2024.05.17 13:53 Appropriate_Web_7093 Personal Loan vs. Financing a Bike
Hello.
So I live in the state of FL and plan to get my bike license, gear, and a bike on the road by end of June. I have my class and my gear, now I’m planning where to get my first bikes.
First off, I plan to get used. I currently have a 2016 Scion FRS as my daily, but that’s getting high on miles(112k), and I’d like to keep the miles low till I can get more work done on it. I also plan to used this bike to UberEats/DoorDash/GrubHub etc.
For my first bike, I’d like a 400cc but I only have 2 friends of mine that have been riders for years and they say just get the 600cc. Regardless of cc, my price range/budget is $5k. I think that’s pretty fair.
Now I need help knowing which is my best option for smaller monthly fees, smaller interest rates etc. (Im 27 and seriously hate how school didn’t teach me how this works)
I’m assuming if I got to a dealership to finance, they will probably give me a good bike deal, but I’ll probably eat it when it comes to fees, interest rates, and my credit is good but they’re gonna hit it when calling banks right? I feel like I’d end up paying more than the value, as usual.
As for getting a personal loan from my bank(Bank of America). I assume I come in, give them my bank info, tell them I want a used bike. And they’re probably approve me for the $5k I’m asking for. And with this, they are the only ones who run my credit, and they’ll give me just one interest fee for the loan. And with the loan, I can go to someone on Facebook market selling a bike and say “I have the 5k cash”…and this way. I get the bike, the person has their cash in hand, and I only make one monthly payment to my bank for the personal loan of 5k…right?
Again, I don’t know how banking work but this is how I assume it works.

2024.05.17 13:50 Bikechecklab Hey guys!
Hi, I hope you’re doing well
I’m Chris, and I’m reaching out to fellow cycling enthusiasts about a new project I’m working on.
I’m in the early stages of setting up a website where cyclists can share their experiences, tips, and the stories behind their bikes. Before we launch, I’m looking for early contributors who are excited to share their cycling journey and help shape the community from the ground up.
If you’re interested in being one of the first to feature your bike and your adventures, or if you want to share why cycling is a big part of your life, I’d love to hear from you. Your insights could encourage others to hop on their bikes and join the fun.
Whether you’re into cruising the city streets, tearing up the trails, or just enjoying a leisurely ride through the park, your story is what we’re here for.
Want to get involved? It’s super easy:
Bike Checks: Got a cool ride? Tell us all about it! What makes it special, and where has it taken you?
Rider Stories: What’s your cycling vibe? Share your experiences, your favorite routes, and why you love to pedal.
Feel free to reply to this message, and I’ll keep you posted on our progress and let you know as soon as we’re ready to showcase your contributions.
Thanks for considering being a part of this from the start. Looking forward to possibly collaborating with you!

2024.05.17 13:48 Both_Rich_6271 Family SUV
Hey all! Looking for some advice. Got a baby on the way and the Mrs has a family suv. I am planning to get something more family oriented, currently have just a small commuter (swift). I am really at a loss for what to look for. Looking to spend between 30-40k and used (preferably 4ish years old)
Any advice is appreciated - just super keen to have a car where a child seat will not render the front seat useless 😅😅

2024.05.17 13:46 Matrix1313 A bit of a rant
A few months ago I was sorting out getting a new car. I was quite able to afford every aspect of the cost but I wanted my partner to be involved in the process because I had the idea that I was getting a car for "us", I asked her for 200 pounds to sort out road tax. She however said she didn't have and went on to tell me how she barely had any money for the month and all that. I didn't think much of it at the time because I didn't really need the money. But a month later I see her savings statement during a visa application process and it turns out she has over 8k saved😧. Asked her about it and she had no explanation really and hasn't thought to apologize or even at the least rationalize it . To me that means she either doesn't care or she doesn't see anything wrong and I'm not sure which is worse. Before this I had not really had a need to ask her for any serious "financial assistance". Now for the first time in almost 5 years of our relationship I have serious doubts about our future. She's generally a really amazing person but this has left me wondering. I plan to have another conversation but it's been really difficult to speak to her properly since then.

I’m looking into getting
this kit to motorized a bike. Though I have a few questions about one as follows:
- Is there something wrong with going down hill with a 4 stroke?
- How would engine affect the pedal ability of bike?
- Is the back wheel able to spin freely with engine on bike?
- Can you coast?
- What does the clutch do?
- How would you install rear disc brake and sprocket for engine?

2024.05.17 13:38 TearRepresentative56 I'm a full time trader and this is everything I'm watching and analysing in premarket 17/05 including positioning analysis and updates
ANALYSIS: - CPI update:
- Core CPI came in line with survey, at 0.3%, heading slightly lower in MOM terms vs last month (0.3% vs 0.4% before).
- We can see its a similar scenario as before, with service inflation there, but goods in deflation.
- Significantly, shelter inflation MOM is finally below 0.4%, which was the main headline of the print.
- Following the print, Inflation swaps now price in lower CPI for next month, so traders are more optimistic on inflation to continue lower than they were before, especially as we see oil prices come down this month.
- Market continues to move on the number of rate cuts being priced in for this year. Right now markets continue to price 1 or 2 rate cuts.
- So what does this mean for positioning, as we saw equities push higher?
- Well, as was the case before CPI, we continue to see very bearish positioning on VIX. Traders expect VIX to continue lower, which will increase the liquidity that market makers add. This should support the market higher. nOt much anxiety and fear in the markets.
- Volatility should therefore remain suppressed, for this opex.
- 5300 is the wall to get above, but We see traders buying calls on 5400 now so traders are optimistic in medium term.
- Probably when we look at today, skew is flat, but positioning bullish. We can see choppy day as VIX delta ITM puts are still elevated.
- Sentiment v bullish over next month or more.
- When we look at FX, we see That EURUSD has pared gains, because DXY moved higher. This was mostly because EURUSD had got overbought, and DXY was starting to get short term oversold. When we look at positioning, we see traders still buying calls on 1.09. 1.08 will act as support now.
- GOLD and Silver still see strong positioning, 2400 is wall on Gold. Skew on both gold and silver point higher but seeing low volumes.
- On Oil, traders are looking bullish. The skew points higher, whilst price consolidates. Traders are expecting a bullish breakout soon as seasonal demand tends to pick up in summer. Oil is just currently stuck below 79 on WTI.
- On German market, we see traders still buying calls on 19k but low volumes. Needs v high volume to get to this 19k level. 19k is a massive wall. Today and yesterday, it comes down, but soon it will try to test again. Euro strength will help GER40 go higher.

2024.05.17 13:34 TearRepresentative56 I'm a full time trader and this is everything I'm watching and analysing in premarket 17/05, including positioning analysis and updates post CPI as SPX trades just below 5300

Tradingedge and
swingtrading ANALYSIS:
- CPI update:
DATA LEDE:
- China Industrial production YOY came 6.7% up, vs 5.5% expected
- China Retail sales came 2.3% YOY vs 3.8% expected
- So retail sales came weak, industrial production was strong
- Unemployment rate in China fell to 5% from 5.2%, back to lowest level since November.
- NOTE: China also announced measures from PBOC to support housing market.
- Final revision to inflation rate in Eurozone came in in line with preliminary readings. No change.
- US leading index comes out later, after market opens. Expected to show deteriorating leading economic indicators
MARKETS:
- SPX: Following CPI, we saw markets push from 5246, to close above 5300. Yesterday, we aw market reach 5325, partly as result of softer jobless numbers, which points to more rate cuts, before sell off lower below 5300. Now at 5295. 5300 will be resistance again that it will try to break above.
- Nasdaq: Before CPI was at 18,310 just below resistance, pushed higher to reach 18,650, before coming lower again to 18,555. 18600 is a resistance, before 19k as the key resistance.
- Dow: was trading at 39600 before CPI, pushed higher to 40k. Got rejected below 40k. 40k is key resistance to get above.
- GER40: Pushed higher with US markets to 18,910, close to the key 19k resistance which is v strong, before paring gains back to 18,662.
- UK100 just been flat amongst the highs at 8400-8450
- China50 higher with lower unemployment rate and higher industrial production, trading up by 1.5% to 12,850. Main resistance now is going to be 13k. China also announced measures to support housing market.
- HKG50: Trading at 19,500. Key resistance is 20k.
- OIL: still trading flat, skew pointing higher.
- GOLD trading higher after CPI, bounced close to 2400.
- Price of Copper surges to new highs.

- GBPUSD hit 1.27, before coming down to 1.265 now.
- USDJPY fell from 156 to 153.5, before recovering higher to 156 again now.

2024.05.17 13:34 Salty-Application-63 Please respect my boundaries
I was with this man for seven years. He moved to another state for me we had a child. The four years he lived in Maryland it was constant ups and downs. His words never matched his actions. Until he took my car (I was paying on the entire time) and moved back to his hometown with no notice. I worked nights and we had no sitter so he left me with no car, a big home who I now had to figure out what to do, and no way to work without 24 notice (and now drives is btw). So I do what most moms would do. I bought a car the next day off of a car vending machine, started looking for new jobs and a new place to live. I found a new job after two weeks which WA’s during the day making way better money. I had family and friends come visit moved out of the big home got rid of a ton of stuff and now live in a two bedroom apartment. Since he has left 8 months ago all he has been talking about was what a mistake he made and planned on moving back because his whole life is here. It was already hard to forgive him for putting me in that situation first. But I wanted my family. He would tell me he’s moving back with no action behind it. My intuition started screaming and I started to feel like he’s trying to bread crumb me and I gave up all hope to the relationship I went no contact for a few weeks said his actions don’t match his words then he picks my daughter up to visit his hometown and ask to bring her back early so he can spend the weekend and I can spend my daughters birthday with her… I let him. After he left I got that strong urge again too just be done. The other day I get a ton of text from him saying I’ve always tried to push him away and real love is for him to keep trying and not go anywhere (yet he moved to another state) I told him the trust isn’t there anymore your actions don’t match your words and now your back home and there is absolutely no way I’ll be in a long distance relationship. I asked him for once to please respect my boundaries. I have sad days I have days where I know it’s the right choice but he never respected my boundaries and I would cave and feel like a doormat. I’m at a different place in my life now great job. Just got sole custody back of my oldest. He hasn’t contacted me since I’ve said to him “love isn’t continually saying you love someone and not giving up saying it” those are just words with no action behind it it’s trash. Last two conversations I was not pleasant just angry. Told him love is when you respect someone’s boundaries when you tell them your true feelings. Haven’t talked to him since. Even though I was the dumper I still have good days AB’s bad days because I would have gone above and beyond for him. But I pray he respects them this time because I won’t be the one coming back and if he finally for once listens I can let my heart heal. I don’t even want to look at other men right now I love to hard. I sometimes wish I was one of those people if you can’t get over then get under them but I know that’s a toxic unhealthy habit. My life has been improving vastly since he left. He has a good job making decent money and now this man is broke all the time and has to file bankruptcy while living at his parents driving around my car probably not making payments on that either…. Done with the negative I just want to move on. For once if you truly love me please respect my boundaries.

Tradingedge ANALYSIS: - CPI update:

2024.05.17 13:31 overtooken Mom becoming hostile since I need to borrow her car (18M)
As soon as I turned 16, I bought my own car, and funded my own gas and insurance until about 5 months ago when I crashed it. Ever since then, I’ve needed to borrow my moms car while I try to save for a new car, however, it has been hard to work due to my prioritization of school and my rigorous workload that is just now coming to an end. I put gas in her car regularly, and I use it to pick up my brother all the time which was a huge chore for her before. I give my schedule way in advance for her convenience, and I cancel plans when they interfere with hers. For some reason, she has been getting hostile about me using her car, and sometimes insults me for some reason out of nowhere, calling me a brat, and saying im “mooching” off of her. I tried to explain to her that I’m her son and she hasn’t had to help me for the last 3 years (wasn’t present for a year and a half and the past 2 years I’ve mainly taken care of myself especially in terms of feeding myself. We’ve had a rocky relationship due to her lack of presence, but I have tried to rebuild it multiple times. I am very polite as much as I can be, because I don’t like to argue and would rather just take a silent loss. Last night she came in my room drunk and saying she’s going to hit me because she’s so frustrated that I am using her car. One thing to note is that my grandma randomly promised me she was going to give me her old car during May (around now) but she suddenly switched it and said June.. So I made a few financially irresponsible choices such as buying my mom a violin. I don’t know how to deal with the constant grudge my mom presses against me in frustration of my need to lean on her in a time like this. What do I do.

Please also share thoughts on what add-ons should I go for, extended warranty or any other packages.
