Hi everyone, F(21) and it’s my first post on reddit so I apologize if it just sounds like one big run-on sentence but after reading some posts I could really relate to and find semblance with, I thought maybe it’d be a good thing for me (and hopefully someone reading this) to share some of the challenges i have had/been having. ((p.s. this might get long so warning in advance))
For some context, my dad has always been a heavy drinker. He’s consistently made poor decisions throughout my life due to his drinking that has put a strain on our relationship as well as his relationship with my mother. My mom used to be very embarrassed of his habits, especially out in public when he’d have too much and begin saying things he would never usually say. These days however, she’s beginning to reach that point of just letting go and letting him act on his own impaired judgement without sparing a second glance. When I was younger, my dad was a reasonably strong drinker that could have shots on shots without getting blackout drunk, unless that was what he was aiming for. However due to aging, new health conditions and certain medications, etc etc, one rum and coke is enough to get him pretty much 80% impaired. Having to deal with some of his own family issues, new transition to being retired and not really having much to do on a daily basis has made him miserable and when he’s drunk he occasionally voices that he ‘knows he’s no good’ and that ‘there’s nothings left for him’.
Before I continue i’ll take this time to add in that my dad isn’t inherently a bad guy. I have to say he isn’t the best either. He’s just an average older man with some health concerns and good days along with bad days that unfortunately, he self medicates with liquor. He’s not super dad and we’ve definitely hit rock bottom in our relationship more than a handful of times but at the end of the day he’s my dad and that’s enough for me.
Fast forward to today, he got into a heated argument with my mom after having too much to drink and I caught him trying to leave when I got home from work. He usually does this and doesn’t ever end up leaving, just sits out on the steps or until someone approaches him and low and behold, every time that person is me.
I feel like i’m being split into a million different directions because there’s a part of me that really feels sorry for him when I see him even begin to cry about how he feels like his life is ‘f***ed’ and keeps “going downhill never up.” Another part of me wants to scream and yell at him demanding why all my hard work and dedication (that goes almost entirely to my parents) isn’t enough. A part of me wants to pack my things and leave and accept that it isn’t my responsibility or even my right to make my dad acknowledge his drinking problem and seek help. And the final part that is scouring the internet for up to 5-6 hours of every AA meeting within a 50 mile radius and cost breakdowns for every withdrawal rehab program in my area along with how many shifts i need to pick up to afford them. Every waking minute I spend consumed by the overwhelming dread from the consequences of my dad’s drinking. For anyone that may be experiencing something similar, have you had any luck getting rid of this seemingly endless guilt/headache/paranoia/stress about a loved one’s drinking habit? A lot of times I get advice telling me that i need to let go and let him make his own decisions which i KNOW i SHOULD be doing but for sometime reason there’s something inside me that can’t not get overwhelmingly stressed by. 2024.06.01 06:20 starbition I (23F) found Hinge on my boyfriends (25M) “unused” phone and he was flirting with other girls. What should I do? We’ve been together a year and a half, almost 2.
A little over two weeks ago, me and my boyfriend got back from a cruise. When we were on said cruise, we had a disagreement about splitting the costs of things. We split the vacation which I am fine with. He usually pays for my dinners about 2/3 of the time and it didnt seem like he had any problems with it until recently. And so when he asked me to pay for my museum ticket, i was a bit taken aback. At the time, I over reacted, and I did end up apologizing. But he made the remark that this issue would keep coming up. I didn’t know he suddenly had such an issue paying for his girlfriend? He’s never really made a big deal like this. We ended up both agreeing that he’s not responsible for me, and that if he felt the want to do something for me or pay he would, but he didnt want to feel like he had to, which i was like, okay. He also makes 3x as much money as i do, so often i feel like he puts me down for it even though he has said thats not what he meant. I also feel like now i wont be able to partake in some of the things he wants to do just because i can’t afford it and he doesnt want to pay for me anymore. But anyway, the issue was “resolved”. Fast forward two weeks (this weekend): so my boyfriend was driving back from the airport after picking up his friend that’s staying with him for an extended weekend. After i got off work, i went over to his apartment to pick up a couple of my things before i headed back home for the weekend. I wanted to let him just spend time with his friend. As I’m about to leave, something tells me to look in his drawer and see if his “old phone” that he didn’t sell yet was charged. I really didnt want to snoop through his stuff, but we had just gotten back from vacation 2 weeks prior and hes been acting off ever since because we had that slight disagreement and few other subsequent ones. To my surprise it was, which was my first red flag. My second red flag was that he had a word password on it. Luckily, I knew a few of his password variations, so it wasnt hard for me to get into. I ended up confronting him about it and he says he felt like we have been having a lot of disagreements and that he just wanted to confide in someone because he cant talk to his guy friends. He apologized and said he wish ed he had never done it and said he had no intentions of being with anyone but me and that everything that was said to these girls were superficial. But that does NOT give him a reason to seek out the attention of other women. He also said he still wants to marry me, have a life with me, and that I’m the love of his life and wants to make things work. Hes also trading in his old phone and current phone and upgrading supposedly. But the thing is, he started the hinge account the day after we got back from the cruise, so we had only had that one resolved disagreement at that point. I lowkey want to make things work, but everyone in my life seems to think i should move on. And maybe deep down i think they’re right. Now he’s acting like things are automatically going back to normal even though this happened just 24 hours ago. He’s also offering to buy me a lot of things now? He was in a different city with his friend and kept offering to buy me shoes, clothes, food. Now he wants me to go get sushi with his friend tomorrow. I don’t know where to go from here.

I would love to see us engage with eachother in this sub in a way that glorifies God, and if nothing else, is at least able to adhere to the sentiment expressed in this op ed. I'm not completely innocent, but I can at least say that I am genuine about wanting to understand the MAGA side of the house better, and I still believe that a majority of MAGA folks are genuine about their belief Trump would make America better because they see him as representing Christian values we all appreciate. I do not agree he's the guy for that, but I do respect the idea and I respect the loyalty.
If reddit has taught me anything, it is that if you want to talk someone towards your point of view, you don't make it harder to get there by tripping them up with ad hominem attacks and sarcasm. Is it fun? Yes. Is it productive? Not so much.
But I do think that TrueChristianPolitics should be a forum of mutual respect. It doesn't need to be respect for the position of the other, but it should be respect for the soul that feeds it, and for the scripture we all live on by the grace of God. We should always remember we are not citizens here. We're just passing through on our way home, and all of this is chasing after the wind and a feeding upon it for the unsaved and the saved alike, for there is nothing new under the sun, not even this.
May it please the Lord to shower grace on you and me, forever and ever, amen.

We talk in our country about political polarization and it’s real: We’re split into a thousand pieces within two big camps of left and right. We decry the harshness of our political discourse, particularly online, where outrageous and dehumanizing things are said.This is a solid read. If you don't know, Peggy Noonan is a writer for the Wall Street Journal, who used to write speeches for Reagan. She still writes opinions for the WSJ, and I've always found her to be a solid conservative voice.
But what I’m seeing is that we don’t mind disliking each other now. We like it. That’s the new thing, that we’re enjoying the estrangement.
Nobody’s trying to win anybody over. The biggest recent example of this is the story about the Supreme Court justice’s wife who didn’t understand that flying the American flag upside down outside her home during a crisis might be experienced by others as unhappily weird and possibly alarming, and her neighbor who didn’t understand that when engaged in a political dispute it’s not really nice to spew lewd and ugly epithets unbidden, or put them on lawn signs.

I was injured at work by bending over and trying to lift something less than 10lbs. I ended up with a compression fracture (I have osteoporosis) and sacroilitis. I've been getting PT and seeing a doctor at this office that specializes in workers comp cases. Surprisingly, every provider I've seen knows what EDS is and just a little bit about it.
The doctor I saw a few days ago got super serious with me and told me I should really think about whether or not I want to return to work. She said it's not fair to me and I'm just going to keep getting hurt. She told me I needed to take care of my body now and that I don't really have room for error (like lifting a heavy box incorrectly). I already knew this (my partner has been begging me to find something new), but damn it really sucks hearing a doctor say it out loud.
I'm in school and this was just a temporary job to pay for food and gas. It was easy. No customers, lots of friends and I could listen to music all day. It was the 25th? 26th? job I've had. I'm 28 and the longest I've held a job is 9 months. I graduate in a year and I'm afraid I've spent thousands on this degree just to end up unable to work.
It makes me really upset. I honestly feel useless. My partner makes a really good salary and he says he will take care of me. Both of us want me to have a job, but he says it doesn't have to be enough to split the bills 50/50. I just worry because he could leave at any time and I would be screwed if he did. If I could consistently cook and clean maybe I'd feel different. I'm extremely grateful for him and everyone in my life who helps take care of me. I’d love insight - - if they pay me directly, how do I manage with my income etc? I’m sure it’s a big tax hit, but possible to put directly into an account for kids college or something to avoid the tax hit? If I do take the tax hit do I just file that separate when I complete my taxes? Is the rate I should set aside to pay taxes 22% or higher or ? - from an org perspective, do they just file a 1099 and then add as supplemental salary on the 990 (we currently have no salaries paid on our 990s) - other insight / guidance / suggestions appreciated

I 25 (f) have two kids the first let’s call him Goob 5(m) and the second let’s call him Bean >1(m). Lets start off by saying when I say my parents I mean my dad and his wife my bio mom and dad split when I was young. For a little back story I have been a single mom the whole time with both of my kiddos not by choice I have struggled really hard there whole life to make ends meet and have continued to ask my parents for there support and help with them. I also have had problems with my dad’s wife stealing money from me before and using it for things that were not needed. (Example: when I was about 14 I had 140$ saved up to take drivers ed that next school year from working all summer with my grandma and she took it to buy a new purse) When Goob was around a year old me and my dad had set up an account for him at the bank that we both used and at the time I was making roughly around 300(usd) a month despite that over the years I had ended up putting around 2,000 in there. Yesterday I had gone to the bank to fill out some unrelated paperwork for myself and out of curiosity I checked Goobs account and there was only 98$ in the account. When I had set up the account with my dad the goal for Goob was to be able to get what he needed to when he was 18 and no one could touch it until then. My dad and his wife had gone behind my back and changed the account to where they could access it. I was not supposed to see it but I saw the money coming out of my sons account and directly into my dads bank account. I told them over the phone what I saw and how much money was gone and told them that if they did not get the money back into Goobs account and get the account switched to mine and my sons name only that they would not be able to see ether of my children. I started that account for my son so that he could start out better than I did when I was young I didn’t start out with anything and I didn’t know how to do anything that an adult should be able to do and I wanted a better life for my son and my dad agreed. My dad also lied to me over the phone saying he had no idea what happened to the money. I personally have put up with a crazy amount of bull s**t with these two and only want what is rightfully my sons to be given back to him.

I work for my husband's family business, my father-in-law is my boss, and my husband also works here. The job is alright and the pay is fine. But over the last few years the company has been in the red and the owner, my father-in-law doesn't listen and take advice when we think certain changes may be helpful. I get it, it's his business not ours, but he asks for help, an immediately shoots down anything we suggest only to magically come up with the same idea a few weeks or months later and pretends like we never said anything.
Then in March we laid off three people which equated to 22% of the company and between my husband and I (I was already doing about three part time jobs in my full time role, it's a small company) had to split up another full time office role between the two of us. I'm quickly feeling the burnout coming and busy season JUST started.
The flexibility of working for family has been great, but there have been practices that I don't agree with and worry me as well as the way certain things are handled internally and externally. It feels non-loyal to say this, but I don't have a lot of faith that this will be something I can count on to support us for the rest of our careers, plus retirement.
On the other hand, is this a situation that I should stick out, throw everything into, and make it the best it can be, since truly we have another ten years max before he retires and then it will fall into my husband's hands? I am going to post this in both the endometriosis and the ehlersdanlos group as I feel it could go either way….
How did your fatigue present originally? And what do you do to manage it?
Here’s why I’m posting in both groups: 1) I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was about 14. Always had light but super irregular periods and now that I’m in my 30s, even with BC the pains have been getting worse and I’ve started having some serious PMS…. Like dark thoughts, it actually scares me… and because of the pain, my gyno “suspects” I have endometriosis, and the BC seems to be regulating it OK so I’m hesitant to do laproscopy……… 2) I have joint hypermobility, and it really became present around the time I hit puberty; I grew up on dance and remember being super young struggling with my spilts but the one summer everything seemed to click and my flexibility was fantastic; at 39 my Beighton scale is still at 5/9 but was at 7/9 proof to wrist and hand injuries … the more I think about things, people telling me my skin is super soft, as was my moms and she was able to do a split demand in her 40s I’m starting to get curious (also she had a plethora of health issues, but some could be contributed elsewhere) … I also had a friend in PT school with EDS who was convinced I have it as well, but really until recently I didn’t see a connection….. anywho
So since December, I’ve had issues with increasing fatigue and decreased exercise tolerance… had some weight gain, I suspected thyroid; T4 only slightly below the low line, TSH normal… doc has me on phentermine with some mild success….. but fatigue continuing to progress and now with symptoms of light-headedness daily….. basically fatigue overall getting worse despite everything and I’m frustrated and tired and don’t know where to ask questions….. any help? Please?!?

There is varying degrees of yellowing from series to series and volume to volume. Most have some degree of normal shelf wear. There may be ripped/marked pages or even missing pages (although I doubt it as most of the volumes as you’ll see in the pictures are in overall good to great condition).
They have been kept away from sunlight (blackout curtains on the bookcases) and my apartment is a non-smoking apartment.
All series have pictures of the series as a whole as well as what I can visually inspect and find anything on the outside of the volumes. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURES TO SEE THE FULL CONDITION OF THE SERIES. If you need any clarification or more pictures of a series or a volume please let me know and I can get more pictures or clarify the extent of the damage if there is any.
