Disclaimer 1: I originally wrote a post which I just scrapped, because it would have been not quite fitting, because my story was very long and it involves depression and i don't want to post a sob story as it is not allowed - I am here to look for advice, so i'll cut it down to whats really necessary. If something is missing or you would like to know something feel free to ask me under this post.
Disclaimer 2: Please excuse me if my english is not perfect, I'm a foreigner. If there are any questions coming up due to a language barrier feel free to ask them under this post.
Disclaimer 3: I know making a decision like this is not always easy. I don't want any of you to take that decision for me, I'm generally looking for advice to my situation.
About me:
I'm a 27 year old male, currently studying Media Engineering at my local university, i am about 6 semesters in, tho not even close to that with the classes I took and the classes i should have taken. My biggest hobbies are video games, wrenching and informing myself about cars and predator fishing.
Highschool:
I got my highschool degree at a local highschool, which focuses on design and media engineering. After graduating I wanted to start an apprenticeship in media, as messing around with cameras, editing and design software aswell as programming have been a big part of me during my teenage years. Fast forward: Even with sending out a ton of applications within one and a half year I failed to get the apprenticeship I wanted.
In the meantime I worked gastation jobs for a bit until I got a fulltime job in a car factory of a big manufacturer - partially in production, partially assissting mechanics in QA and repair. This was a student-job (eventhough fulltime), so they sadly could only give me a timed contract, which I was able to extend twice until they had to cut down student jobs. This job is gonna have an important role later on. During this job i had the time of my life.
Apprenticeship:
After failing to get the apprenticeship I wanted and the next starting time for apprenticeships coming closer I decided i have to take an apprenticeship which was more or less an emergency solution. Once again fast forward: I quit that apprenticeship because I hated the job and part of the company, which was foreseeable as it was just an emergency solution.
University:
While working some part time jobs again I saw a university course my local university had to offer, which was media engineering and basically what i wanted to do as an apprenticeship before. This was right about when covid hit the world, just for reference.
In the first 2 semester I really enjoyed everything. I got more involved with programming, 3D but also 2D art and started getting closer toward game development - because you know, i love video games, but i also started to notice that I generally lost almost all interest I had in videogames, even playing them so also university started to become more and more a chore for me. I started only taking one class over the course of 2 semesters and started to lack motivation. I started hating everything about working on it, especially the more and more it would come to a professional level it just wasn't what I imagined and had fun with anymore.
After taking less classes and even one semester off i started to notice i had fun with videogames as a freetime activity again.
Now:
Over the course of the past months I still continued wrenching whenever there was something to do on my car or my family members cars that I could fix on my own. I also love to teach myself about it. Thats where the job at the car factory comes in. I never had the feeling that while I was working with cars that I couldn't do it in my freetime, i still enjoyed it in my freetime. Even family members told me that they could really see me in that field while i was working on cars and that they saw that i really enjoyed it.
Two weeks ago i spoke about random stuff with my neighbor, who is about same age as me, and working for a car shop as a mechanic in my area. He told me that they were having trouble finding apprentices for this year and offered me a job aswell. (Struggleing to find apprentices or skilled workers over here this is really a sad normal case nowadays in trade jobs)
I kind of started thinking more about it and could also really see me working in that trade and also talked to one of my sisters about it, who wasn't opposed to it.
What would you guys advice me to do? I'm just really unsure about quitting something for the second time. Theres always coming a lot of judgement with it, especially from those people around who got to do what they love after just getting it first try. In general I think I'm really not too old yet with only 27 years of age, but also not the youngest anymore, as I graduated highschool already 7 years ago. I'm not really close to a university degree that I would say i have to finish it, i would say i'm about halfway done only.
I generally am a big fan of doing what you love to do and not doing something you don't love, since it accompanies you for a big chunk of your lifetime.
I may be naive, but well this is how I feel about this situation.

If you were an unfamiliar fan tuning in during the final moments of many games, you’d be puzzled: who are these guys? How are they tying the score against Joker, JT, Bron, and AD? But most of the time, effort couldn’t beat talent. No worries, I was just as surprised as you. But after watching the Grizzlies' final game of the season in the early morning, I took a deep breath as the fleeting memories of the past six months flashed before my eyes like a slideshow, and I understood them. This is the Grizzlies' second-lowest win rate season in the past 15 years. They had 33 players wear the jersey, missed 578 games due to injury, and used 51 different starting lineups (all NBA records). Even one of the league’s loudest home courts, FedEx Forum, often had many empty seats for most of the season. "For just $2, you can see Timmy Allen, Jack White, and Zavier Simpson play live!" This isn’t a joke. On April 9, facing the Spurs at home, all three played at least 25 minutes. They limited Rookie of the Year Wemby to 18 points on 19 shots but were still dominated on the boards by Sandro Mamukelashvili and lost the game. Despite several key players coming and going, last season the Grizzlies boasted the league's best home record (35-6), but this season they only won nine games at home. After back-to-back home losses to the Blazers (who finished last in the West with 21 wins but beat the Grizzlies three times) on March 2, GG Jackson admitted postgame: "You see your fans leaving with like 8 minutes left in the game, that really sticks us as players. The Grizzlies’ net rating still ranked higher than their record, their defensive efficiency remained in the top ten, but they couldn’t score. A Brief SpringDecember 20—just an ordinary game day, but Grizzlies fans had been waiting almost four months. These might be true, but I only learned about him after he was drafted—watching him tearfully talk to ZK on a call, watching his college highlight reels showcasing his versatile offensive skills and confidence, his enviable physique, these on-court aspects captivated me. I followed his performance throughout Summer League, and his smooth catch-and-shoot and diligent defensive footwork made me even more optimistic about his future. At the time, I was probably the only one publicly praising him. I voiced my support in every platform I had—podcasts, Weibo, even the comment section of the pay raise public account: Check out GG! He has a chance to enter the rotation! For the first half of the season, he barely played, putting up numbers in the G League. On January 13, 2024, with Nemo, Bane, and Smart all out, TJ had no choice but to put GG into the rotation, giving him 27 minutes. In his first effective NBA game, GG scored 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting; the next game against the Warriors, 23 points. In 42 effective games, he averaged 16.4 points and 4.5 rebounds, hitting 36% of his shots, averaging 2.4 three-pointers per game. He scored 20+ in 12 games, 30+ in three, and posted 44+12 against a full-strength Nuggets in the final game. If GG had entered the rotation earlier, could he have made the All-Rookie First Team? Quite possibly, as he’s a natural scorer who excels in big moments and national broadcasts (how rare is this for the youngest player in the league?). His other contributions in games were limited, but considering the Grizzlies’ environment, their league-worst offense, the pressure he faced, and the difficulty of his scoring might have been greatly underestimated. GG dropped 31 points against a full-strength Lakers, almost the only player able to initiate scoring, making a top-five play dunk over Rui Hachimura. Regardless, GG has earned respect. And for Grizzlies fans, even better news is that the team converted his contract to a four-year, $8.5 million deal with a fourth-year team option in February. As a Reddit Grizzlies fan put it, "This is Pippen contract level theft." Vince and GG, two second-round picks, played convincingly in ways no one expected. The Grizzlies have locked them in on affordable long-term contracts for at least three years, and they will undoubtedly be key rotation or even starting players for the Grizzlies next season—what did the Grizzlies trade to acquire them? Zero. Praying to the Basketball GodsThough Grizzlies fans' moods might be 1,000 times better than three months ago, this remains a completely wasted season. For a young team that matched up against the champions two years ago, this isn’t good. The Grizzlies still have plenty of draft picks, but their salary cap is tight. Their core 3 is still young and talented, but two other young core teams—at least the Timberwolves and Thunder—are ready. The Grizzlies are nowhere near their position two years ago. But this "wasted" season allowed them to eliminate many wrong options and secure several key players. Even if the offseason only brings an average starting center, their roster strength is very, very solid (I don’t think any current team could consistently beat a healthy 2024 Grizzlies). They maintained high defensive levels, forced turnovers, and blocks with many non-NBA players, and they possess better three-point shooting than the past two years. In 2022, Dillon played only 32 games and was out of sorts in the playoffs, with Morant also injured midway; in 2023, key players were in and out, losing inside reserves to the Lakers in a seven-game upset; this year, the entire team suffered the worst injury wave in NBA history. Like the Clippers in recent years, injuries are the easiest topic to discuss without being wrong because no one can control them, and they always happen. So, I can only pray to the basketball gods: it can’t get worse than this. I desperately want to see a fully healthy Morant-Bane-Jaren Grizzlies team play a playoff series, even if they are easily beaten by a better team. I don’t want to look back years later and be left with a pile of "what ifs." |

I am very new to the building block game. My Mom gifted me a small Lego Tractor Set (Xerion 42102) for christmas because I was a huge farming fan as a child. Last Week I finally got to built it with my GF and it was really fun. Especially the technical part (gears and stuff :D) was fun to put together. So now we're in search for some sets with technical aspects that also look decorative, because most of the time they gonna stand on some shelf. We both aren't really into cars/ships/etc which sadly are most of the technic sets I found. I already stumbled upon the Modbrix bee (9014) which I wil definitely buy as my gf really likes all kind of animals :D I would really appreciate some more suggestions on sets that go in the same direction (doesn't have to be animals, could also be plants, buildings, whatever).

- "Lap 1" was from the 50K start to the timing mat. ** "Lap 33" was the remainder from my GPS watch auto-split to the end of the lap/race. ‡ "3 Days at the Fair" went from 13 May to 19 May 2024 (yep!). I was there 18 May.
Training
This was a spring full of sharp turns and hard knocks. The original training went towards the Cheap Marathon in Derry, NH. (That race was reported upon by flocculus here.) Training then consisted of maintaining 30-40 weekly miles, with a weekly long run adding two miles from the prior week, with some fluctuation. My hometown is quite hilly, so I foregone specific hill training as all of my runs were not near flat. My final long run was 21.5 miles March 6 before tapering down my weekly long runs.A freak snowstorm delayed the Cheap Marathon from 4/6 to 4/20, however on 4/9 I fell in my gym shower. Either a rib contusion or hairline fracture paused any running or training for nearly two weeks. Scrambling for some sort of race to scratch the itch and not toss away months of prior training, I found 3 Days at the Fair online – a six day affair featuring ultramarathon categories from 50K to 144H races. They offered a marathon category, with an alluring 50K at similar start times. Naturally, I signed up for shy of 5 more miles than a marathon. One of my running mates gave me the best advice that "ultra running is more of an eating contest than anything else." Considering that during prior marathons I had salt tabs and 3 or 4 GU packets, I thought more about this statement. Hoping my ribs and legs would stand up, I went for the race.
Note: If registering for this race, you can choose the specific date and time you wish to start it. Just stick to that time. I would end up toeing the line with three other 50K runners who opted for the Saturday 9AM start. One could have theoretically started their run any day between Monday and Saturday, at 9AM or 6PM.
Pre-race
The Sussex County NJ fairgrounds were easy enough for me to get to. Those who were not running longer ultra races had plenty of parking mere steps from the registration/food/starting line. (Those running longer races have opportunities to park campers, tents, and so forth.) Weather was gray and cool, at 58˚F/14˚C -ish. I ended up playing with how I'd pack for the run, before noticing racks set up after the start line into which you could place your water bottle so as to not hold it the entire time.Race
For check-in, I picked up my swag (a plush bathrobe) and timing ankle chip. No bibs here! At 8:50, marathoners and 50K'ers were brought to the respective start lines, 0.1 and 0.2 miles after the timing mat. At 9AM, we would run against the sea of all other runners back to the starting mat, turn around, and continue in the anti-clockwise 1 mile loop course. This is why marathons are 27 laps and 50K is 32 laps – that quarter lap registered as "lap 1 completed," so 31.1 miles registers as 32 at the end. I'm getting ahead of myself!I found the course compelling enough to follow. After the timing mat, there is a short uphill that weaves past the toilet and shower area, and toward a hairpin. While the 'pin itself was set wide, most of the time I would walk it because of traffic or weakening knees. This continued straight past a Camper's Row of sorts with mild downhill. The second half runs a long arch around the grounds, with a gradual gentle uphill. The course is paved except for a 200m segment of packed gravel – if it had rained, this part could've been muddy. The course completed after a shot down a causeway, and left turning back to the mat. It's this area where registration, fuel/food/catering, and timing is displayed. Overall, no real potholes to be concerned about, just 31 total laps of this!
Hydration and food – tons of everything including Impossible Burgers, PB&J, cola, and sports vitamins – was supplied after the timing mat. I kept track of which lap I was on with a big-screen projection. My name, lap number, prior lap time, and total time appeared. Every 30 minutes or so I decided to take in calories. This included GU Rocktane, GU Vanilla (sooooo good), two stroopwaffels, two ice pops, and a few salt tabs. It was roughly 400 or so more calories than I would have consumed during a race. Hydration was also a factor, that the course was completely uncovered made me feel hotter and "drier" than normal. I might have taken on about 50 fl oz / 1.5 liters of water. My stomach tolerated this!
The main causeway/timing mat area is where I stopped for water and stowed my foods so I didn't have to carry it around. Early on, I didn't understand where the timing screen was, so took minor detours in the registration area. These factors are why my paces seem inconsistent by 30-odd seconds per mile at points.
The people here are amazing! Other runners were highly supportive, chatty, upbeat. One person was dressed up like a chicken (the race logo featured one), and another person blasted some pretty appropriate and popular tunes. It would be a game for me to guess the artist or song on every lap – we had a great banter going! Another group had a dry-erase board and changed it every few minutes or so with a new dad joke. Naturally, I had to stop to retort with another. For example, they wrote, "3.14% of sailors are pi-rates!" I replied, "if it's $4.50 in Jamaica for a beef patty, $3.50 in DR, and $2 in Trinidad, are those the pie rates of the Caribbean?" Sorry, not sorry.
The lack of proper training began to present itself around mile 22. Pacing was targeted at 8:00-8:15 per mile, with goal half-marathon splits at 1h45m or so. After mile 26, I was 3h40m44s, ten minutes off goal pace. Around that point I slowed, taking more walk breaks but promising myself to run at least half every lap. Landmarks were mentally set to designate where walking and running would occur. When I crossed the line I was done.
Post-race
From a mental standpoint, the concept of so many laps did not bother me. My daily runs more often than not are laps in my parking lot, and I've completed a few half marathons on traditional 400m tracks a few times prior – especially during the Global Pandemilovato of '20. Physically, my legs did not feel any worse than they would have after 26.2 miles. My stomach was actually doing quite alright – nausea and headache would set in within a few minutes of finishing other marathons, but not today. My buddy's advice is making me rethink my marathon strategy.As the event is ultra-marathon focused, finishers of marathon and 50K received a coin. The longer the distance, the larger the coin, with special awards for those who have invested 100+ miles with the organization. (A paver brick [!] stamped with the runner's name is awarded after 1,500 miles with the organization.) Either way, I circled back to the registration area to press my luck at burger availability. Unfortunately they were out, yet making more. While at the beginning of the race the smell of bacon and pancakes wafted onto the line, the sweet smell of success – naturally, manifest as deliciously greasy burgers – greeted us at the end.
Post-race nutriton in my car included Gatorlyte electrolytes, SiS Rego Rapid recovery, and 1.5 liters of water. I opted against the on-site showers and made the long ride home for one which was far more satisfying.

I can equip skins and have no issue doing so (rn all of my cars have the glow skin equipped) but when I load into the actual game, the skins are never on my cars. Is there something I need to do in order to get the skins to load in? I use mobile, iPad to be specific. Could that possibly be the reason they don’t load? Or is it just a game bug that the devs have yet to patch? I really want to use my skins so I hope my issue is figured out soon.

Listen, I get the reality. A normal NYCFC match attendance is half the turnout of a sold out Mets game(do they sell out?). At any rate, they didn't seem ready. I admittedly got to the game too late , right at game start actually. For a non Red Bull game, they can expect 20k. Yesterday, they had 30k. For a normal game , I am out of the car and in the Jackie Robinson Rotunda in less than 15 minutes, maybe 10. Yesterday , soooooooooo many people waited in the rain and I got in at the 30th minute. People at the gates looked confused.
I normally expect the closed eateries at both places, but it didn't seem like yesterday was the day for that. I get that the fourth level isn't gonna be open, but there were long lines for food.
And yes, it was the first Red Bull game there. I understand. But ticket sales are the metric to use.

Hi! I just wanted to drive one of my cars in single player, then my game was stuck on the loading screen. I pressed alt + F4, then launched the game again from steam. When it loaded, all my tunes were gone, but it kept my liveries and progress. I already searched the web for a possible fix, someone recommended to "verify integrity of game files" in steam, but it didn't help me. There must be a solution, I hope someone knows a way to fix this problem.

One thing my therapist said really stuck out to me - the best form of therapy for me is to play like a little kid again. Someone on the CPTSD sub told me the same thing, that they found healing by just going wild with playtime.
So far I've added regular play time at a local park after dark, bought a plush cat, remote control car, pencils and crayons, started playing UNO and Monopoly card games with my family. I kinda feel like I'm being a big kid every time I get into my car because its the type I always loved as a kid - big, loud and fast.
I took this Friday off from work and decided to make a kids day of it just for me. Roller skating is something I loved to do as a kid, so I found the closest skating rink and made the drive down. I felt a bit nervous going in - hmm, should a man in his 40's really be doing this? Screw it, I thought, and I walked up to the counter. I paid for use of the rink and skate hire. The woman at the counter was really nice about it and instructed me it's a lot like riding a bike, you never forget. Since most people are at school or work during the day, I had the rink to myself. She asked what type of music I wanted and I said 90's music - I thought it appropriate since most of my adolescence and teen years were during the 90s.
At first it felt awkward as I awkwardly crept around the rink holding onto the sides. After awhile I gained confidence and the skill to glide, circling at pace and feeling the cool air against my skin while the music and action took me back in time. It felt liberating to see and feel what I felt back then through the prism of an older and wiser head.
After that, I was a little exhausted. I'm used to exercise but not of that type. My body hurt in ways it doesn't usually! My day was just getting started though, and I decided part 2 of my day out involved bowling. Being a big kid, I felt confident I could knock a few pins over! My first effort went straight into the gutter, then the next 4 all shared the same fate. Hmm, how do I do this again? I laughed it off, even just enjoying the freedom to fail. After 5 gutter balls in a row, I finally scored - 3 pins went down! I eventually scored 68 for the first game and 111 for my second.
Pizza time for lunch. I stopped off for takeaway and bought a cheese crust pizza, took it home and nearly finished it all.
Once home, I asked my adult daughter if she wanted to watch a movie with me. She can be a big kid at times too! We bought chips, drinks, popcorn, donuts, and muffins then ventured into the cinema to watch IFS, a movie about childhood imaginary friends. It was a great movie with a good message.
What a great way to spend my Friday. I had so much fun.

This game was the single reason I bought a racing wheel. I checked on logitech's webiste and saw that it was compatible, but the way it's tuned for the game is entirely unacceptable and unusable. I have WRC and it "feels" like driving a real car. It's what I imagined Forza would also feel like. WTF is going on here? Is one of the most popular driving games on PC and Xbox not compatible with a driving setup? I'm bummed. Anyone know anything? Thank you!

I think I echo a lot of people in that the game was hugely enjoyable and something different. A bit more randomness in the placement of materials could have kept looting more interesting as from mid game onwards I was ignoring a lot of buildings, cars and containers that I knew would only have low level materials. I would have liked to have got out of the exclusion zone at the end, I don’t like that I’m supposedly stuck there now. That said, excellent game… especially for £25. If they follow this up with a second game, perhaps open world it would be amazing.

I've lost all feelings, empathy, pain. I don't feel anything anymore
I don't even know why I'm not even posting this on a fake account or whatever but I don't care. I just wanted to write this out and maybe someone can relate with me because frankly, I am just alone.
Long story short, my youth was amazing. I had friends, loved my school, loved life, and was happy. I don't ever remember not smiling. Then at 13, my parents moved countries, and my life came crumbling down. From the age of 13 onwards, I was bullied. People picked on me, threw stuff at me—you name it. I was just a sweet kid who loved nature and was kind. My parents loved me, I was happy, and the world ruined me. I was bullied, harassed, beat up. I was a poor innocent 13-year-old who came to a "new world" of bullies. It ruined me. From 13-15, I hated every second of my life, lost my smile, lost weight, lost everything. I became angry, distant, and lost myself in video games to ease the pain and suffering.
I may delete this post; I don't know why I'm typing this, but it feels good for someone to read this if anyone reads this. I was broken, hurt, and hated everything and everyone. Then, at 15, I decided enough was enough. I went all in on learning how to fight—boxing, Muay Thai, anything that could hurt people back. At 16, I became really good without being arrogant. I decided to move schools to try to finish my remaining three years of high school comfortably without hating every second. New school, same story—got picked on, fights, etc. Long story short, everyone that tried to fight me regretted that decision. I know this sounds cringe, but I'm being honest. People stopped fighting me, people stopped annoying me. Everyone stopped. I was finally at peace, you could say. I was never a bad person, never the demon I have now become. I was a sweet kid who loved life and the world hurt me. I spent those three years of high school quite comfortably; not a single person dared to annoy me. I never annoyed or bullied anyone, by the way. I only defended myself from being attacked.
I fixed my skin, fixed my hair, got a killer body, made some good money, started becoming nicer again, more myself, tried to find a girlfriend, friends, tried new activities and groups, yet no one wanted to socialize with me. The only people that ever talked to me wanted something (I come from a good family). I don't really know the flow of this message; it's just coming out of my brain, and I'm typing. I finished high school, and to this day (I'm in my 20s), I have massive problems socializing and talking to people. I'm nice, not rude, not arrogant—nothing. Girls ignore me and date the bad boys who later abuse them.
I am now in my 20s, and ever since I was 17, I've realized I feel nothing anymore. I always get into arguments with my family as they think it's fine—they say they've been bullied before, but there is only so much words can describe. I am very easily annoyed and feel terrible. Sometimes I get angry over stupid stuff like if the food cold or like someone drives too slow. Only one person in my life has ever believed my story and felt empathy for me, and that person lived a similar story to me.
I also lost most of my family. I found out they were talking behind my back, saying rude things about me and my parent and they didn't really like me and were very jealous. When I confronted them, they stopped talking to me. My parents don't understand the years of suffering I endured and the things I did to myself. I used to train and fight shadows for hours. I would punch bags so hard my skin would rip off. I'd scream so hard my throat hurt. I now feel nothing. No pain, no happiness, no empathy, nothing.
I was in a car accident recently—a drunk driver drove into me. I broke both arms and felt nothing. I felt pain, but no anger, no guilt, nothing. I've seen horrible things and felt nothing. The world has turned me cold and broken. I crave a social life, a girlfriend, someone, you know? I want someone to fix me, love me, lift me up. I want someone...
I am a good person, not a sociopath. If I ever find a girlfriend or a wife, I'd give her the world and love her to death. I would never cheat on her or anything. I know so many people who get infinite girlfriends that are stunning and treat them like shit, and the girls still love them. I am a good person deep down, but right now I am experiencing severe social rejection, and my past follows me. I now prefer to go out a night to avoid people. Seeing happy couples and friend groups makes me angry and sad. The only time I feel anything is when I drive insanely fast at night with my bike. Stupid I know. But I feel nothing. I also don’t put other people in dangers as I do it on remote roads.
I don't want this post to sound cringe or for people to make fun of me because I "bragged" about being able to fight. If you do, I'll probably delete it and this account. Admins, delete this if it's not allowed, but perhaps someone has experienced something similar to me and can help me?
