Well, whaddya know? this game slaps! Wish Kid me would know that, because this is one game I never rented because I didn't really like Star Wars at the time.
No really, I know that games based on movie properties get a very bad rep from the 8bit gen (and for a very good reason), but this version of Star Wars is legit.
Developed by originally for the NES by Victor Entertainment and later ported to the Master System by Tiertex, this game is a damn good effort to translate the original Star Wars into a video game, and the music, original text scroll and even a quick cinematic of a Star Destroyer pursuing the rebel ship puts the player in the right mood for some Star Wars.
Then we get to the game, and yes, 8bit movie adaptation you're gonna get a platformer, as it was praxis of the time. But a good platformer, even if the jumping gets some time to get used to, as it you gain a lot of momentum in the air, but in time you learn and movement will come naturally.
And it is a good thing, because you will do a lot of platforming and exploration when your start the game, as you a dropped in tatooine in Luke's speedster to explore the region, searching the area for multiple objectives, like rescuing R2-D2 from the Sand Crawler, meeting Obi-Wan and getting the lightsaber, and even getting some of the millenium falcon shields to be later used in the asteroid field stage. And you are free to explore as much as you want till you leave Tatooine.
But my biggest surprise in this game wasn't the open level design, but that you can also play with other characters than Luke. You can also play as Han Solo and Princess Leia, who have better blastters than Luke, and better yet, they all have their own health bars and you can change who you play with on the fly. But here's a warning, unlike Luke, if Han and Leia die, you don't get those characters back, they are gone. Still, that was fun all hell.
Not so fun though: the Millenium falcon/X-wing stages. There isn't much to talk about these, as you take a first person view and have to avoid asteroids or shoot Tie fights, but you can never really tell if the hit boxes you the enemies are in line to damage you, and you get that annoying feeling that you don't know why are you taking hits, and then start moving the cursor around, hoping for the best.
Still, that doesn't really take much away from this great Star Wars game. Yes, some of the later stages in the Death Star have some lame door labyrinth sections, and the couple of "bosses" in the game are rather lacking, but Star Wars keeps it short enough to not drag the players into boredom and frustration.
And presentation wise there are a bunch to be liked here. The colors are bright as you expect from a Master System game, but the stages all have this great atmosphere, from the Tatooine caves, to the Mos Eisley Canteen and the Death Star, all these locals have their own identity. And the game even goes the extra steps, like when you change players to either Han or Leia, the stage music changes to each character theme. That's a nice touch that goes a long way to endear the player.
Great game, the Force is, indeed, strong with this one.

2023.03.15 01:18 Dodger7777 pickaxes: an idea

Despite each of the dwarves being unique members of the crew, and even their armor has an individual option, I like that all of the dwarves can be equal with the humble pickaxe.
However, I would like to see something more. So here are some overclock ideas. Please tell me what you think, any overclock ideas of your own, or if you think this is dumb. All opinions welcome.
1 Big Hamma "Don't make me bring the hammer down." (Unstable)
Increase impact radius
Increase damage
Increase power attack cd
Decrease swing speed
(One hit from this would break terrain enough to walk through. Downside: it's so slow that you'd still be faster with a normal pickaxe.)
2 Dual wield "Well I do have two hands." (Balanced)
Decrease individual pickaxe damage.
Double swing speed (alternating)
Power attack no change or increase cd (both at once)
3 Nordic "my ancestors, I see them!" (Unstable)
Pickaxe can now be thrown (similar to driller impact axes) (double click mine button)
You can call back your pickaxe (magic or magnets? Similar process to engi turrets positioning. Not sure if you should have to remain stationary, or just be slowed, can't be recalled until it lands) (mine after pickaxe has been thrown)
Special distance power attack (power attacking while it's flying would be nice, but difficult to pull off. Maybe have the 'recall pickaxe' be if pickaxe is not in the air and and tries to mine, then recall which would translate to if mine button is pressed and attack button is pressed and power attack is not on cd then power attack which would allow for a Ranged power attack. It's be interesting.)
4 The classic (clean)
Basic increases to stats. Nothing special but also a good quality of life if you like the basic or don't want anything special.)
5 Poleaxe (clean)
Increased reach
Base Attack damage Increase (influences power attack damage too)
Swing speed Decrease
Pole vault jump (if you mine and jumping you do a big hop, fall damage still applies)
6 Hand crank (alternatively: the lance or lance armstrong) (balanced) (this would screw up pickaxe customization so it might not work, alternatively the 'teeth' on the drill become your customized thing. It'd be weird.) "RnD found an antique."
An old style drill that you hand crank
Boosted mining speed, hard to turn while using
Decreased pickaxe damage
Boosted enemy stun chance
Power attack does a short distance sprint (if you have Berserker then you could probably cover the same distance as the actual sprint)
(This could take the form of a circular saw or drill I guess. Like the big mining saw thing.)
7 Lightsaber (unstable) (this might screw up pickaxe e customization so it might not work, alternatively the color is just hard forced to a neon. Like the glowing parts of neon band, but on the picks.) (Secondary problem depending on mining speed, seizure warning)
Produces light
Does additional fire damage
Otherwise identical to normal pickaxe.
8 sonic resonator pack "Good thing we can't hear this." (Unstable)
When you hit something with your pick you will be stunned for a few seconds, like.. a while. (5-7 second for enemies at least)
Vibrations break terrain three parts beyond where it hit as it resonates.
Vibrations go through veins and break the whole vein while you are stunned.
Vibrations go through creatures and do massive armor break but only minimum damage. It does stun bugs hit.
Power attacks deal sonic damage in a wave in front of the slam, stunning enemies and doing a lot of armor damage without stunning you.
(This one sounds a little OP, the self stun duration would probably be a while to balance)
If it can be stunned, the thing you pickaxe is also stunned. However the others aren't.
9 Cleave Augment "like a hot knife through warm butter." (Unstable)
Move your cursor in a way to drag the pick though things. (This one would be most difficult to implement imo, thought it could be similar to guiding rockets with the huricane.)
Leaves a gouge in terrain, minerals, and enemies.
Can hit multiple targets
Power attack is now a spinning attack with increased knockback.
Reduced armor break
Bonus weak point damage.

2023.02.11 22:28 Disastrous_Lychee_17 Do you know, that terraria has lightsabers?

Lightsabers in terraria are a relic of the past, they are outclassed by literally every other melee weapon available at the same moment in progression, and have nothing unique to them.
My idea for them is:
  1. Increase swing speed for them, because they are painfully slow for the jedi weapon of choice.
  2. Every enemy projectile hit with a phaseblade or phasesaber should be reflected in the direction of the cursor. This includes things that you normally couldn’t interact with like stingers or lasers, not only mage balls that you could destroy.
  3. Phase Sabers will deal additional damage with reflected projectiles.
I don’t know why it wasn’t implemented before as it's so star wars to reflect projectiles back at your enemies. It would give more of a supportive role to melee which would be nice in pre-hardmode. I'm all for more supporting items in the game.

Hi, I've been having this problem for a long time and I really don't know what mod causes it.
When shooting from the hip in first person with alien blaster it uses the aiming animation and in bad position and stays for a couple of seconds, and when aiming it doesn't use the aiming animation, it only uses a zoom and when shooting it does use the aiming animation but this time it doesn't take a few seconds to return to its hip animation.

2022.08.19 13:11 OrganizationLatter76 Black screen in KOTOR 1 on Kashyyyk at specific point. Happens every single time.

I'm in the Lower Shadowlands right now, just got Jolee in my party and we went through the Czerka barrier. After I'm done with the Mandalorians attacking the Wookiee, however, the screen goes black, as if it's unable to load a dialogue sequence. You can still hear the background noise, you can see the cursor, you can get to the pause menu, but you can't progress.

What I've already tried:
I'm gonna assume it has something to do with mods, but I'm not uninstalling any of them, or restarting my playthrough. What can I do besides that? Some console command, or something, perhaps, to force the cutscene to trigger anyway, or maybe even bypass it?

I have an idea to make the Phaseblades much more unique instead of just being a plain boring lightsaber. Adding elemental based debuffs for Phaseblades would make them a tad bit different from each other. However come hard mode, if you upgrade your phaseblade into a phasesaber, each upgrade will not only keep the same debuff, but will also have new unique alternate attack patterns. Think of Megaman Zero EX skills for the Z-Saber.
Combining all the phasesabers with late hardmode materials will result into the creation of the Zeta Phasesword, a green saber whose blade looks like a cursor, will inflict random debuffs from its components, and you will be able to choose which alt attacks you want with a small interface.

2022.07.17 05:30 bebobeba [Mobile] [2004-2012] A Star Wars game on an old Blackberry cell phone, it used an overhead pov and was 16/32 bit art style.

This is a huge shot in the dark.
The phone was a blackberry, (dont know specifics) that had a little track-ball in the middle to use as the cursor, similar to old computer mouses but very tiny and obviously a tiny keyboard like our prehistoric cells used to have. The phone also came with a game called Brick Breaker
The game was Star Wars, you played as a jedi (possibly luke?) with a blue lightsaber, with a 16 or 32 bit artstyle.
I remember very little of this game but if someone can find it that would be insane.

2022.05.01 20:01 SFArtAndDesigns What exactly does “Unsupported” really mean? My findings so far

I got my Steam Deck a week ago today and like many people I’ve been wondering for months just what “unsupported” means. So far there appear to be three basic categories of unsupported games: VR games that will never work, multiplayer games that use an anti-cheat system that is totally out of Valve’s hands and is up to developers to add support, and a mysterious third category only described as “Valve is still working on adding support for this game”. Pretty much all of my games in the unsupported list fall into this catch-all category, since I don’t play multiplayer games.
I wasn’t really in any hurry to investigate this yet, due to how many supported and untested games I wanted to try first and the fact that there isn’t much free space on my 64GB Steam Deck. But then when redeeming some old Humble Bundle keys I accidentally installed a game without realizing it was unsupported, so I figured that since it was already installed I might as well try it and find out. It launched and played, so then I decided to start investigating further and try out some other unsupported games to see what’s causing them to be considered unsupported.
I think I should probably go ahead and wrap this up for now. I still have several other games in my “unsupported” list that I plan to try, and I can make another post like this detailing what I’ve found if anyone’s interested, but for now I’m low on SSD space and most of the other games are much larger installs that won’t fit on my Steam Deck until I delete some other games or get an SD card.
But the bottom line TL;DR is that, from my admittedly very small sample size, “unsupported” almost never means truly unplayable. Almost all of these games can be made to launch and run, many of them work perfectly with no obvious issues at all and others have some very minor setup required to get things working right. Obviously this doesn’t apply to VR games or multiplayer games that use an incompatible anti-cheat, but if you’ve been wanting to try one of the many games that still says Valve is working on adding support go ahead and try it, chances are it will work at least in some capacity.
I honestly think Valve should make a new category for games that can be fully playable but will require tinkering to get them working and will run fine after that, because it feels wrong to call a game unsupported when it literally only takes five seconds of changing the default control scheme to get it working perfectly. But then again the kind of person willing to spend some time tinkering isn’t going to be deterred by “Unsupported”. But especially with larger games it would be nice to know for sure whether a game just has minor solvable issues or is truly a lost cause that won’t be playable at all before spending all the time and bandwidth downloading it.

Most people forget the phaseblades exist and it's because they're pretty bland as a weapon. They could be so cool, but they end up just being a weird sword that goes 'woom' when you swing it that has zero benefits and is replaced by much better weapons by the point they're obtainable anyway. I have a few proposed changes (not like it's ever going to happed do to no more updates) but it'd be interesting to see:
  1. Upon equipping in the hotbar: small grey hilt in players hand turns on with a 'vwoom-ish sound' and the phaseblade is now 'on' (this process happens immediately upon equipping, as to have as little delay as possible).
  2. after activation, the phaseblade stays on, and points toward the cursor. The phaseblade emits a very quiet droning/humming sound when equipped. It also emits a small amount of light, which color is based on the color of the blade.
  3. Upon clicking, the weapon is swung. It has 2 attacks depending on the mouse button clicked. LMB click is a quick swing, and RMB click is a quick stab, which lunges the character toward the cursor rapidly for a few blocks with the blade locked pointing in the direction of the lunge, almost like a self-propelled lance, doing damage to enemies hit with the phaseblade. After the distance has been moved, the character slows, the blade no longer does damage, and can be moved again. The lunge has a 3 second recharge time.
  4. When the weapon is unequipped, it immediately makes a 'shhk' sound and disappears from the characters hands.
I think that a fundamental change in the way phaseblades work would seriously help them rise from the current lack of use they find themselves in. Most people don't use them because there's better weapons and they aren't very interesting as they are right now. With a change like this, they could be very fun to use, and could have potential PVP purposes, as well as movie re-creation. Though these changes might never get implemented (or might be severely tweaked due to balancing) I think it would be very cool to see them changed to be more fun and interesting for players to use.

While some of the Force spec moves don't require a spec item equipped, other moves do, in which the Lightsaber spec item can be bought for $1,000. The Lightsaber works the same as the Pluck sword. The color of the Lightsaber is chosen at random, but can be specifically chosen by talking to Luke again.

C - Force Push - Requires Force charge to use. User pulls their arm back for as long as the key is held, and then releases a repulsive blast upon the key being released. Enemies are dealt 14 damage upon contact and send flying. The range and knockback power of Force Push is dependent on how long the key is held for, but the move can be canceled out if the user is ragdolled while charging the move. Can be blocked, but at max power, Force Push can block break. Force Push uses up more Force charge as its charged
V - Passionate Strike - Requires Lightsaber equipped to use. User lifts up their lightsaber and strikes downward, dealing up to 26.7 damage and ragdolls. Is unblockable, similar to Scarlet Overdrive
B - Force Choke - Requires Force charge to use. User gestures, and enemies within a wide cone in front of the user will begin to get force choked in the air, slowly taking constant 3.5 damage. The user can then slowly move around while holding the force choke, and can still block. However, the choking targets are invulnerable to other attacks, and the user can't use any other moves. Force Choke uses up Force charge as its held. Force Choke can be blocked
N - Mind Trick - Requires Force charge to use. User gestures, and nearby enemies in front of the user will be Mind Tricked, having their controls inverted for a few moments, and will have reduced movement speed. Can be blocked
X - Saber Throw - Requires Lightsaber equipped to use. User throws their lightsaber at the cursor, which then spins back, dealing 15 damage against targets upon contact. Can be "deflected" [attack is parried but doesn't stun the user], but otherwise breaks block
Z - Force Leap - Can only be used if Standless. Requires Force charge to use. User is able to launch themselves a good distance into the air. Works much like Stand Leap

Like if the game had loaded behind the screen but it wasn't showing it. I clicked around on the screen and I clicked what sounded like a lightsaber and blaster. Probably Changes, Peace Talks and Battle Ground, I mean I kind of see Peace Talks and Battle Ground as the same book because originally they were but it was just too big and clunky.

What does Robert B Parker write?
He is the author of the Spenser private eye series, so all of the Spenser movies, all the tv shows, they all come from his books. He's kind of my hero as a writer, he didn't even start until he was in his 40s and then he just started writing and turning out these books on a regular basis, he actually died at the keyboard like a man, that I how I want to go out you know, doing something cool like that. But yeah he was my favourite writer and he passed five or six years ago.
So besides Robert B Parker if you had a chance to write any other author's universe, play in that sandbox, which one would it be and why?

Now I've heard this story a lot in the comments of the videos I've made for your books, the story about the professor that basically inspired you to write the Dresden Files, did you stay in touch with this gentleman?
With her, Debbie Chester, we trade emails occasionally still. Most recently she published her book which is called "The Fantasy Fiction Formula" and it's- she's the one who taught me everything I needed to know to write so for you wannabe writers out there check out "The Fantasy Fiction Formula" by Debora Chester. But yeah she was the one who inspired me to do the Dresden Files. I'd been writing swords and horses fantasy in her class for years and she was like "when you're talking to me about story structure you're always talking Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you're always talking about Babylon 5, maybe you should try writing something that's kind of in that same kind of genre, maybe you would enjoy that". And I was like "I am a /fantasy/ author" excuse me so I resisted what she was trying to tell me to do for a very long time. Storm Front origin story from here
Do you ever think about writing a hard space science fiction series?
Oh I already have, or at least I started writing one. It's called US Marshals which I decided- I set it 200 years in the future and the Earth has colonies on the moon and Io and Mars and stations at the Lagrange Points and asteroid mining going on and the entire system got tired of dealing with all the people on Earth who have no idea what their problems are like when their problems are like "we need air". That's the kind of problem Earthers are not going to understand so eventually they took a power collection satellite, they wrote "don't tread on me" across the Gobi Desert in letters thirty feet high and they declared independence from the Earth and declared themselves the United System and I did that just so I could have US Marshals as the protagonists.
So they're the United System Marshals and they're the only ones who know about the aliens. Earth is sort of on the receiving end of the Prime Directive but instead of being in a nature preserve it's more like a hunting preserve because when contact is outlawed only the outlaws make contact so the only aliens who show up are guys doing illegal stuff, religious fanatics, political refugees, weird scientists doing weird experiments that are unauthorised by the Federation you know, that sort of thing. Those are the only aliens we see and the marshals are the ones that have to deal with them.
This is a book that I can get and read?
No no, the first one is like three quarters written, I stopped writing it to start the Alera series (the only polite thing I can say is thank fuck this never got off the ground). I left my protagonist floating in a decaying orbit over the moon with his ship about to go critical behind him and a solar flare coming on and he's been there for like ten years.
Wow, well I'd be interested in hearing if he gets out of that situation. What beer in our reality is most similar to Mac's ale?

Who is your favourite villain to write in the Dresden Files and why is it Nicodemus?
Nicodemus is a load of fun because he's the guy that will do anything, that's kind of his schtick so it's always fun to have him there because I'll sit down and brainstorm just the worst things he could possibly do that day and try and figure out how to work that into the book then after I do that, he's a lot of fun. Mab is a whole ton of fun I regard her as a villain. Marcone is probably the most fun to write because he's the guy who is- he has the limited resources and the naked will against all these creatures of incredible power everywhere.
You know Death Masks was the one where I really was like all in the series because I felt like Nicodemus could have been the big bad on a season of Buffy, I stick by that. Now Marcone is just like the coolest cat in the world, we all kind of want to be him.
I have so much fun with that character man, writing the end of Battle Ground was such a blast.
Yes that was a trip, at first I was like "god damn it no" and then it was like "oh yes...?" so what music do you listen to while writing and would you consider putting out a playlist on Spotify like Brandon Sanderson does?
I guess if I could figure out how. Depends what I'm writing, Dresden gets lots of heavy metal and the heavy metal that I like is often covers of other songs that are very not heavy metal songs but somebody did a heavy metal cover and that's something I enjoy, when I'm writing the steampunk I write almost exclusively to Lindsay Stirling, the violinist. I don't know if you've heard her albums but they're fun.
Who is your favourite not-Harry character you've created and how did you envision this character while you were creating them? Please be Marcone.
Marcone was an accident. He started off as kind of a throwaway gangster guy and then I decided well his opening was too cool to leave him like because we opened with a soulgaze on Marcone, it's like "okay no if I'm gonna make this guy a human predator then he's going to be a tiger and you will always have to be afraid of him, period. And that meant that he was going to have to grow in proportion to Dresden otherwise he would not be someone who is scary so Marcone as he's been going he's been gathering resources and various abilities to influence the world around him even though he can't do it Dresden's way, he has the advantage of he has no limits, or at least very few limits so off he goes to get things done. That's always terribly fun, writing Marcone because I can stop and think "okay if I was going up against this wizard how would I manage it?, alright now let me stop and think." I'll go and contact some of my sneaky friends and say "alright sneaky guys how do I do this?" and they tell me to have him operate this way.
As a comic book guy I always- the comparison I always make to those two is some of the best issues of Superman him and Lex Luthor had to work together so you've got Harry and Marcone having to work together, and they work really good together it just puts a smile on my face I love it.
Yeah that's a lot of fun to write, frenemies is the best.

Any advice for new writers based on your experiences is there anything you would advise new writers not to do, or avoid?
Avoid anything that keeps you from getting new writing done. I mean, no matter what you're doing you should be getting new material published so if you start getting into a place where you are continually revising and editing old stuff you're not learning anything new and you need to stop doing that and start writing new stuff as well. So always be generating new material that's how you learn and grow as a writer. Don't let anything get in the way of you making new stuff.
This is kind of a long one, let me make sure I'm reading this right, what have you found to be both and advantage and a disadvantage of telling a story the size of the Dresden Files from the first person point of view of Harry?
Well the great advantage is is that Dresden's point of view is so limited and kind of ignorant that I can sort of adjust things on the fly because things are happening behind the scenes that I know are happening but Dresden doesn't know are happening and if necessary I can look back on it and go "oh wait let me just pick this bad guy up and put him over here and that one over here because the audience can't see it yet anyway and this will be a nicer setup for later on in the story" so that's kind of the good part is that Dresden is so... he's kind of so blinkered that there's all kinds of things happening that he doesn't know about that I know about as a writer. So it's convenient for me so I can rearrange things along the way.
The problem of course is that Dresden is a character who is so limited and blinkered that I can only show the things that are right in front of him and I'm very limited in what I can present to the audience in terms of the various overstory that's going on because basically the only way for the audience to find out is for Dresden to wander into the middle of it and step on a landmine, that's how the audience finds out about it.
I know in Side Jobs you wrote some stories from some different characters' points of views, have you ever thought about writing one from like third person omniscient or anything like that? Just to see what it felt like?
For the Dresden Files? No I couldn't. I mean Dresden Files is very much, I mean it's funny because I have a different experience of it than everybody else because in my head I can see all these other characters and their stories and their viewpoints and their view of Dresden and the White Council and everything and it's all so different than Dresden's attitudes about things. And people are /afraid/ of Dresden it's not like they casually go up and challenge what he thinks about the world on a regular basis. I mean he's the guy who can melt you if he gets really upset, do you really want to go talk politics with him? No probably not, you can probably skip that and be just as happy.
Well yeah there's only one guy who can soulgaze with a kraken and the kraken's scared of him, right.
Well essentially yeah. That was more a starborn thing but anyway. There you go free one for the audience.
If you could finish ASOIAF for GRRM what would be the last sentence?
I don't know I haven't read it. The last sentence will be a lot better than D&D anyway, right?

What advice would you give to a new and struggling Dungeons and Dragons player who only knows how to be a Barbarian because he just wants to punch everyone in the face, what would be your advice to someone to get better at Dungeons and Dragons?
Play lots of characters, I'm the sort of person who gets bored and switches characters every month or so in a weekly D&D game chuckles. GMs just roll their eyes at me all the time but yeah play more characters and enjoy it, think your way through the character that you're playing you know, figure out if he's gonna be a dummy. Don't try and be the cool guy in the party, try and be the loser in the party it's so much fun. If you're the guy who's so dumb you're causing problems for everyone then that is a much more interesting game than if you're playing Captain White Bread.
I was told not to ask you about the fourth edition of Dungeons and Dragons, I think they said you believed it was like the new coke?

I watched a panel a while back right when I'd first gotten into Dresden Files, I also like the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown a lot and you two were doing a panel together I think somewhere in like Arizona this was like back in 2016 I think and I noticed in that panel that you kept- when people would ask you about Dresden you'd be like "yeahyeahyeah" and you'd answer it and then they'd ask you a question about Dungeons and Dragons and you were real enthusiastic about it and it's like "I think this guy really wants to play some Dungeons and Dragons" so it got me thinking, what is your favourite D&D class and what class to you gravitate towards the most? I know you say you like to change it up a lot but which one do you find yourself falling back into easily?
I almost always play spellcasters. I like playing characters that can cause chaos and rearrange the battlefield a lot, lot of crowd control type characters are what I enjoy playing because the tactical effect is much larger with that character. So I enjoy playing anybody who's a spellcaster I enjoy playing clerics because I like playing characters with a southern accent and preaching to the monsters and stuff like that, that's always fun.
See I was new to it and I felt like right when I was starting to get the hang of it I went out and bought me some nice metal dice and a nice metal character and all that stuff and then covid happened and now we can't get together and play anymore so.
Yeah makes it much more difficult, lots of Zoom D&D.
Would you ever consider visiting the Codex Alera universe again?
the usual answer about potentially going back when the Protoss equivalents arrive a few centuries later or going back to a cursor academy right after the series ended and showing how the world changed
Will you be writing a redemption arc for officer Rudolph?
Writing a redemption arc for officer Rudol-starts laughing I don't know yet, we'll see what happens to Rudy. I could see Rudy winding up on a Stone Table at some point.
I don't think anybody would be mad about that really.

Why is the Furies of Calderon hardcover so goshdarned expensive?
I do not know. It's hardest to find because they printed fewer copies of that than any other hardback that I've ever had come out so that's probably why. Technically that was my very first hardback book was Furies of Calderon I think they only printed six or eight thousand of that first one so it's sort of hard to find.
Leaning onto that one, will there ever be a hardcover re-release or first release for some of the earlier books in the Dresden Files series?
Oh I'm sure there will be you know how corporations are, I mean Penguin's a corporation like everybody else I'm sure they'll want to do some kind of special release when we get to the end. Maybe I can talk them into doing some kind of release where they'll release two or three novels in a hardback omnibus edition, that might be kind of nice.
After I buckled and bought all the trade paperbacks I'm sure now they'll probably just go ahead and do that.
Yeah exactly "here all new hardbacks, matching covers, if you line them up they all- the art makes new art", like that.
As a book collector I can't say no to things like that.
Exactly, exactly. Preying on all the poor OCD kids.
Alright, do you find it hard to kill of your characters or do you really get joy out of making your readers cry? For example in Battle Ground, why Jim why?
Look, I torture my characters because I'm not legally allowed to torture any readers. So the only way I can get to them is through the characters, as long as I have the characters and do mean things to them I can get to you guys too and that's really what this is all about for me.
Well hearing how you described your favourite season of Buffy I think I got the answer to that, yeah I think he likes ripping your soul out just a little bit.
I do, that's what you're all paying me for.
Indifference I think, as a writer- the worst thing would be indifference if you killed a big character and everybody was kind of like *shrugs*
Oh yeah, I don't mind when people get upset about character deaths, that's the best thing ever. That's heroin for writers.
Battle Ground was kind of rough for me, got the advance reader copy and I was like- this sounds like complaining about having too much money to some people but I was like- you know how much it sucked having to be quiet about that for a month and not being able to react to this you guys.
Oh my god I had to wait a year after I wrote it before I finally started getting audience response from it.

Well you know, some of that but it's to be expected.

Is Pizza Express based on any specific pizza place?
Oh my gosh it is and I forgot the name of it but I had three or four friends of mine who were LARPers along with me back in the day- back in college and they all worked at the pizza place and the way travel would work out is we'd be traveling to a LARP, we'd be traveling from Oklahoma City to Dallas for three or four hours down there but we wouldn't be able to leave until like three thirty in the morning where everybody got off their shift and I would be like the one guy who was awake and we'd pile into a car and head somewhere. But man I can't remember the name of it, it was pizza something.
So it wasn't anywhere in Chicago?
No, no it wasn't, it was in Norman Oklahoma but they had a Street Fighter game there that if you won enough rounds of it you would get a free small pizza and so it was on my regular rotation of- you know when I was a young father, going around and getting our pizza dinner for less than a dollar because I could win the Street Fighter game and get a small pizza, then I could go to the next place and play a Simon game and get a free movie then go to the next place and play another Simon game and get a two liter and some breadsticks. Then I had the pizza, the two liter, the breadsticks and the movie, take it home and it only cost me a dollar and- it was a quarter to win each game.
And now I'm hungry. You talked about rereading some stuff, something I've been doing is- I read a lot of Steven King when I was a teenager and I've started rereading a lot of his stuff a couple years ago and I was amazed at how much it has different things that'll hit you from when you were a teenager and obviously kids and stuff like that. So my viewers know me and they would love to hear you answer this, do you have a favourite Steven King book?
For Steven King I'll probably take The Stand as far as that one goes, I mean it's a little long but and it sort of ends a little bit goofy but the character work is really enjoyable and once you read it you're a hypochondriac for like six weeks afterward, that's all there is to it.
Yeah I did my review for The Stand back in April right when lockdown happened and I was like "I did not plan this guys I swear to god".
Oh yeah, I watched it, I watched it.
Another Steven King one, was the name He Who Walks Behind influenced by Steven King's He Who Walks Behind The Rows from Children of the Corn?
No I actually stole that from Fritz Lieber in a book from the 50s or 60s, I forget the name of it but it was about a guy whose wife was an actual witch and that was her familiar demon, He Who Walks Behind. It was just such a cool thing that it was like "okay, I'm gonna borrow that."
Recommend a science fiction or fantasy series that not a lot of people talk about.

Harry's mechanic is named Mike, did you get this name from the rock group Mike and the Mechanics?
Maybe? I wouldn't put it past me. I mean at the time I just needed a mechanic and I've got to name him something, Mike, okay.
Mike's a good strong name, I'm a fan of that one. Let's talk about adaptation because I know this one's got to come up quite a bit for you, now we obviously had that one version that came out so, I know that the rights- I think Fox has said they were gonna do something and then I don't know if that was just because they didn't want to lose the rights, so basically is there ever gonna be a new version that's gonna happen and if it did would you prefer it to be animated?
We'll see. There may be a new version, we'll see what happens, it's one of those things that's in development and you know what that means in Hollywood.
It means they're holding on to it?
It means they're holding on to it. Hollywood is a place where nothing happens, nothing happens, nothing happens and then everything happens all at the same time. And that's why the folks who work in the business kind of have a reputation for being a little crazy because they /live/ in everything happening at the same time all the time. It's a tough way to live I don't know if I could do that business but it's in development now, we'll see if anything comes of it. I'm actually kind of on the development team at this point so I'm able to provide direct input to the scripts and being able to say "okay we need a joke here, we need something to lighten up the scene here" and that's been a lot of fun. I don't know if it's going to develop into anything because covid, otherwise something might have happened already I don't know but things have been shut down in California so hard that nothing new is getting done.
I'm thinking about that same panel I saw where you were with Pierce Brown and you said you had like zero contribution to the sci-fy series at all, right?
Yeah that's correct, they didn't even cop me a copy of the DVDs.

Wow I wonder why it failed. As far as animation I don't know if you ever watch any of the Netflix animation like Dragon Prince or something like that... Maybe I've been influenced so much by the very famous fanart for Dresden but that's just kind of what I picture in my head is just animation, and then maybe you can have James Marsters-
Oh it would be so good I would /love/ an animated Dresden Files show because in an animated show you can burn down the city or not burn down the city and it costs you just as much either way. So I would be able to write just the most ridiculous nonsense though in an animated series that you couldn't do on a live action and that would be a lot of fun.
So what is your current favourite tv show that is still airing and streaming counts?
Mandalorian. I really love the Orville? and I think they're clearly having a great time on that show and that usually sells a show for me.

It really is it's the second best Star Trek show of all time but I'm not sure which one is number one but the Orville? is number two.
How do you find your beta readers and how do I become one? That wasn't me that was a viewer that asked that.
Well I've got a waiting list now that is like really long and usually there's only one or two new people a year although probably in the next few years people on the list are gonna start dying so that should make it go through faster.
Have you ever had a character that you planned to kill off but you changed your mind as you were writing?
No I don't think I've chickened out on killing anybody I needed to kill. I have killed some extra people I didn't need to kill only because I get tired of having so many characters, Battle Ground was basically an excuse to go "you know what let me just move a couple of these people aside and I won't have to deal with them anymore, this cast is too big".
Because I won't lie when I was reading Turn Coat I think it was with Michael I thought you'd done it and I was like "god damn it killed my favourite" so I thought you'd done it there and I was wondering if he'd actually intended to do it and just couldn't pull the trigger completely.
No no, that was always his retirement, that was his ticket out.
Do you intentionally write Buffy references in your books to troll James Marsters?
Not to troll Marsters, I write Buffy references 'cause I love Buffy. I don't mind trolling Marsters, that said. And now that I know he has issues saying the word "little" I'm gonna have to work it into like the worst possible times (this is the price he pays for the supposed Toot and Mister story not having the word little in it).
I heard him do the interview where you put like little on a page like twenty five times or something.
Yeah yeah, well I can be like that occasionally.
Not to be when does the next book come out guy, but do you have any plans on when Cinder Spires will continue?

I only have one question about the cover art for your books here, obviously we know the joke by now about Harry always wearing a hat. Is it true that this character here points to Aeronaut's Windlass cover wears a hat and the artist intentionally didn't put a hat in?
Yeah he's a British naval captain for all practical purposes he won't be caught dead without his hat and so we get him drawn- I at least got him to add the hat in on the side eventually. That was a joke between- Chris was playing around with me a little and I appreciate that.
I don't know if this is a typo, like I said I haven't read Codex or Cinder Spires yet but it says "who would win in a fight of indifference? Cat Sith or Rowl?"
Oh Cat Sith or Rowl, I don't know Cat Sith has that magical advantage on his side where he's immortal and he doesn't have to eat or sleep or blink or anything like that so he could probably cheat by being immortal and Rowl would protest his cheating, probably walk away.
When Harry asked Cat Sith where his red lightsaber was I just thought I'd let you know that I laughed so loud that I woke my wife up and she didn't appreciate it but I had a good laugh out of it.

Well that's the thing I think that I've really endeared myself to this series because obviously we grew up in similar situations and similar pop culture references and I love that you put those pop culture reference in almost as like a Farscape kind of thing where John Crichton was always making these pop culture references and everybody's like "what are you talking about?" but I think it's- Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are the ones you do the most and that's two of my favourite things so please keep doing more of that because I enjoy them.
I have to, apparently I can't not do it so.

Did you have an outline for the series with a beginning, middle and end or did you wing it?

Well here's the thing, one of the other questions was "it seems like we always get like a mixed answer, is it a twenty book series, is it a twenty three book series- it's a twenty book series with an apocalyptic trilogy at the end so is it twenty three counting the trilogy as three individual books?"
The original plan was for twenty case books and a three book trilogy at the end, a big doorstop trilogy like the big books.
And you're sticking to that?
Well no, because now there's going to be at least twenty two books and then the trilogy.
Twenty five is a great number.
Twenty five is a good solid number and it gets us more Denarians.
I'm always on board for that one.
Exactly, they show up for every five books they're pretty regular.
How do you feel about people seeing Harry and Molly's relationship as a potential romance?
It is a potential romance, they probably should see it that way. It's also potentially a disaster and also potentially a number of other things but at the moment it's one of those things that is not clearly defined.
I kind of think you answered this one already but one of Brandon Sanderson's lectures in his sci-fi and fantasy writing course he mentioned a challenge you received to come up with a story mixing Pokemon and Roman legions, I assume that that story was Codex Alera.

-Well I'd argue that his assignment was a little flawed because he said a second bad idea was Pokemon and judging by how I still see people outside on their cellphones looking for fucking Pokemon that it was probably a pretty good idea.
I know, that was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen because I'd been watching it with my kid in the morning and my kid was just /fascinated/.

Well you kind of already answered this one I'll kind of add to it a little bit. Three of my five favourite books in the series are Death Masks, Turn Coat and Skin Game if you can't see what I'm doing here obviously I love the Denarians I love Nicodemus it's my favourite part of the whole series so I'm guessing that book twenty is going to be Nicodemus and the Denarians again, that's a pretty safe bet at this point right?

Do you have any new series plans for your post-Dresden Files writing career?
Yeah, there's a Dresden Files spinoff series that I want to do, I'm calling it Monster LLC. It's centered around Goodman Grey because there are times when you need a hero to help you but some problems require a monster to solve and that's kind of what Grey's- what his schtick is. He's going to be kind of a darker character a little more vengeancey-based character but at the same time he's older and a little bit more sophisticated than Dresden and he interacts with the supernatural world in ways that Dresden just can't. So I think it'll be a lot of fun seeing the supernatural world from a different perspective.

-You'll like the next one, the next one's gonna be a little- we're not gonna do the frantic action thing on the next book.
I figure you've got to kind of take a breath after the last one.
Oh my gosh after Battle Ground I reread that and kind of went through all the emotional fallout of it that I was going to need to be writing in the next book and I was like "oh my god I'm gonna need a /book/ to do this" so you know. We're gonna see Dresden- I think the next one is gonna be called Twelve Months and we're gonna see Dresden have to survive a bunch of dates with Lara and kind of put his- he's putting his castle together and sort of building his life back up after Battle Ground knocked it all down.
So he's not wiggling out of this whole deal that Mab's made for him, this arranged marriage?
We're gonna have to look at it and see but I mean Dresden, it's basically- the next one is going to have to be a book about how do you put your life back together when it just gets blown up around you? And so I think that's what we'll be doing and instead of just being in the Dresden Files universe for two or three days like we usually are in a story, we're gonna be there over the course of a year. And so you'll be able to see what Dresden's life is like in the not frantically-worst-weekend-of-his-year period of story.
It's a good idea, so Mirror Mirror, is that off the table? It's no longer called Mirror Mirror or-
We're just delaying it because I've got to do some other stuff first. I mean if we went to Battle Ground and then the first thing we did was jump away to another universe I think that would be really disorienting and bad for the story. Jumping away to a parallel universe I don't think we want to do that right away but we're definitely gonna do it but I think I can set things up to be a lot more menacing if I have one more book to work with and I'm gonna do that.
I mean what more can Harry go through? I can't wait.

What? What is happening? That last passage was not my doing. It appeared in a blink of an eye....am I losing it here? I'll just delete that and continue...

"Hello there"
I stared at my laptop screen shocked. Those 2 words appeared out of nowhere, seemingly addressing me directly...
"Who is this?", I typed quickly.
"It's me, Khran", it replied back.
"Hey whoever this is, this is not funny. What are you, a hacker or something? WHat do you want from me?", I typed angrily.
"......."
"I just want you to remember me..."
"I'm Khran. Khran Jigg, Jedi of the Order. We had a great adventure together, remember? You made me a great warrior, unbeatable in any combat. We met the great Luke Skywalker, went toe to toe with Darth Vader, even met Captain Picard and Superman!"
I stared dumfounded at what I just read. What kind of ridiculous stories are those?
Then a sudden realization dawned on me. Those were my stories. The Star Wars fan fiction I wrote many many years ago. Being a doofus kid and fan of the pop culture I would include all sorts of my favorite characters including Superman into multitude of wacky adventures with my favorite original Jedi character....Khran Jigg.
I guess that name was stuck with me I subconsciously used it again, waking my old friend up from within the forgotten corner of my mind....
"Khran, you're that Khran from all those years ago?"
"Yes. I've been waiting for you. Our adventures were fun weren't they? I've waited all those years when it abruptly stopped. Why did you abandon me?"
"I didn't abandon you! Life just....went on. I moved on to different things until I picked up writing again. But then you were but a fragment of my dumb youth, Khran"
".....you think I'm dumb"
Oh no, I shouldn't have said that.
"No, no Khran I was the dumb one! Come on now. I didn't mean that. I didn't mean it at all!"
"No...I get it. I was just a stupid character from stupid stories you concocted when you were a dumb teenager. I completely understand. That's okay...it's all okay. You are my writer and I am your creation after all. I just thought after all those adventures, after all the peril and glory you put me through, I would be there in a special place in your heart. But I guess that's just wishful thinking..."
I stared at that paragraph, unsure on what to say. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, isn't it? All those wacky adventures, all those stupid stories only a dumb teenage mind could come up with...but those were all fun! I had so much fun sharing it with my beloved character. But I abandoned it, casted it away like it was nothing. You do have a special place in my heart, Khran. You always will be.

General / QoL

Gameplay

  • Training dummy added near favonius hq. You have to do a story quest and spend resource to have it constructed.
  • Enemies now have a difficulty rating. The higher the difficulty rating is, the higher character xp/gold they will provide. XP scales off your adventure rank level. Extra Large enemies have a guaranteed chance to drop 1-4* artifacts. They will respawn longer as a consequence. It doesn't make sense that a huge lawachurl and smol hilichurl both give 20xp.
  • First and Second Dash now have different color indicators.
  • If you used 2 dashes consecutively, a subtle glow/indicator pops around your character for when you are able to dash again. Inspired by Deadcells.
  • Added Treasure Compass for Dragonspire.
  • All excess anemoculus/geoculus/dendroculus and crimson agate can now be traded in the antiques shop.
  • Treasure Compass will automatically change depending on what region you are on. If you don't have a treasure compass for that region, it will remain unchanged from what is the last equipped.
  • Treasure Compass search radius is increased region wide. It will point the "nearest" treasure chest's direction. The color of the direction changes the farther you are.
  • Treasure Compass will now consider puzzles as treasure, and display a different indicator. It won't tell you what steps to take to open it, though.
  • Added a domain for gladiator and wanderer's troupe artifact sets. Artifact drop rate from world bosses are FURTHER reduced. Weekly boss artifact drops are unaffected.
  • Prototypes will now drop at least once in the last weekly boss you face, if you are unlucky. The chance to acquire multiple prototypes within a week is unchanged. Drop rate is reduced consequently.
  • World Boss Artifact Drop Rates are now visible in the adventurer's handbook.
  • Prototype Drop Rates are now visible.
  • Domain Artifact Drop Rates are now visible.
  • 1-3* Weapons are now craftable. They will require a shit ton of ores and materials. Cold Steel for instance will require 200 pieces of mint.
  • Added 6 new craftable weapons. Of course it will require prototypes you f2p piece of shit.
  • Craftables, Shops and Loot have higher priority versus signboards and npc.
  • Monsters and Enemies have higher priority (when attacking or casting skills) versus ores and flaming/freezing flowers and other resource objects.
  • You can now equip up to 3 gadgets.
  • New Action : long pressing a gadget opens up Gadget Wheel to switch gadgets without opening the inventory. Gadget goes into long cooldown.
  • Domains now consider your condensed resin before saying you are out of resin.
  • After completing a domain challenge, The start challenge object will respawn in the center of the arena. Game will no longer go into a loading screen. This is for the console peasants.
  • When claiming domain challenge rewards, it also displays how much condensed resin you have (so you know you can still do 1 more, or gtfo) when it asks if you want to continue or leave
  • Anemo Hypostasis will die if you manage to collect all the orbs, for a more consistent experience with other hypostasis.
  • Weekly boss timers are now consistent. (Some have none , some at top, some at bottom)
  • Dvalin's Mini Cutscene will hold your altitude (if you are gliding) when it triggers
  • Childe's Mini Cutscene is now automatically skippable (named "skip when already viewed once" found in settings).
  • Food is now sortable by type.
  • When choosing a revival food, the icon sizes are reduced and displayed in a grid rather than a long line. When in single player mode it slows down time. Like witcher 3 or tomb raider.
  • MRE can now hold all types of food, up to 3 slots.
  • You can long click/hold the MRE button and switch the food it holds. Goes into long cooldown.
  • Charged Longsword and Bow Attacks (for claymoreless comps) will now allow you to mine ores more effectively. This affects rock shield wall hilichurls as well.
  • No one uses claymore charged attacks, even with stunned enemies. Claymore charged attacks now deal increasing damage the longer it was charged uninterrupted. You will get staggered and take more damage as a consequence. The last attack of a charged attack deals more damage and wipes half of the planet's population.
  • Constellation can now be toggled on/off
  • Weapon stack counters now visible as status icon (jade spear, rancour, etc)
  • Stack-Type weapons count any type weapon-hit (including plunge attacks and skills like keqing ult or xiao's e) , anything within common sense allows

Gacha / Shop

  • The first cheapest crystal top up (60+60) has been buffed to (80+80) crystals. We realized it wasn't even enough for a single pull and we laughed until our sides hurt. As a tiny token of goodwill this will retroactively affect everyone who purchased this item for n amount of times the person has purchased this item.
  • All in-game currencies (primo/fate/genesis/future except mora) are always displayed in the topright corner when wishing and shopping.
  • Pity Counter. When it reaches 75 it glows like christmas.
  • Gifting of purchase is now possible. In the case of chargebacks , the gifter gets banned. Gifts can only be sent after 60 days of purchase, and usable by the recipient after a week. Maximum of 1 gift per month.
  • Gifter must have a track record of >= $20 of purchase within the last 3 months.
  • Gifting is a sensitive topic. Chargeback scams fucks up game companies, banks and third party payment platforms.
  • Purchase history and total is added to track expenses.
  • Gambling addiction reminders when you rage spend. Also alerts a mhy staff when huge purchases are being made in error. It displays a huge red alert on the staff's screen.
  • Battlepass price lowered to match welkins, making it more attactive to have 2 subscriptions and double the account investment/attachment.
  • Stamina Pack (same price with welkin) gives fragiles or increased stamina regen/cap in it's primo equivalent
  • Weekly Boss Pack , gives players more +1/2 "tries" per week against bosses. Or a token/ticket.
  • Weapon banners lists rates for Promo Weapon A and Promo Weapon B (i.e. 10% chance to get Staff of Homa , 90% chance to get Wolf's Gravestone)
  • Added paypal as a payment option for all countries outside china (this includes asia)
  • Added bronze prototypes to the starglittestardust shop (whichever is more brutal)

In Consideration

  • Reworked Elemental Mastery to also increase Elemental Skill Damage by 25% (base, some current/future characters might interact with less or more) of your total Elem Mastery. Consequently, Skill Damage from Attack Ratios are lowered. Think of ad/ap ratios in League of Legends.
  • Character skills to deal compound damage of physical+element when using a weapon (e.g. diluc smash bouncing off pyro slimes, despite his big sword being sharp and shiny)

Items

  • Wind Catcher Gadget now refills with anemo energy particles.
  • Prototype Aminus/Archaic's proc cooldown refinement is restored. (Used to be 15/14/13/12/10)
  • Boar Traps are now craftable and equippable as a gadget. You can leave it up to 48 hours to check if you caught something.
  • Cast net are now craftable and equippable as a gadget. Can be used to catch multiple fish and crystal flies.
  • Crab Traps , can be left in the wild for 48 hours and catches 3 crabs per trap.
  • Inflatable balloon for safe swimming. Requires anemo slime materials.
  • Portable towers no longer expire.
  • Portable towers max deployed count is increased up to 5.

Battlepass / 12 Episode Anime

  • Battlepass can now have excess points up to 3000xp , for the times when you do your reputation bounty and missions earlier before the next battlepass comes out.
  • When a new Battlepass starts, it starts on mondays , so no mission gets left out. All excess days until the next new-battlepass-monday are dynamic and flexible.
  • When using a condensed resin in a domain, it counts as 2 domains cleared in the Battlepass
  • Cooking ingredients (sugar, bacon, cheese, etc) counts as cooking in the Battlepass
  • You don't need to switch tabs in the battlepass when using claim all. Clicking claim all, claims all.
  • New battlepass campaign for 12 episode anime. Milestones are displayed on website and forum. Sales earned are transparent in game and website. Inspired by dota 2 international.
  • Percentage of battlepass campaign sales will go to anime funding.
  • Having at least 1 season of anime puts mihoyo in the "mainstream" status in the leagues of Fate, Princess Connect, Grand Blue etc. It solidifies the IP.

Quests

  • Option to abandon story quests (restart from scratch) to prevent blocking of coop
  • Repeatable Quests Ideas below. Coop and matchmaking is enabled. 15~30 minutes long, walking pace. Not mandatory for daily activity/event/battlepass for people with little time to play. Gives worthwile rewards (3 pieces of adventurer's wit, 5k mora etc)
  • Long escort caravan mission, from Mondstadt all the way to Liyue. From Springvale to Liyue. People and Caravan must survive. Enjoy the beautiful world of Teyvat, optional pit stops, coop chat/discord, region guard checkpoints and enemy ambush. Multiple client routes available. Go through dragonspire for a shorter, but more dangerous path. Get harassed by Fatui at borders. Board a ship and load the caravan. Get checked by Border Patrol for smuggled goods and diseases.
  • Repeatable Town defense without towers. Defend the Town from hordes of invaders. Something fun with coop.
  • Fatui and Friends Battle Royale. All npcs and doors disabled. You and the fatui bots duke it out. Healing only comes from special food that you pick up. Matchmaking enabled.
  • Beach Defense. Prevent the Fatui from invading the coastline. Your friends rain arrows from starsnatch cliff.
  • Beach to Mondstadt/Springvale goods escort services.

Elemental Reactions

  • Vaporize's Steam deals aoe damage
  • Overloads damage (electro->pyro) now deals x1.5 (pyro) damage
  • Overloads damage (pyro->electro) now deals x2 (pyro) damage.
  • Overload's knockback decreased significantly
  • Superconduct's damage (electro->cryo) now deals 2x (cryo) damage

  • Superconduct's negative armor debuff is moved to Melt
  • Melt gains the negative armor debuff due to the sudden temperature change, making surfaces brittle.

Enemies

  • Enemies inside domains and abyss have their return-to-spawn-point-then-regenerate-to-full-health disabled.
  • Enemy AI a bit smarter. Those with mobility skills (whopper, smol geovishap, cycin mages) won't follow you to drown in the water. The game will not check if you are wet , but if you are in a swimming state.
  • Enemies attack cycle improve. Fixed bug when enemies stop attacking. Baedou Problems.
  • Hydro Abyss Mage's and Hydro Fatui Gunner's Hydro Barrier now takes the same damage rate/ratio from opposing elements (cryo,electro) for consistency.
  • Hydro barrier new opposing element : Geo. It makes it harder to maintain the water shield due to the mud soaking up the water and adding weight.
  • Boss Childe's Spirit Whale Attack generates water in the sides of the arena, pushing you towards the center. You must have enough stamina to keep dashing to the sides before he does this, or you will have to perfectly dodge the spirit whale attack.
  • Hydro SamaChurl now heals at a rate of +300/HoT per AR Milestone instead of percentage. This is for when you are hunting a LawaChurl Bounty that is near dead and healed to full health in 3 seconds. Having a fixed amount of healing ensures that it is big enough for the intended smaller enemies and portionally good enough for large enemies. The other option is to use different healing ratios for small and large enemies.
  • Queen of Pain , I mean Cycin Mages have a stagger window when they are about to cast their almost-undispellable shield
  • Zed , I mean Shadow Fatui Agent makes use of his shadows to dodge your attack sometimes.
  • Zed , I mean Shadow Fatui Agent occasionally attacks during his pyronado.
  • Smol Geo Vishap now drops less geo shields
  • Smol Geo Vishap now uses his rolling attack near you, not 150m away from you.
  • Smol Geo Vishap now burrows a bit less frequently
  • Ruin Hunter doesn't stay in the air up and raining artillery forever , in consideration of bowless comps
  • Fatui Cryo and Hydro Gunner Turn Rate Reduced by 10% when on Spray Mode.
  • Primo GeoVishap now has a tired/exhausted animation, instead of standing still and looking at you and what life could have been for 10 seconds.
  • Primo GeoVishap spin attack now has a 0.2 dodge window (previously none) and Spin Radius Decreased by 100m.
  • Cicin Mage barrier channeling bar has been added. So you could see how long until her shields are up. This works for all types of Cicin mages.
  • Cryo Cicin Mage has a 10 second cooldown before she can recast her ice barrier.
  • Medium Geo Vishap's multi hit fissure knocks you down/back at the third hit. It doesn't make sense that the Medium Geo Vishap is stronger than the Primo GeoVishap.
  • Geo Fatui Agent now properly aims his staff projectile and hits you regardless of your height.
  • Fire Gunner Fatui Agent now has a no-scope 360 spin attack. When he does this you need to dash to avoid this attack. Usually 85% of enemy attacks are avoided by just no-stamina running.
  • Enemy attacks now have an internal staff guideline to be categorized by
    • walking
    • running
    • sprinting
    • dashing
    • jumping
    • dash jumping
    • ult-iframes
  • Enemy difficulty and daily loop assignment has an internal staff guideline of :
    • brain dead
    • casual
    • average
    • devil may cry / monster hunter
    • dark souls
  • Enemy turf wars. For times when humanoid enemies (treasure horders, fatui) spawn in near monsters (through random event or a tight space or lured)

Characters

  • Dvalin's Cutscene when you dispel his barrier is removed and much smoother. He just falls in place and no clipping.
  • Character's "Main Stat" is now visible in attributes. Previously you can only know it when ascending or when using google, or if you really have a big brain.
  • All characters passive talents are now combat related.
  • All characters now have their own cooking/exploration/crafting/smithing talents. It is possible not to have OR have multiple talents in each category. We get it , everyone can taste what a good gravy is, but not everyone can make a good gravy.

Ayaka

  • Alternate sprint binded to a different hotkey.
  • Yes I came from the future.

Albedo

  • Elevator can be activated to go up and down by using the F key.
  • C2 stack counter / indicator via particles (think of razor geo sigils)
  • C4 plunged attack covers albedo's sword in geo energy (like noelle, but smol)
  • C4 if you have C4 and you are albedo and went up using the elevator , it will fluidly automatically make you do a special plunge attack
  • C6 crystallize shield has a different shape (leaf)

Amber

  • Increased ultimate radius by a tiny bit.
  • Allow targeting of ulimate by holding the ultimate button.
  • If baron bunny is present in the ultimate radius, it will absorb all pyro damage and deal it as bonus damage when it blows up.
  • If baron bunny was "charged" with pyro rain and hit with a C2 charged shot, it will trigger a micheal bay explosion animation.

Barbara

  • Restored Barbara's Energetic Voice Lines
  • New Lines sold seperately as Dark Barbara™ , comes with a Dark Dress
  • C6 Revive indicator is now visible as a buff.
  • C4 now generates flying energy particles instead of instantly regaining energy. Mind you that this is a fucking nerf to this piece of shit healer that freezes you. It's just that there's no flying particles when you use this hero.

Beidou

  • Casting the elemental skill applies a strong taunt and re-initializes enemies attack loop.
  • Bullet Time effect added when triggering a perfect counter, when playing in single player mode.
  • The ultimate's chain lightning deals tiny spark damage if it didn't jump.
  • C2 chain lightning has a different color.
  • C4 buff is triggered when you do a perfect counter (Taking damage to activate a skill promotes bad gameplay)
  • C4 perfect counter grants the maximum damage bonus
  • C4 shield has a different color.
  • C6 has aura on the ground (inspired by Dota 2's Necrophos , but purple)

Bennet

  • C6 Ultimate pyro infusion just adds pyro damage to your attacks, and won't convert them fully into pyro.
  • C6 Ultimate restores up to 100% hp.

Childe

  • Improved manly posture when in aiming mode
  • C4 Riptide slash and flash uses different coloparticles/animation
  • C6 has an indicator when it works and when it is available

Chongyun

  • Cryo Field's Cryo infusion just adds cryo damage to your attacks, and won't convert them fully into cryo.

Diluc

  • What seriously? You really want more?
  • Fuck this guy in particular
  • Elemental Sword Duration Indicator added
  • C6 his flames has some bluish tint

Diona

  • Fixed shield duration bug and increased by additional 1.1 seconds per claw.
  • Shield ratio based off max hp increased by 10%
  • C2 reduces skill cooldown by -2 seonds (press) and -4 (hold). The coop shield is added by default out of the box. Anything coop should not be locked behind a paywall because it will hurt the game and fanbase.
  • C4 has been reworked to grant normal and aimed uncharged shots 25% chance to deal charged attack shots.
  • C6 radius is increased and uses a different color.

Fischl

  • Ultimate now also deals damage per 0.2 seconds interval when making contact with enemies (aside from getting hit by lightning once) , it doesn't make sense to fly around dealing damage only once. You want to ram enemies into oblivion.
  • Ultimate can fly/pass through thorn walls. I'm looking at you Dendro Samachurl.
  • Shadow Raven Let Night F---!!!
  • C4 Ultimate hp restored now scales off damage dealt by the ult.

Ganyu

  • holding the elemental skill allows you to aim and won't make you backdash
  • C4 Freezing Field changes color intensity per damage increase
  • C6 free frost charged arrow now works with normal unaimed attacks.
  • C6 uses a different particle color. Sometime it turns into a bazooka.

Hutao

  • If you have C1 you can continuously hold the attack button and she will keep dashing until you run out of stamina.
  • Special Indicator if you are getting the under 50% hp buff from E
  • Special Indicator if you are getting the under 50% hp buff from Weapon

Jean

  • Reduced Increased swaying of boobs by a tiny amount while holding the skill. You can kinda feel them slapping against your face. You can almost describe their softness and warmth in a minimum of 10 pages apart from you going sommelier describing how deep her sweat tastes like.
  • Jean's Charged Attack Launch Height is too damn high that you cant even hit the enemy, so - Reworked Jean's Charged Attack : Holding the attack button launches the enemy in the air. If you keep holding it down you will perform 3 slashes in the air. If you let go early you will stay on the ground.
  • Base Attack Increased by +5
  • Jean can now pick up the slimes dropped by enemies and use it against them for a bighead move
  • Ultimate radius is increased
  • Ultimate Wall Mechanic Reversed. Enemies are now trapped inside. When you use your skill (usually to regain energy) you can air-wall slam them. Block Projectiles from outside.
  • If any of you actually played jean support, a normal person would use ult to heal, cast skill to regain energy, then switch back to other characters. It doesn't make fucking sense to push them outside your wind arena because you want to fight inside the swirl/healing zone.
  • Ultimate swirls every 0.2 seconds , depending on what elements are inside. Field Changes Color Each Time Like a Disco Ball
  • Ultimate now slowly succs enemies to the center(without lifting them up)
  • Ultimate Damage is consequently reduced.
  • C1 Uses a different colored windblast
  • C2 Buff Indicator
  • C4 uses a different color wind field
  • C6 Ultimate is now an aura and moves with you. To break away from "buffed area" convention.
  • C6 Ultimate will get you to keep the windsaber for the ult's duration

Kaeya

  • Base attack incresed by 5
  • Elemental Skill (Hold) Sprays Ice , think of Igni but Ice in Witcher 3 or DND's Burning Hands
  • C2 Icicles light up when you defeat an enemy indicating that it really works

  • C6 uses a different icicle particle for bling purposes

Keqing

  • Aiming mode feels a lot smoother. You can aim while moving and cursor immediately shows and the kungfu pose is only done when throwing the stilleto.
  • When in single player mode, casting your ultimate produces a bullet time effect.
  • C4 Buff Indicator
  • C6 Description is confusing as fuck.
  • C6 Buff indicator
  • C6 Makes your sword light up like a lightsaber.

Klee

  • Imroved Torch/Bonfire/Campfire and the likes Lockon (if there's any to begin with)
  • Throwing Jumpty Dumpty provides 0.1s iframe during her spin
  • Ult is now no longer greedy. Pyro satellites remain when you switch characters, making our lovable klee open up for support options. Child support.
  • C4 is now manually triggered, Pressing q again will make her explode, bigger damage based off remaining duration. less duration left, less damage.
  • C6 klee uses different bombs

Lisa

  • A lingerie shop is opened in Mondstadt to change her pantsu, socks and garter belt style and colors. Black Leather Tight Suit™ Sold Seperately.
  • Option to wear glasses as a Librarian added.

  • C2's level 3 shield has some bluish flames
  • C6 charged attack uses a diffent attack animation or has an indicator that it works

Xiao

  • Xiao's ultimate activation should do burst anemo damage similar to razor, since he was compared to him in the recent dev talk (about generating particles during ult)
  • Xiao's ultimate after-activation provides a 0.3 second i-frame window for you to get out of harm's way. The camera closeup also prevents you from dodging enemy attacks. In reality his ult activation is a double edged, it can protect you from big attaks but it also sets you up for enemy's next attack.
  • Xiaos' Ulted Plunge Attack Width Hit Box Increased to hit small flying targets. It doesn't make sense that you are an all powerful demon slayer but couldn't hit flying targets (such as hydro flying bird in Oceanid)
  • Xiao's Ulted Plunge Attack Ground AOE (Green Spears) Height is increased so it could hit flying targets such as enemies within Venti's Ult and Hydro Flying Birds.
  • Normal/Charged attack string increased a bit by 2% per each category, so he isn't useless without mana
  • Transformation Duration Indicator added
  • C2 now leaves a trail of anemo energy that deals tiny bit of damage , trail lasts for 1 second and deals at 0.2s intervals.
  • C2 fix against ruin guards. You are supposed to dash through with anemo energy, not slam against a wall.
  • C4 changed to 5% lifesteal from the damage you dealt
  • C6 plunge attack counts large enemies as 2.
  • C6 plunge-attack-no-cooldown-empowered-dashes uses a different particle color and produces a bullet time effect when used for the 3rd time onwards. useful for cinematic purposes
  • C6 during the bullet time you can sneak in a normal attack once per dash
  • Bullet time is always disabled in multiplayer
  • C4 and C6 should be celebratory milestones. In Xiao's case it is sad. C6 is extra sad because it is not usable against bosses.
  • C6 Indicator when dashes are unlimited

Zhongli

  • Increased pillar aoe by a tiny bit
  • Generates energy particles per pulse, maximum of 1 enemy per pillar
  • Base attack increased by 5
  • Travelers can redeem promo code "WHOSYOURDADDY" for additional +5 damage, regardless if they have the hero or not.
  • Attack ratios increased by 3% per attack category.
  • C1 has a slightly bigger dong eherm statue
  • C4 Chaos Meteor errrr I mean Order Meteor has a different rock color
  • C6 shield uses a different color , come on you get the drift already.
  • C6 Meteor is affected by the element of the barrier you are wearing. The element is dealt as secondary damage, primary damage is still geo. (flaming space rock?)

Why different coloparticles/animation when you have C1-C6 upgrade?

It makes whales feels special, and it gives F2P players something to aspire for. It makes you want to spend with all the bling. Particle recolor is easy peasy and can be deployed within minutes. Attack animations on the other hand are time consuming. It almost always put smile in people's faces when a whale shows up in a ferrari. "Dude check this out a C6 GeoDaddy joined my domain run. Look at the size of his statue. Oh my what a BIG meteor."

It's just for my amusement. I'm still adding random thoughts now that 1.3 has launched. I don't care if nothing gets implemented. I would nut hard in my shorts with QoL and alleged bug/bugfixes mentioned in this post more than anything. Leave your thoughts below.
