Now they’re no longer hiring for subs and I’m wondering if that might be because it’s the end of the school year? Will they open up positions again when school starts in Fall?

Until I started subtitling the audiobook, I never considered reading the English version of LOTM. To my surprise, the quality of the English translation seems somewhat 'disrespectful' to the original book. With the money Qidian made from it, they should have hired at least one English literature graduate, if not three English literature professors, to proofread it.
Even though I'm not a native English speaker, I couldn't resist the urge to translate some parts in my own way. One thing led to another, and now I have a brand new translation of Chapter One.
Now, I have a question for my fellow fans of LTOM:

Especially one which hurts so badly!

Diagonally beneath the unlit lamp, was a black ink bottle shrouded in a pale red glow.
On its embossed surface was a blurry angel figure.
In front of the ink bottle and to the right of the notebook, lay a dark-colored pen with a fully circular body. Its tip shimmered with a faint glint while its cap rested right beside a brass revolver.

Zhou Mingrui was completely taken aback. Everything in front of him felt absolutely alien, nothing looked like his own room.
Shocked and confused, he came to the realization that the desk, the notebook, the ink bottle, and the revolve were all coated with a layer of crimson “veil” from the light shining through the window.
Without realizing what he was doing, he raised his head, looking up bit by bit.
In the midair, beyond the heavy smooth darkness, hung a crimson full moon, glowing silently.

Next to the cabinet was a pipe of the same grayish-white, inset into the wall at the height of a person. What distinct it is that it connected to a strange looking mechanical device, which had a few of gears and bearings exposed here and there.
Items resembling coal stoves, sat in the right corner of the room near the desk, along with some kitchenware such as soup pots and iron pans.
Through the right door, was a dressing mirror with a couple of cracks, standing on a wooden base emboss with simple plain patterns.
While looking around, Zhou Mingrui noticed himself in the mirror, the present him.
Dark hair, brown eyes, wearing a linen shirt, slim, average-looking features and a rather deep outline…
Hiss… Zhou Mingrui grasped the situation immediately as many helpless and confused thoughts surfaced in his mind.

This time, his sight landed on the shimmering brass revolver, immediately realizing something unexplainable.

I live in the Bay Area and applied for a Spanish teaching position in a predominantly white, upper middle class school and neighborhood. There’s not much diversity to say the least, but they offer a higher wage. Anyway, I went into the interview, and all the Spanish teachers were white, except for me. As a native Spanish speaker I thought I’d be an asset. Turns out, I was wrong. Mind you, I have a MA in teaching, licensed, etc. I left the interview feeling uncomfortable like I didn’t belong, which triggered me. It’s hard to explain, but the teachers interviewing me were cold, standoffish, and wouldn’t even look me in the eye. Anyway, I got job at another district, but it pays less. I’m just venting and seeing if other people have had similar experiences.

I'm seeking an investment into a revolutionary new Go-Kart that's going to crush it's competition on the track! It's an F1 car for kids!!! It will have massive tires, insane downforce, and again... it's an F1 car with a center of gravity below the axle. It's future big brothers will break world records by driving upside down, first most likely, by myself and 3 sons in the teaser. They will handle like RC cars, with better aerodynamic values than Formula 1, and will outpace a Formula 1 car in every turn at the sake of substantially lower top speed.
The future of youth motorsport is going to VERY quickly take a massive shift into the proprietary with a larger fan base than any single motorsport. As an example, in the Kickstarter campaign, I'll be offering a "District Package," which will exist as long as the company does provide 3 cars each, plus of ton of tires to 5 competing schools. Three cars so they have 2 to race, and one for R&D, because as a former instructor for U.S. and allied militaries, I want I so badly to design courses and programs that get kids excited about futures in STEM.
I don't want to get too deep into the details regarding this project, but I had an awesome idea today I was pleased enough with myself to tell my buddy, and will paste in in here as a sneak peak into the project.
"When you engineer a product specifically for the commercial....
Problem: 1. People are going to complain that my "F1 car" is too quite. 2. Increased noise generally equals decreased efficiency.
Solution: I'm going to build a ported duct from fiberglass (wrapped in CF of course), throw an RC airplane motor and propeller in there that pulls air from under the chassis and pushes it rearward and upward, looking and painted much like thick exhaust pipes.
Product: [edited] Reduction of drag System(BRS). Much like DRS in F1, the BRS increases top speed via the manipulation of air flow on appropriate straights deployable at late corner exit.
The Science: With appropriately placed intake and exit ports, BRS will increase downforce on both ends, clean up a portion of the aerodynamically "dirty" air, and substantially lengthen the area of drag behind the car, supercharging it's theoretically world-record breaking aerodynamic profile.
Increased Capability: BRS, when deployed by depressing the BRS button while at full throttle and above 20MPH, will activate the blower at full power until either the throttle or button are released making for loud huge smiles, and loud straightaways! Additionally, on the Jr. Pro Series, the rear spoiler will open in conjunction with the blower and upon BRS deactivation, the front and rear air brakes will engage unless the front suspension is fully decompressed, in which case only the front brake will activate preventing upward nose rotation while driving the vehicle back to the ground.
Added realism: Though BRS decreases drag and improves top speed, it will come at the cost of substancial energy consumption, forcing these young athletes drivers to find a happy medium between scorching laps and time in the pits.
Added bragging rights: [edit, I'm not actually going to look this stuff up for validation, it's just based on my current market knowledge.] The BRS will use wind power to increase thrust, increasing top speed beyond it's mechanical(geared 37.4mph) capabilities, which I believe is a world first. World's first mass-produced hybrid kart, first wind-hybrid vehicle, first mass produced vehicle with active aero braking, first vehicle sold with frontal aero braking, first vehicle designed to detect being airborne, and activate mitigation measures.... blah, blah blah, we'll add them to the list and hire someone to look for, and keep track of these things lol. Take it easy bro."
Path forward: 1. Develop two full karts with fairing sets for three. One F1 style race car, and one GT3 style police car. 2 Launch a brief sneak peak on social media, requesting donations for patent attorneys so we feel comfortable launching on kickstarter. We'll use the time and the donations on marketing, with the only means of contact, being a cashapp donation in excess of $5k to pull in curious pro drivers, and top influencers alike. 3. once the patents I care about have been submitted, we'll launch what I hope will be the most Kickstarter Campaign in history, selling the R&D cars for way too much to people that don't want to wait, which is when your money will return to you.
The ask: I'm seeking $25k to ensure this takes off as it should. The karts should take slightly under $5k each and the remaining funds will be kept, by you in reserve while I use as little as possible. Upon the completion of a successful Kickstarter campaign, you will receive exactly 10x your initial investment and no more. If the campaign fails, the cars are yours and will easily sell for more than you paid, but I absolutely would not have the money to repay you, as I'm a full-time single father living off of my military retirement. I guess it's a good thing this product can't fail!

Hey, I am an aspiring business major and am wondering if someone can chance me. Sadly I did horrible my freshman year and had 2 ish B's which ruined my GPA and class rank. Now I am currently a little outside top 25% with a 3.84 unweighted. I have a 1530 SAT score, and my grades show growth as I had B's my freshman and 1 B my sophomore year, but in my junior year, I have All A's taking 5 AP Classes and the rest being Advanced classes, and I go to an extremely competitive high school.

I (18F) am graduating this June. My school requires to have at least 8 hours of community service hours to graduate and walk the stage. I currently have 16 hours and counting with another service day tomorrow. My friend (18M) says I am an asshole for taking community service hours from other students in need to graduate. The students in the school typically procrastinate on getting their hours completed earlier in the year so they wait about 2 or 1 month before graduation. It's a common theme in this school and I'm for sure it happens in other schools around the world too. The point is, these students are all scrambling to find last minute community hours to fulfil minimum requirements their senior year. I happen to stumble upon an opportunity near me regarding the district's elementary schools and participation for several end-of-the-year events. I signed up just to help out to the community. A bit of information about me, I love helping people and events! I've always been the person to go above and beyond to make things just a bit easier or better than before. I wanted to participate in my old elementary school's event since I started my 12 year journey there. I thought it would be a cute, sentimental idea. Like coming full circle and such. My friend says "YTA" because I am taking community service hours away from other seniors that need it. Personally, I feel like I just want to help out my community.

If you live in the area or visit and use the crosswalk at village at the park drive across from Rancho Rosal school you’ve probably experienced the unsettling feeling the catruck heading your way isn’t going to stop even though you’ve already started walking across. I’ve seen quite a few close calls and reached out to the city of Camarillo and our city representative Martita for help. I am curious if anyone would like to share their thoughts on my situation.
I went to school for commercial diving and worked in that line of work for one year up in Alaska. I am now almost done with my Associate degree in CIS and have been applying for entry-level jobs everywhere. I have not had any luck. Does anyone know of jobs or companies that need people who know their way around power tools/construction but also understand IT? I know its not really a time to be picky but I would like a job that I can work my way up in and has a lot of room to grow. I had previously worked at a place where all I had to look forward to was being away from home for even longer with twice as much work and maybe a bit more money.

Just had a question for this group. My wife was recently offered a job in the Austin area. After they sent her the offer she had to go through the school district and do the hiring paperwork. Up until that point all of her contact was with the school that was hiring. She was fully transparent stating that she was on a J1 visa holder with 2 years left on her sponsorship. When the district found out she was a J1 they rescinded the job offer. Can they do that?

I am now considering myself a former teacher. I left the classroom on maternity leave in Feb 22’ and wanted to stay gone longer to be more present and less tired with my own kids. Now, I fully do not want or intend to go back unless I have to (job market is TOUGH). I’ve come fully to the conclusion that though I did not have a horrible experience, I’m done with it.
SO!! If we’re all leaving (even us w/o bad experiences and just tired of the sheer amount of brain power and emotional capacity it takes) and I don’t blame anyone for making that decision, I’m just thinking as a parent WHAT THE HECK IS GONNA HAPPEN to my children’s schooling? Their education is on me, I’ll teach them. But yes. This is sad and it’s not our (teachers fault) and despite the shortage, there are major funding cuts like WHAT?!
My state is having major budget cuts and almost every day I’m seeing 50 or so positions being cut in various districts. I recently read an article about a school district saying because of the cuts they may have to move to a 40 to 1 class ratio!! Public education is FRIED!
That’s my rant. Thanks for making it this long.
