Can I play Melee online?
Yes! Slippi is a branch of the Dolphin emulator that will allow you to play online, either with your friends or with matchmaking. Go to https://slippi.gg to get it.
Netplay is hard! Is there a place for me to find new players?
Yes. Melee Newbie Netplay is a discord server specifically for new players. It also has tournaments based on how long you've been playing, free coaching, and other stuff. If you're a bit more experienced but still want a discord server for players around your level, we recommend the Melee Online discord.
How can I set up Unclepunch's Training Mode?
First download it here. Then extract everything in the folder and follow the instructions in the README file. You'll need to bring a valid Melee ISO (NTSC 1.02)

DALL-E Weather Dashboard
I have a small display in a high traffic area of my house, running on an old RPi that I use for an HA kiosk. Every two hours, an automation takes the upcoming weather forecast info along with an input-text entity that provides the "subject" of a photo, then imagines that subject in a comically exaggerated way as they do some weather-relevant activity. Uses OpenAI conversation to first use GPT to generate the actual prompt to pass to DALL-E, then sends that prompt, thereby avoiding DALL-E adding numbers to the image.
Enjoy this one, with the subject: "an anthropomorphic axolotl"
I personally use the built in moon integration, along with a REST sensor to pull the forecast text from NOAA:

well that was krazy HAHA. ik many people here showcase ivies and T20s and im not that remarkable with my t40s to t100s but i'd like to think its not that shabby for an unknown international from a third world country. my biggest regret is not applying for NYU, its my dream school but again considering my depressive episode from November to January I wasnt able to file my application on time. its a miracle that universities still accept late applications and im grateful for all that I have and received. If i could turn back time I wish I was a little bit stronger and more stable to have been able to apply for NYU, my common app essay about my favorite author was actually an alumni from NYU :")
but we carry the burdens of choice under the merits of luck; even with merit scholarships, I cant afford any of the international schools I was accepted to. more likely i'll have to attend the top university in my country. but i dont want to give up man i'll still try to appeal for financial aid and if that wont work I'll apply for transfer during my sophomore year to ivies and top LACs that give full financial aid to international transfers. the odds are low but never 0 and no harm in trying !! see you all again next year for my transfer results :]

My parents (45M, 38F) have never had a good relationship for as long as I’ve been able to remember. They both had a toxicity that boiled over and burned everyone around them (aka, me - 16, my older sister - 20 and my little brother - 11). Me and my older sister would always get the brunt of everything, and we got hurt a lot, but my brother didn’t (he only got shouted at) because he was just a baby and he had difficulties so the school’s he went to would have a close eye on him anyways.
The only reason i’m asking if i’m TA is because i’m beside myself right now. I don’t know what to do and I need advice and I’m scared I may have started the end of my family.
Just before christmas, on the second to last week of term before winter break, i refused to go into school. The only reason being was I was in a difficult situation with a couple friends and I felt i had no one, I was alone and i hated that so i didn’t want to face anyone at school incase i broke down. My dad had come into my room, telling me to get up for school, get ready and he’ll take me. An hour goes by, and I hadn’t moved from my spot in my bed. My dad comes back into my room, and says ‘you need to go to school’ and such things like that. I didn’t say anything to him, all i did was groan (like when you don’t wanna hear it or don’t wanna do smth).
flash forward about midday, my mum comes screaming and shouting into my room, telling me all these horrible things and that i needed to go to school or she’d ‘make me pay for it’. I immediately thought it meant she was going to hurt me, so i thought i’d stand up for myself and tell her ‘what? you gonna beat me because i can’t stand going to school?’.
Half an hour later, and with no one saying anything else, i heard my mum on the phone (she’s really loud - she like raises her voice down the phone unconsciously so i heard every word) but then I heard these exact words: “(dad’s name) told me she refused to get up this morning and that i fcking knew about her not going in”.
I jumped up and raced down the stairs and started screaming that i didn’t say that because my mum was threatening to ground me and ‘make me pay for it’ - which actually meant chores but i liked chores to a certain extent. My dad had lied to her to make me look me once again, like a couple years ago when I caught him cheating on my mum when messages from a random woman on facebook would ping on his screen (he cheated on her 24 times since they’ve been married, also cheated on her a couple days before their wedding day and even fcked an old woman, like an OLD OLD woman).
My dad seemed to like the chaos because he always was the root of it. Whenever my older sister and mum were on good terms, he would go whispering into my mum’s ears saying my sister said this and she said that and so on. The same went for when myself and my mum were getting along. He had lied to my mum once again about me and it ended up backfiring mostly on me.
I told my mum what really happened and she confront my dad, who was sat on the sofa watching tv, and he fought back saying ‘she said it, she said it, i’m not lying! why would i lie?’ but when my mum refused to back down, he stood up and squared his shoulder and went to leave the front room, where myself and my mum were stood, which freaked me out because he clenched his fists and my mum saw it and she hugged me, saying go upstairs because he said he wasn’t going to be spoken to like this. (he also once got told by his sister that he shouldn’t be dictated by a child - ME, his first biological child - when all i was trying to do was talk about how i felt with his drinking because it was really bad.
Because of this, he left and he showed up on christmas and spent time with us, but kept getting agitated with my little brother because he kept asking questions and kept talking about his new plane game for his ps5 (my brother was recently diagnosed with ashbergers (however you spell it, it’s on the spectrum) and ticks that could develop into tourette’s). two days later, he left and i didn’t see him for about two months.
during those two months, i was conflicted because he’s my dad and i don’t want him to leave but he didn’t reach out, and i was tired of trying to reach him for the last sixteen years of my life so i didn’t bother. whenever i tried to spend time with him on my own as father-daughter, he would ignore it until my mum forced us to watch a documentary together (it was a murder documentary because we both like the genre) and it was so awkward, i wanted the ground to swallow me whole.
i didn’t see him until he came to pick my brother up for plans they made with one another because he messaged my brother first, which hurt but i couldn’t say anything because i felt i caused the whole mess of him leaving. we didn’t talk and i told my nan (we were living at hers because my mum filed charges of DV against my dad, which he didn’t and shouldn’t have needed to know - a lot more had happened because of him, but he was a veteran so his abuse was ‘excused’ and no one said anything despite us asking for help, especially from my dad’s side of the family) that i didn’t want to see him ever again.
i did see him again, only a couple times though because i felt really bad and i wanted him to be better (from the drinking) so i went with it and spent time with him, thinking it would help but it didn’t. he’s gotten to point he physically shakes because he hadn’t had a drink that day, and his face was all red whenever we saw him. he was also denying all the abuse and harm that he caused when we were younger.
It was only recently that everything has sunk in properly. i’m 16 and doing my final exams and i have a life that i need to start leading soon, and that’s terrifying. i’m moving across the country after waiting since early january, but my dad isn’t coming and he recently told me that he’s getting a place of his own soon (he’s in a temporary hostel) and invited me to go over whenever i wanted to because he would be working and it would just be sitting there empty. i told him i might, but i’m moving on the 15th of June and i don’t even know when i’m coming to visit my sister and my nan and my nieces let alone him, especially since my mum told me to cut all contact with him.
the thing with my mum is she found herself a new man from tiktok because she’s in an “agency”, and he’s a bit of character, in all honestly. my mum had always needed a man in her life and she’s had multiple boyfriends when she and my dad would split for months at a time. the only reason we’re moving the area we are is because that man is there, and she’s lost two of the babies she could have had with him.
i’m so lost and i don’t know what to do.
my dad still drinks and he basically lives at the pub that’s across the road from where he lives at the moment, and i don’t want to watch him drink himself into an early grave.
and i believed my mum was influenced to move to where we are going because of this new man, who she’s now not with because he’s also controlling and doesn’t trust her.
do i cut all contact with my dad just because my mum doesn’t want me to or because she’s trying to protect me? i’ve just gotten him to open up to me as a dad for the first time ever and i don’t know what to do. i know he was a bad dad, and he can only love one person at a time, but am i in the wrong for wanting my dad to finally see me as a daughter?
and should i really move because my mum wants to? does it sound that it’s gone too far?
AITA for wanting my parents to get along for the sake of me and my little brother, or is that asking too much?

Now she is threatening to file false cases of rape and she is threatening him on daily basis also telling him that she will implicate his family too. Note: she have had past history of posting obsene content of her intimate moments with her ex bf on his Instagram. Her threats revolve around - I will get you beaten, will shame you and your family and file case of rape against him.

2024.05.19 03:24 NiceMayDay Kamui Fujiwara says they're preparing to revisit Terranigma's world

Kamui Fujiwara, the art designer for Terranigma, recently shared the superimposed world maps of Dragon Quest 3 and Terranigma on X (link), which are both based on Earth, and then said that they are now starting preparations to invite everyone to journey to these two worlds (link). Fujiwara has been vocal in wanting to rerelease or remake Terranigma, so the wording might hint that he has finally been successful in working with Square Enix to do so.
Since he compared Terranigma to Dragon Quest 3, which has an HD-2D remake in the works, some on X took this to mean that a Terranigma HD-2D remake could happen in the future. However, Fujiwara's post comes shortly after Square Enix announced it would be more selective in its HD projects, so it could just be that Terranigma might get a less financially risky rerelease and Fujiwara simply compared it to Dragon Quest 3 because he has worked for the art of both games (adjacently in the case of Dragon Quest 3, he only worked for its Emblem of Roto manga adaptation) and they have similar world maps.
Fujiwara had also said in the past that apparently Terranigma couldn't be rereleased or remade because its main designer and Quintet founder, Tomoyoshi Miyazaki, couldn't be located (he was arrested in 2011/2012 and has kept a low profile since then), so that's another hurdle that would have to be cleared and might make a rerelease more likely than a remake. More radically, this could also mean that they might work on a spiritual successor that takes place in the same world, but won't need Miyazaki's involvement to be released.
No matter what Fujiwara's words end up meaning, it's still a very good news that he says he is preparing to let players revisit the world of Terranigma, so I wanted to share them with this community all the same.

2024.05.19 03:20 N0thingIs0 I'm trying to switch to Linux, but I'm getting lost on which Distro is the best for me and I'm considering just going back to Windows.

For context, I've tried to switch to Linux a few times by now, but i'd defnitely still call myself a noob and sorely lacking in experience with Linux (or coding for that matter). I've tried Ubuntu one or two times, then I briefly used Linux Mint, and now I'm on Debian 12 and I feel like giving up again and switching to Windows (Although I have been considering switching to Alpine only because I have a goblin in my head that cares WAY too much about optimization and efficiency so when it sees low minimum requirements it goes ooga booga install. So I guess that's another question I have: based on what I'm going to do on Linux, is Alpine a viable or good option?).
To clarify, what I plan to use Linux for is mainly for casual things along with programming. Stuff like web browsing and viewing media files, gaming (specifically a mix of old and modern games, along with some more obscure stuff like BYOND), writing and creating documents, learning game development to make my own game (I plan on working solo with the engine being Godot), and learning how to code. I would also prefer the distro to be lightweight as my desktop computer is on the very low end.
My issues, I'm assuming, are fairly standard and common: difficulty getting things properly installed, having things just straight up not work, and just generally being lost and not being able to figure out how to resolve any of this on my own. And so, I'm starting to wonder whether I'm just being a fucking idiot or it's just that the distro I'm on isn't best for what I need.
As for what I'm working with, I have two computers: a laptop and a desktop, both of which I'd like to switch to Linux for. My desktop computer is the Lenovo ThinkCentre E73 Mini Tower, a 2013 pre-built desktop computer meant for business (yes, it's a hand-me-down, it's been used and abused for quite a few years now, and it's still the one I mainly use nowadays). Here are it's specs:
CPU Intel Core i5-4570S CPU @ 2.90GHz x 4 Memory 3.6 GiB GPU Mesa Intel HD Graphics 4600 (1.5 GiB)
As for my laptop, it's an ASUS X580VD (and it's also an old laptop and a hand-me-down). Here are it's specs:
Processor Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80Ghz GeForce GTX 1050 Installed RAM 16.0 GB
So essentially, I'm asking for some guidance on whether the distro I'm using is suited for what I want to do and I just have fuckall for brains, or it isn't and I should change to a different distro.
EDIT: I should also note that on Debian 12 I've been getting freezes on my desktop computer when I'm running a lot of things (like for example having a lot of tabs while running a retro game and Discord) and it takes half to a full hour for my PC to unfreeze, something which has never happened to me on Windows.
ANOTHER EDIT: If you're wondering why I'm asking about Alpine so much, it's so that I can get the goblin inside my head to shut up.

2024.05.19 01:31 CannoBalllZ Crashing Problem

This is going to be a bit of a long post so please bear with me.
I started crashing on intense games like D2, the finals, overwatch, ARK, etc a few months ago
I didn't care much because I don't game heavily as often as I did in the past
Eventually I got annoyed and started trying to figure out a way to stop it
Most of the crashes had to do with some sort of memory issue it seemed, i dont have any error codes I can share unfortunately
Considering this, I ran mdsched to evaluate the RAM and when I did this my Windows Boot Manager would tell me that windows failed to start and would say that I was missing a memtest.efi file(presumably what the mdsched runs)
A few days ago I finally stuck my windows usb into my PC and tried to repair this issue, but it said that it was unable to repair it
At this point I think that I need to just do a fresh reinstall of windows 10 but haven't done this and am somewhat wary
This is because of 1 main reason, when I got a NVMe drive and added it do my build, I had a HDD that had my OS on it. Since I wanted faster boot times, I swapped it to my new SSD. However, I don't remember how I did it and all I know now is that I have files on my HDD that I am unable to delete that are comprised of Windows, Users, Program Files, and Program Files(x86) folders. This itself might be the reason that I have been having the problems in the first place, but when I added my NVMe drive it didnt seem to be a problem at first.
Anyways, my plan that I guess I want you all to pick apart is, buy a 2TB external HD. Then create two folders on it, one for my C drive(SSD) and one for my F drive(HDD). And drag and drop any important files that I want to be saved. Then just perform a total system wipe and reinstall windows. Then just drag and drop files back in bulk. This is the brute force method of doing it, and I am positive there are more elegant ways of doing it so if anyone has another idea or sees an issue with mine PLEASE let me know.
Anyways, thanks for reading this and I hope it was fairly coherent.

Hey guys, I’m not sure what to do about this- Im also not sure if this is the right place to put this bc I have no idea.
I got invited to join a class and when I joined I tried to take a quiz but instead of being able to I was able to change the whole file (such as name, points, etc.) I also could see the answers to the quiz, which happened when I tried to get into it again. I emailed my teacher but they never responded.
Is there a way that I can switch from teacher to student? Or do I have to contact them again?
I will also say I tried Google but it didn’t say anything Thanks :)

Long story short my old boss (who became a friend) was/is highly unstable. Im fairly certain she has undiagnosed BPD and had mentioned it to her in the past. She had no boundaries for work or personal. It was only her and I who worked together each day so I have no one to really speak for the experience I went thru (anyone who did work there quit by week 6 because she was bad. They don't want to write testimony letters in my appeal case due to fear of her retaliating). My boss ensured I quit via email and not fired so i could not get unemployment. I did get approved for unemployment due to a toxic work environment. She claims she did not receive the documents in time to dispute the claim.
Here's a quick overview of why I quit below: We where on a "worktrip" (I was not paid) at a medspa conference. I am not a injector but she is and I was her model. She got mad at me during lunch for inviting one of the girls to go out with us later that night because she was alone. My boss decided to be rude and say ACTUALLY NO THIS IS MY ASSISTANT AND WE ARE NOT GOING OUT TONIGHT (we where and had already had plans on the night for weeks) and then she said COME ON LETS GO and I said no Im going to finish lunch and the conversation and she rolled her eyes and walked away. After that she ignored me for the rest of the day and would pretty much walk away from me if I tried to engage her. She started to be rude to the people running this thing and throwing a fit because she was one of the last injectors. She threw such a fit that they ended up giving her thousands of dollars in free product to get back into her good graces. I was around for this and it was super akward. There was no reason for her to be so rude and disrespectful and she knows I dont play that game and dont want to be associated with people that do cause its not a good look (I had almost quit a few months back due to her being so rude to a sales person that she almost cried and told her then I would not be apart of that ever again and she said she would fix it). After the conference there was a reception for drinks and snacks. She went straight to bar and I sat where she could see me and she just walked away so I went downstairs to the lobby to call and check on my kids. When I went to go back up to the room she had a call on speaker and she was saying terrible things about me and lies. After 15 mins of this she realized I was outside the door and could hear her and asked me to come in and talk. I was pissed at the time so I said no not right now and she slammed the door. I went downstairs to call my husband and calm down and about 20 mins later she comes down with glass of wine in hand telling me we had to speak now. I said no I'm speaking to my husband right now and I'll speak with her later. She said OH YEA REALLY THATS HOW ITS GNA BE THEN I GOT YOU and went back upstairs. A few minutes later a text comes thru from the girl I met at lunch asking about plans for the night. I go to respond and my boss had locked me out of the work account so I go and check my other work accounts and I was locked out of those as well. Then I see her go into the lobby bar and I was not wanting to play her mind games and her "forcing" me to talk to her so I went up to the hotel room to pack my stuff and go to another hotel. I get to the door and try my key and it won't work so go down to the lobby asking for assistance. They called her 3x on speaker with no answer and then go to the back office and 5 mins later come out saying security would be escorting me to get my things. After getting my stuff with security I'm in the lobby and she's like where are you going and I said I'm leaving I'm not doing this with you and she freaks out so I said I was serious to leave me alone and we would discuss it once we got into the office on Monday. She went on to text me at least 70 text messages during the night saying how I wasn't suppose to hear her saying those things (backstory: she has been caught doing this multiple times to me either clients, coworkers, friends, and even directly in front of me. I had spoken to her about it previously saying to stop and she said would and was always just teasing). The next morning (aprx 8 hours later) we fly home. I changed my seat so I wasn't next to her and she kept walking the aisles trying to get my attention and after the 4th time dropped a note on my lap apologizing again). I didn't speak with her and had my husband pick me up from the airport. A few hours later she ends up sending a text that says HEY DID YOU QUIT? I said no I assumed I was fired since I was locked out of all accounts and I'm fine with that. She said no your not fired but if you want to quit please send a resignation letter so I did and it said I QUIT DUE TO A TOXIC WORK ENVIRONMENT. As the days and weeks passed she continued to message me apologizing and asking me to come back to work and each time I refused telling her until she is under the care of a mental health professional for at least 6 months I would not consider it. Once she realized I filed for unemployment and got approved she lost her shit and started to report me saying that I am working and frauding the system (I'm not) and that I quit because I was mad that she told me I was not hitting work standards. Eventually she filed the appeal and it's filled with lies and aprx 40 fake document "writeups" and where the employee should sign it says EMPLOYEE REFUSED TO SIGN on every single one (this is not true as I never received any write up in my 1 year). The appeal hearing case was the other day and she brought her brother inlaw/part owner of company/lawyer with her. I know this guy and have watched his child for him and we have always been on great terms. He came at me hard. So hard to the point that when I was answering the officers questions I had to ask that he be muted due to him laughing or repeatedly yelling at me saying REALLY or ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?! They denied ever receiving my documents concerning the case (they did I sent them to her email where she sent her documents to me from) and insisted they not be used. This went on for over a hour leaving the officer to say we need to continue this at another date and the packet will be in the mail with the new date and time. He went on to argue about why it should be settled now and she had to keep repeating herself that it would be continued as she has other appointments. I expect this next hearing will be just as crazy and if I am still approved for unemployment that they will appeal it again and again until they win or are out of appeals. I'm not sure if I should continue to fight it or just say screw it because I have really bad anxiety over it all (even typing this my heart is racing and hands are sweating) and she is pretty crazy so I'm kind of worried how she will retaliate if I do win. I also know if I lose that I have to repay all money received plus interest and I can't afford that at the moment..obviously. Really the only reason I am at this point is due to principal and wanting to let's her know what she doesn't isn't acceptable. If I give up I feel like she will win and continue on her merry path of destruction and hate. Should I get my own lawyer for this? I'm sure it will cost me more that I will even get from unemployment in total (I have a max benefit amount of 2k) but I have never done this before and feel like I might need someone with experience.

ive been playing on the better mc v26 modpack with friends on a server and things have been going smoothly until just today. a week or two ago i added a few mods, namely things like create, appleskin, botania, aquaculture, and ice and fire, and that all went smoothly as well for until just now. i logged on, fed my baby dragon and went out to get some more meat for dragon meal. after a few seconds of walking i got disconnected and any attempt to rejoin gets me kicked after a second or two of loading in. ive looked into it and hear a lot that its an issue of rubidium, but ive looked through the modlist and it is not there. i have xenon which i think is similar but updating xenon hasnt helped either. any help would be appreciated, please and thank you !!

basically i played on cemu alot a while ago like last summer and stuff, and now i wanna use the 2.0 (82) update but i really dont have a clue how to transfer the files and have all my saves and whatnot on the new cemu version. can i have some tips on how to find the old game save folder and how to get the new cemu to have all my old stuff pls. also yes ik i loaded the base game for zelda but it dosent have my time and stuff so i just didnt go further with anything else

Hi, I am a total newbie. I just got a Brio HD 4K webcam and a Rode ME microphone. I am recording training videos. The training is for a manual therapy, similar to chiropractic and physio.
I currently have a Macbook Air, I bought it nearly 3 years ago, I just read a thread due to having encoding overload. I used the auto-config wizard as I was having no luck adjusting it as I would like - probably because I wanted to create videos at 1080 and 60fps. Should I be updating my laptop in order to get that possibility?

It says I have insufficient hardware and that "Your system is below minimum specs for OBS to run and is too underpowered to livestream using software encoding. Livestreams and recordings may run more smoothly if you are using a hardware encoder like QuickSync, NVENC or AMF (via Settings -> Output)."
Where can I get Quicksync for macbook?
This is an absolute mindfield!

I tried searching but didnt find exact answer to this.
Im currently using the XSX as client but is a pain in the ass to use, lots of crashes or sometimes is not even able to play big files
I know the Shield is the best but is pretty expensive to import it to Mexico. So the Cube is any good for 4K remuxes? Im fine if its not able to play all DV profiles or DTSMA, Im only interested for it to reliable play TrueHD.
