2024.05.14 08:02 hyvarjus Goldco Pros and Cons

I've been researching different companies for investing in precious metals, and Goldco keeps coming up as a top choice. I thought I'd share a balanced view of the pros and cons to help anyone else who's considering them. If you have any personal experiences or additional insights, feel free to chime in!
Pros:
  1. Exceptional Customer Service: Goldco is known for its white-glove service. From the moment you reach out, you're guided through the entire process, whether it's setting up a gold IRA or making a direct purchase. Their specialists are super helpful and make the experience smooth and stress-free.
  2. Educational Resources: They provide a wealth of information, including a comprehensive Wealth Protection Kit. This is great if you're new to precious metals investing or just want to learn more. Plus, you can get advice through phone, email, or chat.
  3. Trust and Reliability: Goldco has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and a Triple A rating from the Business Consumer Alliance (BCA). They've also won multiple industry awards, including being a five-time winner of the INC 5000.
  4. Special Promotions: They often have promotions that can add value to your investment. For example, they might reimburse IRA fees or offer a percentage of your transaction back in free silver.
  5. Buyback Program: Goldco offers a robust buyback program, which means you can sell your metals back to them at competitive prices. This provides peace of mind and flexibility if you need to liquidate your assets.
Cons:
  1. High Minimum Investment: To start a gold IRA with Goldco, you need a minimum of $25,000. This might be a barrier if you're not ready to invest that much upfront.
  2. Limited Online Transactions: Unlike some competitors, Goldco does not complete transactions online. This means more phone calls and paperwork, which can be inconvenient for those who prefer online handling.
Overall Impression:
Goldco seems to be a solid choice if you're looking for a reputable company to invest in precious metals. Their customer service and educational resources are top-notch, and they have a strong track record in the industry. However, the high minimum investment and lack of online transaction options might be a downside for some.

2024.05.14 07:51 StatisticianGreat514 CMV: Now that Conservatives are trashing MLK after many years of supporting him, I think it's time for them to admit that they never really liked him the first place.

Caution: Long Post
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is without doubt and still is to this day one of the most influential, powerful, and iconic figures in American history due to his steadfast and nonviolent commitment in the fight for Civil Rights, Equality, and Justice during Jim Crow Segregation in the United States. The highlight of his career as an activist came in 1963 in which he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in front of Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in which he envisioned a nation in which his children will be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. This resulted in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to be passed. Even after his assassination in 1968, his legacy inspired many similar Civil Rights Movements around the world.
Today, Martin Luther King, Jr. is hailed by both sides of the American political sphere as a beacon of hope on how to fight for justice and equality for all during turbulent times. But it's the Conservatives who constantly claim that they truly support him and follow his dream, especially in modern times and they've expressed it in a rather whitewashed and partisan fashion. The most obvious being their use of his "I Have a Dream" speech by quoting the one line that has often been cherry-picked and misinterpreted quite a lot in which they judge people not by skin but by their character. The main reason they do this is to give them the appearance that they are colorblind as their way of opposing racism. And in doing so, they consistently criticize Liberals of trying to divide the country into special interest groups and promote favoritism. As a result, they always claim that Dr. King is a Republican, let alone would've been one in this era given his views, along with the fact that he was a Christian. His niece, Alveda King even emphasized it herself.
Some of the ways that Conservatives try to supposedly live up to Dr. King's "colorblind" dream is by opposing supposed "Wokeness", Critical Race Theory, and the practice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion everywhere. They also express it by opposing Affirmative Action and the use of racial quotas when it comes to applying for schools, universities, and jobs because they believe it causes Reverse Discrimination. In terms of nonviolence, Conservatives express their disapproval of the Black Lives Matter movement. On the basis of Christianity, Conservatives believe that Dr. King supported a fixed moral code as indicated in his Letters from Birmingham Jail since he led with love and not racial hatred by changing the lives of people and not the laws itself, along with the notion of self-sufficiency. Seeing all this, it seems like Conservatives are really desperate to prove how much America has progressed in this post-racial world in order to debunk accusations that it isn't a racist country and that's why they always prop up Dr. King by claiming that they follow his dream and will continue to do so. Well.....up until now.
During this year's Martin Luther King Day, a string of prominent Conservative activists and organizations suddenly turned on him. Starting off with Charlie Kirk of the youth Conservative movement Turning Point USA, who launched a blistering anti-MLK campaign in which he supposedly dispelled the alleged myths surrounding his popularity. He accused Dr. King of being a "bad person" and that his "sainthood will cause Black voters to realize it's being used against them to suppress the individual." He even went further by stating that "we made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s" accusing it as "a way to get rid of the First Amendment". A while ago, the organization marketed the Conservative image of Dr. King when they sold $55 T-Shirts with his name as well as stickers of him with the words "Let Freedom Ring". Kirk was later joined by the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh who accused him of being a "communist". In fact, he railed against Dr. King a few years ago by accusing him of being a Womanizer, Adulterer, Plagiarizer, etc. Coming after Walsh was Human Events editor, conspiracy theorist, and fellow Turning Point USA alumna Jack Posobiec, who labeled Dr. King "a God of the Left" and stating that "the real legacy of the 1960s was enshrining Racial Discrimination and Race Consciousness into the Federal Bureaucracy." And finally, a popular Conservative Twitter account called "EndWokeness" called Dr. King "a Racial Marxist" because he "did not support a Colorblind Meritocracy" after it cited his quote on Wealth Distribution. What's even worse is that even non-White Conservatives hate him. Two examples include a commentator named Vince Everett Ellison and former football player and sports columnist, Jason Whitlock. The latest editions to the lineup of Black Guilt Conservatives, they railed against Dr. King and the passing of the Civil Rights by stating that they worsened the Black community by drifting them away from God into "Democratic Dependency". They even accused him of the same crimes as Walsh did.
With the sudden change in tone and emphasis from the Right against Dr. King, you have to ask yourself why they're doing this and what caused them to believe this way. And this is not an extremist fringe of the Right that some would expect to hear from. All of these are Mainstream Right-Wing Figures who have direct lineage to the GOP, including the current presidential nominee, Donald Trump. That's as Establishment you can get. Their remarks have been criticized by a lot of people from both sides and surprisingly by some Black Conservatives. One of them was Pastor Darrell Scott, a former faith advisor of Trump, who these days, is one of a few Black Conservatives who has been calling out other Black Conservatives for tearing down their own race in order to elevate their status among others, a very notorious habit of them. He criticized Kirk for inspiring a Hitler Youth. Another was Kimberly Klacik, who in 2020, gained viral for her campaign video stating that Black Lives don't matter to Democrats when she was running for Maryland's 7th Congressional District following the death of civil rights leader, Elijah Cummings, who was the incumbent. She criticized Kirk for his remarks stating that his rhetoric will prevent Blacks from voting Republican. Even with that said, there have been instances in which Conservatives themselves have questioned the Civil Rights Act and many of them have been pretty negative. If you check out other Conservative websites and especially here on Reddit, many of their criticisms echo the same sentiments as those Pundits stating that it was unconstitutional and that in infringed on the First Amendment, particularly the Notion of Freedom of Association.
That being said, there is some silver lining to this. Now, that they exposed themselves for what they really of think Dr. King, I think it's time for them to admit that they never really liked him in the first place, let alone understood who he really was and what he really stood for. In fact, they never really liked him at all. All they did was whitewash him and cherry-pick his ideas and speech for own Partisan Agenda. Dr. King constantly talked about the notion of Black Pride and campaigned about the need for Reparations. He also supported Affirmative Action stating in 1965 that "a Society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for the Negro. Dr. King realized that our society was created in a way that managed to disadvantage the many for the benefit the few, and that America's Racial Hierarchy was connected to its Class Hierarchy. He also had political beliefs that manifested through both Racial Reconciliation and Concrete Policy Changes that could help restructure and benefit a divided and unequal nation. This is the reason why he referred to himself as a Democratic Socialist as he wanted a "Radical Redistribution of Economic and Political Power". In fact, he argued that true Equality can only be achieved, not just through legal rights, but through an equal distribution of resources. This is evident when he said “Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God’s children.” This is the exact vision that Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders believed in. After all, he did participate in the March on Washington in 1963. In regards to Police Brutality, while Dr. King opposed violent protest, he did acknowledge that a riot is the language of the Unheard and that it came from a place of Desperation. In fact, in his "I Have a Dream" Speech, he stated that Blacks could "never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the Victim of the Unspeakable Horrors of Police Brutality." After all, he was hounded by the FBI, was called a Communist, broke the law in protest of race-based Segregation and Violence, was thrown in jail, advocated Protests and Sit-Ins, opposed White Rule of Society, and was assassinated for his Race and his views on Race. Regarding the quote about the Content of Character from said speech, Dr. King's daughter, Bernice King stated that using solely that quote diminishes the purpose of the entire speech because her father's dream and work included "eradicating Racism, not ignoring it."
If anything, this goes to show that is Dr. King were around today, he would be heavily criticized for being Woke, politically correct, a Communist, a Race Hustler, and a member of the Radical Left. And we all know that the Right hates those ideologies passionately. But here's the thing, he never considered himself a Democrat, let alone a Republican. He was an Independent as he felt that both parties are the same. And reducing his legacy to a single quote diminishes the gains that he fought for and believed in. This especially goes to a lot of Conservatives out there who claim to follow his lead using that quote because they interpret them in a way that benefits them today than how he meant them back then. For you to claim that he didn't care about Skin Color is like saying Susan B. Anthony didn't care about Gender. And to those Conservatives who now hate him, including Black, I hope you're OK with people getting treated unfairly, including your own. Who knew being seen as an Equal is a Negative in your eyes.

2024.05.14 07:14 ScholarGrade Juniors - NOW is the time to start brainstorming essays

There have been an increasing number of juniors visiting this sub asking for advice about writing essays. Below are some tips and advice for making your essay stand out as excellent. Feel free to ask questions because I will answer every single question in the comments.
I know from experience that many of you are struggling to identify a good topic for your essay. Conventional wisdom says to start by brainstorming a list of potential topics, and chances are, you have already started a mental list of ideas. You might think you only have a few choices for topics, based on your activities or experiences, or essay examples you read, or the rough draft you already started (or worse, that GPT started...). I advise, however, that you put down your list of topics and back away from it. Forget that exists for a moment. Seriously - thinking about this initial list tethers you to certain ideas that might not actually be your best options.
Now you can begin brainstorming with a clean slate.
Start with thinking about what you want to show in your entire application, not just one essay. Every single component in your app has one purpose – to tell more about YOU. Filling out the rest of the application by rote and focusing solely on the essay is short-sighted and will leave so much potential untapped in your application.

It's About You. Tell Your Story - And Be The Protagonist

An admissions officer’s goal is to understand you fully, in the context of your background and the rest of the applicant pool. They will begin this with assessing your academic abilities and potential. Then they will evaluate how you will fit into the student body they’re trying to curate. All of this can be somewhat broad and diverse and touch on several institutional goals. But they will dig deep to find out what each applicant is like, what your core values and motivations are, what kind of student you will be, how you will contribute to the vibrant and intellectual campus community they’re building, etc.
Your goal with essay brainstorming is to ascertain how to powerfully tell your story in a manner that will fit these criteria. The entirety of your application (again, not just one essay) aims to showcase your abilities, qualifications, and uncommon attributes as a person in a positive way. Before you begin outlining or writing your application, you must determine what is unique about you that will stand out to an admissions panel. All students are truly unique. Not one other student has the same combination of life experiences, personality, passions, or goals as you do. Your job in your application is to frame your unique personal attributes in a positive and compelling way. How will you fit on campus? What personal qualities, strengths, core values, talents, or different perspectives do you bring to the table? What stories, deeper motivations/beliefs, or formative experiences can you use to illustrate all of this?
It is always helpful to start with some soul-searching or self-examination. You might not immediately know what you want to share about yourself. It’s not a simple task to decide how to summarize your whole life and being in a powerful and eloquent way on your application. Introspection prior to starting your application takes additional time and effort rather than jumping straight into your first draft. But it is also a valuable method to start writing a winning application that stands out from the stack.
You'll see the advice everywhere that all essay prompts are really about the same thing - you. The goal of each essay then is to showcase who you are, what matters to you, and how you think. I guarantee if you're on this sub enough, you'll hear the advice to "show, don't tell" when writing about yourself. But what does this mean really, and how do you do it well? How do you even get started on an essay that does this?

Introspection Questions

It’s often easiest to start thinking in terms of superlatives, especially those related to personal insights -- what are the most meaningful things about you, and what do you value the most? Here is a list of questions to help you brainstorm broadly before you narrow down your focus for writing:
I have a free introspection worksheet with over 100 questions like this designed to help you find ideas worth exploring in your essays. You can find it on the A2C Discord or download it directly here.

Find Your Story And Arc

Think of a small anecdote or story from your life that you could share that serves as a microcosm of who you are and what is important to you. It will massively help you narrow this down and find a gem of a story if you first start by thinking about your application arc or theme. This is the one-phrase summary of your entire application. It could be "brilliant entrepreneur who started her own successful business" or "talented athlete who wants to study economics and finance as they pertain to sports", or even "avid baker whose hobby sparked an interest in chemistry". It doesn't have to be related to your intended major, but it can help your arc be stronger and clearer if it is.
Once you have an arc determined and a story to share, think about what you want that story to say about you. This is where it can help to think of this as something you would share on a date - what impression does it make about you to the reader? Once you know this, start showing, not telling this attribute of yourself through your story. For example, instead of saying that you're compassionate toward others, you show an example of a time you were compassionate, then elaborate on why, and what it means to you.

Essay Brainstorming Techniques

If you are having trouble finding a story, or simply have writer’s block once you have picked your topic, here are some ideas to get your juices flowing:

Why Essays Matter

Here's the thing a lot of people don't realize about college admission: it's not an award for being the smartest, most accomplished, or most impressive. It's an invitation to join a community. Far too many students think that if they can just show that they're smart enough, they'll get in. Yale even says right on their admissions website that 75% of their applicants are academically qualified to succeed at Yale. But only ~4% are getting in. That should tell you that they're looking for more than just top tier test scores and grades. To be perfectly clear, you will need top tier grades and (optionally) test scores to show that you're qualified, and the vast majority of my students come to me with this part already in the bank. But what sets the admits apart? It's personal insight - sharing who you are, how you think, what matters to you, and how you engage community. You can't just say "/IAmVerySmart, please admit me," or even "I did a cool thing guys! Isn't that neat!" You need to go deeper and show them your core values, personal strengths, motivations, aspirations, character traits, foundational beliefs, personality, etc. And you need to do it in a charming, winsome way that makes them like you and want to invite you to join their community.
So how do I get students to do this? All of my students complete that introspection worksheet. We go through it and find the stories, examples, anecdotes, conversations, memories, relationships, and other things from their life that will help us craft a strong and personally insightful narrative. We also make lists of the values, strengths, and key personal qualities we want to showcase. Once we have some topics, outlines, abstracts, or rough drafts, we talk about which stories to tell where, how to tell them well, and what details to include to present the best they have to offer. Then we refine, edit, polish, and enhance over and over until the story sings, but more importantly shows their heart and soul. We also go through all the other application components to ensure consistency, quality, and distinctiveness.
Here's why this works so well: at most highly selective colleges there is a primary reader (or 2-3) who will review everything first and then present it to the admissions committee, who then votes on whether to admit you. That presentation typically goes one of three ways:
  1. Total enthusiasm, energy, and excitement. They strongly advocate for admission and paint a clear picture of how you will contribute to their goals and community. Everyone in the room picks up on that energy and is leaning forward in their chairs, looking for reasons to admit you. This is quite rare, generally less than 5 out of every 100 applications, even among those which are "fully qualified." When you do this right, you show depth, meaning, and valuable personal insights so the reviewer is learning about who you are and how you might engage the community they're curating. You come alive off the page as a person, not just another file.
  2. Business as usual. You're another great applicant in a pile of great applicants. They share a basic review of the facts, your profile, stats, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Maybe someone on the committee finds something they love, and they really push for admission. More likely, not and you get deferred/waitlisted even though there wasn't anything "wrong" with your application. They just didn't love you enough to commit.
  3. "Here's a stack of 20 applications that I didn't find all that compelling, so we won't present them individually, but you guys are the committee and you make the decisions. So let me know if there are any you want to talk about." In this case, unless there's a letter of endorsement from an athletics coach or your last name matches several buildings on campus, you're probably not getting additional consideration, much less admission. They will regret to inform you.
Everything we're doing is designed to help them get to know themselves, present the best they have to offer, and land in that first group. Having top tier essays is the single best way to get there. Get started on brainstorming in the next few weeks so you'll have time to get a few essays completed over the summer.

2024.05.14 07:03 Cthton Why Is It even an Argument about who Won the Shattering.

Why Is It even an Argument about who Won the Shattering.
In CGWorld.Vol286 It's stated Malenia Is beaten black and blue, but recognizes an enemy and stands tall, It's said that Malenia wasn't raised to show pain as It was out of character for her.
Radahn sees her, and I'm assuming saw her already beaten up badly from being In combat for who knows how long with who knows how many soldiers. He takes this moment to flex on her and release a wave of gravity energy. Malenia fixes her arm. This is the beginning of the battle, not Malenia fixing her arm because she took an attack earlier. Radahn cuts her prosthetic arm off and she dives onto him, Many people assume she does this because he's gonna kill her but thats wrong, they locked In a standstill, the trailer most likely skipped most of the fight, as I doubt It's 20 seconds long.
Malenia dives onto him, as I said. And Paralyzes him with her 12Inch blade made of unalloyed Metal. Many people assume she only stabbed herself, but why would Radahn sit still as the B*tch with a fungus Infection hopped onto his back, he was still for about 12 - 15 second's as that's how long the spell scarlet aeonia takes to cast, we don't know how long he was actually still, but we know It ended In both of them Incapacitated, they wouldn't call It a standstill If Radahn was perfectly fine and walking after getting nuclear radiation right onto his back.
Many people assume Malenia did this because she was critically Injured, but mind you, It's said they reached a standstill, THAN the scarlet aeonia bloomed, They locked In combat, neither being able to defeat the other, both being too Injured to finish the other off, Mind you this Is an Injured Malenia and Radahn at his Prime.
I don't wanna hear he was holding back the stars because It's obvious the stars don't put a strain on him, rather they sit there until released by him If they ever are, which they are when we kill him. Speaking of The stars, as the DLC Comes, we get more and more hints to the fact Radahn holding back the stars was just a stupid selfish and ego thing to do, not saying morals matter, but for some reason they only matter when It's Malenia and her bombing caelid, I wonder why that is... anyways.
Radahn holding back the stars most likely stopped Miquella's attempted ressurection / putting to peace Godwyn the golden, I'm pretty sure It was ressurection though. Nevermind that, Miquella most likely asked Malenia to find who was keeping the stars still, As Miquella's ceremony to bring back Godwyn couldn't be done without the Eclipe, the same eclipse Radahn was stopping from happening, Miquella was kidnapped before Radahn died and therefore wasn't able to compete his ceremony BECAUSE of Radahn, not saying bringing back Godwyn was a good Idea, but he seemed pretty chill.
I'm saying, Not that Malenia won, but that It very much Is a standstill with no winner, and If you wanna get technical the odds were In Radahns favor against a stupid blind girl with three missing limbs and a deteriorating mental state.
Here's all the stuff I used for this, and coming to conclusions from In-game Items, etc.
https://preview.redd.it/guek8nbdqb0d1.png?width=780&format=png&auto=webp&s=2590ee037d6cf98844d3e3e3c2db2624994ef3e0
https://imgur.com/jA2gBge - stalemate https://imgur.com/ab6v2i2 - Radahn standing still, not fighting back, hmmm maybe It's because he's Impaled, so yes she did critically Injure him.
A translated explanation from someone who speaks the language and would be able to read It properly, the context was someone asking If Radahn won.

>Almost 100% of the people who saw the depiction in the image movie where Radan was pushing Marenia (including the respondents here) misunderstood, but what is actually depicted in that movie is Radan's unconsciousness. In some cases, it may even be called a complete failure. That's because if you look at that video alone, it seems like the scene where Radan and Marenia have already fought in single combat, and where Radan has the upper hand, is depicted from the middle of the game...but in reality, at that point, the two had not yet fought. . Marenia, who challenged Radan on a great expedition across almost the entire world, took up a sword and engaged in a deadly battle with the mighty Red Lion Corps, and at this point she was injured and exhausted to the point of exhaustion. The encounter scene where Radan steps forward in front of the exhausted Marenia is the situation at the beginning of that movie. 2024.05.14 06:34 typical_Asian_guy_02 I take time to watch pros play some champion(s) at it finest, not to watch them either mechanically failed or don't know how a champion works at all

I don't think the Fearless Draft is as good as it sound. First of all, the reason there usually about 5-10 champions for example been played in the midlane is because those champion are the best for some aspect, another case is they also have more tools to turn the tide or control the game compare to other champions. For example, imagine a game 5, World Finals, fucking Chovy pull out a Zed mid then get fucking destroy by Faker pulling out a Katarina, then all of a sudden no more marcro, just lane gapped and destroy the opponent from the lane state. Another thing is if Knight, game 5, has to pick a Fizz or some random Yasuo just because all other champions that is good for his playstyle is banned, do you really think the winner is better at all ? Beside, why one-tricks is good for ranked and Soloq, people learnt the best of champion from them, but when pros is good at some subset of champion, then everybody want them to know how to use all of the champion at their best ? Another possible situation is that they just pick counter champion at their respective lane, since all of the "neutral" champions are banned out

2024.05.14 06:27 NewWays91 What's Your Favorite Below the Line Nomination?

I feel like the techs don't always get the love they deserve and many people view them as the lesser nominations but I'm actually usually the most excited for these nominations more than anything else. I'm gonna toss the shorts in here as well. I'm mostly sticking to nominations but if you wanna toss in a win, go ahead.
For the more recent ones, I think All the Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA is probably one of the strongest nominations in Original Song so far this century. I'm a dyed in the wool Lady Gaga fan but I've never been huge on Shallow nor A Star is Born for many reasons. I'm of the opinion that getting Lady Gaga in your movie to basically just play the girlfriend is kind of a waste. If anything I think she gets less to do that in previous versions. The song itself is fine but I've never been one for slower songs or ballads. Hell if you're gonna give an Oscar to a slow building emotional Lady Gaga song, she should've won for Til It Happens to You from The Hunting Ground. We also would've been spared Diane Warren bulldozing her way into this category every year. That aside, All the Stars is probably one of the better songs from that movie and soundtrack. It encapsulates the themes of the film in a way that feels direct and not just like some song they slapped onto the credits. The songs in the sequel are much stronger and are incorporated into the film better, but I would've preferred to see All the Stars win.
To go further back, I've always loved the costumes from Dreamgirls and it was my choice to win. That being said, this is probably the strongest line-up we've had in this category in a long ass time. I can't think of any film except maybe The Queen that didn't have some costumes that wowed me. I might've replaced The Queen with Pan's Labyrinth but outside of that, this was a pretty stacked category. For me though, Dreamgirls was the obvious winner here. There's a delicate balance when doing a musical set in the past because you don't want it to just read as a period piece but you also want the costumes to aide in the theatricality as well. There are musical films that do this very well (Chicago, Hairspray, Mary Poppins) and ones that do not (Les Miserables being the big one). Dreamgirls was such a slick production overall and the costumes not only pulled from their inspiration but told a story with them. I could tell which Dream was mean to wear which costume.
To go even further back, everything for A Star is Born with Judy Garland was a top tier nomination especially below the line. It's probably the best studio system musical that era produced and it's a shame it won zilch. How do you not even nominate the cinematography? I mean c'mon! But if we're talking about actual BTL nominations, it's gotta be that art direction nom now known as production design. I often point to this film as an example of older musicals that aren't just light fluff and I think it really did spur something because we did get kinda gritty and more complex musicals for a while there. The production design aides in this because while the musical numbers are bright and vibrant, there's an inherent darkness and slight otherworldly quality that fills me with a sense of dread. As much fun as we're having, you know it's not gonna last for long. The rest of the film is also exquisitely decorated and designed. It's the kind of film that feels like a period piece even though it's not meant to be. It so perfectly encapsulates the mood of the era and that underlying anxiety that was a strong undercurrent in the 1950's. Sure things are fine now, but for how long? The costumes, the song and the score are top notch too. It's easily one of the best films of the 1950's, if not the 1900's. Fight me.
What's yours?

2024.05.14 06:24 Japtime PSA: Negotiating Rental Increases in NSW

The more people who are aware of these resources, the more people will be able to pushback on landlords trying to rip them off. Share this with anyone you know who is renting, so that they have this info handy when times comes for Lease Renewal.
Here are a few tips that have helped me get better results out of these negotiations:
tldr; Generate a letter using the Negotiation Kit and use this when responding to the increase notice. Make sure to do this as early as possible as NCAT only has a 30 day window from notice. Having other properties as examples can also help when negotiating.
1. Do Proactive Research
2. Respond Quickly - 30 Day NCAT Window
3. Tenants Union of NSW Negotiation Kit
4. Don't be a D**\*
Following these steps seriously helped my luck with property managers. I am hoping it will also help you guys.

2024.05.14 05:18 GAME043010 Ok so I just finished listening to blink-182's entire discography. Here's what I have to say about everything

Buddha: Pretty good. Not outstanding but it's a demo so it kinda gets an excuse of kinda sounding like doo doo. 6.9/10 (🤨)
Cheshire Cat: Great album. The songs that were originally on Buddha are improved on this album imo. Plus, the one and only M+Ms. 8.5/10
Dancing With Myself: Actually kinda like this song 7.5/10
Dude Ranch: So iconic. The riffs on this shit are amazing and catchy and these choruses are great. Dammit still remains as one of the best blink songs ever, along with Josie, and a few of my faves like Pathetic, Voyeur, and of course Dog Lapping. 9/10
I Won't Be Home For Christmas: One of my favorite Christmas songs by an artist/band from the 90s and 2000s. 8/10
Enema Of The State: while listening to this album, I remembered why All The Small Things is such a fucking amazing song. I skip it so many times, but now I realize just how catchy and open that fucking chorus is. Literally every song on this album is a 10. No exceptions. 10/10 MASTERPIECE
The Mark Tom & Travis Show: One of my favorite live albums of all time. They play everything so well and the jokes are really funny! Man Overboard is an amazing pick for the lead single for this album. Also those short songs are great especially because they kinda transition into the next song. Words Of Wisdom is truly the place to go for good advice from Mark & Tom. 9/10
TOYPAJ: Another classic. Pretty obvious why. 10/10 MASTERPIECE
Self-titled: Bro blink was on something when they were cooking up these three albums. I love how different these songs are from one another. First 2 tracks are straight pop-punk. Then I Miss You is an acoustic rock ballad or whatever you wanna call it. Violence and Stockholm Syndrome are kinda Post-hardcore. Down is back to pop-punk. Go, Asthenia, and Always is the best transition trilogy on a blink album imo. Here's Your Letter and I'm Lost Without You is kinda a perfect outro. 10/10 ONCE AGAIN, MASTERPIECE
Neighborhoods: Pretty good. Not my fav, but I like the kinda Box Car Racer sound some of these songs have. Ghost On The Dance Floor is one of the best blink songs to dance to, that riff is so moving. 7.6/10
Dogs Eating Dogs: Great EP. My favorite song off this ep is actually Disaster. Quite underrated. That chorus is amazing. All these songs are great. 8.5/10
California: Good album. Not great but still good. The choruses feel really open, but the guitar work is kinda lame and uninteresting. 7.5/10
California Deluxe: Why was this not the original album?!?! Dude, there are actual riffs, there are cool production choices, interesting drum beats, for example the dance beat in Good Old Days. Like, these bonus tracks are amazing. 10/10 ANOTHER MASTERPIECE
NINE: I really thought I was gonna hate this and get bored. The singles on this album are kinda bad choices to represent the album because the rest of the album is phenomenal besides the singles (except for I Really Wish I Hated You). Heaven is literally heaven. The First Time is an amazing intro song. Remember To Forget Me is an outstanding outro. Hungover You feels kinda underrated. Great album. 8.5/10
The blink collabs (2018-2020): i only liked one blink collab song from this era: Scumbag. The others are ass. The one with Lil Wayne is literally a 0. I'm sorry but it's true. The first verse in the one with The Chainsmokers is literally I Miss You and they're not even subtle about it.
Not Another Christmas Song: 🤷/10
Quarantine: COVID-19/10
ONE MORE TIME...: What a fucking comeback. Omg. I don't give a shit about the small production issues, this album is near perfect. Cut Me Off and See You are amazing bonus tracks that should've been on the original album. I can sense their emotion in this album and I love how it's mixed with some of that classic blink goofiness like in Edging, Dance With Me, Anthem Part 3, and most of all, TURPENTINE. 9.5/10
Ok I'm done now :)

2024.05.14 05:05 MichaelfromKroger Writing Development Website/Program

Good evening y'all (it's 11 pm EST)
I'm currently a college student pursuing an IT degree and I was speaking with my father in law about an idea for a writing skills development program. The basis of the program/website is to teach students from Elementary school to the highschool and collegiate level on how to write essays. He posits that his students he has worked with do not have a good grasp on how to format their essays and papers, which then falls short in their future academic courses and he wants to make a program that will help them step by step.
My general layout right now is that it will be split into different levels of writing. From Levels 1 through 5: Elementary, Middle School, High School, College Prep, and Collegiate level writing skills. Within each level, I'll have writing tips and exercises to help the students learn the proper way to write their essays, with the Five Paragraph Essay as the format they will be learning.
Level 1: Sentence Structure, Formatting, and Composition. This includes things like spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc.
Level 2: Adding in proper grammar, sentence continuation, paragraph structure, readability and comprehension, editing skills (rereading to make sure it is grammatically correct, has proper punctuation, sounds academically thought out, etc). We'll introduce how to write and connect multiple paragraphs as well as intro, body, and conclusion.
Level 3: Here we'll reinforce sentence structure for Intro, body, and conclusion paragraphs as well as citation and source material research. We'll start on how to properly write a Five paragraph essay with the hourglass/pyramid format (Broad introduction that gets more specific when it gets to the thesis sentence, body paragraphs with point evidence and example sentences, and then specific reintroduction of main points to a broad conclusion of the thesis). [I may have this in the Middle school Level 2 section as this is something I learned in middle school] We will also introduce different types of essays such as Argumentative, Systhesis, Compare and Contrast, Narrative, Persuasive, etc.
Level 4: In this level we will introduce the importance of rough draft, revise and polish, editing and formatting, and college entrance essays and college application questions. This section will mostly be open to Junior (11th) and Senior (12th) grade students who are preparing for their academic life outside of Highschool. We will also be introducing how to write cover letters, resumes, and exploring the other side of life outside of High school.
Level 5: Collegiate level writing will focus on precision writing, using the fewest words necessary to accurately convey an idea. Objectivity, using accurate, clear and relevant information. Logical Structure, using precise word choice and structure. Researching, Formatting, time management, and consistence and conciseness. We will also go back to resume and cover letter writing for those who are looking for a career after a degree. We will be adding a section to help students with term paper writing as well as advancement (Masters and Doctorate level) writing.
I wanted to reach out to former, current, and aspiring English Teachers to ask for feedback on this idea. Is this something that you would use in your class as a teaching tool for your students? What can be done for this to be implemented in your classes if this website/program gets published? What things should be added, removed, improved, or changed in the current idea to make it go alongside the current English course curriculum in your school district? What else should be included to facilitate user interaction with this website?
Please give me as much feedback as you can think of, whether that is directly on this post or in a direct message. My hope and goal is to be able to develop the future generation and to move away from using AI as a writing tool because it takes away the practical skills that is severely lacking in some, if not most, of the students today.

2024.05.14 04:48 JohannGoethe Etymology of HORSE 🐴 , from Old English HORS; from the Greek solar 🌞 chariot 𓌝 horses 🐎 of Apollo (Απολλων) [1061], called HORUS (Ωρος) by the Egyptians (Newton, 250A/1705)

Etymology of HORSE 🐴 , from Old English HORS; from the Greek solar 🌞 chariot 𓌝 horses 🐎 of Apollo (Απολλων) [1061], called HORUS (Ωρος) by the Egyptians (Newton, 250A/1705)
Abstract
The EAN Etymo of the word horse 🐎; from Old English HORS (1000A/-945); from the Greek solar 🌞 chariot 𓌝 horses 🐎 of Apollo (Απολλων) [1061] (2800A/-845); from the Egyptian HORUS (Ωρος), the solar 🌞 falcon 𓅃 [C5] sun god, which is the Egyptian Apollo (Newton, 250A/1705), dated to the Hedju Hor king name (5200A/-3245).
Overview
Take the word “horse” as an example:
From Middle English horse, hors, from Old English hors (“horse”);
PIEland reconstructs:
from Proto-West Germanic \hors, *hross*, from Proto-Germanic \hrussą* (“horse”), from PIE \ḱr̥sós* (“vehicle”), from PIE \ḱers-* (“to run”).
Stefan Arvidsson, in his Aryan Idols (A45/2000), talks about how the PIE-ists have used this one single “hypothetical” world reconstruct to theorize about an entire “imagined“ civilization, with chariots and warriors, how they conquered India, and how they ate horse meat, and all kinds of “fake history”.
“Wilhelm Koppers (20A/1935), in his The Indo-European Question in the Light of Historical Ethnology, argued that the ancient Indo-Germans had not only raised horses for food, but had also learned to ride them.”
— Stefan Arvidsson (A45/2000), Aryan Idols (pg. 259)
All of this from a reconstructed word etymology? Fake history, pure and simple.
All of these words can be more accurately reconstructed from Egyptian, which is a key 🔑 word “REAL” civilization.
Just looking at the above, where we have the real attested word hors, in Old English (1000A/-945), we go back to the known fact that Apollo (Απολλων) [1061], the sun 🌞 god, was pulled on his solar chariot by golden solar horses 🐎 , shown below:
https://preview.redd.it/z4ek6uet1b0d1.png?width=1272&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b8a6c6c36e04ec9b1366f383b64908512b237c1
The name Apollo, in GodGeometry, dating to 2800A (-845), as his name is the inner hexagon circumference [1061] of the of an iota (ιωτα) [1111] circle that surrounds the temple.
Now, as is well know, e.g. as stated by Newton:
Newton previously decoded that Apollo is based on Horus:
“Among the Egyptians Apollo who is the sun 🌞 is called Horus.”
— Isaac Newton (250A/1705), “Notes on Ancient History and Mythology”
the pre-script of Apollo, is the Egyptian sun 🌞 god Horus (Ωρος), whence we have found the EAN etymo of the Old English word “horse”, aka solar 🌞 horse 🐎 (Ωρος) [1170].
Wiktionary entry on Horus:
From Late Latin Hōrus, from Ancient Greek Ὧρος (Hôros), from Egyptian ḥr.
The Ωρος link returns:
Borrowed from Egyptian 𓅃 [C5] (ḥr, “Horus”).
No need to invent an entire civilization to do it either! Problem solved.
This one simple “quick derivation”, which I just did off the top of my head, should be enough to evidence, to any reasonable person, that the entire PIE theory is defunct.
Yet, as we all know, old habits die hard. PIE-heads have been coming to this sub for nearly two-years now. It does not matter what you tell them, there reply is: deny, deny, deny, deny
People will still probably be believing PIE theory or the PIEland hypothesis a century or more from now.
Notes
  1. Post originated reply comment: here.
  2. Added to letter H section of EAN Etymo Dictionary.

2024.05.14 04:43 gottro4 I made a cipher in class to fidget.

I made a cipher in class to fidget.
So, I got this really beautiful journal the other day at a garage sale, and I have been using it for doodling in school. I have often found while I'm in class that I wish to write down my thoughts but don't want anyone else to see what I'm writing down. I usually remedy this by just scribbling and pretending that I'm writing my thoughts or writing a bunch of cursive Ls and also pretending that I'm actually writing. In class I randomly decided to make a cipher based on the cursive L and just cursive in general. With all that in mind, I am proud to present... Cursish. I have included the key along with a few examples of writing. Though through the process of writing with it I have changed a few letters.

2024.05.14 04:32 shiftless_wonder A lot of ignorant, lunatic, pretend-experts are weighing in on the university encampment issue. U of A law professor Eric Adams is not one of them.

https://globalnews.ca/pages/audioondemand/ 11:11AM audio time on Shaye Ganam this morning.
Shaye: ...How would you assess what happened on university campuses in Alberta this week?
Eric: Well, I think a number of things are true. Number 1 is, of course - that is protected speech and of course, that was/did appear to be, by all accounts, a peaceful assembly. So there's no question that because the charter applies, the individuals on those campuses at U of A and U of C, had protected charter rights. Now, the next question. Is/does a no-camping rule - is that a reasonable limit for universities to enforce? And I think there's good arguments to suggest that it is.
I mean, for example, if it's true for this protest, it's got to be true for all protests. So, does it mean that anybody protesting anything can simply move into a university campus and set up camp, and live there, perhaps indefinitely until their quote/unquote demands are met? If the university has to have a neutral approach to all these incidents of speech... so if there's a policy that says, - well, I guess camp is expression so I guess you can camp here - then they have to take that same position with the next protest, and the next protest, and somebody that wants to set up a anti-vaccine tent-city on the campus too. You can't pick your winners and losers.
So, does the university have a reasonable position to say - our campuses aren't equipped for camping? There are not bathroom facilities, there are not cooking facilities. There's a danger to individuals when they are here in the dark without campus security. We wouldn't be able to manage the situation if a counter-protest showed up in the middle of the night. If a fire tears through one of these tent cities and a bunch of 20-year-olds perish wouldn't we be liable? We are not equipped to be a campsite for expression. That seems to be, to me, not a crazy position for the university to take.
The question is, how does it execute that policy and I think that's where, you know, you're going to get a lot of yelling on both sides. But from my perspective, if you've got a responsible policy that says no camping, then what is the way to engage the protesters with that message. How do you communicate that to them? What timeline do you give them to exercise their free-speech rights and have a dignified exit? Or is your first move, on the first night at dawn to send in baton wielding police officers? I think there's some criticism here that that's a disproportionate response to a peaceful protest.
Smart dude. Good interview.

2024.05.14 03:48 MichaelfromKroger Currently in college and have a website idea, can I get suggestions and pointers?

As of right now, I have a basic site structure and idea of how to create the website but I'm needing advice on the execution. Questions I have are: How do I market this as a good program to use in the academic field and the benefits of this program to a local or state board of education? How would I make it profitable? I understand that I can make it a subscription for a business to use but I do not know the scope of the upkeep and maintenance it requires to keep a program like this from crashing and burning. Those who are in business, what can I do or what can I expect from starting this venture? This is my first business idea ever and I'm struggling to find the right resources to help me get it going besides winging it, please DM me any materials or resources that I can use or read up on to help me out with this venture. Right now, I don't have much money or resources to fully publish this idea, it's not even 5% created yet on the website standpoint, so there is a lot of room for rework and innovation before the final product can be marketed and used.
If this post is not acceptable please let me know. I want to be able to make my Father in Law's idea a reality because he is a man I deeply respect and admire.

2024.05.14 03:16 Mario_Specialist In Mario Party 8, why is there no option to (directly) take half of someone’s coins if someone wins a Duel Minigame?

So, as you may see, I’m a Mario Party 8 player. And ever since I’ve played it and watched many YouTube videos of that footage, I’ve noticed something interesting.
It’s evident that there are ways to still take half of someone’s coins through other means, such as Bowser taking half of them if you encounter him or getting shocked with someone else’s Cashzap Candy. But in Mario Party 7, the roulette would allow the winner to take half or even all of the loser’s coins.
Well, the Dart Wheel in Mario Party 8 gives a fair variety of options for the winner, depending on whether the winner is the attacker or the defender, as well as the mode being played. There are 7 different options:
  1. 1 coin
  2. 5 coins
  3. 10 coins
  4. 20 coins
  5. 30 coins
  6. 1 Star
  7. 2 Stars
However, there is no option to take exactly half of someone's coins directly. This means that the only way to do so is by sheer coincidence (example: someone has 40 coins, but they get 20 coins taken because they lost the Duel minigame).
This is something that I have wondered ever since I started playing the game. And I wonder why Nintendo decided to do this. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

2024.05.14 03:11 CartoonistEnough3029 Are there any romanization systems of Korean besides the standard one that’s most used?

Hello! As the title implies, I was wondering if there were any other romanization systems for Korean besides the standard one? I personally find it easy to pronounce Korean words but by GOD I cannot read the standard romanization half the time.
Let’s give some lines from D.va from OW for example-
teollyeossne
solijilleo
nal igilsu eobs-eulgeol
na michyeossnabwa
These are the standard romanization, but if I were to do a romanization where it sounds more faithful-
tuhl-lyuht-ne
so-ri chil-luh
nal i-gil soon uhp-seul gguhl
na mi-chuht-na-ba
I genuinely don’t have issues following along with the romanizations of eastern Asian languages, like Japanese and Chinese (Chinese takes more time to get used to but once you know the basics it gets easier) but no matter how many times I try i genuinely cannot comprehend Korean romanization because so many of the letters are unpronounced and it trips me up so bad.
Any suggestions?

2024.05.14 03:02 Plastic_Special_3379 Termination Alberta in probation period

Basic questions… I was terminated from my employment within my 3 month probation period with a company that is Federally Regulated. The reason she put in my letter was that I was failing to meet the expectations of the position. I never once was advised my performance wasn’t satisfactory or received any sort of feedback or coaching while there so I’m confused. She wouldn’t tell me what expectations I didn’t meet or give examples. I know typically employers can terminate in the probation period but I’m worried my ROE will reflect a reason indicating it was my “fault” and therefore won’t qualify for EI. I’m aware Federally Regulated businesses cannot terminate without cause even with severance but not sure if that is valid in the probation period. What do you think?

2024.05.14 02:49 Enurgi Is there any name for the "sk/skj"-sound in certain Norwegian dialects?

As the title says, certain Norwegian dialects pronounce the letters sk and skj differently from the rest of the country, and I've been looking all over the internet to see if anybody knows if there is a name for this specific sound?
An example of this is found in the first line of Henning Sommerro's song "Vårsøg":

2024.05.14 01:28 PizzaBert Army P08 Marking and Serialization Patterns

Army P08 Marking and Serialization Patterns
The luger is an iconic pistol that can often demand serious cash. Be it for what it is, a matching example demands a heavy premium over one with one or two mismatched parts. To make purchasing even more stressful, a handful of serialized parts are not able to be identified without disassembly. I hope this post will show buyers where to look when evaluating a potential purchase.
The patterns shared in this guide will generally hold - with minor exceptions - for all army P08s manufactured by DWM, Erfurt, Simson, and Mauser. This particular example is a 1917 produced Erfurt luger. The small crown over letter proofs are unique to Erfurt manufactured pistols. Simson and 1934 Mauser will also have each individual part stamped
1, 2. Left side of the pistol reveals serial numbers on the receiver (4 digits) and last two digits on takedown lever and side plate.
  1. Removal of side plate reveals the last two digits of the serial on the trigger. Note the “lucky charms” and “assembly numbers” - these markings are likely stamped by workers indicating a particular operation has been performed, but this is not concrete. These can be seen, with variation, among all major manufacturers.
  2. The safety flag and sear bar.
  3. The top of the safety lever.
  4. Grips will be serialized by some manufacturers during certain times. Check on the Lugerforums for other examples to see if your pistol should have serialized grips.
  5. The extractor and center toggle link. The manufacturer of the pistol will be roll marked on the center link.
  6. Rear toggle on back.
  7. Rear axel pin (Mauser production only)
  8. Bottom of barrel. (Rust blued examples will display whitening around font “halo”)
  9. Front of frame (4 digit + suffix). This is the true serial of the gun.
  10. Left of breach block (needs to be removed from barrel extension).

Aizen vs Kaden (Bleach vs Guardian Tales) ‘To Strike Down Those Above’. UPDATED/IMPROVED CONNECTIONS + update on Aktoruks future

Real Talk, it’s a bit rough, so no shame in scrolling past. Go past the Spoiler warning for the stuff related to the MU.

I’ve kept a lot hidden from my online persona, but I’ll be honest for a moment. Currently, in a separate province, my mom is going for scans. There’s a very real chance that she has cancer, and the thought frankly destroys me.
I’ve decided that I’ll be taking a ‘break’ after this post. I truly do adore this community, but personal things are just not doing great. I wish to avoid the risk of high emotions I am currently susceptible to. I’ll probably be sticking around to lurk at times, but it’ll be low key.
I wished to make something more, and decided that making things smoother for the MU I’m most proud of is a good way to leave things. When I return, I have many more projects planned. Scripts, MU’s, and even Scaling Scans. Look forward to that, while I do the opposite (of looking forward in general, I’m excited for the projects).
Depending on the speed of things, I may know how things go at the end of this week. There are two cases. In the best case, I will be back shortly after this news. In the worst case, it may be multiple months before I return, should I return.
Thank you all in advance for reading, and thank you all for being cool people. It’s been really helpful being able to take my mind off things, and I hope I can continue to make a fool of myself in all the best ways.

Absolutely massive spoilers for both Bleach and Guardian Tales. Only read if you are fine with that.

immediate Basic Core connections
-Villains -Villainous allies -Both From Asian (east) countries -Ancient beings in comparison to human lifespan, but not particularly for their species. -Yes, ‘en’ is the final part of their five-letter names. This is not something that should sell you on the matchup.
In Depth/Actually Good Connections
-Long-term threats in their respective series. Constant presences which utilize the protagonists as tests.
-While among the most powerful characters in their verse, intelligence is what makes them terrifying. Capable of manipulating their way into power, influence, and secrecy.
-Prior to a massive reveal, both are thought to be allies to the ‘good side’ (Captain Aizen and Kaden the Hero), with the few who knew being ancient scientists that got locked away to prevent word from spreading.
-Their major goals involve utilizing an unknown power (Labose and the Hogyoku) which is made via mass sacrifice. Both would seemingly succeed in mastering this power, though it is purposefully left vague if they hold complete control.
-During the process of obtaining this power, both would infect others with a primary ‘disease’ of the series (Hollowfication and L-Bacteria). This includes characters of high power (Several Captains and Lieutenants and A Hero of the Champions Sword + A Dragon).
-Both have purposes for these actions which seem good in a skewed lens (Ending the existence of the Soul King and Preventing the Loop from Continuing). These events both involve a higher power (Potentially the highest in the series).
-But through a regular lens, these plans are fucked ways to handle the issues. This is due to issues with both characters mentality (Aizen was incapable of seeing others as equal to him and Kaden was burdened with hundreds-thousands of his past timelines).
-Their eventual ascension would first turn them into monstrous beings due to their views of power, but would both return to forms close to original at their strongest.
-Similarity in armies. Lorraine and Gin are both ‘right-hands’ with closed eyes, who would eventually attempt to overthrow when the ascension had already begun.
The Arracnars and L-Monsters are beings from the series that were manipulated by the characters. They would accept ‘power’ which allowed them to be either pawns or tests.
-Opposites of their main/orginal world (SS and The Otherside) would be where their plans of action took place.
-Both utilize dimensional rifts to travel.
-They would be defeated by the ‘experimental’ protagonists (Ichigo and The Guardian) which they had kept an eye on with interest to their plans.
-Both would end up aiding the protagonist against a further threat (Ywach and *The Fairies). While it is questionable whether this was simply due to shared interest or a show of empathy, both were ultimately good actions which saved the lives of many. *The Fairies do not currently have an official title.
Contrasts:
-Bisecting/Permanently crippling others was used against Kaden (via Clara), while Aizen used it for his plan (Taking a SK piece from Rangiku when attempting to create a Hogyoku).
-Kaden truly believes himself to be doing a noble thing, while Aizen is aware that what he does is wrong (he just doesn’t care).
-Kaden shows genuine struggle to kill his old allies (Such as Erina), while Aizen has no issues harming his fellow captains and his Squads lieutenant.
Animation Potential:
Kaden holds this back due to GT being incredibly niche. Aizen has a wide variety of both sprite and 2d models to work with (DB has already used a sprite for him). While Kaden only has his ingame sprite, which does not fit Aizen’s.
In their simplest forms, both are not easy draws. In their monstrous forms, Aizen is a little more difficult and Kaden is horrid.
Kaden does have some stuff to work with for creation of a model (plenty of ingame art), but that’s the issue, it would have to be fan-made.
Fight Potential:
-Army fight potential with Arrancars vs L-Monsters.
-End of army battle with Espada vs Laura, Morrian, and the L-Titans.
-Begin in base forms, simple sword fight. Kaden has his staff Repentance and Aizen has his Zanpakuto Kyoka Suigetsu. Both are capable in close-quarters combat.
Aizen will Utilize his Kido for an Advantage vs Kaden’s usage of Ice and Chains.
Kaden takes the upper hand, stabbing Aizen with Repentance. Only for it to be revealed that he was under Kyoka Suigetsu, and killed Clara (or an image of her, at least)
-First evolution: Cocoon Aizen vs First Phase Infected Kaden. Similar fighting style, Kaden focusing more on Chains, L-Flowers, and ice than before.
Honestly, the least interesting part of the fight, as both are similar to the first forms.
The one thing I’ll give this is Gin and Lorraine both attempting to take them out would be best fit here. Gin vs Kaden and Lorraine vs Aizen. They’ll lose, but it gives a path to the next part.
-Second Evolution: Butterfly Aizen vs Second Phase Infected.
At this point both utilize a lot more of their ranged attacks. It’s very much similar to the other evolutions though, just with more monstrous canvas’s.
At this point Kaden has a Labose realm that he utilizes, which can serve as a counter of some degree to Kyoka Suigetsu. Though it has an obvious weakness with the crystals, so Aizen has an actual out.
-Final Evolution: ‘Sealed’ Aizen vs Final Phase Kaden.
Both back to Human forms. Aizen being fused with his Zanpakuto means that it’s now fists vs Sword (Kaden is using the Disgraced Heroes Blade).
Both utilize ranged attacks. Kaden’s storms vs Aizens Kido.
While I’m not sure whether it would technically work, Kaden using a dimension slash to break free of Kyoka Suigetsu would be sick.
-Death: Two ways.
Reaching the end of the fight, both combatants stand to look at each other. For a brief moment, they flash to their ‘good’ forms. Captain Aizen and Kaden the Hero. Perhaps things could be different had their minds been in better spots.
Regardless, should Kaden win, he erases Aizen via Labose. Should Aizen win, he destroys Kaden with a Cero.

Debate:

Note: One thing I wish to do once I return is make a proper and studied look into uni Bleach. I do not think my speed debating did justice to what I’m still certain one. But I need to ensure I’m not on a path without bearing.
This was created with Uni Aizen in mind, and I know it a slippery slope, but this current debate is using that for the sake of storytelling a close fight. I understand that it’s flawed until/unless I come with the proof, but I’ve opted to make this choice.
I will also be using the lower interpretation of Kaden (Universal rather than Mutli or higher). As the debate has an obvious winner in this case, regardless of where Aizen gets scaled.
Win Cons: Unlike a lot of Aizen Matchups, he actually has a loss condition that doesn’t rely on being stat-stomped. Labose has erasure capabilities, proving capable of wiping timelines completely. Kaden will need to weaken/overpower Aizen to manage this, but just in the same way someone would need to for a regular kill.
Kaden is limited in his rebirth, and unlike Aizen, is capable of dying once he reaches his peak. The longer the fight goes on, the better chance Aizen has of landing a killing blow.
I will not be considering the memories stored within the champions sword. While it would be a restoration of the Kaden that fought Aizen, it is reliant on a continuing loop (an outside force). If Aizen kills the body of the current timeline, that is absolutely close enough to be called a victory.
Strength: Aizen takes this due to affecting the three realms (3 Universes) while Kaden only affects 2. It’s close, but Aizen just has a larger showing.
Durability: Same as Strength, as it’s a showing of 3 Universes to 2.
Speed: Likewise, the ability to nearly instantly affect 3 universes is higher than affecting 2, which means Aizen is presumably faster. Both have similar capabilities with dimensional travel and teleportation, so this is actually a close stat.
Experience: Both are centuries old at least, with all being dedicated to fighting or research. But Kaden has hundreds, if not thousands, of loops worth of memories as well. This is a wash for Kaden.
Intelligence: Tie, both not only show incredibly similar cognitive capability, but they both focus on manipulation. There’s nothing to show that either has a notable advantage.
Skill: For use of extended abilities, Aizen’s Kido and Kyoka Suigetsu is far more impressive than Kaden’s ice, chains, and Labose attacks. Kaden is far more impressive than Aizen, due to being a long-term swordsman primarily, and capable of beating primordial sword fighters. I give it a tie, but unlike for intel as it’s because they have a roughly equal amount of advantages, rather than being equal in everything.
Powers: Even with Labose having the potential to counter it, Aizen still has immortality. Kaden also has no good counters to mind fucks. Aizen takes this.
Weapons: I’m treating this as ‘army’, as it’s unfair to include the more power-like Kyoka Sugetsu. Likewise a tie, because Aizen has a more impressive variety of Arrancars, but Kaden utilizes his forces far more effectively. Aizen has no issue killing of valuable allies, but Kaden knows how to make only necessary sacrifices.
Winner: Should we utilize the prior sackings, Aizen wins. He’ll need to be wary of Labose, a power that proves to be a risk to his immortality, but Kaden can’t take advantage of that unless he can get through Aizen’s incredible variety and Kyoka Suigetsu.
All Aizen needs to do is continue forcing Kaden on the back foot, eventually his evolution will peak and a kill becomes possible. Kaden won’t be able to find a victory in 9/10 cases.
With mid-dif (due to Kaden having very possibly chances at victory), Aizen is the winner.

2024.05.14 00:49 Next-Introduction-25 Why is a defendant’s criminal history sometimes not allowed in a criminal trial even when it seems relevant?

I know this is super general and that it varies a lot by case, but is there a basic explanation for why criminal history information that seems extremely relevant is sometimes not allowed to be brought up to a jury? This is purely me asking after noticing this trend from reading about crimes and trials so I don’t have a specific example in mind.
For example, I’ve heard of examples of people who were convicted of assault or domestic violence with one partner who later went on to be charged with homicide of a different partner, and then the prior domestic violence charges aren’t allowed to be brought up in court. I can understand not bringing up a totally unrelated charge like, forgery or something, as forgery is unrelated to murder. But a history of violence seems like it’s relevant to other violent crime.
Is that not a typical example maybe?
I can understand that anything circumstantial may not be allowed (like if someone was charged or not convicted) or that you can’t involve witnesses that can’t be cross examined, like a letter from a deceased person perhaps. But sometimes it just seems nuts that this info isn’t permitted and as a layperson I can’t imagine a legal reason why it can’t.

2024.05.14 00:35 ThickRequirement8710 Cashing US savings bond after near complete name change

I changed my name long before I knew there were bonds in my birth name (my parents had them saved and waited until they felt I was responsible enough to have them). I am waffling on whether or not to cash them since they're about 8 years off from being 30 years but I am they could finally put me in a situation to pursue a life goal. That part is neither here nor there though. I am wondering how I even would cash them. My first and middle name are changed (though the first three letters of my first name are the exact same, like Carson vs Carl, as an example of what I mean) but my last name is the exact same. All my documents have my current legal name, including my SSN card. I've never had a drivers license or passport with my birth name and my original SSN card and birth certificate no longer exist. The treasury website had how to do a married name change but I think my name might be too different for that to work, especially since it wasn't my last name that changed. Also, they're paper bonds, not electric.
Any advice for how to do this? Anyone had to go through this process before?
