2024.05.19 12:00 Rosoll A gotcha I just ran into: adding "use server" to a file implicitly makes all exported functions async

Just got bit by some pretty confusing behaviour with server actions in NextJS, and thought I'd share in case anyone else runs into the same thing, so there's something on Google.
If you add "use server" to the top of a file, all functions exported from that file will be implicitly marked as async and changed to return promises even if they are not async functions, and even when called by functions in the same file.
How did I run into this and why is it a problem?
As described in the docs, I created a server action in a separate file with "use server" at the top. The implementation of this server action included some reasonably complex logic which needed to be called multiple times within the body of the action, so I extracted this logic out to a non-async, pure helper function in the same file. Everything works fine.
I then decide to write some unit tests for the complex logic, so I export the function to make it available in tests. I write the unit tests, and they pass. Then I fire up the app again, and it is broken - what happened?? All I did was write a (passing) unit test?
I was pretty confused, so added a bunch of console.logs and tried to figure out what was going on. I saw that somehow some of the data being processed by the action was in a Promise that seemed to have come out of nowhere. I was completely flummoxed, until I happened to remember that the previous day I'd tried to export a zod schema from a server action file for use by callers, and I'd got a runtime error that said only functions could be exported from a server action file. I tried removing the export and everything worked again.
I've no idea what goes on under the hood to make server actions work, but I guess that what was happening was my helper function was itself being converted to a second "server action", and that conversion happens at the point of definition rather than at the point of usage within a component (which is how I had intuitively expected it to be). So it could be a reasonable restriction that only server actions can be exported from a file with "use server" - but I really hope the React team come up with a less confusing way to let people know they are inadvertently creating a server action instead of a helper function.

2024.05.19 11:58 sstrawberrycherries Anyone else?

Hello. I’ve struggled with anxiety for a long time now and I’m in college currently. I don’t have social anxiety but for many other reasons I don’t have friends. I think a big part of that is that my best friend is my mom. If you’ve ever seen Gilmore girls, we’re like Rory and Loreali. We just have the exact same sense of humor, we talk for hours, and obviously she’s my mom. I love my dad as well, but it’s not the same- maybe because I’m a girl? I grew up with lots of friends but complicated and traumatic friendship breakups held me back in high school and now I’m in college. Honestly, because my mom is so amazing, it’s fucking hard to try and meet new friends (especially nowadays with social media and people being way less social anyways) because she’s like the perfect friend. Anyways, what I’m getting to is that recently I’ve been realizing how I really have no close connections outside of my mom. And this has brought a sudden urge of fear and horrible intrusive thoughts about her dying (even writing that makes me feel destroyed with grief.) I could never live without her, I just couldn’t. And I’m even thinking so far into the future like when I’ll be 60 she’ll be 90 and it just breaks my heart that we can’t grow old together and when I’m super old, she’ll be gone. I keep having horrifying thoughts about me being alone and her gone and I’m completely incapacitated. Is it normal to have these thoughts? They often make me feel very alone and unusual and I’m thinking of bringing it up to my therapist but almost even saying the words- I’m worried it will bring bad luck and it’s just so painful. I’m sorry if this is poorly written or disorganized. Thank you and would love to hear if anyone else can relate. I just feel so alone in this experience and the only person who doesn’t make me feel alone is my mom.

🔗Camo Insulated Rugged Flex Men's Jacket: Comfort, Durability & Mossy Oak Pattern

https://preview.redd.it/lqwwde0gvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf382b76ec9dd3560e9e10a00dcf6289ff1a360
My Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Duck Camo Active Jacket has been a game-changer in my hunting adventures. I've been using it for the past three hunting seasons, and it's been nothing short of amazing. The first thing that caught my attention was its durability; it's held up against some harsh weather conditions. The Rugged Flex stretch technology and elbow pleats allow for easy movement, which is crucial when I'm tracking down my prey.
One of the most impressive features is the DWR finish that provides excellent water resistance. It's kept me dry even during unexpected downpours. The Mossy Oak Bottomland camo pattern truly helps me blend in with my surroundings, making it easier to stay hidden from my quarry.
However, there are few things that could use some improvement. The loose fit means I sometimes experience a bit of wind coming up, but it's not too much of an issue. Additionally, while the zipper quality is solid, it could be slightly longer, as suggested by other reviewers.
Overall, the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Duck Camo Active Jacket has been a reliable companion on my hunts, protecting me from the elements and enabling me to focus on the task at hand. If you're in the market for a well-constructed and comfortable hunting jacket, this one should definitely be on your radar.

A couple of years ago, I purchased the Carhartt Men's Firm Duck Chore Coat for myself when I was gearing up for a cold and windy construction project. The first thing that stood out to me about this coat was its heritage-inspired design, reminiscent of the pocket watch era. As time went on, I had the opportunity to test its claims of being water-repellent and wind-resistant, and I can confirm that it lived up to my expectations, even in harsh conditions.
One significant highlight of the Carhartt Chore Coat is its corduroy collar, which has been in use since the late 1930s and has that classic, timeless look. Additionally, the rugged firm-hand duck fabric not only gives it a sturdy feel but also becomes more comfortable with time, making it a reliable piece of outerwear.
As much as I love this coat, it does have a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, the length of the sleeves can be a bit too long for some users, with some having to size down to ensure a comfortable fit. Secondly, the coat's collar could be slightly wider to provide better protection against the wind.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Firm Duck Chore Coat is the perfect choice for those who prioritize comfort, warmth, and durability in their outerwear. Its timeless design and high-quality materials make it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a reliable coat that will stand the test of time.

I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Rain Defender Relaxed Fit Hooded Shirt Jacket in Black Heather and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer in my daily life. As an avid outdoorsman, I appreciate the flexibility of this jacket - it's suitable for various weather conditions.
One thing that really stood out for me was the adjustable hood, which ensures good visibility even during a downpour. The high collar also provides additional protection against the elements.
Another highlight is its durability. The Windfighter fleece, combined with the Rain Defender finish, makes it wind and water-resistant, while its triple-stitched main seams add extra strength. Notably, there are ample pockets for all my essentials.
However, there's one issue I encountered with the hood design. It can feel awkward if worn with a cap, though a beanie or hard hat doesn't pose the same problem.
In terms of sizing, I found that the medium size fits perfectly, providing enough room for layering without compromising on comfort. The length of this jacket is another praiseworthy feature - it's just right, even without the 'tall' version.
Lastly, while it's not technically a winter jacket, I believe that with some insulation, it could be the perfect companion in winter. Overall, the Carhartt Rain Defender is a reliable go-to for various weather conditions, offering comfort, durability, and functionality.

I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Lightweight Mock-Neck Jacket and I must say, I'm quite impressed. The jacket provides excellent protection against wind and light rain, making it perfect for those chilly days when you're outdoors. It's a great piece to layer up with during mild winters.
One of the standout features of this jacket is its flexibility. Thanks to the Rugged Flex stretch technology, I can move freely without any hindrance - whether I'm running errands or engaging in some physical activity. The wind-resistant fabric ensures that my body stays warm even when there's a chill in the air.
However, there's one drawback that I've noticed - the collar. It feels a bit too large and tends to get in the way while turning my head. It would be great if Carhartt could address this issue in future models.
In terms of pocket storage, this jacket delivers as well. There are several secure zipper pockets both inside and outside, allowing me to safely stow away my essentials like tools or supplies.
Overall, the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Lightweight Mock-Neck Jacket has become a staple in my daily outdoor wear. Its lightweight design, coupled with its wind and water resistance, make it a practical choice for anyone who spends time outdoors. Despite the minor issue with the collar, I'm highly satisfied with this jacket.

🔗Carhartt Realtreed Xtra Camo Sherpa Lined Active Jacket

https://preview.redd.it/qo0me0ohvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=119c6715543338880779bc3fcf9bb6e35bebc6c9
Carhartt's Men's Super Dux Relaxed Fit Sherpa-Lined Camo Active Jacket is a warm and durable piece of outerwear that's perfect for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I recently purchased one in Mossy Oak Bottomland Camo, and I must say, it has quickly become my go-to jacket for all my outdoor adventures.
The first thing that struck me was the quality of this jacket. The 18.1-ounce, 97% nylon/3% elastane fabric feels sturdy and well-made, offering excellent wind resistance and a sprinkle of light rain protection. The Sherpa lining inside is incredibly soft and cozy, keeping me warm even on the chilliest days.
One aspect I particularly love about this jacket is its spacious interior pocket. It comfortably holds my essentials without weighing me down or restricting my movement. The secure zipper left chest pocket is another useful feature, providing an easy-to-access spot for my phone and keys while I'm out and about.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to the Carhartt Men's Super Dux Jacket that I think are worth mentioning. Firstly, the adjustable hood with a hidden drawcord and cord lock is a nice touch for safety, but I've found that it can be a bit difficult to adjust while wearing gloves. Secondly, the lack of elbow or armpit gussets means that the jacket doesn't always move with me as smoothly as I'd like, especially when reaching or lifting objects.
Despite these small issues, I'm overall very satisfied with my Carhartt Men's Super Dux Relaxed Fit Sherpa-Lined Camo Active Jacket. Its comfort, durability, and practical features make it a standout choice for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors.

🔗Carhartt Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket

https://preview.redd.it/4bdckzxhvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36a6bbe7e0c8d9b493a04c4249b5b155cca4c5fb
As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, I have to say that the Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket has been a game-changer for me. I've had this jacket for several months now and it has held up incredibly well.
What stands out the most to me about this jacket is the heavyweight cotton duck fabric. It's not only warm and durable, but it also has a nice, broken-in feel to it that makes it super comfortable to wear. The 3M Thinsulate insulation adds an extra layer of warmth without making the jacket too bulky or heavy.
One feature I really appreciate is the attached hood with low profile adjustment. On windy days, this hood helps keep me protected and warm. Plus, the cord locks make it easy to adjust the fit without having to deal with annoying drawstrings.
Another positive aspect of this jacket is the updated lower front pockets. They're now lined with brushed tricot, which makes them feel much softer and more comfortable against my skin. And when I'm out working in the cold, I love how the pen stall in the right, lower front pocket lets me keep all my essentials close at hand.
However, there is one aspect of this jacket that could use some improvement - the side pockets. They could definitely be deeper, as they don't provide enough room for storing larger items like smartphones or wallets when you're on the move.
Overall, the Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and stylish cold weather jacket. The durability and thoughtful design features make it well worth the investment, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

🔗Carhartt Super Dux Insulated Jacket for Men

https://preview.redd.it/a8870zgivc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e730e82932cb7e639a5ab1bf179935b5175c57ce
The Carhartt Men's Super Dux Relaxed Fit Insulated Jacket was my go-to for those chilly days. On my latest project in the backyard, the wind was relentless and the rain was coming down hard, but this jacket held its own. The 100-gram Thinsulate insulation kept me toasty and the Rain Defender technology ensured I stayed dry.
One of my favorite features was the Rugged Flex technology that allowed for unrestricted movement. The bi-swing shoulders and flexible elbows made reaching up high or bending over a much easier task. I never felt trapped in the jacket, even when I was getting really active. The hood was also a game-changer, able to protect my head not only from the rain but also from the wind. Plus, the detachable feature was super convenient - I could remove it on warmer days or when I needed to interact with someone face-to-face.
However, I noticed that the interior storm cuffs were loose and didn't keep out the draft as well as I'd like. And while the length was perfect for my needs, it might not suit everyone. Despite these issues, the jacket's high-quality construction, impressive warmth, and rugged design made it a reliable addition to my wardrobe for those harsh conditions.

🔗Carhartt Men's Yukon Extremes Insulated Active Jacket - Black

https://preview.redd.it/dgjxdyqivc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38aea4fb9e9855187f660b64af25d37d392586f3
Recently, I purchased the Carhartt Men's Yukon Extremes Insulated Active Jacket, and I'm quite satisfied with its performance. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, it's important for me to have a jacket that's not only durable but also well-insulated and wind-resistant. This active jacket did not disappoint.
The first thing that caught my attention when I received the jacket was the 3M Thinsulate insulation, which provides excellent warmth without feeling too bulky. I'm particularly fond of the hood design, featuring a drawcord and reflective Carhartt patch. The hood not only keeps me protected from rain and snow but also ensures visibility during nighttime activities.
However, one area where the jacket could be improved is its zipper quality. While the plastic zipper works fine, I'm more accustomed to metal zippers, which are generally more reliable and durable. In addition, the jacket can be somewhat noisy when walking due to the swishy fabric sound - not ideal for hunting purposes.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I believe the Carhartt Men's Yukon Extremes Insulated Active Jacket is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable and well-insulated winter coat. Its attractive design, variety of pockets, and comfortable fit make it a versatile option for both recreational activities and daily life. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and believe many others will be too.

🔗Carhartt Youth Canvas Insulated Hooded Jacket - Mossy Oak Country DNA

https://preview.redd.it/h1pq5j6jvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a97cea9c48e41af642305cb09c6436c6033c7afd
I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of Carhartt - especially their Camo line. That's why I decided to get this Canvas Insulated Hooded Jacket for my son. Let me tell you, it has been a game changer this hunting season!
First off, the quality is top-notch. This jacket is made with heavy-duty canvas and features triple-stitched seams. Even after several washes, it still looks brand new. The quilted flannel lining on the inside also ensures that my boy stays warm and comfortable no matter how cold it is outside.
One of my favorite features of this jacket is the hidden rib-knit cuffs. They keep his wrists toasty and make sure no wind or sleet sneaks in. Plus, the insulated front pockets are perfect for storing his hands or keeping small gear close at hand while he's out in the field.
Now, let's talk about the hood. It's full zip, so it provides ample protection against rain, snow, or even those pesky mosquitoes during summer months. And speaking of zipping, the main zipper is high quality and doesn't get stuck or catch on the fabric.
While the jacket isn't water-resistant, it does dry relatively quickly when hung up, making it easy to clean and maintain. The only downside I've noticed is that the sleeve length could be a bit longer, especially if your child is taller than average.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this Camo Canvas Insulated Hooded Jacket from Carhartt. It has everything a young hunter could want - durability, comfort, and style. If you're looking for a reliable and well-made jacket for your little outdoorsman (or outdoorswoman), look no further than this one.

🔗Carhartt Gilliam Insulated Jacket

I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Men's Black Gilliam Jacket and oh boy, it's been a game-changer for my daily life! This insulated jacket is not just about keeping you warm during winter, but also about providing you with some real protection from unwanted dampness. The DWR finish ensures that you stay dry and comfortable even when the weather takes a turn.
One thing I truly appreciate is the zipper closure feature. It's a small detail, yet it does an excellent job of keeping out the cold winds. Speaking of features, it comes with heaps of pockets - some even have protective closures. This means you can carry all your small work essentials without worrying about losing them.
Now, let's talk about the cons. Though I'm not usually bothered by minor issues, I must say the length of the sleeves could be a bit longer. It may not be a problem for everyone, but it did catch my eye.
All in all, the Gilliam Jacket has definitely earned a place in my wardrobe. Its water-repellent capabilities, the myriad of pockets, and the overall comfort it provides make it the perfect companion for these colder days. So if you're looking for a reliable work jacket that doesn't compromise on style or functionality, this one's a solid choice!

🔗Carhartt Men's Full Swing Steel Jacket in Black

https://preview.redd.it/ed4oog2kvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c64e5eca091121737bcf3d52378aee0819058f35
I've been using this Carhartt Men's Full Swing Steel Jacket for a while now, and I must say, it's been a reliable companion through the colder months. Its 3M Thinsulate insulation keeps me warm and cozy even during the harshest winters, and the DWR finish makes sure I stay dry even when caught in a rainstorm.
One of my favorite features is the detachable hood. It gives me personalized styling options depending on my mood or weather conditions. The jacket's rugged construction is also worth highlighting, as it's made of stretch ripstop for extra flexibility and freedom of movement.
However, I've experienced some issues with the zipper quality. It can sometimes get stuck or hang at every little wrinkle, which can be quite frustrating. Another minor issue is the sizing, as the jacket tends to run on the smaller side, but that's easily fixed by choosing a size larger than usual.
All in all, I'm quite satisfied with the Carhartt Men's Full Swing Steel Jacket. Its combination of style, comfort, and functionality makes it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a versatile and reliable winter jacket.

🔗Carhartt Men's Super Dux Traditional Insulated Coat (Black) - Relaxed Fit, Machine Wash

https://preview.redd.it/or65m7dkvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=223f52063a4f689bc57b66eea80b81090db51c79
I recently purchased the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Insulated Traditional Coat to stay warm during those chilly winter days. The coat's 7.75-ounce nylon fabric is treated with Rain Defender durable water-repellent finish, ensuring that I stay dry even in heavy rain. Additionally, the Wind Fighter technology effectively blocks the wind, keeping me cozy and comfortable.
One of my favorite features of this coat is the quilt-lined insulation with 100g of 3M Thinsulate, providing excellent warmth. The secure hook-and-loop right chest pocket and zipper left chest pocket are perfect for storing my essentials, while the two snap front lower pockets with side entry hand warmers keep my hands toasty. The interior hook-and-look pocket on the wearer's left side offers additional storage space.
I also appreciate the drop-tail hem, which provides extra coverage, and the adjustable hood with chin guard and hidden drawstrings, which protect me from harsh weather conditions. The rib-knit storm cuffs effectively seal out the cold, and the center-front zipper with kissing welt makes it easy for me to put on and take off the coat.
However, there are a few downsides to this coat. The side seam zippers, while providing added movement, can be a bit challenging to use at times. Additionally, the double-stitched main seam, although durable, can feel a bit stiff and may require some breaking in.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Super Dux Relaxed Fit Insulated Traditional Coat is an excellent choice for those looking for a reliable and warm coat for winter. Its unique combination of features, such as the 7.75-ounce nylon fabric with Rain Defender technology, Wind Fighter technology, and 100g of 3M Thinsulate insulation, ensures that you stay dry and warm in even the harshest weather conditions.
Although there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the stiffness of the double-stitched main seam and the occasional difficulty in using the side seam zippers, these issues do not significantly detract from the overall quality and performance of the coat. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this coat to anyone looking for a high-quality winter garment.

🔗Black Men's Rough Cut Jacket by Carhartt

https://preview.redd.it/czaf3k2lvc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcc3b43f556beb9649b5c230cd8000bbf290a97c
Carhartt's men's Rough Cut Jacket, in black, is perfect for those chilly autumn days. This heavyweight flannel piece, with a sherpa fleece lining in its body and a quilted lining on the sleeves, offers both warmth and style. The original-fit shirt-jac features handwarmer pockets and zippered ones ideal for storing your wallet or keys. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, this jacket can withstand the elements, and after years of use, you'd be hard pressed to find any significant wear and tear on it. Although it's designed primarily for breathability and not as a standalone layer for keeping warm, it pairs beautifully with fleece or down mid-layers.
However, despite its high rating, the jacket does have a few minor drawbacks. The first is that the zipper tends to get stuck, particularly near the neck area, often requiring fiddling for a few minutes. Some users also mentioned they found the arms to be slightly short, as well as the jacket being slightly stiff when new. But these issues seem to be more common with the first batch, with newer models appearing to have resolved these concerns.
In conclusion, the Carhartt men's Rough Cut Jacket is a high-quality, stylish option that provides warmth and comfort while maintaining a sleek appearance. Its wind resistance and pairing ability with other layers make it an ideal choice for fall and winter outings. And although the stiffness and the issue with the zipper might be present initially, they seem to resolve with time and use. Therefore, I would recommend this jacket to anyone seeking a reliable, durable option for their outdoor activities.

Buyer's Guide

  1. Durable Materials: Look for jackets made with heavy-duty materials such as cotton duck or polyester, ensuring they can withstand harsh hunting environments and regular wear.
  2. Insulation: Insulation is crucial for maintaining warmth and comfort in cold weather. Consider water-repellent insulation like Thinsulate™ or Quick Dry technology, which dries faster than traditional materials.
  3. Pockets and Storage: Pockets are essential for storing gear and easy access during hunts. Choose a jacket with multiple pockets (including interior and exterior), preferably with zippers or toggle closures to secure items.
  4. Ventilation: Proper ventilation helps regulate body temperature and prevent overheating. Look for jackets with vents, mesh panels, or breathable materials that allow airflow.

Considerations

  1. Weather Conditions: Consider the typical weather conditions of your hunting location. If it's usually cold and wet, opt for a waterproof and insulated jacket. For milder conditions, a lightweight jacket with good ventilation might be sufficient.
  2. Camouflage Patterns: Choose a camo pattern that blends well with the environment where you'll be hunting. Some popular options include RealTree AP, Mossy Oak, and Carhartt's proprietary camo designs.
  3. Fit and Comfort: Ensure the jacket fits well without restricting movement. Consider adjustable features such as cuffs, waistbands, and collar for added comfort and customizability.
  4. Safety Features: High visibility elements like reflective trims and bright colors can enhance your visibility and safety in low light conditions or near roads and highways.

General Advice

  1. Read Customer Reviews: Read reviews from other hunters to get valuable insights about the performance and reliability of specific Carhartt Hunting Jacket models.
  2. Invest in Quality: Although high-quality Carhartt Hunting Jackets may have a higher price tag, their durability and performance make them a worthwhile investment for serious hunters.
  3. Regular Maintenance: Clean and dry your jacket according to the manufacturer's instructions to maintain its water-repellent properties and extend its lifespan.
By considering important features, weighing relevant considerations, and following general advice, you can make an informed decision when choosing the perfect Carhartt Hunting Jacket for your unique needs and preferences.

2024.05.19 11:54 Unusual_Resource6642 AITA for telling my friend his on/off gf's abusive relationship isn't his concern?

Throwaway
I (M19) have been friends with this guy I'll call Eric (M20) for the past 2 years. We met in the fall of 2022 since we were in the same dorm at uni. Eric's is great and most people like him. Back around February/March of 2023, he started a relationship with a girl called Mia (F19). Now Mia seemed off to myself and some of my other friends, she gave off emo vibes and just seemed like a really sarcastic and rather condescending person. She didn't like us to say the least, and for whatever reason disliked me the most.
Eric would later tell us that Mia had a lot of trauma since her dad was abusive towards her and her mother and her last bf was also abusive. Because of all this, she was getting a lot of mental health treatment throughout her teen years. This was kinda an eye-opener for me and I felt terrible about judging her, so I was always very nice to her from that point onwards.
Around November of last year, Mia started seeing this other guy in our year I'll call Martin (M19). She and Eric were fighting a lot around this time and I guess she wanted out. Now Martin doesn't have a great rep at our school. His parents are very wealthy, i.e., they make enough money to cover his whole tuition in just 2 weeks of working. He lives in a luxury apartment his parents own off-campus and drives an AMG to class every day. I'm sure you get the idea. Because of this, he's spoiled rotten and goes through girls quickly.
When Mia started a relationship with Martin in December, he became abusive pretty quickly and at some point made her call Eric crying. Eric was furious about this and one thing led to another, and Eric ended up getting jumped and beaten pretty badly by some of Martin's friends. Mia would then kinda of yo-yo herself between relationships with Eric for a short time, and then some other guys. I guess you could say she's the kinda of person who always needs to be in a relationship, which according to Eric is a result of her abusive father.
About a month ago, Mia went back to Martin after her relationship with one rando fell apart. A few days ago she called Eric again crying because Martin had made her upset or something. According to Eric, he also abandoned her downtown at 2 am a few days before that.
Eric is very stressed about this and wants to do something. Though, despite how terrible Mia's situation is, I don't think he can realistically do anything and I told him as much. I told him that for his own sake, I'd recommend he start forgetting about Mia and Martin.
This upset him and some of our other friends.
AITA? I honestly don't know what I did or could have said to make the situation better...

2024.05.19 11:54 ethancyl I (17 M) caught my Dad cheating on my Mom

Caught my Dad messaging another woman while trying to fix something with his phone.
He's been messaging this girl for a long time ever since he visited Asia by himself. He said that he's going to Asia again by himself to chill on the beach and that's the story he's told me for a long time. I knew it was a lie from the beginning but never wanted to accuse him of anything. Now I know he's going to Asia in 3 days to meet this woman.
I don't know what to do. This has happened many times in the past, my dad really hasn't learned from his consequences.
I know this thing is between my parents but I feel so disrespected. Everything I do is for my parents, especially my Dad. He always says I don't show him love so I go after school to visit him at work. Work extra hard in school and my extracurriculars to make him proud. He lied to me several times. Asked him about 5 times and additional questions. Every single time he lied to me. I feel so bad for my mom too, she does a lot and I know they both have their differences but I know she doesn't deserve this.
I'm planning to have a formal conversation with him. How do I know he won't do it again? How can I forgive him? How and when should I tell my mom? I'm on a trip with him now - how should I treat him? I desperately need help and I'm extremely unhappy now.
Any response within the next hour or so would be best.
I really need help with how to lead this conversation. I would appreciate and love any advice.

2024.05.19 11:53 Seeker1904 New District Idea: The Old Quarter

The Old Quarter

Bit of a long post but I thought this could be a cool idea and I wanted to share it:
Description:
"Even before the current troubles, the Old Quarter was a favoured haunt of vagabonds, vagrants and those with ill-intent. Nestled beneath the towering estates of Cathedral Row, the streets of the Old Quarter are a twisting and cramped warren. Constructed in the early days of the city, the Old Quarter was built haphazardly to accommodate the city's rapidly expanding population.
In recent times, the Old Quarter has become downright sinister. A permanent, sleazy fog hangs over the area and residents report a strange figure peering through their window at odd hours. The Constables abandoned the district soon after the current crisis began. The Huntsmen now patrol the main street and control a few key landmarks, including the power-station and the old jailhouse. But even they are loathe to venture into the dank passages where the light never reaches.
Tread carefully here Dr. and take care if you happen to hear tapping at the window..."
Explanation:
This is an idea I have had for a while about how parts of the demo area could be reincorporated into the main-game. I think that the main-game is far superior to everything in the demo but the cramped and winding streets of the demo area are still fun to explore and the feeling of being boxed-in really helps contribute towards a feeling of claustrophobia which isn't quite present in the open-spaces of the Market District.
Instead of collecting seals to open the manor in the town square, the Dr. would need to find several puzzle items to progress. These items would open the portcullis gate on the other side of the guard post in the demo. The Sylvian estate (manor from the demo) would serve as an optional area with heightened security which could be broken into. Other side-streets, alleys and passages which were only partly accessible in the demo would also be opened-up as would several derelict buildings. This would include opening up the play-space above the flooded basement where the monocle can be found in the demo.
The Old Quarter would serve as a prelude of sorts to the Cathedral row district. After sneaking through a factory/ warehouse complex, the Dr. would enter the lift to the Old Quarter and the section would begin in much the same way that the demo opens.
Note found before entering the Old Quarter:
“Sir,
As requested, we have sealed off the main routes into the Old Quarter and have set an automated sentry to guard the entrance to Cathedral Row. I have ordered our remaining forces to fallback accordingly. Let the Huntsmen deal with those creatures.
Constable Burlington.

Upon reaching the main save station-house from the demo, the windows would be heavily barricaded and the Dr. would instead be prompted to enter through a door which hangs open. In the main room of the safe-house the gramophone plays its soothing tune. Unlike in the demo, the house is devoid of huntsmen and, much like the lighthouse, a recorded message would play from the gramophone the first time it is used to make a save.
“Welcome to the Old Quarter Doctor. Our mutual friend informed me that you might pass this way but I regret that I \cough* will be unable to greet you in person. Help yourself to any supplies you find here. You will need them for what lies ahead. Before they left, the Constables destroyed every exit and left the Huntsmen to loot the ruins. The only way out is through the gate at the end of Stonehaven Road. But the lock is a fiendish thing and not easily cracked. I had a few ideas of how to get past it before *cough*… well it hardly matters now. I have barricaded this area as best I can but don’t forget: Lock The Doors and pray you never hear tapping at the window. Fare well Doctor. I hope your luck is better than mine.*
-William the Tinker”
Exploring the house, the Dr. finds the corpse of the owner beside which sits a key. The key is used to unlock and open the two doors of the safehouse. Beside each of the doors is a button which can be used to automatically seal the doors from the inside (think the safe room in Amnesia: The Bunker).
Also scattered throughout the house are a few food items, notes and a revolver with a number of spent casings. On the upstairs landing, in the room where there is a lootable cabinet in the demo, the unbreakable door is instead locked. The reason for this can be found in William’s diary which sits on his writing desk.
“I can no longer bear to look into that mirror she gave me. Sometimes I fear that it is not only my own reflection peering back. I have locked the accursed thing away and have cast the key into the sewers with the hope that there it will remain.”
To discover more about the Tinkers Lock, which is the primary obstacle of the district, the Dr. can read other pages in the diary and notes scattered throughout the house. On William’s writing desk there also sits a map which marks key places of interest in the district.
“I sit imprisoned by a mechanism of my own making. The lock is a fiendish thing. The three-digit combination is rewritten every sixty seconds, the only way to decode the sequence is by using a Graphite Cylinder. I had a spare but the Huntsmen confiscated it and are holding it in the Old Jailhouse as evidence. I believe that brute Fitzroy means to bring me to trial, though for what crime I cannot imagine. More difficult to obtain is the key needed to access the mechanism. Father Ulfred kept a copy … but none who venture near his church return.
There may be another way to open the gate but it is so dangerous as to constitute madness. The lock draws power from the two electrical substations on either side of the district. Disabling both generators is the first step. Then, theoretically, it should be possible to disconnect the lock by severing its link to the back-up supply. To do so, one would need to brave the labyrinth of maintenance tunnels beneath the streets. All while the entire district is plunged into darkness. It is suicidal folly, but without Father Ulfred’s Key I see few other options.”
The safe house from the demo serves as a base of operations through which further expeditions can be made into the district. The basic layout of the demo remains in that the player has the freedom to tackle the objectives in any order. However the area of the district is now expanded. Example, in the dock area, there is now an apartment before crossing the bridge where the Dr. can survey the area and learn patrols from a distance. Additionally, foggy streets leading on from the Dock will take the Dr. into the Western part of the district where the Western Substation sits alongside the abandoned butchery. Similarly, beyond the power station from the demo (the Eastern Substation) are more foggy streets which lead to Father Ulfred’s Chapel and the Clearview Lodging-House.
As in the demo, the Huntsmen control the main streets, the dock, the jailhouse, the Eastern Substation and have an outpost in the maintenance tunnels/ sewers as well as at the Western Substation. But a new foe prowls the dark and misty streets where the Huntsmen fear to tread.
The Peeping-Tom.
Appearing as an abnormally tall and slender gentleman in a top hat, these strange creatures stalk the Old Quarter. The Peeping-Tom (and the Old Quarter in general) take heavy inspiration from late-Victorian Whitechapel and the Jack-The-Ripper murders. The Peeping-Tom carries a large butcher’s knife in its left hand and prowls with murderous intent. Its face is ghost white and its tattered clothes barely cover an emaciated and skeletal form.
What sets the Peeping-Tom apart from other bestial enemies is that they display a form of crude intelligence and take care to harass and terrify their prey before striking. Additionally, the Peeping-Tom is sensitive to light and will become staggered from entering a well-lit area. This includes the light generated by the Doctor’s lantern.
In combat the Peeping-Tom is very damage resistant to bullets and slashes. However, removing the top hat of the Peeping-Tom (either by shooting or slashing it) reveals a spider-like insect nestled in the skull of the creature which can be shot/stabbed to instantly kill the Peeping-Tom. Flash-grenades are particularly effective against this enemy and a single flash grenade will vaporise the puppeteering-spider and thus kill the Peeping-Tom if its hat is removed.
In general, the Peeping-Tom moves in a slow and deliberate manner akin to the Divider necromorph in Dead Space. However, if the Peeping-Tom’ss hat is removed, its movements become erratic, and its attacks are faster and inaccurate.
After being staggered by a light-source, the Peeping-Tom will flee to a darkened area before trying to stalk the Dr. once more.
Another aspect of the Peeping-Tom is that they will attempt to unnerve the Dr. by leaning around corners and tapping on the windows of buildings the Dr. has entered using their long bony fingers. While they can exhibit this behaviour if the power-stations are still active, if the power is deactivated, the Peeping-Toms expand their patrols significantly and will harass the Dr. while he is in the safehouse. The Peeping-Toms can even enter the safehouse if the doors are left open&unlocked.
A crafty Doctor could even strategically deactivate the power to enable the Peeping-Toms to thin out the hunters and make certain areas more accessible.
Other areas and notes
In traditional Imsim fashion, notes scattered throughout the district (as well as conversations between huntsmen) would also fill in the lore and backstory of events which occurred prior to the Doctor’s arrival.
For example, the armoury in the central guard house would be locked and a note attached to the door would read as follows:
“You lot are welcome to continue wasting ammunition shooting the locals but you shall no longer be using my bullets to do so. The armoury is locked until further notice. Perhaps the scarcity will encourage you to find a way out of this mess.
-Captain Fitzroy”
The sewers and passages beneath the district would also be expanded. If the substations are deactivated then the passages will be almost completely dark, thus necessitating the usage of the lantern for purposes of navigation. Like the demo, the tunnels would be populated by the Crowmen. The dark tunnels would give them ample opportunity to stalk the Doctor and lie in ambush.
In the demo, there is also a sign in the sewers which refers to the Underport. This passage would serve as a way to link the Old Quarter and Underport together. The Dr. would be able to find a key in the sewers to the room in the main safe-house which houses one of the Countess’s mirrors for later fast-traveling back to the district.
No matter which method is chosen for tackling the Tinker’s Lock, the Dr. will have to venture either into the Maintenance-Sewers or the Old Chapel. The Chapel serves as a lair of sorts for the Peeping Tom’s and several would patrol the grounds and the adjourning graveyard. Father Ulfred’s Key would sit in a crypt area beneath the Chapel. The Dr. would need to drop into the Crypt and stealth/ fight past an aggressively patrolling Peeping-Tom to open the gate to obtain the key and escape the crypt.
There would also be expanded opportunities for tackling the Jailhouse. One of the cells could house a crazed huntsmen who, upon release, attacks everything in his path (including other huntsmen) thus causing a distraction and allowing the Dr. to steal the Graphite Cylinder from the evidence locker.
No matter how they chose to do it, overcoming the Tinker’s Lock would allow the Dr. to push on from the Old Quarter and access the towering estates of Cathedral Row.
Conclusion
With the game taking heavy inspiration from Victorian London, I do think that it is only a matter of time until we get a Jack-The-Ripper inspired segment and I think that incorporating some of the spaces from the demo could be an interesting way to do this. Additionally, so much work must have gone into designing all of the spaces and passages in the demo that I think it would be a bit of a shame not to see any of that architecture in the main game.

2024.05.19 11:50 wapreck 5 Mistake that Car buyers do!

There are some points that I noticed some car buyers do when purchasing their new car! Some of these things I have personally experienced myself!

1: Sunroof

I know it totally depends on taste, and frankly, a sunroof is okay, but a panoramic sunroof is not. India is a hot climate country, and while a mini sunroof heats the cabin a bit, a panoramic sunroof doubles it to boiling point. If parked under the sun, even with the curtain on, the AC has to work twice as hard, and your fuel efficiency goes for tank. Some pros and cons of panoramic sunroof

2: Black Color

Black color is nice and all, but it isn’t cheap to maintain (scratches are easily visible). It takes all your time and money to keep it shining. I know PPF will help, but again, you are spending more. Plus, another point is heat. It absorbs a lot of heat, and the cabin gets very hot. Again, the AC needs to work twice as hard, and fuel efficiency suffers. (I have a black car) Just don’t go with Black because another person also brought it.

3: Extended Warranty and Accessories

There is no need to buy hefty price accessories from showroom that too basic one. Should Avoid! them at all costs. Many people don’t know that there is a vast difference between factory warranty and extended warranty, as covered in this article. Extended warranty never covers your whole car compared to factory warranty. You can also buy an extended warranty on the last day of the factory warranty's expiration by just paying an extra Rs 1000 (Hyundai). I don’t think it’s beneficial to pay upfront for something that starts after 3 years. On the last day, judge for yourself whether you really need it. If you have low running, you don’t need it. (Most of buyer never claim extended warranty)

4: Buying Top Model only!

Who’s buying the Nexon for 19L and the Creta for 25L? Those are some overpriced models. The top model doesn’t always mean the best; even the 2nd and 3rd top models can fulfill your needs. Buy a car model based on your needs, not desires, because you already chosen the right car that meets all your requirements. You can save money for other things like accessories and more.

5: SUV only!

People are buying tall hatchbacks in the name of SUVs. You should reconsider your decision. Today, hatchbacks come with good ground clearance. For example, the Baleno and i20 have 170mm, while the Punch has 187mm, which is enough. The Baleno and i20 also offer plenty of space, comfort, and features. True SUVs are more like the Scorpio-N.
There is also one point about Petrol/Diesel, but I’ll cover that another day. I know these opinions can be subjective, and you might not agree with me, which is okay. Instead, we can have a healthy discussion in the comment section.

2024.05.19 11:50 DelayMobile2633 Is the Keto diet good to treat diabetes?

The ketogenic diet, or keto diet for short, is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that has gained popularity as a weight loss and health improvement technique in recent years. The keto diet aims to induce a metabolic state known as ketosis, in which the body burns fat for energy rather than carbs.
Diabetes is a long-term disease that affects how the body processes blood sugar (glucose). Diabetes is classified into two types: type 1 and type 2. The body does not manufacture insulin, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels, in type 1 diabetes. The body either does not produce enough insulin or does not utilise insulin efficiently in type 2 diabetes. High blood sugar levels can result from either kind of diabetes, increasing the risk of major health problems such as heart disease, nerve damage, and blindness.
The keto diet has gained popularity as a viable treatment option for diabetics, particularly those with type 2 diabetes. However, those with diabetes should consult with their healthcare provider before beginning any new diet or fitness program, as the keto diet may not be appropriate for everyone and may have risks and downsides. In this post, we will look at the benefits and hazards of the keto diet for diabetics.
How Does the Ketogenic Diet Work?
The keto diet is intended to produce ketosis in the body. The body begins to use fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates when in ketosis. When the body does not have enough carbs to consume for energy, such as when fasting or following a low-carbohydrate diet like the keto diet, this mechanism is initiated.
On the keto diet, a person typically has to consume fewer than 50 grams of carbohydrates per day to enter ketosis. This low carbohydrate consumption forces the body to rely on fat for energy instead. The diet is heavy in fat, accounting for around 75% of daily calories, and moderate in protein, accounting for approximately 20% of daily calories.
Carbohydrates play a limited part in the keto diet, as the diet focuses on eating healthy fats and proteins instead. The concept is that by substantially limiting carbohydrate consumption, the body would enter ketosis and begin burning fat for energy. However, not all fats and proteins are created equal, and it is critical to select nutrient-dense sources to guarantee an adequate intake of crucial vitamins and minerals.
It's also worth noting that the keto diet isn't a one-size-fits-all approach, and your carbohydrate requirements may differ. Working with a healthcare practitioner to identify the optimal level of carbohydrate intake for an individual's specific needs and goals is critical.
Diabetes patients may benefit from the keto diet.
The keto diet has gained popularity as a viable treatment option for diabetics, particularly those with type 2 diabetes. According to some research, the diet may have various potential benefits for people with diabetes, including:
Improved blood sugar control: According to one small trial, the keto diet improved blood sugar control and reduced the need for diabetes medications in persons with type 2 diabetes. It is crucial to remember, however, that the keto diet is not for everyone, and blood sugar control should be closely maintained while on the diet.
Weight reduction: Because of its low carbohydrate content and the resultant shift to burning fat for energy, the keto diet may result in weight loss. Losing weight can assist improve blood sugar control and lower the risk of diabetes complications.
Reduced insulin resistance: Insulin resistance, a prevalent feature of type 2 diabetes, refers to the body's inability to utilise insulin efficiently to manage blood sugar levels. According to several studies, the keto diet may enhance insulin sensitivity and decrease insulin resistance in persons with type 2 diabetes.
More research is required to properly understand the potential benefits of the keto diet for patients with diabetes. Before beginning any new diet or fitness program, individuals with diabetes should always consult with their healthcare provider.
The risks and disadvantages of the keto diet for diabetics.
While the keto diet may have some potential benefits for diabetics, it is critical to be aware of the dangers and cons. Some potential hazards and disadvantages of the keto diet for diabetics include:
Careful monitoring and medical supervision are required: The keto diet may not be suitable for everyone, and those with diabetes should consult with a healthcare team before beginning the diet. While on the diet, blood sugar levels should be constantly checked, and medications may need to be modified.
Nutrient shortages: Because the keto diet is low in certain nutrients, like as fiber, fruits, and vegetables, it may raise the risk of nutrient deficiencies. To guarantee a proper intake of key vitamins and minerals, pick nutrient-dense sources of fat and protein, as well as a variety of non-starchy vegetables.
Difficulty sticking to the diet long-term: Due to its tight carbohydrate limitations, the keto diet can be difficult to follow to long-term. This might make it difficult to stick to the diet and can lead to feelings of deprivation or boredom due to the limited food options.
Before beginning the keto diet, it is critical to thoroughly assess the potential dangers and drawbacks for those with diabetes. It may not be appropriate for everyone, and working with a healthcare team to find the optimal treatment method for an individual's specific requirements and goals is always recommended.
Finally, the keto diet has gained popularity as a possible therapeutic option for persons with diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes. According to some research, the diet may offer various potential benefits for diabetics, including improved blood sugar control, weight loss, and lower insulin resistance. However, it is critical to be aware of the possible risks and drawbacks of the keto diet for persons with diabetes, such as the necessity for constant monitoring and medical supervision, the possibility of nutrient deficiencies, and the difficulty of adhering to the diet over time.
Before beginning any new diet or fitness program, individuals with diabetes should always consult with their healthcare provider. The keto diet may not be appropriate for everyone, and it is critical to establish whether it is a safe and appropriate treatment choice based on an individual's specific needs and goals. It is also crucial to highlight that, unless specifically prescribed by a healthcare expert, the keto diet should not be used as a substitute for proven diabetes therapies such as medicines and insulin therapy.

2024.05.19 11:49 RaidStone Star Wars Detours is better than Filoni Star Wars

I'm sure quite a lot of you might have watched the Detours episode on the Internet Archive, and honestly? It's way better than Ahsoka or Tales of the Empire. No seriously, even though it's a hit or miss rapid-fire verbal comedy show, it still has better coherent storytelling than Filoni's garbage. Maybe the art style of the show may tick you off, but don't judge a book by it's cover folks.
I love how so many Disney shills will say Detours deserved to be cancelled and will act like it's the most heinous thing George Lucas ever made, where we actually delve into more unpopular characters like Dexter Jettster, Jar Jar Binks, Lando, Boba Fett (debatable on the unpopular part considering BOBF exists) and even some of their more original characters like the two wannabe bounty hunter flies and that one anime girl in this episode. Like we don't have to see the same characters over again, so Dog Day Afternoon put the spotlight into it's other unpopular and original characters instead, proving to be a pretty decent episode, or in my honest opinion, a pretty good episode.
Throw your toy lightsabers at me all you want, but that's just me. Anyway, I love how so many of these Disney shills will act Detours is the worst Star Wars doodoo ever seen and yet will praise shit like Ahsoka. This is why we can never have good things.
Go watch the episode on the Internet Archive, and tell me what you think of it! And for all those who haven't joined the subreddit: Yo dudes, the Salt Miners are pretty chill, maybe you could like join them or something.

2024.05.19 11:48 Nancy48236 Trailmaster Milano 50 N 50cc scooter review

Trailmaster Milano 50 N 50cc scooter review
Ordering a scooter online is a bit of a risky adventure, especially when you review the terms and conditions and the return policy. But, you have to agree to it in able to place the order. Less risky is buying at a dealer, but you pay a significant premium for the product. I've read horror stories online about folks receiving junk and even non-operating scooters. That is a possiblity, and with the terms to which you agree, very risky.
We were lucky, though, with Family Go Carts (FGK) and the Trailmaster Milano N 50cc scooters.
I ordered, online, two Trailmaster Milano N 50cc scooters from FGK - one for me, one for my husband - on May 1,2024. We received the scooters on 5/18/2024. Considering US shipping demand, that is a reasonable time to delivery. The lady at FGK who called me to coordinate the delivery was kind, and gave instructions on how to receive and prepare for the first run (ie. Change oil - upon arrival, the engine has shipping oil in it).
Shipping: "Free", but you have to pay access fee and lift-gate fee. Not too bad considering how shipping rates have skyrocketed in the last few years.
She asked for our second choice in colors. Thankfully, we got our first choice - light blue and white for me and black and white for my husband.
Unpackaging: Remove cardboard (there's no bottom to the cardboard). Just cut down the cardboard at any one of the corners, then walk around the steel skeleton shipping cage. Then you'll take off the top of the steel shipping skeleton. Undo all bolts and nuts on the bottom. You'll a;sp have to undo the two bolts on the top that attack the steering column fork to the steel cage. Then, just tip off the cage on one end, and continue tipping it off to the other end.
Assembly: No instructions for it. Some assembly is a no-brainer, but the handlebars and front wheel require explanation. Thankfully, someone posted a video on the assembly of Trailmaster Milano: https://youtu.be/rMyJEkH3b4U?si=VRcDlm2-jIvNNGfC , I couldn't have done it without that video.
Handlebar assembly: First, just get the bolt in - front to back, with the curvey part of the washer against the column and between the column and the bolt head. Notice you can't get to the nut on the backside (unless you have 6" fingers of a contortionist). Don't worry like I did. Get the bolt in, assemble the front wheel, then come back the the handlebar column. Turn the bars far to one side. Now you can reach the backside of the bolt and add the nut. We added blue Loctite to the axle and the steering column/handlebar threads for the nuts.
Make sure you connect the blinkers. Trial and error to get left blinker coordinating with left blinker connector. Two trials if unlucky - not too bad.
You'll still have one bod-based connector without a mate. Again, don't worry like I did - that's for the headlight. You'll assemble that later.
Front wheel assembly: The front wheel assembly is best with two people. First goal is to get the scooter out of the steel shipping skeleton and on flat ground so you can support the scooter on its center stand.
Get the scooter out of the steel shipping skeleton. This will require some muscle and two persons. Remove the front axle bolt that holds the scooter to the bottom part of the steel shipping skeleton. One straddles the scooter while keeping the front lifted up)shaking up and down) while the other removes the bolt axle. Once the bolt axle is removed, with muscles, one straddles the scooter while keeping the front lifted up and carefully walking through the steel cage bottom while the other person pushes from behind. Then, get the scooter center stand down so the scooter rests on that on flat, solid ground. We ended up balancing the frame of the scooter on a block of wood, then putting the center stand down.
Now, work on the front wheel. Slip the silver, stainless axle bolt spacer into the wheel's disc side. It's frustrating getting the wheel on because you have to get the brake disc lined up with the brake pads (remove the pad spacer put in for shipping and toss it) and the speedometer on the other side correctly lined up with the wheel and fork, ALL that simultaneously while getting it lined up to insert the axle. Fun times! You may end up with assembly partners snapping at each other and swearing - a lot. Persistence and patience and it will get done. Add blue Loctite for final tightening on the axle nut.
Oil change: Drain out all the shipping oil. There's a lot in there. After draining, we added about two cups of 15W40.
Headlight and front cowl assembly: Connect the headlight to the body's headlight connector. Use the included zip ties to secure all the wires out of the way and neatly, without putting too much strain on any connections. Make sure you put the U-shaped, color matched plastic cover (in horizontal plane) separating the handlebars speedometer instruments from the front cowl. Snap it into the tabs. THEN, attach the front headlight cowl to the body. Don't do like I did - get the headlight front cowl section on then try to snap in the cover. I had to remove the headlight front cowl, snap in the color-matched cover, then re-attach the front headlight cowl.
Topcase/trunk: Best with two persons, but can be done with one. Big enough for a half helmet, gloves, goggles, wallet, and other little things. Looks good on the scooter, too.
Battery installation: This can be tricky. You have to have a sqare nut below the terminal screw. If you put the battery in the scooter and try to get those nuts under the terminal, you won't be able to do it. If you just try to balance the square nuts on the battery while dropping the batter into the scooter's battery compartment, the square nuts fall off. We then secured the nuts to the batter with the terminal screw only half-turned. Then drop the battery in and complete connections. First, connect the black, then connect the red. The batteries we received were fully charged.
Moment of truth: Put premium gas in the tank. Since the carburetor is empty, you'll have to let the starter work a bit to get gas flowing into the engine. Didn't even take three minutes. Started right up. Whew. Let it run for a while.
One sees many horror stories about buying Chinese scooters online from dealers. And, those stories are bad. As I said above, you have to agree to the terms and conditions before you can buy. Those terms and conditions put all the risk on the buyer, not the dealer. So, know what you're getting into.
But, thankfully, FGK did well. We received both Trailmaster Milano N 50 scooters in a timely manner, without damage, and the scooters fired up right away. Good idle speed and it sounds like the aifuel mix is spot on.
Finally, registration of your scooter in your state: My state, Virginia, requires registration of 50cc scooters so you can display a license tag on the back. To register, you need a title. You don't get a title from this dealer. But, you get enough documentation from the dealer (manufacturer's transper document, invoice, bill of lading) where you can fill out an easy affidavit for title. Get it notarized and submit with your title application and registration. Pretty easy and far easier and quicker than waiting for the dealer to do it for you, IF the dealer is willing to do it for you, that is. I didn't even ask FGK for a title transfer document, so I can't comment on their responsiveness to such a request. I did the easy work-around at the DMV.
So far, so good. I've gotten it up to 32 MPH (speedo reading, not GPS-confirmed), and that wasn't at full throttle. I'm still being careful with getting to full throttle until the engine has a bit of time to break in.
I am aware that we will have to wrench these scooters from time to time. Thanks to so many videos available online about how to work on the 139QMB GY6 50cc engines, I think we can do this.

2024.05.19 11:48 sunflower99_ AITA for holding grudges against ppl who hurt my gf?

My (25F) gf and I (24NB) were planning on having a birthday party for the both of us, since they're only days apart and I'm going to be visiting her (we are long distance) for the week. The ppl invited are just her friends whom I get along pretty well. The issue came around later when she asked me if she could invite another friend.
I don't like this friend bc of some stuff he did and said. Without giving away too much, he treated her badly for the sake of "humor" to the point other friends asked her why she would let him treat her like that. They fought and fell apart last year and then at the beginning of this one he asked her to reconnect. He apologized but told her that he was just waiting for her to reach out (cause she used to do that every time). At the end, she told him that they couldn't go back to what they were, but they could see how things go. She asked for my opinion and I told her that I wouldn't trust him, but that it was her choice. This doesn't mean I don't have my own thoughts about it. He was immature and hurt her. She was dealing with a lot of intrusive thoughts and had depressive episodes after all went down.
She told me she wouldn't want to hang out with him just the two of them like before, but that she wouldn't avoid him if he happen to be in the same place. Now she asked me how I would feel if we invite him. I don't like him and I would rather not see him, if it can be avoided. I wouldn't have said anything if it was just her party bc she has the right to invite whoever she wants, but since it was a celebration for the both of us and she asked, I was honest. This didn't sit right with her.
We argued and she told me she wanted to invite him anyways, and if I didn't want him there, we should do separate parties so she can invite him to hers. Under normal circumstances, that would've been fine. But as I established before, we are long distance. None of my friends are going to celebrate with me there, so I think the idea is dumb; the only person who's not going to be invited to mine is him, the rest of the guests would be the same!
I didn't like the fact that she asked me like I had a choice at all, because at the end it was either we invite him or you make your own party, but I can compromise on it. I told her it was fine. I'm not going to fill the room with negative energy just bc of this, and the things he did are not unforgivable crimes. He's just a bad friend.
What has been bothering me now is that aftwards, she told me that it doesn't make sense that I would hold a grudge towards the ppl that are in her life.
I had issues with friends in the past and exes that were toxic, and the ppl around me despise them. These problems are none of their business, I know, but isn't it normal to hate them if they hurt me? I asked her what does she think about those ppl, and she told me she doesn't have any kind of resentment towards them bc is not her place.
So, AITA?

2024.05.19 11:46 SonofHades265 A good idea for mutations

So we have only one day left with mutations and I think most of us are glad to see them go and I can see why. But there is a lot of potential for it . Right now the 2 main complaints for mutations are that the Modes you can play them in are worth trophies and because not all brawlers have mutations some brawlers are close to unplayable Im mutated modes so how to kill 2 birds with one stone? Two words- MAP MAKER!! It’s no secret that map maker is a mere ghost of what it used to be and it is definitely struggling so how about mutations can be added back as in map maker and if supercell doesn’t want it to be compulsory they can make it a modifier this way mutations can stay in the game they have more time to add more mutations there won’t be any risk to playing them and map maker can make a revival

2024.05.19 11:46 tinkxskywalker [Sun care] Sunscreen with makeup & what’s best for pale girlies?

i’ve become obsessed with wanting to prolong wrinkles, and not get skin cancer (good obsession to have if you ask me) so i apply sunscreen every day of the year. i do wear makeup though sometimes and i’m looking for a good sunscreen that doesn’t mess with skincare/makeup and is good for oily skin, and i’m also wondering how it’s supposed to be applied throughout the day after i’ve put makeup on?
also, i don’t burn or tan, i usually stay the same unless i haven’t put sunscreen on and have been outside for a long time then i will burn but i’ve never had mega bad sunburn tbh. i THINK i have the capability to tan the tiniest bit (if i’ve been in the sun for weeks and obviously wear sunscreen lol) as i have come home from holidays with the tiniest bit or colour sometimes, so i don’t want to prevent the tiniest bit of tan i get, so what’s a good sunscreen for me, both for body and face? one that actually absorbs and doesn’t feel too sticky because that drives my crazy when my clothes and hair cling to me! i’ve been using SPF15 and just applying regularly but wondering if i should go up? the only reason i’m using 15 is that’s all that’s in my house currently.
side note, it’s crazy how many people aren’t educated on this in terms of aging and cancer. my friends that tan easily and remain somewhat tanned year round swear they don’t need sunscreen because they hardly burn, so they think that means they won’t get skin cancer and won’t get wrinkles?! i try inform them but they don’t listen so, guess I’ll just look after myself haha

2024.05.19 11:44 Professional-Sun5599 How to advocate for ME/CFS in a nation that doesn’t have any NGOs, advocacy or research groups working on it, like in India?

I am a 19y/o male living in India suffering from moderate ME/CFS for the past 8 months. There are no specialists in the country and it produces negligible research on the condition. Doctors routinely prescribe GET-CBT-antidepressants as treatment options. I am positive that there are many thousands of people lying in bed undiagnosed.
How can I do my bit to raise awareness in my society when almost nobody healthy and capable knows or cares about it? Western countries at-least have a few large advocacy groups and research universities working on the disease. India barely has anything.
P.S. Just so you have an idea of how bad it is. Disability pension schemes in the country seem to pay Rs 1000-Rs 2500 per month, which, drum-roll please, amounts to anywhere between 15-30$ a month. Though I am not an expert on this and I might be reading the laws wrong. Anyways, I doubt they would let anyone with CFS qualify for it.

2024.05.19 11:41 Ok-Future-5257 Justifying Elisha's Bears

"And [Elijah] went up from [Jericho] unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth [young men] out of the city, and mocked him, and [jeered] unto him, 'Go up [out of here], thou bald head; go up [out of here], thou bald head.' And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two [youth] of them" (KJV 2nd Kings 2:23-24).
If Elisha WAS bald, that doesn't mean he was old. He could have been in his 20s or 30s, pronouncing a curse on young adult men.
Given the context of Israelite culture, it's quite possible that Elisha had shaved his head in mourning. If so, then the young men were mocking his grief.
There's a strong possibility that these young men had long been adherents of Baal's paganism, or Jeroboam's idolatry. Harassing Elisha may have simply been the final straw.
"...the fact that the bears mauled 42 of the youths indicates that there were more than 42 youths involved. This was not a small group of children making fun of a bald man. Rather, it was a large demonstration of young men who assembled for the purpose of mocking a prophet of God" (https://www.gotquestions.org/Elisha-baldhead.html).
Centuries earlier, the Lord had warned Israel, "And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate" (Leviticus 26:21-22).
Maybe it's not a coincidence that Elijah was described as a "hairy man" in the previous chapter.
On a website, Daniel Hoffman wrote, "Established as the new prophet, Elisha begins his ministry both with a sign of blessing (healing Jericho’s water) and then of judgment (the bears). So in this general sense, the curse/blessing serve to establish Elisha’s office and endowment. ...As Elijah’s successor, Elisha’s own power and authority was now up for testing. The youths’ taunt, if we can paraphrase it, was something like, 'Hey, your [hairy] master is gone, how powerful are you now without him? Why don’t you "go up" like he did?' The verb 'go up' (עלה) after all is the same word used to Elijah’s ascension (2 Kings 2:1). ...The disturbing act of judgment through Elisha was a warning, and God was patient to give Israel many more decades before they were destroyed and scattered completely by the Assyrians" (https://knowingscripture.com/articles/elisha-and-the-bears-2-kings-2-23-25#1).

Carhartt Packable Water-Resistant Duffel Bag with Utility Pouch

I recently got the chance to own and use this Carhartt Canvas Packable Duffel with Pouch for my daily commutes and weekend trips. It's a game-changer! The bag is made of 500D polyester, which has been treated with Rain Defender, a durable water repellent (DWR). This means I don't have to worry about my stuff getting ruined in case of rain. One of the things I love about this duffel is its spacious main compartment. I can fit all my work clothes and shoes easily. The dual webbing haul handles also make it really comfortable to carry around.
However, there's a catch - the exterior slash pocket. It's a bit too tight for my liking and it tends to get stuck when trying to put something bigger inside. Another thing that caught my attention was the adjustable shoulder strap. While it's a great feature, I found it a bit too long, even when adjusted to its shortest length.
Despite these minor setbacks, I still believe this duffel is worth every penny. Its water-resistant feature is a real lifesaver during gloomy days, and its sturdy construction ensures that it'll last for a long time. Plus, the bonus utility pouch is really handy for keeping smaller items organized!

Water Repellent Carhartt Duffel Bag with Utility Stash Pouch

I recently purchased the Carhartt Lightweight Duffel and Utility Stash Pouch in black, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my daily commute. The polyester material not only feels durable but also looks sleek and stylish. One of my favorite features is the removable and adjustable shoulder strap that comes with a comfortable pad, making it effortless to carry around.
The main interior compartment with a zipper ensures all my essentials are securely stored, while the exterior zippered pocket provides easy access to my smaller items like keys and wallet. What truly sets this duffel apart from others is the foldable utility pouch inside, perfect for keeping my gym wear separate from my work belongings.
The water-repellent coating gives me peace of mind knowing my belongings will stay dry even in unexpected rain. Plus, the iconic "Carhartt" logo adds a touch of class to this versatile bag.
However, one minor drawback is the limited color options available. I was hoping for a wider range of choices to match my personal style more accurately. So, if you're looking for a high-quality, durable duffel bag with an integrated utility pouch, the Carhartt Lightweight Duffel is definitely worth considering.

Carhartt Classic Durable Water-Resistant Duffel Bag (Gray)

As a reviewer who's been using the Carhartt 55L Classic Duffel in my daily life, I can attest to its durability and flexibility. The Rain Defender water-repellent finish on this heavy-duty 1200-Denier polyester bag has kept all my belongings safe in even the toughest of weather conditions. One of my favorite features is the large main compartment that allows me to carry everything from my camping gear to tools on the job. The top and side haul handles, along with the removable, adjustable shoulder strap, make it incredibly easy to carry around wherever I go.
One downside I noticed is that the bag's interior seems slightly smaller than expected. It does manage to store plenty of items but with less organization than some other duffels I've used due to the lack of additional pockets other than a single zippered one.
However, the overall design comfort and visual appeal make up for this minor inconvenience. The grey color adds a touch of sophistication while still maintaining that rugged look characteristic of Carhartt products. Plus, the lifetime warranty provided gives me peace of mind knowing my investment will last for years to come.
So, whether you're an avid camper or just need a reliable bag for daily use, the Carhartt 55L Classic Duffel is definitely worth considering. Its blend of style, functionality, and durability won't disappoint.

Carhartt Classic Laptop Backpack

I've been using the Carhartt Classic 21L Laptop Backpack for a few months now, and I must say, it has become an essential part of my daily routine. This backpack is not only stylish but also incredibly functional, with features that make it a must-have for anyone on the go.
The main compartment is large enough to hold everything I need for a day out, including my 15-inch laptop, textbooks, and even a small lunch box. The padded shoulder straps provide comfort, making it easy to carry around without any strain.
One thing that really stands out about this backpack is its durability. The 600-denier polyester fabric, combined with the Rain Defender Water Repellent coating, ensures that my belongings stay safe and dry, even in the toughest weather conditions.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks that I've noticed. The lack of additional compartments can make it difficult to organize smaller items like pens and pencils. Additionally, the backpack tends to be on the heavier side, which may not be ideal for those who prefer lighter options.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Classic 21L Laptop Backpack is a solid choice for anyone in need of a functional and stylish backpack. Its large capacity, comfortable design, and impressive weather resistance make it a worthwhile investment. While it may not be perfect, the pros far outweigh the cons, making this an excellent choice for daily use.

Sleek and Durable Black Essentials Duffel Bag by Carhartt WIP

https://preview.redd.it/ke785xptsc1d1.jpg?width=533&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c03b485dfe57f7418dd2ee6677ba8947218bdb0
Carhartt WIP's Black Essentials Bag has been a game-changer in my daily life. As a guy who loves to travel light, this versatile bag offers so much more than just space for my essentials. The recycled polyester canvas is not only eco-friendly but also water-repellent, which is a must-have feature for someone living in a city with unpredictable weather like me.
You know how it is when you need to quickly grab your keys, wallet, phone, and other daily necessities on your way out - well, this bag has two main openings that fasten with a two-way zipper, making access easy as pie. Plus, the adjustable shoulder strap makes it comfortable to carry around and adds an extra layer of convenience.
The Carhartt Essentials Bag also comes with a smaller velcro pocket on the front and another small zipped pocket, perfect for storing smaller items like business cards or headphones. At 17 x 16.5 x 6 cm, it's the perfect size for carrying essentials conveniently and comfortably.
One thing that really impresses me about this bag is its durability. Despite its compact size, it can withstand daily wear and tear without showing any signs of damage. It's a quality product made in China, combining style and functionality to meet the needs of every modern man.
The only downside to this bag, in my opinion, is the price tag. It's not exactly cheap, but considering the high quality and longevity of the material, I think it's worth the investment. All in all, the Carhartt WIP Essentials Bag gets a solid thumbs-up from me.

Carhartt Black Legacy Cross Body Gear Organizer for Men

https://preview.redd.it/0pmeqpeusc1d1.jpg?width=489&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3a545bc4c0b1a75cc3621d53e6992574630150f
In my quest for the ultimate organization solution, I stumbled upon Carhartt's Black Legacy Cross Body Gear Organizer. As an avid user of different types of gear, I can confidently say that this crossbody bag has been a game-changer in my daily life. One of the standout features for me is the adjustable shoulder strap - offering both convenience and versatility without compromising on comfort.
The main compartment houses two slash pockets and five elastic loops, which are perfect for storing and accessing essential tools effortlessly. However, one minor drawback is the single zipper, making it difficult to open the bag without causing the sides to open as well. Another highlight worth mentioning is the front compartment, featuring a slash pocket and an ingenious key fob that prevents me from losing those elusive keys.

Over the past few weeks, I've relied heavily on this organizer for work and leisure, and it has shown no signs of wear and tear - a testament to its impeccable craftsmanship.
In conclusion, the Carhartt Black Legacy Cross Body Gear Organizer provides a convenient storage solution for anyone who needs a reliable and compact tool for organizing their gear. Carhartt Heavy Duty Water-Resistant Gear Bag - 23

I recently received the Carhartt Legacy 23" Gear Bag in black, and I must say, I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance. At first glance, this bag might seem like your average gear bag, but once you start using it, you'll realize that it's so much more.
Firstly, the durability of this bag is outstanding. Constructed from 1200D poly, it's designed to withstand even the toughest of conditions. The Rain Defender Durable Water Repellent and Duraux abrasion-resistant base mean that my stuff stays safe and dry no matter what the weather throws at me.
The main compartment is deceptively spacious. I initially thought this would be a standard tool bag, but it turns out to be a versatile gear bag, perfect for travelling or organizing everyday items. The top and side haul handles, combined with the removable/adjustable padded shoulder strap, make it incredibly comfortable to carry, even when full.
However, there are some minor downsides to this bag. For starters, the storage options inside the bag are a little inconvenient. There's only one small interior pocket, which isn't very useful for organizing smaller items. Additionally, some users might find the size of the bag a bit too small for their needs.
But overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The Carhartt Legacy 23" Gear Bag is a well-made, high-capacity bag that's as tough as they come. If you're in the market for a reliable gear bag, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Carhartt Medium Duffel and Utility Pouch

I recently got my hands on the Carhartt Black Trade Series Medium Duffel and Utility Pouch, and I must say, it has been an absolute game-changer. The large zippered opening into the main compartment has made packing and accessing my stuff super easy. The exterior slash pocket is perfect for keeping my essentials within quick reach.
One of my favorite features is the included reusable tool pouch, which I use to store various small hand tools. It's a nice touch that adds extra utility to an already versatile bag. The removable adjustable shoulder strap with pad provides comfort and convenience during those long hauls.
However, there are some downsides. While the bag is spacious, it could stand to be a bit more organized with some internal compartments. Additionally, it may not be the best option for those looking for a lightweight, minimalistic bag.
All in all, the Carhartt Black Trade Series Medium Duffel and Utility Pouch is a reliable and durable choice for anyone in need of a versatile bag for work, travel, or sports. Just remember to pack light and keep an eye on the size if you're planning on using it as a carry-on for flights.

2024.05.19 11:40 hellarick Everything thing you need to know about the FFIE current state By Chat 4o

The situation with FFIE (Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc.) you described is a classic example of a potential short squeeze. Here’s a detailed analysis and my opinion on this:

Analysis and Opinion

Low Float, High Volume, and High Short Interest:
Recent Price Movements: - The dramatic increase from $0.03 to $3.40, followed by a fallback to $1.13, suggests high volatility and speculative trading. This kind of price movement often attracts momentum traders and can lead to a short squeeze, especially if a coordinated group is trying to push the price higher.
Bear Trap or Short Ladder Attack: (Which did not happen on Friday that was a short ladder) - Bear Trap: This is a situation where the stock's price is pushed lower to trap bearish investors, who then cover their shorts, driving the price back up.

Short Sellers Covering Positions

When Will Short Sellers Cover?: - Margin Calls: If the stock price rises significantly, short sellers may receive margin calls from their brokers, requiring them to deposit more funds or cover their short positions.
How Long Can They Last?: - Depends on Capital: The ability to hold short positions depends on the capital available to meet margin requirements. Larger funds may withstand more extended periods of unfavorable price movements.

Factors That Could Force Short Covering

Cost to Hold: - Borrowing Fees: Short sellers must pay borrowing fees to maintain their positions, which can become expensive, especially if the stock is hard to borrow due to high demand. - Interest Rates: The cost of borrowing shares may increase over time, adding pressure on short sellers to cover their positions.
Inevitable Forces: - Regulatory Changes: Any new regulations or broker restrictions on short selling could force short sellers to cover their positions. - Positive Catalysts: Any positive news or catalysts (e.g., strong earnings, favorable industry developments) can drive the stock price up, forcing short sellers to cover.

Conclusion

FFIE's situation is highly volatile and speculative, driven by the dynamics of low float, high volume, and extremely high short interest. While the potential for a significant short squeeze exists, it is also a risky scenario with high price volatility.
Short sellers will have to start covering their positions if the stock price continues to rise, leading to margin calls or excessive borrowing costs. However, the exact timing and duration depend on market conditions, the strength of the rally, and the financial resilience of the short sellers.
Given the high risk and potential for rapid price movements, careful monitoring and a well-defined risk management strategy are crucial for trading in such scenarios.

2024.05.19 11:40 AgentInteresting4442 I think my partner could be cheating on me what do i do??

For some context, my partner and I have been together for two and a half years now. Before this i have never considered that my partner might cheat on me, but recently ive been worried.
It all started when my girlfriend made a new friend, we will call her B. B and my partner became close very quickly, and it took B no time at all to decide she didn’t like me due to differing political views and me not liking a certain celebrity that she adores, ( I have never even met B so i’m not sure why she decided to dislike me after this) and she actually ended up telling my partner that she thinks i am stupid for my opinions. She has said other nasty things about me as well.
I expressed to my partner that this hurt me and made me feel uncomfortable, and she said she would she would set a boundary with B. Well fast forward a few weeks, things blow over and my partner and I get over this situation, but I express to my partner that I do not want to meet B due to the things she said about me, because I know I will not get along with her and I didn’t want to make things awkward between my partner and her friend.
I deeply regret that choice now. My partner and B start spending more time together, and eventually my partner and I get into another argument because throughout my two and a half year relationship with my partner, i have not been able to get her to try anything new with me, even something as simple as watching a movie I suggest.. but she will do all this stuff with B. If B suggests a show or a movie? They’re going to have a sleep over and binge watch it. A spontaneous road trip? you bet. Going clubbing? Getting drunk and making lava cake?? Sure why not! But i can’t even get my partner to watch a new movie with me. This argument is never really resolved but it blows over regardless.
Fast towards a few weeks later to current day. My partner has been really sketchy about her phone recently, she used to not care if i picked it up but recently she will snatch her phone away if she even thinks im going to touch it. She also keeps bringing up how she would never cheat on me, has never wanted to, has not even thought about it. She even told me if i got drunk and cheated on her she would understand and give me a second chance because things happen. She’s also grown pretty distant as of late, but goes to hangout with B a few times a week. And she told me today while staying over at B’s, B tried to cuddle her in her sleep.
Another thing that has been making me suspicious that my partner is cheating is we haven’t had sex in 8 months, which is 100% my fault. I’ve been coming to terms with the fact that I am an SA victim and as of now the thought of sex makes me feel so disgusting and violated I haven’t been able to even think about it. My partner has been very honest that she understands but feels like our relationship is lacking intimacy because of that. that is what makes me confused on if i’m being insecure and paranoid, or if i should actually be worried.
Should i be suspicious?? and if i am valid in feeling suspicious what do i do? ask her directly? find a way to go through her phone?? I don’t know what to do or what to think.

2024.05.19 11:39 igozoom9 Serious Question- Reservation Does Not Guarantee a Car Will Be Available?

I'm asking this question because I really want to understand. In another post a few days ago, an Enterprise Employee said "A reservation does not guarantee a car will be available". The more I thought about it, the most questions I had.
I do understand that the business model for most rental agencies is to have as close to 100% of their vehicles rented out 100% of the time. It seems like the most logical way to do that would be to overbook to account for no shows, much like airlines do. Is that the way it works?
So even with a reservation, there's no way to know for sure until I get there if you'll have a car for me. I get that reservation system is how you plan, etc. I'm just curious how often does someone with a reservation come in and you don't have a car to rent them?
If a reservation doesn't guarantee me a car, what can I do to increase the odds in my favor? Or is there anything I can do? With this new knowledge, it seemed like a smart idea to have a backup plan. So I reserved a car for pickup an hour later at the AVIS located about two miles away. But then I start wondering if that makes me an a-hole for having two reservations just in case....
I haven't needed to rent a car in over a decade and it's a little confusing.
