2024.05.20 02:08 Tentio_1 Does anyone else deal with guilt related to writing and interests?

Yeah so, this has been on my mind for quite awhile, and been a very big factor into how much I write.
On the outside and to everyone I know IRL, I’m a regular guy on the younger side who’s interested in regular things, nothing anyone would bat an eye at.
Behind closed doors I’m a fanfiction writer who dabbles in romance and is interested in some questionable fandoms to most people. The fandom I write for is one I’ve been into since I was a kid and the reason I write at all, and I’ve seen a lot of positive feedback for my writing online.
The thing is I’m honest to god so embarrassed of these interests and writing fanfiction as a hobby, and that embarrassment fluctuates and tends to affect when and how much I write.
At the end of the day, I know that my interests are not actually that weird, if at all, and a lot of people are into this stuff, but I’d be lying if I said I could look any of my IRL friends in the eyes if they knew what I do on the internet or god forbid someone I was interested in romantically found out. (which is why I literally do everything possible to cover my tracks to anyone I know in the real world)
This leads to a lot of self-induced guilt that makes me just ask myself constantly if I’m a weird person. Sometimes I know I’m being a bit unreasonable with myself and just opt in with the “who cares what other people would think” but other times I just can’t shake the feeling and feel like I’m in denial of the fact that I’m kind of weird (sometimes even going as far to cause me to private my stories for a bit) and this post will most likely see an inevitable deletion too.
Am I the only one who deals with this?

Directors at the Box Office: Clint Eastwood (Part 2)

As Reddit doesn't allow posts to exceed 40,000 characters, Eastwood's edition had to be split into two parts because his whole career cannot be ignored. The first part was posted yesterday.

Million Dollar Baby (2004)¨

"Beyond his silence, there is a past. Beyond her dreams, there is a feeling. Beyond hope, there is a memory. Beyond their journey, there is a love."
His 25th film. Based on stories from the 2000 collection Rope Burns: Stories from the Corner by F.X. Toole, it stars Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. The film follows Margaret "Maggie" Fitzgerald, an underdog amateur boxer who is helped by an underappreciated boxing trainer to achieve her dream of becoming a professional.
Paul Haggis wrote the script on spec, and it took four years to sell it. The film was stuck in development hell for years before it was shot. Several studios rejected the project even when Eastwood signed on as actor and director. Even Warner Bros., Eastwood's longtime home base, would not agree to a $30 million budget. Eastwood persuaded Lakeshore Entertainment's Tom Rosenberg to put up half the budget (as well as handle foreign distribution), with Warner Bros. contributing the rest.
The film had an incredible run in limited release, breaking many records for Eastwood's career. It eventually earned a fantastic $216 million worldwide, becoming his highest grossing film ever. It received critical acclaim, and it was named as one of his greatest films. It won four Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (for Swank), and Best Supporting Actor (for Freeman). Eastwood became one of the very few directors to make two films to win both Best Picture and Best Director.
  • Budget: $30,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $100,492,203. ($166.8 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $216,763,646.

Flags of Our Fathers (2006)

"A single shot can end the war."
His 26th film. Based on the book written by James Bradley and Ron Powers, it stars Ryan Phillippe, Jesse Bradford, Adam Beach, John Benjamin Hickey, John Slattery, Paul Walker, Jamie Bell, Barry Pepper, Robert Patrick and Neal McDonough. The film follows the 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima, the five Marines and one Navy corpsman who were involved in raising the flag on Iwo Jima, and the after effects of that event on their lives.
The film received positive reviews, but it bombed at the box office with just $65 million against its huge $90 million budget.
  • Budget: $90,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $33,602,376. ($52.2 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $65,900,249.

Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

"The completion of the Iwo Jima saga."
His 27th film. Based on Picture Letters from Commander in Chief by Tadamichi Kuribayashi, it stars Ken Watanabe, Kazunari Ninomiya, Tsuyoshi Ihara, Ryō Kase and Shidō Nakamura. It's a companion film to Flags of Our Fathers, and portrays the Battle of Iwo Jima from the perspective of the Japanese soldiers.
In the process of reading about the Japanese perspective of the war for Flags of Our Fathers, in particular General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, Eastwood decided to film a companion piece with this film, which was shot entirely in Japanese. The film was shot back-to-back, starting filming just one month after Flags of Our Fathers wrapped filming.
Despite being seen as the least accessible of both films, this film was much more successful at the box office than the previous film (including a colossal $42 million in Japan alone). It also received critical acclaim, particularly for how it handed the depiction of good and evil from both sides. It received 4 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
  • Budget: $19,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $13,756,082. ($21.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $68,673,228.

Changeling (2008)

"To find her son, she did what no one else dared."
His 28th film. It stars Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich, and is based on real-life events, specifically the 1928 Wineville Chicken Coop murders in Mira Loma, California. It follows a woman united with a boy who she realizes is not her missing son. When she tries to demonstrate that to the police and city authorities, she is vilified as delusional, labeled as an unfit mother and confined to a psychiatric ward.
The film earned $113 million worldwide, barely breaking even at the box office. The film received mixed reviews, but Jolie received praise for her performance. She was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress.
  • Budget: $55,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $35,739,802. ($52 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $113,398,237.

Gran Torino (2008)

"Ever come across somebody you shouldn't have messed with?"
His 29th film. It stars Eastwood, and follows Walt Kowalski, a recently widowed Korean War veteran alienated from his family and angry at the world, whose young neighbor, Thao Vang Lor, is pressured by his cousin into stealing Walt's prized Ford Torino for his initiation into a gang. Walt thwarts the theft and subsequently develops a relationship with the boy and his family.
The film received great reviews, as well as praise from the Hmong community. It ended up becoming a sleeper hit, and it earned $270 million worldwide, becoming his highest grossing film.
  • Budget: $25,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $148,095,302. ($215.6 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $269,958,228.

Invictus (2009)

"His people needed a leader. He gave them a champion."
His 30th film. It stars Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. Following the aftermath of the apartheid, President Nelson Mandela decides to unite his people by supporting a rugby team in their bid to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
The film earned $122 million worldwide, barely breaking even. It received positive reviews, and Freeman and Damon received Oscar nominations for their performances.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $37,491,364. ($54.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $122,426,792.

Hereafter (2010)

"Touched by death. Changed by life."
His 31st film. It stars Matt Damon, Cécile de France, Bryce Dallas Howard, Lyndsey Marshal, Jay Mohr and Thierry Neuvic. An American with a special connection to the afterlife, a woman with a near-death experience and a young English boy, who lost his loved ones, cross paths in an effort to find closure in their lives.
Despite mixed reviews, it managed to earn $107 million, turning a small profit.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $32,746,941. ($47 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $106,956,330.

J. Edgar (2011)

"The most powerful man in the world."
His 32nd film. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts, Josh Lucas, and Judi Dench, and follows the career of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, focusing on Hoover's life from the 1919 Palmer Raids onward.
The film received mixed reviews; while DiCaprio received praise, the technical aspects of the film were criticized. It earned $84 million, making it a box office success, but far below what DiCaprio usually makes at the box office.
  • Budget: $35,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $37,306,030. ($52 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $84,920,539.

Jersey Boys (2014)

"Everybody remembers it how they need to."
His 33rd film. Base on the 2004 jukebox musical, it stars John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, Vincent Piazza and Christopher Walken, and tells the story of the musical group The Four Seasons.
It received mixed reviews, with praise for the musical numbers but criticism for the narrative and runtime, and failed at the box office.
  • Budget: $40,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $47,047,013. ($62.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $67,647,013.

American Sniper (2014)

"The most lethal sniper in U.S. history."
His 34th film. It is based on the memoir by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice, and stars Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller. The film follows the life of Kyle, who became the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history with 255 kills from four tours in the Iraq War, 160 of which were officially confirmed by the Department of Defense. While Kyle was celebrated for his military successes, his tours of duty took a heavy toll on his personal and family life.
In 2012, Cooper and Warner Bros. bought the rights to the memoir. Cooper wanted Chris Pratt to star as Kyle, but WB told him they would only greenlight the film if he stars in it. After Kyle's murder in 2013, Steven Spielberg signed to direct. Spielberg had read Kyle's book, though he desired to have a more psychological conflict present in the screenplay so an "enemy sniper" character could serve as the insurgent sharpshooter who was trying to track down and kill Kyle. Spielberg's ideas contributed to the development of a lengthy screenplay approaching 160 pages. Due to Warner Bros.' budget constraints, Spielberg felt he could not bring his vision of the story to the screen. So Eastwood was brought in to direct.
The film attained a solid, but not extraordinary response from critics. It also attracted some controversy over its portrayal of both the Iraq War and Kyle himself.
The box office though?
To say that the film had a fantastic run would be selling it short.
It opened on Christmas Day in 4 theaters, and it earned a huge $633,456 ($158,364 PTA). But the following weekend, it actually increased despite playing at the same amount of theaters, adding $676,909. That translated to a $169,227 PTA, becoming the highest second weekend PTA in history for a live-action film. And on its third weekend, it earned $579,518 ($144,879 PTA), becoming the first film to have three weekends above $100,000 PTA. In the 22 days it played in just 4 theaters, it earned $3,424,778.
On its first wide weekend, the film shook the industry by opening with a colossal $89 million. That was almost as much as the other 2014 blockbusters, and given that the film didn't have 3D pricing, it's very likely it sold far more tickets than them. It broke the January opening weekend record by twice as much, and the second biggest for an R-rated title. With insane word of mouth ("A+" on CinemaScore), this film had the legs. In less than one week, it became Eastwood's highest grossing film domestically. On its second weekend, it dropped just 28% and made $64 million, which was the biggest second weekend for an R-rated film (a record it still maintains) and crossed $200 million domestically. And by March, the film overtook The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 ($334 million) as the highest grossing 2014 film in North America.
After an insane run in theaters, it closed with a gigantic $350 million domestically, which made it the second highest grossing R-rated film in North America. Overseas, it was also very strong, and it made a huge $547 million worldwide. It was easily Eastwood's highest grossing film, even adjusted for inflation. One of the greatest box office runs in recent memory. It received six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actor for Cooper, ultimately winning one for Best Sound Editing.
The biggest surprise of the 2010s? Perhaps. Cause let's face it, when 2014, did any of you had this as the top film of the year? Or even in the Top 20? Please.
  • Budget: $59,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $350,159,020. ($463.7 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $547,659,020.

Sully (2016)

"The untold story behind the miracle on the Hudson."
His 35th film. Based on the autobiography Highest Duty by Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles, it stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn, Autumn Reeser, Holt McCallany, and Jamey Sheridan. The film follows Sullenberger's 2009 emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River, in which all 155 passengers and crew survived and the subsequent publicity and investigation.
The film received strong reviews, and earned over $240 million worldwide, becoming one of his highest grossing films.
  • Budget: $60,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $125,070,033. ($163.3 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $243,870,033.

The 15:17 to Paris (2018)

"The real heroes."
His 36th film. Based on the autobiography by Jeffrey E. Stern, Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, and Alek Skarlatos, it stars Stone, Sadler, and Skarlatos as themselves and follows the trio through life leading up to and including their stopping of the 2015 Thalys train attack.
Despite choosing Kyle Gallner, Jeremie Harris and Alexander Ludwig as the leads, Eastwood decided to cast the heroes to play themselves, which was met with confusion as they lacked acting experience. And that was reflected on the final film; it received negative reviews for its acting, and it bombed at the box office.
  • Budget: $30,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $36,276,286. ($45.2 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $57,176,286.

The Mule (2018)

"Nobody runs forever."
His 37th film. Based on the 2014 The New York Times article The Sinaloa Cartel's 90-Year-Old Drug Mule by Sam Dolnick, it stars Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest, and Andy García. Due to financial issues, horticulturist Earl Stone becomes a courier for a drug cartel. Slowly, he grows closer to his estranged family, but his illegal activities threaten much more than his life.
It received good reviews (although some questioned its story and tone), and earned over $173 million worldwide.
  • Budget: $50,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $103,804,407. ($129.6 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $174,804,407.

Richard Jewell (2019)

"The world will know his name and the truth."
His 38th film. The film stars Paul Walter Hauser, Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, and Olivia Wilde. The film depicts the July 27 Centennial Olympic Park bombing and its aftermath, as security guard Richard Jewell finds a bomb during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, and alerts authorities to evacuate, only to later be wrongly accused of having placed the device himself.
The film received positive reviews, but several journalists criticized the critical portrayal of the reporter that first accused Jewell: Kathy Scruggs (specifically for trading sex for stories). The film marked another commercial failure for Eastwood.
  • Budget: $45,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $22,345,542. ($27.4 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $44,645,542.

Cry Macho (2021)

"A story of being lost and found."
His 39th film. Based on the novel by N. Richard Nash, it stars Eastwood and Dwight Yoakam. Set in 1979, it follows a former rodeo star hired to reunite a young boy in Mexico with his father in the United States.
Nash tried to get this film made all the way since 1970s, but no studio was willing to pick it up. He restructured his films as a novel, was successful and studios were now interested. There were a few candidates for the leading role; Robert Mitchum, Roy Scheider, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Eastwood himself. Arnie was willing to star in the film back in 2003, but put it on hold when he was elected Governor. He was set to star after leaving office, but the project was scrapped after his affair scandal was made known. In 2020, Eastwood signed to return.
The film received mixed reviews, particularly for its writing and acting. It was also a huge flop at the box office, and marked Eastwood's least attended film as leading man. David Zaslav criticized the studio's decision to finance the film. Warner executives allegedly said that although they knew the film was unlikely to turn a profit, they felt indebted to Eastwood for his decades-long relationship with the studio and his consistent ability to deliver films under budget and on time.
  • Budget: $33,000,000.
  • Domestic gross: $10,310,734. ($11.9 million adjusted)
  • Worldwide gross: $16,510,734.

The Future

He recently wrapped post-production on his 40th film, Juror No. 2. It stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch, Leslie Bibb, Chris Messina, J. K. Simmons and Kiefer Sutherland, and follows a juror serving on a murder trial who realizes he may be at fault for the victim's death.

The Verdict

Insanely profitable.
Even the bombs do not taint this kind of reputation. Eastwood has made all these films under budget and never past its deadline. That's something that has to be treasured for studios, no wonder he's been staying with Warner Bros. since 1976. His ability to get films ready in short notice is impressive; Richard Jewell started filming in June and it was on theaters in December. One of the most impressive actors who transitioned into directors. You can tell that Sergio Leone and Don Siegel taught him well.
Now of course, his method of directing can also have its setbacks: he's often known for not asking for multiple takes and he skips rehearsals. So that means the performances of his actors aren't always the best they could've done. Which is why, despite making some masterpieces or fantastic films, he's also made a few films with weak technical aspects: poor lighting (J. Edgar), questionable logic (Cry Macho), obvious props (the fake baby in American Sniper), and some bad acting (Gran Torino and The 15:17 to Paris). At the same time, it's clear he can also get extraordinary performances through these methods; Gene Hackman, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman won Oscars for starring in his films.
He also proved old age doesn't prevent you from continuing to work. He's turning 94 in a few weeks, and he's still directing films. Manoel de Oliveira directed films until he was 104, so perhaps we still have a few more years with Eastwood behind the camera.
P.S. Ever since I started this series, there's been suggestions that I should do "Actors at the Box Office" multiple times. While the idea is intriguing, that doesn't seem feasible for me. I'd have to categorize whether the actor is leading, supporting, original IP, adaptation, remakes, etc. Besides, with the continuing decline of star power, it's tough to decide what actor is truly moving the needle at the box office. That's why I'm making solely "Directors at the Box Office", because the director is responsible for the production. If the film succeeds, the director will get credit. And if the film flops, the director will be blamed. So this is the closest you'll get to "Actors at the Box Office".
Hope you liked this edition. You can find this and more in the wiki for this section.
The next director will be Robert Zemeckis. One of the biggest falls from grace.
I asked you to choose who else should be in the run and the comment with the most upvotes would be chosen. It had to be a controversial filmmaker. Well, we'll later talk about... Zack Snyder. Oh, BoxOffice chose fuego 🔥
This is the schedule for the following four:
Week Director Reasoning
May 20-26 Robert Zemeckis Can we get old Zemeckis back?
May 27-June 2 Richard Donner An influential figure of the 70s and 80s.
June 3-9 Ang Lee What happened to Lee?
June 10-16 Zack Snyder RIP Inbox.

2024.05.20 02:03 mozaaz37 Debunk this: Apocalypse starts between 2025 and 2027 and Jesus returns between 2030 and 2034

Hi guys, i'm a brazilian 17 year old guy that was happy, sympathetic and caring towards others, I am catholic and I participate in Sunday school every Saturday, but since the start of the pandemic in march 2020 onwards, i suddenly became brainwashed and paranoic with Christian conspiracy theories, mainly Qanon, and end times prophecies but in 2022 it only got worse, it all started at school when my sociology teacher who coincidentally was an evangelical pastor started talking a little about the end of times/Ragnarok and my friend said that between 2023, 2024 the apocalypse will begin, or it doesn't happen anything in these years, very probably in 2025 and 2027, and i searched on youtube and i saw various evangelical channels claiming that we are at the end of times and 2030 the world will end bc in that year Jesus will come back to only save evangelical christians and will only save those who are on the Life Book and will throw everyone who's those name wasn't on Life Book burn alive on the lake of fire of the hell alongside the antichrist, false prophet and everyone who followed him and God will destroy the universe and we will be living in the New Jerusalem, and they say repent of sins because the devil exists and they insist on saying that sin and the devil exist even though this has not even been scientifically proven, such as not wearing short clothes like shorts, jeans, not getting tattoos or piercings, not eating meat of pork, prohibiting homosexuality, free will, dating during adolescence and many others, they say that we are experiencing the greatest apostasy in history, which means that people are moving away from faith and and God and ignoring the warnings about the doomsday bc the world is becoming more ''sinful'' and the love between the people has been cooled and we are living like in the antediluvian days when Noah warned about the cataclysm but people ignored, mocked and called him demented and paranoid and instead they were eating, drinking and partying until the flood came and destroyed the world. world and killed everyone, and they keep repeating this saying that this is real even though it has been proven that it never happened and that it is impossible for a storm this strong to cover the top of Mount Everest, they think they are right and scientists are wrong, because science is an ''abominable sin'' against God, They say that God is merciful but he is also wrathful and cruel against those who do not follow his commandments. and they also talk about Jesus' appearance as if it were true at that time even though it has not yet been proven. i've watched some videos of these pastors and missionaries of my country and never got their prophecies and predictions wrong, all of things that have said become true
They say that geopolitical tensions are increasing which will cause ww3, it is no wonder that countless billionaires around the world like Mark Zuckerberg are building bunkers and selling several of their assets, i saw a letter written in 1873 that a American Freemason named Albert Pike who in his letter predicted the first two world wars, and is now supposedly ''predicted correctly'' the third world war, which would begin with a conflict between Zionist Israelis and Arabs, and also they claim that this war between Israel and Iran -Hamas is also the prophecy of Gog and Magog being fulfilled, They also say that the world will enter an unprecedented global economic crisis worse than the great depression, which would increase prices absurdly and this would culminate in the greatest famine the world has ever had, surpassing the great famine of the Middle Age,
They also say that elites such as the World Economic Forum, the UN and the Bilderberg Group will launch a gigantic EMP weapon that will shut down all energy and appliances in the world, and that they will then enact global martial law that will taking citizens off the streets and homes via buses and putting them in concentration camps and killing mainly white and conservative Christian groups and burying them in FEMA coffins which will start the famous New World Order and mass depopulation through the great reset and agenda 2030 and will put an end to all cash and create an electronic currency where payment is made with the global fingerprint, which they also say will replace passports with this global biometric password, they also say that They will do away with clothes and food and will replace them with processed foods made from insects, GMOs and laboratory-grown meats and everyone will be forced to wear the same clothes and have their names changed they also say that they will install government cameras inside the houses to know if any intruder is entering the empty houses
and all of this will begin the antichrist's rise to power, he will be a powerful leader who will unite all sovereign governments into one government and people will worship him and will implant the mark of the beast, where no one will buy and sell without it and will kill everyone who does not accept the mark, which means that everyone in the cities will die, only those who go to the fields or mountains will survive, it is no wonder that they are asking to stock up on water, non-perishable food, batteries , flashlights, medicines especially ivermectin (so much so that I've seen reports of people curing themselves of COVID using this medicine and chloroquine) and radios to survive between 2025 and 2027, because according to them, there will be a pandemic 30 times more lethal than the previous one that will kill almost 400 million people in just two years and that will be the period where seal the seven-year peace agreement between Christianity, Judaism and Islam and will sacrifice a red heifer in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, where it will be destroyed in sequence to begin the construction of the third temple where the throne of the antichrist will be during the final three and a half years
They also insists that global warming is a lie bc all of these disasters that are happening such as frequent strong earthquakes which happened in turkey, morocco, japan and taiwan recently, floods that left the southern of my country almost destroyed, tornadoes and hurricanes becoming stronger and killing more people and wildfires becoming more frequently is caused by these globalists, for example, the recent wildfires that happened in hawaii, canada and chile was caused by massive lasers coming from satellites and these floods and earthquakes caused by HAARP, and the fact-checking and social media such as reuters and afp is lying bc they are owned by rothschild and george soros for example
And i'm worried to have a cancer or a fatal heart attack when i become 20 years old that they discovered that in the last years have an increase on cases of cancer and fatal heart attack on young people, and they claim that is bc of the vaccines bc they contain aborted fetuses and microchips and graphene
And they also talk about the woke agenda, where defenders of this theory claim that globalists use films, video games and series to misrepresent characters from these entertainment industries to promote progressive agendas such as LGBT, black lives matter, abortion and feminism, for example, they made Ariel from The Little Mermaid black in live-action instead in white, as a way of indoctrinating masses and grooming children to be subjected to being perverse, it's no wonder that Disney is in one of the biggest crises in its history by excessively promoting identity issues in every film they release. And it's also no wonder that the number of abortions in the world increased over the last years
What I am most afraid of is the claim that globalists have knowledge of future events that makes the masses accept the event when a certain thing happens, this is called predictive programming, for example, in many disaster and science fiction films, there is a subliminal message in numbers called ''923'', supporters of this number mean that something very bad will happen on September 23rd, but obviously nothing happens, in White Noise for example, there was a train accident in the state of Ohio and in 2023 a train derailment with toxic products occurred in the same state as the film, Black Mirror ''predicted'' several technological innovations, The Simpsons for example predicted the September 11 attacks and Trump's victory in the elections, The Matrix also predicted predicted several technological innovations, such as the redpill movement and the production of babies in uterine machines. As for the Leave the World Behind', they say that the film predicted the accident of the ship that collided with the bridge in baltimore, Lastly, the film The Knowing is incredibly identical to the plot of the biblical apocalypse, but these claims are already debunked by fact checks
And i became scared of these prophecies that have been ''fulfilled'' such as Ezekiel which mentions that Dead Sea became filled with fishes and signs in the sky and stars disappearing
i will mention some of them:
They discovered recently that the moon have some rust pigments and the sun are frequently producing giant black spots which in apocalypse 6:12-17 means that the sun became black and the moon becoming blood
The days are passing faster, which on matthew 24:22 mentions that unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.
The Euphrates River is drying up which in apocalypse mentions that the sixth angel poured his bowl over the Euphrates River and its waters dried up and released four demons who destroyed half of the population
Some Rivers and seas are becoming red, which refers to Apocalypse 16:4 that the third angel poured his bowl on rivers and seas and became red as dead blood
And I started to think that some mathematical calculations they do are simply not coincidences, they took the year the Black Death ended in 1353 with the year the WHO declared a global COVID emergency in 2019, subtracting those years would give the result in 666 (2019-1353=666 to be simpler) which alludes to the number of the beast and nd other math that they also thinks its a proof that we are at the end of times uf we use the word ''CORONA'' as a code where the alphabet is corresponding to its letter in ascending order (for example a = 1, b = 2), it would give the numbers 3, 15, 18, 15, 14, 1 will also give the number of the beast is correct if we multiply these numbers.
I'm trying to follow channels that disagree that we are in the end times and treat people with love, like the method of preterism where it states that the apocalypse happened in the year 70, but they say that this is heresy because in Matthew 24:24 it says that in the last days false prophets will emerge deceiving many people and in 2 Peter 3:3 where it says that at the end of time many will mock and disagree with the imminent Return of Jesus
i'm asked my parents and my friends to repent of your sins and believe in the Word of God, But I bothered them so much that now they don't even want to hear it,
however after all that, I started to think that these evangelical channels only preach fear in people, thinking that Jesus is going to return physically and that I have been superior all the time for no reason at all. I researched these things so much that now it appears when I search for an account on Instagram or YouTube, I would like to thank anyone who could give me some tips on how to get out of this and get rid of these pests, how i do?

2024.05.20 02:03 sirsmashiedash Gossip and Speculation?

Hi everyone!
I made a post last night indicating I was new here and stumbled across this group when searching for any LP/Thranduil news for 2026. The topics being discussed in here briefly peaked my interest so I decided to stick around for a bit and just do some skimming. If what I've read is correct, it seems LP has yet to discover his true self and adjusts his personality and beliefs according to his social circle at the time, good or bad. If that is true then that is extremely unfortunate as someone who was able to portray a character such as Roy in, "The Fall", could only do so if they possessed a beautiful heart and soul. I'd like to think that side to LP is still in there somewhere laying dormant if it has been hidden away at all.
However, I cant help but wonder how much of what has been said in this subreddit is just purely gossip and speculation or perhaps has been built on an element of truth and heavily embellished to fit one's narrative. None of us actually know LP or his husband at the end of the day so I'm just confused as to why people are so invested in his private life? It was his choice to marry whom he believes is his life partner and now raise a beautiful child with them. I've never heard of MF before and I know nothing about him apart from he works in fashion (and is obviously married to LP). Granted, MF's style has clearly rubbed off onto LP and the observer in me wishes it hadn't because it just doesn't suit LP at all, especially for his age. At the end of the day, it's LP's choice to embrace whomever and whatever he chooses into his life, regardless of what the public may think. He owes us no explanation into his decisions. All he owes anyone really are fantastic performances of roles he chooses to take on for work purposes. Everything else is not of our concern, including his current and previous relationships. In my heart I truly hope he is happy because he, like all of us, deserves a full life that contains endless amounts of love and support. If he has found that, who are we to even question it? If he hasn't, well the choices were his own and now all we can do is hope that he has a network around him who can support him and bring his heart back to where it used to be.
Who knows, if he really has lost his way spiritually as many in this subreddit have suggested, perhaps the power of becoming a parent will help guide him like it did me. I had no idea who I was for the longest time and motherhood just flicked a switch inside me and now I've never been more sure of my purpose, and it's not around my child. My daughter just helped me realise so much about myself and my values in her short 4 years on this earth, she's my muse. If LP is missing that guidance, perhaps his daughter is the one to show him the way.
Anyway, this has become much longer than I anticipated. I just wanted to share a different perspective and it's your choice whether or not to think on it, keep scrolling or come for me in the comments. We all want nothing but the best for LP and his family. No family is perfect and without their hardships. I just truly hope, after reading everything in this group, that LP does in fact have the support he needs from his partner, immediate family and friends while he tries to find the balance between fatherhood and other commitments. It's not an easy road and it takes a village. And if MF is truly becoming an absent father (who actually knows this besides those in the immediate family), then the only person he's hurting is himself. That little girl is going to form bonds with those who make a genuine effort to be present. Speaking from experience here, those immediate family members in my life who didn't make the effort with my daughter she keeps at arms length or doesn't acknowledge. It doesn't affect her, just them.
We all just need to stay in our own lane as best as we can and support each other when it's needed or asked for. Speculation and gossip is poison not only for the person in question but also for the accusers. It eats at your mind and has the power to make one say and do unstable things.
Big love xx

2024.05.20 02:00 ChefNicoletti Deathwatch Station 86 Armor Update

Deathwatch Station 86 Armor Update
Corvus Blackstar, I added the guns on the chin. Not super stoked on how the windscreen looks, but overall pleased with my work here. As one of the deathwatch’s most badass models I really like the look and feel of this bird. The A-10 Valkyrie, super stoked how this turned out after fumbling it the first time, stripping it and starting over. Predator, this one still needs some work but it’s coming along. Didn’t really have much open space for the inquisition insignia. Razorback, this for some reason I love. Idk why it looks kinda goofy but I love it. I like the split I on the door, but I kinda fucked the decal up when I cut it. Repulsor This one was way bigger than I thought it was. So much edge highlighting. I like how much open space it had for the inquisition bling, still lots of cargo details on the sides to finish. Gladiator These primaris tanks have so much edge highlighting, I think the end result looks good but that was not fun to do 5 of these big models back to back. Im pretty stoked to have the armored division not complete, but battle ready. That’s been the past 4 ish months of painting work. I was doing stage batches with all of them so they all pretty much finished around the same time.

2024.05.20 02:00 ThrowRA881144 My boyfriend, M28, and I, F25, have been together for a year now. Would it be reasonable to stay with him or take a break from our relationship as he is reevaluating his view of relationships in general?

My boyfriend, M28, and I, F25, have been dating for a year now. TLDR, currently he is going through some rough times and doesn’t know if he wants to be in a relationship at all. Would it be reasonable to give him some space or stay with him?
For context, we were really good friends for a long time before we started dating. about two years ago year, he developed feelings for me first, but I didn't reciprocate at the time due to my commitment issues. I told him I needed time to figure things out, and he said he’d wait for me. A few months later, I decided to give it a shot, and he turned out to be the most romantic and caring man I've ever known. The first few months of our relationship were amazing.
However, at the end of last year, something happened in his family that made him question his entire worldview and idea of relationships. (His parents’ marriage wasn't as happy as he thought.) Since then, his attitude towards me has changed drastically. It's like a light switch flipped. He’s no longer enthusiastic about spending time together and has expressed a desire to avoid people altogether and just "hibernate."
We’ve had several conversations about it, and he admitted he’s unsure if he wants to be in a relationship at all and doesn't know how he feels about us anymore. He asked for some time to think about it, and it's been a few months since then. Every time we meet, it hurts to see how differently he looks at me now. I don’t feel the love and care that was once there; it feels like we’re just good friends again.
I told him I’d wait for him like he waited for me, but our situations don’t feel the same. I don’t know what to do now. I think I should give him space and take a break from our relationship. But at the same time I feel like I should stay by his side until he figures out what he wants. I love him very much and want to do what’s best for both of us but I don’t know what that is.

I want it to feel dirty and fuckedu p and above all I want to feel wanted in a greasy, dirty way.
i have some audios and videos of me bating my stoned edged cock. longest audios are three hours each, one right after the other. i am a real marathon gooner and i love to get seriously fucked up and even better is when gross daddies watch and encourage me to throw my life away for porn and yucky old man cock! make me praise your gross fetishes, make me beg for daddies cock, brainwash me to think eeeeeverything is hot. Force me to masturbate to gross new ideas and then ban me from touching my cock.

2024.05.20 01:57 Dry-Investment-3697 Is this abuse or am I crazy?

Hi, I’m very new to Reddit and have questions, I’m 16 years old and am having a LOT of trouble with my mom. I had a complicated childhood with her and we never really bonded, she was focussed on working and growing her business (she quit teaching to become a chef) and I was just not what she wanted (I was planned) my dad was my primary caregiver and I adore him. I would get in trouble often for loosing or misplacing things often, one thing I remember clearly when I was 6 or 7 I had an American girl doll, my mom thought I lost it and had yelled at me while I was in the shower, I remember being terrified and shaking, I looked all around the house and still couldn’t find it. So, she threw my doll shoes and clothes at me shouting “why’d I buy you for this, why’d I buy you that” . She left for work and then acted like nothing happened, the doll was at my neighbours house.
The throwing things at me never happened again at that scale, but leaving things around the house when she was in a bad mood would lead them to be thrown at the door and pilled out side my room. I have ADHD so keeping track of things is really difficult and she always gets mad when I borrow something and forget where I put it (I understand that it’s really difficult for some people to not have everything orderly) but I feel like her reactions are always a bit harsh.
Sometimes she’s the best, she’s happy and funny, she tells me how much she loved me, and sometimes she’s mean and the flip can switch as fast as me not remembering to return her eyeliner to the makeup bag THAT WE SHARE. She has now separated all of the makeup leaving her with all the nice makeup and me with the scraps (which is fine, I can make any makeup look good). All she cares about is her self, she’s mean to my dad and doesn’t let him go out with friends and play soccer, I’m allowed to do whatever but she loves to remind us that she does all the work, which is not true, my dad does everything for her and her business. I know she’s unhappy and wishes that she could have been rich and not have to work but she forgets that we are people too.
I love my mom so much but I’m just so tired of silent treatments and being yelled at and then expected for everything to go back to normal after she gets over it. So is it abuse or am I crazy?
Sorry for such a word vomit, I’m just tired and cannot wait to move out.

2024.05.20 01:57 shittakeslut are there any renters rights I should know about?

When I moved into my apartment the dishwasher advertised was broken and full of specs of mold, clearly it stopped running with the last tenant and they never fixed it, a week later maintenance removed it and has not replaced it. I have lived here for over 2 years now, when asked about it they brush it off or say they have other things to worry about. Our AC has been malfunctioning for the last year- and each time we requested maintenance they were very dismissive. The first time it was broke they said "we have actual emergencies we have to deal with first" and never get back to "dealing" with it. Yesterday our thermostat completely shut off (brand new batteries) and our heating kicked on and blew hot air in 90 degrees weather with no way to shut it off. All of the AC units in the complex have been replaced, but ours. It is roach infested and the roach treatment is just a maintenance guy spraying outside pesticide in all of our cabinets. Our in unit fire alarm malfunctioned one day and wouldn't turn off so the landlord himself came in and snipped the wires and left it hanging from our ceiling so now our fire alarm is just completely broken. I feel like this isn't legal but my dad (who helps me pay rent) says we just have move out and we don't have a case. Should we take action? Or just try to silently leave? We can't even save up the money to move since we pay so much for rent and also have to pay a lot on electric and water to wash our dishes by hand and to keep our house cool with how many fans needed because of their negligence...it feels criminal and I hate to know that they own property all over Missouri and Kansas and most likely treat each property just as poorly they are taking advantage of people who just need a place to live...

2024.05.20 01:56 Previous_Towel_5232 29M pretty confused by end of situationship (with F25). Thoughts?

I downloaded Tinder when I moved in the Nordics. In January I matched with this girl. We chatted for a few weeks and we went out two times in February. I wasn't sure at first if I felt attraction, but I really liked her as a person, we discovered we had some past shared traumas that got us closer and I felt I was incredibly at ease with her, as it rarely happens with people I barely know (I am extremely introverted and she didn't believe I was). Both times we stayed together for 7-8 hours and time flew. We didn't talk about our feelings but we agreed on the fact that we had good vibes. Most of all, I innately felt I could trust her. Then I went to my home country, but we stayed in contact. When I came back she texted me that she wanted to clarify that she had decided she had no romantic intentions but it was nothing personal. She had cancelled Tinder and she just wanted to stay single. I told her that if she meant a long-term relationship I wasn't so sure as well and I just wanted to see how things went without pressure.
We met in March, and while we were talking about wine she interrupted me to make a call. Later, she said that she had talked with her best friend "who obviously knew about me". She added that they had both broken up with their boyfriends in summer, and they had felt terribly. Now her friend was hanging out with a single father in his 30s (so I presumed it was quite a serious thing), and since they had been talking for months of going to some wine tasting event she wanted to tell her that they could finally organise that as a double date. I accepted, but I was a little bit taken aback given her previous message. This made me wonder that maybe there were some expectations, and, since I still wasn't sure about my feelings and I knew what kind of frailties she could have, I went into overthinking mode. I wanted to balance my words and, when in doubt, be on the safe side without promising things lightly. I realise this made me seem cold sometimes. When she asked me if I was interested in sharing an apartment (we both live on our own) in the capital (she wants to move there and I often have to commute there) independently from an eventual romantic relationship, I was quite firm in my no. After 8 hours, she asked me if it was time to have sex, but she wanted to discuss if it really made sense and to uncover our intentions. I said that I liked her but the last thing I wanted was to hurt someone so I didn't want to take commitments. I was maybe realising I was growing feelings for her but I didn't say that. She then decided we needed a solemn deal: if the sexual/romantic vibe was not good this would have not been cause of bitterness between us, we had acknowledged that we liked each other as people so much and this had to stay. I agreed and we went to her place.
There we kissed, then she went to her neighbours to ask for tobacco. When she was back she told me that she was sorry but she had decided she didn't feel like it, but it was 5 am and I could stay. She got out of the bathroom naked apart from a tiny slip, and we went to bed. I turned my back on her trying to think about something else and sleep, but she laughed and told me "Well, we can still have some cuddles". One thing leads to another and while we didn't have proper sex we definitely had more than some cuddles. I remember that at a certain time she said "Oh no, this is definitely not going to end well", and the anguish in her voice freaked me out.
The day after, she texted me "I really enjoyed it but I have this persisting feeling that we would be better as friends", she insisted a lot that it wasn't sugarcoating but she was really convinced that we would have been great friends and we both knew that. I asked her to talk about it the next time in person and she agreed. Two days later she texted me that she was just going to a bar for a couple of hours before a meeting, that she was such in a good mood and asked me to join her (this spontaneity from a Scandinavian sounded super weird to me). I couldn’t join her on time and I still regret that. Then I left the town again, but we kept in contact. This was also when I realised that I was missing her and the feelings I had where a little bit deeper than what I had thought at first. At my return, I noticed that something had changed, but she attributed this to her Master's thesis' deadline. A few more days and she ghosted me, then she texted me a week later "sorry, I was busy. But I should also tell you that I have entered a relationship :) :) :)". I replied that I was sure there was something behind her silence and she didn't feel the need to explain further. She didn't owe me anything, but I expected some better communication, especially with all her worries about the possibility to ruin our personal relationship. After ten days with no communications, I texted her that I was a little disappointed 'cause I thought we had a deal. She asked me "what deal?" and I replied "what? were you drunk that night?" (she wasn’t) and she told me "Indeed I was. In fact I don't remember what happened. And honestly I don't want to know" (which was the thing that hurt me the most). I asked her if she had considered that people have feelings and she told she was going to terminate the conversation and she blocked me on WhatsApp.
That's how it ended. Her relationship hurt me, but it was her choice and I certainly couldn't contest that (I regret a lot that I should have been quicker in grasping and communicating my feelings). But the way she handled the thing felt like a treason in human terms to me and made me wonder if everything else she said was false as well. Thoughts? (I’d like to know if the replies come from men or women, sometimes perspectives are different).

2024.05.20 01:56 JaneWilloughby My thoughts on the KEY puzzles

I’ve seen a good amount of discourse on some of the puzzles in KEY, but I wanted to share my thoughts on a few specific puzzles (good and bad) to see if other people shared my struggles/opinions.
  1. The locked book in the cafe - The graphic design for this clue is incredibly flawed in my opinion. Why would you have lines drawn from one point of the compass to a specific number if you didn’t want players to conclude that number is connected to that specific point. (Looking at you, 4). I spent probably two hours on this puzzle thinking I was supposed to count the number of pictures on the wall or plants in a specific corner…not cool.
  2. Coffee making - aside from the wonky mechanics that take some getting used to and the annoying flipping back and forth to different recipes, I didn’t mind this puzzle. I honestly kinda like the fact that the latte art is so frustrating because it has created a hilarious meme for the game that I think every ND game needs. I lowkey feel like HER made it infuriating on purpose for this reason.
  3. The gold artifact in the museum - I feel like this one might be more user error on my end, but I really did not understand that I was supposed to search for Rs around the town, nor did I think I was supposed to click the little button at the bottom to trigger the mechanism. I swear I had the right combination for so long but kept second guessing myself because I assumed it would open on its own.
  4. The trunk in the antique store - I just couldn’t find the little button on the side and it stumped me for a good hour, but I will say once I got it open, the gem sliding puzzle was very fun and a very unique puzzle that I quite enjoyed.
  5. The puppet show - Frustrating, but not enraging like some of the other puzzles. I think some more hints as to what props were needed could have helped a lot without making it too easy.
  6. The jewelry safe - I understand what they were trying to do, and I think it was a very good puzzle, but it definitely needed better guidance from the clues in the store. I don’t know how anyone could have solved this without the strategy guide or hints, but kudos to you if you did.
  7. The dean’s wall - I was so excited when I finally realized this was like the Bento puzzle in SAW and I knew exactly what I supposed to do, only to be incredibly disappointed when I had a correct solution about 3 different times, but it wasn’t the EXACT solution the game would accept. Very defeating.
  8. The alchemy puzzle - I was losing steam at this point so maybe I could have solved this on my own, but I struggled a lot with understanding what the book was trying to tell me and eventually looked up the solution after about 30 minutes. BUT this puzzle was pretty fun once I knew what I needed to do and I really appreciate what they were trying to do.
  9. The riddles in the alchemy book - I really liked the candle puzzle and the moon/knight puzzle, but once I got to the clock puzzle I just threw my hands up and said absolutely not and almost immediately looked up the solution lol
  10. The key weight puzzle - My only complaint about this is that I don’t think it makes logical sense in real life? If you don’t know how much one key weighs, you have no idea what the order would be, right? So if you have to get solution by random guessing until Nancy says “that’s right!” How does Nancy know?
Okay, I think I’ll leave it with those 10 for now, but would really love to know y’all’s thoughts as well!

2024.05.20 01:56 GoblinPunch20xx Re: The Claws of a Bag Lady

Sabertooth is big and strong, has a feral cunning and some actual smarts, his healing factor is either on par with Logan’s or even more powerful (or maybe technically weaker but no adamantium to deal with) So, my question is… (and I am a fan of Sabertooth okay but…) are Creed’s claws actually claws, like a Lion’s claws or a Sabertooth Tiger’s claws? Are his hands and fingers incredibly muscular? Because I’ve seen countless debates about how Logan’s claws would or wouldn’t work or couldn’t actually retract or he couldn’t make a fist or whatever, but what about Creed? Wolverine’s bones are (usually) laced with adamantium and he heals…his (usually) metal retractable claws are roughly about 9-12 inches, depending on where you look and who you ask. So, as much as I am a fan of good old Mr. Happy Birthday, I gotta ask, how does Creed do damage? By breaking bones…? No. It’s tissue damage. He bites and claws and throws Logan around. Remember when Logan had to marry Viper in Madripoor and Sabertooth broke his claws and gored him and threw him off a cliff? That really fucked Logan up because he didn’t have the adamantium. Then there’s the flip side where you get heroic AoA Victor getting gutted and strung up by Genesis taking hits for the team buying them time, and it works because he doesn’t have the adamantium and his healing factor isn’t as strong (writers determine strength for dramatic effect) but yeah I guess I’m having like an existential crisis about the dynamic between Wolverine and Sabertooth and what makes a good story for the two of them, because everything from the Origin comic (not the OriginS movie) to Old Man Logan to the LOGAN film, AoA, and everything AFTER Logan gets his nose back…yep, less adamantium, power creep not as great, the playing field is more even, Creed is able to do more damage to Logan, but even Logan’s bone claws are WAAAAY longer and potentially more durable than what are essentially Victor’s fingernails. Sorry for the rant and ramble, but I’ve been a Wolverine fan for almost 40 years and I have NEVER questioned how dangerous and powerful and scary Victor could be…until now. I think Wolverine might actually NOT be the underdog.

2024.05.20 01:55 PlasticRocketX My Dart rolled out my driveway.

Long story short was enjoying my day off just watching the new ep of kaiju no.8. I hear someone knocking loud and go answer the door to a cop. Apparently somehow my (manual trans) car rolled out the driveway, into traffic and rolled itself back into a pole near my driveway entrance. No one got hurt thankfully and my car didnt get run into somehow. But it did scrape the driver side doors into the light pole and theres a light dent in the drivers door.
I intend to take it to a shop when i get some spare cash and have them find out why the handbrake stopped holding. For the time being i have been making sure to keep it in 1st gear, turn the wheel all the way to the side so it wont roll straight back. I also wonder how much it might be to fix this damage? This really sucks as i have had it 3 months and it looked really clean before for a 10 year old dart.

2024.05.20 01:55 SomewhereOutside7120 The differences between female/ male experiences on BFF

Hi all,
My GF and I both use BFF and I thought to share some contrasts I found interesting in our experience using the app over the last 12 months or so. Just sharing for the sake of sharing if anyone was curious about what the other side looks like. I'm wondering if anyone has found some similarities in theirs?
The male's (my) experience:
  1. Less matches overall. I think men are just less open to the nature of meeting complete strangers in this way and the number of guys on here is much slimmer. In contrast to my GF's experience, I've found that the ghosting (lots of it) is usually in conversation stage. This is strange on it's own. Free flowing conversation will suddenly come to an absolute halt rather than a fizzle out over time. If a meetup in person does happen, it usually results in some sort of friendship even it's very casual.
  2. A lot of gay guys, usually looking for more than friendship. Self explanatory, I would say on average most dudes on the app are gay. Obviously no dramas with that, just personally not the dynamic I am looking for. However, most of them are not looking for friends and 2 dudes have straight up admitted to me they have a conversion fetish. I've made some friends from the app who have had some real horro funny stories.
  3. The artificial nature of the connection. Messaging and trying to find common interests is tough, especially for guys. It's a very un-natural way for guys to make connections, so it can be pretty difficult to keep a chat going. You have to be ready to step out of your comfort zone and be prepared to really "give it a go". Women are way better at forming early connections and bridging gaps in awkwardness in my opinion.
The female's (my GF's) experience:
  1. Many more matches but a LOT of ghosting. She has met many more people IRL than I have, by a substantial factor. However, she might hang out with a girl once or half a dozen times, then they disappear. I think the ghosting or fizzle out rate on the app is probably about the same but women do seem to get more matches.
  2. Lack of effort. Seems to be a common thread from what I have already seen on this subreddit. My GF has said that most girls expect her to do the heavy lifting with conversation. They often don't reciprocate interest or effort in messaging which can be very draining and defeats the purpose. It seems like many girls are on there to cure boredom, get more shiny notifications on their phones or have terrible anxiety and like the idea of it but can't get further than that.
General thoughts:
The app has recently brought out the "Plans" feature which I think is great. It's a great way to break the ice with activity based meetups or navigate the awkwardness of 1:1 meetups. However, it faces a similar problem meetup.com does, the flake out rate. Arguably it is worse. There is no RSVP function, so with events, people have to confirm or pull out in the chat. When someone does pull out in the chat, it is a domino effect and you can watch the entire attendance rate disappear in 20 minutes. It's quite remarkable actually. A mate I met on here calls it the BFF syndrome. I think it's an anxiety thing, and an RSVP function would help. That way people can see who's going from the start ("Are there any other girls going", "safety in numbers" etc). The plans feature could use a bit more serviceability overall.
I've noticed people looking for alternatives to BFF on the subreddit which is interesting. Obviously this is due to how slack people can be on here, the ghosting etc. This is a people problem rather than an issue with the platform. I think at lot people just like the idea of making friends than actually putting themselves out there and being uncomfortable. It is what it is I guess. It's a numbers game, and the more you put out, the more you get back. I guy that I originally found quite weird on a plans meetup turned out to be someone I look forward to seeing. He told me struggles with terrible social anxiety and forces himself to go to meetups, put more interest into other people and generally leave his comfort zone. It's something I have really come to respect and admire about him.
If you've made it this far, sorry for the essay. Keep the faith and good luck!

2024.05.20 01:55 Elhemio Translators of Mandarin, Russian, German, Italian, Portuguese and Greek, how's the demand ? What's your experience ?

Hi guys. I've been trying to research info on the state of those languages in the professional field and while I've found some on how much weight they hold for standard pros, I've had trouble getting any insight when it comes to the translation side.
If any of those languages is part of your working pairs, what's been your experience ? How is the demand, the workflow ? How are the rates ? Do you like working with it ?
I've found some feed-back and infos on Proz that suggest Russian and Portuguese aren't the best when it comes to demand and rates. Mandarin seems to be extremely in demand but not necessarily pleasant to work with. Haven't found much on German, Greek and Italian...

2024.05.20 01:48 bgsunship I just found out my(62F) daughter(44F) Liz is an unfeeling, disrespectful, and self-centered person after a death in my husband's(62M,) family. What should I do? I can't stand her anymore.

My daughter Liz and I have a long history. When she was 15 I was getting divorced, not from her father. This man was very abusive towards me and all my children. He once threatened my life with a firearm, that level of abuse. I had 3 boys with him, and she was their big sister. Well, despite how badly he abused her also, she sided with him and told the court a bunch of very bad lies about me to try to get my boys taken away. Didn't work, and I didn't see her for many years. I always tried to find her, and finally succeeded after I had remarried and had a baby. That was 20 years ago. We reunited as a family. I never confronted her about her behavior because she was so young, and she was loving towards me. She also never apologized, but I let it go. We rebuilt our relationship. There were a few incidents where she displayed huge entitlement and disrespect over the years, but we got through it. I have never confronted her with anything. I try not to fight with people. Fast forward to now. My husband Dave was taking care of his sister with ALS. She suffered for many years. He was her primary caretaker. A few weeks ago she took a turn for the worse. Dave was called night and day by the nursing home. It was a hard time, and I completely forgot one of my son's birthday. I felt bad, so I invited him over one day. He asked if his brother could come too, so I said OK. I wasn't up to hosting a huge event, so it was very low key. Liz got wind of this and sent off an angry, profanity-laced text that she wasn't invited, and how dare I. I didn't see it because SIL passed away, and we were planning her funeral, getting my kids home from college and it was a busy time with lots of messages. I sent many group texts to all my children about SIL's death, when was the visitation, the funeral etc. All my children responded with sympathy except Liz. I tried calling her many times, but no answer. Mother's day came, and I invited all my adult children over. Liz didn't answer when I called several times. I went to send her a text to find out what was up, and I saw her message from before. I responded to tell her that I somehow missed seeing it and was really sorry she felt slighted. I explained it wasn't a big family event, and even apologized for not inviting her when I found out my other son was coming. It was a last-minute thing. I also told her all about how lovely the funeral was and all that. No response. Mother's day comes and no Liz. She did send me a text, but I was pretty upset with her for ignoring SIL's death that I did not respond until the following day. Then she sends another profanity-laced angry message about not being invited for Mother's Day. I simply responded that I was sorry for the miscommunication, but she had been invited. Hey, I can't help it if she doesn't listen to her messages. The next day, another profane, angry text. Dave is really struggling with his sister's death, and we are all grief-stricken. Someone so young was taken from us and suffered horribly for a long time. Liz knew her too. We all live close together, and had a lot of family gatherings over the years. I started getting really upset that she couldn't acknowledge our loss or offer any sympathy. Especially to Dave who has always been kind to her. He's the kind of guy who will help anyone. We are suffering here. I last sent her a message telling her that I can't believe she's still (one month later) attacking me over missing a party when we just lost a family member to a horrible disease. I told her she misjudged the situation with her brother's birthday, and I don't need her permission to invite my son to my house. I explained again about how the (non) event occurred. Asked her why she thinks hurt feelings over missing a party take precedence over a family member's death. I asked her to stop sending profane angry texts and offer us condolences with an apology to Dave for taking so long. I believe this is the first time since she was 15 that I've ever confronted her on anything. She responded with another angry self-righteous message (no profanity at least) I have always forgiven her for her immaturity, but this time it's too much. I see now that she doesn't respect me or care for our family. I think I do not like her anymore. This is not the first time she's behaved like this. I guess since it's such a difficult time, I thought she should put her differences aside temporarily to offer support. I see she will never do that, and I can't think of her as a good person anymore. What should I do? I don't want her kids to feel like they are in the middle, but I don't know how not to. They are 18 and 17 and 9. The older kids come here a lot. Any advice how to handle this where I don't keep being a doormat to her is welcome. Thanks.

2024.05.20 01:47 Competitive_Form8894 Sell car with new or completely shot tires?

Not sure where to ask this question but it really comes down to what gets me the best money in the end, so I figured would try asking here first. We inherited my FILs 2009 Ford Taurus which hasn't moved in 4 years. We got it running with a new battery and then did some basic maintenance on its and its running like new again. Only has 70,000 miles on it to. Only concern I have is that tires are completely dry rotted. I personally wouldn't want to own a car with tires in this shape but I am not sure if I should front the money to replace them, and if so how much do I spend on new ones. Or just sell it as and make it clear new tires will be needed?

2024.05.20 01:47 LadyTrixieRed Mentally exhausted caregiver

I am so tired, mentally and physically. I don't know what to do anymore.
My hubby (60m) was diagnosed with GBM of the left parietal lobe on May 2, 2023. He had surgery on May 4, followed by radiation and chemo. He was doing really well until last month, when he was hospitalized with seizures. Mind you, this was his first setback, 11 months post diagnosis, and it is NOT due to tumor progression.
The seizures really took a lot away from him. His short term memory is gone, and his long term memory is iffy at times. His right side is weak. He has problems discerning reality from dreams at times. He refused to stay in hospital rehab and they discharged him 4 days after he arrived. Regardless of the strain it put on me, he insisted on coming home, and I was tired of arguing with him about it daily, especially after spending a week at his bedside while he was unconscious. He could barely walk, but home he came.
He has gotten stronger over the past month. He pushes himself to walk and do things around the house, even when he shouldn't. His recovery isn't fast enough for him, though. He is convinced that he is slipping. I have told him that maybe he would be further along if he had stayed in rehab, or did any of the things that were recommended by his doctors. But they don't know anything, and neither do I, don't you know?
I understand that he is hurting. I understand that he is ill. I understand that this disease is horrible, and that it will eventually take him. But I can only take so much mollycoddling and feeling sorry for one's self! It's been over a year, and he is STILL HERE! He is functioning. He is SO VERY LUCKY to be alive! I see people in this group who lose loved ones within months or weeks of diagnosis, and my heart breaks for them! His focus is only on what he has lost, and on his impending demise, instead of being thankful for the time with which he has has been blessed.
And that makes me angry. So very angry! If I said this to anyone outside of this group, you lovely people who actually get it because you are going through it on one side or the other, I would get shocked, pearl clutching gasps of horror. "How can you say that about someone with cancer?!" Quite easily, actually. Constantly feeling sorry for himself isn't helping a thing. It's hurting his recovery. I'm of the "just grit your teeth and do what you must" school of thought, which is probably why his attitude annoys me so! I want him to FIGHT, not roll over and give up! If anyone had said "That's it. There's nothing more we can do", I would be so much more understanding. But that isn't so! Make peace then, but not before.
Thanks for letting me vent.

2024.05.20 01:47 kingschwap Depop banned me after they took my money

This past week I sent TWO shoes out through depop shipping. The mail lady took both pairs like it was nothing. Then come the following day the shoes got sent back to my house because shipping label I chose through depop was >2 and the shoes exceeded that. Quickly told the buyer imma take care of that asap and I did!! I appropriated the shipping myself and paid the difference for the label. Told the buyer I just got that out and sent him the tracking via depop messages. WRONG. Because I used depop shipping it technically stated it got redelivered on depops end so what did depop do the following day? THEY REFUNDED THE BUYER AFTER I ALREADY SENT OUT THE SHOES. After I saw the email I instantly blew depop up and the told them what happened and I provided the receipts as well as tracking all the evidence I needed to show and I was demanding a reversal of the refund due to him having both items, depop followed up with “oh we see it got delivered back your house so just repost them and have the buyer rebuy them because it wouldn’t be FAIR if you had both money and shoes” and at this point I flipped and I let loose on depop I was blowing them up telling them how could they do this what were you thinking etc etc depop generically told me to have the buyer repay for them and all will be well or if not to hit them up and I told them that there wasn’t resolution because the buyer was telling me “oh I’ll pay for them when they get here” I was begging and pleading to depop the hours before they got delivered that I was getting scammed and they wouldn’t have it. The shoes got delivered and the kid said he was gonna pay and he actually gave me hope as well until he didn’t, the kid started playing dumb and said “I never got the shoes” but I have him saying “I’ll send in a little bit” I have been going back and forth with this kid as well as depop and depop is giving my me 0 help I’ve contacted them on their socials and was telling them to check my shit but they would send me the automated emails and ignore me but then tell me they weren’t??? Bruh I have had other claims where I email depop they ask for the evidence I send and instantly moneys reversed back with emails and all that so I know how it goes!! I did the exact same thing and depop did nothing but say they’re looking into and that it’s escalated to the proper team, but nothing was changing they were not doing anything for 3 days!! They kept just stringing me a long. On top of that I’m in a message war trying to get my money and this kid is reporting me for but he is scamming me? Depop is taking so long for anything and telling me they don’t like the way they are being spoken to? and I’m going crazy because of how much money it is and how little help depop is giving me, I am literally telling and asking what they’re doing and thinking. I would send one messsge and wait 24 hours for the next. Even now it’s the 4th but now depop has banned me because they “don’t appreciate the way I’ve spoken to them” they have banned with the scammer having my money my shoes and his account in tact. I’m left with no shoes no money and this kid has found my instagram and hes making accounts to troll me and I’m sitting here like WHY WAS I BANNED. They said I’m going to get paid out my money but they told me the balance without the money I’m owed then I told what about that and they said it with a different team being handles??? Why the fuck is it like this why am I not getting answers I know why I was banned I for sure hurt their feelings but why was I banned and not him? I have the screenshots that he acknowledged he recieved and the ones where he retracts and starts saying how he never got them etc. I was relatively new to the game but I just past my 50th sale I had 22 5 star reviews, this kid had half that and when I left review that he was a scammer depop took his side and took that away?! I’m at a loss for words because depop was my side hustle and now I have to find a new one. I don’t fucking understand why they’re doing this I wish I would’ve just had the guy rebuy them instead of me resending them myself thinking I was doing the the good thing. I’m so hurt right now

2024.05.20 01:45 brokenshark007 How do I move on…

I had a very passionate relationship of two years with her. It was organic and we actually loved each other. I could see it in her eyes. We were partners, lovers, best friends. I knew every single thing about her and she knew all about me. Our souls were connected at some point.
She blindsided me hard. Even the day before the break up, she was all over me. Texting me love words the day of the break up. The night came and she ended it because she was not happy anymore.
It has been three months. She took a piece of me that night. I have been to many dates and no one can make me feel the way she made me feel. I was stupidly in love with her.
I loved her to death, we gave each other promises. She wanted to get married, have kids and a family together. We even decided on the names of our kids a month before the break up.
I recently learned that she moved on just in three months… She is sleeping around with people, went to travels with one of the guys she is seeing. I was stupid enough to check her social media after this and saw pictures of her looking happy, and having fun. It shattered my heart. I blocked her everywhere.
We were different, our values did not align so I am grateful that it ended before we started a family. There were times she did not treat me right. I still stuck with her believing that maybe she would change. Again, it was not going to work in the long term since we did not agree in a lot of aspects in life. However, I cannot move on from her. I cannot feel the same emotions to someone else. I do not even want to get intimate with anyone else while she doesn’t have this problem. She is free and of course can do whatever she wants to but it hurts to see the person you thought she loved you just bouncing onto other people this fast, sharing that intimacy and emotions with others. Didn’t she care as much as I cared about what we had? I thought I was special to her.
I want to move on but I miss what we had, I miss her, I miss the feeling of love I had towards her. I don’t remember the last time I actually felt happy, my emotions are numb and all I feel is disappointment and pain every day.
People tell me to move on, but I don’t know how. I wanted my last breath to be with her. She chose to leave, I hated her for long for leaving but now I just feel depressed thinking I’ll never have her by my side again. It hurts deep.
