 | IntroRuneScape was for me the catalyst to get into medieval weapons. After my return, I want to share my knowledge to the larger RuneScape community. So I've started this melee weapons review serie. One central question: how functional are RuneScape weapons? How would they perform if you made a replica, with real-life materials?Weapon ReviewIs there a more iconic RuneScape group of warriors than the Barrows brothers? I think not. Guthan's is mostly known for being a highly sustainable set. Sadly, the name "warspear" doesn't historically exist. It's just called spear.Right of the bat, let's start with the blade. Talking of bats, doesn't it look a lot like the Batman logo? In terms of design, it isn't bad. It's actually pretty good. The blade isn't oversized - looking at you, Dharok! - and has some interesting features. The spear blade has a nice pointed tip, so it is supposed to be used as a thrusting weapon, like the game categorised it. But, the curved edge does allow it to be used for cutting as well. Well, it could partially, as there is a rather obstructive spike that doesn't allow for any cuts to really cut through. Very annoying! But anyway, the curvature doesn't hinder the tip at all, as it is still straight from the perspective of the shaft. Compare that to the retro look, where the point is off-centre and you'll need to correct your thrust to compensate. Yes, the new version is better than the old one! Finally, the concave part of the blade is interesting. I don't think it is sufficient curved to really hook effectively with it, but even not, it only means it doesn't have a direct functionality. The spike in the middle is actually well-placed to be used for penetrative purposes, if it was longer. There are two small upward facing wings at the base of the spear head. I don't think they are really functional, as they aren't wider than the base, so even if you overpenetrate, they won't actually pretend from penetrating further. The shaft suffers from the same problem as the Zamorakian spear: it isn't smooth with all these obstructive rings, so you can't play with the reach of your spear. It's also still a fairly short spear, so it's also double handicapped that way. Jagex really likes to have these weird spear butts with multiple spikes that serve no function. May I also point out our character is wielding the spear wrong? The left hand touches the base of the spear head, pretty much nullifying any reach advantage it has. In a proper guard stance, you maximise your reach by holding as far back as possible, keeping your enemies at bay. VerdictThis is a solid 7/10 for me. The layout of its pages with tons of ads is atrocious. It always autoplays ad videos, which can easily crash your browsers on PC or mobile. Many communities have decided to migrate to other wiki website (e.g. wiki.gg) or have already completed their migration, such as Fallout, Runescape, Minecraft, Satisfactory... etc. Fandom's ads layout is highly stroke-inducing The Fandom wiki for Limbus Company has been prominent for a while, so it would probably be difficult to establish a competitor wiki. But the content of Limbus Company is still growing in a healthy and promising pace, so maybe migration is not entirely impossible. Is there any existing alternative wiki for Limbus Company right now? Or, is anyone currently working on an alternative wiki, such as Miraheze or MediaWiki? I'm more than happy to contribute to expanding any alternative wiki, as this may increase the possibility (even just a tiny little bit) of moving away from Fandom. I'm sure many people here are eager to help as well. Also, I'm curious about what you guys/gals thought regarding Fandom in general. Personally I truly dislike Fandom. It's such a pain when I have to keep it open during a mirror dungeon session. But maybe it's not that bad from others' perspective? how does ANYBODY play this on any type of phone thats not $500+ gaming dedicated phone?? I remember playing this on my PoS phone when it released, and it barely ran, but it was playable and bearable. Now I have a phone 20x better than that phone on release, and IT DOESNT EVEN WORK. Launch the game, takes 20 minutes to load, only thing running on the phone whatsoever. Game plays at what makes a slideshow presentation framerate seem fast. Tried to do a raid. Game froze 10 seconds into the countdown timer. reloaded the game, raid was finished, i won? Tried to start the encounter, game not only crashes again, but bricks my ENTIRE phone. Frozen screen, can't go to home screen, nothing is responding, won't power off. Literally had to look up how to force reset my phone so I could restart it. 20 more minutes later and the raids gone and my pass is gone. Great game. 0/10 had better experience playing runescape at 3fps at the local library in 2005.

Deep inside everyone knows the sad state of RuneScape and those who used to play it in the glorious days know how legendary and fun it was. But then the fire nation attacked (AKA intense monetization). The game is in a dying state where it temporarily gets somewhat a life during certain events. People taking long breaks from RS is like part of the RS community culture now.
However I think one of the biggest reasons is how divided the player population base is. First you have OSRS and RS3 which are dividing the player population, then it gets even more divided in RS3 between P2P worlds and F2P worlds. The result of that has an isolation effect to RS as whole. And so you are now left with a game that feels more like an apocalyptic theme where finding players is like finding survivors. So I do think they really have shot themselves in the foot by trying to have 3 Different categories of RS (OSRS, RS3 P2P & RS3 F2p) and they probably were better off just having one focused path for RS.
This brings to my solution.. Make RS fully free to play. Its about time. Make money from proper microtransactions and even expansions like some mmos out there.
Anyway, this probably won't happen but this is my 2 cent. Peace 😎

2024.05.18 05:54 LracOmega UIM bank use for coins suggestion
Now this might be a controversial suggestion but I think changing banks for UIM's to allow the use of deposit and withdrawal of coins would just be a nice QoL. I believe when runescape was released banks were only used for coins so I feel it makes sense.
I also don't think it's that game breaking but happy to be challenged. Since UIM's have access to so many coffers already additionally you can use GE offers for bonds and abort them so you can withdraw from any bank anyway I feel like this would just be a nice QoL.

2024.05.17 18:42 Tizaki Suggestion: Now that the multi-ore mechanic is in the game thanks to Mining Gloves, add it naturally and additively to certain ores/mines around the world map to liven the areas up again.
Currently, there is no reason to mine at those far away mines we see during quests or while mining stars.
They look great, but why would you leave the Mining guild when it offers an invisible bonus, a bank, easy proximity to every ore you could want, and passive unidentified mineral drops?
Additive guaranteed ore.
Imagine there were special bonuses added to various mines around the world map, where the effect normally seen only from the Mining Gloves was an inherent and natural part of the ores in that mine?
For example, the new Mining Gloves offer a guaranteed +3 gold ore (4 total) for any ore you mine... but what if SOME mines out there added an extra +1 or even +2 gold? Meaning, without the gloves, you'd get extra ore. With them, you'd get even more.
Some ores and some mines out there would definitely benefit from this. Especially if they're farther from a bank; they'd need some sort of benefit to make them competitive with what's in the Mining Guild.
Just an idea. The specific mines, ores, and amounts would be up for debate, but the logic itself would be very welcome.

I decided to try RuneScape a week-ish ago because none of the MMOs I tried were hitting. I decided I’d try to play with as little wiki use as possible — I might eventually look up how to make a crossbow if I can’t figure it out (and I did spend half an hour clicking random crafting items), but I’m stumbling into quests, regions, items, etc. alone.
This game is so fun. The quests are so funny and varied, and the player character is legit hilarious during NPC interactions. I like talking to different NPCs even when I can’t find any quests. I like the little detours of crafting where it turns out there’s 20 steps and I need to journey half way across the country to make a sandwich (I thought the cooked rabbit and bread would be enough to make a rabbit sandwich, but in retrospect it would be a dry sandwich. I have no idea where to find tomatoes or get seeds so I have like 20 dry sandwiches in my box now lol).
My experience likely differs immensely from most people on this sub because my skills are around ~20 now and I still have no idea where I am or what I’m doing. I’m pretty sure my gear is crap even at such a low level. It takes literally forever for me to find quests to do, but finding them is half the adventure.

Help me choose which one to play. I made a poll on both reddit for both versions of the game but the bias is so heavy it is hard to decide.
I've played Runescape on and off since 2004 but never played IM. It's a different beast and not sure which version of the game to invest my time into. From what I know first hand and what others have discussed that PvM content is generally more varied in RS3 and the progression is faster and you get into bossing content faster. I've heard people mention that OSRS has a lot of "useless skills" from some other posts particularly fletching, smithing, etc. where outside of quest requirements it's better to just go kill bosses for gear instead of spending all of that time making gear from those skills for instance.
I've heard people mention that have played both versions of the game in ironman say that OSRS endgame is less varied, has less skills and overall content and that RS3 is probably going to be a more fufulling ironman experience. Then there's the flip side of that on people saying they hate the daily, weekly and monthly stuff tasks they have to keep track of and it feels like a chore to do.
Help me decide. I sure as hell can't. I play Runescape 3 on and off had maxed and billions of xp on my main account before necro came out and still play every now and then. I've also played osrs as well and the games main appeal for me would be runelite and all of the plugins and the mobile app is probably way better than RS3.
What do you think I should go for?
