Electronic fingerprint background check in broward county florida

Criminal history check discrepancy on application!?

2024.06.02 07:00 Special_Blood388 Criminal history check discrepancy on application!?

Took my NCLEX in PA today. Decided to check on my nursing application (PA licensing PALS website) and saw it said action required: criminal history check status discrepancy. I’m PANICKING! I think perhaps it just wasn’t uploaded correctly because when I clicked to expand it, it basically just wanted me to upload again. I did a PA background check and the FBI fingerprint background check as I’ve lived out of PA, and from what I can see both came back with no prior arrests or records. Obviously I’d know if I’ve been arrested 😂 but in my anxiety riddled brain I’m like but what if there is something else that would be causing a discrepancy? I was young and dumb once and (attempted to) shoplift from Walmart, was not arrested but paid a fine I believe. Waiting the 48 hours for results is brutal enough but now seeing a “discrepancy” on my application is making it that much worse. I think I passed, shut off at 85 and got the “good pop up” from Pearson. But if anyone has experienced something similar with the application my mind would greatly appreciate it. I tried to do Google searches on this and found absolutely nothing in reference to criminal history check discrepancy.
Thank you in advance for any insight!!

2024.06.02 05:01 pushpopsavior WIBTA if I told my mom's doctor about her actual mental state?

I love my mom but the last couple months I really think she's losing it. I'm on her primary caretaker list so I have access to all of her doctors information and I take her to all of her appointments.
She's agoraphobic, doesn't leave the house unless she's going to mandatory hospital visits a couple times a year.
That's not new, that's been a thing for years now. The doctor recommended therapy but she's not interested, she just wants to stay medicated, and everything to stay the way it is.
So the last ~6 years she's constantly been watching the news since Trump got on the scene. Those 24 hours news networks.
She's never even been interested in politics but now all she does is watch political TV because I guess she got super into trump ~2018
The news is always on and she's telling me about whatever scandal is going on from the "republicans" since about 2 years ago. I kinda got used to it. Really didn't think much of it because I have some other family who watch those networks all the time and are still rational people they just don't have anything to do so they keep it on.
Now the part that scares me....
Over the last 3 months she watches this lady she found on Facebook who says she talks to god and he tells her the future and it's all appealing to her political views but she buys it hook line & sinker.
I go to her house once or twice a week and it's all she talks about and she's always watching either the news or that Facebook lady and it's really freaking me out.
Like she is really worried about immigrants taking over the county and thinks they're working for the government to cause a civil war or something. And then this lady in the background saying "trump is innocent, sayith the lord"
I'm kind of at a loss on what the hell to do. I talked to my step dad who's kinda checked out from the relationship and he said that's all she talks about anymore.
Like how long until my mom is talking to god and he says the mailman is an immigrant trying to kill her?
I don't know what the hell to do besides maybe reach out to her doctor and say maybe a med prescription switch is in order or something?
I mean I get it there's people who believe in that stuff who aren't medicated or diagnosed and probably live normal lives but the obsession is really creepy and it doesn't even seem like my mom anymore.
Would I be the asshole for saying something?
Does anyone know anything about this and have any advice?
I tried to have a rational conversation about it like maybe she's just watching it but doesn't actually believe it but she thinks this lady is a prophet or something.
Wibtah?

2024.06.02 04:43 FelonThrowaway12 Can an “expunged” felon travel to countries that don’t allow felons? CA, USA

So I came across a tweet that listed all the countries Trump can’t go to because he’s a convicted felon now and it alarmed me.
I was charged with several felonies and in 2017 took a plea deal of no contest to a charge of felony assault with a deadly weapon plus a strike on my record.
Last year I had an attorney file for dismissal which I guess is the closest thing to expungement in California. The judge granted the dismissal of all convictions or pleas under PC 1203.4. My understanding of this is that my case will still show up on a background check but will show as case dismissed instead of convicted.
My question(s) are, am I able to travel to countries like Japan, Taiwan, Mexico, South Korea (for vacation, not extended stays)? Will they not care that the case was dismissed? When traveling to these countries, do they do a background check/fingerprint scan? Do they ask if I’m convicted and am I technically allowed to answer no since it was dismissed?
I’m concerned because I recently applied for a job at an airport and they initially sent me a letter denying me because they did a fingerprint scan and the conviction came up. The person who did my fingerprint scan told me they don’t check for the status of a case, just the existence of one. I sent the airport the letter from the judge dismissing my case and they did end up approving me, but this whole process took almost a month and I don’t imagine immigration doing all that.

2024.06.02 04:32 Flymama80 Licensure delay

Just posting this for awareness. I live in Oregon took the NCLEX with my other classmates all in the same week, everyone received their results and licensures the next day except me. Here I am thinking it’s because o a DUI from over 10 years ago. Didn’t receive my results, paid for the quick results. I PASSED unofficially. Called OSBN regarding my licensure she said it’s in the final review stage wouldn’t tell me a time frame. I lost my job that I had lined up because of it. Now I’m finding out from reading online, and other nurses that have shared my experience that every now and then someone’s application gets lost in the mix, or doesn’t get reviewed and it causes a delay. Some have gone without for weeks to months. I cannot believe that this is happening, I am so upset. Every day next week I will be pressing the board for them to review it not cutting anyone slack. This is bull crap I applied in February 2024 and did all my background check, fingerprints etc. This is unacceptable they should be accommodating any nurses due to their mistakes and expediting the process!

2024.06.01 23:22 REYXOLOTL How long does it take to know if you got the job or not?

I applied in early March, got the conditional job offer March 17 after doing the background and the fingerprints, the hiring manager I spoke to said I had the job in the bag. I emailed after 1 month like they had said to do but here I am 2 and a half months later and no reply. This job would literally change my life and I’m anxious waiting to hear if I got it or not, I checked my career profile where I applied and it said “offer phase (ext)”. Has anyone had to wait more than 2 months to hear back from them? I’m literally dying of anxiety wondering if it’s got the job or not…. I’m a veteran, I want to retire early.

2024.06.01 22:53 DullExit6887 Pixel 7 RMA declined: Screen separating from frame

Hi reddit,
I just wanted to get your opinion on a case regarding the warranty status of my Pixel 7:
Background information: The phone was bought in October 2022 in Germany and is (other than the later described defect) in pristine condition. There is not a single scratch or nick on the phone. The phone actually has never left my flat and usually stays at my desk 24/7, since I only use it as a device for working from home.
Defect: The last time I took the phone out of its silicone bumper to wipe off some fingerprints, I noticed that the screen is separating from the aluminium frame. If one presses it down again, it shortly sticks again and then lifts up again, providing a noise that sounds like lifting up something sticky of a table. The screen itself is not cracked, it is either the glass separating from the panel itself or the whole display separating from the frame. The area where the screen is lifting of the frame is getting bigger over time. Gif of the separating screen
What I would see as possible causes for the damage: 1. The glue holding down the display just lost its stickyness. 2. The battery started to swell and pushes up the display, what I also have seen other people report.
Conctact to Google: I contacted Google support, sent them a video of the issue and the warranty of my phone was directly declined because of "physical damage". Several mails back and forth, the involvement of a "specialists team" as well as the request of a supervisor lead to nothing.
What I have a hard time dealing with is, that all of the responses I got were machine translated, almost bot like texts, hardly referring to my prior mails and that not a single mail included any answer to the question of how I should have caused the damage on the phone by myself.
Questions: I would like to ask for your experiences and advice with Google support and if I just have to accept that Google can decline warranty by looking at a video and that the screen will just come off eventually. Is there any chance that the workers in the repair facility would judge the situation differently and RMA the phone if I just sent it in? Futhermore, what exactly is not "physical damage" besides plain software, since even a swollen battery or burnt out electronics are of a phyisical nature?
Thank you in advance!

2024.06.01 20:42 Jv1856 How to convince wife to seek treatment? 37M, 32F- 9 yrs.

My(37M) wife (33F), together 9 years, married 4, is struggling, and it’s a bit complex. Divorce is a real possibility for us, and will taint anything I say to her. I want to make sure whatever treatment actions she takes are protected.
About a year ago, she (a nurse in a psych hospital) was attacked by a patient and kicked in the head. She received a concussion and her work handled it horribly. Long story short, she ended up with considerable time off and poor follow up treatment, before finally leaving and getting a new job.
While off on worker’s comp, we racked up a considerable amount of CC debt, and were already working on a previously built up debt that we had gotten out of control.
She has always been a little bipolar (1pt away from a full blown diagnosis by a licensed doctor) and struggled with anxiety and impulse control, not bad, but it was there. However, since the attack, it has been almost crippling for her. She was bawling hysterically frequently about returning to work and even confided she was very depressed. She finally spoke to our doctor who started to treat her with some meds. She was horrible about following through and taking as prescribed, often missing or (I believe) increasing dosage. Nothing she was on was prone to abuse though. She had also missed her period several months in a row and failed both self and prescribed pregnancy tests.
Then we found out she was pregnant. It was a surprise, as we were actually getting diagnostics done where they had prepared us to possibly expect cancer. Through pregnancy, she was actually very good. I thought things were getting better. Certainly a little anxiety about finances, but it was actually a good thing, as it really woke her up to her spending habits and we were able to drastically cut our spend.
The pregnancy wasn’t unwanted, but was unexpected. We had began to think we couldn’t have kids, though never really considered fertility treatment. We had previously discussed her staying home until school-age if we had a kid and it was financially viable. However, in our current state, we would be unable to make ends meet without her working. I thought we were in agreement on this, both worked from home, and would attempt to avoid day care. We are both high earners, but have a lot of debt.
Then about three months ago our son was born. My wife’s labor was a mess, riddled with with preeclampsia, extended labor inducement, and ending with a c section. She was exhausted and had post partem preeclampsia too.
We got out of the hospital finally, and have basically had family staying with us since, between her parents or my dad.
As soon as her mom got here, she started pressuring me to agree for her to stay home and quit her job. I said if she could figure out a budget I would, but I don’t see a way. She through out bankruptcy, credit counseling, going to 1 car. I already had liquidated 401k to get out of her highest interest rate cards and like I said, her spend was now under control. But I just don’t see a way to make that happen.
She has been really irradic lately and has unilaterally extended her maternity leave without pay. She went ahead and took a new job that is weekends only and pays a little less, so that she can spend more time with the kid.
As part of our reduced spending, we moved to a much cheaper rent in the county. It’s in the worst school district/crime area, but still in a HCOLA area and above average, just the worst in the county.
During the move, her mom has been up to help watch the kid. In reality, my wife and her hang out most of the time. She will unpack a box here or there, but it’s been a month and still a mess. No cleaning is happening.
I have been doing all of the groceries, cooking, errands, moving the boxes, yard work. I understand she has issues going on, but I just can’t do this solo anymore. I am also taking the kid when he wakes up around 530a until her mom or her gets up, usually around 1000. My wife does take his midnight-0200 feeding and lay him down. I am also working full time, it’s WFH and I am fortunate to have pushed off a lot of projects, but it’s soon crunch time for me. I have avg 4 hours of sleep.
I am concerned, because things just are continuing to get worse. She takes great care of the kid, but I feel like she is neglecting so much responsibility. She thinks I am the AH for not blindly agreeing for her to not work. She has told me she has suicidal ideation and recently admitted to being fully suicidal prior to the pregnancy, then said with the kid, she would never go that route now, but just the other day when faced with her return to work date, made a reference about potentially killing herself. She denies that now.
She says she has post partem and the only thing that will work is her not worki. I have told her we can’t afford it but if she is getting treatment by a pro, and following their advice and that advice is to stay home while she continues treatment, I’ll figure out how to make it work.
The problem is, she isn’t pursuing any sort of treatment. She is incredibly smart, and will tell people what they want to hear. With the attack, she had a legitimate big lawsuit to pursue, got a lawyer, but really didn’t follow any treatment plans from the psychiatrist or lawyer. I let it go, as they were admittedly playing things up for a lawsuit, but they weren’t all wrong either.
Her mom is all sort of diagnosed mental illnesses and also a master at manipulating diagnosis to get whatever pill she wants. I fear her influence on my wife. She also encourages her to not work and the impulsive spending. I am terrified my wife will go down this path.
My wife has been threatening divorce and says me wanting to get her help is just to get out of child support . Prior to the injury, we were struggling already but working through it. The aforementioned debt, stale sex life, porn- normalish things for 9-yr relationship. I won’t say they were perfect, but they weren’t impending doom and we worked the problem.
I need her to understand that I think a lot of this is unhealthy and she is ill. If she I truly getting treatment, we may be able to save the relationship, don’t even know if we would want to honestly, but things are to the point I am not convinced that with out me there to pick up the slack, she would be able to fully take care of the kid. When she is sleepy, she just shuts down. We made it one night with breast feeding before she said it was too tiring. If she has slept less than 5 hours, she will wait until I get the baby, even if I had like an hour. I have chalked a lot of it up to birth recovery, but it’s only getting worse.
If I knew she was stable and getting real treatment, I wouldn’t ever use that against her. At the same time, current state, I don’t trust my son to the care if I am not there. I think a child needs his mom more than his dad at this age and want him to have both, but not like this.
Her mom I think is part of the problem too, because she will comment about how much I do and is complimentary, but also doesn’t curb my wife when she is neglecting things. She is in a tough spot, but I think we are to the point where wife needs a reality check.
I am open to feedback on my actions, but don’t need any disparaging commentary on her or her family please. My sole interest is getting her into a mental state that I can trust to do what it takes for our kid.
The only thing I can think of is a 72 hold and force to her to get cleared by a doctor, but i am 1) not confident we are there, 2) not confident she wouldn’t mask it with her background, and 3) it would absolutely kill any chance at fixing things. 4) I’d prefer there to not be a legal record of her treatment, for her sake. Things could well end in divorce, we both see it as at least a possibility, and she is smart enough to understand potential implications.

2024.06.01 20:24 BustAtticus I started a new job. What do you tell your coworkers or managers if anything?

Hello to all my AA peeps! I started a new job this past week in a major step towards living a good and happy life after years of miserable drinking. I’m 16 months sober and got into a major car accident when drinking that resulted in a crushed spine and about 14 months of recovery time. It was a severe injury that leaves a lot of people paralyzed but I beat the odds and I’m walking again and don’t have any major restrictions but I do have a lot of screws and other hardware fusing my spine together. I also beat the odds by recovering from this injury and getting sober at the same time as I haven’t touched alcohol since. I also have repaid my debt to society by fulfilling every single thing that the court has asked of me including house arrest, license suspension, fines, court mandated recovery, etc and I’m off of active probation but do have a year left. I’m proud of all this because as we know this is a difficult situation to overcome especially when bedridden for months and living alone. My AA friends unanimously say I won the lottery. I’m very active in AA too.
None of this came up in my interview process although I was ready to respond positively to any question posed. There was a big gap on my resume since the accident and gaps before this too due to layoffs yet they didn’t even ask me about this believe it or not. It is a career position with my local county government within dept of natural resources and parks so it has requirements well above average. I passed my background check, driving record abstract, and full physical focused on lifting and a proper range of motion, and everything was fully disclosed truthfully and honestly by myself to the doctor and human resources so nothing was hidden from anyone. However, alcoholism and my accident didn’t come up once in my interviews and because there were no related questions including a 16 month gap ending now. I decided to be smart about it and didn’t bring it up either on my end. Of course alcoholism is private - however, I would have volunteered it as overcoming it the way I did in my situation is all good and any employer would want a guy like me for this perseverance and successfully overcoming adversity. Yes, that was a humble brag, but I’ve been so damn hard on myself and people have specifically told me to remember this and to say this which has helped me to overcome my shame. :).
TL:DR - So here is my question. Would you tell your coworkers and managers about any of this just as part of everyday conversation or is it best to keep it to myself for the time being?
Yes, I do want to share my story and help others and I do yet this is the workplace where my past actions may be highly offensive to some people, gossip happens that I can’t control, and it can be seen as a liability to management. I’m sure there’s many other disadvantages to sharing it as there are very judgmental people out there in general who look down on alcoholics or some who simply will try to use it against me to get ahead. Any thoughts? Thx for any input both good and bad!

2024.06.01 16:42 fredzavalamo I'm a professional who is unemployed, sick and broke because I never finished university, or something like that.

Today I want to vent about my situation as I'm trying some options in order to see if I can get help or advice. Long text incoming, sharing the story and background of my current situation.
My name is Fred, I'm 29M, still living with my parents and was born and still live in South America. I started following an electronic automation engineering degree almost eleven years ago. It was a public university, so I didn't have to pay for education but right through that moment my world started to crumble although it was already not ideal for quite some time.
While I went to university, I had what I can describe now as chronically low self esteem, social anxiety, depression, anger and complete social unawareness. I was an early 20s guy who managed to get into the best university (my dream university), had a brilliant mind for numbers but not so much socially speaking. That was a huge disadvantage in the university ecosystem I was part of.
Not only that, but during that time, my parents marriage started its complete downfall, which coupled with the poor financial situation overall, hit the last nail in the coffin for me to go, at the age of 21 and just at the middle of my engineering degree, through my very first full blown mental breakdown.
Everything came to me at once: the fact I had no actual friends in university, my desperation to get a romantic partner, my jealousy seeing other people better put together than me enjoy their youth years while I was stuck with poverty, loneliness and a crumbling family.
The year I dropped out from uni, the mental and at that point physical pain (I started to have panic attacks, derealization, existential anxiety) was unbearable. I decided one day to just stop going to classes and that was it. Since I didn't want mom to know (she was going to kill me), I used to still go outside but instead of going to uni, I went to parks or to the streets and walk around like a zombie or sit down in a bank, watching the world keep moving while my mind played the bad voices inside it non stop.
I was devastated. The last year of uni I even started to get bullied by someone around my age (21 years old!?). I couldn't handle it at all. I felt emasculated, angry, terrified and disappointed. Years of panic attacks reached to a maximum point in where one big panic attack was so strong that it made me projectile vomit my stomach contents. From that point on, and for the next months, I couldn't eat anything without it coming right back right while I was eating.
I don't know if you understand how bad that was. I ended up tweaking my digestive system through my nerves so violently, that my food was just not staying down. That's when I somehow and with some of the money I got from working as a teacher, paid for my medical attention. They found out I have acid reflux. Back then the acid got into my lungs and it gave me asthma, for which I was prescribed an inhaler. I had severe, severe heartburn, to the point I thought I was having a heart attack.
Through all of that, my hair started to thin and fall off until this day, and also my eyes got something where they are dry all the time, no matter what I do. This has been going for at least 7 years of my memory serves me well.
Since I left university and already told mom I was not attending, I knew as a fact I had to work. At some point, I came to terms with dropping out and knew in my heart it was the right decision, because then I finally had more peace and time to think. I ended up knowing myself, loving myself and taking care of the broken pieces, alone and in silence.
At some point, work was going really good for me (that was the time I was able to pay for my medical attention). Time passed by and with many challenges came: the pandemic, increase in criminality and poverty in my city (I live in Ecuador, South America). Those factors changed the market in such a way it was notably more difficult and outright impossible to get myself clients the way I used to.
Now, I'm aware change is a constant and that I should adapt to the necessities of the time, but since this changes are also related to the growing gap between poor and rich, I was getting left behind more and more.
Nowadays, I found new ways to advertise and sell, but those are not cutting it. Sure I make profit but that's like $3 each day BEST CASE SCENARIO. I'm so ready to go to the next level but I lack the resource and health needed to get there. That's why I'm reaching out, specially here. I want to find someone who can help me get out of this situation: I'm unemployed, broke, sick with no university degree and all the intention to get better at life. I just need a little help and this is me looking for it.
What I need is really easy and anyone can help me with that: just sharing my story so that it reach someone who can help, hire me or anything like that. I think I forgot to mention but I'm a professional STEAM and languages teacher (Spanish, English, German, Turkish), I play the violin, guitar and a bit of piano. My health is not so good, so, sometimes I can't really work. I need urgent medical attention. I don't know if I will make it if I don't have an accelerator pump right now. Some days I fear that the issues I got in my bowels will turn into something deadly (cancer) the more I don't get it checked and treated.
I need help and I am full of talent and good wishes. I am a good person, compassionate, inclusive, tolerant. I just want to live and enjoy life and help others to do the same if possible. Please someone, help me out, I will not disappoint you.

2024.06.01 13:10 No-Debate2873 The Pandering Brown Sisters Still Grifting

The Pandering Brown Sisters Still Grifting
After a faulty start setting up a charitable tax-exempt organization in their deceased sister’s name, to support domestic abuse victims in late 1994, the Browns had appointed at the helm to run it a convicted violent domestic abuser and swindler. A 1995 Los Angeles Times article cited that….”the founding president of the Nicole Brown Simpson fund, records show, is a convicted felon and accused spousal batterer, who was once named in a domestic restraining order for posing a “clear and present danger” to his estranged wife and two children. Jeff C. Noebel, a 40-year-old Dallas businessman, is currently awaiting sentencing in U.S. District Court for lying to federal authorities in a savings-and-loan investment scam, one of his many shaky business ventures that have left a trail of bankruptcies and lawsuits from Texas to California.” Yet, the Browns pretended they did not know his background though Noebel stated that he had told them about the abuse charges, apparently his silver tongue offer to build them a successful, donation-seeking, organization was too juicy for the Brown family to pass up.
Yet, here we go again, the Brown sisters grifting during the 30th anniversary month of the OJ Simpson case in conjunction with the Lifetime cable network with the two-night streaming of The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson.
It should be an interesting dichotomy, since for 30 years someone has been lying. The father, Louis Brown, stated to the police detectives and later coroner’s investigator less than 12 hours after the murders occurred that his daughter, Nicole Brown Simpson, was last known to be alive the night before at 11PM talking to her mother, Juditha Brown, regarding glasses left behind by the mother at Brentwood’s Mezzaluna restaurant.
Two days later the mother would give the same time on two different occasions, first to the Simpson defense investigators, and then after they told Attorney Robert Shapiro, he would ask her himself what time that last call took place. Juditha Brown would tell Shapiro the same thing, that she talked to Nicole at 11PM on or about June 16, 1994.
When Shapiro asked how she knew it was 11PM she stated that when she arrived home from Brentwood that night she checked the clock and it said 11PM. However, within 7 months the 11PM last call would be changed, in another flim-flam slid past all of the American viewers whose attention was generally diverted to some tabloid unrelated event outside the courtroom. The time of the last phone call was changed in a low-key stipulation entered in open court and offered surprisingly by the defense team’s Robert Shapiro. He was now agreeing to accept a new time of 09:37 PM as the last call shown on an exhibit document, the Exhibit 35 POSTERBOARD claimed to represent the phone calls of Juditha Brown. The importance of the stipulation in California is that by their long-established state law it allows the evidence to circumvent examination by a jury.
This may be one of the most important tools to allow that state to have their notable celebrity show trials. Supposedly, all times on the Posterboard were accepted by Shapiro as his covering excuse to speed the case along since the Simpson defense lawyer was posturing that the prosecution witness, Karen Crawford, Mezzaluna weekend manager and bartender, could not accurately be certain of the final time anyway. So, the defense would simply accept the times shown on the posterboard, including the alleged phone call from Juditha Brown at 9:37 PM as seen in the blown-up section provided above. Defense lawyer Johnnie Cochran would do the same 5 months later and leave tell-tale evidence of their cooperative malfeasance as shown in the following video clip. https://youtu.be/Bk3Muy_MgJA?si=rDrtYy84pmfjapE0. This video clip of Cochran stumped OMIG investigators for about 7 years as to why he would enter what appears to be a false stipulation, until realizing based on other information that the Simpson trial and its malfeasance was to be utilized by Cochran for a more important trial he had lost where an innocent man, that was his client, would spend almost 29 years of his life behind bars as a result of Cochran’s naivety until Cochran could maneuver his release.
11 PM is important to this case because it places OJ Simpson in the backseat of a chauffeured limousine on its way to LAX for him to catch an 11:45 PM flight to Chicago while his ex-wife was still alive. The waitress, Tia Gavin, stated that the Brown party departed the Mezzaluna restaurant at around 8:45 PM, and now the last phone call from the Brown home in Dana Point, Orange County was at 09:37 PM approximately 52 minutes after departing Brentwood in West Los Angeles. Everyone, i.e. news commentators, highway patrolmen are on tape saying the distance was a 90 minute to two-hour drive between Brentwood and Dana Point, Orange County. This includes the two lead LAPD detectives, Phil Vannatter and Tom Lange, who stated in their book EVIDENCE DISMISSED below, that the drive was at least an hour and a half drive.
Since two of the Brown sisters were in the car on that fateful drive back home that night from L.A.’s Brentwood to Dana Point, someone is lying, and it certainly does not appear to be our side since all of the evidence appears to support our findings that the Brown family did not arrive home in approximately 45+ minutes. The highway data regarding traffic volume and density due to highway construction to build the HOV lane imply more like a 2-hour drive. This is what the data indicates the drive home for the Browns looked like on the southbound I-405 the night of June 12, 1994 between the hour of their departure from Brentwood between 8-9PM.
We at OMIG predict that the truth is going to ultimately catch up to all of these charlatans and grifters and expose them for this reckless and dangerous lie that they have placed before the public for the last 30 years sucking up all oxygen in the media space. The phone records were removed by court order from the Simpson case file to continue this lie so that the records could not be examined. However, these corrupt officials beyond the Brown sisters have continued to conceal the truth.
Several people pull this angelic cloak off of their unfortunate deceased sister, Nicole. Even Kato Kaelin, who Nicole invited to move into her pool guest house on Gretna Green before moving over to her condo on Bundy spoke in his book about Nicole throwing drug parties, where the party goers were making a bee-line upstairs, going up and down to the point Kato asked why. Someone pulled his coat during his recent meeting of Nicole as an invited guest to her party and told him “That’s where the cocaine is”. Kato who resided a year with Nicole and her children, would go on to state in his book that he witnessed Nicole becoming very belligerent and out of control when drinking too much tequila when out in social settings. Having to have the keys wrestled away by her girlfriends from preventing her being a drunk driver on the streets and highways. On one occasion it became so embarrassing with her being out of control that he simply left the gathering, which appeared to be par for the course for the Mousey looking house guest. He also accused Nicole the obsessive party gal of being a chain smoker; hence, he undermines the pristine image that the prissy Brown sister-grifters seem to be attempting to portray in all probability for the sake of making a dollar once again.
They knew that the so-called Bruno Magli shoe prints found in the sidewalk tiles did not fit Simpson’s foot, so they have attempted to conceal that until OMIG investigators examined the police photos and attained verification that the sidewalk tiles were only 11- and 1/2-inches square.
Because OMIG investigators stood firm during an interview with former FBI agents that one of their peers had lied about his true knowledge concerning Simpson’s foot in those size 12 Bruno Magli shoes, they in turn called back and provided OMIG with 53 pounds of documents some of which was associated directly with the Simpson trial indicating that the agent, Roger Martz, had been lying and committing perjury as it related to the blood the FBI lab was asked to examine. He wrote a letter back to the LADA’s office and the deputy DA who had asked for their help, Rockne Harmon, telling them that he, Roger Martz, had completed an examination of the blood samples of Simpson found on the back gate and blood of Nicole found on socks on Simpson’s bedroom floor. Martz said that he could find no contamination with the blood preservative EDTA. It appears that Martz lied, and was called out for his lies by other FBI examiners in the lab in a complaint filed with the Office of the Inspector General of the USDOJ.
That document, entitled by OMIG as the Whitehurst Complaint due to the author who filed it, former FBI Agent Frederic Whitehurst, became a hidden document as well one in which OMIG has filed at least 3 Freedom of Information Requests to attain from the Office of the Inspector General. This all is predictably going to unravel, and exposes the weakness of using the Brown sisters to promote a false narrative with its subtle yet powerful racial undertones to the detriment of so many more important events that have taken place over the last 30 years. This promulgation simply exposes the recklessness in doing something like that by exposing the soft underbelly of vulnerability as a national security threat to the nation by providing a cheap and cost effective tool to weaponize to fragment and polarize a nation, with that being the use of racial animus to create national mass hysteria.

“Me and Mike did this incredible record called Hold My Hand and the record is amazing. Phenomenal. And the concept was that this would be Mike’s first release off of his new album, and then I would stripe it on my album – on my following release. That way we could have the outlets open for everyone to be able to receive the record. You know, Mike came up with this brilliant marketing launch for the record. Encryption and Protocols

In today's digital age, online security and privacy are more crucial than ever. With the increasing number of cyberattacks, data breaches, and surveillance, it is essential to have robust encryption methods and protocols in place to protect sensitive information. NordVPN.com, a leading Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, takes online security seriously and employs cutting-edge encryption methods and protocols to safeguard its users' data. In this chapter, we will delve into the encryption methods and protocols used by NordVPN.com to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of user data.
Encryption Methods
NordVPN.com uses the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a 256-bit key size to encrypt user data. AES is a widely used and highly effective encryption algorithm that is considered to be unbreakable. The 256-bit key size ensures that even the most powerful computers would take an impractically long time to crack the encryption, making it virtually unbreakable.
Protocols
NordVPN.com supports multiple VPN protocols, each with its strengths and weaknesses. The choice of protocol depends on the user's specific needs and the type of device being used. The most commonly used protocols are:
1. OpenVPN: OpenVPN is a widely used and highly secure protocol that is known for its stability and reliability. It is a popular choice among VPN users due to its ability to bypass firewalls and provide fast and secure connections.
2. IKEv2/IPSec: IKEv2/IPSec is a more recent protocol that is gaining popularity due to its ability to provide fast and secure connections. It is a widely supported protocol that is compatible with a wide range of devices and operating systems.
3. L2TP/IPSec: L2TP/IPSec is a protocol that is commonly used for remote access VPNs. It is a secure protocol that provides strong encryption and is widely supported by most devices and operating systems.
Key Exchange and Authentication
NordVPN.com uses the Diffie-Hellman key exchange algorithm to establish a shared secret key between the user's device and the VPN server. This algorithm ensures that the shared secret key is not compromised during transmission.
NordVPN.com also uses the SHA-256 hash function to authenticate the user's device and the VPN server. This ensures that the user's device and the VPN server are who they claim to be, preventing man-in-the-middle attacks.
Additional Security Measures
In addition to the encryption methods and protocols mentioned above, NordVPN.com employs several additional security measures to ensure the security and integrity of user data. These measures include:
1. 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption: NordVPN.com uses 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption to encrypt data transmitted between the user's device and the VPN server.
2. DNS leak protection: NordVPN.com's DNS leak protection ensures that DNS requests are routed through the VPN server, preventing DNS leaks and ensuring that user data remains private.
3. Kill switch: NordVPN.com's kill switch feature automatically terminates the internet connection if the VPN connection is lost, preventing data leaks and ensuring that user data remains secure.
4. Split tunneling: NordVPN.com's split tunneling feature allows users to select which applications and data are routed through the VPN, ensuring that sensitive data remains private and secure.
Conclusion
In conclusion, NordVPN.com's encryption methods and protocols provide a robust and secure way to protect user data. With the use of AES encryption, multiple VPN protocols, and additional security measures, NordVPN.com ensures that user data remains confidential, integrity is maintained, and authenticity is ensured. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, it is essential to stay ahead of the curve and employ the latest encryption methods and protocols to ensure the security and integrity of user data.

The USS Curtiss USO incident: that time the U.S. Navy ship delivering the hydrogen bomb for the Castle Bravo test was shadowed by an Unidentified Submarine Object in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Inspired by Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet’s (Ret.) recent discussions on USOs, I thought I would relate the following. Just over 70 years ago, an interesting incident occurred on board the USS Curtis – the U.S. Navy vessel tasked with delivery of the Shrimp device to the Pacific Proving Ground in 1954 for the notorious Castle Bravo nuclear weapons test. This particular test, which scientists from Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore laboratories had calculated to have a yield of 4,8 megatons actually went far above this calculation to achieve nearly 16 megatons of TNT equivalent yield. This miscalculation exposed many U.S. military personnel to dangerous levels of radiation and, more importantly, post traumatic stress disorder from being exposed to the close-range effects of such a large blast. Was the USO incident related to the yield miscalculation event?
USS Curtiss (AV-4)
The Curtiss class were the first seaplane tenders built from the keel up for the US Navy, the previous tenders had been converted from cargo ships. They were designed to provide command facilities for forward operating long-range patrol seaplane squadrons. To accomplish this, they were heavily armed with four 5-inch (130 mm)/38 caliber dual-purpose guns, and contained repair and maintenance facilities, along with supplies for operating in forward areas for many months.
The ships had a large seaplane deck located at the stern with the maintenance shops located in the superstructure just forward of it. They were built with three large cranes, one located at the starboard extreme of the stern, the second was at the aft of the superstructure on the port side, with the remaining crane located midship on the starboard side. The starboard crane at midship was removed from both ships during WWII and replaced with a 20-millimeter (0.79 in) Oerlikon cannon gun tub. Two of the 5-in guns were staggered on opposite sides of the rear superstructure, with the remaining two in a superfiring configuration at the bow of the ships.
From 23 February to 13 June 1951, Curtiss served as flagship for "Operation Greenhouse" and was the base for civilian and military technicians during the atomic tests at Eniwetok. She also provided meteorological information and operated a boat pool. Curtiss served at San Diego, in local operations until 29 September 1952, when she again sailed to Eniwetok, as flagship during the atomic tests of "Operation Ivy", during which the first hydrogen bomb was detonated. Returning to San Diego, on 4 December, she cruised the west coast, and visited Acapulco, Mexico, in 1953. From 10 January to 28 May 1954, she participated in "Operation Castle".
Rather than write about the USO event, I will post verbatim the eyewitness accounts of two U.S. Marines onboard the USS Curtiss – Robert Mackenzie and G. Nicholas Stuparich.
First, a little background from Mackenzie and Stuparich regarding their duties on the Curtiss:
Mackenzie: So all the guys that got a clearance, we went as a group on the Curtiss. Now we knew where it was going but we really didn’t know what we were going to do.
Interviewer : OK, so after the fact, at some point you know that you’ve gotten a clearance.
Mackenzie: We didn’t know that until we were already halfway on the cruise. And the way we found out is that some of the men were called in and they were told they didn’t get a Queen Clearance. They got top secret but they didn’t get Queen. And it was no fault of theirs, Mary. Some of them, if they had one relative that was born in another country and something, they just couldn’t get one.
Interviewer: Correct. Correct. So “Q” stands for “Queen.” Yes. Or is “Queen” something you make from “Q”? I wonder. I’ve never—
Mackenzie: Well, “Q” must be “Queen,” I guess. Yes. It must be.
Interviewer: You guys said “Queen,” though, when you said clearance.
Mackenzie: Yes. Yes. And it’s a Queen Clearance, yes. And they’re still around, I understand.
.
Mackenzie: And I tell you why, is that when I went aboard ship, they made me an orderly, which was a great honor. And so I was the admiral’s orderly, and before that I was the captain’s orderly. In fact, by the time I was aboard the Curtiss for eighteen months, I worked as an orderly for three admirals and two ship’s captains and the executive officer, which was a great background for a young man. And I have the highest regard for naval officers. I watched them talk to their men, I watched them talk to their fellow officers, I saw how they solved problems, and just what a great example for a young man, to be around people of that caliber. It was wonderful.
Interviewer: Let me ask you a question here because I don’t know that much about the armed forces. The Curtiss is obviously a Navy ship.
Mackenzie: Yes.
Interviewer: And you’re a Marine serving on it. Is that common?
Mackenzie: No. It’s only in capital ships, normally, which would be battleships— Interviewer: “Capital ships.”
Mackenzie: Capital ships, which would be—the terminology has changed today, Mary, but in my day it was battleships, cruisers, heavy cruisers, light cruisers, aircraft carriers, would have Marine detachments. Now originally the Marine detachments were almost the police force of the ship. And they were called MAs, which would be Master-of-Arms. Very unpopular with the Navy. And the brig is, of course, run by the Marines. But on our ship, we didn’t have those duties, not on the Curtiss. The Curtiss, we were a special force with top secret clearances. People only didn’t talk to us because they would say, Hey, you don’t talk to those guys. It was that kind of thing. So anyway, but we ended up being very close with the Navy, but our duties, we didn’t talk to each other about our duties.
Stuparich: So, I remember signing the clearance papers and they didn’t tell us what we were going to do or where we were going. We went aboard ship as supposedly just a Marine detachment, but then it ended up being as nuclear security. We were well briefed and well trained on what our jobs were aboard ship. I did security with the devices, once they were delivered to the vessel. We did perimeter security when the devices were being delivered, which meant we were out on the pier and out in the area when the trucks arrived, delivering units. Once the canisters were brought aboard, then we were assigned to security aboard the ship, which meant working in the hole. In other words, the devices were put in a particular compartment. We were responsible for the security of that department, the corridor that led to it, and I can’t remember if we were reading the temperature. We had to take a reading, I believe, once an hour and record it. I do not remember whether it was temperature or radiation, but it had to be recorded; I remember that if there was something wrong, and I don’t know the standard, but if it went over that standard or under that standard, we had to notify the science officer, who was also the engineering officer. That was Commander Hart, I believe.
Interviewer: Now, let me back up just a tiny bit with the security piece. So there’s a point at which you’re informed, I assume after you’re cleared, of what your mission actually is?
Stuparich: Correct.
Interviewer: Give me a sense of how much detail they give you there, and how much that is connected to what you already might know about nuclear weapons.
Stuparich: That’s a little bit confusing because I know so much more now than I did then. I do not believe they gave us that much information. They definitely didn’t give us a detailed description of our duties, other than that what we were doing was actually guarding a nuclear device, and that’s all they would say. We and I think about a half-a-dozen sailors were the only ones that actually saw the canisters being brought aboard. There were not very many people. That was secured. The whole aft deck was secured when that occurred.
Interviewer: And how many of there were you, when you say “we”?
Stuparich: There were probably six Marines on the dock, one or two on the trucks, then I think there were a couple in the different corridors—what they did was they dogged the hatches so people couldn’t come in when we were loading this particular material. Then it went down into the hole and then there was a special rack because the canisters had to be triced up in these racks. I can’t remember whether there was—I think there were six to a rack. And they were triced up like you would trice up nitroglycerine, you know, with like Bungee cords but I think they were springs.
Interviewer: Say that word again. I don’t know that word “trice.”
Stuparich: Tricing means to tie, and what it does is it keeps something in balance so that if it’s hanging, it’s free-hanging, but it’s in a rack, and this keeps the canister in line, and it’s called trice, you trice it up.
Interviewer: “Trice it up.” I see.
Stuparich: We didn’t do that. That was done by their people.
Stuparich: We embarked out of San Diego, went up to San Francisco. That’s it. We went to San Francisco, went to Hunters Point for something, some sort of refurbishing. Then from Hunters Point we went over to Port Chicago, picked up our merchandise, if you will, and then when we were through with that, when we pulled out, we went down and then into the bay. At that time we picked up some escorts, and then we went under the Golden Gate Bridge, at which time the Secret Service or FBI, whoever they were, had the bridge closed, and they were waving at us as we went underneath.
Interviewer: Wow, they closed the bridge.
Stuparich: They closed the Golden Gate Bridge. It was kind of cool because being from the Bay Area I kind of remembered that. I think I was aft at the time and I was looking up and yeah, sure enough, they did. And that was kind of interesting. So then we headed out to the Pacific. I think we refueled and resupplied once or twice, a ship came alongside, I think they came out of Hawaii. They used the high line and brought the stuff across, and then they brought the refueler up and then they refueled us. And that’s why they call us the Ghost Ship, because almost everything that we did, the replenishing and the refueling, was all done at sea.
Now, the USO incident – which many people denied having happened. The "Russian sub" somehow penetrated the flotilla protecting the Curtiss and was completely undetected until it appeared underneath the Curtiss. This event occurred a full 6 years before the Soviet's first nuclear submarine set sail - so for a diesel powered submarine in the middle of the Pacific without logistic support this feat would have been incredibly difficult to accomplish.
Stuparich Account:
Stuparich : The other thing that really upset me was the submarine.
Interviewer: Yes, talk to me about that a little bit.
Stuparich : Well, Robert Mackenzie was the admiral’s orderly that night, and I was the orderly on the next deck down, and my job was to protect the crypto room which was, if you were looking down the hall, was to the left, and then the CIC which was straight ahead.
Interviewer: CIC is?
Stuparich : Is Central Intelligence Control or something like that. It’s an area where they plot everything. [Note: on board U.S. Navy ships, the CIC is the Combat Information Center] Anyway, I was standing there and all of a sudden Commander Hart came running around the corner and said, “Come with me”, with that I was on alert. So we went into CIC and then there was—I stood at the door. He said, “Block the door”, and I blocked the door. And it was one of those combination doors in those days. And I saw him talking with an officer, with the officer in command of the CIC at the time, or duty officer, I guess is what you call him, and then they were really—I could tell they were really stressed about something. Then a chief electronics mate had taken the young man off of the board and they were looking at the board and plotting on the board something, and he got on the phone to the bridge. I immediately felt the ship changing course, and we immediately started into a zigzag situation. And then I could tell, this man was stressed, and I’d never seen him stressed like that before. This way, that way. Everything was very staccato. So went back up to the bridge and Mackenzie and the Admiral were already there. And as a young man, you’re looking at their body language and their facial features and we knew that there was something wrong. Well then, I heard the conversation, and they wanted to know, in profanity, how the son-of-a-b*tch got there. How did it get there? How did it get through the perimeter? So then they were communicating with the vessels that were on the perimeter, there were destroyers out there and everything else, and they couldn’t figure it out. Admiral Wellings said, I believe that’s he’s probably been sitting here waiting for us. He probably plotted our course and just dropped to the bottom and waited till we came by, and then he came up underneath us. And he just followed us, and it was just a Russian sub, is what we anticipated. And they figured that they knew it was a Russian sub. Yeah. And it did. It stayed with us. And then what really became scary is that I remember the admiral telling the captain, We don’t have to worry if he’s directly under us. If he drops back into firing range, then we have to worry. By then, the other ships were doing crisscrosses in front and in back of us. These are the little destroyers. And sure enough, he did, he dropped back, I don’t know how far, I remember they had it plotted, and he was within firing range. And so then I just, I don’t know, something really bothered me and really happened to me mentally, because I just said [to myself], this whole thing’s over now, we’re through, we’re done with. And I guess I kind of convinced myself that that was going to happen.
Interviewer: And this is prior to arriving in the Pacific.
Stuparich: Yeah, we were on our way.
Interviewer: So, just to get a sense of it, you’re well aware of what you’ve got on board?
Stuparich : Oh yeah, because I’d already been down in the hole and they’d told us what it was. Yeah, and then you’ve got a— Got this sub, and believe it or not, not very many people knew about it. I mean surprisingly, people were telling Bob [Robert W. Mackenzie] he was crazy. You don’t know what you’re talking about. There was no submarine. Well, I know there was. And when I mentioned it to Bob last year he said, Thank God somebody else knows. And what we’re trying to do is find a third Marine who was on the bridge, but there may not have been a Marine on the bridge.

Mackenzie account:
Interviewer: So explain to me how much you knew about the mission or what you thought or what’s that like?
Mackenzie : We didn’t know anything about it, frankly. You know, I realized that it was more than just a mission. Now by that time, Mary, the Korean War was over with. We were steaming out in ’54? Yes, January of ’54 is when we left San Diego. And Korea had been over for about six months, but the Cold War was extremely hot then. And when I first realized that there was more going on than we realized is when we had full wartime conditions on the ship. And I’d thought, Well, what are we doing here? The ship’s all blacked out at night. We’ve got all these red lights on you see in the movies, like those submarine movies, everybody running and all those red lights on at night. And heavy, heavy drapes in front of every hatch. And you don’t go outside, or as they say, out on the decks without closing that, and then you open the hatch and a red light comes on, then you close the hatch. And they were conscious of sound, of lights. And I said, What’s going on here? You know. And so when I really realized there was more going on is when I was on orderly duty for the admiral. And I was on duty and on duty and on duty and I just couldn’t stand up anymore. So I called somebody in the Marine detachment and said, Well, when is my relief going to be here? It was real late at night, it was like eleven or twelve o’clock, I’d gone on that morning at 6:30, and I’d been standing all day long. That’s what you do. And I just got so I couldn’t stand anymore. So I called down and I was told that the admiral only wanted me and there would be no relief, So just stick it out, Mackenzie. I wasn’t real happy about that. But anyway, so—and I’ll put this right on tape—so a Marine never sits down on duty, but I did. I couldn’t stand up anymore. So I found a chair in an empty officer’s stateroom and I wedged that chair in a real narrow hallway that went into the admiral’s quarters, and I put my feet against the bulkhead and I rocked back and I just kind of rocked with the ship. At least I was off my feet, and I figured nobody could get by me. So I guess, I don’t know if I dozed off or what, but all I know is this sailor was shaking my arm. It was about 2:30, three o’clock in the morning. And he says, “Wake up the admiral! Wake up the admiral!” And I said,”Well, who are you? What do you mean, wake up the admiral? It’s three o’clock in the morning.” [And he said], “Oh, they want him on the bridge right now”. And I said, “Who wants him on the bridge?” [And he said], “Well, the officers, blah, blah, and all that”. I said, “Well, what is your name?” And he gave me his name, and I said, “What’s the officer’s name?” I really realized we were very, very conscious and were trained to be suspicious of everything. I don’t know who this guy is. He wants to go in and see the admiral? That’s my job. Nobody goes in to see the admiral. And so anyway I said, “Well, I’ll go wake up the admiral and you go back and report to the bridge, and I’m sure the admiral will be right there”. I didn’t want him to go in with me. And so anyway, he left. So now I’m saying, How do you wake up an admiral? You know. I wanted to do it maybe like I was back in back in boot camp and scream, say, “Hit the deck”! I says, well, no, I didn’t want to go to the brig, so I didn’t do that. So anyway I said, Well, how do you wake up an admiral? So anyway, I woke him up. And I remember he said, “What is it, Mackenzie?” And he was startled. And I said, “Sir, the admiral’s presence is requested on the bridge immediately”. You don’t want to say “immediately” to an admiral, but I did. Anyway, he looked at me, and he had a phone right next to his bunk. And I always wondered, if he had phone, why didn’t they just call him? I don’t know. You know, you would wonder. And so anyway, he picked up his phone. And like I said, the respect from the naval officers, they’re just really something, Mary, they really are. And so he went up on the deck with his blue terrycloth bathrobe on.
Interviewer: He picks up the phone and confirms?
Mackenzie: Right. And then he puts on his blue bathrobe— He doesn’t even get dressed. Oh no. They want him right now [sound of fingers snapping]. So I thought, Whoo, something’s going on. So I go up there, and it was like an old World War II movie. At my age, I grew up with those World War II movies, you know. And on the bridge, all the lights are out because we’re running at wartime conditions at night, and you can just see the shadows, you know, and those were from the glowing of the instruments and the people moving around the bridge and all that. And right away, the officer in charge of the bridge came up, and everybody was whispering. I thought, What is all this whispering about? You know. And he was talking to the admiral. And that’s part of the job of being an orderly. You’re there but you don’t get too close because if you do—
Interviewer: You’ll hear?
Mackenzie: You don’t want to hear. And the admirals will let you know, and so will the captains. If you’re a little too close to them, they’ll give you one of those, turn their head around, you kind of back up. You realize you’re a little too close. They want to be guarded. They don’t want anybody to get them. That’s your job is to protect them, help them in any way you can, so forth. But anyway, and you’ll kind of back up. But I wanted to hear what was going on, you know. So then all I heard was “submarine.” I thought, Well, so what? You know. But anyway, it turns out that we were being shadowed by a Russian sub.
Interviewer: For real?
Mackenzie: For real. And the sub was directly under us [slaps hands together] like this. And they picked it up. Because I thought, well, how did it get through our screen? We were in a complete convoy, and we had carriers, we had destroyers, we had everything. And I thought, How did this guy get through all that? And they tell me what they do is they know where you’re going. They just sit down at the bottom and wait till you get there and just [slapping hands together] pop up. They don’t have to go through any screens. And I said, Oh.
Interviewer: Oh. So they know from –
Mackenzie: Sure, they know. Yes. They probably knew, with all the spies and all that.
But anyway, the admiral asked several questions, and I guess before, he asked them if they had contact with somebody. And they said,”No, sir, we thought we’d wait for the admiral”, and all that. And he said, “Well, you should’ve. Did you contact anybody to tell them what the situation was? How have you tried to contact the sub?” Evidently they have an international language they use. Then of course they used Russian and they used everything, and no response. And so I always was kidding Kari because this was dramatic, you know. I always said, Whooo, thirty seconds from World War III. Well,
that’s the way you think of it later, but it’s very true. But the thing that I still remember today is when the admiral walked on the bridge, you get almost like this, your daddy had come home to save you or something. That man had a presence about him. He wasn’t tall in stature. And his name was [RADM H.C.] Bruton. I’m sure he’s gone now. But he walked on that bridge and all of a sudden, you could just—everybody, like, The admiral’s here, we’re going to be all right. You know. And you could feel that. And he asked just a few questions. And the sub, and they were waiting for the reply to come back, Do we take action? Do we take evasive action? Now it’s pretty hard to blow up a submarine when it’s right under you. What do you do, when you think about it? How do you get a sub from under us? But we had submarines with us, too, our subs. And so it came back, they were waiting for the reply to come back, and I thought, My God, this is more serious than I realized. You know, it was kind of like a game until then, you know, it was just wartime conditions. I mean we didn’t think anything about this kind of stuff. And so we knew security was extremely tight. Only certain people could go by us, then go into certain compartments, and I’ll tell you about that in a minute. But anyway, back to the sub. And so it broke away. And you know you say “broke away,” where’d it go? It just broke away. And the admiral, they said—sonar reported or whatever and said, The sub has broken away. They must’ve known how many seconds they had. Later I saw a Tom Clancy movie about that, where they were checking and there were seconds and all, and I said, My golly, I saw the same thing in 1954, except for real, you know. So they said it broke away, and the admiral just calm as could be and he says, Carry on, men, you did a good job. If you need me, call, and he went back and went to bed. And I said [to myself], My gosh, it was almost—it was like nothing to him. He was so in command, just knew what he was doing, asked the right questions, congratulated everybody for the job they did, and went back to bed. Now I’m wide awake. I didn’t sit down anymore for the rest of the night. But I never told any of the guys about it. I just told that guy, one of our fellow Marines, November the tenth. It was the Marine Corps birthday. We all got together here at Dana Point. And I told him the submarine story and he says, “What submarine?” I said, “The submarine”. He said,” Well, I didn’t know anything about any submarine.” And I remembered, I’d thought about it, “Well, why should I worry the guys?” And not only that, if something happened when I was on orderly duty, you don’t pass that around the ship. That’s a confidence between you and the admiral. And so I didn’t pass it on.
Interviewer: I have a couple of questions about this. You’re aware in real time, then, that it is a submarine.
Mackenzie: Absolutely. Because you’re hearing the conversation.
Interviewer: Right. It makes me wonder, as I’m listening to the story, if they had you on duty for all this time, would there have been some knowledge of some kind of danger, that they didn’t let you leave orderly duty? Do you make a connection between the fact that the sub was there and the fact that you had to be on duty for so long? That makes you wonder.
Mackenzie: Well, I don’t know. It does, Mary. I never thought about it that way. I don’t think so. I just really think the reason I was left on duty so long is that we were new at our jobs, and they just didn’t realize that when you’re on orderly duty, you’re attached [slapping hands together], you know, at the hip. And not only that, is the admiral doesn’t want to walk out and say, What’s your name? You know, he wants somebody that he can trust and could read him before he says it. I could tell what he wanted. He was looking around and so I call somebody and say, Hey, the skipper’s out of coffee. You better get some in there. See? So you’re his confidant. He’ll say, Well, how are the men thinking? Because he’s some concerned about the morale, or whatever. So you’re his sounding board. Every admiral’s different. Some really use their orderlies. I’ve had admirals when I reported, they’d say, “Well, I’m a little low on cigars, Mackenzie. Why don’t you go down and get me cigars?” Well, I don’t say, ”What kind do you smoke?” So I’d go down and ask the guy to open up the place where you buy the cigars, what’d we call that? Commissary, I think. And they used to question it. And they’d just say, “Well, you sure these are the kind of cigars you smoke, Mackenzie?” And I said, “These are for the skipper.” And he said, “I don’t think so”. And I said, “Really? Why don’t you call and ask him?” [And he’d say], “Oh, OK”. And so that kind of a thing. So, interesting. But anyway, I never did pass that submarine story on to the troops.
Interviewer: That’s so interesting. That’s interesting.
Mackenzie: And so then, now, as time goes by, Mary, as I watch the History Channel and Discovery Times Channel, all these things are coming back to me. And our main concern was frogmen. We were very afraid of frogmen. And so we figured if they came aboard the ship, how they’d come aboard the ship, what we would do, you know, if one did come on. But I never thought about mines or bombs attached to the ship, and now I think about it. Can you imagine if they could’ve got to our ship, and we had people on their like [J. Robert] Oppenheimer and had all those scientists on there? We had fifty-eight scientists on the ship. We had all the bombs on the ship. I mean what a coup that’d meant for the Russians if our ship accidentally sunk, hit a reef or something, or something went off. You know, you can just see it all right now. It’d be another Cold War incident.
Interviewer: But you don’t know that you’re carrying bombs at this point, or do you?
Mackenzie: Yes, we did. We knew we were carrying pieces of the bombs.
Interviewer: You did.
Mackenzie: Yes. Yes. Because security was so tight, it had to be something like that, when only the admiral and two or three people could go in there. And then we timed them, how long they were in, who they were with, they signed in, they signed out. They had a badge with their photograph on it. The badges were made by, at that time, the Atomic Energy Commission [AEC], and they were watermarked with all the same intensity and security as our money. And the admiral would have his picture on there. And I didn’t just look on his shirt. I had to take it off his shirt, which you don’t like to touch an admiral or a captain. It’s just this—you’ve got that—this little [feeling] like, “Hi, God”- that feeling. And you’d take off his badge like that and hold it up right next to his face, make sure you got a really good look at it, and you’d flip it over and check the watermarks, check the number on it. And when I was on, I’d have a check-off list, and his name better be on there. In fact, our own commanding officer forgot to put his name on there and our guys wouldn’t let him in the post. He said, ”What do you mean?” They said, “You’re not on the list, sir.” [And he said], “Well, you know who I am. I’m Captain [James] Brannaman, your commanding officer.” [They] say, “Sir, we been instructed, if your name isn’t on the list, you don’t get on this post”. And the guys loved doing it to him. He wasn’t real happy but.
Interviewer: Oh, I’m sure. Who was this captain again?
Mackenzie: Captain Brannaman. He’s still alive. Stanford graduate. Super sharp guy. About six-five or so, something like that. Nice man.
Interviewer: I’m not well-versed in military things. Is it usual for an admiral to be on the ship?
Mackenzie: No. Now the admiral on any operation, the admiral has what he calls his flagship, and he can change his flag when he wants. The Curtiss was an unusual ship, Mary, because it was designed as a seaplane tender, 1939, something like that. It was hit at Pearl Harbor, went all the way through World War II, ended up with seven battle stars. Then after that, the Atomic Energy Commission grabbed it and then converted it for all the testing. So the Marine captain isn’t like a Navy captain. What’s confusing to everybody, and it was to me, too, the captain of the ship, the Navy ship, doesn’t have to be a captain. That’s his job title. OK, and now the Marine captain is a captain and he’s in charge of the Marines.
Interviewer: So this is the Marine captain you’re talking about.
Mackenzie: The Marine captain, right.
Interviewer: Got it. Not the captain of the ship.
Mackenzie: Not the ship captain—that’s right.

2024.06.01 09:40 jtuttle923 when is enough enough

When is enough going to be enough, from the route 91 shooting to parkland florida and so many others. People just need to lean on God and Jesus and Remember the virtues they taught us, like treat othe like you would like to be treated and love thy neighbor and thou shall not murder. I am thankful that God has blessed my family and kept each and everyone of them safe. Thank you o lord . May other learn to live in peace as many of us have learned, for an example my juggalo family love each other and respect one another and we help each other even if we anit blood were still family, whoop whoop. May God bless everyone who reads this and help them to live in harmony with one another. When will enough be enough. When will we get mental health background checks before people can buy guns and why do we need anything bigger than a shot gun to protect ourselves, like Robin Williams said what is their some big deer in the forest with abullet proof vest on going hay let's party this is for my brother who's hanging in a bar in Kentucky. Rest in peace. I pray that everyone learns that others are not to blame for your problems, nor is their religion or skin color or their attitude that is responsible for your problems, you are the only one who has control over your situation and you are the only one who can do anything about your situation. Grow up and be a real human being not a whiney little complainer who blames everyone else for their problems. In the emortal words of Rodney king " can't we all just get along ". I would like to thank all of the the brave frist responders who have saved countless lives during all of the tragic mass shootings in the country. Thank you all for your bravery. I hope that one day congress learns that we need laws that work not laws that work for the gun lobby or manufacturers or big corporations but for all of us. God I pray that you put some sense into our politicians to make better decisions about the world. I pray these things in Jesus name Amen.🙏 ✌️@❤️.

2024.06.01 06:49 SimsAreShims Paul Tremblay and Leaving it to the Reader's Imagination/Interpretation

Let me apologize in advance: I'm going to be a bit of a hater here. Also, spoilers ahead.
In general, I hate open ended stories (be it books, movies, whatever). It comes across to me as lazy, as if the author didn't know how to end, so they got vague about it. This is a personal preference, sure, but it's one I feel very strongly about. To clarify, I do not need the story to be wrapped up in a nice, neat little bow, where everyone has a happy ending. A story can "finish" before it "ends".
What the hell do I mean by this?
Take, for example, Stephen King's The Long Walk. Major spoilers: Even though Garraty wins, he doesn't accept it, and starts running. We don't get a whole lot of world building to find out how the Long Walk became a thing, we don't follow Garraty after this, and thus we have no idea what happens, but the story is done. Extending it or explaining it wouldn't enhance the story; if anything, writing more would probably bring the horror elements down. The story was finished even though it didn't "end".
Back to Tremblay.
My first exposure to him was of course Cabin at the End of the World. This was before the movie, and it should have been RIGHT up my alley. World ending story that also contains references to religion? Hell yeah! Except, Holy hell, I could not read this thing for the life of me. The book starts off from the y y/o daughter, Wen's POV; she talks about her life, what it's like being adopted, taking language classes. She's in the yard organizing grasshoppers by size and giving them names and writing down what she thinks their genders are and OH MY GOD WHEN IS THIS STORY ACTUALLY STARTING??? At that point, I decided to try to skip ahead. Tremblay was verbose in other parts, so I tried to skip ahead. I ended up mostly going through the dialogue, reading more if it seemed relevant, and was left disappointed. I think the story really would have been enhanced by exploring the backgrounds of the four visitors, but, from what I did read, that didn't happen.
I checked the Wikipedia page to see if it was worth going back and trying again, but the ending If it was the end of the world was left kinda ambiguous. I could see an argument where The planes crashing is too much of a coincidence, so yes it is, plus the movie changed it to flat out saying it's the end of the world, but it just came across as so lazy to me. If anything, I think making the ending unambiguous would make the story better. It doesn't need to go on for much longer, but explaining what the "answer" is, in either case of the world ending or not, would reframe the rest of the story and make it better.
But maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I read someone say on here that there is a lot of subtlety in Tremblay's writing, and maybe that would have explained it more if I didn't skip to just the dialogue, so I decided to give him another chance by reading Growing Things and Other Stories, a collection of short stories. Warning: No more spoiler tags after this.
The collection starts withe the titular story Growing things, where there are deadly vines growing in the world. The dad leaves his daughters to go out to look for supplies. He explicitly says that if there is a knock at the door, don't answer it, because it means it's the end of the world. And at the end of the story, there's a knock at the door! The girls go upstairs to avoid the knocking and the vines that have invaded the house, and that's it. I guess this one has an ending: the world ends, and the daughters are waiting to die. Details of their death are left to the reader's imagination, as is any details of the vines, as is a lot of background of the characters. I know nothing, and not in a good way. Let's try the next one.
Swim wants to Know if It's as Bad as Swim Thinks. We start off with the unnamed protagonist working her job at a grocery store, where people are crowding the store trying to buy their items. The protagonist's coworker is talking about something coming out of the water. Protagonist says it's just a movie trailer. Protagonist goes on message boards about consuming meth, so we know she's an unreliable narrator. Not a problem, as this is not quite the same as an open-ended story. She kidnaps her daughter, who she does not have custody of, and takes her to a place from her childhood to be safe with her daughter. But she's following patterns from when she last took her daughter while she was under the influence. She has a gun, and it seems like the police have found her. So she might kill her daughter, and I guess actually there's no monster. Ironically, this story has a lot more world building than the previous one, but it's still left open ended in a way that doesn't contribute to any fear or thrill of the story.
Next up: Something About Birds. To write this review, I re-borrowed this book online from the library to refresh my memory. It wasn't until stumbling upon the ending that I even remembered I read this story, because it elicited absolutely no strong emotion in me, not even distaste. I don't remember it, skimming through doesn't remind me of what happened, so I can't properly comment on it. Same deal with the next story, Snapshot. Looking through the table of contents and skimming through the next several stories (minus Teacher, more on that later), it looks like I skipped reading a lot of them, until I got to "It's Against the Law to Feed the Ducks." Intriguing name, I like animals, so I read this one.
This story is from the POV of the young son, Danny. They go to the beach, which is weirdly empty. When back at the cottage, the parents watch some TV, presumably the news, and are horrified; they get Danny out of the room so they can keep watching. Next day, they go to the grocery store, where it's empty, but people have overflowing grocery carts. Remember from earlier, this is a bad sign. Electronics are also down, as dad has to pay with a check. Another day, another trip to the grocery store; this time, the cashier lets them take the groceries without bothering to count it (another sign!), and Dad fills up the car with gas and gets extra gas cannisters. More TV watching, except in the empty restaurant, where the parents ask to have the TV turned off because of the kids. The story ends with the reason why the title is what it is: it's against the law to feed the ducks, which they obey at the beginning, but not the end, because the world is ending. We never learn what is happening, which makes sense if the POV is from a child, but that doesn't add to the horror. There's no horror from the kid's POV, just confusion. The reader is supposed to understand that Bad ShitTM is going down, but without any details, I quite frankly don't know why I should care. This is essentially a story about buying groceries and watching TV, bookended by ducks.
Of the stories I've described thus far, we get the whole end-of-the-world theme repeated, without anymore details, without any real ending, and without me caring. The one exception is Teacher, which I liked so much, I read it thrice: the first time, a second time when I remembered it existed, and then I read it again fully to write this review, rather than skimming it.
The story starts with an introduction to Mr. Sorent, the cool teacherTM. He has long hair and plays guilets the highschool seniors talk about more controversial topics like drugs and abortion, and has some days has SpecialTM lessons, which has the same rule as Fight Club: you do not talk about Fight Club Special lessons. In the first one, he shows a video of a daycare/preschool, where a teacher is spinning around with a child and accidentally lets go. Mr. Sorent stops the video, and then moves it frame by frame until a wall comes into view. That is the end of the first special lesson.
Time passes, more special lessons. More disturbing videos, a guest who reflects on how awful it is to have a disease and be used as inspiration porn, all of which end with the video moving a few frames. The protagonist, Kate, tells a story about when she was a kid, and she was forced to watch some boys mutilate a dead frog, and how it affected her baseball game. As the SpecialTM lessons bring down the students' academic lives, their personal lives and kate's family life deteriorate as well. The story ends with Kate trying to prevent the video from finishing using the same coping mechanism she used after watching the frog get mutilated: She volunteers for a demonstration, and moves forward without opening her eyes, hoping that if she doesn't, the film will never finish, and the accident with the child will never occur.
So what makes Teacher stand out from the others?
Tremblay actually talks about what's happening; we're shown the progression of the class, the reason why it's happening. There's no mystery of what's on the TV, or why the students are acting the way they are. The why is clear: they're being taught disturbing life lessons from a teacher they used to trust and admire. Sure, we don't actually know if they ever finish watching the video, or what happens after, but it doesn't matter, because the story isn't about that. It's about the students, and we see their arc, as they go from normal teenagers to depressed and cynical teenagers.
In the other works I've mentioned so far, we mostly get that the world is ending (or the addict mother thinks it is), but we don't know how. Considering that the end of the world is what's moving the stories along, IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL. Even in Cabin, where the horror is that the family is trapped in a deadly situation, knowing whether or not there's any truth to the visitor's reason for coming to the cabin would enhance the story. Compare to King's The Mist: book ends ambiguously, movie ends tragically, and even King says the movie ending was better. But with Tremblay, time that could be used for learning more about the visitors and if it's the end of the world is instead used on organizing grasshoppers.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Next time I'm here, I'll try not to write in a faux manic state while mildly sleep deprived at 5 am.

New! Alamo County Roleplay, 17+, Needing Staff and Members!

About us,

We are a roleplaying community based in California, inspired by Florida, Texas, and Nevada. Our community is proudly led by veterans and sworn officers, who bring their expertise and dedication to our group. We strive to create a fair and welcoming environment where members can learn about and enjoy the world of law enforcement and the military. Through fair instruction and a supportive atmosphere, we aim to educate and engage all who share this common hobby.

Our background,

We are a group of experienced roleplayers who have been part of many communities, most of which have closed or been abandoned. In our journey, we’ve found that many FiveM communities lack effective leadership and a culture of mutual respect. To address this, we founded Alamo County Roleplay on principles of respect, fair treatment, and experience.

Age Requirement?

We prefer that our members are 17+ but will make exceptions to those who will provide valuable skills to our roleplay community.

2024.06.01 01:27 DeathCoffins1 How many days should I wait?

Got my conditional offer this morning and I accepted of course, but haven’t got anything back regarding a background check or fingerprints. I know prints are only good for 90 days, but I’m unsure about background checks. I did both background and prints about 7 months ago for the job I have now.So my question is, how long should I wait until I get ahold of hr and see what’s up? The last time I did it I got the background email about a half hour after I accepted. I’m still employed with the usps and the job I’m getting is in the same plant so it is as easy as just walking upstairs to speak with someone. I just don’t want to seem needy, even though I’m needing this switch more than ever and want to get it started lol.
