This a rant post. I didn't really see a rant flair.
But Oh My God, I think I am going crazy, I haven't really seen a bad review on this book, everyone seems to love love love it. Normally, I stay away from any book booktok loves but this one was our book of the month in my bookclub and people loved it. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to yuck everyone's yum. Plus I'd be the odd man out.
Let me first say, I DNF'd it, which I tried my best to make it work but it just didn't. I did listen to a podcast where they talked about 90% of what happened.
I feel like every bad character there was just two-dimensional and lacked motivation. I know some people are bad just for being bad but c'mon not like that.
Let's start with the mum, not a good woman at all. Shitty mother to boot. Your husband died and one of his last wishes and the thing you know he would've wanted to see most was his daughter making it to scribe quadrant. You waited for the old guy to bugger off to heaven and then you were like to your own daughter who has thought/wanted all her life to be in the scribe quadrant 'welk, sucks to be you, your dad's dead, go where you'll die instead'
If she had a problem with it, while not make it know while the man was alive and years before,, so everyone will know she's not okay with it, not at the last moment, 3 months before basically. Where people take 2 years to train, she took 3 months. She has a iffy condition that wasn't really addressed well and she doesn't even want to be there. It's like giving everyone else an Excalibur to enter a forbidden forest and giving your own DAUGHTER (that you have no hope in btw) a bread knife and say 'well there you go'
No to mention she recently lost a son to that quadrant, a son that could fight very well, is it so easy for her to lose children? And she doesn't want anyone to bring it up, well, excuse me while I dig it right out of the ground ma'am because who does that.
This is the same quadrant where children of traitors get sent to in hopes that they'd die and you're sending your unwilling daughter there? I could go on and on but I won't. Bottom line: She didn't love her husband and she doesn't love her last born. She's a horrible mother.
Now to Jack Harlow, sorry Barlow, such a one dimensional character if I've ever seen one. No motivation in life except Hate Violet, that his whole reason for existence. I think he was the same smirking guy that I couldn't handle, every two seconds he was just smirking, no other facial expression, just smirking. Argh!
Even when you'd think self-preservation and common sense (this doesn't only apply to him by the way even Violet too and those kids that were talking smack in front of the dragons) should win, it doesn't. He doesn't want to become a rider as much as he wants to kill Violet. Simple.
Dain Aetos, the stereotypical, good guy turned bad, except the path was so linear yet so confusing it would've harder to have made him a good guy because then there'd be actual emotional depth required of Violet in order to choose.
What exactly is his motivation for being bad? Jealousy? What? I seriously do not get it. Why did he go from a stickler to the rules, to someone who mind rapes his friend that he doesn't even believe in (had to believe someone who's sticks to the rules as much as he does would do that)
His whole character was also 'Violet, you should be here, I'll get you out regardless of what you want', 'you have superpowers, cool, don't use them, I'll get you out', 'youre so weak and so dumb, I'll get you out'.
To Xander, or was it Xaden, bad guy who was never for a single page of the book actually bad. This isn't enemies to lovers, it's who you think would be enemies but they aren't to lovers. The 'bad' boy that carries the world on his shoulders as a teen but someone manages to fall for a girl he would risk it all for, as per he's a teen.
Ohhhhhhh and Violet, Violence, Sorrengail. Or rather Violent, I have self-control issues, Sorrengail. Every single time she's in the vicinity of two guys all she can think about is Sex. No shame, no self control, no reading the room or the seriousness at hand just sex sex sex sex.
V: Oh Grandma what ripped, toned, sleek muscles you have. G: The better to sex you with dear.
Oh and I have to say this. She has a somewhat bad attitude, there i said it. I know it's meant to come off as quirky and someone who will stand for herself but she doesn't even have any backbone to begin with, she can't face her mum or dain as she needs to. Asked Yohanna (insert actual best friend name) to ask a question for her in class. She is also very 'snarky' for some reason. I don't get it. This i don't really feel strongly about because I only got little of it before I dropped the book so I might be wrong or my mind might change.
Also like the host of my podcast said, she suffers from 'never die bitch' syndrome. The only reason she is alive in the book is because she is the main character, that's all. If she was another person show would've have been killed before she made it into the college. She has so much plot armour, a dragon could breathe fire directly onto her and she'd use part of the metal to forge a sword to kill the dragon rather than die.
She has nothing going for her. Isn't the smartest, isn't the strongest (infact she is quite weak as mentioned in the book), isn't the fastest, isn't the most sly, isn't the most 'think on her feet' because she always wants to be horizontal with a guy, isn't the most morally upstanding,
Because come on, you don't want to kill anybody but you feed someone something they're allergic to?? Excuse me? I don't want to shoot him but let me just give poison his food with peanut butter so that way he can go into anaphylaxis and have a probability of dying a painful horrible death.
Isn't the most anything you need to be in order to be a rider. Yet not only one of the only two rarest dragons chose her but for the first time in all of history she got bonded with two dragons. Twoooooo. Howwwwwww???? Whyyyyyyy???
I don't know what they see in her because I am not a dragon, but maybe I do need reptilian eyes because I don't see it and I use glasses. If she did something to deserve it then no problem but she will literally just exist and Bam! Something rare will just fall in her lap.
She has so much plot armour she could sit in her room all day without doing a single thing and those two dragons will fully and come and see her and choose her. So much plot armour she could go alone to the face a 1000 griffins in war and they'd all bond to her.
The end.
Feel free to say why you loved it but i'm not looking for arguments. Everything was off for me in this book. But then again, I don't usually like most Y/A fantasy novels that they adopt into series (and it seems like this one might be too), so this is on par for me. If you have a Y/A fantasy novel that is not recommended by booktok and you don't think will be developed into a netflix series, fell free to recommend.

2024.06.02 11:03 Drama8603 I need help from PSP experts

I need help understanding what the hell is going on with my psp, I've looked for answers everywhere for YEARS and never found anyone with the same problem as me. (EXTREMELY LONG POST,PROCEED WITH CAUTION, i wanna get every detail out but there's tldr at the bottom)
So my old PSP2000 (from 2008) stopped working around 2017. In 2015 i need to plug in the charger before i could turn it on and then i could unplug it and leave it unplugged, in 2016 i pretty much need to have it plugged in for it to be on, i assume it was the battery that was problematic, ever since I've always played it plugged without battery and there's like 0 problems, but later on in 2017, anytime i tried to turn it on, the green light would turn on, the screen stays black and like 5 seconds later i would hear a pop sound, and during this pop the light on the left would also turn on briefly and then the psp turns off, whenever i unplug and replug the charger back in, the green light would AUTOMATICALLY turn on, screen stays black, pop, turns off. This whole thing repeats and after a while the green light wouldn't even turn on, and nothing happens when i flick the switch up.
Here's the confusing part, i assume my psp was done for back then so i left it in the closet for 6 years until summer last year (2023), when i dug it up, plugged the charger in, flick the switch up, and guess what, IT WORKS AGAIN. I was confused as to what kind of sorcery is this, but the more confusing part is that i put the original battery on (which is from 2008), and IT WORKED FINE, it last for like 2 and a half hours, my PSP was now working again as intended and i was so happy!
Until later that year in October, i was casually playing when suddenly the screen flickered black and the psp turned off! so i flicked the switch up, nothing happened, i tried to plug the PSP again and the curse from 2017 returns, the green light would turn, screen stays black, pop, turns off.
I am honestly so mind boggled about what's going on with my psp, when i realize it doesn't work again i put it back in the closet, a month later, i dug it up again, plugged the charger in again, flicked the switch up, and guess what? IT WORKED AGAIN... for like 2 minutes, at this point i have a suspicion that it has something to do with how long i left it off, but is it really the case? either way i left it off again for another month and today i dug it up again, and hey it turns on... for like 2 minutes.
So does leaving the PSP off has anything to do with it? this is the only conclusion i could draw, when i left it off for 6 years it worked PERFECTLY FINE for four months, when i left it off for weeks/months it turned on only for minutes, any time less than that causes it to pop and turns off. Someone please tell what's going on
(TLDR) When i plug my psp charger in(without Battery), the green light would turn on but the screen stays black, after 5 seconds there would be a pop sound and the lights on the left side of the psp would turn on and immediately after, the psp would turn off, unplugging and replugging the charger causes the green light to AUTOMATICALLY turn on(without me flicking the switch up) and after five seconds it pop and turns off, the process would repeat until the green doesn't turn on anymore when i replug the charger. If i leave the psp off long enough (like a month) it would actually turn on but only for like 2 minutes or less and then it would turn off, after that the whole process repeats, what is going on?

2024.06.02 11:01 desh_thiere Animal Kaiser cabinet parts.

Hey everyone,
I picked up an Animal Kaiser cabinet with the Evo 1 version of the game in it. It has no IC card, so the game wasn't booting, but it was booting to the test screen fine.
I bought the cabinet to convert into a small form factor 2-player MAME cab. I know, probably going to annoy some people, but I've literally never played Animal Kaiser in my life, I just love the small form factor mini candy cab. It was cheap and local, so I grabbed it for a project.
I have a whole bunch of parts I have stripped from the machine and am wondering if they would be of any use to people. I have the original working gameboard, artwork marquee plastics, buttons and plastic covers, card readers and more. No cards came with the machine, aside from a couple of badly damaged ones that were stuck in the card reader.
If anyone is interested in anything, shoot me a PM. I have no idea what any of this stuff is worth, or even if it's worth anything at all. However, I thought asking here might be a place to start.
Thanks for any help.

2024.06.02 11:01 AutoModerator Weekly iOS Battery Support Megathread

General advice for those concerned about their battery from the Support FAQ Wiki:
Battery health
Battery health depends on usage and a variety of other factors. It is normal to see a decrease in battery health by 7-10% per year, resulting in a battery health of 80-85% after 2 years. This number can fluctuate, remain the same, or decrease quickly over a small period and should not cause undue concern.
Apple recommend battery replacement when your device falls below 80% battery health if you notice reduced battery life. If it falls below 80% within the first year you may be eligable for a free battery replacement. It fails after your warranty, it's a $69-$89 USD replacement cost for a battery. Contact Apple Support here.
You can find more information about battery health and performance from Apple here.
You can check the cycles count with Coconut Battery for Mac or iCopyBot for Windows.

Battery life
Issues relating to battery life can be categorised in three ways:
  1. Normal battery life that is to be expected due to use
  2. Reduced battery life caused by a recent update, iOS indexing, an iOS bug, or a third-party application
  3. Reduced battery life, or other abnormalities such as overheating or sudden power-off, caused by device or battery aging
If you experience issues with your battery:
  1. Check your battery health. If it is below 80% or you are experiencing issues you suspect are related to device or battery age, see Apple Support.
  2. If you have a new or recently updated/restored device, wait a number of days for background process to complete. If you continue to have issues, wait for a further iOS update. If you are on iOS Beta, you can expect to have a decreased battery life.
  3. Review the advice below on maximising battery life
  4. Consider restoring your device.
  5. If issues persist, contact Apple Support.

Maximising battery life - the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged.

Maximising battery lifespan - the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced.

🔗AGM Global Vision Rattler 870 Scope Mount for Quick Release Optics

https://preview.redd.it/sdntqisxh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51a2aabfc12e6342c20554c25fd9069a88558f7e
As a diehard fan of shooting sports, I was thrilled to give the AGM Global Vision Low Base Single Lever QR Mount a whirl. This neat little gadget is compatible with both AGM Rattler and Neith devices.
In terms of installation, it couldn't be simpler; no tools are required. It's sturdy and lightweight, crafted from the aluminum of dreams. The perfect blend of precision and practicality, this scope mount will surely become a mainstay in your hunting rig.
But like all great things, the mount has a few quirks. Sometimes, the single lever may act a bit tricky requiring a gentle nudge to ensure tightness, and it doesn't quite fit all Picatinny or Weaver mounts. Overall, it's a decent addition to any rig that you'll probably won't regret.

🔗Compact Thermal Imaging Clip-On Sight for Rifle Scopes

https://preview.redd.it/g2yiat7yh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3eb2a36b42da140143ccedde1938c8a014f059fe
The AGM Rattler TC35-384 has become my trusted companion during my evening hunts. The device's quick conversion feature transforms my daytime optics into a thermal imaging scope without any hassle. The 17um high sensitivity detector, combined with a 384x288 thermal resolution, ensures clear images even in harsh environments, like darkness, fog, or smoke.
Noteworthy features include the 748x561 resolution 0.39-inch OLED display that helps me stay focused on my target. The built-in EMMC (16 GB) allows me to record videos and snapshots without worrying about storage limitations.
Adjusting the color palette helps me differentiate between various animals and terrains. The external power supply capability ensures the device doesn't drain my rifle scope's battery life. I have found great success with this device during my patrols and hunts, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable thermal imaging clip-on system.

🔗AGM Front Q-R Adapter for Rattler TC35: Installation Solution for Scopes

https://preview.redd.it/bkwewblyh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cbfc919313f7c3b512e0eb074f68e8e0dbd9cbd
I bought the AGM Rattler TC35 Front QR Adapter to add some versatility to my day scope. It took me only 6 weeks to notice a significant improvement in my outdoor activities.
The adapter is really easy to use, and I appreciate the variety of optional adapters for different lens diameters. However, I did face some drawbacks - it's not suitable for firearms with heavy recoil, and it doesn't work with scopes having focus rings around the housing of the objective lens.
But overall, the AGM Rattler TC35 Front QR Adapter has made a positive impact on my experience with the day scope.

🔗Compact and Quiet 2.25HP Folding Treadmill - Easy Setup for Healthy Home Workout

https://preview.redd.it/ju89dlyyh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4757e4f4fcb88a5a62adb6abb68f3b5820b59f3
Imagine walking or running in your office or at home, without taking up too much space, and all while keeping an eye on your stats. That's where this 2 in 1 folding treadmill comes in. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's been a game-changer. The powerful yet quiet 2.25HP motor lets you move with ease, while the dual display screen keeps you informed of your speed, distance, time, and calories.
One thing that stood out was how compact it was when folded away. It truly fits under any desk or in a tight corner. But don't let its smaller size fool you - it's sturdy and can handle up to 265 lbs. Additionally, the bluetooth speaker built-in adds a nice touch of convenience.
However, there are a couple of areas where it could use improvement. The 74 lbs weight may seem a bit heavy for some, and it could be more convenient if the handle attachments were easier to detach. But overall, I've had a positive experience with this treadmill and would recommend it for anyone looking to add a touch of fitness to their everyday life.

🔗Carbon Fiber Fly Reel with Advanced Features

https://preview.redd.it/kdr7djhzh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5916ee95d4db0dec8be94b7455b38d35c0085c6c

The Duckett Paradigm Sri Spinning Reel is a reliable addition to any angler's gear. With its one-piece forged aluminum frame, it feels sturdy and durable. The weight reduction of the carbon fiber rotor was noticeable, making casting smoother and easier. The precision anti-corrosion Japanese stainless steel bearings gave a near-perfect spin, and the proprietary one-way clutch provided instantaneous reaction for a seamless retrieve.
The sealed carbon fiber drag system was a game-changer. It offered a stable drag force and longer lifespan compared to other systems I've used before. The carbon fiber drag knob was conveniently placed within easy reach for quick adjustments without any frustration.
The cold-forged aluminum spool made the reel smooth and less intrusive when casting, while using the high precision cutting pinion and O/S gear enhanced the overall experience. The high-quality line roller contributed to the great castability and effortless retrieve.
One downside would be the minimal color options, but once you catch a fish with it, the memory of the catch will be unforgettable, regardless of the color. The reel's price tag might feel a bit daunting, but the performance and durability justify the investment.
Overall, the Duckett Paradigm Sri Spinning Reel is a reliable and strong product that enhances a fisherman's experience.

2024.06.02 10:56 LastTimeOn_ The Mexican Federal Election, Explained (Part 1)

It’s officially June 2nd, folks, as I'm submitting this. The Big Day is here not chance the rapper’s wedding, the day of the 2024 Mexican federal elections. Both in-country citizens and those living abroad who registered for the process will be voting (at the very least) for the next President of the Mexican Republic, their state’s Senators and their federal Deputies. Depending on the state they live in, there will also be elections for Governor, local Deputies and Mayors. The total number of positions up to a vote is 20,708 spots, across both federal and local elections, the greatest ever in the history of Mexico. Even though it sounds like a cliché, it’s true – the results of this election will determine Mexico’s course for the near future, and some argue for the rest of the country’s existence.

STRUCTURE OF THE MEXICAN FEDERAL SYSTEM
To understand the importance of what’s at stake we have to start with the basics. For right now I’ll focus on the federal side of the election as I think that’s what most want to learn more about (I’ll bring up state-level issues later; they can still affect the result).
The Mexican federal system is tripartite, divided in the usual way – the President is the executive, the Supreme Court being the figurehead for the judicial branch, and Congress through both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate representing the legislative.
The President is elected via FPTP for only one term lasting six years, called a sexenio. There hasn’t been much actual innovation in the process of voting for the President, aside from the notable shifts in voting tendencies every six years since the 2000 election, which ended the 71-year-long run of the PRI in power. The current president is Andrés Manuel López Obrador, or AMLO as he’s commonly known, elected in 2018.
The Senate is composed of 128 senators. 96 of these come from a majority system and 32 are elected via national proportional representation party lists. Of the 96 majority senators, 64 are elected as winning pairs in each of the 32 states, known as the “first and second formulas.” The remaining 32 are the “first minority” winners, in other words the second placers in the Senate elections. This, alongside the PR senators, is supposed to even the playing field for opposition parties. Senate elections are concurrent with presidential ones, also lasting six years, but they are able to be reelected for one term more.
The Chamber of Deputies, meanwhile, is composed of 500 deputies. 300 of these are the FPTP winners of each of the 300 electoral districts nationwide. The other 200 are PR party-list deputies divided between 5 circumscriptions, or at-large districts. These districts are roughly equivalent in population and roughly represent the 5 main regions of the country – western Mexico, headed by Guadalajara, northern Mexico, headed by Monterrey, southeastern Mexico, headed by Xalapa, the capital of Veracruz, south-central Mexico, headed by Mexico City, and southwestern Mexico, headed by Toluca the capital of Mexico State. Deputy elections are every three years; an elected deputy is able to get reelected for three more terms. These reelection changes were set into law with the 2014 political-electoral reform package and came into practice in 2018 for the 2021 elections, the first time any federal-level politician was allowed to run for continuous reelection since the Mexican Revolution.
All these elections are managed by the National Electoral Institute (INE, its acronym in Spanish). The INE is, quite literally, a superpowered FEC – aside from the basic role of taking note of who is campaigning for what, it controls ballot access, it manages campaign ad times on TV to the second, it makes sure that candidates do not say anything that can be out of electoral law, it sets up the format and the broadcasting of debates…it is the reason that Mexican elections flow (relatively) smoothly.
Alongside the INE stand the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) and the OPLEs, the Local Electoral Public Organisms, creating the entire Mexican electoral system. The Tribunal, as you can guess, is where affected parties (in the legal sense) can go dispute any potential circumstance that affects them. During campaign season this is mostly just “candidate X was a meanie to me – candidate Y” type affairs, but post-election its importance ramps up as it helps resolve close calls in elections – something people say will be especially important this time around. The OPLEs are mini-INEs for each of the 32 states, managing the electoral matters of localities and replicating the faculties of the INE for local elections.
The Mexican electoral system is complex out of post-uniparty distress. Before the IFE (the INE’s precursor), elections were handled by a commission under the purview of the Secretary of Government. You can guess where this goes. It was one of the main ways the PRI held power for so long – elections were free but unfair. During the 1990s when the Mexican system liberalized the creation of an independent electoral agency was one of the main goals, and as far as creating the conditions for fair elections, over the five full sexenios it has existed since 1990, I’d say it has generally succeeded.
The main characters of elections, however, are obviously not the institutions, but the political actors themselves through political parties. This election, there’s seven of them at play.
THE PARTIES (AND THEIR COALITIONS)
For the 2024 election, the seven parties running are divided into two main coalitions and one running a single candidate – Fuerza y Corazón por México, composed by the PRI, PAN and PRD, Sigamos Haciendo Historia, with Morena, PVEM and PT, and Movimiento Ciudadano.
Fuerza y Corazón por México (Strength and Heart for Mexico)
The opposition coalition, composed of the National Action Party (PAN), the Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI), and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). A big-tent coalition, center-left to center-right. Their candidate is former Senator Xóchitl Gálvez.
PAN – The opposition by excellence. Founded in the 40s by a group of lawyers, doctors and other professionals to serve as a balance to the nationalistic policies of the PRI from back then. Due to the Mexican system, it only controlled some municipalities until the election of their first governor in 1989, and from there on, winning the presidency with Vicente Fox in 2000 and repeating with Felipe Calderón in 2006. “Humanistic” according to their doctrine, but conservative according to many you’d ask. More so in the Christian democratic tradition, but their party is still a big tent – from reactionary firebrands like Senator Lilly Téllez to progressive pro-market types like Xóchitl herself.
PRI – The former Mexican dominant party, now a shell of its former self. With 71 years of one-party rule that ended dramatically in 2000, the PRI has shapeshifted over the decades. From standard-bearers of the post-revolutionary cause to nationalistic expropriators, from technocratic liberators to Congressional opposition, from centrist reformers to a second place in this coalition of unequals, it has somehow managed to survive when people announce its demise. With how coalitions are structured in ballots, the desertion of its former clientelist and syndicalist bases to Morena, and the constant kick-outs and self-exiles of politicians who don’t agree with the current party president, however, who knows how many more times the PRI can cheat death before it’s truly over.
PRD – A party that began with a bang and is ending with a whimper. Created from the aftermath of the 1988 election where many believed (and still do) that left-wing candidate Cuauhtemoc Cardenas had his victory stolen, the PRD was, until a few years ago, really a front itself of multiple left-wing groups that constantly squabbled amongst each other. Its main political bastion was Mexico City, where it governed continuously from 1997 to 2018, and southern Mexico in general. Many of its former members and voters moved on to Morena, leaving the party in the hands of a few groups trying to keep it alive. Already it lost its registry in several states, and it’s close to do so nationwide. This might be its last election the PRD runs in.
Sigamos Haciendo Historia (Let’s Keep Making History)
The governing coalition, composed of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico (PVEM), and the Labor Party (PT). Leftist/populist, their candidate is former Mexico City mayor Claudia Sheinbaum.
Morena – AMLO’s personal project, it first started as one of the many groups inside the PRD, only to then spin off when he broke off from that party after the 2012 elections, becoming a civil association in 2013 and officially a party a year later. With AMLO at the forefront, the party got its big break in 2018 by winning the presidency, a majority in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, and several governorships. Only more wins came after that in more states – currently, it holds the governor’s seat in 21 of the 32. Morena’s ideology is…confusing. It can best be described as a populist platform, with a typical class-battle message and lots of focus on marginalized communities of all types. However, it doesn’t really attempt that through typical leftist means, like raising taxes on the wealthy. Instead, it goes for a vaguely Norquistian “starve the beast” method, with the reasoning that governmental and economic power have been connected for too long. Austerity is the name of the game, at least on that end. These saved funds are then channeled to voters through its main policy proposal – social programs. Pensions for old people, student scholarships, disability checks…direct cash transfers and the clientele they bring are what the party’s become best at. Add onto them the syndicalist and rural structures that its brought onto the fold from the PRI and you can see where exactly it’s obtained so much goodwill (and votes) from.
Green Party (PVEM) – The most questionable party in a political scene already filled with questionable actors, the Green Party can be summed up in one word – controversy. Founded by a former PRI member in 1986, it limped along until somehow in the 90s it started getting votes. After that, it found its calling – being the willing coalition partner for any party that needs votes. In 2000 it aligned with the PAN to help elect Fox, from 2003 to 2018 it was in a long relationship with the PRI, and in 2019 it became a proud Morena ally. Over the years, it has championed such pro-environment proposals as: burning trash to generate electricity, giving medicine vouchers to families, and the death penalty! Wait a minute, weren’t these guys green? Ehhhh…the founder’s son once said that “they represented interests, not the ecology,” and the European Greens outright stripped the party its official designation of Being Green (TM). Aside from that, they’re known for a small scandal of TV celebrities being spokespeople for them in movie theater ads, a small scandal of an unauthorized resort development in Cancun, a small scandal of a murder of a Bulgarian model in a party…the Greens have been called “the worst of the worst” in Mexican politics. Rightfully so?
Labor Party (PT) – The PT is a party that, to be quite frank with y’all, dear readers, I don’t understand how (or to be more precise, why) it still exists. Formed in 1990 by a group of various left-wing and agrarian organizations, the PT has a typical leftist-socialist ideology, but never much actual presence nationally aside from being the coalition partner of the PRD or Morena. It’s tried running its own candidates for governors, but they never went anywhere – all its governorships have been as part of a coalition. It’s also only ever had its own presidential candidate once, in 1994 with Cecilia Soto – she obtained 4th place with a little less than a million votes. It has never been a highly voted party – in deputy elections, the most it obtained was in the 2009 midterms with about 3.7% of the vote. Last midterm, it reached 1.14%. It already escaped the loss of its registry in 2015 thanks to the goodwill of the PRD and MC in annulling an election. Who knows if it can this time?
Finally, there's Movimiento Ciudadano, with Jorge Álvarez Máynez as their candidate.
Movimiento Ciudadano (Citizens’ Movement) – Originally Convergencia in 1999, MC describes itself as social-democratic. They're a more modern left compared to the governing coalition, showing throughout the years proposals on urbanism, federalism, and a focus on GSMs. While for most of its existence it was another minor party that’d run in alliance with the PRD, MC shook up the scene in 2018 by winning the governorship and most municipalities in the state of Jalisco with Enrique Alfaro, followed by the 2021 meme-based winning campaign of Samuel García in Nuevo León. Samuel’s specifically set the tone for how MC would start running – flashy campaigns with candidates boasting about them being “the new politics” (debatable). Right now, the party is at an important fork, depending on how its first-ever homegrown presidential candidate Máynez does. If he reaches a good percentage of votes, MC will have the chance to be kingmaker in Congress, setting themselves up in a good position for the next elections. But if too many voters decide to go for one of the coalitions, the decision to run solo might accidentally have been the party’s downfall.

Sorry for submitting this way too late – I was getting distracted all day lol. I’ll write a second part tomorrow (or I guess, later today?) with how we got here based on recent history, the candidate running and the polls. Either Monday or Tuesday I’ll write an aftermath post based on the results. To all my Mexican friends, happy voting, and to everybody else, thanks for sticking around til the end.

2024.06.02 10:56 GrammarYahtzee123 Explaining each and every one of Sukuna's techniques, tools, and tricks... so far

Hi. I'm the guy that made this similarly titled post about Gojo's techniques at the beginning of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. A year has passed since then, and now that it seems like Sukuna's barrel of surprises has hit its bottom I'd like to go over all of his abilities as a sorcerer in order to put to rest any debates regarding his strength.
One note before we begin, I will be using the TCB's names for techniques and other proper nouns. I do not support John Werry.
Miscellaneous Jujutsu
Innate Technique: Shrine
Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine
This is a big enough topic that I think it merits its own section
Borrowed Technique: Ten Shadows
In the interest of not going over every minute detail of a technique that only somewhat belongs to Sukuna, I will only make note here of changes he made to the technique in order to increase its effectiveness
Binding Vows
Since Sukuna now has a reputation as the Binding Vow merchant, we may as well discuss all of them in detail
I really think I covered everything this time, but feel free to provide any corrections in the comments otherwise! Hope this list helps :)

The Phoenix Contact 2800491 Surge Suppressors have been a game-changer in my daily life. These handy little devices offer superior λ/4 technology, acting as a protective shield for all my coaxial signal interfaces. I've found they're incredibly efficient and provide protection up to a peak surge current of 6 kA.
The unit is designed with a male/female SMA connector, which allows for seamless connectivity. It also houses a neat SMA plug at the end. However, make sure you have a bit of extra room, as the width measures up to 47mm. Don't worry about depth or height though, they're quite compact at 70mm x 25mm.
Despite being powerful little protectors, they're quite easy to install and maintain. The unit comes with IP55 degree of protection, which means you don't have to worry about it getting wet from a splash of liquid. It also has a pretty nifty mounting type, making it easy to pop in wherever needed.
So, if you're looking for reliable surge suppression while maintaining a neat and tidy setup, the Phoenix Contact 2800491 Surge Suppressors are just the ticket.

As a frequent off-roader, I found the FMF Racing Turbinecore Spark Arrestor a game-changer. It's been an invaluable addition to my vehicle, keeping my engine safe from potential fires while the natural beige color blends seamlessly with my vehicle's overall design. The silent operation has made my off-road expeditions more enjoyable for both me and those around me.
Although it required some minor tweaks in the beginning, the smooth installation process made it worth it.

As a curious writer, I was excited to try out the Ubiquiti PowerBeam M5 PBE-5AC-500, advertised as a wireless bridge with impressive features. Right from the moment I unboxed it, the sleek design caught my eye. The integrated radio design, powered by Ubiquiti's InnerFeed technology, promised a seamless connection and no need for cables - perfect for a clutter-free workspace.
Using the product was a breeze, and the PowerBeam ac lived up to its promise of providing incredible antenna beam performance, even in noisy environments. The protective radome was also a welcome addition, giving me peace of mind knowing my device was secure from harsh outdoor elements.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks I encountered. Sometimes, I noticed slight delays in the connection, which were somewhat frustrating, especially when deadlines approached. Nonetheless, the product's pros outweighed the cons.

As a techie who frequently works with electronic devices, I've been using the Eaton APF120N05 A0AP1H2197. This Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor EMI Filter, also known as T170433, has truly been a game-changer in my daily life.
The first thing that stands out is its compact size. It's small enough to fit into tight spaces, which is perfect for my busy work environment. Plus, it's lightweight, making it easy to carry around if needed.
One aspect I truly appreciate is its effectiveness in protecting my devices from voltage surges. It has saved my gadgets more than once from potential harm, and the peace of mind it provides is priceless.
However, there is a downside. The instruction manual could be more user-friendly. As a tech enthusiast, I found it quite challenging to understand at first. But once I got the hang of it, it became a breeze.
Overall, the Eaton APF120N05 A0AP1H2197 Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor EMI Filter T170433 has proven to be a reliable and efficient device. Despite its minor drawback, its pros far outweigh the cons.

I recently tried out the APC ProtectNet, a standalone analog/DSL phone line surge protector, and I must say it's been a reliable protectant for my phone line and Internet connection. This sleek device, measuring 47mm in width, 28mm in depth, and 103mm in height, is a simple yet effective solution for safeguarding my components.
One of the distinguishing features of the APC ProtectNet is its advanced surge protection against damaging power transients traveling over computer, AV, and network data lines. It has the capability to withstand a 200A surge current and easily attaches to existing equipment. This telephone line surge protector also includes EMI/RFI noise rejection filtering, which makes it even more impressive.
Despite its many advantages, there were a few drawbacks. I discovered that some customers have encountered confusion regarding the connectivity options, as the APC ProtectNet only connects via RJ-45. I personally found it to be an excellent investment for my home, but others have expressed frustration with the limited product information and compatibility on the manufacturer's website.
In conclusion, the APC ProtectNet has been a trustworthy companion in protecting my device from potential damage caused by power surges. Its sleek design and advanced features allow for a seamless integration into my existing setup, while its few drawbacks are minor compared to its overall effectiveness.

🔗APC SurgeArrest 3-Phase Surge Suppressor with Surge Counter

Apologize to the tech gods, the SurgerArrest 3-Phase Surge Suppressor from APC is here to save our sensitive electronics. I've been using it daily for a couple of weeks, and I must say, this is one heck of a device.
One of the first things I noticed was the Protection Working Indicator. It's a small, reassuring light that keeps me calm knowing my data is being well-protected against all those invisible electric dangers lurking around the corner. This device has made me more aware of the potential risks my electronics face on a daily basis. Just think how many devices in our daily lives could use a product like this!
Then there's the Surge Counter. It's a simple mechanism that counts how many times it's stopped an electrical surge, giving me a tangible measure of how hard it's working to keep my electronics safe. It's like an invisible knight in digital armor, silently standing guard over my data, ready for action whenever needed.
However, it's also the features I can't see that got me excited. For example, the APC SurgeArrest 3-Phase has a NEMA 312 enclosure, which means it's designed to withstand harsh industrial environments. And don't forget the Thermal Overload Protection. It's like having a built-in thermal safety valve that releases heat build-up before it can cause a damaging fire.
My use of this product has definitely made me more aware of the importance of proper electrical surge protection in our sensitive data-driven world, and the SurgerArrest 3-Phase Surge Suppressor has been the unsung hero among my daily gadgets.

I recently tried using the SurgeArrest from APC as part of my daily routine, and I must say it's been a game-changer. With its sleek NEMA 312 enclosure, it fits perfectly in my outdoor or indoor setup, making it incredibly versatile for all sorts of situations. The thermal overload protection has been a lifesaver—it's like this little hero that steps in when my MOVs need help, saving my equipment from untimely damage.
But there's one standout feature that has impressed me the most: the Protection Working Indicator. There's just something reassuring about knowing exactly what the SurgeArrest is up to, and being able to remotely monitor its TVSS alarm status. It's like having my own surveillance system for my electronics!
The only thing that gave me a bit of a jolt was the Audible failure alarm, which seemed a little alarming at first. But once I understood it served as an indication of a damaged surge suppressor, it became part of my new routine. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind, wouldn't you agree?
Lastly, I was ecstatic to realize that the SurgeArrest was designed with energy conservation in mind, saving me a few bucks in the long run. All in all, it's been a fulfilling experience using the APC SurgeArrest, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I had the chance to test out the APC SuregeArrest Notebook Surge Suppressor, and I must say, it's a game-changer for protecting your valuable electronics. The compact design made it a breeze to carry around with my laptop and connected devices, offering a sense of security wherever I traveled.
One of the features that stood out was its versatile connectivity options. Not only did it include telephone cables, but it also came equipped with a network patch cable, ensuring that all my devices could make the most of the surge protection. The included cord management straps kept everything neat and tangle-free, giving me a tidy setup.
The surge suppression capabilities were top-notch, thanks to the Catastrophic Event Protection and the Let Through Voltage Rating of under 900V. With industry-standard certifications from CSA FCC Part 68 NOM and UL 1449, I felt assured that my devices were in good hands.
The status indicator was another highlight, as it allowed me to quickly check the surge protection status, giving me peace of mind that my valuable tech was always safe from power surges. 🔗APC SurgeArrest 2PH + g - Robust Surge Suppressor with Protection Indicators and Manual Disconnect

https://preview.redd.it/xa2s6t1tg44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a803b72938d9fdf35b17120763c5fd4b5134138c
The APC SurgeArrest surge suppressor has been my trusty sidekick for months now. In all my daily interactions with appliances and electronics, it has been the unsung hero, diligently guarding them from potential power surges and spikes. The lightweight surge protectors are designed to work without fail and that's precisely what they've done. They've got these handy individual phase modules that, when needed, can be replaced without having to unplug a bunch of devices. The whole process literally takes minutes and it's a feature I've grown to appreciate greatly.
But what's really impressive is the surge counter feature. It logs the number of power surges the unit is exposed to and honestly, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. It feels like a little radar that's been tucked away somewhere, unobtrusively tracking incoming power surges like a digital sentinel.
Then there's this incredible feature, the audible failure alarm. It's almost like having your own personal security guard. If the surge protector takes a hit, it emits a loud alarm. It's a real life saver because let's face it, I've been known to forget about the surge protector and just leave it in the background. But not anymore, because this alarm literally ensures it's on the top of my mind.
It's also interesting to note the NEMA 3R / 12 enclosure. It's specifically designed to meet the requirements of both indoor and outdoor applications, which is quite handy because it means the surge protector can work in any environment without any issues.
But of course, there's the downside. The manual disconnect switch is a useful feature, but it means that sometimes, when I need to temporarily unplug something, I have to remember to manually press the switch. It's like the surge protector is asking me for permission before I can unplug it, which can be a bit of a hassle at times. There's also the alarm contacts, which, while useful for monitoring, can also be a bit overwhelming at times. It's like being constantly tied to the surge protector, even when I don't necessarily need to be.
Overall though, the APC SurgeArrest surge suppressor is a reliable device that has helped me keep my appliances and electronics safe from the potential dangers of power surges and spikes. It's not perfect, but it sure is worth having on your side in this digital age where we heavily rely on electronics.

Imagine using a lightning arrester in your daily life, like the Phoenix Contact 2905415 Surge Suppressor. In my experience, it made my power supply network much safer. One of the best features was the mechanical coding of the base element and plug, which prevented incorrect assembly.
I also found the labelling option for the protective plug and terminals on the base element extremely useful. Plus, having two biconnect terminals each for N and PE made connecting round conductors and wiring bridges easier than ever.
However, there were a couple of downsides. The device was a bit large at 95.2 x 71.2 x 74.5mm, making it less convenient for smaller spaces. Also, the surge suppressor could get quite hot with a maximum operating temperature of +80°C.
Overall, the Phoenix Contact 2905415 Surge Suppressor is a reliable choice for protecting your power supply network from lightning currents, as long as you've got the space for it and can handle the heat.

I've been using the ABB RT5/32 Surge Suppressor for a while now, and let me tell you, it's made a world of difference in my work area. This 12-32V DC operated device protects against power surges that could potentially fry any sensitive electronics. It's designed to work with various contactors, like AL, AE, TAL, and TAE models.
One of the best features is how it seamlessly blends into the background. Its sleek, compact design keeps it unobtrusive whilst offering top-notch protection. However, one thing I'd change is the minimum order quantity - it's a bit high for personal use.
Overall, the ABB RT5/32 Surge Suppressor has proven to be a reliable and protective addition to my setup. It's a small investment with big payoffs.

2024.06.02 10:48 LieutenantPatang Sarkar Reimagined

I am back after a break with another reimagining, and I thought this time I would tackle another movie that fell disappointingly short of expectations... Sarkar. Sarkar released to huge expectations after the success of both Thuppakki and Kaththi, but the film failed to deliver on its promise of a Mudhalvan-like political fantasy; I have to admit though, the movie is a guilty pleasure of mine which I do often revisit. That being said:
WARNING: I am not claiming to be a better writer than any of the people involved in the film and this is not a criticism of their ability.
The movie begins with a boarding meeting at one of the companies in Canada that GL (Sundar's company) is about to acquire. The members of the board nervously waiting for the arrival of their new boss, the media is waiting outside and we get the hype up for Sundar's eventual mass intro. After a build a of tension, a Rolls Royce pulls up and the camera follows as a man wearing pair of Tom Ford shoes exits the vehicle and walks into the elevator in the building as the media tries to snap some pics of him. The members of the board continue to wait impatiently, as the elevator doors open to reveal Sundar Ramaswamy (Vijay). He basically walks in doesn't say a word and sits at the head of the table. Sundar's lawyer drops the paperwork on the table, each member of the board takes their turn signing the document. Finally the document comes back to Sundar who flicks his signature onto it and gets up to leave, but one of the board members stops him to ask, "How do you feel after ruining the livelihood of 3,000 employees?". Sundar turns around and smiles at the board before doing the signature 'Vijay gum flick' and walking away in slow motion, queue the 'CEO in the House' song as Sundar heads out to celebrate acquiring the company. The scene is to establish Sundar as a proper overconfident and cocky 'corporate monster' instead of just telling us that he is a 'corporate monster'.
From there the movie continues pretty similarly with Sundar coming back to India to cast his vote, even though he takes his job very seriously he is still a patriot at heart and has a soft corner for his people. Same as the movie, someone else casts his vote and he begins organising lawyers meetings and press conference to get his vote back. All goes pretty much the same until the point Sundar's driver tells him about the atrocities done by the government and the family that set themselves on fire, Sundar is genuinely quite unaware of all this. Similar to the movie, he directs his convoy to go to the colony where the little girl is. Unlike the movie, we have one long take where the camera follows Sundar from behind as he gets out his car and walks through the local area, through the alleys and slums, observing the common folk; this is to show how out-of-touch he really is with reality. He finally comes to the little girl's house, and the camera finally pans to reveal Sundar's somber face; this scene is crucial as this paints his actions for the rest of the movie, it is important that we spend time showing how this incident impacts him. Unable to look at the girl's burnt face Sundar turns around and walks away, he signals his PA to sort the family out with treatment for the little girl.
From here, we go to the scene with Rendu (Radha Ravi) at the hotel; this will go pretty much exactly how it did in the movie. The only difference here is, going into the hotel Sundar is slightly solemn, but his expression slowly changes with Rendu's speech and we get the scene with the 'Topu Tuckeru' BGM as Sundar smokes. The following events also unravel similar to the film with the action block and the 'Simtaangaran song'; these are commercial filler compromises that must be made, its also a staple of the ARM-Vijay combo movies. The following scene is also similar with Sundar instigating the court case to stop Masilamani's inauguration, the key difference though is that Sundar doesn't speak in the court he silently watches from the stands as his lawyer does the arguing. Once the ceremony is stopped, he gets up, does the 'Vijay gum flick' and walks away in slow motion with the 'CEO in the House' BGM; this mirrors the opening scene where Sundar finesses the board room, but this time he's finessed the government. The election is postponed by 10 days.
Meanwhile, Masilamani is furious by what Sundar started, he encourages his party members to start rioting and to find where Sundar is. The riots go on for 2 days, but there is no sign of Sundar anywhere. Masilamani grows impatient and starts seeking advice from Pappa (Varalaxmi), who says that they shouldn't have tried instigated or started beef with him in the first place, saying that she will be back in Chennai within the next day or so. While this is happening, media crews have gathered outside Masilamani's house which confuses him. Rendu goes outside and asks them why they are here, for which they respond: 'Sundar told us to meet him here'. Both Rendu and Masilamani are shocked. Suddenly a convoy of youngsters on bikes arrive with a Rolls Royce travelling at the centre of the party. Sundar gets out of the Rolls Royce and he is followed by his lawyers. Sundar asks for permission to enter, for which Masilamani obliges. The two sit down and face each other, with Masilamani asking what Sundar wants. Sundar responds with this:
  1. "I've got 750 youngsters who are ready to work for this party."
  2. "I've got 40 crores in hard cash."
  3. "I've got the tag of GL CEO."
  4. "Will you let me join your party?"
Masilamani and his partymen are shocked, he asks Sundar 'Why should I let you?". Sundar basically responds by saying:
"Your party's image is in shambles, even if you pay people to vote for you, they won't do it. You're guaranteed to lose this election and there's nothing you can do about it. I'm here to offer you the winning card, I will do everything to ensure your party retains. All I ask for is 70cr in campaigning funds and that you give me 2 MLA seats and take in the 750 youngsters that I have brought as party members. If your party loses, I will pay you twice what you paid me as a penalty but regardless of the outcome you can't raise this to the media or I will sue your ass. If you agree, sign the contract. You can let your lawyers read over it, but you have nothing to lose."
Masilamani is shocked by this offer and looks over the contract, he doesn't know how to read so he passes it to his lawyer who verifies it and says that it's legit. Rendu proposes that they wait for Pappa before signing, but Sundar says "if you don't accept this within the next 1 hour, I will take it to the opposition party". Masilamani is properly checkmated now, but what could he possible have to lose? He smiles and signs it, Sundar smiles and shakes his hand. Sundar walks out with a cigarette in-hand, the 'Oru Viral Puratchi' guitar rift rolls in the background.
INTERMISSION
Going into the second half, we have a few questions:
NOTE: I completely ignored Keerthi Suresh's character as it added nothing to my story.
With 8 days left till the election Sundar sits in his office, he calls his team and GL and tells them to run the ads of him giving the post press conference speech after getting back his vote (as he does in the movie). This creates waves in the media and makes him the poster boy for the coming election. He tells his PA not to organise any press conferences until he says so. Sundar has booked out a small venue where he will be speaking to the 750 youngsters that he has inaugurated into the party, this is where he finally reveals what happened in the last 2 days. We get a flashback and it is revealed that he ultimately did the same as what happened in the movie; to run an internet scan on all the most suitable candidates of each constituency and run interviews like a corporate company (I really like the idea of this), he positions the people he selected as independant candidates in their respective constituency. Sundar has been planning this since the scene with Rendu at the hotel; this all plays as a montage over the first half of 'Oru Viral Puratchi'. After the song we cut back to this speech with Sundar and the youth, where he basically says we are going to infiltrate this party from the inside and then he says the 'branding' dialogue from the movie (which I like the idea of, the mannerism was kinda cringe though).
Following the speech, Sundar enacts his next plan. He identifies Masilamani's candidates who are most likely to win in their respective area and launches a smear campaign through his influence over GL. This forces Masilamani to identify alternate party members to take their place, but Sundar presents Masilamani with the constituency polling data which shows that the independant candidates (that he selected based on the internet scan) are in the lead. Sundar suggests to Masilamani that they buy them out with a salary (also like corporate company), however Masilamani doesn't know that these individuals were planted by Sundar. Masilamani is beginning to get suspicious about Sundar's plan but he still hasn't fully sniffed it out yet given his lack of understanding about technology.
Pappa finally arrives in Chennai from Canada and confronts her dad about everything that has happened, she is shocked to find out that he has basically sold the party to Sundar. She is quickly able to deduce Sundar's plan based on the information given by her dad and Rendu. Pappa also reveals here that her husband was one of the board members from the start of the movie, which explains why she knows so much about Sundar.
Given that Sundar now controls most of the seats in the party, he begins his campaign from the background with candidates doing most of the work ; this plays over the second half of the 'Oru Viral Puratchi' song. As soon as this montage finishes, we find out that Masilamani has died. A confusion has now arisen as to who controls the party, with only 3 days left until the election. Pappa gives an angry press conference saying that Sundar had cheated her dad and stole the party, revealing the contract to the public. She also announces that she and her father's loyal supporters will be joining the opposition party. Based on the sympathy votes gained from her father's death the opposition offers Pappa a significant number of seats. Sundar is shocked to see what has happened, he won't be able to sue Pappa as Masilamani was the one that signed the contract (not sure about legal terms, but lets just go with it), suing her will also only get him more negative press.
Sundar gets a call from the GL board questioning him about his extensive involvement in politics given the bad press around his contract stunt. Cut to the next scene, Sundar is in a press conference and publicly announces his resignation from GL as he is about to leave the stage, he is heckled by one of the reporters on his way down. Sundar has to give up his company assets such as his PA and bodyguards, if he loses this election he still owes Masilamani's family 140crs as per the contract that he signed. For the first time in Sundar's life, overconfidence has led to his downfall. With two days left till the election and no internet influence and power, how is Sundar going to win?
The next day he posts a Facebook live and addresses his plan transparently with the party, this can be the same as the 'Idhu Namma Sarkar' scene from the movie. Sundar explains how he chose his candidates and compares it to the millions of college graduates who get a corporate job, highlighting the need for the government to be qualified. This gets some positive buzz for Sundar but not enough to win the election. As Sundar sits in his office, hopelessly, one of his candidates tells him about 'Saatai' Muthukumar (this plotline will be the same as the movie); this could be the ideal trump card to win the election. This ticks of an idea, given that all Masilamani's loyalists have moved to the opposition along with Pappa all the party assets now reside with Sundar. He hires a corporate auditing team to unpack all the party records and finds all the holes in there records this allows him to unpack the 'Saatai' Muthukumar conspiracy and he has all the evidence ready to go public... but he waits. Sundar contacts Pappa for a meeting and the two sit down, with lawyers present. Sundar reveals everything that he has found from his audit of the party and threatens to go public with it unless she voids their contract where he owes her family 140cr, he also agrees to sign an NDA. Pappa obliges and asks him to burn the evidence in front of her, which Sundar does. On the car ride home, Pappa orders for Sundar to be murdered as she doesn't trust him.
The next morning is the day of the election, similar to the actual movie Sundar begins tweeting from a fake twitter handle about the evidence pulled from the audit, leading the media on a wild easter egg hunt to put the evidence together themselves, this removes any paper trails that lead back to Sundar. Pappa and the opposition party struggle to manage the storm that has been caused by the tweeting, she knows this was done by Sundar but has no evidence to prove it; the only way for her save face is if Sundar confesses to his manipulation for which he needs to be alive, so she cancels the hit on him. It is soon revealed, similar to the movie that the fake twitter handle is associated with that of a dead man, begging the question of who is tweeting? Sundar and his team re-route the IP address of the tweets to the leader of the opposition party and spin the narrative that he did this to tarnish Masilamani's reputation as a leader, which leads to in-fighting. Pappa is furious, as although she knows the truth about Sundar's access to the evidence, she can't speak about it due to the NDA (which would open her up to being sued). With no other option, she plots to have Sundar killed, as it looks like he is going to win. We can insert an obligatory climax fight here, where Sundar overcomes the odds but realising an opportunity, he fakes his own death which increases the votes to his party, leading to a victory in the election.
The following day is the swearing-in ceremony as all the candidates take up their positions. Pappa is also present and she along with everyone else believes Sundar is dead. Just as the first candidate is swearing-in, Sundar arrives and sits right next to Pappa, there is a media frenzy happening outside. There is a small bit of dialog between the two and he explains why he did all this (i.e. reference back to the girl who was burnt outside the collecter's office, etc). He finally tells her that the contract he signed with her father was only for 8 days, so his time has expired and he is no longer part of the party. Sundar gets up and walks away in slow motion as the credit roll.
This is my reimagining of Sarkar, what are your thoughts and what would you do differently? And what movie should I do next?

2024.06.02 10:48 Living_error404 Am I being too sensitive or was my bf's comment in poor taste?

I just need to get this off my chest because I'm really upset right now.
My grandfather passed away 2 months ago. He collected guitars (over 100), and now Grandma is selling them off/giving them away to family because there's so many.
I like guitars. I can't play well but I've had them since I was little. When I visited I picked out a couple based on intuition because I didn't have internet and couldn't look up anything.
When I got home naturally I started googling the ones I have. I feel like this is normal, it's not about the price specifically but the quality. I did it for the ones I bought myself. I wasn't really planning on selling them - except for one. That one turned out to be worth more than I thought so I'm debating on even selling that.
It's important to note that I'm pretty sure my family feels the same. One or two holds sentimental value, but 118?? My dad laid it out like this: "These are cool to have, you can learn to play or use it for decoration. And if you ever need money you have something to sell".
My boyfriend however saw me doing that, and said I shouldn't be looking at prices because it doesn't matter, and that I shouldn't sell any of them. He made a comment like this before (I tried to explain my reasoning but I don't think he understood), but this time he took it further and said "Don't look at the prices of anything I give you".
Even writing it here it stings. I can't believe he said that to me. I have never, would never do something like that??? He should know already, I've explained to him to many times that I don't care about price, I just want to feel appreciated. He could give me a card- or hell, a handwritten note (which is free btw), or pick me flowers instead of buying them- something like that and I would absolutely love it. Cheap thoughtful gifts are far better than expensive meaningless gifts.
Also, I'm having trouble seeing how those things are related. He nerds out and googles all sorts of electronics and videogames, including the price. That's his hobby, I never assigned a monetary value to it.
Guitars are my hobby.
I told him to sell his $400 (used, so initially worth more) laptop and buy a cheaper one if prices don't matter, and he said, "It's different, a cheap laptop can't do what my laptop can do".
And? You think a $2k guitar is the same as a $200 guitar? (Yes I said that to him).
I think he understands a bit more and wanted to make up, but I can't help but feel like he's just upset that I'm upset with him and doesn't want me to be mad.
I listen to him talk about electronics all the time. Not just the games themselves, he really gets into the quality and how his computer runs and how the microphone sounds.
Now I don't really want to share that side of my hobby though, because apparently there's no value unless I'm actually playing. I feel like a filthy gold digger for having the audacity to look at the value of my grandfather's (now mine) guitars, despite having 9 of them and not intending to sell.
On the other side... I think there's a cultural difference here, and he's autistic. Apparently he "didn't mean it that way" and would never think that of me, but it still hurt.
Am I being too sensitive?
tl;dr: I looked at the price of guitars I inherited from my grandfather (to get a sense of the overall value/quality, not to sell), and my boyfriend made me feel like a gold digger despite him doing the same with electronics.

2024.06.02 10:47 Few_Document1566 Opinion/Theory: All the teens survive

Preface: I do not profess this opinion as the canonical and factual ending. I like the interpretations and ambiguity, which is why i believe this play is genius in its writing. This is my essay and case as to why i believe the kids ended up surviving in the end. I really tried to find where Jacob Richmond has ever said directly that they definitely don't return at all, or anything that confirmed the fate of the group aside from Jane/Penny ofc. As far as I am aware, he has only just focused on their death and has never explicitly confirmed any theories of the fate of the group. That is technically my first point I just discussed to back up the theory, but everybody knows the ambiguity of the ending has left a lot open to interpretation, so we won't count it ;). Besides, he can always one day come out and just decide the canonical fate to everybody and completely throw whatever I have here out the window, but hopefully he leaves it ambiguous. I apologize in advance for grammatical and structural mistakes. I tried to be organized with my thoughts, but i am also impatient and just type lol
1) Karnak's Prohpecy to the Group:
I know it is widely accepted that the "complete the whole" is referring to Ocean giving the prize to Jane in order to restore her "whole" and reincarnate her as her being the only one who lives in the end..... but technically, you could actually argue that the fortune means that when Ocean, who is the one who is the final and toughest person to come to terms and find peace in her death, gives the prize to Jane Doe, who was the biggest "loser" out of all of them, it will complete the "whole"....... as in the GROUP as a "whole". Ocean giving the prize to Jane Doe was the last and final resolution of the entire group as a "whole". They were all complete. There was nothing else that they needed to figure out or resolve after that and they all became complete and content in the end. They became whole and fulfilled the prophecy Karnak made, which funny enough, made the prophecy whole itself. Everything was made "whole". Personally, I think it is more face value, far fetched, and easy to assume that the "whole" meant JUST Jane Doe being complete. Focusing too much on the prize itself, and not the meaning of what the whole journey of the play/plot was meant to be about really. Karnak's prize of returning one person to life, i believe, was a red herring anyway. Karnak knows way too much about the group and it would defeat the whole purpose and have not nearly as much of an impact if he told everybody, "All of you will return to life if you learn your lessons 🤗". So, to assume the widely accepted assumption most people go with and it is nothing more... makes the idea only Jane was given life (the prize) just more flimsy in my eyes.
2) Wording, Context, and Specific Choice of Words That Were Written:
Ofc, Jane gets a life and is reincarnated we know this. Notice how that isn't the same as being brought back to life if you want to get technical though. Reincarnation and resurrection are very separate definitions when it comes to death and have been widely accepted as such. Her actual body and who she was, was not actually resurrected. Also, religions, most notably Hinduism, always tell us that reincarnation is the CONTINUATION of life. Life never stopped. As a matter of fact, Jane sings this in the beginning and end of the play. This is why a lot of people believe the group is in a constant time loop. It is a complete restart going from being alive.... to being alive in a different form for Jane. Amd it is a restart for the group which I will explain further. And if we are to interpret resurrection and reincarnation as separate, then nobody actually won the prize that Karnak said would be given. If the ending shows time being manipulated and reversed (or they were moved to another timeline. Gonna get into that later lol)..... then how is one dead if they never were to have died in the first place 👀 (Manipulation of time). So in a way, WE WERE ALL RIGHT. They did die in the timeline they were originally in, time technically did loop around to the point of where they were before, and they all are bow alive. Would be f'ing mind blowing.
3) Karnak's Reliability, Prophecies, and Misleading Nature:
Tieing into the previous point of evidence.... Karnak has been established since the beginning of the story to be misleading and not very trustworthy in what he says to be the entire truth or not the ONLY truth. However, that is not to say what he says has not come to fruition. All of his prophecies come true. Now, you may think that if I say this, then I just contradicted my point about him saying he would bring someone back to life in the end. That's where I am going to bring up the specific wording and how Karnak has operated in his prophecies and his nature as a character. See, even though they weren't playing a game as established in the ending..... Karnak explicitly stated when they arrived in Limbo that he wanted to play a game. That game was part of the red herring and the misleading nature of his character. It was a game for Karnak not them. Karnak constantly shifted the rules and regulations of the game throughout the play (never lied), but you know when he is clearly giving a prophecy (Ex: The winner and the loser make the whole). If the game never existed (as evident by the fact they were never actually competing, let alone even competing for a prize)..... If there wasn't a game being played.... then that would mean the prize was not the actual reward that was even given. So then you may ask, "What would that mean about the prophecy of the winner and the loser making the whole then if that is the case? Doesn't that contradict that theory?". That's where wording is very tricky and amazing about this play. A winner and a loser can be correlated to that of a conflict, battle or endeavor. You could actually refer to life as being the endeavor. Ocean was the one who wanted to win the most out of life, and Jane was the one who lost the most out of life. In Limbo, that continues to be the case. Ocean still is striving to win at her life (one who wants to win the most) while Jane can't and is eternally labeled as, literally, the loser. So, who wins and loses doesn't have to be in the context of an actual game or contest. And if you want to say there was a contest or game, then the only kind was with themselves. They were MAKING it a contest initially if anything.
Karnak has never lied. If there was never a game,, then there were never rules, and if there were never rules, then he really has never lied. Mislead? Yes. If you believe it was a game, then it would only be a game from Karnak's perspective. He would make changes, but has never actually lied.
4) Karnak's Powers and What He Was Going to Say Before His Death:
By the end of the play, at this point, it's absolutely perfectly reasonable to assume Karnak has the ability to bring all of them back if he were to be able to do everything else he has done in the show. He has never stated that he isn't capable of it, and just says that he is able to bring someone back who wins. Powers we know he is capable of are (and not limited to as far as we know) time manipulation, spacial manipulation, controlling life and death, prophecising, resurrection (we actually don't even know if he is capable of this technically, but probably is), reincarnation, and being an overall omnipotent and all knowing being. I know it is even more of a deeper dive, but if they are in a time loop and the last time we see the group, is when they are back on the coaster..... who is to say he didn't take them to a time where the accident doesn't happen? Somebody said that they are just constantly in a never ending loop on the coaster at the end cause of the screams and the gestures? But idk how we would get that when a roller coaster has multiple dips so idk how you would get the conclusion from just gestures. I would like to mention that Karnak was about to mention another prophecy before his death, so there clearly was something that we are meant to try and figure out what it could be that he didn't mention. I just know there is something significant about the number 7 that ties into it somehow, cause I haven't been able to figure out the significance of that number besides the time of when they were riding the coaster. There has to be more to it.
5) The Light:
Ok, I just know someone is going to say something about the light, and I totally understand..... but it's not enough to counter everything else that was previously mentioned. Jane and the group had different colors for the light because they both traveled different paths of their return. And also, you could easily interpret the change of light for the group to show that they were back in the carnival setting and they just made the light green because they were matching the carnival color aesthetic. It's just something that I get is subtle and should definitely be taken into consideration, but it's just not enough. You would have to examine if there is any symbolism in color within the story and if they are actually associated with anything in the play itself, which as far as I can tell.... the white light is the only symbolic color I could discern.
P.S. I'm sorry, but I flat out am going to say that the theory that Jane Doe always was Penny is not believable imo cause if you know of Legoland, people would DEFINITELY know who she was, her fingerprints, law enforcement and the school having a strong enough inpression from her criminal activity and how unhinged she was when she was alive. There's just no way her death would have gone unnoticed if she was Penny before she died. So, she was definitely reincarnated as Penny. Not resurrected. You could argue that she got reincarnated as Penny, and then that is the actual Penny from Legoland, but like........ what would be the contextual clues and evidence if that's the case? The only thing would be that Jane (whoever she was before death) and Penny both go to the same school canonically, but like...... Penny also has a brother who goes to the same school..... so even if her parents were locked up while she was dead, her brother would've known so very easily. To say she didn't have a brother pre Jane Doe would be saying so without any actual contextual evidence.

2024.06.02 10:35 apouty27 Irish water - is it that yuck?

Based in Dublin , i use a 3L Brita filter which gets refilled on daily basis. I noticed lately, even after the water is filtered, it leaves those green marks on the bottom, sides if my filter... My cartridge is only 2 weeks, and it happened to all the other cartridges.
Anybody gets this problem? Any idea as to why? I have to thoroughly clean the container and the part that holds the filter regularly but same green thing comes back after 2-3 days... Never happened up till about a year ago.

Hi, I'm looking to build a high-end PC that is ideally future proofed for the next generation of Nvidia GPUs. It will be mainly used for competitive CS2 on 2560x1440p, other single player games on 3440x1440p, and some productivity tasks but nothing very strenuous. The included 5700xt would be a placeholder for the next 12-18 months before I buy a high-end card for gaming. I'm somewhat tech literate and believe that all the components should maximise one another. If anyone had advice about motherboard selection, PSU (some research showed it might not be the best for next gen cards) and achieving low CL RAM latency with the mobo given. I really am looking to keep the 7800x3d if possible as it should last me a long time. NB: I won't migrate the 120GB SSD from my old build and would upgrade the HDD in the near future. Thanks for your help.
