I hope this is the right place to ask. I have fairly extensive Linux experience, but more on the server side. I've never been able to get the desktop end to meet my needs.
I am completely fed up with Windows 11's junk at this point. Sure, it runs everything, but I spend half my time fixing it. I switched my former business to all Ubuntu and magically I was able to focus on my actual job, not part time IT.
I'm hoping someone can chime in as to if the following are possible yet. I've done my homework, and can't find quite perfect solutions, but all of these are necessary to me switching:

1. Hardest one - Excel (and now, unfortunately, Outlook and Teams) - I feel like Libre is always a few steps behind, and with some new work I do, I absolutely have to work with Outlook and use Teams. It's regular work, and some is on my i7-1260p laptop, so I don't think running a VM is going to cut it :/
2. Easier one - I rely on switching between desktops using my Logitech mice's thumb wheels. I'm open to alternatives, but I definitely need a fast mouse-based way to switch between desktops quickly. I've run some kind of sketchy utilities that can do this before, but they seemed laggy.
3. Hard-ish one - I have some really really nice audio equipment and I'm picky about the audio streaming services I use. Currently Amazon Music because everything is FLAC and a lot is 24-bit sampling rate. Apparently the web interface doesn't support 24-bit, and some Electron app no longer works. I am open to switching services, but it's just with the amount I've invested in my audio setup, I want to have the best source I can. Amazon, as much as I can't stand them, seems to have the best blend of track library and sound quality. I hope this doesn't sound snooty, it's just a hobby that brings me a lot of happiness, and it's worth tolerating Windows just so I at least feel like I'm getting the most out of my audio equipment investment.

Thanks for any thoughts. I try desperately every 6 or so months to switch to Linux for a lot of reasons, but it feels like I can never make it work :/ If it says anything, I'm even willing to give up the Windows-only games I play just to move to something that's actually stable, consistent, and responsive.

Code 418 talks about the governostate's authority/emergency management during states of disaster. Looks normal, for the most part:

So why do they dislike it so much that they felt the need to add 'repealing it' to their platform?
Here's the part of the code they don't like, if I had to speculate correctly:
"Sec. 418.0125. LIMITATIONS ON MEDICAL PROCEDURES. (a) In this section, "nonelective medical procedure" means a medical procedure, including a surgery, a physical exam, a diagnostic test, a screening, the performance of a laboratory test, and the collection of a specimen to perform a laboratory test, that if not performed within a reasonable time may, as determined in good faith by a patient's physician, result in:
(1) the patient's loss of life; or
(2) a deterioration, complication, or progression of the patient's current or potential medical condition or disorder, including a physical condition or mental disorder.
(b) The Texas Medical Board during a declared state of disaster may not issue an order or adopt a regulation that limits or prohibits a nonelective medical procedure.
(c) The Texas Medical Board during a declared state of disaster may issue an order or adopt a regulation imposing a temporary limitation or prohibition on a medical procedure other than a nonelective medical procedure only if the limitation or prohibition is reasonably necessary to conserve resources for nonelective medical procedures or resources needed for disaster response. An order issued or regulation adopted under this subsection may not continue for more than 15 days unless renewed by the board.
(d) A person subject to an order issued or regulation adopted under this section who in good faith acts or fails to act in accordance with that order or regulation is not civilly or criminally liable and is not subject to disciplinary action for that act or failure to act.
(e) The immunity provided by Subsection (d) is in addition to any other immunity or limitation of liability provided by law.
(f) Notwithstanding any other law, this section does not create a civil, criminal, or administrative cause of action or liability or create a standard of care, obligation, or duty that provides the basis for a cause of action for an act or omission under this section."
....How I'm reading that, non-elective medical procedures (i.e., abortions that are required due to risks toward mother's health) would become legal during states of disaster, based on Healthcare provider's guidance. And they don't like that one bit. So they need to change it.
Is that correct? Am I "conspiracy-theorying" correctly?

I got the 2/3 torn scrolls in my inventory from my Master Clue, but my last Master task was in the deep wilderness, where I was promptly killed by a team of course. The part 3 of the clue scroll was never dropped?
Getting killed is no issue obviously, but suddenly I have banked the Torn Clue Scroll (Part 1) and Torn Clue Scroll (Part 3), but I never got the Torn Clue Scroll (Part 2) since I was killed.

Okay, I'm seeking a mod that allows me to rearrange or reorganize or remove parts of my kitchen furniture? Either as an upgrade/house modification from Robin (preferably paid. adding a whole room for free in an instant? girl, getchoo your coin. don't do work for free!) that can remove the left line of counters, and maybe move the things next to the fridge? Move the fridge too?
I know there's retexture mods, and I thought there used to be a 'build your own kitchen' mod (did I hallucinate that?) but nothing I can find for this.

Next, is there something that provides modular countertops? Along the left side and beside the fridge? Extending that, is there something that provides modular FUNCTIONAL cupboards/countertops so that they can work as cooking connected storage without having to have chests/mini fridges everywhere?

Am i just asking for too much? I asked about this before 1.6 (i think?) but I noticed some packs for furniture framework being posted and thought maybe some core coding got rewhozits'd or something.

I’m SO CLOSE to planting my newest native beds but I’m stumped on the sociability level of some species I want to include. There don’t seem to be any lists online ranking species from very well-behaved to very aggressive spreaders. That got me thinking… maybe we could collectively come together and share a tentative ranking?
In short, plant sociability was studied by Richard Hansen and Friedrich Stahl and they apparently published a list in their (now out of print and virtually impossible to find?) book Perennials and Their Garden Habitats:

• 1: behaved, grows singly
• 2: grouped or tufted, creeps a little
• 3: small patches, spreads moderately but won’t take over
• 4: large patches, spreads liberally but coexists with other species
• 5: great crowds or pure populations, dominates an area

I know from experience some rankings. Like that Baptisia spp are typically a 1 while Canada Goldenrod are a 5. But I’m really limited in my knowledge, considering how many natives there are out there.
Which brings me here. Since there are so many experienced gardeners and native plant enthusiasts in this subreddit, I thought you might all want to share your personal observations and conclusions?
To be clear, I know there are no straightforward answers. Plants behave differently under different conditions — stick a cup plant in shade or cattails in a dry spot and they won’t spread like crazy. So maybe we could consider some middle ground, like part-to-full sun and medium-moisture clay soils for mixed grass prairies in the central Great Plains?

I’m pretty new to MTG, getting into it to play with friends who have all been playing for a decent while now. So bear with me on things I don’t know.
I found a picture of Skullbriar and immediately was intrigued by the idea, especially after noticing one IRL at a card shop. So I’m trying to put together a decent Skullbriar deck to play against my friends. I have a semblance of a deck going on so far (largely borrowed from stuff I’ve watched online so far), but it could obviously be better after playing it a couple times.
Looking for any suggestions anyone may have, with these things kept in mind

1. So far, we only play on Tabletop Simulator (I live acrossed the US from my friends so it’ll be a hot second if ever before I can play with them IRL), so as of now price of any cards is not an objection
   
2. Any suggested cards are welcome advice, but ESPECIALLY ones that’ll help with draw power. The “maybeboard” on the connected deck is 99% dedicated to cards I’ve found so far for potential draw power. While I’m most interested in draw power, I am open to other super good synergies for the deck in general.
   
3. Go easy on me both with the deck as it is now as well as any suggestions where the benefit isn’t 100% obvious. As I said I’m new so I may not pick up on some interactions right away
   
4. I’d like Skullbriar to remain the commander. Having said that, if there’s some other commander out there that Skullbriar would be a good part of their deck, I’m open to that idea as well.

The title pretty much says it all, but I'd like to know everyone else's opinion.
I just cannot seem to get my PLA prints to adhere to the bed when the part cooling fan is running. When I turn it off, I have no problems. I've tried running at 20%, 15%, 5%, etc. Anytime the part cooling fan is running on the first few layers, the print will not hold to the bed. I typically run my PLA at 200 and have the bed at 60.
I am using fresh PLA from a vacuum sealed package, cleaned bed with isopropyl and acetone, leveled with 3 iterations using a 0.10 Starrett thickness gauge
I've tried keeping it off the first 3-4 layers, but once it kicks on (even only running at 10%), I see the print start to warp up and eventually disconnect form the bed.
Surely the amount that PLA shrinks cannot be causing this much of an issue 4-5 layers in, but I could be wrong. I don't want to do the math between the Van Der Waals forces of PLA vs SiO2 (doped with whatever else they use to make build plates) compared to the thermal expansion coefficient of PLA, but maybe my old chem engi degree could come in handy.
I don't want to lose the additional print quality a part cooling fan gives when printing PLA, but if I can't get it working, I make just become an ABS fanboy.

I am a TOTAL noob when it comes to the technical specs of these computer things, i know how to assemble and disassemble but i dont know the names and numbers, my "IdeaPad Gaming 3-15IHU6 - Type 82K1" is full on space, what ssd upgrades can i get lets just say 1-2tb, there is just so many options and i dont know what is compatible with this laptop, i would like to know what i can get and not have to worry about having ordered wrong parts and having to deal with returning it?

Long story short, a wind storm removed a handful of sections of tin roof allowing rain to leak into my house, which has ruined my dining room and belongings. For back story, it appears as if the dining room was an addition to the original blueprint of the house at some point long before I bought it.
When the contractors were gutting the room, they came across a litany of things not up to current code. A third party engineer came out and inspected it, giving a detailed list of things not up to code/require further inspection.
Direct list of things from the engineer’s report “We observed the following: -The addition framing does not match typical IRC framing methods. Permit research of the property did not show any permits for this type of work. -No hurricane ties are present at the roof rafter bearing. -The exterior wood studs are not continuous to the sill plate and the sill plate is stacked with gaps and offsets. Improper load path at wall framing. -The sill plates are not mechanically fastened to the foundation walls. Additionally, they do not match typical IRC detailing. -The floor joists rest directly on soil. The joists and sheathing are rotting from the top down. -The joists are not mechanically fastened to the foundation wall. -The foundation walls are ungrouted -The following architectural/MEP items were noted: -No apparent vapor barrier below the joists -Not adequate crawl space depth, per IRC code -No crawl space venting, appeared to be damp conditions below floor system -Floor and wall finishes appeared compromised due to the inability of proper air flow. -Unclear how the roof would be vented – if unvented, improper insulation techniques utilized -The roof slopes and roof intersections between them, as well as at the chimney, present inadequate water paths for drainage -Juncture of asphalt roofing to metal roofing is missing a high/low transition strip, therefore relying on adhesive sealants – prone to failure”
I have Law and ordinance (code upgrades) in my policy up to $40K, but my adjuster stated that they won’t cover any of the upgrades to things such as the improper foundation or framing since “they were not directly damaged from the peril” and instead currently plan on just covering the costs of redoing the drywall, flooring, and subfloor.
Perhaps I’m mistaken, but isn’t this exactly what code upgrades are for? If not in this specific instance, then when exactly are they used? I’m genuinely curious, because section 3 below makes me feel as if I’m entitled to utilize that portion of the policy given that I pay for it. The following text is directly from my insurance policy, specifically the law and ordinance subsection.
“Ordinance Or Law Coverage- If a loss by a PERIL WE INSURE AGAINST occurs to covered property, or the building containing the covered property, "we" will pay for the increased costs incurred due to the enforcement of any ordinance or law that is in force at the time of the loss. The maximum amount "we" will pay in any one loss is the amount shown on the "Declarations.” Payment is in addition to the amount of insurance applying to the loss.
"You" may use this coverage for: 1. the construction, demolition, renovation or repair of the portion of the building damaged by a PERIL WE INSURE AGAINST; 2. the demolition and reconstruction of the undamaged portion of the building if the entire building must be demolished because of damage by a PERIL WE INSURE AGAINST: 3. the removal or replacement of the undamaged portion of the building because of the repair or replacement of the portion of the building damaged by a PERIL WE INSURE AGAINST; 4. or the removal of debris resulting from the construction, demolition, renovation, repair or replacement of Item 1. 2. or 3.

Will somebody please help me break down exactly what that all means? Am I just being strong armed by my adjuster in order to keep the total claim amount low, or am I truly the one that has to foot the bill on those things?

So after almost 4 years with this client, I decided to discontinue my service with them. I worked for them for almost 4 years at sila lang talaga yung client ko. Magjowa to owning a business in AU. They hired me from Upwork but paid me through Wise. Never kami nagUpwork at sila naman mismo yung nag initiate. No issues sa salary and minimal issues sa workload pero ang hindi ko kinaya ay nung all of a sudden gusto nila ako ilagay sa Upwork. My issues were:

1. I find it disrespectful of my time. They expect me to be available from 7am to 3pm and yet hindi sya fully paid.
2. Masyadong intrusive yung monitoring.
3. Ang backward nung relationship. Kung yung most nilalabas sa Upwork ako naman nilalagay sa Upwork.
4. I accepted this work as fulltime and not part time.

After a few weeks, they accepted my resignation with a heavy heart daw and she told me that their business is under duress. I didn’t ask na kasi sa totoo lang nawalan ako ng gana sa kanila. With regard sa performance ko, wala silang masasabi. Ang dispatch ko ng orders ay 100% accurate. No issues sa perfomance nor attendance. Kahit may sakit ako nagwowork ako sa kanila dahil isa sa main lifeline ng business nila ay nakasalalay saken.

Who are we?
ANZSEC is a community aiming to a create realistic, player-driven, mutlifaceted milsim experience. Powered by a talented leadership and mission-making team, the ASEC experience is second to none.
Who do we play as?
We are based on a fictional department/corps of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Elements of our ORBAT, procedures and structure are inspired by the real life ADF, but have been gamified in order to create a fun, yet realistic experience in Arma.
We have a huge variety of weapons, camos, helmets, vests, facewear etc that means you can create a character that is uniquely your own, to the point where our members are often identified by sight only. Our high quality gear mod is created in house, with setups that are based on real-world modern examples.
We have a variety of trainings available, from FO, to medical, to CQB, etc. The only training you are required to complete is your ICT which takes about 30 mins-1 hour depending on your experience.
While our ORBAT consists of traditional company-level assets, we have spent time creating custom scripts and mods that make them both feasible and fun within the world of Arma. We utilise a custom version of R3F Logistics in order to have functional, reliable, and realistic logistics take place behind the front line, including the suppliment and repair of vehicles, provision of ammo and medical supplies, the building of FARPs/FOBs etc. This means that while our infantry sections are fighting the battle, our logistics and rotary detachments are keeping them moving.

Official operations are primarily focused on realism within either the modern setting or a historic setting allowing us to partake in different time periods as ANZSEC. Meanwhile. Unofficial operations have the ability to use any concept the mission creator desires, from futuristic to fantasy allowing unlimited creative freedom.

Tenho 29 anos e só esse ano decidi tirar carteira de motorista. Não pretendo dirigir mas já estive em situações que faria diferença poder pegar no volante, principalmente porque eu não costumo beber. Nunca tinha pego num carro antes então teve aí a curva de aprendizado. Ontem fiz o simulado lá no percurso que é RIDÍCULO, deve ser o percurso mais fácil do Brasil inteiro. Fiz várias vezes e não errei nada, o instrutor tava todo prosa. Baliza nunca foi um problema, eu só fazia nas aulas para desencargo de consciência mesmo porque sempre acertava tudo rapidinho.
Pois bem chegou hoje na prova eu nem me considerei nervoso mas na hora da baliza estacionei o carro torto tive que ajeitar, ainda tinha tempo sobrando mas depois que o cara falou que tava torto fiquei nervoso de verdade simplesmente ESQUECI de que lado virava o volante. Fiquei indo para frente e para trás igual um maluco sem sair da posição. Faltando 20 segundos entrei mais dentro da vaga o cara fez meio que um "hmmm tá dentro, vambora". Daí na hora de fazer o trajeto final que é a parte mais idiota eu não sei como mas ao invés de colocar a terceira eu coloquei a primeira. 20h de aula + 3h de simulado nunca rolou isso, tinha que ser na prova.
Daí a avaliadora "Você colocou a marcha errada :/"
E eu já "To reprovado? 😭😭"
E ela "Não, mas perde 2 pontos"
Isso eu já tava quase no cone final que tem que parar, só que agora tava na primeira marcha e precisa terminar na terceira e não pode ter freada brusca. Eu só pensei comigo mesmo "Vim até aqui vamos arriscar" pisei fundo no acelerador, passei segunda imediatamente passei a terceira imediatamente freei, embreagem, tensão. Ninguém falou nada, botei no ponto morto, puxei o freio de mão, desliguei a seta, desliguei o carro.
A moça:
"teve só aqueles 2 pontos mas você tá aprovado"
Juro eu fiquei tão abalado na hora que só peguei o papel saí do carro abracei lá o instrutor mas eu devia ter me ajoelhado e agradecido a mulher porque a forma como ela falou dos pontos foi num tom que super me deu confiança para fazer essa maluquice (que, nesse caso, era a coisa certa a se fazer) de acelerar faltando 50m para o fim do percurso, eu jamais teria coragem de fazer isso em outro contexto foi adrenalina pura.
Moral da história:

1. Não subestimem a atenção na hora da prova
2. O avaliador faz toda diferença
3. Na hora de passar a terceira marcha, não seja um troglodita bruto por conta do nervosismo, tem que empurrar com os dedinhos igual uma princesa britânica tomando chá

Platform(s): It was a Desktop game, not sure if it was on Windows or Mac. I believe it either came with the computer or it was a free download of sorts? Reason being I played it on my Dad's work computer. It's also possible it was a free trial demo.
Genre: FPS
Estimated year of release: Late 90's or Early 00's. Without a doubt before 2002, as we moved that year.
Graphics/art style: 3D graphics, a lot like Half-Life in terms of textures. It's possible it was lower quality and my kid brain made it seem more polished. My memory is that there were also brief cutscenes similar to the moving cutscene portions of Majestic, Part 1: Alien Encounter (but it was FPS, not point-and-click).
Notable characters: The only character I remember seeing is the player you end up controlling, during a cutscene before gameplay begins. The world was quite empty, and seemed to really just connect you from boss fight to boss fight. The only enemies I remember were massive -- one was a huge preying mantis looking creature that popped out of a pool of (green? red?) lava, surprising the hell out of my brother and me. The other was a giant arachnid with a soft weak spot on its underside.
Notable gameplay: I hazily remember some sort of cutscene where you are in outer space and dropped off in a cave / tunnel network. As you move down the tunnel (perhaps floating forward with a jetpack) you arrive in a cavernous room with a lava pool in the middle. As you approach the pool -- BOOM! A huge ugly green preying mantis alien pops out. Time to start shooting. Similar with the huge arachnid -- though I don't remember the location clearly.
Other details: I vaguely recall seeing a green splatter effect when shooting the creatures. I also remember a high pitched wheeze/screech when you hit its weak spot.
I've scoured the web and Reddit for all sorts of alien FPS games from that era but haven't yet found it.

I wanted this to be a discussion thread for anecdotes but it turned into a very long rant instead, oops.
I'll start off with saying that something I've observed through years of navigating The System™ as a former CPS kid, is that:

1. Therapists all seem to operate from a baseline wherein all your problems exist in a perfectly compartmentalized vacuum. A lot of what is practiced in the majority of psychotherapy modalities (the only ones I haven't done are ECT/TMS because I draw a hard line at lobotomy-once-removed. I was also greenlit for ketamine infusions but I'm fucking sick of drugs robbing me of my senses.) can only work for extremely specific problems on extremely specific types of people.
2. It is up to the therapist to decide what your "big T" and "small T" traumas are, and all interactions will be structured off their perception and therefore biases. They often dismiss their clients' concerns, and always deflect with varying degrees of hostility when confronted.
3. They can't actually help you in any material capacity and may even be detrimental when you already have adequate insight into your issues and viable solutions in your own best interest.
4. The profession in itself is a neoliberalist non-solution to societal ills. They are always most preoccupied with getting you to Do The Work™ (i.e. societal assimilation), and any ideologies or personalities that deviate from their dominant cultural accepted narrative is vilified. Per bread and circuses, it will always be in the best interest of the ruling class to do whatever will keep the masses zombified into subservience and thus only ever manufacture problems and sell partial solutions that cause more problems. Something, something, imagine Sisyphus happy...
5. To quote Jenny Holzer, "Abuse of power comes as no surprise." The nature of vulnerable sector professions is that they unfortunately will draw in high achievers who (sub)consciously live for power dynamics. Those who are able to remain in the profession long term and not burn out, anyway. Some of the worst people I've personally met have been varying flavors of medical professionals, and that says a lot given that I was physically/psychologically tortured and sexually abused by my father for most of my life.

But yeah anyway, some of the shit that therapists have said with me still haunts me but in a "hahaha what the fuck" kind of way lmao.
There was one who said to me in earnest that I need to "stop listening to Coldplay and reading about climate change" when I expressed I don't see any reasons that I should participate in a collapsing society.
Another suggested that "it might help to get a grocery buggy" after disclosing that I hate being reliant on my abusive relatives for most of my essential needs because of lack of money/physical & mental capacity, in full view of her Burberry coat and BMW parked outside the window.
A few not worth mentioning would always either project their own relationship with ethnic immigrant parents onto me with bullshit like "our parents raised us the best they could" (OMG I didn't know I had a long lost sibling that they raised in secret!!! /s), or they would get obnoxiously fixated on some aspect that doesn't impact me the way they almost wanted it to? As if I would be easier for them to deal with if I was their uni textbook case study, rather than a real person with a messy background.
Most infuriatingly, my autism specialist, with a PhD in social work, kept insisting that I "belong in a university setting". She is a uni lecturer herself, and it was mostly because she personally found me "the most intruiging client [she's] had", on top of my full psych eval reporting an approximate IQ of 136.
I literally failed certain portions when it came to visual-spatial, motor, and interpersonal attributes. IQ is so bullshit anyway because it doesn't take into account how someone was raised whatsoever. Fucking duh you're going to have a "vastly superior" verbal quotient if your parents never socialized with you, left you with books as company while expecting you to be their translator.
No matter how hard I tried to drill home that I have irreparable academic trauma, never done well in any sort of academic setting in the first place, and knowing what my own limitations are, the autism specialist would chalk it up to "learned helplessness, because clearly [I] have sooo much untapped potential".
And it's not like I haven't tried everything everyone's suggested on my own terms, and came to the conclusions I have? Why the fuck would I want to embody society's idea of a failure and make my own life harder??? I am the least masochistic person I know lol, it's like none of them ever understood anything I had to say. They'll just say these things like there's a magic formula that will somehow guarantee a good life for everyone, when the reality is that not even people who don't have significant impairments, can't all "make it".
The most fucked part is that for all they bellow about Theory of Mind™ til their face turns blue, they are hilariously self-unaware that they can preach these things because every damn person I've known who's been able to achieve a MSW is naturally "high octane" and/or lives an immensely privileged life in some way or another. And it just so happens that everyone in their immediate circle is just like that, too. So from a physiological standpoint, they are ironically incapable of understanding why their clients are seemingly "helpless", which...well, kind of proves point 5 of my therapy theories lol. If they really wanted to make the world a better place, they would start by, IDK, radical reform of societal structure to render their profession obsolete--just saying ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, if you've tried everything under the sun and none of it has worked out, it's because we live in a philosophical hell simulation, not because there is anything inherently wrong with you. You are the highest authority on your own experiences, and literally everything is normal. All the physics and philosophy throughout history can't reach consensus whether or not "objective reality" exists, so all that really matters is whatever matters most to you.
I wish these were affirmations I came across long before I was spiritually declawed for being an "unsympathetic" traumatized kid. Thank you for reading if you've made it this far, and I hope you've made some of your own peace wherever you are.
