TLDR - If someone isn't a threat to themselves or others and they don't want help, what can you do?
I (35F) have an acquaintance "Sarah" (60ish F) who seems to be experiencing paranoid delusions. (All of her electronics/accounts are hacked, the healthcare system is targeting her for her disability checks, they are breaking into her apartment everytime she leaves, the cops & neighbors are also in on it, etc.).
I don't have a super close relationship with Sarah, I just watch her dog for free sometimes (we met at the dog park and would meet up there occasionally). Her dog recently injured herself and she asked me to watch her while she recovers and to keep her safe from the "people breaking in". I agreed because I thought relieving the stress around her dog could be helpful. I used to be a vet tech so I played up the healing/recovery part rather than the "safety" part.
I am trying not to feed into her delusions but I'm struggling with how to respond. I might ask questions about why she thinks these things are happening but I find myself mostly just shutting down and not responding as she monologues. I'm autistic and I struggle with knowing what to say in regular conversations.
Sarah just got released from a 72hr hold. She has already said she's not going to do any new meds that her psych recommends and plans on going to the FBI. I am keeping in contact with her kids (she gave me their numbers because I have the dog). She doesn't want to tell them anything since they push back against all her delusional thoughts.
Do I just keep helping with her dog and being a support in that way? Is there anything else I can do besides keeping her kids informed of new developments?

The episode opens with the Gaang's arrival at the North Pole, where they are warmly greeted by the chief. Aang swiftly informs the chief of the looming Fire Nation threat, prompting a concerned response. Despite Aang's doubts about his preparedness, Chief implores him to assist in defending the city. In a gesture of support, Master Pakku offers to train Aang, who agrees on the condition that Katara joins him. Pakku suggests Katara train with Yagoda instead.
Amidst a dinner hosted by the chief to honor the Avatar's presence, Sokka's presence catches the eye of Yue, though she conceals her interest. Their subsequent exchange in the kitchen is awkward, ending abruptly as yue is called away. The following morning, Aang begins his training with Pakku, while Katara seeks guidance from Yagoda. Despite her eagerness to learn combat, Yagoda informs Katara of the prohibition against women learning such skills.
Tensions escalate as Katara confronts Pakku during Aang's training session. Aang, witnessing the exchange, refuses to continue training under Pakku. Yue later advises Aang to seek counsel from Kuruk. Kuruk, in a depressed state, tells aang about his tragic life, insists on taking on his responsibility alone and cautions Aang against involving his friends further and putting them in harms way.
Meanwhile, Zuko falls victim to Zhao's deception through Lt jee and zhao's first officer, leading to a staged demise. Iroh, determined to avenge his nephew, suspects foul play orchestrated by Ozai and Azula and agrees to join Zhao in his expedition.
During Aang's spiritual journey, Yue and Sokka engage in a heartfelt conversation, revealing complexities in Yue's engagement to Hahn. As Aang returns to consciousness, news arrives of Katara challenging Pakku to a duel. Despite her valiant effort, Katara is defeated, though her determination garners respect from onlookers. Amidst the aftermath of the duel, Pakku's gaze falls upon Katara's necklace, triggering a flood of memories. Tears well up in his eyes as he recalls a significant moment from his past. Despite this emotional connection, Pakku remains steadfast in his decision to deny Katara the opportunity to train under him, a conflict evident in his conflicted expression.
Impressed by her skills, the other students express a desire to learn from her. Witnessing Katara's struggle prompts Yue to reassess her own situation, leading her to confront her father and Hahn about her engagement. Her decision to end the engagement was received by respect and sadness by her father and Hahn but they accepted it regardless.
As the episode concludes, Zhao gains approval to invade the North Pole, Ozai's monologue of ambition play behind for Fire Nation dominance

To perform a magic trick, Robert Angier has procured a machine that enables him to teleport across a room, or perhaps it teleports a copy of him across a room. He’s not sure. All he knows is that when he turns the machine on and steps inside, he experiences a flurry of sparks and a blinding flash of light, and then there are two of him: one standing in the machine and the other standing somewhere nearby. To deal with this doubling, he installs a trap door under the stage that opens at the critical moment; the version of him still standing in the machine is dropped into a large tank of water and drowns. Stepping into the machine takes courage, Angier explains, because he doesn't know which copy is "really him": he could end up as the "man in the box" who drowns, or he could be "the Prestige," appearing on the other side of the room before an astonished crowd. He has no idea which fate awaits him. And yet, night after night, he steps into the machine. Why?
One of the most striking themes of The Prestige, Christopher Nolan's brilliantly entertaining mind-bender about a rivalry between two magicians, is the value of wonder. Angier, played by Hugh Jackman, explains his motivation in a key monologue at the end of the film:
"The audience knows the truth: the world is simple, miserable, solid all the way through. But if you can fool them, even for a second, then you can make them wonder. Then you got to see something very special... It was the look on their faces…"
Through his act, Angier seeks to complicate the epistemology of his audience: to make some obvious truth slightly less obvious, some impossibility slightly more possible. He wants to make them wonder: what if the world isn't so simple, or isn't so miserable, or isn't so solid all the way through?
Angier sees this as a deception, of course; he believes that "the truth" is the depressing reductionist picture of the world that his magic trick briefly distracts us from. But there is a tension at the heart of his actions. Somehow, in an ordinary world, Angier has found something so extraordinary that he’s willing to risk death for it.
What could be worth dying for in a "simple, miserable, solid" world? This is the world of physics, nothing more or less than a collection of fundamental particles and forces playing out the math in real-time. There's no room for the sacred in this ontology, no space for a value beyond pleasure. But Angier is willing to drown himself nightly to witness the reaction of his audience as he destabilizes this picture. He has located something transcendent in the act of making transcendence seem possible. His audience, having been thoroughly disenchanted by the modern world, is normally closed off to the numinous. Yet Angier sees in their faces a kind of miracle: he has pried open, for the briefest of moments, the door to their cage of disbelief.
It’s notable that he accomplishes this with technology. Our mastery of nature has done much to render the world banal and explicable, but Nolan points out that this same mastery can be used subversively as well. We should also note, however, that Angier’s rival, Alfred Borden, is able to perform the same trick without the aid of a machine, relying on his identical twin brother to create the illusion of teleportation. Borden’s magic is made possible by a genuine fraternal bond, while Angier is forced to rely on an artificial reproduction of himself, one which must be repeatedly discarded.
Why does Angier step into the machine? What he understands, on some level, is that the greatest achievement in a secular age is to make God seem possible. This is his aim, the reason he's willing to kill himself night after night, to stand before his audience and risk it all. He does this to witness the expression of a deeply profound hope, a tentative but genuine openness to a bold idea: that the world isn't ordinary after all. Maybe a man can teleport across a room. Maybe our lives can have meaning. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

This probably isn’t the right subreddit but I got banned from vent for some reason. The title didn’t mean I’m just like a dick that spreads misinformation I meant I lie about myself. So I’m going to explain when I first noticed I physically can’t tell the whole truth about myself and my whole thing so this is going to be so long.
So in 5th grade I hated school and I would cry to my mom begging not to go and eventually my attendance was so bad they threatened to take my parents to court. The school got me a counselor I would see once a week to talk about my problems and help my attendance, it did help my attendance but still lots of hours missed. When I first had my counselor I would tell them the truth that I was afraid of school and wanted friends and all my problems with school. I had this counselor in the summer and 6th grade.
At first 6th grade was hard for me and my attendance became pretty bad again even with the counselor. I was able to bring my attendance and grades up a little bit and my anxiety started to go away once I made my first friend that year towards the end of 6th grade. Me and my friend hung out at his house and eventually we made a group of friends and we were all chill and I was pretty happy. That summer we went to carnival together and we had a couple sleepovers, there was no beef and it was pretty nice. The end of the summer I still had my counselor and the next school year started, 7th grade.
I remember being really nervous because I everyone I knew said that 7th grade was the worst year of their life’s and the school year was gonna suck. The year started out pretty good we were all still friends and so far it wasn’t as bad as everyone said. By November me and one of the guys in the group got really close we were homies. We would call everyday after school and play Xbox and shit. I remember towards the end of November I started liking this girl in one of my classes. I never really had friends when I had crushes before this so I would just look at them in class never talk to them,get their number, etc. my friends started to notice that I liked someone and kept trying to get it out of me. The one guy that I got really good friends with in the group told me that he liked a girl to and we should tell eachother. I eventually gave in and told him on Snapchat. I told him and he told me. I thought it would some quick thing and we would move on. The next day at school all he did would tease me about it and act like he would tell her. I know that it is normal so I was fine with it because I thought he would tease me for a couple days and that’s it. He ended up teasing me for the rest of November and December and I didn’t do anything about it.
We went into winter break and I got the girls snap (not by asking her just finding her on my quick add.). Me and my best friend from the group would continue playing Xbox all day and hanging out over winter break. At the time (December 2022) I had pretty low confidence in my hair because it was just some flat straight side part and I got some sea salt spray for Christmas that made my hair the fluffy hair i always wanted and I got a confidence booster even though I was still fat and ugly. I came back to school with my hair looking really good and got some compliments and I was pretty happy.
My best friend that would tease me about my crush would start taking really bad pictures of me and horrible ss of my face on FaceTime and would post it on his story where my crush was added on his account. Obviously he was doing this to be a dick and lower my self esteem. I started to notice around February that my best friend was a complete dick but I thought it was funny and kept being friends with him. In February i started to get a little popular and people had a nickname for me and I knew that they didn’t actually like me and it was like a joke. Also at this time my best friend convinced the rest of the group to sit at the table next to his crush. We did and my crush happened to sit a couple tables away from us and Im not sure if he made us sit there because of that or because his actual crush. Also around this time my best friend convinced me to unfriend someone from the group and I did. I felt really bad for him and I still talked to him. When the best friend found this out he basically said over text when we were on the bus that I feel betrayed and we are done being friends. I was so upset and while I was on the bus I looked at his story and it’s him exposing all my secrets. Everything I told him was on his story. My crushes name, my dark secrets, everything. He also posted most of the bad pictures and apparently when I told him crushes name in November he was doing some glitch where he could ss and not tell me. I just turned off my phone and was holding back tears on the bus full of people, when the bus got to my stop I just quickly and quietly walked off the bus and walked to my house. I was mortified and just went to my room and cried, the hardest I cried since 5th grade. I thought my life was ruined. He called me and said he deleted the stories before anyone saw them and I became his friend again🤦‍♂️. I was scared because he had the other horrible photos of me.
Shortly after i just forgot about the story and me and him and his crush and her friend hung out. We just got ice cream and went to a playground.his crush handed me a vape and told me to hit it. I don’t want to seem like a pussy so i did. I didn’t inhale it and apparently she was recording and sent it to my best friend. Later that night I saw the video on his story and was mortified and told him to delete it and he refused and the next day at school everyone was making fun of me for a month. It was so embarrassing. The thing that pissed me off the most about it was the fact that half of the school vapes and no one made fun of them. I never told my counselor about it and she thought I was doing good enough to end her being my counselor. That is when I truly noticed that I’m a really bad liar. She thought I was doing my best even though I was at my worst.
The rest of the school year went okay but since I was kinda popular I started to get bullied more and more about my weight. All my best friend did was make fun of me even though he was fat too. People started to take pictures of me in class and sent to their story and me to make fun of me. I started to go to the gym and some kid would help me out With my diet and at the gym. Me and him started to become friends and he convinced me to join the football team the following school year. So I got a physical at the end of 7th grade and was determined to join the football team. I wanted to gain respect,become more confident, lose weight, become stronger,faster,etc.so at the end of the school year I became kind of happy again.
My family was praising me because I would go to the gym. I wanted to lose like 30 pounds in like 2 months or something crazy like that. The start of the summer was good, i would work out a few times a week. In late June my whole dad’s side of the family pays for a week in a really good and big air b&b and it’s really fun. My best friend and I didn’t talk much during the first half of the summer and he kept trying to call me when I was swimming, fishing, talking with my whole family,etc. and I got pissed and texted him something along the lines of “can you fuck off im on vacation get off my dick.” And he left me on opened and really didn’t talk for the rest of the summer. I realized my gym partner was an asshole all along too and wasn’t trying to help me at all.
Long story short I lost a few pounds by the start of football season. The first practices were really hard and I hated it. But by a couple weeks in I started to get more stamina and strength. By a month into footballl season my ankles were really fucked up because the only cardio I did during that summer was jog a mile or something but in practice we run so much in heavy pads and uncomfortable cleats. I was never good I was always a back up.
I had practice every single day after school was so tired but couldn’t quit. My best friend who was a dick that me and him started to drift away from each other thought we were still homies the next school year and I didn’t want to tell him that we aren’t cool any more so I just acted like we were chill and then was at practice for 2 hours after school then went home and had to do homework and repeat the next day. I hated my life at this point so much. I didn’t enjoy playing football, I sucked at it and was made fun of for it, etc. towards the end of the football season I got hit really hard and went to a head doctor appointment a couple days later and had a concussion. So I basically just quit the football team. Everyone on the team called me a pussy and said I quit even when I told them I had a concussion.
I would go home after school in the first time in months. I realized I was so depressed and how I have no one I can trust. There was no classes with any friends, either my class was complete assholes or weirdos. Lunch was awkward because of my “best friend” thinking we were still locked in. There was no good part of the day for me I hated the way I felt but I would lie if someone asked if I was good. At this point it was October and I was in the verge of suicide. There was no good part of the day, I go home get yelled at for my grades eat and cry myself to sleep. I realized I was going to end my life if I didn’t get out of my school. I found an online school and started to beg my parents to put me in online school. They immediately refused but after a month and half of begging they agreed.
I started the school by end November and was really happy for a couple of weeks then started to become depressed again by the end of December. Now in may im more depressed than I ever was, I’m not suicidal but I have no friends and not going to talk to my parents about what im going through . I feel so alone I have full on conversations with myself and my lying is so bad I lie to my head when I’m venting to myself. I hate myself so much that I can’t even tell the truth to my internal monologue and it’s so bad. I make the situation sound better in my head but it’s not. I think online school was a mistake but if I stayed in the school I was in I probably would have taken my own life by now.
I can only think my best friend was just praying on my downfall and he won. I am moving to a new town later this summer and I’m hoping I can start a new life there and not be such a pushover. I’m sorry that this is so long and bad grammar. This is more than just low confidence and lying but I need to talk about myself. If you read this thank you

In the annals of gaming history, few titles command the reverence and adoration as the legendary Doom franchise. Born from the minds of John Romero, John Carmack, Adrian Carmack, and Tom Hall, Doom would go on to lay the foundations for just about every modern video game that exists. It was a true tour de force, a success story few could scarce ever imagine.
Released in 1993, Doom was an immediate smash hit, thanks in no small part to its shareware format, which allowed users to experience the first few levels of Knee Deep In the Dead, and then order the full game via the phone number included. Players could then share the floppy disk with their friends, and so on, and so on. It was a truly revolutionary system, and within a single year, Doom had sold over 2 million copies.
The history of the Doom franchise is one of innovation, ultra violence, and controversy (1999's Columbine High School Massacre), and that reputation is one that continued with 2016's DOOM. DOOM was officially revealed at Quakecon 2014, ten years after Doom 3. Players had long resigned to Doom being considered a dead franchise. A reboot had been in the works for a number of years prior, but never got released, having been quietly cancelled by id in 2010. The future was bleak, but the 30 second long teaser ignited a spark that had been burning dimmer every passing year.
Then came E3 2015.
The hype was unreal. The trailer had everything that fans could possibly want. Gore, intense violence, insane run n gun gameplay, a rip-roaring soundtrack and the MFING CHAINSAW. But fans had been let down before. Would it really hold up its promises?
Yes. Yes, it would.
PART I: Presentation
When DOOM burst onto the scene in 2016, it did so with a visual and auditory spectacle that left players awestruck. From the moment the game boots up, players are made aware that this is not your average shooter. You are greeted with a deep, commanding voice. "Rip and tear, until it is DONE."
Immediately, players are greeted with a scene of carnage and the Doom Slayer chained to a table, which, of course, he instantly breaks free from. A zombie attempts to relieve the Slayer of his life but is beaten to the punch with a prompt skull smashing. After putting the other zombies to rest, he interacts with the panel in the corner, is greeted by one Dr. Samuel Hayden, who attempts to justify the outbreak, and decides he would rather kill shit than listen to excuses and destroys the monitor.
That is the introduction to this game. It never wastes the player's time. We aren't here to listen to long droning monologues or watch MGS style cutscenes. id Software knew their audience, and knew what that audience wanted, and they deliver in spades. This introduction sets the tone for the entire experience: relentless action, unapologetic violence, and a protagonist who is as unstoppable as he is uncompromising. The Doom Slayer's disdain for exposition and his single-minded focus on annihilating demons resonate with players who crave a pure, unadulterated gaming experience.
By eschewing lengthy cutscenes and exposition-heavy dialogue in favor of fast-paced gameplay and visceral action, id Software delivers a game that respects the player's time and delivers exactly what they came for: non-stop demon-slaying action. In an era where many games are criticized for padding their runtime with unnecessary filler, DOOM stands out as a shining example of how to create a focused and engaging experience that keeps players coming back for more.
Rather than bombarding players with lengthy exposition or intrusive cutscenes, DOOM opts for a more environmental storytelling approach. Throughout the game, players can discover audio logs, read text-based terminals, and observe environmental details that provide context and background to the events unfolding around them.
The story of DOOM revolves around the Doom Slayer's mission to stop a demonic invasion unleashed by the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC) on their Martian facility. As players progress through the game, they uncover details about the UAC's experiments with Hell energy, the origins of the demonic invasion, and the Doom Slayer's own mysterious past.
While the story may not be front and center in DOOM, it nonetheless adds depth and richness to the game world, enhancing the overall experience for players who choose to engage with it. And for those who prefer to focus solely on the action, the story remains secondary, allowing them to enjoy the game on their own terms.
That's all well and good, but what about the actual gameplay? Simply put, it is exhilarating. From the moment you are given control of the Slayer, players are thrust into a frenzy of blood and violence, and it never lets up. At its core, DOOM is a first-person shooter that harkens back to the genre's roots while injecting it with a healthy dose of modern flair. The gameplay is fast-paced, frenetic, and utterly unapologetic in its brutality. You're not just a player – you're the Doom Slayer, a force of nature hell-bent on eradicating every last demon in your path.
Central to the gameplay experience is the game's combat loop, which revolves around a delicate balance of aggression and strategy. In DOOM, there's no hiding behind cover or waiting for your health to regenerate – you're constantly on the move, strafing, dodging, and leaping across the battlefield as you unleash a torrent of bullets, rockets, and plasma upon your enemies.
Weapons include the iconic shotgun, heavy assault rifle, plasma rifle, rocket launcher, and the devastating BFG 9000, among others. Each weapon offers different firing modes, such as single shot, burst fire, and continuous beam, providing players with tactical options in combat. However, Chainsaw fuel is limited and must be managed carefully. Like Glory Kills, watching the chainsaw tear demons apart is incredibly satisfying. Certain demons require more fuel but provide the player with more ammo in return. Balancing which demons you chainsaw and which ones you choose to Glory Kill is an important part of combat.
Exploration is key to progression and is rewarding to those players who choose to do. Hidden throughout the levels of the game are Argent Cells, Praetor Tokens, and Rune Trials. Each of these provide upgrades to your health/shield/ammo, suit, and passive abilities respectively. Also hidden throughout the game are levers that lead you to classic levels from Doom 1 and Doom 2, which then unlock the full level of its respective game, playable from the main menu. You can also find toy models of the Doom Slayer, which unlock various character models to view. On some of these models, the Doom Slayer will perform a unique action when picking it up, such as fist bumping the classic Doomguy. It's a nice and cute little touch added by the developers that does a little to add character to the Slayer, who is a silent protagonist.
id Software masterfully blends modern game design with a deep reverence for the classics, paying homage to the series' storied history while introducing new elements that propel the franchise forward. Central to this approach is the game's character design, which strikes a delicate balance between nostalgia and innovation. At its core is the iconic protagonist, the Doom Slayer, whose design pays homage to the original Doom Marine while incorporating modern updates that make him feel both familiar and fresh. With his battle-worn armor, imposing stature, and silent demeanor, the Doom Slayer is the embodiment of raw power and unrelenting rage.
The game's roster of enemies is a veritable who's who of classic Doom foes, reimagined for the modern era. From the lowly possessed soldiers to the hulking Cyberdemon, each enemy is lovingly crafted to capture the essence of its 1990s counterpart while introducing new mechanics and behaviors that keep players on their toes. Whether you're facing off against the agile Revenants, the relentless Hell Knights, or the grotesque Cacodemons, every encounter is a nostalgic trip down memory lane, punctuated by the satisfying sound of demon flesh being torn asunder.
But the main story is not where it ends. DOOM has an arcade mode, where players can run through the levels again, this time trying for high scores and medals while collecting 1 Ups. It's important to move fast and have accurate aim; the more kills you chain together, the bigger your score is. Getting hit reduces your score. At the end of the level, your score is tallied against others on a leaderboard. It's a great way to incentivize players to keep playing, in order to get a better and better score.
There is also multiplayer, where players compete in various game modes such as classic deathmatch, warpath and free for all. Players can become demons by collecting runes on the battlefield and this gives them a distinct advantage; demons are larger, stronger and more resilient. Players are bizarrely restricted to only two weapons and a loadout in multiplayer, which blew my mind. Loadouts. In a DOOM game. The demons are also massively unbalanced and if one team manages to get a particularly powerful demon such as a baron of hell, then it's a guaranteed win. All in all, the multiplayer just isn't great. You are better off replaying the story or arcade mode, or even SnapMap.
SnapMap is id Software's proprietary level editor, and it puts every other editor on the market to shame. SnapMap is an incredible, intuitive, easy to learn system allowing players to create their own multiplayer, co-op and single player maps. There is an extensive tutorial system that teaches users the basics, and goes up in depth, covering how to use AI triggers, switches, combinations, object layering, actions, recalls, audio cues, etc. Never have I ever seen such an in-depth interface on a console game before. While it is only surface level in the grand scheme of things, SnapMap is a great introduction to teaching users how game development works, and I urge everyone to try it out at least once.
Part II: The Music
In DOOM, the music isn't just a background accompaniment – it's a driving force that propels players forward, electrifying every moment of the gameplay experience. Composed by the incredibly talented Mick Gordon, the soundtrack of DOOM is a relentless onslaught of metal and electronica that perfectly complements the game's fast-paced action and visceral combat. From the moment you boot up the game, you're greeted by the iconic strains of the main theme, a haunting melody that sets the tone for the epic journey that lies ahead. As you traverse the game's environments, the music shifts seamlessly between atmospheric ambience and pulse-pounding metal.
But it's not just the composition of the music that makes it so memorable – it's also the way it's integrated into the gameplay itself. Mick Gordon's dynamic scoring system ensures that the music evolves in real-time based on the player's actions, ramping up in intensity during combat encounters and dialing back during quieter moments of exploration. This creates a sense of momentum and flow that enhances the overall pacing of the game
One of the standout features of the soundtrack is its use of unconventional instrumentation and sound design. Mick Gordon's signature sound combines distorted guitars, pounding drums, and industrial noise to create a sonic palette that is as brutal and unforgiving as the game itself. Of course, no discussion of the music in DOOM would be complete without mentioning the iconic tracks that have become synonymous with the game. From the adrenaline-fueled "Rip & Tear" to the bone-crushing "BFG Division," each track is a masterpiece of composition and production, perfectly capturing the essence of the DOOM experience and elevating it to new heights. Mick Gordon's composition for the DOOM soundtrack is a tour de force in heavy metal and industrial electronica, meticulously crafted to evoke the essence of the game's frenetic gameplay.
The backbone of the soundtrack is the distorted guitar, which provides the driving force behind many of the tracks. Gordon's use of extended-range guitars and custom-tuned instruments gives the music its signature low-end punch, while his aggressive playing style adds a raw, visceral energy to the sound. By focusing on these core principles, id Software created an experience that resonated with players old and new, capturing the spirit of the original games while pushing the series forward. Central to this approach is the game's unwavering commitment to respecting the player. From its minimalist storytelling and streamlined level design to its intuitive controls and dynamic difficulty system, DOOM prioritizes the player's experience above all else, ensuring that every moment of the game is engaging, immersive, and satisfying.
One of the most notable ways that DOOM respects the player is through its approach to difficulty. Rather than imposing artificial barriers or punishing players for their mistakes, the game encourages experimentation and mastery through its responsive gameplay mechanics and adaptive enemy AI. Players are given the freedom to approach encounters in their own way, whether it's through brute force, cunning strategy, or a combination of both.

And for that, we owe them a debt of gratitude.

Most of you are probably already aware of this theory. It has been around for years. The great twist of Yandere Simulator will be the reveal that Megami and Ayano are sisters.
This had been a widly accepted theory since the release of Megami's first design, back when she still had black hair. Her design at the time was extremely similar to Kill la Kill character, Satsuki Kiryun. For those who are unaware, Satsuki is the main antagonist of the anime, and the president of the student council the protagonist attends. The plot twist of the anime is that she is the protagonist's sister.
Considering Alex knows about Kill la Kill, as proven by several easter eggs, it's likely he decided to use the same plot twist for Yandere Simulator. Megami's design was changed to not give it away immediatly, but of course, Alex couldn't keep his damn mouth shut, so there are many, MANY details that confirm this theory. I said details ? I should have said pages.
However, I feel like a lot of people are glossing over many details about this theory, and have many misconceptions about it. Notably, about how Megami and Ayano are related. So I decided to give my own theory, including all the... uh... subtle evidences we get in the game.
Crazy Grandpa master plan
No need to beat around the Saikou family's bush (or should I say tree, wink wink), you probably know about the Saikou Grandpa eugenics tendencies. His goal is to create the perfect human being, and he plans on using that by acheving the perfect combination of genetics.
So you might not know about this, but there are two major theories about the development of an individual. It's nature against nurture. Is an individual as he is because he was born this way, or because he grew to be this way. Is a person a blank slate at birth, or is their individuality already present from birth. This plays into determinism, I won't go into more details for a Yandere Simulator dumb theory, but you can look it up if you're interested.
So, to go back to Crazy Grandpa, he was probably on the side of nature at first. He only reproduced after he found the perfect wife, as he didn't want his gene pool to be "tainted", going as far as to DNA her on random shit. How did he DNA test her in the 60s is anyone's guess but let's move on.
The result were two children, Ichiko and Ichirou. Ichiko was raised rather normally, and ended up leaving the Saikou family as she didn't want to become the CEO. Crazy Grandpa saw it as the failure of his belief in nature, and decided to switch to nurture with Ichiro.
So Ichirou was raised with high expectations, to the point he acted like a robot, but Crazy Grandpa was very proud about what he had become.
Saishou carefully designed a very specific upbringing for Ichirou in order to encourage the development of specific personality traits and interests, and discourage the development of any attribute that he considered to be 'unnecessary'.
The boy spoke formally at all times, never expressed emotion, and rarely changed his facial expression. The Saikou family's attendants often wondered if the boy was still capable of independent thought, or if he was simply an empty shell that had been trained to carry out his father's will." Beside that, nothing else is known about his personality.
Familiar, isn't it ? We also learn that this is Saisho's conception of an "ideal person".
It is mentionned Grandpa was the one to chose Ichirou's wife, with the same criteria as he chose his own wife. Again, a perfect wife, because he didn't want his son to waste all the work he had put to this point to have a perfect bloodline. To this point, grandpa got the living proof that nurture works, but he still can't let go of his belief nature plays a part in it.
If only there was a way to run an experiment that could give an answer to this question...
The theory
The sisters theory is that Megami and Ayano are sisters, but there are usually divergences on how they are related. Keep in mind that I will be using the old timeline from 1980s mode as a template. It's already inaccurate as Yandere Simulator isn't set in 2022 anymore, but in 2026. But I don't care, the events probably play the same way.
Megami and Ayano are revealed in this timeline to have been born in the same year. You'll notice that the timeline mentions the birth of "Ryoba's daughter", and the birth of "Ichirou's daughter". Keep in mind that Jokichi isn't mentioned as Ayano's father.
And that's where we come to the main misconception in this theory.
Who are Megami's parents ?
Ichirou is obviously Megami's father. However, many have theorized that Ryoba is Megami's biological mother. This theory goes both way, either Megami and Ayano are twins separated from birth, or Saikou kept an egg from Ryoba and inseminated the Wife. This would make her Ayano's maternal half-sister.
I don't suscribe to this theory. Well, first of all, considering the timeline, Crazy Grandpa was the one behind the deal we'll mention later with Ryoba. I don't think he would have wasted his time finding a wife with perfect genes for his son if he had planned for her to only be an incubator.
Also, another reason, Megami's little antenae. It's a part of her design that she gets from her mother. The Wife is also mentioned to have given birth to two children, Megami and Kencho, which wasn't a necessary precision. Alex would have probably found a way to circumvent this if she hasn't really have birth to Megami.
So no, sorry, Megami probably isn't a yandere.
So... if Ayano and Megami aren't related throught Ryoba... how are they sisters ?
Through Ichirou. Simply enough.
Yeah, as great of a dad Jokichi is, he is probably not Ayano's biological father. Ayano is a copy paste of Ryoba, so he doesn't share anything in common with Ayano design-wise, that could indicate he is indeed her father. We don't even know that much about him as an adult. The Characters page doesn't mention him being Ayano's father, he is only described as the student he was back in the 80s.
However, Ichirou is described as extremely similar personality wise to Ayano. While Ayano is probably emotionless due to the Aishi curse, she is way more stoic than Ryoba in her own mode. But that's still a weak evidence, this is way I will back this up with the timeline.
We know that Ryoba has given birth to a daughter very late compared to her own mother and grandmother. These reasons are said to be plot related and big spoilers. Again, Ayano's father isn't mentioned as a parent, only Ryoba.
I recently went through my text document that lists all character ages and birthdates and changed a few things. Aishi women now give birth at 18. Ryoba, however, gave birth at 31, for plot-related reasons that will be revealed in the true ending (or perhaps in the basement tapes).
So, this is my own theory on what happened.
Just shut up and tell us what happened already
In the timeline, it is mentioned Ryoba's mother kept her Senpai in her basement. In 1984, when Ryoba was still a child, Saikou Corp renovated all the houses in Buraza Town for free, including Ryoba's house. Why was this even mentioned ? Because it was the first meeting between the Saikou and Aishi families.
Crazy Grandpa found out about the weird shit happening in the Aishi's basement. He learns about the Aishi curse. He decides to keep an eye on the Aishi's daughter at Akademi. Everything Ryoba did to get her Senpai convinces him the Aishi gene is the perfect gene to create an emotionless heir.
Kocho is extremely reluctant to let Ryoba return to the school, stand on a stage, and hand her a diploma but was told by Saisho Saikou to let it go.
He orders his men to abduct Jokichi as an hostage, so she would agree to have a meeting. That's when they made a deal, that Ryoba would be the mother of the future Saikou heir. But not only is Ichiro not old enough, he wants to find the perfect wife for him. She can marry her Senpai and have well paying jobs in the meantime.
Ten years after that, Ryoba has a meeting with Saikou and his son. And according to Kencho, she is apparently a regular.
She walked straight through the waiting room and directly into Mr. Saikou's office, without even speaking a single word to the secretary.
How long had that woman been coming here? How often? What business did she have here?
Kencho asks the secretary details, and we are told :
The secretary was silent for a few moments, and then gave me some generic platitude about how "the details of Mr. Saikou's appointments must be kept strictly confidential."
So either Saisho fired the previous secretary, or this meeting must be extremely confidential. Because that secretary was a huge gossip when it came to Ichiro and Saisho's falling off.
We get the confirmation it is a big deal as all the employees act the same at the mention of Ryoba.
When they saw how distraught I was, they were eager to help, but...
...When I asked them about that woman who just walked by, they... their attitudes changed in a heartbeat.
They slowly turned away from me and returned to their work in silence.
They ignored me, as if I wasn't even there! I haven't been treated like that since I was a schoolboy!
It was as if that woman was a taboo subject that no-one was allowed to speak of...or that...
He asks about her several times but Crazy Grandpa shuts him down. Kencho mentions Ichiro was there for all the meetings, but he has only heard him speak a handful of times. However, we also know that Ryoba and Ichiro have spoken with each other.
2004, Ichiro is in his mid-twenties. He gets married to the Wife. That's when his two daughters are born : Megami is born to the Wife, as the official heir to Saikou. Ayano is born to Ryoba, away from the Saikou family, as the bearer of the Aishi curse.
How exactly what Ayano born ? It is unlikely Ryoba would have cheated on Jokichi, which is why many have theorized on an insemination. Considering Saikou is a tech company, it's not out of reach.
He had two children, in accordance with his father's wishes; 'One as a backup in case the first child fails you.'
Yes, this might refer to Kencho. But this might also refer to Ayano. After all, Saisho did have twin daughters, before having a spare...
One was raised to be emotionless. One was born emotionless. It was the old debate, nurture against nature. Which one would produce the perfect heir to the eyes of the Saikou ?
Crazy grandpa retires in 2019, right before Megami and Ayano enter Akademi, and Ichiro becomes CEO.
Ichiro wants to select the perfect heir. And for that, he decides he will select the one who will come out on top, between Megami and Ayano. He seals a deal with Kencho about Ayano.
There is...one tape...that I'm already prepared to part ways with... The tape I made after Mr. Saikou's recent, ah...demands. It's far, far too risky for a recording like that to exist... That one...must be destroyed...immediately.
We know this deal is about Ayano. When Kencho kills Ayano as he feels threatened, he says "Mr. Saikou, the deal is off".
Ryoba and Jokichi both work for Saikou. We know from the headmaster that Ryoba and Ichiro have frequent meetings. She is able to walk in his office regularly. Why ? To discuss their daughter.
When Ryoba announces they are going to America, and Jokichi worries about their job, she says she gave a call to their boss and "he was very understanding". I used to interpret this as their boss being scared of Ryoba. But if their boss is Ichirou, there might be a reason he was so understanding. If Jokichi and Ryoba were to get away from Buraza Town, they wouldn't get in the way of his plans.
After Ayano disposes of Osana, we get a cutscene where he is on the phone with Ichiro. He seems very pleased with the unfolding events, and tells Kencho these deaths are "necessary casualties" for the "progress of science". Normal CEO activity, nothing wrong here.
But Megami also learns about this, as she is aware of the presence of a dangerous individual. Either Ichiro told her, or she might have discovered it by herself. Ichiro keeps her away from school for several weeks. She attends school through Zoom.
In very early builds of the game, you could find a laptop in the school. You would get to see Megami as a shadowy figure, back when she still had black hair. And here's her monologue :
I know who you are. I know WHAT you are. My father won't allow me to attend school while you are... "active". He has a reason for tolerating your presence at this school. I don't. You are a vulgar creature that is only allowed to exist because you serve a purpose. If it was my decision, then every last one of you would be exterminated.
And here's the end of Megami's description.
Megami clearly has some very important information that would cause her to go to such extreme lengths...but what does she know? Does Saikou Corp have anything to do with it? And, more importantly, does Senpai have anything to do with it?

Lately I’ve had several posts on actingclass of people looking for monologues for an audition. They explain that they have “no previous acting training”. If you are in this position or hope to be, read on! Here are the cold hard facts and what you can do about them.
First of all, it depends on how important this audition is. Is it a professional production…a school or community production? Is it for an agent? How important is it to YOU? Whatever it is, you want to do well. The people who will see your audition will be forming an opinion of you as they watch.
Picking a random monologue, memorizing it and reciting it for someone, isn’t going to do anything good for you. Acting is so much more than that. What you choose and how you do it is crucial. They want to be able to believe you are your character. They want to see interaction and you responding to the person you are speaking to. They want to see you using your words to change the other person.
You only have one chance to make a first impression and that can last a very long time in the minds of the people you want to impress. Even school and community theater can be competitive. And in the professional world of acting in theater, film or tv, it’s like trying out for the Olympics. You are up against the best of the best.
People fantasize about being completely unknown and inexperienced and suddenly being discovered by a big tv or movie producer and cast as the lead. This NEVER happens. There is only one way to get signed for that kind of work. You need to be the best actor they see. In fact, that is true for any audition you do. No one chooses the fifth best actor (unless it’s a close family member). They don’t choose the second best actor. They only want THE BEST.
So how do you impress them if you’ve never acted before? Very simply…you can’t! Chances are, if it’s something worth doing there are going to be lots of actors there with tons of training and experience. So you need that too. Even if you did a small part in a middle school play and have always dreamed of doing more—It’s not enough. Acting is a skill that takes practice and guidance. You can’t “wing it”.
So what about this audition you have? If you think this a a huge opportunity and there is limited time to prepare, you need private coaching with an experienced and insightful teacher. I do this for new (as well as very experienced) actors all the time. I help them to find the right monologue—one to show they are right for and can handle the role in question. Or I coach them on audition material they have been given. All my lessons are recorded so you can rewatch them or even edit them to submit for self-tape auditions. This is the fastest way to prepare for an opportunity you don’t want to waste.
Auditions are nothing to take lightly. Each one is a precious gift that you should never take for granted. Each one is a building block, constructing your reputation as an actor. Your audition (or anything anyone sees you do), must be compelling as well as show a variety of emotions as you connect to another character. It needs to be at a professional level, prepared and skilled with purpose and relationship in every word. No one wants less than that for their project. No one takes on a beginner in a major production. Movies, tv shows and even theater productions cost too much to risk their success on beginners. Actors need to be assets, not a gamble. If you want to be hired, you need the skills.
Now…if you have time and that big “opportunity of a lifetime” is still in your imagination, you are in luck! Still there is no time to lose. There are some simple (but not so easy) steps you must follow. When you do all that I describe below, you WILL BE A SKILLED ACTOR. You just need to get started.

I've always found the Nicole Kidman/Cate Blanchett comparison fascinating - both of them undoubtedly the greatest of their generation, but such drastically different artistic styles that I cannot imagine them playing each other's iconic roles. In a just world, I believe they would have:

Introduction:

I do not understand how people looked at chapter 148 And automatically believe Kana. And that Akane somehow has won the shipping war.
Like did we l not learn anything from previous arcs?
Here is why kana is objectively wrong and why it's horrible to rely on her perspective but also why i don't think Akane won. (if anything its the opposite)
Actually do know why, and its because majority of people in the subreddit thinks that Aqua is telling the truth in chapter 97.and that Akane somehow saved Aqua little by little.
Believing Aqua was happy with Akane, is like saying Aqua was happy becoming surgeon. and believing Aqua was happy becoming surgeon is like believing him when he says "Ai never cried"

In chapter 33, they get sushi together. And while Kaburagi is explaining everything to Aqua. He also says that his father and I met in lalalie. The first thing that comes to Aqua's mind is the fact that Akane goes to Lalalie. So now, we have his motivation. And later on we will see this again Chapter 40 when they are talking lalalie and TB, the fact that Akane goes there appears is his mind again.

As for when he put the tracker on to Akane, it is around chapter 40 since the balcony scene makes no sense because Akane would have noticed something was wrong considering she would have now known Aqua's intentions.
Now we know where the GPS tag come from and Aqua's motivations. Let's go to the elephant in the room.

SURGEON

After TB, Aqua goes and confront Taiki about their father. Only to found out his dead. The entire arc shows that Aqua without his revenge wouldn't be any better. He would've just relived his life as Gorou Amamiya. Aqua with no stars, have 0 purpose. Aqua did genuienely believe this deep down inside he did genuienely want his revenge to be over.
However, without his revenge he wouldn't be happy either because he would've lived for the happiness of others not for himself and would've become a doctor again.
keep in mind, the biggest question here is, Who was Gorou Amamiya and Why was he reincarnated? Why was he reincarnated with his memories? And why was the day he died so important?

So Aqua/Gorou had this guilt wayy before he was reincarnated. And way before he became gynecologist.

He is lying because not only does he never shows any excitement when he says he wants to be surgeon. But also because how he died. If Gorou true dreams, was to become a surgeon why was he reincarnated as an idol's son?
When he was dying it was Sarina's words about the idea of being an idol's child.
chapter 1
So, if Aqua's actual dream was to be a surgeon, then he would have never become an idol's child the first place. (Also, for doctor he does know alot about the entertaintment industry.)

In Aqua's perspective during this time, He can live normal life and have been thinking about other people around him's future. Aqua's definition of "Normal" is everything he did his old life. Date some girls, live for other people's happiness, go to medical school, And isolating himself as doctor forever.

At first Aqua wanted to break up with Akane because he thinks he shouldn't hold back a girl with a brighjt future like Akane any longer. "bright future" is a implication that Aqua knows about Akane's upcoming movie. And he wanted to break up with her because he didn't want to hold her back in her career. But also their relationship was fake

I will not get into too much about the bridge scene. And everything in Aqua's perspective because the entire essay is supposed to be Akane and Kana's perspective but Aqua is also important.
All you need to know is that Aqua ends up changing his mind, after seeing Akane cry. Why? Because he thinks Akane needs him. Since her weird reaction on the bridge was what stuck with him.

And decided to live for her happiness because his trait of living for the happiness of others not for himself. since he knows that he is Akane's first boyfriend and Akane isn't the most mentallyt strong person to survive in the entertaintment industry (Her suicide). So, he was worried if he didn't date her, she might become mentally unstable again and do something reckless just like in lovenow. But, Also, he can protect Kana. Because he isn't busy with work, He is going on dates with Akane.
Everything else that followed was already analyzed by user mission-raccon, in his character studies essays. here he made an entire essay partaining to the love triangle between Akane and Kana and how Aqua kept a distance in both. unavailable for Akane and invesible for Kana.

LOOPHOLE

Akane ran away because she realized the loophole. In her monologue she says this.
Akane's monologue in chapter 72:
"What should I do?" Akane doesn't know what to do with the loophole when she noticed it, that's why she ask what should she do? about the loophole. Should she tell him or not. neither option are good because without the revenge, Aqua isn'tr truly happy and just go back to living for other people's happiness and isolate himself. And With revenge Aqua will live for revenge. (As self destructive it is and it is a terrible thing, it is the better option for Aqua, cause with his revenge, their is actually a potential of being saved and without the revenge the movie would've never happened and he would've known that Ruby was Sarina and him and Kana would have never reunite.)

Anyway, Akane brings this confusion up later in Chapter 78, because in chaptyer 78 in her inner monologue she askes herself again, "what should I do?" And during this breakdown, Aqua gets up and kisses her. And that's when Akane made her decision.
"I want Aqua to forget about that incident"- akane chapter 80. How is Akane going to make Aqua forget the incident? By keeping the loophole from him and hoping he doesn't find out.
Now let me, clarify, Her intentions are good and reasonable but unfortunately for Akane, Aqua is reincarnated. and isn't normal ass dude.Therapy and keeping him away from his revenge isn't going to help him. because he is reincarnated and his trauma stems from his past life not current. So, he isn't going to heal and forget Ai because the guilt is still there. it was always there since his old life.
Aqua's guilt is the reason why wants revenge. Because it's the only he feels liuke he can repent for what happened to Ai Hoshino.

Aka's writing style:

Aka's writing style is that everything comes in full circle. He starts of one thing, after some chapters ends it off with the other thing, connecting them together.

everything in oshi no ko is connected.

an obvious example of this would chapter 122 and chapter 14. in Chapter 122 Gorou tells Sarina that he will protect her from underground idols and bad recruiters which is exactly what Aqua did in chapter 14. Protecting Ruby from those bad recruiters and underground idols.

Those are just few examples on how Akasaka connect chapters together. And he does this alot throughout the story, in fact that is how I was able to understand the characters perspective connecting them together. because that's how a story works. You won't understand the author or any of the characters if you don't try and connect them together.

Fake Relationship

Chapter 87, have a lot of clues , not only is she aware that Aqua is attracted to Kana she laso hopes will become the truth since their relationship is fake.
Akane and Aqua started dating for real but their relatiionship was still fake, Why? because Aqua lives for the happiness of others. Like I said many times before, When he was dating Akane all he did was act like his good boyfriend.
(we also see this fakeness play out with Aqua in Chapter 96, On the phone with Akane, Aqua overexaggerates his line.
"Akane kurokawa forceful enough to knock down a birds in flight, Can feel nervous too?" - Aqua C96.
One thing, I noticed is this scene alot of people take it in face value. Akane refers to them as a fake couple who started in dating show. Meaning they are still a fake couple despite dating for real. And then says Aqua is a liar trying his best not to lie to her.
When she says"Aqua-kun is a liar trying his best not to lie to me" Alot people take this explanation ins face value and think that Aqua actually trying to be honest with Akane.
But he isn't, if he was trying to be honest with her, Akane wouldn't need to hope that little by little lies become the truth. It's because Akane thinks that the lies will become the truth therefore Aqua is trying his best not to lie to her because the lies will eventually become the truth.
Spoiler alert; it doesn't :)
Now for chapter 97, And why it's actually not as romantic as people love romanticising it.
Remember when I said everything ONK is connected? yeah, let's start with chapter 98.

Chapter 97: Aqua
Akane:
Because of the GPS tag, Aqua already knows Akane was sleepy so then he ask.
Aqua:
he is actively getting confirmation that Akane will not be going to work on her next day. Hence why chapter 98, he is in his regular clothes and not his school uniform.
And yes, He does suspect Akane of knowing about the loophole. since he does remember her weird reaction and excuse in chapter 72.

Reason why the lies did not become the truth for Akane:

After she makes her excuse that she is on a diet, Akane askes Aqua that she wouldn't like him if she was fat, in which Aqua replied with I like you no matter what.
Akane believes Aqua's words, And thinks the lies have become the truth. (based on Akane's suirprise and smile)
So then slips up:
The choice that Akane is talking about is in Chapter 80, Where she said she wanted Aqua to forget about the incident.
Alot of shippers think that Akane is talking but the dating show even though in reality she isn't talking about the dating show. Since in Chapter 71, Akane said they have never kissed or held hands after the show ended.
"We haven't even kissed since that one time during the show's run. We haven't held hands." - C71
The last time they kissed was in chapter 78. And in Chapter 80, she made the choice to not tell about the loophole. After Akane claims she is so happy.
Aqua starts his monologue on how Akane saved him little by little.
He is lying, because how can Akane "save" him when she knows nothing about Gorou and the reincarnation. Furthermore, Those memories are not Aqua's memories.
Because when he said "Save me little by little" it's the umbrella scene, Why would Aqua imagine the umbrella scene when little by little is Akane's monologue in chapter 87.
"When you tell that its wrong, you say that it's wrong" - And it's from Chapter And hows Chapter 43 designated loser, Why would Aqua be wrong for telling Akane she will lose to Kana?
Again, I won't spent to much time analyzing Chapter 97, Also, The part that gets msinterpreted theb most is the What should I do question from Aqua, What should I do? He already decided to go back to his revenge (The moment he called Akane)
So, he isn't telling her that he wants to be with her, He says.

His asking Akane how far he should take his revenge whether he should live happily ever after like this. I love the phrase "happily ever after" because it's such common phrase used in fairy tales again highlighting the superficialness and fakeness of their relationship.
And by "Forget everything" Aqua means whether he should kill his father and forget anything ever happened. "OR" Implying he should self destruct, and go with original plan, kill his father and end his life.
And Akane's second slip up, Was when she said she'll help him carry burden. In chapter 72, she said that because she wanted to help kill his father. Chapter 97, she then slips up again. This time she didn't tell Aqua about the loophole hence how Aqua already knew Akane was going to kill hios father.
Chapter 72 Akane (before loophole) :

That you enter the show business to kill a certain person.
Well,, its not like i am against breaking up. but still, (showing that she did see it coming)

Chapter 97 Akane (After hiding the from Aqua):

That's how Akane got caught, because their is no burden to carry in chapter 97 because she hid the truth from Aqua.
He doesn't break up with her over the phone because he needs her to finish her investigation. That's why in chapter 99 Aqua already knew who his real father was.

needless, to say, Akane realizes that she couldn't save Aqua at all.
But, Akane also realized that his revenge self isn't his true self. I repeat Aqua isn't suited for revenge, true self is not his revenge self. I don't understand the people who try to make the fact Akane agreed to Aqua's revenge a good thing.
Again, Someone already made in entire analysis, explaining this. and Aqua's and Akane's perspective in chapter 97 and how Aqua operates between Kana and Akane. It's called the Love triangle of distance relations. (needlless to say Chapter 97, isn't supposed to be veiwed romantically)

Akane has been wanting to make Aqua ever since he saved her life. That was her goal.
Chapter 28:
Chapter 148:
Akane's wish from the start was to make Aqua happy because Aqua saved her life. She still needs to repay him and she wants to repay him by making him happy.
Hence why she agrees to the revenge no questions ask, because she thought that would make him happy.
When He tells her about the news of his dead father, She is confused the loophole present itself. but then choose to not tell him and try to make him forget about the incident to try make him happy. (which also failed because Aqua is reincarnated And Aqua also doesn't love her and they were in fake relationship. He also attracted to Kana.)
Her last resort was to kill Hikaru which again failed because Aqua stopped her. She realizes Aqua's true nature (Revenge self isn't his true self and it isn't something that is righteous or good) , And decides to stop him instead. But still wants to make him happy.
How is she going to make him happy and pay off her debt?
(Well, If she ever finds out the twins secret and starts digging into gorou's past in order to have him realize that his birth mom in previous life loved him so he can stop feeling guilty for existencing and stop doing things out of guilt.)

There is no reason why she would hide how she noticed Aqua was attracted to Kana when they were dating. Unlike Kana, Akane is a reliable source, Since she has dating Aqua for 6 months. Half a year. So she had enough time to think this over and come down to a conslusion that Aqua was attracted to Kana. (Which is true, because the anime made that clear, When Aqua said "that's right that's her speciality, after looking at her in awe when she perform in sweet today (which is also his favorite manga) But Aqua being attracted to Kana deserves seperate essay on its own.)
in comparsion, To Kana who just saw them together and immediately gave up. because Aqua spent the whole day not talking to her and isolating himself. Plus, she thinks that Aqua choose Akane in the beginning because He liked her. She doesn't know about revenge or how their relationship was actually like. And certainly doesn't know about the gps tag.
If she did she wouldn't be reccommending it lol.

WHY KANA AND SARINA IS ABLE TO CHANGE HIS STARS:

No stars means no purpose, But Aqua with the stars have purpose. Black stars is him being hyperfocus on revenge. And they only change black to white when he is with people who he has sympathy for.
Like for example, He has sympathy for Sarina, she is someone who is special to him. And he always admired her radiance and light.
Kana is able to do the same thing because its a callback to chapter 40,

I think Kana is endgame because Aqua's interveiw gave that away.

In his interveiw, Aqua says he won't fall in love, if he did he wouldn't be able to reciprocate and Then he said he only acts for revenge.

The reason why Aqua acts for revenge:

It was actually told to us in TB, As Gotanda observed that when Aqua starts to have fun he gets a panic attack. Hence why he shall never have fun in acting and only act for revenge.
Without revenge: He is acting to keep a distance from Kana and protect her by keeping himself busy.

In his love life however, As Gorou Amamiya: He lives for other people's happiness. And let's them do what they want.

Ruby said that sensei would perobably tell do whateecver she wants if he found out the reincanration. But that;'s exactly Aqua did for Ruby.

Similar to what he did to Akane, Akane him suspecting he may need her because of her excuse and providing emotional support for Akane in her upcoming movie. Since we are getting closer to the interveiws and the movie is finished. I'll be covering how all the kisses are out of obligation or he didn't see coming and How Aqua's messed up approach to love.
But all that you need to know is that with Akane, he was the "good boyfriend" and with Ruby he was "The DoctoSensei" Letting Ruby do what she wants.
However, with Kana their does not have a role to play. He isn't dating her and she certainly doesn't know about him being reincarnated. And she ISN'T throwing herself at him so could be Gorou let do what she was.
Hence in C146, Aqua stated Kana troubling for him. Not only does he have fun with her. He also doesn't have a role to play. So when he is around it's usually genuine. And that's a red flag for Aqua. because how on earth is he going the Gloomy emo, When he is with a girl who turns him into the opposite.?
Also, the more he hangs out the Kana, likely he will get a panic attack (Just like how he has fun with acting, Kana is no different. ) In the next chapter, assuming Akane would tell Kana the truth, the developments might be interesting, Kana will have the confidence to try and become Aqua's star again.
since the reason why gave up on becoming Aqua's star is because she didn't think liked her

She also said she make him love her but due to the following events of him dating Akane, and avoiding her to protect her. It's reasonable why she had given up. from her perspective.
(Keep in mind she doesn't know why Aqua choose Akane or how their relationship was like and she doesn't know that Aqua put a gps tag on to Akane for a year. )
But if Akane tells the truth, She will confidence again and try again in the Summer concert.

Archived Closed Circuit Security Video - Establishment: Exterminator’s Office - Dawn Creek Division - Date Recorded (ST): OCT 31, 2136 - Timeframe (ST): 11:37 - 11:45
Dozens of people sit in the meeting room, staring intently at a screen. It freezes when Nikonus reaches out a tentacle to slap down Cilany’s broadcasting camera. The feed cuts and leaves the meeting room staring at nothing. There is no noise for a moment as everybody looks at everyone else. The body languages of all in the room are tense in response to the information the broadcast had just provided them. This peace does not last long.
In the corner of the room, one black-suited Exterminator stands and attempts to raise their flamer. The perpetrator appears to be Venlil. Many other members of the room, particularly those of species mentioned in the broadcast, shrink away. Another Venlil rises from their seat and attempts to push the weapon’s nozzle down. They attempt to reason with the instigator. “Mafchi! What are you doing?? Put that thing away now!”
“Are you kidding?” The armed Venlil, Mafchi, responds. “We finally know why we’ve set up all those camps! It’s to corral all the predators into one place and purge them from the world! No wonder so many have tried to cozy up to the humans, predatory taint has been inundating us from between our eyes this whole time! Even here, in this very room!” Mafchi makes a sweeping gesture across the room. Exterminators who belong to omnivorous species shrink, except for one.
“What are you talking about, Mafchi??” A Tilfish officer lifts themselves from their thorax and points at Mafchi. “This is as much news to us as it is to you! Do you think that I, that any of us, knew about this?? I didn’t, that’s for damn sure! Now put down the brahking flamer and let us get scanned like all the others we’ve collected!” The screen comes back to life with the face of a Zurulian, but the focus is no longer on it.
“What, so you all can falsify yet more brain scans? That’s probably how you all have managed to keep yourselves hidden! Of course, how could I have not seen it before?? You! You’re all in cahoots with the Humans and Arxur! Making us tainted enough to where we willing turn ourselves over to be eaten! The humans they- they were just a test! You can’t hide your intentions anymore, vile predator scum!!” Mafchi attempts to raise their flamer again, but is once more stopped by the Venlil by their side.
The pair scuffle as they wrestle over the weapon. The rest of the crowd starts to murmur and move. Some Venlil and other herbivorous species distance themselves from their omnivorous companions. Some begin to apply their masks. A gap starts to form.
“Mafchi, that’s enough! You’re talking completely crazy! Drop the flamer and come with u-” The other Venlil is cut off by an elbow impacting their lower jaw. Their teeth audibly clack together before they fall to the ground. The situation rapidly worsens as many Exterminators grab their arms, pointing their flamers at one another. Omnivorous species point at herbivorous species, but several of the herbivores also join the side with Tilfish and Gojid. The gap grows wider as even more silver and black suited exterminators zip their masks over their heads.
“STOP!” A Kolshian stands from their seat and rushes into the middle of the fighting. They still have their mask hanging behind their head, their face fully visible. They hold their tentacles out to their sides in an attempt to keep hostilities from rising further. “Please, this doesn’t have to end in bloodshed! This is upsetting news, I know that for certain, but this is not the way to resolve it! We can’t just panic into madness and just start killing people! Mafchi, Iltivik, lower your weapons now!” Their tone is commanding, and for a brief moment, both parties obey. However, that is short lived.
“... Why are you saying this, Nhilasi?” Mafchi asks, leveling their weapon at the Kolshian, Nhilasi. “As a matter of fact, why don’t you tell us just how long you knew about all this?”
Nhilasi appears taken aback and her body language becomes far more animated as the situation devolves. “Me?? How could I have known? I just learned about this now!!”
The body language of the people on Mafchi’s side shifts. Tails lash in skepticism and hostility. “You think we’ll buy that for a second? It’s been through you that the predatorshit High Magister has been giving us orders! They had to have known about this before us, and that means you. And- and you’re a Kolshian! Nikonus said what the Kolshians did, it was your species that’s responsible for doing all- all this and then covering it up! It’s your fault that we’re so immolated by taint, you and your whole spehking species!!
Nhilasi attempts to reciprocate, but is cut off by Mafchi yelling to all the others in the room. “Exterminators! This is clear and distinct evidence of predator taint on a scale that we could not have imagined before! If you have any sense of duty left, you’ll help me subdue these predatory infiltrators and purge this district- nay, this planet of taint! Once! AND FOR ALL!” A solid majority of the herbivores raise their paws in solidarity. The omnivores and sympathetic herbivores are outnumbered at 2 to 1, which proves disastrous once Mafchi speaks again. “SEIZE THEM!!”
The meeting room descends into chaos at a moment’s notice, as every hostile officer goes after and attempts to subdue an omnivore or sympathetic herbivore. The camera’s microphone peaks multiple times during the chaos, in which the hostile attackers appear to be winning. Yet suddenly a group of three Venlil and two Gojid burst from the fray and stumble out of the room, the running out of sight. Over the sounds of distress and anger coming from the room, Mafchi’s voice can be heard as they speak into a comlink.
“Attention all True Exterminators, capture the predatory impostors in your midst and meet the rest of us out front. We will burn this building to the ground to wipe the taint from its very foundation! Our traitorous High Magister seeks to have us merely scan and release the predatory influence? We shall not let him! We will burn every last predator and sympathizer from the face of this district! From the face of this very planet!! We shall do what we have so long been incapable of now that we are freed from our false comrades! For the glory of the Federation! FOR THE GOOD OF THE HERD!!”
They pant as they deactivate their comlink and look at the terrified mass of omnivores and herbivores crowded against the corner of the room. Among them are the Venlil who attempted to stop Mafchi, Iltivik the Tilfish officer, and Nhilasi. The latter struggles against her restraints, her face contorted with anger at Mafchi. “You can’t do this! You’ll be facilitating a slaughter the likes of which can only be compared to the Arxur! Please, Mafchi, don’t do this. Let us all free and talk!”
Mafchi looks at Nhilasi and stops moving. Other screams and shouts can be heard faintly through the walls. They kneel down next to the group of restrained officers, their tail wagging gleefully. “Your predatory deception won’t work on us anymore. All of you will meet the ends your kinds should have seen hundreds of years ago. We will fix the Federation’s mistakes and finally clear the galaxy of predators once and for all! Starting. Right. Here.” There is venom in their voice as they bring their monologue to a close. They motion for the “True Exterminators” to follow them out the door, locking it behind them as they leave.
There is not much movement in the following minutes. The primary actions caught on tape are crying and pleading to be let go. Some hang their heads and others scream out in desperation. After a few minutes pass, Nhilasi grunts and manages to wiggle her tentacles out of their restraints. Her success is met with more pleas and sounds for her to help them. Once she undoes her leg restraints, she starts trying to free everyone else as well. “I know, I know! Damn it, I should’ve known that those new transfers would be nothing but trouble. If I meet that spehkbrain bird Estela again, I’m gonna-” She takes in a deep breath as she unlocks the restraints on a frightened Gojid officer. “Nope, I’m going to firmly scold her, that’s what I’ll do. Yep.”
She works on freeing others restraints, who in turn aid in her effort. Before long, all the officers are freed and nervously conversing amongst themselves. Among the murmurs are mentions of “maybe we are dangerous” and “what if we suddenly want meat?” These conversations are interrupted by Nhilasi, who stands on one of the desks. “Everyone, please listen to me!”
The voices die down and attention falls on her. She takes another breath before continuing. “I-I know that things seem bleak. Believe me, I had no idea this was what we were preparing for, but I don’t think that your species' past deserves for you to get burned! I was born and raised on Venlil Prime, and I have known many people from the races mentioned by Nikonus! In fact, I know a fair few here in this very room! You have dedicated your lives to protecting the weak of the herd, and nothing in your genetic past can change that commitment! I have no intention of you dying here today! We can take them! Come on!”
Nhilasi hops off the desk and rushes to the door, using a keycard to unlock it and hold it open for the rest of the room. They start to filter out at varying paces, but do eventually vacate the room. The room is empty for 92 seconds before screaming can be heard from somewhere else in the building. Immediately following this, a bright flash engulfs the camera lens and the feed goes dead. The error code is consistent with that of electrical interruption.

As I laid on the bed, I started to get concerned. It shouldn’t have taken Orhew this long to get the Strayu out of the forge given that he wouldn’t need to use protection to retrieve it. I tried to push my worries to the back of my mind, but I was ultimately unsuccessful in my endeavors. Furthermore, I could hear voices coming from the central room, likely from the holovision. Is he watching something?
Unable to contain my curiosity, I managed to hop down from the bed and make my way towards the door. My steps were unsteady due to the pleasure Orhew had bestowed upon me during our mating, but I was able to push through. As I placed my paw on the door, I heard something drop to the ground, the definitive sounds of other people talking echoing through Orhew’s abode. I had no idea what was going on, so with a moment’s hesitation, I slid open the door.
The previously muffled voices roared to life as I heard what sounded like a male Gojid speak through the screen. “No. You’re lying,” the Gojid said, the holoscreen showing him on his hands and knees as he panted heavily. He looked to be in immense pain, something which I couldn’t quite understand as he was unscathed. Orhew was standing still, both eyes affixed to the screen with a Strayu knife in his left hand and the loaf we had made fallen on the ground.
…What’s going on?
I decided to watch silently as g gthe scene continued. “I am not. See, Cilany? It’s cruel.” Another voice piped up from the screen and the shot rapidly changed to a familiar face. Is that… Chief Nikonus? How are we getting a feed from Federation space? The camera shook slightly as the recorder’s voice, Cilany I presumed, came from the screen in turn. “I don’t know what to say. This is a lot at once.”
As the camera panned back to find the Gojid completely curled up on the ground sobbing, I grew more and more concerned. What was this? Why was Orhew watching it? What’s a lot to take in at once?? My focus darted between the screen and Orhew, who was starting to shake. I could hear his heavy breathing even from across the room, and I wanted to go and comfort him from whatever this w-
“Now, you see why it’s important to protect these secrets. People like the Gojids can live in peace from their past. We’ve made it possible for them to walk among us, without threatening stability. We saved them.”
…What?
“What you did is wrong. You’ve been conducting genetic engineering, on innocent species, at…I don’t even know how large a scale. Your actions are going to kill us all, between the Arxur and the humans!”
Genetic engineering? Saved us? What…what does that…
“You haven’t learned a thing here. If you publish any of this, I’ll shoot it down as a wild fabrication. There’s no proof. Nobody would believe you.” Nikonus sneered at Cilany and whoever the Gojid was, the camera quickly panning down to him before Cliany chuckled darkly. “They don’t have to believe me. You just told everyone yourself.”
Nikonus’s eyes bulged from his head and he started to shout something, but my attention was drawn away once I realized that Orhew was no longer facing the screen. He was facing me, directly. Both of his eyes stared at me, sending chills down my spines in a way not even Humans could muster. What’s going on?? What was Nikonus talking about?!
“Orhew, wh-” I started to ask, but the [second] I took a step towards him, he leveled the knife he was holding directly at me. What- why- he- this- “Orhew, w-what’s going on? Why was Nikonus on the HV?? W-Why are you holding a knife at me?!” I can barely breathe, oh Protector what’s happening??
He was silent, scanning me up and down as his body shook uncharacteristically. I had never seen him like this before, and it was scaring me. After an agonizingly long and silent moment, he finally spoke. “is it true?”
“W-What?” I stammered, barely able to hear his voice over my racing heart. I heard strange noises coming from outside, but my focus was entirely on him. “Is what true? Orhew, what was that on the screen? Please, tell me!”
His ears wavered slightly at my admission of fear, but that moment of hesitation was followed by a fiery anger the likes of which I’ve never seen from him before burning in his eyes. He bared his teeth at me and violently pointed at the screen with his free hand, just as a Zurulian appeared in what looked like the district’s PSA format. “you can’t deceive me anymore.”
I looked back at thes screen as the woman began talking, but I couldn’t pay attention to what she was saying, not through my confusion and terror at the situation. Not even a few [minutes] ago, he and I were the happiest we’ve ever been, and now he thinks I’m deceiving him? “Orhew please, I don’t know what you mean! Tell m-”
“DON’T YOU DARE, PREDATOR!!”
…Predator?
Orhew nearly collapsed into a coughing fit after he attempted his scream at me. His voice, normally soft and raspy, was a gravelly mess raw with rage and sadness as he had tried to use them without his electrolarynx. But why would he call me a predator? What did he…
“Now, you see why it’s important to protect these secrets.”
“You’ve been conducting genetic engineering, on innocent species, at…I don’t even know how large a scale!”
“We saved them.”

I had to steady myself against the table to keep from falling over from shock, my arm barely strong enough to keep me upright. My heart pounded in my ears, drowning out the noises from the world around me as I struggled to remain conscious. No, no I couldn’t- That’s not- I’m not a-a…
Orhew was crying. The knife trembled in his paw as he stared at me, muttering to himself under his breath. I was only barely able to make out “pure” and “tainted” as he stared at me, full tears nearly pouring from his eyes. My own face felt wet as I realized what this had to mean.
Gojids are Predators.
“why?” Orhew asked me, his breathing almost as ragged as mine. I tried to tell him that I didn’t know, that I would never hurt anyone, but how could I know that was true? Was that what my impulses were? Predatory instincts reawakened?? …No sound came out of my mouth.
I heard Orhew gasp as he choked on his own mucus, followed by another horrible, wheezing attempt at a yell. “WHY?!” His legs gave out from under him and he collapsed to his knees, sobbing to himself next to the loaf of Strayu we had made. I almost reached out to help him, but I withdrew myself at the last second. He wasn’t safe around me, nobody was. How many things might I have tainted without even realizing?? I…I tainted him, didn’t I?
“O-Orh-hew, I-I-” I barely managed to choke out through my own tears and mucus, taking a step back for fear that my presence was only making things worse. My heart yearned to do something, anything, to ease the pain Orhew had to be feeling, but I refused it. Is that just another predatory trick I’m playing on myself? Who am I? What am I?!
“i-i trusted you,” Orhew coughed out, still reeling from raising his voice so much. Every syllable that came from his mouth stabbed me with another pang of sorrow. “how c-could you…you were pure…b-but I…” He shakily rose to his paws and started to stagger towards me, knife still in paw. I didn’t want him to be anywhere close to a monster like me, so I slid away on the ground, my spines fully flexed to the point of pain.
“i-i need…n-need to purge the taint,” he said, drawing closer towards me with the cooking instrument. How, how could this have happened?? Why did I have to be a…a… It only then occurred to me what he meant by that as his features bubbled with a mixture of agonizing emotions.
“i need to purge you.”
Even through the chemical cocktail that was my brain, my flight instincts kicked into overdrive. “N-No, Orh-hew, please! Please! I-I didn’t k-know about a-any of this!! I-I don’t wa-ant to hurt you!! Please, d-don’t ki-kill me!!” I pleaded for my life as the tears streamed from my eyes, my chest feeling so tight I thought it was about to implode. My vision was bleary with tears as I begged for my life to the man I love, unsure if it was even the right thing to do.
As Mute towered over me, I was unable to look away as he raised the knife above his head, his eyes alone conveying a tidal wave of pain and suffering hidden beneath his short wool. I closed my eyes and waited for him to do what needed to be done…only to be met by the sound of steel clattering against linoleum.
The strike never came.
After a moment, I opened my eyes to see him shaking and muttering to himself words that I could no longer hear from him. From the one I had unknowingly ensnared into whatever dastardly predatory deception I had created deep in my psyche. Even though my body was screaming at me to run, I couldn’t. My mind wouldn’t let me because I knew that I was a danger to everyone else, no matter how good I thought I had become. Because I’m nothing more than a filthy predator. Because death by his paws is what I deserve for everything I've done.
“...go.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. Mute looked at me with a mixture of anger, pain, and sorrow in his features as he pointed sternly at the door. I looked between it and him, my adrenaline-addled mind struggling to comprehend what he was doing. My look only seemed to worsen his inner turmoil, as he clutched his head and screamed at me one last time.
“GO!!!”
That was the loudest I’ve ever heard him speak, even while using his ‘voice.’ The very floor shook with the force of his words, shattering my heart into a billion pieces from the sheer torment in his voice. Mute quickly descended into a violent coughing fit, and suddenly all the inhibitions I had melted away. With a speed beyond my physical limits, I bolted out the door of his house, my reality, and our life together in the unknown streets of the city. I was vaguely aware of people screaming and bodies littering the roadways.
Without thinking, I started to stumble down the road as fast as my paws could take me. I was heading towards the Exterminator’s office, they-they could tell me this wasn’t true, right? That this was all some big misunderstanding, and that I could go back to my happy life, right? I heard a terrible scream from behind me, its baritone raspiness serving to pulverize what was left of my soul. If I even have one.
I just need to get to the office, they’ll be able to help. They’ll be able to save me, just like they did all those [years] ago. Yeah, Nikonus said they saved us! They can do it again! They have to. They have to. They have to. They HAVE TO! Please, oh Protector Please let this be a bad dream! I want this nightmare to end, I want him to wake me up!
I just want my Kavelun back.

Mission Log: Day 0024

Addendum 04

Packard and his 'scouts' made their way back up to the foyer, and gave their verbal report to Lord Zee and the rest of the crowd. Reviewing the security footage let me know that the 'nobles' and their personal servants had been jockeying for positions, each one trying to claim their own 'scandalously common' picnic tables of the four, while Lord Zee had been 'inspecting' the lavatories'. Fortunately, with one lady seemingly fast asleep at one table and the other, alone among the lot in her willingness to share, simply claimed the opposite side of the same table. That left the 'boys' bickering more about which of the three remaining tables held the more 'prestigious' or 'auspicious' position; I honestly wasn't all that certain how the screaming-match would have progressed if there hadn't been enough tables to go around. The overall enthusiasm for the arguments died down as soon as Lord Zee exited the lavatories and proclaimed them 'less than perfectly dignified for those of the nobility, but safe enough' that his family could avail themselves of the two rooms. Nehdud, with Stakkeg in his wake, made a pretty obvious dash for the door Lord Zee had just passed back through. Haruinn, weighed down with all his cutlery, had no chance of beating his relative... cousin? Brother? Nephew?... to the 'room of comfort', but followed as quickly as he could. Midmolk, bless the man, lugged that tower-shield along and even into the lavatory.
It would take a few clock-cycles to collate the data made available from what the Lignignories left in the lavatories. However, I had no doubts that as soon as I had the medical-bay finished, there would be a lot of recommendations for each one of them just in terms of diet. And the collection of infections, bacterial and viral and possibly parasitical, among the lot would likely be lengthy...
Ah, well. “Disaster recovery” covered quite a wide array of needs, did it not?
My inventory-monitor let me know that at least one of the men had indulged in their curiosity about the mysterious 'extra boxes' on the walls of the lavatory-stalls. Nothing terribly impressive there, considering that the Fuin-Braetehl boys had done the same and promptly used the resulting pads as insoles for their boots. However, the 'culprit' turned out to be Kregorim. I had half-expected Lord Zee to play around with the dispensers, or even his servant, but I suppose that one doesn't become a magician without having considerable curiosity about any strange new phenomenon.
Kregorim came out of the room behind Lord Zee and the other man, carrying a small bag of faded blue cloth in his left hand and loitering around beside the other door while Lord Zee made his announcement. He also pretended to be fascinated by the water-dispenser while the two boys and their servants made a stiff-kneed, mad dash for the lavatory Lord Zee had just exited; regardless of the layout inside, the fact that Lord Zee had entered that one made it “Gentlemen's territory” by fiat.
Ah, well. If I really needed to, my nanites could move the 'feminine necessities' into the other room.
Kregorim waited until Adallinda and her personal attendant Pippa had exited... which took almost 30.57 minutes after Lord Zee and the others had completed their own 'business'... and begged a momentary indulgence from them while he entered. And it really did take only 1.503 minutes for him to come back out again.
Adallinda delivered some choice words on the subjects of the stalls themselves as well as the magician's 'audacity' of entering the Ladies' room of comfort to the slowly-growing audience of Lignignories, attendants, and other ragged-looking folk. Though directed primarily to her father, of course. While she delivered her monologue to Lord Zee, Kregorim showed the six samples of 'feminine hygiene products' he had received from the dispensers in the other room to Pippa. Her look of mild confusion switched to wide-eyed blushes as he murmured an explanation to her behind his upraised hand, but at least she wound up smiling and nodding when he straightened up. Pippa proceeded to discreetly signal to Totra and Yera, her working counterpart-servants to the other Lignignory ladies. Kregorim gave a shallow bow in their direction, letting the servants exchange the necessary information in their own way.
While the whisper-line spread the word among the ladies, Lord Zee conferred with Packard about next steps. Well, 'conferred' might be the wrong word; Lord Zee demanded to know which of the available units were best suited to his lordly self, and that he and his servants get escorted there immediately. Packard had Tianna and himself lead the way, winding up with Lord Zee, his flock of attendants, and Kregorim trailing behind.
The magician kept up with the group, running his hands along the railings and staring at the odd 'not-moss' on the stairs undersides. He also got a very good and close look at the biometric scanner, as Tianna demonstrated that the flat panel of the door would only open after someone's hand pressed on the black not-glass.
“Hmph!” Lord Zee snorted. “So any random brigand could just press their hand to the door and gain access to my noble self? Packard, we'll be discussing guard-rotations as soon as our luggage is in place!”
Tianna and Packard led the way inside, Lord Zee following and the rest of the 'servants' behind him. The tension around Lord Zee's eyes relaxed just a little as he noted the space just within. The layout amounted to adding a second bedroom and bathroom on the end of the 'main suite', extending the 'utility room' so that all the fabricators stood in a line along one wall, and expanding the kitchen for more counter-space and cabinets on the opposite side of that wall. Back home, an apartment unit like this would've been suitable for a young couple climbing their way out of the less-reputable neighborhoods and willing to have a child or two in the process, or off-campus housing for a few college students.
For Lord Zee, though...
“Hmph! Space enough for myself, I suppose, and to quarter my servants to act as guards until we get some proper deterrents installed... And not so much as a trace of a decent carpet or rug, just more of that strange... stuff... for flooring?”
“Correct, sir,” Packard answered, before gesturing at the fabricator-banks. “However, these 'magic trunks' over here will help with at least some of that...”
It felt a little bit like listening to one pre-Information Age grandfatherly-type trying to explain a modern desktop computer to another. Admittedly, Packard and Tianna did do a decent job of walking Lord Zee... and his now-named chief personal servant, Delweard... through the process of fabricating dishware, bedding, and various other basics. Lord Zee nodded in the right places, even mastered his own obvious nervousness about touching the 'mirror' on the 'magic trunk' well enough to design and trigger the 'build' for a simple chair.
“These markings...” Kregorim said, examining the screens on the 'laundry' machine. “They seem similar to the written form of Trade Tongue, but with traits more commonly used by those further north...”
“Well and good,” Lord Zee answered. “Clearly a sign from the Master Navigator that we of House Lignignory are meant to return there and rebuild our power. We shall use this... outpost... as a staging area for our journey to Baerston Stronghold...”
I tuned out yet another extended monologue on the subject, focusing more on Packard, Tianna and Kregorim as they gathered around another fabricator out of Lord Zee's direct line of sight; Delweard motioned for the rest of the ragged-looking servants to take their places as an almost-literal captive audience to hold Lord Zee's attention while the other three talked.
“Why five magic trunks...?” Kregorim asked, half to himself and half to the others.
Packard turned his head in Tianna's direction, and nodded.
Tianna frowned, holding a stance that left the magician facing her left shoulder while she kept her right hand close to the hilt of her knife. “Stockley and I didn't feel comfortable examining them too closely when we first searched the quarters, magician,” she explained. “Nothing sprang to mind except that, perhaps, whatever power built this place intended it for use by a family, perhaps to allow the Mam, the Da, and the young ones of age to use them properly to do so all at once?” Then she nodded in the direction of the hip-high surfaces on the walls at the side and rear of the room. “No sink, no lines, no washtub, but something about those tables made both of us think of laundry-rooms for some reason.”
Kregorim glanced over his shoulder, his hands drifting through movements much like folding clothes, and he nodded. “A reasonable assumption, Miss,” he answered, his tone distant. Then he turned back to the pair. “I take it that you've already determined who is to be quartered where?” he asked, tilting his head in Lord Zee's direction. “For the safety of House Lignignory, of course.”
One of Packard's eyebrows rose a millimeter, returned to place. He gestured to the side, then curved the hand downward. “Beside us is another set of chambers like this, but mirrored,” he explained. “And directly below us, duplicates of both. Further dawnward are four smaller such, two above and two below. I and mine haven't as much need for space as the Lignignories, and at least two of us'll be on patrol at any given hour, so we'll take two of them for guard-quarters and rotate in and out as needed. Figure that the clients will want us close to hand, so we've left you the one on the end, down on ground level.”
Kregorim nodded. “Fair enough,” he answered. “Need either of you be present to grant me entrance, or may I make my way there alone, now?”
At their headshakes, he stepped over to Lord Zee's side and waited for the man to take a breath. “With your permission, your lordship, I shall go inspect my own quarters before deciding where to set my luggage,” he said.
Lord Zee turned in place, flustered at the interruption. “What, what, what?” he stammered, before recovering himself a bit. “You dared to claim a space before I, your Lord, had chosen one for you?”
Packard stepped up, one hand up with palm out. “It was a security decision, your lordship,” he said, his tone even. “The two units at the end of this line are closest to what seems to be a trail leading to the opposite cliffside. Between my people and the magician's arts, we should be able to form a suitable defense against any intruders approaching from that direction.”
Mollified, Lord Zee nodded. “Very well, you may proceed then, magician.” His 'chair' build completed, he opened the build-chamber hatch and glared at the contents. “Packard, what manner of japery is this?” he demanded, and Tianna took over explaining that the 'blocks' inside constituted the compact, even portable, form of the chair he had requested. She handed the pieces, one at a time, to Delweard and the other servants, who were able to get them all snapped and twisted together into a solid-looking straight-backed chair.
Lord Zee gestured for them to move the thing into the center of the main room and settled into it, wriggling in place before returning his attention to more important matters. “Delweard, where do you suppose we should quarter the stock for the night?” the balding 'noble' asked.
Kregorim took his leave, walking back to the lobby-area and taking those stairs down to the ground floor, then proceeding past the other doors... and to my considerable surprise, ignoring the maintenance staircase... to the last panel, next to the final door.
He pressed his hand to it. I took a clock-cycle to include notes in my own files to warn Thakhibi, Sudryal, and the others that I had needed to let someone else use 'their' quarters until I could finish getting another floor's worth of accommodations finished, then granted him access. The magician nodded as the door opened, and he stepped inside.
He glanced around, noting the presence of the fabrication units in the utility room. Then his eyes roved across the walls...
“I take it that you were waiting until I was somewhat separated from the others, and in suitable privacy,” he said, addressing the air and taking a balanced stance in the center of the main room. “I do hope that you've decided to introduce yourself. I am called Krunorim Kregorim, magician, oathbound servant to Lord Zortemos Egenor Lignignory the Fourth, and I would very much like to speak with the one whose mind I touched not to long ago..."

2024.05.13 07:34 CrystalCommittee The film that broke me (But did it?) Don't give up.

Yes, I am pinning this, because I can! (I'm the moderator and this is my thread).
Note: I'm doing this because many of you, and many more I chat with, are falling into the caveats of 'gotta do this first', etc., and nothing gets done.
So flags and warnings: THIS IS A FILM ABOUT SELF-INJURY AND DEPRESSION! (Eight years, no one bothered with the trailers and the like, then suddenly uproar, yeah...dealing with that). Note: It's all fake, absolutely no harm came to any of my actors. But I pulled it off, and spent like no money!
Why am I doing this? Because I wrote for the screen. But I'm also an editor at its base, a camera jockey, and a producer (take all the money out of those titles). I have been through all the things that you see as hurdles right now: getting the publisher, selling your book, and finding someone to produce it.
Just ask yourself, could you ever find someone like me, that didn't cost you a dime, that would work with you, and take your vision to the screen? That's a goal for most, but you don't know what is involved. I actually do.
The below links are to a film I exec. produced (I was the money I could have done it without, but I was playing the game, and I did it well), Produced (I made things happen, like coordinating locations, actors, etc), and shot it (I was the only camera -- all one). I was the Editor. (I didn't want to be, but shit happens. I color-corrected, fixed the sound, and a million other things). There is something to be said about editing your own work, and that is what I was trying to avoid. I ended up doing i, with help.
I realize 99% of you have no idea what I just mentioned above.
Twelve days, people, twelve! Everything you see, was shot with one camera in twelve days. I can't share the version I really liked that shows it all and has the music that I PAID for to be in it....shit! Youtube locked me out of that account. No worries, I can upload it, but it's on a harddrive and effort. When I say I paid for it, I put my lead actresses' sister in a recording studio to record a full album. (My lead actress had other things to do, that paid better, but I kept to my word.) I'll share with Ocham's razor (the band) 'cause yah, behind the scenes a lot on that.
But those twelve days? They had a lot before and a lot after. That screenplay XT wrote, wouldn't have ever passed a test. But she wrote it, and I said I'd shoot it. It was 30 pages (General rule, about a minute to a page) Yeah, no, that went out the window with the flashbacks. I had an MC that didn't say a word until the very end with a 12 minute monologue. (You try holding a camera through three takes of Natasha emoting in a cemetery in Bothell WA in NOVEMBER! and see how you do.)
For film, it was difficult, I didn't care. Written? Damn, it carried weight. It was a ten-minute read. Video? To get it all? about 45 mins. And yeah, directors choice, 'lights in motion' because so much of it was in flashbacks, and memory sucks. Three to four versions of a 'scene' which one is real? (If you know anything about video or theatre, lights in motion are just 'bad!'. Made it work until I had to mix shots together. (Editor stuff).
So this was the final edit of it. (Color corrected, a musical score designed for it.) Seconds And the closest I can come (right now) to how it should have been, 7b
What do I want you to get from this? you don't need the publisher house, you don't need to fork out 100's or 1000's of dollars to see it come to life. There is going to be someone like me who can do that, and we just want to add it to a bullet point in a resume. (I didn't need that, but okay.) Just before this, I shot a fan film (No money could be made on it) between witchblade and Tombraider, the comics. I had both comic writers letting me do it. Money got in the way, (And actors needing to move to greener pastures, as I couldn't pay them). It was called "Awakenings" And I did it twice over. I'm an editor at heart, so we get videos that don't do them justice. One character (Pez) Video I made because of stuff. (This was six hours in a space, and the secondary that happened in the same and time) Video This was all pre-2007. We spent hours! making it, setting up the scenes, etc, it and got boiled down to 4 min videos that get nuked because I used full songs.
I did a second attempt at awakenings, got more footage, but I couldn't go any further. And it is part of where my Sam/Amanda story comes from. Am I trying to appease the 'publisher gods?" sure, i'd like it to be that level. But I know I can go around it. And so can all of you.
Do it, because you love it. My writing was originally intended to be short webisodes, that launched off of my own server. I can't (I can, but it involves too much, capitalizing at its best). I sold my equipment to move, but you know, I can do what I did with a phone. (Gods help me for saying that).

SECTION 1: CUT SKETCHES

All quoted dialogue is approximate, I do not have an eidetic memory. Also, I interchangeably use cast and character names because not every character is named, and I try to defer to in-sketch pronouns.
MOM NEWS
INT. A newsroom set. Squirm and Rudolph plays reporters on a local news station called “Mom News,” featuring them and their correspondents. All characters are referred to as “your mom” or “your father” in their introductions and provide very mother-like commentary. News stories include: “Something bad has happened to someone you barely know,” and “your mom accidentally left a reply to a post on Facebook about a funeral with a gif of “Uncle Fester spinning a cane.”

Johnson and Troast then report on entertainment news. They show a photo of Zendaya at the Met Gala, and then Troast says that Zendaya is “too skinny” and Johnson says “she needs to eat a cheeseburger.” Squirm then sidebars to Maya to say, “You know Zendaya is dating Tim Holland?” Another story features Kearney warning that if you receive a “spam likely” call, you should make sure to pick it up because there’s probably an issue with your bank and you should buy as many Target gift cards as they ask for. Gardner reports on “something you’ve known about for years,” as she’s recently discovered boba before having issues with her technology and playing the Spanish language soccer channel.
Finally, Nwodim and Thompson play a couple, “your mom and your dad.” In a snappy, well-rehearsed, back-and-forth, Thompson reveals that he had tried to fix the broken water heater and failed, and now Nwodim can hold this over his head forever. Nwodim: “And this means you’ll be wearing what at our next dinner?” Thompson: “That ugly ass shirt.” Nwodim: “Sorry, what was that?” Thompson, cowed: “...The nice shirt you bought me, I mean.” which he initially refers to as an “ugly ass shirt.” The anchors end the segment with the news after the break: “a worrying shift in my political opinions” and an “out-of-pocket comment about your dad’s penis.”
BARRY THE MIDWIFE [recurring]
This is a sequel to the original BARRY THE MIDWIFE sketch from the Quinta Brunson/Jonas Brothers episode in Season 48.
Structured in a series of flash-forwards and flashbacks Barry, the midwife, and a doula played by Rudolph, bickering with each other before reconciling. The doula was either “Carla” or “Carly,” I don’t quite remember.
INT. Birth #1 [present]: Troast is delivering, and Hernandez is the father. JAJ is the doctor, but Rudolph is the doula, and Yang is Barry the Midwife. The doula and midwife speak with the same odd pronunciations of words, like “curious” as “curr-ous” and “Paris” as “per-ous.” They also sport the same awkward bob. They have competing catchphrases; Barry keeps saying “Clear a path. Clear a path.” whereas the doula keeps saying “Make a hole. Make a hole.” The doula says, “It’s nice to meet you,” to Barry, which offends him. “Um, actually, we’ve met. Remember? We met in a hot tub after the season finale of Survivor in 2000 when we were both upset that Richard Hatch won.” The doula: “Oh, I guess I don’t remember that.” Barry: “Well, while you were trying to remember, I was delivering this baby.” He casually holds up a baby doll.
INT. Birth #2 [4 years later]: This time, the expecting parents are P. Johnson and Kearney. The doula enters and says “Nice to see you again,” but Barry pretends not to remember her. The doula: “What? Barry, we first met in a hot tub after the season finale of Survivor in 2000 when we were both upset that Richard Hatch won. And then we met again four years earlier.” Barry says the doula has an “elephant memory” for remembering something from 28 years ago, followed by “Girl! respect yourself.” Barry also gets mad when the doula says he’s clearly been copying her hair (at this point they both have long, flowing, silky black tresses). Barry ends with “While you were busy accusing me, I just delivered these triplets. Lesbos always have extros.” He holds up three baby dolls in one arm.
EXT. Hot tub [24 years ago]: Barry and the doula bond over their dislike of the season finale of Survivor while in the hot tub. Barry also adds “I love your hair. I might copy it one day.” (The doula has the exact same awkward bob as in the first scene.) The two suddenly make a pact to marry each other if they are both still single by the 50th anniversary of that night’s episode of Survivor.
INT. Birth #3 [26 years later]: Since Rudolph and Yang were just submerged in a real hot tub in the other set, they’re asked by the new couple (I don’t remember who these are, maybe Garnder and Day?) why they’re soaking wet. Yang’s excuse: “I just did a water birth. Girl, respect yourself.” The doula’s excuse: “It was raining outside and I fell on my head. Girl, respect yourself.” At this point, their long, flowing tresses are now grey with age. Barry then turns and says to the doula, “It’s nice to meet you,” and she finally confronts him: “Aren’t you tired of being petty?”. Barry gives in and says, “It’s nice to see you,” and reminds her of their 50-year pact which is approaching the next week.
EXT. HOT TUB [26 years and 1 week later] The two marry in the hot tub (in makeshift wedding regalia) and Squirm gets in the hot tub to throw two babies at them.
\** Editorial note from sashalemon96: “I think the reason this one didn’t land as well as the one for Brunson is because (at least during dress) they throw the baby into the fire and it starts smoking screen creating laughter as they run to the other set. They also took a very long time to get back and from the hot tub set to the hospital set.”****
JAMES AUSTIN JOHNSON AS BRIAN COX [update character]
Jost tees this up by explaining that lately, Brian Cox has been in the news for his many controversial opinions, such as “Jeremy Strong being annoying” or “the Bible being the worst book ever written.” Brian Cox is fed up with the Kendrick LamaDrake beef. He refers to them as a pair of “second-rate poets” and acts mock scared that “K. Dot” will throw his Pulitzer at him. Che follows up with “What about Drake?” and Cox replied, “What is Drake going to do? Have his fans throw their fidget spinners at me?” Cox also expresses mock sympathy that they’re hurting each others’ feelings, before suggesting the two men “go to Iraq.” Che warns that Cox shouldn’t be talking shit about the two rappers, but Cox retorts “What are they going to do—blow my top off like the Boeing whistleblowers?” and then mocks Kendrick’s height. At one point Cox ends a sentence with “and that’s on God… who doesn’t exist, by the way.” Cox then throws some shade at Che for his inability to find a wife even though Jost married an Avenger, adding “can you not find a woman who wants your Ant-Man sized penis?”

I’m gonna be so real with you guys, these days I’m so tired I just go home after dress rehearsal and sleep through the live show, so these changes are submitted by another friend.
  1. In dress, Colin was specified to be wearing a “Stormy Daniels wig” during the monologue, in hopes that he could be in the political sketch about the Trump trials.
  2. The original first excuse Rudolph comes up with in CAN YOU PICK ME UP was that the dead grandma didn’t want her funeral to interfere with work.
  3. The joke about “Republicans in bed with Trump” was added afte dress.
  4. TEACHER PSA didn’t originally end with Nwodim telling the girl to sit down. I don’t remember the original ending, but I remember it was kind of weak.

SECTION 4: SUNDRY NOTES

  1. Ezra Koenig said “Hi, Maya!” right before they started performing.
  2. There were a bunch of off-screen mistakes during the dress version of NURSE AD. Poor Fineman had the wrong cue cards when it came to one of her lines, and she looked genuinely terrified when trying to figure out what she was supposed to say. Then the camera cut to her when it was supposed to be on Rudolph and P. Johnson. Finally, she randomly had a sneeze attack during JAJ’s lines. I’ve never thought about what happens when you sneeze on SNL before, lol.
  3. Interestingly enough, there were two cameras for LANDSCAPERS but only one set of cue cards, so Wally had to dash back and forth with the same set of cue cards every time we changed scenes. I’ve also never seen that happen before. Poor Wally!

Title - The Code
The title has a double meaning. “Code”, in computer terms, code is a programming language. Binary code is the most basic form of computer code, consisting of two numbers: 0 and 1. These numbers form the basic layer of all computing systems and are the primary language of digital technologies.
However, code also refers to the generally unknown, and something that is difficult to uncover (such as a phone passcode). The title may also suggests that there's a secret or a set of principles to be deciphered within the narrative of the lyrics. This could refer to unlocking the mysteries of life or finding one's own personal purpose.
In this song, which speaks about the singer’s journey to find their authentic, non-binary self, the “code” is used to refer to both meanings simultaneously, and breaking “the code” is the singer refusing to confirm to societal pressure to choose a binary of “man” or “woman”, but breaking out and just being Nemo.

2024.05.12 22:54 Cordoban Is Ainz supposed to be a villain

So, I stumbled across another post where it said that apparently people are not clear on whether Ainz is a villain or protagonist. And the poster kinda implied that people are stupid for not realizing that Ainz is the villain.
First, up: I only know the anime. Haven't started either manga or wn yet.
From what I saw, I don't remember Ainz guild being "bad" players ( like player killers just to annoy noobs). I think they just shared a quirky sense in rpg or something (going by their choices of NPCs). Ainz just looked like a lich simply because that seems "appropriate" if you play a lich/necromancer (or whatever his class is).
So, he wakes up in isekai land and doesn't begin conquering everything. At the start this is explained with Ainz not knowing a) whether this is real or not, b) if there a re other player, and c) how string he ( and his band) actually is.
And when he adds subjects to his realm (like the lizards people) he more or less acquires them in a way less bloody way than you would expect from a villain.
I also get the feel from his inner monologue that he is not a bad guy / asshole.
IIRC, there is -later on- a scene where one of the level lords needs slaves for experiments, and AInz tells him to only use criminals. (Neither is good guy territory, but it shows that Ainz isn't without any morals).
Also IIRC, isn't the only reason he destroys that kingdom's army because they wouldn't leave him alone otherwise?
So, while Ainz might not be a hero, he isn't just a villain either (well, from the human kingdom's perspective, sure).
The way I see it, isn't Ainz more or less a "tragic hero" where he tries to do right, but the rules of the world and its society throw a spanner in the works.

Spoiler alert
So Bibbojaan is a revolutionary and had Henderson under her thumb. She had many private moments with him, so why did she choose to kill him in public? Wouldn’t it have made more sense for her to kill him in private, like how Alam kills Cartwright? She wouldn’t have been caught so easily then?
And what was up with Fareedan and Waheeda switching sides? What why when that happened? Their motivations made no sense to me.
And if Alam was going to run away only, why did Saima have to be with Wajid/Ali to save her nath utrai? I mean if running away was an option that easily accessible, shouldn’t Alam and Saima both have just run away together away from Heeramandi? And after Alam runs away, Saima is gone too? How and where? I know they say Kolkata later but how did she end up there? And if Saima was going to run away only eventually, then why bother with that whole scene with Wajid/Ali? It was so unnecessary.
There are so many plot points in the show that made no sense whatsoever. And what was that monologue about the tawaifs making sacrifices and playing a crucial role in the freedom fight? The show literally showed no such thing except Bibbo’s arc. No one else did anything for aazaadi. Alam was a poet and didn’t even write 2 words about aazaadi? It was all just ek baar dekh lijiye bas humein? Nothing for freedom?
So Bhansali wants us to acknowledge that tawaifs were unsung heroes during the freedom movement without showing anything they did to support the cause?! I mean?!?!?!
And what’s up with that last mahila morcha they took out? What was the point of that? What did it accomplish?
Sorry for the rant and a much longer post than I initially intended. But I just finished watching the series and I’m feeling frustrated!
