2024.05.17 12:55 Conscious_Radio6477 One NZ support is a joke

Hello all,
A while back I called One NZ to sign up to their broadband at my house, I was a mobile customer for about 3 years with them and I figured why not move to them so its all under one house. I called up my existing provider, Slingshot, and told them to cancel my service as I wanted to move to One. I then called One and asked to sign up to their plan, I spoke to someone on the phone and they were somewhat helpful, not really listening to me but I was like what ever and she signed me up for their service and I was like great.
Later that day I got a text from Enable, the people that deal with fibre in Christchurch however I assume its probably for the entire country, anyways, they said that they were sending a person out to my house to hook up my service and I was confused as the lady that I spoke to at One said that I didn't need anyone to come to my house and set anything up as most of their stuff was "plug and play", plus I would consider myself someone that is able to handle setting up broadband. I called up Enable and just asked what was up and they told me that they had ticked a box on their form to say that I didn't have fibre on the property even though I told One that I already had fibre on the property, they told me to call back One and ask them to edit the form to be accurate to the information that I provided to them. I was like okay and so I called back One.
I spoke to a gentleman who didn't have a clue what Enable was and after explaining to him what Enable was he was "reviewing" the form that they put in and said that it was all correct and essentially called me a liar even though I am not sure why Enable would lie about anything to do with that as their job is so simple that I feel like almost anyone could do it. He then said some stuff that was completely unintelligible and asked me to hold the line after he had just pretty much called me a liar so I just told them to forget it and act like I never called them.
Anyways, my question to other New Zealanders is does anyone else have such issues with One that you end up pulling out of their service? After this entire interaction I changed my mobile over to Spark as I literally can't be bothered with them.

Comparing Unbounce Plans

Features Overview

Unbounce offers three main plans: Essential, Premium, and Enterprise. Essential is suitable for starters with basic features like unlimited landing pages and popups. Premium adds A/B testing and dynamic text replacement, ideal for growing businesses. Enterprise caters to large-scale operations with advanced features like audit logs and single sign-on.

Pricing Breakdown

The Essential plan starts at $80 per month when billed annually, while the Premium plan costs $160 per month. For the Enterprise plan, pricing is customized based on specific needs. Each plan comes with a 14-day free trial to test the features before committing.

Changing Plans

Switching between plans is seamless within the Unbounce platform. Users can easily upgrade or downgrade their subscription based on evolving business requirements. This flexibility ensures that businesses can scale their marketing efforts effectively without being locked into a specific plan.

Self-Hosting Options

Unbounce allows users to self-host landing pages on their domain or WordPress website. This feature provides greater control over branding and customization, enhancing the overall user experience. By integrating Unbounce with existing websites, businesses can create a cohesive online presence for their audience.

Additional Costs to Consider

Exceeding Conversion or Traffic Limits

Unbounce pricing plans offer various features and benefits, but exceeding conversion or traffic limits may result in additional costs. When conversions or traffic limits are surpassed, businesses might need to upgrade their plan to accommodate the increased volume. This can lead to unexpected expenses beyond the standard pricing.
Businesses experiencing high conversion rates due to successful marketing campaigns may find themselves facing extra charges if they exceed the predefined limits. Similarly, a sudden surge in website visitors could push them over their traffic limits, prompting the need for a higher-priced plan.
In such scenarios, it's crucial for businesses, especially small ones with limited budgets, to carefully monitor their conversion rates and website traffic. By keeping a close eye on these metrics, they can anticipate when they are approaching their limits and take proactive measures to avoid incurring additional costs.

Legal Consultation for GDPR Compliance

Another factor that businesses should consider when evaluating Unbounce pricing is the potential need for legal consultation regarding GDPR compliance. With data protection regulations becoming increasingly stringent, ensuring compliance with laws like GDPR is essential.
Businesses dealing with customer data and using tools like Unbounce for lead generation should assess whether they need legal guidance to navigate the complexities of data privacy regulations. Failure to comply with GDPR could result in hefty fines, tarnished reputation, and loss of customer trust.

Tips for Choosing the Right Plan

Consider Hosting

When deciding on a plan, evaluate whether Unbounce's hosting services are included or if you need to arrange external hosting.

Publishing Options

Explore the different publishing options offered by each plan to ensure they align with your website's requirements and preferences.

Potential Upgrades

Look into the possibility of upgrading your plan in the future as your business grows to accommodate more features and capabilities.

Managing Subscriptions

To effectively manage your Unbounce subscription, keep track of billing cycles, renewal dates, and any upcoming changes to your selected plan.

Making Plan Changes

Understand the process of making changes to your plan, such as upgrading from a free plan to a paid one or switching between different paid tiers.

Fit for Your Needs

Ensure that the Unbounce plan you choose is a good fit for your specific needs, whether it's building landing pages, tracking campaign performance, or generating leads.

Smart Builder Features

Take advantage of Unbounce's Smart Builder tools that simplify the page creation process and provide valuable insights for optimizing your campaigns.

2024.05.17 12:38 JWEST95ix Can't access web UI - $100 BOUNTY!

I'm on a TrueNas Mini XL and screwed up my network settings, badly.
I will pay a $100+ bounty (BTC/ETH/your preferred crypto) whoever can help me get this working.
I have 3 interfaces: (ix0, ix1, and lo0).
The ix0 and ix1 are built into the mobo and became inoperable after an ethernet power surge last year. My solution was to get a X540-T1 (the lo0 interface). I plugged it in, and for whatever reason the only way I found it to work was using a spare router I had.
When I left for vacation, I unplugged it, forgot how I had it working, and when I came back I tried plugging it into the newer router or my switch, to no avail.
So, I went into the ikvm and started playing around with the "Configure Network Interfaces" option and started screwing everything up.
Here is where I am now:
It tells me the web UI is located at http://192.168.1.56
Across 3 different PC's and my phone, this address just times out (no firewall issues). Further, if I had the NAS connected to router 1, router 2, or my switch -- it is not recognized (I believe because DHCP Is not enabled on the NAS, or something?)
When I started playing around, the "Configure Network Interface" option showed my X540 interface as the third option. But when I went to "Remove current settings?", poof. Now, just the two old interfaces show up in the Configure Network Interface option.
If I go into the Shell and type "ifconfig", the third interface does show up, but does not have a netip. I can set it to something unique, but it doesn't really do anything. I can't access it.
I don't know where to go from here.
If someone can assist me to get this working I will pay $100 even if it's a quick fix.
Thank you

2024.05.17 12:35 bolorok How I won a Careem raffle but never got the prize

I thought long and hard if I should make this post but the story is too bizarre to not share. Let me start with saying that I had lots of bad luck in my life and never won anything ever (except the heart of my beautiful wife).
Imagine my excitement, then, when last Tuesday at 12pm I received a call from Careem that I have won two exclusive tickets to the cinema at the Mall of the Emirates in their raffle that I joined from their app a few weeks ago. The lady on the phone was friendly but had a rather heavy accent, plus I was just on lunch break in a noisy environment, so I told her that I was delighted to receive the prize and to please send me the details to my email address which is also verified in my Careem account, to which she agreed.
I immediately called my wife and told her the happy news. Then I waited, 3 hours, 4 hours, no mail in sight (not even in the spam folder). I called back the number that contacted me earlier and was greeted by Careem customer service. I explained the situation that I still need the details of how and where to redeem my prize, and the friendly but clueless employee told me this must have been a prank call and they never had such a raffle. Of course, this is nonsense, as I definitely signed up for that raffle and they called me from their official phone number with the happy news just 4 hours ago. He told me to write a text message in the Careem app help section instead. So far so weird, but it gets even weirder.
So I wrote them the same day, no reply. Then again the next day, no reply. On the morning of the day I was supposed to redeem my prize, I wrote Careem again, urging them to provide me with the details. Nothing came back, so I thought well maybe I did get something wrong despite all evidence pointing against it, and made other plans for the evening.
Then 5 minutes before the scheduled screening of the movie, the cinema calls and asks where I am, as the movie is supposed to start any minute. I couldn't believe my ears! I explained all the above to the man on the phone and he was perplexed and told me he will need to consult with his team what to do. He never called back nor did he pick up my calls after that. Admittedly, just like me, he probably thought this was all a big fat joke from Careem.
So here I am now, not knowing should I laugh or cry. My wife and I were so excited about spending a wonderful evening at the movies, something we don't usually have the budget for, and now we are left sad, disappointed, and most of all confused. In hindsight, I wish they had never called me about the prize to being with.
So, I don't know, maybe there's a moral to the story about Careem, or I just needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for reading I guess, and hopefully your comments and advice can cheer us up a bit.
TL;DR: We won movie tickets at a Careem raffle, but despite repeated calls and pleas for details, they never told us how to redeem them, and the cinema started the movie without us.

2024.05.17 12:29 thatpaulallen AITA for SHUSHING some kids at the movie theater and nearly fighting their dad?

This happened last Saturday. My buddy and I went to go see the new Planet of the Apes movie at a small, local theater. We sat fairly close to the front. Behind us was a man with 4 or 5 kids ranging in age from elementary school to high school.
When the movie started, the youngest a boy, around 8 or so, started asking questions to his dad. (Who is that? What did they say? Why are they doing that? Etc.) Whatever, not a huge deal.
A few minutes later the boy is clearly bored and takes a little flashlight out and is shining it around. That’s when the family got my first dirty glare.
As the movie went on the talking got worse and worse. This elicited a couple brief shushes from me. Eventually it came to a head when the two girls next to the young boy (they were probably in middle school) were scrolling on a phone and giggling/talking.
Finally I gave them a loud “SHUSH!” They shushed back in the same way and laughed. I shushed them one more time, and Dad launched out of his chair and loomed over me and my friend.
“DON’T YOU FUCKING SHUSH MY KIDS. DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE”
I got up into his face as well. “I wouldn’t have to if you would keep them quiet.”
“DO IT AGAIN. FUCKING SHUSH THEM AGAIN.”
I turned to them. “Shush.”
“TRY IT AGAIN!”
This time I shushed HIM right in his face. It was clear to me the dude was all bark. He eventually sat down but continued to talk shit.
“Do YOU have kids?”
“Nope…”
“Good, never do!”
“…because I might end up with jerks like yours.”
“Fucking queer.”
I turned in my seat. “At least I’m not a bad father.”
“Get a fucking woman, queer.”
I flashed my wedding ring.
“Jesus, do I feel bad for HER!” Etc. etc…. blah blah blah.
He toned down and my friend and I got to finish the movie in peace and quiet. But am I crazy? AITA in this situation? I’d be really curious to hear from parents. What would you do if someone shushed YOUR kids? I know I didn’t handle the situation perfectly, but I’ve been racking my brain about how I could’ve approached it differently so it didn’t escalate like it did.

2024.05.17 12:09 advice-burner-123456 The Woman 10 Years Older then Me I Met On The Internet.

I don't even know how to phrase this post without immediately looking like a victim, but the years of backstory are extremely important so please go into this avoiding the obvious issue as I knew I was in the wrong even as a child and just address the current problem, please.
When I was 12 I met a 22-year-old woman with borderline personality disorder who lives in Asia while scrolling through self-harm hashtags on Instagram. Initially, I lied to her about my age, but this didn't last long as my guilt caused me to tell the truth within a few weeks. She was reasonably upset, she texted my mother, commented under all of my posts how bad of a person I was, and then blocked me on everything.
We didn't talk again until I was 15 when she randomly texted me to ask how I was doing. She had moved to Canada and wanted to meet one day now that she was much closer. Our sweet talks lasted for a month or so until my teenage hormones led me to try and get sexual, which was when our relationship really began.
It started pretty tame just pictures and texts, but I knew what I was doing was wrong, and I felt a bit of power from it. This lasted for a few months until I got a girlfriend, and access to a woman who wasn't through a screen made me abandon her. I really did care for her though, and I knew that if I didn't fully cut connections with her she would never move on. So I sent her some very very mean messages, telling her I was using her and that she meant nothing to me, that she was just a toy and I played her. I truly didn't mean anything I said, i knew it was cruel then, but looking back it was so so much worse than I knew. I completely disregarded her feelings, her mental health, and even her suicidality. Every time I think about it I cringe knowing I'm capable of being so awful to someone I said I love.
That was enough to stop us from talking, over the years my guilt ate at me, I wondered how she was doing, or if she was even still alive. When I was 19 I found her new Instagram and messaged her, my intentions were pure, I just wanted to make sure she was okay.
This lasted for a while, but soon we went back to how we were before, sending each other pictures, always talking about sex, and even having phone sex almost daily. Me being of age emboldened both of us and soon we planned for her to come to America and meet me.
I absolutely love bombed her. I didn't even know what it was until she told me that's what I did, but it's true. I tried to make up for everything I said to her when I was younger by telling her how much I loved her, that I would always be there for her, supporting her in every decision, and even talking to her about a future together. I truly was unfair, I'm not much more mature now it's only been a year but even now I see how many empty promises I made.
This was when I really started to see the effects of her BPD. She seemed so childish, always needing to be doted on, throwing tantrums when she didn't get her way, wanting to talk at literally every hour of the day. She would scream at me if I didn't stay on calls with her while I was at work. This was when I started getting worried too, as if I was being looked at like something that she cultivated. She started to threaten me with suicide a lot. She had talked to me about it long before she started using it as a threat, so it was very hard for me to differentiate at first.
I felt like I made her this way though, the promises I made, the attention I gave, the focus I put on loving her, I set the expectations how could I be upset at her for wanting what I promised? I was so conflicted, I knew I wasn't mature enough for her, but I kept going I couldn't go back now.
Our relationship escalated past 2 people who knew each other on the internet and we felt like a couple, even though I had never met her we treated each other like we had been together for a long time. Since we had known each other she always told me I felt older than I am, and I believed her, but I don't know if that's true anymore.
Recently things have changed a lot, I've been dealing with my own mental health and trying to progress my life, and she has been so so angry at me, every delay of plan or minute I'm not speaking to her she's afraid I'm leaving. I feel so manipulated, but I simultaneously want to give her the benefit of the doubt i truly believe she is a good woman and her BPD just makes her impulsive.
So I guess what I'm here for advice on is what I should do now. Am I being manipulated? Are my fears justified does she look at me like her toy? I just wanted some opinions cause I don't feel like I can talk to anyone in real life about this. I know the obvious issue with our relationship, even if I'm an adult now(currently 20) I still know that feeling will always hang over us. What do I do?
I've never even felt worthy of her, or her forgiveness. I treated her so awfully when I was younger and having these thoughts about her makes me feel so bad already, and as I said earlier I feel like I set these expectations how can I be upset that she wants what was promised to her, I just need an outsider's perspective, please tell me what I should do next.
Edit: Awful grammar.

2024.05.17 12:08 Visionarydelux My 33M Girlfriend 34F is texting male co-worker, should I confront her or? should I confess snooping?

My GF (34) and I (33) have been together for 4 years. We have a son together. I have to highlight how loyal she has always been. She is a big introvert and I have NEVER been having any doubts about, nor have I ever been jealous... until now!About 2 years ago my GF got a new job in a company that has a lot of branches around in other countries. Due to this, she is travelling from time to time (lets say 3 times a year), and I have never had any reasons to be paranoid of insecure about it because of the way she is, she is not keen on the travelling because of the type of a person she is, she is not good at smalltalks or bonding with colleagues or people in general.
About 5 months ago she came to me telling me that her boss wanted her to go to (lets say) Paris for 3 days for a project that she had been working on since starting that new job. I knew she was working with a male co-worker on the project because that has never been a secret, she has always told me he was a very nice guy, very helpful and good at the job, but always assured that he was married with kids, and very not charming or her type at all. However, about 2 weeks before the trip I started noticing that her private phone became a lot more secret, but I wasnt sure if this was just myself telline me this, or if it was actually true because I would never expect something like this from her at all. She has very little friends, and she is barely ever on the phone (unless its family) and certainly not hiding it from me. I let it go until about 3-4 days before the trip. I was lying in bed reading when she got back home late (fitness class), she took her phone and sat on the couch in the living room and suddenly I could hear that she was texting with someone, like a lot (I know because she is one of those people who has the sound on when typing) for a long time (about an hour - 1,5) before I couldnt bare it anymore so I went out and confronted her asking who it was.
She almost jumped out of the couch almost as if I had just busted her in the middle of a murder, confessing that it was him, but that he was just a friend, saying he was not her type, he was married etc etc etc. basically defending herself. I was in shock and kinda blacked out so I dont remember much of that talk / discussion, but shortly after she "had" to urgently go for a shower, funny as she had been home texting with him for more than an hour, but suddenly shower couldnt wait. I was paranoid, insecure and afraid of what was actually going on. I couldnt believe it. next morning during work she wrote to me not to be worried and that it was just nice to have a "friend". I asked her if he was flirting with her, and she told me she did not feel like he was. I did not talk to her for 2 days after that before she came to me one evening saying that she missed me and that she was ready to have a second child with me (Something I have wanted for a very long time so that was a big thing for me) and suddenly everything had changed.
Monday morning she left for Paris and I didnt hear from her ALL day despite the fact that she knew exactly how worried I was. That evening around 8h00!!! pm ish she sent me a text saying she would call in 20 min. More of an "in 20 min, I have a bit of time so be ready!" in a very stressful way. We had a video call for about 20 min and I could sense immediately that she was tipsy if not drunk! and she told me they had just gotten back from work, and that they (according to her, another female colleague, the guy and herself). however, we spoke for about 20 min, she told me she missed me and loved me and it made me feel very good. I slept okay that night.
Next day (last full day in Paris) I didnt hear from her at all again. In fact I texted her during the afternoon that I felt a bit ignored, but again she told me they were busy and that I had nothing to worry about. That evening it was same story. around 8 pm she calls me, I didnt pick up because I was driving, and she asked me when I would be available for a call, again in a very stressful way, so I texted her asking why it was so urgent to which she answered and I quote "We worked so much all day, and I just want to see you because Im so tired I might fall asleep any minute".. AT 8 PM!!! on a business trip... I knew that was bullshit, but I chose to believe it. We had the call as I got home, and after 20 min she says the same, that she had to go to bed because she was so tired, lying on the bed in clothes.!
Next day she had to travel all day back home, this was on valentines day (very ironically), and again I barely heard from her all day. We had agreed long in advance that she would pick up our son and take him home before going to a fitness class (very expensive one that she had paid for in advance). Before arriving home I went for roses since it was valentines day. I got home just in time to see her before her class. She told me she had missed me and that she would never go back to that place, and that she would most probably dump that entire project. She went to her class, but left both her private and her work phone at home. I have never done anything like this before in my life because I had never had reason to do so. But my gut and my intuition told me that something was wrong. I opened the screen on her private phone and could see that she ofcourse had messages from him. I didnt manage to guess her pin code and instead I took her work phone, guessed the code first time and saw the very first message in their chat on Zoom. It was from the night she had told me about the second baby (only 2 nights before the trip) and I quote "Peace has been reinstated at home by a miracle, I will see you Monday"......... My heart pumped harder than ever before and ofcourse it caught my curiosity and I HAD to see more. For weeks, maybe months they had texted nonstop, all day during work via Zoom and evenings and weekends via whatsapp. Now, again my GF is not flirtatious at all so to her defence I would say most of her messages was simple answers which can be interpreted in both ways whereas he was very offensive, at one point very shortly before the trip she even asks him if he is flirting with her to what he is answering "I will let you decide that" and to which she replied "it doesnt bother me at all". I also found out that the night we had a video call when she told me she was too tired, while I was on her screen she had sent him a text sayin "ready to go"
She came home, I confronted her, she begged me to give her another chance assuring me nothing happened physically at all, and that they just had drinks. Next morning we both took off from work. I was exhausted and still in shock. That morning she called in sick, told him that she needed to talk to him in person and they had a call. She told him to stop texting her, and that what they have been doing was wrong and crazy and he agreed, but it didnt stick for long. Only a few days later he sent her messages saying that he missed talking to her and that it was all a misunderstanding, that nothing happened that can be considered cheating etc etc. I know that because she showed it all to me. She didnt reply to his messages.
Its been 4 months now, and I have had some really difficult days with bad thoughts and worries because they still work together which is really hard on me. We still talk about it from time to time when I need to share my worries. She keeps assuring me that they are strictly professional, and that they do not talk about anything but work. They have stopped communicated on whatsapp during evenings or weekends, that I know for sure, but about 1 months ago I felt so insecure that it got me to take her work phone again, and as I wanted to snoop I found that she had changed her pincode again which ofcourse sends me a signal that something is going on (at least in my head). What I CAN see are only the zoom messages on the start screen that he is sending to her (the notifications she is not removing from the start screen), but I cant read the messages she is sending back to him. I check the phone almost every evening since then, and funny enough she ALWAYS without exception has messages from him and it is very rarely something about work, it is not flirtatious either, but it is personal stuff that is not related to work which she promised me they wouldnt. For example her work requires her to work one weekend every 3 months and even saturday 10 pm he asks her if she needs any help and I know that he only does so to start a conversation with her, I mean 10 pm at night on a saturday you sit with your work phone in hand asking your colleagues if they need help?
I almost feel stupid for asking because, especially now that I have been writing it all down and read it through, it seems very obvious to me that I cant trust her, but I would like to hear your take on this. Should I be worried still? Can I trust her, should I leave her?
Should I confront her about the snooping ?

2024.05.17 12:07 Alabamaaaa How to load content on your Apple TV.

I’ve decided to post this since I’ve seen many people don’t know how to do it. This whole text is form a comment I posted on other thread. Forgive my English.
I will try to explain how I did it but have in mind English is not my native language 😅 Ok, at first it’s supposed that you already have downloaded the rom you want and you have it on “Download” tab inside “files” app on your iPhone/iPad. Now open RetroArch on your Apple TV where it’s a pop up that say something like…
“Welcome to RetroArch. To transfer files from your computer, go to one of these addresses on your web browser:”
Then it gives you two site options ( I recommen to take a picture of that screen and save it to your gallery) this way and with the ability of selecting text from a picture, just copy one of those sites (in local) and it open safari, there you need to upload the rom you have on your download tab and put it on the download section of RetroArch. Once you’ve done this, just go to the Apple TV, go to the “Load content” tab and there go to the downloads where the rom should be already visible. Now click on it and then it open the “Load Core” where you need to select the game console emulator of that rom. Hope this can help you 😛

2024.05.17 11:58 KATPHYSH What are the next steps for my crush [F21/NB24]?

PREFACE

BACKSTORY

My breakup with my ex was kind of messy. I instigated it—he violated a few of my boundaries, said things that made me uncomfortable, and I made myself a doormat for him—but I was still polite and tried my best to be very accommodating and gentle with him. His behavior was ultimately cruel to me and he said things that hurt me very much afterwards, but I forgave him. He is currently blocked.
Considering we were all a part of the same friend group (messy, messy) I didn't know what to do at the time; was I supposed to leave everyone that I grew to love and care about? Who knows. I made a separate group chat of people I wanted and called it a day. We've been in the server since the end of March.
My relationship with my crush was intended to stay platonic. I planned on getting over the emotions, coping, and forgetting about it. This all was because I was told 1 (one) time that "flirting is allowed as long as it's platonic" and I took it to heart. I didn't want to ruin my friendship.
However, my vulnerability after the breakup kind of made me... clingier. My crush is highly reserved—very quiet, shy, and oftentimes busy—but I went out of my way to talk to them in DMs and help them open up to me. I wanted to get to know them better, even if underneath it all there was something a bit selfish going on.

CURRENT EVENTS

Nonetheless, I'm absolutely dogshit at staying quiet.
Fairly recently, after literally being sleep deprived, I made a joke in the groupchat and everyone obviously commented on it. My crush was a very 'open secret' type of thing and I got teased for it often for being "(Crush)'s #1 Fan". Anyway, after the joke was made I felt extremely guilty about it because of my own personal shame (I beat myself up often every single time I flirted with them because I was a bit of an idiot) and DMed them an apology.
I then bit the bullet, of course, and said there was a conversation me and them needed to have. My crush—who was equally as sleep deprived—basically called me out on liking them.
We had a bit of a discussion while falling asleep over text, but the feelings were reciprocated! I'm ecstatic. I don't want to compare relationships—that is never the best course of action—however when I think of this versus my ex... With my ex, I was confused, pliant, and easygoing. I didn't feel butterflies, get excited, or start rolling around in my bed and stay up for six more hours cleaning my house because of all the nerves and excitement in my body. With my crush, I feel safe. I feel comfortable. I feel like I can show the worst of myself and even if they were angry with me, they'd somehow make it gentle. I'm not being judged for not being perfect. My crush has seen the worst of me, and doesn't care. God, they said they admire me.

NEXT STEPS

The major issue, frankly, is that even though I am extremely happy that my crush likes me, I am ultimately not in the headspace or correct mentality for a relationship. I have deteriorated and fallen back into bad habits, I have made no personal progress to improving my lifestyle, and I simply don't want to treat my crush like a rebound (even if, for all intents and purposes, it kind of is one).
I don't know when I'll be ready. I don't know if it'll be a month from now, two months, or an entire year. I have no idea what I want.
I live in a very impoverished part of the USA—the lower, southern portion—and my crush lives in Canada. It's silly, but I'm very insecure about being southern and my ex even used to blatantly refuse to visit me because of it. Not only that, but I'm disabled. I have health issues and need physical therapy before I'd be able to get a job and an income to afford anything.
To me, I am not worthy of being loved in the state I am because I can only give words or phone calls. I can't give gifts, my love, or my body. I can't visit them and probably won't be available to for at minimum two years. A lot of my past relationships relied on me being a giver. I'm too used to it. It's selfish to think this way and quite pedantic, but I'm not sure what else to do. I know I need to work on my self worth, and that's my goal too.
Regardless, not the point of the post.
Considering me and my crush reciprocated feelings, both feel that we aren't ready for a relationship, and both don't really have the means to do anything with or for one another, do I still stay? Do I still hope for it? Or do I just acknowledge that we like each other and make no move to build and foster it into something that lasts?
What do we do now that it's in the open?

TL;DR

I have just gotten out a relationship with someone from a mutual friend group as my crush. I have known them for nearly a year, and recently confessed. I am not mentally ready to be in a relationship with them and the distance—given I have no means to actually visit them at all for probably literally two/three years—is daunting. Do I keep fostering this relationship and hope they wait for me? Or do I accept that even though me and my crush like each other, it will probably disappear by the time we're both ready for something?
What do we do now that we know we like each other?

FINAL WORDS

Being brutally honest about my situation like this is a bit embarrassing—I understand how it can paint me in a bad light—however realistically I think it should be addressed and at least... aired out.
I don't want to fuck this up.

2024.05.17 11:55 R2D2N3RD Creepy Ex listened to his teenage son being intimate...can't be legal right?!

My 17 year old asked to go out of town with his partner and her family for a week. I got a call from my ex that he didn't want our son to be given a "Free pass for sex" so didn't want him to go. I said that was silly because they have been dating well over a year they have probably already had sex. His reply, "I know they have" I asked if our son told him that and he responded, "No I was listening in and heard the whole thing" 😳 my ex admitted that he had installed Spyware on our son's phone and he could listen at anytime. I found it incredibly gross that he did that to my son and his girlfriend. She is 18, not sure if that matters legally that she is an adult.
I divorced my ex because he was abusive. He's been arrested for it a few years back. I realized that some of the things he has said to me seem odd like he knows very specific conversations I've had with my kids. I now know it's because he can listen in on their phones. This makes me feel very vulnerable and like I can't be comfortable in my own home.
So my question: is sending "spyware" to someone else's home legal? Is listening to your child have sex illegal or just creepy af?
Edit: I'm in the USA, Missouri

2024.05.17 11:55 Few-Story-9365 Confused?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could provide insight on my situation.
My ex boyfriend and I (26,23) have been together for 2,5 years. We both agreed that the connection was very special from the beginning, I think I could say he was my first "real" love. During this time we had two long-distance periods of 5 months due to me studying abroad. The first one was planned, went just fine and everything was right back after. The second one wasn't planned, but he encouraged me to take the opportunity. It was rough as we were in different time zones, but when I came back everything "clicked" for me again.
Two months after I got back he broke up with me out of the blue, saying that he just doesn't love me anymore and had been feeling that way for a few months already. I understand that our relationship has gotten a bit "stale" due to me being busy studying, but I genuinely felt fulfilled and happy and he never indicated any problems. He said he still wants us to be "best friends" and agreed to go to relationship counseling on "neutral grounds". A week after the breakup he said he was going on a date. I was naturally upset and said I'm still going to get counseling, alone or with him. A day before our first session he came over, said he canceled the date and went with me. For about a month it was going well, then he suddenly said he wanted to date the other girl because he's in love with her and not with me. That was a week ago. They're not even together yet and she's already the wallpaper of his phone, saved as "my eternal love", all the works lol, I suspect it was like that the whole time, although he swears he didn't cheat. It's all so gross, she's like the polar opposite of me, he says "her personality fits him better" and "they share more hobbies and do more stuff".
Obviously I'm heartbroken. I feel like I have made too many mistakes to hope for reconciliation, I should have gone NC from the beginning. It's also very confusing for me, the day after he told me he wanted to be with someone else he came over, cuddled with me all night and then we impulsively slept together in the morning. He's begging me not to move away, texts me every day, and claims he still wants to "do stuff" together. That all makes me feel like he's just in a rebound, but it might just be wishful thinking. I'm still seeing a counselor myself, this has been actually traumatic for me. I have already made the decision to go NC last week and stopped initiating conversation, but he texts me every day (basic low effort stuff like how are you, updates from his day, etc), even a concerned "I haven't heard from you, is everything okay?" What on earth does he want??? Can we reconcile somehow?
This is all so convoluted. I'll be thankful for any supportive words :)

2024.05.17 11:49 dyljeridu We're up to day 4 of waiting for our package by 2nd Day Air....

Has anyone else had this happen? It's taken this package longer to get to us from inside our own city than it did to get from Texas to Michigan...
Driver ran ahead of schedule on the original delivery date, which is fine and happens occasionally so whatever - we came home from work that afternoon to a blank pickup slip with no information on it whatsoever. No notice of which Access Point our item will dropped off at, nothing. I stop by the shipping center that normally handles our stuff that same afternoon and I'm told that I can't get my package from the driver (he's still in the parking lot at this point) and will have to wait until the next day. Again, whatever.
Next day comes, and still no delivery. My wife made a visit to the Access Point and the employee (third party shipping partner) said that the driver had already been there that day to drop off the previous day's missed deliveries. Several boxes, none of them ours, and tracking still reads that it's out for delivery by end of day. We then spend the entire afternoon on the phone trying to get ahold of an actual person to figure out why the driver never handed our item off. We were assured that "your item will be delivered to the Access Point by 7pm there's evening. I've called and spoken with both the driver of your truck and my manager to confirm this." It's now 7:30, our package has been scanned to an unknown local location (presumably the local hub), and our drop off point closed at 6pm. Beyond livid at this point.
As of this morning (5/17) we're stuck at another "Departed from facility" tag from 9pm last night and unsure of whether we're actually going to receive a rather expensive package that should have been here two days ago..
TLDR - Spent entirely too much money for an item and shipping and got nothing but literal hours of run around from "customer service". Is someone trying to steal my package or are they seriously just that incompetent?

2024.05.17 11:43 mtufekyapan New Visitor Conversion Rate: How to Increase It?

I checked the Google Analytics data of more than 300 Shopify stores, and all of them had one thing in common: the conversion rate for new visitors was lower than the conversion rate for returning visitorsI checked the Google Analytics data of more than 300 Shopify stores, and all of them had one thing in common: the conversion rate for new visitors was lower than the conversion rate for returning visitors.
This is completely understandable, but there are strategies you can use to increase your new visitor conversion rate.
In this article, I’ll explain why the conversion rate for new visitors is lower than for returning visitors, what you can do to improve it, and how to increase your conversions and sales over time.

Why is the conversion rate for new visitors lower?

Let’s remember what conversion is. Conversion is when someone says “I want to have this product, right now!”
There are two critical parts to conversion:
  1. I want to have this product. How do you measure this part? Very simple.Check your bounce rates and add-to-cart events. If people aren’t leaving your store as soon as they land and some of them are adding at least one product to their cart, then you’re doing a great job.Your store looks great, you have great products, and you’re managing to get highly interested traffic into your store.
  2. Right now. If people are browsing your store and adding products to their carts, but most of the time they leave without buying, then you need to figure out why they’re not saying “I want to have this product, right now!”
This is the part that makes people convert.

Create urgency to increase new visitor conversion rate

Now, let’s think about ourselves. We visit a local store, see a great product, and like it. But if we don’t need it urgently, we can wait, right?
This is a very common human behavior. We tend to postpone our decisions because it’s easier.
Creating urgency is a proven strategy because of this human behavior. If you can create urgency properly, you can trigger your visitors to try your products now, right away.
There are three important elements to creating urgency properly:

How to increase new visitor conversion rate on Shopify

Growth Suite offers a great solution for creating urgency without being fake. It’s a great way to increase conversions and new visitor conversion rate.
Growth Suite analyzes your visitors’ buying intention and segments them based on it as hot, warm, and cold. This is very important because it prevents you from overusing discounts.
So, what’s the difference?

What you shouldn’t do

I’ve mentioned what to do up to this point. There are a lot of quick-fix hacks out there that promise to increase your conversions with fake messages.
I highly recommend not using these things, such as “38 people looking at this product, 15 bought in the last hour.” Most of the time, people won’t believe they’re real. If you don’t believe me, just show these messages to your friends and ask what they think about them.
Second, when these things don’t work properly (which they usually don’t), they create a sense of dishonesty between your brand and your visitors. This can become a real issue for your long-term success.

Conclusion

By following the tips in this article, you can increase your new visitor conversion rate and boost your Shopify sales. Remember to focus on creating urgency. And avoid using fake messages and other tactics that can damage your brand reputation.

2024.05.17 11:38 WindowsXPxyz Homeless because of lying girl. Where's my justice at INDY!?

Summary of Domestic Violence lies
My gf of 1.5 yr whom I referred to as my wife has lied to police about Domestic violence and had me arrested multiple times and is now throwing my stuff out/ selling it/ destroying it / converting it.
There is no contact order and she filed a restraining order with hearing coming up soon
I had to take a plea deal to get out of jail so how do I sue her if I plead guilty to some fucking lies 😪😪😪
i want to sue her for ruining many incomes I had, emotional turmoil for having another man immediately in my home and bed and making me experience these events, and physical harm from having to live homeless with extreme fibromyalgia pain with no property or access to my finances. I have to prove that she is mentally unwell and how she caused equal if not more damage to the property. She cuts herself since 12 years old and then makes me look like the aggressor when I have to be worried about her and keep checking on her because she’s hurt her self before via pills or cuttingand hitting things in an emotional stupor to the point where her hands are numb and bruised. fetalpositioning in the bathroom for hours for example. She does that so often and puts me in a strange position to where I can’t feel comfortable with her being alone. We could be out doing laundry or grocery shopping and she’s so quick to jump out the car as if I’m threatening her and I’m put in a position where all I want is for her to just get in and we can go home and be calm. She’s fetal positioned in the snow, mid drive and laid there in the snow where any nearby residents can easily call 911 and I’d be getting arrested there for no reason as well. She incomplete called 911 at least 4 times during our relationship. She has zero initiative or perception of building a life. She’s quit jobs for no reason at all, missed days and blamed me for that. She would skip work whenever she felt like and even quit jobs for no reason like Walmart for example. June 20 - August 9 2023 When I went to Dominican Republic for an emergency trip to get help with my fibromyalgia, she felt the need to quit her job then as well with little regard for the financial situation, she had a guy come over then as well at least 3 times. She was going to strip clubs doing who knows what while I was away and aware that she was out to such venues. Upon my arrival, I was forced to lose my crypto investment valued at $4000.00 approximately to keep us from eviction which would now be worth about $15,000.00 and was once valued at over $70,000.00. She had little regard for the things I was doing to build a life. Clearly she was not on a progressing mindset with me. She spoke to me about having my children and marriage because we loved each other whole heartedly but then lies to the state of IN and states what we were simply dating or have dated when we had a very serious, intimate, sexual relationship that I 1000% was intent on creating a life for us. I should have seen the red flags 🚩. I have been taken for granted and my life and liberties are not to be infringed upon like this. She lied to police and now I have a record and have to refund $1000+ from my Etsy business. Not only that but she has all my property meaning I cannot sign into my email and do very basic things such as access to my debit card balance or logging into anything at all . She has access to my personal phone and laptop, and has probably tampered with critical evidence that I need to prove that I am not abusing that woman. She has destroyed some or all of my property by throwing it outside for anyone to steal or whether to destroy. I have at least $4000.00 worth of property in the house that she may or may not have destroyed. A no contact order does not give the “victim” the right to convert / destroy or sell my belongings. If she was so “terrified” of me, she would not have paid over $2000.00 to bail me out when she had me tased and arrested in January 2024. Only to cry wolf again 2 more times in April 2024. I need Justice and I need it Now. You think you’re on the same page as someone, building a life with them, and they disregard your entire life as if it means nothing. She has trauma from her past but putting me in jail and ruining my life was nowhere near necessary. I was saving my money to move into my own place when she got me arrested. I never intentionally hurt her, only restrained her or even self defense after taking more than 10 hits from her. Please help.

2024.05.17 11:37 aggrievedaadvark Anyone else feel like they’re made to feel they’re wasting time when trying to see a doctor about periods?

I had an awful period this last 9 days it’s been stopping and starting, large clots and whatnot. I was worried, so like the nhs website suggests I phoned to talk to my gp to make sure something isn’t wrong. The appointment was over the phone and over in 3 minutes. He made me feel really small, melodramatic and like I was wasting time, told me it will just be hormones and to phone back if it happened next time.
It has restarted again after stopping for 3 days and I’ve started to get symptoms of anaemia, so I’ve phoned up to see if I could request a blood test. Receptionist automatically gets shitty and all “well why didn’t you mention this to your gp” explained how he made me feel melodramatic and she sighs at me in a roll your eyes kinda way and says “ohhhkayyy then, I guess I’ll see if you can talk to another doctor as that is meant to be your doctor”
Like wtf? I have a sneaky suspicion it’s to do with my previous issues with anxiety and worrying about my health, but I very very rarely visit the doctors for the past 5 years and only go if it’s necessary. I have genuinely had fatigue for a while but just assumed it could be seasonal depression etc and didn’t really click until someone asked if I was okay as I’m pale and I started to get short of breath and dizzy any time I bend over .
I just feel disheartened by the whole experience and like I don’t even want to talk to a gpnow as there’s already this premise that I’m making it up? Thats genuinely how the receptionist made me feel! Surely women should understand how overlooked these issues can be with male doctors who don’t experience these things first hand? The same doctor that told me I was fine and worrying about nothing while I had a hole in the stomach from medication he shouldn’t have prescribed me!

2024.05.17 11:34 GiveMeYuna New IT policies block an entire College from teaching.

This is a bit of a preamble but it will explain a lot.
To begin with, I was not part of the IT Department, AKA the college Tech Support Department. However, what they did affected the entire college.
The IT Department is the one that maintains every computer in the College from the Headmaster, to the Library and courses etc.
This was back in early 2000s in the UK. How the College computers worked was that apart from the Windows Operating System, all other software is installed on the servers. Each person was given a college account where you have a set list of permissions for one software or another. Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Corel Paint Shop Pro, Quickbooks and many others.
If you’re on one course like Physical Education, then you don’t need access to Paint Shop Pro or Quickbooks, so when you log into your account, you don’t see the programs on your account.
With this sort of thing, whenever you log into your account, it takes a few minutes to load into the desktop. Then a further few minutes to load whatever program you want as it buffers from the servers.
I was a student on a year long (9 month split into 3 terms of 3 months) studying a BTEC in Computing. This means my account needed access to various programs like a full Office Suite. Website Creation Program (MS Frontpage I think it was) and several other programs. I think there were like 7 different programs we used throughout the year.
The first term went by smoothly. Then we we left for end of term holiday (which was something like a week off College) only to return for the second term and find something wrong.
We got into the class and logged into our accounts. As the computers spent the usual 3 minutes to login the teacher started giving out information on what we’ll be doing.
However, once we turned to our computers to start working away, we found that we didn’t have access to the required programs. Heck, we didn’t have access to the programs that we used for the last term.
We pointed this out to the teacher who went round the computers only to agree that we couldn’t get on with the lesson.
He went to his office only to find that one of his colleagues was on the phone trying to get through to the IT Department. I say trying as the line was constantly busy. The teacher kept hanging up and retrying.
Our teacher returned to our class and told us that he needs to go to the IT Department to find out what is happening. In the mean time that seeing as we still have internet access, he’ll give us a task to keep us busy.
As we didn’t have access to MS Word, we were to use Windows Notepad or Wordpad for this. We were to do research and pick out parts to build computers. Budget, Mid-Range and High-End.
We were to list components with prices etc.
He then left us alone with this task.
About 45 minutes later he returned, looking frustrated.
He propped himself against his desk and called for our attention.
He explained what had happened.
During the end of term holiday, the IT Department changed their policies on student access without discussing with the teachers. Apparently the IT courses were not a victim of this. Every student across every course run by the College was affected.
What was the policy change?
Every teacher needed to submit a list of their students and what programs is required for their course before each term. When end of term holidays comes around, access to the previous terms programs ends.
With this change, students couldn’t do anything until the teachers made the submissions for access.
When he reached the IT Department Offices, there were many teachers lined up to find out what is happening. After talking to the IT Department and basically being fobbed off, the teachers have decided that they’ll make the submissions for access, but also file a complaint against the department.
By the end of the week, before the teacher gave us our lesson work, he held up a printed email which he read to us.
Basically, the Head Office saw the complaints and because this affected a huge chunk of the College, even the Headmaster got involved.
Basically the following happened.
It was discovered the Policy changes were made without even the Head Office knowing about it.
The Head of the IT Department was called into the Headmaster’s Office to explain why the changes were made etc.
They were told to revert the Policies back to how they were but they had deleted the old Policies. So they need to rebuild the Policies to how they were for each course.
The Teachers need to submit course information for their students etc.
The teacher even pointed out in the email which was sent to every member of staff as an apology was signed by the Headmaster himself. Not his receptionist or someone else on his behalf.
The Headmaster said in the email “The Policies were not broken. They should never have been fixed. For many years, the Policies have barely changed and only when technology and/or lessons change to remove something or add something. All Teachers, please show this email to your students and pass on my apologies.”
It took another week for the IT Department to rebuild permissions for most courses. It was courses like the IT Course that I was on that required tweaking on the go. When access to a certain program was required, the Teachers would notify the IT Department and it would be solved. All we had to do was log out of our accounts and re-login to refresh the permissions.
