Bui-yah-kah store

Apple Store appeared before our eyes

This happened about 7 years ago in Houston. My wife and I were in our mid to late 20s. She wanted a new iPhone for her birthday so we went to the Memorial City Mall specifically to go to the Apple store. Parked and walked through the door we always entered the mall through (by the ice rink, if you're familiar with it). Walked the whole length of the mall looking for the Apple store and never saw it. When we get to the end, we look on a map and see that it's next door to a store called Bui Yah Kah which I had remembered passing earlier (I distinctly remember it because I was wondering to myself how to pronounce it. Still don't know how to.)
See we proceed to go back the way we came, stopping in front of the BYK store. Looked around, no Apple store! Thinking the store possibly moved and the map was outdated we keep walking towards where we entered. We ask a security guard if indeed the mall still had an Apple store, which she confirmed.
So once again, we look at a map. Sure enough, it shows that it's between BYK and some other store I can't remember. So we start walking that way and again stop in front of BYK.
I remember telling my wife "There's BYK. There's store x. The Apple store should be right here." (For clarity, we saw BYK and store x next door to each other. It's not like a 3rd store was where we expected to see the Apple store.)
We stood there for a few seconds, confused and honestly not sure what to do next.
I not sure how to describe this, but the store literally appeared right in front of us. So the store front is made entirely of glass, left to right and top to bottom. Hanging in the window as a display is a large iPhone or iPod (can't remember which). This thing is big, probably 3' tall. It's impossible not to recognize this as an Apple store between the large display and the fact that you can see the entire store from outside.
It was like I blinked my eyes and the store was there. If it wasn't for the windows, I could have reached out and touched the hanging iPhone display. That's how close we were, yet somehow had never saw the store? I'm speechless for a moment, then say "Baby, the store's right here!" and watch as confusion comes over her face. We were both speechless, but finally go inside.
If I had been alone, I'd rationalize it as not paying attention. But for 2 of us not to see it when we were standing right in front of it? Although I do sometimes wonder if people passing by went home to tell their family about 2 crazy people they say in the mall bitching about not finding the Apple store while standing literally 3 feet away.
