2024.05.17 11:47 kerkerby What are the key configuration for Hyper-V client connection?

If the client and the Hyper-V 2019 server are connected to the same network and can communicate with each other, the client can access the Hyper-V server using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). To establish a connection through the Hyper-V Manager on the client terminal, what are the necessary configurations that need to be set up?
I have two terminals, one still can't connect but the other one has been successful with connecting to the server through:
1. Configure WinRM on Client
winrm quickconfig
winrm set winrm/config/client '@{TrustedHosts="192.168.2.242"}'
2. Enable Credential Delegation through Group Policy
While both terminal clients have been set up and have been configured in the same manner, why is the other terminal not able to connect, with the error "The computer "192.168.2.242" cannot be resolved..."?
What are the crucial configurations for Hyper-V client connections that are missing that is missing and could be causing this behavior?

If I can't have my Polaris, neither should UEEN. I'm ready to blow up the fly-by Polaris once it's launched
Plan A: Suicide Boat with 20 S10 nukes, detonated by Nox guns shooting at distance
Once the UEEN Polaris stopped moving at a station, I will park the A2 right next to it, open the door and hop onto my Nox, and shoot to detonate the nukes.
I tried to load more nukes but it seemed to despawn them once I reached 20 off-rack bombs.

Plan B: A Kamikaze Cluster Strike against the Polaris 696 SCU of literal waste in my C2, I will collide into the Polaris at max speed and let the physics engine do its job. I had to purchase each of these waste crates separately so they came in 1 scu boxes, so I spent an hr at station kiosk clicking the buy buttons and manually enter 1 scu 696 times.

100 of these 696 boxes are off-cargo grid, since the server will despawn any off-grid scu boxes in excess of 100 boxes.

Even with 100M hp I don't think it will stop me from blowing the Polaris up. Last time I was released from Klescher I told them I was a changed man, I never said I changed for the better.

2024.05.17 08:29 Rosetown Mini Split average lifespan

I manage several commercial buildings, and it’s common to have a mini split installed in the “server room.” I put server in quotes because these aren’t serious server rooms, just a single rack with their network equipment.
I’ve found that these mini splits die within 2-5 years, always.
My building are in different towns so I usually use a different company, so it’s not isolated to one bad installer, and are from a variety of brands.
Is this common?

2024.05.17 06:37 Teh_Ocean My shitty solution to the “dating crisis” or whatever we’re calling it

Tl;dr at the bottom
Sup y’all. I can feel that this is gonna be another unwanted bout of insomnia so I just wanted to see if this idea I had has any merit. Basically, we all know that there’s an issue in dating. All the guys seem to be terrified of approaching gals and the gals seem to only find dirt bags. This issue is akin to something known as adverse selection in lending.
When lending money, you’re gonna want to choose someone you’re pretty sure will pay you back, right? How do you stop bad loans? One way is to charge interest. For one, the higher cost will hopefully attract those who can afford it. Two, it means that a riskier investment (a loan where I can’t check trustworthiness) will at least give me a higher return for taking that risk. What’s the issue? People who weren’t gonna pay off the loan anyway aren’t gonna care about interest, but good candidates will. This is adverse selection: where you keep out quality candidates when you were trying to catch bad ones.
How can you prevent this? Well the goal is lower risk, so collateral is one way. It lowers risk because if the loan defaults then you still have it, and untrustworthy candidates still have to put it up. It also requires some demonstration of the ability to make and hold money.
Now to relate this to dating: from what I’ve been able to glean from social media and other anecdotes is that adverse selection appears to be playing out both irl and on dating apps. For irl, “good” guys are worried about approaching gals because they’re worried about the potential fallout: rejection, humiliation, “catching a case”. This is the “interest rate” for the loan. (Note that this is perceived cost. I don’t think there are any girls out there writing up contracts that detail exactly how they’ll reject you). So less “good” guys proportionally. In response to bad experience (loan defaults) many gals will act hostile to men (raise the interest rate). For dating apps, similar idea but replace asking out with like dick pics.
So my solution? Looking towards loans, specifically home loans because that is what the class I was taking was discussing, collateral could provide a template. Essentially, you want to give a requirement as a woman that won’t scare away too many “good” guys and will disincentivize “bad” ones. Has to be something the guy is willing to give up and can cause him harm if he loses it, and the harm can be social, financial, professional. Probably not physical but if he’s okay then I guess? Also, relationships and loans are obviously different in very key ways, this is just a framework.
My idea? If you’re interested in a hookup, demand something physical as collateral. Idk maybe record a video explaining the context, email it to the guy, then lock his phone in a safe. If he’s successfully not a piece of shit then he can get it back. And if she refuses then he has proof. If the goal is seeking a long-term relationship, it’s a bit harder because what can you hold for that long that he values but doesn’t use? I think information might be good. So maybe the girl demands to see the third-most embarrassing discord server. Bad enough that you keep it to yourself but not so bad that it’s life ruining to reveal. Plus if it’s something you care enough about, you’d maybe share with an S/O eventually. Now this is not as clean because what if the couple breaks up and now the girl has the info? Yeah not sure how to resolve that, so if anyone has ideas please share.
I know this is dumb, but my brain maid the connection after cramming for my exam and I wanted to share with someone.
Tl:dr there are some parallels between loan providers and girls in how they try to evaluate applications. Collateral reduces friction with loans, so maybe it could lower friction in dating.

2024.05.17 06:11 recycl_ebin Why haul with anything else in highsec other than the Avalanche?

Currently as it sits, the Avalanche cheaply fit with cargo expanders and cheap mids has roughly the same amount of cargo as an untanked freighter (550,000 m3), and has more tank than the tankiest, max tank Freighter. (627k EHP on a syndicate bulked obelisk vs 702k on the cheaply fit, unimplanted Avalanche)
But the real issue comes with a little bit of bling. With A-types, and an X-type Thermal hardener, with Nirvanas, the Avalanche achieves over 1.6 million EHP to Void. This is nearly triple the EHP of the tankiest freighter that exists, with nearly double it's cargo capacity.
You can also carry 3 million M3 of planetary goods.
Oh, and you can fit a rack of RHMLs that can instantly volley catalysts, or talos or other ganking support ships (Or neutts, or NOSSES to counter any attempt at neuting you out to stop your hardeners.)
Aaaand if you wanted to ONLY have 260,000 M3 of goods, you could settle at almost 2.2M EHP to void. A grand total of 8.5 billion for something that will probably never get ganked in highsec.
The way I see it is that if this ship makes it to the live servers in this state, you will see every single freighter pilot and freighting entity transition into this ship as fast as they can, as nearly tripling your EHP and nearly doubling your cargo capacity is huge. Honestly, there aren't any ganking groups with the capacity to gank these, it'd take waiting for them to enter a PRE-PULLED 0.5, and hitting them with 255+ catalysts, or 50+ talos, so as long as you're carrying under 15 billion, I'd say your chance of getting ganked goes from approaching zero, to zero.
Does CCP want freighter ganking to stop? Do you want freighter ganking to stop? Does CCP intend for nearly every freighter pilot to transition into this new ship? Was this ship intended to be a replacement for 99% of the duties of freighters? I genuinely don't know if this is an oversight or if this is CCP's way of removing freighter ganking from the game, because over the next 12 months as Avalanches saturate the market I 100% guarantee that freighter ganking will fall by 90%, and continue to fall as everyone uses the new triple-ehp-freighter.
Here is my suggestion
Set the Avalanche's base stats in line with the bowhead. Give it a base shield EHP equal to a T2 extender rigged Bowhead. On top of this, reduce it's cargo capacity to 50,000.
This would give much more tank than a regular freighter when blinged out, set it in it's unique role of transporting PI, but still give it some cargo capacity for other items, but not completely replace every single other freighter (and honestly, all haulers) out there.
Thanks for reading if you did, and I hope we can remain civil and productive in the comments.

2024.05.17 04:49 gernrale_mat81 Stage wiring diagram software.

Hi there,
So I'm graduating from my high school soon and I want to make a wiring diagram of the entire stage. This would include the server rack with a stagebox, 3 amps, network switch, patch panels and wireless mic systems. I also want to add our whole coms system and multiple access panels around the stage and in the stage.
I have attempted to use multiple different different websites for this, but none of them seams to be the right thing to use. Currently I am using draw.io but I would really want something better. I would prefer a free software but if there is some great paid options, i'd like to hear about it.

2024.05.17 03:44 Xero_94 Help with Active Directory improvement

Hi Guys,
I am trying to improve an on prem AD with a more proper role based segregation. At the moment all admins have access to a uniform set of resources across the business. The requirement is to create them to groups so later on we can run a Tacacs+ server and authorise the devices for those groups.
An example would be only the network admins should have admin access to networking devices and not any of the sys admins.
I am trying to find a template or a structure that would be a good starting point to start grouping the existing users or something that could help me implement this.
As for Azure, we only have the free license and do sync with it.
I am a bit of beginer and if anyone would have any ideas or examples, it would be a great help! Thank you in advance!

Decommissioning and selling one of my CPU render servers.
This thing can easily run high memory applications while acting as a multi-stream plex server in the background. Perfect for simulations, hundreds of VM's, running a huge ZFS array, or almost anything you can dream up to do. The 3TB of quad channel HPE Smart memory lets you create a RAM mirror for ultimate data integrity and still have 1.5TB.
Thanks to it's 4 CPU's and 3TB Ram you can even run Windows 10/11 Pro workstation if you want windows but don't want to license server edition. And it will really fly with any distro of Linux.
Stock ILO is on the server but tere is a 120GB SSD in the drive bay with ISO of the ILO mod if you want to lower fan speed (at 70% speed they can run full cooling at 100% load and still be quiet from the next room). The SSD also had the latest HPE Proliant Service Pack downloaded.

2024.05.17 03:21 No-Budget-4680 F5 response and request decoder

Hi there,
First decoder I am dabbling with. I understand that Wazuh has f5-bigip decoders although these are for system messages.
We utilize a response and request syslog template which is being ingested into the archives indicie.
The request log uses a static string "request", response uses "response".
This made me think to create a pre match that follows the beginning of the message with these above strings to prevent other syslog messages from being caught.
I tried creating an or string (requestresponse) although that was showing parsing issues so in my test I am initially just using reponse.
 syslog ^(\w{3} \d{1,2} \d{2}:\d{2}:\d{2}) (\S+)(response)
This prematch works fine. It identifies the raw syslog message correctly and under discover the decoder.name is correctly using "f5-bigip-response-custom".
 f5-bigip-response-custom response.*200 OK (\d+) processing_time_http
In the child decoder I am just worried about pulling the response_msecs which is after the "OK" string. (HTTP_STATUS)
If I copy the raw message into regex 101 it detects the capture group correctly (after "OK") although when testing the decoder in Wazuh this digit is not being associated with field "processing_time_http".
Response raw message that I have obfuscated. Any ideas?
May 17 12:53:15 hostname response virtualpoolname client_ip:port http_method http_request server_ip:port http_status response_msecs x-forwarded-for

As a follow-up to my recent post about BYU admissions I've put together a comparison of the admissions statistics for the 4 major universities in Utah that have a limited admissions policy:
Once again, the data comes from the U.S. Department of Education's IPEDS website [source].
First let's look at the following:
Admissions statistics by school — 2002–2022
Three things stand out to me:
  1. The state schools have very similar-shaped plots
  2. Admissions tracks with applications for the state schools
  3. Enrollment tracks with admissions for BYU
The next chart compares the rate of acceptance and enrollment (often called yield).
Acceptance and enrollment rate — 2002–2022
This further highlights the similarities between admissions trends for the three state schools and the difference between them and BYU.

2024.05.17 00:41 fayyaazahmed Newb question: what are the rules regarding what you should and shouldn’t wire into a patch panel

I’ve tried to Google this but haven’t found anything.
Should I be wiring my incoming internet connection into the patch panel?
Current setup (no server cabinet) Wall Jack -> Mikrotik ONT -> RouteWifi
New setup (new server rack) Wall Jack -> Patch Panel (Port 24) -> Mikrotik ONT -> Router -> Managed switch -> Access Points
Am I overthinking this?
Are there any hard and fast rules I should know about?

2024.05.17 00:29 Secret_Thing7482 Power draw on pdu. How many servers can I put on a circuit

Hi
I was once told that power supplies draw max power for a very short period of time upon start up.
Looking at a dell r650 which the tech spec says draws max 12amp. If my rack has a 30 amp circuit and a 16amp pdu
If I place 3 of those servers on that pdu and turn them on at the same time I'm told that each server will draw approx 12amp so 36amps which will trip the pdu and could also trip the circuit if the pdu had a higher breaker.
I could stager start the servers as they have min load and draw 1-2 amp after startup.
Is this correct , I have seen racks of servers when powered up trip breakers because of this we used to stager start racks. But I can't find any doco on this

2024.05.17 00:12 Tester_8926 HR org chart for ~2,000 employees with daily refresh and level hide/expand?

Hi All,
I'm trying to create an org chart for my company with ~2,000 employees. So far tested some power bi custom visuals but it becomes either super long or the names start overlapping due to size. I also downloaded and tried Visio automatic org chart generation but the layouts are still pretty unwieldy and I need to refresh the chart daily (data currently from SQL server). Due to the number of employees, it would be good if users can hide/expand the hierarchies of interest in addition to the entire expanded layout/view by levels.
Any recommendations?
I read posts before that say great things about Visio so maybe I'm missing something.

2024.05.17 00:01 Igotthejoyjoyjoyjoy SQL errors when using outputs.sql

Hey all, I'm just getting started with grafana/telegraf and I'm most familiar with mysql as a db so I decided to use that. I've had mostly success getting telegraf setup on multiple PCs in my home and writing to a sql db. But I see occasionally on different PCs the data stops flowing in and when I view the telegraf.log I see errors such as:
2024-05-16T21:05:19Z E! [agent] Error writing to outputs.sql: execution failed: Error 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"cpu"("timestamp","cpu","host","usage_guest","usage_system","usage_iowait","usag' at line 1 2024-05-16T21:05:20Z D! The other ## option is "literal", which will use the actual value the user provides to ## the unsigned option. This is useful for a database like ClickHouse where ## the unsigned value should use a value like "uint64". # conversion_style = "unsigned_suffix"
its isn't always the cpuinput either, sometimes mem as well. It seems like the sql is being eaten up and the statements are only partial? Any idea what might be causing this or what I can do further to debug it? TIA
