2024.06.07 21:55 chau-a-not-chau-bcdf My current ink collection
| Family photo. I think I prefer Sailor over Pilot inks now, just slightly. Sailor inks that begin in Y have me in a chokehold: Yonaga, Yomogi, Yukiakari, Yamadori. Incredibly gorgeous inks. Thoughts: inks are fun and they inspire me to work harder, to buy more inks. Inks in my collection i dont love: Oxblood, Ocean Noir, Hana Ikeda (too light) Inks in my collection i havent tried: Sailor Soute, Pilot Tsuyu Kusa, Diamine Sherwood Green submitted by chau-a-not-chau-bcdf to fountainpens [link] [comments] |
2024.06.07 21:52 FineThenNoUsername My Disney Itinerary - do I have too much planned? Disney Newbie - am I being unrealistic?
I have never been to Disney before, I am fortunate enough that I’m able to afford an all-out Disney trip. So I’m trying to plan one that involves everything I want. I am going September 15 - September 23. It’s just myself, so I don’t have to worry about wrangling anyone else around.
I understand no one on here is a travel agent but most of y’all have Disney experience and I’m just hoping for a general “yea you’re planning too much.” Or a “no you should be fine”
I work as a chef and I’m really interested in some of the food so the ADRs I’m looking to make are:
- Storybook Dining at Artists Point
- Beaches and Cream
- ohanas (for dinner but I’m a big stitch fan, so I’m contemplating if I should book a breakfast as well)
- garden grill (it has come highly recommended to me but I’m not going to be heartbroken if I can’t fit it in)
- Boma’s
- sci-fi drive in theatre
- via Napoli (again recommended to me, I heard the pizza is 9/10)
- and I’m vaguely interested in space 220 but more the atmosphere than the food
I’d say Bomas, storybook dining, ohanas (dinner), and beaches and cream are the most important.
Then the enchanting extras I’m planning to book are:
- the Wild Africa Trek
- build a droid
- build a lightsaber
- behind the seeds (does this run year round? I’m having trouble finding info on it)
- contemplating a dessert fireworks party but not sold on it.
My planned Itinerary is as follows and I’m wondering if I’m spreading myself too thin:
SEPT 15 - I messed up and booked a really late flight, so this day is basically a wash because I don’t arrive until late. My plan is basically: check into hotel, figure out transportation for next day. Buy genie plus for next day.
SEPT 16 - get into magic kingdom as early as possible, but I had a long travel day the day before so I’m not going to push myself too much. It’s going to be an easy, chill magic kingdom day.
I was planning to leave a bit early in the day and have dinner at Ohana.
I was planning on buying genie plus so I could get a few of the rides I wanted out of the way before I got tired.
SEPT 17 - Sleep in. No particularly set schedule for the day (weather dependant) but I was thinking waterpark from 10-2 (ish). Back to hotel, change, late lunch/early dinner at Beaches and Cream. I looked and the ideal time slot id want to reserve is 3:30. But obviously this is all dependant on what ADRs are available when I book my trip.
Then I have tickets to Mickeys not so scary, I read you can get in around 4, so I was planning to enter right after Lunch/dinner so I can do anything I missed in MK the day before.
SEPT 18 - Early entry to animal kingdom (if I’m not too tired after MNSSHP). Start the morning some rides and do the Wild Africa Trek sometime in the afternoon. Hoping to be able to do mostly everything in animal kingdom in this one day even though Wild Africa Trek takes up 3 hours of my day.
Will likely buy genie plus on this day as well.
Since AK seems to close the earliest, I thought it’d be a good day to do Storybook Dining - hopefully getting the latest possible reservation.
SEPT 19 - Hollywood Studios Early entry if possible. Then I want to build a droid, build a lightsaber and have lunch at the sci-fi drive in. It feels like a lot to do in a day, but it seems most of those things only take about 30 minutes each on average?
I’m hoping to be able to get all the rides I want to done as well in this one day.
Dinner at Bomas (maybe) at the latest reservation time I can get.
SEPT 20- rest day. Sleep in, go to Disney Springs. I’m planning on buying tickets to Drawn to Life. I don’t have any dining plans, but I’m curious what I could find in Disney springs for ADR.
I might do Bomas on this day instead. My resort is in Animal kingdom lodge area anyways, so it’s not super out of the way? But I also am curious about potentially getting dinner in Disney springs, I haven’t looked into restaurants there at all yet.
SEPT 21 - Magic Kingdom again (subject to change if I feel like I didn’t get enough done in one of the other parks but did get enough done in MK). Originally I read that MK was a 2 day park and the others were 1 day parks. So I planned around that fact. No ADRs today, but I am planning to stay until park close to see the fireworks (maybe do the dessert party if it’s worth it?)
SEPT 22 - Epcot (was originally planning to switch the 21st and 22nd but there’s another Not so Scary on the 22nd and I didn’t want my last magic kingdom day to be cut short).
Behind the seeds tour in the morning. Lunch at garden grill. Dinner at space 220 lounge (maybe just apps, I really just like the atmosphere) and then maybe stop at Via Napoli for dinner as well. I don’t think I’d be able to make an ADR for via Napoli if I make one for space 220 dinner though. They’d be too close together in time?
Would I still be able to get everything done with all the dining I plan to do?
SEPT 23 - breakfast at ohanas - my flight doesn’t leave until late, so just hanging around Disney springs or resort hopping until I have to go to the airport.
Am I able to get everything done that I plan to? Would it beneficial to add an extra day? Or do I have to cut some things out?

2024.06.07 21:13 Routine_Box_4334 Sorting out Second Edition of Talisman.
I just received a used copy of Talisman 2nd Edition, which I just purchased from NobleGames. The entire game is in mint condition. Whoever owned it took great care of it. The problem that I am having is that there appears to be some kind of expansion pack added to the game. This became evident when I counted up the adventure cards and came up with 140 cards instead of 104. The rest of the cards seem accurate. There also appear to be well over forty, possibly sixty, character cards. I have a list of all of the cards from the base game, so I just have to make the time to sit down and sort them all out. Oddly enough, the game came without dice, but that is fine by me because I can buy dice from any Dollar Store or Walmart for cheap. The game comes with tons of these paper chits as counters; I can see why Games Workshop replaced them with plastic cones in every edition starting with 3rd.
The game board is also in perfect mint condition. It comes in four pieces that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. The thing that I am the most grateful for is the fact that all of the board's printed text is perfectly legible and easily scanable. Once I get the cards sorted out, I will make scans of the cards, board, and rules, so people can use it as a template for making homebrews and custom editions.
I do have a few complaints about the game. First, the cards are way too small. I am no spring chicken, and I can barely read the fine print on the cards. I would definitely recommend enlarging the cards by 25% before printing. Looking at the game's components makes it all too clear how cheap the game was to produce. If the game was released today, it would not sell. To be honest, no manufacturer would release such a product to the market today. However, 1983 was a different time period, and modern gaming was unexplored territory. Games Workshop made the right decision by replacing the character cards with minis and replacing the paper chits with plastic cone markers in the third edition. Fantasy Flight even replaced the cardboard toad tokens with toad minis in the fourth edition; I do not know why the fifth edition by Avalon Hill took a step backward by ditching the toad minis. I guess they were trying to cut costs by ditching two of the characters and the four toad minis.
The good news is that the 2nd edition rule book is also in mint condition and looks way better than the other online scans. The original rules make the game a lot harder in the beginning because there are no fate re-rolls. You get strength points for every seven enemy points that you turn in, but the same rule does not apply to craft. Ouch! This game is pure brutal, but it also makes the game all the more rewarding when you level up. Having played 4th edition, I know that the game changes after you pick up that fifth red strength token because monsters start going down a lot easier. Having a suit of armor helps a lot when you lose a battle.

2024.06.07 21:01 SweetlyCanada Water Lily Springs FFM
Hello, first time posting in this reddit (but I have been lurking for a few months now)!
Recently I bought the Water Lily Springs FFM, because I'm the kind of girl who likes fresh scents and the scent notes gave me those sort of vibes.
Well, it arrived yesterday and when my mom and I tried it, it did not smell like I expected. In fact, it smelt more like sunscreen. 💀 It didn't smell bad at first spritz, but the longer it lingered, the smell became unbearable. I even washed the spot off where I sprayed, and I still was able to smell it. It definitely did n*ot *smell fresh and clean like it said.
Which is weird because I at first thought "okay, well maybe that's just how it is supposed to smell", but I have seen someone from a few months ago say what it smelt like, and it was nothing compared to what I smelled. That's why I thought I would ask here if anyone else had this experience because I couldn't find anything that answered this question for me. Because either it's my nose, or maybe something like wrong perfume in the wrong bottle.
My mom likes it so I probably won't return it, but I'd hate to buy it again and have the same thing happen. 😭

2024.06.07 20:53 protoSEWan What is the best place to buy bridal fabrics?
| I am getting married next spring and I want to make my wedding dress. I am planning to make a satin dress with an organza overlay, similar to the idea of this one, but with a different bodice and sleeve shape for the overlay dress. I am not certain yet what shape I want for the satin dress underneath, but I think it want it to look similar to this one: v neck with straps, A-line skirt, fluid movements, drapey. I am looking for somewhere to buy good-quality satin and organza in white, bonus if the organza comes in extra wide for a train. I know it's going to take a lot of fabric to get the shape I want, so I would like to stay under $30 per yard on average. I have ordered some swatches from Mood, but would also like to explore some other options. As I have searched, I am having trouble determining if I am looking at a quality product, or a product that is marked up because of its association to the wedding industry. Do you have any recommendations for where to find good-quality white satin and/or organza? submitted by protoSEWan to sewing [link] [comments] |

2024.06.07 20:25 Clawsonflakes I finished Deadhouse Gates.
Follow-up to
this post.
When I joined this sub last spring after buying Gardens of the Moon, one of the first posts I saw had a title that was likely identical to this one. It took me all summer to get around to finishing the book, and it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I finally sat down to read DG. All I knew was that it was heavy, it was heartbreaking, and that I would be profoundly changed by the experience.
Because so much is said about the Chain of Dogs, we all know where this post will end up, I want to mention the other plot threads first. I loved Kalam in GotM, glad to see him back. I had no idea where his story would go, and even though I have more questions than answers, I am excited. Felisin's story is unbelievable - in my head, DG is split in two parts; Felisin's journey and the Chain of Dogs. I hope she finds peace. Mappo and Icarium make me tear up. And Fiddler is an unexpected standout; I almost feel like the story is, at its core, meant to be seen from his perspective. Epitome of a good fucking dude. There's more I'm not mentioning because I can't bring myself to focus on it, you all know why, but it was an incredible journey and even without
what's next, this would be my favorite book I've read this year.
The Chain of Dogs. Damn it.
You know, I didn't think they'd make it to Aren. I never really held hope for it. I recognized early that Coltaine and the 7th would almost certainly not make it, damned to their fate. And every roadblock, every crisis, every reversal led me to believe; if this is how it ends, they did more than anyone could've expected of them. An unbelievable effort. And when the 7th stayed behind so the refugees could escape, it felt like my fear had been realized; they
were damned to struggle and die so that Duiker and the others may live.
But to
make it to Aren. To die outside the city walls - while they did nothing. The worst case scenario wasn't that the 7th would be overrun and destroyed, the worst case was that
they would make it. And they would die knowing that they had been abandoned to the rebels. The refugees surviving, Duiker surviving, all a hollow victory - because of Mallick fucking Rel. So much, for so little. I don't think I have the words to describe it.
I've seen the comments saying we've walked the Chain of Dogs, and I would not rob anyone of that - it's a tradition around here. But instead, I keep thinking of another quote, before the 7th and the refugees reached the walls of Aren.
The Fist spoke. 'You have your answer, it seems.' 'We have it, Blackwing.' 'The Khundryl.' Surprised flitted on the warriors battered face. 'You honor us, but no. We strove to break the one named Korbolo Dom, but failed. The answer is not the Khundryl.' 'Then you do honour to Korbolo Dom?' The war chief spat at hat, growled his disbelief. 'Spirits below! You cannot be such a fool! The answer this day . . .' The war chief yanked free his tulwar from its leather sheath, revealing a blade snapped ten inches above the hilt. He raised it over his head and bellowed, 'The Wickans! The Wickans! The Wickans!'

2024.06.07 20:13 JackedBrew906 S&T Kar98 real wood / second gen worth it? Is it reliable?
Hey there currently in the market for my first spring loaded airsoft weapon and the reviews for the S&T kar98 from Taiwangun are good but according to complaints I’ve heard bbs fall out of gun when you point it down. Is there anything else I should be aware of or do you have to be a major gun nut to replace these items or anything? Looking to buy at a good price in exchange for good reliability. Also not sure if the magazine/ bbs falling out is a first gen issue and not a second gen issue for loading the gun. Just need something decent to take wasp nest hives out with but something fun too lol

2024.06.07 18:50 firebird8541154 I spent 6 months creating the best gravel/cycling focused Map to route you adventures on!
| https://preview.redd.it/rn1xz7d7j65d1.jpg?width=3605&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d07311d0c96c3a6413d0bb70d58c37e4366785b9 I am proud to announce that my and my two roommate's fun, totally free, cycling route creation site, https://sherpa-map.com, finally has its own map! This map ended up costing thousands of dollars to produce, many, many, months, redos, research, etc. to combine everything we could to try and provide all of the cyclist-specific information possible at a glance. This map incorporates road colors that identify road surface types using both OSM data and roads I have classified by pulling satellite imagery and using AI to determine unknown road surfaces en masse. (black = paved, gray = gravel, tan = unpaved, brown = dirt, pink = unknown) Additionally, this map uses data from Facebook's Machine Learning project Daylight: https://daylightmap.org/roads.html Which scans the planet for things that look like roads and adds them, you can't route on those yet, but you'll be able to see them on the map to help inform your journies. The core of the road styling is borrowed from Cyclosm https://github.com/cyclosm/cyclosm-cartocss-style/blob/mastedocs/DOCKER.md I've heavily modified it to include more squiggly fun roads when further zoomed out, adjusted road size, coloration, etc. I've kept a huge emphasis on showing anything and everything bike-related over practically anything else, scenic cycleways, mtb trails, bike trails, etc. Other than the road coloration differences for surface type, the full legend can be found here: https://www.cyclosm.org/legend.html I did render this map for the entire world, but, it's only really usable down to zoom level 16 (quite zoomed in!) United States Japan Philippines Taiwan Canada Australia Europe Alaska Hawaii Other zones are on their way. Additionally, this is technically two map layers! A road layer, and a hillshade layer, I developed the hillshade layer using the highest resolution Lidar and Satellite elevation data available, I want you to be able to pick out every hill on your route. I used QGIS, Gdall, and Mapnik to produce this, I also aggressively cache this in Cloudflare and on the browser, so the more you use it the faster it will be. This is version 1.0! I've already come up with many features and changes for future versions, I intend to make many, as we purchased a 64-thread 5Ghz threadripper, 128gigs of DDR5 ecc, and 48 TB of storage to generate this, so we're definitely not stopping here. Any thoughts and feedback are welcome, with the expertise I've gained creating this, I can essentially do whatever I want with future iterations, I'm not locked into any frameworks and systems like Mapbox/Vector tiles, etc. submitted by firebird8541154 to gravelcycling [link] [comments] |

2024.06.07 18:24 Kalide170 My outline of a Crow story, with an original Crow character I came up with.
| His name is Gordon Crowley, 21 years old, had a rough life in his younger years, his mom, Amelia Crowley, wasn't the best person ever... one would say, abusive even. His dad, Raymond, was the only figure in his life that seemed to want the best for him... he even sometimes takes him to the Hillmans' family residence just to get him away from his mother. He became good friends with Chandler and Kelsi, the Hillman family were pretty close with his dad, as well. But... during his 22nd birthday in October 19th, 2008, his mother wrongfully spent his birthday money. And they never knew what she exactly spent it on, Ray wasn't aware of this at first, but was rightfully upset with Mrs. Crowley, assuming she used it to buy more alcohol to poison herself more. He then took his visibly distraught son on a walk through the park, on the side of a lake to just talk with his son, wanting to make it up to him next year to try and cheer him up. Which worked actually. But... his smile would soon falter as tragedy begins to strike. Hooded figures attempt to take Raymond's son away, but his father manages to fight back, but not before one of the hooded figures does hold Gordon over the lake, with a gun to his abdomen that's aiming for where his spine is. Raymond rushes in to try and help his son but one of the hooded figures on the ground manages to stand back up and shoot Gordon's father in the heart from the back. This causes Gordon to scream out in distress, before the hooded figure holding him over the lake shoots him, paralyzing him from the waist down, sending him into the depths of the lake. And... he couldn't swim his way out, he was practically paralyzed and was going to drown. He tried to scream again... but he was underwater and bleeding out. They then dumped his dead father in the ocean, too... And this is where Gordon dies... And not long after, an investigation was launched by the Buena Vista Police Department, however, because of the lack of evidence by an emotional and widowed Mrs. Crowley... The case went cold. 2024.06.07 18:19 Dazzling-Ad2361 Tehachapi Pass
I’ve got some questions about Tehachapi Pass and it closing during winter season. How often does that actually happen and is it closed all day/night or do they typically get it open the same day? We are buying a house in Bear Valley Springs and my husband will be commuting for work - just worried he wouldn’t be able to make it back up to our house.

2024.06.07 18:10 Comfortable-Count-7 Stitch Golf Bag Review, the Good and Very Ugly
I’ve seen lots of questions about Stitch Golf Bags and other brands. Since I’ve had a Stitch bag for almost two years and they are local to my area (Holly Springs/Apex), I thought I would provide my review and honest experience (I have zero affiliation with the brand, as you’ll see through this review).
The Good: I received my Stitch Colorblock SL2 bag just under two years ago. The Navy and White pattern I received is beautiful, and I get compliments on it regularly. The fabric is high-quality; a regular wipe down with some warm water and a bit of fabric protector, and it looks the same now as when I first bought it. The magnetic ingot with my initials on it is a very nice touch too. I walk 18 holes on average 1-2 times a week (minus the winter) at a very tough walking course (9 miles, 20+ flights of stairs). At first, I was critical of the lack of space within this bag; however, after a while, I realized that being restricted to a water bottle, my rain cover, tees, balls, and ball marker made my bag lighter and the walk much easier (I just really had to debate whether I wanted to wear an extra layer or not because there’s no fitting it in the bag). The straps are comfortable, and I can clip my range finder and towel on. All in all, for those carrying, I highly recommend it... until the past few months.
The Bad: Over my almost two years with this bag, I’ve had zippers and feet from the stands fall off, but I’m somewhat handy and fixed these issues myself—no big deal to me. However, when I realized my grips were shredding a few months ago, causing me to replace them monthly, I took a look at the inside of the bag and found the full-length dividers were shredded with stitching everywhere. This caused clubs to go all over the place and rub on everything every time I pulled one out or put one in. This is where we get to a problem. This issue I cannot fix, but you’d think (or at least I did) a company called Stitch would stand behind their stitching on a $425 bag... You’d be wrong. I contacted Stitch and was delighted to get quick responses. Unfortunately, the response was that if the product is a day over one year from purchase, they will not offer any help. It doesn’t matter if this is a clear craftsmanship defect; they simply refuse to warranty a (very expensive to me) bag regardless of what happens. This hurt a little extra as this isn’t a big corporation but rather a local business from whom I’ve bought many shirts and golf towels in the past. Perhaps my expectations are skewed, and you are welcome to tell me that in the comments (again, I am just sharing my opinion).
Conclusion: Here is what I learned: Stitch makes a terrific-looking bag that is perfect for us traditional carrying/walking folks who enjoy a stylish bag. However, when you buy a bag from them, just know if anything goes wrong after a year, you are on your own. This review isn’t meant to bash or degrade a company but simply to give you my transparent experience and also ask a broader question: what happened to taking care of the customer?

2024.06.07 17:58 Bigdaddyspin Touring sea kayaks for Large Men?
Hi All,
So I've started to put aside money for a touring kayak. I figure it's going to to take a bit of time to save up for a kayak that will fit me. I'm trying to prepare myself for the cost of the kayak and where I can plan to go to demo the kayaks. I know I have to pay a premium, so if I prepare now, I feel I'll be able to avoid buyers remorse. Well, reduce it.
With that said, I am struggling to not be depressed about the lack of choices available to me. I'm 6'4" and between 290-300 pounds. I want to upgrade to a kayak that can handle all my beef plus gear. I would like a kayak that can handle both the ocean and big rivers (not white water above class 2--think Hudson river or Lower Delaware.)
I want to take some classes so I can kayak confidently in the ocean and in the big rivers. Unfortunately I've been told by a few places advertising classes they have a strict weight limit of 245 for their kayaks for insurance reasons etc. They'll gladly give me lessons if I have my own kayak, so basically it looks like I'm out of luck unless I can find something to fit. (or I just haven't found a place that caters to fat dudes)
From what I can tell, there are 2 touring sea kayaks I will fit in: the Eddyline Fathom, 18 feet and $3k+ or the NC 17 overnighter 17 feet $4.7k. (NC also has a NC 19 at $5k, but ouch! The price tag!)
Does anyone know if there are other kayaks brands out there that will fit someone my size?
The price tag hurts, but I'm looking at it as a "fat tax" and putting it out of mind.
I know I can probably find an Eddyline Sitka XL in the meantime, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get lessons in it. Does anyone know if I can learn all the relevant sea kayaking skills in a Sitka? I've seen a few in my area on the secondhand market, so I know I can get one in to at least start taking lessons--but I'd rather not buy something I can't learn how to roll in.
I've been working on losing weight, but it's slow going (I'm down from 340). I plan to (hopefully) be nearing the 280 mark by this time next year and I've decided that if I can hit 280 or lower, I'm going to reward myself with a touring kayak. My goal weight is 250. I have severe doubts I'll be able to lose weight beyond 250.
Also yeah, yeah, I hear you with "maybe pick something else". "Get a canoe", "Get an inflatable". No, I don't want to buy a canoe or an inflatable. I know canoes are better camping vehicles, I just don't like them. Kayaks make me feel different from canoes--and I only have so much room in the garage. (Still thinking about an inflatable canoe for camping trips with the fam, but solo... I want what I want, even if it is a unicorn.)

2024.06.07 17:57 dgkidd407 NEW MUSIC FRIDAY WEEK 6/7/24 PRESENTED BY REGGAE THEORY
2024.06.07 17:55 Reuslan What should my next pickup be?
| Not much of a collector. Just want to hear some recommendations. CDNIM - 3 - hate the smell, blind bought it and that was a big mistake. Only sprayed it around 5-6 times if anyone’s interested in buying it. BDC EDP - 9 - My favorite scent of all time. My first one I’ve ever bought and I’ve gone back to it 3-4 times since then. This current one I’m using is throwing me off a bit because I feel that it’s projection is weak even with 5-6 sprays, but I might just be noseblind. Chanel AHS - 8.5 - This one is great. Creamy vanilla and has better projection/longevity than my BDC EDP. Both are my favorite fragrances I’ve bought. Haramain Amber Oud Gold - 8 - Bought for like 12$ on a great deal. Pleasantly surprised with it. Smells great, longevity and projection is incredible for how cheap it is! Projects more than my chanel colognes. Slightly too feminine for me though, and my girlfriend hates when I wear it lol ADG EDT - 7 - Great scent, but the longevity is actually so poor. Lasts 2-3 hours max on me. I’m looking to get a scent profile similar to BDC EDP. Looking for it to last long and project well but not break the bank. Below I’ve listed some that have caught my eye, with Missoni Wave looking like my favorite. - Missoni Wave
- Versace Pour Homme
- Haramain Amber Oud Blue Edition
- JPG Le Beau Le Parfum
- Davidoff Cool Water
- Ocean Noir
Any suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance! *my ADG EDT looks like it went through war, but that’s what happens when you carry it around in your school bag pocket that holds pencils submitted by Reuslan to fragranceclones [link] [comments] |
