2024.05.18 22:03 According_Sundae_917 How is the beef covered on TikTok by Gen Z or younger? Are kids embracing it, do they understand it? Jumping on it as a trend?

I’m sure older rap fans are posting about it but i wonder how the teen-early 20s TikTok generation reacted to it?

2024.05.18 21:21 CHITOWNBROWN1400 We need Much More of this...

https://youtu.be/qXirMSMT5J4?si=GuDUGAkTG2sWJrF6
We need Much More of stuff like this... This is the type of stuff that gets us respect, us doing something mainstream and doing it well. This is what Americans consider cool: Rapping, playing sports, etc... The former NFL player Robert Griffin III shared it on his Facebook page cause he liked it, and asked who these guys were, and the comments were filled with a lot of praise for this guy- people liked the beat, flow, etc... I already know the lyrics aren't promoting anything good, but who cares. It's a positive social media video that isn't some dirty ass street food vendor and people all bashing India in the comments. Watch this video and share it around, we need to see more and more of this kind of thing.

2024.05.18 20:38 Wrong_Raspberry4493 I’m looking for transcriptions of Pigs raps - do those exist anywhere online?

So I’ve been writing a novel for quite a while now and wanted to incorporate some of Pigpens long raps into it. I’ve done the work of transcribing a few but it’s very tedious work, plus I want to compare a lot of them to find the perfect one. Any songs will do, but the ones I’ve looked at are Lovelight, good lovin, and caution.
Anybody know where I can find text versions of his raps? It would sure save me a ton of time. Plus, I’ve you have any recommendations for particularly good lyrical improv, please let me know show recs. Thank you!

2024.05.18 20:34 WurlizterEPiano Why is the N word becoming normalized and is it going to get worse from this point in forward?

I have a feeling rap lyrics have an involvement, but the word is absolutely terrible. I think many young kids don’t know the context that word used to be used in and it slowly is becoming a part of their vocabulary, I’ve heard it and seen it… I don’t entirely know why though

2024.05.18 20:01 Dramatic-Director766 Opportunity: Free Beat!

Hey Everyone, I'm trying to diversify the music I make as a young producer. I always like rock music and pop punk and that was the music I always wanted to create. But that being said its like a canon event for rock and rap fans to switch genres. I want to try make a beat for a rapper to rap over. The conditions are below:
*Completely Free, No strings attached- I'm a college level student so I'm not expecting money- just bars and feedback on what you want on the track;
*Your Preferred BPM and Key to rap ovein;
*Theme or backstory, happy or sad- is there an experience you had you want me ti try recapture;
*If the beat I make is ass my bad just let me know what you want changed😂;
*This might seem mad, but i will take a maximum of three months to make as I have a full time job. But I can promise that the one person who i make a beat for I will send you demos to prepare lyrics for;
*Preffered song length, and requested instruments;
*Finally, if you release it on spotify or soundcloud i won't add a producer tag and ruin the beat. But please just credit my account or word of mouth as I might do more of these during the summer when I have free time.
Thanks ya'll!
P.S: let me know if your interested in the comments.

2024.05.18 19:59 StaticOTI The Guess Who ~ Running Back Thru Canada Live in Winnipeg

The Guess Who - Running Back Thru Canada Live in Winnipeg June 30, 2000 Canwest Global Park Winnipeg MB CA *** Enjoy the full concert FREE @ https://bit.ly/guesswhorunningbackthrucanada *** A Hometown Throwdown Live in the Heart of the Nation by R. Dale Roth 2024-05-18
At the end of June in the summer of 2000, Canadian rock royalty, The Guess Who, stopped Running Back Thru Canada smack dab in the middle of the nation, just long enough to unleash a massive sonic super storm on the band's hometown of Winnipeg.
Under a prairie sky ablaze with the setting sun, Winnipeg's favorite sons, The Guess Who, returned to the heart of their homeland for a concert that resonated with the pride and passion of a nation. Canwest Global Park, a baseball diamond transformed into a rock 'n' roll cathedral, became the epicenter of a musical pilgrimage for fans who had followed the band's journey from local heroes to international icons.
The air crackled with anticipation as the stadium lights illuminated the stage, revealing a backdrop steeped in history: vintage amps that had witnessed countless jam sessions, a drum kit weathered by years on the road, and an unmistakable sense of homecoming. The crowd, a sea of red and white, erupted in a chorus of cheers as the band emerged, their faces beaming with the joy of playing for their hometown faithful.
From the opening chords, it was clear that this was no ordinary concert. It was a communion between a band and its people, a celebration of shared memories and a testament to the enduring power of music to connect and inspire. Burton Cummings, his voice as strong and soulful as ever, poured his heart into every lyric, his every gesture a tribute to the city that had nurtured his talent.
Original guitarist Randy Bachman, a hometown hero in his own right, unleashed a torrent of electrifying riffs, his fingers dancing across the fretboard with the ease and confidence of a seasoned veteran. The rhythm section, a well-oiled machine, provided the driving beat that propelled the music forward, while the keyboards added a touch of psychedelic magic.
As the night unfolded, The Guess Who revisited their greatest hits, each song a cherished memory brought to life. The crowd sang along with every word, their voices blending in a harmonious chorus that echoed throughout the stadium. Cummings, visibly moved by the outpouring of affection, shared anecdotes and reflections on his lifelong love affair with Winnipeg, his words resonating with the deep sense of belonging that permeated the atmosphere.
The stage setup, while simple, was imbued with a sense of history and authenticity. The lighting, a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns, transformed the stage into a living canvas, enhancing the emotional impact of each song. The sound, crisp and powerful, ensured that every note reached every corner of the stadium, creating an immersive experience that transcended the physical space.
As the concert reached its crescendo, The Guess Who unleashed a barrage of their most beloved anthems, the crowd responding with an outpouring of unbridled enthusiasm. The final encore, a heartfelt rendition of a song that has become synonymous with Canadian identity, brought tears to many eyes, a testament to the power of music to evoke deep emotions and forge lasting bonds.
The Guess Who's homecoming concert was more than just a performance; it was a celebration of the unbreakable ties that bind a band to its roots, a reminder that home is where the heart is, and that the music born from that connection has the power to transcend time and touch the souls of generations to come.
Song by song:
1. "Runnin' Back To Saskatoon": The opening chords of this prairie anthem resonated with the crowd, setting the tone for a night of hometown pride and musical nostalgia. Cummings' vocals, infused with a sense of longing and belonging, captured the essence of the Canadian experience.
2. "Rain Dance": The band's signature blend of rock and psychedelia was on full display in this swirling, hypnotic number. Bachman's guitar work, a blend of bluesy riffs and soaring solos, transported the audience to another dimension.
3. "Glamour Boy": This hard-rocking track showcased the band's raw energy and rebellious spirit. Cummings' snarling vocals and Bachman's blistering guitar solos ignited the crowd, sparking a wave of headbanging and fist-pumping.
4. "These Eyes": One of the band's most beloved ballads, this song evoked a bittersweet sense of longing and regret. Cummings' emotive vocals, accompanied by a delicate piano melody, touched the hearts of everyone in the stadium.
5. "Lookin' Out for #1": This self-affirming anthem, with its driving rhythm and catchy chorus, had the crowd singing along at the top of their lungs. The song's message of self-reliance and determination resonated with the independent spirit of the Canadian people.
6. "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature": This medley of two classic hits showcased the band's versatility, seamlessly blending hard rock with acoustic folk. Cummings' dynamic vocals and Bachman's intricate guitar work kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
7. "Let It Ride": This bluesy rocker, with its swaggering groove and suggestive lyrics, injected a dose of raw sensuality into the set. Cummings' playful vocals and Bachman's searing guitar solos fueled the crowd's passion.
8. "Undun": This haunting ballad, with its melancholic melody and poetic lyrics, showcased the band's introspective side. Cummings' plaintive vocals, backed by a sparse arrangement, created a moment of quiet reflection.
9. "American Woman": The band's most iconic anthem, this song exploded with an energy that shook the stadium to its foundations. Cummings' defiant vocals and Bachman's iconic riff ignited a frenzy of national pride.
10. "Albert Flasher": This quirky, tongue-in-cheek number, with its playful lyrics and infectious rhythm, brought a smile to everyone's face. Cummings' mischievous vocals and the band's lighthearted performance created a moment of pure fun.
11. "Takin' Care of Business": This high-octane rocker, with its driving beat and motivational lyrics, had the crowd on their feet and singing along. The song's message of hard work and perseverance resonated with the Canadian work ethic.
12. "Laughing": This introspective ballad, with its melancholic melody and poignant lyrics, explored the darker side of human emotions. Cummings' vulnerable vocals and the band's understated performance created a moment of shared empathy.
13. "Bus Rider": This funky, groove-laden track, with its catchy chorus and danceable rhythm, injected a dose of soulful energy into the set. Cummings' playful vocals and the band's tight interplay had the crowd moving to the beat.
14. "No Time": This hard-rocking anthem, with its driving rhythm and rebellious lyrics, unleashed a wave of raw energy. Cummings' powerful vocals and Bachman's blistering guitar solos ignited the crowd's passion.
15. "Share The Land": The concert culminated with this iconic anthem, a rallying cry for unity and compassion. Cummings' heartfelt vocals and the band's soaring performance brought the crowd together in a shared moment of national pride.

2024.05.18 19:10 bigglassbulb should they blow it all up?

tek leaving is tragic, but honestly, it's been a long time coming. shed theory went on one of the most insane runs i've ever seen from late 2021-mid 2023 but since, it's just been nonstop drama. in the past five months they've beefed w/ their own fans over promo, been reduced to a punchline bc of a beef with a much more normie-friendly underground rapper (even if they seem to be winning the beef), played a "sold out" show at webster hall to abt 20 people (and became a twitter meme bc of it), couldn't sell out a $1 show in NYC, nextel had some weird ass allegations that i dont even remember, alienating their best internal producer (eliproper), there's prob other things i'm forgetting.
a lot of ppl are celebrating tek leaving bc they were fans of tek but, for moral/political rzns, refused to listen to him after he joined shed. i cant imagine thinking like that, but so many potential fans do. how many members actually need to be weighed down by the sam hyde thing at this point? it will always follow joeyy & facy (& probably laker) but marlon/woody/tek have so much potential to prosper if they weren't extremely unbookable/uncoverable due to the association. i saw on here that woody said he has never even met sam hyde. but it doesn't matter. if you've ever seen them at a festival/opening for another artist, you know how strange the vibe gets when they come on stage, how tense the crowd becomes. i hate to say this, but sometimes it's minstrel vibes. at the tek show in march, once shed showed up (including dugan wearing a durag) ppl started dipping. the music is so good but, let's be real, the vibes r treacherous. it is so hard to put ppl on for that rzn.
i was watching facy's live one day and he was saying how he never has gotten booked for a show. he makes no money off this shit. he has 8k monthly listeners. he sells features for like $50. i have been obsessively following music for 15 years and I am telling you it is so rare to stumble upon someone as talented as him, let alone someone with such a small following. i have never seen someone so committed to their craft churn out extremely catchy and consistent albums and see less success than your friend attempting to kickstart his local indie rock band. how can a group have at least five generational talents in it (marlon/joeyy/facy/woody/tek), hundreds of incredible songs, and be so washed? you go to their shows and see facy play like three songs, woody play three songs, marlon play four songs, and then have henry mosto grabbing the mic out of everyone's hands like he's doing karaoke at his birthday for the whole set. imagine a full woody set. imagine if facy toured night school, which is legitimately one of the most potent albums i have ever heard. it will never happen. there r too many members to keep happy. the budget is spread way too thin.
obviously nextel is a big part of the problem. if they fired him that would be great. but is it that simple? after all that's gone down, how has he not been fired yet? what is he doing for shed that they couldn't do for themselves? booking tours? lyrical lemonade connection? phreshboyswag collabs? i dont think they need nextel for that. it's more likely that nextel is savvy enough to figure out how to sink his teeth in and has made it impossible to get rid of him. yeat had to pay him 100 bands to dip. where the fuck are shed gonna get 100 bands from? i know they have trust funds but like...if i was their dad i would not throw down for that. plus, yeat had other places to go. no way zack bia signs shed (thank god)
i'm starting to think they should blow it all up. they should keep collaborating but each of them should focus on building something fresh. they shouldn't feel obligated to play shows where everyone cedes the floor to the less talented members. they shouldn't be relegated to joeyy's shadow or tied to nextel's antics. that way ppl will appreciate their golden era for what it is, they will build an unimpeachable legacy once new generations figure out how forward-thinking their music is bc, in like ten years, the political landscape in which they existed will be irrelevant, and that is the main thing bringing them down. otherwise it will just get more embarrassing, their legacy will get more tainted, the vibes will get more sour, and it will get harder to be a fan.
maybe i'm tripping idk. tek shit make me sad.

2024.05.18 18:46 Memeulous-short Hot take about Eminem

If eminem wasn’t white, he would’ve never reached the heights he did. without being a figure head for “real rap, not that mumble crap” from conservative white people, his music would have been seen as just another edgy artists. i’m not saying he’s a horrible artist, but he wasn’t even saying anything that crazy compared to a lot of other artists like Public Enemy. his lyricism was less deep than a lot of people at the times, let alone compared to the likes of artists like Kendrick Lamar now. he never had any serious beefs, with his biggest diss being on another white rapper (a great diss tho don’t get me wrong.) i feel that due to the lack of white rappers, he was there in the right place at the right time. don’t attack me for an opinion, if you want to talk about it keep it respectful.

2024.05.18 18:35 Appropriate-Carry-78 Getting Involved in the Hip-Hop scene as a White Girl from the Suburbs

Hello, as the title states I’m a 20-year old white woman who grew up in the suburbs. And since my youth I’ve been obsessed with rap music. I’ve grown up listening to 90s rap and early 2000s and some of my favorite artists are Eazy-E, 50 cent, Kid Cudi & Kanye. I even make my own beats inspired by an experimental style, and have wrote poetry with lyrical rhyme schemes since I was 12. I’m looking to get into the hip-hop scene and make friends, and there’s a Cypher free styling group near me I’m looking to join. But I guess im afraid of not being welcomed/accepted or seen as a phony or not belonging, due to my gender, race, and where I was raised. I feel the cards are stacked against me, and it’s difficult to integrate. I would never rap about a life I’ve never lived, or try to be hard when I am well aware I’m not.
I guess I just don’t know what to do.

2024.05.18 18:08 Technical-Republic18 Need more stayed gone

Looking to see if anyone can point me in the right direction, but there's something about stayed gone that I just can't put my finger on.
It's the charismatic not-quite singing, but rhythmic rapping over the jazz. I don't quite know how to describe it, or how to put it into search terms to find more. I'm especially referring to the second section of the music, after the slow bit at the start, where Vox begins the broadcast, and he goes off frantic and mayhem-like.
It's a rap battle, but not quite "rap". It reminds me of Hamilton, but the entire style and the way they perform the lyrics is different somehow. The most comparable bit of hamilton is in non-stop, where Aaron burr just starts rambling sorta out of the songs rhythm but still keeps in time, as he's marvelling at Hamiltons accomplishments, or the almost rap-battle style conversation they have about the constitition. Though, this song comes off as way more fluid and conversational than in Hamilton, which has tighter rhythms and attention (don't get me wrong, I love Hamilton, but it's different somehow to this) So it's like rap but not.
It also reminds me of the kind of arrogant (in a good way) American Big band personalities, with a very blatant American accent (again in a good way) as they tell a story, or engage the audience, or read out soloists names. Where it isn't quite singing, not quite rapping, and fairly detached from the music beneath it. But the music doesn't stop, and it isn't silence. The band keeps going doing their own thing, while the "personality" rambles.
Other examples that give me similar vibes are the musicals Hairspray (or mamma Mia, but that's much less jazz...and also less good imo) For example, in the song welcome to the 60's, the music quietens down for a moment while they negotiate a deal, and then comes back in. The deal happens over the music, not quite detached, but still doing its own thing.
Honestly, the best comparison I can draw for the kinda thing I'm after is the Mr hippo speeches from fnaf ultimate. Imagine if Mr Hippo were a character in a musical, and was performing one of his death speeches quickly over a big band.
Kinda like spoken poetry ig + lots of background music.
Can anyone direct me towards this oddly specific type of music? I wanna listen to much more of it (I'm also working on my own album — just a teenager so just having fun messing around on musescore and my keyboard — and I REALLY wanna harness this kinda spoken rap poetry big band personality mesh into it) Defo could've just said "anyone got more music like this" but I wanna try to be specific about what aspect of the music I'm looking for — I've got tonnes of jazz I listen to but it doesn't quite scratch the itch this song does. So does anyone have any cool songs or albums specifically in this style I've (tried to 💀) convey here?
Mega thanks in advance.

2024.05.18 16:21 Klutzy-Recording8 AI is transforming music production in various innovative ways.

AI is transforming music production in various innovative ways. Here are some key applications:
  1. Composition and Songwriting: AI algorithms, such as OpenAI's MuseNet and Google's Magenta, are capable of composing music in a variety of styles. They analyze vast amounts of music to learn patterns and generate new pieces that mimic specific genres, artists, or moods. These tools assist composers by providing inspiration or creating entire compositions from scratch.
  2. Sound Design and Synthesis: AI-powered tools help in creating unique sounds and synthesizing new audio effects. For instance, tools like NSynth from Google use neural networks to combine sounds from different instruments to create entirely new ones. AI can also automate the tedious process of sound design, offering producers a broader palette of sonic possibilities.
  3. Mixing and Mastering: AI-driven platforms like LANDR and iZotope's Ozone use machine learning to analyze tracks and apply professional-quality mixing and mastering adjustments. These tools assess elements such as EQ, compression, and stereo imaging, offering both automated solutions and suggestions for manual tweaks.
  4. Music Recommendation and Personalization: AI is extensively used in music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. Algorithms analyze listener preferences and behaviors to recommend songs, create personalized playlists, and discover new artists. These systems enhance the user experience by curating content that aligns with individual tastes.
  5. Voice and Instrument Recognition: AI technologies can isolate and identify individual instruments and vocals within a track. Tools like Spleeter by Deezer leverage deep learning to separate audio sources, allowing producers to remix or analyze music more effectively.
  6. Interactive Music Creation: AI enables the development of interactive music systems where users can influence the music in real-time. Applications like Amper Music allow users to input certain parameters or themes, and the AI generates music that adapts to these inputs, making music creation accessible to non-musicians.
  7. Lyric Generation and Analysis: AI models like OpenAI's GPT series can generate lyrics by analyzing existing lyrics and understanding linguistic patterns. These tools help songwriters by providing lyrical content, suggesting rhymes, or even generating complete verses based on a theme or style.
  8. Performance Enhancement: AI aids in live performances by enabling real-time audio processing and effects application. AI-driven systems can adjust sound levels, enhance audio clarity, and even provide real-time feedback to performers on aspects like pitch and tempo.
  9. Music Education: AI-powered applications like Yousician offer interactive learning experiences for musicians. These tools use AI to provide instant feedback on playing techniques, helping learners improve their skills more efficiently.
  10. Emotion and Sentiment Analysis: AI can analyze the emotional content of music, enabling producers to understand how different elements of a track influence listeners' emotions. This analysis helps in creating music that evokes specific emotional responses.
In summary, AI is revolutionizing music production by enhancing creativity, streamlining processes, and offering new ways for both professionals and amateurs to engage with music.

2024.05.18 16:14 parispai The Plight of Toomaj Salehi: A Zoroastrian Examination Through the Lens of the Gathas

The impending execution of Toomaj Salehi, a renowned Iranian rapper, casts a long shadow on the Zoroastrian community in Iran. Salehi's music, a potent critique of social ills and a call for justice, resonates deeply with Zoroastrian ideals enshrined within the Gathas, the core hymns of Zoroastrianism. This essay will analyze the situation through a Zoroastrian lens, drawing parallels between Salehi's message and the Gathic principles of Asha (Truth) and Vohu Manah (Good Mind).
The Gathas emphasize Asha, the cosmic principle of truth, order, and righteousness. Yasna 43.3 proclaims, "asha is the foundation of the good," highlighting its centrality to moral existence. Salehi's music embodies this principle. He doesn't shy away from exposing social injustices – economic disparity, political repression, and the marginalization of women – mirroring the Gathic emphasis on confronting untruth and striving for a just society. His lyrics advocate for a collective stand for Asha, a world where truth prevails.
Furthermore, Salehi champions Vohu Manah, the concept of Good Mind, which represents wisdom, righteousness, and progressive societal progress. Yasna 31.8 states, "Through Vohu Manah may we think aright." Salehi's music, devoid of violence, urges critical thinking and awareness – qualities central to Vohu Manah. He doesn't merely criticize; he inspires his listeners to envision a better future, a reflection of the Gathic ideal of societal progress guided by good thoughts and righteous actions.
The Zoroastrian concept of Druj, the Lie, serves as a stark counterpoint to Salehi's message. The Iranian regime, with its suppression of dissent and disregard for due process, embodies Druj. Salehi's execution, based on fabricated charges and a sham trial, exemplifies the triumph of Druj over Asha. This terrifies the regime, for as Yasna 48.2 proclaims, "Druj shall perish when Asha arises." Salehi's music represents the rising tide of Asha, threatening to expose the regime's foundation built on lies and fear.
However, the Zoroastrian worldview emphasizes perseverance in the face of adversity. The Yasna depicts a constant struggle between Asha and Druj. Salehi's unwavering voice, even on the brink of execution, exemplifies this spirit. His music serves as a rallying cry for Zoroastrians and all Iranians yearning for a society rooted in Asha and Vohu Manah.
The international community must take heed. Salehi's plight is not just a singular case; it is a fight for the very soul of Iran. By pressuring the Iranian regime and advocating for a fair trial, the world can uphold the Zoroastrian ideals of truth and justice that Salehi so valiantly embodies. In doing so, we honor the spirit of the Gathas and ensure that Salehi's voice, a beacon of Asha, continues to inspire future generations.

2024.05.18 14:18 Otherwise_Penalty644 What is Art?

It’s the “extends” your not keeping. It’s the lyrics your not writing. It’s the tracks your not sharing. It’s knowing that one part could be better and being okay with it. If it took 100 generations to make the song. That’s roughly 60 minutes of music no one will hear. Leave it on the table, under the table or just burn the table down.
Keep creating! Keep moving!
