Hi! I am writing this as I am extremely confused and honestly I need someone that can relate and what you did, or someone that can give me advise etc… Basically I am (F27) years old and have been in this relationship (M26) for 2.5 years, I do feel I’m a good person, empathic, I think I’m quite fun, generous, friendly, sometimes too warm, honest, I have good hygiene and like to take care of myself, and I am very driven and focused on my career, studies, travelling, etc… but I am also extremely happy to hear about other people’s success and .., and I often don’t really speak about mine, I don’t get jealous, I know this is a bit impossible between women but I honestly don’t feel jealous, the only time I did is when I felt that my boyfriend’s female friend flirted (sexual joke) with my boyfriend, but the main issue was that she barely ever spoke to me therefore I was like ohh so you do speak and joke when you want to, I think it was more of bottled up pain of never being included in this group. I am a bit shy and quiet at first, a bit introverted I must say, but I do believe I am funny when you get to know me, I’m not perfect, I can be overly sensitive, sometimes I’m a bit moody, (this mostly depends on how my abusive mum is treating me at the time, currently saving to move out but thought I should include this here). I had some anger issues and childhood trauma therefore I have been prescribed fluoxetine (currently on 30) and it did calm me quite a lot.
So, my boyfriend introduced me to this big group, which are his male childhood friends from school, and some of their girlfriends. Mind you these are all English speaking and well, quite posh, which I didn’t mind and was excited to take the challenge and get to know different people. The first day I met them they were not bad, I did give a compliment to one of them and well, she kind of didn’t say than you, I don’t know it’s like she didn’t like it, I just said that ‘you look like you fit the role of a lawyer with your looks. And she ignored me basically. There was this other one which was extremely anxious around me, and I could sense she shakes when she speaks to me. And finally, the best for last, she was quite surprisingly warm in the beginning (the one who changed completely and cracked the sexual joke). There were other women (around 3/4, and they have been extremely nice with me from day 1 till today, and BTW all his male friends at least do accept me and welcomed me in the group, and I think they think I am the most fun since I am the only one that go techno parties with them.

So, my boyfriend told me before I first met them that they are a bit challenging, since they did had drama themselves previously. (2 of them at least) I was happy to take the challenge, and well I think I over did it, (but not sure if this was the problem) I gave lots of compliments, I engaged a lot on social media by liking photos and comments, I didn’t think it would come across as weird.? (my boyfriend thinks I was a people pleaser or something) well I tried to build connections. At first it was going ok, we went on a couple of double dates, and it was going ok, even though sometimes I could still feel that they don’t include me in conversations, and when my boyfriend speaks, full attention and body language looks more interested, but when I speak it’s a different story. I thought I was imagining but…
Years went by and things were getting worse, to be honest we did have some issues in our relationship, and we did open to one of these females’ boyfriend, and we thought maybe they thought we weren’t for each other? Also, I did leave the group chat once because we had a big fight and yes, I made a mistake by leaving, (taking fluoxetine not to act that impulsive). Also, my boyfriend and I thought that maybe I was a bit quiet at times in events? But I honestly felt like a burden, I was the only one starting conversations and trying to get their attention, and I was becoming frustrated event after the other. We had some nice 3 double dates with one female, and well I was happy getting to know them (wasn’t the most fun but I’d say if we gave it some more time we could have gotten more comfortable), and one fine day they just stopped, and in group events they were really weird to me, I obviously felt confused and like wtf happened now? And my boyfriend also had no idea. (my bf was opening to him about certain fights we were having, which I told him it’s a bad idea, but he still did, not sure if this was the issue). We also had an issue with the 2nd female when we were camping and one of these women decided to crack a stupid sexual joke which made the room extremely awkward, the only thing I did is stop eating and went inside the camp, hoping my boyfriend would come and speak to me but he didn’t so, in my opinion I had a good reason to be pissed because I have been telling my boyfriend that I am feeling left out and I had a build up of frustration, because he never really did anything about it, I kept trying and trying to get their validation but all for nothing. This joke wouldn’t have bothered me if this person was ok with me, but she barely exchanged a word with me the few hours we have been camping, it’s weird. The last and final female, this was the one who always felt anxious around me, we did have some nice conversations and she always asks my boyfriend about me when I’m not there, but when I’m there she barely looks at me? I do think she is genuine and kind, but I have no idea why yesterday she also didn’t look at me and they were gathered all 3 of them.

Anyway, this caused lots of trouble in out relationship, my boyfriend kept doubting me and saying that maybe they just don’t like you, or you make them feel anxious, or I’m not their type? Wtf? I mean ok could be and I honestly tried to change my style, I improved in my English and honestly tried so much I’m fed up.
Yesterday we had another event, I decided that this time I’m not going to go out of my way and make any extra effort, fluoxetine helped me in remaining calm, almost too calm. I was a bit quiet, sipping some wine and spoke to those who seemed interested to speak to me (17/20), and I promised myself that I won’t be too warm (it’s not a sudden change btw, I was already reducing engagement on social media and on the chats with them, since well it was one sided, and did distance myself quite a bit for some months). My boyfriend was extremely anxious, which I do understand to some extent, but he was annoying me so much by saying comments like, why are you still with sunglasses? (a few of them were with glasses), comments like don’t drink too much, or why are you quiet? I’m like is this person serious. I do get this is important to him because they are his childhood friends and I think he feels that if I don’t keep this forced relationship with these 3 women it will affect it somehow. Well, that is not fair in my opinion, because I have been hurting for 2 years now. Anyway, the night was awkward, I did try to go next to them and tried to exchange 2 words about their dog, but they gave me their back the entire time, they didn’t look at me, and I didn’t as well even though I still think I did some form of effort by sitting next to them, when they were leaving and saying their goodbyes, I simply didn’t speak, well why should I?

My boyfriend took this badly, he told me he felt like he was going to puke, and that I should have said at least bye. I’m like are you serious? I felt I was going to puke for 2 years whenever I was the only one that started conversations, and they all seemed so fake and forced. He was shocked when he saw how distant we all were, well yeah its clearer now because I put myself first this time, we had a huge fight and now he is sorry, but no idea on how to proceed with this. I do understand his side, but I have been in too much pain feeling rejected every time, I did want to stop going to these events, but he didn’t like it, hence I still went yesterday, and I do like most of them. My thoughts are that they are not interested in getting to know me, or maybe they don’t like me? Or I’m just not their type, my boyfriend told me to stop being so warm and that’s what I did, and still, I didn’t get it right. I am honestly tired of all this drama, and only want to relax after a week of work and school with genuine and friendly people. Any advise on how to tackle this please? I don’t want to end this relationship, but I feel something needs to change, in my opinion he should have rose this with his friends, but he wasn’t feeling comfortable and he didn’t listen to me, now I don’t even like them myself.
Side note: I also had some trouble with my friends, no idea what's happening lately, it feels like I'm cursed :( so I was out and I saw the same story of almost my entire group (known them for 4 years, travelled together etc...) and I was like why wasn't I invited? and I messaged one of my closest ones and she told me at my house, cause recently I just broke up, and I was shocked. Her reply was that she assumed I was busy and occupied since I'm in a relationship and that they will be the ones for her since they are single. I'm like what is this loads of bs? anyway just felt I needed to add that, I stood my ground for this time as I have forgiven them in the past for some things but I felt this was out of line, I am currently quiet and thinking about it, I don't understand why women are rejecting me, I do have one best friend (my cousin and we grew together) and we have a beautiful close relationship, other than that I thought I was doing ok with these but ... I guess I have no luck, or maybe I am doing something wrong?

I have just been accepted on to a masters apprenticeship in applied Data Analytics and I'm looking for some general advice.
Throughout my undergraduate degree I was never the strongest essay/report writer and I'm worried this may be a limitation for me moving forward especially as I haven't had to do them in a while. Along with this my working background hasn't neccesiated the need for strong technical skills so my coding ability is begginer to intermediate at best.
This course will likely change the trajectory of my career as it stands in a pretty large way and I have currently planned my weekly schedule to dedicate 15-20 hours solely on the course not including the mandated hours I have been allocated through my work place for lectures and meetings.
Before I start I wanted to ask if anyone has any recommendations for resources on essay/report writing and learning python in a structured way? As well as this if anyone has any advice in general about returning to Uni after a significant period out I would be extremely grateful.

I’m 23, currently studying medicine and working as a Registered Nurse. I also have a stable, healthy long term relationship. Now my partner and I both agree if we were to have children we would have them in our thirties due to the fact I would have finished medicine and established myself a career and achieved things I wanted to. However I will admit I’m not maternal, I do want to start my own family but I don’t think I’ll ever be a parent who thinks their children are the centre of their universe. For me a child is an extra person In my life not necessarily apart of who I am. I will love them and take care of them and want the best for them but in all honesty I also want to continue to stay in my career and live my life. I would want to go back to work as early as possible and feel ready and I wouldn’t even have a problem hiring a night nanny at newborn stages as needed if we were struggling with sleep and even needed a few days rest. My partner has also stated he is happy to be the SAHD. I’m not saying I wouldn’t want to spend quality time with them but I also wouldn’t want to spend every moment with them if that makes sense? My friend says I should never have kids because of this and that they should be the only thing I’m worried about so I’m just wondering if she is right.

So long story short, I started my career in a level 1 trauma center Operating Room residency in 2022. At first I really liked the position and thought that maybe i found “my dream job”, but as the months went on and I gained more independence and was more so alone with the surgeons, I came to hate the job given the poor behaviofoul mouths of the surgeons…. and I truly couldn’t take how belittling they could be.
Anyways fast forward to today. I ended up taking a job in a medspa and while I love it, I really feel like I lost my skill set which people have warned me would happen (no need to lecture me on this please lol).
The point of this post is to get advice on what I should do next. I would love to find a position in a hospital again if possible, but if I lost my skills would I not even be considered at this point? When I was in nursing school I absolutely loved labor and delivery, but I strayed away from it when looking for jobs because I was told I may be too sensitive to work with L&D nurses, is this true??? And would I have a shot working in this speciality? Also, L&D nurses vs Postpartum nurses give me the run down of what it is like in your positions and maybe which would be an easier transition?
Any guidance or positive reinforcement would be great!!!

Activities BOLD indicates NEW activity or hours added for 2024-2025 app 1) Awards: Departmental Honors in Neuroscience (selected by faculty), Global Health Competition (2nd Place), Pride Award (tiny scholarship from when I entered college), English Department essay finalist (didn’t end up winning so unsure if I should put this), Summa Cum Laude, Soup Kitchen Volunteer Award (unsure if I should put this in because I accepted it on behalf of my sorority where I was the Team Lead for volunteering here) - 2) Poster and Senior Thesis - Clinical Experience (980 hours) - 3) Children’s Hospital PCT (350 hours) - Paid - 4) MA at Family Medicine clinic (500 hours) - Paid —> 2000 hours anticipated - 5) Nursing Home (120 hours) - Volunteer - 6) Spanish Interpreter for student-run free clinic (30 hours) - Volunteer - This was an MME but I eventually stopped since the coordinator wanted to open up more opportunities for med students to volunteer instead. It may seem confusing as to why I stopped something that was an MME and was in my PS so maybe I should take it out but it’s also relevant to my future goals - 7) Children’s Hospital Volunteer (100 hours) - Volunteer - During COVID and after on the cardiac floor - Research (1670 hours) - across 3 labs and all I have to show for it is a poster and my thesis - Labs: - 8) Cardiac Research (bench - 120 hours) - 9) Neural effects of childhood trauma (clinical - 250 hours) - 10) Ophthalmology Research (bench - 500 hours 800 hours) - aiming for a couple of manuscripts in the fall - ran my own project - 11) Charity Fashion Show Director and Coordinator (200 hours) - listed as volunteering - 12) Soup Kitchen Volunteer and Team Lead (50 hours 20 hours) - 13) Dance Crew Leader and Showcase MC (450 hours 200 hours) - 14) Physician Shadowing (60 hours) - Cardiology, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology - I will be trying to set up shadowing with the clinic I am an MA at to hopefully add like another 15 hours (Family Medicine) - 15) Creative Writing (650 hours 300 hours) - Wrote a couple of novels - 16) Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience TA and Tutor - (165 hours)
Clearly I have 16 activities so I have to remove one of them or figure out how to recombine them haha. I also helped organize my school’s anti-war protest encampment but unsure if I should add that under advocacy because it's too politicized right now.

LORs (first three are strong, last three are probably closer to generic) - English Prof - LOR from PI - Neuroscience Prof - Neuroscience Prof (cool dude, but I don't think the rec is that special tbh) - Nurse Manager from PCT job - Physician from gap semester MA job
What I think my weaknesses were: Anxiety. I really think my pitfall was extreme anxiety at the time of the interview. I have a stutter that is handled well in everyday situations but when it came to the interview with my career on the line everything went to shit. I forgot my speech techniques, which made me more flustered as I literally could not speak fluently. I’m currently on Propranolol haha and it’s been so helpful to mitigate my anxiety-related stutter in these type of situations. Possibly another weakness of mine were my secondaries. They were rushed since I did not pre-write and I would admit that the IIs came from the schools where my secondaries were stronger. They weren’t necessarily bad but I struggled with certain prompts like adversity and diversity. Lastly, I had some really good LORs for sure while others were still positive but generic.
Likely upcoming weakness: - Volunteering and Shadowing. I didn’t do much volunteering or shadowing in the last year other than the soup kitchen in my fall semester. I couldn’t continue that into the following semester since I no longer was part of the sorority technically since I graduated and the soup kitchen only takes organization volunteers. I also didn’t shadow. This is on me though because I was honestly getting burnt out and delusional and wanted to spend time on hobbies and fun activities (like dance crew and creative writing).

• Gap year activity: Yeah I've gotten really burnt out and delusional so I didn't plan out my gap year well. My current PI is helping me find a CRC position with her colleagues on the West Coast because I want to move to California lol.
