to it later in the day, I was SUPER CONFUSED why I was back in Kokiri village. After looking it up, I get sent back there every time I save and close the game unless it's a dungeon?? Shouldn't that be a warning when you save?? "Warning, closing your game will have you awake in your bed in Kokiri village the next time you continue". I was really frustrated that I had to run back to Hyrule on foot, sneak past all the guards AGAIN, and then when I talked to Zelda I had to watch the cutscene AGAIN. It only took like 17 minutes, so it wasn't a huge deal but it was really frustrating how saving and closing the game made me lose progress.
The most recent time I got stuck was at the graveyard in Kakariko Village. After entering Kakariko village, I couldn't find anything to do since I couldn't progress into the mountain without the King's permission. I kept hearing about the graveyard though, so I figured that's where I should go next. I found the graveyard at the edge of town and read the gravestones one by one. When I got to the royal family's tomb some ghost popped out and I defeated them. The ghost told me some things and then disappeared afterwards. After that, I thought I was done in the graveyard, no chests, no branching paths, just the graveyard tour which I assumed was a minigame to get some rupees?. My train of thought was, okay so now maybe the king will be in town and I need to find him so he will give me permission to enter the mountain, I'll probably need to play my ocarina for him since Impa said the song will give me credibility for knowing the royal family. Guess who was wrong lol. I spent 30 minutes running around town checking every nook and cranny for something that would progress me forward. I gave up and looked at a guide again. Turns out I needed to play my ocarina at the royal family tomb to progress forward. Was I supposed to know to do that??? Did I miss some dialog at some point that tells me if I see a triforce symbol to play my ocarina on it? No one told me to do that. It seemed obvious when I thought about it, but there wasn't any tutorial or hints from Navi about it.
Am I just incompetent?? Is progression in OOT supposed to be smooth sailing and I'm just fumbling the bag? I'm genuinely confused why I got stuck so many times this early on in the game. It's just really frustrating and disrupts the flow of what would other wise seem like a great story. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to keep playing, I love the gameplay and the visuals so far, plus it's kind of exciting since it's my first Zelda game. But man, is it supposed to be this frustrating for me? Are all Zelda games like this? Or is this just how games were in 1998? Am I just bad at this game? Lol

2024.05.18 22:37 Alex72598 Scooby-Doo and the Curse of Atlantis (my idea for what the 5th Mook Animation film could have been)

To provide some context, Mook Animation is a Japanese studio who is responsible for arguably the four most iconic Scooby-Doo films of all time: Zombie Island, Witch’s Ghost, Alien Invaders, and Cyber Chase. These films focused more on horror / supernatural elements, with a key element of each being that they featured real monsters and gave more depth to the gang’s personalities than the classic cartoons. Mook’s involvement with the franchise ended after Cyber Chase in 2001, due to clashes with the execs at Warner Bros. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I would want from a 5th film in this style, and this is the idea I came up with.
It would be titled “The Curse of Atlantis” and be released in 2002, with the same voice cast returning from Cyber Chase (Scott Innes as Shaggy and BJ Ward as Velma). For this film, I would tweak the formula and go for more of an anime / steampunk vibe (the final act features the gang using mech suits to fight off an army of Atlantean spirits unleashed by the villain, while the villain and one of the other protagonists fight one on one). I would really like the film to be done in traditional cel animation like the first three Mook films, but almost certainly it would be done in digital animation, like Cyber Chase.
Aside from the gang, these would be the characters introduced in this movie:

The curse is connected to a magical stone tablet imbued with the power of the gods (which led the group to Atlantis) which is Oliver was able to unleash the spirits. The tablet is a holy relic which is traditionally held by kings and contains immense power, but if the tablet is damaged or destroyed, a curse is unleashed upon its holder. This is how the island of Atlantis was originally cursed by the gods, as the hubris of the Atlanteans caused the tablet to be damaged and lost as sea during battle, it’s also how Oliver is defeated.
The film would be more explicitly connected to the previous 4 films canon wise, as Eric from Cyber Chase would make an early appearance recommending the gang’s services in translating the tablet, while Crystal and Amber from Alien Invaders are also mentioned while the gang are on Atlantis, as Shaggy and Scooby are wondering if any of the advanced technology on Atlantis could be used to contact them. Maybe there could also be a Hex Girls poster in the mystery machine as an Easter egg.
The first act involves the story of the fall of Atlantis being told as a frame narrative, which is then revealed to be a lecture from Oliver, who is later revealed to be planning an expedition to Atlantis with his wealthy friends Naomi and Elliot, who are funding everything. The trio have been unable to find anyone who can translate the tablet, until Eric, who is a student at the same university, points them towards mystery Inc. Velma succeeds in translating the tablet and the gang are invited to join the expedition as thanks.
Shaggy and Scooby would be chased by Atlantean spirits on the ship, which raises some suspicion for the gang about what’s really going on. Later, the gang would spend a day on Atlantis getting up to their usual shenanigans, but the spirits would return to cause trouble again, and Fred would come up with a plan to trap them. That night, they would lure the spirits into the trap, with it actually working perfectly on the first try, and the spirits would be unmasked and revealed as the crew members trying to scare them off before they realize that the main trio are here to loot the city.
Suddenly, said trio would appear carting out priceless treasures, but once Oliver realizes the charade is over, he betrays everyone else and reveals that his true intentions are far worse, as he plans to use the might of Atlantis’ advanced weaponry to subjugate the world to his will, as his ancestors once sought to do until they lost the tablet (Oliver and Naomi are both descended from Atlanteans who escaped the island’s original fate and spread out across the world). Oliver would then use the tablet to unleash an army of real Atlantean spirits which capture the gang, but they make a getaway thanks to Zola, their tour guide from earlier. During this chase, an original song would play called “Atlantis Awakened”. This leads to the aforementioned final act.
Like Ben from Witch’s Ghost, Oliver ends up having a “fate worse than death” defeat, as the spirits turn against him when the tablet is destroyed, and prevent him from escaping as the island sinks back into the ocean. The implication is that he will face the wrath of the gods alone, while the other Atlanteans will be spared, and all we see is his pure terror as he vanishes beneath the waves along with Atlantis.
The film would deal with the theme of whether the outside world is ready to coexist with Atlantis, and if they can be trusted to use Atlantean technology for good, with the answer being left at “not yet”, as even Zola, who has always been optimistic on this, concedes in the end. Meanwhile, despite being passionate about this subject, and having the potential to become rich and famous beyond their wildest dreams, Naomi and Elliot decide it’s best to ditch any evidence of Atlantis and tell the world it’s just a myth after all. Throughout the film, I envision the score being very thoughtful and mysterious, yet also melancholy, as it’s an unknown frontier, similar to Alien Invaders. The final shot would be of the gang standing by the ocean and gazing out upon the calm waters at sunset, knowing they’ll be amongst the few to ever know the truth, before driving off towards home.
I actually have the entire plot synopsis written up for this idea, this is just a summary of the main points.

2024.05.18 22:17 ilikeexotichardwood [Help] Plater: add an indicator when Vampiric Touch is not applied

I am trying to track enemies who do not have Vampiric Touch applied. I want to be able to see a nameplate and say: oops, missed one. Just using the dot icons (indicating VT is present) is hard to track when you have multiple mobs in a single pile.
I found ghost auras but those are not very customizable. I also found a script to change the plater bar color when Vampiric Touch is applied, but pulling that into other profiles conflicts / overrides the functionality of nameplate coloring for priority mobs.
This leads to: is there a way to add a non-conflicting visual indicator for the nameplate that indicates the lack of a debuff? I was thinking, ideally, something like a persisted extra bar on top of the standard nameplate that acts similar to a timer.
If there are any resources or a similar script I might be able to modify, would love those as well.
Thank you!

2024.05.18 22:12 Techknightly Ghost Hollow bounty Mission npc's shooting each other in a corner of the woods.

So, I get the bounty mission Terminate some nameless cretin for 35K and head off to Ghost Hollow.
When I get there, The whole place is empty, even the areas inside where npcs are supposed to be. No one. So I get this 6/36 enemies terminated and I haven't killed any. There are alot of ships there, so I think, maybe it's someone else.
No. I'm now down to 4/36 enemies terminated somehow without firing a shot.
In the northeast corner of the woods, I see the icons for the last four. I run over there and HOLEEE SHIT! it's not 4, it's like 54 npc guys all shooting each other. The whole damn camp some how cleared out into this small area.
It's invictus and it's laggy as hell, but I start getting one shooting at me, then another then I'm getting shot at from all sides. I'm dead.
My Cutty Red is spec... Love it, but I wake up and now I have to kill them all. LIft off, guns on gimbal, and well... you get the idea. I widdled em down to the two enemies I was supposed to kill then set down, went back picked up the first armor and weapon I could find and went in and boom five more popped up shooting each other then me.
Guys, I think there is something wrong with the A.I.
Finally got the mission done and earned my 35k quid, but damn.
I would like to know something. are there any sights in game that offer night vision to help in night operations for weapons? Where do I find them? Night vision goggle would be better. I hate having to just point, guess and hope.

2024.05.18 19:34 stopmotionskeleton I love F13 but don’t actually like any of the movies

Anybody else feel this way? I love the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the films. I love the whole idea of Jason, the 80s summer camp setting is a perfect nostalgic setpiece for an incredibly fun series of horror films, and yet…. I don’t actually like any of the movies. Despite having some highlight moments and iconic imagery, I think they’re all pretty bad, but the world the characters exist in is so fun and strangely comforting to me, not to mention genre defining. By contrast I would argue that Halloween is a great film that’s artfully made and genuinely spooky, but I can’t say the same for any Friday film I’ve seen. I think it’s the thing that keeps me wanting new films from the franchise (something I’m normally pretty averse to) because it still doesn’t feel like they’ve struck oil narratively. I keep imagining a new Friday film that returns to the 80s summer camp roots, strips away all the convoluted stuff from over the years, and really anchors the film in some fleshed out, interesting characters and good dialogue. Give them some depth and nuance, give us a reason to care that they live, make it fun and energetic, make Jason the unstoppable ghost story come to life that he deserves to be, and then run wild.

2024.05.18 19:25 Real_Occasion_8512 Ghoulish Family Vacation: Zak Bagans’ Favorite Disneyland Trip

Zak Bagans' favorite childhood Disneyland vacation spent with his ghosts and ghoul family would have been an extraordinary blend of excitement and the supernatural. Accompanied by his family, Zak embarked on a journey to the iconic theme park, unaware that his paranormal experiences would follow him even to the happiest place on Earth.
From the moment they stepped foot in Disneyland, Zak sensed a familiar presence lingering in the air – the spirits he had encountered in his early ghost childhood seemed to have joined the family vacation. As they explored the park's attractions, Zak's intuition guided him to places where the paranormal activity was most pronounced.
One particularly memorable moment occurred during a visit to the Haunted Mansion ride. As they ventured through the eerie corridors and encountered ghostly apparitions, Zak felt a sense of kinship with the spirits, as if they were old friends joining in the fun.
Throughout their Disneyland adventure, Zak and his family experienced a unique blend of excitement and intrigue, with each ride and attraction offering new opportunities for paranormal encounters. Whether it was the ghostly laughter echoing through the Pirates of the Caribbean ride or the spectral figures dancing in the shadows of the It's a Small World attraction, Zak's Disneyland vacation was unlike any other.
As they bid farewell to the park at the end of their trip, Zak couldn't help but feel grateful for the unforgettable experiences they had shared. It was a vacation filled with magic, both of the Disney kind and the supernatural, and one that would forever hold a special place in Zak's heart as his favorite childhood memory spent with ghosts and ghouls at Disneyland.

2024.05.18 14:44 bouchayger7 I HAVE CRAFTED THE ULTIMATE YUJI THEROY

I was gonna flair this as next chapter prediction but I do not want to spoil anything because I believe we are about to witness something cold from yuji, so if you have not seen the leaks or read the scans be warned and if you did read the chapter or scnas go read it again since we missed a MASSIVE foreshadowing that REVEALS YUJI DOMAIN AND ITS ABILITY, FOR REAL THIS TIME
in the past week i have seen two post the first is this one
https://www.reddit.com/Jujutsufolk/comments/1cq6jct/this_is_just_sad_bro/
this post remind us of what yuji goal, his reason behind all of his fights and choices, the second post i could not find a ling to but it goes as follow
when todo said 3 layers of deception he was breaking the fourth wall, the first layer is the signature END OF CHAPTER title that ALWAYS APPEAR ON THE LAST IMAGE but not this time, the second layer is the GHOST who is gojo lets be real here it is gojo but not THE GOJO, why is that you ask well because of the third layer and the ultimate deception
IT WAS YUJI WHO CASTED THE DOMAIN EXPANSION
why i believe so?
first, we still do not know what he got from all of those 8 black flashes plus the one he hit this chapter
second todo appearance in this critical moment mirror his appearance in the fight against mahito which concluded with the iconic I AM YOU moment which was followed by the chase scene in a cold winter forest
takin these two points toghter and adding on them with the third layer of deception, the narrator is trying to trick us into thinking that sukuna is still capable of performing DE, he is right since the narrator in a story is mostly never wrong, BUT BEING ABLE TO DO IS NOT THE SAME AS DOING IT, yuji casted his domain before sukuna who was about to cast his but got taken back by the sight of this GHOST
NOW, the final nail in the coffin, the power of yuji domain is TO CALL BACK THE SOULS OF THOSE HE HAD LOST, going full circle into his motif that was established before, the fact that both time when he fought sukuna and mahito, todo was there to help him, the same todo who asked yuji why he fight
THE GHOST is not GOJO himself since he is dead so how can he goes back and walk all the way to the fight location while his body is out there in safehouse since ui ui teleported it, it is his spirit called back or an illusion of gojo made by yuji domain that he casted on sukuna after he pierced his chest
i know this theroy is somewhat far fetched and you can make counter arguments for it, i made like 3 or 4 counter arguments while just writing this, BUT I BELIVE and thats all i need now, thank you for reading

2024.05.18 08:29 smokdlavender Karma is a......Mother (1)

Karma is a......Mother (1)
We have the finale to our countdown, and it's TS12 baby!
Grab your hat, paint your face and settle in, because the Eras show (Taylor's Version) is just beginning. This post has been broken into parts as there was too much content for a single post.

She’s having a baaaaby…………. No, she is not.

As TTPD release has been unfolding on Era’s TV and we have been watching that album narrative unfold along with the performance of her past work, a comment was made in this sub about how that entire part of the show is performance art in itself.
They kill her on stage, strip her naked, dress her back up again and force her to go and perform as this ‘Dead Taylor’. A long agreed upon dynamic for Taylor as a brand is there is Taylor Swift TM the brand, and Taylor the person. Well, that is exactly what is being communicated in the performance, and album, the confirmation of there being “2 Taylors”.
Gaylors already know that this is not Taylor’s version, as referenced in the Red 22 shirts for Eras2.0 in Paris.
We were in.... Paris
We now know Taylor is using Midnights, TTPD, and Eras as the foundation she is laying for TS12. These projects are her yellow brick road if you will. These projects and their MVs have had unique connections to queer history, queer icons, as well as performance art, but for the sake of MOTHER I will only be referencing the easter egg connections to Mother from Bejewelled, Karma, Anti-Hero (Midnights MVs) and The Man (Lover).

Let’s take it back to National Frankenstein Day

Bejewelled MV came out on 25th October 2022 and at the time it was quite a perilous time for the sub because we didn’t have all the pieces to the puzzle (TTPD & Eras), but now we do.
The MV features Haim as the ugly step-sisters, Laura Dern as Mother, and Taylor as Cinderella.
Gay Icon Laura Dern as Mother
It opens with Taylor cleaning orange vomit off the floor saying,
“Oh, this is some of her best work. That’s disgusting”
as the sisters and Mother discuss a ball to be engaged and get the castle. Throughout this chit chat Mother is being primed as TS12.
Lore is the stolen album was Karma, and some fans think we have been receiving fragments of Karma since reputation because it was scrapped.
Laura Dern lore that many don't realise, is that she helped Ellen Degeneres come out in the 90s. It's one of the things that make her a gay icon.
Well, Karma is coming back around and this time she’s a mother.
Mother is TS12 but she is also Taylor, the person, instead of Taylor Swift TM.
The sisters state what they want out of this competition, all Taylor wants is the castle, and Mother says with a smirk,
“Well, I’ll be poisoning all the other maidens in the village”.
This is the first reference we have to the Eras tour, TTPD, and how the narratives of Taylor Swift TM are about to “die” again. Gaylors know that Taylor died in 1989 because she had to stay in the closet.
nb: important 1989 context - at the end of Out of the Woods, Taylor thinks she is going to finally meet her true self at the beach, and instead finds zombie Taylor. Zombie Taylor opens LWYMMD MV for reputation.
Swifties don’t realise they’re about to watch her murder Taylor Swift TM on the biggest selling world tour of all time. And so the release date for this MV now has a bit more significance, because Taylor has been performing like a Frankenstein this whole time, while patiently waiting for the right time to resurrect herself.
Taylor Swift TM is alive, but by force, it’s a dead body of work being pieced together to perform for the fans, not because Taylor wants to relive that time or era. She’s stuck, like a record on repeat. However in TTPD she likens herself to a record scratch as she screams, “Who’s afraid of little Old Me?” and this is the focal song of the TTPD set...
The sisters continue to talk, saying,
“But they’re changing it this year, instead of just showing up looking hot, you have to enter a talent competition, and if you win you get to keep the castle”
She's got her eyes on the prize & they keys to her castle (Mother)
nb: the talent competition is the lead up to present day, Midnights, TTPD, and Eras. As she says in ICDIWABH, she can pass this test
Mother says,
“I simply adore a proposal, the single most defining thing a lady could hope to achieve in her lifetime”
(side note: it’s painfully funny that the kicker from the Chiefs Harrison Butker made that speech this week while TNT are still technically together)
and then shows off her rings saying,
“Look how many Mommy has”
Mother flashing her jewels
Mother shows off 8 big sparkly rings, but there are 2 big jewels strung around her neck too. From L-R there is a ring that looks like the Red TV ring, on the opposite side there is a huge pinky orange jewel with a diamond halo.
I like to think this ring is Mother / Karma too assumed by it’s WLW colours and the black stone preceding it (black represents TTPD, although being considered a white album, parallels reputation bc it is paralleling that time in her life when she was forcibly closeted). However that is actually a red herring, because the real focus should be the pendant around Mother’s neck - it’s a portrait of a woman.
Who is the fair maiden you love in secret, Mother?
Isn’t that odd, keeping a woman close to your heart, while bragging about the jewels men gave you?
She then sips tea as the conversation goes on, saying,
“Speak Not, tired, tacky, wench. Clean!”
nb: SN and 1989 reference here, 1989 was meant to be the og queer soft launch and quitting bearding, but instead created all the bearding lore we have now that got us to this day.
Mother then becomes panicky, saying
“Even if she were allowed to go, which she is not!!!! The prince would never want anything to do with that little harlot again, he tired of her quite quickly, didn’t he? Or should I say, Swiftly”
nb: the prince here is the fans, specifically Swifties, who have been desperately attaching their prince charming narrative on to Taylor since Love Story. Taylor doesn’t care about keeping her man / fan because she just wants the castle (her own home, where she can be herself. She is willing to sacrifice the fans, and won’t sacrifice herself for them anymore. She doesn’t care anymore and this is reflected in TTPD for BDILH where she is having a baby or 'pregnant' with her 12th album if you will lol (karma/mother))
Mother then proceeds,
“Lest we forget, you’ve been exiled here. You’re not going anywhere, anytime soon. Now girls, lets get many many jewels!”.
They leave Taylor alone and so begins her quest to be bejewelled again.
The MV continues parallels to Anti-Hero showing albums as cats at the wake, with Prince Jack Antonoff having a portrait of 11 albums kittens, as Taylor prepares to win the castle.
The prince (fans) with his kittens (albums).. the light glitches when this is shown too
Mother (Taylor) with her cats (albums)... Taylor isn't having kids because she already is a mother!
The Bejewelled MV has a double meaning (ofc it does because ✌️ doubles, duh) is being used as a metaphor for what we are watching happen with the Eras tour, and how Taylor is going to put on a show so good, there’s no way she can’t reclaim ownership of her work, because remember the work Swifties know is not Taylor’s version.
Bejewelled MV is also giving Gaylor’s (and only gaylors) context to how she ended up here in the first place. Being a Gaylor is not without it’s difficulties and I think Taylor is intentionally egging for us, knowing that Swifties won’t notice these clues or bother to look deeper. Honestly I dont think she likes them, and Taylor doesn’t think they deserve to know her real truth because they aren’t really trying to (Anti-Hero funeral scene when the “Swiftie” children say SHE DIDN’T LEAVE ANY CLUE”) and never did, so Gaylor’s are simultaneously getting clues to i) when bearding began throughout her career and ii) why she had to do it (coming out) this way.
You pushed her too far Chad!!! Taylor is foreshadowing that Swifties are going to blame Gaylors.
Back to Bejewelled! She begins her hero-arc (or anti-hero) leaving the old castle, beginning her adventure by entering an elevator and she's going straight to the top. The final destination - the penthouse.
Note the elevator keys - 11 / TTPD is Red and black, because it the theme of this album is representing the death of the author. 12 / Mother-Karma is black and white because it parallels 6 / reputation as a queer album. 10 / Midnights is yellow, for closeting. “Meet me at Midnight” as we know, has been priming fans up to meet Taylor during TS12.
Down bad, waking up in blood. Did Taylor want out during Red era, too?
However the penthouse at the top doesn’t look like a penthouse, it’s a weird almost mummified looking white box on top of the building, with red lights on each corner.......
..........It’s almost as if the penthouse is actually The Tortured Poet’s Department. That’s where the tortured poet is being kept, and she is going up to the penthouse to save herself.
I see you, Tortured Poet's Department.
Taylor arrives at Level 3 (Speak Now) to get her sparkle back! She walks a catwalk, adorning herself in her jewels again..
This costume may be referencing a muse who walks in a straight line for a job
..... then meets Dita Von Teese at level 5 (1989) to learn how to attract men by way of burlesque performance. Again, another ✌️ layered parallel, Taylor is performing heterosexual romance to attract the prince (fans).
Are we seeing doubles??
Taylor then gets to Level 13 and is performing on stage with all the clocks, dazzling as the ugly sisters are screaming and crying at her, while all the staff in the background applaud Taylor.
Boo, you bore!
She is also performing the folie bergere dance formation used in the TTPD segment on Eras TV.
We're seeing double again ✌️
The MV ends with Taylor ghosting the man, and walking out onto the castle balcony (with that look) and looking like Love Story / Debut Taylor in a yellow dress, with VFX embers glowing that seem like fireflies.
Please take note of her pearl necklace, it is the TTPD Eras Tour Costume necklace (V1)
Girl what are you up to... also hello Vivienne Westwood / TTPD Costume Choker
The same VFX embers were featured in Out of the Woods for 1989, and in willow for folklore. It's hard to screenshot but they are there, along with the sound of burning.
Tiny snippet but there are the embers
This ending is an easter egg in itself for Debut. I am unsure if yellow here is being used as a red herring or if it means Debut will remain closeted, or if it's to hint what has been suspected in the sub, that she will release her original lyrics, or better yet revealing that she has been interchanging herself within the pronouns the whole time.

Part 2

2024.05.18 07:29 LastMemory234 Ruby Rose's Design doesn't track with her character (RWBY)

RWBY has alot of faults , such as the botched racism sub-plot, some of the faulty lore and half of volume 5 (season 5) however something that I believe RWBY excels at is colors, designs and iconicity of their characters as if the character's designs can tell you more or less about the character. I believe however Ruby Rose herself fails 2/3 of those standards but for me to explain that I must go over other characters to explain my point.
* Her Volume (4- 6) Design *Her Best IMO* Is an amazing grayish blue that symbolizes (at least imo her complete breaking away from her social up-bringing and becoming a better person) she has let down her walls and while still having an royal or noble aesthetic.
*Her Volume (7 - 9) Design is the representation of her arc of being her own person and choosing what SHE wants to look like, rocking a new hair style and wearing more blue then ever
* His Volume ( 4 -6) Design is an amazing upgrade through visual story-telling as it represents a new chapter of his life, haunted by grief and self-hatred. Jaune figuratively carries the ghost of his teammate on his shoulders that he endless blames himself for. He uses his teammates's armor and red ribbon to not only to upgrade his armor but to never forget her sacrifice which causes him to repress his trauma.
* His Volume (7 - 8) Design doesn't change much but he does get that stupid haircut which is similar to his racist bully so....
* Rusted Knight, Jaune looks older, visually tired and mentally weakened from the events of volume 8 with a design of his volume 4 - 8 armor clearly rusted with him looking mature but traumatized from the life choices of others and himself.
FINALLY WE GET TO RUBY ROSE and using two different characters (Weiss for Colors) and Jaune for (Design), Ruby fails on both accounts as her design almost feels like the opposite of her actual character. Ruby is a socially awkward, tad naive, good-natured and semi-impulsive person who is very light-hearted person who tries to do the right thing even if it hurts her. Her Beacon Design however almost seems to clash with her character as she looks extremely gothic, dark and with her hood almost shy which is the closest thing to her actual character. Ruby wears more black then Blake, lmao.
* Her Volume (4 - 6) Design (My Personal Favorite of Hers) still doesn't really reflect her character, her grief or her guilt about Nikos's Death and doesn't really reflect any of her character's concern about the events and dangers of traveling while being hunted by Salem's Men/Women.
*Her Volume (7-9) Design also while looking aesthetically pleasing doesn't convey or well say anything outside of the messier hair implying that she hasn't gotten a chance because of constant fighting and betrayals gotten a chance to focus on her hair which is an admittedly nice touch.
I theorize that she was originally supposed to be less upbeat especially with her main theme Red like Roses II which is a song conveying her feelings of losing her mother Summer Rose and considering that the Red Trailer and that song pre-dates RWBY, I wonder if she was changed between the type gap.
Anyways that's just my rambles lol.

2024.05.18 07:02 DoctorFuji Nuzlockes have changed me opinion of Route 1 Rodent Pokemon

I would like to say I am SHOCKED by what they can do for starting normal types. I am currently doing a Generation Nuzlocke where I will go from each Gen starting with Gen I. After completing the run, any pokemon that are entered into the hall of fame are not allowed to be caught in the following gens and are not considered encounters for future games.
I recently finished a Fire Red Run that was successful, where my pride and joy was Burnet the Raticate. Because of the way special/physical work in Gen III, all ghost moves are physical. Raticate can learn shadowball. Raticate was my counter for Sabrina's and Blue's Alakazam. It was so cool seeing this little rat 1shot one of the heaviest hitters in that game!
And now, I have just finished my Soul Silver nuzlocke [Only completed Johto] with Proteus the Furret! I was leveling up my team for Johto's E4 with the intention to let Furret just watch the whole time since she came so far. However, upon reaching lvl 50 to match Lance's ace, she learned Me First, and I got theory crafting. What if I use that on Lance's Ace Dragonite? Did some damage calcs, and discovered that with a Dragon Fang + Me First, if the Dragonite uses Outrage, then Furret with hit with their own Outrage first with a basepower of 225 [with Dragon Fang]. The only problem, if Lance doesn't use Outrage, then Furret is most likely gonna go down for the count or survive with very little health left which would put me in a bad situation.
I decided lets go for it.
Got to Lance and Dewgong took out Girafarig TBolt'd Gyarados, Steelix [with Wide Scope] Iron Tail'd Aerodactly, and Dewgong Surf/Ice-Beamed Charizard, and Dragonites 1 and 2. Leaving only the last Dragonite, and I sent out Furret.
Turn 1: I used Me First. It failed. I was caught off guard. Lance had Dragonite used Safeguard. Turn 2: Proteus the Ferret uses Me First. Its Outrage. Dragonite drops to 2% (its so close to dead) and pops its Sitrus Berry. Now its Dragonite's Outrage...AND FURRET SURVIVES WITH 1/4HP REMAINING! Granted I had a busted nature for Furret, which was Impish so +Def, -SpA! Now its turn 3, I dont even get to choose a move because Furret is locked into Outrage now. And down goes Lance's Dragonite. And what an iconic way to end the run.
So now I love Raticate and Furret. I hope I can keep Linoone alive until the E4 and see if it can do anything crazy is RSE!
TL;DR: Raticate was my Alakazam counter in Fire Red and Furret defeated Lance's ACE with a Me First Outrage
Fire Red Team: Coriander the Golem, Burnet the Raticate, Cumin the Venusaur, Zynx/Vanilla the Jynx, Costmary the Electrode, and Bergamont the Omastar
Soul Silver Team: Proteus the Furret, Opal the Victreebel, Citrine the Onix, Chalecedony the Heracross, Coral the Girafarig, and Aquamarine the Dewgong

2024.05.18 05:07 wholesomebutter 25 [F4R] #Online looking for long term friends and more, maybe? ♡

THIS GONNA BE A SUPER LONG READ (sorry in advance)
Hey all, I'm hoping to find some genuine connections (please be 23+) and not just a quick chat then ghost, the loop of "coming and going" is getting way too old for me. I prefer to not have my time wasted or waste yours (: I literally will cut someone off once I'm given bad vibes or a very good reason to.
A little bio about me:
From the midwest illinois, I own two doggos and a betta with snails. My height is 4'11. I have a baby face which really messes with my confidence at times especially that I'm not always treated or viewed as an adult bc of my appearance. (I can share a pic of me in the dms) I have black brown curly hair, big brown eyes and can pass as a fit curvy girl. I get told my eyes are pretty which ngl they are due to having thick/long eyelashes, other than that I look like I need a cigarette due to the lack of sleep seasoned with depression.
My personality goes to either being very chill, extremely annoying or too quiet. It depends on my mood for the day and if we get along very well then I won't stop yapping. I love being 100% open minded-zero filter and goofy, I might have shit humor but i'll laugh at random things or for no reason 😂 your "not funny" jokes will be funny to me.
I want someone who doesn't always have to be serious, can talk about anything whether it's deep or not-just to care for each other yk? I don't have any specific requirements for friendships/dating besides to be honest, caring, some humor, and not an asshole lol. I crave romance in my life at times but I won't force things to happen, I want it to go down naturally and we have to be living close by for future meetups!
My mental health is something I feel is very important to include just so you are aware or anyone really is and with that there's always things that can create obstacles. I have depression/anxiety, struggling for what feels like forever and because of that there's a lot of complications in my life especially when it comes to being social and putting myself out there.
I literally take my time to warm up to new people, I get nervous and overwhelmed with a ton including when it comes to first time calls but after a while of obvious stalling I get some sort of courage along with mini heart attacks to go for it. So be patient with me and I do need my breaks of silence to recharge, I don't like dryness in texting or talking and will most likely drop further contact if it feels like i'm carrying the conversation more than I need to. I hate one sided things, I don't want to put effort into someone who doesn't have the same energy as me.
Either way, if any of this would bother you in some way, please skip this post. I have full respect for others knowing we all need a break from speaking or being active in general as long as there's communication like simply giving a heads up or an update. So if we can agree with the "pick up where we left off" thing then perfect 🤝🏼
I don't have a perfect life, not an exact plan for what I want to do yet, goals are not quite met etc etc. so if you're looking for someone who basically has their shit together, well if you read this far you know I'm not it. I love to struggle, it's for the plot!
As for hobbies, I love gaming. I play lots of cod mw2/mw3, minecraft, RE, persona, dreamlight valley, elden ring, paladins, mario kart, loz, genshin impact etc. I have a ps4/5 and switch, I would love to try and play with others more often vs soloing all the time.
I'm a creative person so I love to draw silly doodles, paint, make random clay art or write stories. Would love to turn it all into a small business someday!
I enjoy horrothrillers or just anything weird. Books, anime, movies etc. my fav mangas and animes are ao haru ride, maid sama, berserk, devils line, higurashi, madoka magica, sailor moon and paranoia agent. Stephen King is my go to and I can read misery over and over again, the movie is also iconic.
I'm also a huge plushie collector, or of anything cute!

Animal Well hints-before-solutions non-spoilery Puzzle Guide
This is a non-spoilery guide to Animal Well that will give you hints first, and only full solutions if you reveal them. Click the leftmost spoilers first! This is intended for players who know they have a puzzle in front of them, but don't know how to solve it, or if they're supposed to solve it yet. It doesn't contain every puzzle in the game, and in particular it does not cover much of the early game stuff, or the super late game stuff that isn't even obvious there's a puzzle there, but hopefully it will grow to include the ones most people feel a need to ask about.
If you just want a walkthrough and don't mind spoilers, try A traveler's guide to Animal Well. I also recommend that guide if you're having trouble in the early game, or if you're trying to find the last egg or two, but don't scroll down farther than you need to if you want to avoid spoilers.
Before consulting this guide, especially if you have already seen the credits, you may want to check your map for any gaps in the walls, floors, or ceilings. Even a single pixel gap may mean you have missed an entrance. Disabling the scanline effect in the options menu can help find the gaps.
Each puzzle is categorized into:
The categories are provided to help you decide whether you want to read the hints yet or save the puzzle for later. In general, it is not worth worrying about the puzzles in the more advanced categories before solving the ones in the previous categories.

What's up with the bunny on the grass balcony near the starting area? (Late Game)

You can only reach this bunny from the room on the left. Reaching it is easier with a post-credits item. Use the disc and/or bubble wand to pass by the two large storks (3 rooms to the left of the bunny) and then use the bubble wand (the end game version of the bubble wand is easier) to go through the secret passage in the upper right of the room with the treasure chest. Use the bubble wand to pass through the spike room. The bunny can be "collected", but there is nothing to do with it now.

How do I get the disc from the angry ghost dog statue? (Also kind of looks like a ghost cat) (Required)

You can't defeat the ghost dog. You need a special item. This requires finding an item elsewhere that you can swap with the disc. The "mock disc" can be found by navigating the underground maze in the room one right and one up from the statue. To get there, you must first go far left from the statue.

How do I press all of the buttons in the room with the caged cats? (Required)

Experiment with the Yo-Yo in the room to the right of the caged cats. The Yo-Yo can be used to press the buttons in that room without going all the way down to them, and it can also be used on the animal in the wheel to make the moving walls switch directions. This wheel controls the left-or-right moving vertical walls, unlike the previous wheel you've encountered which controls the up-or-down moving platforms (elevator). In the room to the left of the caged cats, you need the vertically moving platforms to be going up. With the moving walls moving to the right, enter the room to the left of the caged cats. This should lead you to a fish pipe that takes you back up to the top of the purple palace area. From here, after exploding out the wall on the left, another fish pipe enables you to return to the caged cats area regardless of which way the vertically moving platforms are going. Use the Yo-Yo on the animal running in the wheel (just to the right of where the first fish pipe spit you out) to make the vertical platforms move down, then take the fish pipe on the left. You will have to jump to the left along the moving walls to return to the cat cage room. Use the room to the right of the cat cage room to make the moving walls move to the left again. Now reaching the button should be easy.

What's up with the large fish splashing in the lower left room (fast travel area)? (Optional, but worth solving early)

The fish is a puzzle that is related to the item you used to reach this area. Listen to the noises the fish makes. Look at the directions the fish is facing as it splashes. The fish is trying to teach you a song. Note: when playing songs, press the item button to bring out the flute, but then release it. Hold a direction with the D-Pad first, and then tap the item button to play a single note, and release it before changing the direction for the next note. The song is... ➡➡⬅⬅⬇⬇⬆⬆ and will teleport you to the fast travel room.

What is the "M. Disc Shrine" for? (Required)

You have already seen an item in the game with a name similar to "M. Disc". The item is the "Mock Disc", and you likely left it in the angry ghost dog statue (5 rooms down, 2 left). You must retrieve the Mock Disc and bring it to the M. Disc shrine. After picking up the Mock Disc, you can use fast travel (if you've learned it) to quickly get to the dog head fast travel point, or you can simply go to the right 2 rooms, up 3 (you opened the path here with the dynamite, right?), left 5, and up 1. Either way, you must then go from the dog head fast travel room 2 rooms to the right, and then either up and right or right and up (I find up then right to be easier by taking the top path), Right again, fall down the middle hole to flip the switch, up the ladder and to the right into the shrine. After placing the mock disc, the nearby door should open.

How do I get into the room just right of the M. Disc Shrine? (Optional)

You need the platforms (elevator) with the dog picture on them to be moving up instead of down. This requires a late game item. Look for an alcove along the shaft that the platforms pass by that has no other purpose. You must use an item in that room, 4 rooms down from the top of the map. Use the Remote in that room; it should explode out the wall on the left. The Yo-Yo can be used to make the dog running in the wheel change directions, which will make the platforms go up. Ride the platforms to the top.

What do I do about the vampire bat? (Optional)

The bat isn't the key to any kind of puzzle, but he can be scared away. Throw 3 firecrackers (one at at time) to scare away the bat. There are 3 firecrackers in the room to the left, which is helpful.

How do I free the caged cats? (Late Game)

The solution is hidden around this quadrant of the map. Take note of the ceiling boxes the cages hang from. These boxes respond to your flute. Each of the 5 cats requires a song to free, which can be found by searching this general area of the map. Look carefully for arrows on the background in secret spots around the purple palace. Using a light can help see them. For reference, the purple palace area has a phone just within its entrance, where you first encounter the moving platforms (elevator). The songs can be found at: (1) the location the Ostrich was found running in his wheel, (2) The small secret alcove accessible to the left of the room two rooms above the phone (it has a window into an unrelated room with bright ghosts moving up and down in a VVV shape), (3) A small hidden room in the upper left of the room below the phone (requires using an item that can dig one room to the left), (4) In the upper left of the room just above the phone (which contains the animal in the wheel). This can be reached from the room on the left, if you have the ability to reach the top of the room. It is possible to reach it with the normal bubble wand, but easier to do it with the end-game bubble wand., (5) In the lower-right most room that contained the flame. Notice how one of the platforms looks different from the others. Use the Slink on the right of the room to activate a button in the water. This lets you reach a hidden alcove at the top of the room. (General tips) Here is a map showing the locations (from the "travelers guide to animal well"): https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2521530104091245968/4A81213ED4CCCE1BAFFB36B970BA2AD76C1D9457/ Near each song there are symbols in the wall that correspond to symbols above the cat cages, indicating where each song is used.

How do I get the treasure chest in the cage in the room with the large pacing ghost cat? (Late Game)

The solution to this puzzle is not in this room, but it is in the general lower right area of the map. The solution involves music, but you don't play the music in this room. Where else have you seen cages like the one the treasure chest is in? You must first free the 5 cats from their hanging cages. Then return to the treasure chest and the large cat will open it for you. See "How do I free the caged cats?" (above).

Where do I play the song I found in the background of the purple palace Ostrich area? (Optional)

Try using your flute in different rooms around the purple palace and see if you can find anything that responds to it. See "How do I free the caged cats? (above)

How do I get the treasure chest in the small room filled with spikes near the lower right of the map? (Optional)

This is only possible once you have gotten the treasure chest in the nearby room with the large pacing ghost cat (see above). That chest should give you the Wheel item. You can use it to roll over spikes.

What do I do with the mostly flat slightly concave U-shaped objects on the ground? (Late Game)

You need a special item to interact with these objects. See "How do I get the treasure chest in the cage in the room with the large pacing ghost cat?" (above)

After defeating the Ostrich boss in the lower right of the map, the blocks don't move anymore. Can I still get the treasure chest in the room to the left? (Late Game)

Yes, and if you don't know how, don't worry about it for now. See "What do I do with the mostly flat slightly concave U-shaped objects on the ground?" (above).

What do I do with the "recessed circle" pedestals? (Optional)

Each of these requires a separate circular item. None of them are related in any way to the disc or mock disc. (1) The one with the snake statue in the starting area requires the S medal, which can be found in the upper right quadrant of the map behind one of the spots where the large chameleon was first found. (2) The one two rooms to the right of the Sea Horse flame requires The E medal, which first requires lighting every candle in the map (there are 9), and then returning to the room to the left of the game's starting room and entering the fish pipe that should appear. Here are the candle and match locations (from the "travelers guide to animal well"): https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2521530104090950184/C23385F72C001C2B66C7D4C8D53E0EB2DEC06814/ (3) The one with the kangaroo statue in the upper left of the map requires the K medal, which the kangaroo holds. The kangaroo appears randomly in 5 rooms throughout the map. You must use firecrackers on it 3 times. Here are the kangaroo locations (from the "travelers guide to animal well"): https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2521530104091166441/AB982FD6D9A81A76CE7BBED17850085A870E31B0/ . As far as I know, the kangaroo only appears randomly, so you must travel to these locations over and over.

What's up with the grid of lights in the room just to the left of the game's starting room? (Optional)

The lights in this 3x3 grid light up as you accomplish a certain task throughout the world. Each light corresponds to a lit candle. Light all 9 candles in the world to open a secret passage. Here are the candle and match locations (from the "travelers guide to animal well"): https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2521530104090950184/C23385F72C001C2B66C7D4C8D53E0EB2DEC06814/

What's up with the small scattered statues that have symbols and dice numbers on them? (Optional)

Each of these contains a map icon and a number. Mark them on your map (including the numbers) and the solution may become clear. After marking them on your map, you must connect the dots. Each symbol is a separate connect-the-dots puzzle, connected in order of the numbers. Once connected, each symbol should make the shape of a number. The numbers correspond to flute notes. Play the song to teleport to a secret.

How do I reach the room to the left of the dark room that is only accessible via fish pipe? (Obscure)

The community does not (yet?) know how to access that room, except by cheating. Sorry, this sentence isn't helpful either.

How do I get the treasure chest in the room with the two dog statues and the grass? (Obscure)

This room requires using information outside the game. The grass is the key. Does the grass remind you of anything you might find in the real world, not at all related to the game? The grass is a bar code. Scanning it reveals... the numbers 18756753. Play the corresponding notes on the flute.

How do I get into the secret in the top right of the room with the 3 dogs in the pit? (Late Game)

You need to switch the solid/empty block state and get between the two columns of switchable blocks while the ones on the left are solid and the ones on the right are not. The block state cannot be switched from within this room. You need a sort of teleportation mechanic to pull this off, so that you can switch the block state in a different room and then return to this location. You have probably already used the teleportation mechanic! You might even have been annoyed or frustrated by it. Falling into water teleports you to the last location you touched the ground. You can use the bubble wand and/or disc to move around without touching the ground. Yes, this is a rather difficult platforming challenge. You must stand between the columns, find a way to a room that can allow you to switch the block states, and then fall into water somewhere, all without touching the ground. There are at least two approaches to this that can work. One of them takes advantage of the fact that standing on a switchable block does not count as standing on the ground. Tip: shooting the bubble wand downward during a jump, landing on the bubble and jumping again, with good timing, can enable you to slowly move upward when there is a lack of horizontal space to work with. The easiest way to do this that I found is to use the (end-game version of the) bubble wand to go to the left 2 rooms, then up 2 rooms, in which the Remote can be used to switch the block state, then return down 1 room and to the right 1 room and fall into the water. However, another approach involves going to the right with the disc and standing on some of the switchable blocks. (I used the Lantern while falling into the water to avoid taking damage from the ghost faces, but I'm not sure that's required.) The Top can be used to distract the dogs, giving you more room to work with.

What can I do with the bunny mural? (Obscure)

Try using the Remote in the picture room. Also try using the Top in the revealed area. This should reveal a hint in the room below. However, it is not enough information to solve the puzzle. You need the help of other players to solve this puzzle. Every player gets a different hint. You can use https://philippgitpush.github.io/bunnymuralhelpe to pretend you worked with other players and solve the puzzle yourself. The solution is visible at https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2521530104091456782/FF73FD9F5F41B3F772F44029A8E5221D943803AC/ (from "the travelers guide to Animal Well")

What do I do with the groundhog that retreats into his hole when I approach? (Obscure)

You can only interact with this animal at certain times. Specifically, only at a certain day of the year, depending on your system clock. The day is... groundhog day. See https://techraptor.net/gaming/guides/animal-well-groundhog-double-health-guide for more information.

How do I get the treasure chest behind the pile of skulls? (Obscure)

The skulls cannot be removed. However, the treasure chest doesn't contain any important item or even an egg or one of the end-game collectables. What do skulls represent in real life? Each skull represents one of your deaths. Start a new game and reach this room without dying to open the chest. The chest contains a figurine that will display in the house area.

How do I get into (and through) the room in the upper left of the map? (Optional)

Look for nearby holes in the walls and ceilings on your map. There is an exit at the top of the room with the two swordfish statues (right one from the room with the staircase into the water). You can reach that hole with the bubble wand, but I recommend learning how to reach it with the disc instead. It is possible to throw and land on a disc in a single jump without bouncing the disc off a wall. By raising the block in the staircase room (by using the Slink on the staircase), you can get the height you need to jump and land on a disc, bringing you to the swordfish statue room high enough to enter the hole at the top. The upper left room requires using this same trick. Jump and land on a disc to go through the first row of spikes. For the second row, you must do this twice without landing. Wait for the wall bounce before attempting the second jump.

What do I do with the eggs once I've found them all? (Late Game)

You should have 64 eggs. Use the UV Lamp on the eggs and on the room you found the flute in (2 rooms to the left). Each line on an egg represents a 1 (top), 2 (middle), or 4 (bottom). Add the numbers together for each egg. The numbers correspond to flute notes. This reveals a song. The eggs with no lines correspond to an 8 (↗). The song may not work at first. Consider the types of eggs that were collected. Some are special in ways that are relevant to this puzzle. There is one egg in particular, in the first half of the song, that is visually different from the others in a meaningful way. There is an upside-down egg. (Third from the left, second row.) Reverse the first and last lines on the upside-down egg. The final song is: ↖⬇➡⬇↖⬇➡⬇↖↙ ↘↙↖↙↘↙↗ ⬅⬇⬅↗⬅ ⬇⬅⬆⬅↘⬅⬆ ⬅↘⬅↖⬇➡⬇ ↖⬇➡⬇↖↙↘ ↙↖↙↘↙↖↗ ↖↙↗⬆⬅⬇⬆ ↖↙⬅⬆↖⬅↖. Playing it in the egg room should open a secret. There is also a 65th egg that you may have found, which is not relevant here.

How do I open the door in the top of the house? (Late Game)

First, solve all of the "Optional" puzzles. This door requires finding every egg. See "What do I do with the eggs" (above).

What is the incubator for? (Late Game)

First, solve all of the "Optional" puzzles. Find all of the eggs. Then, you can retrieve a 65th egg from the egg room. Bring it here.

What are the face icons in the skull room for? (Optional)

The direction of each face from the center of the circle corresponds to a flute note. The upper-right most room in the map contains a list of faces, as well as an image which is a hint as to where to use the song. The image is a classical illusion that appears to either be a duck or a bunny, depending on how you look at it. Play the song by the duck near the center of the map (just right of the flame beacons) to turn it into a secret bunny. The faces also appear in a special end-game room... when you use the Remote on the TV. Playing the song corresponding to these faces also reveals a secret bunny. The faces also appear on an enemy in one place...

What is the large spinning torus / donut for? (Late Game)

You can't do anything in this room until you have solved almost all of the puzzles in the game. Save it for last. However, you might want to try the UV light in this room for an unrelated secret. After completing the incubator room puzzle, you will reach an alternate area with another torus that teleports you to this one and back.

What is the large clock for? (Late Game)

You can't really do anything with the clock unless the doors are already open. Try using the UV lamp on the clock. If you beat the game within a certain number of minutes on a new save file, the doors will open. They contain... figurines that will display in the house.

What does the stop watch do? (Late Game)

The stop watch merely enables the clock on the pause menu.

What's up with the egg-shaped game machine? (Late Game)

You can jump into this machine from the top. It shows you how much distance you have traveled. If your distance traveled is low enough, there are fewer walls in the way, enabling access to the treasure chests. The treasure chests do not contain items that you need. The treasures are figurines that display in the house. At 100,000 steps, the number resets to 0, enabling you to get the treasures.

What's up with the kangaroo? (Optional)

The kangaroo appears randomly in 5 rooms throughout the map. It can be scared away, which will give you a reward. Use firecrackers on it. Here are the kangaroo locations (from the "travelers guide to animal well"): https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2521530104091166441/AB982FD6D9A81A76CE7BBED17850085A870E31B0/ . Using firecrackers on it 3 times will give you the "K medal", which can be used... in the room to the left of the vampire bat room.

How do I defeat the fish boss with the skeleton body? (Optional)

Study the fish's attacks carefully. The fish does the same attacks in a certain order. The attack directions correspond to flute notes. The song is ↖⬇↙⬅↙↗↖. Play the song and then... Enter its mouth.

2024.05.18 00:17 Pokken_Champ815 My Sonic Heroes Review

So for a while or so I've been playing older Sonic games just to see if they still held up. So far a majority of the games I played were at the very least good with some of the best ones being Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic rush. But something that might be my biggest Sonic hot take ever is that Heroes is one of the worst games in the entire Sonic series(unpopular opinion I know but let me explain myself). And just a heads up this is gonna be a long one because I got a lot to say about this game.
Because this game has a lot of aspects that I don’t like, I'm going to first touch on some aspects I actually like about the game. Even though not every character was written the best I will say some stand out characters I enjoyed are Cream and Omega, especially Omega but I wanna touch on Cream first. Ever since reading the IDW comics I've always had a soft spot for Cream just from how innocent and adorable she was and that sentiment continued with how she was paired with Blaze in Sonic Rush. I was admittedly nervous about how she would be portrayed in Heroes for reasons I'll get into later but she was handled alright. Nothing too groundbreaking but she kept her cute nature and even had some small moments of sass which was nice. The real star of the show was E-123 Omega. He really only has one thing on his mind with destroying Eggman and doesn’t really go through any sort of character arc, but that’s fine with me because the dude’s funny as hell with how aggressive and angry he is. He doesn’t have much of a face or eyes that are able to emote but you can still tell exactly what he’s thinking. I can’t explain why but every piece of dialogue that comes out of his…mouth?....speakers?...is hysterical. From “ANNIHILATE” to “USELESS CONSUMER MODELS” even down to when he says “GOOD” every time you pop an item box or balloon every quote is comedy gold with how monotone his voice is. The chemistry each team has with each other is nice to watch since from their dialogue you can tell that these trios have known each other for a while, are good friends with one another, or in Team Dark’s case just work friends(but their banter is still entertaining with how Omega keeps telling them to stay focused). And the music is good but as a Sonic fan that’s par for the course at this point. What I’m Made Of is a stand out banger for me.
But unfortunately that’s where all the positives end as we move into the negatives with one of the biggest being the physics of the game being poorly optimized. Throughout my playthrough I have run into so many bugs or victims of poor game design that I’ve lost count. But over half of my deaths have been due to the fact that there are no invisible walls to act as safety nets for players incase they misclick or even do something as simple as do a homing attack or perform a 3 hit combo with a power character, the latter happening way too often because power characters are the most reliable way to deal with enemies. Enemies bumping you are also a common way to die but not because of running out or rings, but because of the lack of walls keeping you on the platforms. Speaking of the homing attack, with how the movement physics work with speed characters I never use them because they end up being too slippery to control with instances where it feels like I'm fighting for control just so I can move forward in a straight line or hit a boost pad on a loop. The Light Speed Dash works whenever it feels like it and there’s no way to aim the homing attack so you pretty much have to press A twice and pray that rn-Jesus does you nice, otherwise you’re falling down a pit like you’re Scrooge McDuck diving into a vault of gold coins. And remember how I said enemies bumping you off cliffs was a common way to die? Well they can also just combo you for free because this game has no invincibility frames meaning you can get hit once and then instantly die if you or one of your teammates doesn’t pick up a ring right after being hit. This is especially apparent in horde fights like Robot Storm where you can get easily swarmed. And a staple mechanic from Sonic Adventure 2 that was butchered in this followup was the rail grinding. It was super fun to build up speed by balancing and crouching but now you just mash B with any real sense of speed being from a speed character. And heaven forbid you decided to grind rail with a flight character unless you like sliding at the speed of a snail, but you might wanna do that anyway to be save because if you switch rails the game doesn’t magnetize your character to it risking you to just shoot yourself off the map just for swapping rails or getting off of a rail.
Another awful aspect with the game is the team mechanic itself. It’s an interesting idea on paper to be able to swap between 3 characters to perform different actions based on what the level throws at you. But the problem with that is not every formation is balanced. The flying formation is awful in every way. The totem formation itself looks weird and looks especially janky with how it looks when going off a set of springs or going through a dash panel loop. How it controls itself makes absolutely no sense either; you jump and jump again to fly which drains a meter, which makes sense since Tails worked in a similar way back in Sonic 2 and still works like that in every other 2D classic style game. But I didn’t learn until the last story that the gauge only drains if you move forwards and won’t drain if you don’t move forward which not only makes no sense but doesn’t work like that in Sonic 2 at all. And whenever the meter runs out you might think that you would just glide down to the floor right? No. Instead the game halts all of your momentum and has you fall straight down like a boulder making flying based platforming impossible which was not the case in Sonic 2. And for some reason there’s a limit for how high you can go even though there’s already a limit you can fly for. Wanna know what game allows you to fly as long as you want until you run out of stamina? SONIC FUCKING 2 ON THE SEGA GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE. Sonic Heroes not only came out 10 years after Sonic 2 but was released on more powerful consoles so I'm baffled that they didn’t even try to make any of this shit work in any similar fashion. And this gets even worse for Sonic Heroes because you know how I just described how they would have improved the flying mechanics in Sonic Heroes? Well it WORKS EXACTLY HOW I JUST EXPLAINED IN SONIC ADVENTURE FOR THE THE DREAMCAST 1999. What the hell were they thinking with this!? This makes absolutely no fucking sense. And the Thunder Shoot attack? It doesn’t do much except paralyze enemies and hit targets meant to help you move forward in levels. Except it only does one of these things correctly since the game doesn’t auto target the targets meaning 90% of the time you’ll be constantly throwing your teammates into the ether while missing entirely as you try again and again to change your angle to hit the target just so you can move on with the average 10 minute level. And the switches you’re meant to pull are janky in their own right but the switches you have to fly for are the worst since no matter how close you get to that switch the game won’t register what you’re trying to do which is annoying as balls. And as the finishing touch all flying character have no differences in gameplay despite slight animations and apparently they have this unique attack they can do if they don’t have party members to throw with Thunder Shoot by pressing B again...but the game doesn’t tell you that and even knew that you’ll never see it in practice because if you toss a teammate with Thunder Shoot they’ll come back almost instantly.
And the biggest failure is that you can no longer spin dash in this game. It’s no big deal, it’s not like they removed one of Sonic’s most essential moves in his arsenal that was present all the way from Sonic 2 and was even in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, useless crap like that. Instead you have to use the stupid Rocket Accel which can’t be activated instantly like the spin dash with instead having the player get a running start to have your teammate boost you forward that doesn’t go as far as the spin dash in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. It’s an alright concept that would be fine to keep if the spin dash remained in the game and not replaced with some trash faker that doesn’t hold up to the original. Which leaves us with the power formation which is the best formation by far but not by much. Power is the easiest one to control since it allows you to properly control your character at a moderate speed, a novel concept I know. But combo attacks that involve the character moving forward in a short burst are risky to use since you could wind up pushing yourself off the map which happens way more often than you’d think and more often than it should. And because they have to share data with all the playable teams they away Knuckles’ ability to climb walls in favor of a tacky looking team glide for platforming just like they took away the Spin Dash.
Another team related mechanic the game introduces is something called the “Team Blast” which has a gauge fill up every time you deal damage to enemies or collect rings no matter how you collect said rings(remember this for later). When a team gauge is filled you can perform a Team Blast by pressing Z that acts as a screen wipe that clears almost every enemy on screen. I say almost because it doesn’t really remove every enemy on screen because some doof over at Sonic Team thought it would be a good idea to give an ultimate attack that’s meant to wipe out all enemies on screen with a limited range, which is smaller than you’d think by the way. Each Team Blast has their own special effect that appears for around 10 seconds after the attack is used which i’ll be talking about when I talk about each team on their own but know that after Team Sonic’s Team Blast Sonic will be able to use the Light Speed Attack from Adventure 1 and 2…but that’s useless when you’re able to still fight as Knuckles and it fucks up your Thunder Shoot when attacking bosses.
And the next fancy mechanic they try adding in is the new level system. And I hate this system so much. The idea of the level system is that your character starts off dealing an ok amount of damage but can get stronger the more you level up by collecting orbs that can drop from enemies. Speed characters get a stronger spin dash, flight characters get a stronger Thunder Shoot, and power characters get stronger combo enders. The problem is that in terms of combat no Sonic game has ever worked like this. For the most part every enemy in a Sonic game that came out before and after Heroes is able to be one shot by a simple jump, roll, spin dash, homing attack, mech shot, boost or punch with the only exceptions I can name off the top of my head being Sonic Rush, Sonic Unleashed’s night stages, and Sonic Frontiers. But those 3 examples are excusable since with Rush it’s only one enemy that has more than 1 HP that doesn’t spawn often and with the other 2 being based more on combat than speeding through levels as fast as possible. Your team will only be satisfying to play after everyone as at the maximum level of level 3 which can be difficult to do since whichever orbs enemies drop when defeated are not only random for when exactly they’ll drop but it’s also completely random who the level up is meant for. Imagine needing to level up your power character to get through a large horde of enemies but instead all the levels go to the other 2 teammates that are virtually useless in a fight. “Ah dammit, I needed a power orb to get to level 2…ah well might as well give my other teammates their 50th orb of the fight.” The only ways to get guaranteed levels for a certain character is with certain item boxes and balloons scattered throughout the level and with checkpoints but the latter only works for the character leading the formation when touching the checkpoint, not to mention they’re single use only. And say you grinded all those levels so you can blitz through this level, guess what, if you die all of your levels get reset and it doesn’t matter if you only lose a life or game over. And i’ve made it very clear how easy it is to unintentionally kill yourself in this game.
Something else that isn’t properly explained is the hidden difficulty system. The problem is that each team campaign has a hidden difficulty system but the game doesn’t tell you that at all unless you want to willingly listen to Omochao(note that I played the tutorial and afterwards I actively avoided his tips on the main menu). The difficulty from easy to hard is Teams Rose, Sonic, Dark, and Chaotix being a gimmick team but the game orders them from Sonic, Dark, Rose, Chaotix which is bad game design because not only are people gonna wanna play as the main character Sonic the Hedgehog, but with how the stories are laid out players would instinctively play from left to right causing them to play the game on normal, hard, easy, and then gimmick which doesn’t make too much sense. I knew the difficulty levels before going in but I played in order of Sonic, Rose, Dark, Chaotix because I like Sonic as a character. But what I wasn’t prepared for is that this game is kinda hard even on the normal difficulty because the game is full of jank that can just kill you for playing the game as intended.
But now for Team Rose and Team Dark. Team Rose is so piss easy that it’s insulting for players who are well affirmed with the series. For one they force you to play the tutorial even after you’ve completed a story previously. Which btw this is the most bullshit tutorial in the history of gaming. Most games have pop ups with button commands and visuals to help the player out or they let the player figure things out themselves. Sonic Heroes does neither of these but instead have this little annoying ass robotic fuck hold your hand throughout the entire thing. What makes this worse is that every time he pops up to tell you what to do your character is stuck in place as you gotta wait for him to shut up so you can play the game only for you to be stopped by his rambling again and again and again until it’s finally over. And most of the skills players can learn on their own since it’s not that hard to just press a random button and get immediate feedback of “oh this button does this? cool beans''. Their moveset is also broken with Amy’s tornado attack being a moving projectile meaning you don’t have to willingly get in contact with the enemy in order to use it, Big having a combo that doesn’t have him move so he can’t fall off the map along with a broken belly flop that’s good for not only combat but weirdly enough platforming, and Cream…she’s just the flier. Their Team Blast is just a win button for no good reason. Not only does it give all of your teammates a free level, not only does it give your team a shield, but it makes your entire team INVINCIBLE. Ok game I get it, stop treating me like a baby. And the finishing touch is that all the levels are cut in half. Awesome. Setting up unrealistic expectations for newcomers and disrespecting older players in one foul swoop.
And then there’s Team Dark…oh Team Dark…when they said this was the “hard” mode they were lying. Because it should’ve been called “kaizo” mode. Enemies are everywhere including places they shouldn’t be, the amount of rings available is greatly reduced, And the bosses become borderline impossible to beat at times(except for the rival fights but we’ll get to that). And not only are there more enemies but the stronger variants of said enemies spawn more frequently. And you’d think their Team Blast would make things better, well yes and no but here’s why. Their Team Blast freezes time completely and I mean completely. Rings don’t spin, projectiles don’t move, even the timer doesn’t tick down. But the most annoying part is if you’re using your Team Blast to try and move forward the puzzles are stuck in time too until the gauge runs out so you gotta sit and wait to move on. And even after you move on the game will probably toss 3 giant armored robots at you at once that fight like mini-bosses(if you know you know) immediately after your Team Blast just ran out.
But before I talk about the final team with Team Chaotix I wanna talk about the level design! Yippee! Except not really because it’s all terrible. The locations and themes are unique in their own right but each level suffers from their own issues coupled with all the bugs that can kill you outright without the player having any time to think about what just happened. Ignoring the main bugs, Seaside Hill and Ocean Palace are fine first levels in all honesty. Power Plant’s elevator section is long and tedious and it’s worse if you have a character than use the Light Speed Dash along with a super stressful rising lava section that you gotta hurry up to climb or else you’re dead. But oooh nooo it’s not that easy because the lava moves faster along with the player which means if you’re too slow, you die and if you’re too fast…you die. Casino Park and Bingo Highway have pinball mechanics that will leave you stuck in one of the tables forever unless you’re a pinball god or just lucky. And we just love games marketed at children that encourage gambling addictions, especially if said gambling minigames are rng. Rail Canyon and Bullet Station rely entirely on rails which don’t work properly as I said before and Bullet Station in particular has a cannon that’s supposed to shoot you onto another rail track but in actuality it fires you straight into the death zone if you’re unaware about this and hold forward…and because it’s a Sonic the Hedgehog game you’re gonna do that. “Gotta go fast” and all that. Frog Forest and Lost Jungle have flying flowers that are so jittery they’re impossible to control, swinging vines with an awkward timing window, and it ends on a chase sequence against a giant crocodile that relies on the janky vines that last way too long. Hang Castle and Mystic Mansion are puzzle-filled mazes with ghost enemies that show up at the worst of times to jumpscare you…which is all the time, and everything else(we all know these levels sucks moving on). Egg Fleet and Final Fortress have tons of bullshit cannons that can home in on you, can snipe you out of the air which can hit you out of a platforming segment and send you falling to your death, crumbling floors, everything’s in the sky so there’s almost no floor to stand on, and rails. The worst part about it all is that all 4 campaign’s use the same exact 14 levels. You heard me right. ALL 4 CAMPAIGNS USE THE EXACT SAME LEVELS. Sonic Adventure 2 had 2 campaigns with levels that heavily differed from each other one way or another. Each campaign has either a speed level, a treasure level, or a mech level and even then it’s not equal to how many levels each type of level gets and each level has a different setting and music track. Rush is the one case I can think of where the campaigns had minor differences. Only thing is that those differences are huge. The levels are the same but they’re in a different order for Sonic and Blaze, Blaze plays completely differently from Sonic, Blaze gets her own music tracks, and Sonic has to use special stages to get the Chaos Emeralds while Blaze doesn’t need any to get the Sol Emeralds. And at the end of every other stage you gotta face off against-
Bosses! They all suck for different reasons. The mech fights boil down to mashing homing attacks like it’s a Mario Party minigame, the rival team fights are a joke, and the horde fights…oh my god the horde fights. I’m just gonna rip the band-aid off here. ROBOT. FUCKING. STORM. This is not only the worst “level” in Sonic Heroes but the worst boss fight out of any Sonic game I have ever played. Team Sonic’s is hard enough as is, Team Rose’s is a pushover(as is every boss in their campaign really), Team Chaotix…we’ll get to them later. But Team Dark’s has to be the boss fight that throws the bullshit at you. Don’t believe me well then let’s see here, we got; a long robot gauntlet that feels like it takes years to get over with, more enemies that spawn with a lot of them being the stronger variants of the enemies we’ve already be accustomed to, multiple giant hammer wielding robots paired with either robots that heal them or robots that sap all your rings which because it’s a Sonic game it’s basically life steal, and because this game was programmed with monkeys holding hammers the enemies will constantly knock your ass off the map and there is NOTHING you can do about it except pray. Pray to rn-Jesus that you can make it out alive with what little sanity is left in your body. And after all that Eggman has the balls to say what I'd call the worst line in any Sonic game, “Don’t get too excited boys! Those were the easy ones!”. It’s genuinely unbelievable that such a level exists. This was marketed towards kids. How is fucking little Casey who just got Sonic Heroes as their first video game gonna beat this shit? He’s not. Because the developers didn’t think about that just like they didn’t think about anything in this game except making a “fun” gimmick. But that’s not all. Because there’s one more boss...
Egg Emperor…and the bullshit continues. I definitely know what true evil is when facing this boss all right. The fight consists of running across a few platforms before making your way over to a bigger arena. The boss only has 3 attacks but 2 of them are what make this boss a slog to get through. He can fire energy waves by swinging his lance like he’s Cloud Strife and a charge attack that has no weaknesses that the game says activates whenever you’re too far from him. Because this is a Sonic game I figured that meant he can only charge if you’re too slow, but if you manage to run ahead of him he’ll charge anyway. But if you get too close to him you could risk either getting hit by a lance beam or by his massive hurtbox. And you might be thinking “why don’t you homing attack the body at that point?” and that’s because he has a shield that blocks all attacks and it’s only worth attacking his body after the second part of the fight where you go to that arena section. In the arena section you have to destroy some cannons and defeat some enemies before getting to the big man himself. You can make him drop his shield by using Thunder Shoot and follow up with your Power character but you probably wouldn’t do as much damage as you were hoping for since in order to do any real damage you’ll have to level your Power character up to level 3 which could take forever in this fight. After a certain amount of time the boss will flee causing you to chase after him again and repeat the boss cycle. But don’t go too fast because then you’ll wind up smacking right into his body or he’ll swat you out the air like a fly with a lance beam attack. And you can’t go too slow or else he’ll just charge at you which if he does it at the wrong time he can intercept your approach and boop you off the map meaning you’ll be dead. And if you thought that was enough, because the developers don’t know how to properly make things different between campaigns you have to fight this motherfucker 4 SEPARATE TIMES. And it doesn’t matter what campaign you go through because you’ll always have a tough time regardless of difficulty. I know it’s the final boss and that it’s meant to be a challenge but holy shit tone it down, there’s kids playing this shit.
And the last campaign involves Team Chaotix and they’re by far my favorite team to play as…and they still have problems. Instead of going through levels the same way you did 3 separate times already it instead focuses on missions. And I have mixed feelings about this. It’s great because it finally keeps things fresh and gives the player another way to experience the game that isn’t platforming focused. The problem is the fact that it’s still the same levels, levels that were meant for an action platformer instead of things finding an x amount of…I don’t know seashells. While the treasure hunting stages were my least favorite aspect of Sonic Adventure 2 they at least did a better job with the concept than some of the collecting missions in Heroes since the maps are built specifically for this kind of gameplay and there was at least a tracker telling you if you were going in the right direction. The Chaotix has you searching through levels you’re meant to speed through while not giving you any sort of tracker to tell you if you’re in the right direction. The Casino Park one in particular was the worst one because of the instructions: “Win 200 Rings!”. Anyone who sees this probably assumes they mean to use the slot machines since we’re a casino level with slot machines built into the pinball tables. But the thing is you can easily just collect 200 rings by playing the stage. But the game doesn’t say collect 200 rings, it says win 200 rings which is the dumbest piece of misinformation in this game and that’s saying something since this game loves to withhold information from the player for no reason. Like did you know you can fire your Thunder Shoot at nothing to charge your team gauge? Or that even though the game says to use a Speed character’s tornado to deal with shield enemies Power characters can punch right through them no problem? You probably didn’t because the game doesn’t tell you this. Anyway the stealth missions are the best ones because Espio’s invisibility is broken. And their Team Blast causes any enemy destroyed to turn into rings and for the duration of the meter any enemy destroyed turns into rings. This is the most broken move in the game. Why? Well remember when I said that the Team Gauge charges from attacking enemies and collecting rings? Well the game counts any rings collected towards the meter. Meaning if you destroy enough enemies at once with this attack you can immediately get your gauge back to repeatedly use again and again. It’s such an easy exploit to pull off that I'm not even surprised that this was left unchecked in all honesty. It even makes the dreaded Robot Storm look like a joke.
So that’s it. You beat all the 4 campaigns and you’d think that it’s time for the usual last story, right?...right? Well unfortunately special stages make a return and with that the 7 Chaos Emeralds. And this is by far the worst one. In the past special stages were unlocked by method of holding at least 50 rings until the end of the stage and jumping into a warp ring in Sonic 1 or holding at least 50 rings and jumping into a star post in Sonic 2 or by jumping into a giant warp ring hidden in the level in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Sonic Heroes decided they wanna be a bit quirky in a horrible way. In order to access the special stages in this game you have to collect a key hidden in the stage and bring that key with you until the end of the level or mission in order to unlock the special stages and collect the Emeralds…there’s so much wrong with this…Not only is it already easy for the game to send your ass to the shadow realm for existing but if you get hit and lose your key it doesn’t just fall out like rings do, it disappears completely meaning you’ll have to reload at a checkpoint or worse, restart the entire level every single time you get hit. And after you get through that bullshit we get to the special stage itself…if you’ve played this game you already know what’s up. The special stage acts similarly to the half pipe in Sonic 2 but except it’s a full enclosed pipe you run around in. The goal is to collect orbs to fill your boost meter and speed ahead to catch the emerald. It sounds very simple but remember, this game was coded by monkeys with hammers so the physics don’t function. Your character will constantly jitter around while moving making positioning yourself impossible when trying to collect the orbs. You have to pick between a Power or Speed character because Flight characters are too slow to do anything but even then you’re picking your poison. Do you wanna control your character better at the cost of speed or do you wanna go fast in order to get the emerald quickly at the cost of controlling your character? ‘Cause that’s exactly what it feels like. And I'm still not done because each Emerald is locked into every other stage. Sonic 1, 2, and 3 & Knuckles allows you to get the Emeralds as easy as the first 2 or 3 zones if you know what you’re doing. If you miss an emerald in one of the few stages they appear in you’ll have to repeat the level and do everything I just explained ALL OVER AGAIN. WHAT KIND OF COLLECTOR HATING SADISTIC BASTARD THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA WHEN THE EMERALDS ARE REQUIRED TO BEAT ALL OF THE STORY!? Before going in I knew how bad the special stages were while being blissfully unaware how bad the unlock requirements were so I used save states(yes I used an emulator) to collect the emeralds in a timely fashion. Not only did this end up taking longer than expected even with save states but I was forced to keep using them for every time I got hit, sent off the stage, or missed the Emerald causing my save file to corrupt and erase all my data. Which caused the auto save to fail and use exclusively save states to progress. And let me tell you, nothing’s scarier than booting up the game and discovering all of your save data has been completely erased even after you completed 2 campaigns previously.
Before I get into the last couple topics of discussion I'll touch on some minor things that don’t warrant their own paragraph individually. The voice acting is hit or miss with stand outs like Omega and Sonic and then there’s instances of some of the worst voice acting in the series with Tails where they deadass brought an 8 year old to voice the character. “Look at all those Eggman’s robots!”. But it gets weirder since Cream was voiced by an actual voice actress and Charmy was voiced by a teenager. Doesn’t help that the game has the characters not stop talking for every single damn action in the game. It’s the same cheesy lines for the entire playthrough. The game looks ugly with the admittedly improved models having textures that look like they’re plastic toys ready to be sold in some Walmart or Target. The pre rendered cutscenes might be revolutionary at the time but are horribly dated by today’s standards and the in game cutscenes that start at the beginning of boss fights and levels look extremely jittery and stiff with characters’ arms flailing to move into position, Omega’s eyes constantly bugging out, and the camera repeatedly having a stroke. Some assets feel like they are copy/pasted and slapped onto characters that don’t make sense. Omega and Big share the same aura color along with Espio and Sonic sharing the same aura color, purple and blue respectively. Omega’s triple glide animation looks exactly like Knuckles’ even though he could’ve been animated to use his thrusters. Rouge has a weird outfit change that is never used again. Some might think that it could be for censorship reasons but her chest is still exposed through a cleavage slit in the outfit which makes me wonder why they even bothered to change it. Plus her pink eyeshadow is less aesthetically pleasing than her iconic bright blue. It’s unclear if all the teams are doing everything at the same exact time or not making things really confusing. The way the characters are written are all over the place with a mixed bag across the board. Team Dark’s great as characters but then you have Tails who’s portrayed to act like some scaredy baby and Amy who’s been turned into a hyper thirsty yandere that’s willing to beat Sonic into marrying her. But all of that is nothing compared to how dirty they did Shadow.
Every team has their own mini story that drives their plot forwards; Team Sonic has to find and defeat Eggman, Team Rose is looking for their lost friends, Team Chaotix is tryna get the bread, and Omega, specifically Omega, is out to look for Eggman for revenge for locking him in a vault. Shadow though…ok first off, why is he here? He literally sacrificed himself to save the planet Earth from the space colony Ark with characters honoring said sacrifice and mourning his death, Sonic included…But then they decided to bring him back along with amnesia and a clone side story that makes him question who he is. The clone story is the dumbest shit in this entire damn game. As if it wasn’t enough to make him forget all the events of Sonic Adventure 2, which can kinda make sense if he was sent into a coma after crashing on Earth. But now he has to go through some midlife crisis level shit to try and figure out his past and if he’s even real, which spoiler alert: this game doesn’t resolve either plot point. These points were further developed and resolved by the next game; Shadow the Hedgehog which wasn’t the best game by all means but it gave more of a fuck to have a concrete story than Heroes ever did. And what’s worse is if the clones were gonna be brought up again in Shadow the Hedgehog and then be resolved in that same game then what the fuck was the point of doing any of this shit in Heroes!? All that did was leave Shadow’s story on a cliffhanger that accomplished nothing but made fans confused and left them with unanswered questions for 2 years until Shadow the Hedgehog came out.
But finally, after collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds and beating all 4 Team campaigns you’re rewarded with the Last Story which reveals that Metal Sonic was the real mastermind behind everything that happened in the game so he can copy everyone’s data and assume a powerful new form…that takes way too long to transform into…with Metal Overlord…just to beat Sonic. Not even world domination, just to beat Sonic. While his dedication is admirable it’s a really shallow goal. Plus the buildup towards him being the main big bad isn’t handled as well as it could’ve been. All we get are a background element that people would miss if they’re too focused on just beating the level, an extra animation at the end of a boss cutscene that only appears for Team Sonic and Shadow’s story, and a few lines of dialogue from Team Chaotix’s “client” that makes it clear that it’s Eggman. But it would’ve been better to actually know how all of this happened in the first place. Metal Sonic shows up as Neo Metal Sonic as the first time we see him in this game with no explanation as to how he got this form or how he found out he can copy others’ abilities. Not even a cutscene or backstory from Eggman in the final story, instead he just complains about how they can’t defeat him without the Chaos Emeralds. Without prior knowledge I wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking that Metal Sonic just got a redesign since he hadn't made an appearance in the Adventure era at that time. How cool would it have been to have been given cutscenes showing us Metal Sonic twisting and contorting his body to not only show how he managed to do this in the first place but how far he’s willing to go to beat Sonic without spoiling the final form to leave the audience in suspense before the final act? And him not revealing that he copied Team Rose and Team Chaotix data kinda comes off as him not recognizing their strengths and calling them too weak to copy from, even if he didn’t say so himself. The segment where the teams do their best to weaken Metal Madness for Team Sonic is fine enough except the coding monkeys did it again and made it so that Flying characters can’t do any damage. But then there’s the final battle with Super Team Sonic…Team Super Sonic…uh…a Chaos Emerald powered Team Sonic. Admittedly the fight is really cool with Metal Overlord chucking entire battleships at the player and talking about how he believes he’s the real Sonic as What I’m Made Of blasts in the background. But there’s 2 major things that bring this fight down for me. Sonic Adventure 2 did a similar sequence of the cast of characters help Sonic and Shadow go super and defeat the big bad. Only difference being the buildup was more elaborate and the stakes were higher as if they failed the entire planet was at stake along with the presentation of the final fight being better in every way. One fight takes place in outer space while the other takes place in the sky a vague height above the ground. And most insulting of all they robbed us of bringing back Super Knuckles and Super Tails. This might’ve been because of the retcon of super forms only being possible with male hedgehogs but that was a massive missed opportunity. And after the fight is done Sonic drops one of the corniest one liners in the franchise, the 5th set of unskippable credits scrolls on screen, and the game tells you to do everything again but get to A ranks this time as one final fuck you.
In conclusion the game had a lot of…interesting ideas to say the least in terms of mixing up the Sonic formula. Unfortunately they used too much gas when trying to cook and sent the entire dish ablaze. I think if they let this game simmer a bit more and took at least a year to iron out all the bugs and mishaps since this game was developed in 20 months. As a comparison Sonic Adventure 2 took 18 months to develop and was still better. And while I've made comparisons to past Sonic games I wanna make it clear that I am aware of the flaws those other games have. After all, nothing is perfect. But Sonic Team at least could’ve made sure that their game was worth it in spite of these flaws by tweaking some game mechanics to make them more fun. And feel free to say why you’d think this game is peak Sonic. Alright that’s all, thanks for reading this far and have a fantastic day.

2024.05.17 22:02 Shadow_Flamingo1 Ninjago DESERVES a full scale Lego videogame.

Ninjago DESERVES a full scale Lego videogame.

It's actually ridiculous that after 13 years, all we've gotten were spinoffs and small-budget games, nothing proper.
TT has made 4 DC games, 3 Marvel games, 4 Star Wars games, and the list goes on; how many original games have they made? Unless I'm mistaken, only Undercover and a couple of lackluster Ninjago games.
It baffles me that Lego hasn't realized how awesome a Ninjago game based on the show would be. You'd think that after all of the Lego games that have been made, they'd consider making at the very least one solid Ninjago game. We've gotten a couple of decent games:
  1. The mobile games were pretty good for what they were, I jammed out to the Tournament one and the Final Battle on back in the day. It's too bad they were delisted. Good combat games.
  2. The Lego Ninjago Movie Videogame, which had a flawed hub world, didn't look as visually good as the other Lego games, and it didn't help that it was based off of the infamous movie. The combat system was actually very good for a Lego game, but that wasn't able to salvage the entire game. I'm happy we got it, but c'mon, this is the closest we've gotten to an actual Ninjago game. It even had TV show characters and stuff, but not enough.
  3. The hub world and level from Lego Dimensions. NGL I never got to experience Dimensions because broke, but from what I've watched online the hub world looked real cool, and you were able to build all the iconic places in Ninjago. The Chen level also looked sweet.
  4. Shadow of Ronin, which was honestly a great original game based on the show, go and download it on your phone if you haven't played it yet. However, it's still pretty limited being that it was one of the PS VITA and 3DS budget-style Lego games, so it's not the best, but still pretty solid. It's got some very funny dialogue, they did an okay job with the voice actors (some are better than others), the story is pretty cool and a nice introduction to Ronin my main man, and gameplay-wise it's nice, pretty faithful to the show although there is contradictions and it's not-canon.
There has not been any mainstreamed Ninjago game to ever be done, and it's a big waste. Imagine the potential;
  • Having a massive hub world where you can explore a big chunk of Ninjago, using different vehicles that the Ninja have owned previously, with tons of side-missions and random thugs you could beat up.
  • They could use the show for cutscenes, and pleaseee use the original VAs, although that'd likely not happen.
  • They could even bring it up a notch and make it more like AAA games ala Ghost of Tsushima or smth and have it be an actual third-person action adventure game.
  • At the very least they should tackle the first two seasons plus pilots, I can't see them doing all 15 seasons, otherwise we'd get a Skywalker Saga situation. Maybe make sequels or something like that.
Anyways, thank you for coming to my rant and I'll be holding a protest at TT's headquarters in Maidenhead everyday until they release a Ninjago game. Bring signs and ninja masks.

2024.05.17 14:56 Vegetable-Notice-535 How to fix WWE (only the parts I care about)

I got lazy towards the end but idc
Randy deserves to have the same amount of world championships as Ric and Cena. Probably not gonna happen but he has never been a part timer. His feud with the company was much better than Punks (his acting, the story, the shock of what he did). His feud with Cena was much better than Rocks (Rock comes back to fuel his ego, which is okay he does bring entertainment with him, but Randy and Cena were the same generation and definitely the hero and the villan). And his match with the Undertaker was one of the best of all time at such a young age. It was amazing to see, Randy kicked off Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak by showing that not even with the help of his father could he beat the phenom. To this day it is one of the greatest feuds of all time, and he did it at such a young age. Granted The Undertaker did push Randy's career a whole lot, but the dead man would not do it if he didn't see talent in him. After Cody's victory against Logan, It would be the perfect time for Randy to turn heel and have a ladder match against Cody for both of the titles in which Cody wins the United States Title In the first half. Cody would then go on to defend the title against John Cena at Wrestlemania, giving Cena the perfect ending to HIS story, and the "my time is up, your time is now, defend that title the way I would" moment...or something like that. Cody fulfilled his story, now it's time to fulfill his purpose, defending the title on RAW and Smackdown, paying tribute to Cena on the first episode of RAW after Wrestlemania by saying "YOU WANT SOME COME GET SOME" giving the guys from NXT a boost and opening windows for crazy returns or debuts. Cena can finally retire knowing he was beat by the best in the company. Cody is not ready to be a WORLD champion. His story was great and such an amazing experience, but as he said when one story ends, another one begins. He is the AMERICAN Nightmare, his tattoo is AMERICAN, his clothes are AMERICAN, he just needs that AMERICAN BELT, on which he can put those eagles that he wanted...AMERICAN. The title itself looks like shit at the moment anyways. The US title did way more for Cena's character than any world title. Kids looked up to him the same way they look up to Cody right now. It only makes sense for the two superman of two different generations to battle it out for the U.S title, and bring back it's worth after the last few champions. Obviously Cody would have lost the world title to Randy, this is where Cena would come in and judge him on that after what everyone did to help him get it, so if Cody would lose the US title to someone, it would be him. He could also say something like "Gotta hand it to ya, you beat everyone since your return, but I can't let you wear that belt until you beat me." I'm sure they can come up with a better reason as to WHY they would feud but it's the best way to send Cena to retirement instead of having him lose to SOLO or Roman OR having him team up with superstars that just don't need it. Don't get me wrong, Roman should go up against the best of the best but Cena is not a good opponent for him. Last time they were in a feud it was like they were fighting for nothing. Cody needs to stop coming out in suits and come out with his gear on, with the coat and shit so his image becomes memorable and he can be recognized on billboards and on covers of products. Cena can also call him out on that. After Cena passes the torch to Cody, Cody begins inspiring new generations to be kind, respectable, not be jackasses like the heels he's gonna face, and become a childhood hero to many. Now, how does Randy become a heel? Well Randy used to be one and he used to cheat alot to win. As mentioned before he got a lot of help from his daddy, he wasn't this big and scary, he snaked his way to victory like a true viper. Well ironically he got outsmarted by a version of himself, a spoiled entitled annoying Logan Paul, not once, but twice. Since his return he has been playing by the rules, beaten everyone including Drew McIntyre, only to get robbed in the end. So he's done playing by the rules and wants his title shot against Cody. He complains to Cody that he has been robbed by Logan, to which Cody describes Logan to Randy and says "Sounds like someone I used to know". Randy makes a classic annoyed heel face. Cody then being Cody pays respect to Randy's father saying he was a hero of his, that maybe he could have learned more from him instead of calling him to fight his battles for him. Randy gets angry and starts shouting at Cody, talking about how Dusty was never there for him, but was there for everybody else in the locker room. He gets in Cody's face jaw cletched veins popping and says "You wanna remind me who was there teaching you everything they know? You wanna remind me who lift you up on their shoulders when you won your first Universal Championship?". He calms down, gets closer to his ear (no homo) and says "I'm your real daddy"...Looking at this site, seeing Orton look down on Cody, being taller and bigger than him, we realize that Cody is faced with his first real threat, not AJ Styles(who lost at WM and got a title shot wtf), not Logan Paul (Cody said: gimme that title lil bro) but a ghost from his past, someone who he used to call a friend not too long ago, and someone who he knows VERY WELL how dangerous he is, someone who's diabolical doings he's witnessed first hand, is coming for his titles... and he is bigger, stronger, wiser, and has been cheated out of every major title opportunity and title match since his return. Future promotions would consist of Randy getting into Cody's head, making him remember the traumas that he caused him. Maybe an RKO to Cody's wife. Randy hearing voices and attacking his friend Owens, sending him to the hospital only to realize what he's done later. Cody saying something like he thought he wouldn't see that side of him again and telling the WWE universe that the voices are back etc. Now... match wise... Cody has beaten everyone he's faced, won the Royal Rumble twice. Randy was the rightful winner of an Elimination Chamber and a Fatal 4 Way. Don't remember if Logan cheated last match but he probably did idk. Not only is Orton protected by the cheating but his back hurts alot even tho he said he's at a 100% once but ig they changed the script. No matter. Instead of all these things being an excuse for losing. They become an excuse for winning with cheap shots and stuff. He can maybe win the way he beat Cena, making Cody complain about it and Cena calling him out on it. Nonetheless, Randy's back is injured, Cody's a victim of a cheap move by Randy, They split the titles, setting them up for a future rematch. Meanwhile somewhere else in WWE Judgment day just lost their last piece of gold to Drew. Damien starts blaming erryone. Finn Balor has had enough and goes demon mode on everyone. Blah blah blah fast forward The Demon wants his title back that he never lost.(idc what the rest of the judgment day do...rhea will probably go psycho ex on dom if she heals up idk). Randy already hearing voices gets tickled some more by The demon. Randy tickles Finn a lil. Maybe Finn respectfully leaves the judgment day but they still friends so Randy's voices tell him to do bad stuff to them and showcase it to Finn, or maybe Finn can remind Randy what he did to his friend Kevin and fuck with him some more. BTW since Jey doesn't need a title to be relevant, he just wins king of the ring, but we will have to give him something soon cuz that dance will get old. Jimmy could come through and win the intercontinental championship and rub it in Jey's face, Jey wins, at the end they hug eachother squashin their beef and you hear THE TRIBAL CHIEF RETURN. Jimmy is hyped, Jey is confused, Roman comes down alone with no Paul or anybody for the first time in years looking all serious and the show ends. Fast forward CM Punk wins the royal rumble and challenges guess who. CM Punk finished his story bla bla most predictable sht ever (sorry I just don't get why he special, he old, out of shape, gets injured all the time, what is he the best in the world at BROOOOOO?) But that's what most of the fans want so I wouldn't change it. So anyway, Jey is defending his title and SOLO and the other two cause him the title which pushes jey to join Roman. Roman is asking SOLO why he doing stuff he wasn't ordered to do and then the rock comes back bla bla PAUL HEYMAN is rescued by Roman from the bad bloodline oooOOooOoOooO. And we finally get Roman VS Rock. And I hope Rock doesn't steal the spotlight from his cousins nomore. Idc what the rest of them are doing but at some point in his career, Jey needs to get abs and muscles and take a world title from Roman and ONLY ROMAN. Logan Paul teams up with his fuckboy buddies and helps them retain the titles. R-Truth don't need a title to be special and Miz izzznt Miz right now. Finn wins the title at Wrestlemania from Randy aaaaaaand fast forward to next year at Wrestlemania 42 someone is Universal champion idk who and Cody is facing him for the championship BUT Randy cashes in weeks before Wrestlemania and becomes 16 time World Champion. Sharing the spotlight with the teacher and the hero...is the villan. He wrestled till he couldn't wrestle anymore.
Moral: Cody's reign has been boring Randy is known around the world by current wrestling fans, past wrestling fans, and people who haven't watched wrestling at all. His music ICONIC rko ICONIC matches ICONIC Cody is what kids wanna see We want Randy on Netflix doing controversial shit like kissing Cody's mom in front of him

2024.05.17 11:51 RelationshipSure9817 Game Labels in Microsoft Stores

Hi all.
Recently I found out that no every backward compatible game bought on my Xbox One can be launched on my Xbox 360 (cause of regional restrictions, I have US account and PAL Xbox 360 console). Also It was very frustrating to buy Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier on sale to play co-op with my friend just to find month later that servers are down (when I bought it was playable, month later we can't pass launch screen by normal means and according to several forums servers for this game should have been disabled years ago) and we can't play it coop (we in different regions). So my questions are:
Why there is no Label in Microsoft Store that servers for this game Should be disabled with date? - it is pretty easy to implement
Why there is no Label that external servers are used (not p2p) in the game? Why there is no Status-Label with green/red light with just ping to server is it available? - this is too very easy with simple server helthcheck.
Why there is no rules from Store for developers, that you can't make game with single player mode which can't be launched without connecting to the external servers? (Hello Crew, old Assassin's Creeds and Future Soldier). Or should be Label for that too with obvious icon
I think these are pretty obvious steps. Would do you think?

2024.05.17 08:47 arlondiluthel Local Comic-Con

My local Comic-Con (Colorado Springs) started announcing scheduled celebrity for this year's event in August about a month ago. The most recent wave of announcements includes our very own Ghost, Nolan North! It's also uncommon for them to include just a single actoactress from a franchise unless they have an "iconic" presence (for example last year one of the guests was William Shatner), so more may follow.

2024.05.16 22:53 wekkins How to plan a day, as a first-timer? (Advice for Ghost Town Alive is especially appreciated!)

I'm planning a trip in early July for my best friend's birthday. Ghost Town Alive sounds very similar to one of the best days we ever had in Disneyland, so a buddy and I are going to surprise her with a fun costume, and a visit to participate for the day! I know though that it only lasts for part of the day, and I'm a bit lost on what to do after 4:30. I'm a Disney person through and through, and so are both my best friend, and our buddy who's going with us, so typically if we're choosing a park to spend time at, Disneyland/CA Adventure is a no-brainer. I really have no idea how different Knott's is in terms of wait times for rides, or anything like that, so any tips are appreciated.
Is the app useful?
What are the most important or iconic rides to check out? (Two of us are in our 30s, and have developed some motion sickness issues, so we should probably avoid much spinning.)
Recommendations for where to eat?
Any other special sources of entertainment to keep an eye out for?
Thanks in advance. :)
