ADHD Medication Refill

2024.04.03 17:59 Tommy_Almighty ADHD Medication Refill

Hey fellow ADHD peeps in the Wilmington, NC, area: have any of ya'll been able to get a generic vyvanse refill in the past couple of weeks? I've been calling around to different pharmacies and none of them have it. Anybody know where they might have it in New Hanover, Pender, or Brunswick?
Update: after calling around to almost 20 pharmacies, I've found a Costco Wholesale store pharmacy in GarneRaleigh, NC, with 30mg generic. I'm in the midst of my final month as a grad student at UNCW and I'm desperate enough to drive 2hrs to get this stuff lmaooo

2024.04.02 02:14 Ok-Journalist1364 Uninsured adhd-ers

For the uninsured, what programs or coupons do you guys use? I quit my job 2 months ago and just ran through my “stock pile”. I did get some generic adderall for about $20 at Costco but for the generic vyvanse (which is always out of stock) is about $150 which I can’t afford. What are you guys doing?

2024.03.27 19:12 GreenApronCoffee Can't find Vyvanse

I've been getting generic Vyvanse from Rite Aid for the past 6 months or so without an issue, but when I went to fill my most recent script they told me that they're out and won't have any for the foreseeable future. I've since called three other Rite Aids, two CVSs, a Medicine Shoppe, and a Costco who are also out.
If you've managed to fill your script in the last week, please let me know where lol
UPDATE: The Costco in Homestead was able to fill it!

2024.03.25 15:35 Frankies131 Trouble getting prescriptions filled? Any solutions?

So, I'm sure this has been talked about a lot on this sub, but essentially, I'm having a lot of trouble getting my medications refilled. I've been on Vyvanse for 5+ years at this point, and ever since the generic version released (sometime last year I think?) I've been unable to fill it reliably. To add fuel to the fire, now that the generic is out, my insurance SIGNIFICANTLY upped the price of name-brand Vyvanse. I waited for 3 weeks for the generic to be filled, to no avail. Now I have to pay 250$ for name brand, and I still have to wait 4-5 days before it's filled.
This last week I met with my primary care doc and explained these issues, so she offered to switch me to Adderall XR, generic. It's been about a week, and it's still out of stock. I use Walgreens because every other pharmacy doesn't auto-fill when they get more in stock. Costco literally told me to my face that I have to call every single day to check if they have stock and if they do, ask for it to be filled. At least with Walgreens, they auto-order and fill from my experience.
Besides just ranting, I guess I'd like to know if there's any end in sight to these shortages, and has anyone had luck with specific meds being in-stock regularly? Hell, I'd even take some tips on how to manage without meds. I just feel so damn hopeless every month when it's time to fill my meds because it's a constant uphill battle with pharmacies, insurance, and communicating back and forth with my doc fast enough to potentially swap pharmacies that has stock. I went about 4 months without medication, and I can safely say performing in my job is extremely hard when I'm off of it, it's like 1000 thoughts are rushing through my head at once, and if I'm trying to work, every other thought will win out, every time.

2024.03.20 23:26 apromiscuouspancake Weird Experience at Costco Pharmacy

I had a bizarre interaction with a pharmacy worker from Costco today, and I’m hoping someone on this sub can offer an explanation. I’m spending the next couple of months in Orange County, CA, so I asked my doctor to send my next Vyvanse refill to a nearby Costco instead of the one I normally use. About an hour after my physician called in the prescription, I received a call from one of Costco's staff asking for an updated address (my address on file was not in Orange County). I gave him my temporary address and asked him whether Vyvanse was in stock at this particular location. Historically, I’ve had no issues calling a pharmacy (Costco or otherwise) about their Vyvanse inventory. But this time the pharmacy worker told me he “couldn’t disclose that information,” but that I’d receive a text when the order was ready for pickup. This is the first time I've had an experience like this.
I'm a little concerned because with the recent med shortage I'll (sometimes) have to call multiple pharmacies before finding one that can fill my order. But if there's a new law or something that prevents pharmacies from disclosing their inventory it's going to make it a lot harder to get meds filled. If anyone has had a similar experience or can offer some explanation, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

2024.03.18 20:49 courtd93 Costco mail order with generic Vyvanse?

I’m in an area where nobody has been able to access generics to Vyvanse for months, and did learn that a Costco out by where my mom lives is very occasionally getting generics so there’s theoretical hope. As I was looking into it because my insurance is treating generic and brand both the same ($360 a month), I started to wonder if people have had luck getting the generics from the mail order pharmacy, as while everywhere has delays on filling and limited amounts, some places are getting trickles versus my area that the spout is off. Has anyone had any luck through that recently?

2024.03.17 13:24 Neeko-Main Where the heck are you guys getting your generic vyvanse filler??

I am having a hell of a time getting my generic vyvanse due to the back order. It sucks because i am a trainwreck without them.
I had some luck at a Fairview hospital pharmacy for a bit but they’ve since run out. Walgreens is a no go and Costco hasn’t been reliable. Any advice is welcome!

2024.03.14 15:06 TopCarry6895 Struggle with protein?

I recently discovered a “hack” on how to get in my protein after my pill.
I am not a morning eater, I actually hate eating in the morning, makes me feel gross but I’m starting to feel the negative effects of not eating or not consuming protein with my Vyvanse and so I knew I had to try to get protein in somehow.
My girlfriend buys the fairlife protein shakes from Costco (Canada, not sure if they have them in the states but any dairy protein shake would work) and I’ve been replacing my milk in my morning coffee with the shake and just slowly adding more as I drink and it’s delicious and game changing, I’m feeling so much better. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.
Anyway, I had to share it incase anyone else struggles with their protein intake in the AM.
Have a good day everyone!

2024.03.07 23:39 compliancecat trying to refill vyvanse

I’m looking for advice but also venting.
As you all know we’re in a med shortage. I’m trying to do my monthly refill at Costco for 30mg of Vyvanse.
Problem 1: They don’t see my prescription so I guess my provider forgot/didn’t send it in when we met yesterday.
Problem 2: Costco doesn’t have generic and only has four pills of brand name left.
Problem 3: I need to find another pharmacy that has it in stock. Pharmacies won’t tell me if it’s in stock without a prescription.
Problem 4: I can’t do a paper prescription - I guess prescriptions have to be electronic unless there’s extenuating circumstances (this situation apparently doesn’t count).
Do I just have to get my provider to keep sending a new prescription to random pharmacies?
This seems like it would be a logistical nightmare for someone without ADHD. I don’t want to have to do this for the rest of my life just to feel a little bit more normal.

2024.03.04 17:44 goopycarbanana Focalin vs Concerta

Hey! Funky question here - I (24F) was on name brand Concerta for the last two years for adhd and ocd, but Cigna switched pharmacy providers and they cancelled my PA. I’m fighting to try and get it back now, but in the meantime I’m stuck in generic Methylphenidate. It’s not working as well since it’s not osmotic like Concerta, and after tt my psych NP, he had me try Focalin since I failed trials of Adderall and Vyvanse due to side effects w my heart.
Bad idea.
I tried the Focalin (20mg as I’m on 54mg ER of Concerta) and it felt like I was straight up dying. It was doing too much and too little all at once. My HR spiked to 186 while walking in Costco, and I had to lay down for a bit in my car. The day before and morning of that event, I felt like I had anxiety creeping in and a small panic attack coming on but I brushed it off. I messaged my NP and told him what was happening and that the next morning I skipped the Focalin and went back to the methylphenidate, and he barely responded. It feels like I’m getting brushed off and I’m so frustrated.
My questions are: has anyone else experienced this? What other medications like Concerta have you tried that worked? Any recommendations or kind words? Thank you in advance, I am so beyond frustrated and feeling overwhelmed and defeated.

2024.02.28 20:47 ChaoticCowboy69 Generic or name brand Vyvanse in stock anywhere right now?

long shot, but figured I'd ask here before giving up. hoping to find 20mg or 30mg somewhere before I run out :) thank you!
EDIT 3/8/24: the only place I've found that has ANY Vyvanse is Costco in Clackamas - they have brand name 30mg Vyvanse in stock, no generic.
EDIT 3/14/24: I've found my dose, 30mg, in stock at the Oregon City Fred Meyer! woohoo!! Rite Aid at 11930 SE Division has 20mg, Rite Aid at 12002 SE Sunnyside has an incoming order for 20 and 30mg that should be available tomorrow, and Rite Aid at 1900 McLaughlin has 20mg and 10mg. I hope this helps anyone else who may be looking!

2024.02.18 23:53 johall Availability in the greater Orlando area?

Anyone having luck with either brand or generic Vyvanse in the Orlando area?
Not sure if it’s my area in Winter Park or the greater metro. But it’s been out of stock with CVS in my zip code since November.
Any luck with Costco versus CVS, Walgreen, etc?
Just trying to find some more experiential evidence for our area specifically.
CVS has had methylphenidate ER 36 but I greatly prefer how I feel on lisdexamfetamine 40. It’s worth paying twice the price to have a better availability to me.

2024.02.17 16:49 Maleficent_Ad_7547 Trouble finding medication

TLDR: Does anyone have tips or tricks of what works for you when the pharmacy doesn’t have your medication in stock? Vitamins? Edibles? Energy drinks?
I have been taking ADHD medication since I was 13. I am struggling so hard right now with finding medication that is in stock. I take the generic of Vyvanse. It is great and does wonders. Right now I am STRUGGLING because no one has it in stock or if I call a different pharmacy to see if they have it they won’t/can’t tell me their inventory. Apparently the doctors office needs to call, but I know they aren’t sitting there calling the 4 different CVS I can go to. My Costco (where I get my prescriptions for free with my insurance) is out until March.
I am going on a week now without my medication. I don’t want to compare it to diabetes, but I need my medication to live and function in everyday life. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have tips or tricks of what works for you in the meantime? Vitamins? Edibles? Energy drinks? I am willing to try anything. I hate this feeling of being helpless because of the shortage and pharmacies not telling me if they have the meds for me to switch my prescription.

2024.02.07 08:33 Ok-Base5376 Does this make binging any better?

I struggle w binge eating disorder and often used vyvanse or adderall from family members (which helped me tremendously) but now I cannot access that anymore and went back to binging. I’ve also found that smoking makes it worse so I stopped smoking for like the week so I can see if I can tackle the binging in my sober state of mind. I was successfully able to do 3 days of it but have relapsed now that my sleeping schedule is back off track. I found that when I slept earlier than 12am it helped me overall but it’s hard for me to always sleep early because i have so much on my plate always. Anyways now it’s around 2 in the morning and I was about to binge in crackers but I chose a healthy bar and only ate half to be calorie conscious then I binged on a big Costco pack of seaweed. My question is does binging on low cal things like seaweed make it any better than binging on junk food or crackers? Also any tips on getting prescribed vyvanse or adderall for binge eating disorder?

2024.02.06 23:03 EngineeringLumpy Is there any way to get my Vyvanse cheaper with Aetna insurance

Last year I paid $30 at Costco pharmacy for name brand vyvanse, even after the generic was released. My insurance is Aetna through Duke university health system and I don’t have a deductible. I went to Costco today to get my firsy rx of 2024 and it cost me $170, the retail price being $800 something. Generic not much cheaper. I used to have a Vyvanse manufacturer coupon that got me considerate amount off but it’s expired and I don’t see anything on the vyvanse website about coupons. Goodrx would require me to not use insurance and to use the base price of $800 some. I really don’t know what to do. I’ve tried so many medications and name brand vyvanse is the only 1 that works for me!! Does anybody know if my prescriber tells the insurance company I need to take name brand, would it be cheaper?

2024.01.24 21:21 Choice-Flan2449 Trying to fill my first prescription - any advice?

Hi everyone :)
I am newly diagnosed and was happy to receive my first prescription (Vyvanse), as I'm hopeful that medication will be something that finally helps me change my life for the better.
I have been reading this sub for a while and am aware of the medication shortages. I am basically required to use CVS for my meds so I had my doctor call the Rx in there. It's back ordered, of course, and they can't tell me when it will be available. Should I just wait?
I saw the advice to call other pharmacies in my area and I did, I spent about 90 minutes on the phone calling other chains, other specific CVS locations, a local (we don't have many), and a hospital pharmacy. Costco was the only one who had anything and it was brand (~$500 which I am not yet desperate enough to pay).
Any advice would be great appreciated.

2024.01.18 18:25 Wonderful-Stage5228 Vyvanse refill nightmare - Md (Howard Co.)

I need to vent. My prescription was ordered at the cvs in Elkridge earlier this month and went straight to delay. I have been picking up my vyvanse prescription at this pharmacy for years with no issue.
This month I called a few times and they said it wasn’t in stock. Fast forward 10 days later! I called around to different Wegmans (thanks to this group I thought Wegmans might have it in stock) and found both generic and name brand, but not much, so the pharmacist told me to get my provider to send it in right away.
My Dr. sent in the prescription an hour or so later. Then I called back to see if they had received it. They did not see it in their system and said the provider would need to send it again.
Odd, I received comfirmation from my Dr that it was sent and Wegmans sent a notification to my phone. Asked dr. to send it again last night. Nothing at the pharmacy. She sent it again today (3rd time) and I called the pharmacy for the 8th time to see if it went through.
Nope, not in their system and no information as to why it wasn’t showing.
The icing on this cake is the pharmacy tech I talked to flippantly called my prescription adderall, I corrected her that it was not adderall and she scoffed at me and said, “it’s basically the same thing… a controlled substance.”
I asked to speak with the pharmacist (again) and finally got the answer as to why the script wasn’t showing.
I don’t live in Howard county.
The Howard county pharmacy board has banned all new controlled prescriptions for those who do not live in that county.
That Wegmans is only 12 miles from my house and I’ve been getting the prescription from Howard county for years (bc I worked there).
It’s rough out there.
Finally found vyvanse in stock at costco.
