2024.05.17 11:23 throwRA1253 Gf developed a tendency to bite me various times throughout the day now. Is this normal?

So, it all started when I crossed off a major thing off her bucket list which is going on a couple’s cruise trip. Her graduation was coming up soon so in my mind, I said bet and surprised her with a virgin voyage cruise vacation as a gift for her finishing university.
I had her be blind folded 5 min before we arrived and revealed it to her when we were passing the ship. I also had her best friend pack clothes for her, and I made a little video of her friends and parents congratulating her on her achievement. She bawled her eyes out since she’s a pretty emotional gal, and just kept giving me kisses the entire time until we were on the ship. 9/10 experience btw, awesome food, entertainment, locations and people.
Anyway, after the cruise, it’s been chomp city ever since. She’ll bite me when we’re watching shows/movies. She’ll bite me when we’re cuddling, during sex, when we’re in public, etc. Everyday, she just chomps on me now. What’s up with that? I asked her and she just gets embarrassed and says she doesn’t know, she just wants to bite me whenever she looks at me or is near me. It doesn’t bother me but I do think it’s a little strange.

2024.05.17 07:26 Misfit-for-Hire Misfit's Sober Songs #193 - exile

Sober Song #193
exile - Taylor Swift feat. Bon Iver

I feel like “exile” is fundamentally a song about disappointment and resentment. There are two primary characters in it. One is resentful that the other left and found a new partner. The other is disappointed that their needs were not met in the previous relationship, and possibly resentful that their partner didn’t even try. That’s the literal read of it, but I like to vibe to the song when I’m feeling disappointed by or shut out of anything, even if what I am upset about is completely unrelated. The main reason it is here, though, is one specific lyric: “I think I've seen this film before / And I didn't like the ending”. It’s similar to the AA saying “play the tape forward”, but I guess I like the increased sense of foreboding and retreading old ground. I think about that line of the song every time I’m tempted to get into a situation where I can reasonably predict the outcome will be bad, especially if it is similar to things I have done in the past. It’s easy to want to do self-destructive things when I am feeling lost and disconnected, without a purpose or plan (“You're not my homeland anymore / So what am I defending now?”). Quitting drinking sure felt like banishment for a while, since I had abandoned what had become one of my key support structures for life and not yet figured out how to rejoin sober society (“You were my town, now I'm in exile, seein' you out”). But I watched the movie “Misfit Gets Drunk” so many times, I would have run a film reel ragged. That’s the nature of movies. Mufasa always dies, Darth Vader is always your father, and Bruce Willis was always a ghost the whole time. The same movie always ends the same way, but real life comes with a selection of movies and it’s my job to start picking better ones.

I can see you standing, honey
With his arms around your body
Laughin', but the joke's not funny at all
And it took you five whole minutes
To pack us up and leave me with it
Holdin' all this love out here in the hall

I think I've seen this film before
And I didn't like the ending
You're not my homeland anymore
So what am I defending now?
You were my town, now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before

Ooh, ooh, ooh

I can see you starin', honey
Like he's just your understudy
Like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me
Second, third, and hundredth chances
Balancin' on breaking branches
Those eyes add insult to injury

I think I've seen this film before
And I didn't like the ending
I'm not your problem anymore
So who am I offending now?
You were my crown, now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before
So I'm leaving out the side door

So step right out, there is no amount
Of crying I can do for you
All this time
We always walked a very thin line
You didn't even hear me out (You didn't even hear me out)
You never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
All this time
I never learned to read your mind (Never learned to read my mind)
I couldn't turn things around (You never turned things around)
'Cause you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
So many signs, so many signs
You didn't even see the signs

I think I've seen this film before
And I didn't like the ending
You're not my homeland anymore
So what am I defending now?
You were my town, now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before
So I'm leavin' out the side door

So step right out, there is no amount
Of crying I can do for you
All this time
We always walked a very thin line
You didn't even hear me out (Didn't even hear me out)
You never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
All this time
I never learned to read your mind (Never learned to read my mind)
I couldn't turn things around (You never turned things around)
'Cause you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
You never gave a warning sign (All this time)
(So many times) I never learned to read your mind
(So many signs) I couldn't turn things around (I couldn't turn things around)
'Cause you never gave a warning sign (You never gave a warning sign)
You never gave a warning sign
Ah, ah

The warning signs are always there and you can always turn things around. You don’t have to keep watching the same film. IWNDWYT <3

A dapper scent for the discerning gentleman. Guerlain Habit Rouge EDP, a comprehensive review 👇🏼
(Pc: Tried)

Guerlain

⭕️The epitome of French sophistication and luxury, boasts a rich history dating back to 1828 when Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain , a chemist and perfumer, founded the house in Paris. With an innate talent for blending exquisite scents, Guerlain quickly garnered attention and patronage from aristocrats and royalty.
⭕️One of Guerlain's early triumphs came in 1853 when Pierre-François created Eau de Cologne Impériale for Empress Eugénie , wife of Napoleon III. This fragrance, inspired by the scent of Eau de Cologne brought to France by soldiers returning from Cologne, Germany, became a sensation, solidifying Guerlain's reputation as a purveyor of luxury perfumes. Under the subsequent generations of the Guerlain family, the brand continued to flourish. Aime Guerlain, Pierre-François's grandson, introduced groundbreaking fragrances such as Jicky in 1889 , often regarded as the first modern perfume, and Shalimar in 1925 , inspired by the gardens of Shalimar in Lahore , India.
⭕️Today, as it has for nearly two centuries (196 years), Guerlain remains a beacon of timeless sophistication. The brand is also known as one of the manufacturers of luxury cosmetics.

I didn’t have the opportunity to experience vintage batches, but I had a 2015 version. So I’m familiar with the DNA.

Fragrance Profile

  • [x] Jasmine
  • [x] Vanilla
  • [x] Leather ✔️
  • [x] Benzoin ✔️
  • [x] Amber ✔️
  • [x] Labdanum
  • [x] Oakmoss ✔️
This is a classic fragrance, the notes list is enormous. But I have checked ✔️, all the notes that I can perceive to make you grasp the idea of the fragrance with ease.

How it smells?

💄It opens with bright 🍋 lemon note, it is the same as in Guerlain’s vetiver too. This lemon note starts sharp but not very abrasive. The rest of the citruses are hard to perceive.
💄The immediate second note that’s noticeable is the carnation. The carnation is extremely masculine, it expresses powdery & spicy qualities. The carnation gives this fragrance a spicy & floral edge. Then comes the rose & sandalwood 🪵.
💄The Rose & carnation along with some woodsy notes gives this fragrance a Lipsticky nature or Makeup box like nuance. Many ppl may not agree with this, but this is certainly lipsticky. The rose here is hardly there, even rose haters won’t mind this one.
💄The whole fragrance is based on Oakmoss & patchouli. Other notes such as amber, Benzoin & leather are playing second fiddle. The overall fragrance has a barbershoppy 💈quality to it. Citrusy opening — floral & powdery mid & Oakmoss base.

Undecorated breakdown

This opens up with fizzy lemon & some spices. The spiciness maybe from the carnation. This dries down to a 💄lipsticky or makeup box sorta smell. To my nose, this smells like Waxy Hibiscus 🌺 in the dry-down. It is not given in the notes breakdown. I’m saying this for a better understanding of the subject. That’s all.

Performance

Longevity

🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

Projection

🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑

Compliment

🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
The longevity of the fragrance maybe got affected after number of serious reformulations, but when comparing it to my 2015 version, I think the performance is about the same. Lasts about 4–5hrs with medium bubble of projection. The people who appreciate classic perfumery will love this.

When & Where, For whom?

🌤️ This can be an all-Seasoner, but I wouldn’t wear it in high heat. Not because it get cloying or anything, but you might not able to appreciate the beauty of this in high heat summer.
🌤️ This is polarising to an extent, but has an inoffensive bubble, this can be a daily to the office. This is definitely a dress-up fragrance. For the mature audience.
🌤️ This is definitely masculine, old school French perfumery. If you are into some old-school fragrances, you wouldn’t be disappointed. But you gotta love the lipsticky rose & carnation to love this.

Similarities with other fragrances

I haven’t come across anything that smell like this. But if I have to compare, this can be compared to Cartier Declaration dun Soir, but added citruses ,leathery & lipsticky goodness. But the core of Roses & mild spices, is to an extent similar to Habit Rouge. But the rose is toned at the background at all given time in HR but its not the same with Declaration Dun Soir. The similarites are really far fetched, its rather a resemblance than similarity.

Verdict

🎖️This is an Old-school Barbershoppy fragrance with a twist. The overall fragrance can be polarising cuz of the lipsticky smell.
🎖️The performance is just about average. I wouldn’t know the performance on vintage batches like (pre 1996) but I owned 2015 bottle, its about the same.
🎖️If you are really into retro/ antiquated fragrances, then you will really love it. If you are a fan of modern day freshies & blues, this won’t please you.

TL;DR :

This is a masculine, old-school, barbershoppy, lipsticky floral fragrance, with 4-5hrs of longevity with medium bubble of projection.

A Guide to Eating Indian Food: How to Enjoy Naan Bread and More!
https://preview.redd.it/3r3ipcrn5x0d1.png?width=1152&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ccaa526c0d68b4446964f7386c797ea8474cc62
Indian cuisine is a treasure trove of flavors, aromas, and textures that have delighted food enthusiasts worldwide. From the rich curries to the fragrant spices, every bite tells a story of tradition and culture. Among the staples of Indian cuisine is naan bread, a soft, pillowy flatbread that serves as the perfect accompaniment to a variety of dishes. If you're new to Indian food or looking to enhance your dining experience, this guide will walk you through the art of eating naan and more.

Appreciating Naan Bread
What is Naan Bread?
Naan is a leavened, oven-baked flatbread that originated in India and is now beloved globally. It's typically made from a simple dough of flour, yeast, water, salt, and sometimes yogurt. The dough is rolled out and then cooked in a hot tandoor, a clay oven, resulting in its signature fluffy texture and slightly charred exterior.

Most Popular Flavors of Naan Bread:At Indian restaurants, one of the most popular flavors of naan bread is garlic naan. This aromatic and flavorful variation of the classic naan is infused with minced garlic and often topped with fresh cilantro. The combination of the soft, pillowy bread and the savory garlic creates a heavenly aroma and taste that pairs perfectly with a variety of Indian dishes. Garlic naan adds a delightful kick to any meal, making it a favorite among diners seeking a bit of extra flavor and indulgence in their dining experience.

How to Eat Naan Bread:
Tear and DipOne of the most common ways to enjoy naan is to tear off a piece and use it to scoop up your curry or other dishes. Simply tear off a small portion, fold it to create a scoop-like shape, and dip it into the flavorful curry or sauce.

Roll and FillIf you're enjoying stuffed naan, such as garlic naan or paneer naan, you can roll it up and eat it like a wrap. This method allows you to savor the filling along with the soft bread.

Pair with ChutneyNaan pairs wonderfully with various chutneys and dips. Try it with mango chutney, mint chutney, or a spicy tomato-based dip for an explosion of flavors.

Create a Naan PizzaFor a fun twist, use naan as a base for a quick and easy Indian-inspired pizza. Top it with your favorite ingredients such as paneer, vegetables, and a sprinkle of cheese, then bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Sop up Sauces
Don't let any of the delicious sauce from your curry go to waste. Use torn pieces of naan to sop up every last bit, ensuring you get a bit of everything in each bite.
Embrace Eating with Your Hands

In many Indian restaurants, it's common to eat with your hands, especially when enjoying dishes like biryani or thali meals. Don't be shy—washing your hands before and after the meal is part of the experience.
Whether you're a seasoned Indian food enthusiast or a curious newcomer, there's always something new and exciting to discover in this rich and flavorful cuisine. So, the next time you sit down to enjoy a meal of aromatic curries, crispy dosas, and fluffy naan, remember these tips to savor every bite and embrace the diverse world of Indian flavors. Bon appétit, or as they say in India, "Khana Mazaa Aya!" (Enjoy your meal!)

2024.05.17 04:05 Forsaken-Slide2 I think i might’ve cooked on AP lang

Q3. I opened it and immediately closed it because I was like wtf. I also completely gave up on the rhetorical analysis because I just didn't understand the passage and hadn't written one in like 3 months. So I got the thesis and 2 evidence with very loose reasonings. Anyway I flip to Q3 and I thought long and hard. I eventually came up with the evidence and then started writing. I initially started with the counterpoint because that's what I like to do with this essay, and used the Tears in the Rain speech from Bladerunner to say that your life doesn't matter at all so why would you take selfies. I dead ass wrote "Your life means nothing. You serve zero purpose". I then transitioned into talking about people etching their names into wood such as "John was here" before using a personal anecdote that when I do something similar it's very spontaneous. I then broadened it by using tombstones to say that people take that desire to their grave along with using makeshift tombstones, in times of war, to show that it's a universal thing across all cultures, meaning it's an innate human trait. The next paragraph I put in another example which was the voyager probe, or as I called it, the cosmic selfie. Rounding it all up I said that selfies are a form of documenting one's existence and are valid since it's human nature to do so. My friends think I'm insane but I think I might’ve gotten the sophistication point since everyone else talked about selfies themselves

Merci beaucoup!! J’adore le français!!! :)

Hi! I moved to Gatineau a year ago and am still learning French, so sorry if it's not very good.
I have a particular question and I need someone to tell me how this works. When I go to IGA, before paying but after the cashier scans my Scene card, they ask if I want points or gas. But they speak so fast I end up never knowing what they are saying and I end up having to ask them in English.
The cashier doesn't say "gaz" but I'm not sure what the word they say is - I want to learn. Are they saying "essence"? If I want the points to go to gas, do I say “l’essance, s’il vous plait”? Is that how you'd say it? When I say "gaz" they don't know what I'm talking about.
I know this is a super tiny problem but when I go to IGA I want to be able to speak French the entire time. :)
Thank you! I love learning French!

2024.05.17 00:05 Zeddblidd Two for 1993 - The Adventures of Huck Finn (1993) / The Sandlot (1993)

From IMDb - Adventures of Huck Finn - In Missouri, during the 1840s, young Huck Finn fearful of his drunkard father and yearning for adventure, leaves his foster family and joins with runaway slave Jim in a voyage down the Mississippi River toward slavery free states.
2024-188 / Zedd MAP: 55.68 / MLZ MAP: 40.50 / Score Gap: 15.18
Wikipedia / IMDb / Official Trailer / Our Collection
From IMDB - The Sandlot - In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures.
I rolled out of bed, took a few minutes to wipe the sleep out of my eyes, get that cup of coffee every new sunrise offers, and sat down in my trusted armchair - Mrs. Lady Zedd pushed play and The Adventures of Huck Finn hit the screen. I guess we’re doing this now - Morning Movies, well - I can bring the movie on whenever.
MLZ is a woman possessed - she’s been driving the big numbers we’ve been making this month: these two make #30 and #31 for the month ((damn)), we’re moving right along. If I’m being honest, I always associated movie watching with myself but Mrs. Lady Zedd is a cinephile’s cinephile. You’d have to get up pretty early in the morning to actively engage motion pictures like she does. She’s interested in any genre and I can’t even make that claim.
Neither of us had seen this incarnation of Huck Finn and it’s pretty much a pedestrian look at the life and times of a kid from a very different walk of life and time… but aren’t we just the same? That seems to be the message of any movie pushing Americana at its core. Nothing wrong with that (per se) but my “propaganda” button goes off at times like these.
“I don’t know why,” I say, “but this movie feels like *The Sandlot - the way it’s put together, the syrupy dialog and the clarity of the picture.” MLZ hmms and ya, see thats as I’m talking. It’s not about the story but the way the story is being told. Wide-eyed look back - that overwhelming feeling that the good old days were then, not now. Maybe it’s just me but I suggest we watch The Sandlot next and she readily agrees.
It’s while I’m filling in The Sandlot’s particulars that I spy (with my little eye) both films are from 1993. Ain’t that just the way. I’m filling in my form and am halfway through the cast when I wonder when each were in the theater? If I had to guess, I’d say Sandlot is pure early summer - Huck Finn could be fall?? I check: Sandlot is April 1, 1993 / Huck Finn is April 2, 1993. ((Blink-blink)) I just stare off in space… guess we picked well, from a date standpoint.
I pull up 1993 in the MCC because I wonder - there’s another motion picture I’d throw into a “feels like this” pile, and there it is: Matinee. “Huh” I say out loud - MLZ says, “Sounds about right.” and that’s when all hell broke loose.
The doorbell rang (despite all sorts of signs asking delivery drivers not to) and the dogs straight up go berserk. There are scratch marks above the top of the door - these pups are serious where the doorbell is concerned. The delivery? The very last Disney Movie Club order (this time for real). I’ll post pictures.
As we come to the end of the second film, I have to ask myself - how would either of these movies landed on me if I was 8 in 1993 (instead of 1979). I’m not sure - both movies share an insipid “the way we were” element, a fake history that I’ve always had a mild allergic reaction too. The kids in ‘79 were all hopped up on the future - NASA, and men walking on the moon, and Star Wars, and Tron… everyone I knew couldn’t hardly wait for what the future would hold… if I could broadcast a message from now to then, I’d simply say, “Live for the moment, the future is pretty shit.”
I asked Mrs. Lady Zedd what she thought and she said, “I think you get way too philosophical about everything.” A long blank stare later, I say about the movies. She said both were “fine”. Elijah Wood was more that cute as Huck, you can see he was already developing as an actor.
As for The Soundlot she gave me that fake smile she gives when something didn’t sit well with her. “The over the top of the movie narration just popped my movie bubble - every - damn - time.” She said it was so awkwardly done, so poorly written, so defectively slapped in there, it’s a brown patch in an otherwise “meh” apple.
I’m left to scratch my head. Things can change over time and my MAP dropped significantly since our last viewing in 2021. I normally look up past write ups to make sure I’m not just restating what’s already been said but I know for a fact that won’t be the case. I’d developed some nostalgia for the movie based on our neighborhood’s regular July 4th block party. The guy down the street played The Sandlot on his garage door every year before the fireworks got started.
Our neighborhood had changed a great deal since the pandemic. People moved on, new (less friendly) people moved in. I hate to say it but politics have transformed things as well. I think many of you will recognize what I’m saying. No more 4th of July (or any other) block parties.
What’s the opposite of nostalgia? Sad sentiments, I guess. We’ll be gone from here sooner than later, I hope something positive will come of our time in Texas - some hidden cause to smile, later, when I think back.
Movie on.

Joined a random crew, I put a limited voyage as an option it wasn't picked, no one was communicating I grabbed it and left. Go to do it myself on my own ship and it says I don't have any.
UPDATE: I closed the game. Logged back on chose closed crew, and got on my ship, to my surprise it was available again

Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch, Reminiscence: By Their Own Rope to Chapter 7
Welcome back to Tal Verrar, where the artifice is real and the pirates are fake. Let's see if we know the Gentlemen Bastards’ business this week.
Summary
Six months since the last Reminiscence, Locke has locked up the mysterious chairs and is with Jean in Vo Samara. Jean brought rope which was secured around a thick tree trunk. They're practicing getting to the vault. They used harnesses and a safety line to rappel down the cliff.
Someone calls down to them from the top. He'd steal their coats and chop the ropes. He was a highwayman always on the lookout for people to rob. He called them heretics and cut one of Locke’s lines. Jean tried to throw a knife at him, but only the hilt hit. Then the thief fell off the cliff onto Locke’s harness. Jean grabbed the bandit by the hair, and Locke held a knife to his throat.
His name was Trav, and he was unemployed. Jean made it up first and hauled them up. Locke berates the incompetent thief. He left a purse of silver for him. He could be helpful to them later if he remembered their kindness. It had been eighteen months since anyone tried to kill them.
In the present day, they eat breakfast at The Gilded Cloister. They discuss the attack last night and who might want them dead. Merrain is dressed as a waitress and hands them a bill and a note to meet where they first met. They are on their guard all the way there. They enter an abandoned shop where four men in gray cloaks and hats wait for them. The four men are decoys. Jean and Locke don their own cloaks and hats and get in a carriage.
Merrain is already in their carriage. They will head to the docks. They hoist themselves into a boat filled with rowers. Merrain is the coxswain. They enter the Sword Marina and the stone walls of the bay. A man meets them there and says it's a fool's mission. He's Caldris the ship's master. He leads them to a dinghy in a “pissing-pond” for practice. Stragos had tricked him with poisoned wine, too, so he “volunteered” his services.
Every ship must have a woman officer and a cat for luck. They have a kitten but don't need the woman yet. Caldris cut their palms with a knife and put a slice of bread over it as part of a ritual to the deity Iono Stormbringer. They practice rowing for hours. He bet them that they would capsize, and he won.
Locke is exhausted, but he has to see Requin and give him the chairs and tell him of the voyage. Merrain almost didn't let him go. After two hours, he and the chairs go to see Requin. He waits at the service entrance and pays a servant to get him Selendri. She used to be an Eye of the Archon before her injury.
Requin loves the chairs. Locke says he won them in a card game. He tells Requin that he'll be away for a while to find a lockpicker named “Calo Callas.” Requin makes him promise to tell him of any more plans right away.
They learn how to use a Verrari/Camorri quadrant (sextant) among other navigational instruments, books, and charts. Stragos and Merrain pay a visit to fit his uniform. He must look the part of a Captain at least for a day.
The ship The Red Messenger is in the harbor one day. It was seized from a man who tried to smuggle in stiletto wasps. The enormity of his task hit Locke as he boarded for the first time. Two weeks of training had prepared him to climb the ropes to the mast and sails. Caldris was feeling his age as they climbed down. Luckily the captain and the master stay on deck.
Jean found Locke in a sailor’s bar trying to get drunk and forget anything nautical for a night. (Wrong place for it.) Six watchmen entered and caused tension. The bar patrons were hostile, so one of the watchmen left some money for a round on him and all left. Locke and Jean give their free dark ale to a dockworker woman. The woman was choking and gagging. One the bar workers had put some poison (and not salt) in the drinks!
A ship leech used Locke’s stiletto to perform a tracheotomy on her so she could breathe. It was too late, though. The barkeeper accused the doctor of killing her. The other sailors demand he apologize. Then he drank some ale to prove it wasn't deadly. Jean asked where the second assistant was. Authorities would be called, so Jean and Locke made their exit. The free ale was a cover, and the watchmen were used by someone trying to kill them. The Priori did it.
Jean catches a man in the alleyway. He's an Eye, but who can be sure anymore? They want him to send a message to Merrain that they need a place to stay and protection.
They check out of the inn, and Locke sends a note to Requin. Caldris is even harder on them in his training. All three devise hand signals for when they can't speak among the crew. Caldris and Merrain are impressed by Locke's acting prowess.
Later on, Locke and Jean knock out a guard with a hood full of a sedative. A tower is their destination. Stragos had brought one of his own ships for them to do a demonstration. They sail to Windward Rock where a prison tower stands. That's where Stragos locked up the other Captain for stealing and treachery. He says that this Captain is Locke.
In the tower, Locke hands his papers to a woman who shows them to the lieutenant behind a desk. His pseudonym is Orrin Ravelle. He and Jean are there to see the prisoners. They both attack the guards. A poison called witfrost will put them asleep for the night.
Stragos tells Locke about Highpoint Citadel Gaol and Windward Rock. He has arranged for Ravelle to have a paper trail. He will find his crew in Windward Rock. The prisoners were in one large cell. Locke tells them that he chose them to be his crew. (Stragos chose 44 and made their lives miserable so they would want to leave and be on his crew. Four were women and got too sick, or so he said.)
Locke promises them equal shares of any plunder and freedom from the hell cell. They clamber to join.
Caldris had a bad feeling about the voyage if there won't be any women on board and no basket of cats.
Prisoner Jabril is made acting mate. Two younger prisoners row a boat out to a bigger boat. They all board and sail to the Red Messenger.
Merrain had hidden nearby, and after they all left, she snuck into the tower and killed the guards except the two on the top floor.
Locke pretends to knock out the guard on the ship. Duties are assigned. The guard is placed in the smaller boat. Some of the men were on the ship before and were assigned topmen. So starts their voyage. Locke was having fun playing the part of rogue Captain.
They sight sails on day three, but it's too early to be pillaging. Locke orders them to practice archery. Caldris estimates that they'll make it to the Ghostwinds in two weeks.
The crew drank and partied, playing knife throwing games. Locke saw bioluminescent ghostly things called flit-wraiths. Caldris had seen unbelievable things out on the sea. Two of the islands’ populations were destroyed: one by fire during a war and one by some kind of monster from the jungle.
The crew notices there are no cats. Locke had forgotten them on shore. (Uh-oh!) He tells them they're shy and hiding. Caldris is tired and gets little sleep. He is pissed off that there's no cats. The crew will mutiny if they find out. They'll have to fight another ship just for the cats. (They better hope it rains cats and dogs.)
A storm is brewing. The crew ready the ship and its supplies. Locke and Jean spend rare time alone in the stern cabin. Caldris feebly knocks at the door, and has a heart attack. He dies just as the storm hits. (Double uh-oh!)

2024.05.16 20:46 greysyouruncle Does anyone else avoid the Scarlet Lady?

Basically just what the title says. I’ve been fortunate enough to cruise many times with VV and I’ve been noticing a trend (but I’m trying to figure out if it’s all in my head or not!)
Does it seem to anyone else like Scarlet Lady is used as a ‘training ground’ of sorts? It feels like my experiences with staff on Valiant and Resilient were so much more elevated than my recent experiences with Scarlet, and I feel like when I talk to staff on Scarlet they seem very new to not only VV but to working on cruise ships in general. Almost every staff member I’ve interacted with on every Virgin ship has been wonderful (they’re a huge reason why I continue to return to VV!) but the folks on Scarlet just seem inexperienced and honestly a little nervous in conducting their tasks correctly! No shade at all to them, but I feel bad about the level of anxiety some of the new folks have on Scarlet!
Not only is it a staff thing, but it seems like the boat is visually aging faster than I’ve seen comparable boats in other fleets? The only times I’ve had issues with elements of the cabin not working right (leaky showers, broken lights, defunct control tablets, etc) has been on Scarlet. I just find myself looking to trips on ships that aren’t Scarlet more and more often and frankly just trying to avoid her voyages!
Maybe I’m just engaging in confirmation bias, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this potential pattern? Or am I just crazy and seeing things that aren’t there lmao
So jealous of y’all sailing right now as I procrastinate my work! Hope everyone’s well!

2024.05.16 19:21 Accurate-Nothing3181 Streak #21 Je veux immigrer
